SF-T5-25-01-PF of SPICE Model (Choke Coil , TDK)
The document reports on the modeling of a choke coil with part number SF-T5-25-01-PF manufactured by TDK. An equivalent circuit model was developed using the auto-balancing bridge method and optimized over a frequency range of 100Hz to 100MHz. The model was validated through comparison of simulated and measured impedance characteristics, showing errors less than 5% across the frequency range.
DWS vs CST CABLE STUDIO SIMULATION SPEEDUP
A classical way to model lossy TL is to apply the Vector Fitting (VF) technique to theoretical frequency domain impedance expression taking into account both conductor and dielectric losses. The resulting poles and zeros can be implemented by a cascade of unit cells containing a lumped RLC circuit and a transmission line. To get a wideband (40Ghz) model a suitable number of cells and a sub-picosecond simulation time step are required to get accurate results. This VF technique has been applied to a RG58 coaxial cable and the resulting circuit has been simulated in time domain using DWS. The results are then compared at 40Gb/s to those coming from CST Cable Studio up showing a very good agreement with a DWS/CST speedup of about 710X.

A Technique for Dynamic Range Improvement of Intermodulation Distortion Produ...
This paper describes a phase switching algorithm for Interpolating Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) based Arbitrary Waveform Generators (AWG). This was possible by using the standard phase switching algorithm with the addition of simple phase offset and systematic phase difference adjustment; this was discovered by experimenting with suppression of the intermodulation distortion (IMD) components of a two-tone signal. In this case, we examine the 3rd, 5th and 7th order IMD tones and the effect of the phase switching algorithm and phase shift has on the AWG by measurement with a digitizer. Then we show what the effect of the developed two-tone phase switching technique has upon the performance measurement of a 16-bit Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC). It is shown that using the original algorithm, no improvement could be achieved for the odd order IMD products. However, by using an even order suppression technique (another phase difference) with a phase shift, a suppression was achieved compared to the standard two-tone signal generation (without phase switching). We show how this technique allows the use of a low-cost tester resource to test IMD products with a higher dynamic range than was previously possible.
Smart mm-Wave Beam Steering Algorithm for Fast Link Re-Establishment under No...
Millimeter-wave (mm-wave) wireless local area networks (WLANs) are expected to provide multi-Gbps connectivity by exploiting a large amount of unoccupied spectrum in e.g. the unlicensed 60 GHz band. However, to overcome the high path loss inherent at these high frequencies, mm-wave networks must employ highly directional beamforming antennas, which make link establishment and maintenance much more challenging than in traditional omnidirectional networks. In particular, maintaining connectivity under node mobility necessitates frequent re-steering of the transmit and receive antenna beams to re-establish a directional mm-wave link. A simple exhaustive sequential scanning to search for new feasible antenna sector pairs may introduce excessive delay, potentially disrupting communication and lowering the QoS. In this paper, we propose a smart beam steering algorithm for fast 60 GHz link re-establishment under node mobility, which uses knowledge of previously feasible sector pairs to narrow the sector search space, thereby reducing the associated latency overhead. We evaluate the performance of our algorithm in several representative indoor scenarios, based on detailed simulations of signal propagation in a 60 GHz WLAN in WinProp with realistic building materials. We study the effect of indoor layout, antenna sector beamwidth, node mobility pattern, and device orientation awareness. Our results show that the smart beam steering algorithm achieves a 7-fold reduction of the sector search space on average, which directly translates into lower 60 GHz link re-establishment latency. Our results also show that our fast search algorithm selects the near-optimal antenna sector pair for link re-establishment.
Ecotect Sound Analysis

Experimental Evaluation of a Novel Fast Beamsteering Algorithm for Link Re-Es...
The millimeter-wave (mm-wave) bands are currently being explored for multi-Gbps wireless local area networks (WLANs). Directional antennas are required to overcome the high attenuation inherent at the mm-wave frequencies. However, directionality makes link maintenance and establishment tasks complex, especially under node mobility, as slight misalignment of antenna beams between nodes leads to link disruption. Consequently, low latency beamsteering algorithms are needed for fast link re-establishment to support seamless data provisioning. Solutions based on exhaustive sequential scanning induce high latency, thereby disrupting communication. On the other hand, existing low latency proposals typically consider only static links, depend on additional hardware, or require a priori information about the network environment. In this paper, we propose a generic, fast mm-wave beamsteering algorithm that utilizes the previous valid link information to initiate the feasible antenna sector pair search and adaptively increases the sector search space around it to re-establish a link. Additionally, we experimentally evaluate the performance of our algorithm through measurements conducted in a real indoor environment using 60 GHz packet radio transceivers. The results show that, compared to exhaustive sequential scanning, our algorithm reduces the required sector search space, and thereby the link re-establishment latency, by 89% on average compared to exhaustive sequential scanning.

Microstrip line fed stacked layer e shaped patch antenna for wlan
The design of stacked layer E-shaped microstrip patch antenna for wideband
operation in the 5-6 GHz frequency range has been presented in this paper. The antenna is
Microstrip line feeded. The Roger RO4350 of 1.6 mm height with relative permittivity of
3.66 and dielectric loss tangent of 0.004 has been used as the substrate on which the patch is
placed. An air box of 2mm height has been introduced between substrate and the ground. The
ANSOFT HFSS software has been used for designing the antenna. High performance
characteristics and good impedance matching have been obtained. The antenna is resonating
at 5.36 GHz with a return loss of -56.5 dB. A maximum gain of 5.3 dB has been obtained in
E-plane. The proposed antenna is suitable for WLAN and WiMax applications operating
within 5.15-5.85 GHz frequency band.

Comparative Analysis for Different Stack Shaped Microstrip Patch Antenna
A compact stack antenna consisting of square patch, loop couplers and inset feed line is reviewed in this work. This proposed design represents a stacked patch antenna having an arrangement of two substrates separated by an air gape and a coupling is provided using square loop structure. The structure is reviewed in two different directions firstly the feed arrangement is varied and secondly a variation in coupler structure is done to make the antenna work at multiple frequencies in UWB range. The simulation results of this work with different resonator structure and feed structures are presented and comparative analysis of these different arrangements is presented in this paper. Simulation results obtained from the proposed antenna for return loss, polar radiation and pattern voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) shows its suitability for ultra wide band application.

A Technique for Dynamic Range Improvement of Intermodulation Distortion Produ...
This paper describes a phase switching algorithm for Interpolating Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) based Arbitrary Waveform Generators (AWG). This was possible by using the standard phase switching algorithm with the addition of simple phase offset and systematic phase difference adjustment; this was discovered by experimenting with suppression of the intermodulation distortion (IMD) components of a two-tone signal. In this case, we examine the 3rd, 5th and 7th order IMD tones and the effect of the phase switching algorithm and phase shift has on the AWG by measurement with a digitizer. Then we show what the effect of the developed two-tone phase switching technique has upon the performance measurement of a 16-bit Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC). It is shown that using the original algorithm, no improvement could be achieved for the odd order IMD products. However, by using an even order suppression technique (another phase difference) with a phase shift, a suppression was achieved compared to the standard two-tone signal generation (without phase switching). We show how this technique allows the use of a low-cost tester resource to test IMD products with a higher dynamic range than was previously possible.
Smart mm-Wave Beam Steering Algorithm for Fast Link Re-Establishment under No...
Millimeter-wave (mm-wave) wireless local area networks (WLANs) are expected to provide multi-Gbps connectivity by exploiting a large amount of unoccupied spectrum in e.g. the unlicensed 60 GHz band. However, to overcome the high path loss inherent at these high frequencies, mm-wave networks must employ highly directional beamforming antennas, which make link establishment and maintenance much more challenging than in traditional omnidirectional networks. In particular, maintaining connectivity under node mobility necessitates frequent re-steering of the transmit and receive antenna beams to re-establish a directional mm-wave link. A simple exhaustive sequential scanning to search for new feasible antenna sector pairs may introduce excessive delay, potentially disrupting communication and lowering the QoS. In this paper, we propose a smart beam steering algorithm for fast 60 GHz link re-establishment under node mobility, which uses knowledge of previously feasible sector pairs to narrow the sector search space, thereby reducing the associated latency overhead. We evaluate the performance of our algorithm in several representative indoor scenarios, based on detailed simulations of signal propagation in a 60 GHz WLAN in WinProp with realistic building materials. We study the effect of indoor layout, antenna sector beamwidth, node mobility pattern, and device orientation awareness. Our results show that the smart beam steering algorithm achieves a 7-fold reduction of the sector search space on average, which directly translates into lower 60 GHz link re-establishment latency. Our results also show that our fast search algorithm selects the near-optimal antenna sector pair for link re-establishment.
Ecotect Sound Analysis

The millimeter-wave (mm-wave) bands are currently being explored for multi-Gbps wireless local area networks (WLANs). Directional antennas are required to overcome the high attenuation inherent at the mm-wave frequencies. However, directionality makes link maintenance and establishment tasks complex, especially under node mobility, as slight misalignment of antenna beams between nodes leads to link disruption. Consequently, low latency beamsteering algorithms are needed for fast link re-establishment to support seamless data provisioning. Solutions based on exhaustive sequential scanning induce high latency, thereby disrupting communication. On the other hand, existing low latency proposals typically consider only static links, depend on additional hardware, or require a priori information about the network environment. In this paper, we propose a generic, fast mm-wave beamsteering algorithm that utilizes the previous valid link information to initiate the feasible antenna sector pair search and adaptively increases the sector search space around it to re-establish a link. Additionally, we experimentally evaluate the performance of our algorithm through measurements conducted in a real indoor environment using 60 GHz packet radio transceivers. The results show that, compared to exhaustive sequential scanning, our algorithm reduces the required sector search space, and thereby the link re-establishment latency, by 89% on average compared to exhaustive sequential scanning.

operation in the 5-6 GHz frequency range has been presented in this paper. The antenna is
Microstrip line feeded. The Roger RO4350 of 1.6 mm height with relative permittivity of
3.66 and dielectric loss tangent of 0.004 has been used as the substrate on which the patch is
placed. An air box of 2mm height has been introduced between substrate and the ground. The
ANSOFT HFSS software has been used for designing the antenna. High performance
characteristics and good impedance matching have been obtained. The antenna is resonating
at 5.36 GHz with a return loss of -56.5 dB. A maximum gain of 5.3 dB has been obtained in
E-plane. The proposed antenna is suitable for WLAN and WiMax applications operating
within 5.15-5.85 GHz frequency band.

HFSS ANTENNA FOR KU BAND WITH DEFECTED GROUND STRUCTURES
A wide band Microstrip antenna is proposed for Ku band applications with defected groundd structure. A circular shape defect is integrated in the ground plane. A novel equivalent circuit model is proposed for Microstrip patch antenna with defected ground structure. Accurate design equations are presented for the wideband Microstrip antenna and theoretical analysis is done for the proposed structure. The proposed antenna has an impedance bandwidth of 56.67% ranging from 9.8 GHz to 17.55 GHz, which covers Ku-band and partially X-band. The antenna shows good radiation characteristics within the entire band, and has a gain ranging from 5 dBi to 12.08 dBi. Minimum isolation between co-polar and cross-polarization level of 20 dB and 15 dB is achieved in H-plane and E-plane respectively. The simulation of the proposed antenna is done on HFSS v.13, and measured results of fabricated antenna are in good agreement with the theoretical and simulated results

This paper presents the design & simulation of E-shape microstrip patch antenna exhibiting wideband operating frequencies for various wireless applications. This antenna will provide the wide bandwidth which is required in various applications like remote sensing, biomedical application, mobile radio satellite, wireless communication etc. The coaxial feed or probe feed technique is used in the experiment. The performance of the designed antenna was analyzed in terms of bandwidth, gain, return loss, VSWR, and radiation pattern. The design is optimized to meet the best possible result. The proposed antenna is designed by air substrate which has a dielectric constant of 1.0006. The results show the wideband antenna is able to operate from 8.80 to 13.49 GHz frequency band with optimum frequency at 8.73 GHz.
