Major Argument Essay
Argument essay (Rough Draft)
Thousands of students graduate from high school each year in the United States. As they enter college
a new world of decisions opens up to them. The main one being; how should one choose a major,
based on potential financial gain or based on enjoyment? For the purposes of this paper when
speaking of potential financial gain I am referring to majors that will have some type of base salary of
at least 40k and enjoyment as majors that are in the fine arts. With so many different options at so
many different schools this is undoubtedly one of the most difficult decisions to make due to the fact
that a person s entire future will essentially be on the line. Nonetheless, when choosing a major, the
most rational thing for someone to do is to choose a major with potential financial gain
Now yes there are many people who have found work in their fields when it comes to majors such
involving music, art, and fashion. However, the odds of receiving and opportunity to enter a career in
those fields is very limited and exclusive almost. For instance, in a study conducted by the bureau of
labor statistics it is shown that in 2014 the number of jobs in music industry involving both musicians
and singers was only about 173,300 give or take 6,000 nationwide. With such a limited number ...

Another major which someone might consider out of enjoyment is that of fashion. Now according to
sonaku.com the average salary for a fashion designer is 64k a year and according to lawyer. Edu the
average salary for a criminal lawyer is 78.5k a year. Again, another prime example why choosing a
major based on the financial aspect is superior to choosing a major based on enjoyment

Similarities And Differences Between South Africa And Kenya
1. Introduction
I have selected to compare the laws in South Africa and Kenya. My analysis includes an explanation
of the laws in each country highlighting differences and similarities. I have then explored how these
laws relate to the functions of Strategic Human Resource management. I have noted throughout how
the laws in these countries have an impact on all areas of Strategic Human resource functions of
recruiting and interviewing, performance appraisal and job enrichment, compensation and benefits,
employee development, health and safety and strategic management.
I have proceeded to discuss whether in my opinion the laws in each country favour the employee,
employer or government as well as discussing what the impacts are of the laws on organizational
ability to employ Human Resource Management principles in the ... Show more content on

The wage rates are determined by Wage Councils constituted in accordance with Labour Institutions
Act 2007. The wage councils consist of representation from worker, employee and independent
experts. These members of this council are appointed for a period of three years and are entrusted with
investigating pay and working conditions in any sector and to make recommendations to the Minister
on these matters. Wages are determined for agriculture as well as general sector workers by the
Agricultural and General Wage Councils constituted under the Labour Institutions Act. Based on the
findings of the councils appointed, the minister will then set minimum wage rates. Similar to South
Africa, minimum wages vary by occupational sectors, skill levels and geographical areas. The wage
councils will take various factors into account when determining what the minimum wage should be.
These factors are the needs of the workers, general wage levels of the country as well as the ability of

Comparing Two Superheroes Research Paper
Battle of the Blondes Which is the best superhero? That is a question several people ask and they get
several different answers. There is not a single superhero that is better than the rest, because they all
have diverse abilities and characteristics, which make them unique. Two of my personal favorite
superheroes are Aquaman and Thor. Although they both have similar characteristics they are still
distinctively different from one another. (Thesis Statement) Both Aquaman and Thor come from
divergent households and backgrounds. Aquaman, also known as Arthur Curry, is the son of Atlan and
Atlanna whom ruled over Atlantis. After the tragic death of his parents, Aquaman was evicted and
forced to move to the surface. Where he thought of himself a regular human being. After seeing how
the surface world trashed and polluted the oceans, he returned to Atlantis where he became the rightful
king. Then he swore to protect not only the oceans, but also protect the entire world from devastation.
On the other hand, Thor Odinson is the son of Odin and Gaea. Odin, who is lord of the Asgardian gods
and Gaea is the goddess of the Earth. Thor was born in a magical ... Show more content on

Since Aquaman is the ruler of Atlantis, it makes sense for him to have the ability to communicate with
sea animals. Which helps him with battles and aid him when in need. Not only being able to
communicate with sea animals, but he can also control the ocean currents and waves. He is also an
exceptionally good swimmer and also is able to breathe underwater. However, Thor has the ability to
manipulate lightning with his Mjolnir. Resistance and invulnerability are some other abilities which he
has helped him in a near ground zero nuclear blast. Not only is Thor invulnerable and can also resist
attacks, but he has the power to fly at high velocity. He can fly due to his Mjolnir, which is the source

Predict Sex Is Better Than Postcranial Measurements
predict sex was better than postcranial measurements. Additionally, sexual dimorphic features show
large variation within and between populations (Keen, 1950; Acsádi, and Nemeskeri, 1970; Workshop
of European Anthropologists, 1980; Ubelaker, 1984; Krogman and İşcan, 1986). Some sites on the
skull have shown a wide range within sex variation making them less reliable for sex determination.
For example, a projecting nuchal crest is typically associated with a male skull but can also appear on
a female skull, similarly non projecting nuchal crests, typically associated with a female skull, can
also appear on a male skull (Gulekon and Turgut, 2003; Klepinger, 2006). Yet, this and others, are still
some of most commonly used sites for sexing. Keen (1950) expressed that because morphology is
often related to size and robustness, determining sex is extremely difficult unless extreme features are
expressed, such as a very small mastoid process that projects only a small distance for females and a
massive mastoid process that projects a great distance from the inferior margins of the skull for males.
Furthermore Meindl et al. (1985) and Walker (1995) have discussed that the morphology of sites on
the skull of both sexes appear more masculine as the person ages, which would also hinder the
accuracy of determining the sex of skeletal remains. Buikstra and Ubelaker (1994, p.16) also caution
that estimation of sex can be difficult if the observer is not familiar with the overall pattern

Washington Mutual Mortgage Scandal
1. Form my understanding the Washington Mutual Mortgage scandal, the banks were leading out more
money to people that could not afford the loan was an everyday occurrence. In this case it really
shows that a lot of the time doing the wrong thing can be a lot easier than doing the right thing. When
you really don t have to look at credit scores, and it is a lot easier to give someone something they
want when really they can afford. Darley points out when this is a daily happing and the boss tell you
to do it, people tend to conform. After enough people conform this becomes a social norm of the work
environment.

Mother Teresa Acceptance Speech
Let us all thank God for this meeting ( Transcript of Mother Teresa´s Acceptance Speech ). I am
Mother Teresa, the founder of the Order of the Missionaries of Charity and Patron Saint for Doubters
(Eisenstadt Evans, Mother Teresa s canonization: She is the Patron saint for doubters ). I was born in
Skopje, (the capital of the Republic of Macedonia) Albania in 1910. I m a Roman Catholic and from
the age of 18 began to study to become a nun in Ireland (Gray, 60). In September of 1946, I received a
calling from God saying I had to leave the convent and, help the poor by living among them, (Gray,
60). This led me to Calcutta, India where I founded the Order of the Missionaries of Charity to restore
dignity in the souls of the underprivileged, degraded, and ill ( Biography Mother Teresa ). I ve been
criticized for my methods of maintaining my centers but have also been awarded the highest honor,
the Nobel Peace Prize, in 1979 (Eisenstadt Evans, Mother Teresa s canonization: She is the Patron
saint for doubters ). My life being surrounded by such violence has brought me here with you all
today. My devotion to helping the helpless and forgiving the unforgivable leads me to believe that all
people are embodiments of Christ and deserve to be loved and seen as equals. With this, William
Golding is guilty of libel against the human race since all people are born pure and any malevolent
acts of violence are results of society s teachings.

Franz Marc Deer
Vivid colors, sharp lines and turns, contrast, variety, this painting has it all. It is beautiful and
extremely unique, it is whimsical and creative, it is a piece of art that not many of us can understand.
When I first looked at Deer in the Forest painted by Franz Marc in 1913, I saw bright colors and a
couple deer, I saw trees and an owl. I saw a forest. I could see red, orange, yellow, green, and even
shades of blue, there was brown and white, with hints of black and grey. The painting seems flat, there
were no three dimensional objects or any painting techniques to make the picture pop out at you. The
lines are extremely straight, however, there are some curved lines. Deer in the Forest is an abstract
piece. Deer, the deer are the central focus of this painting. They are centrally placed and proportional
in size to the rest of the objects in the painting. The contrast of colors is very different in my eyes, I
am not used to seeing all of the colors of the rainbow in one picture, it is just odd to me, however, in
this situation, I find it very pleasing. To me, the colors are extremely dull, he used the lowest variant
of the colors and placed them in a way that made them somewhat pop at your eyes. It catches your
attention, in the best way possible. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe Franz Marc was extremely successful in relaying his message to his viewers. His painting is
original and unique, it is eye catching and unusual. However, I do not think this is an accurate
depiction of the artist skills, I believe he could have done more with the lines and space, he could have
brought out the deer more or brightened the hues of the colors, I seems as if it was rushed and he didn
t have a plan. I believe he did not have a plan, he just touched the pen to the paper and let it go. But do
not get me wrong, I love this piece, I would definitely buy this painting and place it in my home, but

some fundamental conditions must be present. The client must be anxious or incongruent and in
contact with the therapist. Therapists must be genuine, whereby their words, nonverbal mannerisms
and feelings are not to be contradicting. In addition, they must also accept the client and show
unconditional care towards them. The therapist must understand the client s thoughts, the ideas,
experiences, and feelings, when communicating back this empathic understanding
(Murdock, 2009).
Firstly, congruence (genuineness or realness) refers to the therapist s openness, genuineness and the
willingness to relate to clients without hiding behind a professional front.
Therapists who conduct sessions with this sincerity in mind have all their feelings available to them in
therapy sessions and may share significant emotional reactions with their clients.
However, congruence does not mean that therapists shift the focus of therapy to themselves in any
way or have a predetermined direction, or impose a professional agenda to their clients during
sessions. [Corey, 2005]
Second, a therapist should show

Literature Review On Gypsies
Literature Review:
This marginalized group of society basically faces the consequences of inequality. Different researches
have been undertaken by different researchers. Jessica redy wrote in her article about the origin of
gypsies, highlighting the richness of this vibrant and normally misunderstood ethnic group. According
to her many Roma are imbibed today, some because of the financial support to hide their ethnicity and
others because the culture was muffled long ago by genocide or political tragedy, while others quietly
preserve their heritage in the privacy of their own homes. If they are not preys of racist reporting then
they are victims of poverty. There are glimpses of Roma being pushed into slums by government,

Weather it is economical sector, educational sector, or health sector, they are deliberately exempted
from the basic needs provided by afore mentioned sectors. Identity chaos is the major dilemma of their
life, which leads to other societal evils. Knowingly or unknowingly these people are deprived of even
basic needs of life. This discriminatory attitude of society as well as authorities as led them to
wrongfully think that they deserve the life they are living. The mysterious circumstances of gypsies
are caused by the abys gap between these communities and government. Their children are bound to
labor because of impossibility of the elders to work due to failure of showing their real identity, due to
which they cannot get a proper job and have to rely upon meager income. Due to lack of formal
education they do not have awareness to descent norms of society; they even considered the legal
judicial system bogus. The concept of polygamy is common among them, without considering the just
treatment for each wife, they even do not know the total number of their children, which is a
screaming testimony of their irresponsible attitude toward their families. These attitudes make them
unacceptable for the society, which leads to their marginalization. Many gypsies teach their children
the traditional music and dance of the Gypsy people, but literacy is not highly valued. This means that
Gypsies cannot respond articulately to the negative stereotypes that are circulated in the media of the
countries they

My Goal For Both Immersion Activities
Immersion One
My goal for both immersion activities was to learn more about African American culture, experiences
and history. I hope that by educating myself that it will help to counteract the unintentional biases and
judgements that I have learned from breathing in the racist smog that prevails in our society. I chose to
watch Remember the Titans for my Immersion One activity. I thought this movie would accurately
show the experiences that African Americans have had with racism in the past in our country and that
they also still continue to struggle with today.
I have watched this movie countless times before but this time when I watched it was different than
before. I always knew it was obviously a movie about racism, but I never picked up on tiny parts of
the dialogue and certain scenes stood out as much more significant to me than they have in the past.
For example, at one point in the movie a brick is thrown through Coach Boone s window while his
daughter and Sheryl Yoast are playing in the living room. The next day, Coach Yoast is angry about
what happened. He accuses Coach Boone for it being his fault that the brick was thrown through his
window because of his sins . Coach Boone is very offended by this and points out that he did not do
anything to deserve it and also that maybe now Sheryl has an idea of what his daughters go through
every day of their lives.
This scene reminded me a lot of The Color of Fear and the conversation that Victor and David had

World War 1 Causes
In the late 1800s Otto von Bismarck, the Chancellor of Prussia predicted that some damned foolish
thing in the Balkans would start another war. That is exactly what happened when Archduke Franz
Ferdinand of Austria Hungary visited the Balkans and was shot; this sparked World War 1. The killing
of the Archduke, however, is not the only reason for World War 1. There were actually four underlying
causes that led to World War 1: Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism, and Nationalism. All four of these
causes played their own part in leading to World War 1 and set off a chain of events that left Europe
shaken. Militarism was a underlying factor in leading to World War 1 because it created competition

The alliances were the triple alliance and the triple entente. The triple alliance consisted of Germany,
Austria Hungary, and Italy. The triple entente consisted of France, United Kingdom, and Russia

Austria Hungary attacked Serbia due to the killing of their to be ruler. Then Russia starts to mobilize
due to its alliance with Serbia and then Germany declares war on Russia and France to protect Austria
Hungary due to their alliance. Germany wants to get through Belgium to go attack France but United
kingdom has an alliance with them and attacks Germany to protect Belgium.A public cartoon shows
how countries blamed other countries and this also shows how the whole war unraveled. Austria
Hungary is pointing fingers at Serbia while it is pointing their back. Then Russia can be seen pointing
at Germany while Germany points back at Russia. Belgium, Britain, and France are all also pointing at
Germany while Italy stands there with its hands crossed (Document 4). This whole cartoon shows the

Insurance Companies and Hurricane Sandy
Hurricane Sandy Introduction How did the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the
New Jersey emergency agencies and private insurance companies work together or did they? to help
victims of the horrific winds and water associated with Hurricane Sandy? This paper delves into that
issue. Insurance Companies and Hurricane Sandy From news reports it would appear that insurance
companies did not provide the emergency assistance that victims of Hurricane Sandy had hoped for.
This is not to say that all insurance companies failed to deliver the help that their policyholders
expected, but clearly some companies failed to deliver, and their efforts were not always in sync with
FEMA and the NF Office of Emergency Management. For example, as far as the National Flood
Insurance Program s efficiency in getting checks to homeowners, the payouts ...have not come quickly
enough (Van Embden, 2013). Even now, nearly three months since the storm passed, some
residents...are still waiting for their checks, Van Embden explains, noting that Jim Racanelli and his
family have spent three months as nomads because without a home (which was destroyed in the
hurricane), and without money to rebuild, they are out of luck (Van Embden). Typically insurance
companies have 30 days to respond to claims, but when a major storm causes emergency situations
beyond the normal needs, that deadline is suspended, Van Embden explains. Of the 350,000 homes in
New Jersey that were either damaged

The J.F.K. Assassination
The J.F.K. Assassination The 1960 Presidential election was won by John F. Kennedy who defeated
the incumbent Vice President Richard Nixon by the narrowest margin in history. Kennedy, a senator
from Massachusetts was the only Roman Catholic and the youngest man elected to the presidency. In
1963, during his third year in office President Kennedy s popularity increased and he had already
started planning for his reelection campaign. On the morning of November 23, 1963, the President
flew to Dallas where he was to speak at a lunch held at the Trade Mart. As the presidential motorcade

Kennedy ordered 1000 American soldiers home from Southeast Asia by the end of the year. The rest
of the troops were to be out of Vietnam by the end of 1965 (Prouty 116). Fletcher Prouty, a retired Air
Force Colonel, was in charge promoting military support for the camouflage activities of the CIA
during the 1960 s. In this book, Prouty explains the steps involved in planning the assassination. First
the conspirators chose Dallas as the site for the murder and selected a skilled group of mechanics .
These mechanics are an elite group of sharpshooters that are trained and supported by the CIA. Next,
the plotters made certain that routine security measures would be neglected. However, the biggest and
most important element of the ensuing plot was the creation of the scapegoat. Cover Story experts had
created an entire scenario setting Oswald up as this patsy long before the assassination actually was
initiated (Prouty 136 137) . Until President Kennedy was assassinated, he was always given adequate
Secret Service protection during his routine appearances and political functions. It is significant that
since the moment the President arrived at Love Field, standard security measures were either
neglected or ignored. That day the President was riding in a convertible limousine without the
bulletproof bubble that was usually provided. Instead of

Black Diggers Dramatic Meaning
The Queensland Theatre Company s Black Diggers dramatic meaning is to highlight the racial
prejudice that Indigenous soldiers faced in the time period surrounding World War II and call to
attention the lack of remembrance and appreciation for Indigenous soldiers actions. The dramatic
meaning is effectively portrayed to the audience through the manipulation of the elements of drama,
the components of collage drama and acting skills.
The dramatic meaning of Black Diggers is communicated to the audience through the effective use of
the dramatic element symbol. This is seen when a small list is compiled of Indigenous soldiers,
reminiscent to the one at the Australian War memorial. This portrays the dramatic meaning, as this is
the only form of remembrance for the Indigenous soldiers. Secondly, symbol is utilised used through a
flame that is lit through the whole performance. This flame represents that the discrimination ... Show

These components include juxtaposition and direct address to the audience. Juxtaposition is seen when
The Last Post overshadows a didgeridoo, when the Indigenous serviceman returned from war. This
enhances the dramatic meaning as it is conveying that the wider white community overlooked the
actions of Indigenous soldiers. Also, the Last Post is still played today and thus communicates that
there is still prejudice now. Secondly, use of direct address to the audience developed the viewer s
understanding of the dramatic meaning. This is evident as a past soldier is describing the effects of
war and his journey through World War I, and speaking as if the audience were at the event. This
grasped the audience on a personal level and made the address more meaningful. It is through the use
of components of collage drama; juxtaposition and direct audience address that the dramatic meaning

Racial Diversity Research Paper
Racial Diversity
Race is a part of our culture that shapes who we are as a society. Race helps us make up how one sees
the world around us and the different multitudes of ethnic groups. Different raciest are compassed by
how we view one s languages, values, and beliefs, race that continues to shape the practice and
politics of citizenship in ways that are often obscured in modern citizenship debates (Collins. 2014)
causing for racial diversity. In the past race was concerted either black or white, there was no in

The big issue on discrimination has been going on sense the beginning of time. With one race of
people trying to control another race of people, pose challenges that is still and always will be an issue
that society has always struggled with. Now that the United States has become a melting pot of not
only different races, but also people with different values, genders, ages, religions, ethnicity, ability,
classes, and sexual orientation. No race or cultural of people male or female is beyond diversity that
has taken over the world today. No one can truly say that he or she has never experienced or witness
some form of biases or prejudices in one s life. The media shows events of biases and prejudices that
take shape across the world every day, all one has to do is turn on the TV or open the newspaper. The
beliefs that one race is better than another has always been an open opinion that fuels hate that one
class of people is better than another. Race diversity should not be thought of as a bad thing, we
should embrace race diversity. By embracing another race or cultural it allows a race other than one s
own to be shared and understood why one race of people way of life is unlike one s own without
having culture shock when one comes across another race of people. A good thing about a different
race one is able to learn what we concerned abnormal or normal through another culture eyes per say

Advantages Of Portfolio Optimization
Robust Optimization Approach to Multi Period Portfolio Selection Progress Report
Introduction
Investors always seek for a way that they can get back greatest return while enjoying minimized risk.
Instead of investing in a single asset, holding a portfolio is obviously less risky. However, how to
select the best portfolio among tens of thousands of assets in today s financial market? The stringent
need of investors promote the raising of modern portfolio theory. In 1952, Harry Markowitz [1]
established the fundamental model of modern portfolio theory: the Markowitz model, also called the
mean variance model. This model aimed to achieve a tradeoff between the expected return and the risk
of return. As shown in Figure 1, among all efficient portfolios, the efficient frontier consisted of all
those with highest return at each given risk level. C_1,C_2,and C_3 were the investors indifference
curves which showed that traders prefer portfolios with high return or low risk. The tangent point R of
the highest indifference curve and the efficient frontier gave the optimized portfolio. Figure 1:

The Finches From The Galapagos Island
Change is the key factor in a species survival, whether that change, is being minimal or extremely
dramatic, and without change a species have condemned itself to extinction. Animals have learned to
adapt to their surroundings in order to survive, and with these adaptation people can witness new
breeds added to the spectrum and see them flourish. Breeds can be defined as a stock of animals or
plants within a species having a distinctive appearance and typically having been developed by
deliberate selection. For example the finches from the Galapagos Island s they are all finches, but they
all differed in their appearance, some had smaller others had larger beaks. Charles Darwin studied
these Finches and came to discover that the Finches differed in appearance because they had adapted
to their environment. The Galápagos finches provide an excellent example of this process. Among the
birds that ended up in arid environments, the ones with beaks better suited for eating cactus obtained
supplementary food. As a result, they were in healthier condition to mate. Similarly, those with beak
shapes that were well suited in getting nectar from flowers or eating thicker shielded seeds in other
environments were at an advantage there. In a very real sense, nature selected the best adapted
varieties to survive and to reproduce. With his findings throughout the years Darwin formulated his
theory of evolution by natural selection, and published his first book entitled, On the Origin

Shi No Numa Research Paper
Treyarch zombies first appeared in Call of Duty: World at War and quickly became very popular when
DLC#3 came out with the zombies map that brought dogs into play, Shi No Numa. In this map,
Treyarch added wonder weapons, dogs, and the four main characters, Tank Dempsey, Nikolia
Belsinki, Takeo Masaki and Doctor Richtofen, that impressed thousands. With the release of Nacht der
Untoten, the first ever zombies map, came the first ever strategies for a four player or one player

storyline. The Treyarch zombies franchise has one of the largest gaming communities because of the
exclusive gameplay mechanics, the genius strategies , and the rich storyline that all began, at Der
Riese, featuring the giant .
Zombies Verruct may have brought the perks, but Shi No Numa brought the Wonder Waffe DG 2, and
dogs. The innovation that Shi No Numa brought was truly something else as the four main characters
were introduced. One thing that really Shi No Numa stood out for was the Wonder Waffe, basically a
Germen super weapon that shoots lightning. It could take out 10 15 zombies in one bolt, but has an
ammo count of 14. The dogs are also very popular, so popular in fact that they are still in the latest
zombies, Black Ops II. Every 5 6 round, the light will dim and the dogs will come attack you. They
are pretty tough puppies, but do drop a max ammo when you complete the round. Also the perks,

Hasty Generalization Fallacy
Fallacies are an error in reasoning, a fault in one s argument that does not have the correct evidence or
facts. Fallacies are something that we commit since we were young kids, arguing with your brothers
or sisters and into our adulthood arguing with our spouse or trying to make a point in our career fields.
Many of us even commit these fallacies without realizing what we are doing, it is a learning progress
for many to realize and understand when we are using fallacy and trigger our brain to think in a
different way to avoid the trickiness of fallacies. One fallacy that could be tricky and easy to use daily
would be Hasty Generalizations, which is a fallacy that is based on assumption, which we all know we
have done at some point in our lives and can see how easy it could be to use as an automatic reaction.
Hasty Generalization according to UNC is Making assumption about a whole group or range of cases
based on a sample that is inadequate stereotypes about people When committing a Hasty
Generalization fallacy, you are assuming a conclusion or assuming that one thing is the same as all of
them in a group without knowing the proper facts to back up why your conclusion is correct. You take
your own perspective on a subject and assume you know it all without doing the proper research to
prove to someone else that you do actually know it all. During a debate with a colleague or just a

Essay Symbolism in Elie Wiesel s Night
Symbolism in Night by Brooke Justus
Elie Wiesel uses several types of figurative language in Night. In his novel, Elie s use of symbolism is
most important in helping the reader understand the horrors of his experience during the Holocaust.
The first and most prevalent example of symbolism in the book is the title itself. By calling the novel
Night it is apparent to the reader that the Holocaust was a dark experience, full of terror and suffering.
The entire novel is filled with last nights . Elie experiences the last night withEl his father, the last
night in Buna, the last night in the ghetto, and several others throughout the book. The term night also
references to a life without a God. Wiesel often says that God does not ... Show more content on

The first time fire appears in the book is when Madame Schächter screams in terror, claiming that she
can see fire from the train. It later becomes known that she received a vision of the horrors that were
coming to them in the near future. Fire is also a symbol of cruelty because of its role in the death of
millions in the crematoria and in fire pits. Elie witnesses the burning of babies in the beginning of the
novel, which is the first time Elie truly understands the severity of the Nazi power. Never shall I forget
that smoke. Never shall I forget the small faces of the children whose bodies I saw transformed into
smoke under a silent sky, (Wiesel 34). Fire can also be seen as a symbol of Elie s loss of his faith in
his God and in the Jewish religion. In Judaism, tradition says that the evil and wicked will be
condemned to Gehenna and suffer a fiery punishment. However, Elie s experiences reverse what he
was taught by his faith. The innocent were murdered in the crematorium by the evil. This shows how
Elie s faith was strongly questioned during the Holocaust due to the experiences and how his concept
of religion was changed dramatically. Never shall I forget the nocturnal silence that deprived me for
all eternity of the desire to live. Never shall I forget those moments that murdered my God and my
soul and turned my dreams to ashes. Corpses are also a symbol in Night. Elie often refers to the

Thomas Mofolo’s novel Chaka Essay
According to the English author and philosopher, Edmund Burke, The greater the power, the more
dangerous the abuse. (Burke) This often proves to be true in Thomas Mofolo s novel Chaka. Power is
a corruptive concept. If you do not have a genuinely selfless heart, you will become corrupted by your
own power, which often happened to those of power in this novel. However, even though power is
often seen as having influence over others, power can also be distinctly self centered. Power can be
expressed through controlling others, but it can also be expressed by disabling others from controlling
you. Powerlessness occurs when you lose the determination to stop others from controlling you. Now,
power is something that everyone can relate to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, while the powerful are portrayed as relatable, they are also portrayed as generally
unforgiving and often unmerciful characters, who usually place the value of power over the value of
humanity and relationships. Senzangakhona, the first king in this novel, wanted for his companion s
son, Dingiswayo, to be dead simply because he knew that he would serve as a threat to the throne. He
also decided to banish his son, Chaka, and his wife, Nandi, because he knew that keeping them here
would bring shame to them as well as himself, and would endanger his kingship. However, he did face
internal struggles when making the decision to do this, which made him more humanistic. For
example, On page 11, the author states that The pain which Senzangakhona felt in his heart when he
had to part with Chaka, his child, and Nandi, his wife, was such that we are unable to describe it, for
he loved them greatly. (Mofolo, p.11) The battle between what is expected of you (in his case, to be
king) and what your heart yearns for (in his case, to be with his child and wife) is something that most
people can relate to, making him more personable. Chaka was portrayed as the most ruthless of all the
kings, murdering countless Zulus, as well as his own mother, wife, and child. In the beginning of the
novel, however, he was easy to relate to. As a young boy, he was rejected by his father, forced to live

Argumentative Essay On Real Life Extension
Biologists have known for some time that certain organisms can survive for sustained time periods in
what is essentially a death like state. The North American Wood Frog, for example, shuts down its
entire body system in winter; its heart stops beating and its whole body is frozen, until summer
returns; at which point it thaws and comes back to life 4
. What is now becoming clear is that there is a technology available for humans that imitates this
process. What if we, like the frog, could be
frozen until a period of time in which developing technology could cure our ailments, prolong our
lives, and possibly allow us to live forever?
Arguably, the motivation which lies behind the cryonics movement is the human desire for life
extension. As the transhumanist Nick ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

future revival; over 200 people have already been preserved at the ALCOR cryonics centre in Arizona.

The possibility of life extension leads us to question our current definition of death ; whether death
should cease to be the moment at which the human heart stops beating, or the brain stops functioning.
In section 2 I will discuss the definition of the term death , and how the prospect of cryonic revival
affects this definition. If we were to redefine death , this would have implications for how we treat the
dead. If there is even a miniscule possibility for revival, burying our dead could be seen as tantamount
to murder.
Other immortalist technologies which seek to extend life include mind uploading (scanning the
contents of one s brain onto a computer )7
, and gene therapy (preventing ageing by stopping the decay of genes)8

Effect Of Sleep On Declarative Memory
Article Interrogation on Exploring the effect of sleep and reduced interference on different forms of
declarative memory In this article, researchers used three studies to attempt to determine if sleep
affects declarative memory (Schönauer, Pawlizki, Köck, Gais, 2014). The study seems to test an
association between the variables of sleep and declarative memory, and the study attempts to make the
casual claim that Sleep does not preferentially consolidate a specific kind of declarative memory, but
consistently promotes overall declarative memory formation (Schönauer et al., 2014, para. 5). The
overall validity of this experiments appears to be quite strong, as the researchers appeared to carefully
measure their variables and prioritized the different validities in order to achieve an accurate result.

NUCLEAR ENERGY AND ITS DOMINATION IN THE DISTANT FUTURE.
THESIS: Nuclear energy will dominate in Russia in the next 50 60 years.
NAME: AKANKSHA SHELAT
STUDENT NUMBER: 1001159845
Nuclear energy technology seems to be increasing at an alarming rate in order to meet the astonishing
increase in demand for electricity. A lot of countries have doubled their efforts to produce nuclear
energy in order to meet the worlds new clean energy demands, some even more than other. The aim of
this paper is to address the mounting success and development of nuclear energy and power
particularly in Russia, and its domination in the future.
Nuclear Energy is an up and coming term in the new age world. The common definition for nuclear
energy is the energy released by a nuclear reaction, especially by fission or fusion.
(http://www.enec.gov.ae/learn about nuclear energy/what is nuclear energy/)
The nucleus in an atom is held together by what is known as nuclear force or the strong force. A
nuclear fission is a process where the nucleus splits into smaller and lighter parts called nuclei
releasing vast amounts of nuclear energy.
The history of nuclear energy harnessing began in the 20th century with the discovery of the neutron
by James Chadwick, and by 1939 experiments involving nuclear fission and its ability to self sustain
through a chain reaction resulting in enormous amounts of energy was discovered by Otto

The United States Supreme Court
Acclaim for asserting the United States Supreme Court as a substantial participant in the American
structure of government has been ascribed to the guidance of John Marshall as Chief Justice of the
United States Supreme Court from 1801 to 1835. By 1835, the Supreme Court had attained a level of
equality with the prowess and prestige as that of Congress and the Executive that was not present
before John Marshall was appointed to the position. Central to this development was the Court s
adoption of the Constitution as its distinct reserve. Chief Justice John Marshall utilized judicial review
to eliminate the Supreme Court from the socio political conflicts in government and to institute the
rule of law based on the principles established in the Constitution of the Unites States. Marshall and
his colleagues erected the Court s recognized power by effectively affirming an assertion to explain
the Constitution and subsequently supplant the Constitution as supreme law in the commonplace
sequence of arbitration and by the end of his judgeship firmly supplanted the Supreme Court s role in
the U.S. system of government. John James Marshall came into this world on September 24, 1755 in a
small cabin built of logs near a small rural community in Virginia known as Germantown. John was
the first son born to Thomas Marshall and Mary Keith. His mother and father went on to have fifteen
children giving John eight sisters and six brothers.1 In the beginning of the 1760s, the Thomas

Catcher in the Rye Theme Essay
Catcher in the Rye written by J.D. Salinger, is a novel in which the author creates much irony in the
way he presents the loss of innocence or the fall from innocence in his main character, Holden
Caulfield. While Holden clearly believes in protecting the innocence of children in society, he himself
cannot seem to hang onto his own innocence. Throughout the novel Holden shows his love and
protection for childhood innocence, the irony that he in fact himself may be losing his own childhood
innocence mainly due to the responsibilities which he has taken on, and also shows that he may be
more innocent than the reader first thinks as his simplified view of a complex world is much like an

Delay Analysis Of Networked Control System Essay
Delay Analysis Of Networked Control System
Abstract Networked Control Systems (NCS) are the control systems in which the control loops are
closed through a communication network. In recent years, the use of Network Control System (NCS)
have gained increasing attentions due to their cost effective and flexible applications. But one of the
major challenges that need to be tackle in NCS is the delay of the data transmission which occurs
throughout the communication network and thus degrades the control system performance and also
causes the system instability. Therefore, this paper presents an analysis of network delay in NCS. In
this paper, we have designed a model of delay control system for network induced delay using the
simulation model of network control system delay and thus analysed the effect of network delay on
the performance of the control system . The TrueTime simulator is used in this work.
Keywords networked control system, network delay, control performance, truetime, stability
I.INTRODUCTION
In conventional control systems, control signals are sent over the loop using analog or digital
technology, while in modern computer control systems, the control loop is almost entirely closed over
a communication network . The Networked Control Systems (NCSs) are one type of distributed
control systems in which sensors, actuators and controllers are interconnected by communication
networks. The defining feature

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Voltage-Source Inverter
Abstract The Z Source Inverter (ZSI) overcomes the disadvantages of the traditional Voltage Source
Inverter (VSI) and Current Source Inverter (CSI), it can buck and boost its output voltage by utilizing
the shoot through state which is forbidden in traditional VSI. Different PWM techniques are available
for the control of Z Source Inverters. In the traditional PWM technique equal shoot through time
interval is considered for the three phase legs. Hence, the realization of the shoot through state is easy,
but the main drawback of this modulation method is big inductor ripple and a large inductor when the
output frequency is low. In this paper, a novel Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM)
technique to reduce the inductor current ripple ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to equation (14), the eight switching vectors, output line to neutral voltage (phase voltage),
and output line to line voltages in terms of input DC voltage Vdc, are given in Table1
Space Vector PWM (SVPWM) refers to a special switching sequence of the upper three power
transistors of a three phase power inverter. It has been shown to generate less harmonic distortion in
the output voltages and or currents applied to the phases of an AC motor and to provide more efficient
use of supply voltage compared with sinusoidal modulation technique. The biggest difference from
other PWM methods is that the SVPWM uses a vector as a reference. This gives the advantage of a
better overview of the system.
Out of the 8 possible switching states, two are zero switching states and six are active switching states.
These are represented by active (V1 V6) and zero (V0) vectors. Six nonzero vectors (V1 V6) shape
the axes of a hexagonal and feed electric power to the load. The angle between any adjacent two non
zero vectors is 60 degrees. Meanwhile, two zero vectors (V0 and V7) are placed at the origin and
apply zero voltage to the load. This is shown in Fig.

misfortune as well as comic relief, Candide, holds the interest of its readers while educating them in
Enlightened views. For the use of our current studies, this novel is a brilliant bridge between the witty

With his every present sardonic writing, Voltaire addresses issues regarding religion, social structure,

religion went unscathed as Voltaire took shots at many of the main sects of religion including
Protestantism, Catholicism, and Anabaptism. He also took shots at elitist nobility and the unfair
women s rights of the time, using irony to show the uselessness of the unjust systems and privileges
(or lack thereof). In addition, Voltaire made light work of philosophical optimism, an idea highly
popularized by German theorist Gottfried Wilhelm von Leibnitz. It was thought that God created a

The Industrial Revolution And The French Revolution
The Industrial Revolution and the French Revolution are both integral parts of European history.
Taking place during the late eighteenth century, each molded different parts of Europe and had
different social ramifications. The Industrial Revolution began in the late 1700 s and was the
beginning of new innovations along with manufacturing processes. The French Revolution began
during the year 1789, with two sides of the population fighting either for or against the monarchy. The
French Revolution ended ten years later during the year 1799 with the French overthrowing the
monarchy and starting their own form of government. While both revolutions have had a huge impact
on modern day Europe, the innovations along with the social changes that occurred during the
Industrial Revolution make it more significant than the French Revolution. Before the Industrial
Revolution, Britain was comprised of rural areas where most of the population resided. A lot of their
time revolved around agriculture as a means of survival and as a way to make an income. They also
built and produced most of their clothing, furniture and homes with machines that were simple and
small tools. As time went by, people came up with different ideas and changed the methods in which
they were able to produce agriculture. This led to an increase in food production which was steadily
available to the population that was rising and working factories. These events would become apart of
what would start the Industrial

Social Service In Public Schools
The Merriam Webster dictionary defines social service as an activity to promote social well being;
specifically: organized philanthropic assistance (as of the disabled or disadvantaged) (Social Service).
In addition, most social service agencies are categorized as a 501(c)(3), which suggests that a
particular nonprofit organization has been approved by the Internal Revenue Service (commonly
known as the IRS) as a tax exempt, charitable organization. Charitable is broadly defined as being
established for purposes that are religious, educational, charitable, scientific, literary, testing for public
safety, fostering of national or international amateur sports, or prevention of cruelty to animals and
children (What does it mean..?). Shadow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Rise Of Power By Alexander The Great, Genghis Khan,...
The Rise to Power
All great leaders have many similarities with one another. Leaders all over the globe have the ability
to gain the support of their people and to keep it, which is definitely a challenge, but generally the way
that s done is the same for all leaders. But, the differences between leader s characters and choices can
be vastly different. This paper will discuss three great leaders named Alexander the Great, Genghis
Khan, and Julius Caesar, particularly how they inspired their people, the public s opinion of the leader,
each leader s character, and overall which leader lead more efficiently and effectively.
This paper discusses Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan, and Julius Caesar. Alexander the Great was
the leader of Macedonia from 336 323 B.C., Genghis Khan was the leader of Mongolia from 1206
1227, and Julius Caesar was the leader of Rome from 49 44 B.C.. , , These leaders were chosen
because throughout history they have left an amazing legacy and accolades rarely seized by others.
These three rulers will always be remembered as some of the best leaders the world has ever seen.
Alexander the Great had an amazing political and military mind. With the tutelage of his father, Philip
II, and a great education, he became one of the best leaders of all time. And even as a boy, many knew
Alexander s destiny was to rule. There came a day when Philoneicus the Thessalian brought Philip
(Alexander s father) a horse named Bucephalus. The king and his friends

Canine s Thyroid Disease
There are diseases in which an animal s body does not function properly. Companion animals whose
body produce excess amounts of thyroxin (T3 T4), a thyroid hormone from the thyroid gland, is
diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism, also called thyrotoxicosis. This disease is not recognized in
livestock like in companion pets. Felines who are adult age are the companion animal designated to
contract this disease. Canine s thyroid composition can handle and dispose of any excessive hormone
surplus, so hyperthyroidism symptoms only occur when a tumor is present. Each species of animal has
its own anatomical thyroid gland. In general, non cancerous adenomas are known to enlarge thyroid
glands, whereas thyroid adenocarcinomas also enlarge the gland, but ... Show more content on

Heart and kidney function, as well as the brain and eyes can be damaged when hypertension is
secondary to hyperthyroidism. Signs of the disease are hyperexcitability, vomiting, diarrhea, increased
thirst, increased urination, and weight loss even with increased appetite. The hyperthyroidism is
diagnosed by clinical signs, symptoms, and blood tests to check hormone levels and chemistry panels.
Surgery to remove the thyroid is a cure to eliminate hyperthyroidism, but a thyroidectomy will require
hormone medication for the rest of the animal s life. As with any surgery with anesthesia, there is a
risk, and since the parathyroid gland is in close proximity to the thyroid gland, care must be taken to
not damage the parathyroid gland. Medication to control the production of excess T3 and T4 hormone
is a treatment, not a cure for the disease. However, if the animal has side effects which have to be dealt
with, daily dosing of anti thyroid medication, and veterinarian visits for blood tests fall to the
responsibility of the owner. Radioactive iodine therapy is a safe, effective way to kill the thyroid
abnormal tissue, providing another cure for hyperthyroidism. An injection of the radioactive iodine is
performed by the veterinarian and the iodine is engrossed by the bloodstream, with no adverse side
effects or the risk of anesthesia. Since this treatment is radioactive, hospitalization after injection must
be adhered until the

Heroic Ignorance And Gothic Novels By Jane Austen
Heroic Ignorance and Gothic Novels
Jane Austen s novel, Northanger Abbey, seeks to explore the effect of wealth on society. Throughout
the novel, this portrayal of wealth assumes an increasingly critical tone, and is thus used to suggest the
negative impact of financial goals in a relationship. This is shown in the contrast between Catherine s
relationship with Mr. Tilney, and Isabella s promiscuous ways. In this dynamic, Catherine remains
pure, engaged to a poor clergyman, whereas her friend Isabella ensnares men in the hopes of gaining
wealth and societal status. Through this dynamic, Austen provides an example of the British Romantic
ideal that both love and the individual are only pure and righteous when freed from the constraints of
society and affluence. Ironically, the Gothic novels that were prevalent in the later part of the British
Romantic Period are frequently cited as a source of misfortune throughout the novel. Catherine, who
is portrayed as good and pure, is misled into believing that the stories spun in Gothic novels are
applicable to her own life. Her friend, Isabella, is also portrayed as a lover of the genre, which is
Austen s way of hinting at Isabella s future sins. Although the Gothics influence both Catherine and
Isabella, Austen portrays the characters as opposites one the promiscuous villain and one the victim of
the heroic tale. Austen continuously comments on the nature of heroism, and thus mocks the timid
Catherine while ironically branding her a

The main objective of the ADEA is to prevent companies from singling out their older employees
when going through layoffs or restructuring. Employers who are found guilty by the commission shall
be punished by a fine of not more than $500 or by imprisonment for not more than one year or by
both. The Equal Pay Act of 1963 The EPA requires employers to provide men and women with equal
pay for equal work in the same organization. Employers may not pay unequal wages to men and
women who perform jobs that require substantially equal skill, effort, and responsibility within the
same organization. In the event that an employer is found guilty will be subject to a fine of $10,000, or
sentenced to imprisonment six months, or both. The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986
(IRCA) The IRCA applies to employers in the United States, even if the employer only employs one
employee. The IRCA applies to every fulltime part time, temporary or seasonal employees. The IRCA
enforces the national immigration policy. While its provisions are complex, three basic features of the
law are particularly relevant to employers (Cascio, 2013, p. 88): 1. Employers may not hire or
continue to employ unauthorized aliens (i.e., those not legally authorized to work in this country). 2.

The emergence of Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) and the prevalence of Human

A research specialist for the CDC, Dr. James Curran, stated in July of 1981 that no cases have been
reported to date outside the homosexual community or in women (Altman, 1981). That may have been
the case in that moment of time, but much changed over the course of only a few months. Between
July and December of 1981, another population was identified as suffering from the illness that had no
name. This was the population of injecting drug users (IDU) and it was no longer limited to the United
States, as Great Britain had its first reported case in that same month (AVERT, 2015). With the
HIV/AIDS outbreak achieving a trans continental status, efforts were ramped up to identify the source
of transmission. By the end of 1982, reports of cases with similar symptoms were coming from
several European countries, Uganda, and Haiti which reflected the widespread nature of the situation
(AVERT, 2015). In just one year, the number of cases reported in the United States alone went from 41
to 452 and from just 2 states affected to 23 (CDC, 2015). It became a global health concern due to the
wasting effects and rapidity of onset to death. Finally identified as being a blood borne pathogen,
AIDS became the name and transmission linked to exposure to blood by sexual relations, needle
sharing, and even blood transfusion. By October 1983, the World Health

The 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa
Introduction
When South Africa won the lobby for hosting the 2010 FIFA world cup, news went viral about it and
almost reached everyone in the world. It was a great moment of joy and celebrations especially in the
African countries. This jubilant joy and pomp celebrations might have been because of the continent s
attempts in bidding to host this mega sport event without success. Many people around the world had
their eyes fixed on South Africa, some questioning the ability of the country to host such a famous
activity in the world s calendar. Some people saw fun; others saw failure and the ... Show more

Integrity and competition are key aspects in the business field; they measure the level of ethics and
determination in a company.
* Economic development
Despite being the gateway to Africa, South Africa still has some economic challenges. Poor
infrastructure, low tourist attraction, and inadequate capital investment among others, are still big
headache for this country (Grundling and Steynberge 2010). By FIFA accepting to take this major
football event there, FIFA and the South African government were targeting to help spur economic
development in that part of the world.
Challenges
Like any other project, the 2010 FIFA world cup in South Africa faced many challenges. These
challenges, ranging from political to social, interfered with the planning of the event in one way or
another. Racial segregation, poor transport network, security threats and developing economy
challenged the project timeline in varied ways. To understand fully the implication of these challenges,
the report segments them as:
* Insecurity
Security is of prime concern and takes first priority whenever an event is planned and executed. With
the proliferations of the terror advancement throughout the world, the organizers of the 2010 FIFA
world cup were more concerned with security than any other thing. The porosity in the South African
security system posed a great challenge. With the high number of people expected to attend the event,
nationals and

Significant Cultural Conflicts In The 1920 s
The 1920 s was a time of significant cultural conflict in the United States. The causes of these
conflicts came with the massive changes that occurred in America at the time, such as the change in
business and citizens. Flourishing massive waves immigration, prosperity. However, many people
worried about the deteriorating nature of society and blamed the problems of crime, corruption and
poverty on the new influx of immigrants from around the world. Although attempts to immigrate came
out with mixed results, they still represent a remarkable attempt by American citizens to rectify

Quotas were based on the desirability of various nationalities; aliens from northern and Western
Europe were considered more desirable than those fromsouthern and Eastern Europe. Immigrants who
fulfilled lawful residence requirements were exempt from quotas, as were alien wives, children, and
some husbands of U.S. citizens. Congress eventually passed an act providing for the denial of visas to
aliens whose presence in the U.S. would endanger public safety. Immigration legislation passed after
being including the laws barring the Chinese from entering the U.S. and allowing their admission to
the country in accordance with an annual quota. A federal law passed authorizing the admission to the
U.S., without regard to quota and physical and other standards, the wives and children of citizens
serving in or honorably discharged from the armed forces of the U.S. during World War II. Overall
America is an immigrant nation. First settled by Europeans and then followed by immigrants from
across the world, we are all essentially outsiders. Ancestors traveled to America for the opportunity to
prosper and be free, not prevent current immigrants from doing the same. As human beings,
immigrants should have the same rights as anyone does. Immigrants take a risk by bringing their
children to America in order to escape the dangers in their own country and have a better chance at

  • 2. Major Argument Essay Argument essay (Rough Draft) Thousands of students graduate from high school each year in the United States. As they enter college a new world of decisions opens up to them. The main one being; how should one choose a major, based on potential financial gain or based on enjoyment? For the purposes of this paper when speaking of potential financial gain I am referring to majors that will have some type of base salary of at least 40k and enjoyment as majors that are in the fine arts. With so many different options at so many different schools this is undoubtedly one of the most difficult decisions to make due to the fact that a person s entire future will essentially be on the line. Nonetheless, when choosing a major, the most rational thing for someone to do is to choose a major with potential financial gain Now yes there are many people who have found work in their fields when it comes to majors such involving music, art, and fashion. However, the odds of receiving and opportunity to enter a career in those fields is very limited and exclusive almost. For instance, in a study conducted by the bureau of labor statistics it is shown that in 2014 the number of jobs in music industry involving both musicians and singers was only about 173,300 give or take 6,000 nationwide. With such a limited number ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another major which someone might consider out of enjoyment is that of fashion. Now according to sonaku.com the average salary for a fashion designer is 64k a year and according to lawyer. Edu the average salary for a criminal lawyer is 78.5k a year. Again, another prime example why choosing a major based on the financial aspect is superior to choosing a major based on enjoyment ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Similarities And Differences Between South Africa And Kenya 1. Introduction I have selected to compare the laws in South Africa and Kenya. My analysis includes an explanation of the laws in each country highlighting differences and similarities. I have then explored how these laws relate to the functions of Strategic Human Resource management. I have noted throughout how the laws in these countries have an impact on all areas of Strategic Human resource functions of recruiting and interviewing, performance appraisal and job enrichment, compensation and benefits, employee development, health and safety and strategic management. I have proceeded to discuss whether in my opinion the laws in each country favour the employee, employer or government as well as discussing what the impacts are of the laws on organizational ability to employ Human Resource Management principles in the ... The wage councils consist of representation from worker, employee and independent experts. These members of this council are appointed for a period of three years and are entrusted with investigating pay and working conditions in any sector and to make recommendations to the Minister on these matters. Wages are determined for agriculture as well as general sector workers by the Agricultural and General Wage Councils constituted under the Labour Institutions Act. Based on the findings of the councils appointed, the minister will then set minimum wage rates. Similar to South Africa, minimum wages vary by occupational sectors, skill levels and geographical areas. The wage councils will take various factors into account when determining what the minimum wage should be. These factors are the needs of the workers, general wage levels of the country as well as the ability of businesses to carry ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Comparing Two Superheroes Research Paper Battle of the Blondes Which is the best superhero? That is a question several people ask and they get several different answers. There is not a single superhero that is better than the rest, because they all have diverse abilities and characteristics, which make them unique. Two of my personal favorite superheroes are Aquaman and Thor. Although they both have similar characteristics they are still distinctively different from one another. (Thesis Statement) Both Aquaman and Thor come from divergent households and backgrounds. Aquaman, also known as Arthur Curry, is the son of Atlan and Atlanna whom ruled over Atlantis. After the tragic death of his parents, Aquaman was evicted and forced to move to the surface. Where he thought of himself a regular human being. After seeing how the surface world trashed and polluted the oceans, he returned to Atlantis where he became the rightful king. Then he swore to protect not only the oceans, but also protect the entire world from devastation. On the other hand, Thor Odinson is the son of Odin and Gaea. Odin, who is lord of the Asgardian gods and Gaea is the goddess of the Earth. Thor was born in a magical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, Thor has the ability to manipulate lightning with his Mjolnir. Resistance and invulnerability are some other abilities which he has helped him in a near ground zero nuclear blast. Not only is Thor invulnerable and can also resist attacks, but he has the power to fly at high velocity. He can fly due to his Mjolnir, which is the source of all his abilities and his ... Additionally, sexual dimorphic features show large variation within and between populations (Keen, 1950; Acsádi, and Nemeskeri, 1970; Workshop of European Anthropologists, 1980; Ubelaker, 1984; Krogman and İşcan, 1986). Some sites on the skull have shown a wide range within sex variation making them less reliable for sex determination. For example, a projecting nuchal crest is typically associated with a male skull but can also appear on a female skull, similarly non projecting nuchal crests, typically associated with a female skull, can also appear on a male skull (Gulekon and Turgut, 2003; Klepinger, 2006). Yet, this and others, are still some of most commonly used sites for sexing. Keen (1950) expressed that because morphology is often related to size and robustness, determining sex is extremely difficult unless extreme features are expressed, such as a very small mastoid process that projects only a small distance for females and a massive mastoid process that projects a great distance from the inferior margins of the skull for males. Furthermore Meindl et al. (1985) and Walker (1995) have discussed that the morphology of sites on the skull of both sexes appear more masculine as the person ages, which would also hinder the accuracy of determining the sex of skeletal remains. Buikstra and Ubelaker (1994, p.16) also caution that estimation of sex can be difficult if the observer is not familiar with the overall pattern ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Form my understanding the Washington Mutual Mortgage scandal, the banks were leading out more money to people that could not afford the loan was an everyday occurrence. In this case it really shows that a lot of the time doing the wrong thing can be a lot easier than doing the right thing. When you really don t have to look at credit scores, and it is a lot easier to give someone something they want when really they can afford. Darley points out when this is a daily happing and the boss tell you to do it, people tend to conform. After enough people conform this becomes a social norm of the work environment. 2. I am Mother Teresa, the founder of the Order of the Missionaries of Charity and Patron Saint for Doubters (Eisenstadt Evans, Mother Teresa s canonization: She is the Patron saint for doubters ). I was born in Skopje, (the capital of the Republic of Macedonia) Albania in 1910. I m a Roman Catholic and from the age of 18 began to study to become a nun in Ireland (Gray, 60). In September of 1946, I received a calling from God saying I had to leave the convent and, help the poor by living among them, (Gray, 60). This led me to Calcutta, India where I founded the Order of the Missionaries of Charity to restore dignity in the souls of the underprivileged, degraded, and ill ( Biography Mother Teresa ). I ve been criticized for my methods of maintaining my centers but have also been awarded the highest honor, the Nobel Peace Prize, in 1979 (Eisenstadt Evans, Mother Teresa s canonization: She is the Patron saint for doubters ). My life being surrounded by such violence has brought me here with you all today. My devotion to helping the helpless and forgiving the unforgivable leads me to believe that all people are embodiments of Christ and deserve to be loved and seen as equals. With this, William Golding is guilty of libel against the human race since all people are born pure and any malevolent acts of violence are results of society s teachings. • 8. Franz Marc Deer Vivid colors, sharp lines and turns, contrast, variety, this painting has it all. It is beautiful and extremely unique, it is whimsical and creative, it is a piece of art that not many of us can understand. When I first looked at Deer in the Forest painted by Franz Marc in 1913, I saw bright colors and a couple deer, I saw trees and an owl. I saw a forest. I could see red, orange, yellow, green, and even shades of blue, there was brown and white, with hints of black and grey. The painting seems flat, there were no three dimensional objects or any painting techniques to make the picture pop out at you. The lines are extremely straight, however, there are some curved lines. Deer in the Forest is an abstract piece. Deer, the deer are the central focus of this painting. They are centrally placed and proportional in size to the rest of the objects in the painting. The contrast of colors is very different in my eyes, I am not used to seeing all of the colors of the rainbow in one picture, it is just odd to me, however, in this situation, I find it very pleasing. To me, the colors are extremely dull, he used the lowest variant of the colors and placed them in a way that made them somewhat pop at your eyes. It catches your attention, in the best way possible. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe Franz Marc was extremely successful in relaying his message to his viewers. His painting is original and unique, it is eye catching and unusual. However, I do not think this is an accurate depiction of the artist skills, I believe he could have done more with the lines and space, he could have brought out the deer more or brightened the hues of the colors, I seems as if it was rushed and he didn t have a plan. I believe he did not have a plan, he just touched the pen to the paper and let it go. Therapists must be genuine, whereby their words, nonverbal mannerisms and feelings are not to be contradicting. In addition, they must also accept the client and show unconditional care towards them. The therapist must understand the client s thoughts, the ideas, experiences, and feelings, when communicating back this empathic understanding (Murdock, 2009). Firstly, congruence (genuineness or realness) refers to the therapist s openness, genuineness and the willingness to relate to clients without hiding behind a professional front. Therapists who conduct sessions with this sincerity in mind have all their feelings available to them in therapy sessions and may share significant emotional reactions with their clients. Different researches have been undertaken by different researchers. Jessica redy wrote in her article about the origin of gypsies, highlighting the richness of this vibrant and normally misunderstood ethnic group. According to her many Roma are imbibed today, some because of the financial support to hide their ethnicity and others because the culture was muffled long ago by genocide or political tragedy, while others quietly preserve their heritage in the privacy of their own homes. This discriminatory attitude of society as well as authorities as led them to wrongfully think that they deserve the life they are living. The mysterious circumstances of gypsies are caused by the abys gap between these communities and government. Their children are bound to labor because of impossibility of the elders to work due to failure of showing their real identity, due to which they cannot get a proper job and have to rely upon meager income. Due to lack of formal education they do not have awareness to descent norms of society; they even considered the legal judicial system bogus. The concept of polygamy is common among them, without considering the just treatment for each wife, they even do not know the total number of their children, which is a screaming testimony of their irresponsible attitude toward their families. These attitudes make them unacceptable for the society, which leads to their marginalization. I hope that by educating myself that it will help to counteract the unintentional biases and judgements that I have learned from breathing in the racist smog that prevails in our society. I chose to watch Remember the Titans for my Immersion One activity. I thought this movie would accurately show the experiences that African Americans have had with racism in the past in our country and that they also still continue to struggle with today. I have watched this movie countless times before but this time when I watched it was different than before. I always knew it was obviously a movie about racism, but I never picked up on tiny parts of the dialogue and certain scenes stood out as much more significant to me than they have in the past. For example, at one point in the movie a brick is thrown through Coach Boone s window while his daughter and Sheryl Yoast are playing in the living room. The next day, Coach Yoast is angry about what happened. He accuses Coach Boone for it being his fault that the brick was thrown through his window because of his sins . Coach Boone is very offended by this and points out that he did not do anything to deserve it and also that maybe now Sheryl has an idea of what his daughters go through every day of their lives. That is exactly what happened when Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria Hungary visited the Balkans and was shot; this sparked World War 1. The killing of the Archduke, however, is not the only reason for World War 1. There were actually four underlying causes that led to World War 1: Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism, and Nationalism. This paper delves into that issue. Insurance Companies and Hurricane Sandy From news reports it would appear that insurance companies did not provide the emergency assistance that victims of Hurricane Sandy had hoped for. This is not to say that all insurance companies failed to deliver the help that their policyholders expected, but clearly some companies failed to deliver, and their efforts were not always in sync with FEMA and the NF Office of Emergency Management. Fletcher Prouty, a retired Air Force Colonel, was in charge promoting military support for the camouflage activities of the CIA during the 1960 s. In this book, Prouty explains the steps involved in planning the assassination. First the conspirators chose Dallas as the site for the murder and selected a skilled group of mechanics . These mechanics are an elite group of sharpshooters that are trained and supported by the CIA. Next, the plotters made certain that routine security measures would be neglected. The dramatic meaning of Black Diggers is communicated to the audience through the effective use of the dramatic element symbol. This is seen when a small list is compiled of Indigenous soldiers, reminiscent to the one at the Australian War memorial. Secondly, use of direct address to the audience developed the viewer s understanding of the dramatic meaning. This is evident as a past soldier is describing the effects of war and his journey through World War I, and speaking as if the audience were at the event. Instead of investing in a single asset, holding a portfolio is obviously less risky. However, how to select the best portfolio among tens of thousands of assets in today s financial market? The stringent need of investors promote the raising of modern portfolio theory. In 1952, Harry Markowitz [1] established the fundamental model of modern portfolio theory: the Markowitz model, also called the mean variance model. This model aimed to achieve a tradeoff between the expected return and the risk of return. As shown in Figure 1, among all efficient portfolios, the efficient frontier consisted of all those with highest return at each given risk level. C_1,C_2,and C_3 were the investors indifference curves which showed that traders prefer portfolios with high return or low risk. The tangent point R of the highest indifference curve and the efficient frontier gave the optimized portfolio. Figure 1: Efficient Portfolio and Trader s Indifference Curve in ... The Finches From The Galapagos Island Change is the key factor in a species survival, whether that change, is being minimal or extremely dramatic, and without change a species have condemned itself to extinction. Animals have learned to adapt to their surroundings in order to survive, and with these adaptation people can witness new breeds added to the spectrum and see them flourish. Breeds can be defined as a stock of animals or plants within a species having a distinctive appearance and typically having been developed by deliberate selection. For example the finches from the Galapagos Island s they are all finches, but they all differed in their appearance, some had smaller others had larger beaks. Charles Darwin studied these Finches and came to discover that the Finches differed in appearance because they had adapted to their environment. The Galápagos finches provide an excellent example of this process. Among the birds that ended up in arid environments, the ones with beaks better suited for eating cactus obtained supplementary food. As a result, they were in healthier condition to mate. Similarly, those with beak shapes that were well suited in getting nectar from flowers or eating thicker shielded seeds in other environments were at an advantage there. In a very real sense, nature selected the best adapted varieties to survive and to reproduce. With his findings throughout the years Darwin formulated his theory of evolution by natural selection, and published his first book entitled, On the Origin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In his novel, Elie s use of symbolism is most important in helping the reader understand the horrors of his experience during the Holocaust. By calling the novel Night it is apparent to the reader that the Holocaust was a dark experience, full of terror and suffering. The entire novel is filled with last nights . Elie witnesses the burning of babies in the beginning of the novel, which is the first time Elie truly understands the severity of the Nazi power. Never shall I forget that smoke. Never shall I forget the small faces of the children whose bodies I saw transformed into smoke under a silent sky, (Wiesel 34). In Judaism, tradition says that the evil and wicked will be condemned to Gehenna and suffer a fiery punishment. However, Elie s experiences reverse what he was taught by his faith. (Burke) This often proves to be true in Thomas Mofolo s novel Chaka. Power is a corruptive concept. If you do not have a genuinely selfless heart, you will become corrupted by your own power, which often happened to those of power in this novel. However, even though power is often seen as having influence over others, power can also be distinctly self centered. The North American Wood Frog, for example, shuts down its entire body system in winter; its heart stops beating and its whole body is frozen, until summer returns; at which point it thaws and comes back to life 4 . What is now becoming clear is that there is a technology available for humans that imitates this process. What if we, like the frog, could be frozen until a period of time in which developing technology could cure our ailments, prolong our lives, and possibly allow us to live forever? In section 2 I will discuss the definition of the term death , and how the prospect of cryonic revival affects this definition. If we were to redefine death , this would have implications for how we treat the dead. If there is even a miniscule possibility for revival, burying our dead could be seen as tantamount to murder. The United States Supreme Court Acclaim for asserting the United States Supreme Court as a substantial participant in the American structure of government has been ascribed to the guidance of John Marshall as Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court from 1801 to 1835. By 1835, the Supreme Court had attained a level of equality with the prowess and prestige as that of Congress and the Executive that was not present before John Marshall was appointed to the position. Central to this development was the Court s adoption of the Constitution as its distinct reserve. Chief Justice John Marshall utilized judicial review to eliminate the Supreme Court from the socio political conflicts in government and to institute the rule of law based on the principles established in the Constitution of the Unites States. Marshall and his colleagues erected the Court s recognized power by effectively affirming an assertion to explain the Constitution and subsequently supplant the Constitution as supreme law in the commonplace sequence of arbitration and by the end of his judgeship firmly supplanted the Supreme Court s role in the U.S. system of government. John James Marshall came into this world on September 24, 1755 in a small cabin built of logs near a small rural community in Virginia known as Germantown. Delay Analysis Of Networked Control System Essay Delay Analysis Of Networked Control System Abstract Networked Control Systems (NCS) are the control systems in which the control loops are closed through a communication network. In recent years, the use of Network Control System (NCS) have gained increasing attentions due to their cost effective and flexible applications. But one of the major challenges that need to be tackle in NCS is the delay of the data transmission which occurs throughout the communication network and thus degrades the control system performance and also causes the system instability. Therefore, this paper presents an analysis of network delay in NCS. In this paper, we have designed a model of delay control system for network induced delay using the simulation model of network control system delay and thus analysed the effect of network delay on the performance of the control system . The TrueTime simulator is used in this work. Keywords networked control system, network delay, control performance, truetime, stability I.INTRODUCTION In conventional control systems, control signals are sent over the loop using analog or digital technology, while in modern computer control systems, the control loop is almost entirely closed over a communication network . Advantages And Disadvantages Of Voltage-Source Inverter Abstract The Z Source Inverter (ZSI) overcomes the disadvantages of the traditional Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) and Current Source Inverter (CSI), it can buck and boost its output voltage by utilizing the shoot through state which is forbidden in traditional VSI. Different PWM techniques are available for the control of Z Source Inverters. In the traditional PWM technique equal shoot through time interval is considered for the three phase legs. It has been shown to generate less harmonic distortion in the output voltages and or currents applied to the phases of an AC motor and to provide more efficient use of supply voltage compared with sinusoidal modulation technique. The biggest difference from other PWM methods is that the SVPWM uses a vector as a reference. This gives the advantage of a better overview of the system. Out of the 8 possible switching states, two are zero switching states and six are active switching states. These are represented by active (V1 V6) and zero (V0) vectors. Six nonzero vectors (V1 V6) shape the axes of a hexagonal and feed electric power to the load. The angle between any adjacent two non zero vectors is 60 degrees. Taking place during the late eighteenth century, each molded different parts of Europe and had different social ramifications. The Industrial Revolution began in the late 1700 s and was the beginning of new innovations along with manufacturing processes. The French Revolution began during the year 1789, with two sides of the population fighting either for or against the monarchy. The French Revolution ended ten years later during the year 1799 with the French overthrowing the monarchy and starting their own form of government. While both revolutions have had a huge impact on modern day Europe, the innovations along with the social changes that occurred during the Industrial Revolution make it more significant than the French Revolution. • 44. Canine s Thyroid Disease There are diseases in which an animal s body does not function properly. Companion animals whose body produce excess amounts of thyroxin (T3 T4), a thyroid hormone from the thyroid gland, is diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism, also called thyrotoxicosis. This disease is not recognized in livestock like in companion pets. Felines who are adult age are the companion animal designated to contract this disease. Canine s thyroid composition can handle and dispose of any excessive hormone surplus, so hyperthyroidism symptoms only occur when a tumor is present. Signs of the disease are hyperexcitability, vomiting, diarrhea, increased thirst, increased urination, and weight loss even with increased appetite. The hyperthyroidism is diagnosed by clinical signs, symptoms, and blood tests to check hormone levels and chemistry panels. Surgery to remove the thyroid is a cure to eliminate hyperthyroidism, but a thyroidectomy will require hormone medication for the rest of the animal s life. As with any surgery with anesthesia, there is a risk, and since the parathyroid gland is in close proximity to the thyroid gland, care must be taken to not damage the parathyroid gland. Medication to control the production of excess T3 and T4 hormone is a treatment, not a cure for the disease. However, if the animal has side effects which have to be dealt with, daily dosing of anti thyroid medication, and veterinarian visits for blood tests fall to the responsibility of the owner. Radioactive iodine therapy is a safe, effective way to kill the thyroid abnormal tissue, providing another cure for hyperthyroidism. An injection of the radioactive iodine is performed by the veterinarian and the iodine is engrossed by the bloodstream, with no adverse side effects or the risk of anesthesia. • 45. Heroic Ignorance And Gothic Novels By Jane Austen Heroic Ignorance and Gothic Novels Jane Austen s novel, Northanger Abbey, seeks to explore the effect of wealth on society. Throughout the novel, this portrayal of wealth assumes an increasingly critical tone, and is thus used to suggest the negative impact of financial goals in a relationship. This is shown in the contrast between Catherine s relationship with Mr. Tilney, and Isabella s promiscuous ways. In this dynamic, Catherine remains pure, engaged to a poor clergyman, whereas her friend Isabella ensnares men in the hopes of gaining wealth and societal status. Through this dynamic, Austen provides an example of the British Romantic ideal that both love and the individual are only pure and righteous when freed from the constraints of society and affluence. Ironically, the Gothic novels that were prevalent in the later part of the British Romantic Period are frequently cited as a source of misfortune throughout the novel. Catherine, who is portrayed as good and pure, is misled into believing that the stories spun in Gothic novels are applicable to her own life. Her friend, Isabella, is also portrayed as a lover of the genre, which is Austen s way of hinting at Isabella s future sins. Although the Gothics influence both Catherine and Isabella, Austen portrays the characters as opposites one the promiscuous villain and one the victim of the heroic tale. Austen continuously comments on the nature of heroism, and thus mocks the timid Catherine while ironically branding her a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
