Bacterial Conjunctivitis Essay
Bacterial Conjunctivitis
Bacterial Conjunctivitis, commonly known as pink eye , is one of the most well known and treatable
eye infections for both children and adults. The name was chosen because it is an inflammation of the
conjunctiva. The conjunctiva is the clear membrane that covers the white part of the eye and lines the
inner surface of the eyelids. It is commonly called pink eye because of the red color of the eye from
irritation and was described as such.
Several different microorganisms cause Bacterial Conjunctivitis, the most common being
Haemophilus aegyptius, the Koch week bacillus. This type of bacterium is gram negative and rod
shaped. Haemophilus means blood ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both eyes are usually infected although is often starts in just one eye and the eyes are itchy and
painful. Bacterial conjunctivitis causes an increase one s sensitivity and also cause pain when exposed
to light. When vision in bright light is impaired it is referred to as photophobia. Ear infections often
accompany Bacterial Conjunctivitis.
Bacterial Conjunctivitis has a relatively short incubation period. Most cases are cured in 3 5 daysand
there is rarely any permanent damage. The disease is treated with antibiotics that typically contain
Sulamyd and administered as eye drops or an ointment for 7 10 days. Oral antibiotics can be given for
certain types of bacteria. It is important, however, to continue medication as instructed by the
physician, even after the symptoms have cleared. If antibiotics are not taken, the disease will run its
course in fourteen days and a wet washcloth over the eyelids may help relive some discomfort. An
over the counter Saline Solution, artificial tears , can be used to relive itching and burning, but
precautions should be taken so that the bottle never touches the infected eye. Sunglasses can be worn
relieve pain from the bright light.
It should be noted that Bacterial Conjunctivitis is extremely contagious, especially in places with

Achieving Inclusion In Education
Inclusion is the provision of strategies and resources to ensure all children are given the opportunity to
reach their full potential irrespective of ethnicity, religious belief, gender, sexual orientation or
disability (Dean, 2006; Department for Education (DfE), 2013). To attain inclusion, individuals must
be enabled to fully participate in mainstream activities and to be valued and accepted within the
school community (Coyle, 2011). However, Barnard, Prior, and Potter (2000) acknowledge that the
process of inclusive education can prove challenging (Coyle, 2011; Simpson and De Boer, 2009;
Humphrey, 2008).
Under the 1944 Education Act, children with special educational needs were arranged according to
their medical condition (House of Commons, 2006). Many children were considered to be uneducable
in mainstream settings and were considered to be mentally retarded , maladjusted or sub normal
(House of Commons, 2006). Pupils with SEN were often sent to special schools and taught practical
skills as an alternative to standard education (Bateman, Lloyd and Tankersley, 2015). The Warnock
Report in 1978, followed by the 1981 Education Act, introduced the idea of special educational needs
(SEN), statements, and an inclusive approach to education (House of Commons, 2006). ... Show more

ranges in severity (Flynn, 2010; Wolff, 2004; Humphrey, 2008; Wing, 1993; NHS choices, 2015; The
National Autistic Society, no date). The term Autism was first coined by Bleuler approximately a
century ago when he then linked autism to schizophrenia (Crespi, 2010; Feinstein, 2010). However,
research undertaken by Kanner (1943) and Asperger disputed this suggestion and provided a
clarification of the condition (Frith, 1991; Humphrey,

Muscular Contributions And Hip And Knee Extension During...
The article Muscular contributions to hip and knee extension during the single limb stance phase of
normal gait: a Theoretical Framework for Crouch Gait by Allison Arnold, Frank Anderson, Marcus
Pandy, and Scott Delp investigates the biomechanics of normal gait in hopes to uncover ideas to help
determine treatments for crouch gait. Crouch gait is a bothersome abnormality that affects the gait
pattern of people who suffer from the condition of cerebral palsy. It s characterized by excessive
flexion of the hips and knees during standing and excessive use of metabolic energy to complete a
single gait cycle. Currently, the treatments for this condition are limited and have unpredictable
outcomes due to the unknown biomechanical causes of the excessive flexion in crouch gait. These
treatments include surgical lengthening of hamstrings, ankle foot orthoses, and intense stretching
regimens, with patients experiencing results ranging from no improvement in their symptoms to
dramatic improvements. The vast array of results from treatments are due to the little understanding
medical professionals have of not only abnormal gait patterns (such as crouch gait) but of normal gait
as well (Arnold, Anderson, Pandy, and Delp, 2005). Despite the article s title relating to crouch gait,
the purpose of the study conducted was to examine and quantify the accelerations of normal hip and
knee movements that were induced by specific muscles during the single limb stance phase and to
rank these

Dionysian Influence In Gwen Stefani s Rich Girl
I chose to analyze Rich Girl performed by Gwen Stefani. She is one of my favorite singer. Her
rebellion temper and colorful style is capturing along with her outstanding voice. Stefani was born
(1969) in Fullerton, California and begun her musical carrier at age 17 (Billboard,.2017). I would
consider Stefani a performer with Dionysian influence. Her music has always been passionate and
reflecting her life experiences and views on current issues. Stefani s life could be described as a
rollocoster, ups and downs that provide plenty of inspiration for her music. The song Rich Girl from
the Love. Angel. Music. Baby. Music album, performed by Gwen Stefani was released in 2004. The
song was based on the If I Was a Rich Man from the musical,

Australian Living Conditions
The living conditions and the treatment of Australian Prisoners of War by the Japanese during World
War II were horrific. The Japanese soldiers treated the Australian soldiers in such an inhumane way
which resulted in the loss of many Australian lives. The living conditions included bed bugs, scare
food and water. The Japanese believed the Australian soldiers were dishonourable and believed they
deserved to be punished, this is the main cause of the prisoners mistreatment of prisoners. As a result
many prisoners obtained illnesses and poor health. The Aftermath heavily influenced Australian

The military sent fresh food and clean clothes into camps until the prisoners were able to come home.
It took one to two months for the boats to arrive at camps to take prisoners home; the stronger
prisoners were taken by plane whilst the weaker were brought by boat. Prisoners soon became VIPs as
all prisoners were rescued before other soldiers. The exact number of prisoners is unknown as the
Japanese did not keep records, or destroyed all of which they had; although it is estimated that one
third of prisoners died in Japanese camps this is seven times higher than the death rate of Australian
Prisoners of War in German camps. When soldiers were informed about their homecoming they were
relieved and elated. We were going home, and it was just really terrific. We were absolutely elated.

Bourdieu Habitus Research Paper
Habitus is connected with the social structure, it is firmly established by habits, skills, and disposition
that we acquire through our experiences in life. Habitus has a pattern of thought, behavior and action
that we used to do in our everyday lives, and it s also connected from social structures to action that
people makes choices. Because of habitus, our action is the result of our free will, what we always do
in our everyday lives, and the outcome of the action is unconsciously done. Habitus tend to focus on
society or socialize rather than individual, it allows us to enhance our practices in everyday lives or
our habits, such as arts, foods and clothes. Individuals everyday practices displays the relationship
with the society. It study the social class is linked to the cultural patterns and choices that are made by
the individuals. Habitus focuses on both micro and macro issues of the society, it also transforms the
social and economic necessity into a virtue to the people. According to Bourdieu, society spits up to

10 Things I Hate About You Analysis
Who would have guessed that a movie I watched over the summer of 2010 particularly the 1999 teen
romantic comedy 10 Things I Hate About You would forever alter my perspective on creative writing
and songwriting? Even though the movie s characters were high school students and I was entering
seventh grade at the time, their varied personalities seemed incredibly relatable to me. And as the
months would pass, the idea of putting my thoughts about a short story based on the film on notebook
paper rarely entered my mind. It all started when my grandmother, brother, cousin, and I were all
invited by a religious organization to travel with other churchgoers to Allensworth, California.
Formerly the first town founded by African Americans, it was now a historic park in the state s Central
Valley area. My mother truly desired for my brother and I to go, as we would learn more about the
history of our ethnicity. To keep from being bored, I brought a black ... Show more content on

who are told by their father that the only way they would be allowed to date was if they
simultaneously had boyfriends. The younger sister s boyfriend was a new student and a geek, and the
older sister s boyfriend was a troublemaker, just like the film. But there were a few big differences:
while both sisters in the movie were both in high school, in my story, the younger sister was a high
school freshman and the older sister was a young adult. My story took place in the Cincinnati area, but
the film did not. And many of the characters in my story, including the sisters, and their prospective
boyfriends, were of my race; the film had mostly white

The Empty Corridor As A Tall Slender Woman
Planes Footsteps echoed down the empty corridor as a tall, slender woman made her way towards a
certain room. Though having walked down here many times, the eerie, cold feeling of the building
sent visible shivers down her spine. The alabaster walls had a tinge of grey and it seemed that no
matter how many people were present, this could not hold even the slightest touch of warmth. She
stopped short in front of the familiar wooden door. Raising a hand, she rapped gently three times
before unlocking the door and pushing it open. The room was dark, saved for the soft glow of the
moonlight that flooded in. The woman looked around the spacious room before her attention finally
landed on the lonesome figure in a corner. It was a boy no more than six years old. His blonde hair
was slightly dishevelled and covered his eyes. His eyes they were different from the usual kids his
age. Rather than holding a cheerful and mischievous glint in them, they were glassy and hallow. He
stared unblinkingly at the woman at the doorway and though she did not outwardly show it, it
unsettled her. She could feel the hairs at the back of her neck stand on end and a cold sweat starting to
form but she swallowed and forced a smile as best as she could. Jerome, she called gently, it s bed
time. The little boy turned, eyes focusing on what he was doing prior to the woman entering. His eyes
small fingers gripped tightly onto the model plane he was playing with, but obediently, he stood and

asymptomatic of the signs and symptoms that appear later in the disease curse in women than in men.

`` For The Love Of Culture `` By Lawrence Lessig
Copyright Laws Need an Update Since the beginning, copyrights have existed to protect people from
theft of content, thus inspiring more creativity from the public. The interpretation of these laws has
been twisted by large corporations to serve as a legal means to restrict content for public use and to
gain from profitable licensing. It is essential that copyrighted materials are available to everyone for
our culture to grow. With the copyright laws so perplexing and different depending on the context,
individuals may not understand they are committing a crime by using information and be subjected to
lawsuits, despite good intentions. Lawrence Lessig s three proposals for copyright changes are key
concepts facing issues like this. It is crucial we pay attention because our cultural future is in jeopardy.
In Lawrence Lessig s article For the Love of Culture , he explains his concern that our copyright laws
are hampering our opportunity to learn about our past. Lessig gives us a good example in the
beginning about a daughter of a late great American documentary. She felt it was important to re
master her father s collections and make them available on DVD. Lessig describes the challenges she
faced clearing permissions because of the copyright laws. He also explains how copyright laws are
different when trying to access documentary films versus books. Lessig continues, explaining that
Google scanned eighteen million books to have them accessible to the public.

Racial Discrimination In Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
In the story Of Mice and Men, symbolizes many things such as racial discrimination. Crooks has a
hard time fitting in with the crowd because of his race. And having hopes and dreams nearly crushed
by reality. He might represent the racial equality in the past where the President didn t have a speech
about treating others with respect. Because he wanted to describe the inequality of races while keeping
the subtlety. As said by Crooks, I can t play cards because I m black, (Steinbeck 68). That might be the
reason why he s extremely lonely amongst the rest. Crooks has tried so much to make friends with
people, He lost all of his trust. He s gotten his name from his severed spine being kicked or getting hit
on numerous times while caring for the stables as a slave. Curley on the other hand is a egotistical one
of a kind who likes to pick on people he thinks are weak compared to his strengths. I wouldn t pick a
fight with him, Because it s going to get hot! Although he s the son of the ranch boss, That doesn t
change anything at all. The author s syntax is a unique way of writing because it gives off a pioneer
and cowboy ish feel to the story with it s complex grouping of words. It is effective towards the
characters and/or the reader because of how hard it is to speak in a certain way without messing it up.

The Confederate Flag
The Confederate Flag
Within the United States of America, arguments, involving the Confederate Flag, are solved every
sngle day. However, some controversies have managed to carry on from the 1800 s until present day
without any solution. The text and symbolic meaning behind the Confederate Flag is a perfect
example. The Confederate Flag is one of America s most embattled symbolic controversies. Created in
1861in a battle between the South, Confederates, and the North, Union, two men by the name P.G.T.
Beauregard and Congressman William P. Miles designed and created a flag that would represent the
true southern pride and demands that would not only bring about conflict with one half of the nation

So why get rid of this flag? Being a nation that prohibits slavery in written law, some Americans who
continue to believe the false rumor that the flag represents slavery and racism or are less educated with
the history behind the flag and want to get rid of it. Our society has represented the Confederate flag
in a disrespectful manner and needs to change that.
Hear the Northern thunders mutter! Northern flags in South s winds flutter! To Arms, To Arms, To
Arms in Dixie! Send them back your fierce defiance! Stamp upon the cursed alliance! To Arms, To
Arms, To Arms in Dixie! Advance the flag of Dixie! Hurrah! Hurrah! For Dixie s land we take our

it, yet others view it with pure disgust. Once again, the Confederate or Rebel Flag has been shoved
onto the table of debate due to the raising of the flag in front of the South Carolina State House. So
much debate has arose that President Obama was questioned where this flag should be placed?
President Obama replied with a very considerate answer. His answer was, In a museum. But why
would he want to take down the flag and retire it? Many have applauded him upon the issue, yet
others are left confused as to why? Many people fly the Confederate Flag with pride and none of

Abstract: the open nature of the wireless medium leaves it vulnerable to drive or wedge packets
forcibly into a tight position referred as squeeze. This intentional interference with wireless
transmissions can be used as a launch pad for mounting Denial of Service attacks on wireless
networks typically; squeeze has been addressed under an external threat model. However, person with
depth knowledge of internet protocol specifications and network secrets can launch low effort squeeze
attacks that are difficult to detect and counter. In these attacks, the adversary is active only for a short
period of time, selectively targeting messages of high importance. We illustrate the advantages of
selective squeeze in terms of network performance degradation and adversary effort by presenting two
case studies; a selective attack on TCP and one on routing. In this work, we address the problem of
selective squeeze attacks in wireless networks. We show that selective squeeze attacks can be
launched by performing real time packet classification at the physical layer. To reduce these attacks,
we develop three schemes that prevent real time packet classification by combining cryptographic
primitives with physical layer attributes. We

The Covenant Of A Covenant
Covenant is a very important idea in both the Old and New Testament. Important covenants revealed
through both Testaments are the Sinai covenant and the crucifixion of Jesus, the new covenant. A
covenant includes five fundamental features which help strengthen the notion that a covenant is an
eternal promise with God, not a relationship that can be broken resulting in legal repercussions.
Firstly, the origin of a covenant will be discussed. Secondly, this paper will shed light on the traits of a
covenant. Lastly, this paper will explain how a covenant differs from a contract. Firstly, the theme of a
covenant originates in both Judaism and Christianity. The major covenant in Judaism is the Sinai
covenant which Yahweh gave to Moses and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The idea of a covenant also originates in the Christian faith, where Jesus is seen as the new covenant
in the New Testament. According to Britannica, [t]he cup of wine at the last supper of Jesus and his
disciples is identified in all New Testament sources as the (new) covenant by Jesus himself ( par27).
The oath taker and the sacrificial victim are important in covenant traditions. The oath taker is
symbolized by the body and bread of Jesus while the sacrificial victims are those who do not fulfill the
covenant. The crucifixion of Jesus reveals the new covenant where God declared that he will make a
new covenant with the people of Israel and that [He] will write the law in their minds and write it on
their hearts. [He] will be their God, and they will be [His] people, (English Standard Version, Jeremiah
31:32 33). By inscribing the law in their hearts and minds, his people will not forget their promise to
Him. In summary, God instilled a covenant in both Judaism and Christianity in which the Sinai
covenant can be seen as the original covenant and Jesus symbolizing the new covenant. Secondly, a
covenant includes five traits such as the preamble, historical prologue, the submission, witnesses, and
the blessings and curses. The origin of a covenant begins as a treaty between a sovereign nation and a
vassal nation which begins with a name . . . [then] describes the previous

Mel Brooks Essay
Biography
[edit] Early life
Born Melvin Kaminsky in Brooklyn, New York, U.S., to Polish Jewish parents Maximillian Kaminsky
and Kate Kittie Brookman. Brooks grandfather, Abraham Kaminsky, was a herring dealer who
immigrated in 1893. He and his wife Bertha raised their ten children on Henry Street on the Lower
East Side of New York City.
His father died of kidney disease at age 34. A year later, in 1930, Kittie Kaminsky and her sons Irving,
Leonard, Bernard and Melvin were living at 365 S. 3rd St. in the Williamsburg neighborhood of
Brooklyn, NY.
As a child, Mel was a small and sickly boy. He was bullied and picked on by his peers. By taking on

Brooks developed a repertory company of sorts for his film work: performers with three or more
Brooks films to their credit include Gene Wilder, Dom DeLuise, Madeline Kahn, Harvey Korman,

films, the only person with more appearances being Brooks himself.
In 1975, at the height of his movie career, Brooks tried TV again with When Things Were Rotten, a
Robin Hood parody that lasted only 13 episodes. Nearly 20 years later, Brooks mounted another
Robin Hood parody with Robin Hood: Men in Tights.
In 1980 Brooks became interested in producing the dramatic film The Elephant Man (directed by
David Lynch). Knowing that anyone seeing a poster reading Mel Brooks presents The Elephant Man
would expect a comedy, he set up the company Brooksfilms. Brooksfilms has since produced a
number of non comedy films, including David Cronenberg s The Fly, Frances, and 84 Charing Cross
Road, starring Anthony Hopkins and Anne Bancroft, as well as comedies, including Richard Benjamin

The 1980s saw Brooks produce and direct only two films, the first being History of the World Part I in

philanthropic, all the while exploiting and deceiving the native peoples of the Congo. However, it was
this same relentless ambition which would eventually lead to Leopold s being forced to sell his
colonial holdings, as the moral limits of the observers and of participants in the king s imperial system
were pushed to their breaking points.
King Leopold II began his career on the world stage as a young individual leading an almost equally
young nation. Much of his life was devoid of genuine human connections and emotion, and he
ruthlessly pursued power and profits, likely in an attempt to fill this void. He went about this pursuit
by modeling the nation which he so admired, Great Britain. He was entranced by its methods of
imperialism, and he came to the conclusion, after investigating a multitude of other options, that
Africa offered the most opportunities for his individual profit, as the majority of the wild lands on
other continents had already been colonized by more influential European powers.
After he came into power, Leopold broached the topic of a Belgium controlled colony in a much
different manner than he had while his father was still king. Previously, Leopold was

A Raisin In The Sun Literary Analysis
A Raisin In The Sun marked a great change in history for many. ..The play presaged the revolution in
black and women s consciousness as said by Robert Nemiroff(pg 1 intro). Not only was the

After finally being published on to broadway with a black cast and production, A Raisin In The Sun

the play fondled and changed many times in the eyes of many generations. None of which that

Dehumanization In The Book Night By Elie Wiesel
There are people crowded, shoulder to shoulder, expecting a shower and to feel water raining down
their bodies. Sighs of relief turn into screams of terror as innocent people are gasping for their last
breaths of air inside of the gas chamber. This was a daily occurrence for Jewish and other people
involved in the Holocaust. This was just one horrific event of many that had happened to women, men
and children. Some of the survivors have used their voice to speak out about their own background

John Knowles A Separate Peace
A Separate Peace Final Paper The setting of A Separate Peace by John Knowles plays a large role in
the plot of the story. The most important parts of the novel take place at the Devon School. Another
thing that makes Devon so important is that it s where the main characters live. As I mentioned before,
Devon is where most of the important parts of the novel take place and it s where the main characters
live, that is why Devon is so significant. The time period was also very important; the novel takes
place during World War II and Devon is a school where boys are trained to be soldiers. The war is
used as a symbol; it represents depression, anger, and the end of childhood. The Devon School can
change based on the season. During the summer session, Devon is a peaceful place and shows the
innocence of childhood and friendship. When the winter session arrives the peaceful atmosphere
disappears and the school becomes gloomy, tense, and a more hostile place as the boys grow up. ...

Sex Toys And Their Key Functional And Semiotic Components
This essay will give a detailed analysis of sex toys (for this essay the broad scope of sex toys will refer
to dildos (primarily), vibrators and variations of dildos including strap ons ) as an item of material
(consumer) culture through a historical and social analysis. The paper will discuss sex toys and their
key functional and semiotic components with reference to their cultural purpose, their popularity and
consumer interpretations and expectations. This essay will address social theory and the cultural work
of objects (in this case a sex toy) and will attempt to analyse and highlight issues related to the use and
interpretation of dildos.
A dildo is a phallic shaped object intended for bodily penetration during masturbation or sex with a
partner or multiple partners (dictionary.com, 2014). Early forms of dildos (made from stone, antler,
etc.) date back to the Upper Paleolithic period (Marshack, 1972) and 3rd Century Greece. Modern
style dildos began surfacing around the 19th Century (Deka, 2005; Fahs Swank, 2013) and were made
from rubber. The word dildo is loosely believed to derive from the Italian word diletto, which means
to delight (Fahs Swank, 2013; Statemaster.com, 2014). Dildos historically were used as a cure for
female hysteria (known today as sexual frustration) (Maines, 1998; Omori Slick, 2007; King, 2011;
Castleman, 2013; Fahs Swank, 2013) and other complaints. Dildos were originally marketed as a
medical aid in the 1880s, primarily available

Egyptian Makeup
The Egyptians are thought to be the first civilization to wear makeup. Egyptian makeup was used for
various reasons, including to denote social status and simply to improve the appearance. A substance
called unguent was applied to the skin as a moisturizer to protect it from the elements and discourage
wrinkles. Sometimes the unguent was scented. Various oils were also used to improve the skin. Both
men and women used cosmetics in ancient Egypt, with the most common look being a white face with
rimmed eyes and red lips.

Plutarch Controversy
Plutarch (45 120 AD), a Greek biographer and moral philosopher, is the author of Life of Antony: an
ancient source chronicling the life and dealings of Mark Antony (83 30 BC). Part of a larger collection
of biographies focused on prominent Roman and Greek figures, the Life of Antony was intended as a
character study (Fear, 2008). Plutarch was exceedingly intrigued by the ways in which the
personalities, integrities and shortcomings of legendary men influenced the path of history. Life of
Antony is infamous for its amalgamation of history and myth (Kimball, 2000). In the modern sense,
Plutarch would not be considered a true historian. However, the source gives notable insight into
significant figures in Antony s life in particular Cleopatra, Queen of Egypt (69 30 BC). It is considered
the principal ancient source of Cleopatra s life (Fear, 2008), detailing the effect Plutarch believed
Cleopatra to have on Antony.
In the provided extract Plutarch gives his depiction of Cleopatra and the leverage she has over Antony.

The performance measure is to improve patient satisfaction scores on the unit. Our goals are to
increase HCAPHS scores, to achieve this goal we will be implementing an anonymous patient
satisfaction survey for parents that will be given at of discharge. Results from this survey will provide
feedback on ways to improve patient care. As a result, it will improve HCAPHS scores for the
hospital, thereby increasing hospital reimbursement and revenue.
Quality
The quality measure is to decrease the time between admission and the administration of intravenous
antibiotics to infant whose mothers are GBS positive. Our goal is to decrease infection rates, length of
stay and decrease the incidence of morbidity and mortality rates. This goal will be achieved by
implementing a golden hour guidelines that will be initiated on admission once orders are placed for
blood cultures and antibiotics. The guidelines can also be used for septic work ups on the unit.

between patients will reduce mortality and morbidity rates, reduce length of stay, reduce infection
rates therefore increasing reimbursement for the hospital.
Employee Engagement:
The employee engagement measure is to increase number of certified nurses with RNC NIC or CCRN

The Nature And Role Of Law In Democracy
The nature and role of law is important to political theory because the use of law raises important
questions about oppression versus liberation and morality. Law in a democracy in relation to the
citizens that it governs should strive not to oppress, but rather to liberate and assist citizens when in
conflict with higher officials or fellow citizens. Laws in a democracy should be held with the intent of
safeguarding the public and promoting the common good. John Stuart Mill makes a valid point when
he says: The only purpose for which power can rightfully be exercised over any member of a civilized
community against his will is to prevent harm to others.
In addition to this, there is a fine line between the law and morality, as not every citizen shares the
same moral values. Law is able to be more finite, as it has a written set of rules that citizens should
strive to follow. However, morality is more subjective, as it weighs the right and wrong in given
situations.
The rule of law simply states that the law should be the overarching guideline. The rule of law
provides a framework that both citizens and government officials should follow. John Locke stated
that the rule of law provided protection from every other member of society, as indeed they are from
him. The rule of law allows for the right to life, liberty, and property so long as harm is not taken to
other citizens. In addition, the rule of law protects individuals from the state and ensures that
government is

Switching over to Regla de Palo, we see that this relationship seems a lot more strained and possessive
than one of Regla de Ocha. A major reason why many Cuban officials (and many laypeople) choose to
not outwardly partake in this religion is because of its known ability to backfire on those who are
followers, since they generally use the spirits for personal gain. A relationship with a spirit in Rela de
Ocha is similar to one of great abuse if we were to humanize the two parties. The spirit or muerto is

in the digital age . Although the actions of the United Nations are not legally binding, it is evident that
the right to Internet privacy is becoming increasingly important in the international world. Breaches in

The Blessed Month Of Ramadan
The blessed month of Ramadan, the time when almost 2 billion muslims around the world are fasting
and attempting to do extra good. Fasting was obligated two years after the muslims migrated to
Medina from Mecca. In Mecca, the economic conditions for the muslims were bad, they were being
persecuted, and often would go days without food or water. It was already difficult enough for them to
find food, it wouldn t be possible for them to abstain from something they were in extreme need off.
After they migrated to Medina, it was like a sanctuary, they were greeted open heartedly, and many
were actually waiting for them to arrive. After they settled down, the verses of ramadan were revealed.
Many people may wonder why are muslims so excited about a month in which they abstain from
food? Who would look forward to something like that? In essence there is much more to ramadan than
just abstaining from food though out the day, it is also about learning self discipline, controlling your
temper, and building your character. It teaches a great amount of patience. Our prophet once said,
Whoever does not give up lying and evil action, God is not in need of his hunger. Not only is it about
purifying your body, also your mind and soul. It is also a chance to increase your good deeds such as
giving charity to the poor, and mending family relationships. As we go through the day in hunger and

Reaction Paper On Jurisprudence
Introduction: To understand the topic of philosophy of law first we have to understand what is law?
Law is nothing but a group or collection of some rules that regulates and control society or country.
Every country has different rules and laws. Like in India we drive a vehicle on the left side of the road
but in America we drive a vehicle on the right side of the road. There are also some international laws
like if you do any bad thing then you will be punished. Laws control human behaviours. They restrict
human to do bad things. Law is also important for equality, justice and fairness.

What is jurisprudence?
Jurisprudence:
Jurisprudence is the study of law. Scholars in jurisprudence try to obtain a deeper understanding of
laws of nature, legal laws and legal institutions. Jurisprudence tries to seek, analyze, explain and
classify the entire body of law. Jurisprudence is the science or philosophy of law. Jurisprudence
creates a body of law, methods for interpreting the law, studies the relationship between law and
society, predicts the effect of legal decisions. We can divide jurisprudence into two parts: (i) analytic
jurisprudence and (ii) normative jurisprudence.
Analytic jurisprudence:
Analytic jurisprudence is the branch of the legal philosophy. The principal objective of analytic
jurisprudence is to find the reasons that are differentiates laws as a system of norms from the other
system of norms as ethical norms. It provides sufficient conditions that distinguish law from the non
law. It attempts to analyze the laws and legal systems. Analytic jurisprudence is a legal theory that
tries to understand the laws of nature. It deals about the basic questions of law. Like what is a law?
What are laws? What is the relationship between law and power? What is the relationship between law
and morality? There are three theories of law that fall under analytic jurisprudence (i) natural law

The Benefits Of Mandated Reading In High School
Reading has not really been one of my strong points. I remember my mom reading to me at a very
young age, but that was listening not reading. So, one could say, listening was a big part of my life,
but reading was not. Reading is not something I do for pleasure. I see reading as something I am taxed
with, something I must do. I am repeatedly punished with required summer reading and textbook
reading. There is no joy or pleasure trying to read chapter after chapter, only because you HAVE TO.
The fun in reading, especially in high school, has been killed by education and turned into the chore
worse than any other. The days of blissfully listening to a book have long past.
Mandated reading in high school invariably means a look at the past and being educated by the
classics . The meanings of books are shouted at students. These book have been read countless times
by an innumerable people and high school students are expected to regurgitate exactly what these
outdated classics are all about. Students are expected to figure out these classics and are brainwashed
to find the importance of select literary terms like tone, mood, and purpose. I find it ironic that as a
high school student, I am expected to relate to a middle aged author from 100 years ago. I am
personally sick of being shouted at. I miss simpler times when I could really understand the meaning
of a book, it whispered softly at me and did not yell at me and cause me to cringe. But I am not here to
tell people what I think about reading, I am here to talk about how it has shaped me. So, buckle up, it s
going to be a bumpy ride.
Rewind to childhood. I was read the commonplace child s books and I can vividly remember each and
every one of the Dr. Seuss books. In addition, my mom continued to bribe me to read by reading just
about anything relating to Thomas the Tank Engine. Again, I was not really reading, but I was
listening. I became a very good listener. My childhood reading continued until my younger brother
learned how to read at which point my mom no longer read out loud to us, but rather I was expected to
read independently. I resisted change, as most people do, and chose to read only books with pictures.

Is The Bible Reliable
In this day and age, teens have many questions regarding the Bible and its authenticity. There are
many sources where good and bad information can be absorbed and can shake their beliefs. The news,

Bible.
Some questions that teens may be having trouble with the Bible are: Where did it come from? Can it

WHAT IS THE BIBLE?
The word Bible comes from the words bíblia in Latin and bíblos in Greek. The Latin meaning

It contains 66 books containing messages from God to us. The books were originally written on

There are two main sections of the Bible. They are the Old Testament and the New Testament. The
Bible is then divided into six minor sections: the law, history, poetry, prophecy, biographies and
epistles. The Christian religion is based on the Bible and its teachings and shows how to apply God s

When Is Human Cloning Wrong
In February 1997, the scientific world was forever changed by the announcement of the birth of Dolly
the Sheep, the first mammal cloned from an adult cell (Jones 160). For the first time in medical
history, science allowed for the possibility of human cloning. With this development came the concern
that scientists would not only speculate about human cloning, but actually seek to attempt it. Such a
prospect generates ethical unease from both the public and Christian community. From a Christian
perspective, human cloning creates concerns for the well being of a cloned child or embryo and usurps
God s plan for human dominion. Human cloning would not be compatible with Christian ethics. In

Therapeutic cloning holds the potential to treat illnesses like heart and kidney disease, but the methods
require that human embryos be destroyed for the benefit of others (Hansen Schotsman 76). The Bible

embryo for medicine is not murder, therapeutic cloning create embryos (the very first stage of
humanness) for the sole purpose of harvesting the stem cells, thus ending the budding life of said
embryo. This process certainly reflects a form of killing, even if it is only the destruction of an
incredibly early human form. Additionally, taking advantage of human embryos disobeys Jesus

of what occurred during the Holocaust. One of the reasons it took so long for historians to
comprehend the importance of these perspectives is because women were busy rebuilding their lives
after the Holocaust. It wasn t until the 1970s when feminist scholarship was sparked, that there
became an interest in the stories of women survivors. Eventually, after the women were able to put
their lives back together and raise their children, it became important for them to share their memoirs.
One source of gender difference during the Holocaust experience women had more anticipatory
reactions towards Nazi danger. In Germany, even before the 1938 Kristallnacht pogrom, it was often
the women who had to assume new roles to rescue other family members. It was assumed that the
Nazis would not harm women, so it was typically women who went to the police, the SS and the
municipality to protest haphazard actions against their children and families and to secure the release
of husbands and sons who had been detained or arrested.

Case Study Of Parrots
5 Things you MUST know about your favorite pets Parrots
Parrots are one of the best gifts of nature, almost fairy tail like appearance makes them one of the
favorite choice as companions and pets. Here are 5 things that Every keeper should know about his/her
bird1. Behavioral Problems?
After a lot of research through the years the consensus is that Parrots present problems less frequently
than most of the other pets, Especially the exotic ones, like Macaws, African Grey and Cockatiels.
These species have stable temperaments and are less probable to show aggressive behavior. Macaws,
even the smaller ones have a wonderful sense of bigness , result of their genetic traits, and can
sometimes overreact to unfamiliar objects or something they see as a threat. Other species like
cockatiels, African Grey Parrot, small Budgies can show aggressive behavior during the mating
season, especially males. They have a sense of protectiveness for their offspring soon to be hatched.
Wild parrots like Indian Ring Necks have lots of problems being confined to smaller spaces and can
injure their keepers in aggression.2. Soothing or Noisy? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The important thing here is the Introduction phase, you need to be very cautious when introducing two
birds, because this moment will decide rest of their stay. Take extra care when introducing a smaller
bird to a significantly larger one. To introduce them to each other you need to give them at least 1 day
to get familiar with each other, keep their cages side by side, such that one bird can see the other. On
the Next day let the birds play in the same area for some time, but keep a closer eye on them, do this
for 2 3 days and if you see them getting along well then you can put them together. Else if one of the
birds is getting aggressive then give them some more time to familiarize with each other a little

Stereotypes In Jane Eyre
Jane Eyre is a coming of age novel written by Charlotte Brontë. Jane challenges the stereotypes of
women in the Victorian era. Every time she rebels, she is faced with a consequence that helps shape
the person she is later on. The integrity that is reflected through her character shows that the love she
finds in the end is completely worth it, considering she is finally content.
An example of Jane challenging expectations of Victorian women would be when she says, No. St.
John, I will not marry you. I adhere to my resolution. Women were assumed to desire marriage. . .
(British Library 7). An additional Victorian stereotype is that Women are supposed to be very calm. . .
(British Library 8) Jane challenges this stereotype when she is reading a book at Gateshead Hall. Her
cousin John starts a fight and throws a book at her. Jane couldn t take it anymore and had to stand up
for herself. Wicked and cruel boy! I said. You are like a murderer you are like a slave driver. . .
(Bronte 13) You can see that in Jane s character, she is a determined woman; she won t let the men
walk all over her. (Everything Jane Eyre 4) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jane was shown disapproval, but that was what motivated her to keep spreading her belief. The nature
of the consequence modifies the person s tendency to change or repeat the actions in the future.
(Analysis of Jane Eyre 3) After the scene of Jane yelling at her cousin John, she was locked into the
red room which was a remote room of which Mr. Reed died. This room made Jane realize that if she
did not encase her emotions at certain times, she will have to suffer even worse punishments. But
when you see the bigger picture you realize that this consequence leads to the development of Jane s
maturity and her better understanding for her place in

Native American Men Stereotypes Analysis
Short Assignment #2 When discussing characters in film and television, portrayals almost always
contain some sort of stereotype. This is especially true of male characters whose qualities are often
shaped around anger and aggression. We can see individuals across genres shown with repeated
motivations, actions, and appearances. These depictions delve even further into stereotyping when we
begin to examine characters who are also people of color. The media often depicts people of color in
tropes based on their racial and ethnic identities, and these tropes are usually offensive and
demeaning. People of color are usually shown in two ways; more aggressive and violent than the
white hero, or less aggressive and violent without imposing a physical threat. Either depiction is meant

The X Files are television show that tracks the adventures of FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.
In the episode Anasazi, Scully and Mulder follow a case that leads them to a Navajo Reservation in
New Mexico. Here they are greeted by a group of helpful Native Americans, depicted as stoic, wise,
and in touch with the earth. During the episode Mulder is severely wounded, and relies on rituals from
the Navajo to keep him alive. When I was younger I was often perplexed by stereotypical depictions
of Native Americans in the media. Most of my family is Native American, and while I am not native
myself I was always confused because they never acted in stereotypical ways. Now that I am older
and have began to analyze the portrayal of people of color, I have started to notice the fetishization of
these individuals and their association with nature and mysticism. When associating people of color
with mystical roles, these powers are often meant to aide a usually white hero with no gain for the
person of color. These characters also pose no threat to the hero, and have no existence outside of
aiding the

How Did the Dinosaurs Die and Will It Affect Humans in the...
Four and a half billion years ago, the debris and dust left from the formation of the sun coalesced to
form our home planet. 3.5 billion years ago, the first living organisms appeared on Earth. About 230
million years ago, Dinosaurs diverged from their Archosaurs ancestors during the middle to late
Triassic period. For 160 million years they have dominated our planet. They are dubbed the most
successful species to have lived on Earth. However, 65 million years ago, the most recent mass
extinction seemed to have caused all of them to die off. What caused the demise of the dinosaurs and
60% of life on Earth at the time? How did it affect life on Earth afterwards? Are all of the Dinosaurs
dead? Will this happen to humans in the near future? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
None was found. Luis Alvarez was a Nobel Prize winning physicist, inventor and pioneer in the field
of radiation and nuclear research. He and his son, noted geologist Walter Alvarez, were conducting
research in Italy when they discovered a centimeter thick layer of iridium enriched clay at the K T
boundary. Iridium is rare on earth, but more common in space. The Alvarezes published their findings
in 1981, postulating that the thin layer of iridium was deposited following the impact of a large
meteor, comet or asteroid with the earth. Furthermore, this bolide impact (the meteor, comet or
asteroid colliding with the earth s surface) could have caused the extinction of the dinosaurs. At the
time, the Alvarez theory was so farfetched from prevailing hypotheses that it was derided. Slowly,
other scientists began finding iridium evidence at various places around the globe that corroborated
the Alvarez theory. There was, however, no smoking gun in the form of an impact site. Then in 1991, a
massive meteor crater 110 miles in diameter was discovered on the edge of the Yucatán Peninsula,
extending into the Gulf of Mexico. The Chicxulub Crater, as it was dubbed, was named for a nearby
village. Scientists believe the bolide that formed it was roughly 6 miles in diameter, struck the earth at
40,000 miles per hour and released 2 million times more

Feste The Twelfth Night Fool
Feste the (not so much of a) Fool Throughout William Shakespeare s Twelfth Night, Feste exemplifies
the role of a jester and fool, but thoroughly demonstrates to his audience that there is more to him than
the other characters might see. Feste is often degraded by his fellow associates, and deemed inferior to
others because they view him for his lack of wits, but very few of them realize that Feste is anything
but a fool. Feste is Olivia s personal and professional fool, and is therefore given the license to kill
(with words). In the first scene that Feste is introduced to the reader, he is immediately stereotyped for
being the usual joker, and he even plays along with the part that others reckon him to play. In this
scene, Feste wittily

  • 2. Bacterial Conjunctivitis Essay Bacterial Conjunctivitis Bacterial Conjunctivitis, commonly known as pink eye , is one of the most well known and treatable eye infections for both children and adults. The name was chosen because it is an inflammation of the conjunctiva. The conjunctiva is the clear membrane that covers the white part of the eye and lines the inner surface of the eyelids. It is commonly called pink eye because of the red color of the eye from irritation and was described as such. Several different microorganisms cause Bacterial Conjunctivitis, the most common being Haemophilus aegyptius, the Koch week bacillus. This type of bacterium is gram negative and rod shaped. Haemophilus means blood ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both eyes are usually infected although is often starts in just one eye and the eyes are itchy and painful. The disease is treated with antibiotics that typically contain Sulamyd and administered as eye drops or an ointment for 7 10 days. Oral antibiotics can be given for certain types of bacteria. It is important, however, to continue medication as instructed by the physician, even after the symptoms have cleared. If antibiotics are not taken, the disease will run its course in fourteen days and a wet washcloth over the eyelids may help relive some discomfort. An over the counter Saline Solution, artificial tears , can be used to relive itching and burning, but precautions should be taken so that the bottle never touches the infected eye. Sunglasses can be worn relieve pain from the bright light. It should be noted that Bacterial Conjunctivitis is extremely contagious, especially in places with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Achieving Inclusion In Education Inclusion is the provision of strategies and resources to ensure all children are given the opportunity to reach their full potential irrespective of ethnicity, religious belief, gender, sexual orientation or disability (Dean, 2006; Department for Education (DfE), 2013). To attain inclusion, individuals must be enabled to fully participate in mainstream activities and to be valued and accepted within the school community (Coyle, 2011). However, Barnard, Prior, and Potter (2000) acknowledge that the process of inclusive education can prove challenging (Coyle, 2011; Simpson and De Boer, 2009; Humphrey, 2008). Under the 1944 Education Act, children with special educational needs were arranged according to their medical condition (House of Commons, 2006). Many children were considered to be uneducable in mainstream settings and were considered to be mentally retarded , maladjusted or sub normal (House of Commons, 2006). Pupils with SEN were often sent to special schools and taught practical skills as an alternative to standard education (Bateman, Lloyd and Tankersley, 2015). The Warnock Report in 1978, followed by the 1981 Education Act, introduced the idea of special educational needs (SEN), statements, and an inclusive approach to education (House of Commons, 2006). ... • 4. Muscular Contributions And Hip And Knee Extension During... The article Muscular contributions to hip and knee extension during the single limb stance phase of normal gait: a Theoretical Framework for Crouch Gait by Allison Arnold, Frank Anderson, Marcus Pandy, and Scott Delp investigates the biomechanics of normal gait in hopes to uncover ideas to help determine treatments for crouch gait. Crouch gait is a bothersome abnormality that affects the gait pattern of people who suffer from the condition of cerebral palsy. It s characterized by excessive flexion of the hips and knees during standing and excessive use of metabolic energy to complete a single gait cycle. Currently, the treatments for this condition are limited and have unpredictable outcomes due to the unknown biomechanical causes of the excessive flexion in crouch gait. These treatments include surgical lengthening of hamstrings, ankle foot orthoses, and intense stretching regimens, with patients experiencing results ranging from no improvement in their symptoms to dramatic improvements. The vast array of results from treatments are due to the little understanding medical professionals have of not only abnormal gait patterns (such as crouch gait) but of normal gait as well (Arnold, Anderson, Pandy, and Delp, 2005). Despite the article s title relating to crouch gait, the purpose of the study conducted was to examine and quantify the accelerations of normal hip and knee movements that were induced by specific muscles during the single limb stance phase and to rank these ... Her rebellion temper and colorful style is capturing along with her outstanding voice. Stefani was born (1969) in Fullerton, California and begun her musical carrier at age 17 (Billboard,.2017). I would consider Stefani a performer with Dionysian influence. Her music has always been passionate and reflecting her life experiences and views on current issues. The military sent fresh food and clean clothes into camps until the prisoners were able to come home. It took one to two months for the boats to arrive at camps to take prisoners home; the stronger prisoners were taken by plane whilst the weaker were brought by boat. Prisoners soon became VIPs as all prisoners were rescued before other soldiers. The exact number of prisoners is unknown as the Japanese did not keep records, or destroyed all of which they had; although it is estimated that one third of prisoners died in Japanese camps this is seven times higher than the death rate of Australian Prisoners of War in German camps. When soldiers were informed about their homecoming they were relieved and elated. We were going home, and it was just really terrific. We were absolutely elated. Even now I think of that homecoming. Even though the movie s characters were high school students and I was entering seventh grade at the time, their varied personalities seemed incredibly relatable to me. And as the months would pass, the idea of putting my thoughts about a short story based on the film on notebook paper rarely entered my mind. It all started when my grandmother, brother, cousin, and I were all invited by a religious organization to travel with other churchgoers to Allensworth, California. Formerly the first town founded by African Americans, it was now a historic park in the state s Central Valley area. My mother truly desired for my brother and I to go, as we would learn more about the history of our ethnicity. To keep from being bored, I brought a black ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The younger sister s boyfriend was a new student and a geek, and the older sister s boyfriend was a troublemaker, just like the film. But there were a few big differences: while both sisters in the movie were both in high school, in my story, the younger sister was a high school freshman and the older sister was a young adult. • 9. The Empty Corridor As A Tall Slender Woman Planes Footsteps echoed down the empty corridor as a tall, slender woman made her way towards a certain room. Though having walked down here many times, the eerie, cold feeling of the building sent visible shivers down her spine. The alabaster walls had a tinge of grey and it seemed that no matter how many people were present, this could not hold even the slightest touch of warmth. She stopped short in front of the familiar wooden door. Raising a hand, she rapped gently three times before unlocking the door and pushing it open. The room was dark, saved for the soft glow of the moonlight that flooded in. The woman looked around the spacious room before her attention finally landed on the lonesome figure in a corner. It was a boy no more than six years old. His blonde hair was slightly dishevelled and covered his eyes. His eyes they were different from the usual kids his age. Rather than holding a cheerful and mischievous glint in them, they were glassy and hallow. He stared unblinkingly at the woman at the doorway and though she did not outwardly show it, it unsettled her. She could feel the hairs at the back of her neck stand on end and a cold sweat starting to form but she swallowed and forced a smile as best as she could. Jerome, she called gently, it s bed time. • 11. `` For The Love Of Culture `` By Lawrence Lessig Copyright Laws Need an Update Since the beginning, copyrights have existed to protect people from theft of content, thus inspiring more creativity from the public. The interpretation of these laws has been twisted by large corporations to serve as a legal means to restrict content for public use and to gain from profitable licensing. It is essential that copyrighted materials are available to everyone for our culture to grow. With the copyright laws so perplexing and different depending on the context, individuals may not understand they are committing a crime by using information and be subjected to lawsuits, despite good intentions. Lawrence Lessig s three proposals for copyright changes are key concepts facing issues like this. It is crucial we pay attention because our cultural future is in jeopardy. In Lawrence Lessig s article For the Love of Culture , he explains his concern that our copyright laws are hampering our opportunity to learn about our past. Lessig gives us a good example in the beginning about a daughter of a late great American documentary. She felt it was important to re master her father s collections and make them available on DVD. Lessig describes the challenges she faced clearing permissions because of the copyright laws. He also explains how copyright laws are different when trying to access documentary films versus books. Lessig continues, explaining that Google scanned eighteen million books to have them accessible to the public. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Crooks has a hard time fitting in with the crowd because of his race. And having hopes and dreams nearly crushed by reality. He might represent the racial equality in the past where the President didn t have a speech about treating others with respect. Because he wanted to describe the inequality of races while keeping the subtlety. As said by Crooks, I can t play cards because I m black, (Steinbeck 68). That might be the reason why he s extremely lonely amongst the rest. Crooks has tried so much to make friends with people, He lost all of his trust. He s gotten his name from his severed spine being kicked or getting hit on numerous times while caring for the stables as a slave. Curley on the other hand is a egotistical one of a kind who likes to pick on people he thinks are weak compared to his strengths. I wouldn t pick a fight with him, Because it s going to get hot! Although he s the son of the ranch boss, That doesn t change anything at all. The author s syntax is a unique way of writing because it gives off a pioneer and cowboy ish feel to the story with it s complex grouping of words. It is effective towards the characters and/or the reader because of how hard it is to speak in a certain way without messing it up. Packet Hiding Methods For Avoiding Attacks Packet Hiding methods For Avoiding Attacks R.Roopini M.Tech, Software Engineering Ganapathy Engineering College , Hunter Raod ,Warangal Mr.K.Ranjith Khanna Assistant Professor, Department of CSE Ganapathy Engineering College , Hunter Raod ,Warangal Abstract: the open nature of the wireless medium leaves it vulnerable to drive or wedge packets forcibly into a tight position referred as squeeze. This intentional interference with wireless transmissions can be used as a launch pad for mounting Denial of Service attacks on wireless networks typically; squeeze has been addressed under an external threat model. However, person with depth knowledge of internet protocol specifications and network secrets can launch low effort squeeze attacks that are difficult to detect and counter. In these attacks, the adversary is active only for a short period of time, selectively targeting messages of high importance. We illustrate the advantages of selective squeeze in terms of network performance degradation and adversary effort by presenting two case studies; a selective attack on TCP and one on routing. In this work, we address the problem of selective squeeze attacks in wireless networks. We show that selective squeeze attacks can be launched by performing real time packet classification at the physical layer. To reduce these attacks, we develop three schemes that prevent real time packet classification by combining cryptographic primitives with physical layer attributes. We ... Important covenants revealed through both Testaments are the Sinai covenant and the crucifixion of Jesus, the new covenant. A covenant includes five fundamental features which help strengthen the notion that a covenant is an eternal promise with God, not a relationship that can be broken resulting in legal repercussions. Firstly, the origin of a covenant will be discussed. Secondly, this paper will shed light on the traits of a covenant. Lastly, this paper will explain how a covenant differs from a contract. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The idea of a covenant also originates in the Christian faith, where Jesus is seen as the new covenant in the New Testament. According to Britannica, [t]he cup of wine at the last supper of Jesus and his disciples is identified in all New Testament sources as the (new) covenant by Jesus himself ( par27). The oath taker and the sacrificial victim are important in covenant traditions. The oath taker is symbolized by the body and bread of Jesus while the sacrificial victims are those who do not fulfill the covenant. The crucifixion of Jesus reveals the new covenant where God declared that he will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and that [He] will write the law in their minds and write it on their hearts. [He] will be their God, and they will be [His] people, (English Standard Version, Jeremiah 31:32 33). By inscribing the law in their hearts and minds, his people will not forget their promise to Him. In summary, God instilled a covenant in both Judaism and Christianity in which the Sinai covenant can be seen as the original covenant and Jesus symbolizing the new covenant. • 21. King Leopold II Of Belgium Characterized by ambition and restlessness from an early age, King Leopold II of Belgium utilized his desire to make a name for himself, while increasing his personal wealth and power, and deftly harnessed subterfuge in order to convince the Belgian government that his interests in Africa were philanthropic, all the while exploiting and deceiving the native peoples of the Congo. However, it was this same relentless ambition which would eventually lead to Leopold s being forced to sell his colonial holdings, as the moral limits of the observers and of participants in the king s imperial system were pushed to their breaking points. King Leopold II began his career on the world stage as a young individual leading an almost equally young nation. Much of his life was devoid of genuine human connections and emotion, and he ruthlessly pursued power and profits, likely in an attempt to fill this void. He went about this pursuit by modeling the nation which he so admired, Great Britain. He was entranced by its methods of imperialism, and he came to the conclusion, after investigating a multitude of other options, that Africa offered the most opportunities for his individual profit, as the majority of the wild lands on other continents had already been colonized by more influential European powers. After he came into power, Leopold broached the topic of a Belgium controlled colony in a much different manner than he had while his father was still king. Previously, Leopold was ... As I mentioned before, Devon is where most of the important parts of the novel take place and it s where the main characters live, that is why Devon is so significant. The paper will discuss sex toys and their key functional and semiotic components with reference to their cultural purpose, their popularity and consumer interpretations and expectations. A dildo is a phallic shaped object intended for bodily penetration during masturbation or sex with a partner or multiple partners (dictionary.com, 2014). Early forms of dildos (made from stone, antler, etc.) date back to the Upper Paleolithic period (Marshack, 1972) and 3rd Century Greece. Modern style dildos began surfacing around the 19th Century (Deka, 2005; Fahs Swank, 2013) and were made from rubber. Plutarch Controversy Plutarch (45 120 AD), a Greek biographer and moral philosopher, is the author of Life of Antony: an ancient source chronicling the life and dealings of Mark Antony (83 30 BC). Part of a larger collection of biographies focused on prominent Roman and Greek figures, the Life of Antony was intended as a character study (Fear, 2008). Plutarch was exceedingly intrigued by the ways in which the personalities, integrities and shortcomings of legendary men influenced the path of history. Life of Antony is infamous for its amalgamation of history and myth (Kimball, 2000). In the modern sense, Plutarch would not be considered a true historian. • 30. The Nature And Role Of Law In Democracy The nature and role of law is important to political theory because the use of law raises important questions about oppression versus liberation and morality. Law in a democracy in relation to the citizens that it governs should strive not to oppress, but rather to liberate and assist citizens when in conflict with higher officials or fellow citizens. Laws in a democracy should be held with the intent of safeguarding the public and promoting the common good. John Stuart Mill makes a valid point when he says: The only purpose for which power can rightfully be exercised over any member of a civilized community against his will is to prevent harm to others. In addition to this, there is a fine line between the law and morality, as not every citizen shares the same moral values. Law is able to be more finite, as it has a written set of rules that citizens should strive to follow. However, morality is more subjective, as it weighs the right and wrong in given situations. The rule of law simply states that the law should be the overarching guideline. The rule of law provides a framework that both citizens and government officials should follow. John Locke stated that the rule of law provided protection from every other member of society, as indeed they are from him. The rule of law allows for the right to life, liberty, and property so long as harm is not taken to other citizens. With this development came the concern that scientists would not only speculate about human cloning, but actually seek to attempt it. Such a prospect generates ethical unease from both the public and Christian community. From a Christian perspective, human cloning creates concerns for the well being of a cloned child or embryo and usurps God s plan for human dominion. Human cloning would not be compatible with Christian ethics. In this essay, any reference to the word clone may be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therapeutic cloning holds the potential to treat illnesses like heart and kidney disease, but the methods require that human embryos be destroyed for the benefit of others (Hansen Schotsman 76). The Bible directly states that killing is a sin (NIV Bible, Exodus 20:13). Although some may argue that using an embryo for medicine is not murder, therapeutic cloning create embryos (the very first stage of humanness) for the sole purpose of harvesting the stem cells, thus ending the budding life of said embryo. This process certainly reflects a form of killing, even if it is only the destruction of an incredibly early human form. Additionally, taking advantage of human embryos disobeys Jesus command to love one another (NIV Bible, John 13:34). Jones states that therapeutic cloning [undermines] the welfare and dignity of human embryos, which as the weakest and most vulnerable of human beings should under no circumstances be experimented upon (174). No situation could justify the exploitation of human embryos for the medicinal benefits of therapeutic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 41. Women s Experiences During The Holocaust While women s experiences during the Holocaust were not entirely different from those of men, it would be false and misleading to assert that they were identical. There were many instances in which an individual s ordeal was shaped by his or her gender and it is only by understanding what was unique to women and children, and what was unique to men, that we can provide a complete account of what occurred during the Holocaust. One of the reasons it took so long for historians to comprehend the importance of these perspectives is because women were busy rebuilding their lives after the Holocaust. It wasn t until the 1970s when feminist scholarship was sparked, that there became an interest in the stories of women survivors. Eventually, after the women were able to put their lives back together and raise their children, it became important for them to share their memoirs. One source of gender difference during the Holocaust experience women had more anticipatory reactions towards Nazi danger. In Germany, even before the 1938 Kristallnacht pogrom, it was often the women who had to assume new roles to rescue other family members. It was assumed that the Nazis would not harm women, so it was typically women who went to the police, the SS and the municipality to protest haphazard actions against their children and families and to secure the release of husbands and sons who had been detained or arrested. Every time she rebels, she is faced with a consequence that helps shape the person she is later on. Her cousin John starts a fight and throws a book at her. • 44. Native American Men Stereotypes Analysis Short Assignment #2 When discussing characters in film and television, portrayals almost always contain some sort of stereotype. This is especially true of male characters whose qualities are often shaped around anger and aggression. We can see individuals across genres shown with repeated motivations, actions, and appearances. These depictions delve even further into stereotyping when we begin to examine characters who are also people of color. The media often depicts people of color in tropes based on their racial and ethnic identities, and these tropes are usually offensive and demeaning. People of color are usually shown in two ways; more aggressive and violent than the white hero, or less aggressive and violent without imposing a physical threat. During the episode Mulder is severely wounded, and relies on rituals from the Navajo to keep him alive. When I was younger I was often perplexed by stereotypical depictions of Native Americans in the media. Most of my family is Native American, and while I am not native myself I was always confused because they never acted in stereotypical ways. Now that I am older and have began to analyze the portrayal of people of color, I have started to notice the fetishization of these individuals and their association with nature and mysticism. When associating people of color with mystical roles, these powers are often meant to aide a usually white hero with no gain for the person of color. These characters also pose no threat to the hero, and have no existence outside of aiding the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Luis Alvarez was a Nobel Prize winning physicist, inventor and pioneer in the field of radiation and nuclear research. He and his son, noted geologist Walter Alvarez, were conducting research in Italy when they discovered a centimeter thick layer of iridium enriched clay at the K T boundary. Iridium is rare on earth, but more common in space. The Alvarezes published their findings in 1981, postulating that the thin layer of iridium was deposited following the impact of a large meteor, comet or asteroid with the earth. Furthermore, this bolide impact (the meteor, comet or asteroid colliding with the earth s surface) could have caused the extinction of the dinosaurs. At the time, the Alvarez theory was so farfetched from prevailing hypotheses that it was derided. Slowly, other scientists began finding iridium evidence at various places around the globe that corroborated the Alvarez theory. There was, however, no smoking gun in the form of an impact site. Then in 1991, a massive meteor crater 110 miles in diameter was discovered on the edge of the Yucatán Peninsula, extending into the Gulf of Mexico. The Chicxulub Crater, as it was dubbed, was named for a nearby village.
