Racial Disparities Of African Americans
Over the past few decades, there have been a series of African Americans killed by law enforcement
officers. Trayvon Martin, Mike Brown, John Crawford III, Eric Garner and countless others. The
aftermath: the officers who murdered the unarmed men have either been acquitted or there was no
indictment. What happened in Ferguson is years, if not decades in the making. African Americans are
simply tired of having to bury friends and family and discovering the officers, meant to protect the law
and serve the people, are killing black lives and are almost always found not guilty.
The racial disparities against African Americans lies is shameful, but not surprising. Race matters in
the United States. People of color do not receive the same benefits and equality as white people;
whether it be in education, the workplace and in the judicial system. The purpose of this paper is to
analyze the racial disparities to African Americans in what subsequently led to the Black lives Matter
movement. I have chosen a series of photos that capture historical events of protests and movements
including an analysis of one of my images.
Racial disparities and inequality dates all the way back to slavery: when whites abused, raped, tortured
and killed black people. Slavery transformed America into an economic power; the exploitation of
black people made the south the richest and most politically powerful region in the country (ABS).
Black people did not have any rights, instead they were forced

Summary and Analysis
On Dumpster Diving
Lars Eighner s On Dumpster Diving (Published is a first person informative essay that explores the art
of Dumpster diving. Almost presented as a user guide or instructional piece his key message is about
the wastefulness of consumers and the shallowness of materialism. About a year before he became
homeless, Eighner began sourcing all of his life necessities from dumpsters because of a lack of
money as all his income was spent on rent. He makes the claim that it is possible to survive and be
content with life simply by living off the refuse and waste of others. Through his experiences as a
scavenger, Eighner educates and teaches others about dumpster diving and materialism. He states I
have learned much as a scavenger. I mean to put some of what I have learned down here, beginning
with the practical art of Dumpster diving and proceeding to the abstract. (560)
Eighner begins by revealing the most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People chase wealth and prosperity so they can buy items they think they need and will enjoy, whether
it be an iPod or latest game console. Eighner s idea of the transience of material living is that in the
end material possessions are meaningless. Eighner has learnt through his loss of these items that life
experience and knowledge will outlast any tangible item, he states some material things are white
elephants that eat up the possessor s substance (568). Eighner argues that materialistic objects
themselves are not as important as the sentiments behind them. The fact that Eighner can survive and
live happily off others waste effectively persuades the reader to reflect and ask questions of
themselves. What items do they value and does it really make them happy? Could they survive
without it? Do they throw good things

A Mermaid Research Paper
I live on a planet named Oceano, created by the Great Poseidon. Eighty percent of the planet is
composed of water and eighty five percent of the population are mermaids and mermen. For centuries
we have lived in a world of peace with the humans and have created an everlasting friendship.
Everything was perfect until yesterday, when the humans decided to strip us of our most valuable
treasure, the fountain of youth and fortune. This has caused chaos in the water, and infuriated my
father, the King of the Ocean. Not only do I see this as a betrayal from the humans, but as a chance to
prove myself to all the mermaids, mermen, and my father who I truly am. Today I have begun my
quest for the fountain of youth and fortune. The witch of the ocean has agreed to turn me in to human
until I could find the fountain and once I touch the ocean s water I would be a mermaid again. I must

He was the single most beautiful man on this planet. His robust chest was raised, his brawny arms
crossed, his athletic legs spread. And for a second, I forgot my purpose. Without thinking again, I
closed my eyes and dashed towards him. I opened my eyes once again and saw his hazel eyes, that
reflected the entire world, set on me. He reached for me and threw me across the room. He had more
strength than any other human I had seen, but I knew I could take him. I hastily got up and made a run
for his spear, at the same time he did. He was quick but not quick enough, I grabbed the spear and
aimed it at his heart just as he pulled a blade from his belt. The spear went through his heart before he
had the chance to stab me with the blade. As he died, the powers of the fountain had no effect on him
and he began to reveal himself. His beauty vanished, his toned muscles faded and what remained was

The Importance Of Human Nature In Cory Doctorow s Little...
Cory Doctorow s Little Brother is an excellent novel that combines technology and rebellion all into
one book. A group of teenagers living in San Francisco become prisoners of a terrorist attack
investigation when they are arrested and brought to an island by the Department of Homeland
Security. They are treated awfully despite not having committed a single crime. The main character,
Marcus, deems it is in his hands to take down the DHS and get revenge for what they ve done. The
Bay Bridge bombing and terrorist attack, the awful treatment of the characters by the DHS, and
Marcus good efforts to seek revenge, all have an impact on human nature. Doctorow s novel shows
how acts of conflict can expose the cruelty of human nature as they can inflict tremendous pain on the
vulnerable, but sometimes they can even cause a positive outcome. Organizing a terrorist attack
reveals one s true human nature simply by having created such a vicious and cruel conflict. Within the
beginning of the novel, the Bay Bridge in San Francisco was bombed and thousands of people got
injured and many died. Having said that, one can infer just by recognizing the situation at hand, that
the person who orchestrated the attack, was not in a positive mental state. Marcus, a character in the
novel said, Terrorists don t hate landmarks or bridges or airplanes. They just want to screw stuff up
and make people scared (Doctorow 73). Marcus emphasizes in this line that terrorists reveal their

Internal Medicine Clerkship Research Paper
I still remember something one of my college professors told me on the last day of his class:
Never stop being curious, he said. I liked his message; it was simple without being trite.
To me, it emphasized following a path in life that is intellectually stimulating and promotes lifelong
learning. Those words still resonate loudly with me today as I prepare for my journey towards
residency and what I hope will prove to be a long and rewarding career in medicine. As a third year
medical student, several factors motivated me to choose a residency in
Internal Medicine. During my Internal Medicine clerkship, I experienced the intricate thought
processes involved in treating patients with multiple co morbidities, as well as the energy and

My job became not only to determine what brought these people to the hospital, but also to find out
who they really were because, more often than not, the two were intertwined. It moved me to see how
my curiosity and patience in learning about each person s background helped me to better treat each
individual.
For these reasons, a career in Internal Medicine would satisfy both my thirst for knowledge and my
desire for strong patient relationships. Furthermore, I know that I have the skill set and the drive that
will help me become a caring and competent physician. My involvement in activities both inside and
outside of medicine has made me well rounded and enables me to work effectively with different
types of people in various situations. Being a member of a musical band has reinforced the importance
of communication and working as a teamplayer, and holding a class office for nearly three years has

Society s Preoccupation With Risk
The risk society has created a risk awareness in the Criminal Justice System. Professionals have
become anxious of the hazards presented by modernisation , new innovative strategies to deal with the
risks, and technological advances. These developments have caused uncertainty, creating further risks
and a collective vulnerability to risk awareness (Giddens, 1991). This assignment will critically
analyse the way in which society s preoccupation with risk, influences the way in which the probation
service and police work.
The first part of this paper will discuss the significate changes to probation practice, by reviewing
probation history from the 1960s in England and Wales. Discussing how influential penal trends,
policy and practice evolution, have resulted in social work and probation work training becoming
detached (Robinson and McNeill, 2004). Retributivism theory in a culture of risk will be studied, with
the recommendations to punishment examined. The what works agenda (Martinson, 1974) will be
discussed progressing on to the emergence of populist punitiveness , and critically examining the
correlation with risk theory. Focusing on the progression of probation practice in late modernity, and
the use of risk assessments, it focuses on the risk instruments of clinical, actuarial and mixed
approaches. Attention is also given to Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA), and
how the probation service and police, work together to protect the public

Eardrum Rupture Research Paper
Eardrum Rupture, Adult
An eardrum rupture is a hole (perforation) in the eardrum. The eardrum is a thin, round tissue inside of
the ear that separates the ear canal from the middle ear. The eardrum is also called the tympanic
membrane. It transfers sound vibrations through small bones in the middle ear to the hearing nerve in
the inner ear. It also protects the middle ear from germs. An eardrum rupture can cause pain and
hearing loss.
CAUSES
Eardrum rupture results from a sudden injury (trauma). This may be caused by:
Inserting a thin, sharp object into the ear canal.
Getting a blow to the side of the head, especially with an open hand.
Having a sudden increase in pressure against the eardrum, such as from an explosion or a ... Show

SYMPTOMS
Symptoms of this condition include:
Sudden pain at the time of the injury.
Ringing in the ear or dizziness after the injury.
Bleeding from the ear.
DIAGNOSIS
This condition is diagnosed based on your symptoms and medical history as well as a physical exam.
Your health care provider can usually see a perforation using an ear scope (otoscope). You may have
other tests, such as having a hearing test (audiogram) to check for hearing loss.
TREATMENT
Typically, the eardrum will heal on its own within a few weeks. If your eardrum does not heal, your
health care provider may recommend a procedure to place a patch over your eardrum or surgery to
repair your eardrum.
HOME CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Keep your ear dry. This is very important. Follow your health care provider s instructions on how to
keep your ear dry. These may include wearing waterproof earplugs when bathing or swimming.
Take over the counter and prescription medicines only as told by your child s health care provider.
Keep all your child s follow up visits as told by your health care provider. This is important.

Compare And Contrast Lincoln s Second Inaugural Address
Lincoln s presidency is typically characterized by the abolition of slavery. While important, it often
overshadows other objectives he had for the country. After Lincoln issued The Emancipation
Proclamation, he had new plans for America. Lincoln weaved rhetorical strategies into his second
inaugural address to promote his vision for the future of the nation. As Civil War was nearing an end,
Lincoln s goal was to create a unified nation of peace. He hoped the Union and Confederacy could put
aside their differences and hatreds and reestablish harmony.
The differences between the North and South were extreme. Lincoln s goal was to show that the
Union and Confederacy had similarities that could foster peace between them. First he contrasted the
two, saying the North aimed to save the Union, while the south aimed to destroy it. He also contrasted
their belief of slavery on a federal level. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He compared the religious backgrounds of both sides, saying they prayed to the same god, and read
the same bible. Lincoln intended this to pacify either side, since religion was common ground between
them. This religious allusion promoted Lincoln s vision, since the Union and Confederacy could use
religious similarity as a foundation for peace. It also helped connect them, since many people bond
over shared religious beliefs. Lincoln also used biblical references to give an explanation of why
peace was possible. By the will of the Almighty, the Civil War was a necessary woe to compensate for
the offense of slavery. The conflict over slavery was the cause of the war and the cause of the nation s
internal chaos. However, The Emancipation Proclamation ended the offense and ended the initial
conflict. Lincoln believed this meant the United States could reunify. His reasoning promoted his
peaceful vision of the future, since slavery had ended, war was no longer the will of the

Pancakes Vs Waffles Research Paper
In a battle of epic proportions, who will win? Waffles or Pancakes? While both are widely eaten and
made, pancakes, with their easy assembly, creativity, and versatility, are the superior breakfast food.
Both pancakes and waffles are popular breakfast foods that everyone has eaten. I too have had, and
made, many pancakes and waffles in my lifetime. Pancakes are far easier to assemble. They only

The Bus Lane At Lion s Park Train Station
The number nine bus, packed full of students eager to get home, pulled into the bus lane at Lion s Park
train station. Halfway there, I thought, happy to be done with another stressful day of classes. After
most of the other passengers disembark to board the train, those of us which stay on the bus each have
our own seats.
The bus driver steps off the bus, as he does each day, to smoke a cigarette. Each day I contemplate
how the complex interplay of individuals can become simple routine, reduced to the same exhausted
ride to school every morning, matched to the seemingly endless ride home every afternoon. I wouldn t
be able to cope with the chaos that some people enjoy, I prefer my simple, reliable routines.
Nevertheless, every day I contemplate the paths each of the passengers had to follow for this scene to
play out as it does each day. The path that inevitably leads to me sitting on the bus and watching the
driver smoke his cigarette at the same time, in the same place, five out of seven days a week.
I look up to another familiar scene playing out beyond the Plexiglas windows of the bus: a group of
homeless men passing their days exposed to the elements. Some are splayed out across the lawns of an
adjacent office building, others are digging in the cracks of the pavement for cigarette butts. Nothing
special, the same group of men stand in the same places doing the same things every day.
I sit and watch the men and wonder why they are always here. Why do they always

Mainstreaming Of Children With Disabilities
Mainstreaming of Children with Disabilities One of the most important factors in a well, social
functioning child with a disability is education. Proper education will offer a child the opportunity to
be successful on a higher level than a child without an education. When a child enters the school
system they are entering in an environment that is unfamiliar and challenging. Children with physical
disabilities and lack of full cognitive reasoning, sense their differences around other children.
According to Welsh, Parke, Widaman, O Neil, 2001; Social ability can have a significant impact on a
child s academic success in the classroom . Social skills are a very important factor when it comes to
educating children with disabilities. Lack of social skills could show feelings of anxiety and
depression which will affect their learning. A child with anxiety and or depression would probably be
noticeable to other children causing social awkwardness. Physical disabilities can also be a social
challenge in any setting, curiosity of the unknown by surrounding children can present insecurities for
a child with a physical disability. This may cause a child to retreat from social activities, because they
fear the questions, staring and difference of treatment. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
was signed into law on July 26, 1990, by President George H.W. Bush. This act was modeled after the
Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of

Hamlet Ophelia Essay
Ophelia s character in Shakespeare s Hamlet has been subject to a wealth of different interpretations,
and because her characterization greatly influences the plot of the play, it is important to interpret
Shakespeare s original intentions concerning Ophelia with due diligence. Ophelia s role in the play
changes as the play progresses. At first she is used to find out the source of Hamlet s apparent
madness, for he was infatuated with her, and Polonius, Ophelia s father, believed that Hamlet was
driven mad with longing for his daughter. Polonius then instructs Ophelia to to give back the love
letters that Hamlet gave her, increasing her influence on the plot as she takes action against Hamlet.
But her most essential role in the play comes after Hamlet accidentally kills Polonius. Her reaction to
her father s death takes up a good portion of act four as Shakespeare ties her into the play s themes of
sanity, or lack thereof, grief, betrayal, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her true nature becomes apparent as she completely falls apart. She sings in front of the queen and
king, Before you tumbled me, you promised me to wed (Hamlet 4.5.67 68). This alludes to how
Ophelia was not as innocent as she appeared, and that not only had Ophelia and Hamlet cared for each
other, but that they had slept together before marriage. This loss of virtue should come as a shock to
the audience if Ophelia s character is presented correctly, for they would be entirely unaware of
Ophelia s impurity. The fact that she is singing also reveals more about Ophelia s character, because it
shows a loss of touch with reality. Correspondingly, Ophelia should be characterized as incensed and
heartbroken, for not only has she suffered the loss of her father, but a betrayal by the man she once
loved who killed him. Here the audience should discover that Ophelia is not the impassive character
she seemed to be in the beginning, but that she is deeply

Shindler s List And Schindler Comparison
Throughout the film Schindler s List, the characters Oskar Schindler and Amon Goeth grew
increasingly different. In the beginning, Goeth and Schindler were both power hungry and egotistical.
However, as the movie continues, several notable instances demonstrate the juxtaposition between the
men. In Schindler s List, the evidence that marks Goeth as a static character and Schindler as a
dynamic character is apparent. While Schindler evolves from a narcissist to a hero, Goeth remains a
savage. One incident that proves this can be the conversation between the two men regarding power,
which reveals how Goeth s plan of power rests on fear whereas Schindler s rests on admiration and
respect. Goeth s megalomaniacal character is exposed during the

A wrong relationship is one which involves the immoral gratification of a bad man, and a good
relationship is one which involves the morally sound gratification of a good man (Waterfield 17). The
desire of a bad man is one who leads primarily for physical features, and in the end leaving who he
may be with on to something new, thus having a temporary relationship or feeling with a companion.
Psyche which will never lose its charm, more than for the body, which must inevitably do so (Plato s
Symposium, Rosen 85). I believe this particular statement to be true when searching for love because
through time, your body has the possibility of becoming weak, while on the other hand it may be
easier to keep your mind healthy and fresh. The mind can have memories and abilities that you have
had as a child all the way up to when you become elderly. The mind can remain youthful, while the
body has no choice but to age. The common lover looks for people based on how attractive they are,
or if they may be wealthy or powerful in some way. The good side of love would put the beauty of the
mind first before the body, since it can remain youthful in some sense. Those who put the love of the
body first may just keep moving on to the next one, and may not find that special person to be fully
happy and settle down with, although they may see beauty in the body, they may not see beauty in the
mind which is not clear to

Deductive and Inductive Approaches
CHAPTER ONE
DEDUCTIVE AND INDUCTIVE APPROACHES
A SHORT REVIEW
1.1. Definitions and names
When it comes to teaching grammar two main trends have been competing with one another for ages,
these are: deductive and inductive approaches. While the first one seems to be more successful as it
has continuously been applied since ancient times, the other was appreciated only in Classical,
Reneissance, 19th and 20th century (Johnson, 1999, p. 147). However, it seems to have gained real
popularity recently. We can observe (Johnson, 1999, p. 147), that the deductive approach was
extremaly in favour in the Middle Ages, 18th and 19th century, when reading, writing and translating
texts were regarded as the most important skills. Luckily, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
228). According to Trahey and White in these exercises ...learners are exposed to a high frequency of a
particular language form in the instructional input leading to better knowledge and understanding of
that form by the learners (Lightbown amp; Spada., 1999, p. 131). Pupils seem to be surrounded by the
language, on the contrary in the deductive approach learners are given selected language structures to
cope with, to complete tasks based only on this particular gramatical item. Batstone (1994) calls this
type of approach teaching grammar as product or form focused approach and sees it as a series of
controlled activities with the significant role of the teacher and a slightly limited role of the learners
(pp. 224 227). However, he does not condemn this approach, he admits it is still a very popular one
and has some advantages. As a matter of fact, Batstone agrees with Long s opinion that structures,
notions, functions, etc. cannot be acquired separately, singly, in linear additive fashion and this is the
weak point of the form focused approach, yet it provides good knowledge of rules and reinforces
students feeling of understanding the language structure and at the same time it encourages them to
continue learning. In regards to the inductive approach Batstone calls it teaching grammar as process
or meaning focused approach (pp. 224 227) and emphasises

Current State Of Fuel And World Energy Demand
Current State of fuel World Energy Demand
Post 18th Century Industrial revolution has created a dependency on fossil fuels such as coal, oil and
natural gas for all technological and transportation demands that engineer modern society. However.
Such demands, and even their expected future demands threatens the overall worlds energy supply and
generates large strains on the environment. The Hydrogen economy article published by Physics
Today in December 2004 anticipated that the world energy demand will double by 2050 in response to
population growth and industrialisation of developing countries. (Crabtree, Dresselhaus and
Buchanan, 2004).
An article by Todd Woody of The Atlantic (Woody, 2013) has stated that developing countries will
account for 65% of the world s energy consumption by 2040. The majority of such consumption being
produced by non OCED nations such as India and China. This figure was published by the United
States Energy Information Administration. This can be summarised as a 2.2% annual increase in fossil
fuel usage in non OCED countries compared to that of 0.5% in OCED communities such as some of
the EU, North America and Australia. Figure 1.1 iProjected world energy consumption (Eia.gov, 2013)
Further study has shown that due to this increased demand for fossil fuels, the Global Carbon Project
showed a 2.1% increase in greenhouse gas emissions in 2012. With 57% of those emissions coming
from developing countries. India and China contributed a third of

A Personalized Sergei Bodrov
A role in a movie is like a mirror that reflects an actor s personality. Some actors are capable of
playing certain roles but not others. If an actor can feel the role, he or she will play it naturally, as it
would resemble his or her life. Actors put their heart into playing, which gives them the model.
Through a role an actor connects to the audience who makes the final decision about the movie s
purpose; that is why it is very important to show this purpose correctly by playing it sincerely.
Personalization is a significant factor that can lead to the success or failure of a film. Sergei Bodrov Jr

Kate Chopin s Symbolism
Kate Chopin is an author who stands out to society for being primarily a skillful colorist. Chopin is
recognized for her novels and short stories written as a young adult. As an author, the literary world

Social Conflict In Edith Wharton s Roman Fever
Roman Truth Edith Wharton s Roman Fever appears to suggest that friendship built on a lie would be
destroyed because it is built on a bad foundation. In the story it shows that social status and jealousy
are important. The last sentence in Roman Fever shows that with jealously and a bad friendship can
cause problems later in life. The term jealousy shows up among the protagonist character, Grace
Ansley, who is against Alida Slade. They are two middle aged women visiting their daughters in
Rome. Alida and her husband Delphin s daughter is named Jenny Slade; Grace s daughter is named
Barbara. Alida Slade is of a high social status and Grace Ansley is not. They are old friends and haven
t seen each other for a while. Ansley had a relationship with Slade s husband Delphin before they were
married. At the end of the story it is revealed that Ansley and Delphin actually had a child, who is
Barbara. I had Barbara (1213). Slade really does not like Ansley because she found out about her
relationship with Delphin. She decides to write a note signed as Delphin to Ansley so they can meet at
the Roman Coliseum. Ansley remembers that because that is the only letter he ever wrote to her. When
Slade tells Ansley she wrote the letter Ansley is shocked, And I wrote it. Yes; I wrote it! But I was the
girl he was engaged to. Did you happen to remember that (1211). Ansley responded with I

Reflection On Electrical Engineering
ENGR10004 : ESD 1 Final Reflective Journal
For engineering study, there are four parts to introduce separately.Goal setting, Community Building,
Academic development and Personal Development. Those are the basic methods to get high level
understanding and learning.
Firstly, Setting up a goal to make sure that the final stage I want to reach.
Engineering is a very traditional subject , contain high quality technology and strong practice. It is
based on design, calculation, imagination, ability of judgment, theoretical knowledge and so on.The

As for me, these are three reasons why I still choose to study engineering. Sense of achievement, high
interest in engineering and ideal occupation for future.
Sense of achievement is the most excited emotion always make me feel satisfying . Engineering is full
of complex problem which may use knowledge in math, physics and so on. When I got problems , I

Hypothesis For Gummy Bear Lab
Purpose: The purpose of this gummy bear lab is too figure out what different types of osmosis and
diffusion can be seen during the lab. Also too see what solutions will cause the gummy bear to be
isotonic, hypotonic, or hypertonic. This will benefit people that may eat a lot of gummy bears along
with drinking sodas and juices, or water this may cause you to become more dehydrated. This will
help people who like to eat gummy bears but don t know what s best to drink with them.
Hypothesis: I think that the gummy bear in the water solution will grow the most. The gatoraid will
grow the least because it has the most sugar. And the orange Switch will be in the middle.

The results of this lab shows how osmosis, diffusion, hypertonic, and hypotonic solutions. One way
the gummy bear shows osmosis in gummy bears is how the gummy bear in the water solution grew
the most. This gummy bear grew the most because the solution had a higher concentration, this in turn
caused the solution to begin equalizing the concentration on each side of a membrane. The lab also
shows how the semi permeable membrane works; it allows only certain molecules to pass through it,
while others aren t allowed through it. The lab shows this because according to my results the semi
permeable membrane in the gummy bear allowed more water molecules to pass through it, while the
semi permeable membrane didn t let other solution molecules resulting in the water to have more
weight while the other two solutions grew less in weight. The lab also demonstrates that the solutions
with more sugar will gain less in weight. This is because the solution already has a higher
concentration inside it, so less of the solution will go inside the gummy bear. According to my results
the water is a hypotonic solution, while the Orange Switch and Gatoraid would also be a hypotonic
solution due to the fact that all he gummy bears gained mass. If it were to be a isotonic solution the
gummy bear would need to stay the same mass. If any of the solution would be a hypertonic solution
the gummy bear would to shrink in

However the terms of this letter are too vague to be construed as an offer. This is because an offer

order to determine the terms of the contract it is important to have regard to the terms of the offer only.
The only terms that could arise out of the previous negotiations are those referred to in the offer itself

particularly the case if the signed contract is seen as the basis of the agreement, which is likely. In this

Women In The Little Mermaid
The concept of portraying women as incomplete, or not fully developed, without a male counterpart to
fill the voids left in their personalities furthers the argument that films such as The Little Mermaid
allow females to feel as if they are not enough for themselves, in and of themselves. Susan White
addresses the implications of the film surrounding the outlandish expectations for women to be
confined within traditional roles in order to actually obtain the title of woman when she writes, The
film implies that the sense of freedom necessary to exploration and accomplishment must finally be
curbed if one is to become a woman (183). These feelings of inadequacy stunt the development of
strong, independent identity within females and breed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first of these problematic circumstances is the breeding of feelings of discontent in one s own
company as Ariel finds that life in her underwater kingdom is simply not enough if she cannot have
the love of a practical stranger. This idea encourages women to lower their standards for men in their
romantic endeavors simply to make themselves feel as though they are desirable. This behavior results
in toxic relationships, low self esteem, and overall dissatisfaction in matters which transcend the
relationship itself. However, if the audience is made aware of the flaws in the design of the main
character s ideals of what makes a positive and functioning relationship, the film presents an
opportunity for the audience to elaborate on the detriment brought upon the main character by her own
disregard for self preservation and lacking consideration for thoughts beyond that of hasty, misguided
affection or preventable sacrifice; regrettably, young children are often incapable of grasping this
complex this complex approach to the film. Instead they take what is presented to them at face value
and apply it to themselves in that respect alone; had The Little Mermaid been intended for older
audiences, this approach would appear more logical, but since its target audience is young children,
the effect of inverting the messages in the film to acknowledge societal flaws is lost, and the results
left upon young viewers is less

Juvenile Vs Juvenile Justice System
The criminal justice system conducts trials, determines guilt, and decides what kind of punishments to
give to adults who have committed some sort of crime. Adults, however, are not the only ones who
commit crimes. Kids under 18 can commit crimes too. In 1899, the juvenile justice system began to
form. People thought that kids should be treated differently after committing crimes. Being younger,
they were believed to be more able to rehabilitate than adults, the criminal justice system was believed
to be too harsh for them, and some believed that juvenile s behavior was based strongly on their
parents and the society they lived in. In a peer reviewed article titled Are we criminalizing
adolescence? there is a statement that in a constitutional sense, youth are different than adults. In this
essay, I will talk about what the juvenile justice system is, what it does, how it is different than the
criminal justice system, and how some people believe it should change. As stated before, the juvenile
justice system began to take form around the 19th century. A simple definition of the American
criminal justice system, provided by Wikipedia, is the primary system used to handle youth who are
convicted of criminal offenses. The main goal of the American juvenile justice system is to rehabilitate
offenders. They want to intervene early in offender s lives, hoping to prevent them from being repeat
offenders when they become adults. Another peer reviewed article titled Natural born

Bedwetting, or nocturnal enuresis, is involuntary leakage of urine during sleep in children at least five
years old. It is a common childhood condition, with one out of ten, seven year old children regularly
wetting their beds (www.niddk.nih.gov). Enuresis is classified into two categories; primary:
bedwetting in children who have never been dry for extended periods, or secondary: onset of
bedwetting after a period of established continence. The most common is primary enuresis. The
development of enuresis can be multifactorial. The results can be from the over production of urine at
night, reduced capacity of the bladder, the inability to wake up, and genetic factors. Enuresis is more
common in boys, and usually ceases between six and eight

The Benefits Of Renewable Energy
Ever since the late 19th century, people have been trying to perfect energy sources to make their lives
easier. An ideal Energy source is one that costs little to produce, little to maintain, and yields a high
energy output. We found a temporary resource that we used for over a century, coal and natural gases.
The problem with sources like these are that they will eventually run out. Renewable energy is energy
that can be produced without depletion. Human have been using a form of renewable energy for
hundreds of years, such as the watermill. Renewable energy is needed because it will never run out, it
is more efficient than today s methods, and it does not pollute the environment with greenhouse gases
such as carbon dioxide. Renewable energy has many benefits such as the unlimited supply of it.
Renewable energy comes in many forms such as solar, hydropower, and wind power. Each source can
never run out unlike the main suppliers of today will eventually run out. In a high population country
like America, you can bet that a good form of transportation is needed. In America, the main source of
transportation is cars but planes, trains and boats also largely contribute to CO2
Emissions. The average American uses approximately 23.4 barrels of oil a year. This plus the amount
of people living in the U.S. equates to 20.7 million barrels each day. This leads to the U.S. importing
2/3rds of its oil from other countries. Since 1999, the oil in these countries have depleted

toward Tilly.
On Sai s return home, Tilly makes an effort to relieve Sai of his anger. In return, Sai turns off his

visited Jenny looking for answers. Jenny was pleased to see him and debriefed him on everything Tilly

control the material that should and should not be seen. Due to what Jenny has now told him, and the
proof she has provided, Sai has become invested in taking down Centillion. Once Jenny and Sai call it

however he did not turn her back on. I thought I turned you off, Tilly, with a hardware switch (Liu) Sai

Ozone Depletion
The ozone layer is a specific area in the stratosphere of maximum ozone concentration. Ozone in the
stratosphere forms naturally and protects us from damage that can be caused by solar radiation such as
skin cancer. In the 1970s chemists discovered that certain chemicals could travel into the upper
atmosphere and damage the protective ozone. Ever since this was discovered scientists, government,
and citizens have been making efforts to control and reverse the damage done to the ozone. In 1987 a
treaty called the Montreal Protocol on Substances That Deplete the Ozone Layer was signed by world
leaders who were participating in the Vienna Convention on the Protection of the Ozone Layer.
Without this protocol the abundances of chlorine would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One particular part of the interview that was interesting to me was when the woman, Adele, called in
and asked how chlorine commonly used in swimming pools affected the ozone. Russell Schnell told
her that chlorine does not make it up into the stratosphere because it is oxidized. The only way that
chlorine gets up into the stratosphere is if it is carried up with chemicals that it is bound to. Once it is
in the stratosphere the sunlight breaks off the chlorine. I simply assumed that when someone drains
their pool at the end of the summer the water would evaporate and the chlorine would then rise up into
the stratosphere. From this I know now that chlorine must be bound to other chemicals in order to
make it up that far. In 2011 there was record ozone depletion over the Arctic that is far worse than the
holes in the Antarctic s protective atmospheric layer that first appeared in the 1980s. There are
concerns that the Northern Hemisphere may periodically experience harmful levels of ultraviolet
radiation in the spring. Chemist Geir Braathen said it was significantly worse than anything we had
ever seen. Typically spring ozone depletions maxes out at 20 to 30 percent drop but in 2011 there was
a loss of about 40 percent. In Antarctica 70 percent of ozone can disappear in the spring time. The
ozone layer is vital in protecting us from the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation.

Animal Testing Is Not All Humane And Pain Free
An estimated 26 million animals are used every year in the united states for scientific and commercial
testing (ProCon.org). We are rapidly using up the earth s supply of small animals. A 2011 poll of
nearly 1,000 biomedical scientists conducted by the science journal Nature found that more than 90%
agreed that the use of animals in research is essential (ProCon.org). Right now, millions of mice, rats,
rabbits, cats, dogs, and other animals are locked up in cages and are getting killed for scientific tests to
create products and medicines. Thus, animal testing is cruel and inhumane to be experimenting on
animals, there are alternative methods available to researchers to replace animal testing, and that
animals are so different from human beings that research on animals often yields irrelevant results.
First, Animals used for scientific testing is cruel and inhumane because animal s experience feelings
just like humans. What I discovered in my research is that animal testing is not all humane and pain
free as most people think. The US Department of Agriculture reported in 2010 that 97,123 animals
suffered pain during experiments while being given no anesthesia for relief (ProCon.org). If humans
receive anesthesia during surgeries, then so should the animals. These animals undergo procedures
that cause these animals to feel 100% pain. Although animal testing may seem environmentally
friendly, animals are subjected to force feeding, food and water deprivation, and the

  • 2. Racial Disparities Of African Americans Over the past few decades, there have been a series of African Americans killed by law enforcement officers. Trayvon Martin, Mike Brown, John Crawford III, Eric Garner and countless others. The aftermath: the officers who murdered the unarmed men have either been acquitted or there was no indictment. What happened in Ferguson is years, if not decades in the making. African Americans are simply tired of having to bury friends and family and discovering the officers, meant to protect the law and serve the people, are killing black lives and are almost always found not guilty. The racial disparities against African Americans lies is shameful, but not surprising. Race matters in the United States. People of color do not receive the same benefits and equality as white people; whether it be in education, the workplace and in the judicial system. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the racial disparities to African Americans in what subsequently led to the Black lives Matter movement. I have chosen a series of photos that capture historical events of protests and movements including an analysis of one of my images. Racial disparities and inequality dates all the way back to slavery: when whites abused, raped, tortured and killed black people. Slavery transformed America into an economic power; the exploitation of black people made the south the richest and most politically powerful region in the country (ABS). Black people did not have any rights, instead they were forced ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Summary Of On Dumpster Diving Nic Laycock J.Berte Composition 1 FD16 Summary and Analysis On Dumpster Diving Lars Eighner s On Dumpster Diving (Published is a first person informative essay that explores the art of Dumpster diving. Almost presented as a user guide or instructional piece his key message is about the wastefulness of consumers and the shallowness of materialism. About a year before he became homeless, Eighner began sourcing all of his life necessities from dumpsters because of a lack of money as all his income was spent on rent. He makes the claim that it is possible to survive and be content with life simply by living off the refuse and waste of others. Through his experiences as a scavenger, Eighner educates and teaches others about dumpster diving and materialism. He states I have learned much as a scavenger. I mean to put some of what I have learned down here, beginning with the practical art of Dumpster diving and proceeding to the abstract. (560) Eighner begins by revealing the most ... Eighner s idea of the transience of material living is that in the end material possessions are meaningless. Eighner has learnt through his loss of these items that life experience and knowledge will outlast any tangible item, he states some material things are white elephants that eat up the possessor s substance (568). Eighner argues that materialistic objects themselves are not as important as the sentiments behind them. The fact that Eighner can survive and live happily off others waste effectively persuades the reader to reflect and ask questions of themselves. What items do they value and does it really make them happy? Could they survive without it? Do they throw good things ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. A Mermaid Research Paper I live on a planet named Oceano, created by the Great Poseidon. Eighty percent of the planet is composed of water and eighty five percent of the population are mermaids and mermen. For centuries we have lived in a world of peace with the humans and have created an everlasting friendship. Everything was perfect until yesterday, when the humans decided to strip us of our most valuable treasure, the fountain of youth and fortune. This has caused chaos in the water, and infuriated my father, the King of the Ocean. Not only do I see this as a betrayal from the humans, but as a chance to prove myself to all the mermaids, mermen, and my father who I truly am. Today I have begun my quest for the fountain of youth and fortune. The witch of the ocean has agreed to turn me in to human until I could find the fountain and once I touch the ocean s water I would be a mermaid again. I must do it for the good of our ... And for a second, I forgot my purpose. Without thinking again, I closed my eyes and dashed towards him. I opened my eyes once again and saw his hazel eyes, that reflected the entire world, set on me. He reached for me and threw me across the room. He had more strength than any other human I had seen, but I knew I could take him. I hastily got up and made a run for his spear, at the same time he did. He was quick but not quick enough, I grabbed the spear and aimed it at his heart just as he pulled a blade from his belt. The spear went through his heart before he had the chance to stab me with the blade. As he died, the powers of the fountain had no effect on him and he began to reveal himself. • 6. The Importance Of Human Nature In Cory Doctorow s Little... Cory Doctorow s Little Brother is an excellent novel that combines technology and rebellion all into one book. A group of teenagers living in San Francisco become prisoners of a terrorist attack investigation when they are arrested and brought to an island by the Department of Homeland Security. They are treated awfully despite not having committed a single crime. The main character, Marcus, deems it is in his hands to take down the DHS and get revenge for what they ve done. The Bay Bridge bombing and terrorist attack, the awful treatment of the characters by the DHS, and Marcus good efforts to seek revenge, all have an impact on human nature. Doctorow s novel shows how acts of conflict can expose the cruelty of human nature as they can inflict tremendous pain on the vulnerable, but sometimes they can even cause a positive outcome. Organizing a terrorist attack reveals one s true human nature simply by having created such a vicious and cruel conflict. Within the beginning of the novel, the Bay Bridge in San Francisco was bombed and thousands of people got injured and many died. Having said that, one can infer just by recognizing the situation at hand, that the person who orchestrated the attack, was not in a positive mental state. Marcus, a character in the novel said, Terrorists don t hate landmarks or bridges or airplanes. They just want to screw stuff up and make people scared (Doctorow 73). Marcus emphasizes in this line that terrorists reveal their human nature ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Internal Medicine Clerkship Research Paper I still remember something one of my college professors told me on the last day of his class: Never stop being curious, he said. I liked his message; it was simple without being trite. To me, it emphasized following a path in life that is intellectually stimulating and promotes lifelong learning. Those words still resonate loudly with me today as I prepare for my journey towards residency and what I hope will prove to be a long and rewarding career in medicine. As a third year medical student, several factors motivated me to choose a residency in Internal Medicine. During my Internal Medicine clerkship, I experienced the intricate thought processes involved in treating patients with multiple co morbidities, as well as the energy and compassion ... For these reasons, a career in Internal Medicine would satisfy both my thirst for knowledge and my desire for strong patient relationships. Furthermore, I know that I have the skill set and the drive that will help me become a caring and competent physician. My involvement in activities both inside and outside of medicine has made me well rounded and enables me to work effectively with different types of people in various situations. • 8. Society s Preoccupation With Risk The risk society has created a risk awareness in the Criminal Justice System. Professionals have become anxious of the hazards presented by modernisation , new innovative strategies to deal with the risks, and technological advances. These developments have caused uncertainty, creating further risks and a collective vulnerability to risk awareness (Giddens, 1991). This assignment will critically analyse the way in which society s preoccupation with risk, influences the way in which the probation service and police work. The first part of this paper will discuss the significate changes to probation practice, by reviewing probation history from the 1960s in England and Wales. Discussing how influential penal trends, policy and practice evolution, have resulted in social work and probation work training becoming detached (Robinson and McNeill, 2004). Retributivism theory in a culture of risk will be studied, with the recommendations to punishment examined. The what works agenda (Martinson, 1974) will be discussed progressing on to the emergence of populist punitiveness , and critically examining the correlation with risk theory. Focusing on the progression of probation practice in late modernity, and the use of risk assessments, it focuses on the risk instruments of clinical, actuarial and mixed approaches. Attention is also given to Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA), and how the probation service and police, work together to protect the public ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The eardrum is a thin, round tissue inside of the ear that separates the ear canal from the middle ear. The eardrum is also called the tympanic membrane. It transfers sound vibrations through small bones in the middle ear to the hearing nerve in the inner ear. It also protects the middle ear from germs. An eardrum rupture can cause pain and hearing loss. CAUSES Eardrum rupture results from a sudden injury (trauma). This may be caused by: Inserting a thin, sharp object into the ear canal. • 10. Compare And Contrast Lincoln s Second Inaugural Address Lincoln s presidency is typically characterized by the abolition of slavery. While important, it often overshadows other objectives he had for the country. After Lincoln issued The Emancipation Proclamation, he had new plans for America. Lincoln weaved rhetorical strategies into his second inaugural address to promote his vision for the future of the nation. As Civil War was nearing an end, Lincoln s goal was to create a unified nation of peace. He hoped the Union and Confederacy could put aside their differences and hatreds and reestablish harmony. The differences between the North and South were extreme. Lincoln s goal was to show that the Union and Confederacy had similarities that could foster peace between them. First he contrasted the two, saying the North aimed to save the Union, while the south aimed to destroy it. He also contrasted their belief of slavery on a federal level. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He compared the religious backgrounds of both sides, saying they prayed to the same god, and read the same bible. Lincoln intended this to pacify either side, since religion was common ground between them. This religious allusion promoted Lincoln s vision, since the Union and Confederacy could use religious similarity as a foundation for peace. It also helped connect them, since many people bond over shared religious beliefs. Lincoln also used biblical references to give an explanation of why peace was possible. By the will of the Almighty, the Civil War was a necessary woe to compensate for the offense of slavery. The conflict over slavery was the cause of the war and the cause of the nation s internal chaos. However, The Emancipation Proclamation ended the offense and ended the initial conflict. Lincoln believed this meant the United States could reunify. His reasoning promoted his peaceful vision of the future, since slavery had ended, war was no longer the will of the ... While both are widely eaten and made, pancakes, with their easy assembly, creativity, and versatility, are the superior breakfast food. Both pancakes and waffles are popular breakfast foods that everyone has eaten. I too have had, and made, many pancakes and waffles in my lifetime. Pancakes are far easier to assemble. They only require premade pancake mix, a stove, and a pan. Everyone has these things! A waffle iron, however, is much harder to come by. Waffle irons also constrict creativity. • 12. The Bus Lane At Lion s Park Train Station The number nine bus, packed full of students eager to get home, pulled into the bus lane at Lion s Park train station. Halfway there, I thought, happy to be done with another stressful day of classes. After most of the other passengers disembark to board the train, those of us which stay on the bus each have our own seats. The bus driver steps off the bus, as he does each day, to smoke a cigarette. Each day I contemplate how the complex interplay of individuals can become simple routine, reduced to the same exhausted ride to school every morning, matched to the seemingly endless ride home every afternoon. I wouldn t be able to cope with the chaos that some people enjoy, I prefer my simple, reliable routines. Nevertheless, every day I contemplate the paths each of the passengers had to follow for this scene to play out as it does each day. The path that inevitably leads to me sitting on the bus and watching the driver smoke his cigarette at the same time, in the same place, five out of seven days a week. I look up to another familiar scene playing out beyond the Plexiglas windows of the bus: a group of homeless men passing their days exposed to the elements. • 13. Mainstreaming Of Children With Disabilities Mainstreaming of Children with Disabilities One of the most important factors in a well, social functioning child with a disability is education. Proper education will offer a child the opportunity to be successful on a higher level than a child without an education. When a child enters the school system they are entering in an environment that is unfamiliar and challenging. Children with physical disabilities and lack of full cognitive reasoning, sense their differences around other children. According to Welsh, Parke, Widaman, O Neil, 2001; Social ability can have a significant impact on a child s academic success in the classroom . Social skills are a very important factor when it comes to educating children with disabilities. Lack of social skills could show feelings of anxiety and depression which will affect their learning. A child with anxiety and or depression would probably be noticeable to other children causing social awkwardness. Physical disabilities can also be a social challenge in any setting, curiosity of the unknown by surrounding children can present insecurities for a child with a physical disability. This may cause a child to retreat from social activities, because they fear the questions, staring and difference of treatment. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law on July 26, 1990, by President George H.W. Bush. • 15. Hamlet Ophelia Essay Ophelia s character in Shakespeare s Hamlet has been subject to a wealth of different interpretations, and because her characterization greatly influences the plot of the play, it is important to interpret Shakespeare s original intentions concerning Ophelia with due diligence. Ophelia s role in the play changes as the play progresses. At first she is used to find out the source of Hamlet s apparent madness, for he was infatuated with her, and Polonius, Ophelia s father, believed that Hamlet was driven mad with longing for his daughter. Polonius then instructs Ophelia to to give back the love letters that Hamlet gave her, increasing her influence on the plot as she takes action against Hamlet. But her most essential role in the play comes after Hamlet accidentally kills Polonius. Her reaction to her father s death takes up a good portion of act four as Shakespeare ties her into the play s themes of sanity, or lack thereof, grief, betrayal, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Her true nature becomes apparent as she completely falls apart. She sings in front of the queen and king, Before you tumbled me, you promised me to wed (Hamlet 4.5.67 68). This alludes to how Ophelia was not as innocent as she appeared, and that not only had Ophelia and Hamlet cared for each other, but that they had slept together before marriage. This loss of virtue should come as a shock to the audience if Ophelia s character is presented correctly, for they would be entirely unaware of Ophelia s impurity. The fact that she is singing also reveals more about Ophelia s character, because it shows a loss of touch with reality. Correspondingly, Ophelia should be characterized as incensed and heartbroken, for not only has she suffered the loss of her father, but a betrayal by the man she once loved who killed him. Here the audience should discover that Ophelia is not the impassive character she seemed to be in the beginning, but that she is deeply ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the beginning, Goeth and Schindler were both power hungry and egotistical. However, as the movie continues, several notable instances demonstrate the juxtaposition between the men. In Schindler s List, the evidence that marks Goeth as a static character and Schindler as a dynamic character is apparent. While Schindler evolves from a narcissist to a hero, Goeth remains a savage. • 18. Deductive and Inductive Approaches CHAPTER ONE DEDUCTIVE AND INDUCTIVE APPROACHES A SHORT REVIEW 1.1. Definitions and names When it comes to teaching grammar two main trends have been competing with one another for ages, these are: deductive and inductive approaches. While the first one seems to be more successful as it has continuously been applied since ancient times, the other was appreciated only in Classical, Reneissance, 19th and 20th century (Johnson, 1999, p. 147). However, it seems to have gained real popularity recently. We can observe (Johnson, 1999, p. 147), that the deductive approach was extremaly in favour in the Middle Ages, 18th and 19th century, when reading, writing and translating texts were regarded as the most important skills. Pupils seem to be surrounded by the language, on the contrary in the deductive approach learners are given selected language structures to cope with, to complete tasks based only on this particular gramatical item. Batstone (1994) calls this type of approach teaching grammar as product or form focused approach and sees it as a series of controlled activities with the significant role of the teacher and a slightly limited role of the learners (pp. 224 227). However, he does not condemn this approach, he admits it is still a very popular one and has some advantages. As a matter of fact, Batstone agrees with Long s opinion that structures, notions, functions, etc. cannot be acquired separately, singly, in linear additive fashion and this is the weak point of the form focused approach, yet it provides good knowledge of rules and reinforces students feeling of understanding the language structure and at the same time it encourages them to continue learning. The lab also shows how the semi permeable membrane works; it allows only certain molecules to pass through it, while others aren t allowed through it. The lab shows this because according to my results the semi permeable membrane in the gummy bear allowed more water molecules to pass through it, while the semi permeable membrane didn t let other solution molecules resulting in the water to have more weight while the other two solutions grew less in weight. The lab also demonstrates that the solutions with more sugar will gain less in weight. This is because the solution already has a higher concentration inside it, so less of the solution will go inside the gummy bear. Adults, however, are not the only ones who commit crimes. Kids under 18 can commit crimes too. In 1899, the juvenile justice system began to form. People thought that kids should be treated differently after committing crimes. Being younger, they were believed to be more able to rehabilitate than adults, the criminal justice system was believed to be too harsh for them, and some believed that juvenile s behavior was based strongly on their parents and the society they lived in. An ideal Energy source is one that costs little to produce, little to maintain, and yields a high energy output. We found a temporary resource that we used for over a century, coal and natural gases. The problem with sources like these are that they will eventually run out. Renewable energy is energy that can be produced without depletion. Human have been using a form of renewable energy for hundreds of years, such as the watermill. Renewable energy is needed because it will never run out, it is more efficient than today s methods, and it does not pollute the environment with greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide. Due to what Jenny has now told him, and the proof she has provided, Sai has become invested in taking down Centillion. Once Jenny and Sai call it a night, they both go to sleep. Then Miles Davis begins to play. It is Sai s daily wakeup from Tilly, however he did not turn her back on. I thought I turned you off, Tilly, with a hardware switch (Liu) Sai said, however he had to keep his cool so Tilly would not pick up on any inconsistencies and suspicion . He then decided to leave her in his home because he was going out jogging (Liu). He was really going to Jenny s apartment to tell her the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Ozone Depletion The ozone layer is a specific area in the stratosphere of maximum ozone concentration. Ozone in the stratosphere forms naturally and protects us from damage that can be caused by solar radiation such as skin cancer. In the 1970s chemists discovered that certain chemicals could travel into the upper atmosphere and damage the protective ozone. Ever since this was discovered scientists, government, and citizens have been making efforts to control and reverse the damage done to the ozone. In 1987 a treaty called the Montreal Protocol on Substances That Deplete the Ozone Layer was signed by world leaders who were participating in the Vienna Convention on the Protection of the Ozone Layer. Without this protocol the abundances of chlorine would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One particular part of the interview that was interesting to me was when the woman, Adele, called in and asked how chlorine commonly used in swimming pools affected the ozone. Russell Schnell told her that chlorine does not make it up into the stratosphere because it is oxidized. The only way that chlorine gets up into the stratosphere is if it is carried up with chemicals that it is bound to. Once it is in the stratosphere the sunlight breaks off the chlorine. I simply assumed that when someone drains their pool at the end of the summer the water would evaporate and the chlorine would then rise up into the stratosphere. From this I know now that chlorine must be bound to other chemicals in order to make it up that far. In 2011 there was record ozone depletion over the Arctic that is far worse than the holes in the Antarctic s protective atmospheric layer that first appeared in the 1980s. There are concerns that the Northern Hemisphere may periodically experience harmful levels of ultraviolet radiation in the spring. Chemist Geir Braathen said it was significantly worse than anything we had ever seen. Typically spring ozone depletions maxes out at 20 to 30 percent drop but in 2011 there was a loss of about 40 percent. In Antarctica 70 percent of ozone can disappear in the spring time. The ozone layer is vital in protecting us from the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. Animal Testing Is Not All Humane And Pain Free An estimated 26 million animals are used every year in the united states for scientific and commercial testing (ProCon.org). We are rapidly using up the earth s supply of small animals. A 2011 poll of nearly 1,000 biomedical scientists conducted by the science journal Nature found that more than 90% agreed that the use of animals in research is essential (ProCon.org). Right now, millions of mice, rats, rabbits, cats, dogs, and other animals are locked up in cages and are getting killed for scientific tests to create products and medicines. Thus, animal testing is cruel and inhumane to be experimenting on animals, there are alternative methods available to researchers to replace animal testing, and that animals are so different from human beings that research on animals often yields irrelevant results. First, Animals used for scientific testing is cruel and inhumane because animal s experience feelings just like humans. What I discovered in my research is that animal testing is not all humane and pain free as most people think. The US Department of Agriculture reported in 2010 that 97,123 animals suffered pain during experiments while being given no anesthesia for relief (ProCon.org). If humans receive anesthesia during surgeries, then so should the animals. These animals undergo procedures that cause these animals to feel 100% pain. Although animal testing may seem environmentally friendly, animals are subjected to force feeding, food and water deprivation, and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
