Krogel s Los Rios Profundos
The second portion of the book consists of three chapters, an appendix, a bibliography, and an
index. This part of the book differs from the first section as it moves into more contemporary
narratives and Krogel s personal accounts of narratives. She also connects these interpretations to
the contemporary foodsupply problems that Peru faces.
She transitions into chapter four by describing the messages which subvert or criticize dominant
powerholders in Andean society (Krogel 105) that are found in the narratives she analyzes. The
fourth chapter focuses on the female cooks featured in verbal and visual narratives. The fifth
chapter becomes more personal, as Krogel listens to the oral performances herself. The sixth chapter

manner that also educates them. In her exploration of the Quechua narratives, Krogel reveals the
food dilemmas the Peru faced in the past while connecting them to the food landscape and Quechua
culture. Krogel concludes the book with a brief summary and the reiteration of her point, that

A Study On Stuttering And Its Effects On The Lives Of The...
Epidemiology
Stuttering, also called stammering or fluency disorder, inhibits the afflicted person from speaking
with ease due to the involuntary, repetitive, prolongation or cessation of sounds when trying to
speak. Stuttering is a repetition of initial/sound repetition of single syllable word ( I..I..want more
cookies or I want, I want, I want the cup.) There are also some core features and secondary features
of stuttering. The Core features includes Repetitions, (My my my hat), Prolongations(rrrrraaabit)
and blocks. The secondary features are, Escape behaviors(Head nods, stamping the floor) ,
Avoidance behaviors(word and sound avoidance) , Feelings and attitudes (stress, anxiety, guilt).
Stutters experience tension in the tongue, lips, and throat when speaking. Stuttering is Possibly the
longest documented history of any communication disorder however, Fluency disorders affect a
relatively small number of people, compared to other disorders of communication disorder.

Cause And Effects Of Smartphone Addiction
5 6 7 Introduction: The smartphone is still a fairly new invention and is constantly being
developed and improved. This device has integrated itself into our culture and is slowly
becoming essential to our lives. The younger generation known as Millennials in the age range
of 18 35 years old check their cell phones on average about 75.6 times a day (Soto et al., 2017).
This number is exceptionally high when compared to the older generation who only check their
phone around 23 times a day, according to the same research. This paper will cover cell phone
addiction and its effects on the college students lifestyle. Addiction in this case is tied with the
substance use criteria in The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM 5).
In the criteria it states that substance use is a pathological pattern of behaviors related to use of
the substance. Extremely high smartphone use can lead to these behaviors where dependency is
an issue. Symptoms of this dependence include anxiety when away from the device, social
media addiction due to ease of access, and sedentary behaviors (Lepp et al., 2014). This
excessive use is extremely prevalent in the college scene due to how much hinges on their
devices. Social media, school, communicating and entertainment all hinge on the smartphone
which in turn promotes its use creating a cycle that leads to the addiction that most students are
oblivious about. This device has a plethora of effects that range from a decrease in quality
academic performance to a complete disatisfaction with life (Lepp et al., 2015). Can this behavior
be able to be controlled or stopped using the right interventions? The following text will explore
the symptoms and effects of high smartphone usage amongst college students, and see what
intervention proves to be the most effective in solving this social issue. 3Biological Perspective:
Cell phone use produce a lot of stimuli for the user. Research has begun bringing this to light.
There is evidence that shows the relationship between cell phone use and your neurocognitive
functions. New research has shown that Cell phone usage may be directly linked to your dopamine
levels and tamper with your reward center (La Porta et al., 2006).

Causes Of The Harlem Renaissance
The Harlem Renaissance was an important national movement with connections to international
developments in art and culture in the African American culture (Wintz). The movement also
known as the Jazz Age , started on different dates depending on the viewer s interpretation of the
Harlem Renaissance. For instance, if your interpretation of the Harlem Renaissance is literature,
then it began in the year 1924. However, most people associate the year 1920 with the creation
of the Harlem Renaissance. The Great Migration was one major start to the Harlem Renaissance
due to the movement of African Americans from the South to Harlem. The Great Migration was
caused by racial discrimination against African Americans as well as slavery. There were racial
groups such as the KKK (Ku Klux Klan) that used violence against African Americans to prove a
point. Not only were the KKK the cause of the Great Migration but as well as the wanting of
improvement in lifestyle. Harlem provided the African Americans the opportunity to receive a
better paying job to support their families as well as superior education. As we all know, African
Americans did not have an easy life in the South as a result of slavery and segregation. As a result,
many African Americans saw Harlem in New York as an opportunity to improve their family s
lifestyles along with their own. This led to the development of African American culture, such as
jazzmusic, art and literature. For instance, Chick Webbreflects the ideas, values and contributions
of the Harlem Renaissance through his accomplishments and musical influence. William Henry
Webb was a famous swing era jazz drummer and bandleader, however; he did face many
challenges to accomplish his goal. William Henry Webb was born in Baltimore, Maryland with
spinal tuberculosis. Spinal tuberculosis affects the spinal vertebrates, which causes the individual
to have a lump in their back and prevent them from growing like a normal human being. As a
result, William Henry Webb was given the nickname Chick Webb. In addition, his date of birth is
unclear due to the lack of documentation during his birth. However, some believe he was born in
the year 1902 while others believe it was 1909. Due to the condition he

Higher education managers should spend more time focusing on the significance of the system s
parts. Managers must not leave out unpleasant interactions that can transpire between the different
system parts (Birnbaum, 1988). For example, employees can have a tremendous amount of skill but
if they are ineffective at managing relationships with their fellow employees then there may be an
increased potential for conflict. This can create obstacle that can make it very difficult to work
together cohesively.
Strategic Planning
The composition of many different departmental strategies makes up the single organization wide
strategic plan. Top higher education administrators are responsible for the overall strategic plan but
the deans and managers are responsible for creating solid departmental strategies that are crucial to
the strategic plan and implementation effort. Higher education institutions are beginning to adopt
the successful practices that are used by profit based businesses. Following are five strategy making
and implementation process tasks that managers are responsible for:
1.Forming a strategic vision that forecasts the institutions future appearance and also its direction.
2.Making Objectives.
3.Creating a strategy to achieve certain outcomes.
4.Effectively carry out the selected strategy.
5.Performance evaluation followed by needed corrections in vision, direction, strategy, altered

Relationship Between Empathy And Narcissism
Where did we make a wrong turn in our society regarding ethics? If students think that ethics and
codes don t apply to them, what structure do they have to base any decisions they will make in the
future? The attributes theme (specifically the focus on the person, self absorption, and the role of
narcissismand self centeredness played in ethicsviolations) was the most influential aspect of this
research, in my opinion. It expanded my knowledge base on the lack of ethical thinking that
possibly exists in Generation Y, students born in the 80s and 90s. I have three Generation Y
children and it does appear that they all struggle with ethical decision making. It s not because
they were not exposed to sound moral character modeled around the house. Was the lack of
parental involvement while growing up? I don t think so. I ve seen my own kids go off the deep
end after conducting themselves unethically. They were brought up with loving and kind parents
who provided more than they could ever ask for. Perhaps that is part of the issue....the kids today
have too much and didn t have to earn it? Is there no reason to have a growth mindset if you have
everything you need? Is there a reason why one should set worthy and challenging goals to succeed

Narcissism is on the rise in kids today. One study found that one in four young people were
classified as narcissistic, according to a widely accepted psychological test. That number has
doubled in the last thirty years. Another study reported that since the 1980s, there s been a 40%
decline among young people in empathy, a personality attribute inversely related to narcissism. In
nationwide reports, it takes teens longer to get ready in the morning than at any time since we ve

Unreliable Narrator In The Tell Tale Heart
John Green once said, It s quite rare to find someone who sees the same world you see, a fitting
quote to define the works of American author, Edgar Allen Poe, known for his short stories
written in the 1800 s. Famous works include The Black Cat , The Tell Tale Heart , and Berenice
before his untimely death in 1849. Often ridiculed for his absurd stories, Poe was fueled by his
many losses in his childhood, including his mother and wife, and alcoholism. Many of his stories
are that of the horror genre and often uses an unreliable character. Just as some of his most famous
characters, Poe was seen as a mentally unstable man who was burdened by the hardships of his life.
Through unreliable narratives, Poe emphasizes fear in the thin line... Show more content on

Berenice follows Egaeus who is a man about to marry his cousin, Berenice. Egaeus often finds
himself lost in thought and succumbed to a trance like state where he looks over many qualities
of Berenice. As she is deteriorating from a disease which is unknown to the reader, we see her
teeth as the only part of her to remain intact. Egaeus, in a fit of unconsciousness, pulls her teeth
from her mouth and finds them in a box next to him when he comes to reality again. Although
there is no time shown where he committed the horrendous act, the narrator awakes from his haze
by the sounds of a woman s shriek. The teeth were hers, and the narrator was petrified by his
actions he had no memory of doing. Poe uses the narrators gaps in memory to emphasize the lack
of control he has, and in doing so, proves further that he is an unreliable narrator. Teeth has the
symbolic meaning of health and beauty; the narrator saw the love of his life slowly begin to die
and decided to keep what he most admired as a symbol of his love, something that would never die.
Evil is a consequence of good and the loved shared between Egaeus and Berenice was the literary
example of love which was doomed from the

training, developing and mentoring of those that seek this kind of development have a high value

Leslie Marmon Silko s The Border Patrol State
Leslie Marmon Silko is a Tucson based Laguna Pueblo fiction author and poet. Having been based
in the southwestern area since 1978, she began to notice the increase in border security and
checkpoints. In 1994, her essay, The Border Patrol State, was published in The Nation magazine.
In it, she explains her concerns and criticisms for the development and enforcement of the US
Mexican border, arguing that it is an infringement on the free right to travel. She backs these
arguments up with a series of anecdotal accounts and experiences, using few statistical evidence. As
a result, Silko s essay becomes very powerful pathos wise, but weak when it comes to logos and
ethos.
Silko s audience seems to be targeted at people who would likely or ... Show more content on

The next few paragraphs is a retelling of her personal experience with the border patrol. In the story,
she and her companion were on their way home from a book promotion. This creates credibility by
establishing her as a well known author. At some point, they come up to a checkpoint where they
are confronted by some border patrol officers. During the confrontation, she begins to get a feeling
of menace from them liking them to Argentine police during Argentina s dirty war. This
comparison helps push her argument on the infringement of rights by comparing border patrol
actions to the oppressive actions of the Argentine police. It also allows readers who have gone
through similar experiences to relate or affirm their feelings.
During the confrontation, the border patrol officers bring in a dog to check for illegal substances or
immigrants. She described the dog as a small female German shepherd which was treated very
roughly by the border patrol officers. This use of diction paints the dog as a victim of sorts to the
border patrol officer s brutish actions. This acts as an appeal to emotion, allowing readers to
sympathize with the dog. The dog is first brought to the vehicle to check, but shows no interest.
During the search she describes the dog as resistant and showing contempt for the officers. After
searching the vehicle, the dog is made to search Silko and her companion. During the search, she
and the dog made eye contact. In that moment,

Shopping Under Manipulation By Malcolm Gladwell
Essay 1: Shopping Under Manipulation
Consumers are being targeted and manipulated by shopping malls. Manipulation of consumers
begin with stores studying shopping behaviors and using those ideas to construct an environment
that encourages a consumer to spend more, by enticing the wandering eye with a sales poster
placed strategically. Shopping malls encourage consumer consumption by using mannequins to
display an outfit that pairs well with each other so that the consumer will be more inclined to
purchase the whole outfit instead of just the pants. For example, at Gap there are pants laying on
the table right next to where the mannequin is displayed but above that table is another which just

Bilingual And Bilingualism
The world is unique and big. There are many different states, countries, and cities. Countries can
have a lot in common like relationships, food, and education. Countries can also have a lot of
differences like religions, beliefs, and languages. Languages may vary but is also very important in
communication and understanding. A huge epidemic that is becoming more common is
bilingualism also known as bilingual. Languageis a cognitive function that takes place in the brain,
bilingualism can improve brain function.
Broca s and Wernicke s area is located in the left hemisphere. Broca is responsible for the
muscles involved in word pronunciation within the frontal lobe. Wernicke is located in the
temporal lobe and is associated with a person s language compensation. Brain imaging MRI
studies have been conducted to view the activity of the brain during speech and hearing. Studies
that heard their native language being their first or primary language showed activation in the left
hemisphere as according to Broca s and Wernicke s area. People who knew American Sign
Language (ASL) or a second language had greater activity in the right hemisphere and sometimes
even the left and the right (Wilson, J., 2013). Children develop language according to an invariant
sequence of steps or stages (Shriner Shriner, 2014, 6.2 Infants par 2). At 12 months an infant will
begin echolalia and intonation then evolving to a vocabulary with over thirty words by 24 months.

Adam Bain and the Price Momentum Strategy
ADAM BAIN AND THE PRICE MOMENTUM STRATEGY
In February 1995, Adam Bain, investment advisor in the London, Ontario branch of RBC

momentum strategy for his clients. Trend and Cycle, DS s technical research department, had
recently circulated a copy of a study which described a simple price momentum model and
referred to its startling results based on back testing the strategy over a 15 year period. The Trend

His client base had grown primarily due to referrals, often from Royal Bank branch managers. His
primary source of income was through commissions charged on products sold. For example, typical
stock commissions ranged from 1.5 to 2.5 percent depending on the size of the transaction.
Bain s clients portfolios included equities (both common and preferred) as well as fixed income
securities and small amounts of cash (typically parked on a short term basis before being
allocated to fixed income or equities). Typical portfolios were approximately 60% equities and
40% fixed income, 70% domestic and 30% international. Approximately one third of equity
investments were through mutual funds. Approximately 25% of client assets were included in
tax sheltered Registered Retirement Savings Plans (RRSPs). As of 1991, Bain s clients were
primarily over age 70. As of 1995, his client base had evolved to become much younger, with a

Women, Oppression, And Treatment Of Young Girls And Women...
From the moment the first American settlers stepped off their musty ship and laid foot on the
fertile soil which makes up our great nation, women in America have almost always been seen as
inferior when compared to their male counterparts. What s more, Americans have a rich history
in oppressing those we deem to be lesser. In terms of women, this oppression has taken on many
forms throughout the years. From not being able to go to school to receive a proper education,
to being denied suffrage, to being criticized for how they look or what they wear, women have
encountered obstacles that men can sometimes only imagine. We as a nation have a defining
past in which women were, and sometimes still are, expected to look or act in a manner defined
as appropriate by men and even by each other. Nowadays, it seems as though we are attempting
to compensate for the years of mistreatment by sending positive messages of acceptance to young
girls and women alike. However, while one half of the population is being praised for their
uniqueness, there is still another half who are being left to fend for themselves in the shadows.
Men and boys, though always perceived as the strong and indestructible members of society, are
not given the same encouraging spotlight as women and girls. We live in a world where problems
related to self image and self worth are genderneutral; they do not merely seek to harm a single sex.
Why then, does society typically only remind women how truly special they

The purpose was to create a program and coordinate assets of the federal government and state
agencies to control and minimize the economic, ecological, and human health impacts caused by
invasive species (Bergman). In addition to organizing and establishing federal policy in regards
to invaders it defines what an invasive species is. Executive Order 13112 defines an invasive
species as an alien species whose introduction does or is likely to cause economic or
environmental harm or harm to human health. Invasive species typically harm native species
through predation, habitat degradation and competition for shared resources (Cost of Invasive
Species, US Fish amp; Wildlife). By defining invasive species the order took strides to narrow the
scope of non indigenous species to those who are actively and aggressively pushing our native
species out through monopolization of resources and other tactics. This definition takes pains to,
therefore, exclude non indigenous species to the United States who are not evicting indigenous
species out of their native environment rather they are an almost welcome addition to our
ecosystems. North American populations of the ring neck pheasant, Phasianus colchicus, is a very
good examples of this. They were introduced to the North American continent from Asia through
settlers however, these species failed to become aggressive competitors to native species. Their
populations remained controlled through natural predation

Effects Of Alcohol Advertising On Adolescents
Alcohol advertising is abundant globally. It is vital that adolescents are to be raised in a positive
and healthy setting. Particular consumer segments are considered to be more subtle towards the
negative impact of advertising (Morgan, Schuler and Stoltman, 1995). Due to the new social
networking technologies exist today and the various way of advertising, it is not surprising that
adolescents are exposed to alcohol advertising as direct promotions are easy and voluminous. A
large number of research have been performed regarding the effect of alcohol advertising and
marketing on the drinking of adolescents is highly debated globally (Smith and Foxcroft, 2009).
Regardless of most statistics indicating that alcohol advertising relates to the higher consumption of
alcohol, early commencement of drinking and the positive eagerness among adolescents,
advertisements with youth friendly attributes as well as new alcohol products are remitting by
alcohol companies. This paper analyses the research methodologies used in selected previous
literatures to conduct their research regarding the effect of alcohol advertising on adolescents.
Accordingly, the limitations for the methodologies used in the selected articles are discussed.
Consequently, this paper further suggests a more appropriate method in conducting future research

colleague than to give the wrong information. It is important to report issues to others as you can
then ensure that you have taken the correct course of action. This person will also be able to

Classification of Beer
What s more refreshing on a hot summer day than a nice cold beer? Or how about drinking a nice
cold one with some buddies after work at a local bar, sound nice doesn t it? Beer has been around
for many years and will probably be around for many more. A beer is any variety of alcoholic
beverages produced by the fermentation of starchy material derived from grains or other plant
sources. The production of beerand some other alcoholic beverages is often called brewing. Most
every culture has there own tradition and the own take on beer, thus producing many different
styles and variations.
Simply put, a beer style is a label given to a beer that describes its overall character and often times
its origin. It s a name badge that has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the secondary stage, the lager clears and mellows. The cooler conditions also inhibit the
natural production of esters and other byproducts, resulting in a crisper tasting beer. Modern
methods of producing lager were pioneered by Gabriel Sedlmayr the Younger, who perfected dark
brown lagers at the Spaten Brewery in Bavaria, and Anton Dreher, who began brewing a lager,
probably of amber red color, in Vienna in 1840В–1841. With modern improved fermentation
control, most lager breweries use only short periods of cold storage, typically 1В–3 weeks. Most of
today s lager is based on the Pilsner style, pioneered in 1842 in the town of PlzeГІ, in the Czech
Republic. The modern Pilsner lager is light in colour and high in carbonation, with a mild hop
flavour and an alcohol content of 3В–6% by volume. The Budweiser brand of beer is a typical
example of a pilsner.
The five main sub catagories of lagers are: pilsner, bock, helles, dunkel and Oktoberfest. Pilsners
defining elements were the extremely soft water that was pumped locally and the unique
aromatic hops that were also grown nearby. Pilsners are malty sweet, and well hopped. Caramel
flavors are often noticed accompanied by medium to high bitterness. Pilsners have a good amount
of carbonation and are clean and crisp. Bock beer is a hearty beer with high alcohol content.
Contrary to the rumor, bock beer is not what s cleaned out of the

Comparison Of Landscape With The Fall Of Icarus
Pieter Brueghel was a 16th century Netherlandish Renaissance painter who completed Landscape
with the Fall of Icarus in 1558. His painting was inspired by the ancient Greek myth of Daedalus
and Icarus. William Carlos Williams, a Puerto Rican American poet, wrote a poem inspired by
Brueghel s work in 1960 similarly titled Landscape with the Fall of Icarus. There is a common
theme displayed in both works which both execute and establish this theme with different visual
and literary connotations and strengths using differing amounts of information provided through
their artistic mediums. which create an effectiveness with the end all goal being to explain that
time will pass by regardless of what is going on in an individual s world even if they want it all to
stop at once.
The painting lays a scene of a landscape of an Island territory and several different people and
animals. In the eye catching foreground we see a farmer herding a large amount of animals
their focus is darted to the left of the painting. we will come to learn that all mentioned figures
and objects in the painting have a visual focus to facing to the left, as our eyes draw towards the
right and farther out we notice off in the distance you see an image of the fisherman off to the
coast (a pair of legs submersed in water as well not too far off). In the north you see a ship that
seems to dwarf them both in size and space. With this we can draw the connection that this relates

making our decision, we had to first take a look at the features that each system provided and
which one would be the best for what we are doing.
One initial feature we looked at was how to access the server. Both Windows and Linux offer
File Transfer Protocol (FTP), which would give us access to the files easily, but then Linux offers
telecommunications network or telnet, which would allow us to remotely access the servers from
another location, such as if were not at the office. It also offers Secure Shell (Ssh) that is a

The Contribution Of Oda Nobunaga s Impact On Japan
Hideyoshi under his Daimyo, or feudal lord, Oda Nobunaga, would learn well what it meant to
be a samurai. Of course the samurai protected their homes and families, but their true glory came
on the battlefield, defending their lord against enemies. Born the son of a daimyo in 1534,
Nobunaga s reign though short, had an immense impact on Japan. Lord of Nagoya Castle, he
destroyed opposing clans in brilliant campaigns against superior forces. He was the first daimyo
general to adopt the newly imported Western muskets. He gradually gained control of the region
round the capital Kyoto, which he took in 1568. In 1580, he became master of all central Japan.
Nobunaga continued to amass power, but before he could subdue the whole country, he was caught
off guard one night by a rebellious vassal, Akechi Mitsuhide. The life of the most powerful warlord
in Japan ended in 1582. Ruthless and feared upon the mere mention of his name, Nobunaga was the
first to begin the unification of war torn Japan. A unification, which Hideyoshi would later complete

American Sports Values
Sports have played an indispensable role in American society. As Americans, we place significant
social, political, and economic importance on the values, benefits, and entertainment we derive
from sports. Throughout our history, we have seen examples of how sports have played an
important role in shaping our values and attitudes. In 1936 at the Berlin Olympics, Jesse Owens
achieved what was thought of at that time and still to this day one of the greatest athletic
achievements in history when he won the 100 meters, 200 meter, the long jump, and anchored the
U.S. men s 4 X 100 team to victory. The wins were significant to the American people who saw it
not only as a conquest over Adolf Hitler s Nazi Germany, but a repudiation of his theory of Aryan
racial superiority. Jesse Owen was instrumental in tearing down racial barriers that denied black
athletes before them opportunities to compete at the highest levels in sports and sporting events.
We have become so aligned with our athletes and the values and principles they project, that
anything that threatens that connection is met with ridicule and angry criticism. Nothing has
threatened this connection more than the use of performance enhancing which is why we have no

The internet. More bad than good
The early years of the 21st century have seen a blast in the Internet utilization. The fame of this
worldwide arrangement of the interconnected system continues developing continually from the
day it showed up in human life. Clearly, with the all inclusive access to data and an intelligent
instrument to impart that Internet offers, it is no difficult to comprehend why individuals all around
the globe get dependent on it. Online business, E Business, and E Marketing are marvels that show
up as the consequence of the Internet. There is undoubtedly no uncertainty about the advantages
given by the utilization of Internet in everyday life. It is about the negative impacts of the Internet
which is the issue, the absence of control over data sources, security spilling or web fixation is said
to come up in conversation as often as possible than any other time in recent memory. Never in the
past did the negative impacts of the Internet get as much as consideration in contrast with this
century.
One of the most negative impacts of the internet is the absence of face to face communication. It
sounds very ironic when the absence of up close and personal correspondence is specified as one of
the contrary impacts of the Internet because the Internet should bring individuals nearer. The truth
of the matter is that by one means or another many individuals think that it s simpler to impart

Rights Of A Fetus Essay
Rights of a Fetus Essay Every life is valuable, whether the life is growing inside of the womb or
outside of the womb. There are many controversies regarding the subject of the rights of a fetus.
Some believe that because the fetus it not yet in this world and has not yet taken its first breath, it
has no rights. Others believe that right at conception, the fetushas human rights. I believe that God
made all of us unique individuals right at fertilization and even as a tiny new form of life, we were
all human beings which possess human rights. A fetus is its own being and should have its own
human rights.

In the germinal period which includes the creation of the fertilized egg, called a zygote, cell
division, and the attachment of the zygote to the uterine wall (Santrock, J., 2008). To me, I believe
that the germinal period is the only prenatal stage that you would not completely consider the fetus
as a human being because, though it is a living organism, it shows no indication of being a human.
Once in the embryonic period and fetal period, I believe the fetus should have complete human
rights. The embryonic stage is the stage when the embryo begins to develop organs which are the
first characteristics of a human being. This is why I would consider the embryo to be a human and
having human rights from two weeks till birth. According to the law (in most states), it is said that
women may not have an abortion after twenty three weeks and at twenty three weeks a child is
able to live outside of the womb. I have learned this because my, now 3 year old niece, was born
at twenty three weeks and is a perfectly healthy child today with no problems. This means that a
fetus can be aborted when viable to live outside of the womb. Regrettably, though, the seeming
clarity of the viability rule

the first ballgame played, between Lords and gods, is a tale that teaches the Mayans the proper
way to behave, and has taught historians of the higher powers that guide their actions. The Popol

generations. The Mayan ballgame is also important in that it was crucial in their rituals and

The Role Of Religion In The English Colonies
Religion s Role in the Development of the English Colonies
Religion is one of the fundamental aspects of society. Unfortunately, it is also one of the sparks that
can start a war and revolutionize the way we think and certain civilizations traditions. For example,
before the Spaniards came to the Central and Southern Americas the Incas had their own religion,
but once they were conquered they were forced to convert to Christianity. The Incans had to
abandon their way of life and traditions or face punishment. This, along with the near extinction of
the race, caused them to lose their beliefs over time. On the other side, religion can also lead to the
birth of a new civilization different from the rest, the Americans . Unlike other countries, the United
States is a melting pot where people of different ethnic backgrounds, faiths, lifestyles, cultures, and
races come together. And this is where it all started.
In 1492, Christopher Columbus reached the Americas on the orders of King Ferdinand and Queen
Isabella of Spain. King Ferdinand sent him to claim land and riches for Spain, while Queen
Isabella requested that he help spread Christianity. From then on, many missionaries were sent to
convert the Natives. This is one example of how religion shaped the Americas.
King Henry the Eighth divorced his wife and switched England s religion to the Protestant Church
in 1534 when he renounced the pope (as the head of the church). After some time, the Catholics

Re-Priming Shot-Shell Primers
This week s chapter six over Reloading the shot shells seem to me almost the same as reloading
a regular rifle cartridge. There just more steps in the process eight totaling. Starting with step
one being de priming and resizing. Which is almost the same in reloading brass. Re shaping the
shell back to the proper dimensions and ejecting the once fired primer out of the shell. Be aware
you should never de prime live primers from hulls! when de priming the process could cause live
primers to detonate. Step two re priming the shell. With modern shot shell primers have been
standardized to the No. 209 size, but, be aware, just because they re there the same size, it doesn
t mean they re identical in other capacities. Primers are built with various levels of energy, and
each load calls for specific primers. If the primer is not fully seated and sticks out you should
attempt to re prime again. Do not keep moving forward in the loading process with a primer that
is not fully seated. This step might also be one reason shotgun re loaders prefer to use progressive
press other that the amount of shells that can be reloaded. In a progressive if the primer protrudes it
will almost likely catch as the turret attempts to rotate and prevent the shell from accessing the next
station.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With step four you start adding other steps that are not like reloading brass. Inserting a wad which
helps seals the gases to provide the pressure to push the charge out. Step five is dropping the shot
charge in the shell. It is important to keep an eye on the volume a projectile occupies inside the
barrel and not wholly fixate upon the projectile s weight. The principle behind stacking buckshot
pellets is that the greater the angle of surface contact between two pellets, the greater the tendency

Use of Language and Imagery in act One Scene Two of Shakespeare s Henry V The French
ambassadors are shown into Henry s court. They were sent from the Dauphin, son of the French
King. The Dauphin s message is an insulting rejection of Henry s claim to the French dukedoms
and refers to his reputation as a trivial pleasure seeker. The message is accompanied by a
mocking gift of tennis balls, suggesting that he should go and play games. Dramatically this is a
tense moment. The Dauphin has under estimated Henry. The childhood imagery of Henry has

King Henry then comes back to the theme of the tennis in his reply to the Dauphin and warns
that a more deadly game will follow. There is much confident in Henry s speech. He is
contrasting the image of the tennis game to the game of war as he says we will in France, by
God s Grace, play a set. There is a tone change, when he states God, but there is also reference to
Henry s religious side. God permits Henry s anger. When Henry says play a set , he declares that
they will play a game of war. There is a pun when Henry says courts. That all the courts of France
will be disturbed. The word court is used in two different terms in Henry s speech. Firstly the
term court could mean tennis courts and secondly it could mean the courts of France, where the
battle will commence. Henry replies to the Dauphin that the tennis balls will be turned into gun
stones, Hath turned his balls to gun stones, at the battle and this is an extended metaphor. Henry
again refers to God, his soul. God is mentioned a few times by Henry and this establishes an
image that God is on Henry s side. The word mock is used four times in Henry s lecture meaning
he shows anger at the Dauphin s mockery of the tennis balls. Just as tennis is a mock game and the
game they are going to play in France will make mockery of Dauphin judgement and the

Peripheral Nerve Complications
The incidence of hoarseness was 11% after PACU discharge and lasted a mean of 2 days. The
etiology of these symptoms was not formally established. It is possible that symptoms were due
to prolonged block of the phrenic and recurrent laryngeal nerves. (Liu et al, 2010). Borgeat et al
2001, in a prospective study of ISB using a nerve stimulator concluded that one patient with
Marfan disease (0.2%) suffered pneumothorax. 0.2%of cases had episode of central nervous
system toxicity in the form of incoherent speech. Aspiration of blood was encountered in 0.5%of
patients but no hematoma was subsequently observed. Nerve injury after brachial plexus
anesthesia varied from 0 to more than 5%. (Borgeat et al, 2001). Peripheral nerve complications
are generally directly attributed to the performance of the block itself, but this concept was
challenged by Selander et al 1979, who indicated that other factors may be responsible as well.
(Selander et al, 1979). In 1974 Ward reported an incidence of 3% of symptomatic pneumothorax

Recruiting Talent
There are a number of factors that take place in order for the success of an organization. It is not
only the quality of the resources or the technology in the organization that counts, but the
employees and their valuable skills are also a huge contributing factor for its success. This essay
will discuss, how effective recruiting can contribute to an organizations success.
Recruiting is the first step in accomplishing a certain task. Due to the increase in global
competitiveness and increased flexibility in labor market, the importance of labor force planning in
every business is increasing. One of the most important parts on an organization s of Human

Recruitment establishes a linking between the job pursuers and employers. By which, it ensures the
employment of correct applicants at the correct place at the accurate time. Following the right
recruitment procedures and practices simplifies the selection of the appropriate applicants for the
organization.
One can suggest that recruitment plays a significant role in strategic human resource management
as it is during this process that the ability and qualities of potential employees are evaluated.
Recruitment refers to any practice or activity carried out by the organization with the prime purpose
of recognizing and drawing would be employees. They can be sourced from internal or external
sources, direct applicants and recommendations, advertisements, public or private organizations,
electronic recruiting, or universities. Recruitment is the process that identifies as well as hires the
best qualified applicants from inside or outside of an organization for job openings, in a most
appropriate and cost effective method.
According to Edwin B. Flippo, Recruitment is the process of searching for the potential candidates
for employment and stimulating them to apply for job vacancies in the organization . Recruitment
comprises the activity that connects the job pursuers with hiring providers.
Recruitment is also a procedure of finding and drawing talented candidates for employment. The

Why People Want To Protest Research Paper
People want to participate in protests to be united, defend their opinions, make society better for all
citizens. Protests are most effective when they don t discriminate and stand up for themselves.
First off, Citizens decided to protest to be united. Nixon believed that the only way to end the war
and stop the fighting was for the American people to be united. He thought the protesters were
unpatriotic, and stopping Americans from uniting themselves. Nixon wanted the support of the
American people so he could make a plan to end the Vietnam War. In his speech he said, I
recognize that some of my fellow citizens disagree with the plan of peace I have chosen, honest
and patriotic Americans have reached different conclusions as to how peace should be achieved.
Secondly, Citizens want to participate in protests to defend their opinions, to fight against
something they personally don t like or agree with. People could disagree with a laws, politics or
decisions that the government makes. People opposed the Vietnam War because more and more
people died everyday for a useless war, that the government knew they were not going to win. John
Kerry said himself, We believe the will of the people says that we should be out of Vietnam war
now. Americans protested the Vietnam War... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Citizens wanted to protest because they thought that Society wasn t equal. They wanted everyone
to be equal, whatever their gender, race, how wealthy or their other beliefs are. Martin Luther
King Jr. blamed the U.S. government because only poor people were fighting in the Vietnam War,
and less wealthy people are paying double the price of smashed hopes and homes. MLK Jr.
thought that they needed to protest. In Martin Luther King Jr. s Vietnam Speech he said, I cannot
be silent. and We need to protest. MlK Jr. had very strong beliefs about having an better and more

Daaethon And Daedalus And Icarus
The two myths, Phaethon and Daedalus and Icarus, use literary elements to show how Phaethon
and Icarus s prideful disregard of the advice of their elders lead to their deaths.
Both authors use conflict, characterization, and imagery to portray the main theme of prideful
disregard of the crucial knowledge and advice given to us by those who are older and wiser. The
main characters, Icarus and Phaethon, and their story of how they put their pride before their logic
and guidance teach us about the consequences of arrogance and ignorance. Conflict is used as a
literary element by both authors as an implement to portray the characters disregard of advice given
to them from their elders. To illustrate, in the story Phaethon, Phaethon gets into an argument with
Epaphus. He states, He taught me how to handle the reins (of the sun chariot, page . this is a lie he
tells to impress his friend who is talking about his moments about his own father, Zeus.
Afterwards, Epaphus says this is a lie, followed by Phaethon backing up his rash statement and
trying to impress his friend even more by saying, He would let me drive the sun chariot alone. .
This conflict sets the scene for Phaethon, rash and prideful, to go and try to ride the sun chariot..
This scene is foreshadowing the consequence of his rash decision of trying to prove himself to his
friend. Similarly, conflict in Daedalus and Icarus is shown when Daedalus is explaining to him the
directions of which he is to fly,

Royal Proclamation Definition
Royal Proclamation 1763
Following the defeat of France in the Seven Years War, the Treaty of Paris was signed. The treaty
stated that France would forfeit some of its territories to Britain. King George III issued the Royal
Proclamation in 1763 as a way of establishing government in North American territories formerly
ruled by France these would include Quebec, Grenada, as well as East and West Florida. Under the
Jurisdiction of the Royal Proclamation, the Laws of England applied to all colonies:

It meant that Canada could change its constitution without the involvement of British Parliament. It
received royal assent from Queen Elizabeth II on March 29th 1982 and severed all remaining legal
ties with Britain. Entrenched in the constitution was the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
The Charter ensured the protection of fundamental and language rights for Canadians across the
country; it also helped Canadians challenge government statutes that were found discriminatory. In
order for the Constitution to be amended, seven or two thirds of Canadian provinces, that make up
at least half of the nation s population, must agree this is also known as the amending formula.
Meech Lake Accord 1987
The Constitution Act was approved by all Canadian Provinces in 1981 with the exception of
Quebec. Nevertheless, the Constitution Act went through and legally bound Quebec as a province
of Canada. In 1987, Prime Minister Brian Mulroney introduced the Meech Lake Accord to amend
the Constitution. Mulroney hoped that it would entice Quebec into finally approving the

The Infancy of Humanitarian Intervention
The Infancy of Humanitarian Intervention
As breaking news is more easily communicated across the globe, the U.N. and other states led forces
are more inclined to intervene more then ever before but sometimes they are faced with the
problem of protecting a states sovereignty. There is a growing skepticism that is facing
humanitarian intervention when a sovereign state fails to protect it s own population. The question
arises when humanitarian intervention supersedes the sovereignty of a state. Does the state remain
sovereign or does it lose authority when an outside party intervenes? Respecting a states sovereignty
is a high priority between the United Nations and other state led forces, but when a sovereign state
fails the responsibility protect it s own citizens there is an unclear line that confuses the legitimacy
of humanitarian intervention and it s principles of military action. The United Nation s
humanitarian intervention, and the principles of its military action, has shown time after time of its
failures and successes in combating or escalating wide spread violence. In this study I will weigh
the pros and cons of several conflicts where humanitarian intervention was deployed and decide if
humanitarian intervention was a successful or unsuccessful procedure. By focusing on what is
causing these complications in enforcing humanitarian intervention within failed states will prove if
this practice is just or not. But before I discuss these issues of

Advantages Of Gap Year
I am convinced that one s college education is greatly enhanced by the maturity, experience, and
perspective a student can bring post gap year. (Fred A. Hardon). A gap year is a period, usually,
one academic year, taken by a student as a break between secondary school and higher education.
The gap year as we know it started gaining attraction in the US in the 1960s. During their gap year,
students usually travel and experience other cultures, gain work experience, learn other languages,
and volunteer. Initially, taking a gap year has not always been socially acceptable in the US,
however, it was much more acceptable in many European countries as well as Australia. In more
recent years, however, the percentage of students putting their higher educationon hold to pursue
learning outside of the academic field has been increasing steadily. Although the percentage of
students who are taking a gap year is steadily increasing, in comparison to other countries we are
very much behind. According to the Gap Year Association, many students in other countries wait a
year or more after high school before attending college. For instance, more than 50 percent of
students In Norway, Denmark and Turkey take a gap year before going to college, and that is
according to the Nordic Institute for Studies in Innovation, Research, and Educationin Oslo,
Norway. Gap year better prepares students for college and adulthood in general. Because the
majority of students spend their gap year by

Essay on The Hippie Culture
Many generations have come and gone, and many have made an impact on American life. The
Sixties were definitely one of those generations that left its mark in history. The people of this
generation didn t follow the teachings of their elders, but rejected them for an alternative culture,
which was their very own (Harris 14). This new subculture was such a radical society that it was
given it s own name which is still used to this day. They came to be known as the Hippies.
The Hippie movement originated in San Francisco, California and spread across the United States,
through Canada, and into parts of Europe (World Book), but the Hippie movement had its greatest
influence in America. During the 1960 s a radical subculture ... Show more content on

It was called the Trips Festival. The Trips Festival was a weeklong festival designed to celebrate the
LSD experience (Stern 148). LSD was said to be an intellectual tool to explore psychic ?inner
space,? a new source of kicks for thrill seekers, the sacramental substance of a far out mystical
movement or the latest and most frightening addiction to the list of mind drugs now available in
the pill society being fashioned by pharmacology (Clark 59). Besides this festival dozens of
other events took place at Golden Gate Park, some of which were free concerts by The Grateful
Dead and Jefferson Airplane and Anti War rallies held by Hippie political leaders. The other
park is called the Buena Vista Park and is known for housing hippies at night and for socializing
during the day. As the 1960 s progressed, the youth in America united. In 1969, 400,000 young
people materialized for three dizzying days to listen to rock and blues music, to wear funny
clothing or no clothes at all, to talk, sing, dance, clap hands, to drink beer or smoke pot and make
love but mostly to marvel again and again that they were all there together (This Fabulous Century
64). This festival was held in a small town in up state New York and came to be called Woodstock,
named after the town it was held in.
One of the basic foundations of the Hippie movement was the excessive use of illegal drugs. The

Reasons For Getting A Soundproof Door Installed Essay
Title: Reasons to Get a Soundproof Door Installed
Description It is always very important for people to consider the costs involved in getting a
soundproof door installed within the house.
Noise pollution is something that affects each and every individual living in the modern society. In
this modern world, every individual thinks of relaxing in his or her home without the exterior world
disturbing his quiet and peace. It is also quite fun and enjoyment to get the ability of cranking up
the electric guitar or the cinema system in the house without disturbing the neighbors. Making sure
that the sound insulation in your house is of decent standard can help you in ensuring the fact
that your home serves as that perfect place for relaxing. There are a lot of people who are of the
view that they need to spend a huge amount of money on this special feature. However, these
people are unaware of the fact that there are some inexpensive methods that can also be used. For
example, making use of a soundproof door can always work towards making the home a
comfortable and relaxing place.
Reasons for Getting a Soundproof Door
The main reasons why you should think of proper sound insulation in your house are as follows:
Music: People always think of blasting their favorite tunes while relaxing in their houses. But this
would have the irate neighbors hammering on their doors.
Games Consoles: The noise of children and kids cranking up the television while playing different
video games

The Unclear Treatment for Adhesive Capsulitis
The complete treatment for adhesive capsulitis remains unclear even though numerous
interventions have been studied. Previously published prospective studies of effective treatment
have demonstrated incompatible results for improving shoulder range of motion in patients with
this condition (Ruiz, 2009). Non operative interventions include patient education, modalities,
stretchingexercises, and joint mobilizations (Kelley et al., 2009). Levine et al. stated that 89.5% of
ninety eight patients with frozen shoulderreturned well to non operative management (Kelley et al.,
2009). Reviewed studies recommend that many patients have benefited from physical therapy and
displayed reduced symptoms, increased mobility, and/or functional improvement (Cleland et al.,
2002). However, a Cochrane Review by Green et al. says that there is, no evidence that
physiotherapy alone is of benefit for adhesive capsulitis (Green et al., 2010).
For the treatment of adhesive capsulitis, patient education is crucial in helping to reduce frustration
and encourage compliance. It is important to highlight that although full range of motion may never
be improved, the condition will spontaneously resolve and stiffness will greatly diminish with time.
It is also helpful to give good instructions to the patient and form an appropriate home exercise
program that is easy to fulfill with because daily exercise is critical in releasing symptoms (Kelley
et al., 2009).
Modalities, such as hot packs, can be

Difference of Marketing Product and Service
The Marketing of product and service are different
A product is normally a thing that sold to people and mostly is tangible. Basically, the marketing
of product is particularly focused on 4P s in marketing mix namely product, price, place, and
promotion (Ehmke Fulton Lusk, n.d.). The marketer needs to analyze the major demand of
customers in a specific market in order to find out a product that can respond the market demand.
Firstly, it is necessary for marketers to focus on the strength as well as eliminate the vulnerabilities
of marketed products in order to improve products to meet customer s demand as much as possible.
Secondly, the price is an important factor in product marketing because of the price must be set to
match with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think product and services marketing are significantly different because of characteristic of itself.
The first characteristic of services marketing is intangibility; it cannot be seen, touched or felt prior
consumption. On the other hands, product marketing is tangible, the customer is able to touch,
feel, taste or smell the product either before or after purchasing. For example, when customers walk
through a restaurant, they might get the food smell from the restaurant but they cannot know how
well of service if they do not buy the menu.
Secondly, products can be stored in order to sell to the customer in the next time whereas services
marketing mostly are unable to be inventoried, they are perishable. Hence, the value of service
always exists at the point when it is required. Therefore, it seems to be very difficult to match
supply with demand in service marketing.
Thirdly, the other difference of product and services marketing is the level of relationship between
the client and provider. Undoubtedly, there is much more personal contact required in services
marketing than product marketing. In case of product marketing, customers and sellers may face
each other just once time when they are dealing products and they might have no chance to see
each other again. However, in services marketing, consumers and service providers may have to see
each other frequently throughout until the contract is ended or until the last thing that consumers

Ted Talk Analysis
The author of this Ted Talk is Charlie Todd, who titled it The Shared Experience of Absurdity.
Charlie has been doing improv astonishingly for 10 years since he decided to move to new york
with an interest in acting and comey. When TOdd moved however he didn t have access to a
stage as you can imagine. Determined however to make due with what he had he took to the
public; filming his humorous improv acts with citizens. SInce taking to the streets in improv he
has filmed well over a 100 videos, impressively racking up over 400 million views. Todds
overarching point ironically enough is that their really doesn t need to be a point. Sometimes

Overall the author and speaker of this Ted Talk does a fantastic job in the delivery of his speech.
There are a couple things that can be pointed out in talking about this. For example, one thing the
author does really well is speaking loudly is clearly. There is absolutely no struggle to his to
speaker, nor is there an inconvenience in his pronunciations. This elevates the speech as a
whole. Another strong technique used to helps the strength of the speaker s speech is his use of
well timed pauses. While the speaker does occasionally say Um or Uh those occurrences can be
counted on one . Not only however does he use pauses in place of these overused sounds, he also
uses them very effectively, letting the audience laugh and relate to his examples as they are
displayed rather than talking over them. A final thing that really carries this speech is the speakers
bias. The speaker is

It seems that no one really understands us. By us I mean the people who live every day in fear of
starving or freezing to death. People walk past us on the streets and comment on how sick we
look, but they do nothing to help! They think that if they give us money we will just spend it on
alcohol, cigarettes, or drugs. They don t understand that we are scared, scared of dying, and scared
of having nothing to live for.
I only have one thing to live for, my younger brother. I am responsible for taking care of him
because i was the one who convinced him to run away from the orphanage with me. The way we

This part of the book differs from the first section as it moves into more contemporary narratives and Krogel s personal accounts of narratives. She also connects these interpretations to the contemporary foodsupply problems that Peru faces. She transitions into chapter four by describing the messages which subvert or criticize dominant powerholders in Andean society (Krogel 105) that are found in the narratives she analyzes. The fourth chapter focuses on the female cooks featured in verbal and visual narratives. The fifth chapter becomes more personal, as Krogel listens to the oral performances herself. • 4. Cause And Effects Of Smartphone Addiction 5 6 7 Introduction: The smartphone is still a fairly new invention and is constantly being developed and improved. This device has integrated itself into our culture and is slowly becoming essential to our lives. The younger generation known as Millennials in the age range of 18 35 years old check their cell phones on average about 75.6 times a day (Soto et al., 2017). This number is exceptionally high when compared to the older generation who only check their phone around 23 times a day, according to the same research. This paper will cover cell phone addiction and its effects on the college students lifestyle. Addiction in this case is tied with the substance use criteria in The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM 5). In the criteria it states that substance use is a pathological pattern of behaviors related to use of the substance. Extremely high smartphone use can lead to these behaviors where dependency is an issue. Symptoms of this dependence include anxiety when away from the device, social media addiction due to ease of access, and sedentary behaviors (Lepp et al., 2014). This excessive use is extremely prevalent in the college scene due to how much hinges on their devices. Social media, school, communicating and entertainment all hinge on the smartphone which in turn promotes its use creating a cycle that leads to the addiction that most students are oblivious about. This device has a plethora of effects that range from a decrease in quality academic performance to a complete disatisfaction with life (Lepp et al., 2015). Can this behavior be able to be controlled or stopped using the right interventions? The following text will explore the symptoms and effects of high smartphone usage amongst college students, and see what intervention proves to be the most effective in solving this social issue. 3Biological Perspective: Cell phone use produce a lot of stimuli for the user. Research has begun bringing this to light. There is evidence that shows the relationship between cell phone use and your neurocognitive functions. New research has shown that Cell phone usage may be directly linked to your dopamine levels and tamper with your reward center (La Porta et al., 2006). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Causes Of The Harlem Renaissance The Harlem Renaissance was an important national movement with connections to international developments in art and culture in the African American culture (Wintz). The movement also known as the Jazz Age , started on different dates depending on the viewer s interpretation of the Harlem Renaissance. For instance, if your interpretation of the Harlem Renaissance is literature, then it began in the year 1924. However, most people associate the year 1920 with the creation of the Harlem Renaissance. The Great Migration was one major start to the Harlem Renaissance due to the movement of African Americans from the South to Harlem. The Great Migration was caused by racial discrimination against African Americans as well as slavery. There were racial groups such as the KKK (Ku Klux Klan) that used violence against African Americans to prove a point. Not only were the KKK the cause of the Great Migration but as well as the wanting of improvement in lifestyle. Harlem provided the African Americans the opportunity to receive a better paying job to support their families as well as superior education. As we all know, African Americans did not have an easy life in the South as a result of slavery and segregation. As a result, many African Americans saw Harlem in New York as an opportunity to improve their family s lifestyles along with their own. This led to the development of African American culture, such as jazzmusic, art and literature. For instance, Chick Webbreflects the ideas, values and contributions of the Harlem Renaissance through his accomplishments and musical influence. William Henry Webb was a famous swing era jazz drummer and bandleader, however; he did face many challenges to accomplish his goal. William Henry Webb was born in Baltimore, Maryland with spinal tuberculosis. Spinal tuberculosis affects the spinal vertebrates, which causes the individual to have a lump in their back and prevent them from growing like a normal human being. As a result, William Henry Webb was given the nickname Chick Webb. In addition, his date of birth is unclear due to the lack of documentation during his birth. The attributes theme (specifically the focus on the person, self absorption, and the role of narcissismand self centeredness played in ethicsviolations) was the most influential aspect of this research, in my opinion. It expanded my knowledge base on the lack of ethical thinking that possibly exists in Generation Y, students born in the 80s and 90s. I have three Generation Y children and it does appear that they all struggle with ethical decision making. It s not because they were not exposed to sound moral character modeled around the house. Was the lack of parental involvement while growing up? I don t think so. I ve seen my own kids go off the deep end after conducting themselves unethically. They were brought up with loving and kind parents who provided more than they could ever ask for. Perhaps that is part of the issue....the kids today have too much and didn t have to earn it? Egaeus, in a fit of unconsciousness, pulls her teeth from her mouth and finds them in a box next to him when he comes to reality again. Although there is no time shown where he committed the horrendous act, the narrator awakes from his haze by the sounds of a woman s shriek. The teeth were hers, and the narrator was petrified by his actions he had no memory of doing. Poe uses the narrators gaps in memory to emphasize the lack of control he has, and in doing so, proves further that he is an unreliable narrator. Teeth has the symbolic meaning of health and beauty; the narrator saw the love of his life slowly begin to die and decided to keep what he most admired as a symbol of his love, something that would never die. During the confrontation, she begins to get a feeling of menace from them liking them to Argentine police during Argentina s dirty war. It also allows readers who have gone through similar experiences to relate or affirm their feelings. During the confrontation, the border patrol officers bring in a dog to check for illegal substances or immigrants. She described the dog as a small female German shepherd which was treated very roughly by the border patrol officers. This use of diction paints the dog as a victim of sorts to the border patrol officer s brutish actions. This acts as an appeal to emotion, allowing readers to sympathize with the dog. The dog is first brought to the vehicle to check, but shows no interest. During the search she describes the dog as resistant and showing contempt for the officers. From the moment the first American settlers stepped off their musty ship and laid foot on the fertile soil which makes up our great nation, women in America have almost always been seen as inferior when compared to their male counterparts. What s more, Americans have a rich history in oppressing those we deem to be lesser. In terms of women, this oppression has taken on many forms throughout the years. From not being able to go to school to receive a proper education, to being denied suffrage, to being criticized for how they look or what they wear, women have encountered obstacles that men can sometimes only imagine. We as a nation have a defining past in which women were, and sometimes still are, expected to look or act in a manner defined as appropriate by men and even by each other. Nowadays, it seems as though we are attempting to compensate for the years of mistreatment by sending positive messages of acceptance to young girls and women alike. However, while one half of the population is being praised for their uniqueness, there is still another half who are being left to fend for themselves in the shadows. Men and boys, though always perceived as the strong and indestructible members of society, are not given the same encouraging spotlight as women and girls. We live in a world where problems related to self image and self worth are genderneutral; they do not merely seek to harm a single sex. Why then, does society typically only remind women how truly special they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The purpose was to create a program and coordinate assets of the federal government and state agencies to control and minimize the economic, ecological, and human health impacts caused by invasive species (Bergman). In addition to organizing and establishing federal policy in regards to invaders it defines what an invasive species is. Executive Order 13112 defines an invasive species as an alien species whose introduction does or is likely to cause economic or environmental harm or harm to human health. Invasive species typically harm native species through predation, habitat degradation and competition for shared resources (Cost of Invasive Species, US Fish amp; Wildlife). By defining invasive species the order took strides to narrow the scope of non indigenous species to those who are actively and aggressively pushing our native species out through monopolization of resources and other tactics. This definition takes pains to, therefore, exclude non indigenous species to the United States who are not evicting indigenous species out of their native environment rather they are an almost welcome addition to our ecosystems. During the secondary stage, the lager clears and mellows. The cooler conditions also inhibit the natural production of esters and other byproducts, resulting in a crisper tasting beer. Modern methods of producing lager were pioneered by Gabriel Sedlmayr the Younger, who perfected dark brown lagers at the Spaten Brewery in Bavaria, and Anton Dreher, who began brewing a lager, probably of amber red color, in Vienna in 1840В–1841. With modern improved fermentation control, most lager breweries use only short periods of cold storage, typically 1В–3 weeks. Most of today s lager is based on the Pilsner style, pioneered in 1842 in the town of PlzeГІ, in the Czech Republic. The modern Pilsner lager is light in colour and high in carbonation, with a mild hop flavour and an alcohol content of 3В–6% by volume. The Budweiser brand of beer is a typical example of a pilsner. The five main sub catagories of lagers are: pilsner, bock, helles, dunkel and Oktoberfest. Pilsners defining elements were the extremely soft water that was pumped locally and the unique aromatic hops that were also grown nearby. Pilsners are malty sweet, and well hopped. Caramel flavors are often noticed accompanied by medium to high bitterness. Pilsners have a good amount of carbonation and are clean and crisp. Bock beer is a hearty beer with high alcohol content. His painting was inspired by the ancient Greek myth of Daedalus and Icarus. William Carlos Williams, a Puerto Rican American poet, wrote a poem inspired by Brueghel s work in 1960 similarly titled Landscape with the Fall of Icarus. There is a common theme displayed in both works which both execute and establish this theme with different visual and literary connotations and strengths using differing amounts of information provided through their artistic mediums. which create an effectiveness with the end all goal being to explain that time will pass by regardless of what is going on in an individual s world even if they want it all to stop at once. The painting lays a scene of a landscape of an Island territory and several different people and animals. In the eye catching foreground we see a farmer herding a large amount of animals their focus is darted to the left of the painting. we will come to learn that all mentioned figures and objects in the painting have a visual focus to facing to the left, as our eyes draw towards the right and farther out we notice off in the distance you see an image of the fisherman off to the coast (a pair of legs submersed in water as well not too far off). As Americans, we place significant social, political, and economic importance on the values, benefits, and entertainment we derive from sports. Throughout our history, we have seen examples of how sports have played an important role in shaping our values and attitudes. In 1936 at the Berlin Olympics, Jesse Owens achieved what was thought of at that time and still to this day one of the greatest athletic achievements in history when he won the 100 meters, 200 meter, the long jump, and anchored the U.S. men s 4 X 100 team to victory. The wins were significant to the American people who saw it not only as a conquest over Adolf Hitler s Nazi Germany, but a repudiation of his theory of Aryan racial superiority. Jesse Owen was instrumental in tearing down racial barriers that denied black athletes before them opportunities to compete at the highest levels in sports and sporting events. We have become so aligned with our athletes and the values and principles they project, that anything that threatens that connection is met with ridicule and angry criticism. • 36. The Role Of Religion In The English Colonies Religion s Role in the Development of the English Colonies Religion is one of the fundamental aspects of society. Unfortunately, it is also one of the sparks that can start a war and revolutionize the way we think and certain civilizations traditions. For example, before the Spaniards came to the Central and Southern Americas the Incas had their own religion, but once they were conquered they were forced to convert to Christianity. The Incans had to abandon their way of life and traditions or face punishment. This, along with the near extinction of the race, caused them to lose their beliefs over time. On the other side, religion can also lead to the birth of a new civilization different from the rest, the Americans . Unlike other countries, the United States is a melting pot where people of different ethnic backgrounds, faiths, lifestyles, cultures, and races come together. And this is where it all started. In 1492, Christopher Columbus reached the Americas on the orders of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain. King Ferdinand sent him to claim land and riches for Spain, while Queen Isabella requested that he help spread Christianity. From then on, many missionaries were sent to convert the Natives. This is one example of how religion shaped the Americas. There just more steps in the process eight totaling. Starting with step one being de priming and resizing. Which is almost the same in reloading brass. Re shaping the shell back to the proper dimensions and ejecting the once fired primer out of the shell. Be aware you should never de prime live primers from hulls! when de priming the process could cause live primers to detonate. Step two re priming the shell. With modern shot shell primers have been standardized to the No. 209 size, but, be aware, just because they re there the same size, it doesn t mean they re identical in other capacities. Primers are built with various levels of energy, and each load calls for specific primers. If the primer is not fully seated and sticks out you should attempt to re prime again. Do not keep moving forward in the loading process with a primer that is not fully seated. This step might also be one reason shotgun re loaders prefer to use progressive press other that the amount of shells that can be reloaded. There is a tone change, when he states God, but there is also reference to Henry s religious side. God permits Henry s anger. • 44. Daaethon And Daedalus And Icarus The two myths, Phaethon and Daedalus and Icarus, use literary elements to show how Phaethon and Icarus s prideful disregard of the advice of their elders lead to their deaths. Both authors use conflict, characterization, and imagery to portray the main theme of prideful disregard of the crucial knowledge and advice given to us by those who are older and wiser. The main characters, Icarus and Phaethon, and their story of how they put their pride before their logic and guidance teach us about the consequences of arrogance and ignorance. Conflict is used as a literary element by both authors as an implement to portray the characters disregard of advice given to them from their elders. To illustrate, in the story Phaethon, Phaethon gets into an argument with Epaphus. He states, He taught me how to handle the reins (of the sun chariot, page . this is a lie he tells to impress his friend who is talking about his moments about his own father, Zeus. Afterwards, Epaphus says this is a lie, followed by Phaethon backing up his rash statement and trying to impress his friend even more by saying, He would let me drive the sun chariot alone. . This conflict sets the scene for Phaethon, rash and prideful, to go and try to ride the sun chariot.. This scene is foreshadowing the consequence of his rash decision of trying to prove himself to his friend. • 47. Advantages Of Gap Year I am convinced that one s college education is greatly enhanced by the maturity, experience, and perspective a student can bring post gap year. (Fred A. Hardon). A gap year is a period, usually, one academic year, taken by a student as a break between secondary school and higher education. The gap year as we know it started gaining attraction in the US in the 1960s. During their gap year, students usually travel and experience other cultures, gain work experience, learn other languages, and volunteer. Initially, taking a gap year has not always been socially acceptable in the US, however, it was much more acceptable in many European countries as well as Australia. In more recent years, however, the percentage of students putting their higher educationon hold to pursue learning outside of the academic field has been increasing steadily. Although the percentage of students who are taking a gap year is steadily increasing, in comparison to other countries we are very much behind. According to the Gap Year Association, many students in other countries wait a year or more after high school before attending college. For instance, more than 50 percent of students In Norway, Denmark and Turkey take a gap year before going to college, and that is according to the Nordic Institute for Studies in Innovation, Research, and Educationin Oslo, Norway. • 50. The Unclear Treatment for Adhesive Capsulitis The complete treatment for adhesive capsulitis remains unclear even though numerous interventions have been studied. Previously published prospective studies of effective treatment have demonstrated incompatible results for improving shoulder range of motion in patients with this condition (Ruiz, 2009). Non operative interventions include patient education, modalities, stretchingexercises, and joint mobilizations (Kelley et al., 2009). Levine et al. stated that 89.5% of ninety eight patients with frozen shoulderreturned well to non operative management (Kelley et al., 2009). Reviewed studies recommend that many patients have benefited from physical therapy and displayed reduced symptoms, increased mobility, and/or functional improvement (Cleland et al., 2002). However, a Cochrane Review by Green et al. says that there is, no evidence that physiotherapy alone is of benefit for adhesive capsulitis (Green et al., 2010). For the treatment of adhesive capsulitis, patient education is crucial in helping to reduce frustration and encourage compliance. It is important to highlight that although full range of motion may never be improved, the condition will spontaneously resolve and stiffness will greatly diminish with time. It is also helpful to give good instructions to the patient and form an appropriate home exercise program that is easy to fulfill with because daily exercise is critical in releasing symptoms (Kelley et al., 2009). Basically, the marketing of product is particularly focused on 4P s in marketing mix namely product, price, place, and promotion (Ehmke Fulton Lusk, n.d.). The marketer needs to analyze the major demand of customers in a specific market in order to find out a product that can respond the market demand. I think product and services marketing are significantly different because of characteristic of itself. The first characteristic of services marketing is intangibility; it cannot be seen, touched or felt prior consumption. On the other hands, product marketing is tangible, the customer is able to touch, feel, taste or smell the product either before or after purchasing. For example, when customers walk through a restaurant, they might get the food smell from the restaurant but they cannot know how well of service if they do not buy the menu. Secondly, products can be stored in order to sell to the customer in the next time whereas services marketing mostly are unable to be inventoried, they are perishable. Hence, the value of service always exists at the point when it is required. Therefore, it seems to be very difficult to match supply with demand in service marketing. Thirdly, the other difference of product and services marketing is the level of relationship between the client and provider. Undoubtedly, there is much more personal contact required in services marketing than product marketing. In case of product marketing, customers and sellers may face each other just once time when they are dealing products and they might have no chance to see each other again. However, in services marketing, consumers and service providers may have to see each other frequently throughout until the contract is ended or until the last thing that consumers ...
