San Diego Zoo Research Paper
Did you choose your destination for this summer? It are you prepared everything you need for the
trip? What is your favorite place? How can I choose the best place for tourism? What language does
that country speak? These are the hardest questions for many people in the summer time. First of all,
what does tourism mean? Tourism is an activity carried out by any person or group of people who are
going from one place to another or from one country to another in order to visit a particular place or
several places. Tourism can used for entertainment or relaxation and to learn new information about
other cultures (Lundberg 4).
In addition, there are many types of tourism around the word. For example, religious tourism, medical

Capital Punishment in the Work of George Orwell, H.L. Mencken, and Norman Mailer
Capital punishment in the essays by George Orwell, H.L. Mencken, and Norman Mailer was a
necessary evil to deter crime. These authors incorporated the use of alcohol or drugs as mind altering
chemicals to relieve the pressures of the characters involved in death due to capital punishment.
Chemicals such as drugs and alcohol can be used for the pleasure of relieving stress, a means to forget,
or a way to subdue personal beliefs as the authors have illustrated. The pleasure of relieving stress in
George Orwell s essay A Hanging was detailed by his thoughts written as one of the executioners. This
character drank alcohol to relieve ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The uses of mind altering chemicals, H.L. Mencken s essay Hangings I have Known illustrates the
repression of memory using a young journalist precisely eighteen years, ten months and sixteen days
old (pg 92) when he witnesses his first execution as a reporter. He narrates the inebriated state of the
sheriff whose responsibility it was to spring the trap . (pg 92) The sheriff s drinking was to diminish
mental anguish he put on himself to a point where he became virtually helpless, the other sheriffs
would help pull the trap, but the sheriff was quite unable to tie the knot, bind the candidate, or carry on
with the other duties under his responsibility . (pg 92) After the hangings the sheriff was assisted out
of the jail yard by his deputies, and departed at once for Atlantic City, where he dug in for a week of
nightmare (pg 92). The sheriff was written as a person not able to accept the act of capital punishment
or his memories so he attempts to suppress them with alcohol.
The final use of chemicals was by Gary Gilmore in Norman Mailer s essay Let s Do It to suppress his
personal beliefs. Unable to say anything profound to the warden due to the amount of

King James Version New Living Translation
In reading the King James Version, New American bible, and new living translation, each of these
translations in my opinion show no significant difference in reading Genesis 2. Each translation gives
a good description of how God created the heavens and the earth and explaining the Sabbath.
Although each translation is clear and understandable, I believe the King James Version is more
transparent to those who will read it. These translations do not make a difference in understanding of
the true exegesis. The translations are conveying the same thing but just using different wording. All
of these versions are translated from different sources and some words might transfer over to different
meaning. I think it would matter if these translations

Argumentative Speech On Phobias
Maddy: Welcome back guys! You are listening to Maddy in the Morning on Kiss 108. For those of
you that just tuned in, we are here today with Luan, a brilliant undergrad student from Salem State
University and he is going to talk to us about this new and upcoming research project that he is
conducting on phobias. PHOBIAS!!! WOOOO!!! Pretty spooky, right? And with Halloween just
around the corner, you couldn t have picked a better timing for it.
Luan: Haha I know, right!? It seemed like the perfect timing for it.
Maddy: So tell me about this project of yours; what is it exactly?
Luan: Well one of my courses required students to pick a topic that really interested them to write
about during the semester. It s going to be a pretty long project, so the topic was really important. I
wanted to write and explore about something that was intriguing yet feasible and phobias really hit the
sweet spot. Not to mention that I always have been fascinated by them...
Maddy: Yeah, it really is a great topic. Now I know that people link phobias with fear. Is that really
what a phobia is? Just fear?
Luan: A lot of people think that Maddy. But according to the American Psychology Association, all
phobias are anxiety disorders, lumped in the same class as post traumatic stress disorder and panic
disorder, among others. And anxiety disorders are, fundamentally, based on fear. But this does not
mean that phobias equal fear.
Maddy: So does this mean that even though my mother in law scares me to

Mildred Gillars Propaganda
During World War II, radio was heavily used for propaganda purposes. Most of the time governments
aimed it at their own citizens, but some countries used it to send false and inaccurate messages to
opposition. In 1940, Germany used radio 24/7 all around the world and in many different languages as
an instrument of policy, ideology, and propaganda. Their efforts to relate to American citizens were
truly unsuccessful until a failed Broadway actress from Ohio Mildred Gillars accepted a job offer from
the German state radio division. For approximately three years, Gillars was a part of various types of
German radio shows that aimed at undermining American soldiers morale and made her one of the
most notorious and controversial American personalities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Did Structural Functionalism Contribute To The...
Structural functionalists view the family as a unit that meets the need of its members. When the family
functions well, it contributes to the stability of society. Marriage is viewed as a mutually satisfying
arrangement between 2 members of the opposite gender. Traditional gender roles are carried out with
the man being the financial and status provider in a family, and the woman performing household
duties, providing emotional and sexual support, and raising the children. Structural functionalists feel
that these traditional roles make for a strong family unit, in which the children grow up to become
well functioning members of society.
Rapid social change does not win favor in the structural functionalist theory. Trends such as single
parent households, divorce, and most certainly same sex couples are seen as major contributors to the
breakdown of the family. Of course, the functionalist perspective does not take into account the
realities of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They believe the inequities of traditional marital roles carry over into society and encourage the
continuance of social inequality. Because the family, in most societies, is patriarchal, it is viewed as
contributing to the inequality between the sexes. Having definite gender roles sets up the comparison
of work done by the husband (often valued higher because it brings in the salary) versus work done by
the wife in the home. Conflict theorists further believe that [the family unit] works toward the
continuance of social inequality within a society by maintaining and reinforcing the status quo by
maintaining wealth and privilege within the unit. In this way, members are able to keep their social
status while poor families are denied this privilege

Hazzard s A Thousand Naked Strangers
This world is full of many uncertainties. Some are pleasant surprises, while others become life altering
tragedies. Kevin Hazzard portrays this instability in his book A Thousand Naked Strangers, which
recalls his unimaginable, insane encounters as an EMT and paramedic in Atlanta, Georgia. During his
years of working on an emergency vehicle, witnessed pain and suffering, but also beauty and freedom.
He claims that the chaos and unpredictability is what made his job worth doing. Just as Hazzard s job
shows how disaster brings about freedom and beauty, art conveys this relationship in a similar way.

As a child, Beethoven s father pushed him past his limits to be a musician. The young boy s neighbors
accounted for hearing weeping while he played the clavier, standing atop a footstool to reach the keys,
his father beating him for each hesitation or mistake ( Ludwig ). He was flogged on a near daily basis
and locked in the cellar and deprived of sleep for extra hours of practice ( Ludwig ). Due to the
inhuman amount of hours he spent playing music, Beethoven began showing flashes of the creative
imagination that would eventually reach farther than any composer s before or since ( Ludwig ). He
composed a piece entitled Cantata on the Death of Emperor Joseph II, which is now considered his
earliest masterpiece. In the early 1800s, Beethoven went deaf. This is an utter travesty for any
musician, but Beethoven persevered and created some of his best work. His pieces No. 3 8, the
Moonlight Sonata, the Kreutzer violin sonata and Fidelio are an astonishing output of superlatively
complex, original and beautiful music that remain unrivaled by any other composer in history (
Ludwig ). Along with being deaf, Beethoven struggled with anger management, absent mindedness,
greed, and paranoia. He channeled such mental obstacles and his deafness to create brilliant,
revolutionary masterpieces that triumph unchallenged

Moll Flanders And Sexism In Literature
The appearance of women in 18th Century literary works, was on the rise. Women were side
characters early novels and often used by authors as a device to portray virtue and innocence to the
public. To set a standard of what an modest woman of this time period should stand for and how they
should interact with others. Women used as main protagonist faced great challenges and went to great
lengths to protect their virtue from the inappropriate touch of men. These women were wives with
maternal instincts, who wanted nothing more than to marry for love and have rooms filled with
children and expensive dresses only adding to the sexist stigma that oppressed the women of this time
period. Daniel Defoe decided to set himself apart from these clique novels and take on the flipped role
of critiquing this sexism with his novel the fortunes and misfortunes of the famous Moll Flanders. As
one of this period may see his novel as a place of sentiment with quick witted humor and a good
adventure novel, others and literary critics today see it as a critique itself on the sexism of the time
period. This was later confirmed to be the intended purpose in his work essay, his goal was to show
women in a different light, to make them understand the world (p.292). In his fictional tale of the life
of moll flanders, Defoe sheds light on several issues involving the oppression of women which often
went unnoticed by society, Through this novel, defoe weaves in critiques on the strict enforcement of

Lianyungang China Book Report
Life and times working in Lianyungang China
Many Americans are currently working in China, about 70,000 in mainland China alone. Most are in
the medical or education field and are in the larger, more Westernized cities such as Beijing or
Shanghai. My story is a little different. Mine is one of a FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastics)
inspector for FSE (Fiberglass Structural Engineering). The simplest way to explain to most people not
in the industry is to refer to it simply as Fiberglass Inspector (and NO not the pick stuff in your attic). I
was working at a facility located in Lianyungang which is located in the Jiangsu province of Eastern
China. Located about halfway between Beijing and Shanghai. Lianyungang is mostly an industrial
city. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I started researching what the local attractions were. I read about a famous story that was written by
Mr. Wu Cheng en in Ming Dynasty, Journey to the West, which is originated in Lianyungang. Part of
this story takes place on Huanguo mountain. Huanguo mountain was located not very far from where I
was staying. As it appears in the book it is a mountain inhabited by demons and monkeys. And while
there are a few monkeys to be found along the way, demons were (thankfully) notable in their
absence. In my journey to the top of the mountain I found many interesting things to see. There were
temples, homes, and wonderful scenery. Once I reached the top of the mountain there was a statue.
The best interpretation I got was that it was equal to what we would refer to as an angel. It had many
ribbons tied to it. The ribbons are tied to the symbol by a person asking for good fortune. There was
also a centralized monument that many young people were stilling under playing some sort of card
game. Off to the side there was a marker that marked the very top of the mountain. As I was admiring
the marker I felt a tap on my shoulder. It was a young girl, probably around 18 or 19. She was with a
couple friends. She asked, in broken English if she and her friends may take a picture with me. I said
of course you can. It was then that I realized that not only was I admiring all the attractions, I became
one. Once I was done with the picture session I found an older gentleman that had a monkey. As I
approached him he pointed at my cell phone and was giving me a take a picture gesture. He proceeded
to place the monkey on my hand a take a picture. I tipped him went on my way. This was one of the
most amazing days that I was in

Personal Ethical Argument
The set of personal ethical principles which I live by are comprised of a belief in absolute right and
wrong, man s duty to obey God, and also his duty to love his neighbor as himself; each of these
principles were formed by a Faith in God and in the Bible. The principle of absolute right and wrong
was constructed through understanding that if right and wrong were contingent on man s opinions and
attitudes, then both laws and guidelines would become pointless. Furthermore, God shows that right
and wrong are absolute and not contingent on man when He states His warning, Woe unto them that
call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for
sweet, and sweet for bitter! (Isaiah 5:20). In addition to this principle, I also came to believe that man
is called to obey God for several reasons: He is all powerful, He created man to give Himself glory,
and He desires what is best for us. Like the two previous ethical principles, loving one s neighbor as
himself, was constructed out of a faith in God and in His infallible Word. Man is called to perform this
practice because, as the Bible states, God ... first loved us. (1 John 4:19) ... Show more content on

Furthermore, one also may improve in identifying which actions are right and wrong in moral
dilemmas. An example of this would be when I considered quitting my youth group band. Although I
loved my role in the group, it was wrong for me to continue; it was hypocritical to be in a leadership
role with an unclean heart. By understanding that right and wrong are absolute, I knew that it did not
matter if it was me or another person, it was wrong. Because of this reality, I quit the band until I
became right with

Similarly, Putnam (1995) argues that civic engagement generates in the community a sense of

through his word choice, tone, and vivid imagery. Using a destitute tone consistently throughout the
first stanza, Owen creates a specific atmosphere. Giving objects life through extensive personification,
and comparing them through many similes. Owen also gives us a clear depiction of how he saw war,
being a soldier himself against the backdrop of WWI, Owen had a strong opposition to war and
suffered himself from shell shock. A portion of his poem in the last stanza is a direct reference to
Jessie Pope, a pro war poet. In the first stanza, the entire tone is dreary and completely void of any

Department 19 Villains
Essay English
Through the study of the three texts; Department 19 by Will Hill, Macbeth the play and The Social
Network by David Fincher, it is evident that literary villains are archetypes that often represent the
evil side of human nature. One may argue that each villain has certain traits that allow the reader to be
drawn to the terror and horror of their deeds yet also allow readers to reflect upon the society that has
created such individuals. Authors stray their villains from the stereotype to keep the modern audience
engaged.
Often the physical appearance can define the villain, as it can be the most appealing and revealing area

tears out the tongue of his servant, without dismay. Alexandru is well educated this can be seen in his
manner when speaking; We haven t been introduced, it said, favouring her with a dazzling smile of

As demonstrated in these texts there are different ways that villains can be represented. In the post
modern age often the role of villain is not as clear cut and the morality and ethical outcomes of the
characters actions are represented as ambiguous. In a text such as The Social Network by David
Fincher many relationships inverse and promises are broken. Finch almost leaves it for the audience to

villain into the theme and provide additional dimensions. In the Social Network, Mark

Profit Dale Research Paper
Profit Dale is the most pompous person I ever met. He exaggerates everything he does to make him
seem like this great person. Don t get me wrong he literally has the I.Q. of 160+, which is the
equivalent of Einstein. The problem is not that he has it. It is that he lets everyone know. Profit Dale is
what we call genius with no common sense. He walked through poison ivy. As soon as he found out
that s what it was, he called everyone in the family and asked them if they were allergic to it also
(everyone s allergic to poison ivy!). Another example of his no common sense is from a phone call a
week ago. This a started when he tried to call someone in the Quad Cities and they didn t answer,
because heaven forbid someone misses a call from him.

(b) What are the main differences between P notes and commercial bills of exchange?
A promissory note, which typically has a maturity of 90 days, is described as an unconditional
promise in writing made by one person to another, signed by the maker engaging to pay, on demand at
a fixed or determinable future time, a sum certain in money to the order of a specified person or to the

(b) Explain the effects of the with resource and notification conditions that may be incorporated in a
factoring contract.
Factoring is the means in realising debts whereby a firm sells its receivables to a factoring company,
which will then chase the creditors for the debts, making this form of debts a form of asset based
finance (Kravaica et al 2006). The factoring firm would purchase the accounts receivable at a discount
to the face value, which is the cost of the firm s efforts in collecting the debts on behalf of the firm.
The cost of the firm is the discount of the accounts receivable but the benefit of the firm relying on the
factoring service is its access to the funds and not having to expend its efforts in chasing for the debts
(Viney Phillips 2012, 313).
Factoring has been used in increasing popularity for small and medium sized enterprises because these
firms do not have the advantage of a large firm in terms of borrowing and therefore, rely on factoring
for their working capital (Borgia et al 2010).
The factoring contract may vary for different firms but it will specify the parties that are responsible
for future bad debts in case some of the debts become uncollectible. A contract with recourse factoring
means that the factoring company may make a claim against the firm should the accounts receivable
debt becomes bad (Viney Phillips 2012, 313). Logically, the contract with recourse would have a
lower discounting to the

the conflicting accounts. For example, there might have been a communication disorder (Armstrong,

The Sociology of Gender
Sociology of Gender
Patriarchy: Patriarchy is the system where men are in power. Whether it is in a family setting,
government setting or society setting the men hold the power. Women are not as powerful, depending
on the country and society we are focusing on would change exactly how much power women have in
a patriarchal society. In a patriarchal society, men are seen as the leaders, rulers, and the overall
authority. However, on the other side of it, women are seen as lesser, the weaker sex, and not as
important as men. This often leads to different forms of oppression. Ranging from gendercide in
African countries, to things like the glass ceiling or rape culture here in America. The sociology aspect
of patriarchy is not only related to gender, it is completely embedded in gender. Without gender and
sex, the patriarchy would not exist. If we eradicated genders, how would we decide who is in power?
By their natural abilities to lead, not by the feminine or masculine characteristics that we attach to
them because of their genitalia. The worst part of patriarchy is that we haven t necessarily had radical
acts to make it exist, all we have done as a society is allowed it, that alone makes it exist. It is seen as
the normal and natural because as a society we have not fought against it. Sociology analyses the
patriarchy to see what we can do to reverse it or to make a more equal society. (Patriarchy, The
System, Johnson)

Silver is bright and shining metal known to mankind from ancient times. From ancient time s human
civilization are using silver for jewelleries, utensils, weapons, coin, medicine, water containing tanks.
From early days silver is assisting the immune system when it was plentiful available in dissolved
metallic form in water[1]. In periodic table it is placed at 47th position near to heavy metal.it is a
transition metal. It has atomic weight 107.8. Silver has good metallic property like malleability,
ductility, thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity [2]. Silver exhibit the excellent anti
microbial property. After the development of nanotechnology we are using silver extensively in
various area. Now a day we use silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) instead of metallic silver for many of
daily uses. It is seen that AgNPs is highest degree of commercialisation among all the Nanoparticles in
medical and health sector. There are numerous uses where AgNPs are used like in cloths, medicines,
disinfectants, tiles, surgical equipment, and silver coated bone prosthesis. Nao silver is also used in
room spray, paints and laundry detergents. Many manufacture using nano silver in washing machines

The Characteristics Of Hamlet From Hamlet And Walter White...
A Byronic hero is an anti hero of the highest order. In the seventeenth century, William Shakespeare
wrote the play Hamlet. Four centuries later, the television show Breaking Bad aired. Even with though
these two pieces of media were written hundreds of years apart they still shared something in
common, their main character was a Byronic hero. Hamlet from Hamlet and Walter White from
Breaking Bad display the characteristics of an ultimate antihero. They are Byronic heroes because
each have a troubled backstory, each are anti heroes, both are criminals, have high intelligence and
useful skills, and have deep rooted psychological and emotional issues. Each character had to
experience their own trauma to which led them to become the Byronic heroes that they are. Hamlet s
father, King Hamlet, was murdered by his uncle, Claudius, in cold blood. While still in grief, his
mother married Claudius no less than two months after the King s passing. Walter White fifty year old
man who is an overqualified chemistry teacher who has to watch the world pass him up everyday. He
must also humiliatingly work at a car wash to make extra money to provide for his pregnant wife and
his sixteen year old son who has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Decades ago he started a multi
billion company but sold his share early in the business for a mere five thousands dollars. Then to
make it all worse, Walter White was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer on his fiftieth birthday.
Byronic heroes typically have a troubled or empathetic backstory like Hamlet and Walter do. Their
experiences affected them both deeply enough that their personas would change throughout the course
of their stories and lead them to become more of a dark hero and then more villain like. Hamlet started
to go down a spiral of madness whilst debating on whether or not to commit suicide while Walter went
down his own spiral of slowly losing himself, his family, and his morals. Since a Byronic hero is a the
ultimate antihero, one of the qualifications to be a Byronic hero is to be an antihero. They are typically
realists rather than idealists. Realist access situations and examining the facts without using their
emotions while idealists see situations with a

by including the wow factor. The consultants conducted a feasibility test which gave Mark a report

Advantages Of Pair Trading
Pair trading can be carried out in many methods of which distance trading and co integration models
are the most important methods.
Gatev et al. (2006) test a pairs trading strategy over 1962 to 2002 and provide valuable insights into
the development of the risk and return characteristics over time. It is perhaps the most cited paper on
pairs trading and uses distance method. They form pairs over a twelve month period based on
minimizing the squared deviations between normalized price series of the two securities. They back
test a simple trading algorithm with daily data in the period 1962 2002 using S P 500 constituents and
find average annualised returns of up to 11% for portfolios of pairs. Although the proposed strategy is
profitable the authors note that returns have declined in recent years, possible due to increased
competition among hedge funds and/or a reduction in the importance of an underlying common factor
that drives the returns in a pairs trading strategy. A thorough analysis of the risk characteristics shows
that returns have a high risk adjusted alpha and an insignificant exposure to sources of systematic risk.

ObamaCare set into motion a the largest healthcare reform in history and the initiative was so broad
and wide ranged that the governing body could not anticipate potential problems because there were to
many entities involved. From public health initiatives, such as the implementation of the Prevention
and Public Health Fund (virtual marketplace), to those statues in the PPACA that aim to increase the
public s access to health insurance has suffered many bumps in the road (Gable, 2011). For instance,
in the initial extension of ObamaCare to the public, the individual interest and online requests was so
intense that the system failed and was unable to support such a high demand of consumer inquiry, let
alone enrollment. Most of the focus was spent on legislative law and not the actual accessibility and
delivery to the citizens. Critics of the PPACA do not waste time in pointing out that legislation does
not take a public health approach that targets the deficits evident in the American healthcare system or
challenge the decades long medicalization of health with a population based approach (Gable, 2011).
In short, the health initiatives are solely focused on the extension of health services

Development Of The Vienna Secession
Development of the Vienna Secession
The establishment of the Viennese Secession in 1897 marked the genesis of modern art in Austria a
nation at the time known for its strong holdings on conservative traditions and values. It was the first
movement of artists and designers who were devoted to the renewal of art s meaning the projection of
inner states of emotion. Led by Gustav Klimt, the Secession was the most influential breakaway;
rejecting the revivalist styles endorsed by the conservative academies, the group promoted an art that
would celebrity modernity. The Secession was largely attributed for the responsibility of the rise to
international fame of several of its members, including Gustav Klimt, Joseph Maria Olbrich, Koloman
Moser and Josef Hoffman, who helped Austrian art become renowned once again. There were no
unifying characteristics between paintings or sculptures, or even architecture: instead, its members
were committed to the ideal of modernizing Austrian art by acquainting it with latest modern art
movements Art Nouveau, Post Impressionism and Expressionism. The initial movement was short
lived. By 1905, there were internal divisions ultimately fracturing the group s monopoly on the scene
for contemporary and decorative arts (Rosenman). However, the Secession was vital for the promotion
of Austrian contemporary art.
In 1903, Hoffman and fellow associate Moser and banker Fritz Warndorfer founded the Wiener

Trinity Monistic
Father, Son and Holy Spirit is a common phrase in the Christian faith. Who are these people and what
do they represent? These three people are separate people, but represent one God. The concept of the
Trinity creates a lot of debate, because some skeptics think that the Trinity is either Monistic or Pagan.
The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are three separate beings that represent one God, and this can be seen
in different passages in the Bible.
Is the Trinity Monistic or a Pagan grouping of Gods? The Trinity is not monistic because God does not
reveal himself in three different forms. The Trinity is three co existing eternal persons who exist as
one God. The Trinity is also not three separate Gods. The Father is the godhead of the Trinity ... Show

An example of this trend takes place in the book of Isaiah. Jesus states I AM several times in the

Father. Jesus is making it known that he is the Son of the Father, and therefore, equal to God. The only
way Jesus could be God is if he is the Son of the Father. This passage shows Jesus place in the Trinity.
The most concrete example of Jesus being one with God takes place in John 10:33. Jesus states I and

There are various techniques used to value the organization s financial and business worth. The most
common techniques used to value the business are based on accounting and financial principles. The

Research Paper On Mary Wollstonecraft
Mary Wollstonecraft: Women s Rights Fighter During the Victoria Era, philosophers claimed women
had natural rights but in reality, their rights were limited. Women always came second to men. The
Enlightenment in the 1700 s never offered free and equal to women in Europe (Ellis, Esler 55 57). A
small number of women protested that women did not have natural rights and Mary Wollstonecraft
agreed with their case but, most citizens in their time condemned their arguments. The idea of women
actually doing something in the world seemed impossible. The idea was imaginable. Mary
Wollstonecraft was a political theorist who analyzed women rights. Wollstonecraft has been described
to be the pioneer of feminism, which is true. Wollstonecraft ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

After her mother s death in 1782, Mary lived with her friend Fanny Bloods but left soon after to help
her sister Eliza and her new born baby. As problems arose between her sister, Eliza, and her husband,
Wollstonecraft took action. Then after, Eliza s child died.
What prompted Mary to intervene as she did in her sister s marriage remains somewhat a mystery; but
of course January 1784 Mary took her sister away and the two women went into hiding, leaving Eliza
s infant daughter behind (plato.stanford).
Soon after, Wollstonecraft left with her sister to provide education to others. In 1785 Wollstonecraft
went to Lisbon to see Fanny who was expecting her first baby. Wollstonecraft met a man who was
distressed from consumption. The experience with him is associated with her first novel Mary, a
Fiction published in 1788. Shortly after, Fanny Blood, Mary Wollstonecraft, and her sisters planned to
establish a school together (plato.standford). Later when Wollstonecraft left for a trip after the school
was built, she could not get a hold of Fanny. After a few distant letters sent by her friend, she found
out Fanny was gone (Todd 90 91). Wollstonecraft s heath became worse after Fanny s death and it
took her a while to recover from the loss of a dear friend such as Fanny (Todd 93). After the tragic
event of losing a friend, Mary Wollstonecraft went back home to start a new chapter in her life with

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Exchange Regime
FOREIGN EXHANGE REGIMES Foreign exchange is the trading of a currency for another or the
changing of a currency into another currency. Foreign exchange can further be defined as a market
which is global and in which currencies are allowed to trade throughout the world. An exchange rate
regime on the other side is the nature to which a currency is managed in relation to another by
authorities at the exchange market. It has similarities to those of monetary policy since they all depend
on same economic factors. The foreign exchange regime is classified by the level to which the
government intervenes in it. There for it only falls into one of the following; Fixed exchange rates

In the case of freely floating system, there are no official boundaries and rates are allowed to fluctuate
daily. Whereas in the fixed regime, currencies are prevented from moving too far or fluctuating in a
given direction by its government through the central bank. Its main disadvantage is that it has
achieved so little and it s not evident on whether it works or not. Freely floating rate system;this
exchange rate system is not influenced by the government in that the value of a currency is derived by
the market forces like demand and supply; the regime adjusts itself in response to the market forces on
regular basis. ADVANTAGES OF FREELY FLOATING EXCHANGE RATE SYSTEM Reduces the
spread of inflation; the system helps reduce on the spreading of inflation from one country to another
that are involve in trading, a good example is if country A experiences high inflation meaning increase
in prices, there will be high demand for goods from country B by country A. This whole situation
would improve the value of the currency in country

Cardiovascular Disease, Atherosclerosis Essay
One source of great mortality and morbidity in Europe and North America is the cardiovascular
disease, Atherosclerosis. It is recognized as a chronic inflammatory disease of the intermediate and
large arteries characterized by the thickening of the arterial wall and is the primary cause of coronary
and cerebrovascular heart disease (Wilson, 2005). It accounts for 4.35 million deaths in Europe and
35% death in the UK each year. Mortality rate are generally higher in men than pre menopausal
woman. Past the menopause, a woman s risk is similar to a man s (George and Johnston, 2010).

which then undergoes apoptosis. The plaque continues to grow and hardens narrowing the arteries.
This ruptures and causes a blood clot which limits the flow of oxygen rich blood to the body causing a
heart attack, stroke or even death. Factors that are known to predispose to atherosclerosis are physical
inactivity, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, cigarette smoking and hypertension which increase the
chances by two fold by damaging the vascular endothelium. Experimental studies have just shown that
excess blood levels of iron can lead to atherosclerosis (Guyton and Hall, 2011).
2.0 Molecular and Cell based therapies
Presently, the treatment strategies used are risk factor modification, conventional pharmacology and
surgical revascularization. These strategies have hitherto not been of enormous solution as the disease
progression still result in recurrent symptoms. This has now led to the exploitation of advances in
comprehending the vascular biology of atherogenesis to introduce novel cell and molecular based
therapies. The application of immunomodulation, lipid lowering agents like statins, gene transfer,
antisense technology and so on has resulted in new therapeutic strategies to interrupt cell proliferation
and disorder of the vessel wall. In this essay, immunomudulation and lipid lowering agent shall be
discussed.

Nudism as a Deviant Subculture
Introduction
Nudism is a social and sexual phenomenon in America that has been gaining a significant following
since the early 1930 s. This phenomenon was first introduced to American culture by a German
immigrant named Kurt Barthel. (Hartman, Fithian and Johnson 1991) Since then, nudism has
expanded to all parts of the country. From nude beaches and resorts to nudist camps, many are starting
to partake in this liberating way of life.
Despite the many followers of the nudist movement, many would classify nudists as a deviant
subculture. Fischer (1995) defines a subculture as, ...a large set of people who share a defining trait, ...

In the early 1900 s several papers were published that advocated the idea that the human body was not
sinful or obscene. The first nudist colonies were opened in Germany around 1903, and grew into
popularity during the 1920 s.
The Germans seemed to be the pioneers of the Naturism movement. In the 1960 s German s
vacationing along the Mediterranean coast in France began nudist colonies, and nudist beaches and
nudist resorts grew in popularity there. The movement came to North America in 1929 when a
German immigrant named Kurt Barthel opened a colony in the United States. In the early days of the
movement in America, nudism became associated with family values and alcohol was prohibited from
all activities. (Hartman et al. 1991)
Despite the attempt to associate high moral standards with the nudism movement it was subjected to
harassment and misunderstanding due to the fact that America saw nudism as a sexual and even
pornographic activity. Over the past three decades this largely changed. Nudist vacations became more
common, and nudism lost some of its social stigma. Nudism became less restrictive as well and
clothing optional gatherings became more common. Topless beaches also became popular, and the
organized nudist movement made strides in erasing the negative perception of nudism. (Bell and
Holliday 2000)

What Is Michelle Obama Power
My report is on Michelle Obama. I chose her because she is an amazing first lady who shows true girl
power!
Michelle was born January 17th 1964 in Chicago and has an older brother named Craig. Her parents
are Fraser and Marian Robinson. Michelle s family lived in a rented bedroom in her grandma s
bungalow. Spending time together was important to Michelle s family they ate, read, and played
games together. In fact Michelle and Craig could only watch 1 hour of T.V daily. Michelle was a
bright girl she had taught herself to read before kindergarten. She also woke up on time every day. She
had done so well in school that she skipped 2nd grade. In 6th grade she was put in gifted and talented
classes. When she got out of elementary school she went ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

worked with the Harvard Legal Aid Bateau. In 1988 she received her law degree. After graduating
from Harvard Michelle worked at Sidley Austin which was a law firm in Chicago. In 1989 she was
given an intern. When she saw his name she thought Who names their kid Barack Obama? After a few
weeks of work at the law firm Barack asked Michelle on a date. Even though she liked him she turned
him down because she thought that since they worked together it would be unprofessional. Barack
invited Michelle to a community meeting at his church at the meeting he told people some ways they
could change their lives. Michelle was impressed with Barrack s words and how people responded to
them. So one month later she agreed to go on a date with him so Barack took Michelle to the museum
and then to watch a movie. In 1991 Barack asked Michelle to marry him she said yes right away. A
year before the wedding Michelle left Sidley Austin and got a job at the mayor s office. In 1996
Barack ran for and won a seat in the Illinois Senate. Soon after that Michelle took a new job as

Pitbulls Should Be Banned Essay
Inherently dangerous, fight dogs, or vicious are just a few words that come to most people s minds
when they see or hear the word Pit bull. Pit bulls are feared because of their past reputation as fight
dogs and this has led to the banning of Pit bulls in many counties and cities across the United States.
However, I have had the honor of owning a Pit bull as well as knowing many great Pit bulls a Pit bull
owners over the years, and what my experience shows is that it s not the breed, but the owner that
determines the dog s behavioral outcome, it also shows that Pit bulls are extremely loyal and
protective of their owners, and that they are great with people especially kids.
My sister and I went through the task of training my Pit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This just shows how great Pit bulls are with kids. All the Pit bulls I met that were trained well loved
people and they especially loved kids, but most parents have the tendency to pull their kids away from
Pit bulls they meet, but then they let their kid go towards other breeds of dogs and the reason they do
this is because of the negative way they have seen Pit bulls portrayed. My Pit bull was able to
disprove these false assumptions made on his breed by proving to people that where you come from
doesn t define you, but how you treat people does. In fact, he was so kind to people that sometimes it
would shock them because they thought Pit bulls were supposed to be this vicious breed that could not
be controlled.
Hopefully my personal experience has been able to shine a positive light on Pit bulls and shown that
when it comes down to a dog their breed shouldn t define them because a dog is just a reflection of
their owner and if a Pit bull is treated correctly they won t randomly lash out at their owner, but will
be loyal and protective to the

Conscription In Canada Research Paper
It is a well known fact that through Canadian history, English and French Canadians did not get along
very well. French and English Canadians had many differences throughout history, and as time got
closer to the 21st century, situations between these two groups of people got worse and worse. Their
main differences, as seen in the visual component of my CPT, were usually around times of war, when
conscription was a very big topic. However, we cannot forget the post World War II situations that
caused Canada to change forever. Therefore, the top three events that really caused transformations in
relations of French and English Canadians were the conscription crisis of 1917, the Union Nationale
of the 1930s, and the Official Languages Act of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau decided to implement a solution to finally stop the French
Canadians and English Canadians from constantly fighting with each other. Therefore, he developed
and passed the Official Languages Act, which was an act that would finally recognize the equal status
of English and French throughout the federal administration, and ensure that all federal institutions
provide their services in English or French at the customer s choice. This act allowed for French
Canadians to no longer be seen as a minority in Canada and to finally be recognized for who they are.
Having Prime Minister Trudeau work very hard to pass this act showed French Canadians that the
Federal Government had finally recognized all the injustices directed towards them, and that there was
no longer any need for fighting between French and English Canadians. The importance of this event
is that finally, French Canadians were seen and identified as actual Canadians , and this act is an
apology from the Federal government towards the French Canadians for all the injustice that had
happened to them in the past. The Official Languages Act was a way to show French Canadians that
the culture of the French was in no danger of disappearing (Patriquin, Canada s language wars are
over ), one of the

Essay Comparing A Clockwork Orange And American Psycho
Point #1
In both novels American Psycho and A Clockwork Orange, society creates monsters by manipulating
and taking away free will from the protagonists Patrick Bateman and Alex. This may be in different
ways but essentially both are separated away from what seems to be the norm and are mentally
segregated from human connection.
One way in which this can be seen in American Psycho is by isolating Patrick Bateman, a high class,
wealthy Manhattan businessman, from the ordinary. There are several repeated miscommunications
such as when Bateman is constantly telling his friends that he works in murders and executions but
this is interpreted as mergers and acquisitions . Ironically combining together Bateman s monotonous
day job with his vicious night job. They are all so wrapped up in themselves that they don t hear him
or don t believe what he s saying.
In fact, what could really be going on in his head, Patrick Bateman might be trying to communicate
across how he feels and this may be his way of doing so. However, everybody around him doesn t
seem to understand what is really going on. Not one character from American Psycho can see beneath
the surface of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

is not there . He is frantic that maybe he feels something more towards her but at the same time feels
the need to push her away as he doesn t want to hurt her. He may have never felt love towards another
before and in a way wants to protect her from himself as he does not know what may happen if he lets
his mind love her totally out of his control. Perhaps, he will end up treating her like the other girls and
a likely possibility that he may eventually kill her. He s afraid to love. He s afraid that he will get too

Gender Bias In The Workplace
Sexism women still face gender bias in the workplace. The stereotype e.g. women more likely to take
a housekeeping job, secretarial tasks or even be look at taking notes at a college meeting. Ageism it s
been known that because of a person age, he/she been discriminated against for job advancement.
Race refers to the practice of treating people differently because of the race. I have personally heard
on my past job that the manager is looking to hire a Caucasian person, yes this still exists in toady
time. Discrimination will always be a around it will take a miracle for this to come to an end not only
within the workplace.
Problems
The problem with feminist theory is gender free morality may be impossible. In today era, many
people don t agree that women should have equal pay as men within the work place. Even though laws
have been passed to equal pay, however when it comes to equal pay a lot of company still don t
comply with this ruling.
Model
The feminist model is described as conflict resolution. Feminist model aims to resolve inequality on
multiple levels of existence. In addition, feminist model of conflict determination identifies sources of
conflict as results of oppression prolonged by dominant. e.g. if a male and a female walk over to the
automotive service department to get their car work on, and the worker come out and automatic
address the male with the question, how may I help you , the worker is looking at the male as the
dominant person.

Sputnik During The 1950 s
During the 1950 s rooms were filled with huge computer devices, they were able to read punch cards

Soviet Union launched Sputnik, it was the first ever man made satellite, this all happened during the
peak time of the Cold War. President D. D. Eisenhower invented the ARPANET ( Advanced Research

science and the USA s wanted to share technology over to other countries. ARPANET was the answer

How can I choose the best place for tourism? What language does that country speak? These are the hardest questions for many people in the summer time. First of all, what does tourism mean? Tourism is an activity carried out by any person or group of people who are going from one place to another or from one country to another in order to visit a particular place or several places. Tourism can used for entertainment or relaxation and to learn new information about other cultures (Lundberg 4). In addition, there are many types of tourism around the word. Mencken, and Norman Mailer Capital punishment in the essays by George Orwell, H.L. Mencken, and Norman Mailer was a necessary evil to deter crime. These authors incorporated the use of alcohol or drugs as mind altering chemicals to relieve the pressures of the characters involved in death due to capital punishment. Chemicals such as drugs and alcohol can be used for the pleasure of relieving stress, a means to forget, or a way to subdue personal beliefs as the authors have illustrated. The pleasure of relieving stress in George Orwell s essay A Hanging was detailed by his thoughts written as one of the executioners. This character drank alcohol to relieve ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The uses of mind altering chemicals, H.L. Mencken s essay Hangings I have Known illustrates the repression of memory using a young journalist precisely eighteen years, ten months and sixteen days old (pg 92) when he witnesses his first execution as a reporter. He narrates the inebriated state of the sheriff whose responsibility it was to spring the trap . (pg 92) The sheriff s drinking was to diminish mental anguish he put on himself to a point where he became virtually helpless, the other sheriffs would help pull the trap, but the sheriff was quite unable to tie the knot, bind the candidate, or carry on with the other duties under his responsibility . (pg 92) After the hangings the sheriff was assisted out of the jail yard by his deputies, and departed at once for Atlantic City, where he dug in for a week of nightmare (pg 92). The sheriff was written as a person not able to accept the act of capital punishment or his memories so he attempts to suppress them with alcohol. King James Version New Living Translation In reading the King James Version, New American bible, and new living translation, each of these translations in my opinion show no significant difference in reading Genesis 2. Each translation gives a good description of how God created the heavens and the earth and explaining the Sabbath. Although each translation is clear and understandable, I believe the King James Version is more transparent to those who will read it. These translations do not make a difference in understanding of the true exegesis. The translations are conveying the same thing but just using different wording. All of these versions are translated from different sources and some words might transfer over to different meaning. I think it would matter if these translations ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Argumentative Speech On Phobias Maddy: Welcome back guys! You are listening to Maddy in the Morning on Kiss 108. For those of you that just tuned in, we are here today with Luan, a brilliant undergrad student from Salem State University and he is going to talk to us about this new and upcoming research project that he is conducting on phobias. PHOBIAS!!! WOOOO!!! Pretty spooky, right? And with Halloween just around the corner, you couldn t have picked a better timing for it. Luan: Haha I know, right!? It seemed like the perfect timing for it. Maddy: So tell me about this project of yours; what is it exactly? Luan: Well one of my courses required students to pick a topic that really interested them to write about during the semester. It s going to be a pretty long project, so the topic was really important. I wanted to write and explore about something that was intriguing yet feasible and phobias really hit the sweet spot. Not to mention that I always have been fascinated by them... Maddy: Yeah, it really is a great topic. Now I know that people link phobias with fear. Is that really what a phobia is? Just fear? Luan: A lot of people think that Maddy. But according to the American Psychology Association, all phobias are anxiety disorders, lumped in the same class as post traumatic stress disorder and panic disorder, among others. And anxiety disorders are, fundamentally, based on fear. But this does not mean that phobias equal fear. Maddy: So does this mean that even though my mother in law scares me to ... • 6. Mildred Gillars Propaganda During World War II, radio was heavily used for propaganda purposes. Most of the time governments aimed it at their own citizens, but some countries used it to send false and inaccurate messages to opposition. In 1940, Germany used radio 24/7 all around the world and in many different languages as an instrument of policy, ideology, and propaganda. Their efforts to relate to American citizens were truly unsuccessful until a failed Broadway actress from Ohio Mildred Gillars accepted a job offer from the German state radio division. For approximately three years, Gillars was a part of various types of German radio shows that aimed at undermining American soldiers morale and made her one of the most notorious and controversial American personalities ... • 7. How Did Structural Functionalism Contribute To The... Structural functionalists view the family as a unit that meets the need of its members. When the family functions well, it contributes to the stability of society. Marriage is viewed as a mutually satisfying arrangement between 2 members of the opposite gender. Traditional gender roles are carried out with the man being the financial and status provider in a family, and the woman performing household duties, providing emotional and sexual support, and raising the children. Structural functionalists feel that these traditional roles make for a strong family unit, in which the children grow up to become well functioning members of society. Rapid social change does not win favor in the structural functionalist theory. During his years of working on an emergency vehicle, witnessed pain and suffering, but also beauty and freedom. He claims that the chaos and unpredictability is what made his job worth doing. As a child, Beethoven s father pushed him past his limits to be a musician. The young boy s neighbors accounted for hearing weeping while he played the clavier, standing atop a footstool to reach the keys, his father beating him for each hesitation or mistake ( Ludwig ). He was flogged on a near daily basis and locked in the cellar and deprived of sleep for extra hours of practice ( Ludwig ). Due to the inhuman amount of hours he spent playing music, Beethoven began showing flashes of the creative imagination that would eventually reach farther than any composer s before or since ( Ludwig ). He composed a piece entitled Cantata on the Death of Emperor Joseph II, which is now considered his earliest masterpiece. In the early 1800s, Beethoven went deaf. This is an utter travesty for any musician, but Beethoven persevered and created some of his best work. • 9. Moll Flanders And Sexism In Literature The appearance of women in 18th Century literary works, was on the rise. Women were side characters early novels and often used by authors as a device to portray virtue and innocence to the public. To set a standard of what an modest woman of this time period should stand for and how they should interact with others. Women used as main protagonist faced great challenges and went to great lengths to protect their virtue from the inappropriate touch of men. These women were wives with maternal instincts, who wanted nothing more than to marry for love and have rooms filled with children and expensive dresses only adding to the sexist stigma that oppressed the women of this time period. Daniel Defoe decided to set himself apart from these clique novels and take on the flipped role of critiquing this sexism with his novel the fortunes and misfortunes of the famous Moll Flanders. As one of this period may see his novel as a place of sentiment with quick witted humor and a good adventure novel, others and literary critics today see it as a critique itself on the sexism of the time period. This was later confirmed to be the intended purpose in his work essay, his goal was to show women in a different light, to make them understand the world (p.292). In his fictional tale of the life of moll flanders, Defoe sheds light on several issues involving the oppression of women which often went unnoticed by society, Through this novel, defoe weaves in critiques on the strict enforcement of ... Most are in the medical or education field and are in the larger, more Westernized cities such as Beijing or Shanghai. My story is a little different. Mine is one of a FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastics) inspector for FSE (Fiberglass Structural Engineering). The simplest way to explain to most people not in the industry is to refer to it simply as Fiberglass Inspector (and NO not the pick stuff in your attic). I was working at a facility located in Lianyungang which is located in the Jiangsu province of Eastern China. Located about halfway between Beijing and Shanghai. Lianyungang is mostly an industrial city. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I started researching what the local attractions were. I read about a famous story that was written by Mr. Wu Cheng en in Ming Dynasty, Journey to the West, which is originated in Lianyungang. Part of this story takes place on Huanguo mountain. Huanguo mountain was located not very far from where I was staying. As it appears in the book it is a mountain inhabited by demons and monkeys. And while there are a few monkeys to be found along the way, demons were (thankfully) notable in their absence. In my journey to the top of the mountain I found many interesting things to see. There were temples, homes, and wonderful scenery. Once I reached the top of the mountain there was a statue. The best interpretation I got was that it was equal to what we would refer to as an angel. It had many ribbons tied to it. The ribbons are tied to the symbol by a person asking for good fortune. There was also a centralized monument that many young people were stilling under playing some sort of card game. Off to the side there was a marker that marked the very top of the mountain. As I was admiring the marker I felt a tap on my shoulder. It was a young girl, probably around 18 or 19. She was with a couple friends. She asked, in broken English if she and her friends may take a picture with me. I said of course you can. It was then that I realized that not only was I admiring all the attractions, I became one. Once I was done with the picture session I found an older gentleman that had a monkey. As I approached him he pointed at my cell phone and was giving me a take a picture gesture. He proceeded to place the monkey on my hand a take a picture. I tipped him went on my way. This was one of the most amazing days that I was in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Personal Ethical Argument The set of personal ethical principles which I live by are comprised of a belief in absolute right and wrong, man s duty to obey God, and also his duty to love his neighbor as himself; each of these principles were formed by a Faith in God and in the Bible. The principle of absolute right and wrong was constructed through understanding that if right and wrong were contingent on man s opinions and attitudes, then both laws and guidelines would become pointless. Furthermore, God shows that right and wrong are absolute and not contingent on man when He states His warning, Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! (Isaiah 5:20). In addition to this principle, I also came to believe that man is called to obey God for several reasons: He is all powerful, He created man to give Himself glory, and He desires what is best for us. Like the two previous ethical principles, loving one s neighbor as himself, was constructed out of a faith in God and in His infallible Word. However, by understanding what my work really meant to the organization, I started to see my experience in a different way. Social capital refers to the relationships that promote mutual benefits and enable the effective function of a community (Lai and Hynie, 2010). By integrating people from different social classes, FYFB works as a central point where individuals can interact with other realities and work together. Similarly, Putnam (1995) argues that civic engagement generates in the community a sense of reciprocity and produces social trust between different social classes. For instance, by sorting donations, I realized that donors find a way to collaborate with the promotion of FYFB s mission. From large contributions by organizations like Second Harvest or Daily Bread to small donations by particular retails, their actions affirm that working together and organized can led to a big success as Fort York Food Bank represents to me. In fact, Charity Intelligence Canada (n.d.) states that FYFB has been able to transform one dollar from donations to more than eight dollars in benefits to clients through the active collaboration of different volunteer skills. Department 19 Villains Essay English Through the study of the three texts; Department 19 by Will Hill, Macbeth the play and The Social Network by David Fincher, it is evident that literary villains are archetypes that often represent the evil side of human nature. One may argue that each villain has certain traits that allow the reader to be drawn to the terror and horror of their deeds yet also allow readers to reflect upon the society that has created such individuals. Authors stray their villains from the stereotype to keep the modern audience engaged. Often the physical appearance can define the villain, as it can be the most appealing and revealing area of any individual at first glance. In Department 19, Will Hill uses the characteristics of ... As demonstrated in these texts there are different ways that villains can be represented. In the post modern age often the role of villain is not as clear cut and the morality and ethical outcomes of the characters actions are represented as ambiguous. In a text such as The Social Network by David Fincher many relationships inverse and promises are broken. Finch almost leaves it for the audience to decide on the true villain. Factoring is the means in realising debts whereby a firm sells its receivables to a factoring company, which will then chase the creditors for the debts, making this form of debts a form of asset based finance (Kravaica et al 2006). The factoring firm would purchase the accounts receivable at a discount to the face value, which is the cost of the firm s efforts in collecting the debts on behalf of the firm. The cost of the firm is the discount of the accounts receivable but the benefit of the firm relying on the factoring service is its access to the funds and not having to expend its efforts in chasing for the debts (Viney Phillips 2012, 313). Factoring has been used in increasing popularity for small and medium sized enterprises because these firms do not have the advantage of a large firm in terms of borrowing and therefore, rely on factoring for their working capital (Borgia et al 2010). The factoring contract may vary for different firms but it will specify the parties that are responsible for future bad debts in case some of the debts become uncollectible. Whether it is in a family setting, government setting or society setting the men hold the power. Women are not as powerful, depending on the country and society we are focusing on would change exactly how much power women have in a patriarchal society. In a patriarchal society, men are seen as the leaders, rulers, and the overall authority. However, on the other side of it, women are seen as lesser, the weaker sex, and not as important as men. This often leads to different forms of oppression. Ranging from gendercide in African countries, to things like the glass ceiling or rape culture here in America. The sociology aspect of patriarchy is not only related to gender, it is completely embedded in gender. Without gender and sex, the patriarchy would not exist. If we eradicated genders, how would we decide who is in power? By their natural abilities to lead, not by the feminine or masculine characteristics that we attach to them because of their genitalia. The worst part of patriarchy is that we haven t necessarily had radical acts to make it exist, all we have done as a society is allowed it, that alone makes it exist. It is seen as the normal and natural because as a society we have not fought against it. Sociology analyses the patriarchy to see what we can do to reverse it or to make a more equal society. • 28. The Characteristics Of Hamlet From Hamlet And Walter White... A Byronic hero is an anti hero of the highest order. In the seventeenth century, William Shakespeare wrote the play Hamlet. Four centuries later, the television show Breaking Bad aired. Even with though these two pieces of media were written hundreds of years apart they still shared something in common, their main character was a Byronic hero. Hamlet from Hamlet and Walter White from Breaking Bad display the characteristics of an ultimate antihero. They are Byronic heroes because each have a troubled backstory, each are anti heroes, both are criminals, have high intelligence and useful skills, and have deep rooted psychological and emotional issues. Each character had to experience their own trauma to which led them to become the Byronic heroes that they are. Hamlet s father, King Hamlet, was murdered by his uncle, Claudius, in cold blood. While still in grief, his mother married Claudius no less than two months after the King s passing. Walter White fifty year old man who is an overqualified chemistry teacher who has to watch the world pass him up everyday. He must also humiliatingly work at a car wash to make extra money to provide for his pregnant wife and his sixteen year old son who has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Decades ago he started a multi billion company but sold his share early in the business for a mere five thousands dollars. Then to make it all worse, Walter White was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer on his fiftieth birthday. Byronic heroes typically have a troubled or empathetic backstory like Hamlet and Walter do. Their experiences affected them both deeply enough that their personas would change throughout the course of their stories and lead them to become more of a dark hero and then more villain like. Hamlet started to go down a spiral of madness whilst debating on whether or not to commit suicide while Walter went down his own spiral of slowly losing himself, his family, and his morals. It is perhaps the most cited paper on pairs trading and uses distance method. They form pairs over a twelve month period based on minimizing the squared deviations between normalized price series of the two securities. They back test a simple trading algorithm with daily data in the period 1962 2002 using S P 500 constituents and find average annualised returns of up to 11% for portfolios of pairs. Although the proposed strategy is profitable the authors note that returns have declined in recent years, possible due to increased competition among hedge funds and/or a reduction in the importance of an underlying common factor that drives the returns in a pairs trading strategy. Development Of The Vienna Secession Development of the Vienna Secession The establishment of the Viennese Secession in 1897 marked the genesis of modern art in Austria a nation at the time known for its strong holdings on conservative traditions and values. It was the first movement of artists and designers who were devoted to the renewal of art s meaning the projection of inner states of emotion. Led by Gustav Klimt, the Secession was the most influential breakaway; rejecting the revivalist styles endorsed by the conservative academies, the group promoted an art that would celebrity modernity. The Secession was largely attributed for the responsibility of the rise to international fame of several of its members, including Gustav Klimt, Joseph Maria Olbrich, Koloman Moser and Josef Hoffman, who helped Austrian art become renowned once again. There were no unifying characteristics between paintings or sculptures, or even architecture: instead, its members were committed to the ideal of modernizing Austrian art by acquainting it with latest modern art movements Art Nouveau, Post Impressionism and Expressionism. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are three separate beings that represent one God, and this can be seen in different passages in the Bible. Is the Trinity Monistic or a Pagan grouping of Gods? This phenomenon was first introduced to American culture by a German immigrant named Kurt Barthel. (Hartman, Fithian and Johnson 1991) Since then, nudism has expanded to all parts of the country. From nude beaches and resorts to nudist camps, many are starting to partake in this liberating way of life. In the 1960 s German s vacationing along the Mediterranean coast in France began nudist colonies, and nudist beaches and nudist resorts grew in popularity there. The movement came to North America in 1929 when a German immigrant named Kurt Barthel opened a colony in the United States. In the early days of the movement in America, nudism became associated with family values and alcohol was prohibited from all activities. (Hartman et al. 1991) Despite the attempt to associate high moral standards with the nudism movement it was subjected to harassment and misunderstanding due to the fact that America saw nudism as a sexual and even pornographic activity. Over the past three decades this largely changed. Nudist vacations became more common, and nudism lost some of its social stigma. Nudism became less restrictive as well and clothing optional gatherings became more common. Topless beaches also became popular, and the organized nudist movement made strides in erasing the negative perception of nudism. (Bell and Holliday 2000) References ...
