Gendering Of Toys
The gendering of toys is clear in a market that continues to segregate boys and girls based on a
multitude of factors that include colour, intellectual ability, and so on. The effects of children
restricting themselves to certain categories of toys that they can play with can have profound
repercussions on their everyday life. It may lead boys and girls into developing varying sets of
abilities including cognitive, emotional and social skills that allow children to become prepared for
future endeavours (Auster Mansbach, 2012). As well, it can contribute to the gendering of family
structure, the division of labour within the home and the inequalities of genderwithin the workforce,
whereby women statistically dominate work as nurses and

Race Riots In The 1960s
African Americans have overcome multiple struggles within American society. Race brutality has
been a major battle for African Americans to fight against. There have been many race riots
throughout history that have influenced future actions towards African Americans. The anti
African American was a process of assimilation for immigrants who felt that being against African
Americans was a way to adopt the values of the dominant American culture and to be seen as
American and not as an immigrant. One way to adopt the values of the dominant culture was to
believe in racial segregation. The idea of immigrant groups to be anti African American, to become
American, illustrates the pressure and societal oppression African Americans faced during... Show

Frye responded to the officers by arguing with them for arresting him for drunk driving. Frye and
the officer were in a heated debate which led to Officer Minikus pulling out his baton. The
officer responded with the usual procedure by sending out a code 1199 Officer Needs Help over
the radio. The other officer on the scene, Officer Bennett, pushed back the crowed with his
shotgun and the crowd moved back as Minikus and Frye struggled for control of the baton. In a
few short moments, more officers responded to the 1199 call and Officer Wayne Wilson reacted
immediately by dispatching baton blows to the stomach and ribs of Frye s brother Ronald and
his mother who were fighting back against the officers. The entire family was arrested and the
scene seemed quiet as more officers arrived to disperse the crowd. However, after the Frye family
was taken away, Officer Vaughn felt someone spit upon him and he and other officers dragged a

Freud s Interpretation Of Dreams Research Paper
Sigmund Freud was undoubtedly one of the most influential people in the development of thought
during the 20th century. His theory that our minds guard memories and emotions in our
subconscious transformed the way humans studied the human mind.
Freud said that throughout history there were three great humiliations. The discovery of Galileo
that we are not the center of the Universe. The discovery of Darwin, that we are not the crown of
creation. And his own discovery, that we do not control our own mind. One of Freud s most
important discoveries is that emotions buried in the subconscious surface rise to the conscious
surface during dreams and that remembering fragments of dreams can help to uncover buried
emotions and memories.
Throughout his well known work, The Interpretation of Dreams, Freud uses his own dreams as
examples to demonstrate his theory on the psychology of dreams. Freud distinguishes between the

The Island And The Road Comparison
The two dystopian texts, The Road is written by Cormac McCarthy and The Island directed by
Michael Bay are great examples of a dystopian world. The Road is a post apocalyptic novel
where a father and son have nothing but the dirty clothes on their backs, a pistol and a cart filled
with scavenged items. Their destination, the coast, although they don t know if anything awaits
them there. The Island is an advanced world where clones of real people are made in order to
help their clients live longer. These two mediums are fairly similar once you go in depth. The two
works, The Roadand The Island have common dystopian characteristics which are the use of brute
force, alienation and dehumanization of individuals which is reflected in terms... Show more content

The man fell back instantly and lay with blood bubbling from the hole in his forehead. The boy
was lying in his lap with no expression on his face at all (McCarthy, pg. 66). In other words, the
boy was so shocked by the situation he was in; this caused him to change his attitude towards
strangers. In the same manner The Island has important character development that causes the
protagonists to change their behaviours. For instance, when Jordan Two Delta and Lincoln Six
Echo escaped and went to Tom Lincoln s house. In this scene there was an altercation that
resulted in the client Tom Lincoln dying, which was a great example of how the characters
developed. After this scene the protagonist realized how careless and willing they were to hurt
others in order to get the clones back to the facility. The scene allowed the protagonist Lincoln Six
Echo to develop and take extra precautions to maintain safety. Six Echo would always be on his
toes; look back every so often, and though through his plans. This leads into the theme that is
related to brute force which is that people will do anything to survive.
The theme that is comparable to this dystopian characteristic is that individuals will do whatever
they can to survive. In the movie the actor Steve Buscemi who is Lincoln s friend says this to

Arthurian Legends Effects on English Society
What role did the great King Arthur play in the way English Literature is perceived? The Arthurian
Legends reveal King Arthur as a chivalrous king and not as a historical figure but as a myth of
mass amounts of achievements. From his search of the Holy Grail, to his perfect society in Camelot
and his development of the Round Table, King Arthurs legend displayed his heroic character.
Through the many countless legends of the glorious King Arthur, England s society underwent a

The castle itself also proved to have some magical presence to it, mainly because it was forged
by , Merlin, the wizard adviser of King Arthur. The castle served as headquarters for King Arthur
and his knights as well. A special hall held the Round Table, where Arthur and the knights would
plan their campaigns. The hall also contained lifelike statues of the twelve kings who had tried to
overthrow Arthur. All had been defeated by him and were buried at Camelot. Each statue had a
lighted candle. According to Merlin, the candles would stay lit until the Holy Grail the cup from
which Jesus drank at the Last Supper was found and brought to Camelot. It was from Camelot
that the knights rode out to perform good deeds and to search for the Holy Grail. (Camelot Vol.
2). As the king of Camelot king Arthur and his men protected his reign of power against twelve
kings who had wished to overthrow him. Maybe they believe he was too weak to maintain power
over his glorious kingdom. Consequentially, that belief resulted in their downfall. During the reign
of King Arthur his form of government resembled a Utopia, due to the fact that the system of
which Arthur was controlling his kingdom transpired the happiness of his people. Everything was
going right for King Arthur, his men appearing to be loyal to him; the magic sword could not fail

The World Is A Beautiful Place Poem Analysis
The world is a beautiful place to live in blissful ignorance. The grassy meadows, the alluring
sunset and the serene waters are a few of many scenery that beguile human beings into believing
that the world is beautiful. Lawrence Ferlinghetti s life experiences as an orphan and a soldier in
World War II had shown him the flaws of society that has existed in many generations such as
hunger, death and inequality. To raise consciousness of the world, he used his literature to achieve
this goal. In the didactic poem, The World is a Beautiful Place , Lawrence Ferlinghetti reveals the
brutal truth of the world in order to break the narrow minded and ignorant outlook people have
towards the world. Many poetic devices were used to emphasize the theme of the poem. Repetition
and imagery was used to remind the readers of the underlying bitter tone of the poem while

Teloomerase Research Paper
Telomerase (TERT) is an enzyme responsible for maintaining the ends of telomeres and reversing
the process of telomere shortening in humans by adding a TTAGGG polynucleotide to the 3 end of
the telomere. The addition of the TTAGGG compensates for inefficiencies in replication of the ends
of DNA in eukaryotes. Telomerase is limited to highly proliferative cells such as germ cells and
lymphocytes where the telomerase is necessary to maintain telomere length, and the telomeres
themselves are not sufficiently long to facilitate such rapid cell division without incurring damage
to the DNA. Most somatic cells exhibit no telomerase activity and in cells where telomerase is
present telomerase activity is strictly regulated. In cells that exhibit

A Brand New Therapy
Cellatroniks is a brand new therapy in the United Kingdom, although it has been practiced in the
United States for 25 years by its founder Teddy Gagnan. Also called dynamic energy therapy, it
boosts energy fields in the body, which in turn strengthens the immune system and enhances the
body s healing capacity. According to Trick Or Treatment
: The Undeniable Facts about Alternative
Medicineby Simon Singh, Edzard Ernst, The therapy works by sending invisible and soundless
energy waves into the body via key points the hands, feet, back of the neck, chest, shoulder and
abdomen. A central machine stores different programmes for enhancing different parts of the
body or body systems for example, there are programmes for the kidneys, the endocrine system,
the digestion, the eyes, the legs and the circulation. Patients sit in a comfortable chair and the
energy is fed into the body via a flat metal plate known as an enhancer. Some patients feel a
warmth spreading from the plate, others say they feel no sensation. Laboratory tests have shown
that once the energy is passed into the body differences can be found in the brain waves; patients
report feeling relaxed and later energized. Teddy Gagnan describes the treatment as a food for the
body , supplying energy where it is deficient. This in turns helps to achieve balance in the body,
enabling it to combat disease and disorder. Cellatroniks technology is currently being used to treat
cancer, MS and diabetes in the United

the last three perspectives IS/IT is a essential component of the organisation and therefore
implementation of IT strategy controls the success of the company and therefore is closely linked

alignment interest from IBM waned and their funding of the research ended. Subsequent research in

Alan Turing s Impact On Modern Day World
Life of Imitation Father of Artificial Intelligence, inventor, Enigma breaker, war hero. The life
of mathematician Alan Turing is one of extreme feats and tragedy. Even from a young age,
Turing was misunderstood and unappreciated, and this became a common theme all the way to
his death at the young age of 41. Alan Turing envisions a digital world centuries ahead of his
time. Everything he did still has a major impact on our modern day world. Yet his impact is still
unrecognized. Alan Mathison Turing was born on June 23, 1912 in Maida Vale, London. Even

Architecture Style And Architecture Of The Taj Mahal
CHAPTER 1
1.0 INTRODUCTION A story makes an old building charming. In reality, a pleasing exterior view
does not ensure people will be attracted to the particular heritage building. It is the story behind the
heritage building that gives meaning to both building and people. As a heritage building, the
building itself has been passed the test of time and becomes a typical landmark for a city. Hence,
the story of the building explained its architecture style and structure which makes it be a
remarkable building. For instance, Sultan Abdul Samad Building (SASB) has a unique
architectural design which is the mixture of several architectural styles. This result is caused by
the Charles Edwin Spooner, the state engineer of Public Work Department, Selangor, who worked
in Ceylon before transferred to Selangor. He preferred to design a Mughal style building on a
Classic Renaissance style ground plan which suggested by A.C. Norman. Moreover, British
Victorian style is incorporated into this building s design as the British colonized Malaya. This
story explained its unique architectural structure while gave the new generation a better

Comparing Frankenstein And Mother Nature In Frankenstein...
From the beginning of time to the present, nature is always portraying as a broad element of life
that is rarely in everyday language. As a genius writer like Mary Shelley, she writes a frame story
called Frankenstein that illustrates the natures of Victor Frankenstein and the creature. Although it
s a story that revolves around nature but it contains a strong view that Victor Frankensteinas the
creator is less human then his creation. With the very first sight of his creation, Victor already
named it frightful and unpleasing to see. As frighten as Victor can be he abandoned his creation
or the creature to an unknown world. Moreover, as the story progresses Victor will always live in
fear of the creature while the creature is trying to learn... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Knowing his features, the creature isolates itself from the world but seeks a way to learn and
gain knowledge. Shelley uses nature as a symbolic element throughout the book that foreshadows
Frankenstein and the creature s human nature and Mother Nature. As the creator of the creature
Frankenstein, actions towards his surrounding changed drastically knowing that the monster is
somewhere in this world. Since the beginning of Frankenstein s story he was portrayed as a the
innocent and helpless creature bestowed on them by Heaven, whom to bring up to good, and
whose future lot it was in their hands to direct to happiness or misery, according as they fulfilled
their duties (Shelley 16). As described by Frankenstein s parents, he was a creature made by God
that can amend the future with his hand and led it to greatness or downfall. This is significant
because it proves that from a young age Frankenstein s parents has given him hope that he can
success in life and make history if he does it right. In other words, he was born with positive human
natures that surround him and shape who he was before he made his monster . However, after
creating the monster

Narnia s key characteristics prompt debates over logic and faith, comment on the nature of
spiritual and metaphysical journeys, allow readers to broaden their conception of their own

good and evil. Narnia s first characteristic of note is the portal through which it is reached В– the

children are unsupervised and irrelevant. The Professor involves himself little with the children s

freedom afforded by the Professor s indifference does not translate into maturity. In Narnia, by
contrast, the children immediately command

Essay On African Americans After Reconstruction
History of African Americans after Reconstruction
During reconstruction the United States was divided on social issues, presidential campaigns were
won and loss on these issues during this period. The struggle for development of African Americans
and how they initiated change in political, economic, educational, and social conditions to shape
their future and that of the United States. (Dixon, 2000) The South s attempts to recover from the
Civil war included determining what to do with newly freed slaves and finding labor to replace
them. The task of elevating the Negro from slave to citizen was the most enormous one which had
ever confronted the country. Local governments implemented mechanisms of discrimination to

The development of sharecropping was associated with the endless debt cycles that afflicted the
entire South well into the twentieth century. The freedmen endured an economic status likened to
peonage, (Bowles, 2011) in addition to having their hopes for political and social equality dashed.
The entire South suffered, it was the freedmen who paid the highest price. Ignorant and
impoverished, they were easy targets for exploitation by landlords (Bowles, 2011) and merchants
alike; moreover, their options were limited by the overt racism in the South, legal restrictions and
partiality. Sharecropping resulted from the intense explicit or implicit desire of white
Southerners to keep blacks subservient to them. African Americans possessed few skills, and
those they did possess related almost exclusively to agricultural production; they owned no
property but the clothes on their backs; (Bowles, 2011) Many dreamed of forty acres and a mule
with which to begin life anew as an integrated part of American society and the proprietor of one
s own land. Inside of a year, however, a different reality became obvious to most. By 1868, land
confiscation and redistribution was not in the realm of American political possibility. Desperation,
familiarity with people and surroundings at the old places coupled with reunion of many lost loved
ones, as well as the urgings of

Amendments to the National Constitution
Background In the U.S. legal system, the Constitution forms the basic template for legal theory and
management of law. This document formed the bases for the U.S. government and defined the
three main sections: Executive, Legislative and Judicial. We must remember, too, that the idea of
this constitution of removing ties to a monarchy and setting up a separate government by the
people, for the people, was a very radical idea in the 18th century and had a background not only in
the various documents from the Mayflower Compact to the numerous colonial governmental
charters. There, were however, numerous compromises that had to be made to ensure ratification of
the Constitution. However, had these compromises not been made, (e.g. slavery, etc.) it is unlikely
the colonies would have come together to ratify the document, and the British may have prevailed.

African American Vernacular English (Aave)
African American Vernacular English
The United States of America is one of the world s most ethnically diverse and multicultural nations.
Even though there is not an official national language, most Americans speak Standard American
English (SAE). However, the most prevalent native English vernacular dialect in the United States
is African American Vernacular English(AAVE). According to Sharon Vaughn, AAVE is a dialect
used by some African Americans (110). In order to examine AAVE, one must explore the origins,
grammatical features, and prominent resolutions, which created a precedent for educating students
that speak dialects other than Standard American English.
For years, scholars and sociolinguist partook in debate over the ... Show more content on

Wolfram notes that double negatives are never interpreted as positives (305). An AAVE speaker
may say, Wasn t nobody in there but me and him to express that no one was in there but him and me.
The final and most recognizable trait of AAVE is the use of the habitual be. The habitual be
conveys events that happen routinely. Jack Sidnell offers several examples in African American
Vernacular English Ebonics. He illustrates, Standard English present perfect: He has been married.
AAVE been: He been married (Sidnell). In the Standard English sentence the implication is that, he
is now no longer married. However, in the AAVE sentence the implication is quite the opposite: he
is still married. The four above mentioned grammatical features are not the only rules that AAVE
speakers follow, but these rules are the most common and recognizable traits of AAVE.
As aforementioned, AAVE is the most prevalent native English vernacular in America.
Consequently, educators often encounter AAVE speakers and writers in their classrooms.
Educators must inform students that their home language is not Standard American English and
create effective classroom methods to educate non native SAE speakers. Faced with these constant
occurrences, the Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC) issued a
statement on students rights to their own language. The resolution states:

Theories about the Dissapearance of the Neanderthal Essay
The Neanderthals lived in areas ranging from Western Europe through central Asia from about
200,000 to between 36,000 and 24,000 years ago. The Neanderthals lived in groups of 30 to 50
individuals, they invented many of the tool types that were to be perfected by fully sapient
peoples, they had weapons adequate to deal with both the cave lion and cave bear, they used body
paint, buried their dead. NeanderthalMan survived through the Ice Age. They are thought to have
had fire. Neanderthals lived side by side with modern humans for over 10,000 years.
There are many theories on why the Neanderthals disappeared. Most of them involve Homo Sapiens
in one way or another, considering that the Neanderthal s extinction coincides with the early ...

Although this theory is plausible, it is not probable, considering that the Neanderthals lived in close
proximity to modern man for so long. Still, it is possible that there was a disease, which caused the
Neanderthals to die out.
The last theory states that Neanderthals were not in fact a separate species, but interbred to a
greater or lesser extent with the incoming Homo sapiens, whose genes eventually became dominant
at the eventual expense of the genes delivering Neanderthal characteristics. This hypothesis comes
from the fact that Neanderthals and Cro Magnons inhabited the same regions of Europe for
thousands of years. It is not beyond a doubt that they did come in contact with one another, possibly
even trading and communicating.
Neanderthals and modern humans became one species, through thousands of years of
interbreeding. Supporters of this theory state that some modern day Europeans have facial features
similar to Neanderthal man. Neanderthal genes may have been inserted into the human gene pool,
and Human genes may have been added to the Neanderthals. At this point, Neanderthals and
humans may have evolved together at an incredible rate, becoming one race in a relatively short
period of time. On the other hand, a disease, a war, or an increase in population causing the natural
resources to be inadequate for keeping so many hominids alive might have cut off Neanderthals
suddenly from contact with the humans,

Coffee rust disease is the greatest threat to the coffee...
Coffee rust disease is the greatest threat to the coffee industry worldwide and has the potential to
improve or hurt Brazil s economy while having a significant impact on the United States. Coffee
is second only to petroleum for exports in developing countries. Over 500 billion cups of coffee are
consumed globally each year. The worldwide coffeesupply comes primarily from Central and
South America accounting for 67 percent of production (Goldschein, 2011). Coffee rust disease is
a wind borne fungus that spreads quickly. Once infected, crop yields are significantly reduced

As the coffee industry in Brazil grew so did the infrastructure of the country. By the 1900 s
coffee made up 70 percent of exports from Brazil. The increased productivity led to an excess in
the market that coupled with diminished demand caused a Brazilian depression and created
discontent with the current political system that led to dictatorship control (E, 2008) (The
Library of Congress, 2010). With the emergence of a more democratic political system and
deregulation other crops developed as important exports. This was further encouraged by the
government due to a need to have a more diversified economy (The Library of Congress, 2010).
Even with shifting production to other crops Brazil remains an important part of the world s coffee
supply as shown in figure 1.

The Bluest Eye Research Paper
The rape of Pecola is a tragic occurrence. In The Bluest Eye, Toni Morrison focuses heavily on the
topic of her rape. Morrison shows how the rape has affected Pecola by creating a powerful and
compelling tale, allowing the reader to connect with Pecola and better empathize with her.
Morrison s stylistic choices and use of powerful language make her story even more commanding
and eye catching and further the reader s understanding of Pecola s misery and their sympathy
towards her. Morrison uses word choice and sentence structure during the scene where Pecola is
raped to emphasize the disturbing nature of the action. Morrison gives the reader a window into
Cholly s thoughts right before he penetrates her. Morrison writes, He wanted to fuck her tenderly
(Pp. 162 3). The juxtaposition of the words fuck and tenderly create a striking and disgusting
image that helps to convey the true horror of the rape. Fuck is related to violence and cruelty while

For example, Morrison does this when describing the act of Cholly raping Pecola. She writes,
We had dropped our seeds in our own little plot of black dirt just as Pecola s father had dropped
his seeds in his own plot of black dirt (Page 6). Morrison compares Pecola to a plot of black dirt
to show that Cholly treats her like he would dirt, doing anything that he wants to it. By writing
that Cholly had dropped his seeds in his own plot of black dirt , Morrison causes the reader to
more fully understand the power and horror of the rape. This wording is extremely effective in
showing how awful the rape is, because it shows Pecola as being reduced to something as
powerless and as meaningless as black dirt instead of merely stating that she was raped. In
addition, by showing how Pecola is objectified and treated awfully instead of just saying that,
Morrison is able to draw more sympathy from the

Field Experience Reflection Paper For this field experience my group have taught five different
lessons that has consisted of four different groups of students. This made it difficult to analyze
the different students work, and to know what types of problems each student typically
struggles with. Since we had different students, my group was able to pose similar problems to
different students and it allowed us to get better with our teaching. Since we used similar
problems, we were able to practice our questioning skills and get better after each lesson. Lesson
1: For the first day we only had five to ten minutes with one student named Lucas and posed the
following problem: Sarah has 78 apples. She needs to put 6 apples in each basket. How many
full baskets will she have?his student solved the problem by writing, 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42,
.... Lucas wrote all the way up to 78 and he was able to tell us that there would be 13 baskets.
That first day, I could have been better at communicating with Lucas. I should have asked at the
beginning, what do know about this problem? What are you trying to find? Do you have any
questions about the problem?. I believe that this would have helped clear up any confusion that
Lucas could have had. We also read the problem out loud, what we should have done was type it
in the chat box and then read it aloud. Big mistake on our part. Overall, Lucas was able to solve the
problem, but we could have done better with communicating to him.

Calcium Supplementation and Exercise for Osteoporosis
ABSTRACT
Osteoporosis is major concern in elderly people. Osteoporosis means porous bones in which bones
become weak and brittle. The strength of the bone decreases due to loss of bone mass and density.
Less calcium intake, sedentary lifestyle, vitamin D deficiency, hormonal imbalances are major
causes of osteoporosis. The main focus of my study is to see the combined effect of exercise and
dietary calcium uptake in osteoporotic patients. The review summarizes the role of Weight bearing
exercise, dietary calcium, and the combined effect of calcium and exercise in preventing
osteoporosis. Weight bearing exercise can improve muscle mass and strength of muscle and can

The Fall Of The Necklace
Mathilde wants a necklace for the ball but she doesn t have one so she borrows one from a friend.

The story s closing is ironic because we thought Mme. Forestier would be angry that Matilde lost

The narrator paints a mostly sympathetic picture of Mathilde. I think this because at the start it

if by an accident of fate, into a family of clerks . Later the author makes you feel bad for her by

Analysis Of Fast Car By Tracy Chapman
Music is often just a medium, utilized by artists, to paint a vivid picture in the minds of the
listener. As a listener, often you can be caught off guard by the artists ability to do so. In the song
fast car by Tracy Chapman, the incredible singer/songwriter will do just that. She will render an
image so graphic, and so dramatic, that you will swear that you were walking in the shoes of the
woman she sings about in her song. The gracefully flowing melody and emotionally evolving lyrics
transport you through an undeniably extraordinary journey of joy and sorrow, all within the
confines of a four minute and fifty nine second song.
Fast Car by Tracy Chapman is a powerful song about a young woman who is endeavoring to make
it by in life. She is living a very poor, and underprivileged lifestyle, her father is an alcoholic, and
her mother withdrew from her life to make a better life for herself. Unfortunately, that is the only
thing that this young woman wants to do, make a better life for herself. With her father being sick
and stuck to the bottle, she is forced to drop out of school and take care of him. Dreaming of
running away and starting a new life was the only thing that was keeping her going.
Within the first two verses of the song, this young woman presents an issue that is all too common
for many people. She has big dreams and wants to make a name for herself, but to succumb to
making that dream a reality, she would have to desert the loved ones that have made

How Does Legalizing Abortion Work
Does Legalization of Abortion Work?
The word abortion by definition means the induced expulsion of a fetus from the womb before it is
able to survive independently. Some country, abortion became legal because an authority thought
that the legalized abortion would be work and solve a problem in society. In the United States, the
legalized abortion was used since 1973. After legalized abortion used, there is an extremely
controversial issue because while some people are completely against it, others believe that a
woman should have the right to choose. In my opinion, the legalization of abortion should be
banned because it has increased crime rates, child abuse, furthermore, dramatically changed sexual
relationships.
The first reason why the legal abortion should be banned is it increased crime rates, instead,
reduced crime rates. In 2001 John Donohue and Steven Levitt, economists, was published a
research about the effect of legalized abortion on crime. They claimed that the legalized abortion
unexpectedly lowered crime rates and their finding indicates that crime in the United States started
to decline in 1992. Later, in 2005 Levitt and Dubner was published a ... Show more content on

Analysis Of Be Glad Your Nose Is On Your Face
Change Isn t Always for the Better Poems are the perfect mixture between the rhythmic of songs
and the structure of speeches. The theme of a poem is expressed through different literary
devices such as alliterations and rhyming techniques. Jack Prelusky s Be Glad Your Nose Is on
Your Face, is a poem that takes on a journey of different scenarios of having one s nose in
different places on the body that would not benefit them at all. He makes the point that the
placement of the nose is exactly where it should be to be most beneficial. Although the poem is
literally about a nose being on a face, Prelusky emphasizes thankfulness by using literary devices,
themes, and real life examples.
The theme of this poem is portrayed in an indirect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This also relates to real life terms that even when times get tough, they will make it through
because of the help from their permanent people in their lives. These two concepts correlate
because the nose is permanently on the face to help smell just like the permanent people in one s
life are also here to help when needed. This literary device helps the interpretation of the poem
because it sets a positive and upbeat tone to the poem, implying to be grateful and happy with what
one has. Alliteration is only applied once during the poem but, rhymes and rhyme schemes are used
persistently from start to finish.
Another literary sound device used by Prelusky is rhyming. One purpose of rhyming in poetry is to
link and draw gapping stanzas together. It also creates an overall pattern for the poem and helps
with the symmetry of the stanzas. Within his rhyming examples of having a nose in weird places,
his theme of being thankful still shows. This poem starts off with the first two stanzas ending in a
rhyme with face and place . The specific rhyme where the last words of the stanzas rhyme is called
external rhyme. Prelusky continues to use external rhymes consistently throughout the poem to
help continue the rhyme scheme. The rhyme scheme used in this poem is portrayed to make it
more musical and uplifting. The use of rhyme helps interpretation of the poem

The Indian Media Used Mother Teresa
Mother Teresa is one of the most written about and publicized women of the 20th century. She is
the second most advertised religious celebrity after Pope John Paul II. Due to her fame, many
people willingly step forward to offer their support and praise her work.
The Indian media used Mother Teresa as a figure for a movement towards bettering the lives of
those in the lower castes. They believe that if the Indian people were seeing a white, foreign
woman caring for their family and neighbors that many would take up the cause to help as well.
Mother Teresa s presence was also helpful during the political unrest of India. She was the
symbol of a better country during India s fight for independence from Britain, the separation
from Pakistan in 1947, the Civil War of 1971, and the creation of Bangladesh. Mother Teresa was
proving that one could give up one s entire life and need no material possessions and spread love
and support to all. She lived a simple life, surrounded in strong faith, while believing in the
compassion of humans.
However, not everyone believed that Mother Teresa had proven herself as a living saint. Many
people questioned her health, her mental sanity, and her work. Throughout her life, Mother Teresa
suffered from ill health. While not much is known about her childhood and her health during this
time, it is known that the Bojaxhiu family traveled each year to comfort Mother Teresa s poor
health. While in India, as a Loreto Sister, Mother Teresa became

and R. Tirouvanziam, neutrophils might not be the tight and ridged leukocytes they were previous
thought to be, rather they have a lot of elasticity when it comes to how they unfold in the tissues in
the body (Margaroli and Tirouvanziam 1). This neutrophil elasticity creates a perfect setting for
diseased microenvironments to grow in the body which is often associated with lung disease and
C.F. (Margaroli and Tirouvanziam 1). In C.F. patient s neutrophils are often over worked and there
is neutrophil activity in the body s extracellular fluid which shows the relationship between the
relationship of C.F. patients and this discovery of neutrophil activity (Margaroli and Tirouvanziam
1). This innovation can lead to more knowledge about the activity and formation on neutrophils and
show scientists more about the underlying cause and potentially a cure/solution for C.F.
Between genetics, symptoms, pathology, treatments and new innovations, one could say Cystic
Fibrosis is a loaded and complicated illness. However, C.F. effects too many people for it to be
forgotten about or underrepresented. With further research and new discoveries, every day we are
one set closer to curing this

Surgical Repair Or Reconstruct The Tympanic Membrane With...
Myringoplasty is surgery performed to repair or reconstruct the tympanic membrane with a suitable
graft material. (1)
Tympanic membrane (TM) perforation is commonly a result of middle ear infection, trauma, or a
sequelae of tympanostomy tube insertion and the remainders of traumatic perforations become
chronic and require surgical repair. (2) Without reconstruction the tympanic membrane perforation
result in hearing loss, chronic otorrhea and cholesteatoma formation. (3) These tympanic membrane
perforations can be repaired surgically use Temporalis fascia, perichondrium and cartilage are the
most common grafts which requires a general anesthesia which is often protracted and/or
hypotensive, and which can represent an unacceptable risk in older patients. (4)
Day stay surgery has become an integral part of modern otolaryngology. Myringoplasty with fat
graft under local anesthesia is a short, simple, cost effective and minimally invasive technique
compared with traditional myringoplasty. (5)

Use Of Narrative In The Princess Bride
Taylor Lane Colyer
Dr. Cossar
Final Paper
April 11, 2017
Genre and Narrative in The Princess Bride
Genre and narrative appear in all forms of film; they cannot exist without each other. Films have
some form of narrative that makes it unique for a specific genre. This is due to the way the story
is told. Depending on how the story is told the audience will generate a response to the film they
are watching. Narrative and genre are used to explain the story and plot of a film. Let s look at The
Princess Bride for example; this is a genre film that uses narrative to tell a story. Through narrative
the film is able to get a response out of the audience and the audience knows how to respond to this
particular film because of past genre and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are also action/adventure elements with the fire swamp and the pit of despair. These
different genres are what draw in such a diverse crowd. Genre theorist Rick Altman states how
genre classifications are down to the pre reading and knowledge that audiences have of texts,
before they watch a film they will know the story, characters, conventions, and mis en scene of
the genre (Altman: 1989). Audience members know they are in for a combination of a lot of
genres when they watch this film. The first ever film poster for the said Heroes, Giants, Villains,
Wizards, True love. Not just your basic, average, everyday, ordinary, run of the mill, ho hum
fairytale. The film brings in a very diverse crowd, because it contains so many genres. Not
everybody likes story s about true love and not everybody likes story s about wizards and giants,
so why not put them all together. I know several older men who love this film and I also know
several young women my age who love this film just as much. The great thing about this film in
particular is that the audience might think they have a pre determined answer as to what will
happen in the end, but due to the multitude of genres it causes the audience to question themselves
and form hypotheses.
Film theorist Erlend Lavik tells us that, practically all films contain gaps that the audience must fill
in. Seeking order and coherence, we instinctively make hypotheses about what is going to happen

Apocalypse Now Vietnam War
Apocalypse Now took place during the Vietnam War and is directed by Frances Ford Coppola.
In this film he went above and beyond to show the mental impact war has on it s military. The US
militaries involvement in the film shows very intense situations. The US has no mercy. They were
in Vietnam working on taking total and complete control. Sadly, they didn t really know what they
were doing or who was in command. For example Captain Benjamin L. Willard, often found
himself searching for answers but everything is a mess. Soldiers were randomly shooting at
unknown things. The US military is confused but still followed their orders. The effects of war on
military soldiers, post traumatic stress disorder cause the soldiers to have mental breakdowns...

When surrounded by it, the mental drama is very extreme and hard to recover from it. It
eventually takes over Willard. For example, they would paint their faces with mud which to me
it symbolizes no fear. Captain Willard was able to take over the situation and execute Colonel
Walter E. Kurtz. Charging a man with murder in this place was like handing out speeding tickets
in the Indy 500 what I like most about this quote is that its real. Obviously drivers in the Indy
500 are expected to speed. This cruel war expects men to commit murder on a daily basis. This
quote sums up how nasty the Vietnam War was. This led to one of the highest causalities from
any war in history. Some of the lessons we ve learned are almost identical from our past wars to
our present. Almost all wars are unpopular with the homeland but a need for our country to remain
safe and free. Both Vietnam and our involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan caused many young
Americans to die fighting for their country. Anytime we have people in harms way it makes for
many people questioning why we went to war. This was demonstrated throughout many scenes in
the movie. Whether you are for or against the war the outcome in all confrontation has resulted in
America being a safer place and our freedom has never been

Mister Sparky electricians in Huntsville, AL can provide the electrical outlet and/or extra circuits
you need for holiday decorating with less extension cords. In fact, the reduced need for electricity
by LED lighting is an additional reason to change to them. You may not need additional circuits
when you change to LED lights, although chances are you can use additional outlets.
Converting Incandescent Decorations to LED
Decorations with snap in lighting can potentially be exchanged with LED light strands depending
on the number of lights required. However, if you can find the appropriate plastic fasteners for the
lights that will attach to the existing decorations, you can exchange them even when you need a 25
light strand but only have a 50 light strand. You have the option of adding more lights where there
are none or following the same pattern by alternating the light strands.

Introduction Of Internet Based Procurement Essay
The term e procurement gained popularity around the year 2000. Emergence of the two competitors
Ariba and Commerce One, companies that specialized in the support of electronic procurement for
MRO products, changed the way indirect MRO spend used to be looked upon. Introduction of
internet based procurement applications prompted a change from a centrally organized procurement
(central buying) department to desktop procurement environment, where the employee in need of a
product would initiate the purchase transaction electronically. With these two trends, decentralized
purchasing and multi vendor catalogues , the conduit toward electronic support of the MRO buying
process was paved. Thus, over the period, spend analysts have started observing carefully, to
increase spend under management and implement better control over tail spend in order to reduce
the amount of fulfilling formalities and time consumed in procuring these products.
Understanding E Procurement in the MRO space
With the advent of Internet technology in the area of MRO, the procurement of indirect material
such as office supplies and services also became feasible for electronic support. Indirect
procurement is based on ad hoc activities which are difficult to put into an electronically supported
workflow. Since the products needed in this area are less frequently bought and usually of low
value, companies shy away from maintaining material master data for indirect products. The study

Compare the political leaders profiled in Susan Lawrence s article The New Guard: Five
Younger Officials Make Their Way to the Top . According to Lawrence (1998), the future of
China will largely depend on its top leaders. Their priorities, reputations, and ability to get local
officials and society at large to support their policies will shape the course of future events. At the
vanguard of the group of up and coming leaders is Hu Jintao, who joined the Communist Party s
most senior body, the seven man politburo Standing Committee, at the age of 49 in 1992.
These new leaders are united in their commitment to ensuring the primacy of the Communist Party
and to implementing market oriented economic reform. Trained as engineers ... Show more content

In 1998, Wen became both a politburo member and a vice premier. As a geologist, Wen oversaw a
raft of big issues including agriculture, poverty relief, forestry and water resources. During this
time, Wen was named to head the party s new Central Work Commission of Finance. In that
position, Wen is leading a critically important overhaul and recapitalization of China s troubled
banks, working to clean up and stabilize the country s volatile securities market, and supervising a
far reaching reorganization of the Ministry of Finance (Lawrence, 1998, p. 572).
Wu Bangguo, 57, was appointed to oversee the state enterprise reform when the party
established the Work Commission on Finance. Wen had won high marks for his work in the
financial sector, but foreign observers were less impressed with Wu s leadership. Wu was a
former Shanghai party chief who studied radio electronics at Qinghua University. As a deputy
party chief of Shanghai from 1985 to 1991, he served for a period under the party chief Jiang, and
alongside, and then under Zhu, thus Wu was a familiar colleague who they know would be loyal

Contribution Of An Ethnographic Research On Friendship
Throughout this essay I will be evaluating the contribution of an ethnographic approach to research
on friendship. I will be looking at, and including evidence to support both sides of the argument as
to whether or not this research method is in fact useful when it comes to gaining knowledge about
friendship. As well as evaluating this method, I will compare it against others to reflect on the
strengths, weaknesses and the typical data collected. I will look at some of the questions about
friendship that have been addressed, and then whether this is the best method or if there are others
that could have been more suitable.
Ethnography is a qualitative method of research in which the researcher takes part in the activities
of a group such that they are able to complete their observations over a period of time in a natural,
real life environment.
When it comes to investigating friendship, one question that has been raised is what is the role
of friendship in the life of a 13 year old? . Several sources of data include ethnographic notes
taken whilst spending time with a group of friends during school lunch breaks and diary/blog
entries etc. Firstly, in this case the researcher would need to carefully consider the strengths and
weaknesses of each type of data, for example, when looking at a blog the information/data
available is likely to be information that the author wants to share with a wider audience whereas a
diary entry is more private. In this case, both documents

Scapegoat Research Paper
A scapegoat is someone or something that receives all the blame for when something goes
wrong. Scapegoats have been humanity s way of pointing the finger and ignoring any
wrongdoing that may have led to a failure. No one ever wants to take responsibility when a
failure occurs, but there s always someone around to take the glory if success is achieved.
Historically speaking, scapegoats were more of a reason people used to do bad things. Hitler,
for instance, used the Jewish religion and people who practiced it in his country as his
scapegoat for trying to achieve domination. No one wants to gain the responsibility and criticism
that comes with failure, but appointing a scapegoat seems to be the easy way of dealing with it.
In ancient societies, scapegoats were very popular and there were even specific animals and
people who would be sacrificed if something went wrong. I think that was done more as part of
religious practice, but the idea of a scapegoat taking the blamestill stands. The people would most
likely have been criminals or problematic people in the society and who would easily be accepted
as a scapegoat for any failures experienced. As time continued, scapegoats were not as... Show more

on past presidents. The list of things we blame is far longer than this, but the idea is the same:
point the finger and reveal flaws but also do nothing about what is seen. The purpose of a
scapegoat nowadays is simple, they are the person to blame when things aren t going the way the
general public likes, but nothing besides harsh words and what has been done wrong is

It may lead boys and girls into developing varying sets of abilities including cognitive, emotional and social skills that allow children to become prepared for future endeavours (Auster Mansbach, 2012). There have been many race riots throughout history that have influenced future actions towards African Americans. The anti African American was a process of assimilation for immigrants who felt that being against African Americans was a way to adopt the values of the dominant American culture and to be seen as American and not as an immigrant. One way to adopt the values of the dominant culture was to believe in racial segregation. • 5. Freud s Interpretation Of Dreams Research Paper Sigmund Freud was undoubtedly one of the most influential people in the development of thought during the 20th century. His theory that our minds guard memories and emotions in our subconscious transformed the way humans studied the human mind. Freud said that throughout history there were three great humiliations. The discovery of Galileo that we are not the center of the Universe. The discovery of Darwin, that we are not the crown of creation. And his own discovery, that we do not control our own mind. One of Freud s most important discoveries is that emotions buried in the subconscious surface rise to the conscious surface during dreams and that remembering fragments of dreams can help to uncover buried emotions and memories. Throughout his well known work, The Interpretation of Dreams, Freud uses his own dreams as examples to demonstrate his theory on the psychology of dreams. Freud distinguishes between the ... The Road is a post apocalyptic novel where a father and son have nothing but the dirty clothes on their backs, a pistol and a cart filled with scavenged items. Their destination, the coast, although they don t know if anything awaits them there. The Island is an advanced world where clones of real people are made in order to help their clients live longer. The boy was lying in his lap with no expression on his face at all (McCarthy, pg. 66). In other words, the boy was so shocked by the situation he was in; this caused him to change his attitude towards strangers. In the same manner The Island has important character development that causes the protagonists to change their behaviours. For instance, when Jordan Two Delta and Lincoln Six Echo escaped and went to Tom Lincoln s house. In this scene there was an altercation that resulted in the client Tom Lincoln dying, which was a great example of how the characters developed. After this scene the protagonist realized how careless and willing they were to hurt others in order to get the clones back to the facility. The scene allowed the protagonist Lincoln Six Echo to develop and take extra precautions to maintain safety. Six Echo would always be on his toes; look back every so often, and though through his plans. This leads into the theme that is related to brute force which is that people will do anything to survive. The theme that is comparable to this dystopian characteristic is that individuals will do whatever they can to survive. In the movie the actor Steve Buscemi who is Lincoln s friend says this to ... Also called dynamic energy therapy, it boosts energy fields in the body, which in turn strengthens the immune system and enhances the body s healing capacity. According to Trick Or Treatment : The Undeniable Facts about Alternative Medicineby Simon Singh, Edzard Ernst, The therapy works by sending invisible and soundless energy waves into the body via key points the hands, feet, back of the neck, chest, shoulder and abdomen. A central machine stores different programmes for enhancing different parts of the body or body systems for example, there are programmes for the kidneys, the endocrine system, the digestion, the eyes, the legs and the circulation. Patients sit in a comfortable chair and the energy is fed into the body via a flat metal plate known as an enhancer. Some patients feel a warmth spreading from the plate, others say they feel no sensation. Laboratory tests have shown that once the energy is passed into the body differences can be found in the brain waves; patients report feeling relaxed and later energized. In reality, a pleasing exterior view does not ensure people will be attracted to the particular heritage building. It is the story behind the heritage building that gives meaning to both building and people. As a heritage building, the building itself has been passed the test of time and becomes a typical landmark for a city. Hence, the story of the building explained its architecture style and structure which makes it be a remarkable building. For instance, Sultan Abdul Samad Building (SASB) has a unique architectural design which is the mixture of several architectural styles. Second, the obscurity of Narnia s entrance suggests that such journeys cannot be sought out or forced, but rather will present themselves at places and times we least expect. Finally, the use of an ordinary wardrobe as the portal to Narnia makes Lewis s readers consider what fantastic journeys В– physical or otherwise В– may lay within the ordinariness of everyday existence. Another of Narnia s key characteristics is that its inhabitants revere and depend upon the children. At their temporary home in England, the children are unsupervised and irrelevant. The development of sharecropping was associated with the endless debt cycles that afflicted the entire South well into the twentieth century. The freedmen endured an economic status likened to peonage, (Bowles, 2011) in addition to having their hopes for political and social equality dashed. The entire South suffered, it was the freedmen who paid the highest price. Ignorant and impoverished, they were easy targets for exploitation by landlords (Bowles, 2011) and merchants alike; moreover, their options were limited by the overt racism in the South, legal restrictions and partiality. Sharecropping resulted from the intense explicit or implicit desire of white Southerners to keep blacks subservient to them. African Americans possessed few skills, and those they did possess related almost exclusively to agricultural production; they owned no property but the clothes on their backs; (Bowles, 2011) Many dreamed of forty acres and a mule with which to begin life anew as an integrated part of American society and the proprietor of one s own land. This document formed the bases for the U.S. government and defined the three main sections: Executive, Legislative and Judicial. We must remember, too, that the idea of this constitution of removing ties to a monarchy and setting up a separate government by the people, for the people, was a very radical idea in the 18th century and had a background not only in the various documents from the Mayflower Compact to the numerous colonial governmental charters. There, were however, numerous compromises that had to be made to ensure ratification of the Constitution. Even though there is not an official national language, most Americans speak Standard American English (SAE). However, the most prevalent native English vernacular dialect in the United States is African American Vernacular English(AAVE). According to Sharon Vaughn, AAVE is a dialect used by some African Americans (110). In order to examine AAVE, one must explore the origins, grammatical features, and prominent resolutions, which created a precedent for educating students that speak dialects other than Standard American English. An AAVE speaker may say, Wasn t nobody in there but me and him to express that no one was in there but him and me. The final and most recognizable trait of AAVE is the use of the habitual be. The habitual be conveys events that happen routinely. Jack Sidnell offers several examples in African American Vernacular English Ebonics. He illustrates, Standard English present perfect: He has been married. AAVE been: He been married (Sidnell). In the Standard English sentence the implication is that, he is now no longer married. However, in the AAVE sentence the implication is quite the opposite: he is still married. The four above mentioned grammatical features are not the only rules that AAVE speakers follow, but these rules are the most common and recognizable traits of AAVE. As aforementioned, AAVE is the most prevalent native English vernacular in America. Consequently, educators often encounter AAVE speakers and writers in their classrooms. Educators must inform students that their home language is not Standard American English and create effective classroom methods to educate non native SAE speakers. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although this theory is plausible, it is not probable, considering that the Neanderthals lived in close proximity to modern man for so long. Still, it is possible that there was a disease, which caused the Neanderthals to die out. The last theory states that Neanderthals were not in fact a separate species, but interbred to a greater or lesser extent with the incoming Homo sapiens, whose genes eventually became dominant at the eventual expense of the genes delivering Neanderthal characteristics. This hypothesis comes from the fact that Neanderthals and Cro Magnons inhabited the same regions of Europe for thousands of years. It is not beyond a doubt that they did come in contact with one another, possibly even trading and communicating. Neanderthals and modern humans became one species, through thousands of years of interbreeding. Supporters of this theory state that some modern day Europeans have facial features similar to Neanderthal man. Neanderthal genes may have been inserted into the human gene pool, and Human genes may have been added to the Neanderthals. At this point, Neanderthals and humans may have evolved together at an incredible rate, becoming one race in a relatively short period of time. Morrison s stylistic choices and use of powerful language make her story even more commanding and eye catching and further the reader s understanding of Pecola s misery and their sympathy towards her. Morrison uses word choice and sentence structure during the scene where Pecola is raped to emphasize the disturbing nature of the action. Morrison gives the reader a window into Cholly s thoughts right before he penetrates her. Morrison writes, He wanted to fuck her tenderly (Pp. 162 3). How many full baskets will she have?his student solved the problem by writing, 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, .... I should have asked at the beginning, what do know about this problem? What are you trying to find? Do you have any questions about the problem?. I believe that this would have helped clear up any confusion that Lucas could have had. We also read the problem out loud, what we should have done was type it in the chat box and then read it aloud. She is the second most advertised religious celebrity after Pope John Paul II. Due to her fame, many people willingly step forward to offer their support and praise her work. The Indian media used Mother Teresa as a figure for a movement towards bettering the lives of those in the lower castes. They believe that if the Indian people were seeing a white, foreign woman caring for their family and neighbors that many would take up the cause to help as well. Mother Teresa s presence was also helpful during the political unrest of India. She was the symbol of a better country during India s fight for independence from Britain, the separation from Pakistan in 1947, the Civil War of 1971, and the creation of Bangladesh. Mother Teresa was proving that one could give up one s entire life and need no material possessions and spread love and support to all. She lived a simple life, surrounded in strong faith, while believing in the compassion of humans. However, not everyone believed that Mother Teresa had proven herself as a living saint. Many people questioned her health, her mental sanity, and her work. Throughout her life, Mother Teresa suffered from ill health. While not much is known about her childhood and her health during this time, it is known that the Bojaxhiu family traveled each year to comfort Mother Teresa s poor health. While in India, as a Loreto Sister, Mother Teresa became ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. The Benefits Of Cystic Fibrosis Oftentimes, the first thing that comes to mind when someone mentions an inherited genetic disease is cancer, or even diabetes. However, there are hundreds and thousands of other inherited diseases that effect millions of people each year but are over looked or underrepresented for various reasons. An example of one of these disease is Cystic Fibrosis(CF). There is not much popularity associated with Cystic Fibrosis because there s limited research on the topic. However, according to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, C.F. is a genetic disease that is essentially a severe cold that never goes away. Mucus builds up in the lungs as well as the pancreas and can impair a persons breathing capabilities (About Cystic Fibrosis 1). Cystic fibrosis is a... Tirouvanziam, neutrophils might not be the tight and ridged leukocytes they were previous thought to be, rather they have a lot of elasticity when it comes to how they unfold in the tissues in the body (Margaroli and Tirouvanziam 1). This neutrophil elasticity creates a perfect setting for diseased microenvironments to grow in the body which is often associated with lung disease and C.F. (Margaroli and Tirouvanziam 1). In C.F. patient s neutrophils are often over worked and there is neutrophil activity in the body s extracellular fluid which shows the relationship between the relationship of C.F. patients and this discovery of neutrophil activity (Margaroli and Tirouvanziam 1). This innovation can lead to more knowledge about the activity and formation on neutrophils and show scientists more about the underlying cause and potentially a cure/solution for C.F. Between genetics, symptoms, pathology, treatments and new innovations, one could say Cystic Fibrosis is a loaded and complicated illness. However, C.F. effects too many people for it to be forgotten about or underrepresented. With further research and new discoveries, every day we are one set closer to curing this ... • 44. Use Of Narrative In The Princess Bride Taylor Lane Colyer Dr. Cossar Final Paper April 11, 2017 Genre and Narrative in The Princess Bride Genre and narrative appear in all forms of film; they cannot exist without each other. Films have some form of narrative that makes it unique for a specific genre. This is due to the way the story is told. Depending on how the story is told the audience will generate a response to the film they are watching. Narrative and genre are used to explain the story and plot of a film. Let s look at The Princess Bride for example; this is a genre film that uses narrative to tell a story. Through narrative the film is able to get a response out of the audience and the audience knows how to respond to this particular film because of past genre and ... Genre theorist Rick Altman states how genre classifications are down to the pre reading and knowledge that audiences have of texts, before they watch a film they will know the story, characters, conventions, and mis en scene of the genre (Altman: 1989). Audience members know they are in for a combination of a lot of genres when they watch this film. The first ever film poster for the said Heroes, Giants, Villains, Wizards, True love. Not just your basic, average, everyday, ordinary, run of the mill, ho hum fairytale. The film brings in a very diverse crowd, because it contains so many genres. Not everybody likes story s about true love and not everybody likes story s about wizards and giants, so why not put them all together. I know several older men who love this film and I also know several young women my age who love this film just as much. The great thing about this film in particular is that the audience might think they have a pre determined answer as to what will happen in the end, but due to the multitude of genres it causes the audience to question themselves and form hypotheses. Film theorist Erlend Lavik tells us that, practically all films contain gaps that the audience must fill in. Seeking order and coherence, we instinctively make hypotheses about what is going to happen (and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this film he went above and beyond to show the mental impact war has on it s military. The US militaries involvement in the film shows very intense situations. The US has no mercy. They were in Vietnam working on taking total and complete control. Sadly, they didn t really know what they were doing or who was in command. For example Captain Benjamin L. Charging a man with murder in this place was like handing out speeding tickets in the Indy 500 what I like most about this quote is that its real. Obviously drivers in the Indy 500 are expected to speed. This cruel war expects men to commit murder on a daily basis. This quote sums up how nasty the Vietnam War was. This led to one of the highest causalities from any war in history. Some of the lessons we ve learned are almost identical from our past wars to our present. Almost all wars are unpopular with the homeland but a need for our country to remain safe and free. Both Vietnam and our involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan caused many young Americans to die fighting for their country. Anytime we have people in harms way it makes for many people questioning why we went to war. This was demonstrated throughout many scenes in the movie. • 47. Introduction Of Internet Based Procurement Essay The term e procurement gained popularity around the year 2000. Emergence of the two competitors Ariba and Commerce One, companies that specialized in the support of electronic procurement for MRO products, changed the way indirect MRO spend used to be looked upon. Introduction of internet based procurement applications prompted a change from a centrally organized procurement (central buying) department to desktop procurement environment, where the employee in need of a product would initiate the purchase transaction electronically. With these two trends, decentralized purchasing and multi vendor catalogues , the conduit toward electronic support of the MRO buying process was paved. Thus, over the period, spend analysts have started observing carefully, to increase spend under management and implement better control over tail spend in order to reduce the amount of fulfilling formalities and time consumed in procuring these products. Understanding E Procurement in the MRO space With the advent of Internet technology in the area of MRO, the procurement of indirect material such as office supplies and services also became feasible for electronic support. Indirect procurement is based on ad hoc activities which are difficult to put into an electronically supported workflow. Since the products needed in this area are less frequently bought and usually of low value, companies shy away from maintaining material master data for indirect products. According to Lawrence (1998), the future of China will largely depend on its top leaders. Their priorities, reputations, and ability to get local officials and society at large to support their policies will shape the course of future events. At the vanguard of the group of up and coming leaders is Hu Jintao, who joined the Communist Party s most senior body, the seven man politburo Standing Committee, at the age of 49 in 1992. In that position, Wen is leading a critically important overhaul and recapitalization of China s troubled banks, working to clean up and stabilize the country s volatile securities market, and supervising a far reaching reorganization of the Ministry of Finance (Lawrence, 1998, p. 572). • 49. Contribution Of An Ethnographic Research On Friendship Throughout this essay I will be evaluating the contribution of an ethnographic approach to research on friendship. I will be looking at, and including evidence to support both sides of the argument as to whether or not this research method is in fact useful when it comes to gaining knowledge about friendship. As well as evaluating this method, I will compare it against others to reflect on the strengths, weaknesses and the typical data collected. I will look at some of the questions about friendship that have been addressed, and then whether this is the best method or if there are others that could have been more suitable. Ethnography is a qualitative method of research in which the researcher takes part in the activities of a group such that they are able to complete their observations over a period of time in a natural, real life environment. When it comes to investigating friendship, one question that has been raised is what is the role of friendship in the life of a 13 year old? . Several sources of data include ethnographic notes taken whilst spending time with a group of friends during school lunch breaks and diary/blog entries etc. Firstly, in this case the researcher would need to carefully consider the strengths and weaknesses of each type of data, for example, when looking at a blog the information/data available is likely to be information that the author wants to share with a wider audience whereas a diary entry is more private. In this case, both documents ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. Scapegoat Research Paper A scapegoat is someone or something that receives all the blame for when something goes wrong. Scapegoats have been humanity s way of pointing the finger and ignoring any wrongdoing that may have led to a failure. No one ever wants to take responsibility when a failure occurs, but there s always someone around to take the glory if success is achieved. Historically speaking, scapegoats were more of a reason people used to do bad things. Hitler, for instance, used the Jewish religion and people who practiced it in his country as his scapegoat for trying to achieve domination. No one wants to gain the responsibility and criticism that comes with failure, but appointing a scapegoat seems to be the easy way of dealing with it. In ancient societies, scapegoats were very popular and there were even specific animals and people who would be sacrificed if something went wrong. I think that was done more as part of religious practice, but the idea of a scapegoat taking the blamestill stands. The people would most likely have been criminals or problematic people in the society and who would easily be accepted as a scapegoat for any failures experienced. As time continued, scapegoats were not as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Our lack of natural resources is put on the people who don t have the money to use something else.
