President George H. W. Bush s Operation Desert Storm
From August 2, 1990 February 28, 1991, the Gulf War was fought between the US coalition forces
and Iraq. The Iraqi President, Saddam Hussein, decided to travel into the neighboring state of Kuwait
because of a dispute over debt. The Iraqi Army s occupation of Kuwait began on August 2, 1990. They
were immediately condemned by the UN Security Council. George H. W. Bush then deployed troops
into Saudi Arabia and urged allies to do the same. It became the largest military alliance since World
War II.
On January 16, 1991, President George H. W. Bush, announced the start of Operation Desert Storm. It
was a military operation designed to remove Iraqi forces from Kuwait, which Iraq invaded months
earlier. For weeks a combination of about two dozen

Nursing Quality Indicators
Abstract The National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators were published in an effort to build on
previously collected quality data and further develop nursing knowledge to provide best practice
nursing care. This paper explores eight scholarly articles that report on the relationship between hand
hygiene compliance and the nursing sensitive indicator of nosocomial infections. These items will be
reviewed; a needs assessment, high reliability standards, just culture principals, quality improvement
implications, a plan for future action using the Plan Do Study Act model, and summarization of ethical
implications. Health care organizations must engage in robust process improvement for hand hygiene
(HH) compliance for the resultant reduction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This aligns with the model of Plan Do Study Act. It is crucial to understand what we are trying to
accomplish, how we will know that a change is an improvement, and what changes can be made that
will actually result in improvement. Prevention strategies of nosocomial infections related to poor
hand hygiene include revision of: orientation, training processes, competency assessments, equipment
cleaning, handwashing procedures, switching to the use of single use IV flush vials, adding
strategically located waterless hand rubs, defining supervisory expectations, conducting in services,
team trainings, and tracking systems (Infection control related sentinel events, 2003). Potential
solutions to noncompliance include: consistent skin protectant application, reduced time required for
handwashing, and antiseptic stations at the bedside and room entry points (Boyce, 1999). Hospital
administrators must create an organizational atmosphere in which adherence to recommended HH
practices are considered an integral part of providing high quality care (Boyce, 1999). Improvement in

The Ethical Use Of Animals In Ancient Chinese Art
Animals have been used in artwork all throughout history in order to demonstrate how a culture
progressed, and helped give meaning to certain creatures. These beasts have always been in artwork
since cave paintings, and were praised as gods in a wide range of cultures. At times they were
worshipped as deities themselves or just under the ranking of one. Chinese and Indian artwork, both
use animals in their own respected ways, and show different organisms with their own power and
metaphoric meaning. Animals in both cultures share similar ideals of status and power, while also
teaching citizens at how their civilization worked. Both countries depicted beasts and mythical
creatures in their own style, which was either more natural or abstract, and their contrasts can be seen
in how the people used the carving, and where it was installed. ... Show more content on

In India, animals were used as religious idols and for demonstrating an element of power, or at times
even acting as a gatekeeper. Indian artwork, mostly used larger mammals, such as boars, lions, and
elephants in their sculptures because people recognized the iconography of these creatures, and used
that to their advantage to spread knowledge of Buddhism and Hinduism. China with its horses, and
other abstract mythical creatures were used in royal tombs for when they went to the next life. They
were used more as a status symbol, since horses were only for citizens in the military and nobility.
Through the use of different art styles and the intent of the artwork, Chinese and Indian art of animals
suggests that while these pieces were used for what religion and morals the people believed in, they
were used for different reasons, which gave them different cultural

Essay on The Problem of Global Warming
The Problem of Global Warming
Imagine you are placed into the future. The year is 2100. You begin to live in this new world. You hear
about huge storms over much of the USA that cause severe damage and flooding. San Francisco, New
York City, New Orleans, Seattle, and Miami all experience major flooding from the ocean level
having risen so high. Thousands and thousands of people perish each summer across the USA alone
hundreds die in Chicago as the temperature soars to 100 for 2 weeks straight.
No, this isn t total fantasy. These events all could occur. All of them could result from one thing global
warming. Global warming is a huge problem with many consequences that people don t realize could

Because more carbon dioxide is being put into the air, there is more absorption by the atmosphere and
more reflection back to the surface, so the surface is getting warmer. Now, what actions are resulting
in the expansion of the greenhouse effect?
Two main causes are burning fossil fuels and driving our cars. According to a NASA earth observatory
web page, fossil fuel burning (coal, oil and gas) releases about 6 billion metric tons per year. On the
EPA web site, it is stated that most of the emissions of greenhouse gases, about 82%, are from burning
fossil fuels to generate electricity and power our cars. As I said before, driving our cars also is a large
cause. For example, Ecobridge states that Twenty percent of U.S. carbon dioxide emissions comes
from the burning of gasoline in internal combustion engines of cars and light trucks. So a fair amount
of the emissions is from driving your car.
Deforestation, the cutting and burning of a forest, also increases the amount of carbon dioxide into the
atmosphere. A NASA page says that when a forest is cut and burned to establish cropland and
pastures, the carbon that was stored in the tree trunks (wood is about 50% carbon) joins with oxygen
and is released into the atmosphere as CO2. CO2, is, of

The subject of this speech is not as simple as one may think at first glance. The obvious answer is the
subject is a dedication of cemetery at the Gettysburg battlefield during the American Civil war.

My Love Of Math As A Career In Math
When I sit down to think about critical events in my K 12 experiences, my first thought goes to when I
changed schools. I switched from a private school, to a public school between my 3rd and 4th grade
years. Once I switched schools, I realized how much more advanced I was in mathematics as
compared to my peers. Because I am such a competitive person, I was immediately drawn to the
things that I was best at, because then I can win . Before I changed schools, I knew that I enjoyed
math, but this realization is really what cemented my love of math. So, for this reason, the majority of
my life, I ve known that I wanted to do something related to math. These feelings only intensified as I
got older and into classes like Algebra and Pre Calculus. For me, when I was faced with a math
problem, it was like a puzzle. I knew there was an answer and I had faith in myself that I could find
the answer if I kept trying hard enough. I enjoyed sitting down, and working on a problem, because it
was so rewarding and exciting when I figured out the answer. Despite knowing that I wanted to do
something math related for so long, I never had any idea what specific career within the mathematics
field that I wanted to pursue. Most of the mathematics careers that I looked into sounded really boring
to my early teens self. The only one that somewhat caught my attention was teaching. In addition to
that, my Geometry teacher, who I also had for Algebra II the next year, was an amazing teacher who

The Involvement Of Child Protective Services
In this research proposal the independent variable is the involvement of Child Protective Services.
Child Protective Service s involvement is measured based on a questionnaire, which ask the
participant have they ever had any previous Child Protective Service involvement, and if so when?
The research will include both participants who have answered yes and no to this question.
Furthermore, if the participant has answered yes, they will only be included if the Child Protective
Service involvement was in the last five years. The dependent variable in the research is the risk
factors of child maltreatment, as measured by the Adult Adolescent Parenting Inventory. The three risk
factors that will be examined as part of this research are parental empathy towards children s needs,
the use of corporal punishment, and expectations of children. The source of the data was originally
collected through an intake process. The information regarding our independent variable is collected
in interview form. The intake worker asked the participant several questions including their previous
CPS involvement. Information regarding out dependent variable was originally collected in a self
administered survey. The form is then input into a computer program and results are created. The
independent variable is not manipulated in any way. Procedure The secondary data that we will be
analyzing is collected by the Greater Richmond SCAN s Family Support Program during the intake
process for parenting

Why People Cant Go To Church
On page 90 when he was talking about the people in the church that might not be saved, he said Their
case is past all hope; they are crying in extreme misery and perfect despair; but here you are in the
land of the living and in the house of God and have an opportunity to obtain salvation. This really
sticks out to me because every Sunday that we sit in church, its easy to take it for granite, but its really
a privilege. Some people cant go to a church legally, and others feel as though they wont be accepted,
there s so many reasons why people cant or don t go to church. This convicts me because I realize just
how blessed I am to be able to worship God in a public place and to be able to speak about Him.

Ed Zwick’s Glory
Ed Zwick s Glory An Exemplary Model for Historical Films
History, I am convinced, is not just something to be left to the historians. Warren Susman
[1] From a critic s point of view, what is there not to scrutinize when a white, Jewish filmmaker is
responsible for a historical film about African Americans during the Civil War? One which happens to
have a brave young Boston Brahmin as the supposed leader of a colored battalion? Surely he does not
have the license to create a film based on a heritage with which he has no affinity. Director Ed Zwick
was apprehensive with the task and struggled with his entitlement to create such a film.
I was afraid initially that a young, white, liberal, Jewish director would be ... Show more content on

The critic does point out that Glory is by no means flawless, citing historical discrepancies;
nevertheless, a sound approval is given.
[3] From a supportive angle, Morgan Freeman, an academy award nominee black actor, fully backs
every aspect of the project. Freeman was not only ecstatic about the idea for the film, but he also
defended Zwick and screenwriter Kevin Jarre from criticisms about the film s alleged whiteness. In
rebuttal to a charge by Roger Ebert that Glory concentrates too much on the white point of view,
Freeman claimed:
I don t have a problem with that. You cannot reasonably ask a white writer to do it differently. Now, if
we re going to start citing some unfortunates, it might be unfortunate that a black writer didn t write it,
but if a black writer had written it, there s a good chance he wouldn t have found a producer. So there
you are. This is a movie that did get made, and a story did get told, and that s what is important.
Reportedly, Freeman was so adamant about the film s script that he approached Zwick in the
auditioning stages, pleading, Whatever you want, you ve got me. Moreover, he and co star Denzel
Washington (1989, Best Supporting Actor, Glory) took significant pay cuts to make the film a success
for the sake of art and history.

.
What are the causes of discrimination?
People act without thinking, and sometimes say things that hurt others. Discrimination happens when
you or someone else treat someone unfairly. For example, making fun of their skin color, their
appearance, culture, language, age, etc. The outcome of discrimination has its causes and effects.
Welcome to the world of discrimination.
Discrimination is often based on ignorance, prejudices and negative stereotypes. Because many people
fear what seems strange or unknown, they react with suspicion or even violence to anyone whose
appearance, culture or behavior is unfamiliar.
Attitudes, actions or institutional practices that subordinate or marginalize anyone can be considered
discrimination. Racism in particular has historical roots in beliefs in the superiority of one group over
another, beliefs that were once used to justify discrimination against inferior groups. Although such
beliefs are now widely rejected, racial discrimination nevertheless continues to exist. Other forms of
discrimination include sexism, ageism, homophobia, anti Semitism and

Allusion Lost Boy
As kids and even as adults we all wanted to feel like we belong, that we are loved. We surround
ourselves by friends and we cling dearly to the friends and family we have. The song Lost Boy by
Ruth B expresses that joy of fitting in and the loneliness of not. More specifically, Ruth B
demonstrates in Lost Boy that we can feel loved and wanted when we do things that we love and have
a place to dream. In the beginning of the song she talks about being alone as a kid; There was a time
when I was alone/No where to go and no place to call home. Ruth B used the allusion of the story of
Peter Pan and the lost boys to emphasize how she was lonely and then found a home in Neverland.
There are also metaphors within the allusion that she used. Peter

Thief Film Themes
However, this rejection that these characters have also seems to be a symbol of male anxiety. The
characters always seem to be dispatched by their male equivalents. Looking at Heat again, when Neil
Mc Cauley is dying, he reaches out gesturing to hold Vincent s hand, squeezing it tightly. This scene
cries out as a testimony to Michael Mann s recurring interest in the relationship between the
professional opposites which almost always seems to result in a metaphysical displacement that is
strangely elevating.
In Thief (1981) which was Mann s feature film debut, laid out a thematic blueprint that his later work
would follow. Frank s character played by James Caan strives to create a family with Jessie his

The double is the battle between the protagonist and the antagonist in Mann s film. The double always
seems to be men with opposite professions. But still professions that take place or follow those that
are in the urban night. In Collateral Vincent (Tom Cruise) is a hitman whilst Max (Jamie Foxx) is a
taxi driver. In Heat Neil Mc Cauley is a criminal whilst Vincent (Al Pacino) is a cop. The
expressionistic use of urban architecture in Mann s films (concreate, glass, steel) highlights the
estrangement that postmodernism creates between people. This mirror image theme is most visible in
the Manhunter . Will Graham (William Petersen), chases after the notorious tooth fairy serial killer
because he is able to place himself in the same mind set as the killer in order to catch him. His
psychological instincts and suppressed self, contain an inner self that is unnatural and vexatious. This
theme of mirror images is also present in Collateral . When Max is forced to confront his boss about
being exploited about, we see the contempt that Vincent has for authority and power in general. Max
wants to get rid of Vincent because he is a constant reminder of his failure to take appropriate action in
his life. Max is totally at the mercy of the social forces and unable to negotiate which unlike Vincent
who is a hitman has a detachment from this empowerment that he has constructed through identifying

Capital Market Is The Lifeblood Of Business And Industry
1.0 Introduction
Capital is the lifeblood of business and industry and capital market is the main source for raising
capital. It provides long term fund for industries and creates investment scope for the mass. Capital
market plays a vital role in industrial, and thus overall economic, development of a country.
Bangladesh stock market seems to be extremely volatile; the price fluctuations of this market are so
high. As a result, confidence of investors in the market place fell drastically during the two bubbles
burst episodes. Market insiders said that this lack of confidence following the ongoing liquidity crisis
in the market is due to lower participation of investors. This upward and downward swing is a
characteristic feature of the market and is termed as stock market volatility.
The year 2010 was noticed as the abnormal bullish trend with all the barometers touched the historical
height, consequences has been happened in year 2011 as all the barometers gone to the bearish
condition. As a result most of the individual investors who are the middle class earning investors lost
their valuable money.
Most of the time, the collapse is attributed by the negative attitude of investors, liquidity crisis, insider
trading, placement shares, stock split, omnibus account, strong manipulation and money whitening.
Hence general investors have lost confidence on the capital market an they are the victims. It is true
that the market does not move on its own accord, there are forces

How IT helps Essay
How IT helps
Without IT, projects such as this would not be possible. It enables many things such as:
* Error handling if you make a mistake in a word processing package such as Microsoft Word, you
can just delete it or undo it.
If this was to happen on paper, then any resolution is bound to look out of place, whether it be Tipp ex
or scribbling out.
* Software such as Encarta and other computer encyclopaedias, along with the internet, make research
very easy. One problem with this though is that there is often so much information on the internet, it
can be hard to choose which of it is relevant or not.
* Desktop publishing software such as Microsoft Publisher makes presentation easy and relatively
quick. A document ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
* A disadvantage with desktop publishing programs and other computer software programs is that
whereas a user can learn the basics of the program with relative ease, mastering a piece of software
can take a very long time. This, when compared to hand written presentation which takes just common
sense after a certain level of teaching, is a major disadvantage.
How to protect your PC
There are methods of protecting your PC from viruses and bugs etc.
There are many pieces of Anti Virus software that can be purchased and then installed. These are
programs such as Norton Anti Virus, and
McAfee. Also, many new computers come with a firewall. This stops all incoming files that could
contain viruses and effectively filters dangerous documents. Another way of protecting against viruses
is by making backup files and folders and saving them to disk. This means that important files are
saved outside of your PC also. Check download files and external discs for infection before
downloading/installing them. By following this advice, danger from viruses should be at a minimum.
Errors and their causes
Errors on a PC may be caused by you, or by automatic actions within the PC. For example, in
Microsoft Word, if you as the typist makes a spelling mistake, the mistake is underlined in a red
squiggly line, or a grammatical mistake in a green squiggly line. Options for corrections can be seen

Sarah Payne Case Study
Whiting was questioned about the disappearance of Payne, which had taken place about 8 km (5
miles) from Whiting s place of residence. Whiting was routinely questioned as he had been placed on
the Sex Offenders Register. The officers left Whiting, but were suspicious of his lack of concern for
Payne, something that some of the worst offenders had shown when questioned in connection with
Payne s disappearance.[citation needed] When Whiting re appeared soon after he attempted to drive
away in his van, he was stopped by the police and arrested.[citation needed] Whiting spent two days in
custody, but a lack of police evidence led to Whiting s release on bail. Although police had found a

This included fibres from items in Whiting s van, in Sarah s hair at the grave site and DNA tests
proving that a hair found on the red sweatshirt was Sarah s.
A total of more than 500 items were submitted for forensic analysis. Over 20 forensic experts were
employed during the inquiry in the fields of entomology, pathology, geology, archaeology,
environmental profiling and oil/lubricant analysis. The whole investigation involved a thousand
personnel and cost more than £2 million.
The forensic evidence in Operation Maple rested on a combination of DNA and fibres work. When
Sarah s body was found 17 days after she disappeared, she had no wounds from an assault and her
body was badly decomposed making identification difficult. A full DNA profile was obtained from
muscle and matched to a full profile obtained from a milk tooth saved by Sarah s mother.

Hansberry Make The Turning Point Of Karl Lindner
Explore the ways in which Hansberry makes the first visit of Karl Lindner such an intense scene.
Hansberry s play captures how Chicago (and America in general) was around the 1950 s; although
Chicago claimed to be anti racist, Hansberry shows what life was like for black families in that day
and age. It also has elements from her own life in it, making it a more realistic story. Hansberry used
many techniques to create a build up of tension until Karl Lindner came out with what he had to say,
which was racially prejudiced and very discriminatory towards the family. This was the turning point
in the play where everything they worked for was starting to go wrong. A way tension was built was
by the way in which Lindner was treated in the beginning. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lindner is very nervous and seems to not know how to tackle the situation, therefore he tries to avoid
it for a great period of time and sends Beneatha through different states of emotion. At first Beneatha
is quick to understand what he is aiming to say but later on Lindner misleads her by saying I am sure
you people must be aware of some of the incidents which have happened in various parts of the city,
when coloured people moved into certain areas. By this he meant violence directed toward the Black
families that moved into white neighbourhoods this could also be a masked threat towards the family.
Afterwards, he tells them that he and his neighbourhood not only deplore that kind of thing but they
are trying to do something about it. After he says this it seems as though he is going to say something
more pleasant, he has also got the family encouraging him to do so. This increases the tension because
it is right before the message is clear, you can see that by the way Lindner is talking, which is clearer
and there is no constant manipulation of his word order. He is also gaining confidence to finish up his
speech. It is also stated clearly in the stage directions (more encouraged by such affirmation). The
family at this point is expecting something positive from him, but after he says Our people out there
feel that people get along better, take more of a common interest in the life of the community, when
they share a common background. To put it simply, he and his neighbourhood are telling them that
they are unwanted just because they do not have a common background by this meaning skin colour.
Lindner also thinks that the family is willing to agree and he is willing to buy back the house. This
leaves the family in utter disbelief, you can see this when Ruth exclaims ain t this a living gall!

Reconstruction Of Automobile Destruction Undertaken By...
Overview
The study, Reconstruction of Automobile Destruction undertaken by Loftus Palmer in 1974 consisted
of two experiments, these experiments were completed in order to test their hypothesis that the way in
which a question about an eyewitness testimony was asked can change the recollection of events
perceived by the witness . The study served to aid the argument that memory can be altered and
distorted when they subject is presented with new information that is given prior to the event. In order
to test their hypothesis, Loftus Palmer conducted two laboratory experiments; both experiments took
the design of an independent measures. The first experiment consisted of a group of 45 students who
were shown footage of car accidents, following each film questionnaires were answered. The critical
question from this questionnaire was in regards to the speed at which the car was travelling. In this
question the verb used to describe the actions changed, meaning this was the independent variable.
The results of this question varied depending on the verb used. With the highest mean speed being for
the word smashed and the lowest for the verb contacted . The dependent variable in this experiment
was the estimated mean speed.
The second experiment differed in that it had a sample size of 150 students, they were divided into
groups of 50. Again the groups were shown footage of car accidents however in this experiment one
group of 50 were asked how fast the cars were

Analysis Of Midaq Alley
Setting is used in literature in order to set the time and place as well as the mood within a literary
piece. Mahfouz uses various settings throughout the novel in order to showcase the development of
Hamida s rebellious character. The different settings come together to deliver the important message
of Hamida s literal and metaphoric entrapment, loss of her identity, and the development of her
rebelliousness. Since the novel takes place during WWII in the 1940s, it brings about the idea of
modernization due to the colonization of the British, which shows that the setting plays a major role in
portraying Hamida as a rebellious character. As Midaq Alley is a translated book from Arabic to
English, it may have lost its original value in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The alley is also said to live in complete isolation from all surrounding activity (Mahfouz,1) indicating
that it is entirely bounded and all activity that happens in it is restricted to only the people of the alley
showing how the topographical trap also relates to the social entrapment that the alley is facing. With
no reference to the outside world, the alley is bound to be a trap that no one, not even Hamida, can
escape. The claustrophobic state of the alley reflects the oppression propagated by the alleys rejection
to modern values. This is further shown by the description of the atmosphere of the alley when it is
described to be veiled in the brown hues of the glow. (Mahfouz,1) the use of the color brown,
indicating visual imagery, shows the negative claustrophobic, and gloomy atmosphere which runs
through the alley. The color brown is a color between black and white, symbolizing negativity and
positivity, respectively. However, the color black is more evident in the color brown, therefore
symbolizing negativity of the alley as it was veiled with the brown hues meaning it was masked with
gloominess and pessimism. The alley is also described as having a distinctive life of its own
(Mahfouz,1) proving once again that the alley and the people within it are limited between the
boundaries of the alley and their life only consists of the people within the alley with no

Ecclesiastes 7:1 where it reads A good name is better than precious ointment, and day of death better
than birth . This quotation explains that one must work ten times as hard to produce a proper name
than any material possession or luxury; this is most important in the sense that when one passes on
only their reputation lives on. In addition, a famous statement from Abraham Lincoln: Character is
like a tree and reputation a shadow. The shadow is what we think of it, but the tree is the real thing .
Lincoln makes the point that everything one does should be a reflection of character to produce a
transparency between who one is viewed as by friends and family, and who they truly are. As one
moves along in life, their reputation fluctuates, how their reputation results will assist in determining
the success they exhibited in life.
What do you do? Even though the answer should be simple one will concern themselves with adding
titles or an explanation in an attempt to say I am successful or to ensure their importance to the
community. Just like saying The car isn t

Women Seeing the World through a Different Lens in Three...
At the time Virginia Woolf wrote The Years and Three Guineas, there were many differences between
men and women, one of which was education. Most women were not educated, which prevented them
from entering into agency. Women allowed themselves to be played by history. In order for them to
change a world that was dominated by men, women needed to refuse what history said was their
essence, and rather, use that essence to create critical ways of being in the world. The photograph, a
crudely colored photograph of your world as it appears to us who see it from the threshold of the
private house; through the shadow of the veil that St. Paul still lays upon your eyes; from the bridge
which connects the private house with the world of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, women believed that they had no choice other than to side with men. They were dependent
on their fathers or husbands income, which prevented them from freedom. Although women did not
work as judges, lawyers, or any other job in the public world, they worked at home. Women were
wives, mothers, and daughters, and without them, the state would collapse and fall to pieces, without
whose work your sons, Sir, would cease to exist, (Three Guineas 54).
Although this was unjust, men were not entirely at fault. Married men got paid twice that of a
bachelor. Half of men s salary belonged to their wives, but women had little access to their husband s
salary. We may assume that the wife of an educated man has as much money to spend, (Three Guineas
55). Then why, didn t women spend that money on pleasures that she enjoyed? Because men made the
money, women allowed them to decide how it should be spent. She lays out thousands and thousands
of pounds upon clubs to which her own sex in not admitted; upon racecourses where she may not ride;
upon colleges from which her own sex is excluded. She pays a huge bill annually for wine which she
does not drink and for cigars which she does not smoke, (Three Guineas 56). Once all of the bills were
paid, women should have spent their share on causes that were important to them, on something that
would benefit their own well being, such as education. Without their own

It is extremely important to build you brand loyalty in this industry, whether it s through rewards
programs or unique dine in experiences, it can make or break your business. Panera Bread Company
will need to make sure that it implements a strategic strategy that separates itself from its competitors
and provides a supreme food quality and dining experience. TO: Ron Saich FROM: Subject 3 5 Year
Plan Recommendation 1: Expand the Panera Brand both Nationally amp; Globally Panera Bread
Company is not reaching its full potential when it comes to their need to expand into new unchartered
markets. By expanding both nationally and globally they will be able to more readily compete with the
likes of a Starbucks who has over 17,000 stores across the globe. Panera needs to become the place
that people want to get their coffee and baked goods from, an area that Starbucks currently rules in the
market place. Panera also does not have any global presence, by utilizing different continents such as
Europe and Asia they should be able to bring their brand from a more local/national brand to a more
global one, increasing revenue along the way. In doing this they should begin testing new menu items
that would attract customers of different cultures. Recommendation 2: Expanding the Current Menu
Panera Bread Company should open itself up to the idea of serving alcohol at each and every one of
its stores. In order to enhance its afternoon chill time and dinner

Loneliness Is Not Good For The Man
Of all the fantasies that human beings entertain, the idea that we can go it alone is the most absurd and
perhaps the most dangerous. We stand together or we fall apart. George Monbiot Did you know the
physical effects of loneliness are comparable to smoking 15 cigarettes a day? Loneliness raises your
chance of death by 26%. While we known intuitively that loneliness is harmful, science is beginning
to show just how harmful. At the very beginning of the Bible, God declares, It is not good for the man
to be alone. And yet, in our western society we constantly seek after individualism. We think that
somehow we ll be able to achieve what we want on our own. The drive to go it alone is deeply rooted
in our culture and we re seeing the effects of what we ve sown. Mental illness is on the rise. One in
four women between 16 and 24 have harmed themselves, another 26% of these women are also
affected by anxiety, depression, phobias or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. While depression and
loneliness are at an all time high, we need leaders to rise up and blah blah blah In The Prince, the
world Machiavelli lays out for a leader is a lonely one. The better to be feared than loved principle is
an idea that stifles community and isolates a leader. The story of Esther, however, proposes a different
view of leadership, one in which community is of high value. While Esther s courage was certainly
heroic, it would not have been possible without the support of her community,

Drug Testing Argumentative Essay
Argumentative Essay Drug testing!! Is it necessary? I think that drug testing for athletes should be
required because athletic students should be held to higher standards because they represent their
school in many ways. Also playing a sport is a privilege, not a right and they should abide by the rules.
Another reason that we should drug test athletic students is that the student may need serious and we
can get them that. First of all athletic students should be held to higher standards. Students who
participate in sports, travel very often to other areas and compete against different schools. Being as
they are competing if a student were to be high or using steroids the reputation of the team and/or their

According to Smith, Joanna. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Issues. drug use can cause anxiety,
mood swings, and depression. These mental illnesses are hard to live with and the introduction to
drugs will just intensify their symptoms. When using drugs you may also contract drug induced
anxiety. Anxiety can cause restlessness ,impact of the event, inability to set aside a worry. This could
correlate with the way the student plays his or her sport. Also along with that drug use can aid in you
developing schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is A disorder that affects a person s ability to think, feel, and
behave clearly. The opposite view believes that drug testing is a violation of privacy. In the veronia VS
acton case the argument was that drug testing the students was a violation of privacy and should not
be administered. They are wrong because drug testing isn t harming the students any more than the
drugs that they may be taking. If you child doesn t take drugs then they should have nothing to worry
about when asked to take a drug test. If they were to drug test your child and find that they were
indeed taking drugs you may be able to get them help before it gets

Ronald Reagan Analysis Paper

Ronald Reagan was born in 1911 and died in 2004 the former president of the United States from
1981 to 1989 was also the governor of California from 1967 to 1975. Many people have mixed
feelings of Ronald Reagan. Some did not like that Reagan was an actor before he became president of
the United States.
Attempted assassination
In 1981 President Ronald Reagan survived an assassination attempt. The time was estimated around
2:25 p.m. The day was March 30, 1981. The shooter was a 25 year old male by the name of John
Hinckley Jr. Ronald Reagan was shot the round punctured his lung; three others were also injured

As seen on the movie Lord of War starring Nicholas Cage, the Soviet Union after the cold war did sell
many of its weapons. Ronald Reagan was given much of the credit for the collapse of the Soviet
Union. Reagan did play a major role and did come up with many of the ideas however without the
people being able to do the task at hand many of Reagans plans would never have worked. It can be
argued that without Ronald Reagan the people would not have been pushed to make the technology
leap that they did.
Overrated
An argument that can be made in many directions, Ronald Reagan was a very good president and he
does deserve much of the credit that he is given. Matter of opinion most people are overrated if they
have to count on others to make their dreams and or goals achievable. Ronald Reagan did many great
things but if not for many smart people to make them not sure how things would have been different
today but main thought is the military. The military saw many improvements in technology under
Reagan, at the same time Reagan was not in charge of designing new tanks or air craft other people
were. Reagan did not have much to do with the hostages being released the people were not
intimidated by Ronald Reagan to the point of giving up. They released the hostages because Carter
was no longer in office. The people were mad at Carter for giving cancer treatment to their

Supernatural Aid In Campbell s A Once And Future King
Like the training wheels on a child s bike, help is given in order to make the new rider stronger and
better able to control the dynamics of a newly discovered notion. In Campbell s eyes, the same
concept correlates with the help given to a hero. This help making them wiser, stronger and better able
to face the challenges offered by adventure. The help may include the distribution of maps, weapons,
or something more mythical, some sort of supernatural aid. This aid, according to Campbell, is always
in the form of a mentor, a wise, old prune that completes the tasks of foreseeing the hero to victory.
Merlyn, in the story A Once and Future King, better adheres to Campbell s vision regarding the
magical guide in the heroic journey. The concept of a magical guide or supernatural aid informs the
audience of unworldly guidance that follows after the acceptance of The Call to Adventure . The texts
A Once and Future King and Le Morte d Arthur both exemplify an entity, Merlyn, that invades the life
of a hero, Arthur, as an aid in order to guide him to victory regarding his journey and adventure.
Heroes are often began on their trip by a character who has aced the laws of the outside world and
returns to offer wisdom and experience. This otherworldly character or magical guide regularly gives
the hero the way to conquer the adventure. As a less than dependable rule the blessing is just insight.
In each occurrence it is something the hero needs to succeed. As Campbell says,

Eritrean Ambassador: The USA and Gulf States Want to Make Egypt Thirsty
On Thursday September 7, 2017, Al Masri Al Youm published an interview it conducted with the
Eritrean ruling party ambassador in Cairo. Here we present the English version of the Arabic original
which was translated by the Awatestaff.
The Ambassador says, some Gulf States but given the context of the present crisis in the Arab Gulf, it
is no secret he is accusing Qatar in collaboration with the USA is trying to make Egypt go thirsty by
chocking the flow of the Nile River to Egypt. Qatar used to be the main supporter of the Eritrean
regime until the current Arab Gulf crisis.

Ethiopia has a «Phobia» of Eritrea s relationship with any other country, not only with Egypt. In
addition, the Ethiopian regime wants to distract the people from [focusing] on their economic and
political problems, and the idea of an external enemy is spread to them. He noted that some Western
and Gulf countries are behind Ethiopia s attempt to make Egypt Thirsty through the construction of
the Renaissance Dam. The full interview follows:
■ How do you see the relations between Egypt and Eritrea?
The relations between the two countries are in good shape, since the time of the late President Gamal
Abdel Nasser. They are deep strategic and historical relations. Egypt has helped Eritrea in the time of
its armed struggle to gain independence, and it provided us with arms, financial, and political support.
It also helped our students and established a home for them. And it opened its colleges and universities
for them.
■ You talked about Egypt s support to Eritrea during the era of President Abdel Nasser. What about the
relations between the two countries under President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi?
The common factor between Nasser and Al Sisi is that they have an honest approach towards Africa,
but there are differences in the political conditions and factors in the region between the eras of the
two presidents. During the era of Nasser, the revolutionary tide, liberation movements and pan Arab
nationalism

395 396). Another strength was having open questions for the client to answer from what feedback
was received, in order to engage with the exploration skills of counselling (Kottler Shepard, 2015, p.
59). Open questions are very important to the exploration and overall process of working through
issues as well as building the relationship between client and counsellor, this approach links to the use
of OARS which stands for open ended questions, affirmation, reflective listening of content, feelings,
emotions and summarizing (Klonek Kauffeld, 2015, p. 118). OARS as an open ended technique of
questioning client issues is very important as one of the main techniques of counselling is to make a
quality of openness for the client, so they can express themselves without feeling restricted (Lee Prior,
2013, p. 101). The next positive point on the roleplay was the use of empathic responses which were
well conveyed by the counsellor on a median of good to very good. Empathy is the process in which
to try and understand issues from the client s perspective that could identify underlying emotions,
feelings or issues (Kottler Shepard, 2015, p. 91). During the roleplay, there was a good reflection on
content and paraphrasing. By reflecting on

Nursing Quality Indicators Abstract The National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators were published in an effort to build on previously collected quality data and further develop nursing knowledge to provide best practice nursing care. This paper explores eight scholarly articles that report on the relationship between hand hygiene compliance and the nursing sensitive indicator of nosocomial infections. These items will be reviewed; a needs assessment, high reliability standards, just culture principals, quality improvement implications, a plan for future action using the Plan Do Study Act model, and summarization of ethical implications. This aligns with the model of Plan Do Study Act. It is crucial to understand what we are trying to accomplish, how we will know that a change is an improvement, and what changes can be made that will actually result in improvement. Prevention strategies of nosocomial infections related to poor hand hygiene include revision of: orientation, training processes, competency assessments, equipment cleaning, handwashing procedures, switching to the use of single use IV flush vials, adding strategically located waterless hand rubs, defining supervisory expectations, conducting in services, team trainings, and tracking systems (Infection control related sentinel events, 2003). Potential solutions to noncompliance include: consistent skin protectant application, reduced time required for handwashing, and antiseptic stations at the bedside and room entry points (Boyce, 1999). Hospital administrators must create an organizational atmosphere in which adherence to recommended HH practices are considered an integral part of providing high quality care (Boyce, 1999). • 4. The Ethical Use Of Animals In Ancient Chinese Art Animals have been used in artwork all throughout history in order to demonstrate how a culture progressed, and helped give meaning to certain creatures. These beasts have always been in artwork since cave paintings, and were praised as gods in a wide range of cultures. At times they were worshipped as deities themselves or just under the ranking of one. Chinese and Indian artwork, both use animals in their own respected ways, and show different organisms with their own power and metaphoric meaning. Animals in both cultures share similar ideals of status and power, while also teaching citizens at how their civilization worked. Both countries depicted beasts and mythical creatures in their own style, which was either more natural or abstract, and their contrasts can be seen in how the people used the carving, and where it was installed. ... Indian artwork, mostly used larger mammals, such as boars, lions, and elephants in their sculptures because people recognized the iconography of these creatures, and used that to their advantage to spread knowledge of Buddhism and Hinduism. China with its horses, and other abstract mythical creatures were used in royal tombs for when they went to the next life. They were used more as a status symbol, since horses were only for citizens in the military and nobility. Through the use of different art styles and the intent of the artwork, Chinese and Indian art of animals suggests that while these pieces were used for what religion and morals the people believed in, they were used for different reasons, which gave them different cultural ... Because more carbon dioxide is being put into the air, there is more absorption by the atmosphere and more reflection back to the surface, so the surface is getting warmer. Now, what actions are resulting in the expansion of the greenhouse effect? Two main causes are burning fossil fuels and driving our cars. According to a NASA earth observatory web page, fossil fuel burning (coal, oil and gas) releases about 6 billion metric tons per year. On the EPA web site, it is stated that most of the emissions of greenhouse gases, about 82%, are from burning fossil fuels to generate electricity and power our cars. As I said before, driving our cars also is a large cause. For example, Ecobridge states that Twenty percent of U.S. carbon dioxide emissions comes from the burning of gasoline in internal combustion engines of cars and light trucks. So a fair amount of the emissions is from driving your car. Deforestation, the cutting and burning of a forest, also increases the amount of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. A NASA page says that when a forest is cut and burned to establish cropland and pastures, the carbon that was stored in the tree trunks (wood is about 50% carbon) joins with oxygen and is released into the atmosphere as CO2. • 7. My Love Of Math As A Career In Math When I sit down to think about critical events in my K 12 experiences, my first thought goes to when I changed schools. I switched from a private school, to a public school between my 3rd and 4th grade years. Once I switched schools, I realized how much more advanced I was in mathematics as compared to my peers. Because I am such a competitive person, I was immediately drawn to the things that I was best at, because then I can win . Before I changed schools, I knew that I enjoyed math, but this realization is really what cemented my love of math. So, for this reason, the majority of my life, I ve known that I wanted to do something related to math. These feelings only intensified as I got older and into classes like Algebra and Pre Calculus. For me, when I was faced with a math problem, it was like a puzzle. I knew there was an answer and I had faith in myself that I could find the answer if I kept trying hard enough. I enjoyed sitting down, and working on a problem, because it was so rewarding and exciting when I figured out the answer. Despite knowing that I wanted to do something math related for so long, I never had any idea what specific career within the mathematics field that I wanted to pursue. Most of the mathematics careers that I looked into sounded really boring to my early teens self. The only one that somewhat caught my attention was teaching. In addition to that, my Geometry teacher, who I also had for Algebra II the next year, was an amazing teacher who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Warren Susman [1] From a critic s point of view, what is there not to scrutinize when a white, Jewish filmmaker is responsible for a historical film about African Americans during the Civil War? One which happens to have a brave young Boston Brahmin as the supposed leader of a colored battalion? Surely he does not have the license to create a film based on a heritage with which he has no affinity. Director Ed Zwick was apprehensive with the task and struggled with his entitlement to create such a film. I was afraid initially that a young, white, liberal, Jewish director would be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The critic does point out that Glory is by no means flawless, citing historical discrepancies; nevertheless, a sound approval is given. [3] From a supportive angle, Morgan Freeman, an academy award nominee black actor, fully backs every aspect of the project. Freeman was not only ecstatic about the idea for the film, but he also defended Zwick and screenwriter Kevin Jarre from criticisms about the film s alleged whiteness. In rebuttal to a charge by Roger Ebert that Glory concentrates too much on the white point of view, Freeman claimed: I don t have a problem with that. You cannot reasonably ask a white writer to do it differently. Now, if we re going to start citing some unfortunates, it might be unfortunate that a black writer didn t write it, but if a black writer had written it, there s a good chance he wouldn t have found a producer. So there you are. This is a movie that did get made, and a story did get told, and that s what is important. Reportedly, Freeman was so adamant about the film s script that he approached Zwick in the auditioning stages, pleading, Whatever you want, you ve got me. Moreover, he and co star Denzel Washington (1989, Best Supporting Actor, Glory) took significant pay cuts to make the film a success for the sake of art and history. [4] James W. Bangladesh stock market seems to be extremely volatile; the price fluctuations of this market are so high. Hansberry s play captures how Chicago (and America in general) was around the 1950 s; although Chicago claimed to be anti racist, Hansberry shows what life was like for black families in that day and age. It also has elements from her own life in it, making it a more realistic story. Hansberry used many techniques to create a build up of tension until Karl Lindner came out with what he had to say, which was racially prejudiced and very discriminatory towards the family. This was the turning point in the play where everything they worked for was starting to go wrong. A way tension was built was by the way in which Lindner was treated in the beginning. ... By this he meant violence directed toward the Black families that moved into white neighbourhoods this could also be a masked threat towards the family. Overview The study, Reconstruction of Automobile Destruction undertaken by Loftus Palmer in 1974 consisted of two experiments, these experiments were completed in order to test their hypothesis that the way in which a question about an eyewitness testimony was asked can change the recollection of events perceived by the witness . The study served to aid the argument that memory can be altered and distorted when they subject is presented with new information that is given prior to the event. In order to test their hypothesis, Loftus Palmer conducted two laboratory experiments; both experiments took the design of an independent measures. Mahfouz uses various settings throughout the novel in order to showcase the development of Hamida s rebellious character. The different settings come together to deliver the important message of Hamida s literal and metaphoric entrapment, loss of her identity, and the development of her rebelliousness. Since the novel takes place during WWII in the 1940s, it brings about the idea of modernization due to the colonization of the British, which shows that the setting plays a major role in portraying Hamida as a rebellious character. The alley is also said to live in complete isolation from all surrounding activity (Mahfouz,1) indicating that it is entirely bounded and all activity that happens in it is restricted to only the people of the alley showing how the topographical trap also relates to the social entrapment that the alley is facing. With no reference to the outside world, the alley is bound to be a trap that no one, not even Hamida, can escape. The claustrophobic state of the alley reflects the oppression propagated by the alleys rejection to modern values. This is further shown by the description of the atmosphere of the alley when it is described to be veiled in the brown hues of the glow. (Mahfouz,1) the use of the color brown, indicating visual imagery, shows the negative claustrophobic, and gloomy atmosphere which runs through the alley. The color brown is a color between black and white, symbolizing negativity and positivity, respectively. However, the color black is more evident in the color brown, therefore symbolizing negativity of the alley as it was veiled with the brown hues meaning it was masked with gloominess and pessimism. Lincoln makes the point that everything one does should be a reflection of character to produce a transparency between who one is viewed as by friends and family, and who they truly are. As one moves along in life, their reputation fluctuates, how their reputation results will assist in determining the success they exhibited in life. What do you do? Even though the answer should be simple one will concern themselves with adding titles or an explanation in an attempt to say I am successful or to ensure their importance to the community. • 24. Women Seeing the World through a Different Lens in Three... At the time Virginia Woolf wrote The Years and Three Guineas, there were many differences between men and women, one of which was education. Most women were not educated, which prevented them from entering into agency. Women allowed themselves to be played by history. In order for them to change a world that was dominated by men, women needed to refuse what history said was their essence, and rather, use that essence to create critical ways of being in the world. The photograph, a crudely colored photograph of your world as it appears to us who see it from the threshold of the private house; through the shadow of the veil that St. Paul still lays upon your eyes; from the bridge which connects the private house with the world of ... They were dependent on their fathers or husbands income, which prevented them from freedom. Although women did not work as judges, lawyers, or any other job in the public world, they worked at home. Women were wives, mothers, and daughters, and without them, the state would collapse and fall to pieces, without whose work your sons, Sir, would cease to exist, (Three Guineas 54). Although this was unjust, men were not entirely at fault. Married men got paid twice that of a bachelor. Half of men s salary belonged to their wives, but women had little access to their husband s salary. We may assume that the wife of an educated man has as much money to spend, (Three Guineas 55). Then why, didn t women spend that money on pleasures that she enjoyed? Because men made the money, women allowed them to decide how it should be spent. She lays out thousands and thousands of pounds upon clubs to which her own sex in not admitted; upon racecourses where she may not ride; upon colleges from which her own sex is excluded. She pays a huge bill annually for wine which she does not drink and for cigars which she does not smoke, (Three Guineas 56). Once all of the bills were paid, women should have spent their share on causes that were important to them, on something that would benefit their own well being, such as education. Panera Bread Company will need to make sure that it implements a strategic strategy that separates itself from its competitors and provides a supreme food quality and dining experience. TO: Ron Saich FROM: Subject 3 5 Year Plan Recommendation 1: Expand the Panera Brand both Nationally amp; Globally Panera Bread Company is not reaching its full potential when it comes to their need to expand into new unchartered markets. By expanding both nationally and globally they will be able to more readily compete with the likes of a Starbucks who has over 17,000 stores across the globe. Panera needs to become the place that people want to get their coffee and baked goods from, an area that Starbucks currently rules in the market place. Panera also does not have any global presence, by utilizing different continents such as Europe and Asia they should be able to bring their brand from a more local/national brand to a more global one, increasing revenue along the way. In doing this they should begin testing new menu items that would attract customers of different cultures. Recommendation 2: Expanding the Current Menu Panera Bread Company should open itself up to the idea of serving alcohol at each and every one of its stores. • 26. Loneliness Is Not Good For The Man Of all the fantasies that human beings entertain, the idea that we can go it alone is the most absurd and perhaps the most dangerous. We stand together or we fall apart. George Monbiot Did you know the physical effects of loneliness are comparable to smoking 15 cigarettes a day? Loneliness raises your chance of death by 26%. While we known intuitively that loneliness is harmful, science is beginning to show just how harmful. At the very beginning of the Bible, God declares, It is not good for the man to be alone. And yet, in our western society we constantly seek after individualism. We think that somehow we ll be able to achieve what we want on our own. The drive to go it alone is deeply rooted in our culture and we re seeing the effects of what we ve sown. Mental illness is on the rise. One in four women between 16 and 24 have harmed themselves, another 26% of these women are also affected by anxiety, depression, phobias or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. While depression and loneliness are at an all time high, we need leaders to rise up and blah blah blah In The Prince, the world Machiavelli lays out for a leader is a lonely one. The better to be feared than loved principle is an idea that stifles community and isolates a leader. The story of Esther, however, proposes a different view of leadership, one in which community is of high value. While Esther s courage was certainly heroic, it would not have been possible without the support of her community, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I think that drug testing for athletes should be required because athletic students should be held to higher standards because they represent their school in many ways. Another reason that we should drug test athletic students is that the student may need serious and we can get them that. First of all athletic students should be held to higher standards. • 31. Supernatural Aid In Campbell s A Once And Future King Like the training wheels on a child s bike, help is given in order to make the new rider stronger and better able to control the dynamics of a newly discovered notion. In Campbell s eyes, the same concept correlates with the help given to a hero. This help making them wiser, stronger and better able to face the challenges offered by adventure. The help may include the distribution of maps, weapons, or something more mythical, some sort of supernatural aid. This aid, according to Campbell, is always in the form of a mentor, a wise, old prune that completes the tasks of foreseeing the hero to victory. Merlyn, in the story A Once and Future King, better adheres to Campbell s vision regarding the magical guide in the heroic journey. The concept of a magical guide or supernatural aid informs the audience of unworldly guidance that follows after the acceptance of The Call to Adventure . The texts A Once and Future King and Le Morte d Arthur both exemplify an entity, Merlyn, that invades the life of a hero, Arthur, as an aid in order to guide him to victory regarding his journey and adventure. Heroes are often began on their trip by a character who has aced the laws of the outside world and returns to offer wisdom and experience. This otherworldly character or magical guide regularly gives the hero the way to conquer the adventure. As a less than dependable rule the blessing is just insight. In each occurrence it is something the hero needs to succeed. As Campbell says, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Open questions are very important to the exploration and overall process of working through issues as well as building the relationship between client and counsellor, this approach links to the use of OARS which stands for open ended questions, affirmation, reflective listening of content, feelings, emotions and summarizing (Klonek Kauffeld, 2015, p. 118). OARS as an open ended technique of questioning client issues is very important as one of the main techniques of counselling is to make a quality of openness for the client, so they can express themselves without feeling restricted (Lee Prior, 2013, p. 101). The next positive point on the roleplay was the use of empathic responses which were well conveyed by the counsellor on a median of good to very good.
