How to Become the Receiver of Memory
Book Talk Script
What does the Receiver of Memory do in the book? The Giver took place in a community where there
are no emotions and they all wore white clothes so no color inside the community. Jonas was the main
character in the book and was a twelve year old waiting to be told what his adult job was going to be.
He was nervous for December to come around because that s when the ceremony was being hold for
all the age groups. Jonas s dad title was a nurturer and he was responsible for all the physical and
emotional needs of every newchild during its earliest life. Jonas s mom works as a judge for criminal
defense and she takes her job is important. She helped people who got in trouble find a way to get
better and know what they did was wrong in their ways. Jonas s sister Lily who was seven years old
went to the Childcare Center where she stayed until her parents got off work. The giver is about how
Jonas is waiting to see what his adult job was going to be. Jonas liked being a kid so he could play
with his friends in the community and not have any responsibilities like the adults do. He was waiting
for December to come around to have the ceremony and figure out his adult job. When the ceremony
rolls around, his number ends up getting skipped and is worried about what is fixing to happen to him.
Then she calls on him last because he got the most important job there. He was going to be the

Writing Instruments That Evolved Into A Process
Dturing English 122, I adapted several writing instruments that evolved into a process, in turn, I used
this to compose my first and final drafts of my narrative and persuasive essays. Originating the term, I
had a fear and deep resentment for writing; however, in week three, I finally attained a point where I
began to enjoy the writing process. When I look back over the last eight weeks, I use three things that
improved my writing, specifically, a process style chart, transitional phrases, and the proper way of
revising my assignment for this course that improved my writing and will benefit future classes. First,
process style chart (MindEdge 5.01), profoundly improved the speed, organization, and quality of my
composition. I merely transferred the process of module five, Refining the Order of Your Ideas (#2
MindEdge 5.01), to index cards; thus, allowing reorganization or removal of topics, subtopics, and
details by simply moving an index card. Exerted from My Experiences With Writing , Then, I noticed
that at the end she commented on what I did well, In turn, making the mistakes seem like something I
should just work on. SNHU 107 has helped me shed that unpleasant experience and write slightly
better papers with a more focused and consistent Batson 2

The Causes Of Childhood Obesity
Causes of Childhood Obesity Imagine yourself walking into a kindergarten class, and all you see are
obese children not walking, but moving on wheels because they simply cannot walk anymore due to
their excess body weight. Their legs are so weak since they have to handle so much more weight than
what they are designed to do. This vision may no longer be fictional if the world keeps ignoring the
issue of childhood obesity. Nowadays, not only adults, but the number of children who are obese are
incredibly high. The topic has to be taken more seriously because it is not only bad for their health
obviously but it is also abusive. Youngsters with obesity will tend to stay obese when they grow up
and we can all agree that it is not so pleasant to be in such circumstances. These children are our
worthiest fortune and the world s future generation. When the time comes, their quality of life and
level of happiness will accurately reflect how we raise them and how much caring and love do we
have toward them. Every issue has its own roots of problems and we have to identify those before
heading to find solutions. Definitions: According to researches over decades, overweight or obese are
usually used to describe the condition of having too much excess body fat. The most common way to
measure if someone is overweight is based on their BMI. Someone with a BMI over 30 will be
considered as obese. In the 21th century where technology has become another irreplaceable factor of

Public Health Policy And The Care Crisis
Public health policy is associated with the need to imposition public health professionals to consider
leading gaps in the future of health care crisis. The purpose is to protect the underserved and
underinsured population by the need to propose public health policy to safeguard individual s health
(Laureate Education, 2012). By protecting community health, in turn, helps control the cost of the
over burdensome healthcare expenses (Getzen, 2013). A public health professional has an obligation
to influence the health status through evidence based policymaking needed to intervene for policy
makers. Given financial constraint to reduce health disparities financial preparation and disseminative
communication are the essential tools needed to make supplement legislative policy (Brownson,
Chriqui, Stamatakis, 2009; Laureate Education, 2012). The future financing to improve and amend
required policy is through evidence based health surveillance that helps public health professionals
decide the direction of where budget containment should be allocated (Brownson et al., 2009).
A public health specialist is responsible for the setting up the priorities to inform and advise
stakeholders and government agencies where allocated funding should be directed. It is through the
public health professionals consistence support that financing for public health services are increasing
for the population (Laureate Education, 2012). Moreover, public health professionals are in charge of

Analysis Of The Poem Eve Of Her Daughters And ...
The two poems I have chosen to analyze are Judith Wright s Eve to Her Daughters (992) and Robert
Browning s Porphyria s Lover (642) and what they have in relation to one another. I will be examining
the dramatic monologue form that takes place in both poems and how it could present the image and
possibility for coercion. I will discuss how, with the utilization of dramatic monologue, we as the
audience, experience the speaker s world with a glimpse into their personal perspectives alongside
with their mentalities. Furthermore, I will highlight the similarities and differences between the
poems, how both poems interact with one another, and what we can comprehend with both poems that
would not be possible if viewed separately. In regards to Judith Wright s Eve to Her Daughters (992)
this poem is coming from a coercion place of female oppression. Whereas, Robert Browning s
Porphyria s Lover (642) coercion place comes from one of compulsion to enforce his will upon his
lover Porphyria.
In Eve to Her Daughters the speaker is Eve and we, as the audience, are her daughters listening to her
story and guidance. The dramatic monologue we thereby envision is all through Eve s eyes and
therefore, we are able to experience what she is experiencing. The casualness of this poem and with
Eve s little jabs regarding Adam, But Adam, you know...! (8) makes it seem as if Eve is genuinely
speaking to us as if we were truly her daughters and that we personally are familiar with how

Essay about The Success of the Massachusetts Bay Colony
In the 1600 s, two colonies were establishing themselves on the east coast of North
America. In 1607, a group of merchants, known as the Virginia Company, settled at Jamestown,
Virginia on the Chesapeake Bay (Divine, 72); while Puritan leader John Winthrop, stationed himself
and his followers at Massachusetts Bay in 1630. (Divine, 90) Although both settlements started off
relatively the same, the greater success of one over the other has caused continuous debates between
many, including the descendants of these early Americans. Some might argue that the Virginia Colony
was more successful than the Massachusetts Bay Colony because of the Virginia colonists motivation
and interest in profit (Divine, 76). However, when efforts for income ... Show more content on

The Virginia colonists on the other hand, were unable to achieve this sense of community, as a result
of the high mortality rate in the colony. Many complications arose among the people because of this.
For example, since the ratio between men and women was three to one, many spouses, especially
women, often remarried with children after one of the spouses died. These situations created complex
families, and hostility among its members (Divine, 81). However, because of the constant amount of
fatalities in the colonies, immigrants were continuously sent, making them the large majority of the
population (Divine, 84). This made creating a community in the Chesapeake Bay Colony almost
impossible because of the uncertainty the people had about one another. And because this chain of
events continued, the attempt of composing a society became a seemingly hopeless endeavor among
colonists of Virginia.
Within the colony of Massachusetts, religion played an important role in shaping the community s
people and interests. The reason for the Puritans move to North America was to escape the convictions
the Christians of England were placing on them (Divine, 89). Winthrop and his followers believed that
in this new land they must create a place where they could come together as a people and build the
perfect religious society (Divine, 90). In a speech about his vision for the land, John Winthrop said,
We must delight in each

Interpersonal Communication
Interpersonal Communication
Interpersonal communication is defined by Michael Cody as: the exchange of symbols used to achieve
interpersonal goals(28). Does this definition include everything, or does it only include certain
things?. When we are dealing with the issue of interpersonal communication we must realize that
people view it differently. In this paper I will develop my own idea or definition of what interpersonal
communication is. I will then proceed to identify any important assumptions or issues that become
important in the definition that I choose. Finally, I will provide examples of communicative and non
communicative events based on my definition. Interpersonal communication, in my opinion, is the
exchange of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Interpersonal communication must be done when there is a certain amount of people. You cannot have
one person and have interpersonal communication, likewise, you cannot have a hundred people and
have interpersonal communication either. Interpersonal communication must be done when at least
two people are present. In order for the communication to stay effective you cannot have more than
six people. The reason for the limitation is that when too many people get involved it becomes harder
to bring forth the message that you want to send. As I stated earlier if the message is not sent and
shared then interpersonal communication has not taken place. Finally, I would like to discuss some
examples of communicative and non communicative events based on the definition that I have given.
An example of a communicative event that would use my definition would be as follows: When two
people are talking they are speaking to each other in order to change information. For example: When
you walk the street and you see someone you know you speak and you ask how was your day . The
point when you asked how the persons day was you initiated the process of interpersonal
communication.
The person will respond, and the information that the person shares with you completes the process of
interpersonal communication. An example of non verbal communication using my definition is
somewhat more difficult. When you are sitting at restaurant and you a start playing foot tag with

Vigilance Essay Feb 2015

The price of freedom is eternal vigilance. (Quote Desmond Tutu)
Vigilance is defined as the action or state of being alert and watchful. It is concerned both with what is
and what will be. Thus it is important to be Vigilant in the army for many reasons. Not the least of
which being it could keep you and your buddies alive despite the world s best attempts to make you
otherwise. But it means more than just staying awake and alert at guard duty. It means both being
mentally and physically prepared to react to changing conditions and to being aware and cognizant of
the current conditions. There are three important categories to discuss here and expound upon. The

But vigilance is not just a tangible watchfulness or alertness. It can be intangible as well. Vigilance TO
duty means that you are not only vigilant on duty but about your duties. It means that you maintain a
watch on YOURSELF as well as the world and others. That way you do not slip and begin to neglect
your duties. This is just as important as being vigilant on duty. Making sure schedules are made and
kept, responsibilities are divided up properly, records are updated, supplies are ordered and so on ad
nauseam are all things you have to maintain vigilance over every day no matter your duty or post. It is
an attention to detail that you resolve to maintain always. It is the sign of a professional and skilled
person to be vigilant to your duties and on duty.
Be vigilant; guard your mind against negative thoughts. (Quote by Buddha)

Stylistic Analysis of Zombieland Essays
Zombieland is a film where a lot of stylistic choices were made. Especially the opening scene says a
lot about the film and the characters. Mise en scene, cinematography, editing and sound shape the film
s effect on the viewer.
The film begins in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. The first shot is unbalanced to prime our
expectation that something will change position. The shot is of the American flag, which is focused
while the background is unfocused which means it indicates that the flag is of importance. From the
close up of the American flag we get a handheld panning shot of a car crash, this shows us a deeper
meaning: America has fallen. While the actor stands up with his body mounted camera it creates an
illusion of a point of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance Columbus; we see the world mainly through his eyes. Columbus narrates the entire story.
Herewith we built up a relationship with this film character. We feel sympathy for him. Big motifs in
the film are his rules of survival and a parallelism where Columbus is talking about the death (of a
zombie) of the week with Tallahassee. Columbus mentions these things quite a few times in the film.
Sound is also a big part of the film. There is a non diegetic soundtrack used throughout the title
sequence, which is rock music and when the American flag appears, the music changes to the
American anthem, which is slightly lower pitched and distorted. This adds to the whole imagery of the
film. Then you also have Columbus s observations and comments that run throughout the film as well.
Director and editor also used diegetic sound, which is mainly used for the growling of the zombies
when they are attacking people. The sound of the zombies growling is low pitched and the amplitude
of the vibrations is loud.
Another big part of the film is mise en scene. For instance the setting; throughout the film the
filmmakers made use of a lot of local areas like on location settings. Zombieland was filmed in
Atlanta, GA so they used a lot of practical locations like the grocery store and the amusement park in
which a big fight between the living and the undead played out. The settings the director and producer
have chosen are not typical for a horror film

Arms Control (Nuclear Disarmament)
Arms Control (Nuclear Disarmament) Arms control refers to any international limitation or regulation
where developing, testing, producing, deploying, or even using weapons is concerned on the basis that
it is inevitable for some national military establishments to continue existing. This concept points to
some type of collaboration between states that are antagonistic or competitive in general when it
comes to military policy, in a bid to lower the chances of war and in the event of such, to limit its
damage (Jones 4). From a broader perspective, arms control is a product of historical state practices

The passing of Title IX created a monumental shift college and high school athletics. After Title IX

A Fallacy Ontological Argument
1. A fallacy is an argument with some sort of mistaken proponent that makes the argument unsound.
One such fallacy is the genetic fallacy. A genetic fallacy is when a claim is declared false or invalid
not due to the integrity of the argument but from the source, such as a group or business. An example
of a genetic fallacy would be if Dasani put out a claim that their water was the purest and that claim
was discredited not because of their claim being false, but that it came from Dasani themselves.
2. An Ontological argument demonstrates that god exists not by science or proof but by the mere
concept of God itself. An example of an Ontological argument is the idea that God is by definition the
greatest possible being which implies that God must actually exist, because if he did not exist in
reality, he would not be the greatest possible being. A critique of this argument is that it is basically
begging the question, as from the beginning of its claim, it has already decided that it is true and uses
that to back support its own argument. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The problem of free will is the question whether humans truly have free will or not. Some believe in
determinism, which is the belief that everything is already pre determined and is controlled by a

must at least make some choices out of one own desires without constraint or pressure from outside

6. Q: What were the basic underlining structures what are found in each feudal society and what
purpose did these structures serve?
A: The fiefs under feudalism all contained basic structures that were essential in maintaining a fully
sustainable community. Some basic structures include water mills, houses, barns, and workshops, all
self explanatory. The three most important structures were the church, the manor, and a three field
crop rotation complex. The manor was considered the brain of the fief, which provided shelter to the
vassals and his staff, as well as a place for royal celebrations such as feasts. The church as a part of

This was called Feudal Justice , and gave nobles the ability to create court cases to settle disputes
between the defendants and the accused. These courts usually ended with the accused having to pay a
fine, which brought considerable income to the nobles throne, however, ordeal by God and trial by
combat were considered equally as effective in proving innocence. This system of justice brought the
same political power of the feudal system itself, knights could not accuse the king, but peasants could
call other peasants to be accused. Under this system, the daily lives of peasants could be brought into
question, however, both the accused and the accuser would receive the same treatment, and if the
accused was not found guilty, the accuser would receive the punishment. This created a system that
discouraged the use of judicial courts for personal gain, and disallowed the ability to move higher in

(Science.NationalGeographic.com para. 8 n.d). The landmass on Venus is potholed by small craters by

Similarities Between Edwards And John Winthrop
Sinners in the Hands of the Same God
John Edwards and John Winthrop were two Puritan writers who tried to take on the new world, with
only the rudimentary tools of the unfinished society from which they came. While both authors are
renowned for their sermons during this time, Edwards is known for his drastic and dramatic, Sinners
in the Hands of An Angry God , and Winthrop for his vision of society in, A Modell of Christian
Charity . Edwards appeals to all sinners in his sermon, where he warns them that God will be the
judge of their actions, and that their consequences may be severe. While Winthrop on the other hand,
carefully laid out the religious and social principles that would be the Puritan foundation of their
beliefs, stemming from his understanding of the Holy Bible. In Edwards, Sinners in the Hands of An
Angry God and Winthrop s, A Modell of Christian Charity , we see that both writers had similar
beliefs that stemmed from their Puritan background, yet their interpretations of the bible differed in
the way that they expressed these ideologies to the public.
When comparing the two writers, one should note that both Edwards and Winthrop have numerous
traits in common with many of the Puritan writers of this time, as they understood that God was a
deity, promoting people to live honest and moral lives. These two men came from similar walks of
life, as they were both male, highly educated, wealthy, acclimating from desirable religious, and
societal backgrounds,

Comparison Of Gestures In France And America
1. Greetings
When you meet a new person in France, the polite thing to do would be to shake their hand, say hello,
and introduce yourself to everyone in the room if you had just arrived. If you were greeting a close
friend of family member you would then kiss them once on each cheek (3 kisses in South France).
Friends address each other with their first names in an informal manner like many young people do.
Adults tend to be more conservative and formal and tend to be un expressive in front of people they
don t know well. Some inappropriate conversation topics would be anything having to do with: age,
income, occupation, family, asking how much something costs, asking where something was
purchased, talking loudly, chewing gum, and calling attention to oneself.
2. Gestures Body language such as hand gestures and facial expressions is very important while
talking to the French (especially in the South). Exaggerated expressions and movements help convey
the reality of a story or explanation. Gestures in France and America are quite similar. Shrugging your
shoulders means that you don t know or you don t care. Putting up both of your hands with your palms
up illustrates helplessness or anger. And making a circle with your thumb and forefinger stands for
saying that something is okay or even perfect.

The Role Of Enmerkar In Sumerian Literature
Enmerkar is a legendary figure that would have lived at the end of the 4th or beginning of the 3rd
millennium BC (Encyclopedia Britannica). Listed in the Sumerian Kings List, Enmerkar is noted as
being the King of Unug, who built Unug (Uruk) and reigning for 420 years. Vanstiphout points out
that the fact that Enmerkar is the second king in the Sumerian Kings List that came after the time of
the flood and is noted as the one who built Unug are important aspects to the setting of these stories

featured in three other Sumerian texts: Enmerkar and En suhgir anna, Lugalbanda in the Mountain

Microfinance Institutions Sustainability
MFI sustainability: The role of subsidies and grants
Microfinance institutions (MFI) have created intense debates in an industry of traditional banking.
Being primarily focused on mission of poverty reduction through economic stimulation of low income
areas, MFI have sharpened the credit policy to specification of area of interests. The major distinction
is loan interest rate being notably higher in comparison to profit orientated financial institutions
(Rosenberg et al. 2009). The reason roots in excessive cost of funds and administrative loses faced by
growing industry. As noted in Cull et.al (2009), interest paid by borrowers represents the struggle of
MFI to overcome the burden of expenses and achieve financial sustainability. The latter however, can
be reached by altering the capital structure of MFI through diversification of source of funding or
rejection of capital which can lead to malfunction. As soon as the changes are implemented,
institutions can proceed to expansion reaching increasing return to scale and beneficially affecting
sustainability. This essay would focus on the role on subsidies in performance of MFI. The rationale
behind exploring this form of noncommercial capital is that total amount of subsidized capital in MFI
reached almost 16 billion in 2009 (Bloomberg, 2012) posing a question regarding the alternative and
probably more efficient use of respective funds to support poor. The second reason derives from the
number of researches discussed later,

Risk And Return Is The Fundamental Parameters Of Any...
Risk and Return Risk and return are the fundamental parameters of any investment. While some
investments may present greater risk they are countered by a higher rate of return. The vice versa
holds true as well, less risk corresponds to a lower return. One way to measure risk is through
calculating the standard deviation of returns. This measurement tells an investor how volatile or risky
an investment is, by providing the investor with a range of possible outcomes based on the stocks
expected return. Therefore, the lower the standard deviation percentage the less risk a given
investment has. Moreover, when risk is being analyzed for more than one investment in a portfolio, a
correlation of returns measurement is used. This calculation determines whether or not the investments
respond similarly (+1) or conversely to market changes ( 1). The closer the correlation is to 1 the more
diversified the investment is resulting in less risk (Hirt, Block Basu, 2006). Combined, these
measurements provide investors with the tools necessary to analyze an investments risk and determine
the best investment choices.
Comparing Investments Comparing the investments in the chart above, an investor can use the
standard deviation and correlation of returns to determine the given risk of the investments, as well as
which investment choice would yield a better return. With the information provided a portfolio made
up of equal parts B and C will ultimately be less risky than a

Insurance, Liability, And Liability Essay
Insurance and Liability As previously noted, we anticipate that the instances of car accidents will
decrease with the use of HAVs. Nonetheless, car accidents are always a possibility and car accidents
with HAVs pose the unique question, Is the driver liable or is the manufacturer liable? HAVs will
ultimately develop into more autonomously functioning vehicles, operating without much human
assistance. If such an autonomously functioning car were part of a car accident, the manufacturer s
liability would certainly increase. However, the first commercially available HAVs will involve the
vehicle sharing the driving responsibility with the human driver. Establishing liability in this gray area
is a challenge that Maryland will take on. Also, car insurance premiums will likely increase for the
consumer, which is an important consideration because that translates to less disposable income in the
pocket of the driver. Technology One of the primary concerns is ensuring a two tier system
guaranteeing that if one system fails (i.e. the car s autonomous system), there is a warning system to
inform the driver to take control of the vehicle. The safety of the driver has to remain the number one
concern. The intricate technology used on HAVs is what makes their smart driving capabilities work
safely. Frequent software updates will be necessary so that the HAV can acknowledge new roads and
infrastructure.(cite: Anderson) If the HAV owner waits several months after being notified of

Frida Film Analysis Essay
Frida and the Role of Women During the 1930 s and 1940 s, women of the world held virtually one
role and one role only...homemaker. This was no different for the women of Mexico, except for one
woman in particular, Frida Kahlo. Frida refused to accept the current ideals of society and the
accepted social norms by engaging in things that few women in history ever had. Frida was involved
in politics, she was promiscuous with men and women, she painted pictures of herself in ways that had
never been done before, and she wore the clothes of her indigenous people as opposed to the current
fashions of the world. The movie Frida showcases all of these qualities. The director, Julie Taymor,

Frida had an affair with Leon Trotsky while he was living in her home. Trotsky was only one of the
many men and women with whom Frida had an affair with while she was married to Diego Rivera. In
the movie, it is even hinted at that Frida had an affair with Diego s ex wife. During the roaring
twenties and on into the 30 s and 40 s, sexuality and promiscuity were beginning to become more
prevalent in society. This new breed of women was called Flappers (About.com). Even though these
women were viewed as being promiscuous for their time period, some women like Frida, were viewed
as a novelty in society. Frida was far ahead of the times with her sexuality and once again, she did not
care what was thought of her actions and how she was viewed by society. Director Taymor does and
excellent job of portraying Frida as a promiscuous and sexually curious woman in the movie. There
are countless times during the movie where Frida dances with a woman, kisses a woman, lays in a bed
with a woman which was highly frowned upon in society during that time. Frida was a very skilled
painter who did mainly self portraits where she expressed her feelings and portrayed herself in
unconventional ways. Frida would take some of the events of her life and paint them. For example,
Frida painted the auto accident she was in that left her with traumatizing pain, the miscarriages she

The People s Insurance Company Of Canada

Assignment: Midterm Assignment, Management 3990
While the intention was that the People s Insurance Company of Canada (PICC) would have an
organic organizational structure, this intention was at least partially offset by the close integration of
the Insurance company with the parent People s Bank. The result was an entity in which the
superficially organic, generally non hierarchical Insurance organization has been overridden by the
highly hierarchical and mechanistic bank organization. The PICC s actual structure has both
mechanistic and organic aspects. With regard to work specialization, it is generally narrow and
mechanistic with the VP for HR, Mary Thorne, fighting an ongoing battle with the Bank on the
grounds that PICC needed staff with specialized skills in the insurance industry. With respect to chain
of command, while the structure of PICC was intended to be open, non hierarchical and organic, it is
clear that it is generally mechanistic in its most important aspects. For example, while there may be an
open office environment in general, the senior team members have private offices. Similarly, while the
the emphasis of PICC is towards self managing teams, many approvals such as new purchases had to
be signed off by multiple layers of the bank s management. Thus, the chain of command is very rigid
in terms of its senior decision makers. In terms of centralization of decision making, it appears that

At the time, NASA s goal was two reach two launches per month, a goal that well exceeded the budget
and training facilities available [2].
The night before the launch, a teleconference between Thiokol and NASA was held to address the
concerns regarding the performance of the SRB O ring seal in cold weather. Thiokol recommended
that the launch be postponed since there was no data available for temperatures below 53°F [2]. After
internal discussions in the Thiokol group, senior management eventually endorsed the launch,
recommending it to proceed, reversing their original decision [2]. Rockwell, the shuttle s primary

the thermal shield tiles during takeoff. Their concerns were relayed to NASA, but in such a way that
NASA chose to proceed with the launch [2]. Though this was eventually determined to be a non issue

Discuss the Significance of Father Figures in Frankenstein
Discuss the significance of father figures in Frankenstein
Frankenstein is a story of science gone dreadfully amiss. Shelley offers depth and meaning to
Frankenstein by presenting (sometimes covertly so) insinuations of failed father and son relationships
littered throughout the story. The most obvious relationship in this story is that between Victor
Frankenstein and his monster, however, there are other characters in the story that present themselves
as father figures. In this essay, I will endeavour to discuss not only the significance of the familial
relationship between Victor Frankenstein and his creature, but that of Victor and Alphonso
Frankenstein, Henry Clerval and his father amongst others.
As Allen notes, the most obvious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Compassion and obligation urges Victor to sympathise with the creature and even render him happy
like a father should a son; although even so, he makes no attempt to satisfy the monster s needs

Victor can understand the feelings of compassion or fatherly care that stir within him but he is unable
to sustain those feelings of concern: I compassionated him, and sometimes felt a wish to console him;
but when I looked upon him my feelings were altered to those of horror and hatred (p.121). He
continues to fail his creature, swearing him into exile, then creating another like him before destroying
it (and thus any chance of happiness for the creature), and then hunting him down. Victor is never able
to perceive the monster s tormented psyche leading to his exclamation Let the cursed and hellish
monster drink deep of agony; let him feel the despair that now torments me (p.172). The irony is
Victor s creation already feels this, but Victor s anger and lack of insight causes him to oversee it

Consumer Goods Classification
Introduction:
The classification of goods (physical products) is essential to business because it provides a basis for
determining the strategies needed to move them through the marketing system.
The two main forms of classifications are consumer goods and industrial goods.
We are interested in this paper to elaborate more on Consumer Goods Classification only.
Consumer Goods:
Consumer goods are defined as goods that are bought from retail stores for personal, family, or
household use.
Or, they can also be defined as:
Products intended for use or consumption by individuals, as opposed to organizations, companies or
businesses.
Consumer goods are generally divided into subcategories according to the method by which they are

For price based shopping goods, consumers judge product attributes to be similar and look around for
the least expensive item/store. Consumers will exert effort in searching for information, because
shopping goods are bought infrequently. Hyundai Automobile and store brand clothes are marketed as
price based shopping goods.
Because customers are going to shop for these goods, a fundamental strategy in establishing stores
that specialize in them is to locate near similar stores in active shopping areas, in other words,
shopping goods require selective distribution. Ongoing strategies for marketing shopping goods
include the heavy use of advertising in local media, including newspapers, radio, and television.
Advertising for shopping goods is often done cooperatively with the manufacturers of the goods.
Specialty Goods: Specialty goods are items that are unique or unusual at least in the mind of the buyer.
Buyers know exactly what they want and are willing to exert considerable effort to obtain it. These
goods are usually, but not necessarily, of high value, and they may or may not be durable goods. They
differ from shopping goods primarily because price is not the chief consideration. Often the attributes
that make them unique are brand preference (e.g., a certain make of automobile) or personal
preference (e.g., a food dish prepared in a specific way). Other items that fall into this category are
wedding dresses, antiques, fine jewelry, and golf

Notes On The Slave Trade
Atlantic Slave Trade What is the slave trade? Well, I believe that the slave trade is when white people
of the Americas would take black people, and put them on ships, and then bring them over the Atlantic
ocean to the Americas to become slaves. This must have affected a lot of people during the Atlantic
Slave Trade. Well, it did. Most of the slaves received being branded on their shoulder, breast or
buttock. and many experienced getting their names changed so that is was almost impossible for their
family to trace them. I m always wondering, why did the slave trade last so long, and what values
were found during the slave trade. Well, I believe the slave trade lasted so long, because numerous
people died of diseases, which caused a heavy demand for more slaves every year. With the historical
book, Roots, a primary sources, Olaudah Equiano, and a secondary source The Cruelest Commerce I
will give evidence to back up my answers to the three questions, what is the slave trade? How where
humans affected by the slave trade, and why did the slave trade last so long and what values were
found in the slave trade? The slave trade was when captured slaves, or people taken captive in wars,
would be put on ships to be taken over the Atlantic Ocean to the New World or as we know today as
the Americas. Also, Brazil, which is a colony of Portugal, received the largest amount of African
slaves, so that is why their culture has various traits of African culture today. According to

Temporal Processing Paper
Temporal processing relates to the incorporation and integration of diverse acoustic signals over time.
The auditory system works to address the spectral and temporal modulations of speech, identification
of sound location, speech in noise, and other environmental and auditory stimuli. Temporal processing
consists of the ability to sequence, discriminate, integrate, and mask incoming auditory signals (Shinn,
2003). The auditory system recognizes the location and discrimination of sounds through
communication of neurons in the central ascending auditory pathway. Phase locking with varying
frequency cutoffs based on test subjects affects this coding of signal (Paolini, FitzGerald, Burkitt,
Clark, 2001). Neurons must fire fast and precise in order to detect the brief time differences between
stimuli. With the help of potassium channels at both presynaptic and postsynaptic action potential
(AP) locations, these neurons remain constantly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the activation of the Kv3.1 potassium channel, these neurons phase locked precisely to acoustic
stimuli presented up to 2000 to 4000 Hz (Song and Kaczmarek, 2006). Regulation of certain
potassium channels, both increasing and decreasing the influx of potassium, relied on the process of
sound activated phosphorylation and sound activated dephosphorylation after the onset of loud noises
(Steinert et al., 2008). Stimulation of Kv3.1a and Kv3.1b channels expressed in the globular bushy
cells of the AVCN and principle neurons of MNTB strongly depended on the process of
phosphorylation and dephosphorylation. Research focused on the process of activation with the
Kv3.1b channel in adult cells, as the shorter Kv3.1a expressed greater quantities in embryonic cells
(Kaczmarek et al., 2005). Through this process, the influx of potassium affected the activation of
neurons in the ascending auditory

The oxides of nitrogen form naturally when lightning strikes cause nitrogen and oxygen in the air to
combine. Thus the nitrogen oxides become oxidised to nitric acid, nitrates and nitrites.
N2 + O2[IMAGE] 2NO
Nitrogen monoxide or nitrogen oxide can also be formed (industrially) in internal combustion engines
or high temperature combustion reactions in furnaces:
N2 + O2[IMAGE] 2NO
This nitrogen monoxide gas can further react with oxygen in the air to form brown acidic nitrogen

Nitrogen oxides are soluble in water and have known contributions to pollutants (PAN) in
photochemical smog as well as its detrimental effects to animal respiratory systems. There are a

  • 3. Writing Instruments That Evolved Into A Process Dturing English 122, I adapted several writing instruments that evolved into a process, in turn, I used this to compose my first and final drafts of my narrative and persuasive essays. Originating the term, I had a fear and deep resentment for writing; however, in week three, I finally attained a point where I began to enjoy the writing process. When I look back over the last eight weeks, I use three things that improved my writing, specifically, a process style chart, transitional phrases, and the proper way of revising my assignment for this course that improved my writing and will benefit future classes. First, process style chart (MindEdge 5.01), profoundly improved the speed, organization, and quality of my composition. I merely transferred the process of module five, Refining the Order of Your Ideas (#2 MindEdge 5.01), to index cards; thus, allowing reorganization or removal of topics, subtopics, and details by simply moving an index card. Exerted from My Experiences With Writing , Then, I noticed that at the end she commented on what I did well, In turn, making the mistakes seem like something I should just work on. SNHU 107 has helped me shed that unpleasant experience and write slightly better papers with a more focused and consistent Batson 2 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Causes Of Childhood Obesity Causes of Childhood Obesity Imagine yourself walking into a kindergarten class, and all you see are obese children not walking, but moving on wheels because they simply cannot walk anymore due to their excess body weight. Their legs are so weak since they have to handle so much more weight than what they are designed to do. This vision may no longer be fictional if the world keeps ignoring the issue of childhood obesity. Nowadays, not only adults, but the number of children who are obese are incredibly high. The topic has to be taken more seriously because it is not only bad for their health obviously but it is also abusive. Youngsters with obesity will tend to stay obese when they grow up and we can all agree that it is not so pleasant to be in such circumstances. These children are our worthiest fortune and the world s future generation. When the time comes, their quality of life and level of happiness will accurately reflect how we raise them and how much caring and love do we have toward them. Every issue has its own roots of problems and we have to identify those before heading to find solutions. Definitions: According to researches over decades, overweight or obese are usually used to describe the condition of having too much excess body fat. The most common way to measure if someone is overweight is based on their BMI. Someone with a BMI over 30 will be considered as obese. Public Health Policy And The Care Crisis Public health policy is associated with the need to imposition public health professionals to consider leading gaps in the future of health care crisis. The purpose is to protect the underserved and underinsured population by the need to propose public health policy to safeguard individual s health (Laureate Education, 2012). A public health professional has an obligation to influence the health status through evidence based policymaking needed to intervene for policy makers. Given financial constraint to reduce health disparities financial preparation and disseminative communication are the essential tools needed to make supplement legislative policy (Brownson, Chriqui, Stamatakis, 2009; Laureate Education, 2012). • 6. Analysis Of The Poem Eve Of Her Daughters And ... The two poems I have chosen to analyze are Judith Wright s Eve to Her Daughters (992) and Robert Browning s Porphyria s Lover (642) and what they have in relation to one another. I will be examining the dramatic monologue form that takes place in both poems and how it could present the image and possibility for coercion. I will discuss how, with the utilization of dramatic monologue, we as the audience, experience the speaker s world with a glimpse into their personal perspectives alongside with their mentalities. Furthermore, I will highlight the similarities and differences between the poems, how both poems interact with one another, and what we can comprehend with both poems that would not be possible if viewed separately. In regards to Judith Wright s Eve to Her Daughters (992) this poem is coming from a coercion place of female oppression. Whereas, Robert Browning s Porphyria s Lover (642) coercion place comes from one of compulsion to enforce his will upon his lover Porphyria. In Eve to Her Daughters the speaker is Eve and we, as the audience, are her daughters listening to her story and guidance. • 7. Essay about The Success of the Massachusetts Bay Colony In the 1600 s, two colonies were establishing themselves on the east coast of North America. In 1607, a group of merchants, known as the Virginia Company, settled at Jamestown, Virginia on the Chesapeake Bay (Divine, 72); while Puritan leader John Winthrop, stationed himself and his followers at Massachusetts Bay in 1630. (Divine, 90) Although both settlements started off relatively the same, the greater success of one over the other has caused continuous debates between many, including the descendants of these early Americans. Some might argue that the Virginia Colony was more successful than the Massachusetts Bay Colony because of the Virginia colonists motivation and interest in profit (Divine, 76). However, when efforts for income ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Virginia colonists on the other hand, were unable to achieve this sense of community, as a result of the high mortality rate in the colony. Many complications arose among the people because of this. For example, since the ratio between men and women was three to one, many spouses, especially women, often remarried with children after one of the spouses died. These situations created complex families, and hostility among its members (Divine, 81). However, because of the constant amount of fatalities in the colonies, immigrants were continuously sent, making them the large majority of the population (Divine, 84). This made creating a community in the Chesapeake Bay Colony almost impossible because of the uncertainty the people had about one another. And because this chain of events continued, the attempt of composing a society became a seemingly hopeless endeavor among colonists of Virginia. Within the colony of Massachusetts, religion played an important role in shaping the community s people and interests. The reason for the Puritans move to North America was to escape the convictions the Christians of England were placing on them (Divine, 89). Winthrop and his followers believed that in this new land they must create a place where they could come together as a people and build the perfect religious society (Divine, 90). Does this definition include everything, or does it only include certain things?. When we are dealing with the issue of interpersonal communication we must realize that people view it differently. In this paper I will develop my own idea or definition of what interpersonal communication is. You cannot have one person and have interpersonal communication, likewise, you cannot have a hundred people and have interpersonal communication either. Interpersonal communication must be done when at least two people are present. In order for the communication to stay effective you cannot have more than six people. The reason for the limitation is that when too many people get involved it becomes harder to bring forth the message that you want to send. As I stated earlier if the message is not sent and shared then interpersonal communication has not taken place. Finally, I would like to discuss some examples of communicative and non communicative events based on the definition that I have given. An example of a communicative event that would use my definition would be as follows: When two people are talking they are speaking to each other in order to change information. For example: When you walk the street and you see someone you know you speak and you ask how was your day . The point when you asked how the persons day was you initiated the process of interpersonal communication. The person will respond, and the information that the person shares with you completes the process of interpersonal communication. (Quote Desmond Tutu) Vigilance is defined as the action or state of being alert and watchful. It is concerned both with what is and what will be. Thus it is important to be Vigilant in the army for many reasons. Not the least of which being it could keep you and your buddies alive despite the world s best attempts to make you otherwise. Mise en scene, cinematography, editing and sound shape the film s effect on the viewer. The film begins in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. The first shot is unbalanced to prime our expectation that something will change position. The shot is of the American flag, which is focused while the background is unfocused which means it indicates that the flag is of importance. Big motifs in the film are his rules of survival and a parallelism where Columbus is talking about the death (of a zombie) of the week with Tallahassee. Columbus mentions these things quite a few times in the film. Sound is also a big part of the film. There is a non diegetic soundtrack used throughout the title sequence, which is rock music and when the American flag appears, the music changes to the American anthem, which is slightly lower pitched and distorted. This adds to the whole imagery of the film. Then you also have Columbus s observations and comments that run throughout the film as well. Director and editor also used diegetic sound, which is mainly used for the growling of the zombies when they are attacking people. The sound of the zombies growling is low pitched and the amplitude of the vibrations is loud. Another big part of the film is mise en scene. For instance the setting; throughout the film the filmmakers made use of a lot of local areas like on location settings. • 15. A Fallacy Ontological Argument 1. A fallacy is an argument with some sort of mistaken proponent that makes the argument unsound. One such fallacy is the genetic fallacy. A genetic fallacy is when a claim is declared false or invalid not due to the integrity of the argument but from the source, such as a group or business. An example of a genetic fallacy would be if Dasani put out a claim that their water was the purest and that claim was discredited not because of their claim being false, but that it came from Dasani themselves. 2. An Ontological argument demonstrates that god exists not by science or proof but by the mere concept of God itself. An example of an Ontological argument is the idea that God is by definition the greatest possible being which implies that God must actually exist, because if he did not exist in reality, he would not be the greatest possible being. A critique of this argument is that it is basically begging the question, as from the beginning of its claim, it has already decided that it is true and uses that to back support its own argument. ... Similarities Between Edwards And John Winthrop Sinners in the Hands of the Same God John Edwards and John Winthrop were two Puritan writers who tried to take on the new world, with only the rudimentary tools of the unfinished society from which they came. Edwards appeals to all sinners in his sermon, where he warns them that God will be the judge of their actions, and that their consequences may be severe. Microfinance Institutions Sustainability MFI sustainability: The role of subsidies and grants Microfinance institutions (MFI) have created intense debates in an industry of traditional banking. Being primarily focused on mission of poverty reduction through economic stimulation of low income areas, MFI have sharpened the credit policy to specification of area of interests. The major distinction is loan interest rate being notably higher in comparison to profit orientated financial institutions (Rosenberg et al. 2009). The reason roots in excessive cost of funds and administrative loses faced by growing industry. As noted in Cull et.al (2009), interest paid by borrowers represents the struggle of MFI to overcome the burden of expenses and achieve financial sustainability. The latter however, can be reached by altering the capital structure of MFI through diversification of source of funding or rejection of capital which can lead to malfunction. As soon as the changes are implemented, institutions can proceed to expansion reaching increasing return to scale and beneficially affecting sustainability. • 24. Risk And Return Is The Fundamental Parameters Of Any... Risk and Return Risk and return are the fundamental parameters of any investment. While some investments may present greater risk they are countered by a higher rate of return. The vice versa holds true as well, less risk corresponds to a lower return. One way to measure risk is through calculating the standard deviation of returns. This measurement tells an investor how volatile or risky an investment is, by providing the investor with a range of possible outcomes based on the stocks expected return. Therefore, the lower the standard deviation percentage the less risk a given investment has. Moreover, when risk is being analyzed for more than one investment in a portfolio, a correlation of returns measurement is used. This calculation determines whether or not the investments respond similarly (+1) or conversely to market changes ( 1). The closer the correlation is to 1 the more diversified the investment is resulting in less risk (Hirt, Block Basu, 2006). Combined, these measurements provide investors with the tools necessary to analyze an investments risk and determine the best investment choices. Comparing Investments Comparing the investments in the chart above, an investor can use the standard deviation and correlation of returns to determine the given risk of the investments, as well as which investment choice would yield a better return. • 26. Insurance, Liability, And Liability Essay Insurance and Liability As previously noted, we anticipate that the instances of car accidents will decrease with the use of HAVs. Nonetheless, car accidents are always a possibility and car accidents with HAVs pose the unique question, Is the driver liable or is the manufacturer liable? HAVs will ultimately develop into more autonomously functioning vehicles, operating without much human assistance. If such an autonomously functioning car were part of a car accident, the manufacturer s liability would certainly increase. However, the first commercially available HAVs will involve the vehicle sharing the driving responsibility with the human driver. Establishing liability in this gray area is a challenge that Maryland will take on. Also, car insurance premiums will likely increase for the consumer, which is an important consideration because that translates to less disposable income in the pocket of the driver. Technology One of the primary concerns is ensuring a two tier system guaranteeing that if one system fails (i.e. the car s autonomous system), there is a warning system to inform the driver to take control of the vehicle. The safety of the driver has to remain the number one concern. The intricate technology used on HAVs is what makes their smart driving capabilities work safely. • 30. Frida Film Analysis Essay Frida and the Role of Women During the 1930 s and 1940 s, women of the world held virtually one role and one role only...homemaker. This was no different for the women of Mexico, except for one woman in particular, Frida Kahlo. Frida refused to accept the current ideals of society and the accepted social norms by engaging in things that few women in history ever had. Frida was involved in politics, she was promiscuous with men and women, she painted pictures of herself in ways that had never been done before, and she wore the clothes of her indigenous people as opposed to the current fashions of the world. The movie Frida showcases all of these qualities. The director, Julie Taymor, uses the symbolism of these things to show how Frida ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Frida had an affair with Leon Trotsky while he was living in her home. Trotsky was only one of the many men and women with whom Frida had an affair with while she was married to Diego Rivera. In the movie, it is even hinted at that Frida had an affair with Diego s ex wife. During the roaring twenties and on into the 30 s and 40 s, sexuality and promiscuity were beginning to become more prevalent in society. This new breed of women was called Flappers (About.com). Even though these women were viewed as being promiscuous for their time period, some women like Frida, were viewed as a novelty in society. Frida was far ahead of the times with her sexuality and once again, she did not care what was thought of her actions and how she was viewed by society. Director Taymor does and excellent job of portraying Frida as a promiscuous and sexually curious woman in the movie. There are countless times during the movie where Frida dances with a woman, kisses a woman, lays in a bed with a woman which was highly frowned upon in society during that time. Frida was a very skilled painter who did mainly self portraits where she expressed her feelings and portrayed herself in unconventional ways. Frida would take some of the events of her life and paint them. For example, Frida painted the auto accident she was in that left her with traumatizing pain, the miscarriages she suffered as a result of the accident, the heartbreak she ... • 31. The People s Insurance Company Of Canada Name : Dolphine Bisase Id : 213349311 Assignment: Midterm Assignment, Management 3990 While the intention was that the People s Insurance Company of Canada (PICC) would have an organic organizational structure, this intention was at least partially offset by the close integration of the Insurance company with the parent People s Bank. The result was an entity in which the superficially organic, generally non hierarchical Insurance organization has been overridden by the highly hierarchical and mechanistic bank organization. The PICC s actual structure has both mechanistic and organic aspects. With regard to work specialization, it is generally narrow and mechanistic with the VP for HR, Mary Thorne, fighting an ongoing battle with the Bank on the grounds that PICC needed staff with specialized skills in the insurance industry. With respect to chain of command, while the structure of PICC was intended to be open, non hierarchical and organic, it is clear that it is generally mechanistic in its most important aspects. For example, while there may be an open office environment in general, the senior team members have private offices. Similarly, while the the emphasis of PICC is towards self managing teams, many approvals such as new purchases had to be signed off by multiple layers of the bank s management. Thus, the chain of command is very rigid in terms of its senior decision makers. In terms of centralization of decision making, it appears that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The night before the launch, a teleconference between Thiokol and NASA was held to address the concerns regarding the performance of the SRB O ring seal in cold weather. Thiokol recommended that the launch be postponed since there was no data available for temperatures below 53°F [2]. After internal discussions in the Thiokol group, senior management eventually endorsed the launch, recommending it to proceed, reversing their original decision [2]. Rockwell, the shuttle s primary contractor, did not support the launch due to the possibility of ice leaving the structure and damaging the thermal shield tiles during takeoff. Their concerns were relayed to NASA, but in such a way that NASA chose to proceed with the launch [2]. Though this was eventually determined to be a non issue in the Challenger launch, the true nature of the problems that can occur when an object strikes the shuttle during takeoff would not be learned until 2003, when the space shuttle Columbia disintegrated on re entry due to damage of a heat shield tile that occurred during takeoff [2] [3]. Shelley offers depth and meaning to Frankenstein by presenting (sometimes covertly so) insinuations of failed father and son relationships littered throughout the story. The most obvious relationship in this story is that between Victor Frankenstein and his monster, however, there are other characters in the story that present themselves as father figures. In this essay, I will endeavour to discuss not only the significance of the familial relationship between Victor Frankenstein and his creature, but that of Victor and Alphonso Frankenstein, Henry Clerval and his father amongst others. As Allen notes, the most obvious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Victor can understand the feelings of compassion or fatherly care that stir within him but he is unable to sustain those feelings of concern: I compassionated him, and sometimes felt a wish to console him; but when I looked upon him my feelings were altered to those of horror and hatred (p.121). He continues to fail his creature, swearing him into exile, then creating another like him before destroying it (and thus any chance of happiness for the creature), and then hunting him down. Victor is never able to perceive the monster s tormented psyche leading to his exclamation Let the cursed and hellish monster drink deep of agony; let him feel the despair that now torments me (p.172). The irony is Victor s creation already feels this, but Victor s anger and lack of insight causes him to oversee it (Claridge, Parent Child Tensions in Frankenstein: The Search for Communion, p.20). Consumer Goods Classification Introduction: The classification of goods (physical products) is essential to business because it provides a basis for determining the strategies needed to move them through the marketing system. The two main forms of classifications are consumer goods and industrial goods. We are interested in this paper to elaborate more on Consumer Goods Classification only. Consumer Goods: Consumer goods are defined as goods that are bought from retail stores for personal, family, or household use. Or, they can also be defined as: Products intended for use or consumption by individuals, as opposed to organizations, companies or businesses. Consumer goods are generally divided into subcategories according to the method by which they are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For price based shopping goods, consumers judge product attributes to be similar and look around for the least expensive item/store. Consumers will exert effort in searching for information, because shopping goods are bought infrequently. Hyundai Automobile and store brand clothes are marketed as price based shopping goods. Because customers are going to shop for these goods, a fundamental strategy in establishing stores that specialize in them is to locate near similar stores in active shopping areas, in other words, shopping goods require selective distribution. Ongoing strategies for marketing shopping goods include the heavy use of advertising in local media, including newspapers, radio, and television. Advertising for shopping goods is often done cooperatively with the manufacturers of the goods. Specialty Goods: Specialty goods are items that are unique or unusual at least in the mind of the buyer. Buyers know exactly what they want and are willing to exert considerable effort to obtain it. These goods are usually, but not necessarily, of high value, and they may or may not be durable goods. They differ from shopping goods primarily because price is not the chief consideration. Often the attributes that make them unique are brand preference (e.g., a certain make of automobile) or personal preference (e.g., a food dish prepared in a specific way). Other items that fall into this category are wedding dresses, antiques, fine jewelry, and golf ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Notes On The Slave Trade Atlantic Slave Trade What is the slave trade? Well, I believe that the slave trade is when white people of the Americas would take black people, and put them on ships, and then bring them over the Atlantic ocean to the Americas to become slaves. This must have affected a lot of people during the Atlantic Slave Trade. Well, it did. Most of the slaves received being branded on their shoulder, breast or buttock. and many experienced getting their names changed so that is was almost impossible for their family to trace them. I m always wondering, why did the slave trade last so long, and what values were found during the slave trade. Well, I believe the slave trade lasted so long, because numerous people died of diseases, which caused a heavy demand for more slaves every year. With the historical book, Roots, a primary sources, Olaudah Equiano, and a secondary source The Cruelest Commerce I will give evidence to back up my answers to the three questions, what is the slave trade? How where humans affected by the slave trade, and why did the slave trade last so long and what values were found in the slave trade? The slave trade was when captured slaves, or people taken captive in wars, would be put on ships to be taken over the Atlantic Ocean to the New World or as we know today as the Americas. Also, Brazil, which is a colony of Portugal, received the largest amount of African slaves, so that is why their culture has various traits of African culture today. According to ... • 41. Temporal Processing Paper Temporal processing relates to the incorporation and integration of diverse acoustic signals over time. The auditory system works to address the spectral and temporal modulations of speech, identification of sound location, speech in noise, and other environmental and auditory stimuli. Temporal processing consists of the ability to sequence, discriminate, integrate, and mask incoming auditory signals (Shinn, 2003). The auditory system recognizes the location and discrimination of sounds through communication of neurons in the central ascending auditory pathway. Phase locking with varying frequency cutoffs based on test subjects affects this coding of signal (Paolini, FitzGerald, Burkitt, Clark, 2001). Neurons must fire fast and precise in order to detect the brief time differences between stimuli. Stimulation of Kv3.1a and Kv3.1b channels expressed in the globular bushy cells of the AVCN and principle neurons of MNTB strongly depended on the process of phosphorylation and dephosphorylation. Research focused on the process of activation with the Kv3.1b channel in adult cells, as the shorter Kv3.1a expressed greater quantities in embryonic cells (Kaczmarek et al., 2005).
