The Problem Of The Homelessness
Every time I go to Bathurst Street in order to see my orthodontist, I always encounter those who are
on the street and less fortunate then I am. There is an estimated 5200 homeless living in the city. This
amount doesn t even take into account the hidden homeless that need long term housing.
Homelessness in the city of Toronto costs the provincial government approximately 30 billion dollars
a year. I have at times wondered why haven t we as a society taken the steps to end homelessness in
Toronto? I mean it s a very simple question that can be answered with economic reasoning. To put it
simply: it is unrealistic to end homelessness in Toronto. To help me reach this conclusion I went on a
couple of websites to do some research, as well as used some of the core economic principles to reach
my conclusion.
Several studies have found that it costs three to four times more to leave someone on the street than to
give them a home with support services. This is due to the tendency for those to go in and out of
shelters, the hospital bills for those with no money, as well as incarceration for violations such as
squeegeeing and panhandling. A reasonable person would look at this and say Instead of giving up 30
billion every year to fund the continuation of homelessness in the city, why not invest in affordable
public housing and shelters to decrease the amount of money you will spend? Homelessness in the
city continues for two reasons that I will discuss in this paper. The first

Colin Powell Analysis
Colin Luther Powell an American statesman and a retired four star general once uttered this quote
Surround yourself with people who take their work seriously, but not themselves, those who work
hard and play hard. It was in 10th grade when I first came across this quote and at that time it
completely changed my life. Throughout the first two years of high school, I was not concerned on my
education to say the least. I am ashamed to admit this, but I was more focused on fitting in with a
particular group of individuals then go to class and learn. This all changed when I read Colin Powell s
wise words; it struck me that the only reason on why I was not taking school seriously was because of
my so called friends. All throughout my scholastic year s teachers have always ... Show more content

To my astonishment, my new friends welcomed me with open arms, for the first time in my life I felt
this was the place where I belonged. The group thrived on each other s willingness to succeed. We
competed with each other, motivated each other and helped each other. Fast forward to graduation I
was ranked in the top 15 of the class, graduating with honors, and looking forward to attending a
college that gave me an academic scholarship. As I entered my first day of classes, my mind was
excited to absorb the new information I was about to learn and be with individuals who wanted to
accomplish as much as I did. However, my dreams were crushed as quickly as they started. In the
following months, I began to realize that students were not focused on taking advantages of these
opportunities. I shrugged it off thinking to myself it was their fault. The feeling of a fish out of the
water slowly crept back in; it seemed I was the only one that didn t find drinking excessively till
emergency services stepped in as fun. I tried to find a group of like minded students, but most did not

More than one out of five women will have some form of cardiovascular disease (Women s Heart

Heart disease claims the lives of more women than men each year, yet women only make up 25% of
participants in heart related research studies. While this is improving, women remain under
represented in many studies that have set the standard for detection and treatment of cardiovascular
disease. Even though valuable information about heart disease has been gathered, the model of
detecting cardiovascular disease has been based on and designed for men. Not all the data have been
applicable to women so this is hard to narrow down (Women s Heart Center, 2017) (Disparities in

William Wordsworth Research Paper
William Wordsworth Fill your paper with breathings of your heart. William Wordsworth was a poet
who not only inspired himself, but also inspired a number others. As some may know he was a son,
brother, and a father. But most importantly, he was a famous poet. He never once let his rough and
tragic lifetime get in the way of his creative writing.
II: Historical Information from Author s Time
William Wordsworth was a poet who wrote in the Romantic Era. The Romantic Era lasted
approximately fifty years. It is estimated that the era began around 1800, and ended in around 1850.

Only being three stanzas long, this poem became known as a favorite among many of the early readers

in the poem as a maid . He connected nature to the poem because he made a connection with nature at
an early age, and most likely thought as highly of her as he did nature. But everything changes when
you think hard about it. Wordsworth uses the word dwelt, and when thought about we would soon

Application Of A Computer Science
It is said that one third of all Internet users visit a site or application powered by Amazon Web Service.
As a developer leveraging the AWS, I had my fair share of questions. How secure is my critical data?
Is the system fault tolerant? How much control do I have over the infrastructure? How do the people
in Amazon overcome the technical challenge of maintaining such a massive infrastructure? These
questions kindled my curiosity in Cloud Computing. This curiosity has led me from hosting a static
website in S3 for fun, to working on creating full scale dynamic web applications that cater to
thousands of scientists on a daily basis. I have a passion for developing software applications and

I worked under the guidance of Mr. Tushar Sharma, Technical Expert. During this internship, my
primary responsibility was to build Augur, a software Change Impact Analysis (CIA) tool that helps in
predicting the impacts of a proposed change in a project during refactoring with the help of a Unified
Dependency Graph (UDG). The tool went beyond predicting data and control dependencies, taking
into account environmental and structural dependencies. The analysis did not depend on historical data
and was possible for different source code entities at all abstraction levels. The tool was tested by
some internal teams and received positive feedback and they appreciated its efficacy. The time I spent
working on this internship was invaluable in many ways. The numerous codebases I went through
understanding their underlying design, how they incurred technical debt, how it affected the
refactoring process and the overall code quality gave me a good understanding and a fresh perspective
about programming in the real world and laid a strong foundation for my software development
career. I learnt here the level of consistency and dedication required to get the desired results. As my

Why Should Women Earn Impartial Pay
The possibilities of dreams are endless, but no person can maximize the American Dream on the
minimum wage (Benjamin Todd Jealous). The unequal pay between men and women has persisted for
a while, and it is time that a law should be passed. If a colleague is working just as hard as a person in
that same position, they should not be paid less. A law for wage equality is needed because the hard
work of both men and women should be treated equally. Women who play as good as, or better than
men, earn an impartial pay based on their work. Even if men and women are both very good at the
same sport, being a women interferes with the pay value. For example, WNBA star Candace Parker
earns the league maximum of $111,500 per year. NBA star LeBron James makes $31 ... Show more

In last year s Western Southern Open in Mason, Ohio, for example, Roger Federer earned $731,000
for winning, while Serena Williams received $495,000 68 percent of Federer s prize for her victory the
same day (Stoffers). Although Serena Williams works very hard and wins a tennis championship, she
gets a dissimilar amount of money to congratulate her victory. Furthermore, as women move up in job
positions, the impartial pay value increases. In technology industries, the study found that female
technologists earn as much as men with comparable experience during their first five years of
experience (Pratt).
Although women start out with an equal pay, the more experience they have, the less money they earn
comparable to men. In addition, Lilly Ledbetter worked in the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in
Gadsden, Alabama, in 1979. Ledbetter s position is high on the experience ladder. But, as Ledbetter
was nearing retirement in 1998, an anonymous tipster left her a note detailing discrepancies between
her salary and those of three men in the same position (Gale Biography In Context). The Goodyear

Rise Of Islam Research Paper
Islam s Rise The Arabian Peninsula in the early seventh century was the perfect economical, political,
social and religious setting for the rise of Islam. Its successful emergence was due in part to the
adoption and rejection of various factors which allowed Islam to mirror the socioeconomic trends,
traditions, practices and religious theories that were prevalent throughout the region during this time
period. One of the most influential events on the rise of Islam was in the rise of Mecca as a center of
trade. Mecca s rise allowed people from various backgrounds to be exposed to and exchange ideas
about culture, tradition and religion. All these ideas congealed in to some of the main concepts and
ideas adopted by Islam. Yet Islam ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prior to the rise of Islam most of the people of the Arabian Peninsula were polytheistic. Their beliefs
consisted of multiple powers that governed a chaotic and disorganized world, which mirrored their
view of society, man, and nature as separate elements. They worshiped various elements of life, like
the moon, the sun, ancestors and nature. The situation was entirely different in the surrounding regions
where there was a tectonic shift away from polytheism to monotheism. This influenced the Arabian
Peninsula because it was sandwiched between the Christian Byzantine Empire and the Zoroastrian
Sasanian Empire. The rise of Islam is quite logical in this religious climate. First and foremost the fact
that Islam is a monotheistic religion represents the overall rise in popularity of monotheism and the
decline of polytheism in the region. This was due in part to the religious changes that came with the
rise of Mecca and the intermingling of people that I previously discussed. In this environment the idea
of monotheism is introduced by traveling Christians and Jews. This along with other concepts,
theories and ideas, allowed for people to shake of the mental, emotional, and religious restrains of the
tribal society and envision new concepts of

Education In The 1700 s Essay
Sonia Sotomayor, the first Latina Supreme Court Justice in American History once said, Until we get
equality in education, we won t have an equal society. (1) Since it s birth, our great nation has
undergone positive change that shapes the world we live in today, and we have public education to
thank for that. Many progressive movements began with our children and their educational rights,
before branching out to the rest of America s citizens. This can be seen throughout each century.
During the 1700 s, education was finally brought to the forefront of American states, creating a basic
guideline of what every American should know and giving them a space to learn. In the 1800 s,
education, though segregated, ultimately became accessible to ... Show more content on

Before 1785, schooling in America had no regulation or centralization. There weren t many schools,
and the schools that did exist were typically required families to pay a large fee. Most kids who were
educated, if they were educated at all, did so through apprenticeships. (2) Eventually, Congress
decided to set a common guideline among the states through the Land Ordinance of 1785 and the
Northwest Ordinance of 1787. These two ordinances required that towns have specific land set aside
for public education, making schooling much more accessible for children everywhere and
establishing a basic standard for the states. (Book page 136) Around this time, a man named Noah
Webster created a textbook that would become a new standard for American language in elementary
schools across the states: the American Spelling Book. This book became the most commonly used
textbook in elementary schools, setting a common level of knowledge that most young students
throughout each state would learn. (Book 125) Without the American Spelling Book, the Land
Ordinance of 1785, and the Northwest Ordinance of 1787, a whole new civilization in which a
basic/standard education was an important part of a child s life would not have been created. It s this
change in thinking and regulation, that became the first step in the right direction for the United States

Harley Davidson Strategic Analysis
William Harley and Arthur Davidson wanted to take the work out of riding bicycles in 1901. After
being joined by the Arthur brothers, Walter and William, they came up with the idea of putting a motor
and a bicycle together. Many engine changes were made before the builders were satisfied. In 1903,
they created the first Harley Davidson motorcycle and produced three that year. Harley built its first
building in 1907 on Juneau Avenue in Milwaukee. That same year, 150 motorcycles were produced.
As they were used for recreational purposes, they were also used in military situations. They proved
useful in border skirmishes and the government called for 20,000 bikes to be shipped overseas.

Sir Francis Bacon And William Shakespeare
1 There are a variety of theories that suggest that Sir Francis Bacon was, in fact, William Shakespeare.
Supporters of these claims refer to Shakespeare s writing style, lack of education, and reportedly
hidden messages within his texts as some of the evidence that indicates that Bacon was the real author
of the many plays and poems attributed to Shakespeare. However, these assertions do not conclusively
substantiate the Bacon theory and only attempt to discredit the real William Shakespeare. Therefore,
Sir Francis Bacon did not write as William Shakespeare. The first theory of Sir Francis Bacon being
the true author of Shakespeare came from the author Delia Bacon no relation. Delia Bacon was a
failed novelist and school teacher. In the late 1850 s, she made the general public aware of the Bacon
theory through both an essay and book on the subject. Bacon claimed that a comparison of Sir Francis
Bacon s writings with those of Shakespeare proved that Bacon was the true author, as she contended
the writing styles were the same. As a result, she did start the Baconian movement, which many
people believe to be true. Her book, The Philosophy of the Plays of Shakspere Unfolded, was written
in 1857, and the preface of the book was written by Nathanial Hawthorne. Hawthorne s preface never
gives support or validation to Bacon s findings. He ends his preface with the following statement, It is

Determination In Where The Red Fern Grows
Novel Theme Essay Michael Jordan once said, Some people want it to happen, some wish it would
happen, others make it happen. In order to achieve your goals, you must work for it and be determined
to get them. You can stay home and dream about your goals, or you can go out and actually take a risk.
This quote shows the theme of determination in Where the Red Fern Grows, by Wilson Rawls. The
theme of determination is shown in section one of this book. On pages 20 through 21 when Billy
worked consistently for two hard years collecting money to buy pups. This shows the theme of
determination because Billy was determined to earn enough money to buy two coon hounds to hunt
and play with. Furthermore, the theme of determination is shown on pages 27 through 28, when Billy
went through a long, hard journey on foot to go get his dogs. This supports the theme because Billy
was so determined to get those dogs, he was willing to journey on his bare feet to retrieve them. Billy
s determination in section one was crucial to him getting his dogs. ... Show more content on

The Plague Essay
In The Plague by Albert Camus a town called Oran became suddenly taken over by an epidemic the
plague , killing off thousands of people. One character greatly affected by the plague goes by the name
Rambert (A journalist from Paris just doing some research). The plague dramatically changed the way
Rambert thought because three types of environmental characteristics that surrounded him: Death,
despair and isolation. Therefore, these three characteristics showed the dramatic effects an epidemic
can have on not only people, especially Rambert.
Before the plague struck, Ramberts job consisted of gathering interviews learning about living
conditions in the Arab quarter (83) part of town. Once the plague began the government officials
quarantined Oran and rejected citizens the possibility of leaving town. Rambert tries to legally leave
Oran deeming his presence in Oran was purely accidental, he had no connection with the town and no
reasons for staying in it; that being so, he surely was entitled to leave. (84) Rambert tries to make the
officials give into his situation, but does not take into account the amount of other people trying to
leave Oran as well. His love for his wife and wanting to go home drove Rambert to take the
alternative route; escape illegally.
In part two of the book Rambert said I don t belong here! (85) He felt out of place in Oran and began
feeling desperate only thinking he was the only person greatly drawn from his wife, raising his voice

Essay on My Hero
My Hero What is a hero? In my view a hero is someone that you admire. You may admirer them for
their achievements, outlooks in life or maybe just because they are famous. In this case I admire my
hero for his courage and his determination all through his personal life and his career. This story
begins in Bellshill near Glasgow 24th September 1962 where a Glaswegian boy was born. His parents
Alexander and May called their miracle Alistair Murdoch McCoist. If only his parents had known the
difference this baby boy would make to Scottish football in years to come. At the age of 16 Ally left

new manager was brought in to the club and the fight to victory begins. Rangers then win 10 leagues

Examples Of Social Darwinism Shaping Reaganomics
Chloe Carr Professor Blodgett History 271 May 14 2013 Social Darwinism Shaping Reaganomics
Ronald Reagan made many economic decisions that supported his beliefs in Social Darwinism
throughout his presidency. Social Darwinism is considered to be the ideas of struggle for existence
and survival of the fittest, a term coined by Herbert Spencer in order to justify social policies. Over
time the individuals with superior biological characteristics will dominate populations that this super
species possessed. Couples who possessed these special qualities would then pass them down to their
offspring, creating an elite generation in the modern world. Dominic Sandbrook the author of Mad as

Reagan implemented policies based on supply side economics and advocated a classical liberal and
laissez faire philosophy, seeking to stimulate the economy with large, across the board tax cuts.
Reagan s outlook on economics was what he and the public called Reaganomics . The blueprint for
Reaganomics, was a sketched out supply side approach to the economic, including massive cuts in
income taxes, capital gains taxes, and corporate taxes, (340). His platform advocated reducing tax
rates to spur economic growth, controlling the money supply to reduce inflation, deregulation of the
economy, and reducing government spending. Reagan s policies proposed that economic growth
would occur when marginal tax rates were low enough to spur investment, which would then lead to
increased economic growth, higher employment, and wages. Reagan s beliefs on cutting taxes were
supported by ideas of William Sumner who believed that the best equipped to win the struggle for
existence was the American businessman, and concluded that taxes and regulations serve as dangers to
his survival. Reagan believed strong nations were composed of people who were successful at
expanding their empires and these strong nations would survive in the struggle for dominance.
Following his less government intervention views, Reagan cut the budgets of non military programs

Aristotle and John Locke on Nature and Purpose of a...
When I think about a political community, I usually associate it with elections, politicians, and
advertisements that bad mouth candidates from the different political parties. Politicians try to
persuade citizens to vote for them by making promises that they may never fulfill. But a political
community is more than that. A comparison of Aristotle and John Locke s nature and purpose of a
political community has given me a new insight. I learned that, even though the political community is
responsible to provide security, its main purpose is aimed for the highest good of all its citizens, which
is virtue and happiness.
While some differences between Aristotle and John Locke s nature and purpose of a political
community are obvious, the similarities are noticeable. According to Aristotle, the nature and purpose
of a political community is for the greater or highest good of all its citizens, which according to him, is
virtue and happiness. The purpose of the community is to make it possible for the citizens to achieve
this virtue and happiness. It is constituted out of numerous households for the sake of satisfying the
needs of its citizens other the everyday ones (Aristotle, Politics 1252b 15). For example, if someone in
the community wants their roof to be fixed, they can get it done by a carpenter from the community.
Likewise, if the carpenter wants a shirt to be mended, he can get it done by a tailor from the
community.
In this way the community will be best served

Donald Trump Racism
If you had told me in 2002 that 15 years later Donald Trump would be president, Kid Rock would be
running for Senate, and Eminem would be a celebrity spokesperson for human/civil rights, I would
have laughed you out of the room. This sounds more like content for an SNL skit than reality. But,
here we are; Truth really is stranger than fiction.
A few days ago, new political activist and rapper Eminem, let out some rage towards Donald Trump in
a 4.5 minute freestyle rap called The Storm on the BET Hip Hop Awards. If you are familiar with
Eminem, it shouldn t surprise you that there is fair amount of vulgarity and graphic imagery in the
video. So, proceed with caution to the link above. While he covers quite of bit of ground in his video,
for the sake of this article I want to focus on just one topic: racism. Despite wild popularity and
support from fans and trump haters, I think this video does more harm than good towards resolving
the problems of racism in our country.
In some of the most scathing lines, Eminem blasts President Trump as a racist 94 year old grandpa and
draws a line in the sand. In almost battle like terms, he demands his fans to decide who you like more
Eminem or President Trump. He even addresses the undecided, if you can t decide who you like more
and you re split on who you should stand beside, I ll do it for it for you with this. He then makes an
obscene gesture towards the camera.
This was unfair to Trump, his supports, and even Eminem s

Adoration Of The Magi Analysis
The art piece that caught my attention was at the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art. The piece is called
The Adoration of the Magi, painted by Girolamo de Carpi. The Holy Family and the Three Magi s are
illustrated in the painting. They seem to be sitting outside on the ground behind a home made of brick.
A sense of space and perception is created because in the distance, behind the people in the painting
there is a beautiful view of a mountain and the sun in the sky far from where the people are. In the
artwork, de Carpi paints clothes on each person besides baby Christ, and the clothing differ in color;
there is red, green, yellow, blue. The colors seemed somewhat bright, in a way indicating that the
painting is representing a happy time. Also painted are horses depicted behind a short wall, next to the
horses seems to be a servant giving one of the Magis a vessel of some sort.
The idea of depicting this story from the Christian bible wasn t a new one, there are countless
paintings depicting this same story, although, only one of the four gospels of the Bible actually
mentions it. The story can originally be found in Matthew 2, saying that after Jesus was born, wise
men came to Jerusalem from the east. They were looking for the child after seeing a star that meant
the birth of the King of the Jews. When the King at the time, King Herod, heard of the mens search, he
was curious and wanted to know more about his possible competitor. It was believed by his scribes

Rainforest Meets The Sea Rhyme Scheme
Two of the poems that I wrote were the limerick, Sam s Journey , and the six room image poem,
Rainforest Meets the Sea . Sam s Journey is about Sam and how he went on the lamb. He went to
many houses and was quick when he was on the run. Rainforest Meets the Sea is about Costa Rica and
the wonders that are there. Since I have been there twice in my life, I know much about it. In Sam s
Journey , I used a rhyme scheme, and in Rainforest Meets the Sea , I used repetition. Rhyme scheme is
the pattern in which the lines rhyme. For example, there could be a rhyme scheme of ABAB when
every other line rhymes with each other. Repetition is when a poet repeats a certain word, line, or
stanza within a poem. It is usually used to put emphasis on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

They can be anything from ABAB to ABACAD, or anything in between. In Sam s Journey , I used
AABBA. In order, the end of each line was Sam, lamb, houses, mouses, and BAM. Using this rhyme
scheme helped my poem in that it makes it flow. When you read it aloud, it has a rhythm. The
repetition that I used was in the poem, Rainforest Meets the Sea . At the end of the poem, I repeated
the phrase, rainforest meets the sea three times. I wanted to show the importance of that phrase to the
readers. Costa Rica is known for having the rainforest and the ocean right next to each other, so I
thought that I should repeat that certain phrase. This phrase also repeats the main subject of the poem
without repeating Costa Rica over and over again.
One thing that I had difficulty with while writing some of the poems was making some of the lines
rhyme and make sense. One of the poems that I wrote, but did not include in the portfolio was the
seasonal poem. I was writing about winter and had the word cocoa at the end of one of my lines. Since
there are not many words that rhyme with cocoa, I had to change it to hot chocolate. Changing this
messed up the meter that I was trying to incorporate into the

How Does Marjane Satrapi Use Animation In Persepolis
In the animation Persepolis, Marjane Satrapi uses color in the beginning of the animation during her
present day life and black and white for flashbacks or her past life. The majority of the animation is
the story of Marjane s life in the past so it is in mostly black and white. This is an interesting way of
using color because in a way color is used as a form of timeline, there are parts of the animation that
switch from present to past, so Satrapi just switches from black and white to color to show time
period. I find this concept very appealing and creative. are the growing tensions of the political
climate in Iran in the 70s and 80s, with members of her liberal leaning family detained and then

Marjane grew up in Iran during the Iran/Iraq war in the 1970s which creates a layer of complication in
her life due to living in a war zone. As a child there was protest going on against the Shah that was in

being war and violence. By taking us through her life starting the flashback at childhood then though
teen years we are able to learn about a personal experience on being an Iranian woman during this
time. I did not know that women in Iran during the post war periods were treated so poorly by men in
authority, I also did not know that alcohol was a forbidden beverage. I learned a lot through this
animation by understanding what Marjane went through in her life. The content of Marjane s life as a
teenager was very entertaining to watch. Marjane went from being so restrained in Iran to smoking pot
at punk concerts in Europe. When an animator is honest in their work it is appealing and easy to
watch; which is how I felt about this animation. Satrapi did not hold back in language, emotion, and

Macrophages main function to eliminate injurious agents and initiate the process of repair, but are also
responsible for much of the tissue injury in chronic inflammation. Macrophages eventually either die
off or carried away by the lymphatics and lymph nodes. Several functions of macrophages are central
to the development and persistence of chronic inflammation, by secreting verity of inflammatory
mediators, such as cytokines (TNF, IL 1), and activating other cells, notably T lymphocytes. TNF and
IL 1 derived from activated macrophages, promote leukocyte recruitment, which drive the
inflammatory response into more chronic stage. Lymphocytes are often present in chronic
inflammation and when they are activated, the inflammation tends to be persistent and severe.
Lymphocytes may be the dominant population in the chronic inflammation seen in autoimmune

The 2016 Louisiana floods were a reminder of the never ending fight to prevent floods in the State.
The risk of flooding will further be elevated as climatic related events, like sea level rise and storms,
continue to occur. After reviewing the literature, it seems as if the region is not and has never been fit
for human development, and no effort will eliminate the risk of flooding. However, this does not

In contrast, individuals with more access to resources are often healthier and fair better during storms
(Lane, 2013). In addition to general flood adaptation measures, state and local governments should
focus on poverty reduction. This would take strategic interdisciplinary efforts of social service
agencies to build stronger communities, and promote opportunity. More specifically, these efforts
should improve access to education, health care, child care, transportation, job training, and affordable
housing.
Improve Communication of Health Risks
Poor and disabled populations are more likely to shelter in place instead of evacuating for storms
(Miller, 2014). Some individuals stay by choice, but others may not have the means to leave.
Unfortunately, there are severe health consequence, such as injury or death, for those who stay behind.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (2017), flooding is the leading cause of
severe weather related deaths. Further, over 50 percent of all flood related casualties occur when a
vehicle is driven into flood water (CDC, 2017). The next highest percentage of flood related casualties
are caused by walking into or near flood waters. These types of deaths are completely preventable
with proper public communication on flood safety (Revere, 2011). State agencies should improve

High Fat and Butter Cake Recipes
High Fat or Butter Cakes
High fat cakes are made by using creaming method. Solid fat, usually butter, is creamed with sugar
until it becomes light, pale and expands in volume. This procedure incorporates air into the mixture,
and during baking air cells spread and leaven the cake. After creaming fat, eggs are mixed into the fat
which emulsifies the mixture. It is possible to add whole eggs or just egg yolks, and in that case,
remaining egg whites are mixed separately into meringue and folded into the mixture at the end. At
the end flour and other ingredients are added.

Certain cleaning agents, like bleach, soaps that aren t biodegradable, and antibacterial soaps, can
weaken and even kill the bacteria that maintains septic system health. Additionally, too much
detergent released into the tank can be the cause of clogged soil pores, preventing drainage and
inciting backups. Typically, liquid detergents are the best option when it comes to healthy septic

Certain detergents are labeled to be safe for septic tanks, and they are almost liquid, because they have
fewer ingredients that can be harmful for septic tanks. Some dry detergents use clay as a filler, which

Religion is one of the most studied things in history due to its connection with our daily lives, and

Manipulation In The Truman Show
The Truman Show is a film in which Truman is put into a television show from birth by Christof and
his life is then broadcasted 24/7 to the world. Christof had had the idea of a show broadcasting
someone s entire life for a long time and Truman was just born at the right time for when the show
began. Truman has been in the show since he was born, living in the manufactured world of Sea
Haven a small island town built inside a giant dome in Hollywood, where everything from the
weather, the sunrise and set and even the people Truman meets is controlled by Christof. Christof says
that he keeps Truman in Sea Haven so that he can be protected from the outside world, but is this the
right thing to do, to keep Truman trapped in a world he has no control ... Show more content on

He begins to notice things that happen in Sea Haven that seem off and he gets suspicious of the world
he lives. After meeting Sylvia and thinking about the things that she told him while they were on the
beach and she was taken away, Truman decided that he wants to go to Fiji to meet her as that is what
he was told she was going when she was taken. Everything that happens after that only adds to his
want to leave Sea Haven even though he doesn t know he is in a fake town, he just believes that
something is wrong with the town alone. Throughout the film he constantly tells people that he is
going to leave but everybody always tries to convince him not

Travel Business Franchise and Market Structure
My franchise operates in a markets characterized by a state of the monopolistic competition. Results!
Travel competes in the travel business, helping customers sort out their travel options and booking
travel for them. In this market, there are numerous competitors, but each tailors its service slightly
differently. There are low barriers to entry, and all firms are in business to maximize profit. Lastly,
firms in this market are typically not price takers, because they have the ability to reach consumers
(Investopedia, 2012). These are the four basic characteristics of firms in monopolistic competition,
and that therefore is the type of market structure faced by Results. There are a wide range of
competitors in this market. Some firms also do travel planning, and this segment of the industry is
highly fragmented. There are some chains still in the business and there are also a large number of
independent operators. Some of the customer segments include vacationers and corporations. A lot of
competition in this industry has migrated to the Internet. Results competes against do it yourself travel
planning websites like Expedia or Hotwire, in addition to new startups that seek out different markets
as a result of the highly heterogeneous nature of the industry (Gannes, 2010). There are a couple of
ways for my firm to increase its market power. The first is by offering lower prices. Consumers in this
segment are often price sensitive, so lower prices will entice new

The Current State Of Obesity
ENGLISH COMPOSITION Term 2 By: Darwin Hatfield S104430 Fatty Taxes The current state of
obesity in the United States is a greater than that of other countries who live healthier lifestyles.
Living healthy lifestyles is a great goal for a country to look towards achieving, and encouraging these
lifestyles can benefit the country as well as the people. There are a lot of benefits for living healthy
lifestyles, while there are also many negatives to living an unhealthy lifestyle. Taxing fatty foods
would help to encourage buying healthy foods, and it could reduce obesity rates in America. There are
a couple of problems within this way of thinking like: profits declining, people having to spend more,
and the government going ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the steady growing problem of obesity, something soon has to change. There has been many
programs to try and get citizens into shape, but the next step is to encourage eating healthy, and to
increase competition among healthy and unhealthy foods. By raising the price of fatty foods (foods
that are considered unhealthy by the daily standards) by a reasonable amount to help healthy food
compete with the low price of unhealthy foods; it could help the obesity epidemic greatly. Obesity
needs to be taken seriously because of how impactful it is becoming in our society. With obesity
getting to where it is today, It would be a great thing if the government put health as a concerning
issue. The health of the United states has been steadily declining for a couple of decades, and making
it a concerning issue could help raise awareness for obesity. Encouraging healthy lifestyles would help
improve everyone in the United States. The government already has a program to encourage eating
healthy called Let s Move with the spokesperson Michelle Obama. The program is being used to help
kids all across the United States to start getting into a healthier lifestyle. Over the past three decades,
childhood obesity rates in America have tripled...If we don t solve this problem, one third of all
children born today will suffer from diabetes at some point in their lives (Letsmove.gov). The obesity
epidemic is out of control, and more

  • 2. The Problem Of The Homelessness Every time I go to Bathurst Street in order to see my orthodontist, I always encounter those who are on the street and less fortunate then I am. There is an estimated 5200 homeless living in the city. This amount doesn t even take into account the hidden homeless that need long term housing. Homelessness in the city of Toronto costs the provincial government approximately 30 billion dollars a year. I have at times wondered why haven t we as a society taken the steps to end homelessness in Toronto? I mean it s a very simple question that can be answered with economic reasoning. To put it simply: it is unrealistic to end homelessness in Toronto. To help me reach this conclusion I went on a couple of websites to do some research, as well as used some of the core economic principles to reach my conclusion. Several studies have found that it costs three to four times more to leave someone on the street than to give them a home with support services. This is due to the tendency for those to go in and out of shelters, the hospital bills for those with no money, as well as incarceration for violations such as squeegeeing and panhandling. A reasonable person would look at this and say Instead of giving up 30 billion every year to fund the continuation of homelessness in the city, why not invest in affordable public housing and shelters to decrease the amount of money you will spend? Homelessness in the city continues for two reasons that I will discuss in this paper. The first ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Colin Powell Analysis Colin Luther Powell an American statesman and a retired four star general once uttered this quote Surround yourself with people who take their work seriously, but not themselves, those who work hard and play hard. It was in 10th grade when I first came across this quote and at that time it completely changed my life. Throughout the first two years of high school, I was not concerned on my education to say the least. I am ashamed to admit this, but I was more focused on fitting in with a particular group of individuals then go to class and learn. This all changed when I read Colin Powell s wise words; it struck me that the only reason on why I was not taking school seriously was because of my so called friends. All throughout my scholastic year s teachers have always ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To my astonishment, my new friends welcomed me with open arms, for the first time in my life I felt this was the place where I belonged. The group thrived on each other s willingness to succeed. We competed with each other, motivated each other and helped each other. Fast forward to graduation I was ranked in the top 15 of the class, graduating with honors, and looking forward to attending a college that gave me an academic scholarship. As I entered my first day of classes, my mind was excited to absorb the new information I was about to learn and be with individuals who wanted to accomplish as much as I did. The unequal pay between men and women has persisted for a while, and it is time that a law should be passed. If a colleague is working just as hard as a person in that same position, they should not be paid less. A law for wage equality is needed because the hard work of both men and women should be treated equally. Women who play as good as, or better than men, earn an impartial pay based on their work. Its successful emergence was due in part to the adoption and rejection of various factors which allowed Islam to mirror the socioeconomic trends, traditions, practices and religious theories that were prevalent throughout the region during this time period. One of the most influential events on the rise of Islam was in the rise of Mecca as a center of trade. Prior to the rise of Islam most of the people of the Arabian Peninsula were polytheistic. Their beliefs consisted of multiple powers that governed a chaotic and disorganized world, which mirrored their view of society, man, and nature as separate elements. The situation was entirely different in the surrounding regions where there was a tectonic shift away from polytheism to monotheism. This influenced the Arabian Peninsula because it was sandwiched between the Christian Byzantine Empire and the Zoroastrian Sasanian Empire. The rise of Islam is quite logical in this religious climate. First and foremost the fact that Islam is a monotheistic religion represents the overall rise in popularity of monotheism and the decline of polytheism in the region. This was due in part to the religious changes that came with the rise of Mecca and the intermingling of people that I previously discussed. In this environment the idea of monotheism is introduced by traveling Christians and Jews. • 17. Sir Francis Bacon And William Shakespeare 1 There are a variety of theories that suggest that Sir Francis Bacon was, in fact, William Shakespeare. Supporters of these claims refer to Shakespeare s writing style, lack of education, and reportedly hidden messages within his texts as some of the evidence that indicates that Bacon was the real author of the many plays and poems attributed to Shakespeare. However, these assertions do not conclusively substantiate the Bacon theory and only attempt to discredit the real William Shakespeare. Therefore, Sir Francis Bacon did not write as William Shakespeare. The first theory of Sir Francis Bacon being the true author of Shakespeare came from the author Delia Bacon no relation. Delia Bacon was a failed novelist and school teacher. In the late 1850 s, she made the general public aware of the Bacon theory through both an essay and book on the subject. Bacon claimed that a comparison of Sir Francis Bacon s writings with those of Shakespeare proved that Bacon was the true author, as she contended the writing styles were the same. As a result, she did start the Baconian movement, which many people believe to be true. Her book, The Philosophy of the Plays of Shakspere Unfolded, was written in 1857, and the preface of the book was written by Nathanial Hawthorne. Social Darwinism is considered to be the ideas of struggle for existence and survival of the fittest, a term coined by Herbert Spencer in order to justify social policies. Over time the individuals with superior biological characteristics will dominate populations that this super species possessed. Couples who possessed these special qualities would then pass them down to their offspring, creating an elite generation in the modern world. Reagan implemented policies based on supply side economics and advocated a classical liberal and laissez faire philosophy, seeking to stimulate the economy with large, across the board tax cuts. Reagan s outlook on economics was what he and the public called Reaganomics . The blueprint for Reaganomics, was a sketched out supply side approach to the economic, including massive cuts in income taxes, capital gains taxes, and corporate taxes, (340). His platform advocated reducing tax rates to spur economic growth, controlling the money supply to reduce inflation, deregulation of the economy, and reducing government spending. Reagan s policies proposed that economic growth would occur when marginal tax rates were low enough to spur investment, which would then lead to increased economic growth, higher employment, and wages. Reagan s beliefs on cutting taxes were supported by ideas of William Sumner who believed that the best equipped to win the struggle for existence was the American businessman, and concluded that taxes and regulations serve as dangers to his survival. Reagan believed strong nations were composed of people who were successful at expanding their empires and these strong nations would survive in the struggle for dominance. • 26. Aristotle and John Locke on Nature and Purpose of a... When I think about a political community, I usually associate it with elections, politicians, and advertisements that bad mouth candidates from the different political parties. Politicians try to persuade citizens to vote for them by making promises that they may never fulfill. But a political community is more than that. A comparison of Aristotle and John Locke s nature and purpose of a political community has given me a new insight. I learned that, even though the political community is responsible to provide security, its main purpose is aimed for the highest good of all its citizens, which is virtue and happiness. While some differences between Aristotle and John Locke s nature and purpose of a political community are obvious, the similarities are noticeable. According to Aristotle, the nature and purpose of a political community is for the greater or highest good of all its citizens, which according to him, is virtue and happiness. The purpose of the community is to make it possible for the citizens to achieve this virtue and happiness. It is constituted out of numerous households for the sake of satisfying the needs of its citizens other the everyday ones (Aristotle, Politics 1252b 15). For example, if someone in the community wants their roof to be fixed, they can get it done by a carpenter from the community. In some of the most scathing lines, Eminem blasts President Trump as a racist 94 year old grandpa and draws a line in the sand. • 31. Adoration Of The Magi Analysis The art piece that caught my attention was at the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art. The piece is called The Adoration of the Magi, painted by Girolamo de Carpi. The Holy Family and the Three Magi s are illustrated in the painting. They seem to be sitting outside on the ground behind a home made of brick. A sense of space and perception is created because in the distance, behind the people in the painting there is a beautiful view of a mountain and the sun in the sky far from where the people are. In the artwork, de Carpi paints clothes on each person besides baby Christ, and the clothing differ in color; there is red, green, yellow, blue. The colors seemed somewhat bright, in a way indicating that the painting is representing a happy time. Also painted are horses depicted behind a short wall, next to the horses seems to be a servant giving one of the Magis a vessel of some sort. The idea of depicting this story from the Christian bible wasn t a new one, there are countless paintings depicting this same story, although, only one of the four gospels of the Bible actually mentions it. The story can originally be found in Matthew 2, saying that after Jesus was born, wise men came to Jerusalem from the east. They were looking for the child after seeing a star that meant the birth of the King of the Jews. When the King at the time, King Herod, heard of the mens search, he was curious and wanted to know more about his possible competitor. It was believed by his scribes and priests ...
