The Importance Of Clinical Audit
The aim of the Nursing and midwifery council is to regulate nurses and midwives in England, Wales,
Scotland and Northern Ireland.(Nursing and Midwifery Council, 2016). The NMC is set to protect the
public and to represent and campaign on behalf of nurses and midwives. (Nursing and Midwifery
Council, 2016). Furthermore the NMC regulates healthcare setting and hospitals, regulates healthcare
assistants and also set staffing level to ensure high quality of care the first time round for service users.
(Nursing and Midwifery Council, 2016).
Clinical Audit was introduced to the NHS in 1993. The 1997 White Paper The New NHS reinforced
the position of Clinical Audit as an essential element of professional practice in the health service.
(Dartford and Gravesham NHS trust, 2017).Clinical audit is a way to find out if healthcare is being
provided in line with standards and care providers and patients know where their service is doing well,
and where there could be improvements.Clinical audits play a part in implementing clinical
standards, clinical guidelines and evidence based medicines. The NHS England however defines
clinical audit as a way to find out if healthcare is being provided in line with standards and let s care
providers and patients know where their service is doing well, and where there could be
improvements. (NHS England, 2016) The aim of clinical audit is to allow quality improvement to take
place where it will be most helpful and will improve outcomes for service users

A Study On Annan Academy s Geography Class
Carlisle is the only city in Cumbria, automatically making it the administrative centre of the county.
Other than administration, Carlisle has several other areas in which its activities are focused, such as
tourism, shopping, and education. These areas are known as settlement functions. Functions tend to
change and develop as a city grows over the years. Carlisle is a successful city, but whether or not this
is due to its changing functions is debatable.
Annan Academy s Geography class went to Carlisle in September 2015 to obtain primary research
data of the city s geographical issues.
Method 1
In order to figure out some of the current main functions of Carlisle, the first research method used for
this report was two RICEPOTS surveys of different areas in Carlisle the CBD (the square near the
Tourist Information Centre) and the area from West Tower Street to Corporation Road. These areas
were chosen to display a contrast in the land usage of two areas of Carlisle which are close together.
The RICEPOTS surveys were completed by walking around the areas and annotating a map with the
purpose of each building in the area. Once both maps were annotated, the information was put into a
table before being compiled into a comparative bar graph (see: Graph 1).
The results show that West Tower Street to Corporation Road is largely residential, with 35 terraced
houses, and that the square near the Tourist Information Centre is largely commercial with 47
specialist shops

William Paley s Argument For The Existence Of God
A design argument is more commonly know as a Teleological one, which is an argument for the
existence of a creator or god based on perceived evidence of deliberate design in the natural or
physical world .The argument has been discussed all the way back to the time of Socrates and Plato.
In my essay I will be evaluating one argument put forward by a famous philosopher, in this case
William Paley, an English clergyman born in 1743, in which he tries to show similarities in the design
of nature and the design of man made artefacts.
William Paley s Theological argument for the existence of God raises quite a few questions from the
offset of Paley s book Natural Theology. The first piece of evidence that he uses to argue his point is
his analogy of him stumbling upon a stone in a field and wondering how it came to be there , Paley
states that he could argue that it would be acceptable to believe that the stone had stayed there forever
due to the fact he has no prior knowledge of how it came to be there. Paley shows us that we as
humans take a lot of things for granted in our lives due to the fact that we have ... Show more content

would seem to suggest many gods are involved in universe making this is an interesting point which
does hurt Paley s analogy because he did believe in a benevolent God and the idea of any Gods
helping each other to create the universe or even the possibility of multiple Gods would mean that
there was no benevolent God because one could not create the world on its own. This is a very
important question because it endangers Paley s argument and from reading the chapters on the design
argument in paley sI do not believe Paley takes in to account the possibility of more than one God
existing and because of this I believe he ignores a serious way to disprove his own

The Themes Of Sexuality In The Odd Couple By Neil Simon
Sexuality is very difficult to write about, and only the greatest can tackle this class without making the
subject cliche. Neil Simon spent the majority of his life composing plays and making himself as one
of America s greatest authors. With his lifelong commitment to writing came the establishment of
many different themes throughout his works. In The Odd Couple, Simon uses the bonds between the
characters and subtext to display the difficulties of sexuality as well as the progression made through
change. Felix and Oscar, the main characters of The Odd Couple, have long been thought to be
homosexual by readers and critics, yet many are not sure about this idea. The main reason to believe
that the two are gay is that Oscar Madison is a self assured slob, Felix Ungar a sexually inhibited,
obsessively neat neurotic (Teachout). Of course, with this belief that the two may have a more than
platonic relationship comes the skepticism of others. The show itself was set during a time where
many were not openly homosexual, and the two men were once married. This fact dissuades many
from believing the idea that the characters are closeted gay men. Although many do disagree with the
fact that there is queer subtext in the show, it is rather evident if looked at through the perspective of
the men being homosexual. Although there are many skepticisms about the characters sexuality, it can
be shown through the words they say and what they mean that the men have deeper feelings. A

Media Violence Essay
There has been far reaching research on the link between televised violence and violent behavior
amongst adolescents. Current studies have shown a direct correlation between aggressive conduct and
watching violence depicted in many media services and suggest that media is a variable that put
children at risk of aggressive behavior (Huesmann, Moise Titus, Podolski, Eron, 1992). According to
the American Psychological Association, watching playing violent scenes them on games and
television, can desensitize children to the suffering and pain of others and may be a greater risk of
acting aggressively toward others and they re less bothered by violence in general and less likely to
see anything wrong with it. Studies disclose that children ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many argue that media violence is at least partly to blame for the school shootings in Littleton,
Colorado, Taber, Alberta and Erfurt, Germany.
Proponents of the idea that violence depicted on both television and video games affects the behavior
of children state that, contrary to other beliefs, these scenes teach a higher sense of the justification of
the use of violence in different situations (Tompkins, 2003). It teaches that violence is a correct avenue
to solve differences, which is not an acceptable action within real life situations. The classic setting of
using violence for a virtuous cause may interpret in daily life into a validation for using violence to
even the score against supposed victimizers. Consequently, defenseless youth who have been
maltreated may be tempted to use aggressive means to resolve problems.
The hero in most of these scenes also teaches them that violence has no consequences because he/she
never gets in trouble for their actions. Most psychologists agree that experiences teach children during
their early years and have a longstanding effect on their lives. Toddlers between the ages of eighteen
to sixteen months are intelligent enough to comprehend the significance of the programs (Tompkins,
2003) that they watch and respond in the same manner to both actual and acted violence since their
link between dream and actuality is still not strong. Furthermore, toddlers between the ages of three
and five years are

Cyber Security And The Internet Essay
The recent trend in the global business has been largely driven by the mechanism of the internet and
more broadly the cyberspace. This has created a more elaborate platform for all business activities to
be coordinated through an information system protocols. The information system is the management
of the information data base of an organization or an institution. Information is assumed to be a
significant asset, organisations strive to gather, retain and protect their valuable intellectual property to
place them in a prominent business platform over their competitors.
The proficiency and efficacy of the cyberspace in its application in accounting, finance, system
designs, manufacturing etc., cannot be denied nor neglected. The reality of the twenty first century is
simple; no organization can survive without the adoption and implementation of the mechanism of
information technology to their area of business. On the contrary perspective, there are several
challenges that are associated with the cyberspace, among which is majorly cyber security. Recently
the hackers activity has really skyrocketed and has become a major concern for organizations, states
and federal governments and even international organizations. Several regulatory schemes are put in
place to mitigate the activities of hackers across the globe.

Rational Choice Theory On Alcohol And Violence
Alcohol is highly used substance across the country and the most frequent cause of criminal acts, but
cannot be the sole reason for the cause of criminal acts when an individual s background has a
contributing factor. To understand alcohol related violence we must know the potential crimes that can
be a product of alcohol and what contributing factors lead the actor to the incident. One must also
understand how alcohol related violence is a rational choice of the individual and society s belief that
we suffer the appropriate consequences of our own actions. Therefore, Rational Choice Theory is
applied to the laws that govern criminal acts when the actor had the choice to act as society expects.
Many critics of RCT believe that punishment is not always the answer and that offenders have
environmental and medical factors that cause their criminal behavior. Theorist that believe in the
Positivism Theory believe there is a reason for the offense and the behavior can be corrected. Each are
different in views, but both hold the offender accountable.
ALCOHOL RELATED VIOLENCE
Alcohol use and violence are common in our society because many participate in drinking as a social
activity, whether it is casual or frequent. Alcohol related violence happens when an individual has
consumed an amount to cause his or her actions to become uncontrollable and resulting in a criminal
act being committed. (National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, 1997) Understanding the

Lord Of The Flies Piggy Character Analysis
Piggy is one of the main characters in Lord of the Flies. He is a timid, lazy boy, mainly recognized by
his asthma, glasses and fat body. I will look at the way Golding uses Piggy to explore different
concepts, including civilization, isolation and social order.
Piggy is probably the most civilized character in the book; even as the others begin to lose their
morality, he sustains a sense of community and basic ethic. In the first chapter, he suggests using the
conch to call other victims of the plane crash. This was a crucial part of the boys coming together and
finding each other on the island and maintains basis for the actual plot of the book. Also, Piggy
repeatedly compares the boys to children, for example, like a pack of kids . This simile highlights the
effect of irony because they are, of course, kids, but it shows that Piggy does not regard himself as a
child. He believes that the other boys act immature and has decidedly set himself apart from their
behaviour. As well as this, Piggy is always found holding the conch; he caressed the conch
respectfully . He relies on it to uphold a community wide sense of civilization, and comfort himself in
the way that he can revert back to the rules on holding the conch while speaking when he is being
interrupted. For instance, on page 42, Piggy says, I got the conch. You let me speak! . This is very
important because it demonstrates the symbolism of the conch as an object of society, and how much
he considers its moral and societal value.
As well as this, Piggy is a pariah in the book. The boys dislike him a lot and hold very little respect for
him this is said quite bluntly in Chapter 5, Piggy was an outsider . Despite his intelligence often being
of use to them, they tend to disregard his contributions to the group. One example of this is when
Ralph pushed Piggy on one side when he was trying to speak. This can be seen as both a literal and
metaphorical representation of how Piggy is treated. What is meant by the quote is that Ralph
physically pushed him aside, however it can be interpreted that Ralph and the boys not only shove
Piggy around physically, but they also bully him verbally and overlook his advice and opinions. He
has a tremendous lack of

Thus, the true culture of the organization cannot be understood by solely looking at the artifacts. To
understand more, it is necessary to look at the next level. Espoused beliefs and values are goals,
values, aspirations and ideologies shared by everyone in an organization. Normally, these values are
laid down by the leaders or founders of the organization (Schein, 2010, p.25). However, espoused
beliefs and values can sometimes be mutually contradictory (Schein, 2010, p.27). Thus, the
organization s culture is only understood just on the surface level. Basic underlying assumptions,
which are unconscious and taken for granted beliefs and values provides for a deeper understanding of
an organization s culture. Schein concluded that the essence of a culture lies in the pattern of basic
underlying assumptions (Schein, 2010, p.32). If the basic underlying assumptions are not deciphered,
it will be hard to understand the artifacts and espoused beliefs and values correctly. As Schein (2010,
p.32) himself had concluded, any group s culture can be studied at the three levels. The three levels of
culture allows for an analysis of Pixar s organizational cultural from an observational level.
Information can be readily drawn from business reviews, news articles on Pixar, interviews with Pixar
s employees and Pixar s website, thus making Edgar Schein s three levels of culture an ideal model for
analysis of Pixar s culture.

Detrimental Effects Of War In A Separate Peace
World War II was a very life changing event that demonstrated how much friendships and everyday
people could change due to war. One particular novel set during the era of this war proves this point
well. In the novel, A Separate Peace by John Knowles, Gene, Finny, and Leper have their own distinct
symbols. Gene symbolizes envy and jealousy, Finny embodies kindness and hope, and Leper
symbolizes the detrimental effects of war. Throughout the novel, Gene symbolizes envy and jealousy,
especially towards Finny. In the middle of chapter 2, Finny and Gene were discussing the recent air
raid on Central Europe. Finny brings up that they should celebrate and then mentioned that he would
wear a flag. Gene was surprised that he went through with it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In chapter 10, the effects of war towards leper are clearly shown when he goes off on Gene and
eventually gets pushed out of his chair: Laughing and crying he lay with his head on the floor and his
knees up, [. . .] always were a savage underneath. (145). Clearly, this passage shows how Leper was
affected from the war. Even though he doesn t admit it, his body language when he is kicked to the
ground could be described as psychotic. Leper wasn t like this at all before the war. He was more like
an outcast. In addition, in chapter 10 when Gene is visiting Leper after he escaped from the war, Leper
tells him about what he would ve been in if he han t escaped: A Section Eight Discharge is for the nuts
in the service, the psychos, the funny farm candidates. (144). In this passage, Leper reveals why he
escaped from the war. He wanted to avoid the discharge for the crazy people even though he was one.
There was definitely a massive change in Leper from the war. In chapter 11, during the trial Leper
flashbacked to memories of the war even though he wasn t involved in heavy conflict: [. . .] and the
rays of the sun were shooting past them, millions of rays shooting past them like like golden machine
gun fire (174). Here, Leper was intimidated by the trial and eventually reflected back to his memories.
Leper never saw that kind of conflict in the military but the scars

Kharkov Battle Analysis
The capture of the Kharkov region and the movement of panzer units prompted Marshal Gerorgi
Zhukov to deploy troops near Kharkov in an attempt to defend against further movement of German
forces. With the German Army Group Center and Army Group South so close together, it was as
apparent to the Russians as it was to the Germans that Kursk was going to be attacked. Zhukov,
therefore, argued for a cautious defensive measure towards Kursk; I do not consider it necessary for
our troops to mount a preventive offensive in the next few days. It will be better if we wear the enemy
out in defensive action. This opinion was shared by Lieutenant General Mikhail Malinin, Chief of
Staff of the Central Front, where he advised the Stavka (Russian high command) to create strategic
reserves and deploy them along the front. These defensive measures were taken where Zhukov wanted
to meet the German offensive with fire of all weapons from the deeply echeloned defences, with
powerful blows from the air and counter blows by operational and strategic reserves. The response to

Sudden Anger and Founding a Partial Defense to Murder Essay
Sudden Anger and Founding a Partial Defense to Murder Provocation acts as a partial defence to
murder, but only to reduce the conviction to manslaughter. The defence of provocation only becomes
relevant when the prosecution can show evidence that proves that the defendant killed the victim with
the necessary mens rea for murder, that is an intention to kill or an intention to cause grievously bodily
harm .1 If the jury accepts that the defendant may have been provoked to lose his self control and that
a reasonable person may have been provoked to lose his self control and do so as the defendant, they
must acquit of murder and convict of manslaughter. This is known as the subjective and objective ...

The alleged provocation was that a neighbour she was visiting produced a knife but not in a
threatening way, but enough so to make her lose her self control, she then snatched the knife and
stabbed the neighbour to death. The Court of Appeal agreed that it was very difficult in such a case to
distinguish between the gravity of the provocation and the accused s capacity for self control which
had been affected by the psychological stress of the violence she had suffered . Tipping J., giving one
of the majority judgments which held that the New Zealand statute on provocation (section 169 of the

Change In Mauro Senesi s Short Story The Giraffe
The moral of Mauro Senesi s short story, The Giraffe is that change is not widely accepted, even if it
will bring good. Many people assume change is bad, because it takes away familiarity and because
change is uncertain. In this short story, the group of boys who lead the Giraffe around town, act as
those who are willing to accept and take the risk of allowing change, whereas the rest of the town
reject change by not giving the Giraffe a chance to prove its worth. I believe Mauro Sensi intentionally
created a close relationship between the boys and the Giraffe because the purpose of the Giraffe, was
to act as a role model for the boys. By giving the Giraffe human characteristics, Senesi gives the boys

Marketing Research Case Study: Sperry/MacLennan Architects and Planners

Marketing Research can be designed for many scenarios. It is often referenced in existing companies
to understand how clients purchase their product, competition or how to best communicate with the
audience. This type of research is also necessary in a successful world wide expansion as it provides a
company with a blue print of how to grow. This paper will examine a global expansion case study and
how to perform marketing research in a global economy.

Key Issues
When a company desires to expand globally, there are several business decisions to make. The
physical expansion can often enough be one of the greatest initial challenges, but then it is followed
by cultural adjustments, new laws and borders. In the case study of the Sperry/MacLennan
Architecture firm, the company s desire to globally expand could present problems to implement as by
not considering other key markets.
The architecture firm is focused on growth and desires to design two sports facilities per year post
expansion. Often when companies are in a major expansion time, they may not take the necessary
steps to fully research all options. The Sperry/MacLennan Firm is no exception to this. The company
desires to jump on what seems to be a great opportunity, however, may not be investing in the
necessary resources to research it properly. Other markets that should be up for consideration are parts
of Europe or other areas within the United States (McDaniel, Jr, 2007).
The United States is one of the largest economies in the world. When the country thrives, there is great
opportunity and when the country is pained with recession the entire world feels it. A potential
challenge in expanding into the United States would be finding opportunities to build. The company
has chosen to focus on sports facilities, and within the new target market they see great

Comparing Krapp s Last Tape And Embers By Samuel Beckett
Suffering: an endless cycle Through the pieces of Krapp s Last Tape and Embers, playwright Samuel
Beckett explores the infallibility of memory and language. Beckett spent time in WWII as a member
of the French Resistance. His duty as part of the resistance was to type and translate information about
the Germans. World War II s influence on Beckett s writing comes through the character s inability to
articulate the conscious self in the language one wishes to express themselves in. To escape the
constrictions of language, Beckett became a playwright. Beckett asks the reader to grapple with their
own existence and their reliance on memory through Krapp, who is unable to remember his past, and
Henry who is unable to forget. With this reliance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a person refuses to see another person, does that person cease to exist? The obvious answer is of
course not. Closing your eyes to someone doesn t make them disappear to the world. They disappear
in your world. So it is essentially becoming nonexistent. This reminds me of a How I Met Your
Mother episode, the one where Lily tells people, You re dead to me and they make the person she s
looking at blow up and vanish. Or the saying if a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it
does it still make a sound. Rational thought knows that just because a person states You re dead to me
that they re still alive and very much there, but they also know the feeling of being invisible and
nonexistent to someone. Henry was locked out emotionally from his father, and felt the pain of being
invisible. His father retracted Henry s existence and Embers seems to be about his trying to reclaim
his life without success. He perpetuated his father s attitude towards him. No matter what he tried to

Magic Realism In A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings

A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings is written by Gabriel García Márquez. He was a Colombian
novelist and short story writer who is known throughout Latin America. He is the father of the Magic

García Márquez started as a journalist, and wrote many non fiction works, but he is famous for his

Lakota Sioux Book Review
A significant part of the mainstream comprehension of the Plains Indians is in view of the far reaching
and omnipresent writing on Lakota Sioux. Different tribes, for example, the Crows (Absarokee), the
Arapaho, or Gros Ventres have a tendency to be disregarded. Particularly, Crows. These lovely
individuals were THE primary adversary of the Lakota and albeit simply a small amount of their

Driverless Cars In The Future
In the United States, driver error is the primary factor to blame for automobile deaths. According to
the National Safety Council, in 2015, over thirty eight thousand people died in car crashes. On
average, that is 194 people killed a day. It is unacceptable to lose so many lives each year to this
tragedy. Unfortunately, society has accepted this as the price of convenient transportation. However,
there is an alternative. In recent years, the feasibility of affordable driverless cars is becoming a
reality. The pace of current progress points to a future where driverless cars will replace humans at the
wheel. Corporations like Google and Tesla are road testing autonomous vehicles. Google s driverless
cars have completed over 2 million miles of autonomous driving on California roads. Tesla s vehicles

deaths from car accidents cost society nearly 900 billion a year. As driverless cars become more

2.1 Research and Report on Rapid Interface Design Tools
Introduction
A rapid prototype is defined as a 3D model generated rapidly with the help of Computer Aided Design
(CAD) drawing. The process of creating such a masterpiece requires a number of prerequisites to be
fulfilled on the onset of creating the 3D model. The various portions of the model are built layer after
layer. The processes involved in the creation process include solid ground curing; selective laser
sintering, fused deposition modelling, and stereo lithography.
Rapid Prototyping Tools
There is a wide array of rapid prototyping software available in the market today. They range from
WebZap, Balsamiq, Pencil and paper, all the way to Bootstrap. In this assignment, special focus will
be given to the review of Bootstrap.

The Process Of Performance Management
2.4. The process of Performance Management 2.4.1. Defining the process 2.4.2.Strategic Planning The
starting point for performance management falls into strategic planning. It is the stage that defines the
strategic objectives and priorities on which the organisation should concentrate. They set out the
activities on which the organisation should focus, and formulate the basis for creating more specific
targets (the strategic objectives). The mission and strategic objectives of the organisation should be the
ones that can be agreed not only by the individual members of the organisation, but also by the
customers of the organisation. It would be best if the representatives of the public participated in the
process of setting objectives and targets, but it seems that normally ministers responsible to Parliament
play a significant role in the process of setting objectives and targets. The missions and strategic
objectives should reflect the core value of what the organisation pursues by considering all the
activities and functions of the organisation. As found in the cases of many countries, neither
Parliament nor the National Assembly intervenes in defining the missions and strategic objectives,
whilst they usually do intervene in the evaluation of performance. They should be able to show the
outcomes, which will eventually come true by the expenditure from the taxpayers money. The
organisational mission is not changed frequently, unless there is a significant change

The film 2081 directed by Chandler Tuttle is an adaption of the short story Harrison Bergeron by Kurt

After Harrison got shot on television, George is left with sadness of his son s death but immediately
forgets about it after the headphone rings. The overall effect of this scene is to challenge our moral of
parent s responsibility of a child and also create a sense of imprisonment. The scene starts with a mid
shot of George which show his expression of sadness towards his son s death on the television. Then
the diegetic sounds of the headphone come in to interrupt his thoughts. The diegetic sounds combines
with jump cuts create the effect of memories and thoughts scattering away. We can see George s pain
from the sound alternating with flashback of Harrison being taken away. Tuttle wanted to emphasises
to the audience again that in order to achieves perfect equality, this is how absurd the world will be.
Parent s will have to forget that children s death right in front of their eyes or how the government is
shooting innocence people on television. The following shots create a contrast between George and
Hazel. When we see George in a full shot, the composition on the frame has the right half and the top
part covered. This works with lead lines to show George s imprisonment and how is his confine to

College Students Are Right To Crack Down On Speech And...
Eric Posner argues that college students are not mature and educated enough to handle freedom of
speech. In his essay Universities Are Right to Crack Down on Speech and Behavior he uses ways to
support that students are not ready to perform freedom of speech. He states how there have been rules
applied to decrease speech on students in a school setting. Posner also comments that students do not
know anything and that is reason Posner provides to explain that college students are not ready to
enter the real world. The speech of students is being limited by the professors while in class

they enter college then that means that they need some sort of education to have freedom of speech

The Issue Of Mineral Rights Essay
As a first time homebuyer in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, I thought I had very carefully prepared
myself for all that the process would involve, including gathering income and financial
documentation, qualifying for a mortgage, arranging for a thorough inspection, evaluating needs and
desires from a home and finding a reputable agent to represent my interests. One area I never
considered, however, was the issue of mineral rights. To be perfectly honest, although I d heard the
term, I d never given consideration to what it actually meant. But that all changed in the middle of my
home buying process and I d like to share with you the knowledge I ve gained through extensive
research I completed to protect my own rights and the rights I would possess as a soon to be
homeowner. According to property law, two different forms of rights exist in any real property:
surface rights and mineral rights. Surface rights refer to any structure erected above the surface or sub
surface structures that do not exceed a certain depth, as well as rights to use all surface property
surrounding structures in accordance with zoning ordinances. Mineral rights refer to mineral
substances below a certain depth and the way in which they are preserved, explored or extracted.
These mineral substances can include natural gas, oil, or any other substance in common use today
that can be mined or otherwise extracted from below the surface. Local laws set the depth below

The scene I have chosen is a bit more than midway through the book, page 180 exactly. I chose this
excerpt because I believe it is a true display of thematic ideas of manipulation and politics, with a
small touch on the theme of religion. This passage is all about Rasputin s political power through ties
to the royal family and his skill in manipulation. In this passage, Rasputin is attempting to instate a
friend, Alexander Protopopov, the Duma s vice president, as minister of interior. Of course he need to

various ways I can improve my learning. I will also explain my weaker learning style and express the

Late Modern English, a global language spoken around the world by over 2 billion people can trace its
roots to the Germanic language introduced by Anglo Saxon invaders in the 5th century. Before the
arrival of the Anglo Saxons, many parts of Britain were bilingual Celtic Latin speakers, although very
few traces of Celtic remain in the English language other than in place names, for example Avon and
Ouse which derive from the Celtic word for water , and words found more in local dialects than
mainstream English for example broc for badger. The Germanic languages of the Anglo Saxons
themselves evolved as a result of centuries of Roman occupation and interaction among different

Following the Norman Conquest, many words were borrowed from French. These words tend to
demonstrate the difference in status between the language of the conquerors, and that of the
conquered. The English words that remain are those of the lower classes in terms of clothing shirt
rather than apparel , for food sheep compared to mutton . In more modern times the interaction of
English speakers with other languages, through first colonialism, and later the emergence of English
as a global language has enriched the vocabulary ( pyjama ) and led to the evolution of different
versions of English around the world, for example the hybrid Singlish that has emerged in Singapore.
The integration of loan words into English were also a reflection of how the language was used;
French was the language of court government and law, and many words used in these contexts are
borrowed from French for example accuse justice and crime. Returning to the Genesis texts, changes

In the year 2017 morals have changed all around the world and young people are growing up quicker
than they have ever before. As children grow up parents try to build their foundation with stable and
decent examples. Children love watching movies and are quick to learn and pick up on the characters

without realizing that they contain messages for children that are inadequate for them. Specifically,
The Little Mermaid sends messages to children that could frame their beliefs on how maturing works

She then travels to the surface of the water where she first sees Eric and instantly falls in love. Ariel
creates this separation between her dad by going behind his back. This message is for the adults
because with an oppressive relationship children are likely to rebel. Since mostly young girls watch

something that they want.
The Disney story lacks feminism and the maturity level needed for young girls in 2017. When King

independent from their parents by becoming dependent on someone else , while in Andersen s story

This is around the time the accusations began. The girls started calling out other girl s names and the
townspeople being as naive as they were took the girls to jail (Douglas, 2013). The judge was
following what he thought God would have wanted and didn t give the girl s a chance to speak against
the fact that they didn t do witchcraft. They hung 20 girls and 200 more men and women were accused
of witchcraft due to the hysteria the town had been experiencing (Douglas, 2013). Throughout the
trials, the townspeople s opinions began to get in the way of making accused people s statements
valid. Some accused confessed to save themselves (Hansen, 1969). Others gave their lives to save the
innocent people accused of such a treacherous crime. Giles Corey, one of the people whose wife was
accused, was pressed to death using stones because he would not tell the court anything to send his
wife to death. Several years later the court ruled the trials as unlawful. The judge apologized for the
public display of unlawful injustices. Damages to the community stayed in a turmoil and it took a long
time to get over what had happened to the people and town of

Nebraska State Budget
Assignment 4.2
Abstract
The State of Nebraska has a biennium budget that is set from 2013 all the way to 2015. Knowing what
is in your budget and how to properly gauge what will be needed for the coming two years in each
department is an important aspect to a successful budget. The person in charge of the budget for each
department needs to know how to properly budget and respond to the needs of the state in the most
fiscal way possible. A budget is only as good as the person who is running it. The Nebraska State
budget is complex, but with the right amount of team work and dedication, it seems to run very
smoothly.
Nebraska State Budget The Nebraska State budget is set on a biennium basis. Since this is the case the
budget will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It gives a broad overview of the total estimated costs of all the areas that are being run in the state. The
appropriations that are shown in the 2012 13 current fiscal year are those adopted by 2011 regular
session and were further broken down during the 2011 special session of the 102nd legislature. The
Governor s budget recommendations for FY 2013 14 expect a general fund increase by four point nine
percent over the two year period. By doing this the Governor is exceeding the minimum reserve
requirement of fourteen point eight million for the next biennium. This type of foreshadowing is what
is helping Nebraska to look at the overall big picture and to try and stay within the state allowable
budget as closely as possible. The planning even estimates all the way into the 2015 17 biennium that
would set the future growth at five percent and also leave a General Fund balance in excess of the
minimum reserve requirement (Heineman, 2013).
Revenue Generation, Expenditures, and Services The State of Nebraska does a good job of showing
what the state s budget is being spent on and to which programs the money for the state is going.
When looking at the state s budget there are several items that have been considered for the biennium.
The State of Nebraska sets its recommendations by each functional area that are broken down into
general government, agriculture, environment and natural resources, economic development, human
resources development,

How to Answer Law Questions
Lecturer s expectations In this section, one of your lecturers Loretta Inglis sets out what she expects
from student assignments on this topic. I expect that you will read all the information that has been
given in the subject outline to help you to write the case study. There is a wealth of information there.
Ideally, I expect consistent quality throughout all the sections of the report. You need to leave enough
time to plan and write each section carefully. I expect that your Problem Identification section will
succinctly identify problems (not just repeat case information), explain the problems using case
evidence, and show how the theory relates to the problem. Possible Solutions should have clear,
concise headings and include ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It should be possible to read every page without undoing any fastenings. Every assignment must be
clearly identified. The following details must be on the front of all assignments: Name: Student
Number: Assignment Name: Subject Code/Name: Lecturer/Tutor: Due Date: Date Submitted: It is
recommended that students KEEP A COPY OF ALL WORK SUBMITTED. While it is extremely rare
for student work to be misplaced, it does sometimes occur. The onus is on you to prove that a piece of
work was submitted. Grammar, spelling and punctuation are matters which should not be neglected.
Failure to take care of these matters causes confusion and ambiguity. Ask someone to read and
comment critically on your work prior to submitting it; can they understand what you are trying to
say? If not, rewrite it! Problem solving case format for presentation 1. Title Page 2. Table of Contents
3. Executive Summary This section should comprise a brief overview of the case, giving a brief
background and noting any important assumptions made. (You will not have all the information you
would like so you may need to make some assumptions). As well as this, you should give a synopsis
of your case report, noting very briefly the major problems identified and the recommended solutions.
One page is enough. 4. Problem Identification and Analysis In this section you should identify all the
major problems in the case in behavioural terms, i.e. in Management/OB related terms (it is not a

Personal Narrative At Plastics And Hand Surgical Associates
For my clinicals at Plastics and Hand Surgical Associates last Tuesday I was able to perform a variety
of tasks and meet another one of the other working physicians. The tasks I performed were the
following: taking patient s BP, filling syringes with Botox, filling a syringe with a combination of
different medications for arthritis, filling syringes for a few trigger fingers and I was able to bring a
sample down to pathology and have it biopsied.
The doctor I met was Dr. Maddali. Dr. Maddali is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and
is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. He is on the
teaching faculty of the Lahey Clinic and serves as Clinical Instructor at Maine Medical Center for
Tufts University School of Medicine. Dr. Maddali graduated magna cum laude from Brown
University and received his MD with Alpha Omega Alpha honors from Cornell University Medical
College. Suffice to say he, along with all of the other doctors I ve meet are very impressive physicians.
Jenny, was one of the nurses I was with Tuesday. There wasn t very much going on in terms of
exciting learning experiences, so Jenny let me pop around with the other nurses to see the best patents.
The first patient I saw was a trigger finger patient of Dr. Kutz. She was an elderly woman and her left
pinky was stuck at about 20 degrees. Even with force she was unable to comfortably extend her pinky.
Dr. Kutz spoke with her about her options for

  • 2. The Importance Of Clinical Audit The aim of the Nursing and midwifery council is to regulate nurses and midwives in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.(Nursing and Midwifery Council, 2016). The NMC is set to protect the public and to represent and campaign on behalf of nurses and midwives. (Nursing and Midwifery Council, 2016). Furthermore the NMC regulates healthcare setting and hospitals, regulates healthcare assistants and also set staffing level to ensure high quality of care the first time round for service users. The 1997 White Paper The New NHS reinforced the position of Clinical Audit as an essential element of professional practice in the health service. (Dartford and Gravesham NHS trust, 2017).Clinical audit is a way to find out if healthcare is being provided in line with standards and care providers and patients know where their service is doing well, and where there could be improvements.Clinical audits play a part in implementing clinical standards, clinical guidelines and evidence based medicines. The NHS England however defines clinical audit as a way to find out if healthcare is being provided in line with standards and let s care providers and patients know where their service is doing well, and where there could be improvements. • 3. A Study On Annan Academy s Geography Class Carlisle is the only city in Cumbria, automatically making it the administrative centre of the county. Other than administration, Carlisle has several other areas in which its activities are focused, such as tourism, shopping, and education. These areas are known as settlement functions. Functions tend to change and develop as a city grows over the years. Carlisle is a successful city, but whether or not this is due to its changing functions is debatable. Annan Academy s Geography class went to Carlisle in September 2015 to obtain primary research data of the city s geographical issues. Method 1 In order to figure out some of the current main functions of Carlisle, the first research method used for this report was two RICEPOTS surveys of different areas in Carlisle the CBD (the square near the Tourist Information Centre) and the area from West Tower Street to Corporation Road. These areas were chosen to display a contrast in the land usage of two areas of Carlisle which are close together. The RICEPOTS surveys were completed by walking around the areas and annotating a map with the purpose of each building in the area. Once both maps were annotated, the information was put into a table before being compiled into a comparative bar graph (see: Graph 1). The results show that West Tower Street to Corporation Road is largely residential, with 35 terraced houses, and that the square near the Tourist Information Centre is largely commercial with 47 specialist shops ... • 4. William Paley s Argument For The Existence Of God A design argument is more commonly know as a Teleological one, which is an argument for the existence of a creator or god based on perceived evidence of deliberate design in the natural or physical world .The argument has been discussed all the way back to the time of Socrates and Plato. In my essay I will be evaluating one argument put forward by a famous philosopher, in this case William Paley, an English clergyman born in 1743, in which he tries to show similarities in the design of nature and the design of man made artefacts. William Paley s Theological argument for the existence of God raises quite a few questions from the offset of Paley s book Natural Theology. The first piece of evidence that he uses to argue his point is his analogy of him stumbling upon a stone in a field and wondering how it came to be there , Paley states that he could argue that it would be acceptable to believe that the stone had stayed there forever due to the fact he has no prior knowledge of how it came to be there. Paley shows us that we as humans take a lot of things for granted in our lives due to the fact that we have ... This is a very important question because it endangers Paley s argument and from reading the chapters on the design argument in paley sI do not believe Paley takes in to account the possibility of more than one God existing and because of this I believe he ignores a serious way to disprove his own ... • 5. The Themes Of Sexuality In The Odd Couple By Neil Simon Sexuality is very difficult to write about, and only the greatest can tackle this class without making the subject cliche. Neil Simon spent the majority of his life composing plays and making himself as one of America s greatest authors. With his lifelong commitment to writing came the establishment of many different themes throughout his works. In The Odd Couple, Simon uses the bonds between the characters and subtext to display the difficulties of sexuality as well as the progression made through change. Felix and Oscar, the main characters of The Odd Couple, have long been thought to be homosexual by readers and critics, yet many are not sure about this idea. The main reason to believe that the two are gay is that Oscar Madison is a self assured slob, Felix Ungar a sexually inhibited, obsessively neat neurotic (Teachout). Of course, with this belief that the two may have a more than platonic relationship comes the skepticism of others. The show itself was set during a time where many were not openly homosexual, and the two men were once married. This fact dissuades many from believing the idea that the characters are closeted gay men. Although many do disagree with the fact that there is queer subtext in the show, it is rather evident if looked at through the perspective of the men being homosexual. Although there are many skepticisms about the characters sexuality, it can be shown through the words they say and what they mean that the men have deeper feelings. A ... • 6. Media Violence Essay There has been far reaching research on the link between televised violence and violent behavior amongst adolescents. Current studies have shown a direct correlation between aggressive conduct and watching violence depicted in many media services and suggest that media is a variable that put children at risk of aggressive behavior (Huesmann, Moise Titus, Podolski, Eron, 1992). According to the American Psychological Association, watching playing violent scenes them on games and television, can desensitize children to the suffering and pain of others and may be a greater risk of acting aggressively toward others and they re less bothered by violence in general and less likely to see anything wrong with it. Studies disclose that children ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many argue that media violence is at least partly to blame for the school shootings in Littleton, Colorado, Taber, Alberta and Erfurt, Germany. Proponents of the idea that violence depicted on both television and video games affects the behavior of children state that, contrary to other beliefs, these scenes teach a higher sense of the justification of the use of violence in different situations (Tompkins, 2003). It teaches that violence is a correct avenue to solve differences, which is not an acceptable action within real life situations. The classic setting of using violence for a virtuous cause may interpret in daily life into a validation for using violence to even the score against supposed victimizers. Consequently, defenseless youth who have been maltreated may be tempted to use aggressive means to resolve problems. The hero in most of these scenes also teaches them that violence has no consequences because he/she never gets in trouble for their actions. Most psychologists agree that experiences teach children during their early years and have a longstanding effect on their lives. Toddlers between the ages of eighteen to sixteen months are intelligent enough to comprehend the significance of the programs (Tompkins, 2003) that they watch and respond in the same manner to both actual and acted violence since their link between dream and actuality is still not strong. This has created a more elaborate platform for all business activities to be coordinated through an information system protocols. The information system is the management of the information data base of an organization or an institution. Information is assumed to be a significant asset, organisations strive to gather, retain and protect their valuable intellectual property to place them in a prominent business platform over their competitors. The proficiency and efficacy of the cyberspace in its application in accounting, finance, system designs, manufacturing etc., cannot be denied nor neglected. • 8. Rational Choice Theory On Alcohol And Violence Alcohol is highly used substance across the country and the most frequent cause of criminal acts, but cannot be the sole reason for the cause of criminal acts when an individual s background has a contributing factor. To understand alcohol related violence we must know the potential crimes that can be a product of alcohol and what contributing factors lead the actor to the incident. One must also understand how alcohol related violence is a rational choice of the individual and society s belief that we suffer the appropriate consequences of our own actions. Therefore, Rational Choice Theory is applied to the laws that govern criminal acts when the actor had the choice to act as society expects. Many critics of RCT believe that punishment is not always the answer and that offenders have environmental and medical factors that cause their criminal behavior. Theorist that believe in the Positivism Theory believe there is a reason for the offense and the behavior can be corrected. Each are different in views, but both hold the offender accountable. ALCOHOL RELATED VIOLENCE Alcohol use and violence are common in our society because many participate in drinking as a social activity, whether it is casual or frequent. • 9. Lord Of The Flies Piggy Character Analysis Piggy is one of the main characters in Lord of the Flies. He is a timid, lazy boy, mainly recognized by his asthma, glasses and fat body. I will look at the way Golding uses Piggy to explore different concepts, including civilization, isolation and social order. Piggy is probably the most civilized character in the book; even as the others begin to lose their morality, he sustains a sense of community and basic ethic. In the first chapter, he suggests using the conch to call other victims of the plane crash. This was a crucial part of the boys coming together and finding each other on the island and maintains basis for the actual plot of the book. Also, Piggy repeatedly compares the boys to children, for example, like a pack of kids . This simile highlights the effect of irony because they are, of course, kids, but it shows that Piggy does not regard himself as a child. He believes that the other boys act immature and has decidedly set himself apart from their behaviour. As well as this, Piggy is always found holding the conch; he caressed the conch respectfully . He relies on it to uphold a community wide sense of civilization, and comfort himself in the way that he can revert back to the rules on holding the conch while speaking when he is being interrupted. For instance, on page 42, Piggy says, I got the conch. You let me speak! . This is very important because it demonstrates the symbolism of the conch as an object of society, and how much he considers its moral and societal value. As well as this, Piggy is a pariah in the book. The boys dislike him a lot and hold very little respect for him this is said quite bluntly in Chapter 5, Piggy was an outsider . Despite his intelligence often being of use to them, they tend to disregard his contributions to the group. One example of this is when Ralph pushed Piggy on one side when he was trying to speak. This can be seen as both a literal and metaphorical representation of how Piggy is treated. What is meant by the quote is that Ralph physically pushed him aside, however it can be interpreted that Ralph and the boys not only shove Piggy around physically, but they also bully him verbally and overlook his advice and opinions. He has a tremendous lack of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, the true culture of the organization cannot be understood by solely looking at the artifacts. To understand more, it is necessary to look at the next level. Espoused beliefs and values are goals, values, aspirations and ideologies shared by everyone in an organization. Normally, these values are laid down by the leaders or founders of the organization (Schein, 2010, p.25). However, espoused beliefs and values can sometimes be mutually contradictory (Schein, 2010, p.27). Thus, the organization s culture is only understood just on the surface level. Basic underlying assumptions, which are unconscious and taken for granted beliefs and values provides for a deeper understanding of an organization s culture. Schein concluded that the essence of a culture lies in the pattern of basic underlying assumptions (Schein, 2010, p.32). If the basic underlying assumptions are not deciphered, it will be hard to understand the artifacts and espoused beliefs and values correctly. As Schein (2010, p.32) himself had concluded, any group s culture can be studied at the three levels. The three levels of culture allows for an analysis of Pixar s organizational cultural from an observational level. Information can be readily drawn from business reviews, news articles on Pixar, interviews with Pixar s employees and Pixar s website, thus making Edgar Schein s three levels of culture an ideal model for analysis of Pixar s culture.

One particular novel set during the era of this war proves this point well. In the novel, A Separate Peace by John Knowles, Gene, Finny, and Leper have their own distinct symbols. Gene symbolizes envy and jealousy, Finny embodies kindness and hope, and Leper symbolizes the detrimental effects of war. Throughout the novel, Gene symbolizes envy and jealousy, especially towards Finny. In the middle of chapter 2, Finny and Gene were discussing the recent air raid on Central Europe. With the German Army Group Center and Army Group South so close together, it was as apparent to the Russians as it was to the Germans that Kursk was going to be attacked. Zhukov, therefore, argued for a cautious defensive measure towards Kursk; I do not consider it necessary for our troops to mount a preventive offensive in the next few days. It will be better if we wear the enemy out in defensive action. This opinion was shared by Lieutenant General Mikhail Malinin, Chief of Staff of the Central Front, where he advised the Stavka (Russian high command) to create strategic reserves and deploy them along the front. They set out the activities on which the organisation should focus, and formulate the basis for creating more specific targets (the strategic objectives). The mission and strategic objectives of the organisation should be the ones that can be agreed not only by the individual members of the organisation, but also by the customers of the organisation. It would be best if the representatives of the public participated in the process of setting objectives and targets, but it seems that normally ministers responsible to Parliament play a significant role in the process of setting objectives and targets. As found in the cases of many countries, neither Parliament nor the National Assembly intervenes in defining the missions and strategic objectives, whilst they usually do intervene in the evaluation of performance. • 32. A Separate Peace Act 1 Scene 1 Analysis The scene I have chosen is a bit more than midway through the book, page 180 exactly. I chose this excerpt because I believe it is a true display of thematic ideas of manipulation and politics, with a small touch on the theme of religion. This passage is all about Rasputin s political power through ties to the royal family and his skill in manipulation. In this passage, Rasputin is attempting to instate a friend, Alexander Protopopov, the Duma s vice president, as minister of interior. Of course he need to get the tsar Nicholas II to approve this, so Rasputin started with asking the empress Backtracking a bit, because preceding this excerpt, there were large amounts of political leapfrogging in 1916, lots of events tied to the theme of politics. Ministers of different departments were fired, re assigned, or hired for no reason, which left the minister of interior position open for Rasputin to secure for Protopopov. Only three months past and Nicholas had Protopopov made the new minister of interior. Once again, Rasputin had his way. God bless your new choice of Protopopov, Alexandra exclaimed. Rasputin manipulates Alexandra into believing what he does, and into telling Nicholas II that by listening to her (thus Rasputin) choice in political figures, the tsar was approved by God, an idea that Nicholas II could draw the conclusion that as long as he listens to his wife(a.k.a. Gregory Rasputin) he will always be right by the Church. It s ironic that the author uses rather sophisticated language due to that Rasputin, though he appears to be a flamboyant monk with too much love for alcohol, is an intelligent, deceiving ... Cromwell was able to distance himself enough from Wolsey that when he fell, he did not take Cromwell with him. This left Cromwell in the perfect position to fill the space that Wolsey left empty. Through a series of events, the king enlisted Cromwell to use his legal skills to convince parliament to create laws that undermine the authority of the pope, allowing Henry to divorce Katharine without the pope s permission. Before the arrival of the Anglo Saxons, many parts of Britain were bilingual Celtic Latin speakers, although very few traces of Celtic remain in the English language other than in place names, for example Avon and Ouse which derive from the Celtic word for water , and words found more in local dialects than mainstream English for example broc for badger. These words tend to demonstrate the difference in status between the language of the conquerors, and that of the conquered. In more modern times the interaction of English speakers with other languages, through first colonialism, and later the emergence of English as a global language has enriched the vocabulary ( pyjama ) and led to the evolution of different versions of English around the world, for example the hybrid Singlish that has emerged in Singapore. The integration of loan words into English were also a reflection of how the language was used; French was the language of court government and law, and many words used in these contexts are borrowed from French for example accuse justice and crime.
