Social Workers And Substance Abuse
Field of Practice
Social workers who work in the area of substance abuse concentrates on specific clients that have an
addiction problem and those who are abusing different drug substances. Social workers who are
working and dealing with cases of substance abuse can help clients on their journey to rehabilitation
by being supportive, offering encouragement, and making the path to restoration a slightly easier.
Social workers in this field use their knowledge and abilities to comprehend the needs of the client in
relation to their substance abuse problems. The social worker measures the client to understand the
severity of the substance abuse in order to know how to deal with the client. Social workers
experienced in substance misuse and addiction often work as part of a team with other specialists,
particularly licensed alcohol and drug therapists, doctors, and nurses.
The NASW states that, Many states require alcohol and drug certification in order to work in
concentrated dependence treatment settings (nasw.org). The NASW provides a general overview on
how social workers practice in the field of substance abuse and their goals. The National Association
of Social Workers states that, By developing and pertaining evidence informed methods that include
proven interventions and evolving procedures based on developing research findings, social workers
can evidently improve treatment amenities for clients and their families. This methodology to service
delivery demands that

Essay on The American Revolution and the Formation of Bolivia
 Introduction
The American Revolution did much more than any of our founding fathers had ever imagined, it
started a movement that would threaten the very roots of colonialism across the globe. Setting an
example of how a David could overcome a Goliath, the United States inspired regions such as Latin
America to fight for their rights and liberties as well. One such region that embraced the message was
Upper Peru, which would later be known as Bolivia. With some key tipping points that caused the
war, the leaders of the soon to be formed nation rallied its troops and won several major battles, but
even they couldn t prevent the tough times that lay in the early years of the nation. From the year
1809, Upper Peru was engaged in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Simon Bolivar, who had a reputation of being a liberator, took center stage. The common folk began
to trust his words, as he talked about fighting for the resources that were theirs, ideals taken directly
from the American Revolution itself. Also with the power struggle created by the Napoleonic wars,
uprisings began. The most prominent of this movement was the uprising in Chuquisaca in 1809, which
led to the formation of the Government Juntas. This group focused on taking the power from the
Spanish and giving it to the people. Seeing the movement in Bolivia take shape, Latin Nations such as
Peru began to provide military support to Bolivian liberators. Surprisingly, America didn t live up to
its reputation, having no negative impact on this revolution. Normally, America had been notorious for
backing up the dictators or colonial powers and suppressing the Latin liberators. All in all, the
combination of a power struggle brought upon by foreign wars, introduction of revolutionary
independence ideals, proper leadership, and foreign aid, the Bolivian revolution was successful in
liberating the nation from Spanish Colonial power after 16 years of conflict.

The Alumni Of The University Council Essay
Engaged to improve the experiences of other like minded individuals As we saw in the first subtheme,
the Black alumni in this study who are engaged with Cornell are usually engaged through an affinity
association in order to spend time with like minded individuals. Those alumni who are also involved
in other aspects of Cornell choose to do so in order to address the needs of alumni of color and future
students of color or to feel a part of the process of change through holding leadership roles. Malcolm
enjoyed being part of university council because it made him feel connected to Cornell. He had an
active role in helping the university communicate its mission to other alumni and spent time with
other campus leaders with similar goals. He was also involved with interviewing potential students.
Now he is only engaged through CBAA. He states:
The most exciting and connectedness I felt was the Cornell University Council, which I was on for 3
years. It was a way of reinforcing the connectedness that alums would feel...There was a discussion
around students, faculty, and around curriculum...At the present time, my only involvement is through
CBAA. Langston was also a member of university council and joined because of his active
involvement with CBAA. He talked about how important it was to have intergenerational
conversations with other Black alumni. Langston also discussed the impact on the experiences of

ABSTRACT
Surveys in several office buildings have shown that crowded work places, job dissatisfaction and
physical environment are the main factors affecting productivity. the data was produced and analyzed
using occupational stress indicator in conjunction with the analytical hierarchical process. thermal
problems, stuffiness, sick building syndrome factors and crowded work places were most frequent
complaints. the results suggest that the productivity could be improved by 4 to 10% by improving the

Questions were also asked about personal health; job stress; job satisfaction; an overall opinion about
the indoor environment; including questions about five categories of sick building syndrome covering
sensory irritation; skin irritations; nervous problems; nasal and odor complaints.
Section B
The questionnaire concerned subjects views on how they liked the office layout and decoration as well
as questions about their job in relation to productivity. They are also asked to rate how much personal
control they felt had over temperature and lighting.
Four questions were asked to determine self assessed productivity covering the amount of work
accomplished; quality of work; feeling of creativity; and degree of responsibility.
Section C
The questionnaire was concerning information which describes the characteristics of the organization,
workplace and some personal information. Occupants were then asked about human factors such as

Feet By Seamus Deane Summary
Feet, September 1948 from Reading in the Dark (1996) by Seamus Deane
Feet , an extract from Reading in the Dark by Seamus Deane, depicts the death of a young girl, Una,
from the perspective of her unnamed older brother. It focuses upon the narrator s observations, of both
his sister and the adults around him, as well as the emotions and reactions of the narrator.
Throughout the extract, Deane crafts an atmosphere of intimacy, and innocence, through his word
choice and use of perspective. By choosing to write from the first person perspective, Deane allows
the reader to feel more connected with the narrator s thoughts and feelings, as the emotions being
depicted are raw and unfiltered, amplifying their emotional impact upon the reader. Furthermore, the
first person narrative allows Deane to modify his diction for effect, simplifying it through his
repetition of the pronoun I to create an innocent, childlike tone. Another technique employed to create
this atmosphere is Deane s utilisation of simple adjectives such as redness , glossy , shiny , fright and
huge when describing objects. This limited vocabulary illustrates the youth of the narrator, extending
this idea of innocence.
This idea of innocence feeds into a major theme of the extract, the narrator s inability to grapple with
the illness and impending death of his sister. Deane illustrates this effectively through the narrator s
location within the scene. He has taken refuge under the table, hidden by a

Sandy Hook Shootings
A group of angry and worried moms petition together the following day of the Sandy Elementary

members of congress. Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America wanted more focus on
background checks on those who wanted to acquire guns within the United States. An alluring
illustration by the campaign is born. The ad that catches the eye depicts a banned children s book. Two
girls are side by side in a library flooded with shelves of books. On the right side stands an American
flag, and on the right sits an old rocking chair. The main focus is on the two little girls sitting side by
side cross legged. The girls are total opposites. The girl sitting on the right beside the rocking chair is
a short haired brunette holding an Assault weapon half her size. On the left besides the American flag,
an African American girl is holding a children s book, Little Red Riding Hood. The ad asks the

Cases of Federalism
McCulloch VS Maryland (1819)
In 1816, the state of Maryland enacted a tax that would force the United States Bank in Maryland to
pay taxes to the state. James W. McCulloch, a cashier for the Baltimore, Maryland Bank, was sued for
not complying with the Maryland state tax. McCulloch was sued for violating this Act. McCulloch
admitted he was not complying with the Maryland law. McCulloch lost in the Baltimore County Court
and that court s decision was affirmed by the Maryland Court of Appeals. The case was then taken by
writ of error to the United States Supreme Court (Supreme Court). In 1818, the state of Maryland
passed legislation to impose taxes on the bank. McCulloch was convicted and fined, but he appealed

Role Played by Scarcity of Resources in a Given Historical...
What is the role played by scarcity of resources in a given historical period? By the standards of the
last decade of the 19th century, the question of scarcity of water whether purposed for agricultural
irrigation, bourgeois refinements like bathtubs, social and religious obligations like Christian baptism
or Mormon proxy baptism of the dead, and indeed as a beverage that even Temperance crusaders like
Mrs Rutherford B Hayes could approve seemed like a necessity for settling of arid regions, and the
extension of American society into thitherto unpopulated regions of the North American continent. To
contextualize this issue of resource scarcity, imagine a man of the 1890s (William E. Smythe, perhaps)
given access to a time machine: Smythe would likely find the early 21st century American reliance on
fossil fuels and electricity to be bizarre. To suggest to Smythe that scarcity of electricity would be a
sufficient cause for large scale political action (as it was when California Governor Gray Davis was
recalled in the wake of rolling brownouts and Enron engineered fluctuations in the state s electricity
supply) or that scarcity of petroleum and natural gas would be a sufficient cause for American
occupation of far flung regions like Iraq or Afghanistan would be almost inexplicable in terms of
American economic and social organization in 1890 or 1895. This is not because the 1890s were
immune to political machination based on resources in Smythe s own decade, a mining

Garibooli s Belonging In Home By Larissa Behrendt
Home written by Larissa Behrendt is a fictional account that portrays the experiences the Aboriginals
coped with in early Australian history. The novel follows the experiences of an aboriginal woman
named Garibooli and shows the repercussions of her life and how it effects those around her. The
novel explores a multitude of effects that a single event can have on an individual and the generations
to follow. Some of these effects include, grief, loss and the sense of belonging. Belonging is personal
and everyone deserves to belong and due to Garibooli and her children being of aboriginal descendant
in a predominately white society, they have difficulty finding their sense of belonging.

mistake he is making by trying to fit in with the new culture instead of accepting who he is. And
maybe it was Bob s own aversion to his black heritage, the wish that he was something other than
Aboriginal that could not release him from his nightmare. (296) The non indigenous culture that Bob
has grown up in has damaged his sense of identity and belonging due to the lack of Aboriginality,

The Effect Of Digital Analog Audio Signal Processing
Abstract
As technology advances, the research of digital signal processing is undergoing rapid development. At
present, it has been used in many fields such as communications industry, voice and acoustics
applications, radar and image. The processing of the speech signal is one of the key areas of DSP
application. So far, it has formed a number of research directions, such as speech analysis, speech
enhancement, speech recognition, voice communication, etc..
With the development of IT technology and voice processing technology, people have more and more
high quality requirements of audio. However, the traditional analog audio signal processing has been
impossible to meet people s needs, at this time, digital signal processing began to ... Show more

In this case, this paper designs and implements an audio signal acquisition and processing system
which based on DSP technology.
In the processing of the audio signal, it needs to go to the digital filter. Digital filter is a numerical
system which used to filter the time discrete signal. According to the time domain characteristics of
unit impulse response function, it can be divided into two kinds of filter, infinite impulse response
(IIR) filter and finite impulse response (FIR) filter. Compared with the IIR filter, the FIR filter has just
one zero point, and has no pole in the z plane except the origin, so it is always stable and can be easily
realized. Even more important, the strict linear phase property can be obtained by the FIR filter, which
is difficult to achieve by the IIR filter, so it is widely used in the field of high fidelity signal
processing, such as digital audio, image processing, data transmission, biomedical and other fields.
This project is about using DSP technology and digital filter to build a music instrument which can do
sound signal acquisition and processing. At last, the suggestion and prospect of how to improve the
system will be put forward.
Key word: DSP, Audio signal processing, FIR filter

A Marxist Approach On Social Classes
stratification is brought forth by Domhoff and it supports the idea that social classes themselves have
hierarchical layers determined status, power, and prestige. The critiques would most likely support the
idea of pluralism and that each group is represented in political institutions, but that s just not the case
in practical manners. A Marxist approach would argue that power is never not socially organized. The
reason why power matters is that power by Marxist definition, is the ability to force someone to
complete any action that goes against their best wishes and/or free will. Marx would also argue that
the state is not neutral, like the pluralists believe, but rather the state represents the elite s class
interest. Marx would also argue that the elitist seek to preserve themselves within the governmental
structure. Basically, Marx doesn t support that the government is neutral and that pluralist are correct.
His theories align with the Power Elite Theory by Wright Mills, but Marx would follow up solutions
to wealth inequality with a change in the state s systematic role or roles in society.

An Explication Of Sylvia Plath s Daddy
Sylvia Plath is a passionate poet, and her poem Daddy shows a broad range of emotions. She likes to
use her writing to let out all her delicate feelings and expresses how she feels in her poem Daddy. This
particular poem of hers is somewhat dark and leaves the person who reads this with a sense of
hopelessness and misery, the reader questions why the writer feels this way. The speaker of Sylvia
Plath s poem Daddy depicts that she both loves and dislikes her father.
By reading this poem, you can undertake that she is speaking about her affiliation with her father, for
the reason that the title states it. Her raw emotions of unhappiness and fury that are in this poem
portray this assumption pretty well. By interpreting this poem her father was a German refugee and

The poem also expresses diverse emotions such as anger, grief, depression, and some distress. There
are several imageries of oppression in her poem Daddy of Nazis, swastikas, barbed wires, fascists,
brutes, devils, and vampires are so frantic, imposing, and vituperative that the poem seems more out
of control that it truly is. (http://web.b.ebscohost.com.ezp.tccd.edu) In Plath s poem, it is clear that
these characteristics are fantasies, not for the ultimate and distinct purpose that they arise inside a text,
but because the sonnet addresses the production of imaginary as such. In this sense, I read Daddy as a
poem about its conditions of language and illusion production. Rather than casually produce
identification, it asks a question about identification, laying out one set of unbearable psychic
conditions under which such an identification with the Jew might take place.

Why Is Oklahoma City Bombing Wrong
Oklahoma City Bombing The Oklahoma City bombing was the deadliest Terrorist attack event in the
history of the United States (Andryszewski). It was just a normal day at the Alfred P. Murrah Federal
Building , nothing really interesting was going on. Then out of the blue, the building just explodes
killing, injuring, and separating people from their families. . Because Timothy McVeigh was upset
with the government, ( Andryszewski, Tricia Homegrown Terrorism) he decided he d do what he
thought was best for the United States. Clearly what he did made the United States worse. (

If he didn t then McVeigh would be on his own and it s hard to bomb something and escape in time to

and that a worldwide racial holy war is imminent. So they were technically at war with the
government. So Mcveigh couldn t really set the bomb off without Nichols unless he was very skillful,
there was no way he d be able to plant that bomb all by himself and get out of there before it went off.
Nichols was arrested for his questioning and was charged with helping set the bomb off. Both him and
McVeigh pleaded not guilty in the trial. McVeigh thought it would be good for the America s if he
killed all men women and children, he could ve walked in and shot them. ( LaDoux) This was a very
devastating event and no one would ever want to relive it, it was terrible. Lot s of people were hurt,
and hurt bad enough that they were getting legs cut off, kids were losing parents, and it s hard as a kid
to lose both of your parents. Or if your parent lost a leg, then it would be hard for them to play with

Vitamin A and Multiple Scolorosis
Vitamin A and Multiple Sclerosis
There is countless research that widely associates vitamin D and vitamin A in possibly decreasing
adverse effects of multiple sclerosis (MS). Although, vitamin A is not as popular in research as
vitamin D it has shown in certain trials to be beneficial to patients suffering from MS, but more
commonly there is a positive link to vitamin A in animal trials of treating experimental autoimmune
encephalitis (EAE) the animal version of MS, . Vitamin A is a fat soluble vitamin that can function in
immunological responses as well as brain development. This vitamin is crucial for vision, gene

The results of the double blind randomized trial showed that there was no significant difference in
those taking vitamin A from the placebo group, since values in lipid profiles and fasting profiles did
not provide any justifiable evidence in vitamin A being beneficial in MS. However, one surprising
result came from the CRP values, or the inflammation marker, by showing an increase in the vitamin
A group in comparison to the placebo group. Although, the increase was still in the normal range it
was still an unexpected outcome from the study. Even though vitamin A s effect on Th1 and Th2 cells
had the possibility of improving effects of MS, the trial concluded that there was no clinical evidence
to vitamin A s role in minimizing the harmful effects of MS (2).
A prospective study was conducted by the Nurses Health Study, which tested vitamin A intake in the

Daoism In Vietnam
It is believed by many scholars that Daoism (Đạo giáo Việt Nam), along with Confucianism (Nho
giáo), was first introduced to Vietnam during the first wave of Chinese domination, which took place
in 111 BCE when the Han Dynasty of China began to expand its empire southward to include northern
Vietnam and a sizable portion of what are now the Guangxi and Guangdong Provinces in China. This
was known as the Northern Domination, or Bắc thuộc. During this time, the Chinese language,
culture, art, music, architecture, educational and political institutions, and philosophy and religion,
such as Confucianism and Daoism, into Vietnam. In regard to Buddhism (đạo Phật or Phật giáo), it
has been debated on whether Buddhism (mainly the Mahayana tradition) was first introduced to
Vietnam via Indian or Chinese delegations as early as the 3rd or 2nd century; which has been
considered to be part of the Classical Era. These elements have been absorbed into and influenced the
Vietnamese folk religions, such as Caodaism (Đạo Cao Đài) and Dao Mu (Đạo Mẫu). Daoism in
Vietnam acts like the glue that binds together the elements of the aforementioned three religions and
these elements play a key role in the religion of the Southeast Asian country today. Vietnamese ...

How Has Led Zeppelin Changed Society
Led Zeppelin was created when the band Yardbirds, a previous band that Jimmy Page played in,
disbanded. Page, the lead guitarist, found Robert Plant and John Bonham and created a new band
which would be called the New Yardbirds; they would later adopt the name Led Zeppelin. The main
goal they wanted to achieve was to emphasize the guitar, which they accomplished Plant, the singer,
had a peculiar voice, raspy with many vocal ranges that he did not know when to hold back his voice.
Not only was he capable of jaw dropping power and velocity, but he also deftly incorporated evocative
percussion elements which added texture and shading. (Led Zeppelin). The drummer, John Bonham,
was a fast drummer who kept perfect time. Led Zeppelin effected music in multiple ways, such as
changing the idea of rock music by creating a blueprint for heavy metal music and by influencing the
styles of many people. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995 (Led

Abortion In Canada
Abortion, one of the biggest controversies of all time, has been argued more heavily over the recent
past decades. In developed nations, cajoled abortions are the safest form of medical procedures; if it is
regulated law. Although, the silence is deafening as to when statistics are released on the rate of
abortions. Annually, as the abortion statistics are released there s been criticism in the mainstream
media. More than 40 percent of women confirm they have aborted a pregnancy at least once in their
life. Although millions of abortion have been performed since January 28, 1988 in Canada, the debate
over whether it should have been legalized is argued vigorously by many Canadians, as well as people

Pro life although, support the idea that every child has a right to live, even if the mother is not

children would be underprivileged and could potentially die from the circumstances they d be forced

come to a stand to where they are on the spectrum on this subject. Norma McCorvey, known as Jane
Roe, was a Texas local who needed to obtain an abortion. The Texas law prohibited abortions except
to save the pregnant mother s life. She had soon had given birth but only to give up the baby for
adoption. Ever since she has come forward and changed sides on the abortion debate. As she filed her
case to the U.S. Supreme Court, she received support from many women and of course, displeasure
from others. In 1973, the landmark decision had been made that abortion would be legal in the U.S but
may be restricted by the states to varying degrees under the Fourteenth amendment to the
Constitution. Pro choice defends and protects the people, it is ultimately the woman s life that would

Women have the right to their own body just as the same as people have to make their own decisions.
If the government controls women s choices on abortion, before you know it, the government will
control other personal decisions that people make; like getting plastic surgery, how much they weigh,

The Necessity Of Careful Environmental Scanning Essay
Every successful organization uses the five management functions; but not many can compare with
the United States Armed Forces. I am currently serving in the United States Air Force and this
organization has effectively applied the five management functions, because its existence depends on
those five functions. From the initial planning to the final execution steps, we perform all five
functions in our day to day operations in flawless manners and pride ourselves in the job well done.
The Air Force is constantly engaging in the five management functions; their operations are well led,
organized, carefully planned, staffed, and constantly evaluated. I do not believe there is any
organization other than the military where you would see these five functions linking so well
coordinated. Planning
Planning is a systematic process in which managers make decisions about future activities and the key
goals that the organization will pursue. The necessity of careful environmental scanning has an
immediate impact on planning processes (Reilly, Minnick, and Baack, 2011, sec. 7.2). Making plans
for future activities is one of the Air Force s key functions; without planning its subordinate
commands would deteriorate and lose focus on mission objectives and the quality of work. In the Air
Force each career field has a different method for planning depending on the mission. I find the
planning phase in the Air Force to be very effective because it is important for employees or

Parsons, a functionalist sociologist puts forward many views and theories. A theory of which struck

since I didn t really have a lot of knowledge as to who discovered DNA besides what the biology book

each conference Watson would report his findings to Crick and use that in their advantage. This is one
of the things that made them extremely successful were as Rosalind and Maurice would share their

Color Symbolism In The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald
The Great Gatsby The Great Gatsby is one of the greatest novels ever written. It is best remembered
and spoken about for it s color symbolism. The main reason to why color symbolism is a studied topic
in this novel is because the writer was also a painter. F.Scott Fitzgerald uses the colors gray, blue and
yellow to symbolize hopelessness, loneliness, and new money throughout the novel. Fitzgerald uses
the color gray to give the reader a darkened negative visual of what was occurring in the novel.
Occasionally a line of gray cars crawls along an invisible track, gives out a ghastly creak, and comes
to rest... . In this passage, the color gray in the novel leaves the reader with a dark and empty vibe and

Gulliver explains the idea of war to the Master Houyhnhnm, and it is hard form him to understand the
significance of it and why it would ever be needed. This idea can be shown in the following quotation:
The Houyhnhnms, indeed, appear not to be so well prepared for war, a science to which they are
perfect strangers, and especially against missive weapons, (236). Gulliver tries to justify the causes of
war and attempts to explain this idea to the Houyhnhnms, who can not grasp the concept of why such

The External Competitive Environment at Lenova
Introduction
The proper planning and execution of strategy is crucial for any company to develop, especially when
the industry is extremely competitive or volatile. Industry evolution brings change in sources and
nature of competition (Porter 1979). This essay will analyse the external competitive environment and
critically evaluate the strategies employed by Lenovo, a Chinese technological corporation, in dealing
with the overall declining trend of the PC (personal computer) market.
Case study overview
Recent years saw the worldwide PC market growth rate undergoing a drastic plummet (Arthur 2013).
The latest statistics from market research firm Gartner, showed an 8.6 percent decline in PC sales in
the third quarter of 2013, with shipments dipping for sixth consecutive quarters (Hachman 2013). This
trend underscored challenges confronting PC manufacturers as customers favour mobile devices such
as tablet computers and smartphones.
After suffering a US$226 million loss in 2008, Lenovo attempted to improve its profitability through
innovation and efficiency by initiating the Protect and Attack strategy in 2009, which aimed to guard
its core PC business and strived to compete in emerging markets with high levels of growth (Lenovo
2010). In response to the recent decline in PC sales, Lenovo placed emphasis in executing the Protect
and Attack strategy by evolving and innovating its product portfolio, conducting strategic acquisitions
and implementing novel marketing schemes.

Should Victorian High Schools Repeal Vce Exams
Should Victorian High Schools Repeal VCE Exams
I m sure every student here today would agree that not having to take VCE exams is a pretty good
idea. Repealing VCE exams would be a radical change for any high school. Acknowledgement from
your teacher that you already know the material instead of proving that you know how to take a test.
High school students face a stressful and strenuous time and are challenged by the vigorous
preparation for VCE exams. The do or die VCE exams students face is a crisis time for them, instead
of thinking about their graduation. Expecting students to take these exams is unfair due to its
numerous reasons of unfairness and should not take place. The Victorian school board should repeal
these exams.
Students do not learn in the same way, they are individuals. Thankfully for society, students bring to
schools all kinds of intellect. Some students excel academically, others are artistic talents and others
have vocational talents that VCE exams do not take into consideration or measure.
The focus of my arguments for repealing VCE exams is that:
Necessary funding for schools consistently rears its ugly head and these exams prove to be very
expensive. I believe, very much a waste of money. The money could be better spent on school
materials like books, computers, and other necessary supplies. The allocated funding could also be
well spent on hiring more teachers, so that classes could be smaller and students receive more

Compare And Contrast World War Two Experiments
Prisoners of War have been tortured in many ways. Like, how the Japanese used to experiment on
Chinese and Koreans. During World War II, prisoners of war have been tortured, and experimented

During World War II, Prisoners of War were tortured by many different ways, just like how the boys in
Lord of the Flies were tortured by their own captivity while on the island. Prisoners of war (POW)
were experimented in many different ways. One way they have been experimented was when the
Japanese tested out biological weapons on multiple prisoners of war. Most of the individual used for
the experiments were Chinese and Korean. (histclo,1). This shows that prisoners of war were being
experimented on and how they were being experimented during World Ward II. This connects to Lord

Selecting The Female Reproductive System Essay
Selecting the female reproductive system to present was slightly awkward with me being a male. In
addition to having to have a presentation in a public forum having to provide visual aids of the female
reproductive system to my fellow classmates. I didn t look forward to that at all. With that being said,
I moved forward with my research on the pathologies of the female reproductive system. I did not take
long at all to recognize some familiar terminology related to the pathological anomalies of the female
reproductive system that I was familiar with. Pathological terminology such as Fibroids (tissue
overgrowth) and Endometriosis (pain in the uterine lining). I had a few people close to me who have
suffered from complications of those pathological disorders which led to the loss of pregnancy. At
different moments in our life at one time or another will have someone close to us experiencing some
issues of the female reproductive system. Having the knowledge of the causes, symptoms,
complications and treatments will enable us to not only understand what they are going through but
with that knowledge we can comfort them as well. Having a working knowledge of the female

Sigmund Freud And Psychoanalysis
Sigmund Freud contributed more to the modern psychological research landscape than any of his
contemporaries. Throughout his career he created one of the first empirically based methods of
understanding the human psyche. These methods are often summarized under the term Psychoanalysis
and it is defined by a series of theories which connect the human experience to human behaviors and
motivations. These theories consist of development analyses based around psychological,

A societal participant must display a sense of morality; or the ability to determine right from wrong.
The moral compass was a result of a humans Superego according to Freud. The superego was believed
to develop later on after the Ego, which was in turn developed just after birth. The superego allows for
a higher level understanding of human relations; and creates motivations to care for other humans
beyond a direct benefit to ones self. A parallel development to the ID Ego Superego process is the
psychosexual stages of human consciousness. These stages develop over the first few years a child s
life; and Freud believed they were the primary component of sexual development in the psyche. From
birth to 18 months a child experiences the oral stage of psychosexuality; this time period finds the
child focused on the erogenous zone of the mouth. Exploration comes in the form of eating or sucking
on things; and the brain builds a relationship between these actions and pleasure. This stage can carry
extreme significance and Freud believed that events like withheld food can severely impact the child s
sense of trust as an adult. After the 18 month period

activity and healthy diets. School lunches need to have nutritional value and a well balanced nutrition
scale including fruits, grains, vegetables, protein and dairy. Recess enhances health and academic
benefits. Recess involves more than just stimulating indoor activities, but also simply thirty minutes of
exercise outside. Moreover, the healthy lifestyle needs promotion by an authoritative figure or
institution. Many students rely on teachers, principals, nurses, etc. to teach them the essentials of
health because parents may lack the knowledge to do so.
In a school setting, health promotion entails providing students with educational courses, activities,
school lunches, and recess. All of these factors contribute immensely to the balance of a student s life.
Control must be given to the student to allow them to improve their health and cause a rise in
awareness. The purpose of this study evaluates the methods that public and private middle schools in
the Athens metro area distribute

perspective. A 19 item questionnaire was used to survey employees attitudes regarding safety relevant
aspects of the perioperative period, work processes, and quality of inter professional cooperation
before and 3 months after the implementation of a Surgical Safety Checklist .
The results of this study showed that after the introduction of the checklist, the criteria for evaluating

This section makes it very clear that the purpose of this article is to evaluate perioperative safety
standards and the quality of inter professional cooperation before and after the implementation of a
safety checklist.
Abstract
The abstract clearly and effectively summarizes the research report. It was logically organized into a
background, methods, results, and conclusion section and was very useful in helping me decide
whether or not this article would be useful in answering my clinical question. This section clearly
identifies that the population being studied is the operating room staff which is relevant to my research
question.
Introduction (including literature review/use of previous research)
The report does include an introduction section although it is not clearly identified with a bold
heading. I do think that this section discusses aspects of my clinical question. This section clearly
states the relevance of the research question and its importance in nursing. The majority of the
literature cited is current relative to the publication date of the article and contributes to the
understanding of the research question.
This section presents the idea that the implementation of the Surgical Safety Checklist , which was
promoted by the World Health Organization (WHO), caused a significant decline in the occurrence of

The Y2k Catastrophe And Its Effects On Society
The Y2K Catastrophe
In The midst of a rising industrial climate, the 1990s was a time for change and expansion. On
December thirty first, 1999 nearly every developed nation in the world anticipated the oncoming new
millennium. After strike of midnight, January first, 2000 a forecasted event would take place, and
many in the world were anxious to comprehend the supposed inevitable. The occurrence of the Y2K
scare changed the way the world revolves around technology during the time period, which has lasting
residual effects on society.
The fear that drove society and a complete farce was the idea that everything on which the modern
world relied would simply come to a halt at the turn of the century. This contemporary concern of the
time over technology caused an alarming dissonance between people s daily realities and the threat of
an impending apocalyptic future.
At the height of computer development, for convenience purposes, digital programmers used two digit
codes in place of the years. For example, instead of writing 1986, computer engineers simply dated
programs with 86, the 19 was left out purposefully. Engineers compressed data usage to save storage,
which at the time was very costly and took up unnecessary space. Eventually these programmers
realized that once the year 2000 comes around then, the dates would revert to 00 which computers will
assume to be 1900. A simple date change to humans would equal a major blunder to a computer. This
glitch held the

Baroque Er The Baroque Period
The Baroque period spanned from 1600 to 1750. It was a time where new ideas were discovered and
original boundaries were broken to reveal completely different aspects to architecture. Seen as an
artistic style, Baroque was a powerful period, full of flamboyant concepts, derived to create drama.
The Baroque period produced many magnificent buildings, every one extremely detailed.
The catholic church started the Baroque movement through their bid to reclaim their crowd. The
church attempted to do this through the use of art, in the hope that it would attract people, often done
through detailed buildings, but also through the use of dramatic sculptures and paintings.
The Baroque period is full of compelling new ides; architects began to experiment with their buildings
in many ways, one of which was their ability to theoretically captivate spaces through the movement
of the facade, becoming the first movement to not build the buildings right along the boundary of the
plot.
Another futuristic technique used by the baroque was publicly display the buildings staircases as a key
element of a building. Previous styles tended to conceal the staircases, Baroque decided to use the
movement between stories of a building as a feature element; not only did they display them, they
brought them to the fore front of buildings to create a powerful statement.
Buildings built in the movement were symmetrical, this was a continued trait from the renaissance
period. In addition to this, the

Marcovina, Trevor J. Orchard, George A. Bray, David S. Schade, Marinella G. Temprosa, Neil H.
White, Jill P. Crandall, and the Diabetes Prevention Program Research Group
OBJECTIVE
The purpose of this study was to assess the risks involved in B12 deficiency because of the long term
use of Metformin in diabetes prevention.
BACKGROUND
Vitamin B12 (also known as Cyanocobalamin and Cobalamin) is one of eight B vitamins. Commonly,
all B vitamins help in the conversion of carbohydrates to glucose, producing energy. Vitamin B12
main role is in maintaining healthy nerve cells and aids in the body s DNA replication. Also, it works
closely with other vitamins such as B6 and B9 (also known as Folate/Folic Acid) to help make red
blood cells and increase iron s efficacy in the body, create adenosylmethionine (SAMe) that is
involved in immune and mood function, and control blood levels of the amino acid homocysteine.
High levels of homocysteine are associated with heart disease. Overall, it is found that low levels of
vitamin B12 can cause fatigue, shortness of breath, diarrhea, numbness, peripheral neuropathy (in
severe cases), anemia, and age related macular degeneration.1
It is believed that Metformin interferes with vitamin B 12 Intrinsic Factor Complex. Metformin is an
oral biguanide antidiabetic agent that aids

Nina Petrova Personality
Nina Petrova was born in Basmanny Russia in 1997. Daughter of Orlov and Anna Petrova, young
reckless revolutionary insurgents, she grew unloved and uncared for. She lived her first years
surrounded by the most inadequate environment, always traveling from here to there with both her
parents too involved in a coup d etat, always seeking new ways to attack the government of Russia.
Her parents never allowed her to go to school since they despised Russia s educational system like
proper anarchists. Also given that education in Russia is outdated they didn t see any reason to enroll
her in school. They no longer took in mind their daughter s well being but instead only considered
what was best for the revolution they were planning. At the time ... Show more content on

She is highly observant and cautious. She likes to examine the cruelty and compassion of other
people. She is completely drawn by the different obstacles women face in modern society especially in
Russia. She draws connections among the various stigmas she faces as a young woman. And as any
adolescent, she holds petty rebellions and an utter disregard for authority. She has an extremely
powerful personality that draws people towards her. She was once examined by a therapist after been
taken into one of the many foster families she lived with. She was diagnosed as a sociopath with a
slight hint of with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). She may seem fragile or depressive, and
even though it remains concealed by Nina, she aspires to an almost domestic kind of normality. She
tends to develop relationships with unstable and violent men, mostly because she is dangerously
attractive to the boys who surround her, and the dark side of her personality can appear without
warning given she is wildly unpredictable. She develops an apparent confidence in herself and her
actions, but over time, it is revealed that Nina cares little for the consequences of her actions and can

The Collective Societal Memory Of The World War II Essay
Elizabeth Heineman argued in her article that the collective societal memory of the experiences of
German women in the immediate aftermath of World War II greatly contributed to the development of
West German national identity, and directly influenced their eventual status in the partitioned
country.1 She suggested that in order to fully comprehend this history of memories it was necessary to
understand the distinctions and interconnections between what she refereed to as counter , popular ,
and official memories.2 In order to support this argument, the author conducted a series of formulaic
analyses on the German perception toward women in three major areas of Post War German cultural
memory; war rapes by Soviet soldiers; the experiences of women who rebuilt the nation and the
economy without much assistance from men; and finally those women who fraternized with Allied
soldiers. She began her formula by first exploring the universalization of certain aspects of what
became the stereotypical female experience of Germans at the end of World War II through the
immediate post war years.3 Next, she examined the effects of the universalization of the female
German experience upon the formation of the West German national identity.4 This second point was
further elaborated with an analysis of the relationship between counter memories of subordinate
groups and the public or popular memories of the dominant culture, national identity, and culture of
West Germany.5

How Does Lucy Impact The Victorian Era
How long did the Victorian Era last? Queen Victoria of England ruled the throne for over 64 years,
however her impact made the Victorian era last for a 150 year. The Victorian era was most known for
its censorship and proper allegations. For example, men were, theoretically, hard workers and
protectors of the house and family. Subsequently, women tailored to a role that limited their abilities
as a citizen as compared to today, which included household chores and such. Lastly, children were to
be quite and did not spend much time with their mothers and fathers. Due to society s own harsh
expectations of themselves, it impacted other aspects of their lives. This impacted literature and is a
major time when authors had to use more profound ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Renfield, a mental patient at Dr. John Seward s mental asylum, is beaten nearly to death, saying, his
back is broken. See, both his right arm and left and the whole side of his face are paralyzed (Stoker
297). Renfield is mentally ill and would have been ignored or even tormented by others for his illness,
showing Victorianism s harsh ideas towards those who do not fit the perfect idea of a person during
this time. Men were, Expected to be as manly, as virile, strong, and robust, as women were believed to
be fragile... and continues saying fierce competitors at work, lords of their homes, and protectors of
their wives and children (Swisher 75). Renfield in no ways fits this set of beliefs for men during this
era and therefore is killed off because Stoker knows that the Victorian people would have wanted and
approved of this. Not only was Renfield mentally ill, a disability in this society like most, he is also a
vampire and can be associated with the other sexually promiscuous man monsters like the three
vampire seductresses or Count Dracula himself. In summary, Renfield s death conveys the ideas of
Victorianism because they did not like the mentally

Greek Architecture Dbq
The time of the Ancient Greeks is one of the most, if not the most, influential periods since the dawn
of existence. The Ancient Greeks contributed to many of the modern world concepts that are used in
everyday life. The importance of the Ancient Greeks is shown, in some way, scattered through each
and every day. One contribution to the Western civilization from the Ancient Greeks is architecture.
Greek architecture is shown in pillars all throughout the modern world. The most recognizable Greek
architecture is located in the image in document 5: the Parthenon. This image shows that the Greeks
wanted a city to be represented with artistic value not just with the architecture but also with statues.

  • 3. Essay on The American Revolution and the Formation of Bolivia  Introduction The American Revolution did much more than any of our founding fathers had ever imagined, it started a movement that would threaten the very roots of colonialism across the globe. Setting an example of how a David could overcome a Goliath, the United States inspired regions such as Latin America to fight for their rights and liberties as well. One such region that embraced the message was Upper Peru, which would later be known as Bolivia. With some key tipping points that caused the war, the leaders of the soon to be formed nation rallied its troops and won several major battles, but even they couldn t prevent the tough times that lay in the early years of the nation. From the year 1809, Upper Peru was engaged in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Simon Bolivar, who had a reputation of being a liberator, took center stage. The common folk began to trust his words, as he talked about fighting for the resources that were theirs, ideals taken directly from the American Revolution itself. Also with the power struggle created by the Napoleonic wars, uprisings began. The most prominent of this movement was the uprising in Chuquisaca in 1809, which led to the formation of the Government Juntas. This group focused on taking the power from the Spanish and giving it to the people. Seeing the movement in Bolivia take shape, Latin Nations such as Peru began to provide military support to Bolivian liberators. Surprisingly, America didn t live up to its reputation, having no negative impact on this revolution. Normally, America had been notorious for backing up the dictators or colonial powers and suppressing the Latin liberators. All in all, the combination of a power struggle brought upon by foreign wars, introduction of revolutionary independence ideals, proper leadership, and foreign aid, the Bolivian revolution was successful in liberating the nation from Spanish Colonial power after 16 years of conflict.  Leaders o Simon Bolivar ( July 24th, 1783 Dec 17th, 1830) Simón José Antonio de la Santísima Trinidad Bolívar, or more commonly known as Simon Bolivar The Liberator, was born in Caracas, Venezuela (Lynch, 2007, p.25). • 6. Feet By Seamus Deane Summary Feet, September 1948 from Reading in the Dark (1996) by Seamus Deane Feet , an extract from Reading in the Dark by Seamus Deane, depicts the death of a young girl, Una, from the perspective of her unnamed older brother. It focuses upon the narrator s observations, of both his sister and the adults around him, as well as the emotions and reactions of the narrator. Throughout the extract, Deane crafts an atmosphere of intimacy, and innocence, through his word choice and use of perspective. By choosing to write from the first person perspective, Deane allows the reader to feel more connected with the narrator s thoughts and feelings, as the emotions being depicted are raw and unfiltered, amplifying their emotional impact upon the reader. Furthermore, the first person narrative allows Deane to modify his diction for effect, simplifying it through his repetition of the pronoun I to create an innocent, childlike tone. Another technique employed to create this atmosphere is Deane s utilisation of simple adjectives such as redness , glossy , shiny , fright and huge when describing objects. This limited vocabulary illustrates the youth of the narrator, extending this idea of innocence. This idea of innocence feeds into a major theme of the extract, the narrator s inability to grapple with the illness and impending death of his sister. Deane illustrates this effectively through the narrator s location within the scene. He has taken refuge under the table, hidden by a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Role Played by Scarcity of Resources in a Given Historical... What is the role played by scarcity of resources in a given historical period? By the standards of the last decade of the 19th century, the question of scarcity of water whether purposed for agricultural irrigation, bourgeois refinements like bathtubs, social and religious obligations like Christian baptism or Mormon proxy baptism of the dead, and indeed as a beverage that even Temperance crusaders like Mrs Rutherford B Hayes could approve seemed like a necessity for settling of arid regions, and the extension of American society into thitherto unpopulated regions of the North American continent. To contextualize this issue of resource scarcity, imagine a man of the 1890s (William E. Smythe, perhaps) given access to a time machine: Smythe would likely find the early 21st century American reliance on fossil fuels and electricity to be bizarre. To suggest to Smythe that scarcity of electricity would be a sufficient cause for large scale political action (as it was when California Governor Gray Davis was recalled in the wake of rolling brownouts and Enron engineered fluctuations in the state s electricity supply) or that scarcity of petroleum and natural gas would be a sufficient cause for American occupation of far flung regions like Iraq or Afghanistan would be almost inexplicable in terms of American economic and social organization in 1890 or 1895. This is not because the 1890s were immune to political machination based on resources in Smythe s own decade, a mining ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At present, it has been used in many fields such as communications industry, voice and acoustics applications, radar and image. The processing of the speech signal is one of the key areas of DSP application. So far, it has formed a number of research directions, such as speech analysis, speech enhancement, speech recognition, voice communication, etc.. In this case, this paper designs and implements an audio signal acquisition and processing system which based on DSP technology. In the processing of the audio signal, it needs to go to the digital filter. Digital filter is a numerical system which used to filter the time discrete signal. According to the time domain characteristics of unit impulse response function, it can be divided into two kinds of filter, infinite impulse response (IIR) filter and finite impulse response (FIR) filter. Compared with the IIR filter, the FIR filter has just one zero point, and has no pole in the z plane except the origin, so it is always stable and can be easily realized. Even more important, the strict linear phase property can be obtained by the FIR filter, which is difficult to achieve by the IIR filter, so it is widely used in the field of high fidelity signal processing, such as digital audio, image processing, data transmission, biomedical and other fields. This project is about using DSP technology and digital filter to build a music instrument which can do sound signal acquisition and processing. At last, the suggestion and prospect of how to improve the system will be put forward. • 14. A Marxist Approach On Social Classes stratification is brought forth by Domhoff and it supports the idea that social classes themselves have hierarchical layers determined status, power, and prestige. The critiques would most likely support the idea of pluralism and that each group is represented in political institutions, but that s just not the case in practical manners. A Marxist approach would argue that power is never not socially organized. The reason why power matters is that power by Marxist definition, is the ability to force someone to complete any action that goes against their best wishes and/or free will. Marx would also argue that the state is not neutral, like the pluralists believe, but rather the state represents the elite s class interest. Marx would also argue that the elitist seek to preserve themselves within the governmental structure. Basically, Marx doesn t support that the government is neutral and that pluralist are correct. His theories align with the Power Elite Theory by Wright Mills, but Marx would follow up solutions to wealth inequality with a change in the state s systematic role or roles in society. The speaker of Sylvia Plath s poem Daddy depicts that she both loves and dislikes her father. The results of the double blind randomized trial showed that there was no significant difference in those taking vitamin A from the placebo group, since values in lipid profiles and fasting profiles did not provide any justifiable evidence in vitamin A being beneficial in MS. However, one surprising result came from the CRP values, or the inflammation marker, by showing an increase in the vitamin A group in comparison to the placebo group. Although, the increase was still in the normal range it was still an unexpected outcome from the study. Even though vitamin A s effect on Th1 and Th2 cells had the possibility of improving effects of MS, the trial concluded that there was no clinical evidence to vitamin A s role in minimizing the harmful effects of MS (2). A prospective study was conducted by the Nurses Health Study, which tested vitamin A intake in the risk of women. The results proved no support for dietary carotenoids such as alpha carotene or beta carotene in lowering the risk of MS in women (7). Even though this was one of the few large scale studies comprising of 81, 683 women inspected throughout 12 years (7) the scientific data proved no association to a beneficial role of vitamin A intake to MS risk in women. A societal participant must display a sense of morality; or the ability to determine right from wrong. The moral compass was a result of a humans Superego according to Freud. The superego was believed to develop later on after the Ego, which was in turn developed just after birth. The superego allows for a higher level understanding of human relations; and creates motivations to care for other humans beyond a direct benefit to ones self. A parallel development to the ID Ego Superego process is the psychosexual stages of human consciousness. These stages develop over the first few years a child s life; and Freud believed they were the primary component of sexual development in the psyche. From birth to 18 months a child experiences the oral stage of psychosexuality; this time period finds the child focused on the erogenous zone of the mouth. Exploration comes in the form of eating or sucking on things; and the brain builds a relationship between these actions and pleasure. This stage can carry extreme significance and Freud believed that events like withheld food can severely impact the child s sense of trust as an adult. After the 18 month period ... • 40. Different Aspects Of School Involvement Towards Health And... Different aspects of school involvement towards health and wellness has long been thought to influence students. Research argues that health promoting lifestyle activities maintain or improve individual s health and wellness (reference). Researchers suggest that health promotion includes a process of empowerment of the community to act on the improvement of their life and health qualities (research) A closer look into a healthy lifestyle begins at childhood. Healthy lunches promote physical activity and healthy diets. School lunches need to have nutritional value and a well balanced nutrition scale including fruits, grains, vegetables, protein and dairy. Recess enhances health and academic benefits. Recess involves more than just stimulating indoor activities, but also simply thirty minutes of exercise outside. Moreover, the healthy lifestyle needs promotion by an authoritative figure or institution. Many students rely on teachers, principals, nurses, etc. to teach them the essentials of health because parents may lack the knowledge to do so. In a school setting, health promotion entails providing students with educational courses, activities, school lunches, and recess. All of these factors contribute immensely to the balance of a student s life. Control must be given to the student to allow them to improve their health and cause a rise in awareness. • 42. The Y2k Catastrophe And Its Effects On Society The Y2K Catastrophe In The midst of a rising industrial climate, the 1990s was a time for change and expansion. On December thirty first, 1999 nearly every developed nation in the world anticipated the oncoming new millennium. After strike of midnight, January first, 2000 a forecasted event would take place, and many in the world were anxious to comprehend the supposed inevitable. The occurrence of the Y2K scare changed the way the world revolves around technology during the time period, which has lasting residual effects on society. The fear that drove society and a complete farce was the idea that everything on which the modern world relied would simply come to a halt at the turn of the century. This contemporary concern of the time over technology caused an alarming dissonance between people s daily realities and the threat of an impending apocalyptic future. At the height of computer development, for convenience purposes, digital programmers used two digit codes in place of the years. For example, instead of writing 1986, computer engineers simply dated programs with 86, the 19 was left out purposefully. Engineers compressed data usage to save storage, which at the time was very costly and took up unnecessary space. Eventually these programmers realized that once the year 2000 comes around then, the dates would revert to 00 which computers will assume to be 1900. A simple date change to humans would equal a major blunder to a computer. This glitch held the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Baroque Er The Baroque Period The Baroque period spanned from 1600 to 1750. It was a time where new ideas were discovered and original boundaries were broken to reveal completely different aspects to architecture. Seen as an artistic style, Baroque was a powerful period, full of flamboyant concepts, derived to create drama. The Baroque period produced many magnificent buildings, every one extremely detailed. The catholic church started the Baroque movement through their bid to reclaim their crowd. The church attempted to do this through the use of art, in the hope that it would attract people, often done through detailed buildings, but also through the use of dramatic sculptures and paintings. The Baroque period is full of compelling new ides; architects began to experiment with their buildings in many ways, one of which was their ability to theoretically captivate spaces through the movement of the facade, becoming the first movement to not build the buildings right along the boundary of the plot. Another futuristic technique used by the baroque was publicly display the buildings staircases as a key element of a building. Previous styles tended to conceal the staircases, Baroque decided to use the movement between stories of a building as a feature element; not only did they display them, they brought them to the fore front of buildings to create a powerful statement. Buildings built in the movement were symmetrical, this was a continued trait from the renaissance period. In addition to this, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Crandall, and the Diabetes Prevention Program Research Group OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to assess the risks involved in B12 deficiency because of the long term use of Metformin in diabetes prevention. BACKGROUND Vitamin B12 (also known as Cyanocobalamin and Cobalamin) is one of eight B vitamins. Commonly, all B vitamins help in the conversion of carbohydrates to glucose, producing energy. Vitamin B12 main role is in maintaining healthy nerve cells and aids in the body s DNA replication. Also, it works closely with other vitamins such as B6 and B9 (also known as Folate/Folic Acid) to help make red blood cells and increase iron s efficacy in the body, create adenosylmethionine (SAMe) that is involved in immune and mood function, and control blood levels of the amino acid homocysteine. High levels of homocysteine are associated with heart disease. Overall, it is found that low levels of vitamin B12 can cause fatigue, shortness of breath, diarrhea, numbness, peripheral neuropathy (in severe cases), anemia, and age related macular degeneration.1 It is believed that Metformin interferes with vitamin B 12 Intrinsic Factor Complex. • 46. The Collective Societal Memory Of The World War II Essay Elizabeth Heineman argued in her article that the collective societal memory of the experiences of German women in the immediate aftermath of World War II greatly contributed to the development of West German national identity, and directly influenced their eventual status in the partitioned country.1 She suggested that in order to fully comprehend this history of memories it was necessary to understand the distinctions and interconnections between what she refereed to as counter , popular , and official memories.2 In order to support this argument, the author conducted a series of formulaic analyses on the German perception toward women in three major areas of Post War German cultural memory; war rapes by Soviet soldiers; the experiences of women who rebuilt the nation and the economy without much assistance from men; and finally those women who fraternized with Allied soldiers. She began her formula by first exploring the universalization of certain aspects of what became the stereotypical female experience of Germans at the end of World War II through the immediate post war years.3 Next, she examined the effects of the universalization of the female German experience upon the formation of the West German national identity.4 This second point was further elaborated with an analysis of the relationship between counter memories of subordinate groups and the public or popular memories of the dominant culture, national identity, and culture of West Germany.5 ...
