The Roots Of Lean Manufacturing
Production managers are faced with many challenges within their facilities such as managing
inventories, controlling waste, and managing an ever changing production schedule. Managing
product flows can be difficult when balancing supply chain inventories with demand changes or
scheduling problems due to throughput variations. Several methods for managing these challenges
have been developed through the years and each have their own advantages and disadvantages for
different applications. The methods discussed in this paper will be limited to the Theory of
Constraints, Just in Time, and Material Requirements Planning. All three methods are designed to
manage different aspects of a manufacturing facility s product flow but all three were ultimately
developed as an optimization strategy for the manufacturing process. The roots of Lean Manufacturing
is one of the earliest management strategies to be developed to address the challenges for production
control and may well have been the birth of strategic production control as we know it today.
LEAN MANUFACTURING
At the end of the 18th century Benjamin Franklin wrote about reducing waste in Poor Richard s
Almanac and this may very well have been the starting point for waste reduction thinking. At the
beginning of the 20th century Henry Ford was the first person to truly integrate a production process
with waste reduction, inventory control, and time management in mind. This paved the way for Lean
Manufacturing strategies to

Cindy (Pseudonym) Is An Eight-Year-Old African-American
Cindy (pseudonym) is an eight year old African American female who is in 3rd grade and has attended
the after school program since May 2016 at Hope Gardens Community Center (HG) in Brooklyn,
New York. HG provides after school programs for pre K to high school students. Cindy appears to be
slightly shorter and skinnier than her peers and always wears a neatly maintained school uniform.
When the intern initially met Cindy, she was quiet but expressed her opinions lucidly. The after school
program teacher referred Cindy to art therapy due to her self harm ideations and attempts. It is
reported that she verbalized a desire to disappear and wished she did not exist. She scratched her arm
to harm herself and threatened to smash her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cindy asks her mother about her father on holidays, such as if he is coming or not. Cindy s mother
does not have a new partner and is very protective of her daughter. Her mother stopped working so she
can be present and support her daughter. They currently receive Food Stamps, which provides food
assistance for low income New Yorkers in supplementing the cost of their diet with nutritious foods.
Her mother is very invested in supporting and finding support services for her daughter. Cindy
recently lost her dog and cat; she mentioned that her mother gave them away and did not know the
reason. The art therapy session is held every Tuesday at a small space in the gym. When the intern
picked her up from her class, she did not look the intern and walked fast to the art therapy room. At
the room, she stated that she had a worst day at everywhere. The intern checked in with her, but she
did not share in detail. A sample of a doll and art materials were provided. Cindy asked the intern if
she can take it to home, and the intern reminded her the rules. She did not respond and began to make
the doll without words. Cindy appeared to be unmotivated to do art but followed the direction. In the
process, Cindy required an assistance of the intern because of her clumsy hand movement. While the
intern helped her, she expressed the feeling of frustration. She often mentioned you do it... you are

Disruption Of The Body s Circadian Clock
The circadian clock in humans has influence over many processes in the body. The most prevalent of
those arguably is its determination of our sleep and wake cycles (Joseph et al. 2008). Sufficient sleep
is an essential part of human health and a lack of sleep can have severe repercussions on the human
body and mind (Hamet and Tremblay 2006). Disruption of the body s circadian cycle, by genetic
means, can cause: ineffective homeostasis of the sleep cycle, imbalances in the amounts of time spent
awake and asleep, and the timing of sleep s onset, all of which can contribute to dangerous sleep
related disorders (Hamet and Tremblay 2006). (Joseph et al. 2008) states that he circadian clock is
composed of a 24 hour cycle called a primary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The disorders discussed, FASPS, FFI, and narcolepsy, are examples of how single gene mutations can
completely off put the body s circadian rhythms (Borbley et al.1999; Joseph et al. 2008). Additionally,
these disorders support the main concept that the master of homeostatic balance in our body s sleep
cycle is the clock gene, and that even the smallest of changes on the molecular level can result in
significant changes in physiological out put (Hamet and Tremblay 2006). Complete human health is
reliant on sleep, and sleep is reliant on the clock

The Impeachment of Bill Clinton Essay
The Impeachment of Bill Clinton
The government of the United States controls countless affairs in the world. They control everything
from the currency to the court systems. Individuals are suppose to be able to trusting your government
system, which has not been the case in many different circumstances. From Richard Nixon to the
Whitewater scandal, the government has been everything but honest.
Furthermore President Bill Clinton has not been honest either. He was the youngest governor of
Arkansas and has been awarded with many different honors and still has misused his power. Bill
Clinton has obstructed justice, carried on an affair while in presidency, and abused his power in office.
He has also committed two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was reelected more than three times for the state of Arkansas (DeGregorio 2).
In 1992, William Clinton ran for President on the democratic ticket. His thoughts for the country were
to create many jobs, lower taxes for the middle class, and help national health insurance. Although
many people attacked him about an incident when he evaded military service and then tried to cover it
up, he won the run and choose Senator Al Gore as his vice president. He beat Republican Bush and
Independent party Perot. President Clinton would be reelected again and he would have many issues
while in his last term (DeGregorio 3).
Clinton s first problem occurred in 1994, when Paula Jones claimed that Bill Clinton propositioned
her and exposed himself to her while he was governor of Arkansas. Clinton denied everything from
the beginning. In 1997, Clinton offered $700,000 to settle the case, but Jones only wanted an apology.
If Clinton did not do anything wrong, then why would he pay a hefty fine to dismiss the case? April
first of this year, the Jones case was dropped, but was reopened in November. Jones came out with a
recorded $800,000 settlement (Froomkin 1).
The worries did not stop at the Jones case though. In 1995, Clinton allegedly started to have an affair
with one of his interns, Monica Lewinsky who was 21 years old at the time. No one

Q1 How can teachers use newsletters to encourage parental involvement?
By offering a variety of options for parental involvement (NQS PLP, 2012), teachers provide parents
with freedom of choice.
By informing parents of the ways in which they may be able to assist (Fellowes, 2010), paired with
flexible commitment offers, teachers are setting a comfortable and casual scene for parents to become
involved in their child s learning.
As Fellowes (2010) suggests, it is important for teachers to share their knowledge and experience with
parents.
By providing some insight into the daily teaching methods, teachers are using newsletters to invite
parents into the classroom. Equipping parents with the information they require to deepen their
knowledge and assist in making them feel confident in their involvement.
The combination of teaching strategies and resources (Fellowes, 2010) for home use provided in the
newsletter equip parents with a sound knowledge base, empowering them to become involved.
Q2 What kind of language style did you use to make families feel welcome? Plain, polite language
paired with clear, straightforward information presented in a simple format is used to set a warm and
welcoming scene. (Anne Arundel Country Public School, n.d.).

Taking a Look at the Original Sin
Original Sin In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth ex nihilo (out of nothing). After
God created the earth he made the adam out of the dust of the earth and by breathing into his nostrils
made the man living. Everything God created was Good, the man was also good but only with woman
was man complete. God created woman from the rib of Adam. Both Adam and his partner Eve were
both placed in the Garden of Eden where they were to live and eat from, everything in the Garden
except from the Tree of Knowledge, Good, and Evil. However one day a serpent came to Eve and
asked made her question the command of not eating from the tree. The serpent told her that she could
have knowledge and become like God if she ate from the tree. Both Adam and Eve ate from the tree
and disobeyed God s divine command. God in turn cursed the serpent as well as Adam and Eve. He
told Adam that he would struggle and toil with the land and also that he will return to the dust just as
he was created from it. God had to punish Adam and Eve for the disobedient act from where human
corruption became apparent. After a British monk named Pelagius fled Italy in 409 to escape an
invasion and moved to Carthridge in North America, a clash between this monk and Saint Augustine
became inevitable. Both of these men who were teachers and involved with the church had two
completely opposite and opposing doctrines that were bound to class. This inevitable debate finally
occurred in what is known as the

Unnatural Causes Video Analysis
The promotion of health is vastly switching into exposing what could be America s racist health care
system. People have reason to believe that there are different health care for each race, gender, class,
and sexuality. In A Conceptual Framework For Understanding Race, Class, Gender, and Sexuality, by
Lynn Weber, there is a suggestion of power relationships playing a role in different health care.
Different health care is dictated by hierarchies determining who gets what kind of health care. Two
positions are head to head with each other, There are power hierarchies in which one group exerts
control over another, securing its position of dominance in the system, and in which substantial
material and nonmaterial resources such as wealth, income, or access to health care and education are
at stake (Weber, 20). An example of this is the Flint, Michigan water crisis. Flint, Michigan has pipes
that do not produce healthy, nutritious water for residents, but instead gives out lead poisoned water.

This was a quote from the Unnatural Causes video that bares the state that our country is voluntarily
in. Health inequities are ranking our country lower in health care. This video brings up the theory of if
our country is confirming these inequities to purposefully be present. The people of Flint are living
under unfair living conditions that influence their way of living. Since the Flint community is poor and
not a part of the majority race, officials will not be in much of a hurry to resolve the issue. The author
of the article argues, That these communities were chosen to be made more vulnerable to air and water
pollution was no accident, their objections to being poisoned were far less politically salient to
policymakers than the objections of wealthier, whiter communities (Fuentes George). Race factors in

Donna Tartt s The Secret History
The Secret History Theme: The Effect That Choices/Tragedy Has
Donna Tartt s novel expresses the idea that the choices made in our youth will have an impact on our
later lives, be it a few images that create a shadowy presence in the mind of a person throughout their
life, or a completely alternated series of life events. This novel provides the reader with excellent
examples of how negative life events and choices can alter our thoughts and personalities for better or
worse. All five major characters in this novel undergo some degree of change as they struggle to
accept the true weight of their actions.
To illustrate this idea, the character of Charles Macaulay experiences possibly the most prominent
change over the course of this novel. In the early stages of the narrative, Charles is friendly, caring and
mild. He gets along well with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Richard confronts Henry later in the novel, after the death of Bunny, Henry tells him, ... My

did. But then it changed, the night I killed that man . He went on to tell Richard that It enabled me to
do what I ve always wanted most; to live without thinking . After the first murder, Henry became even
more rational than he was previously, spending a great portion of his time planning out how to get
away and how to deal with Bunny. It is difficult to map out Henry s change in character as from the
start he came across as listless and emotionally unresponsive but he markedly became even more
strange and reclusive toward the end. This is shown by his elusive behaviour during the time Richard
tried to get answers out of him in chapter 8, when he talked about the mundane as if nothing was

Maslow s Hierarchy Of Needs Theory
Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs Theory in Organizational Diversity
Psychologist Abraham Maslow established a theory of motivation to justify how people in diverse
organizations behave. His human requirements theory states that humans are never completely
satisfied; that they crave satisfaction and those requirements can be classified into a hierarchy based
upon importance. The lowest level of importance includes peoples desire to satisfy their physical
needs, such as hunger and thirst. Following the lowest level, individuals need basic security and
stability. After physical and safety needs are satisfied, individuals have the desire to gain acceptance
into a group and to establish meaningful relationships. Once this need is somewhat fulfilled, one will
strive for self confidence and personal achievement. Lastly, an individual must realize their potential
or they will become dissatisfied and discontent. This theory assists managers to motivate subordinates
in a diverse workplace by ensuring low level needs are met first. Then, management will be able to
pursue supervising employees as they complete more multifaceted tasks. An effective manager
influences employees positively by creating a safe work environment, providing the necessary tools
and resources and involving employees in decision making processes (Maslow, 1943, 1954).
Maslow s hierarchy of needs theory has particularly created a glass ceiling in art museum curating by
hindering individuals personal achievements,

The Id, Ego and Superego Shown in Frankenstein and Dr....
Frankenstein: the Modern Prometheus by Mary Shelley and The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr.
Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson both show Freud s ideas of Id, Ego and Superego as well as of innate
desire. Frankenstein: the Modern Prometheus shows Freud s stages of psychosexual development.
Collectively both novels should be considered Freudian through these ideas. Jekyll and Hyde works as
a symbolic portrayal of the goodness and evil that resides in equal measure within the soul of a man. It
pre empted Freudian psychoanalysis by twenty five years and yet is similar to some of his theories. In
Frankenstein both the monster and Victor exemplify Freud s developmental stages.

It is all at an end. And indeed he does not want my help; you do not know him as I do; he is safe, he is
quite safe; mark my words, he will never more be heard of (Stevenson 66).
Despite saying this Jekyll still succumbs to his Id and Hyde is drawn out again. Jekyll knows of the
evil that comes out when he transforms into Hyde. Jekyll says This, as I take it, was because all
human beings, as we meet them are commingled out of good and evil: and Edward Hyde alone in the
ranks of mankind, was pure evil (Stevenson 108). Here Jekyll clearly states that he knows Hyde is evil
yet he still cannot overpower his Id and then his Superego is overcome. By turning into Hyde, Jekyll
feels free and can do whatever he wants without the slightest hesitation. Following his innate desires
Hyde murders Sir Danvers Carew and tramples a young girl. These actions are done through the Id
and even though Jekyll is civilized law abiding man once the Id has taken over and he transforms into
Hyde, his dark side is unleashed. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde are but one; one body but two conflicting
characters, the good and evil. In Frankenstein: the Modern Prometheus we see the monster as the
outward expression of Victor s Id or his demoniacal passions. Freud believed that personality develops
through a series of childhood stages during which the pleasure seeking energies of the id become
focused on certain behaviors. These childhood stages are known as the psycosexual developmental
stages.

House Of Sand And Fog Book Analysis
The Differences Between House of Sand and Fog Book and Movie Books can be extremely detailed
and pictures are painted for the reader by words. Sometimes directors try to transfer these books into
movies. This is a very hard process as words written in a book cannot always be performed in a
reasonable amount of time for a movie. These movies often sell the book short and there are
differences, sometimes major changes between the book and movie. In the novel, House of Sand and
Fog, the plot revolves around three characters. Behrani, an Iranian colonel following the Iranian
Revolution. Behrani ends up working as a garbage collector and as a clerk in a convenience store

In the novel, one can see the characters from many different perspectives. In the book the writer
reveals much about Lester s life by highlighting his childhood experiences where his father abandoned
him as a teenager. The book also mentions how Lester was bullied in his childhood just to paint a
picture on what could have caused Lester to be the person he is in adulthood. When one reads the
book he can tell a lot about the characters as more information about their background is revealed.
Behrani s background as a military principal and financial prowess is revealed much in the book,
showing reasons behind his quest for success just to reclaim his lost mighty. Perelman s movie on the
other hand minimizes the novel by removing several scenes as portrayed in the novel. The movie
briefly mentions the issue of Lester being abandoned by his father but there is not much detail about
his childhood. The movie also changes a number of scenes on the plot of the story. For instance in the
last scene of the book, Behrani finds Kathy in his home following the death of his son. He then tries to
strangle her to death before taking his wife s life along with his own. Kathy and Lester are arrested. In
the movie s final scene, Kathy finds both Behrani

The Case Law Has Established A Formal And Sufficiency Test

Arvind, his partner Stephanie as well as their two children under EU law. In order to do this each of
them will be discussed below. Arvind Article 20 TFEU states that every person holding the nationality
of a member state shall be a citizen of the union. In addition Article 21 further provides for the rights
of citizens to move freely within any member state subject to conditions and limitations. Arvind being
a British national under the above provisions automatically becomes an EU citizen and for the purpose

is further found in case law. The case law has established a formal and sufficiency test The sufficiency
test is based on the nature and quality of the work such that a person can be regarded as engaged in
effective and genuine work . This was illustrated in Levin. The formal test is set in Lawrie Blum.

Evaluation Of Fungicides And Application Timing On Control...
Introduction The blackleg fungus is a major disease of canola and can cause significant losses. An
experiment to evaluate fungicides effect on blackleg was conducted by J.P. Damicone et. al. entitled
Evaluation of fungicides and application timing on control of black leg of winter canola, 2015 at
Oklahoma State University. This study involved evaluation of two fungicides, Proline and Approach,
applied at different times throughout the growing season to gauge their efficacy controlling blackleg.
Blackleg
Black Leg of Canola Blackleg of canola is a disease that affects canola (Brassica napus) and other
Brassica spp. with the causal agent being a fungus, Leptosphaeria maculans (anamorph= Phoma
lingam). Canola is one of many cruciferous crops that is attacked by blackleg disease and losses from
the disease have been documented for over a century with the disease occurring in every production
area around the world (History occurrence impact, pg. 1).
Symptoms for blackleg include lesions, necrosis, stem cankers, shriveled seeds, premature ripening,
and lodging. When seedlings first emerge they can be killed in a manner similar to damping off, but if
the seedlings develop past emergence, lesions can develop on both the cotyledons and leaves with a
grayish appearance (History occurrence impact, pg. 1). As the crops get larger, stem lesions called
cankers develop and can restrict water flow causing premature ripening and shriveled seeds (History
occurrence impact, pg. 1). If

The Representation Of Macbeth In William Shakespeare s Play
Anokhi Ladhani
The deepest darkest corners of man s heart is filled with greed, violence, and selfishness. This rules
every man s thoughts and actions. Whether they would like to admit it or not, there is a facade of
genuity, a charade of sincerity, and a parody of the good deeds done everyday. No one is one hundred
percent candid about what they are thinking, and that s what I saw in Macbeth in the play by William
Shakespeare. His appearance when he went to battle, his murderous actions against children and his
apparent disregard for his wife s death as shown in the film adaption, developed my understanding of
Macbeth s cynical representation.

Gospel Of Luke-Acts Essay
Luke s Gospel is known to be the last synoptic to be written. Since Luke introduced Acts, it is crucial
to date Acts before a date for Luke can be determined. Luke leaves the reader with Paul in Rome,
waiting to present his case before Caesar. Acts had been completed long before Paul s outcome was
known, this means that Acts came about in the early sixties with the Gospel of Luke being written in
the late fifties or early sixties. Luke Acts doesn t mention the destruction of Jerusalem, which is why
there are uncertainty of where Christianity fits in amongst the religions of the Roman Empire, and the
uncertainty of Jew Gentile relations at the same level as in Paul s epistles. Because of the location, it is

Bottleneck Theory
Principles of Inventory Management

Introduction
The purpose for this paper is to identify two principles of inventory management. An explanation on
how inventory management affects a businesses cash conversion cycle and cost of goods will be
covered. Next, supply chain components as they relate to the week four simulations will be discussed.
Lastly, an explanation of the bottleneck theory will be given along with two solutions on how to
resolve the bottleneck issue.

developing the food drug combination store format. Through subsequent mergers with American
Stores in 1989 and with Albertsons in 1999, Jewel Osco® maintained market leadership, accounting
for 40 percent of the supermarket business in the Chicago area (www.supervalu.com.)
The Bottleneck Theory
A simple definition of bottleneck could be an activity for which the work equals or exceeds the
capacity of the activity. For example, when company (a) places an order for raw materials from
company (b) who has a shortage on resources. And then companies (c, d, and f) order the same
material from company (b). There is what is called a bottleneck. This means that company (b) does
not have the resources to provide all companies with their orders. This is a problem for all parties the
supplier could potentially lose these customers as well as this profit. The buyers could lose their
customers and could effect the company s future business relations. Two solutions to prevent this
problem in the future could be an increase in resource shipping for example, doubling the norm of
shipping. Also, utilizing new options for shipping such as new ship

How Technology Has Changed The Way Users Work
ABSTRACT
Computing technology has changed the way users work, learn and play More businesses have gone
online. They have turned into a vital piece of our regular presence. These computer system are
vulnerable against various internal/external threats like malware in both homes business and
environments and this has rapidly escalated firmly over the past several years. Information in this
systems needs to be protected from intruders because it s an essential asset in the organisation. Three
basic important things need to be supplied is integrity confidentiality and availability of information.
The diversity of risk to the network computing by disenchanted attacks has intensely maximised
worldwide. This is according to the U.S federal bureau of investigation .The digital attacks globally
have reached 20,000 in January causing more than 8 billion dollars damage (Mueller, 2003).
Risk assessment simply means looking at each specific task and considering the best way to complete
it.This assists to be aware of the hazards involved in performing the task and something done to
prevent injury. To assess risk, one first need to identify the hazards (that is, tools, equipment s,
materials and work method); Secondly, to decide who might be harmed and how. In addition, evaluate
the risk and put measures to control the risk. Also, record the discovery and implement them and
finally analyse the evaluation and update as necessary.

War. Even though the income tax in 1862 was commonly a personal income tax, it added a tax on
corporations, including withholding and taxing certain corporate interest and dividends but pursued to
avoid double taxation. An 1885 pamphlet wrote [double corporate taxation] violate[s] the principles at
the foundation of all systems of taxation (Bloomfield 2011 p. 179). This attempt to raise money was
not successful and public debt continued to rise. In response, the 1864 tax act reduced income ceilings
and specifically included partnerships and corporations as taxable individuals. Afterwards, the
Revenue Act of 1913 formally distinguished personal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Educational Goals Research Paper
My educational goals are to use my time wisely, earn more scholarships, be part of student
government, and continue being the best that I can be. I want to maintain a 3.6 GPA or higher. I want
to prove to myself that education is important and that I know I can do it. Not only doing work, but I
am going to read more books and possibly stay away from the media because it is nothing but a waste
of time and I need to focus on my studies more. After all the time I have wasted, I actually regret the
time I could have been used for studying. In addition to my short term goals, I will build up my study
skills so that way I can do well on standardized exams such as entrance to colleges for the California

The Ethics Of Designer Babies
Clara Johnson Prof. Sara Clark English Composition Essay #4 The Ethics of Designer Babies As we
stand in the world today, we as humans have never been more technologically advanced or
scientifically intelligent. We have the ability to explore outer space and the depths of the oceans. We
are even in the process of developing organs using 3D printing technology. But there is a limit to the
extent of advancements that humankind can reach before some begin to pose dangers to humanity or
become unethical. Currently, technology is being developed to expand the procedure of in vitro
fertilization to genetically modify embryos. The products of this engineering are commonly known as
designer babies . This technology, when fully developed, would grant parents the opportunity to select
against possibly life threatening or altering conditions such as cystic fibrosis, schizophrenia and
Alzheimer s. Using this technology, parents would also be able to make extensive selections regarding
their baby s gender, physical characteristics, and possibly even personality traits and talents. While it
is positive advancement to be able to select against life threatening diseases, the creation of an a la
carte baby is unethical and crosses the line between positive sociological developments and immoral
manipulations of nature for many reasons. Genetic manipulation of reproductive cells for the purposes
of enhancing an offspring s physical traits, intelligence, or possibly personality traits or

Poetry Analysis for Sunshine by Matisyahu
Drury 1
Caitlan Drury
Poetry Analysis for Sunshine By Matisyahu Many songs use different literary devices to communicate
a message out to the audience. One of those songs is Sunshine by Matisyahu, which displays
symbolism, imagery, figures of speech, tone, and theme. Others might not enjoy the song because it
gives mixed signals. Although that is true, there are much more reasons to why someone would enjoy
it. Sunshine by Matisyahu is an effective song because the artist uses a potpourri of literary terms to
present his meaning to the audience. Matisyahu uses symbolism to define the deeper meaning of never
giving up in his song. In Sunshine , the artist says, You re my golden sunshine , which symbolizes the

in the artist s life and that he had lost what was important to him, but repeats the chorus after every

of the song is very significant because it shows the audience to never give up. Sunshine by Matisyahu
is a great song, although many people might not agree. Many people might not enjoy the song

it. What does This phase is always, sometimes I get so crazed mean? That verse starts the song and the
audience would not understand what is being said. What does the artist mean? Or maybe the chorus is
just repeated a bit too much, which makes the song annoying for the audience. Yes, these arguments

During the French Revolution, the official religion in France was Catholicism. Louis XVI decided to
take the 6 percent of land owned by the Catholic Church in France and grant it to the National
Assembly. The National Assembly created a Civil Constitution of France and, in 1790, passed a decree
saying members of the clergy had to swear an oath of fealty to the constitution or leave France. Only
seven clerics in all of France followed, The First Estate was eliminated from the country of France and
its property was seized. The Declaration of the Rights of Man also granted equal rights to those of

One of the most talked about shots in the picture is the eerie tracking sequence which follows Danny

Introduction
The tale of the human race and our connection to the ecosystem can be viewed as an unfolding
adventure shrouded in mysterious occurrences. The impacts of the overall climatic change have
signaled danger for a long time, and it is clear that there is a global crisis facing us. One would wonder
where we are headed and if the earth will be able to sustain life in the next century. Global warming

When carbon dioxide and other toxic gasses are released into the atmosphere, they become too
excessive for all the vegetation to absorb. Such conditions lead to the over accumulation of gasses that
form a layer called a greenhouse. The gasses create a greenhouse effect that prevents any heat from
escaping the earth (Taylor,881). This means that most of the heat being released from the earth s
center as well as that being absorbed from the sun is retained within the atmosphere. The trapped heat
has over time led to the rise in global temperatures which has subsequently had adverse effects on the
ecosystem. In essence, the small changes to a temperature that have occurred on a global scale over
time can lead to significant and human threatening changes in the global weather patterns. The
contemporary warmth has been exhibited by melting ice lands and glaciers as well as increased floods
and famines. Driving forces of this climatic change Scientists attribute a huge percentage of the gas
accumulation to the human activities using fossil fuels and whose operation leads to the release of
significant amounts of carbon dioxide and other toxic gasses into the air. The rate of temperature rise
since the industrial revolution shows a significant change of 38% due to the constant emission of toxic
gasses from human activity (Lonnie, 153).

Newborn Thrown In Trash And Dies Analysis
Despite the brief lifespan of the infantile and unnamed narrator of John Edgar Wideman s Newborn

Foraging Affects The American Culture
Foraging affects the American Culture because sometimes it is hard for them to be able to find food
for the families to be able to eat. Everyone has to work together as a family and help one another to be
able to survive with being able to find food for everyone. Some of the American Cultures have
different methods they that use in order to be able to find food. Foraging is a mode of livelihood base
on obtaining food that is available in nature methods such as gathering, hunting, fishing or scavenging
(Miller, 2013). Sometimes they do not have difficulties with finding food so a lot of times they will
just have to hunt for food. Fr example, they will collect different things from a nearby river such as
fish or and small species that they see that they can eat. The men are the ones that do most of the
hunting of the big animals because the big animals go a long way. In order for the American Cultures
they have to be prepared. They have to rely on a diverse set of tools used for gathering, transporting
and processing wild food (Miller, 2013). They need tools in order to be able to catch food so that they
are able to eat and so that they are able to plant things in the ground such as corn, potatoes, tomatoes,
and different kinds of fruits. When the American cultures are hunting, they have to make sure that they
have a lot of land. If they do not have a lot of land it will be hard for them to be able to hunt for food.

Strand Breaks
DNA Double Strand Breaks (DSBs) are valuable when controlled, but potentially fatal when not the
programmed DSB is an essential part of particular cellular processes (e.g. VDJ switch recombination
during immune system development and during homologous recombination in meiosis and mitosis),
but an unprogrammed DSB is also considered the most lethal type of lesion for a cell (Sedelnikova et
al., 2003). Cells are confronted with DNA damage due to a variety of stimuli under normal
physiological conditions and at each instance the cell must make a decision concerning the ratio of
DNA repair and apoptotic response (Cook et al., 2009). This response entails firstly the detection of
DNA damage among the undamaged DNA, and secondly a signal amplification ... Show more content

These structural rearrangements require the formation and repair of DSBs, and therefore great
amounts of γH2AX phosphoryliosis appears in adult germ cells (Blanko Rodriguez, 2009). In mouse
spermatocytes, an intense γH2AX signal appeared in leptotene nuclei and in sex chromosomes (in the
XY body formation) during pachytene (Mahadevaiah et al., 2001), in intermediate and B
spermatogonia, as well as in homogeneous nuclear staining in A spermatogonia and round spermatids
(Hamer et al., 2003). More recently, using techniques that disrupt the cell cell structure, the presence
of γH2AX foci was found in mouse metaphase spermatogonia (Forand et al., 2004) and was linked
with the lateral elements of the synaptonemal complex in the early pachytene stage in human oocytes
(Roig et al., 2004) but also in grasshopper and mouse spermatocytes (Chicheportiche et al., 2007). In
addition, γH2AX was also detected in elongating spermatids of these animals, where it is associated
with DSBs during chromatin remodeling (Cabrero et al., 2007). Blanko Rodriguez (2009) also showed
that H2AX phosphorylation hits the highest point at several mitotic and meiotic phases of

Problems Associated With Road Traffic Injuries
1.2. Problem Statement
In Makueni County a considerable burden of diseases is caused by injuries and other life threatening
emergencies. Over two hundred patients with road traffic injuries are received in the health facilities
for definitive treatment in a year as per the occurrence register at the County Ambulance Call Centre.
The accidents are mainly along the major roads such as Nairobi Mombasa highway, Makindu Wote
road and Wote Machakos roads. Although the patients who need emergency care are often handled by
the bystanders who come to their aid, some of the victims die on the scene of the accident while others
on transit to health facilities. Sometimes, the patients transferred to the health facilities cannot be
managed satisfactorily and about a quarter of them require secondary urgent transfer to other health
facilities either due lack of facilities or expertise. This often leads to a tremendous loss of time, waste
of resources, lack of effectiveness; hence aggravating the injuries sustained resulting to complications
or even death. The crash related complications often result to long hospital delays and hence exert
pressure on hospital facilities.
The research is therefore aimed at determining the status of pre hospital emergency care for persons
experiencing road traffic injuries and will in turn help to improve the quality of emergency medical
services, save life, avert disability and other complications resulting from these emergencies.

The Levels Of Processing Model Essay
The Levels Of Processing Model
The Levels OF Processing (LOP) Model is an alternative to the Multi Store (MS) Model. It does
appreciate the idea that both STM and LTM do exist however it does focus on the inter related
processes needed for memory. It looks at the way information is coded and how likely it is to be
remembered depending on the type of coding.
* The LOP model was based on a study by Craik Tulving (1875) who tested participants on
remembering 4 different types of information. These were called Levels of Processing. They claimed
that the level information is processed at, accounts for how likely it is to be remembered. The 4 levels
are as followed:
* · ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This uses deep semantic memory.
* According to Craik and Lockhart rehearsal was not as essential as LOP. They distinguished between
two types of LOP Simple Maintenance Rehearsal which simply holds information but does not
necessarily lead to the transfer into LTM as information is just memorised, and Elaborative Rehearsal
which involves some kind of analysis or evaluation of information. This type of rehearsal leads to
LTM. This is why it was found that the more complex the stage of processing was (Semantic) the
easier the sentence was to remember. E.g. the Deeper semantic test was remembered better than the
Shallow because it required more analysis and they were placed in an order in which the words linked
together and made sense.
* Bransford et al also found that a more distinct sentence would be remembered more because it
stands out. This was tested using a mosquito is like a racoon because they both have haired jaws and
legs and a mosquito is like a doctor because they both draw blood . Participants remembered the
second sentence better because it was humorous and this made it distinct.

The Roots Of Lean Manufacturing Production managers are faced with many challenges within their facilities such as managing inventories, controlling waste, and managing an ever changing production schedule. Managing product flows can be difficult when balancing supply chain inventories with demand changes or scheduling problems due to throughput variations. Several methods for managing these challenges have been developed through the years and each have their own advantages and disadvantages for different applications. The methods discussed in this paper will be limited to the Theory of Constraints, Just in Time, and Material Requirements Planning. All three methods are designed to manage different aspects of a manufacturing facility s product flow but all three were ultimately developed as an optimization strategy for the manufacturing process. The roots of Lean Manufacturing is one of the earliest management strategies to be developed to address the challenges for production control and may well have been the birth of strategic production control as we know it today. LEAN MANUFACTURING At the end of the 18th century Benjamin Franklin wrote about reducing waste in Poor Richard s Almanac and this may very well have been the starting point for waste reduction thinking. At the beginning of the 20th century Henry Ford was the first person to truly integrate a production process with waste reduction, inventory control, and time management in mind. This paved the way for Lean Manufacturing strategies to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Disruption Of The Body s Circadian Clock The circadian clock in humans has influence over many processes in the body. The most prevalent of those arguably is its determination of our sleep and wake cycles (Joseph et al. 2008). Sufficient sleep is an essential part of human health and a lack of sleep can have severe repercussions on the human body and mind (Hamet and Tremblay 2006). Disruption of the body s circadian cycle, by genetic means, can cause: ineffective homeostasis of the sleep cycle, imbalances in the amounts of time spent awake and asleep, and the timing of sleep s onset, all of which can contribute to dangerous sleep related disorders (Hamet and Tremblay 2006). He was reelected more than three times for the state of Arkansas (DeGregorio 2). In 1992, William Clinton ran for President on the democratic ticket. His thoughts for the country were to create many jobs, lower taxes for the middle class, and help national health insurance. Although many people attacked him about an incident when he evaded military service and then tried to cover it up, he won the run and choose Senator Al Gore as his vice president. He beat Republican Bush and Independent party Perot. President Clinton would be reelected again and he would have many issues while in his last term (DeGregorio 3). Clinton s first problem occurred in 1994, when Paula Jones claimed that Bill Clinton propositioned her and exposed himself to her while he was governor of Arkansas. Clinton denied everything from the beginning. In 1997, Clinton offered $700,000 to settle the case, but Jones only wanted an apology. • 6. Bsbwor501 Unit 4 Q1 How can teachers use newsletters to encourage parental involvement? By offering a variety of options for parental involvement (NQS PLP, 2012), teachers provide parents with freedom of choice. By informing parents of the ways in which they may be able to assist (Fellowes, 2010), paired with flexible commitment offers, teachers are setting a comfortable and casual scene for parents to become involved in their child s learning. As Fellowes (2010) suggests, it is important for teachers to share their knowledge and experience with parents. By providing some insight into the daily teaching methods, teachers are using newsletters to invite parents into the classroom. Equipping parents with the information they require to deepen their knowledge and assist in making them feel confident in their involvement. The combination of teaching strategies and resources (Fellowes, 2010) for home use provided in the newsletter equip parents with a sound knowledge base, empowering them to become involved. God had to punish Adam and Eve for the disobedient act from where human corruption became apparent. People have reason to believe that there are different health care for each race, gender, class, and sexuality. In A Conceptual Framework For Understanding Race, Class, Gender, and Sexuality, by Lynn Weber, there is a suggestion of power relationships playing a role in different health care. Different health care is dictated by hierarchies determining who gets what kind of health care. Two positions are head to head with each other, There are power hierarchies in which one group exerts control over another, securing its position of dominance in the system, and in which substantial material and nonmaterial resources such as wealth, income, or access to health care and education are at stake (Weber, 20). Donna Tartt s The Secret History The Secret History Theme: The Effect That Choices/Tragedy Has Donna Tartt s novel expresses the idea that the choices made in our youth will have an impact on our later lives, be it a few images that create a shadowy presence in the mind of a person throughout their life, or a completely alternated series of life events. This novel provides the reader with excellent examples of how negative life events and choices can alter our thoughts and personalities for better or worse. All five major characters in this novel undergo some degree of change as they struggle to accept the true weight of their actions. • 10. Maslow s Hierarchy Of Needs Theory Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs Theory in Organizational Diversity Psychologist Abraham Maslow established a theory of motivation to justify how people in diverse organizations behave. His human requirements theory states that humans are never completely satisfied; that they crave satisfaction and those requirements can be classified into a hierarchy based upon importance. The lowest level of importance includes peoples desire to satisfy their physical needs, such as hunger and thirst. Following the lowest level, individuals need basic security and stability. After physical and safety needs are satisfied, individuals have the desire to gain acceptance into a group and to establish meaningful relationships. Once this need is somewhat fulfilled, one will strive for self confidence and personal achievement. Lastly, an individual must realize their potential or they will become dissatisfied and discontent. This theory assists managers to motivate subordinates in a diverse workplace by ensuring low level needs are met first. Then, management will be able to pursue supervising employees as they complete more multifaceted tasks. An effective manager influences employees positively by creating a safe work environment, providing the necessary tools and resources and involving employees in decision making processes (Maslow, 1943, 1954). Jekyll says This, as I take it, was because all human beings, as we meet them are commingled out of good and evil: and Edward Hyde alone in the ranks of mankind, was pure evil (Stevenson 108). Along with the EPA, the Regional Optimization Master Plan (ROMP) is also involved in this program. ROMP is an important environmental factor because it is working towards better water quality, clarity, and an enhanced environment for wildlife. It has done this by upgrading the two main wastewater treatment plants that release to the Lower Santa Cruz River (Pima County Arizona, 2017c). ROMP has been successful with treating the wastewater and has been a very important contribute to making this water better for the environment and the community. On average, Pima County gets about 14 inches of rainfall and 285 sunny days per year (Sperling s BestPlaces, 2017a). The UV index being 6.5 is much higher than the average index in the United States which is 4.3 (Sperling s BestPlaces, 2017b). The inventor of the Steadicam, Garrett Brown was quoted saying that One of the most talked about shots in the picture is the eerie tracking sequence which follows Danny as he pedals at high speed through corridor after corridor on his plastic Big Wheel tricycle. The soundtrack explodes with noise when the wheel is on wooden flooring and is abruptly silent as it crosses over carpet. When carbon dioxide and other toxic gasses are released into the atmosphere, they become too excessive for all the vegetation to absorb. Such conditions lead to the over accumulation of gasses that form a layer called a greenhouse. The gasses create a greenhouse effect that prevents any heat from escaping the earth (Taylor,881). This means that most of the heat being released from the earth s center as well as that being absorbed from the sun is retained within the atmosphere. The trapped heat has over time led to the rise in global temperatures which has subsequently had adverse effects on the ecosystem. In essence, the small changes to a temperature that have occurred on a global scale over time can lead to significant and human threatening changes in the global weather patterns. The contemporary warmth has been exhibited by melting ice lands and glaciers as well as increased floods and famines. Driving forces of this climatic change Scientists attribute a huge percentage of the gas accumulation to the human activities using fossil fuels and whose operation leads to the release of significant amounts of carbon dioxide and other toxic gasses into the air. The rate of temperature rise since the industrial revolution shows a significant change of 38% due to the constant emission of toxic gasses from human activity (Lonnie, 153). ... Everyone has to work together as a family and help one another to be able to survive with being able to find food for everyone. Some of the American Cultures have different methods they that use in order to be able to find food. Foraging is a mode of livelihood base on obtaining food that is available in nature methods such as gathering, hunting, fishing or scavenging (Miller, 2013). Sometimes they do not have difficulties with finding food so a lot of times they will just have to hunt for food. Fr example, they will collect different things from a nearby river such as fish or and small species that they see that they can eat. They have to rely on a diverse set of tools used for gathering, transporting and processing wild food (Miller, 2013). They need tools in order to be able to catch food so that they are able to eat and so that they are able to plant things in the ground such as corn, potatoes, tomatoes, and different kinds of fruits. Strand Breaks DNA Double Strand Breaks (DSBs) are valuable when controlled, but potentially fatal when not the programmed DSB is an essential part of particular cellular processes (e.g. VDJ switch recombination during immune system development and during homologous recombination in meiosis and mitosis), but an unprogrammed DSB is also considered the most lethal type of lesion for a cell (Sedelnikova et al., 2003). Cells are confronted with DNA damage due to a variety of stimuli under normal physiological conditions and at each instance the cell must make a decision concerning the ratio of DNA repair and apoptotic response (Cook et al., 2009). Over two hundred patients with road traffic injuries are received in the health facilities for definitive treatment in a year as per the occurrence register at the County Ambulance Call Centre. The accidents are mainly along the major roads such as Nairobi Mombasa highway, Makindu Wote road and Wote Machakos roads. Although the patients who need emergency care are often handled by the bystanders who come to their aid, some of the victims die on the scene of the accident while others on transit to health facilities. Sometimes, the patients transferred to the health facilities cannot be managed satisfactorily and about a quarter of them require secondary urgent transfer to other health facilities either due lack of facilities or expertise. This often leads to a tremendous loss of time, waste of resources, lack of effectiveness; hence aggravating the injuries sustained resulting to complications or even death. The crash related complications often result to long hospital delays and hence exert pressure on hospital facilities. The research is therefore aimed at determining the status of pre hospital emergency care for persons experiencing road traffic injuries and will in turn help to improve the quality of emergency medical services, save life, avert disability and other complications resulting from these emergencies. 1.3. It does appreciate the idea that both STM and LTM do exist however it does focus on the inter related processes needed for memory. It looks at the way information is coded and how likely it is to be remembered depending on the type of coding. * The LOP model was based on a study by Craik Tulving (1875) who tested participants on remembering 4 different types of information. These were called Levels of Processing. They claimed that the level information is processed at, accounts for how likely it is to be remembered. The 4 levels are as followed: * · ... They distinguished between two types of LOP Simple Maintenance Rehearsal which simply holds information but does not necessarily lead to the transfer into LTM as information is just memorised, and Elaborative Rehearsal which involves some kind of analysis or evaluation of information. This type of rehearsal leads to LTM. This is why it was found that the more complex the stage of processing was (Semantic) the easier the sentence was to remember. E.g. the Deeper semantic test was remembered better than the Shallow because it required more analysis and they were placed in an order in which the words linked together and made sense. * Bransford et al also found that a more distinct sentence would be remembered more because it stands out. This was tested using a mosquito is like a racoon because they both have haired jaws and legs and a mosquito is like a doctor because they both draw blood . Participants remembered the second sentence better because it was humorous and this made it distinct. * Both types of studies show that LOP model does in fact focus on the inter related processes needed for memory ...
