The Poem Give Thanks by Sandra Maria Esteves
A mother is the first touch, voice and sight a baby has when he or she is born. They rely on their
mother to provide them with a safe environment, food and comfort. Being a mother comes with great
responsibility and a life long job that the work gets harder every day. Although I myself am not a
mother, I have seen this job played out from my own mother who provides her children with a great
life. Some mothers are not ready for this job, yet selfishly still choose to keep their children because
they are too proud to allow someone else provide their baby with the life they deserve. Child
abandonment is a ever rising epidemic not only in The United States, but all around the world. Child
abandonment affects the mother, but more importantly, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A way a child could be abandoned is if the baby is left on a doorstep of a stranger or a church. Leaving
a child at a church is very common and they will eventually be reported to the police. From there the
child will most likely be brought to a foster home where they will further place the child with a family
who will protect and love the child like their own. The parent or the person legally in charge of taking
care of the child will be found and face serious criminal charges. The criminal charges would include
abandonment and endangering a child. The effects this abandonment has on a child are ever lasting
and may not go away with therapy or being adopted. According to the article The Neglect Of Child
Neglect: A Meta Analytic Review Of The Prevalence Of Neglect it states, Infancy is recognized as the
period between the second postnatal month and two years, previous to the mid childhood. In humans
the period is extremely sensitive to maternal investment mother dependence for survival, and is
characterized by rapid neural growth (Stoltenborgh, Bakermans Kranenburg, Ijzendoorn). The child
develops neurological damage due to being left by the person who was supposed to care and protect
them throughout their life. Sandra Maria Esteves shows what a healthy living condition for a child
should be like. She goes on to list the roles of a mother and the experiences a child gets to live through
while bonding with the mother. It is a

Argument Against Ethan Couch
When Ethan couch was only sixteen years old, he was on trial for vehicular manslaughter in Burleson,
Texas. On the 15th of June, 2013, at around eleven p.m., Ethan Couch was driving while intoxicated,
going 70 miles per hour in a 40 mile per hour zone, slammed into a car by the road. When the tragic
event was over he killed 4 people, Holli and Shelby Boyles, Breanna Mitchell, and Brian Jennings,
and permanently injured two more, Sergio Molina and Isaiah McLaughlin. He then fled the scene of
the crime and returned to his house. Later, when they found him, he had a blood alcohol level of 0.24,

Media Portrayal Of The Media
Media deteriorating life of developing teens
Rapid changes in a young developing body can be crucial, leaving long term health issues that are
difficult to reverse and possibly lead to death. Today s media has an immense influence on how teens
view themselves in regards to what is considered beautiful. Exposure to the media has pressured teens
to feel like they need to change their body image to be model perfect and fit what the media considers
beautiful . Media portrayal of beauty and youth can cause insecure teens to alter their diet and
lifestyles causing serious mental and physical health issues. Often these changes can be drastic
causing the body to freak out and not work the same way it used to. The effects of rapid changes
would be depression, weight gain, weight loss, weak immune systems and collapsing organs.
Many times depression in teens is a result of the constant need of feeling like they have to alter their
weight, curves, fitness, and overall self image. The media tends to portray the skinny girls as popular,
while unpopular girls are shown with a muffin top. A young teen who is not a size two or below will
examine online resources for the diet that will produce the quickest results. These types of quick,
drastic changes can be very unhealthy and cause adverse affects to the body. A tidal wave can portray
the feeling of descending from the progress made. This can cause doubt of ever being a smaller weight

The Punk Rock Movement
1. INTRODUCTION
This report uses Heding et al. s seven approaches to branding (2009) to investigate John Lydon s
relevance, strengths and weaknesses as a brand. John Lydon also known as Johnny Rotten is a singer,
musician and songwriter, famous for being the lead singer of the Sex Pistols (1975 1978) and of the
Public Image Ltd (PiL) (1978 present). This report mainly focuses on Lydon s experience in PiL,
which represents the longest part of his career compared to Sex Pistols relatively short life.
Although the literature recognises that artists can produce powerful brands, the separation between art
and business has partly obscured the potential developments of branding studies in the context of the
cultural industries (Schroeder, 2006, 1291 1292). Considered the pioneer of the Punk Rock movement
and one of the most influential and controversial musicians of all times, Lydon represents an
interesting case study to offer new insights in the applicability of branding theories to artists.
The main body of this report contains seven chapters, one for each of the seven approaches identified
by Heding et al. (2009, 22 25): the identity approach, the personality approach, the consumer based
approach, the economic approach, the relational approach, the community approach and the cultural
approach. Using their model and a great variety of academic frameworks has allowed to deliver a
comprehensive analysis of John Lydon s brand. The discussion section reveals the

Loyalty In Edith Wharton s The House Of Mirth
In the average monopoly game, each player races to riches and financial stability while forcing other
players into bankruptcy. In the end, the winner is the one who has bankrupted all his opponents and
becomes the wealthiest out of all his peers. In Edith Wharton s House of Mirth, Lily s life represents a
player in monopoly wherein the end, the winner takes all. The first move can be the most important,
most vital move. It sets the speed, the tone, and the direction of the game. Lily Bart has her mind set

Violent Media Argument Analysis
My argument synthesis essay
Violent media is good for kids is a fascinating article written by Gerard Jones. He makes an argument
about how many forms of creative violence help many more children than they harm by giving them a
tool to master their rage. At thirteen years of age he explains how forms of violence have been
insightful and impactful for him. Growing up alone and afraid Gerard was taught by his parents that
rage was something to be overcome and that violence was wrong. He was placed in a small school he
felt was wrong for him, but then he withdrew from his loneliness when he became introduced to
Marvel comics. Specifically, a character in the Marvel comics he felt he could relate to named the
Hulk caught his eye and freed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That rage in the rapper s lyrics helped her in a way which she felt she could be powerful and
invulnerable in her mind. That same girl later in her life avoided the use of drugs that sank many of
her peers and succeeded through college as a writer and political activist.
Jones is not making an argument saying that violent entertainment is harmless. He knows it inspired
some people to real life violence. He argues that it has helped many people for the many people that it
hurt before and that it can help even more if people learn to utilize it well. He believes that parents
highest priority with their kids is to prevent them growing up into violent thugs, but modern kids are
more likely to grow up too passive, distrustful of themselves, and too easily manipulated. He believes
that when parents try to protect their own kids from their own feelings and fantasies, they shelter them
not from violence but against power and selfhood. Jones urges us to consider helping our kids with
their fantasies rather than trying to hide them or take them away.
When life imitates video is another article written by John Leo who opposes the argument given
before by Gerard Jones. John s argument is that If we want to avoid more massacres we should be
taking the social effects of killing games more seriously. He mentions the Colorado Massacre as
suspects Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris used pistol grip shotguns as

Stereotypes-Personal Narrative
There was an old CRT TV, like the type that had littered the shelves of my brother s pawn shop,
hitched up against the corner of the convenience store I had just walked into. Although the image was
blurry, I recognized immediately what was showing. I placed the hood of my sweatshirt over my head
and walked in, my hands stuffed in the two pockets on either side of the sweatshirt. I cursed the fact
that the sweatshirt had the words Donovan s Fight Club in big, decorative cursive letters on the back,
embroidered by the lady down the street from the club. I grabbed the milk I had come in for and
scooped up a bag of Skittles for Margie. Then I walked up to the counter, pulling out a wad of bills

Causes Of Gun Violence Essay
Guns and Violence
In discussions of Violence, one controversial issue has been the use of guns and assault rifles. On the
one hand, the NRA argues that a ban on assault rifles will not reduce gun violence. On the other hand,
Judith Miller contends that the second amendment is great but there should be some kind of ban on
assault rifles. My own view is that as long as guns are available there will be gun violence regardless.
The National Rifle Association (NRA) argues that bans on assault rifles and large ammunition
magazines are misguided and conflict the second amendment. The NRA lists ten reasons of why we
should reject firearms ban on large clips and assault rifles. Some of these reasons include the fact that
all assault rifles are not fully ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact that more violent crimes are committed with handguns rather than assault rifles is not
stunning at all to me. Handguns are much easier to get a hold of and to sale illegally and assault rifles
are just too big. Also when people think assault rifle they think fully automatic which is not the case
for most assault rifles in the US.
Judith Miller argues that the second amendment gives Americans the right to own guns, but not the
right to own assault rifles. Brings up the Federal Assault Weapons Act of 1994 which banned the
manufacture and sale of semi automatic weapons and magazines. Also the Brady Act which made you
wait five days and you had to have a background check before purchasing a handgun. Although I
agree with Judith Miller to a certain extent, I cannot accept her overall conclusion that assault rifles
should be banned because she gave no kind of statistics about how many deaths or shootings were
done with assault rifles. Only one issue she used was the theater shooting in Colorado. When there are
many other handgun deaths and shooting around the world everyday. Statistically handguns are more
dangerous so why shouldn t they be banned rather than assault

Why Augustus Caesar was a Better Ruler than Julius Caesar
The two greatest leaders of Rome are without a doubt Julius Caesar and Augustus Caesar. These two
men have defined leadership for a country. Many other countries have modeled their ethics and used
them as their own to better themselves as a whole. Without these two men, our world would not be the
same in just about every way. Although these two men were both great, one of them was better than
the other. Although Julius Caesar was a dominant leader, Augustus Caesar was certainly the better
leader. Julius Caesar was said to be a great ruler. Julius Caesar conquered many great lands. Some
places that Caesar conquered was lands such as Britain, Gaul (modern day France), Egypt, Syria,
Pontus (modern day Turkey), and most of the western European continent. Caesar has always been
one of the most controversial characters of history. His admirers have seen in him the defender of the
rights of the people against an oligarchy. His detractors have seen him as an ambitious demagogue,
who forced his way to dictatorial power and destroyed the republic. That he was gifted and versatile
there can be little doubt. He excelled in war, in statesmanship, and in oratory. (Columbia Electric
Encyclopedia) Although Julius Caesar was an excellent leader, he was not as great of a ruler as
Augustus Caesar. A major key to being a good leader is that the leader should try to keep his or her
people safe. Peace and protection is far better than havoc and destruction. Julius Caesar was a warlord,

Ethical And Ethical Issues Of Business Ethics
The work of setting a positive ethical climate starts at the top of the organization as positive ethical
attitudes filter down to employees. Ferrell et al. (2015) states, the more employees perceive an
organization s ethical culture to be the less likely they are to make unethical decisions (p.134).
Business ethics is not only about knowing what is right and wrong, or doing the right thing, ethics
involves acting with responsibility, being objective when making decisions, putting honesty in all
relationships, and maintaining employees fairness. According to Hughes, Ginnet, and Curpy (2012),
conflict over values can arise even when an organization has clearly published values because leaders
and employees have divergent perceptions of whether the leader s behavior embodies important
corporate values (p.177). Unfortunately, GM s ethical organizational culture has been seriously
disconnected from the policies stated in their company. In the past GM s culture has favored cover up
over openness and legal contemplation over customer safety. The values embedded in GM s
organization were not put into practice. Product defects were concealed from top management as well
as the public, not only hurting General Motor s reputation as a quality customer driven culture, but
also the owners of GM vehicles who were injured or died. A culture of secrecy seemed ingrained at
General Motors, which can be blamed on former CEO leaders, the organizations structure, and

Abusive Relationships are created mentally and physically. In my opinion, the definition for abuse

being. The following annotated bibliographies will express different stages of abuse in set climates.
The purpose is to evaluate opinions of the authors selected with the most relevant connections to the

broadcast that had sudden interruptions. The broadcast included many noises and sounds such as

so called terror inducing (2) broadcast is famous because people believed that it was real, newspapers

Causes And Effects Of Air Pollution
Imagine having your life cut short by at least ten years. This is the reality for many people who are
constantly exposed to high levels of air pollution. In the midwestern United States, members of the
Teamsters Union are at a higher risk of lung cancer. These union members are truck drivers and
mechanics who simply work their hardest every day to make a living. They haul heavy equipment or
material to construction sites or warehouses. Workers may have to load and unload equipment as well
as repair any problems the vehicles have. Similar to the average American, they work many hours a
day and spend even more hours on the road driving and hauling equipment from place to place. Their
trucks are mostly diesel, which emit high levels of carbon. The present day levels of elemental carbon
in truck cabs were slightly higher on average than highway background but on average 4 times greater
than those in residential neighborhoods in the Midwest (Cohen 220). A study completed by Dr. Eric
Garshick consisted of 31,000 members who worked for the Teamsters Union in 1981 and showed how
many deaths could be caused by pollution. Dr. Garshick took a look at the National Death Registry in
2001 to find how many of the members had died The results were shocking. The men in the study
were all older than thirty nine years old who have served at least one year in the union. Smoking was
taken into account by survey and adjusted to the study. Out of these men, there were a total of 4,306

Social Class In The Middle Ages
The Middle Ages was a society based on well structured and well defined classes. Once you were born
into one class of the society, you belonged to that class for the rest of your life and there was little no
chances of improving your status. These classes in order from high to low were King, Nobles, Clergy
and Peasants. The Clergy were the religious people in the middle ages and the peasants were mainly
farmers to the land owned by the lord. Clergy ranked up with the higher classes while the peasants
were the lowest class. Clergy, though they weren t considered part of one of the social classes, were an
important part and had and influential role in society, and they did have a hierarchy of their own
(Newman). The class of the peasants included Freemen who were inclined to a few rights and land,
serfs were given no rights, and slaves were bought and sold. The clergy were the religious people and
the rulings of the clergy affected everyone during the Middle Ages. Following the pope, in order of
rank, there were bishops, priests, monks and nuns. The bishops were accepted in court and normally
they were given the same luxurious the nobles had. The nobles were the highest rank in the middle
ages. The priest was not as rich as the bishops but they were generally the head of the church. Monks
were often scholarly and could read and write in Latin. Monks were clean shaven, but often they
shaved a bald spot on the top of their head as a symbol of humility called a tonsure . Nuns

Sex Role Theory Essay
1. Why do men commit more crimes then women and why is this? It is said that men commit more
crimes then women (Kreinert 2003). Many people ask why men commit more crimes it is simply
because men tend to be more violent than that of women (Kreinert 2003). When women do commit
crimes they like to commit social norms compared to men. Men are known to commit more crimes
because of their masculinity(Kreinert 2003).I think this is also because women tend to be more
truthful then that of men when it comes down to finding out the facts. What is sex role theory and
what does it argue? Sex role theory is a theory that focuses on boys and girls and how they are
socialized differently (Sulak 2014). I personally think that girls are more supervised then that of men.
Women are also less aggressive than men ( Sulak 2014).Men are more likely to take risks as well with

enforcement is not the only ones who are involved in labeling juveniles. Labeling could be by the
people they know or even the people within the neighborhood in which they live (Ascani 2012). Why
do juveniles choose to commit crime and why? Juveniles commit crimes for a number of reasons. I
personally think that juveniles commit crimes because they live in poverty. They also commit these
series of crimes because they live in a bad neighborhood (Ziiadova 2004). Being in a gang is the main
reason why Juveniles choose to commit crimes. When juveniles are involved in gangs they feel like
they actually have a family who cares for them(Ziiadova 2004) These people that in gangs most of the

Literary Heroes In Star Wars A New Hope
Every age, and every culture has its heroes. Moana, a Walt Disney film shows the hero Moana a 14
year old Polynesian girl who tries to save her dying island. In the film Star Wars A New Hope , by
George Lucas, shows the hero Luke Skywalker an 18 year old trying to destroy the death star. Literary
heroes must give their readers inspirational hope through their determined perseverance and the sense
of closure in the plot. First, literary heroes must give their readers inspirational hope through their
determined perseverance. The first example that supports this theory is in the film Moana, where

the challenge that no one else is willing to do. This also gives the reader hope because it conveys the
idea that Luke knows what he is doing. The Death Star represents the dangers of military technology
in general. From here on, Luke uses his old skills (what he did back at home) to destroy the Death
Star. Furthermore, literary heroes must give their readers inspirational hope through the sense of
closure in the plot. The first example that supports this theory is in the story Gilgamesh, where Enkidu
dies. This conveys a sense of closure in the plot, because when Enkidu is dying Gilgamesh can t stop
brooding about the prospect of his own death. This idea basically sums up the effect of Enkidu s death

The Long Way Home By David Laskin
The author of The Long Way Home: An American Journey from Ellis Island to the Great War is David
Laskin. Laskin, born in New York, attended the New College, and earned MA in English. Laskin
wrote several books about history, travel, and literary biography. In The Long Way Home , Laskin
shares the struggles the immigrants had to face in America; an endeavor to start over in the land of
opportunities, and the ordeal of their return to Europe in uniform to fight. With the intention of having
a better life, numerous individuals migrated to America. Such individuals included Meyer Epstein and
Epifanio Affatato, who immigrated to the States with the same intention. Meyer was born in Belarus.
After the death of his mother, he was adopted by his Aunt, however was abandoned as she put him on
the wrong train . (Laskin, 4). He was then adopted by Mr. Brevda. Meyer was a smart personable , and
was not destined to argue poetry or philosophy to the poor and oppressed (Laskin 6). Meyer was
determined to have a better life for himself and decided to migrate to the States. Identically, Epifanio
migrated with the same intention. He was born in Calabria, Italy, and was fifteen years old when
immigrated. The living conditions in Calabria were dreadful, and the desire to have the money, the
cars, the jobs inspired him to move to l America (Laskin, 24). These men reflect the story of numerous
immigrants who migrated to America in hope for a better and satisfying future. Certainly,

The Great Gatsby Femme Fatale
Destructive Impact of Femme Fatales
The fiction play Macbeth by William Shakespeare and the fiction novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott
Fitzgerald are well know tragic stories. Both of the stories also have destructive femme fatales who
use female appearance to manipulate and deceive other characters. The Femme fatale s are
manipulative and often hurt and destroy other characters and always for selfish reasons. If the femme
Fatale s Daisy (The Great Gatsby) and Lady Macbeth (Macbeth) do not feature in the stories, no
conflict would not have had a tragic outcome. Daisy seems like an innocent and sweet woman. But in
reality she uses her appearance to manipulate and deceive men multiple times throughout the novel.
To start, Daisy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lady Macbeth was even more manipulative and deceiving. Again and again she lowered people s
guards with her appearance and with selfish reasoning benefitted herself and let others suffer the
consequences of her actions. Many conflicts were created as a result of direct manipulation and
deceiving at the hands of Lady Macbeth. First, Lady Macbeth is able to deceive King Duncan into
thinking that she is an innocent and harmless woman who is just honoured to be in his presence. But
in reality, Lady Macbeth is scheming a murder, saying what cannot you and I perform upon the
unguarded Duncan? (I.VII.69 70). Lady Macbeth is plotting against King Duncan saying that they will
kill him when he is unguarded. Lady Macbeth sees an opportunity for her to be the queen and knows
that if she wants to become queen, King Duncan would need to be eliminated. Since she is a femme
fatale, Lady Macbeth used her appearance to assist her in getting King Duncan killed as she deceives
him into thinking she harmless when she is much more sinister. As a result, a huge conflict is created
that results in lots of people dying just because of Lady Macbeth s selfish ways. . Next, Lady Macbeth
needed to have the king killed, but she did not want to do the dirty work. Instead, she figured she
could manipulate her husband, Macbeth into doing the deed if she used her sexuality and questioned
his masculinity. Lady Macbeth goes right at him saying

The Doctrine Of Primal Sin Essay
Augustine on the doctrine of primal sin focuses on the downfall of Lucifer, and whether or not he
foreknew there would be consequences in turning away from God. However, it is arguable that Lucifer
did foresee his coming downfall. Because his intentional actions in turning away from God goes
against his angelic nature, which means he had to deliberately had to deprive himself of the greatest of
goods, and actively pursue misery. For Lucifer perversely chooses to abandon all that is good by
turning away from God, and towards what is contrary of Him, which is nothingness. That in which, on
behalf of Augustine, I will argue that Lucifer did foresee the coming of his downfall. For Lucifer
chose to bolster the vices of his will, which became the very means of degenerating his angelic nature.
Consequently, this means Lucifer intentionally pursued what is contrary to the God, thus leading to his
fall.
In behalf of Augustine, it is arguable that Lucifer foreknew his actions in rebelling against God was
going to bring about a particular consequence. For it is significant to understand the development of
the vices which enables Lucifer to fall. For Augustine explains in book 12, chapter 1; all Angels
recognize a common good in their nature which is to cleave to God. However, in order for Lucifer to
turn away from the divine graces of God, he must then deny his angelic nature. For the act of rejecting
his angelic nature, originates from the particular good bestowed by God. Because it

Under Western Eyes by Mohanty
In this text Mohanty argues that contemporary western feminist writing on Third World women
contributes to the reproduction of colonial discourses where women in the South are represented as an
undifferentiated other . Mohanty examines how liberal and socialist feminist scholarship use analytics
strategies that creates an essentialist construction of the category woman, universalist assumptions of
sexist oppression and how this contributes to the perpetuation of colonialist relations between the
north and south(Mohanty 1991:55). She criticises Western feminist discourse for constructing the third
world woman as a homogeneous powerless and vulnerable group, while women in the North still
represent the modern and liberated woman ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She makes an important point when trying to go beyond the female (otherness), by paying careful
attention to differences among women themselves, and by putting emphasize on the multiple realties
that women faces, and by that trying to uncover universalist interpretations (Parpart and Marchand
1995:6). She reveals the inadequacy of binary categories by showing us how power is defined in
binary terms, between the people who have (men) and the people who do not (women). This is a
consequence of seeing women as a homogenous group, and contributes to the reinforcement of the
binary division between men and women (Mohanty 1991:64). By assuming that women are a already
constituted group with the same experiences and interests, gender is looked upon as something that
can be applied cross cultures (Mohanty 1991:54), and it also produces an assumption about the
average third world woman as poor and uneducated, in contrast to the educated, modern Western
women (Mohanty 1991:56). Implicit in the binary analytic lies the assumption that the third world
woman only can be liberated through western rationality. Mohanty is making an important point when
emphasising the need to challenge these objectifications (Udayagiri 1995:163). Mohantys emphasis on
historical, spatial and cultural specificity contributes to important insights on how different contexts
influence on women s lives, and challenges the fact that much of the discourse of

The Little Prince By Kung Fu Panda s Mark Osborne
It just is. French animation has had a natural talent to being beautiful. Looking at the works of Sylvain
Chomet Paul Grimault as well as great films like Ernest Celestine, Persepolis and Time Masters. And
whilst some have received high praise, commercial success and even an Oscar nomination or two, one
film has slipped off a lot of people s radars Mune, le Gardien de la Lune or it s English title Mune:
The Guardian of the Moon and although the film only came out in 2015, it didn t get a release in the
US or the UK and hasn t really been talked about at all. The film is directed by Benoît Philippon
Alexandre Heboyan and produced through Onyx Films who also produced the critically acclaimed
The Little Prince by Kung Fu Panda s Mark Osborne. Mune has garnered a lot of support through their
production process, whether that was in their crew through working with Nico Marlet as a character
designer or being backed creatively by Disney Veteran Glen Keane (although no details have been
revealed as to Keane s involvement in the production). The visual style of Mune can be broken down
into numerous points, but this article will only focus on: Cinematography (Which is further broken
down into camera movement, shot size and angle) Lighting Composition Colour Very few films use
all these elements to their full capacity and in a dense medium Mune stands out. Animation has little
boundaries, a virtual camera is a blessing and a half as it can be used to create

What Was The Influence Of Foreign Films In The 1940 s
In the early 1940 s, foreign films were made and created an important impact to filmmaking all around
the world. Foreign films allowed viewers to see different cultures and traditions of other countries.
Most of these films were shot in black and white with subtitles to go along against the background.
They were sometimes grainy and did not have as good sound quality as Hollywood films had because
they were produced with such a small budget. This transition of new camera techniques and editing
began to end the Production Code era and started what was known as the neorealism movement in
Italy. Films with subtitles are not very mainstream nowadays, although, people loved foreign films
with subtitles post war because mostly everyone was reading newspapers, letters and books during
that generation. These foreign films were often played in art houses and they were very trendy for the
newer generation because they were more truthful than the Hollywood films and what could be seen
on television at the time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other countries continued to produce films, however, they were B movie types and mostly
documentaries. The camera wasn t on the tripod and this caused materials for film making to be made
to weigh less and easier to move around. Also, dialogue from the actors were often being written while
the film was being shot.

Coors Light
Executive Summary Coors prominence in the beer industry has always been overshadowed by its
bigger competitors like Budweiser, Miller and Molson, but new insights unearthed by this report may
pave new roads for a more exciting future. The first part of our analysis describes the typical Coors
drinker as an aged 25 to 44 male light beer drinker consuming almost seven bottles a week. He also
works in a managerial or professional occupation earning over $30,000 annually. Coors three
competitors also exhibit a similar consumer base with the exception of Molson being predominantly
regular beer consumers. These conclusions are tested to be statistically significant. The second part of
our report tests for associations. In the end ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Inversely, this describes the positive skewness in tracking the frequency of Coors consumption
(Exhibit 2), as mean number of drinks consumed is 6.82 while the median is 6 and hence identifies the
effects of outliers due to a few consumers with extremely high consumption. Furthermore, data also
provides us with consumer information on major competitors as indicated to be Budweiser, Miller and
Molson (Exhibit 5) which is consistent with the findings on brand loyalty showing those three brands
to dominate the industry in the beer market (Exhibit 1). Therefore, three substitute brands may have a
potential overlap with the market audience of Coors. This can be demonstrated in observing
substitution effects of major competitor Budweiser as their users prefer Miller, Michelob and Coors
when the Budweiser product is unavailable (Exhibit 6). Additionally, Coors second leading competitor
Miller substitution rates show users willing to shift to Budweiser, Coors, and Michelob when the
Miller brand is not offered (Exhibit 7). Finally, another major Molson substitution data depicts users
moving to Samuel Adams, Heineken, Coors and Budweiser when Molson is unattainable (Exhibit 8).
In general, it is observed that Coors and its competitors have an overwhelming substitution effect
where beer consumers switch interchangeably between several brands, suggesting brands may have
similar consumers associations. As compared to the Coors loyalty customers, Miller, Budweiser and
Molson

Unknown Organism Assignment
My unknown organism #11 is Escherichia coli (E. coli). E. coli belongs to the family
Enterobacteriaceae. E. coli is Gram negative, facultative anaerobe, and rod shaped bacteria (bacillus).
[1]
E. coli is a single chromosome (haploid). E. coli has 4600 kilobases with about 4300 coding sequences
and has around 1800 known E. coli proteins. 70% of its genes are monocistronic and 6% are
polycistronic, roughly having the same amount of genes on each strand [2]. E. coli is a member of
normal flora that inhabits humans and other animals. E. coli is heterotrophic and usually obtains its
food from the organism it is living in. E. coli is dependent on carbon; its main source of carbon is
obtained from glucose. E. coli is a facultative anaerobe meaning that it can use oxygen and other
electron acceptors as the final acceptor in an anabolic or catabolic pathway. The optimum temperature
of E. coli is 37o C, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bacteria groups or species can be differentiated by the fermentation patterns. The end product of
carbohydrate fermentation is an acid or acid with gas production and is dependent on the organism
involved in the fermentation process. The carbohydrate fermentation tests detect if an organism is able
to utilize glucose, lactose and sucrose. Phenol red is used as a pH indicator because it can indicate a
change in pH when acid products are formed. Bacteria can utilize certain sugars resulting in an
alkaline by product which changes the color of the carbohydrate broth from red to yellow. Bubbles
trapped within the Durham tube indicate the production of gas. The Phenol red carbohydrate
fermentation tests determine that my organism E. coli can utilize glucose, lactose and sometimes
sucrose but can only produce gas in glucose and lactose. (Phenol red carbohydrate fermentation lab

  • 2. The Poem Give Thanks by Sandra Maria Esteves A mother is the first touch, voice and sight a baby has when he or she is born. They rely on their mother to provide them with a safe environment, food and comfort. Being a mother comes with great responsibility and a life long job that the work gets harder every day. Although I myself am not a mother, I have seen this job played out from my own mother who provides her children with a great life. Some mothers are not ready for this job, yet selfishly still choose to keep their children because they are too proud to allow someone else provide their baby with the life they deserve. Child abandonment is a ever rising epidemic not only in The United States, but all around the world. Child abandonment affects the mother, but more importantly, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A way a child could be abandoned is if the baby is left on a doorstep of a stranger or a church. Leaving a child at a church is very common and they will eventually be reported to the police. From there the child will most likely be brought to a foster home where they will further place the child with a family who will protect and love the child like their own. The parent or the person legally in charge of taking care of the child will be found and face serious criminal charges. The criminal charges would include abandonment and endangering a child. The effects this abandonment has on a child are ever lasting and may not go away with therapy or being adopted. According to the article The Neglect Of Child Neglect: A Meta Analytic Review Of The Prevalence Of Neglect it states, Infancy is recognized as the period between the second postnatal month and two years, previous to the mid childhood. In humans the period is extremely sensitive to maternal investment mother dependence for survival, and is characterized by rapid neural growth (Stoltenborgh, Bakermans Kranenburg, Ijzendoorn). The child develops neurological damage due to being left by the person who was supposed to care and protect them throughout their life. Sandra Maria Esteves shows what a healthy living condition for a child should be like. She goes on to list the roles of a mother and the experiences a child gets to live through while bonding with the mother. It is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On the 15th of June, 2013, at around eleven p.m., Ethan Couch was driving while intoxicated, going 70 miles per hour in a 40 mile per hour zone, slammed into a car by the road. He then fled the scene of the crime and returned to his house. Later, when they found him, he had a blood alcohol level of 0.24, three times the legal limit in Texas. • 5. Media Portrayal Of The Media Media deteriorating life of developing teens Rapid changes in a young developing body can be crucial, leaving long term health issues that are difficult to reverse and possibly lead to death. Today s media has an immense influence on how teens view themselves in regards to what is considered beautiful. Exposure to the media has pressured teens to feel like they need to change their body image to be model perfect and fit what the media considers beautiful . Media portrayal of beauty and youth can cause insecure teens to alter their diet and lifestyles causing serious mental and physical health issues. Often these changes can be drastic causing the body to freak out and not work the same way it used to. The effects of rapid changes would be depression, weight gain, weight loss, weak immune systems and collapsing organs. Many times depression in teens is a result of the constant need of feeling like they have to alter their weight, curves, fitness, and overall self image. The media tends to portray the skinny girls as popular, while unpopular girls are shown with a muffin top. A young teen who is not a size two or below will examine online resources for the diet that will produce the quickest results. These types of quick, drastic changes can be very unhealthy and cause adverse affects to the body. A tidal wave can portray the feeling of descending from the progress made. This can cause doubt of ever being a smaller weight (raiding out your kitchen), or it can lead to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Punk Rock Movement 1. INTRODUCTION This report uses Heding et al. s seven approaches to branding (2009) to investigate John Lydon s relevance, strengths and weaknesses as a brand. John Lydon also known as Johnny Rotten is a singer, musician and songwriter, famous for being the lead singer of the Sex Pistols (1975 1978) and of the Public Image Ltd (PiL) (1978 present). This report mainly focuses on Lydon s experience in PiL, which represents the longest part of his career compared to Sex Pistols relatively short life. Although the literature recognises that artists can produce powerful brands, the separation between art and business has partly obscured the potential developments of branding studies in the context of the cultural industries (Schroeder, 2006, 1291 1292). Considered the pioneer of the Punk Rock movement and one of the most influential and controversial musicians of all times, Lydon represents an interesting case study to offer new insights in the applicability of branding theories to artists. The main body of this report contains seven chapters, one for each of the seven approaches identified by Heding et al. (2009, 22 25): the identity approach, the personality approach, the consumer based approach, the economic approach, the relational approach, the community approach and the cultural approach. Using their model and a great variety of academic frameworks has allowed to deliver a comprehensive analysis of John Lydon s brand. The discussion section reveals the ... In the end, the winner is the one who has bankrupted all his opponents and becomes the wealthiest out of all his peers. In Edith Wharton s House of Mirth, Lily s life represents a player in monopoly wherein the end, the winner takes all. The first move can be the most important, most vital move. It sets the speed, the tone, and the direction of the game. Lily Bart has her mind set on the lavish life, and she is not going to let anyone stop her nor any bills or expenses. • 9. Violent Media Argument Analysis My argument synthesis essay Violent media is good for kids is a fascinating article written by Gerard Jones. He makes an argument about how many forms of creative violence help many more children than they harm by giving them a tool to master their rage. At thirteen years of age he explains how forms of violence have been insightful and impactful for him. Growing up alone and afraid Gerard was taught by his parents that rage was something to be overcome and that violence was wrong. He was placed in a small school he felt was wrong for him, but then he withdrew from his loneliness when he became introduced to Marvel comics. Specifically, a character in the Marvel comics he felt he could relate to named the Hulk caught his eye and freed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That rage in the rapper s lyrics helped her in a way which she felt she could be powerful and invulnerable in her mind. That same girl later in her life avoided the use of drugs that sank many of her peers and succeeded through college as a writer and political activist. Jones is not making an argument saying that violent entertainment is harmless. He knows it inspired some people to real life violence. He argues that it has helped many people for the many people that it hurt before and that it can help even more if people learn to utilize it well. He believes that parents highest priority with their kids is to prevent them growing up into violent thugs, but modern kids are more likely to grow up too passive, distrustful of themselves, and too easily manipulated. He believes that when parents try to protect their own kids from their own feelings and fantasies, they shelter them not from violence but against power and selfhood. Jones urges us to consider helping our kids with their fantasies rather than trying to hide them or take them away. When life imitates video is another article written by John Leo who opposes the argument given before by Gerard Jones. Although the image was blurry, I recognized immediately what was showing. I placed the hood of my sweatshirt over my head and walked in, my hands stuffed in the two pockets on either side of the sweatshirt. I cursed the fact that the sweatshirt had the words Donovan s Fight Club in big, decorative cursive letters on the back, embroidered by the lady down the street from the club. • 12. Causes Of Gun Violence Essay Guns and Violence In discussions of Violence, one controversial issue has been the use of guns and assault rifles. On the one hand, the NRA argues that a ban on assault rifles will not reduce gun violence. On the other hand, Judith Miller contends that the second amendment is great but there should be some kind of ban on assault rifles. My own view is that as long as guns are available there will be gun violence regardless. The National Rifle Association (NRA) argues that bans on assault rifles and large ammunition magazines are misguided and conflict the second amendment. The NRA lists ten reasons of why we should reject firearms ban on large clips and assault rifles. Some of these reasons include the fact that all assault rifles are not fully ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fact that more violent crimes are committed with handguns rather than assault rifles is not stunning at all to me. Handguns are much easier to get a hold of and to sale illegally and assault rifles are just too big. Also when people think assault rifle they think fully automatic which is not the case for most assault rifles in the US. Judith Miller argues that the second amendment gives Americans the right to own guns, but not the right to own assault rifles. Brings up the Federal Assault Weapons Act of 1994 which banned the manufacture and sale of semi automatic weapons and magazines. Also the Brady Act which made you wait five days and you had to have a background check before purchasing a handgun. Although I agree with Judith Miller to a certain extent, I cannot accept her overall conclusion that assault rifles should be banned because she gave no kind of statistics about how many deaths or shootings were done with assault rifles. Only one issue she used was the theater shooting in Colorado. When there are many other handgun deaths and shooting around the world everyday. Statistically handguns are more dangerous so why shouldn t they be banned rather than assault ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Why Augustus Caesar was a Better Ruler than Julius Caesar The two greatest leaders of Rome are without a doubt Julius Caesar and Augustus Caesar. These two men have defined leadership for a country. Many other countries have modeled their ethics and used them as their own to better themselves as a whole. Without these two men, our world would not be the same in just about every way. Although these two men were both great, one of them was better than the other. Although Julius Caesar was a dominant leader, Augustus Caesar was certainly the better leader. Julius Caesar was said to be a great ruler. Julius Caesar conquered many great lands. Some places that Caesar conquered was lands such as Britain, Gaul (modern day France), Egypt, Syria, Pontus (modern day Turkey), and most of the western European continent. Caesar has always been one of the most controversial characters of history. His admirers have seen in him the defender of the rights of the people against an oligarchy. His detractors have seen him as an ambitious demagogue, who forced his way to dictatorial power and destroyed the republic. That he was gifted and versatile there can be little doubt. He excelled in war, in statesmanship, and in oratory. (Columbia Electric Encyclopedia) Although Julius Caesar was an excellent leader, he was not as great of a ruler as Augustus Caesar. A major key to being a good leader is that the leader should try to keep his or her people safe. Peace and protection is far better than havoc and destruction. Julius Caesar was a warlord, not a ... • 14. Ethical And Ethical Issues Of Business Ethics The work of setting a positive ethical climate starts at the top of the organization as positive ethical attitudes filter down to employees. Ferrell et al. (2015) states, the more employees perceive an organization s ethical culture to be the less likely they are to make unethical decisions (p.134). Business ethics is not only about knowing what is right and wrong, or doing the right thing, ethics involves acting with responsibility, being objective when making decisions, putting honesty in all relationships, and maintaining employees fairness. According to Hughes, Ginnet, and Curpy (2012), conflict over values can arise even when an organization has clearly published values because leaders and employees have divergent perceptions of whether the leader s behavior embodies important corporate values (p.177). Unfortunately, GM s ethical organizational culture has been seriously disconnected from the policies stated in their company. In the past GM s culture has favored cover up over openness and legal contemplation over customer safety. The values embedded in GM s organization were not put into practice. Product defects were concealed from top management as well as the public, not only hurting General Motor s reputation as a quality customer driven culture, but also the owners of GM vehicles who were injured or died. A culture of secrecy seemed ingrained at General Motors, which can be blamed on former CEO leaders, the organizations structure, and organizational ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Approximately two percent of the everyone listening to the radio heard the broadcast that night, and the number of people fooled was so little it was immeasurable (Pooley, Socolow 1). • 17. Causes And Effects Of Air Pollution Imagine having your life cut short by at least ten years. This is the reality for many people who are constantly exposed to high levels of air pollution. In the midwestern United States, members of the Teamsters Union are at a higher risk of lung cancer. These union members are truck drivers and mechanics who simply work their hardest every day to make a living. They haul heavy equipment or material to construction sites or warehouses. Workers may have to load and unload equipment as well as repair any problems the vehicles have. Similar to the average American, they work many hours a day and spend even more hours on the road driving and hauling equipment from place to place. Their trucks are mostly diesel, which emit high levels of carbon. The present day levels of elemental carbon in truck cabs were slightly higher on average than highway background but on average 4 times greater than those in residential neighborhoods in the Midwest (Cohen 220). A study completed by Dr. Eric Garshick consisted of 31,000 members who worked for the Teamsters Union in 1981 and showed how many deaths could be caused by pollution. Dr. Garshick took a look at the National Death Registry in 2001 to find how many of the members had died The results were shocking. The men in the study were all older than thirty nine years old who have served at least one year in the union. Smoking was taken into account by survey and adjusted to the study. • 18. Social Class In The Middle Ages The Middle Ages was a society based on well structured and well defined classes. Once you were born into one class of the society, you belonged to that class for the rest of your life and there was little no chances of improving your status. These classes in order from high to low were King, Nobles, Clergy and Peasants. The Clergy were the religious people in the middle ages and the peasants were mainly farmers to the land owned by the lord. Clergy ranked up with the higher classes while the peasants were the lowest class. Clergy, though they weren t considered part of one of the social classes, were an important part and had and influential role in society, and they did have a hierarchy of their own (Newman). The class of the peasants included Freemen who were inclined to a few rights and land, serfs were given no rights, and slaves were bought and sold. The clergy were the religious people and the rulings of the clergy affected everyone during the Middle Ages. Following the pope, in order of rank, there were bishops, priests, monks and nuns. The bishops were accepted in court and normally they were given the same luxurious the nobles had. The nobles were the highest rank in the middle ages. The priest was not as rich as the bishops but they were generally the head of the church. Monks were often scholarly and could read and write in Latin. Monks were clean shaven, but often they shaved a bald spot on the top of their head as a symbol of humility called a tonsure . Nuns ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. Sex Role Theory Essay 1. Why do men commit more crimes then women and why is this? It is said that men commit more crimes then women (Kreinert 2003). Many people ask why men commit more crimes it is simply because men tend to be more violent than that of women (Kreinert 2003). When women do commit crimes they like to commit social norms compared to men. Men are known to commit more crimes because of their masculinity(Kreinert 2003).I think this is also because women tend to be more truthful then that of men when it comes down to finding out the facts. What is sex role theory and what does it argue? Sex role theory is a theory that focuses on boys and girls and how they are socialized differently (Sulak 2014). • 25. The Doctrine Of Primal Sin Essay Augustine on the doctrine of primal sin focuses on the downfall of Lucifer, and whether or not he foreknew there would be consequences in turning away from God. However, it is arguable that Lucifer did foresee his coming downfall. Because his intentional actions in turning away from God goes against his angelic nature, which means he had to deliberately had to deprive himself of the greatest of goods, and actively pursue misery. For Lucifer perversely chooses to abandon all that is good by turning away from God, and towards what is contrary of Him, which is nothingness. That in which, on behalf of Augustine, I will argue that Lucifer did foresee the coming of his downfall. For Lucifer chose to bolster the vices of his will, which became the very means of degenerating his angelic nature. Consequently, this means Lucifer intentionally pursued what is contrary to the God, thus leading to his fall. In behalf of Augustine, it is arguable that Lucifer foreknew his actions in rebelling against God was going to bring about a particular consequence. For it is significant to understand the development of the vices which enables Lucifer to fall. For Augustine explains in book 12, chapter 1; all Angels recognize a common good in their nature which is to cleave to God. However, in order for Lucifer to turn away from the divine graces of God, he must then deny his angelic nature. For the act of rejecting his angelic nature, originates from the particular good bestowed by God. Because it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Under Western Eyes by Mohanty In this text Mohanty argues that contemporary western feminist writing on Third World women contributes to the reproduction of colonial discourses where women in the South are represented as an undifferentiated other . Mohanty examines how liberal and socialist feminist scholarship use analytics strategies that creates an essentialist construction of the category woman, universalist assumptions of sexist oppression and how this contributes to the perpetuation of colonialist relations between the north and south(Mohanty 1991:55). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She makes an important point when trying to go beyond the female (otherness), by paying careful attention to differences among women themselves, and by putting emphasize on the multiple realties that women faces, and by that trying to uncover universalist interpretations (Parpart and Marchand 1995:6). She reveals the inadequacy of binary categories by showing us how power is defined in binary terms, between the people who have (men) and the people who do not (women). This is a consequence of seeing women as a homogenous group, and contributes to the reinforcement of the binary division between men and women (Mohanty 1991:64). By assuming that women are a already constituted group with the same experiences and interests, gender is looked upon as something that can be applied cross cultures (Mohanty 1991:54), and it also produces an assumption about the average third world woman as poor and uneducated, in contrast to the educated, modern Western women (Mohanty 1991:56). Implicit in the binary analytic lies the assumption that the third world woman only can be liberated through western rationality. Mohanty is making an important point when emphasising the need to challenge these objectifications (Udayagiri 1995:163). Mohantys emphasis on historical, spatial and cultural specificity contributes to important insights on how different contexts influence on women s lives, and challenges the fact that much of the discourse of ...
