Risk And Implement Falls Prevention Measures
More Staff is Not the Solution to Decrease Patient Falls Falls in an acute care setting lead the list of
injury related deaths and deaths in the elderly. A fall is defined as any event which patients are found
on the floor (observed or unobserved) or an unplanned lowering of the patient to the floor by staff or
visitors (Kalisch, Tschannen, and Lee, 2012, p. 6). Medicare and Medicaid changes in 2008 list falls as
one of the 10 hospital acquired conditions for which hospitals will no longer be reimbursed because
falls are considered preventable conditions. Joint Commission accredited hospitals are required to
assess for falls risk and implement falls prevention measures. Central to nursing ethics is the principle

Patients being admitted to hospitals today have multiple co morbidities and are on a number of
medications making them a high risk for falls. Having an awareness of a patients diagnoses, pertinent
history and current medications is key in establishing an appropriate plan of care. Staffing shortages
can lead to omission of tasks such as a complete admission history and falls risk assessment. As
with any assignment, regardless of the amount of patients one is caring for, prioritization needs to be
utilized when completing tasks and making care decisions. Further work must be done to assist nurses
in completing necessary tasks...which may or may not mean additional staff members (Kalisch,
Tschannen Lee, 2012, p. 11). Developing strategies such as computerized reminders and checklists are
necessary to ensure complete and appropriate nursing care is delivered. (Kalisch, Tschannen Lee,
2012, p. 11) The lack of proper education on identification of falls risk and falls prevention measures
impact patient falls. Staff turnover and the use of temporary staff contribute to miscommunication or
lack of communication on processes such as fall prevention measures. Experience levels vary on any
given unit. Educational needs assessments should be routine and include temporary and new staff.

Group Presentation: Progressivisms
Woodrow Wilsons Acts to Progressivisms
In the year of 1912, Democrat electoral candidate Woodrow Wilson was running in the Presidential
Election against T.R. Roosevelt, W. Taft and E. Debs. After winning by a sland slide, and being
nominated as the 28th President of the United State. President Wilson quickly went to work to save
this nation from them, thus he created 2 antitrust laws and establishing the first federal bank.
Thus, in 1912 Wilson started to reshape America The Federal Reserve Act of 1912 was the beginning
of President Wilson s one of three progressivisms acts, within the first 2 yrs. of him being in power.
This was Wilson s first act as President and his progressive movement to help and stabilize a nation
from an economic depression, unfair labor exploitations, and end of corporate monopolies.
I do not want a government that will take care of me, he declared. I want a government that will make
other men take their hands off so I can take care of myself. Woodrow Wilson:
This act states law help reconstructed the national banking and currency system. This was an effort to
regulate the country s credit and monetary affairs. It provided a central institution that could hold the
reserves of the commercial banks and increase those reserves, thereby making the nation s money
supply more elastic in order to cope with changing economic conditions, especially with an economy

My Writing For Health Class
I don t remember how old I was, or even what grade I was in. After all, several decades have gone by
since then. What I do recall is my utter disbelief the day my mother suddenly altered our usual
homework chatter. Typically, I d shout out how to spell a word and then mom would holler back the
series of letters, steadily and three at a time. But not that day. What do you mean, look it up myself? I
hollered back, clearly confused. I could hear the water running and dishes clinking as she washed up
from lunch. Her response took a few seconds, which felt like forever.
Look it up yourself. She finally repeated. I winced. Is this because I didn t do so well on my last
spelling quiz?
No mom, I m not doing spelling, I m writing my report for health class. I tried again, pencil still
poised mid sentence on the blue line of the paper waiting for the letters to come.
That s ok. The dictionary s right there on your shelf. She replied with that parental hint of finality.
But mom... I groaned the words, how am I supposed to look it up if I don t know how to spell it? Only
the sounds of her motions around the kitchen came as a reply.
I ll never get to go outside and play. I muttered to myself before moving woodenly over to wrestle
with the giant tome that was my mother s dictionary.
I didn t appreciate it (at all) at the time, as children so often don t, but occasionally mothers actually
do know best. This proved to be a significant juncture in my literacy development, not

Rhetorical Analysis Of While We Sleep
Since the beginning of time, those not classified as men have faced many struggles. This wide group
ranges anywhere from children to women. The working boom in America is one of many factors that
is accountable for the limitations these groups face. These powerless groups did not have enough
voice, originally, to demand equal treatment under the law and society. Therefore, many reform groups
arose during American history to encourage society to call to action the freedom we all enjoy and
protect today. In her speech given before the National American Women Suffrage Association in
Philadelphia, Florence Kelly utilizes anaphora, rhetorical questions, an empathetic yet sarcastic tone,
and selection of detail to emphasize unfairness in working conditions for children and to encourage
her audience to take feminist action. Kelly effectively uses anaphora throughout her speech with the
purpose of getting her audience to bring about change. The repetition of the phrase While we sleep
stresses the unethical conditions these voiceless children had to face. Every time this phrase is stated,
it builds up her impact and works the audience towards her advantage. Kelly appeals to her audience s
empathetic emotions and moral values by utilizing the importance of sleep. Her listeners understand
the vitality of sleep, thus stressing that these children lack this, brings her a huge step forward. She
forces her audience to face the sad reality that they peacefully sleep, as young children

Different Crime Scripts Of Acquaintance And Decision...
Although largely unreported, sexual offending by adult acquaintances is a highly prevalent crime
(Silva, 2004). This review will look at how crime scripts , through a rational choice perspective, aids
in the situational prevention of crime. Furthermore, it will analyse the literature concerning this crime,
identifying the modus operandi and decision making processes adopted by offenders, defining the
different crime scripts of acquaintance rape illustrated in previous empirical literature. This review
will finally identify areas not charted by the literature and highlight where the literature could have
logically continued with prescriptive preventative measures.
Sexual offending by adult acquaintances is usually a purposive and deliberate act and therefore,
according to Rational Choice Theory (which assumes this), in both the planning and execution of the
offence, the offender will have made a series of rational choices, with the intent on benefiting
themselves outweighing any perceived risks associated with their commission of this crime. (Clarke
Felson, 1993; Cornish Clarke, 2008). Rational Choice Theory suggests that the decision to engage in
criminal behaviour is influenced by a rational assessment of the cost benefit of the efforts, rewards and
risks when encountered with a crime opportunity (Cornish Clarke, 1986; 2008). This perspective
proposes that crime is committed because it provides the most effective means of achieving desired
goals, such as money,

Kinkaku 2 Research Paper
Kinkaku ji is one of the most recognized and most fascinating places in Kyoto, Japan. Kinkaku ji sits
on top of Kyoto s northern hilltops. Famously known as Temple of the Golden Pavilion , Kinkaku ji s
official name is actually Rokuon ji. Kinkaku ji originated from the villa occupied by Shogun Ashikaga
Yoshimitsu after his retirement. He carefully built Kitayamaden, making it a beautiful and peaceful
place to spend his retirement. In 1408, Yoshimitsu died leaving a will behind and special instructions
for the future of the complex he had built. His final wish was for Kitayamaden to become a Zen
temple. His son followed his instructions and Kinkaku ji was created. The temple is commonly known
as Temple of the Golden Pavilion because of the pavilion s striking top floors. Kinkaku ji is made up
of three floors. All of them structured differently. The building is called the Golden Pavilion because
the two top stories are covered in golf leaf. The gold is not the only imposing detail. In front of the

Legal Ethical Issues with Advertising and Online Counseling
Since the end of World War 2, the technology one sees around them and uses everyday has grown
exponentially. In the field of counseling, phones, fax machines, copiers, and computers are all used to
run everyday operations and transfer information. Despite how great technology can be, ethical issues
can arise because of it. For example, talking on the phone with a client in a crisis situation can create a
condition in which confidentiality can be breeched. (McMinn, 1999).
One new way in which technology has been used to extend the services of the counseling field is
through online counseling. According to Corey (2011), online counseling can be beneficial because

LaCombe s online counseling business and advertising.
The first ethical issue with this online counseling venture is the fact that it is labeled as an online
counseling program for people in crisis, but one does not need to provide their name to get therapy.
This breaks two ethical codes found in the American Counseling Association s Code of Ethics (2005).
The first one is ACA: A.1.a which cites that as a counselor, one is responsible for the welfare of the
client s and promoting that welfare. The second one is A.12.c which states that counselors should
avoid using technology assisted counseling services when it would be better or more appropriate to
use face to face services (ACA, 2005). If a suicidal individual goes on Dr. LaCombe s site and let s
their online therapist know, how is said therapist supposed to get that individual help if they do not
know their name? In addition, it may be more appropriate to help people in crisis in person as opposed
to over the internet.
Secondly, according to Corey (2011), many online counseling providers do not have an intake
procedure, a confidentiality waiver, or informed consent write up. Dr. LaCombe s site does not have
an intake procedure or confidentiality waiver. Her website has some aspects of informed consent such
as a statement about live counseling versus online counseling and payment. That said she does not talk

Vernier Gas Pressure Lab Report
In this lab, I worked with three other partners: Alexis Koch, Scott Webb, and Nicholas Coffey. In the
first portion of the lab, our goal was to discover the relationship between pressure and volume. We
began the experiment by plugging in the Vernier computer interface and the Vernier Gas Pressure
Sensor to the computer and started the Logger Pro software. We prepared the 20 milliliter gas syringe
to be placed into the Vernier Gas Pressure Sensor by putting approximately 12 milliliters of air into it.
We did this to easily maneuver the syringe to different amounts of volume. We began to collect data
from the Logger Pro at various amounts of volume from 1 to 20 milliliters. We recorded 239.59,
227.50, 122.50, 100.50, 83.05, and 63.03 kPa at 0, 5, 10, 12, 15, and 20 milliliters. From plugging my

therefore I thought it would be an exciting match to attend. In addition, as a student of the university I
had never attended a women s volleyball game, which is alarming considering that I am a senior. The

Combating Childhood Obesity And Its Effects
Combatting Childhood Obesity
Tanema Foster
University of Missouri Kansas City
May 4, 2016
In today s society it is easy to get caught up into living a sedentary and unhealthy lifestyle. With new
technologies, social media, etc, people are choosing to opt out of doing much active work and are
choosing to do things from the comfort of their own bed or couch. Many people choose to enjoy the
luxuries of online shopping, banking, mail, socializing, ordering food, games, and even dating!
Additionally, United States citizens have fully embraced the fast food industry for some of the same
reasons. It s much easier and cheaper than buying groceries all of the time, so many families have
adapted fast food to be the default choice for their everyday meals. Much of fast food is very
unhealthy; full of saturated fat and sugars that can induce fatal diseases and illnesses. So although we
are advancing as a nation when it comes to conventional living and technology, we are also seeing a
dramatic decline in the amount of people who are living and leading healthy lifestyles and thus an
increase in obesity. Diseases such as obesity can be prevented by simply making the right health
choices. But what about those who don t have a choice? What about the children? Today I m going to
go in to depth about childhood obesity, what it is, why it is concerning and what is being done about it.

surpassed the boiling point of water at 100 degrees celsius, thus vaporizing it and collecting it after it
condensed. If all of this occurred, the ethanol concentration by weight should increase from Fraction 3
1 and the density of ethanol should have decreased.
The results of this experiment follow this to an extent as from Fractions 3 1 the distillate collected had
a density as followed: .6857, .5719, .5741 respectively. The sources of error that explains why
Fraction 2 contained more ethanol concentration as opposed to less is because it is possible that the
pocket or valley of the condenser tube next to the clamp as indicated in figure 1 as A, is an area where
vapor gas particles of ethanol may have been trapped. If these vapor gas particles were able to be
released as the distillate for Fraction 2 was collected, Fraction 2 would have then yielded a slightly
higher ethanol concentration than Fraction 1, thus density would have decreased instead of increase.
In simple distillation, the distillate collected was not nearly as pure as Fractional distillation because
Fractional distillation allows for additional distillation and purification of these liquid components due
to the beads that act as theoretical plates. Also, in Simple Distillation, the boiling point of water was

Smallpox Vaccine Advantages And Disadvantages Essay
Smallpox was a serious and extremely contagious disease which left three out of ten of its victims
dead. Those who survived were permanently scarred and sometimes blinded. In 1977, however,
smallpox was defeated and eradicated. The disease which once killed so many people now exists only
in laboratories. This was accomplished by widespread vaccination (What is Smallpox?). Contrary to
recent controversy, the benefits of vaccines far outweigh the disadvantages. Vaccines have been
proven effective tools for disease prevention and should continue to be used.

At the conclusion of World War 1, Germany were in a serious war debt. They continued to print paper
money but did not have the economic resources to back it up. There reparation need to be payed in
Gold or foreign currency, therefore the Germans printed paper marks in mass quantities to buy foreign
currency. This further increased the inflation of the paper mark. In 1922, Germany had no way to pay

were worth over 1000 trillion Reichsmarks. The results of this hyperinflation divested the German
people. The prices of basic things doubled within minutes, leaving most unable to afford them. It

Argumentative Essay Childcare
14.2 million children under age 13 met federal requirements for child care subsidies in 2011 2012. Of
that number, 8.6 million were eligible under state policies. Yet only 1.5 million children actually
received the subsidies. That means only 10.6 percent of the number of children meeting federal
guidelines actually get the subsidy (Davidson 2017). The question that will be answered throughout
this paper is, how accessible is childcare in the United States? Child care is the care of children by a
day care center, babysitter, or other provider while parent/ parents/ or legal guardian is working. The
median household income for the United States is $53,8895 (Census Bureau) and the average cost of
childcare is between $10,000 and $16,000 (Hamm 2015). This means that childcare can cost families
making the median income 30% of their annual income. Given that this is the median household
income, half of households have an income that is below this costing them more than 30% of their
income. The United States has excellent child care that is affordable for some, however, most low
income families are unable to afford it.
Child care is incredibly important for the youth because has been proven to improve children s
development. Early childhood education has a countless number of benefits, including more equitable
long term outcomes for children of diverse economic backgrounds. Additionally, investing in these

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Research Paper
Symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal tunnel syndrome is a common condition treated by orthopedists. The carpal tunnel is a narrow
structure inside of your wrist which houses flexor tendons and the median nerve, both of which are
protected by a type of tissue called synovium. When the synovium swells, pressure is put on the nerve,
resulting in numbness in the palm side of the thumb and long fingers. Many factors can cause the
synovium to swell and crowd the median nerve including heredity, hormonal fluctuations, hand usage,
age, and medical conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and diabetes. There are several symptoms
that indicate carpal tunnel syndrome. These are often experienced when holding a steering wheel
while driving or at

Weapons and Personal Protective Equipment When protecting individuals from others that may wish
to do them harm, kidnap them, or just be near them because they think that the person he or she is
stalking is theirs in some way it is important to protect oneself first. In today s world of popularity of
movie stars and political figures it has become more increasingly important for those individuals to

Use of Force
The use of force has always been a questionable tactic in law enforcement and security fields.
Everyone always questions how much force is needed, was the force justifiable and could the officer
have done something differently to deter the use of force. By teaching officers and protection agents
what is the appropriate level of force and in what situations force can be stronger will help to prevent
unnecessary questioning by the public and the media. Most agencies have guidelines and policies that
outline the use of force. These guidelines describe the escalating continuum that is appropriate for
officers and agents to use.
The use of force continuum is designed into five separate levels. Level one is the simple presence of
an officer or agent. The agent is non threatening and professional, and the mere presence of the agent
is to act as deterrence for an attacker. Level two is the verbalization level. This is when an agent uses
verbal commands such as please step back, stop, or do not move to make the individual to stop his or
her approach. This is a non physical stage and is used to let the attacker know that there is someone
present to stop him or her if he or she continues. Level

Dance Community
The dance community that surrounds me has been the most impactful in my life. My mother first
signed me up for dance classes when I was only four years old, and now almost fifteen years later I am
still dancing. I started out at a dance studio in Gresham, Oregon, where I then danced for ten years. I
took classes, performed, and started competing against other dancers and studios around when I was
nine years old. It didn t hit me that I enjoyed performing until I started dancing in more and more
shows. Dance was a struggle for many years at this specific studio. There was a lot of moves that I
couldn t do, and I got left behind, as the other dancers my age improved and became more flexible. I

I knew two people at this studio and I was definitely farther behind than all the dancers my age. It
made me feel like I didn t want to dance. My entire freshman year I felt like I was just trying to fit in
and get involved in the studio. At my old studio, people had known me for six plus years, and at the
new studio no one knew me. I rarely got any compliments and only critiques that entire first year. The
summer before my sophomore year I took classes and started really focusing on improving my
technique as I didn t have the distractions of the school year. I started getting compliments and started
gaining knowledge and skills in my tap classes. I auditioned for the competition team that the studio
had my sophomore year and I got cast in a specific role that was made just for me. It was at this point
where I started focusing on dance and only tried out for the school musicals instead of every show
during the school year because I knew I could still be performing in my acting classes, but my dance
needed the most improvement, so in order to help me for my future career I decided that the best thing
was to pursue dance in every way I could. I started going to conventions and doing solo routines as
well as my group routines with the other dancers in the studio at competitions, and I actually wasn t
doing half bad. I began receiving compliments and growing closer to the girls I now call family. I
danced with this studio for four years, and when I left for college, I know I left a little part of me

Adaptation In The Tempest
The Tempest is believed to be the final play written by English playwright William Shakespeare
(Arnold 2009: 1). This allegorical play takes place on an exotic island and describes the master slave
relationship between Prospero the virtuous ruler and Caliban the ugly evil. Approximately three and a
half centuries later, French poet and author Aimé Césaire, who objected to colonialism and was
concerned about post colonial issues, published A Tempest ( Une Tempête ), a post colonial adaptation
of Shakespeare s work.
While the two plays share the same characters and provokes similar ideal dichotomies of master and
slave; colonizer and colonized; natural and supernatural (Chan 2008: 1), there are differences, for
instance, Caliban becomes a Black slave and the ending is changed in Césaire s version. Based on
these alterations, some consider A Tempest not a translation of The Tempest but rather an adaptation
that stands on its own, independent of the original. In response to this view, this paper attempts to
examine the relationship between the two versions and analyze in what ways A Tempest can and
cannot be regarded a translation of The Tempest. The reason to view Césaire s work not as a
translation of Shakespeare s but as an adaptation only will first be presented. How the ... Show more

Translation can now be seen as a form of response that recognizes, preserves, and even multiplies the
ambiguities of the original text (Beals 2014: 288) and offers contemporary outlook or even solutions.
The radical departures of Césaire s translation from lexical and content equivalence can therefore be
seen as a form of dialogue with Shakespeare s original (ibid: 293). Indeed, traces of ambiguities being
attended to and modern viewpoints regarding colonialism being inserted can be detected within A

Chicago Fire Of 1871 Essay
The horrific Chicago Fire devastated Chicago, Illinois on October 8, 1871, continuing until October
10, 1871. Hundreds of lives and thousands of homes were claimed by the fire (Duis 435). Many were
left without a single possession, causing them to start over on their lives completely. Although for
some this would have been bad, for others, it meant a new start for a better life. It gave criminals a
chance to clean up their life and go back to their families. The cause of the Chicago Fire of 1871 is
still unknown, although it left much devastation until Martial Law took over, resulting in the city
patriotically rebounding back. There are many theories about how the Chicago Fire of 1871 began, but
most researchers think that the cause of the fire was Patrick and Catherine O Leary s cow ( Chicago

White Supremacy In African Americans
Race refers to a group of persons who are different from other groups due to their alleged genetic and
physical traits. On one hand, racism is the preconception that members of a certain race are prime than
individuals of other races. In America, white supremacy is the belief that whites are superior to others.
White supremacy took different forms, such as colonialism, slavery, and apartheid and has led to
institutional racism. Members of minority races, particularly African Americans, have experienced
institutional racism in both political and social institutions in many forms including discrimination in
health care, employment, incarceration rates, housing, education, and politics. On the other hand,

low interest loans so that they could conform to civilian life. However, many African American
veterans did not profit from this bill like their White Americans counterparts. Although the bill did not
explicitly advocate racial discrimination, it was interpreted differently for both races and it somehow
simulated the Jim Crow laws. For example, mortgage agencies and banks refused to lend loans to
African American veterans after they returned from war, making them face poverty (page 308). The
war on drugs has been viewed as a discriminatory process because it has led to the captivity of more
Africans Americans than slavery. American prisons house more African Americans due to
discriminatory mandatory sentencing and misguided drug laws since the drug war began in the 1970s

Comparing 1984 And Nectar In A Sieve, And 1984
People are neither inferior nor superior and should have the freedom to express their authentic selves
without fear of being negatively judged. These rules are violated only when powerful elite believe that
they can rule over the masses. 1984 is a work of fiction, providing a stark view of the thriving culture
of totalitarianism, symbolizing as a reflection of modern fact in the USA and the world today. The
Freedom of Speech has become so restricted that the only one source of news is operated by the
governing body; whereas Kamala Markandaya writes about changing economic and political
situations in her country, her novel which was published in 1954 seven years after India gained its
independence from the British Imperialism. Industrial revolution lured Indians away from their
traditional roles to participate in the new economy. She emphasis on issues like the importance of
Freedom of Rights alongside the importance of goodness and spirituality. The poor suffer at the hands
of the strong but some of them understand that knowledge is a powerful tool for change, and redefine
the dishonor, repudiates their caste and crosses their skin color difference. In both novels, people
struggle for their rights. Whether it s a patriarchal society in which the right to property and right to
make important decisions rests with the eldest male members of the society as in Nectar in a Sieve or
in 1984 where woman are defined in a role of nurturer, procreate and espionage. Although 1984

What you can safely say is that because the metallic oxides and silicon dioxide have giant structures,
the melting and boiling points are all high.
Electrical conductivity
Silicon dioxide doesn t have any mobile electrons or ions so it doesn t conduct electricity either as a
solid or a liquid.
The molecular oxides
Phosphorus, sulphur and chlorine all form oxides which consist of molecules. Some of these
molecules are fairly simple others are polymeric. We are just going to look at some of the simple ones.
Melting and boiling points of these oxides will be much lower than those of the metal oxides or silicon
dioxide. The intermolecular forces holding one molecule to its neighbors will be van der Waals
dispersion forces or dipole dipole interactions. The strength of these will vary depending on the size of
the molecules.
None of these oxides conducts electricity either as solids or as liquids. None of them contains ions or
free electrons.
The phosphorus oxides
Phosphorus has two common oxides, phosphorus (III) oxide, P4O6, and phosphorus (V) oxide,
P4O10.
Phosphorus (III) oxide (tetraphosphorus hexoxide)
Phosphorus (III) oxide is a white solid, melting at 24°C and boiling at 173°C.
The phosphorus is using only three of its outer electrons (the 3 unpaired p electrons) to form bonds
with the oxygens.

The Incident Command System Essay
Emergency services face vast difficulties in the operations field when handling emergency situations,
whether it comes from handling a minor accident to a catastrophic catastrophy. Many of the
difficulties do not come from the actual incident, but instead they arise from forming a rescue team
containing different agencies and people. For the benefit off all individuals participating, it is
imperative that there be a unified command structure in place to effectively coordinate and oversee the
tasks that need to be accomplished. The need of a unified command was seen from the hardships faced

Directly receiving directions from the Incident Commander as well as reporting to the Command Staff
are sections that oversee, plan, and assemble the necessary resources to carry out the Incident Action
Plan passed down from the Command Staff. The Operations Section is managed by the Operations
Section Chief who oversees all tactical operations at the incident. Deputies can then be appointed
underneath the Operations Section Chief to control different Branches of operations in order to keep
the span of control in scale. Ideally one individual should only control five other individuals on scene.
As resources grow, the span of control can be reduced through the implementation of Divisions and
Groups. Divisions can be used if the need arises to slit operations into geographical locations. This
allows for the Operations Section Chief to pass on vital information to crews in a specific location.
These divisions may simply be a quadrant of a structure, as well as a large area. It enables for all
Divisions to communicate and work together, even through the use of different methods. Groups can
then be implemented to further break down Divisions into smaller more manageable resources. In
each geographical location, the ability to control law

Anthem Security Breach Case Study
In January 27, 2015, it was revealed that a security breach had occurred at Anthem, Inc (Ragan, 2015).
The breach has been in position since December with hackers gaining access to massive amounts of
user and customer data. What kinds of mistakes did Anthem make? How bad were they? Could they
have had better protections in place? Would deeper cryptography have helped with the security and
safety of the data that Anthem kept? These are the questions we need to answer.
The discovery of the breach looks like it was made by accident, but, in truth, it was the work of a
savvy database administrator. The administrator noticed that his credentials were being used to run
queries that he didn t run. However, this wasn t the first time that hackers had tried to breach the
Anthem security precautions. In fact, they had tried multiple times, but failed each time until they
succeeded. The true power of the hackers was patience, which recalls the simple truth of security. The
simple truth of security, whether that security be physical or cyber, is that there is no system which
cannot be breached if you have enough time.
Aspects of the Breach The primary factor in this breach, as it very often is, was people. In the end, it s
always about people. A company can have the best security protections in place and the hackers need

`` The Yellow Wallpaper `` And The Court Cases Like Ellen...
From short stories like The Yellow Wallpaper, to the court cases like Ellen Pao s Suit vs. Kleiner
Perkins, and even a data book like Women in the Labor Force, it is clear to see that inequality and
mistreatment of women still exists today. People often say that inequality is a thing of the past,
however it has been a serious problem since the dawning of civilization itself, and it is still so today.
Women are often seen as lesser beings than men, and are treated accordingly. It is getting better, and
women are starting to take their rightful places as equals in the workforce, and as equals in general.
However, the world still has a long way to go before the inequality and mistreatment of women comes
to a complete stop. In The Yellow Wallpaper, the authors explores the world through the eyes of the
narrator. The narrator is a woman who has been taken away to live in the countryside for the summer
due to temporary nervous depression (Gilman). This diagnosis was done by her husband, a physician,
who treats her more like a possession than a spouse. Though he has diagnosed her with this, he is seen
saying that she is not really sick at all. He gives her incorrect medicines, not believing her when she
says something is wrong. Throughout the story, it is shown that she is not ever taken seriously, her
husband even going so far as to say that she shall be sick as she pleases (Gilman) this implying that
she is making up her illness for attention, and that it is all

Preventing Terrorist Acts with the USA Patriot Act
The USA Patriot Act also known as Uniting and Strengthening America Act by Providing Appropriate

congress and signed into law by former President George Bush. This law was passed to prevent
another event of terrorist attacks such as the ones that took place on September 11, 2001 in New York
City and Washington, D.C. In less than two months of the 9/11 attacks, this act was released to inform
citizens of the United States that their freedom from interference would soon come to an end. Ever
since the Patriot Act was put into effect it has violated the American s civil rights by allowing for
invasions of privacy, permitting illegal searches and seizures, and legalizing racial profiling. On

I really enjoyed Edgar s character even if he was short lived. He was meant to be the snobby bank

But I want to focus on the key points in the statement above. Suicide is a very common thing in
history, literature, and sadly reality itself. It could be caused by many things, in this case I believe
what caused Edgar to put a bullet through his skull was a trigger of bad impulsive behavior. Some of
his last thoughts were of not wanting to live in a world without dollars, and how dishonourable it
would be. If he had thought over how illogical his plan of escape was, I don t think he would have
continued. The cowardice statement could be a metaphor for death, and how fear could trap the person
who created it into their own deaths. A deer in the headlights if you will. Edgar was a coward for not
having the guts to face their fears, and going out and trying to survive, but immediately going to a gun
s help. But fear is not easy to escape, and something all of us can relate to most of all.I myself have a
slight fear of unevenness and being alone. Edgar probably had a fear of disorder without knowing, and
the sudden impact of it just, as I said before, fried his nerves. This causing him not to think straight

Analysis Of The Bluest Eye
In The Bluest Eye, Pecola the protagonist is taken under the Macteer family s wing much like The
African family is community based and the nurturing quality is not contained within the nuclear
family, but is rather the responsibility of the entire community (Ranström). In traditional Africa each
child has a place and is welcome in the community. The act of parenting another child was not odd
because every adult that lived in each community believed that any child is welcome in anyone s
home. This, however, is not the case for Pecola. Although traditional African culture was integrated
into The Bluest Eye, it was not fully combined. Pecola lives in a very abusive household and always
wonders to herself, what if she were white, what if she had blue eyes? Would it change things,
hopefully for the better?
Pecola obsesses over all things white because the town makes fun of her blackness. Pecola is alone
due to her lack of beauty. In one scene Pecola is laughed at called e mo and other names as other black
children make fun of her blackness. Morrisons uses collective voice to show the racial segregation at
the time was not only white people, but it was the different shades of black. Something that someone
cannot control. The boy bullying Pecola had extemporized a verse made up of two insults about
matters over which the victim had no control: the color of her skin (Morrison, check page#). Pecola,

The Greek Storage Jar ( Amphora ) Depicting Man And Boy
The Greek Storage Jar (Amphora) depicting man and boy was created around 550 540 BCE. It was
found in Ancient Greece. The amphora storage jar is made out of terracotta and it is eleven inches in
height. Then it was painted on with black and brown paint. This jars colors are used to create contrast,
the lines are used to unify it, the shapes on the object are the most important part of the image and
patterns are used on the jar to help fill the space on the jar. Therefore colors are used to create contrast.
There are three different colors on the jar: the natural color of the terracotta, the brown paint and the
black paint. Since terracotta is a neutral color it provides an excellent background for the painting.
Black is a very dark color and it makes the people and the designs stick out. People use black paint
when they want their design to be important. Brown is a neutral color and it is used to show the not so
prominent part of the image. The little bit of brown paint shows the ground the people are standing on.
It also unifies the other places where it appears. Looking at the top there is a pattern painted with both
the black and brown paint to show contrast. After contrast is seen unity is also seen with lines. Lines
are used to unify the artistic image on the Greek storage jar. The thicker the line the more important it
is, the thinner the line the less important it is. The lines create objects which then create the entire
image. Many different patterns are also

Mating Among Seahorse Research Paper
Mating among Seahorses
by
Tina Huang
February 12, 2015 Organisms have participated in mating in order to pass their offspring into another
generation. Mating refers to when animals court and breed each other, an act of reproduction. Male
pregnancy is the norm for seahorses, becoming a part of behavioral evolution. Male parental care has
led to the broad diversity of seahorses or sympatric speciation. Seahorses use assortative mating, also
known as choosing mates based on their body size. The dependency of this type of mating was a
consequence of the monogamous mating system and lifestyle of seahorses. Monogamous pairing is
when marriage is to one entity at a time, compared to bigamy or polygamy. The demonstrated
adaptative differences such as size in the same habitat proves the occurrence of sympatric divergence.
Is that the only factor that influences the rise of new seahorse species? In this paper, I will examine
five studies, from vast areas relating to the mating of seahorses and their patterns of mating behavior,
illustrating its role in sympatric speciation. Altogether these studies demonstrate the uniqueness of
seahorses and provide a new outlook on the diversity that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Research Paper On Atonement
Introduction My general theology is based on John 3:16, For God so loved the world that he gave his
only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. This has
always impacted the way that I have talked about God. I ve spoken about God in a manner of love
because He loves us enough to give His only begotten son for our salvation. He loved us enough to
make it simple enough for us to gain salvation by believing being the requirement spoken of in this
scripture. He loved us enough to not allow us to perish if we believe Him in His love is ultimate and
His love is the foundation for my personal theology. In this project I will cover areas that were read
prior to class and also discussed in class. I will discuss my understanding of what I discern and
believe. I will discuss the problem of sin and the hope of salvation. I will discuss the scope of
salvation, atonement and its effect. I will give an overview of the Via Salutis connecting the saving
work of Christ with my understanding of justification and sanctification. Lastly, I will discuss the role

There is implicitity in particularism that being saved through Christ is by His prevenient grace and not
necessarily through the name Jesus Christ. There is explictity in particularism which means you can
only being saved by the name Jesus Christ and no other name can replace it. In Inclusivism we can
start out in other religions believing in Allah or Buddha but we eventually get to Christ and by Him we
are saved. In pluralism faith is validated on its on merit. One way that it could be validated is through
Christ or through Allah or through Buddha but it still leads to salvation. In parallelism you can t say
anything about anyone else s religion. We all our accountable for our own religion and we all have our

The Case Of Harvey And Capability Limited
The Case of Harvey and Capability Limited
Before analysing, Harvey needs to be advised that there are two known clauses that exist in a contract;
limitation clause and exclusion clause. He needs to understand that there is a difference between both
of these clauses. When there is a breach of the contract, the limitation clause that is relied on in a
contract and enforced would make an effort to pay for certain damages. This can only be used as an
indicator for Harvey to recognise their differences, but, it will not be explained any further as the
enquiry made is only related to exclusion clause. Capability Limited is a private limited company that
has subcontracted a sole proprietor, Reckless Enterprise. As the damages were done by Reckless
Enterprise, with the matter of who is liable to pay for it, the court needs to look deep into the
consequences of Capability Limited and how Reckless Enterprise was included in the Memorandum
as a third party.
Exclusion Clauses
If the contract is breached, the party relying on the exclusion clauses will not be responsible for
paying for any damages (Treitel, 1995). If the document does not have any intention for the contract,
exclusion clause will not be bound. As it can only be defined in this manner, Harvey also has to ...

It is a philosophy of Contract Law. There should be an intention to make an offer, and, to accept and
consider to it. Although it is read without comprehending, the person signing the contract would still
be bound by it. In L Estrange v Graucob, the claimant purchased a cigarette vending machine and
signed the order without reading the clause. She sued the defendants as it did not work but the court
argues that, once signed, she was automatically bound by the clause regardless of whether she read it
or not. However, in other cases, it can be argued that there are other exceptions that would be
convinced that exclusion clauses will not be

The Impacts Of Cultural Tourism In Cuba, Cuban, Cuba
Mindless, repetitive locals performing once sacred and revered ceremonies now on a daily basis is
nothing tourists think about when they vacation to culturally preserved areas, yet this unintended
cultural destruction is unfortunately the blatant truth. Due to recent travel restrictions lifted by
President Barack Obama, Cuba is now open to American citizens to vacation. Whether for the better
or worse, new tourism within a previously undisturbed area such as Havana, Cuba, is liable to have
significant effects on the social, economical, and environmental aspects of their culture.
Past relations between the United States and Cuban government have been less than favorable. After
the Cuban revolution, the island established a communist government, therefore angering the United
States as they were fighting foreign wars in an attempt to end communism. In 1961, the United States
severed relations with the island, and since then have restricted travel to and from Cuba. Recently, in
2015, President Barack Obama repealed the travel ban with Cuba, loosening up trade and tourism
between the two countries, but not ending their communist ways. This newly accessible country now
acts as a beacon to world travelers wanting to learn the ways of Cuban lifestyle. Cuban culture
revolves around everything from the people s lifestyle, to the economy, to the natural ecosystem
enveloping the island. This is called cultural tourism. This being said, this poses a number of new
issues for

What I do recall is my utter disbelief the day my mother suddenly altered our usual homework chatter. Typically, I d shout out how to spell a word and then mom would holler back the series of letters, steadily and three at a time. But not that day. What do you mean, look it up myself? I hollered back, clearly confused. I could hear the water running and dishes clinking as she washed up from lunch. Her response took a few seconds, which felt like forever. Look it up yourself. She finally repeated. I winced. Is this because I didn t do so well on my last spelling quiz? No mom, I m not doing spelling, I m writing my report for health class. I tried again, pencil still poised mid sentence on the blue line of the paper waiting for the letters to come. That s ok. The dictionary s right there on your shelf. She replied with that parental hint of finality. But mom... I groaned the words, how am I supposed to look it up if I don t know how to spell it? Only the sounds of her motions around the kitchen came as a reply. I ll never get to go outside and play. • 6. Rhetorical Analysis Of While We Sleep Since the beginning of time, those not classified as men have faced many struggles. This wide group ranges anywhere from children to women. The working boom in America is one of many factors that is accountable for the limitations these groups face. These powerless groups did not have enough voice, originally, to demand equal treatment under the law and society. Therefore, many reform groups arose during American history to encourage society to call to action the freedom we all enjoy and protect today. In her speech given before the National American Women Suffrage Association in Philadelphia, Florence Kelly utilizes anaphora, rhetorical questions, an empathetic yet sarcastic tone, and selection of detail to emphasize unfairness in working conditions for children and to encourage her audience to take feminist action. Kelly effectively uses anaphora throughout her speech with the purpose of getting her audience to bring about change. The repetition of the phrase While we sleep stresses the unethical conditions these voiceless children had to face. Every time this phrase is stated, it builds up her impact and works the audience towards her advantage. Kelly appeals to her audience s empathetic emotions and moral values by utilizing the importance of sleep. Her listeners understand the vitality of sleep, thus stressing that these children lack this, brings her a huge step forward. • 8. Different Crime Scripts Of Acquaintance And Decision... Although largely unreported, sexual offending by adult acquaintances is a highly prevalent crime (Silva, 2004). This review will look at how crime scripts , through a rational choice perspective, aids in the situational prevention of crime. Furthermore, it will analyse the literature concerning this crime, identifying the modus operandi and decision making processes adopted by offenders, defining the different crime scripts of acquaintance rape illustrated in previous empirical literature. This review will finally identify areas not charted by the literature and highlight where the literature could have logically continued with prescriptive preventative measures. Sexual offending by adult acquaintances is usually a purposive and deliberate act and therefore, according to Rational Choice Theory (which assumes this), in both the planning and execution of the offence, the offender will have made a series of rational choices, with the intent on benefiting themselves outweighing any perceived risks associated with their commission of this crime. (Clarke Felson, 1993; Cornish Clarke, 2008). Rational Choice Theory suggests that the decision to engage in criminal behaviour is influenced by a rational assessment of the cost benefit of the efforts, rewards and risks when encountered with a crime opportunity (Cornish Clarke, 1986; 2008). This perspective proposes that crime is committed because it provides the most effective means of achieving desired goals, such as money, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With new technologies, social media, etc, people are choosing to opt out of doing much active work and are choosing to do things from the comfort of their own bed or couch. Many people choose to enjoy the luxuries of online shopping, banking, mail, socializing, ordering food, games, and even dating! Additionally, United States citizens have fully embraced the fast food industry for some of the same reasons. It s much easier and cheaper than buying groceries all of the time, so many families have adapted fast food to be the default choice for their everyday meals. Much of fast food is very unhealthy; full of saturated fat and sugars that can induce fatal diseases and illnesses. So although we are advancing as a nation when it comes to conventional living and technology, we are also seeing a dramatic decline in the amount of people who are living and leading healthy lifestyles and thus an increase in obesity. If all of this occurred, the ethanol concentration by weight should increase from Fraction 3 1 and the density of ethanol should have decreased. The results of this experiment follow this to an extent as from Fractions 3 1 the distillate collected had a density as followed: .6857, .5719, .5741 respectively. The sources of error that explains why Fraction 2 contained more ethanol concentration as opposed to less is because it is possible that the pocket or valley of the condenser tube next to the clamp as indicated in figure 1 as A, is an area where vapor gas particles of ethanol may have been trapped. If these vapor gas particles were able to be released as the distillate for Fraction 2 was collected, Fraction 2 would have then yielded a slightly higher ethanol concentration than Fraction 1, thus density would have decreased instead of increase. In simple distillation, the distillate collected was not nearly as pure as Fractional distillation because Fractional distillation allows for additional distillation and purification of these liquid components due to the beads that act as theoretical plates. Of that number, 8.6 million were eligible under state policies. Yet only 1.5 million children actually received the subsidies. That means only 10.6 percent of the number of children meeting federal guidelines actually get the subsidy (Davidson 2017). Child care is the care of children by a day care center, babysitter, or other provider while parent/ parents/ or legal guardian is working. Everyone always questions how much force is needed, was the force justifiable and could the officer have done something differently to deter the use of force. By teaching officers and protection agents what is the appropriate level of force and in what situations force can be stronger will help to prevent unnecessary questioning by the public and the media. Most agencies have guidelines and policies that outline the use of force. These guidelines describe the escalating continuum that is appropriate for officers and agents to use. The use of force continuum is designed into five separate levels. Level one is the simple presence of an officer or agent. The agent is non threatening and professional, and the mere presence of the agent is to act as deterrence for an attacker. Level two is the verbalization level. This is when an agent uses verbal commands such as please step back, stop, or do not move to make the individual to stop his or her approach. • 25. Adaptation In The Tempest The Tempest is believed to be the final play written by English playwright William Shakespeare (Arnold 2009: 1). This allegorical play takes place on an exotic island and describes the master slave relationship between Prospero the virtuous ruler and Caliban the ugly evil. Approximately three and a half centuries later, French poet and author Aimé Césaire, who objected to colonialism and was concerned about post colonial issues, published A Tempest ( Une Tempête ), a post colonial adaptation of Shakespeare s work. While the two plays share the same characters and provokes similar ideal dichotomies of master and slave; colonizer and colonized; natural and supernatural (Chan 2008: 1), there are differences, for instance, Caliban becomes a Black slave and the ending is changed in Césaire s version. Based on these alterations, some consider A Tempest not a translation of The Tempest but rather an adaptation that stands on its own, independent of the original. In response to this view, this paper attempts to examine the relationship between the two versions and analyze in what ways A Tempest can and cannot be regarded a translation of The Tempest. This jars colors are used to create contrast, the lines are used to unify it, the shapes on the object are the most important part of the image and patterns are used on the jar to help fill the space on the jar. Therefore colors are used to create contrast. There are three different colors on the jar: the natural color of the terracotta, the brown paint and the black paint. • 42. Mating Among Seahorse Research Paper Mating among Seahorses by Tina Huang February 12, 2015 Organisms have participated in mating in order to pass their offspring into another generation. Mating refers to when animals court and breed each other, an act of reproduction. Male pregnancy is the norm for seahorses, becoming a part of behavioral evolution. Male parental care has led to the broad diversity of seahorses or sympatric speciation. Seahorses use assortative mating, also known as choosing mates based on their body size. The dependency of this type of mating was a consequence of the monogamous mating system and lifestyle of seahorses. Monogamous pairing is when marriage is to one entity at a time, compared to bigamy or polygamy. The demonstrated adaptative differences such as size in the same habitat proves the occurrence of sympatric divergence. Is that the only factor that influences the rise of new seahorse species? In this paper, I will examine five studies, from vast areas relating to the mating of seahorses and their patterns of mating behavior, illustrating its role in sympatric speciation. Altogether these studies demonstrate the uniqueness of seahorses and provide a new outlook on the diversity that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 43. Research Paper On Atonement Introduction My general theology is based on John 3:16, For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. This has always impacted the way that I have talked about God. I ve spoken about God in a manner of love because He loves us enough to give His only begotten son for our salvation. He loved us enough to make it simple enough for us to gain salvation by believing being the requirement spoken of in this scripture. He loved us enough to not allow us to perish if we believe Him in His love is ultimate and His love is the foundation for my personal theology. In this project I will cover areas that were read prior to class and also discussed in class. I will discuss my understanding of what I discern and believe. I will discuss the problem of sin and the hope of salvation. I will discuss the scope of salvation, atonement and its effect. I will give an overview of the Via Salutis connecting the saving work of Christ with my understanding of justification and sanctification. Lastly, I will discuss the role ... • 44. The Case Of Harvey And Capability Limited The Case of Harvey and Capability Limited Before analysing, Harvey needs to be advised that there are two known clauses that exist in a contract; limitation clause and exclusion clause. He needs to understand that there is a difference between both of these clauses. When there is a breach of the contract, the limitation clause that is relied on in a contract and enforced would make an effort to pay for certain damages. This can only be used as an indicator for Harvey to recognise their differences, but, it will not be explained any further as the enquiry made is only related to exclusion clause. Capability Limited is a private limited company that has subcontracted a sole proprietor, Reckless Enterprise. As the damages were done by Reckless Enterprise, with the matter of who is liable to pay for it, the court needs to look deep into the consequences of Capability Limited and how Reckless Enterprise was included in the Memorandum as a third party. Exclusion Clauses If the contract is breached, the party relying on the exclusion clauses will not be responsible for paying for any damages (Treitel, 1995). If the document does not have any intention for the contract, exclusion clause will not be bound. As it can only be defined in this manner, Harvey also has to ... Although it is read without comprehending, the person signing the contract would still be bound by it. In L Estrange v Graucob, the claimant purchased a cigarette vending machine and signed the order without reading the clause. She sued the defendants as it did not work but the court argues that, once signed, she was automatically bound by the clause regardless of whether she read it or not. However, in other cases, it can be argued that there are other exceptions that would be convinced that exclusion clauses will not be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. The Impacts Of Cultural Tourism In Cuba, Cuban, Cuba Mindless, repetitive locals performing once sacred and revered ceremonies now on a daily basis is nothing tourists think about when they vacation to culturally preserved areas, yet this unintended cultural destruction is unfortunately the blatant truth. Due to recent travel restrictions lifted by President Barack Obama, Cuba is now open to American citizens to vacation. Whether for the better or worse, new tourism within a previously undisturbed area such as Havana, Cuba, is liable to have significant effects on the social, economical, and environmental aspects of their culture. Past relations between the United States and Cuban government have been less than favorable. After the Cuban revolution, the island established a communist government, therefore angering the United States as they were fighting foreign wars in an attempt to end communism. In 1961, the United States severed relations with the island, and since then have restricted travel to and from Cuba. Recently, in 2015, President Barack Obama repealed the travel ban with Cuba, loosening up trade and tourism between the two countries, but not ending their communist ways. This newly accessible country now acts as a beacon to world travelers wanting to learn the ways of Cuban lifestyle.
