Berserk Movie Themes
Among the thousands, millions of different stories throughout every medium of entertainment with
narratives, there s no story that perfectly captures the themes of The Healing Myth more than the
comic book Berserk . Berserk is a Japanese comic book created by Kentaro Miura that began
publishing in 1989, telling the story of Gattsu , or Guts as he is known in the west, and the people he
encounters in the medieval fantasy world of Berserk. Guts life, from the day he was born, is a tragic
ordeal a common summary thrown around by fans of the series is Everything bad that can happen to a
person has happened to Guts . Born under dark circumstances, abused as a child, and only
encountering more tragedy as his life progresses, Guts is a broken ... Show more content on

During that time, he meets a variety of new people while also encountering old faces, namely a
whimsical elf named Puck. The important dynamic between Guts and Puck is how much Guts
opposed having Puck follow him, refusing to accept him. When he eventually does, it is subtle, but a
big step in Guts recovery to trusting others again after being betrayed. Another big development made
in his personality during this time is his realization of how meaningless his travels have been during
those two years, his demon hunt barely displaying results in the larger world. He changes, and instead
of living to take revenge on Griffith, he decides to return to Casca and live to protect her, vowing
never to leave her behind again. A more mature man, Guts departs on a new journey with Casca at his
side, joined by Puck. On this second journey, he s eventually joined by new people who wish to travel
with him and learn about the world through him. Guts, as a character comes around full circle once
again, as he slowly comes to trust the people who join him and even depend on them, eventually
accepting them as

Disadvantages Of Unstructured Interview
Interviews are a part of our day to day lives, with interviews being conducted in every other social
interaction. According to Maccoby and Maccoby (as cited in Brinkmann, 2013, p. 2 3) , an interview
is a face to face verbal exchange, in which one person, the interviewer attempts to elicit information or
expression of opinion or belief from another person or persons . However, there is a difference
between interviews conducted in the normal social settings and interviews conducted for qualitative
research purposes (Stuckey, 2013).
According to Klenke (2016), qualitative interviewing provides a way of generating empirical data
about the social world of informants asking them to talk about their lives (p. 125). It is a purposeful
data collection method with a meaning making ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And as such unstructured interviews are appropriate for collecting data in narrative research design
(Hennink et al., 2011). One of the primary disadvantages of using the unstructured interview methods
is that, this method is time consuming and produces a lot of data (Alsaawi, 2014). However, this
voluminous data is appropriate in enabling the researcher to understand and get in depth information
on a phenomenon (Bryman, 2016).
Of the various approaches of interviewing, the semi structured interview is the most commonly used
data collecting method in social science research (Brinkman, 2013). It employs both the structured and
unstructured interview methods, meaning that the researcher uses both the open ended and close ended
questions. As such it balances the advantages and disadvantages of both the structured and
unstructured interviewing methods. The semi structured interview can be administered either face to
face, through a questionnaire , via telephone or any other electronic method such as skype (McIntosh

Interview With Other Culture
I have a close family friend who moved here from the Philippines when she was twenty six. We have
lived next door to her and her family for over ten years and I never once took the time to learn about
her life before she moved to America. With this being said, before this interview, I had no knowledge
of the Philippine culture. Before this encounter I had no knowledge of the proclamation of Martial
Law placed over the Philippines. Estrellita, the woman I interviewed and spent time with, explained
how she was in her last year of nursing school when the President enacted this law. She claimed that
those were very hard times for the country, but she had to remain strong and complete school. Once
completing school she would be free to seek out an adventure in another country. Some customs never
change, and that is the case for one of the strongest held customs of the Philippine culture. When ...

This experience has given me the opportunity to learn from another culture. The interview with my
friend from the Philippines has influenced me to learn more about the cultures that differ from my
own. I am eager to learn about other cultures and gain knowledge of their values and beliefs. From
this cross cultural experience, I have gained a sense of ease when it comes to interacting with different
cultures. I have learned to be patient and listen well when speaking to a person who has a thick accent.
Allow me to finish with a quotation from Nelson Mandela: No one is born hating another person
because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if
they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart
than it s opposite (Ozdowski, 2013). Diversity is such a wonderful thing, and this cross cultural
experience has shown me that we have so much to learn from cultures other than our

Causes Of Washington s Economic Recession
Fast forward to January 20, 2009, the day Barack Obama was sworn into office, the balance of power
in Washington began to shift back toward its traditional plumb line. President Obama had run on a
platform of ending the two pronged wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Consequently, majority of
Americans seemed to forget that over 9,000 American troops were still fighting a two pronged war.
Americans shifted their focus on fighting the economic recession instead. The economic recession in
the United States that caused widespread public panic made it difficult to enact new free trade
agreements. The global financial crisis and recession that caused the U.S. unemployment rate to rise to
10 percent during the first year of his presidency. The shift in

Hunger In Odysseus
Hunger is seen throughout the Odyssey from the suitors trying to gain the power that Odysseus has
when he is gone, the hunger of Odysseus s men, and the hunger for power and stability in the
kingdom, and lastly the hunger for home from Odysseus. Before time of the journey of Odysseus had
just left his newborn son, Telemachus with his wife Penelope. To fight in the war in Troy, after the war
most soldiers from the war made it home and Odysseus wasn t making people believe he was dead
which led to these events.
First, the suitors are at the castle to be selected as the next king of Ithaca and the new husband to
Penelope. To begin, The suitors fought over the castle and king role physically by fighting each other
and making the maids fear the suitors by raping them. Secondly, The suitors pressured Penelope to
marry them and pressured her sexually, all for the hunger to gain a relationship with Penelope all
working for the same goal to be picked to be the next king. Finally, the suitors fought physically and

Alice Monroe Boys And Girls
How would you react when someone forces expectations on to you that you disagree with? Would you
try to reason with them, or just give in and act the way they expect of you? In the short story Boys and
Girls by Alice Monroe has a girl go through and answer that question in her story. At first disagreeing,
after being pressures by the people in her family she gives in to the ideas that others had set on her.
The life of the narrator conveys the idea that an individual may have to conform to the rolls society
sets on them.
At first, the narrator disagrees with how her family expects her to be. Specifically, her mother
expectations, as she is the most direct stating I just get my back turned and she runs off. It s not like I
had a girl in the family at all. The narrator instead of working with her mother inside their house
prefers to work out doors in her father s fox farm. Directly conflicting with how her mother perceives

Flora breaks away before they were going to kill her. The narrator s is called by her dad to close the
gate out of the field into the town, but she doesn t. As she reaches it, she opens up the gate as wide as
she can and can t tell her self why. Monroe is using this moment to symbolize her tipping point, where
she stops rebelling and give ins. When she opens the gate it symbolizes her will to ignore the pressure
being set on her leaving. At night what was her favorite time of the day changes. When she tells her
self stories at they start the same, but end up focusing on how long her hair was, or what kind of dress
she had. They no longer have the same excitement they once had. As the story ends they find out that
she was the one that let flora out. The narrator remarks her change in view when they call her just a

Politics in the Gilded Age
Discuss Politics in the Gilded Age. Include major political events and issues, and the roles of the
bloody shirt, corruption, patronage, and reform movements.
The term Gilded Age was named for a Mark Twain book. It meant covered with gold, and was applied
to this period as a whole. This was a period of corruption in sordid politics.
The Republicans and Democrats didn t really have strong opposing beliefs during this period. The
Republicans supported high tariffs and sound money. The Democrats supported lower tariffs and
expanded currency. Both rural and urban classes supported each party. They worked with spoils and

He had little knowledge of politics, and depended on his fellow politicians. These men, in turn,
involved in scandals to embezzle money from the government. One was the Great Mobilier scandal; it
dealt with the Union Pacific Railroad. The Construction Company hired themselves at inflated prices
to build railroad lines, and distributed shares of stock to congressmen. A scandal during Grant s
second term, was the Whisky Ring. This scandal was uncovered in St. Louis, and consisted of selling
whiskey without the excise tax. In return it defrauded the government out of millions of dollars.
Belknap was selling goods and trading with the Indians for lower prices.
During Grant s administration the monetary issues were inflation, cheap money, and greenbacks. The
debtors, especially farmers, wanted cheap money. However, Grant vetoed the bill to print more money,
and supported withdrawing greenbacks from circulation.
Hayes won the disputed election. Four states submitted irregular returns. It was disputed if the
Republican president of the Senate or the Democratic Speaker of the House should count them. It was
decided that an electoral commission made up of fifteen men. There were eight Republicans and seven
Democrats, so the Republicans won. The Democrats would only accept this with conditions, one of
which was to remove troops from the south.

Potassium is a mineral found inside body cells. It is one of several minerals known as electrolytes.
These minerals (potassium, sodium, and chloride) are found in the fluids inside of body cells
(intracellular) and outside the cells (extracellular).
Functions: Potassium is important in human body because it helps:
Maintain water balance and acid base balance along with sodium
Muscles contract, including maintaining a normal heartbeat
Transmit nerve impulses
Maintain normal blood pressure

Race in Shakespeare
Since the Middle Ages, the issues of race have long been discussed. In nearly every culture, race has
been a topic of complex discussion that has brought social discomfort and in most instances racial
prejudice Elizabethan England being no exception. William Shakespeare applies the issue of race in
many of his plays; such in the tragedy of Othello that captures the reality of society in Elizabethan
England, showing common racial bias of that era. Through his characters in the play, Shakespeare
illustrates Elizabethan social ideology towards race, in which foreigners have adapted to a lifestyle of
racial prejudice.
In order to better understand the racial context behind the tragedy of Othello it is important to keep in

This as we see in the play provokes more racial slurs towards Othello, although the love that
Desdemona and Othello share for each other is too strong for race to become an issue between them.
In the opening act of the play we see Iago, a veteran military man of Venice and the harshest critic of
Othello throughout the play, share with Roderigo and the audience his intentions of revenge against
Othello. Here not only do we unravel Iago s personal hatred for Othello, but Roderigo s racial views
as well. What a full fortune does the thick lips owe if he can carry t thus! (I, i ,65) Roderigo, who
wants to win Desdemona s love away from Othello at any cost, calls Othello as thick lips , a racial
stereotype of blacks, when responding to Iago about their plans to turn Venetians such as Desdemona s
father Brabantio, against Othello. As Roderigo and Iago go to awake Brabantio in the middle of the
night to tell him of the news that Desdemona ran off with Othello to get married, multiple stereotypes
and slurs are used in this exchange. Iago tells Brabantio that he s been robbed of his soul, for Othello
has taken Desdemona by some sort of curse, being that there s no way a prominent Venetian woman
would go off to marry a barbarian instead of a Venetian man. Because we come to do you service and

Neverland Fire Department Case Study
The Neverland Volunteer Fire Department is facing multiple challenges. Not only the possibility of
amalgamation within the Horizon County is pending over the Fire Department, it seems to be
affecting department head officials to a point where unity of command is really fragile. The internal
problems that we see happening is causing a lack of respect between firefighters and higher ups and
even between managers itself. Not only respect is fundamental in a fire service but it is also essential
to maintain a professional level of services. The first thing that I ve noticed was the lack of
confidentiality at the firehouse. For any reason, the conversation between Deputy Chief Emerson and
Miss Shaver should not have been heard by any staff members from Station 3. When confidentiality is
compromised, the level of respect between firefighters and officers will deteriorate. Therefore, could it
be possible that the lack of confidentiality and the lack of respect within the Neverland Fire
Department are the leading cause of a poor relationship between the Fire ... Show more content on

Lakota is a Siouan language, which spoken by its people (Lakota people) belonging to the Sioux
tribes. It is one of the dialects of the Sioux language, the others being Dakota and Nakota (Powers,

made by snakes before they bite. Later, Nadowe dropped, and French trappers and traders changed Su
to Sioux. Spoken by more than 30,000 people in the US and Canada and it, therefore, takes number
five of the most spoken native languages in the United States. Lakota is one of the three major

The Plastic Pink Flamingo, By Jennifer Price
In American society, wealth has played a particularly significant role in shaping the culture and
standards set for our country. With every dilemma that has occurred, money was been an underlying
deciding factor in the end. John.F.Kennedy makes this very clear in his statement on lowering the
prices of steel, all the way Jennifer Price s take on people being obsessed with a money, even Scott
Russell s article on the status quo Americans believe determines one s happiness and success. All of
these passages tie together to show just how money influences our very own society.
In John.F.Kennedy s commentary on the prices of steel, he asserts his point with a very invective,
serious tone but as the commentary progresses, he then switched to a more neutral, sincere choice of
words. He continues on to say that increasing steel prices by some 6 ... Show more content on

Technology Is A Key Component
Introduction
As technology becomes more and more prevalent in classrooms everywhere, questions arise regarding
the benefits and drawbacks on introducing technology to students at a young age. Technology is a key
component in many of today s educational settings; however, there are concerns as to whether
technology is being used as an aid and resource or as a crutch and whether or not technology is
replacing teachers. Despite these concerns, according to Barron, Harms, and Kalaydjian (2003) the use
of technology is increasing in classrooms across America. Teachers are using technology to perform
low level tasks, but not high level tasks. This could possibly be because many teachers are not
comfortable with the skills required to integrate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They reviewed the work of Sarij Blatchford, who has identified communication and collaboration,
metacognition and creative learning that can be engaged with technology in the classroom. However,
he still expresses the importance of adult and peer support and having the appropriate resources for
use. Stephen and Plowman (2008) themselves even question the conditions necessary for young
children to have a productive and positive encounter with technology. Traditionally children s use of
technology, such as computers, was during free playtime, which was often unproductive, so this study
focused on guiding children s interaction with information and communication technology in the
classroom setting.
Mitchell and Dunbar (2006) conducted an analysis of computers used in the nursery setting and the
benefits and concerns that may occur. They reviewed the works of Corders and Miller who argue that
the introduction of the computer to nursery school is inappropriate. They suggested that it pushed
children into becoming skilled little technicians. They view freedom to play, imagine, and enjoy the
experience of the world is more essential. The preschool Curricular Guidance argued that children
should have opportunities to used a range of ICT resources which will enhance and extend learning as
well as give them opportunities to engage in self directed learning.

The History Of Interracial Marriage
Social norms have long been dictated by racism. Prior to the Loving v. Virginia Supreme Court Case
in 1967, it was socially acceptable for certain states to dictate which race of people one could marry
from. For example, in many southern states, it was illegal for a white man to marry a black woman. It
was not until the Loving v. Virginia case reached the Supreme Court in 1966 that the constitutionality
of these laws was considered. The Loving v. Virginia case erupted when Richard and Mildred Loving
were arrested when they returned to their house in Caroline County, Virginia after traveling to
Washington D.C. to get married (Newbeck and Wolfe). Prior to the Supreme Court ruling that laws
preventing interracial marriage were unconstitutional, interracial marriages were extremely rare.
However, after this ruling was made, the popularity of interracial marriages began to slowly climb.
Sadly, despite the increase in popularity, social acceptance of these marriages had not increased until
the last twenty years (Rosentiel).
According to PEW Research, a notorious research company based in Washington D.C., interracial
couples are becoming more widely accepted than they were in 1967. Today, Nearly four in ten adults
say...people marrying someone of a different race is good for society. (Bailik). Although this statistic
may seem low, it is important to remember that the remaining people are not necessarily against
interracial marriage. In fact, Americans today are also less likely to

Breaking The Law In Antigone
Antigone Essay The government has always controlled the way the people live by making laws that
gives the people rights, resources, and protection. The government provides protection to the people to
protect them from crime and criminals in the country. There are some people who disagree with
certain laws because they feel like they are not treated the same as other people in the same society or
feel the law is unjustified. The people protest by breaking the law to make their point to the
government. This action is not the right way to confront the government about their laws. The
message in Antigone is when people obey the government and its laws, that will lead to the people
having the right to peacefully disagree with those laws because the people preserve their governments
protection. The play Antigone takes place after the deaths of Antigone`s brothers. Antigone wanted her
brother Polynices, who died in war to be properly buried. Polynice was the king, but he was replaced
by Creon and he order that Polynices will not be properly buried. This order makes Antigone very
upset, so she decided to bury her brother herself. Antigone is then caught and is sent to king Creon for

History Of Science And The Natural Sciences
In the last several years I have developed two main areas of focus: I am interested in the history of
scientific diagrams (including maps) as a combination of the history of visualization and theories of
representation, as well as in the more physical spaces of science, including natural history museums,
hospitals, and laboratories. Since the last years of my undergraduate degree at Rice, I have been
interested in the intersections of science and architecture. I completed my BA in two major fields
architecture and civil engineering and thus have a firm background in both the humanities and the
natural sciences. Outside of school, I gained experience in both architecture and experimental physics.
At no time did I try to separate my practical training in either field from my more scholarly interests in
their overlap, and I have continued this inter disciplinary interest by constructing a dual PhD program
at Harvard, enrolling in both the History of Science and History of Architecture Urban Planning
programs. (I will fulfill the course and general examination requirements of both departments, and
write one dissertation. My committee will include professors from both fields.)
One topic that particularly interests me is the development of American laboratories in the late
nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Laboratories have existed in several contexts from the work of
individual inventors and corporate R D to academic departments and governmental agencies and their

Growing up Poor I did not realize until about the 5th grade, what being poor was all about. From
kindergarten until then, kids didn t really pay attention to what you wore to school, what type of home
you lived in, or what your parents did for a living. What mattered was how nice you were, that you
shared your toys, and took turns on the playground. Fifth grade started a whole new chapter in life. It
started with a new school with both familiar and unfamiliar faces and with that, new challenges that
included trying to fit in with your peers. Not until I started getting questions like, You get free lunch?

open the scroll and to loose its seals? Revelation 5:1 2 (New King James Version)
During an African American history class, the book, Follow the Drinking Gourd, by Francis Gaither
(1940), referenced imagery and symbolism of the American slaves who sought freedom using the
Underground Railroad as the link from south to north. The gourd was the wooden ladle used by the
slaves to dip water. Gaither writes, Various elements from the song and the Parks account describing it
are woven into the novel. For example, looming overhead ...swung the Great Dipper the Drinking
Gourd... The stars of the Big Dipper pointed the slaves to the north. Gaither continues, All of the
characters in this story are fictional except Peg leg Joe, a real person associated in Southern legend
with the Drinking Gourd song and with that part of Alabama where it was once current. Listening to
the song used, it repeats itself for the reader to understand that the result is freedom.
The preceding story is a similarity to the book of Revelation. Full of imagery and symbolism to reflect
the situation at hand. For the modern day reader, the book can seem like a 1000 word jigsaw puzzle.
Society today does not use images and symbols as times past. During the time, John remained
deserted on the Isle of Patmos

Umbilical Cord Blood Harvesting
I. Introduction A. Attention getting opener: There is a critical need for effective, long term solutions
for harvesting stem cells. Already there are more than 300,000 units stored worldwide. These products
have been banked under stringent quality conditions, in order to ensure their safety and efficacy,
(Vladareanu, Mihailescu Zvanca, 20070, p. 142). B. Credibility statement: Abundant research shows
that harvesting stem cells from umbilical cord blood offers crucial advantages over other methods,
including bone marrow and peripheral blood. C. Thesis: Although not an ideal medium for harvesting,
and will not replace other types of stem cell sources, umbilical cord blood should be an integral part of
the blood/tissue bank repertoire. II. Advantages of using umbilical cord blood. A. Immunology 1.
Umbilical cord blood (UCB) contains stem and progenitor cells capable of restoring haematopoietic
and immunological function in vivo, (Navarette Contreras, 2009, p. 236). 2. Umbilical cord blood
stem cells can be transplanted to regenerate a patient s immune system, (Vladareanu, Mihailescu
Zvanca, 20070, p. 142). B. Pre frozen/cryopreservation 1. cryopreservation allows for the storage of
stem cells for future use, eliminating need for searching for suitable donor 2. Especially true when
minorities need transplants (Samuel, et. Al, 2007). C. Advantages over other forms of stem cell 1.
Bone marrow cell harvesting may be detrimental due to the

Is The Significance Of I Heard It In The Chillest Land By...
A beautiful metaphor is expressed as a majestic bird that sings forever, and soars to guide you
anywhere and anytime. Its obliging and altruistic characteristics towards the author in times of
difficulty and relief portrays its something that never leaves nor gives up, hope.
Hope is the thing with feathers is the author s perceived idea of hope, (a bird) that is found to be
singing forever and is an unstoppable light discovered in the midst of every struggle.
Emily Dickinson was an American poet, and her impassioned and inspirational writing pieces have
greatly impacted the world, making her one of the most important poets of the 19th century and is still
famous today.

The bird has willingly come to just help, without asking for anything else in return, being that one
guide to stay by your side. Emily Dickinson is truly a powerful and encouraging poet that speaks to
the reader through her writing. When I first read the title of this poem, Hope is the thing with feathers,
it really grasped my attention and lured me to read more about it, hence its unusual name. The way
Dickinson describes such simple things and expands the reader s perception, exposes the mind to
another level of profundity. For instance, the lines And sings the tune without the words
And never stops at all ... And sweetest in the Gale is heard the way it is written with its brief pauses
using the hyphens, gives a sensual way of being read providing more emotion into the poem. This
definitely is a passionate and expressing piece I will remember and keep with

Professional Athlete Controversy
Professional sports have evolved into one of the most influential aspects of modern culture. The
unscripted nature of competition, combined with larger than life figures, like Peyton Manning and
Lebron James, has inevitably resulted in people looking towards sportspeople for guidance and
inspiration. However, this unintended consequence is where the controversy surrounding professional
athletes arises. With such a tremendous level of influence, recent scandals have caused people to
question whether the social position of athletes somehow obligates them to behave in a manner that
conveys a positive message to others. In other words, spectators, such as Bethany Withers of The New
York Times, argue that the influential nature of being a star athlete ... Show more content on

In other words, she agrees with Golden that selective implementation, the act of choosing when and
how to enforce league regulations, on the part of league officials has created an environment in which
punishments are determined based on the caliber of athlete (par.5). However, Withers argues that
regardless of what the league does to condone or neglect misconduct, at the end of the day
unscrupulous athletes are responsible for their own actions and should henceforth be held accountable
for the recurring violence that has plagued professional sports, as well as the negative influence they
have on fans. To support this claim, she draws attention to the case of Aaron Hernandez, the New
England Patriots tight end who found success in the NFL, despite of his consistent off field drug usage
and violent demeanor, before eventually being indicted on murder charges for the death of Odin Lloyd
(par. 5). She argues that this type of repetitive criminal behavior is indicative of a sociopath and only
succeeds in sending a negative message to today s youth. Therefore, she believes that in order to
address this issue, individuals must recognize the level of

Steroids Solution in Sports Many famous individuals in sports have tried to cheat their way out huge
contracts with the help of substances that enhance their abilities. When fans trust is being played
because of this act of insult to the culture of sports, it should bring shame to the individuals who took
part in the accident. Many athletes have been caught and have received punishment, minor
punishments, but there shall be more that are willing to try to take the risk. A solution to this matter is
to end the individual s contract ,or just distribute the money to many charities that need the money or

The most talked stat that always been argued to see who the best is the home runs. The steroid era has
been devastating for fans that appreciated the game, but no one cannot say that. Kids and adults were
leaving the action players brought to the field every day. Many did not know a lot about the steroids
being used by famous players, but there were rumors in and out teams. Having a substance that will
guarantee help in hand and eye coördination, better endurance, speed, power, agility and more is the
miracle substance for any athlete. Being fun and all, there are numbers that alarms scouts, managers,
general managers, fans, media, and more when a player is being productive. When a player is having a
good year on the field, making a noise and maintaining the level of play throughout the season is
coming. Seeing the same player having more than one horrible season is also common. But when
players stats are constant for many seasons, that is when red flags come up and questions are followed
by it. In the year 2000 according to FanGraphs there were a total of 5,692 home runs in 190,246 plate
appearances (FanGraph pg. 1). There were 139,086 contact plays from players in that season recorded,
which dictate that the percentage of home runs from contact was 4.1% (FanGraph pg. 1). This means
that at in every game there was at least 2 to 4 home runs. That is incredibly high for a season because

Marijuana a drug or elixir of good health.
Marijuana is a very controversial topic today. The United States made it illegal in the mid 1920 and
has been illegal ever since until recent times. It has been told that Medical marijuana has many health
benefits and is also proven to help cure some deadly diseases. Using marijuana for medicinal purposes
is not a recent discovery. The use of marijuana dates back nearly 5000 years. Western medicine
embraced its medicinal properties in the mid 1800 s. Physicians have published more than 100 papers
in the western medical literature recommending its use for a variety of disorders (Urena). India is the

and other deadly diseases. In this argumentative essay I am going to link the medicinal benefits of
using marijuana and how it can help the people of India.
Cannabis consumption and production are governed by the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic

  • 2. Berserk Movie Themes Among the thousands, millions of different stories throughout every medium of entertainment with narratives, there s no story that perfectly captures the themes of The Healing Myth more than the comic book Berserk . Berserk is a Japanese comic book created by Kentaro Miura that began publishing in 1989, telling the story of Gattsu , or Guts as he is known in the west, and the people he encounters in the medieval fantasy world of Berserk. Guts life, from the day he was born, is a tragic ordeal a common summary thrown around by fans of the series is Everything bad that can happen to a person has happened to Guts . Born under dark circumstances, abused as a child, and only encountering more tragedy as his life progresses, Guts is a broken ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During that time, he meets a variety of new people while also encountering old faces, namely a whimsical elf named Puck. The important dynamic between Guts and Puck is how much Guts opposed having Puck follow him, refusing to accept him. When he eventually does, it is subtle, but a big step in Guts recovery to trusting others again after being betrayed. Another big development made in his personality during this time is his realization of how meaningless his travels have been during those two years, his demon hunt barely displaying results in the larger world. He changes, and instead of living to take revenge on Griffith, he decides to return to Casca and live to protect her, vowing never to leave her behind again. A more mature man, Guts departs on a new journey with Casca at his side, joined by Puck. On this second journey, he s eventually joined by new people who wish to travel with him and learn about the world through him. Guts, as a character comes around full circle once again, as he slowly comes to trust the people who join him and even depend on them, eventually accepting them as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Disadvantages Of Unstructured Interview Interviews are a part of our day to day lives, with interviews being conducted in every other social interaction. According to Maccoby and Maccoby (as cited in Brinkmann, 2013, p. 2 3) , an interview is a face to face verbal exchange, in which one person, the interviewer attempts to elicit information or expression of opinion or belief from another person or persons . However, there is a difference between interviews conducted in the normal social settings and interviews conducted for qualitative research purposes (Stuckey, 2013). According to Klenke (2016), qualitative interviewing provides a way of generating empirical data about the social world of informants asking them to talk about their lives (p. 125). It is a purposeful data collection method with a meaning making ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And as such unstructured interviews are appropriate for collecting data in narrative research design (Hennink et al., 2011). One of the primary disadvantages of using the unstructured interview methods is that, this method is time consuming and produces a lot of data (Alsaawi, 2014). However, this voluminous data is appropriate in enabling the researcher to understand and get in depth information on a phenomenon (Bryman, 2016). Of the various approaches of interviewing, the semi structured interview is the most commonly used data collecting method in social science research (Brinkman, 2013). It employs both the structured and unstructured interview methods, meaning that the researcher uses both the open ended and close ended questions. As such it balances the advantages and disadvantages of both the structured and unstructured interviewing methods. The semi structured interview can be administered either face to face, through a questionnaire , via telephone or any other electronic method such as skype (McIntosh Morse, ... We have lived next door to her and her family for over ten years and I never once took the time to learn about her life before she moved to America. With this being said, before this interview, I had no knowledge of the Philippine culture. Before this encounter I had no knowledge of the proclamation of Martial Law placed over the Philippines. Estrellita, the woman I interviewed and spent time with, explained how she was in her last year of nursing school when the President enacted this law. She claimed that those were very hard times for the country, but she had to remain strong and complete school. Once completing school she would be free to seek out an adventure in another country. Some customs never change, and that is the case for one of the strongest held customs of the Philippine culture. When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This experience has given me the opportunity to learn from another culture. The interview with my friend from the Philippines has influenced me to learn more about the cultures that differ from my own. I am eager to learn about other cultures and gain knowledge of their values and beliefs. From this cross cultural experience, I have gained a sense of ease when it comes to interacting with different cultures. I have learned to be patient and listen well when speaking to a person who has a thick accent. Allow me to finish with a quotation from Nelson Mandela: No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than it s opposite (Ozdowski, 2013). Causes Of Washington s Economic Recession Fast forward to January 20, 2009, the day Barack Obama was sworn into office, the balance of power in Washington began to shift back toward its traditional plumb line. President Obama had run on a platform of ending the two pronged wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Consequently, majority of Americans seemed to forget that over 9,000 American troops were still fighting a two pronged war. Americans shifted their focus on fighting the economic recession instead. In nearly every culture, race has been a topic of complex discussion that has brought social discomfort and in most instances racial prejudice Elizabethan England being no exception. William Shakespeare applies the issue of race in many of his plays; such in the tragedy of Othello that captures the reality of society in Elizabethan England, showing common racial bias of that era. Not only the possibility of amalgamation within the Horizon County is pending over the Fire Department, it seems to be affecting department head officials to a point where unity of command is really fragile. The internal problems that we see happening is causing a lack of respect between firefighters and higher ups and even between managers itself. Not only respect is fundamental in a fire service but it is also essential to maintain a professional level of services. The first thing that I ve noticed was the lack of confidentiality at the firehouse. For any reason, the conversation between Deputy Chief Emerson and Miss Shaver should not have been heard by any staff members from Station 3. All of these passages tie together to show just how money influences our very own society. Technology is a key component in many of today s educational settings; however, there are concerns as to whether technology is being used as an aid and resource or as a crutch and whether or not technology is replacing teachers. Despite these concerns, according to Barron, Harms, and Kalaydjian (2003) the use of technology is increasing in classrooms across America. For example, in many southern states, it was illegal for a white man to marry a black woman. It was not until the Loving v. Virginia case reached the Supreme Court in 1966 that the constitutionality of these laws was considered. The Loving v. Virginia case erupted when Richard and Mildred Loving were arrested when they returned to their house in Caroline County, Virginia after traveling to Washington D.C. to get married (Newbeck and Wolfe). Prior to the Supreme Court ruling that laws preventing interracial marriage were unconstitutional, interracial marriages were extremely rare. However, after this ruling was made, the popularity of interracial marriages began to slowly climb. Sadly, despite the increase in popularity, social acceptance of these marriages had not increased until the last twenty years (Rosentiel). According to PEW Research, a notorious research company based in Washington D.C., interracial couples are becoming more widely accepted than they were in 1967. Today, Nearly four in ten adults say...people marrying someone of a different race is good for society. (Bailik). Although this statistic may seem low, it is important to remember that the remaining people are not necessarily against interracial marriage. In fact, Americans today are also less likely to ... The government provides protection to the people to protect them from crime and criminals in the country. There are some people who disagree with certain laws because they feel like they are not treated the same as other people in the same society or feel the law is unjustified. The people protest by breaking the law to make their point to the government. This action is not the right way to confront the government about their laws. The message in Antigone is when people obey the government and its laws, that will lead to the people having the right to peacefully disagree with those laws because the people preserve their governments protection. History Of Science And The Natural Sciences In the last several years I have developed two main areas of focus: I am interested in the history of scientific diagrams (including maps) as a combination of the history of visualization and theories of representation, as well as in the more physical spaces of science, including natural history museums, hospitals, and laboratories. Since the last years of my undergraduate degree at Rice, I have been interested in the intersections of science and architecture. I completed my BA in two major fields architecture and civil engineering and thus have a firm background in both the humanities and the natural sciences. Outside of school, I gained experience in both architecture and experimental physics. At no time did I try to separate my practical training in either field from my more scholarly interests in their overlap, and I have continued this inter disciplinary interest by constructing a dual PhD program at Harvard, enrolling in both the History of Science and History of Architecture Urban Planning programs. (I will fulfill the course and general examination requirements of both departments, and write one dissertation. My committee will include professors from both fields.) One topic that particularly interests me is the development of American laboratories in the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries. From kindergarten until then, kids didn t really pay attention to what you wore to school, what type of home you lived in, or what your parents did for a living. What mattered was how nice you were, that you shared your toys, and took turns on the playground. Fifth grade started a whole new chapter in life. It started with a new school with both familiar and unfamiliar faces and with that, new challenges that included trying to fit in with your peers. It was a lady s handkerchief, but I didn t want Helene to see me wipe my nose on my hand. The pipes were frozen again, there was no water in the house, but I washed my socks and shirt every night. I d get a pot, and go over to Mister Ben s grocery store, and stick my pot down into his soda machine and scoop out some chopped ice. By evening the ice melted to water for washing. Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose its seals? Revelation 5:1 2 (New King James Version) During an African American history class, the book, Follow the Drinking Gourd, by Francis Gaither (1940), referenced imagery and symbolism of the American slaves who sought freedom using the Underground Railroad as the link from south to north. The gourd was the wooden ladle used by the slaves to dip water. Gaither writes, Various elements from the song and the Parks account describing it are woven into the novel. For example, looming overhead ...swung the Great Dipper the Drinking Gourd... The stars of the Big Dipper pointed the slaves to the north. Gaither continues, All of the characters in this story are fictional except Peg leg Joe, a real person associated in Southern legend with the Drinking Gourd song and with that part of Alabama where it was once current. Listening to the song used, it repeats itself for the reader to understand that the result is freedom. The preceding story is a similarity to the book of Revelation. Full of imagery and symbolism to reflect the situation at hand. For the modern day reader, the book can seem like a 1000 word jigsaw puzzle. Advantages of using umbilical cord blood. A. Immunology 1. Umbilical cord blood (UCB) contains stem and progenitor cells capable of restoring haematopoietic and immunological function in vivo, (Navarette Contreras, 2009, p. 236). 2. The unscripted nature of competition, combined with larger than life figures, like Peyton Manning and Lebron James, has inevitably resulted in people looking towards sportspeople for guidance and inspiration. With such a tremendous level of influence, recent scandals have caused people to question whether the social position of athletes somehow obligates them to behave in a manner that conveys a positive message to others. To support this claim, she draws attention to the case of Aaron Hernandez, the New England Patriots tight end who found success in the NFL, despite of his consistent off field drug usage and violent demeanor, before eventually being indicted on murder charges for the death of Odin Lloyd (par. 5).
