Globalization And The Rise Of Globalization
There is controversy over when globalization began because there is no crystal clear start to
globalization. Some people believe that globalization started when the Buddhist leader Chandragupta
combined aspects of trade, religion, and military to create a protected trading area. Others believe that
globalization began under Genghis Khan s rule. The Mongolian warrior ruler created an empire that
had trade integrated into it. There are also some experts that believe that the rise of globalization was
linked to 1492, the year Christopher Columbus made his first trip to the New World.
2.
Phases/Rounds: Explanation:
First Round In this phase, ideas, knowledge, and goods are exchanged through trading and encounters.
The Arabs were one of the first people that transferred and exchanged their knowledge of the world
(medicine, mathematics, and sciences) with the Europeans.
Second Round ( Historical Globalization ) The second round began in the 1400s, when technology
enabled more opportunities. The growth of globalization was also immensely linked to imperialism
since the capture of one country led to exploration of the ideas and cultures, and trading within said
country.
Third Round
( Contemporary Globalization ) The modern world is in the third phase, which occurred post World
War II. Globalization shifted from the second phase into third because of instant communications and
rapid growth of the world market.
The key element that caused modern globalization according to O Rouke

Plea Bargaining Case
There are many Organizational decisions that went into the plea bargain found in the case study. Plea
Bargaining are an important tool used in the modern criminal court system. Plea bargaining can
conclude a criminal case without a trail. When it is successful, plea bargaining results in a plea
agreement between the prosecutor and defendant. In this agreement, the defendant agrees to plead
guilty without trail, and in return, the prosecutor agrees to dismiss certain charges or make favorable
sentence recommendations to the court.(Legal Dictionary ) The first organizational decision that was

(Legal Dictionary) In the criminal court system court time in very valuable and should only be used
when necessary. Plea bargaining helps create efficiency in the court system because rather than using
resources to take the defendant to court they can settle a deal out of court. Resulting in a benefit for
both parties. The defendant will benefit from the plea because they could avoid jail time or even a
shorter sentence. The prosecution will benefit because they are evaluated in large part according to
their conviction rates and all plea bargains result in a conviction because the defendant must plead
guilty as part of the plea agreement. (Legal Dictionary) In another case the prosecution talked how the
defendant had been acquitted by a jury after the county spent a million dollars on the case. The
prosecution states that they tried to bargain with the defendant, but frankly they had a weak case and
how they tried to cut the defendant a deal but they ended up taking the defendant to court and wasting
the courts resources. When reviewing this case one can see the importance of plea bargaining. If the
defendant had taken the plea bargain the court would have saved its

Shakespeare s Treatment Of Women In Othello
Objectified and Mistreated
Analysis of Shakespeare s Treatment of Women in the plays Hamlet, Othello, Macbeth, Lear, Much
Ado about Nothing, and Tempest Women have always played a large role in society. It is arguable that
without women, the world could not possibly exist. Well, humans would not exist. This ultimately
suggests that women are needed very much. Without women, men are nothing. Men cannot exist
without women. Why then, are women oftentimes treated so badly throughout history? Taking a look
at how women have been treated, it can be observed that they have been severely mistreated. Even in
other cultures, they are extremely mistreated. It s assumed that women are ultimately the weaker sex
and are dependent on men. This is in fact, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The men in this play completely misunderstand women. There are multiple stereotypes and women
are expected to adhere to the patriarchal rules that are forced upon them. When the women do not
adhere to these rules, they are ultimately punished by Shakespeare by being killed. All the women in
this play are portrayed as weak and unable to protect themselves against the men. The nature of
women is portrayed once again as the weaker sex. Women were ultimately unable to protect
themselves from the men, and this caused the men to be extremely dominant, aggressive, and assert
their authority. Desdemona was a very feminine woman. She was extremely obedient and this caused
the men to be even more dominant. She was also a very passive woman which ended up being a curse
to her in the end. Othello gets very jealous and hits Desdemona. Since she is the weaker sex according
to Shakespeare, she cannot defend herself against Othello because she is not equipped or prepared to
do so. Desdemona is depicted in a stereotypical way, and Othello sees her in that way as well.
Everything she does strengthens his belief in the stereotype. This stereotype is used as an excuse for
the harsh treatment that Desdemona receives, and she is portrayed as the one who is at fault.
Eventually Desdemona is subordinated by Othello, once again because she is portrayed as the weaker
and helpless individual by Shakespeare.

The Formation of In-groups
The author of this piece is Dr. Gordon Allport. He is the former head of Harvard s Department of
Psychology as well as the founding father of social psychology. Allport published many books
including The Nature of Prejudice (1954). The purpose of the article is to inform the audience that in
groups are everywhere and identity is based on our in groups. This essay is an excerpt from the book
The Nature of Prejudice in 1954 and is a credible source because the principles Allport discussed are
still studied by psychologists and researchers today. In the essay, Allport speaks of reference groups

This article One and Done is an excerpt from her book One and Only and the reviews of this book
come from extremely credible sources such as the New York Times, therefore establishing her
credibility. The author s purpose for writing this piece is to argue that having one child is not
detrimental to the child psychologically, and only children are not different than kids with siblings.
This piece was written July 7, 2010 so the research and studies are very up to date. The main points of
this article started out with the argument of why Sandler herself decided to have one child, and this is
based on how the economy is sluggish... and raising kids cost a bundle. She describes the effects of
the recession on the number of children women bear, and points out that women are having less and
less children because of their high costs. Sandler then goes on to discuss why people urge families to
have more than one child, and she uses personal experience of a cashier in a store to exemplify the
pressure of having more kids. Sandler investigates why there is such an aversion to have only one
child, single children are perceived as spoiled, selfish, solitary misfits, because this is such a
believable stereotype, parents are pressured to have multiple children because they don t want to do
that to their child. Sandler uses the study by Granville Stanley Hall to act as a counterargument

Speech On Traditional Family
We all come into this world alone and we leave this world alone. This is something we heat
throughout our lives but if we investigate this statement, we find a very different reality. Since we all
are birthed through the body of woman, who joined with the body of man no one enters in this world
alone. Later we call those man and woman as our mother and father thus adding us in the existing
family, which on a large scale forms the human society. After all society is built on limitless
interactions among human beings and human beings are capable to act with endless varieties. The
social life would be confusing in the absence of social patterns that provide guidelines in the form of
values and norms.
These traditional family values frequently ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

goals. The old family concept of collective happiness, sharing and supporting each other is slowly
being abolished from the society. A good example of this process is the fact that respect and obedience
has lost its ground which indeed was an important quality for children to learn at home, while on the
other side independence has gained

Dangers Of Social Cohesion
There are many different ideas about humanity and how it works and what things make it work the
best. There are some sociology theorist have a more positive view on humanity and believe that
humanity works best when people have relationships and more human interaction thus creating society
and its regulations as we know them. There are many benefits of social cohesion, but there are also
downfalls of this as well according to some theorist and these are referred to as social control. Social
cohesion is when those in a social system identify with it and feel bound to support it, especially its
norms, beliefs, and values. Social control is how a community or society regulates a person s behavior.
Ultimately, the benefits of social cohesion outweigh the dangers of social control. Without the benefits
of social cohesion, the dangers of social control would be intensified because of the lack thereof.
Durkheim, Erikson, Putnam and Collins are theorists who all take a stance on the benefits of social
cohesion. Some of their ideas are identical to one another or have some similar points and all connect
in some way. Durkheim says that social cohesion protects people from anomie and anomic suicide.
Anomie is defined as the lack of social integration and regulation or the lack of the usual social or
ethical standards in an individual or group. During a period if anomie, people feel disconnected from
their society because they no longer see the norms and values that they are

Class Struggle In Everything That Rises Must Converge By...
Class struggle is the tension between different classes resulted from different interest, social, and
economic position. There is always an intangible boundary between the ruling class and the working
class. All the members of two classes are well educated that they have to act as their role, and none of
them are allowed to violate the border between two classes. This idea is formed and maintained by the
ideological state apparatuses, particularly by family and school, in raising children and forming
society. How the members of different class treat each other has been discussed in many pieces of art,

However, he was raised in the society where everyone lived with the mindset of racism. He is not

O Connor states that He had never been successful at making any Negro friends. He had tried to strike

Consequences Of Drinking Alcoholic Beverages With Energy...
Literature Review The practice of adolescents and young adults consuming alcoholic beverages with
energy drinks or AmED has elevated concern on the topic of possible increases in detrimental
practices with regards to drinking, damaging psychological and physiological side effects from
consuming these mixed beverages and behavior that puts the individual and those around them at risk.
In order to better see the effects of consuming both alcohol and energy drinks together, authors Amy
Peacock, Raimondo Bruno and Frances H. Martin present a study that aims to establish the particular
physiological, psychological and behavioral risk taking consequences of drinking alcoholic beverages
with energy drinks in the article, The Subjective Physiological, Psychological, and Behavioral Risk
Taking Consequences of Alcohol and Energy Drink Co Ingestion. From the article, Peacock, Bruno

18 or older. The survey recruited participants in the greater Hobart area, near Tasmania, Australia by
the use of posters, media reports and the Internet. Participants completed an online survey on their
usage pattern of energy drinks and alcohol, both independent and combined usage. Of the 1,113
participants, those who answered less than 50% of the survey, were international residents, and those
who were outside the ages of 18 to 35, were excluded from the data. This provided Peacock, Bruno

Research Paper On The Eucharist
There are many different beliefs, problems, and changes that occurred overtime in regards to the
Eucharist.
People throughout the first century began worshipping God before the sun rose. The Christians would
often hold these gatherings in someone s house. However, the location was frequently changed due to
the occurrence of persecutions. During these services the people would read and interpret the
scripture. Later, the president of the brethren would be presented with the bread and the wine mixed
with water. He would take these gifts and offer glory and praise to god. These people believed that no
one was allowed to share the Eucharist unless he or she fully believed in the teachings of the scripture.

It isn t until the priests blesses these that they become the Body and Blood. Rightly then, do we
believe that the bread consecrated by the word of God has been made over into the Body of God of the
Word (St. Gregory). When this miracle occurs, the bread that was made over into that Body is made to
change into divine strength (St. Gregory). These two substances are worth so little before they have
been blessed, because they are simply common bread and wine. According to St. Gregory the bread
and wine receive a similar blessing as the men wanting to become priests do. The power of the Holy
Spirit comes down in both of these instances to give a blessing. The man turns into a priest, while the
bread and wine turn into the Body and Blood. (St.

Stigmatization Of Madness In Don Quixote
Our delight in or respect for his madness and its wonderful connections to the imagination does not
take away from our genuine pain at his humiliation. Though Don Quixote is humiliated on every page
of the book, it is only in this final humiliation when he becomes a rational observer of his past insane
life and views it with profound regret that we actually enter into real sympathetic pain with him. Until
this point, he is an object of our mirth. Once he becomes aware that his perception of reality was in
error and that his actions were, therefore, not a product of his autonomous self, we feel genuine
compassion for him. His realization that his hyper vigilance about his dignity as a knight errant was
delusional is a serious indignity for him. He has been in error about reality, and everyone has known it
except for him. People have gone along with him in a patronizing way.
In Cervantes s Don Quixote, we can see remarkably clear pictures of both the kind of unfair
stigmatization of madness that McKay and Mitchell decry and the essentially demeaning nature of
insanity to which Gardner and Macklem draw our attention. Don Quixote is treated with astounding
cruelty. He is made an object of ridicule and trickery by almost everyone he meets.
As Nietzsche says: Today we read Don Quixote with a bitter taste in our mouths, almost with a feeling
of torment, and would thus seem very strange and incomprehensible to its author and his
contemporaries: they read it with the clearest

Inequality In Modern Society
It has almost been a decade since the financially crisis of 2008 sent the United States and global
economy on the edge of collapse. Even though the global economy didn t collapse millions of people
still lost their job, saving accounts, and homes. People all over the country were financially ruined and
many will never be able to reacquire their lost money. After the dust had settled from the housing
crises in 2008 the United States was able to rebound and strengthened its economy.
There was one thing that stood out from this disaster, not one top bank executive was tried or
convicted. Not one bank representative went to prison. It seemed the very wealthy individuals and
banks were immune to the housing crash. The government had no problem bailing out the banking
institution which brought on this crises. It had been made clear there was a significant inequality
between the wealthy and everyone else. The inequality difference between the rich and everyone else
is effecting more than the numbers in a bank account but also wear down the foundation of modern
societies.
In the article How Inequality Erodes the foundation of Modern Societies author Robert Reich, who is
chancellor s professor of public policy at the University of Californian, Berkeley, identifies the utmost
single greatest threat to Western democracies is extreme inequality of it citizens. He states, This is
because inequality erodes two foundation stones of modern society openness to new ideas and

Housing Bubble
According to Wikipedia a housing bubble is a type of economic bubble that occurs periodically in
local or global real estate markets. It is characterized by rapid increases in valuations of real property
such as housing until they reach unsustainable levels and then decline. Four years into the housing
bubble downturn, much of the country remains hopelessly confused about what happened, why it
happened and who is to blame. In my research paper I will try and demonstrate what a housing bubble
is, some of the reasons for the bubble, was it preventable, how it kept growing, how it burst and how it
has affected our economy. By definition a housing bubble is a temporary condition caused by
unjustified speculation in the housing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other scholars have emphasized the sharp deterioration in lending standards as contributing to the rise
in housing prices as well as the importance of changes to the mortgage market institutional structure.
Other explanations of the bubble have been demand side explanations, meaning that the bubble was
caused by excessive consumer demand for housing. One leading explanation argues that the bubble
was the result of irrational demand encouraged by a belief that housing prices could only move
upwards. Other research points to the fundamentals of housing markets, particularly population
growth, placing upward pressures on housing prices in markets with inelastic housing supply, thereby
explaining some of the geographic variation in the housing bubble. None of these explanations,
however, is capable of fully explaining the housing bubble. From 1997 to 2006 nominal U.S. housing
prices rose 188%. By mid 2009, however, housing prices had fallen by 33% from peak. As the United
States attempts to rebuild its housing finance system, it is of paramount importance to understand what
caused the housing bubble. Until we understand how and why the housing bubble occurred, we cannot
be certain that a reconstructed housing finance system will not again produce such a devastating
bubble. As you can see there are numerous theories and explanations for the bubble. Without getting

Essay on Positive psych
Abstract
The emerging field of positive psychology has gained a lot of interest in the recent years. Positive
psychology has been proven to promote happiness in many individual s lives as well as reinforce their
personal feelings of self worth. The use of positive psychology can be applied to multiple aspects of
an individual s life, making it a universal approach to happiness and less stress. One major group of
individuals that can effectively carry out the use of positive psychology is athletes. Instilling and
educating coaches and players about this approach could help players deal with the immense amount
of pressure the players go through. Professional athletes obviously take on more pressures than
younger players, but the use of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is much research that suggests that happiness is also a means toward higher levels of overall
success. Using positive psychology can promote happiness, which, in return, will lead to more overall
success in an individual s life (Ben Shahar 2007). By using the positive psychology approach an
individual can lower stress while improving personal biological and spiritual health. Another
advantage point to positive psychology is that it can be applied to many aspects of an individual s life.
Positive psychology can be applied to education, the workplace, and in relationships (Ben Shahar
2007). Athletes for example, are a group of individuals who could really benefit from positive
psychology. Athletes of all ages and skill type experience some sort of pressure while playing their
beloved sport. Younger athletes could feel pressure from coaches, teammates, and even parents. If you
re a parent or coach, you probably have an opinion about youth sports. You might think that sports
help children develop teamwork skills, self confidence, resiliency, moral character, and other personal
strengths. Or you may see a dark side to youth sports, believing that young athletes develop aggressive
traits like bullying and the need to dominate their opponents on and off the field. The proponents of
youth sports often make blanket statements about the benefits of sports, leading parents to believe that

The Great Joys Of Reading Roald Dahl s Charlie And The...
One of the great joys of reading Roald Dahl s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, is the catharsis
experienced by the readers when four nasty children are forced to undergo some gruesome
punishments. These punishments are carried out in very creative ways, from being turned into a big
blueberry to being zapped into a TV, so that they tend to come across as refreshing and entertaining to
the audience. However, it must not be overlooked that this small book does present some horrid
actions in a positive light, including the sadistic treatment of children, removal of a large population
from work, and imperial superiority over indigenous populations. Eleanor Cameron went so far as to
deem this novel as a tasteless story that represents the nasty character of the author (Cameron).
Though she is correct in terms of some of the atrocious aspects of the book, Charlie and the Chocolate
Factory is far from being a tasteless book. On the contrary, it is a book that must be kept on the
bookshelves, to inform us of some of the darkest aspects of humanity.
The repulsiveness of Augustus Gloop, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregard, and Mike Teavey are so
obviously revealed in the book that there is no room to doubt that they are indeed nasty. In fact, they
are never even remotely pleasant, resulting in impatient readers that cannot wait for these children to
be punished. Consequently, when karma finally catches up to these spoiled children and their parents
who have raised them that way it

Western Influence on Kuwait
Kuwait and Western influence Over the past decades, Kuwait, like most Islamic countries have
practiced strict measures in terms of their governance system with lots of times the religious aspect
influencing greatly the kind of government in place and the type of governance that is used within
Kuwait. This resulted in a closed, less democratic, religious, stereotypical and generally patriarchal
society. This has however undergone a lot of change particularly with the embracing of the Western
culture that is more open, diverse and liberal in nature. Positives of western culture interaction More
democratic space Western culture has had far reaching effects on many aspects of lives of the Kuwaiti
in the sense that people have become more open minded and the society has turned from suppressing
the women, both domestically and socially, to embracing them and liberating them to make choices
and participate in social events like men do. Ladies currently enjoy a lot of freedom with regard to
what they put on and how they express themselves. Kuwaitis have also adopted modern pop culture
something that was unheard of in the past. They have developed a sense of taste for whatever they
buy, whatever they listen to, what they eat, watch, what they do on their bodies, hair and teeth. It is
paradoxical that when Kuwait gained her independence from the United Kingdom in 1961, her
citizens proclaimed liberation, when in actual sense there was none of it. Women in particular had to

Essay Comparing My Last Duchess And My Ex-Husband
My Last Duchess, written by Robert Browning, is simply about a male who was not specially
treasured by his, now dead, spouse. The parody of Browning s poem, My Ex Husband, written by
Gabriel Spera, is in a woman s point of view pondering on a past relationship where she felt she was
not properly respected. In both poems, the speakers are reflecting on past relationship conflicts
pertaining to the importance they had in their spouse s lives. The speakers in My Last Duchess and
My Ex Husband each have different personalities and values, which prompts each individual to react
in different ways.
In Browning s poem, My Last Duchess, the speaker is concerned with the rank of importance he
acquires in his wife s life. The speaker s personality comes off as angry, self centered, and greatly
annoyed. One time the speaker portrays these an annoyed quality is when he stated as if she ranked
my gift of a nine hundred years old name with anybody s gift (Browning, 33 34). The speaker s spouse
was brought equal amounts of joy by marriage as she was by the little things in life. The speaker could

My Favorite Teacher
Green has never been my favorite color, especially if it is someone s last name. Why can it be blue or
red? Those are fun and brilliant colors, unlike green. I was in my sophomore year when I met Mrs.
Green, and my very first thought was very depressing. I said to myself, this is going to be a long,
boring year. Then I realize that I was so wrong to judge someone just by their last name. Mrs. Green,
my ten grade AP Spanish teacher, was one of the most encouraging teachers I had in my life. She was
a strict yet comprehensible teacher, she made a hard worker, and she made me a stronger student.
First, Mrs. Green was the strict teacher I ever encountered, but yet she was the most comprehensible

The Contrast of the Heian Era Courtier and the Kamakura Samurai April 29, 2011 The Contrast of the
Heian Era Courtier and the Kamakura Samurai The major periods that shaped Japan s history and
future were the Heian era of Aristocracy and the Kamakura period of Samurai. The Heian era and the
Kamakura period are interesting because of their differences in social structure, tradition, and culture.
In the Heian era, the aristocrat s social class was sought by many because of their social and cultural
status. When the warrior rise in the Kamakura age the social classes change dramatically between
aristocrat and warrior. The Heian era (794 1191) was an age of self development in Japan s culture and

In 1159, Kiyomori of the Taira clan was victorious over the Minamoto clan. Kiyomori murdered all
the adults of the Monamoto clan and forced the children into exile. The emperor rewarded Kiyomori
victory by giving him an advisor position in the government. This event was significant because
Kiyomori was the first warrior in Japan s government. Like the Fujiwara family, Kiyomori desired a
royal bloodline within the Taira clan. So the Taira clan consorted with the imperial family in efforts to
secure an imperial bloodline. Later, Kiyomori obtain a higher government position and more
importantly a grandson was born and is heir to the throne. Feeling cheated an imperial prince sought
the exiled Minamoto to overthrow the Taria clan. In 1180, Yoritomo of the Minamoto clan formed an
army and battled with Taira clan that is known as the Genpei War. Eventually, Kiyomori died and the
Taria clan shortly declined after him. During these battles warriors ran amok pillaging the Japan s
cuntryside. To end the chaos and violence the imperial turned to Yoritomo. Yoritomo in return raise an
army of samurais and took complete control of the government and transformed it into a military

Fate In Mordred
The idea that fate is inevitable manifests itself throughout the arthurian legend I am mordred. The
question of changing fate prevails as an underlying theme in the book. Characters lives and choices
revolve around the idea of their predetermined destiny. It proves difficult to decide whether fate is
escapable or not.
From the beginning of the book Mordred s fate plays a key factor in characters actions. The king s
advisor Merlin prophesied Mordred to kill his father, King Arthur, when he is the age of seventeen.
When the prologue starts King Arthur is sacrificing all the male babies in the kingdom who were born
on May Day including Mordred. This will supposedly change the fate they are both destined to

point on Mordred kept his human form, but no longer felt anything. He didn t struggle with trying not

the time Mordred was twenty seven he had the opportunity to try to take the crown which led to a

The Emotional Appeal Utilized in Lebron James PowerAde Commercial Introduction Advertisements
have become more common and can be found in almost all locations in the society; however they vary
depending on the content and the medium they use to convey the information. It can be noted that
television has become one of the most influential and powerful medium since it gives both visual and
hearing attributes. Television is preferred by many organizations among them being Power ads since it
gives a leading hand in competition since it basically influences the consumers not because of the
unique product qualities but the mode at which the advertisement is made. Advertisement being one of

Obviously, this was the main attention got from this commercial. As what can be observed, the
sportscaster who was previously preparing for his report was suddenly awe struck by James hoops and
immediately made sure that his cameraman was capturing the moment on video. In this commercial of
a sports drink, however, this appeal shows up in a way related to how a particular drink can actually
give someone incomparable energy, that he or she may be able to do things seemingly impossible for
other people to do such as shooting 90 foot hoops like what James did in this commercial. People are
always in need of attention. Without attention, people do not have ways on perceiving whether or not
they are loved, cared for or appreciated. And though not in this extent, people also need attention in
order to feel some sense of confidence. In a crowd, people who easily attract other people are usually
those who are confident about how they look and act in public. But on the contrary, the people who
easily consider themselves as wallflowers are usually left with very low self esteems since the lack of
attention easily entails lack of appeal and can also be lack of significance. In this particular ad, the
subject Lebron James was portrayed with so much significance and prominence. The attention of his

Benefits Of Speech-Language Pathology Services
An issue frequently debated by the legislature concerns funding of various social/public programs
which include speech language pathology services. As a child who suffered from an auditory
processing disorder, and a future licensed Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), I know all too well
how important SLP services are for children. Currently, funding for social/public programs to include
Speech Language Pathology services in the United States is not adequate for children with learning
disabilities and the legislature must act to remedy this. In 1975, Congress enacted the Individuals with
Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) to ensure that children with disabilities will receive a free
appropriate public education through their local school ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
IDEA defines a learning disability as a disorder in understanding or using language, spoken or written,
that may manifest itself in an imperfect ability to listen, think, speak, read, write, spell or do
mathematical calculations. Learning disabilities are a life long issue. Language problems that go
untreated in the early years of school can continue into high school and adulthood. As a child who
suffered with an Auditory Processing Disorder (APD), early intervention was very important for me to
progress in school. I continue to this day, to utilize and build on compensatory techniques taught by
my grade school Speech Pathologist. Henceforth, I have been able to succeed in school, social settings
and now in college. According to the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) 2016 School
Survey, Speech Pathologists rated the amount of paperwork, high workload/caseload size, and limited
time for collaboration and budget constraints among their greatest challenges. Immense pressure is
placed on the SLPs in a school setting. Children with learning disabilities have a multitude of different
needs, and for many, thirty minute therapy sessions are not enough time to adequately address their
problems. Furthermore, in many schools, Speech Language Pathologists have had to make up some or
all of missed student sessions themselves without any substitute coverage. This in turn has increased
group therapy sizes which compromises the quality

Instead, accounting standards require that Bally recognize initiation fee revenue over the entire
membership life. This means that for members who maintained their memberships beyond the
financing period, or initial period of membership, Bally was required to defer initiation fee revenue
and recognize it over the estimated membership life, not over the term of the initial period of
membership. However, Bally prematurely recognized its members initiation fee revenue over a period
that was not only shorter than the estimated membership life, but in most instances even shorter than
the initial period of membership.
Personal Training Services: In addition to selling health club memberships, Bally also sold personal
training services (i.e., exercise sessions with personal trainers). Some customers prepaid for sessions
with personal trainers. Accounting standards require that revenue from prepaid personal training
services be recognized only when earned, which is when the personal training services were actually
provided. Bally, however, recognized revenue related to personal training services before those

The Theory Of Social Psychology
Groups have the capability to influence the perspectives of individuals in a social gathering (Myers,

psychology. This paper will give you an understanding on how individuals are influence by group
dynamics and social involvements. Finally, this paper will provide information that was collect from a
social group session interaction with collective studies to determine a conclusion. The interaction
during a group discussion can sometimes have a negative or positive aspect depending on the goal that
is trying to be achieve and the behavior of the individuals (Myers, 2010). During my observation on
the group session with the Girl s Scout Association, there was a strong social involvement with all of
the members. The group session had approximately twenty members. All of the members in the group

group purpose, mission and goals was help the young girls build courage, confidence, and character

Temperate Deciduous Forests Research Paper
Temperate Deciduous Forests are located in the north eastern[21] half of America, [22] middle of
Europe, many places in Asia, and southwest Russia. They have a decent [23] amount or precipitation
at about 30 to 60 inches of rainfall a year. [24] Making it the second rainiest biome in the world. They
[25] also have a mild climate with ranges of 40 to 70 degrees. Ohio is part if the north eastern [26]
half of America so this is the biome we live in as well. It is also home to many different plant and
animal species because it is all over the world.
The Snowy Owl is one of many bird spices [27] in the temperate deciduous forest. It s about 6lbs, 26in
long, and has a wing span of 4.7 to 5.4in long[28] . They feed on mostly smaller animals and birds.
They also get their name from the color of their feathers. Their feathers are also one of their
adaptations. With the white and somewhat grey color of their feathers [29] blending in with the snow
of America s winters and the snowy areas of Russia is very easy for them. Another adaptation is that
unlike some birds these owls will occasionally nest in the ground. They will dig in the side of a hill or
ridge and use frozen moss and the snow to keep it hidden from any predators.[210] ... Show more

They do hunt and play during the day but do most of it when it has become dark, with this they have

Hydrogen Fusion Research Paper

12. Why do thermonuclear reactions in the Sun take place only in its core? Thermonuclear reactions
take place when the nuclei of atoms are fused together due to extreme temperatures (G 13). The
temperature of the Suns core is 15.5 X 10^6 and at temperatures above 10 X 10^6 hydrogen fuses into
the element helium (hydrogen fusion). Therefore the core is the only place on the Sun where
Thermonuclear reactions are able to take place. Additionally the fusion that occurs in the Suns core is
enough to account for all of the energy that is emitted to the Sun (326).
13. What is hydrogen fusion? This process is sometimes called hydrogen burning . How is hydrogen
burning fundamentally unlike the burning of a log in the fire place? Hydrogen Fusion is a
thermonuclear process which produces the Suns energy. During the process four hydrogen nuclei
release energy when they fuse together in order to create a single helium nucleus (334). Hydrogen

What prevents a neutron star from collapsing? They have no electric charge and very little mass and
for a star to be able to collapse it must have a high mass (414). Therefore neutron stars cannot

7. What is a planetary nebula, and how does it form? A planetary nebula is a luminous shell of gas that
comes out of an old star with a low mass (G 9). When enough of the gas leaves a star for the core to
become visible, the expanding dust and gases form a planetary nebula (408). 12. What is the mass
range of neutron stars? The range of neutron stars is millisecond pulsars. Millisecond pulsars is the
name of companions pulsars which connect the mass of a star but not necessarily a neutron star. The
extra weight after the connection allows the star to gain a faster speed while falling (434 9th edition).

The Use of Art by Those in Power
Art has more meaning behind it than just being a picture; it can function in society by symbolizing
power. In this essay I am going to discuss in what ways art communicates power and help to manage
nations and empires.
The use of art as a tool for those in power started in different times and also in different cultures. An
ancient gravesite near Stonehenge revealed the grave of the Amesbury Arche in 2002 his grave was
different to those previously found near the site, What made him interesting was the gold hair tresses,
which are the oldest cast of gold in Britain, and the fact that he was a from the region that is now
Germany. The treasures in his grave show a man of status. Art for personal appearance, like these hair
clasps, mad him have a higher status then his peers. This gold, created the image of a leader. So it was
learned early on in human history that art as personal appearance enhanced your status.
As time progressed, in other parts of the ancient world art became a political tool; kings competed for
more dazzling adornments for their appearances. As kingdoms began to become bigger the kings
started to face communication issues and Darius the Great of Persia was one of them, he ruled over 20
nations from Persepolis. As many people from his nation could not read, Darius then had stone reliefs
created that combined styles from all over the empire, these carvings showed each nation bring
tributes to their king. These cravings showed a sign of respect and these

The headline claims the Prince to be foolish in the form of a pun foolip .
In an article the lead paragraph is designed to have a large impact on the reader which sums up the
story in a short space. This is useful for people who haven t got time to read the full article. It is also
designed to interest the reader so they read on. In The Mirror the lead paragraph is simple and bold,
full of emotion and sensational language such as sparked outrage to over exaggerate the story. The
lead paragraph is designed to be short and straight to the point but it fails to mention any positive side
to the Princes comment, which is revealed later on in the article. This again shows signs of The Mirror
being bias. The Times is more informative and is not bias in any way. It explains how he said that
members of shooting clubs were no more dangerous than members of golf or squash clubs . The
paragraph also contains more honest language and less sensational language and it over exaggerates
less.
The final effective presentational features in the newspapers are the pictures. In The Mirror the picture
makes the Prince look stupid and foolish, in this way it ties in with the headline. The picture has been
taken at a particular moment and catches the Prince with a stupid look on his face. Inside the

Shakespeare s Midsummer Night s Dream is An Elizabethan...
An Elizabethan Era Play with a Greek Twist William Shakespeare wrote the play, A Midsummer Night
s Dream, sometime in the 1590 s. The play, a romantic comedy, portrays the adventures of four young
lovers, an amateur actor s group, their interactions with a Duke and Duchess, and with fairies in a
moonlit forest. Although Shakespeare used certain themes in this play to portray Greek aspects, the
reflection of Elizabethan England is dominant in several different ways. Shakespeare s use of fairies,
the way women are treated, and the use of a class system in this play are all perfect examples of how
very Elizabethan this beloved tale actually is. The Elizabethan era was approximately 1558 1603.
During this period ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shakespeare infuses his own ideals into his fairy characters in order to make them a bit more
Shakespearean. He keeps the Elizabethan ideals of beauty and nature, and makes his fairies small and
with wings. Shakespeare?s use of fairies in his play proved to be a popular move amongst not only
those in Elizabethan England, but readers since. In Shakespeare?s play, numerous examples were
given as to how the women are treated like second class citizens. Those examples are concurrent with
the Elizabethan time period pertaining to the rules of dating and marriage, respect for elders, and
obedience to figures of authority. Children were the property of their parents, and gave them the
respect that a servant might give to his master. This was a time when male domination was the norm.
In this patriarchal society, women had very little, if any, choice in whom their husbands were to be. In
order for families to benefit, marriages were arranged. Shakespeare demonstrates this in the
relationships between the dominant Theseus, Egeus, and Oberon and the characters they attempt to
control. Egeus demands that his daughter, Hermia, must either marry Demetrius or answer to Athenian
law. Theseus orders that if Hermia does not marry his son, she will face death or be sent to a nunnery.

disregard her wants and attempt to control her without

La Reina Del Sur Analysis
In order to fully comprehend the roles of women portrayed within this society, a brief examination of
traditional roles associated with males involved in the narcocultura of Latin America and the
telenovela must transpire. This is because the latter often dictates tremendous proportions of the lives
of the adjoining women. An image of a warrior or Robin Hood like figure is often used to represent
the males in these societies, with a longing to triumph, succeed, and to exude his male energy in many
different ways. Although these attributes appear to be positives they inevitably come at the sacrifice of
their female counterparts. This representation is no different to that seen in La Reina del Sur . Men

The traditional effeminate characteristics portrayed within the psyche of many female characters
introduced in La Reina del Sur not excluding Teresa first presented in Sinaloa, revolve around their
physique and nature, with the outcomes of the female characters often being defined relative to the
impact of the male hero . This issue more often than not leads to female characters being silent,
mistreated, oppressed and/or rescued, perfectly captured through a genuine statement made by the
protagonist s first love El Güero Dávila as he unknowingly encapsulates the insignificance of women
caught in the narco world Porque, si a mí me va muy bien, tí tambíen pero, si me va mal, es requete
gacho . Even though El Güero spoke about Teresa from nowhere but a place of love, much of what he
had to say completely disregarded her life and opinion. While the telenovela travels through Mexican,
Spanish, Moroccan, Russian and Colombian cultures the prejudices faced by women are unchanging.
The lives of women within the narco world can in no way dictate the lives of the men. Considering
this, the emergence of Teresa as the telenovela develops and her complete ignorance of the traditional
culture sets up the story to not only be considered an entertaining thriller but a means of tackling
cultural flaws that have been seen for

How Does The Concentration Of Hydrochloric Acid Affect The...
Aim:
To investigate how concentration affects the volume of gas that is produced after one minute.
Background Information:
In this experiment hydrochloric acid is reacting with magnesium to form magnesium chloride and
hydrogen, and the chemical equation goes as follows:
Mg(s) + 2HCl(aq) == MgCl2 (aq) + H2 (g)
Particles must collide with each other at a certain activation energy in order for a chemical reaction to
take place. Reducing the concentration reduces the amount of particles, which in turn reduces the
probability of particles colliding with enough activation energy thus reducing the rate of reaction.

faster the rate of reaction would be, and the results I got show that more gas was produced at each

Overall, current management practices have been insufficient in protecting the wellbeing of the

Firstly, more bins could be placed around the beach to discourage people from littering and the fence

to follow. Some of these effects include, grief, loss and the sense of belonging. Belonging is personal
and everyone deserves to belong and due to Garibooli and her children being of aboriginal descendant
in a predominately white society, they have difficulty finding their sense of belonging.

Bob develops an individual desire for a greater understanding of his aboriginal roots which is
completely different to his sibling s life paths, despite being brought up in similar circumstances. Bob
develops an understanding of the home he and his family might have had when he learns that
Garibooli came from Dungalear Station. ... He unrolled a scroll to see a certificate from the Aborigines
Protection Board that showed an Elizabeth Boney had been removed from dungalear station... (279)
However, before Bob went searching for his identity and belonging he felt almost embarrassed and
insecure to be an Aboriginal. In the novel, Behrendt slightly criticises Bob s lost nature to resemble the
mistake he is making by trying to fit in with the new culture instead of accepting who he is. And
maybe it was Bob s own aversion to his black heritage, the wish that he was something other than
Aboriginal that could not release him from his nightmare. (296) The non indigenous culture that Bob
has grown up in has damaged his sense of identity and belonging due to the lack of Aboriginality,
which was originally taken away from

How the beatles changed the world
How the Beatles changed America. The time period I will be doing my report is the in the nineteen
sixties and through the nineteen seventies. My sources I will be using is the book called How the
Beatles Destroyed Rock n Roll, also I will be using a news paper article ( Beatles strike serious note in
press talk New york times John O, Tuesday, August 23,1966). Also I will be using (Sources of
American styles in the music of the Beatles, Charles Grower Price.) I will show how the world
changed with not only rock n roll but how the Beatles changed the world not just with music. With
politics, economics, and social they changed the world with the music and how they made ... Show

For small business like record stores they would have to buy hundreds of the Beatles records and sell
them to fans. They had to make such a big profit so the Beatles just didn t make money for them self.
Everything their faces was something they could sell and sell for a profit. This really made record
business a lot more popular because they had the Beatles music. The Beatles really helped small
business stay alive because their brand was so popular, no one can really say how big music could
have been with out the Beatles. But we do know that the Beatles really did change the economy for
the music industry, with there huge shows and with their faces it sold millions of dollars

Active Transport
Active transport is the movement of molecule throughout the cell from the region of a lower chamber
into a chamber of higher concentration. This type of transport uses energy to transport things to point
A to point B. Active transport usually happen around the cell membrane, also there are thousands of
proteins contained in the cell lipid layer. These proteins does most of the work in the transporting
system. They are placed across the membrane so one part is inside of the cell while another is on the
outside. Only when they cross the bilayer they will be able to move molecules in and out of the cell.
The membrane proteins are very specific. One protein that will move glucose will not move calcium
ions. There are many types of membrane ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For this process it is often only found when the particles or cells move down from their concentration
gradient from one area of higher concentration to an areas of lower standard. The most common type
of passive transport is known as Osmosis. This process is solely responsible for moving water
throughout a cell membrane. Other types of particles can also move throughout the cell as well. They
are frequently very small molecules such as oxygen and simple pass between the spaces in the lipid
bilayer of the cell s membrane. This is a very difficult or hard to understand process. However, it is a
very important process that all cells need to survive. One type of passive transport is diffusion. This
process is the process which it moves things from a higher concentration to a lower concentration. The
difference between the concentration between the two areas is often called concentration gradient.
Diffusion will continue until this gradient is terminated or no longer is there. Since diffusion moves
material from an area of higher concentration to an areas of low concentration it is, identified as
moving solutes down the concentration gradient . However, in many cases the moving forces of
passive transport can not be identified to the simplified

Essay Shield of Achilles and the Shield of Aeneas
A Comparative Study of the Shield of Achilles and the Shield of Aeneas
In Homer s great work, the Iliad, Achilles is given a set of armor, including a glorious shield which
allows him to return to battle and carry out his revenge against Hector. Likewise, in Virgil s Aeneid,
Aeneas is sent a shield for the purpose of aiding him in defending Rome from invasion. However,
these shields are made special not by their military value, but by the engravings that decorate their
surfaces.
Achilles shield holds engravings of common life during his time: farmers plowing the land, young
men and women dancing in the vineyards, scenes of the countryside, slaves working for their kings,
and armies fighting each other. On the other hand, Aeneas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And there were young men on it and young girls, sought for their beauty with gifts of oxen, dancing,
and holding hands at the wrist (Il., 18.590 594). In fact, the majority of the shield depicts common
Greek life; this being a quality that distinguishes Achilles shield from those of other famous warriors
and heroes. Epics and their heroes usually involve gods and god like feats, which are still true in the
Iliad, yet the engravings on this shield are an oxymoron of that style. Edwards best describes this in
stating, Like an enormous simile, the scenes on the shield hold the narrative still for a while as we
gaze at them; and the content is like that of a simile, too it is the ordinary life of mankind that we
observe, not that of heroes or gods (278).
The shield is unique for the engravings it bears on its surface, however, its greater significance lies in
what it represents, especially to Achilles being. At her son s birth, Thetis knew that Zeus had fated
Achilles to die if he spilled Hector s blood. Despite warning him of this, Thetis could not sway her son
s decision to avenge Patrocles and kill Hector. Therefore, it is known from this point on that Achilles
would soon die. Once he puts on the new armor, Achilles accepts his impending doom, and even
accepts it earlier as he speaks to his mother, saying,

A Mission Statement For A Strategic Planning
In formulating a process for undertaking a strategic plan for, say the veterinary services organization
mentioned in my course paper and presentation, a first step would be formulating at least a mission
statement for the organization. Since the veterinary clinic in question had not formalized a mission
statement its mission was perhaps nebulous or up for debate. Berman suggests that the original
mission statement might be revisited during the design phase (please see the following below),
however, if none is in place prior to the start of strategic planning then perhaps an attempt to develop
one at the start of the strategic planning process is advisable, even if it were to be revisited and
modified during the process. As the Chinese proverb states, 如果你不知道你要去哪裡,任何道路會
帶你去那裡。 * The mission statement allows the organization to develop specific goals and
programs and serve a purpose in the strategic planning process.
Berman states in Chapter 4, the purpose of strategic planning is change, and is therefore a process.
This process, he continues, is typically made up of four phases. These four phases are preplanning,
research, design and implementation. This process helps the organization to align priorities to
changing conditions and opportunities. In the case of the veterinary services organization, it was
poised for change and that change would be best pursued using a strategic planning process. The clinic
was ready for new goals and strategies, and needed to create a shared

Nonparental Child Development
To better understand what early extensive childcare and the affects it has, you really have to stop and
think about common knowledge facts for a bit. There are over 8.2 billion children who receive
childcare and more than half of that number has some sort of behavioral issue. It is becoming more
common for children under the age of one to start going to child care.
While childcare may have some positive benefits to a child s social and behavioral skills, the negatives
outweigh that. Generally the nonparental care of a child being at a childcare place, can take an even
bigger toll on the development of a child s behavioral and social skills.
As I read in Time spent in Child Care: How and Why Does It Affect Social Development? Department

This has all started negatively affecting a child s life along with the childcare involved. More than 8.2
million women in the U.S. alone are single working mothers of children under the age of six. Thus
making childcare non avoidable, and very low income based as to what she can afford.
The writers of Changes in Young Children s Family Structures and Child Care Arrangements, ( 2013)
states that The romantic and marital lives of the U.S. adults have become increasingly fluid, with
partnership histories often include more than one residential union.
Divorce rate is very high, leaving woman with children and needing to work, thus needing childcare.
If families were as it used to be, and the divorce rate could drop and/ or the parents could work
together to ensure that the children can have parental time on a normal basis, could possibly cut down
on some of the behavioral issues caused by childcare and being separated from the parents for
prolonged amount of hours each

Comparison Of To Kill A Mockingbird And The Purloined Letter
Harper Lee and Edgar Allen Poe have two very different styles, thoughts, and ideas. In Harper Lee s
novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, the narrator, Scout, experiences life as a young girl in a prejudice town.
As her father takes on a black man s case, the family receives negative attention from the people
around them. In Poe s story, The Purloined Letter , a man steals an important letter from a lady. The
story revolves around Dupin finding the letter and returning it. The interactions between characters in
both, To Kill a Mockingbird, and, The Purloined Letter , demonstrate a common theme of women and
feminism. In To Kill a Mockingbird, the interaction of characters allows the reader to see how women
are portrayed in society. One major interaction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although she knows who did it, she does not act on it. Therefore, she is seen as helpless and useless.
The thief knows she is unable to respond to the matter due to the others around her, Its rightful owner
saw, but, of course, dared not call attention to the act, in the presence of the third personage who stood
at her elbow (Poe 600). By acting on her weakness, the thief escaped knowing her secrets. They
preyed on her disadvantage in the situation. After being blackmailed for countless months, ...the power
thus attained has, for some months past, been wielded, for political purposes, to a very dangerous
extent, (Poe 600) she was left no choice but to rely on others. She could not figure a way to fix the
problem at hand. Eventually, she had to rely on a man to help her, In fine, driven to despair, she has
committed the matter to me (Poe 600). She had no other option but to go to someone else. She had no
more ideas, and she was left not knowing what to do next. She had to rely on someone else, someone
smarter and wiser than her. She was not capable of rescuing her letter or herself. She could not save
herself from the possibility of her secret getting out. In this sense, character interactions caused the
Royal Lady to be portrayed as helpless and useless. Although both writings had a negative depiction
of women, To Kill a Mockingbird also represents another version of women and feminism. Scout s
original thoughts on women were derived from the thoughts of her brother and other people of the
town. It was not until she started to see the women around her that she realized the true meaning of

History of Trigonometry: An Introduction Trigonometry is useful in our world. By exploring where
these concepts come from provides an understanding in putting this mathematics to use. The term
Trigonometry comes from the Greek word trigon, meaning triangle and the Greek word meatria
meaning measurement. However it is not native to Greek in origin. The mathematics comes from
multiple people over a span of thousands of years and has touched over every major civilization. It is a
combination of geometry, and astronomy and has many practical applications over ... Show more

Though there is no trigonometry in the works of Euclid and Archimedes, there are theorems presented
in a geometric method that are similar to particular trigonometric laws or rules. Theorems on the
lengths of chords are applications of the law of sines. In addition Archimedes theorem on broken
chords is similar to rules for sines of sums and differences of angles. From the primitive landmarks of
shadow tables and the Greeks gain and expansion of astronomical knowledge from the Babylonians,
there was a gap in the improvement of trigonometry until the time of Hipparchus.
Hipparchus
The first trigonometric table was in fact compiled by Hipparchus of, who is known as an as the father
of trigonometry (Boyer, 1991). Hipparchus was the first to put into a table the corresponding values of
arc and chord for a series of angles. He did this by considering every triangle was inscribed in a circle
of fixed radius. Each side of the triangle became a chord, a straight line drawn between two points on
a circle. To find the parts of the triangle he needed to find the length of the chord as a function of the
central angle. [pic] For Example, in the diagram triangle ACB is inscribed in circle O. So the sides of
the triangle become chord AC, chord CB and chord AB. Hipparchus would have sought to find the
length of the chord, AC, as a function of the central angle. He deduced a trigonometric formula for
the length of a chord sketched from one

Lena Dunham Analysis
Lena Dunham, a privileged New York native and self proclaimed feminist, created a video sponsored
by Vanity Fair, a popular women s popular culture magazine, entitled 8 Thoughts on Feminism. Here
she discusses her personal views on feminism and its future in 2025, that has also has reached over
25,000 views on Youtube. Dunham, although known mostly for her performances in Girls, is also
infamous for her outrageous viral pictures that often include her posing in seemingly unflattering ways
that challenge fat shaming and hegemonic beauty standards. While she often posits herself through
queer, physical expressions and fashion choices that blatantly critique hegemonic femininity, Dunham
continues to benefit from heteropatriarchal society as a upper class, heterosexual, cisgender, able
bodied white woman. She has most recently become a social icon for basic ... Show more content on

Such as in Dunham s fictional television series, her real life ideals, as expressed in her publicized
comments and actions, are directly reflective of postfeminism, white feminism, and ultimately, anti
feminism. Dunham s video begins with an introduction photo of socialite, Kim Kardashian who is
followed by a swarm of catering men in suit who shield her from the rain with an umbrella. These
weather condition seem to leave Kardashian unbothered, based on her unconventional attire, choosing
to wear a curve hugging dress, rather than rain boots and a jacket. Dunham perhaps selected this photo
as the introduction to her interview because Kardashian s demeanor exudes independence, inner
strength, and confidence, all ideal, feminist qualities, despite her unusual surroundings. Nevertheless,
this act is replicative of a postfeminist fallacy, defined as a neoliberal perspective that assumes
feminism has essentially achieved its goals, and so is no longer needed (Weitz, 2016,

  • 2. Globalization And The Rise Of Globalization There is controversy over when globalization began because there is no crystal clear start to globalization. Some people believe that globalization started when the Buddhist leader Chandragupta combined aspects of trade, religion, and military to create a protected trading area. Others believe that globalization began under Genghis Khan s rule. The Mongolian warrior ruler created an empire that had trade integrated into it. There are also some experts that believe that the rise of globalization was linked to 1492, the year Christopher Columbus made his first trip to the New World. 2. Phases/Rounds: Explanation: First Round In this phase, ideas, knowledge, and goods are exchanged through trading and encounters. The Arabs were one of the first people that transferred and exchanged their knowledge of the world (medicine, mathematics, and sciences) with the Europeans. Second Round ( Historical Globalization ) The second round began in the 1400s, when technology enabled more opportunities. The growth of globalization was also immensely linked to imperialism since the capture of one country led to exploration of the ideas and cultures, and trading within said country. Third Round ( Contemporary Globalization ) The modern world is in the third phase, which occurred post World War II. Globalization shifted from the second phase into third because of instant communications and rapid growth of the world market. The key element that caused modern globalization according to O Rouke ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Plea Bargaining Case There are many Organizational decisions that went into the plea bargain found in the case study. Plea Bargaining are an important tool used in the modern criminal court system. Plea bargaining can conclude a criminal case without a trail. When it is successful, plea bargaining results in a plea agreement between the prosecutor and defendant. In this agreement, the defendant agrees to plead guilty without trail, and in return, the prosecutor agrees to dismiss certain charges or make favorable sentence recommendations to the court.(Legal Dictionary ) The first organizational decision that was made us when the prosecutor talked about two mortgage fraud case. (Legal Dictionary) In the criminal court system court time in very valuable and should only be used when necessary. Plea bargaining helps create efficiency in the court system because rather than using resources to take the defendant to court they can settle a deal out of court. Resulting in a benefit for both parties. The defendant will benefit from the plea because they could avoid jail time or even a shorter sentence. The prosecution will benefit because they are evaluated in large part according to their conviction rates and all plea bargains result in a conviction because the defendant must plead guilty as part of the plea agreement. (Legal Dictionary) In another case the prosecution talked how the defendant had been acquitted by a jury after the county spent a million dollars on the case. The prosecution states that they tried to bargain with the defendant, but frankly they had a weak case and how they tried to cut the defendant a deal but they ended up taking the defendant to court and wasting the courts resources. When reviewing this case one can see the importance of plea bargaining. If the defendant had taken the plea bargain the court would have saved its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Shakespeare s Treatment Of Women In Othello Objectified and Mistreated Analysis of Shakespeare s Treatment of Women in the plays Hamlet, Othello, Macbeth, Lear, Much Ado about Nothing, and Tempest Women have always played a large role in society. It is arguable that without women, the world could not possibly exist. Well, humans would not exist. This ultimately suggests that women are needed very much. Without women, men are nothing. Men cannot exist without women. Why then, are women oftentimes treated so badly throughout history? Taking a look at how women have been treated, it can be observed that they have been severely mistreated. Even in other cultures, they are extremely mistreated. It s assumed that women are ultimately the weaker sex and are dependent on men. This is in fact, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The men in this play completely misunderstand women. There are multiple stereotypes and women are expected to adhere to the patriarchal rules that are forced upon them. When the women do not adhere to these rules, they are ultimately punished by Shakespeare by being killed. All the women in this play are portrayed as weak and unable to protect themselves against the men. The nature of women is portrayed once again as the weaker sex. Women were ultimately unable to protect themselves from the men, and this caused the men to be extremely dominant, aggressive, and assert their authority. Desdemona was a very feminine woman. She was extremely obedient and this caused the men to be even more dominant. She was also a very passive woman which ended up being a curse to her in the end. Othello gets very jealous and hits Desdemona. Since she is the weaker sex according to Shakespeare, she cannot defend herself against Othello because she is not equipped or prepared to do so. Desdemona is depicted in a stereotypical way, and Othello sees her in that way as well. Everything she does strengthens his belief in the stereotype. This stereotype is used as an excuse for the harsh treatment that Desdemona receives, and she is portrayed as the one who is at fault. Eventually Desdemona is subordinated by Othello, once again because she is portrayed as the weaker and helpless individual by Shakespeare. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The author s purpose for writing this piece is to argue that having one child is not detrimental to the child psychologically, and only children are not different than kids with siblings. This piece was written July 7, 2010 so the research and studies are very up to date. The main points of this article started out with the argument of why Sandler herself decided to have one child, and this is based on how the economy is sluggish... and raising kids cost a bundle. She describes the effects of the recession on the number of children women bear, and points out that women are having less and less children because of their high costs. Sandler then goes on to discuss why people urge families to have more than one child, and she uses personal experience of a cashier in a store to exemplify the pressure of having more kids. Sandler investigates why there is such an aversion to have only one child, single children are perceived as spoiled, selfish, solitary misfits, because this is such a believable stereotype, parents are pressured to have multiple children because they don t want to do that to their child. This is something we heat throughout our lives but if we investigate this statement, we find a very different reality. Since we all are birthed through the body of woman, who joined with the body of man no one enters in this world alone. Later we call those man and woman as our mother and father thus adding us in the existing family, which on a large scale forms the human society. • 8. Dangers Of Social Cohesion There are many different ideas about humanity and how it works and what things make it work the best. There are some sociology theorist have a more positive view on humanity and believe that humanity works best when people have relationships and more human interaction thus creating society and its regulations as we know them. There are many benefits of social cohesion, but there are also downfalls of this as well according to some theorist and these are referred to as social control. Social cohesion is when those in a social system identify with it and feel bound to support it, especially its norms, beliefs, and values. Social control is how a community or society regulates a person s behavior. Ultimately, the benefits of social cohesion outweigh the dangers of social control. Without the benefits of social cohesion, the dangers of social control would be intensified because of the lack thereof. Durkheim, Erikson, Putnam and Collins are theorists who all take a stance on the benefits of social cohesion. Some of their ideas are identical to one another or have some similar points and all connect in some way. Durkheim says that social cohesion protects people from anomie and anomic suicide. Anomie is defined as the lack of social integration and regulation or the lack of the usual social or ethical standards in an individual or group. People throughout the first century began worshipping God before the sun rose. The Christians would often hold these gatherings in someone s house. However, the location was frequently changed due to the occurrence of persecutions. During these services the people would read and interpret the scripture. Later, the president of the brethren would be presented with the bread and the wine mixed with water. He would take these gifts and offer glory and praise to god. These two substances are worth so little before they have been blessed, because they are simply common bread and wine. • 13. Stigmatization Of Madness In Don Quixote Our delight in or respect for his madness and its wonderful connections to the imagination does not take away from our genuine pain at his humiliation. Though Don Quixote is humiliated on every page of the book, it is only in this final humiliation when he becomes a rational observer of his past insane life and views it with profound regret that we actually enter into real sympathetic pain with him. Until this point, he is an object of our mirth. Once he becomes aware that his perception of reality was in error and that his actions were, therefore, not a product of his autonomous self, we feel genuine compassion for him. His realization that his hyper vigilance about his dignity as a knight errant was delusional is a serious indignity for him. He has been in error about reality, and everyone has known it except for him. People have gone along with him in a patronizing way. In Cervantes s Don Quixote, we can see remarkably clear pictures of both the kind of unfair stigmatization of madness that McKay and Mitchell decry and the essentially demeaning nature of insanity to which Gardner and Macklem draw our attention. Don Quixote is treated with astounding cruelty. He is made an object of ridicule and trickery by almost everyone he meets. As Nietzsche says: Today we read Don Quixote with a bitter taste in our mouths, almost with a feeling of torment, and would thus seem very strange and incomprehensible to its author and his contemporaries: they read it with the clearest ... • 14. Inequality In Modern Society It has almost been a decade since the financially crisis of 2008 sent the United States and global economy on the edge of collapse. Even though the global economy didn t collapse millions of people still lost their job, saving accounts, and homes. People all over the country were financially ruined and many will never be able to reacquire their lost money. After the dust had settled from the housing crises in 2008 the United States was able to rebound and strengthened its economy. There was one thing that stood out from this disaster, not one top bank executive was tried or convicted. Not one bank representative went to prison. It seemed the very wealthy individuals and banks were immune to the housing crash. The government had no problem bailing out the banking institution which brought on this crises. It had been made clear there was a significant inequality between the wealthy and everyone else. The inequality difference between the rich and everyone else is effecting more than the numbers in a bank account but also wear down the foundation of modern societies. In the article How Inequality Erodes the foundation of Modern Societies author Robert Reich, who is chancellor s professor of public policy at the University of Californian, Berkeley, identifies the utmost single greatest threat to Western democracies is extreme inequality of it citizens. • 15. Housing Bubble According to Wikipedia a housing bubble is a type of economic bubble that occurs periodically in local or global real estate markets. It is characterized by rapid increases in valuations of real property such as housing until they reach unsustainable levels and then decline. Four years into the housing bubble downturn, much of the country remains hopelessly confused about what happened, why it happened and who is to blame. In my research paper I will try and demonstrate what a housing bubble is, some of the reasons for the bubble, was it preventable, how it kept growing, how it burst and how it has affected our economy. By definition a housing bubble is a temporary condition caused by unjustified speculation in the housing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Other scholars have emphasized the sharp deterioration in lending standards as contributing to the rise in housing prices as well as the importance of changes to the mortgage market institutional structure. Other explanations of the bubble have been demand side explanations, meaning that the bubble was caused by excessive consumer demand for housing. One leading explanation argues that the bubble was the result of irrational demand encouraged by a belief that housing prices could only move upwards. Other research points to the fundamentals of housing markets, particularly population growth, placing upward pressures on housing prices in markets with inelastic housing supply, thereby explaining some of the geographic variation in the housing bubble. None of these explanations, however, is capable of fully explaining the housing bubble. From 1997 to 2006 nominal U.S. housing prices rose 188%. By mid 2009, however, housing prices had fallen by 33% from peak. As the United States attempts to rebuild its housing finance system, it is of paramount importance to understand what caused the housing bubble. • 16. Essay on Positive psych Abstract The emerging field of positive psychology has gained a lot of interest in the recent years. Positive psychology has been proven to promote happiness in many individual s lives as well as reinforce their personal feelings of self worth. The use of positive psychology can be applied to multiple aspects of an individual s life, making it a universal approach to happiness and less stress. One major group of individuals that can effectively carry out the use of positive psychology is athletes. Instilling and educating coaches and players about this approach could help players deal with the immense amount of pressure the players go through. There is much research that suggests that happiness is also a means toward higher levels of overall success. Using positive psychology can promote happiness, which, in return, will lead to more overall success in an individual s life (Ben Shahar 2007). By using the positive psychology approach an individual can lower stress while improving personal biological and spiritual health. Another advantage point to positive psychology is that it can be applied to many aspects of an individual s life. Positive psychology can be applied to education, the workplace, and in relationships (Ben Shahar 2007). Athletes for example, are a group of individuals who could really benefit from positive psychology. Athletes of all ages and skill type experience some sort of pressure while playing their beloved sport. Younger athletes could feel pressure from coaches, teammates, and even parents. If you re a parent or coach, you probably have an opinion about youth sports. You might think that sports help children develop teamwork skills, self confidence, resiliency, moral character, and other personal strengths. Or you may see a dark side to youth sports, believing that young athletes develop aggressive traits like bullying and the need to dominate their opponents on and off the field. The proponents of youth sports often make blanket statements about the benefits of sports, leading parents to believe that if ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. The Great Joys Of Reading Roald Dahl s Charlie And The... One of the great joys of reading Roald Dahl s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, is the catharsis experienced by the readers when four nasty children are forced to undergo some gruesome punishments. These punishments are carried out in very creative ways, from being turned into a big blueberry to being zapped into a TV, so that they tend to come across as refreshing and entertaining to the audience. However, it must not be overlooked that this small book does present some horrid actions in a positive light, including the sadistic treatment of children, removal of a large population from work, and imperial superiority over indigenous populations. Eleanor Cameron went so far as to deem this novel as a tasteless story that represents the nasty character of the author (Cameron). Though she is correct in terms of some of the atrocious aspects of the book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is far from being a tasteless book. On the contrary, it is a book that must be kept on the bookshelves, to inform us of some of the darkest aspects of humanity. The repulsiveness of Augustus Gloop, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregard, and Mike Teavey are so obviously revealed in the book that there is no room to doubt that they are indeed nasty. In fact, they are never even remotely pleasant, resulting in impatient readers that cannot wait for these children to be punished. In this essay I am going to discuss in what ways art communicates power and help to manage nations and empires. The use of art as a tool for those in power started in different times and also in different cultures. An ancient gravesite near Stonehenge revealed the grave of the Amesbury Arche in 2002 his grave was different to those previously found near the site, What made him interesting was the gold hair tresses, which are the oldest cast of gold in Britain, and the fact that he was a from the region that is now Germany. So it was learned early on in human history that art as personal appearance enhanced your status. As time progressed, in other parts of the ancient world art became a political tool; kings competed for more dazzling adornments for their appearances. As kingdoms began to become bigger the kings started to face communication issues and Darius the Great of Persia was one of them, he ruled over 20 nations from Persepolis. In Shakespeare?s play, numerous examples were given as to how the women are treated like second class citizens. In Qld, many say that it has become fundamentally important to us, both as a natural resource and as a means of revenue. Despite our inclination towards them, however, coastlines are delicate and dynamic environments susceptible to change, both of natural and of human cause as well. Now, more than ever, decisions regarding the coastline must be measured carefully to ensure their sustainability into the future. As a consequence, the location requires more attention. Firstly, more bins could be placed around the beach to discourage people from littering and the fence line should be repaired. The distressed Mangroves could also be assisted in their recovery and regrowth as they may be useful as a buffer zone in the future. Finally, there should be more dune plantation to secure the bank and prevent further erosion, and perhaps, even the implementation of a rock wall to prevent further coastal recession. 3.0 Yeppoon Main ... • 42. Active Transport Active transport is the movement of molecule throughout the cell from the region of a lower chamber into a chamber of higher concentration. This type of transport uses energy to transport things to point A to point B. Active transport usually happen around the cell membrane, also there are thousands of proteins contained in the cell lipid layer. These proteins does most of the work in the transporting system. They are placed across the membrane so one part is inside of the cell while another is on the outside. Only when they cross the bilayer they will be able to move molecules in and out of the cell. The membrane proteins are very specific. One protein that will move glucose will not move calcium ions. There are many types of membrane ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For this process it is often only found when the particles or cells move down from their concentration gradient from one area of higher concentration to an areas of lower standard. The most common type of passive transport is known as Osmosis. This process is solely responsible for moving water throughout a cell membrane. Other types of particles can also move throughout the cell as well. They are frequently very small molecules such as oxygen and simple pass between the spaces in the lipid bilayer of the cell s membrane. This is a very difficult or hard to understand process. However, it is a very important process that all cells need to survive. One type of passive transport is diffusion. This process is the process which it moves things from a higher concentration to a lower concentration. The difference between the concentration between the two areas is often called concentration gradient. Diffusion will continue until this gradient is terminated or no longer is there. Since diffusion moves material from an area of higher concentration to an areas of low concentration it is, identified as moving solutes down the concentration gradient . Essay Shield of Achilles and the Shield of Aeneas A Comparative Study of the Shield of Achilles and the Shield of Aeneas In Homer s great work, the Iliad, Achilles is given a set of armor, including a glorious shield which allows him to return to battle and carry out his revenge against Hector. Likewise, in Virgil s Aeneid, Aeneas is sent a shield for the purpose of aiding him in defending Rome from invasion. However, these shields are made special not by their military value, but by the engravings that decorate their surfaces. Achilles shield holds engravings of common life during his time: farmers plowing the land, young men and women dancing in the vineyards, scenes of the countryside, slaves working for their kings, and armies fighting each other. And there were young men on it and young girls, sought for their beauty with gifts of oxen, dancing, and holding hands at the wrist (Il., 18.590 594). In fact, the majority of the shield depicts common Greek life; this being a quality that distinguishes Achilles shield from those of other famous warriors and heroes. Epics and their heroes usually involve gods and god like feats, which are still true in the Iliad, yet the engravings on this shield are an oxymoron of that style. Edwards best describes this in stating, Like an enormous simile, the scenes on the shield hold the narrative still for a while as we gaze at them; and the content is like that of a simile, too it is the ordinary life of mankind that we observe, not that of heroes or gods (278). The shield is unique for the engravings it bears on its surface, however, its greater significance lies in what it represents, especially to Achilles being. Despite warning him of this, Thetis could not sway her son s decision to avenge Patrocles and kill Hector. Therefore, it is known from this point on that Achilles would soon die. • 44. A Mission Statement For A Strategic Planning In formulating a process for undertaking a strategic plan for, say the veterinary services organization mentioned in my course paper and presentation, a first step would be formulating at least a mission statement for the organization. Since the veterinary clinic in question had not formalized a mission statement its mission was perhaps nebulous or up for debate. Berman suggests that the original mission statement might be revisited during the design phase (please see the following below), however, if none is in place prior to the start of strategic planning then perhaps an attempt to develop one at the start of the strategic planning process is advisable, even if it were to be revisited and modified during the process. As the Chinese proverb states, 如果你不知道你要去哪裡,任何道路會 帶你去那裡。 * The mission statement allows the organization to develop specific goals and programs and serve a purpose in the strategic planning process. Berman states in Chapter 4, the purpose of strategic planning is change, and is therefore a process. This process, he continues, is typically made up of four phases. These four phases are preplanning, research, design and implementation. This process helps the organization to align priorities to changing conditions and opportunities. In the case of the veterinary services organization, it was poised for change and that change would be best pursued using a strategic planning process. Hipparchus was the first to put into a table the corresponding values of arc and chord for a series of angles. He did this by considering every triangle was inscribed in a circle of fixed radius. Each side of the triangle became a chord, a straight line drawn between two points on a circle. To find the parts of the triangle he needed to find the length of the chord as a function of the central angle. [pic] For Example, in the diagram triangle ACB is inscribed in circle O.
