Public Housing During The Nineteenth Century
Have you been in a stage in your life that leaves not only you but your children as well on the
street with nowhere to go? If you re family is not making enough money and you need assistance
from the government, Public Housing may be the thing you need. Public housing are homes that
are owned by the government and in some cases by private landlords who give low income citizens
a home. Public Housing was created in between the nineteenth and twentieth century in hopes to
decrease povertyrates from inclining. The Industrial Revolution caused poverty that led to sickness
and death to rise which convinced the government to create this subsidy. As in the old days, there is
criteria you must meet to qualify for Public Housing. In order to... Show more content on

The mission statement overall for Public Housing is The purpose of the organization is to
provide direct services to children and their families who have suffered a breakdown in the
structure of the family unit and home of the placement for children in need of alternative
(lowincomehousing.us). Unfortunately public housing is not open to all, only those who meet
their criteria. The age does not matter in this situation because things can happen at any age. For
example, if you get pregnant at an age of 16 and are left alone, you may need public housing to
be able to provide a home for your child. Even though the age does not explain the population, the
special problems and special diagnosis of clients do. The clients who are most likely to get
public housing are those who have a special diagnoses such as an illness or a disability who
makes the person unable to work. For example, a 19 year old who is a dependent can injure
themselves to the point where you can no longer work. Another special problems are being an
elder, being laid off while providing for your family, etc. This program offers these people a
second chance instead of going straight to poverty. The families who have a primary head of
household that gets laid off can lead to separation of children from parents. This program offers

The Education System Of The Republic
Education is a transfer of knowledge from one generation to another. Some societies have oral
traditions while others transfer the knowledge by written works. In Plato s Republic, for Socrates
the education system is structured in two major parts: the education of the mind and character and
the physical training. For Socrates, truth, justice, and goodness are the main principles for a utopic
society. Indeed, for him the truth is universal and therefore in order to have a perfect utopic society
it community should be dedicated and based on truth. In fact, in this imaginary society the
educational system is an oral transfer of knowledge, which is based on trues stories and fiction. The
Republic shows that in this imaginary society the educationis strictly control and does not portray
any of the three principles of a utopic society. The educational system of The republic demonstrates
that nothing is utopic in this imaginary society. The education of this society is controlled and
people could only have one set of mind. Everyone is different and therefore should have the right of
choosing when, how and what they want to study. The varieties of educational system normally
allow this, but in this society, it is not the case. In this society, the education is supervised and
controlled: Then it seems that our first business is to supervise the production of stories, and choose
only those we think suitable, and reject the rest (Plato377 b). The education goes from one

Radar And The Air And Terrestrial Traffic Controller
INTRODUCTION ON RADARS
Have you ever thought how is a missile launched without seeing the target?
How do the aero planes do blind landing when the weather is not favourable?
How do the air and terrestrial traffic controller know that an unidentified aircraft is trespassing their
region?
The answer to all these questions is radar. These are different applications of radar and the
following thesis will give you an insight in this as well as the efficient methods to makes use of
radar. This thesis also tells why we opt for different pulse compression techniques and optimising
techniques.
WHAT IS RADAR?
Radar is a target detection oriented system which makes use of radio waves to determine the
range, angle, or velocity of the desired target. The target can be any object or weather changes;
they are generally used to detect aeroplanes, submarines and ships, space shuttle, guided missiles,
motor vehicles, weather conditions and formations, and terrain. Radar transmits radio waves or
microwaves that reflect from any object in their path. Radar antenna has a inbuilt transmitter and
receiver usually referred to as trans receiver which is one of its biggest advantage. Apart from
receiving the antenna processes these reflected waves to determine properties of the
object(s).Radar evolved before and during the World War II by several nations secretly to make use
of this marvellous technique to detect the threat coming towards them and to locate the enemy s
position. The term RADAR was

Australian Landscape
Patrick White s novel, Voss (1957) tells the story of a nineteenth century German explorer s journey
into the Australian landscape. In this essay, I will examine the attitudes and assumptions towards
the Australian landscape over the past 200+ years, and evaluate what has changed in these contexts.
Attitudes can depend on many cultures, these cultures can differentiate depending on things such as
gender, attitude to the outdoors, individuality, conquest, religion, being urban or rural and drought.
These are only a few of the hundreds of different cultures that can affect attitudes and assumptions
towards Australian landscapes.
The extract depicts that the interaction with the landscape is very European based. When Laura

of great natural beauty and value, it was rare for parks to be established in the face of competing
commercial interests (p.14). This led to the Little Desert dispute in 1967 and changed the system of
public lands. It galvanised public opinion, and the environment threatened, became a major issue in
the 1970 elections. This can be seen as a culture of time and circumstances. 1970 can be seen as the
hippie , controversial age of people that wanted to protect the environment and this is a culture that
has changed the future.
The 1970 election then lead to an increase in size and number of national parks, the establishment
of an environmental protection agency, and from then on the future of Victoria s public lands was
to be decided rationally, scientifically and critically on the basis of scientific research and public
opinion. (Clode 2006) and this is evidence that Australian cultural assumptions and attitudes have

The Effect Barbary Pirates Had on the History of America
The effect Barbary Pirates had on the history of America
Algeria, Morocco, Libya, Tunisia; The current day names for the land of which the Barbary Pirates
had once inhabited. These Barbary States would extort the world of their men and their cargo
through plundering of naval ships. In the same time period there was a newly discovered land,
which was striving to mature into an independent country. This land was known as America, and
they were rigorously tearing apart from their homeland, England. Once the United States declared
independence, British diplomats were quick to inform the Barbary States that U.S. ships were
open to attack. In 1785 (PA). The United States did not enjoy paying off the pirates, so they took
it to their own hands to stop this problem once and for all. The defeat of the Barbary States, by
Americans helped the naval security, a huge amount in the future of the Land of the Free , and
allowed for lots of fighting experience.
From 1786 to 1815, the United States made tribute payments to the North African Barbary states
to protect its shipping from pirate raids (Kearney F, Barbary pirates ). This ended when Jefferson
was elected into presidency. He had been against the tribute of the Barbary States his whole life
in office, and so when he was elected, he stopped paying tribute and refused to pay a ransom for
many goods and men that the pirates had rummaged. This angered the pirates, and so war was
unofficially declared, and Jefferson had a blockade

Outline and Evaluate Postmodern Views on the Diversity of...
Outline and evaluate postmodern views on the diversity of family life
Postmodern sociologists support the view that family has become diverse in contemporary UK.
They see that people have become fragmented and identities are more individualistic, meaning
everyone is different and let them be. Family life is different for everyone. Stacey (1996) says that
the family no longer progresses through a range of stages. Meaning everyone is diverse, and that
there is no longer a dominant type of family. This is similar to the Rapoports view of stage in life
cycle diversity. Which says family life is different for newly married couples who do not have
children than for those who do have children.
The key to the postmodern view of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some new right thinks regard these single parents as the underclass seeing them as work shy and
benefit scroungers . Also as them having short term sexual relationships, and having children with
men who do not see their offspring as their responsibility. All negative views of this type of family
structure.
Functionalists say the nuclear family is best, as the woman needs to be there, to provide the family
with emotional gratification, and take care of the domestic labour, also the warm bath theory.
Whereby, she runs the man a warm bath when he comes home from a stressful day at work, in
order to make him relax with the family and wine down. And the man in the nuclear family,
provides the economic support.
Whilst new labour gives the impression they support differing family structures, it still gives
negative views on most families that are not the nuclear family. They see teenage pregnancy, as a
social problem, which is against diversity. As this is diverse in the way that, different people have
different stages in life cycle. Where teenage pregnancies, are having children earlier than others.
Duncan (2006) challenges the assumptions of New Labour that teenage pregnancy is a social
problem. He says new labour have not dealt with wider structural aspects of social disadvantage.
New labour is criticised for being contradictory. It acknowledges that

Racial Conflicts
What is race and ethnicity? Can racial conflicts be eliminated by education? Can there be a time
where one s colour or background did not matter? Every modern day society faces racial conflicts.
Humans are equal, whether they are white or black, etc. Hatred among different racial groups is
common in out modern day society. Ignorance of the equality of every humancauses racism.
Humans need laws to follow and the lack of these laws cause conflict between humans. Erin
Gruwell was optimistic about teaching a class of so many different backgrounds but it was much
more challenging to get through to such angry teenagers. Racial conflicts in America include gang
violence, and even murder. The Freedom Writers movie gives a clear description of the... Show

Rescuing a society from racial conflicts will cause a lot of people their jobs and even their lives
but at the end it will be worth it for later generations. The situation in the film where Eva Benitez
has to be a witness against an innocent teenager to save one of her own is an example of
rescuing a society. She knew that her boyfriend killed the Asian guy but was influenced by her
parents and friends to testify against a black guy who was also a suspect. With time, Eva realized
that a criminal must be found even if it was someone she loves and that made her tell the truth to
the judge about who killed the Asian guy.
Another example of the ignorance of the equality of humans is when Tito drew a picture of a
black man with big fat lips and passed it through the students until it got to Jamal Hill which was
affected by the photo. The cause of these immature actions is feeling the need to disrespect
others because one is not being respected themselves. Tito was proud and he reached his goal by
bringing down Jamal s self esteem. When the teacher saw that drawing of a black man with big
lips, she made a reference to The Second World War. She also made a reference to a gang during
The Second World War who started out poor, angry, and looked down upon. This gang was given
importance when Adolf Hitler came into power in Germany and that is when The Holocaust began.
The Nazi s had a certain outlook on the superior race and hated Jewish people. They

Hannah Arendt Minority Treaties
Hannah Arendt s begins the chapter with the first part of after the fall of the First World War
stating the condition of the stateless people clarified the catastrophe of the nation state model and
the failure of human rights. When the nation system was created, the people in power in Europe
separated the people into 3 major groups which are the state people, the nationalities like the
Slovaks in Czechoslovakia, and the minorities like the Germans, being the strongest officially
economically and in number. The Minority Treaties were created by the League of Nations to seek
security to the minority groups in the new states. The real significance of the Minority Treaties
(pg.274) was that currently millions of people were known by the international law since by the

Feudalism
Explain how the system known as feudalism worked in Medieval Europe.
The bases of feudalism is best described as a social system in Europe throughout the Middle Ages
where individuals worked and battled for upper class who gave them protection and the use of the
land in return for their services (Merriam Webster). Feudalism is not a medieval term and not even a
translation of a medieval concept (Abels 2010; Brown 2010; Bouchard 1998). In our day and time
Feudalism would be difficult and baffling in several ways, but some may feel that we would
benefit from it.
During this time the social class depended on how much land you owned. Royalty in your Kings

the while this was taking place the Frankish Empire was falling apart. They begin to fight among

some but feudalism turned dysfunction into order during a violent time.
What was its impact on the mission of the church?
The Church was the absolute most predominant foundation in medieval life, its impact invading
practically every part of individuals lives. Its religious observances often shape to the plan; its
customs checked every minute in a person s life; and its lessons supported standard convictions
about morals, the significance of life and existence. Church in Western Europe was recognized as
the Roman Catholic Church went from the religion of the Roman Empire to the official religion
and the most powerful institution of the Middle Ages. All of Europe had been converted to
Christianity by the year 1000. Although this process was peaceful at times but other times it got
downright ugly.
The inclusion of the church in the system became a political reality. The unsettled conditions
caused by the Viking and Magyar invasions forced church officials to enter into close relations
with the only power able to offer them protection. Bishops and abbots thus became vassals,
receiving fiefs for which they were obligated to provide the usual feudal services. The

Analysis Of Cosmopolitism In Things Fall Apart By Chinua...
It is unbelievable to think that an action of what a person does in the present, can either lead to
nothing or it can become a catastrophe event. In Things Fall Apart, Achebe writes about the
Nigerian culture through the events that happen to the main character which is Okonkowo. In
Cosmopolitism, Appiah writes about the different values, morals, and cultures people in the world
have and how people can live together despite having differences. The event that could have had a
different outcome was when the Abmae elders decided to execute the white missionary man and
later on the group of white people massacred the Abmae village. If the characters in the event were
more cosmopolitan with the concept of understanding each other and uncalled for punishment, then
the event could have been a different outcome. When one applies Appiah s idea of understanding
each other and uncalled for punishment in Cosmopolitism to the event in Things Fall Apart, the
event changes to when the elders would not have executed the white missionary man and
therefore there would be no massacre from the group of white people. When the white man riding
a bicycle came to the Abmae village, the villagers were horrified to see a foreigner. The white
man who came to Abmae did not cause any harm to the villagers and yet the elders of the Abmae
village decided to execute the white man. The villagers did not try to understand why the white man
was here for. In Cosmopolitism, Appiah states One truth we hold

Theories Of Synergy Theory
One of the theories used to explain why firms engage in M A is the synergy theory. Synergy
theory or hypothesis asserts that the sum value of both individual firms before an M A is lower
than that of the combined firm (Seth, 1990). This increase in value is due to the effect of the
synergy potentials which could only be realized by combining operational and financial resources
of both firms. These synergies present the extra value created by merger. Thus, creating value for
shareholders that at least equates or exceeds the cost of the acquisition should be the primary
objective of any M A. Essentially, synergies should be the sole principle in justifying companies to
engage in M A. In theory, financial synergy of a merger is realized when... Show more content on

No private assumption on the value of a company is given. Oftentimes, this is not the case. The
Harris poll published in 1984 suggest otherwise. According to the Harris poll, only 32 percent of the
surveyed executives thought that the stock market correctly value their companies price, while 60
percent disagreed and felt that their companies are undervalued (Harris poll, 20 February 1984).
This private assumption of fair price could easily find its way onto the M A negotiation table.
Therefore, another theory the valuation theory is also used to analyze how M A could create value
for the shareholders. The valuation theory states that the managers of the acquiring firm may
possess more knowledge of the target firm than what actually is being valued through the price of
stock in the market (Trautwein, 1990). The knowledge, termed asymmetric information by
Ravenscraft and Scherer (1987), could include an undervaluation of the target firm, or an
unbeknownst advantage in the event the two firms are combined. While the later statement is more
or less in alignment with the synergy theory, the mentioned synergy here has not been fully
evaluated by the market. The former suggests that a discrepancy between market value and private
assumption on the price of a target due to undisclosed asymmetric information. Both can put the
price of acquisition at market value but well below its true value. Valuation theory suggested that
once the target firm become acquired part of the acquiring firm and the asymmetric information is
fully disclosed, the shareholders would experience an immediate wealth effect due to revaluation of
the market based on the newly available

Comparison Of Heroism In El Dorado
When one thinks of heroism, they tend to think of great acts of bravery, such as when someone
goes into battle against a beast and when it prevents some type of catastrophic tragedy from
occurring. At least that is what one tends to think of when referring to the act of heroism in
literature. However, there is also a different, less glorified version of heroism that is sometimes
expressed in literature, but is present in our daily lives. This form of heroism is deeply
connected to the human experience in accomplishing a life s purpose. Edgar Alan Poe s El
Dorado shows a speaker who views a challenge and makes it his life mission to go after this
accolade no matter what the odds are. While, a poem called The Lotus Eaters by AlfredLord
Tennyson shows the direct opposite in our human nature depicting a story of those who rather
settle for comfort. One is focused on the optimistic possibility of the risk they are taking and the
other is focused on the pessimistic possibility as to why they rather not take the risk. When
analyzing the psychology behind heroism, the key difference is that the knight in Edgar Alan Poe s
poem was optimistic about becoming a hero, while in Alfred Lord Tennyson s poem the sailors
completely eliminated that from being an option. Those who are optimistic about achieving a goal
have at least a chance at reaching that point, however those who are pessimistic only find
themselves with one outcome and can never reach the ultimate goal. The

Fracking And The Natural Gas Production
Fracking isn t a word that most people are familiar with unless they are well informed or active in
local government or natural gas extraction. Hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, involves extracting
natural gas from shale formations underground (Collier, Galatas, Harrelson Stephens, 2008). During
the process known as fracking, millions of gallons of water are shot underground into shale
formations to help bring the natural gastrapped inside the formations to be released so that it can
surface and become available for extraction. This is the technique that is used for traditional
fracking methods. Although fracking increases the states natural gas production, it also carries
some negative side effects that are affecting the state and its people. When most people think of
Texasthey think of the booming oil industry that the state has. According to our textbook, Texas
accounts for almost one third of the country s natural gas production and holds almost almost a
quarter of the country s natural gas reserves. Texas has greatly invested in the recourses that are
found within the state which makes gives the state a huge economic advantage. When fracking is
used to help turn out even larger quantities of natural gas, the economic impact is huge. If the state
greatly invested in fracking sites and the use of both traditional and horizontal fracking, the
economic gain in the near future could be huge. The state could be turning out twice the amount of
natural gas as it is

members of the town. Working chronologically, Bort specifically mentions: The Book of the
Grotesques, Hands, Paper Pills, Godliness, Adventure, and Tandy pointing to their contribution to
the major themes of Winesburg, Ohio. He begins his analysis comparing Hands and Paper Pills as
he asserts that their relationship is central to Anderson s message. He applies each example to this

content of the collection of stories to his conclusion about the true nature of the book being the
description of what Anderson calls significant moments. Bort s essay is made up largely of
summaries of each story, and though this may be effective in illustrating his argument, the amount
of quotation used is excessive to one who has read the collection beforehand. Additionally, Bort

Battle Of Stalingrad
The Battle of Stalingrad is known as the turning point of World War II as it is notorious for being
the first crucial loss for the Third Reich. Certainly, Hitler created this two pronged attack to close
the front on the east and to essentially knock Russia out of the war, however the aggressive fighting
that came from the Russians caused the Germans to rethink their easy Blitzkrieg strategy and the
Russians launched the astonished Germans into hand to hand combat. And although the Germans
had been striking victories within Russiaafter breaking the German Soviet Nonaggression Pact, the
Germans had multiple imperfections that led to their fall at Stalingrad; for they came as
conquerors and not as liberators. This conflict is known as one of... Show more content on

Also, it would prevent a similar repeat of World War Iwhere the Germans were faced fighting a
two front war; fighting with Britain and France in the west and Russians in the east. Due to the
failure of Operation Barbarossa, Hitler had accidentally opened up the eastern front and
immediately needed to crush the Soviet to remove it and therefore secure victory. In fact, it
would be a great propaganda victory to capture the city that holds the name of the USSR
dictator, Stalin. In the end, Hitler s overall goals were to remove Soviet forces, secure the
economic assets, and move south of Moscow to overtake the remainder of the Caucasus and
Moscow. Meanwhile, Stalin, who also knew how necessary Stalingrad is in regards of
transportation and industry, prepared by creating the Stalingrad Front and passed Order No. 227,
where the only extenuating cause was death and troops were told, not one step backward, by Stalin

The Cultural Influences Of Cuba Essay
Cuba is one of the best places to visit. Because they have so many things to do. like going to the
beach and swimming and picking up hot Cuban girls. The food in Cuba is really also really
healthy. The foods are a blend of Native American Taino food, Spanish, African, and Caribbean
cuisines. Some Cuban recipes share spices and techniques with Spanish and African cooking, with
some Caribbean influence in spice and flavor. This results in a unique, interesting and flavorful
blend of the several different cultural influences, with strong similarities with the cuisine of the
neighboring Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. As a result of the colonization of Cubaby Spain,
one of the main influences on the cuisine is from Spain. Along with Spain, other culinary
influences include Africa, from the Africans that were brought to Cuba as slaves, and French,
from the French colonists that came to Cuba from Haiti. A typical meal would consist of rice and
beans, cooked together or apart. Dolphinarium, Kayo Naranjo is one of the best things to do in
Cuba, like visit dolphins to play with them and swim. Cuba is a good play to have family time
because there are so many monuments and sites to see with your family for good memories

The Day That Changed My Life And Love Of Volleyball
Sunday February 28th, 2015. I remember that date, as if it happened yesterday. That was the day
that changed my life and love of volleyball. This was the day I got severely injured during a
volleyball tournament. The day had started and gone by painfully slow. Wherever I walked
throughout North High School hallways you noticed volleyball bags, blankets, coolers, food and
wrappers all stuffed into a small corner that a team redeemed as their spot. When I walked back
into the muggy hot gym, I could smell the knee pads, ankle braces, and sweat from all the girls
playing. Along with the sound of whistles from referees and the agonizing squeaking sound of the
shoes moving against the gym floors. My team and I made our way to an empty... Show more

I went into an approach and tipped the ball right over the block but their setter got a pancake (A
dig in which the player gets the ball up by placing a flat hand on the ground (palm down) and
letting the ball bounce off the back of his or her hand) and their right side hitter took the second
ball and got an assist (Passing or setting the ball to a teammate who attacks the ball for a kill.) to
their outside and she then pushed the ball over to the deep back right corner and our setter
luckily got there just in time and our libero then assisted the ball to me, but it was too low to do
anything, so I sent a freeball over. (A ball that will be returned by a pass rather than a spike.)
They easily passed that ball and they tried to run a fast offense and do a quick set, (a set (usually
2 above the net) in which the hitter is approaching the setter, and may even be in the air, before
the setter delivers the ball.) but I realized it right away and went up to block and I got it, but
their coverage was where it needed to be also and they got the ball up. After doing that their
setting came up and dumped (The setter dump is an attack in which the setter becomes an
offensive threat to score points and cause a distraction to the opponent s block and floor defenders.
It is often used as an emergency tactic for tight passes.) She ended the point with that because my

A Lesson Of Oppression By Nella Larsen
A Lesson in Oppression From the beginning of time and around the world, women have been
subjected to patriarchal oppression in various forms. From economic hardships such as wage gaps
or an inability to own property, to social mores such as submission in marriage and sexual
objectification, women are systematically treated as second class citizens without a voice. African
Americanwomen have faced these gendered challenges in addition to racial discrimination in the
forms of slavery, unfair taxation, red lining, unequal access to education and derogatory media
representation to name a few. Passing by Nella Larsenportrays two African American women as
main characters who experience racial and gender oppression in various ways. Webster s
Dictionary defines oppression as: the state of being subject to unjust treatment or control,
prolonged cruel or unjust treatment or control; mental pressure or distress. Larsen s story delves
into social and feminist issues of oppression such as loss of identity, oppressiveness of marriage,
women s independence relating to women s lack of independence, the importance of marriage in
society, how raceand class function in society, and how relationships are dictated by race, class, and
gender.
Many of the issues explored in the story were likely experiences by the author herself. Similar to
the main character Irene, Nella Larsen was an African American of mixed descent from Chicago,
who lived in New York, and was married to a

The Pros And Cons Of College Sports
Sports can have an effect on many people, and that effect is basically allowing people to forget
about the problems that are going on in the world. Many of the problems are usually nationwide,

together and share a common interest. Also, sports on the collegiate level presents an even bigger
opportunity for fans to come together because of the many diverse schools. Studies show that
colleges and universities are educationdriven, but sports can provide organizations with an

sports are about those things, but also about making money and obtaining national recognition for

called for safer practices in college football due to the amount of injuries and deaths that were
causing many schools to question whether or not their school should continue to participate in

sports and to develop rules for the participating sports.
Additionally, in 1921 the first ever NCAA National Championship was implemented and from

How Did The Democritus Make The Atomic Theory
460 BC: Democritus Philosopher
Democritus made the atomic theory widely known, which stated that the universe is composed of
two elements: the atoms and the void in which these atoms exist and move. (More, 1646)
Democritus came up with the theories:
All materials were made up of many invisible particles called ATOMS.
Atoms are not able to be destroyed.
Atoms are solid but invisible to the human eye
Atoms are homogenous.
Atoms differ in size, shape and mass (zandrice, 2010)
1.Solids are made of small, pointy atoms.
2.Liquids are made of large, round atoms.
3.Oils are made of very fine, small atoms that can easily slip past each other

Rutherford s understanding of the atom was that the protons were clustered together in the nucleus.
The nucleus is then surrounded by empty space occupied by electrons. (Lucas Wright, 2001)
1897: James Johnson Thomson
Thomson discovered the electron. He used a cathode ray tube (an electron gun) with a magnet and
discovered that the green beam it emitted was made up of negatively charged particles. Thomson
then determined that these negatively charged electrons needed something positive to balance them
out. (Born, 2014)
From his experiments Thomson established that all electrons are identical and that elements aren t
different because of their electrons but because of how many electrons are present and their
formation. (Lucas Wright, 2001)
Thomson did many experiments and found that the mass of one of these electrons was nearly 2000
times lighter than the element Hydrogen. Thomson then disproved Dalton in stating that atoms
cannot be divided into smaller pieces. (Born,

Cons And Disadvantages Of Social Media
Social Media Social media are technologies or networks that allow people, nowadays, to share
informations and connect with each other. There are different types of social media, but the most
used are Facebook, YouTube, Gmail, Yahoo, Twitter, WhatsApp, etc. With the advancement in
technology, today these social mediaare an everyday part of life in most part of the world. They are
used for different reason and the outcome is always different. Because everything has both
advantages and disadvantages or inconveniences, social media too affect the user in both
positives and negatives ways. Like it is stated above, social media can be used for
communication. The new technologies have made it easier to connect the world in just a
glimpse. With a network like WhatsApp or Facebook, a person here in the United States is able
to talk and see at the same time his friends and family members who are in different part of the
world. Social media are another way to make friends too. For instance, if a person is too shy or
just too quiet to speak, social media can help that person have friends and communicate with them.
In other words, technology and social media work together to link the world. Other than connecting
people, social media can also be used for advertising. Today, about all businesses market their
products through advertisements. If not for the advertisements, nearly every businesses would not
be able to sell their latest products. People learn about their country or other countries in the world
through news, which are given through social media like YouTubechannel. They also can learn
about new products or weather conditions in their areas; they are able now to learn about
everything that is happening either where they live or in other places. Social media are sources of
publicity of new products; they help people stay informed about everything. Just as they have
advantages, social media also have disadvantages such as being addictive. They evolves together
with new technologies and renders people, especially young people, lazy and sometimes lonely. Dr.

The Room Hall By Ash Essay
Hustling through the school hallways, Ash could see the Dining Hall several feet away in his
sight. When he was about to reach his destination, a new voice belonging to a young female called
out to him. Hey you! He immediately skidded to a halt and glances over his shoulder to the source
of the voice, noting that two shady characters were running up to him.
The girl who called out to him moments ago had brown skin with dark red eyes and light, mint
green hair styled with a straight fringe and bangs, as well as two long locks on each side, in the
back. She wears an exotic looking white top, a shallow cut olive undershirt, white pants, and brown
chaps that end at her calves, along with an overlong belt.
Her partner in crime was a pale skinned, young man with silver gray eyes and gray hair, dressed in
a gray and black zip jacket, black pants, along with a single notched belt, and a bandana draped over
it. Protecting his arms were sets of rerebraces and vambraces.
Um, hi, is there something you two want with me? the black haired teen asked awkwardly, keeping
his eyes glued on the duo with narrowed eyes.
There was something about them he couldn t trust.
You could say that, said the dark tanned girl with a smile. By chance, are you Ash?

Multinational Corporations ( Mncs ) Essay
The enterprises that operate in numerous countries to produce or provide services outside their
original countries can be identified as Multinational Corporations (MNCs), or Transnational
Corporations (TNCs). Usually, an MNC can produce at least 25 percent of its world output outside
of its country of origin. Recently, a new breed of MNC emerges thanks to Internet based
communication tools. They begin their operations in different countries very early on. Because
they are small businesses, these companies are being called micro multinationals to distinguish
them from larger MNCs. Several of these micro multinationals are software development
companies. They have been looking for employees in many countries since the start of the age of
the Internet. Nowadays, an increasing number of micro multinationals actively market their
products and services in numerous nations. The use of Internet tools like Google, Yahoo, MSN,
Ebay and Amazon makes it easier for the micro multinationals to reach potential customers in
other countries. There are many ways to explain the diverse and manifold growth of the
multinationals. Those include these factors: (1) Expansion of market skills, (2) Superior
marketing, (3) Huge financial resources, (4) Technological edge. Expansion of Market Skill After
India announced the liberalized foreign investment policy in 1991, a growth spurt in the number of
MNCs as well as foreign collaborations occurred. The MNCs in India are very diverse. Though they

Urbanization Study in India
CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
1.1 BACKGROUND
Urbanization is the defining phenomenon of the 21st century. For the first time in history, more
than half the world s population lives in cities, with 90 percent of urban growth taking place in the
developing world. Increasing population growth in the existing urban areas and rapid urbanisation
is leading to need for increased land area to accommodate the growing population. Rapid
urbanization is turning villages are into towns, towns into big cities and cities in to metropolitan
cities. This is leading to various emerging challenges that urban areas today have to address like
inadequate housing, inefficient physical infrastructure like water, sanitation, transport, inadequate
social infrastructure like education and health, spiralling construction costs and land prices.
Therefore the critical planning is required for all the necessary inputs including the infrastructure,
social amenities and land. It is projected that over the next 20 years, India is going to witness
nearly 2 billion additional urban population in the existing urban areas, while one billion already
live in slums. However, only by efficient planning and management can rapidly growing cities be
able to harness this potential, accommodate new urban dwellers, and adequately deliver basic
services and infrastructure (World Bank Institute).
The challenge is to address and effectively manage the pressure on cities and towns and to manage
new growth. There is also a need for

Examination Of The Bones And The Data Gathered
Introduction: Last week, a couple running in the park came across some bones. They went to the
police to report what they ve found. The bones were then sent in to be observed and tested to
identify who the bones belonged to. Based upon the analysis of the bones and the data gathered,
the conclusion is that the bones belonged an Asian female over 30 years of age that was between
the height of 4 8 and 5 3 .
Summary of Findings: sex: Through examination of the bones, the individual is identified as a
female. The main bones used to determine sex are the pelvis and the skull. The pelvis is a crucial
indicator of gender, but because the individual is small in stature, the pelvis may not be as accurate.
Nevertheless, main parts of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These features indicate that the individual was or above the age of 30. However, the exact age at
this time cannot be determined based on the bones found due to the dependence on developmental
occurrences that take place conclude approximately at the age of 30 in the human pelvic girdle.
height : The height of the individual was determined to be between 4 8 and 5 3 based on the
measurements taken of the humerus bone. The humerus bone had the most important information to
investigate the approximate height of the individual based on the bone s maximum length. It was
found that the maximum length of the humerus was 270 mm, or 27.0 cm. After finding the
maximum length of the humerus, the number was plugged into the regression formula for the
correct sex and ethnicity (in this case it was female and Asian) to provide with the maximum and
minimum heights. Normally, the femur is predominantly used to find the height of an individual
but there was no available regression formula for a female of the Asian ethnicity.
Further Analysis: Facial reconstruction is a method of identifying human remains through an artist
modeling clay into an approximate reconstruction of the deceased person s face. The facial
features are based on the average soft tissue thickness over various places on the skull and jaw.

The Last Night Of The World Chapter Summary
What if the end of the world was tonight? Many people often worry about their last day of life on
Earth; if it were to ever end. This fear tends to make people think about what they could do to
make the best of their remaining time. This situation is shown in the short story The Last Night
of the World by Ray Bradbury. In this story, there are two unnamed characters who talk about
what they are thinking and feeling on their last day. These two characters connect with each other
at a higher level, dealing with the last day of their existence together. The theme of this short story
is to live life to the fullest while you can. If people live this way, then the end is less scary, and the
journey there is more enjoyable. This theme is portrayed through the characters words, describing
how they feel about the situation. The first way the theme emerges is in the girl s words. The girl is

The second way his words show is serenity with the situation is when he is describing the things

Small Cap Diaphragm
In the recording session, listening to all the tracks, I chose two different microphones from the
MXL 800 series the large and the small caps diaphragm. Both microphones were condenser
microphones. Listening to both microphones at the track I discovered few interesting facts between
them. First, I mange to listen to the smaller cap both on the recorded hammer part of the pianoand
the recorded strings and I find that both microphone had different sound. For the small cap that was
recorded on the hammer of the piano sound decent yet it sounded little muddy. It sounded like
when it had an insert plug in of a chorus or modulation that when the key was stroked the sound
was aggressively vibrating, the piano s sustain was little aggressive Picturing if there was a lot of
sound waves combined together. Also it sounded as if the piano was played in a small room which
the sound sounded much tied. Next, the smaller cap on string recording, sounded much more
balanced. It sounded tied yet the every note on the piano sounded realistic. Moreover, the dynamic
range was wide enough that it was easy to listen to especially it had good amount of bass and
harmonics of the piano. The microphone sound more open rather than narrow sound like the
hammered one.

which it becomes a dominant sound overall of the recording. Furthermore, this I came to

The Downward Spiral of the United States Economy In the world to date, there seems to be an

alone. Or, she is fiery, exotic dark caramel skin, long wind blown hair and lips red as blood. She
is a vixen, independent and loud, with a laugh that can be heard all around the room. But both of
these women come from the same place, as do the women who do not belong in either category. In
Women Hollering Creek and Other stories, Sandra Cisneros gives a voice to these women. By
showing Mexican and Mexican American culture through an intimate and diverse scope, Cisneros
highlights the oppression and degradation of women that is commonplace in this culture... Show

In the vignette entitled Women Hollering Creek , CleГіfilas is simply given away to her soon to be
husband by her father, a choice she takes basically no part in herself, despite it being a life altering
and intimate decision. This type of family dynamic is commonplace in Mexican culture, with the
power of the household being ultimately placed upon the head male figure. This is not just a
Mexican convention, however, as many women and girls especially experience gender oppression
within their own families in their relationships with men, often experiencing gender domination
(Shaw Lee, 445). This type of gender oppression can be seen in many different ways within a
family with masculine privilege presenting itself by dominating women in subtle or not subtle
ways, one such way being making and/or vetoing important family decisions , which giving away
your daughter to another man certainly is (Shaw Lee 446). After leaving behind her childhood
home and her father, CleГіfilas finds herself not only under new ownership , but also in a
completely different country. She does not speak English, and she has no friends here, or means
of leaving. Her power and familiarity has been completely stripped from her, forcing her to rely
on this new man entirely for safety. A fact which her husband almost immediately abuses, taking
to hurting her physically and secluding her from the world. He has become the new dominant
male in her life, able to make all the choices for her, regardless of her feelings or well being. In this
way, the marriage was a transaction of power which bound CleГіfilas into subservience (Shaw Lee

Planning Plan For Implementing The Planning Phase
PLANNING This program plan contains one goal and four measurable objectives in order to
facilitate the planning phase. These goals and objectives may change throughout the program plan,
as it is tentative. Furthermore, the goal and each objective will be evaluated at the end of the
implementation period in order to ensure each was met. Goal: The goal of this program plan is to
educate and assist college students in accessing the mental health resources that are available to
them on college campuses. Objectives: 1.100% of participants will have accessed the mental health
resources available through the Counseling Center at Averett University. 2.100% of participants
will have received mental health resources, such as pamphlets and counselor/psychologist contacts
in order to ensure the students maintain a positive mental state. 3.50% of students will have worked
with the Counseling Center for the first time. 4.100% of students will receive a pre and post test to
test their knowledge of mental health resources and pre and post counseling survey to show how
counseling affected their mental health/school dynamic. In order to ensure that this program plan
is a success, there are many factors, such as funding, assistance, and support that must be arranged
properly and in advance. In order to have assistance in providing mental health outlets to those who
need it, psychologists from the community as well as counselors from Averett University would

Earbuds Effect On Hearing Processes
Dear 6th graders,
I have done research about the effect that Earbuds can have on your ears in the long run and I
have found out that it can possibly damage hearing permanently. And, the reason is because of
something called decibels which is the measurement of sound and how loud it is and if it can
damage hearing. So I will explain how it happens and what we can do to prevent it.
First I will explain how hearing loss works, So it may be no surprise that loud sounds can damage
hearing, but what actually happens is that the pain is caused by damage to the nerves in your ear.
For example, if you hear something really loud close to your ear the nerves get hit by a huge wave
of sound that can damage your hearing. Furthermore, there is the question

Measuring Academic Procrastination in Australian...
Procrastination is an important individual difference construct that affects many areas of life, from
health care (delaying important medical visits or exercise) to finance (dealing with financial
troubles like credit card debt), to academic arenas. Procrastination, has been defined as the act of
needlessly delaying tasks to the point of experiencing subjective discomfort or putting off that
which is necessary to reach some goal (Lay, 1986, p474). Procrastination has been associated with
maladaptive behaviours and outcomes including anxiety, depression, stress, illness and low self
efficacy (Schouwenburg, 1995; Klassen, 2008). Academic procrastination, a unique form of
procrastination, has had minimal research compared to other psychological constructs. And as far
as the author is aware there has been no research on academic procrastination in the Australian
University context. A reliable scale measuring academic procrastination in Australian undergraduate
students is needed for the purpose of research in to theoretical foundations of academic
procrastination, who procrastinates, the reasons why, the implications, and so as to advance
understanding of this construct. In a meta analytic and theoretical review of procrastination, it was
estimated that between 80 95% of undergraduates experience problematic academic procrastination,
with up to 30% experiencing severe procrastination (Steel, 2007). Considering the effect of
procrastination on the general, work and academic

Native American Tribe
There are three main Native American tribes in South Carolina. They were known as the
Cherokee, Catawba, and Yemassee. The Cherokee was a tribe of Native Americans called the
real people located in the mountains of South Carolina. They built two types of homes for
summer and winter in their daily lives. Their summer homes allowed air to flow through to
make it cooler, and their winter homes were built with thick walls made of clay and grass called
duab to keep it warmer. Men poisoned the fishing water with walnut bark so the fish would float
to the top and be easier to catch. Men and women were allowed to be leaders of the council to
make decisions for the tribe. The holy man could be either men or women. The leader of the
nation would be a white leader during peaceful times, and a red leader would lead in times of war.

Native Americans were excellent hunters and used animal pelts for clothing, which the
Europeans adopted to keep warm during the winter months. Native Americans also knew how to

Europeans. Native American men would hunt and fish and the women would tend the crops,
make clothes out of animal pelts, and raise the children. They also introduced new weapons and

Cultural Differences Argument Analysis
Cultural Ethical Relativism is a theory that is used to explain differences among cultures, and thus
their moral codes. According to cultural relativists, different cultures have different moral codes,
and there is no objective truth in ethics. They believe there is no independent standard that can be
used to judge one s custom as better than another s. In his article entitled The Challenge of Cultural
Relativism, James Rachels offers his argument against the theory of Cultural Relativism by proving
the Cultural Differences Argument is unsound and invalid. Further in his article, Rachels reasons
against the claims made by cultural relativists, and he argues there are common values shared by all
cultures and there exists an independent standard... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the Cultural Relativism is correct, then each culture will have total freedom in which its people
can do whatever they want within their society because what is right is determined by the moral
code of that society, and we cannot judge them since there is no independent standard that can be
used to judge one s custom. For example, in the late 19th century in the Southern United States,
despite the passages of the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendment had abolished slavery and made
African Americans citizens, the majority of White Americans still perceived the Negroes as
inferior. Within the society in the South, the culture determined it was right that whites were
superior over blacks and American Whites could do whatever they pleased to the African
Americans. Consequently, the violent actions White Americans had committed against the
Negroes, such as murdering, lynching and preventing blacks to vote, were culturally acceptable in
the South. If the Cultural Ethical Relativism is right, then what these whites had done is justified as
correct and they did not commit any moral mistakes since their culture permitted such a

Physician Assisted Suicide Analysis
Brittany Maynard was a 29 year old female who was diagnosed with brain cancer with less than
six months to live. She decided that instead of suffering, she wanted to follow through with
Physician Assisted Suicide (PAS), according to Kayla Asbury in her story, The Right to Die:
Benefits of Physician Assisted Suicide. If you were in the same situation Maynard was in, what
would you do? Would you suffer until your last dying breath, or would you put yourself out of that
misery and ask for PAS?
Physician Assisted Suicide has been a very controversial topic for many years. The major spark of
the controversy was when Maynard lived in California when she was first diagnosed, but then
moved to Oregon to take her own life. According to the Merriam Webster... Show more content on

He believes that Physician Assisted Suicide would take advantage of patients, it ruins medicine
and the relationships between patients and doctors, it s a violation of family values, and it
deceives human dignity (Anderson). However, when the patient is asking for assisted suicide,
there is no proof that performing PAS abuses patients. Along with the fact that there is a protocol
that has to be taken in order for the patient to receive the drugs to end their life. Next, it doesn t
ruin the relationship between the doctor and the patient because the patient would have to trust the
doctor enough to tell them about their feelings, along with the fact that the doctor doesn t force
the patient to take the medication. As well as the fact that PAS is the next step in medicine until
researchers have a breakthrough and cure cancers. No doubt, it could compromise families;
however, in most cases, the families are supportive through the process. In fact, Asbury states,
Physician assisted suicide also lessens suffering for the family and friends of terminally ill
patients (Asbury). Meanwhile, those against PAS proclaim that PAS deceives dying with dignity,
but what they don t realize is that when the patient is dying, he or she wants to die in a way that
everyone will remember them in the way that the person was before they became sick. They want

Computer ( Pc ) And Macintosh ( Mac )
Since the 1990s, Personal Computer (PC) and Macintosh (Mac) users have waged a war about
which system is better. At first PC users said Macs had under powered processors and buggy
software, while Mac users only stated Windows 98. Today the argument is much more
complicated, and no one is going to win this war. Mac users will say the security, usability, and
design are better, while the PC users will say the price, software compatibility, and choice is
better. So there has always been this war about what is better, Mac or PC, but in the end it
comes down to personal preference. PC and Mac have always had different core operating systems.

The Rise and Fall of George McClellan Essay
George B. McClellan is famous in history because of his involvement with the civil war. He was
a powerful general who was hired, and fired by Abraham Lincoln. George was born on
December 3rd in 1826, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was born the son of a prominent
surgeon, and a caring mother. He was also the grandson of the Revolutionary War General,
Samuel McClellan. He married the daughter of a powerful Pennsylvania family. They had 5
children, two girls and three boys. When George McClellan attended the University of
Pennsylvania at age 13 in 1840, he was studying law. Two years later he changed direction, and
decided to go into the military. He asked his father to write a letter to the President of the United
States, a referral... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He graduated from his class in 1846, only coming in second due to poor drawing skills. He was
commissioned as a Brevet Second Lieutenant in the US Army Corps of Engineers. McClellan s
first military action was in the Mexican American war. He frequently complained that he was
too late to join in on the American victory. While in Mexico, he received many medals and
awards for his services as a brave engineer. He received much experience on the battlefield and it
helped his military performance. After the war, he performed peacetime service, training young
cadets at West Point, working on the construction of a fort, and surveying land for the
Transcontinental Railroad. While George was living in Ohio, he became quite popular. The
Civil War had started and there was a need for a powerful Union general. George was asked by
Governors of his state and surrounding states to become the general of volunteer Soldiers. The
general in his home state of Ohio was the most persuasive out of the three states that approached
him. It was for Ohio that he agreed to serve. He won some small battles near Ohio, which brought
national attention upon him. The North had about everything the South had, but bigger and better.
Everything but one thing; Generals. The North was lacking some good Generals to lead the war,
and with all of George s success, Lincoln approached him and asked him if he would like to be in

William Shakespeare s Sonnet 130
During the Shakespearean period love was presented in several different ways. Love was
sometimes portrayed as a war between two lovers and sometimes used to profess admiration to a
lover. In Sonnet 130, Shakespeare redefined what love poems were, by making his poem a
parody of the conventional love poems that were written by poets in the sixteenth to seventeenth
century. Prior to this poem, love poems were praised for their romantic appeals where more
often than not they praised women for their beauty and god like appearance. This poem was
known to be one of Shakespeare s most famous sonnets because of its central idea that love is not
only physical attraction. In the typical love poems women were described to have flawless skin,
rosy cheeks and were admired by everyone in their society, while this poem particularly has a
different tone to it. It mocks the typical love poems by stating his honest feelings towards his
lover. The poem began by using the term mistress, a word that indicates that the poem was
addressed to someone he loved (1). The word mistress lets the reader know that the poem was a
love poem, and if Shakespeare had started this poem with any other line there would have been
confusion on whether if it was a love poem or not, the tone would change. The next line states that
his lovers eyes was nothing like the sun, which usually in love poems after the lover was identified
there would be a simile comparing her eyes to the sun not the opposite (1). The poet

115 pounds, 5 foot, 4 inches, with great 32B tits, a flat sculpted belly and rocking hips.
People in her family gained weight easy, and could almost never take it off. Her mom was close to

After school, Mallory would go to Jeff s house, her boyfriend, and smoke pot in his attic; Jeff
was the one who really convinced her to start smoking. A bunch of other kids from school would

Why Buyers Should Not Consider Purchasing A Home
After increasing my own financial awareness and witnessing the financial journeys of others during
the past recession, I find that boomerang buyers should not consider purchasing a home as their
sole financial investment. Mortgages with ballooning payments mixed with hopes of future
refinancing are a dangerous combination. These factors precipitated the last housing bubble and
the eventual recession period. In order to learn from past behavior, home buyers should ensure
that they habitually save for a rainy day fund because financial rainy days have proven to be
cyclical. Purchasing a home should be a process that results in a buyer feeling comfortable with the
home they choose versus simply selecting the largest mortgagefor which they... Show more content

  • 3. The Education System Of The Republic Education is a transfer of knowledge from one generation to another. Some societies have oral traditions while others transfer the knowledge by written works. In Plato s Republic, for Socrates the education system is structured in two major parts: the education of the mind and character and the physical training. For Socrates, truth, justice, and goodness are the main principles for a utopic society. Indeed, for him the truth is universal and therefore in order to have a perfect utopic society it community should be dedicated and based on truth. In fact, in this imaginary society the educational system is an oral transfer of knowledge, which is based on trues stories and fiction. The Republic shows that in this imaginary society the educationis strictly control and does not portray any of the three principles of a utopic society. The educational system of The republic demonstrates that nothing is utopic in this imaginary society. The education of this society is controlled and people could only have one set of mind. Everyone is different and therefore should have the right of choosing when, how and what they want to study. The varieties of educational system normally allow this, but in this society, it is not the case. In this society, the education is supervised and controlled: Then it seems that our first business is to supervise the production of stories, and choose only those we think suitable, and reject the rest (Plato377 b). • 8. Australian Landscape Patrick White s novel, Voss (1957) tells the story of a nineteenth century German explorer s journey into the Australian landscape. In this essay, I will examine the attitudes and assumptions towards the Australian landscape over the past 200+ years, and evaluate what has changed in these contexts. Attitudes can depend on many cultures, these cultures can differentiate depending on things such as gender, attitude to the outdoors, individuality, conquest, religion, being urban or rural and drought. These are only a few of the hundreds of different cultures that can affect attitudes and assumptions towards Australian landscapes. The extract depicts that the interaction with the landscape is very European based. When Laura Trevelyan states: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Clode 2006), then discusses that although many parks were explicitly designed to protect areas of great natural beauty and value, it was rare for parks to be established in the face of competing commercial interests (p.14). This led to the Little Desert dispute in 1967 and changed the system of public lands. It galvanised public opinion, and the environment threatened, became a major issue in the 1970 elections. This can be seen as a culture of time and circumstances. 1970 can be seen as the hippie , controversial age of people that wanted to protect the environment and this is a culture that has changed the future. The 1970 election then lead to an increase in size and number of national parks, the establishment of an environmental protection agency, and from then on the future of Victoria s public lands was to be decided rationally, scientifically and critically on the basis of scientific research and public opinion. The Effect Barbary Pirates Had on the History of America The effect Barbary Pirates had on the history of America Algeria, Morocco, Libya, Tunisia; The current day names for the land of which the Barbary Pirates had once inhabited. These Barbary States would extort the world of their men and their cargo through plundering of naval ships. In the same time period there was a newly discovered land, which was striving to mature into an independent country. This land was known as America, and they were rigorously tearing apart from their homeland, England. Once the United States declared independence, British diplomats were quick to inform the Barbary States that U.S. ships were open to attack. In 1785 (PA). The United States did not enjoy paying off the pirates, so they took it to their own hands to stop this problem once and for all. The defeat of the Barbary States, by Americans helped the naval security, a huge amount in the future of the Land of the Free , and allowed for lots of fighting experience. From 1786 to 1815, the United States made tribute payments to the North African Barbary states to protect its shipping from pirate raids (Kearney F, Barbary pirates ). This ended when Jefferson was elected into presidency. He had been against the tribute of the Barbary States his whole life in office, and so when he was elected, he stopped paying tribute and refused to pay a ransom for many goods and men that the pirates had rummaged. This angered the pirates, and so war was unofficially declared, and Jefferson had a blockade ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Outline and evaluate postmodern views on the diversity of family life Postmodern sociologists support the view that family has become diverse in contemporary UK. They see that people have become fragmented and identities are more individualistic, meaning everyone is different and let them be. Family life is different for everyone. Stacey (1996) says that the family no longer progresses through a range of stages. Meaning everyone is diverse, and that there is no longer a dominant type of family. This is similar to the Rapoports view of stage in life cycle diversity. Which says family life is different for newly married couples who do not have children than for those who do have children. The key to the postmodern view of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some new right thinks regard these single parents as the underclass seeing them as work shy and benefit scroungers . Also as them having short term sexual relationships, and having children with men who do not see their offspring as their responsibility. All negative views of this type of family structure. Functionalists say the nuclear family is best, as the woman needs to be there, to provide the family with emotional gratification, and take care of the domestic labour, also the warm bath theory. Whereby, she runs the man a warm bath when he comes home from a stressful day at work, in order to make him relax with the family and wine down. And the man in the nuclear family, provides the economic support. Whilst new labour gives the impression they support differing family structures, it still gives negative views on most families that are not the nuclear family. They see teenage pregnancy, as a social problem, which is against diversity. As this is diverse in the way that, different people have different stages in life cycle. Where teenage pregnancies, are having children earlier than others. Duncan (2006) challenges the assumptions of New Labour that teenage pregnancy is a social problem. Every modern day society faces racial conflicts. Humans are equal, whether they are white or black, etc. Hatred among different racial groups is common in out modern day society. Ignorance of the equality of every humancauses racism. Humans need laws to follow and the lack of these laws cause conflict between humans. Rescuing a society from racial conflicts will cause a lot of people their jobs and even their lives but at the end it will be worth it for later generations. The situation in the film where Eva Benitez has to be a witness against an innocent teenager to save one of her own is an example of rescuing a society. She knew that her boyfriend killed the Asian guy but was influenced by her parents and friends to testify against a black guy who was also a suspect. With time, Eva realized that a criminal must be found even if it was someone she loves and that made her tell the truth to the judge about who killed the Asian guy. Another example of the ignorance of the equality of humans is when Tito drew a picture of a black man with big fat lips and passed it through the students until it got to Jamal Hill which was affected by the photo. The cause of these immature actions is feeling the need to disrespect others because one is not being respected themselves. Tito was proud and he reached his goal by bringing down Jamal s self esteem. When the teacher saw that drawing of a black man with big lips, she made a reference to The Second World War. She also made a reference to a gang during The Second World War who started out poor, angry, and looked down upon. This gang was given importance when Adolf Hitler came into power in Germany and that is when The Holocaust began. The Nazi s had a certain outlook on the superior race and hated Jewish people. • 12. Hannah Arendt Minority Treaties Hannah Arendt s begins the chapter with the first part of after the fall of the First World War stating the condition of the stateless people clarified the catastrophe of the nation state model and the failure of human rights. When the nation system was created, the people in power in Europe separated the people into 3 major groups which are the state people, the nationalities like the Slovaks in Czechoslovakia, and the minorities like the Germans, being the strongest officially economically and in number. The bases of feudalism is best described as a social system in Europe throughout the Middle Ages where individuals worked and battled for upper class who gave them protection and the use of the land in return for their services (Merriam Webster). Feudalism is not a medieval term and not even a translation of a medieval concept (Abels 2010; Brown 2010; Bouchard 1998). In our day and time Feudalism would be difficult and baffling in several ways, but some may feel that we would benefit from it. During this time the social class depended on how much land you owned. • 14. Analysis Of Cosmopolitism In Things Fall Apart By Chinua... It is unbelievable to think that an action of what a person does in the present, can either lead to nothing or it can become a catastrophe event. In Things Fall Apart, Achebe writes about the Nigerian culture through the events that happen to the main character which is Okonkowo. In Cosmopolitism, Appiah writes about the different values, morals, and cultures people in the world have and how people can live together despite having differences. The event that could have had a different outcome was when the Abmae elders decided to execute the white missionary man and later on the group of white people massacred the Abmae village. If the characters in the event were more cosmopolitan with the concept of understanding each other and uncalled for punishment, then the event could have been a different outcome. When one applies Appiah s idea of understanding each other and uncalled for punishment in Cosmopolitism to the event in Things Fall Apart, the event changes to when the elders would not have executed the white missionary man and therefore there would be no massacre from the group of white people. When the white man riding a bicycle came to the Abmae village, the villagers were horrified to see a foreigner. The white man who came to Abmae did not cause any harm to the villagers and yet the elders of the Abmae village decided to execute the white man. The villagers did not try to understand why the white man was here for. In Cosmopolitism, Appiah states One truth we hold ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Theories Of Synergy Theory One of the theories used to explain why firms engage in M A is the synergy theory. Synergy theory or hypothesis asserts that the sum value of both individual firms before an M A is lower than that of the combined firm (Seth, 1990). This increase in value is due to the effect of the synergy potentials which could only be realized by combining operational and financial resources of both firms. These synergies present the extra value created by merger. Thus, creating value for shareholders that at least equates or exceeds the cost of the acquisition should be the primary objective of any M A. Essentially, synergies should be the sole principle in justifying companies to engage in M A. In theory, financial synergy of a merger is realized when... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No private assumption on the value of a company is given. Oftentimes, this is not the case. The Harris poll published in 1984 suggest otherwise. According to the Harris poll, only 32 percent of the surveyed executives thought that the stock market correctly value their companies price, while 60 percent disagreed and felt that their companies are undervalued (Harris poll, 20 February 1984). This private assumption of fair price could easily find its way onto the M A negotiation table. Therefore, another theory the valuation theory is also used to analyze how M A could create value for the shareholders. The valuation theory states that the managers of the acquiring firm may possess more knowledge of the target firm than what actually is being valued through the price of stock in the market (Trautwein, 1990). The knowledge, termed asymmetric information by Ravenscraft and Scherer (1987), could include an undervaluation of the target firm, or an unbeknownst advantage in the event the two firms are combined. While the later statement is more or less in alignment with the synergy theory, the mentioned synergy here has not been fully evaluated by the market. The former suggests that a discrepancy between market value and private assumption on the price of a target due to undisclosed asymmetric information. Both can put the price of acquisition at market value but well below its true value. Valuation theory suggested that once the target firm become acquired part of the acquiring firm and the asymmetric information is fully disclosed, the shareholders would experience an immediate wealth effect due to revaluation of the market based on the newly available ... • 17. Comparison Of Heroism In El Dorado When one thinks of heroism, they tend to think of great acts of bravery, such as when someone goes into battle against a beast and when it prevents some type of catastrophic tragedy from occurring. At least that is what one tends to think of when referring to the act of heroism in literature. However, there is also a different, less glorified version of heroism that is sometimes expressed in literature, but is present in our daily lives. This form of heroism is deeply connected to the human experience in accomplishing a life s purpose. Edgar Alan Poe s El Dorado shows a speaker who views a challenge and makes it his life mission to go after this accolade no matter what the odds are. While, a poem called The Lotus Eaters by AlfredLord Tennyson shows the direct opposite in our human nature depicting a story of those who rather settle for comfort. One is focused on the optimistic possibility of the risk they are taking and the other is focused on the pessimistic possibility as to why they rather not take the risk. When analyzing the psychology behind heroism, the key difference is that the knight in Edgar Alan Poe s poem was optimistic about becoming a hero, while in Alfred Lord Tennyson s poem the sailors completely eliminated that from being an option. Those who are optimistic about achieving a goal have at least a chance at reaching that point, however those who are pessimistic only find themselves with one outcome and can never reach the ultimate goal. • 18. Fracking And The Natural Gas Production Fracking isn t a word that most people are familiar with unless they are well informed or active in local government or natural gas extraction. Hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, involves extracting natural gas from shale formations underground (Collier, Galatas, Harrelson Stephens, 2008). During the process known as fracking, millions of gallons of water are shot underground into shale formations to help bring the natural gastrapped inside the formations to be released so that it can surface and become available for extraction. This is the technique that is used for traditional fracking methods. Although fracking increases the states natural gas production, it also carries some negative side effects that are affecting the state and its people. When most people think of Texasthey think of the booming oil industry that the state has. According to our textbook, Texas accounts for almost one third of the country s natural gas production and holds almost almost a quarter of the country s natural gas reserves. Texas has greatly invested in the recourses that are found within the state which makes gives the state a huge economic advantage. When fracking is used to help turn out even larger quantities of natural gas, the economic impact is huge. Working chronologically, Bort specifically mentions: The Book of the Grotesques, Hands, Paper Pills, Godliness, Adventure, and Tandy pointing to their contribution to the major themes of Winesburg, Ohio. He begins his analysis comparing Hands and Paper Pills as he asserts that their relationship is central to Anderson s message. He applies each example to this pair of stories with opposing representations of isolation, and in the end, relates the structure and content of the collection of stories to his conclusion about the true nature of the book being the description of what Anderson calls significant moments. • 33. Urbanization Study in India CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION 1.1 BACKGROUND Urbanization is the defining phenomenon of the 21st century. For the first time in history, more than half the world s population lives in cities, with 90 percent of urban growth taking place in the developing world. Increasing population growth in the existing urban areas and rapid urbanisation is leading to need for increased land area to accommodate the growing population. Rapid urbanization is turning villages are into towns, towns into big cities and cities in to metropolitan cities. This is leading to various emerging challenges that urban areas today have to address like inadequate housing, inefficient physical infrastructure like water, sanitation, transport, inadequate social infrastructure like education and health, spiralling construction costs and land prices. Therefore the critical planning is required for all the necessary inputs including the infrastructure, social amenities and land. It is projected that over the next 20 years, India is going to witness nearly 2 billion additional urban population in the existing urban areas, while one billion already live in slums. However, only by efficient planning and management can rapidly growing cities be able to harness this potential, accommodate new urban dwellers, and adequately deliver basic services and infrastructure (World Bank Institute). The challenge is to address and effectively manage the pressure on cities and towns and to manage new growth. There is also a need for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The bones were then sent in to be observed and tested to identify who the bones belonged to. Based upon the analysis of the bones and the data gathered, the conclusion is that the bones belonged an Asian female over 30 years of age that was between the height of 4 8 and 5 3 . Summary of Findings: sex: Through examination of the bones, the individual is identified as a female. The main bones used to determine sex are the pelvis and the skull. The humerus bone had the most important information to investigate the approximate height of the individual based on the bone s maximum length. It was found that the maximum length of the humerus was 270 mm, or 27.0 cm. After finding the maximum length of the humerus, the number was plugged into the regression formula for the correct sex and ethnicity (in this case it was female and Asian) to provide with the maximum and minimum heights. Normally, the femur is predominantly used to find the height of an individual but there was no available regression formula for a female of the Asian ethnicity. Further Analysis: Facial reconstruction is a method of identifying human remains through an artist modeling clay into an approximate reconstruction of the deceased person s face. The facial features are based on the average soft tissue thickness over various places on the skull and jaw. These vary a lot by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. The Last Night Of The World Chapter Summary What if the end of the world was tonight? Many people often worry about their last day of life on Earth; if it were to ever end. This fear tends to make people think about what they could do to make the best of their remaining time. This situation is shown in the short story The Last Night of the World by Ray Bradbury. In this story, there are two unnamed characters who talk about what they are thinking and feeling on their last day. These two characters connect with each other at a higher level, dealing with the last day of their existence together. The theme of this short story is to live life to the fullest while you can. If people live this way, then the end is less scary, and the journey there is more enjoyable. This theme is portrayed through the characters words, describing how they feel about the situation. Both microphones were condenser microphones. Listening to both microphones at the track I discovered few interesting facts between them. First, I mange to listen to the smaller cap both on the recorded hammer part of the pianoand the recorded strings and I find that both microphone had different sound. For the small cap that was recorded on the hammer of the piano sound decent yet it sounded little muddy. It sounded like when it had an insert plug in of a chorus or modulation that when the key was stroked the sound was aggressively vibrating, the piano s sustain was little aggressive Picturing if there was a lot of sound waves combined together. Also it sounded as if the piano was played in a small room which the sound sounded much tied. Next, the smaller cap on string recording, sounded much more balanced. It sounded tied yet the every note on the piano sounded realistic. In the vignette entitled Women Hollering Creek , CleГіfilas is simply given away to her soon to be husband by her father, a choice she takes basically no part in herself, despite it being a life altering and intimate decision. This type of family dynamic is commonplace in Mexican culture, with the power of the household being ultimately placed upon the head male figure. This is not just a Mexican convention, however, as many women and girls especially experience gender oppression within their own families in their relationships with men, often experiencing gender domination (Shaw Lee, 445). This type of gender oppression can be seen in many different ways within a family with masculine privilege presenting itself by dominating women in subtle or not subtle ways, one such way being making and/or vetoing important family decisions , which giving away your daughter to another man certainly is (Shaw Lee 446). Procrastination is an important individual difference construct that affects many areas of life, from health care (delaying important medical visits or exercise) to finance (dealing with financial troubles like credit card debt), to academic arenas. Procrastination, has been defined as the act of needlessly delaying tasks to the point of experiencing subjective discomfort or putting off that which is necessary to reach some goal (Lay, 1986, p474). Procrastination has been associated with maladaptive behaviours and outcomes including anxiety, depression, stress, illness and low self efficacy (Schouwenburg, 1995; Klassen, 2008). Academic procrastination, a unique form of procrastination, has had minimal research compared to other psychological constructs. For example, in the late 19th century in the Southern United States, despite the passages of the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendment had abolished slavery and made African Americans citizens, the majority of White Americans still perceived the Negroes as inferior. • 54. William Shakespeare s Sonnet 130 During the Shakespearean period love was presented in several different ways. Love was sometimes portrayed as a war between two lovers and sometimes used to profess admiration to a lover. In Sonnet 130, Shakespeare redefined what love poems were, by making his poem a parody of the conventional love poems that were written by poets in the sixteenth to seventeenth century. Prior to this poem, love poems were praised for their romantic appeals where more often than not they praised women for their beauty and god like appearance. This poem was known to be one of Shakespeare s most famous sonnets because of its central idea that love is not only physical attraction. In the typical love poems women were described to have flawless skin, rosy cheeks and were admired by everyone in their society, while this poem particularly has a different tone to it. It mocks the typical love poems by stating his honest feelings towards his lover. The poem began by using the term mistress, a word that indicates that the poem was addressed to someone he loved (1). The word mistress lets the reader know that the poem was a love poem, and if Shakespeare had started this poem with any other line there would have been confusion on whether if it was a love poem or not, the tone would change. The next line states that his lovers eyes was nothing like the sun, which usually in love poems after the lover was identified there would be a simile comparing her eyes to the sun not the opposite (1). She was always at the top of the pyramid, routinely securing first place for the dance competitions with her acrobatics. Anyone would want to go out with her, or die trying. She was 115 pounds, 5 foot, 4 inches, with great 32B tits, a flat sculpted belly and rocking hips. People in her family gained weight easy, and could almost never take it off. Her mom was close to 230, and her dad was around 260. When they were young, they ate what they wanted and gained, never taking the weight off. Mallory had managed to avoid that so far, but soon, that would all change. After school, Mallory would go to Jeff s house, her boyfriend, and smoke pot in his attic; Jeff was the one who really convinced her to start smoking. A bunch of other kids from school would meet there and they would all talk about various things: who was the best person on Jersey Shore, why did the school start doing ordered parking, when is the first football game of the season, et cetera. This daily routine led to her having complications with the school. During her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was October, so people stopped coming in as much. • 57. Why Buyers Should Not Consider Purchasing A Home After increasing my own financial awareness and witnessing the financial journeys of others during the past recession, I find that boomerang buyers should not consider purchasing a home as their sole financial investment. Mortgages with ballooning payments mixed with hopes of future refinancing are a dangerous combination. These factors precipitated the last housing bubble and the eventual recession period. In order to learn from past behavior, home buyers should ensure that they habitually save for a rainy day fund because financial rainy days have proven to be cyclical. Purchasing a home should be a process that results in a buyer feeling comfortable with the home they choose versus simply selecting the largest mortgagefor which they... In July of this year, Michael Orr, the Director of the Center for Real EstateTheory and Practice, stated that In the past two months the number of building permits in the $200,000 to $500,000 range has increased, but this does not mean that Arizona s metropolitan housing markets are completely in the clear.
