DNAAnd Crime Scene Analysis
Each year about 33,000 crimes are solved by DNA database, therefore, showing that DNA has an
important element when determining and finding potential suspects who may have committed the
crime. DNA, or deoxyribonucleic acid, is a substance that makes up an individual s genetic identity.
DNA is found in all organisms, but more the abundance of DNA is found in cells which include a
nucleus or nucleated cells ( preservation and collection of biological evidence ). Within a crime scene
detectives and officers can use common materials such as tissues, pillows, a bottle, and more. When a
detective finds cases in which DNA is present, they can take the samples back to lab to extract and
quantify the DNA to see if they can do further analysis on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, since hair is typically made up of the protein, Keratin, it is typically harder to extract DNA
from hair. In order to extract DNA from hair it is important to use the follicle of the hair. DNA is
easily found in the root and follicle of the hair because it is connected to the blood stream (Heywood,
21 22). When attempting to extract the DNA from the hair, forensics attempt to wash out all of the
protein, therefore, the only thing left is the pure DNA sample. However, there is not a 100% chance
that protein will be washed out completely, meaning that there is a chance that DNA could be
contaminated, in other words the DNA would be hard to read and find a yield. In addition, due to this
fact the average success rate of yielding DNA from hair is 60 70% ( A Simple Method of Genomic
DNA Extraction from Human Samples for PCR RFLP Analysis ). However, unlike hair cells, cheek
cells are much simpler to extract DNA from. This is due to the fact that the tissue inside of your
mouth, contains a lot of available DNA when the area is shedded (Smith, 43). When the popsicle stick
is rubbed along the tissue it allows for cells to be shedded, therefore it is easy to obtain the cells, when
one rinses saline buffer inside of the mouth and spits back into a microcentrifuge tube (Smith,

The Theory Of Social Life
Theory Paper Throughout my social life I ve had many different experiences with different races and
ethnicities that relate to the ethnic related theories. I feel as if most of my encounters follow the
assimilation perspective. I know specific events and encounters but, it s easy to just observe these
things happening in your surroundings. The pluralist theory is pretty much the complete opposite of
the assimilation theory. In this theory the certain group doesn t conform to society but, they celebrate
their ethnic traditions. They are not ashamed of their culture; they are proud and want to display their
enthusiasm about it. The last theory are the power and stratification theories. These are more of a
structural problem that affects the whole ethnic group but; I know certain people that have to go
through these struggles. My social life consists with different events that coordinate with some of the
ethnic related theories. I wouldn t call the slice of my social life terribly diverse, but I have been
exposed to different races and ethnicities. I come from a quaint little town in the suburbs of Cleveland
called Painesville. The demographics of the city part of this township area is almost evenly split
between Hispanics and Caucasians with a higher percent of people belonging in these race groups,
while African Americans come in next then carried out with different races and ethnicities to fill out
the makeup of the township. My school was still more a prominently white

Animals In The Trojan War
As we discussed in class, the Iliad s mortals lie between gods and animals in their thoughts and
actions, and often struggle to overcome their baser instincts in the pursuit of god like wisdom and
power. However, the events of the Trojan War paradoxically suggest that in order to attain divine glory
heroes must become increasingly bestial, slowly losing their humanity as the battle drags on. Homer
makes the inhuman ferocity of his heroes obvious, most notably in frequent similes comparing various
fighters to predators. These comparisons are more frequent and violent as the war escalates. During
the peak of Agamemnon s fury in battle, he is compared to a lion [seizing] the innocent young of the
running deer...and [ripping] out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the Achaians and the Trojans place high value on honor earned in battle, multiple characters
comment on the futility of war. While in combat, Menelaos angrily declares that the Trojans will never
be satisfied with their accomplishments in war, directly contrasting it with more humane activities
such as song and dance. Even Achilleus admits, There [is] no gratitude given for fighting incessantly
forever against your enemies...A man dies still if he has done nothing, as one who has done much
(9.316 318). However, the heroes recognition of the wasteful, unending nature of war is ultimately
meaningless, as emotion drives them to fight even when logic would tell them to turn back. This is
what separates the humans from the gods gods have some control over their emotions, while humans,
like animals, are completely beholden to them. This contrast is clearest in Book 16, where Zeus
ultimately masters his own sadness over his son Sarpedon s impending death and allows fate to take
its course, while Patroklos, in a huge blind fury (16.685), forgets Achilleus s orders and pursues the
Trojans, leading to his demise. Thus, the human heroes lead a fundamentally tragic existence they, like
animals, are increasingly controlled by their instincts and emotions as the

Cuban Holidays
This past summer I had the opportunity to travel to a place where the people and food were amazing,
the buildings and artwork outstanding, the weather hot and the politics, well interesting this was Cuba.
Arrival: 48 minutes. That s how long it took for our group of excited students and chaperones to leave
Miami and touch down in a place that has not been legally allowed to host Americans for over 50
years. As I stepped off the plane my heart pounded, I realized I was in Cuba. I was ready to explore,
but first Customs. Customs: Where is it? I reached in my left and right pockets only to feel a mint
wrapper and a Chick Fil A receipt. I became more frantic. Then it hit me, my red sports bag and, in the
middle pocket, my Visa. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The average Joe had to either steal or get a side hustle to earn money. Being a communist government
Cubans are provided with food and clothes. Secondly, capitalism is frowned upon. If one were to own
a business it would have to be shared and overseen by the government. The government owns
everything, from your house to the food you eat. Lastly, the treatment of the Cubans, especially those
of the darker complexion: Cubans are banned from things that others were allowed to do. I remember
when our group was ready to go scuba diving our tour guide was banned because she was Cuban. It
was not until we bargained with the Scuba instructor was she finally allowed to come. Also, I
remember going into a restaurant with a couple of people on the trip, when I entered, an employee
shooed me away mistaking me for a Cuban. Although, he apologized, the incident really opened my
eyes to what life in Cuba means for everyone. My trip to Cuba was truly life changing in that it gave
me a different perspective on the world and how different people live. This was truly one of those trips

2nd Peter s In Faithful To The End
Peter whose name means Rock is a true definition of denying self and running into the fire for the
cause of Christ. Simone Peter is the author of 2nd Peter. He wrote this book and was a servant and
Apostle of Jesus Christ. The Epistle of Peter, also known as 2nd Peter was written somewhere
between 64 A.D and 66 AD. Peter believed his death was near and inevitable during the time of his
writings. 2nd Peter is different from 1st epistle that was written. Peters communication was to
strengthen the church in his first letters. His second epistle was dedicated to warning of false teachers,
and those who were in the church as well. It is believed that these writings were written near the end
of Peters life. The intended audience for Peter was Asia Minor. The purpose of 2nd Peter was to call to
Christian growth, condemnation of false teachers, the persecution and sufferings and having
confidence in Christ return. There are similarities between the book of Jude. (Jude 4 18 and 2nd Peter
2).
Jude and Peter are so parallel that some have questioned which one was written first. Some scholars
have speculated that Jude borrowed from Peter, or maybe they even used the same source. As we dive
in further, we will see Peter instructs believers how to deal with those who are enemies of the cross
and false teachings. The theme for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Music In Western Europe Essay
Music Performance in Western Europe Seeing Europe and it s many treasures over sixteen days in a
life changing experience. Not everyone can say that they got to perform in four different countries
across Europe or that they have even been to Europe. From sightseeing in London to performing in the
mountains of Switzerland there was never a dull moment in our limited time there. It was amazing
how different each city is from each other and the cultural differences we experienced. No matter how
different each city was, however there was always at least this one thing in common; their passion for
music. Our journey first started in the busy city of London, England. After landing, we set off to the
village of Windsor to see the Windsor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Tower of London has always played a prominent role in the English s history. Controlling the
Tower has always been important to controlling the country because of it s position on the River
Thames. Because it is so important it has been besieged several times. There is also a group of at least
six ravens that reside in the Tower of London. The ravens in the tower are there due to a popular
superstition that if the Tower of London ravens are lost or fly away, the Crown will fall and Britain
with it . Some of the ravens were even bred in Somerset specifically for the tower. The bird s flight
feathers on one wing are clipped so that they cannot fly away. That same day we visited Buckingham
Palace to watch the changing of the guard. The changing of the guard is a colorful ceremony where
the sentries are relieved and replaced by a new batch of sentries. The ceremony is done every Monday,
Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday between January and March. Buckingham Palace was built in 1703
and originally built for the Duke of Buckingham and was called the Buckingham House. In 1761,
King George III acquired the house and made it a private residence for Queen Charlotte and was from
then on known as The Queen s House. It was enlarged twice in the 19th century and then once more in
the 20th century. The next place we visited was the Westminster Abbey. The Westminster Abbey is a

Negative Effects Of Advertising In Advertising
Over $10.7 trillion were spent by American consumers in 2011 (mentalfloss.com). To put that into
perspective, with that amount of money, you could buy over thirteen trillion full size Hershey s bars,
almost 450 million family cars, or cover the incomes of almost 205 million US families
(kiplinger.com)! So, how exactly do companies get consumers to spend that much? Advertising! And
it s not simply showing consumers what products or services these companies have to offer. In many
cases, marketers lure consumers into buying from them by relying on common advertising traps.
The first common trap is to tug on the heartstrings of Americans. Companies frequently create
advertising that portrays people or animals dealing with difficult situations and asks the viewer for
money to improve their lives. A real world example of this type of advertising is the numerous
commercials produced by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, or ASPCA.
Most of their ads focus on an abandoned animal that shows obvious signs of neglect in order to
encourage the viewer to empathize with the animal and donate money for their cause. Many people
end up donating when they see ads like this because they may feel guilty about not helping another
person or animal in need when they have the chance to do so or they may feel that their donations can
directly help end the other person s or animal s suffering.
The next ploy Americans fall for is the use of term free. Advertisers use the word free to create the
illusion that the consumer is getting a great deal in order to encourage them to buy something they
may not had wanted to buy in the first place. After all, who would not want something for free? But
usually in order to get something free, the consumer must first meet certain conditions. For example,
in order to qualify for free shipping on Amazon, you must spend a minimum of $25. Because the
shipping and handling fee is so high, many people who only had planned to buy one or two cheap
items end up shopping for additional items that they had not intended to buy just to get the free
shipping. So, in many cases they end up spending more money with the free shipping than if they just
bought the item they

The Rise Of Great Nations
The rise of great nations is a result of its citizens coming together to consider the all the possibilities to
improve the state of the country and then enacting the best ones. In democracy, all people s voices are
respected and heard but not all are logical and some are controversial. One election in America which
metaphorically caused a civil war was the election between Donald J. Trump and Hilary Clinton. Both
sides actively condemned the other with negative images of their opponent and a positive almost
godlike image of their preferred choice. At times it appeared as if Clinton represented a traditional and
logical way of thinking whilst Trump bragged about how idiosyncratic his alternative logic is.
Indisputably, the opponent which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As for wealth, it is imperative that the commander in chief improve the state of the economy by
raising the Gross Domestic Product. For this category, all future presidents should enforce actions that
allow the nation s GDP to be akin to that of former president John F. Kennedy. Under his
administration, GDP growth was the highest it ever has been; at 5.5% (Soergel). Regarding the
concept of happiness, I believe that as far as the country is not fighting a war and racial tensions are
low, then the atmosphere of this country can be gleeful. In contrast to former presidents Obama and
Kennedy, Trump has a unique and illogical way of pursuing these qualifications. Our current president
is renowned for bypassing the basic tenets of logic, creating his own in the process, and have half of
the nation under his spell. There are a myriad of policies that President Donald Trump intends to
implement that beat common sense, but of all, the biggest are regarding health care, domestic jobs,
immigration, and Muslims. Concerning health care reform, President Trump intends to repeal and
replace every aspect of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) that former President
Barack Obama signed into law. At first glance, there should not be a tremendous amount of
controversy revolving around this topic if the current adversities of Obamacare were replaced with
something that is clear and transparent. However, President Trump s plan is irrational because

Dealing With Suicidal Ideations
Working with a client who reports suicidal ideations can come in different forms, but can potentially
lead to a crisis if left unaddressed. Monaghan and Harris (2015) discussed suicide intervention from
the beginning of a therapeutic relationship by building a working and trusting relationship,
collaborating with the client, conducting regular risk assessments, involving social support, and
establishing a specific intervention style. There are three specific intervention styles were reported by
Monaghan and Harris (2015): solution focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and dialectical
behavior therapy. Solution focused therapy helps the client focus on the solution rather than the
problem, strengths rather than weaknesses, and the positives instead of the negatives. Cognitive
behavioral therapy helps the clients alter their way of thinking about their situation with the goal of
altering the client s feelings and behaviors. Dialectical behavior therapy challenges dysfunctional
behaviors to help the clients change patterns of behaviors that are not ... Show more content on

Molecular technology has become the talk of mainstream science and technology today. As the
aviation industry searches for new forms of efficient aviation, molecular technology would be the only
logical place to start. For this report the various beneficial uses of carbon nanotubes, in form of
buckminsterfullerene, will be both discussed and theorized. The infinitesimal molecular structure of
carbon 60 has provided a revolutionary solution for flight efficiency and advancement today. Through
the use of an experimental material derived from carbon nanotube technology some of flights oldest

Through the use of Smalley s advance laser, laurites were able to create clusters of carbon 60 and 70
atoms (The Discovery). These buckyballs formed when graphene was evaporated into an inert
atmosphere at very high temperatures (The Discovery). Their unique nanospheric structure gave birth
to new questions, ultimately expanding the field of practical uses in the real world today.
Buckypaper is a small molecular structure that is most commonly associated with the shape of a
soccer ball. About 1/50000th the diameter of a single human hair, this incredibly small material
possesses superior properties that make it a remarkably great conductor for both heat and electricity
(Ray B). Its small, yet effective, attributes are a result of the powerful atomic bonds found within
unique molecular fibers of these nanostructures (Boyd J). About 100 times stronger than steel and only
one sixth of its total weight, buckypaper is the perfect replacement for all composite materials
currently used to construct aerodynamic crafts (Boyd J). The molecular size of buckypaper s
nanospheric structure has made production both a very tedious and expensive task. Research is
currently being done by students under the direction of Dr. Ben Wang at Florida State University in
hopes of creating practical, but affordable, methods of buckminsterfullerene production for future
commercial uses. Though students at FSU have been given over 3.7 million in

R s Four Freedoms
F.D.R s Four Freedoms Speech
Franklin Delano Roosevelt served as president of the United States of America from 1933 until 1945
and is most famously known for his handling of one of the most difficult periods in American history,
a time plagued by economic depression and war. FDR, as he came to be known, started a New Deal
which focused on relief, recovery, and reform. He gave hope to the American people, ensuring to them
that, the only thing we have to fear is fear itself. FDR changed the policy of isolationism, and turned
the United States into a world power. He was a bold personality, and a strong leader, someone who led
through his actions, rather than his words. Roosevelt suffered from polio, but never let the disease
change him. His determination to help the American people ultimately allowed him to become known
as one of America s greatest presidents. FDR gave many famous and opinionated speeches in order to
encourage American involvement in domestic and foreign conflicts, and used these speeches as a form
of propaganda. Franklin Delano Roosevelt s 1941 State of the Union Address, which came to be
known as his Four Freedoms speech, spoke to a worried America on the verge of America s entrance
into the Second World War. His speech characterized American identity, created a sense of
nationalism, and spelled out four essential freedoms that people worldwide should possess.

Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit s Impacts on the World of...
Everything is measured, even the hottest and the coldest temperatures can be measured, and in that
case, the word fahrenheit comes into use. the book Word People by Nancy Sorel, defines fahrenheit as
pertaining to a temperature scale that registers the freezing point of water as 32 F and the boiling point
as 212 F under standard atmospheric pressure (Sorel 99). But the word fahrenheit, itself has its history
of its creation, and was named after a physicist engineer, named Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit. Fahrenheit
would soon change the world of measuring.
Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit was born on Danzig, Germany in 1869. He was one of Concordia and
Daniel Schumann Fahrenheit s five children. He was the oldest amongst his two brothers and three
sisters, whom all survived throughout their childhood. Fahrenheit s mother was the daughter of a well
known Danzig business family (Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit Biography ) . His father was a wealthy
merchant, and therefore his family was a merchant family, they in several Hanseatic cities . According
to the book Word People by Nancy Sorel, at the age of fifteen, both of his parents suddenly died from
eating poisonous mushrooms on August 14, 1701 (Sorel 99). His guardian sent him to Amsterdam,
Netherlands to study business, where he spent most of his life.

Aboriginal Australian Displacement Analysis
Displacement can be defined as forcible removal of people from their home environment and
community. For Aboriginal Australian s displacement began in the 1880 s, after the European
settlement, and a number of Government Acts were introduced to assert power onto Aboriginal
Australia s and educate them on a Western culture (Harrison Sellwood, 2016). As a result, the
displacement of Aboriginal Australian s from their land increased diseases, and destruction of culture
and languages (Hampton Toombs, 2013, p. 37) which continues into the new century. The 1905 Act
gave the Government and Police power to remove any Aboriginal Australian s to a reserve which were
established to house all Indigenous Australian people in one location. The Government thought they
were providing Indigenous Australian people with special treatment (Craven, 2011), however, ... Show

Analysis Of The Movie Birth Of A Nation
Give a description of a scene that incorporates a more modern language of filmmaking via shots,
lighting, editing. Birth of a Nation has a lot of scenes the movie itself is 3 hours long however in one
specific scene D.W. Griffith manages to incorporate many modern filmmaking techniques. The scene
in which Flora goes to retrieve water and is abruptly met by Gus incorporates many modern
techniques. In this scene we see the use of close up shots to focus on character reactions from both
Gus and Flora. We also see the use of close ups to focus on objects other characters are looking at
such as Flora looking at a squirrel in a tree. Finally, we also see the use of natural lighting in this scene
as the entirety of the scene is shot outside. This an instance of a form of cinematic realism that is
confused for the reality of reconstruction politics after the death of Lincoln. What stereotypes are
perpetrated in this film? The film consistently perpetuates stereotypes that the African American
community are less than human and more like animals. This is done through how they act, the film
itself depicts them as being uncivilized. Within the film there are scenes where many African
American characters have taken political office and are shown taking their shoes off and being lazy,
and eating food openly during political hearings. The film also depicts most African Americans as
being evil or criminals. The film itself shows Gus attempting to harm Flora due to her refusing

Andrew George
232: Move and position individuals in accordance with their plan of care
1:1 Outline the anatomy and physiology of the human body in relation to the importance of correct
moving and positioning of individuals.
We need to know the normal range of movement of the muscles and joints so when moving, handling
and positioning a person we know the limits of each limb. We need to take into consideration other
factors that may inhibit a person s movements as:
Old Fractures
Torn Muscles
Rheumatism and Arthritic conditions.
This should all be written within the individuals care plan as well as a step by step plan on that has
been agreed with them on how to move and handle them.

procedures, and never carry out any procedure you have not been trained to do and do not use

3:4 Describe actions to take in relation to identified risks.
All identified risks should be reported to the nurse or the line manager on duty so it can be
corrected/amended and a new risk assessment can be put in place. This also should be documented
appropriately.
3:5 Describe what action should be taken if the individual s wishes conflict with their care plan of care
in relation to health and safety and their risk assessment.
If the individuals wishes conflict with their care plan in relation to health safety and their risk
assessment, you would need to ensure that the individuals wishes were listened to and respected and
that their, your own and others health and safety was not put at risk. Include the individual in the risk
assessment to help prevent conflict from arising, help them feel empowered, the reasons why it is
necessary, that it in place for them as well as the people that are helping them. Ask the individual why
it is that they object/disagree and give them time to explain. Give reassurance and try to reach a

Pulp Fiction Film Analysis
Pulp Fiction is a black comedy crime film written and directed Quentin Tarantino (1994). The film s
narrative follows the unpredictable actions and reflections of two hit men who philosophically
meditate out loud about the Bible, loyalty, and McDonald s hamburgers (Corrigan, White, 368). The
movie goes against the three act structure of classic films as the story is told out of chronological order
making the film so memorable to its viewers. Tarantino s film begins in a coffee shop and also ends in
the same shop. In the beginning of the film, it appears to be a soft, moist, shapeless matter of mass but
as the movie progresses the audience can take away much more from the mundane acts they view on
screen. The film s odd narrative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pulp Fiction employs various devices such as dialogue and visual motifs that provide narrative clarity
and unity along the lines associated with classical Hollywood cinema (Bailey, 52). The dialogue in the
coffee shop indicates that the film has more to do with the mundane aspects of a life of crime than it
does with the glamour, danger, and intrigue typical of thrillers or film noir (Howley). The film s
dialogue can range from absolutely pointless to completely captivating moments. These conversation
establishes character and character relations early in the film in an entertaining fashion. This is
depicted when Vincent and Jules are having a normal conversation about Amsterdam and foot
massages directly before they are about to commit multiple murders. This organic conversation
establishes the characters as reasonably ordinary people to the audience till they arrive at the
apartment and appear stone cold. Tarantino s Pulp Fiction clarity illustrates the style of mundane
versus the extreme. A motif that remains constant in the film is the bathroom. Various of the film s
major events occur while someone is using the restroom. For a majority the film this phenomenon
occurs to Vincent. When he uses the restroom in the diner, Jules has a heart to heart with the robbers,
Pumpkin and Honey Bunny. Next, Vincent is using the bathroom at Mia s and she comes across his
heroin.

The Use Of CKT And Concealed Knowledge Test Methods
The study essentially looked upon different variations and means to figuring out ways on how to catch
lies using alternative CKT or Concealed Knowledge Test methods. This particularly focuses itself on
the recognition of introspective, privileged information using participant reaction scores. Before going
over the actual study, the paper lends itself to explaining what may be considered confounding factors
later shown in the study by listing out problems that might arise with lie detectors. The Lykken study
led to researchers using something called the Guilty Knowledge Test method to acknowledge ways on
how to detect guilt which is referenced in this paper to contribute to said future validity problems.

that led to them gaining hidden information. Using something called probe study, the students were
then randomly assigned either levels of constraints in which they enacted upon the tasks at different
intervals and sessions using something called familiar or unfamiliar methods. As stated earlier,
multiple probe methods were used during the tests varying in degree to the order in which participants
went through the tasks. The students, 36 of them, went through photographs of faces on the photo

After the observations were over, the students were asked questions regarding the faces they ve seen,
specifically any changes in mood and facial structure. As the start of the procedure, this portion was
done so multiple time in reordered sections so as to remove any validation issues, and then moved on
to a rating section wherein they scored the faces based on looks. In the second constraint, the rest of
the participants worked on different words and, like the earlier photo variable, there were students
picked at random to participate in a smaller probe in which they were revealed particular words and
asked to memorize the order in which they were given out. They

Summary Of Helena Maria ViramontesUnder The Feet Of Jesus
In the passage from Under the Feet of Jesus , Helena Maria Viramontes utilizes elements such as
figurative language and selection of detail to document and analyze the development of Estrella s
character throughout the text. The perplexity and distress she feels in school is evident until she
matures by the end of the excerpt demonstrating her newly acquired potential and confidence. These
elements demonstrate how an impoverished immigrant like Estrella learns and realizes to understand
critical, essential aspects and use this to rise above her struggles and be up to par to the teacher s
expectations who deemed her unworthy. Her relationship with Perfecto Flores and his toolbox helps to
guide her to acknowledge the everlasting and infinite value of education and its significance.
Viramontes uses figurative language to compare Estrella s confused and frustrated expression when
she sees things that she doesn t understand or know what they are. She compares the tools and obscure
shaped objects from a toolbox to a foreign language that one does not understand to emphasize the
difficulty that Estrella faces when she comes into contact with these tools with a regular person who
comes into a language that is not native to their own. As the text progresses, she meets Perfecto Flores
who enlightens and educates her on the names and purposes of these tools which proves to be a
pivotal point for Estrella who feels as if she just developed her own language or alphabet . Viramontes

Emile Research Paper
Emile s moral education grounded in nature leads to the cultivation of imagination, which in turn leads
to the transformation of his amour propre. With amour propre one begins to compare themselves to
others and then the desire for attachment is born to provide for the sexual desires. Emile s imagination
allows him to learn from events he sees, which in turn allows him to see himself in the position of
others. By seeing himself as others, Emilie realizes that everyone suffers, not just him, but he also
realizes that he is superior and can help those suffering more than him. Emile s desire for attachment
leads him to Sophie, who allows Emile to transform from what Rousseau refers to as a good man into
a moral man. The goal of Emile s education was to make him fit for society, but not corrupted by
society. Because Emile has been made fit for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Only when Sophie and Emile are together, can either of them be truly moral. By delaying the spark of
imagination, Emile is able to develop his amour propre and fall in love with the idea of his beloved.
The cultivation of Emile s imagination leads to the development of his amour propre, which then leads
to the ability to feel pity, and pity, once generalized to mankind, leads to virtue. The transformation of
Emile into a moral man begins before the marriage of Sophie and Emile, while Emile is away from
Sophie, but the process is completed when Emile follows through on his promise to love Sophie.
The cultivation of Emile s imagination is essential for the development of his amour propre. Rousseau
believes that Emilie should learn from events rather than books. One learns much more from the
conversation with authors than in their books . . . It is the spirit of societies which develops a
thoughtful mind and extends our vision as far as it can go. (Bloom tr., 342). Rousseau believes that

Inhibitory Control
Inhibitory control has been defined as a structure that grants the suppression of actions that are
considered not appropriate (Bjorklund Harnishfeger, 1995). This structure is a weighty component in
completing how mental processes work together in the achievement of a task (Dowsett Livesey,
2000). Older research has suggested that the development of inhibitory control in homo sapiens was a
major factor in the evolution of intelligence (Stenhouse, 1974). Later research further supports this
claim by suggesting that Inhibitory control is important in intelligence (Kochanska, Murray, Jacques,
Koenig, Vandegeest, 1996). Research into inhibitory control has found that Inhibitory control is linked
to impairment in a substantial amount of neurological disorders (Peterson et al., 1998). Inhibitory
control is typically ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Further research on the A not B taskby Diamond (1991) supported the finding that young infants have
poor inhibitory control (Diamond, 1991). Strooping tasks with negative priming have been used to
measure inhibitory control. The findings from this task have suggested that unwanted responses may
be inhibited (Pritchard Neumann, 2009). There have also been other ways to measure inhibitory
control. Among populations where inhibitory control has been found to be impaired, fMRI scans have
been used to measure inhibitory control. For example, fMRI scans have been used to measure
inhibitory control among those with autism (Kana, Keller, Minshew Just, 2007; Agnostou, Sorrya,
Fan, Stamper, Hollander, 2006). Neuroimaging research has also been used among populations where
inhibitory control has been found to be impaired. For example, neuroimaging research was used to
measure inhibitory control among those with ADHD (Castellanos Tannock, 2002; Swansonet al.,
2007).There have been many populations where inhibitory control has been found to be impaired.

truly God and truly man, in whom the divine and human natures are perfectly and inseparably united.
He is the eternal Word made flesh, the only begotten Son of the Father, born of the Virgin Mary by the
power of the Holy Spirit. As ministering servant he lived, suffered and died on the cross. He was

Economic Changes In The South Essay
There were many changes to the South after a long and brutal Civil War. The most significant of these,
was the change to the overall economic system of the South. After Slavery and the cotton industry was
shattered, the South was left with figuring out how to fix a once rich land founded on slavery. The first
example of economic change in the South was in how African Americans began to support themselves
economically. Plantations in the South were virtually workerless after African Americans were
emancipated. Not only that, they were left economically in debt from the destruction caused by the
Civil War. This left the Plantation owners at a loss of ability to function and since most African
Americans didn t want to go back to work for plantation owners, the Black Codes were created. The ...

Sharecropping involved a landlord giving land for tenants to farm for a share of the crop. Tenants
rented this land and were also given supplies by their landlord such as seed, farming equipment and
fertilizer. Of course, these supplies were also rented and often the only person the tenant was allowed
to sell their crop to, was their landlord. The landlord decided what prices were available to the tenant
and how much things cost. Often crops were unpredictable and landlords were very unfair with their
prices. This would leave the tenants in debt that would carry over year after year. This, in a way, tied
the tenants to the land so that they could never leave the landlord and left them in a constant state of
crippling poverty. According to PBS.com, two thirds of all sharecroppers were white and only one
third were black. This of course has room for landlords, but this also implies that some sharecroppers
were white citizens left in complete poverty after the Civil War. Overall, the biggest changes in the
south were clearly economic and did not only affect the African American population, but the

Kant’s Practical Imperative in the Film The Insider Essay
This principle is referred to as Kant s practical imperative and is an important principle for an ethical
system which says that each human being is an end in himself or herself. No human being should be
thought of or used merely as a means for someone else end. Dr. Jeffrey Wigand the main protagonist
of The Insider portrays himself to be a conflicted individual as he makes decisions throughout the

The Globalization Of Globalization
Based on Sparke s textbook, Globalization can be defined as the extension, acceleration, and
intensification of consequential worldwide global interconnections. This is what he refers to as little g
globalization. These global interconnections reveal the ties and tensions of globalization. There is also
big G globalization which is what Sparke calls using globalization as a buzzword in a political
context. A big part of globalization is commodities and commodity chains. A commodity can be
simply defined as anything that is bought or sold while a commodity chain is the production process
that produces these commodities. Understanding commodities and commodity chains is important to
be able to understand globalization. One example of how commodities demonstrate globalization is
outsourcing and offshoring. By doing this, companies bring their companies overseas which means
that they are interconnected with other parts of the world. Understanding commodity chains can also
allow you to understand the ties and tensions. I decided to focus on the apparel industry and the
commodity of a piece of clothing. This commodity shows some of the tensions related to labor, like
constantly searching for the cheapest labor, and tensions related to the environment, like pollution
from the clothing industry. A piece of clothing also shows ties through, for instance, in which
countries clothes are produced and to which countries they are being exported to. The article Indian

you will see challenges as a training ground for what lies ahead. You only get better results when you

Lao Tzu Leadership Analysis
Lao Tzu is considered the Father of Taoism and was searching for an individual s path of natural
goodness. He once said Be the Chief, but never the lord. This quote has been very inspirational to me
throughout my Coast Guard career and has guided me to my definition of Leadership. A lord is given
this title by inheritance or positional power granted by landowners. A Chief is chosen by the village.
The person is selected to make the right decisions for the benefit of the people. It is earned. Based on
my interpretation of Lao Tzu s quote, my definition of leadership is to have others follow by choice
not by mere power. A person cannot rule by force given to them by rank and expect subordinates to
follow. They must demonstrate leading by example and be a role model for others to follow.
Leadership Influences As I reflect back, I have seen my definition in my mentors and supervisors. A
short list of the mentors I revered include: CWO4 Kenneth Hawko, MSTCM Judd Reno, Commander
John Humpage, CWO4 William Thomas, and BMC Mike Hunt. Their leadership seemed to naturally
be in their personalities but I now realize it was so prominent because I saw them as my leaders. Those
traits are what made me choose to follow them.

The Irish Potato Famine and the Population and Social...
The Great Irish Potato Famine was during a period of mass starvation, disease and emigration through
1845 1850. According to the journal, The Context of Migration: The Example of Ireland in the
Nineteenth Century by James H. Johnson, this caused the population of Ireland to decrease 20 25%
and it did not stabilize again until the 1930 s. Although there was a potato crop failure in Europe in the
1840 s, one third of the Irish population was dependent on this crop. This was inevitable due to the
sole dependency of the Irish people on home grown potatoes and the population almost doubling from
1800 1840. The journal, Spaces for Famine: A Comparative Analysis in Ireland and the Highlands in

The average family of around 2 4 children ate approximately 37 pounds of potatoes per day. This

The famine simply overstated their conditions by causing low harvests over a number of years,
therefore lowering population growth. Another document that is also interesting to look at is the
satirical essay A Modest Proposal by the Irishman Jonathan Swift in 1729. Although this is written in
the 18th century we get an early taste for the poor conditions Ireland was in. As stated by English100
Professor Molly Wallace, when this was written, England was very powerful and controlled 90% of
Irish land. The purpose of the satire was to poke fun at the devastating poverty and proposed the idea
that they should eat children to solve their situation. This is important because although it doesn t
directly tie to the Irish Potato Famine from 1845 1850, we get insight to the history of Irish poverty
before. The population of Ireland has been reliant on potatoes for a long time and there are numerous
times when this ultimately rebounds as we see in the 18th century with A Modest Proposal and then
during the Potato Famine with poor harvests. In the journal Irish Migrant Responses to Urban Life in

  • 2. DNAAnd Crime Scene Analysis Each year about 33,000 crimes are solved by DNA database, therefore, showing that DNA has an important element when determining and finding potential suspects who may have committed the crime. DNA, or deoxyribonucleic acid, is a substance that makes up an individual s genetic identity. DNA is found in all organisms, but more the abundance of DNA is found in cells which include a nucleus or nucleated cells ( preservation and collection of biological evidence ). Within a crime scene detectives and officers can use common materials such as tissues, pillows, a bottle, and more. When a detective finds cases in which DNA is present, they can take the samples back to lab to extract and quantify the DNA to see if they can do further analysis on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, since hair is typically made up of the protein, Keratin, it is typically harder to extract DNA from hair. In order to extract DNA from hair it is important to use the follicle of the hair. DNA is easily found in the root and follicle of the hair because it is connected to the blood stream (Heywood, 21 22). When attempting to extract the DNA from the hair, forensics attempt to wash out all of the protein, therefore, the only thing left is the pure DNA sample. However, there is not a 100% chance that protein will be washed out completely, meaning that there is a chance that DNA could be contaminated, in other words the DNA would be hard to read and find a yield. In addition, due to this fact the average success rate of yielding DNA from hair is 60 70% ( A Simple Method of Genomic DNA Extraction from Human Samples for PCR RFLP Analysis ). However, unlike hair cells, cheek cells are much simpler to extract DNA from. This is due to the fact that the tissue inside of your mouth, contains a lot of available DNA when the area is shedded (Smith, 43). When the popsicle stick is rubbed along the tissue it allows for cells to be shedded, therefore it is easy to obtain the cells, when one rinses saline buffer inside of the mouth and spits back into a microcentrifuge tube (Smith, ... • 3. The Theory Of Social Life Theory Paper Throughout my social life I ve had many different experiences with different races and ethnicities that relate to the ethnic related theories. I feel as if most of my encounters follow the assimilation perspective. I know specific events and encounters but, it s easy to just observe these things happening in your surroundings. The pluralist theory is pretty much the complete opposite of the assimilation theory. In this theory the certain group doesn t conform to society but, they celebrate their ethnic traditions. They are not ashamed of their culture; they are proud and want to display their enthusiasm about it. The last theory are the power and stratification theories. These are more of a structural problem that affects the whole ethnic group but; I know certain people that have to go through these struggles. My social life consists with different events that coordinate with some of the ethnic related theories. I wouldn t call the slice of my social life terribly diverse, but I have been exposed to different races and ethnicities. I come from a quaint little town in the suburbs of Cleveland called Painesville. The demographics of the city part of this township area is almost evenly split between Hispanics and Caucasians with a higher percent of people belonging in these race groups, while African Americans come in next then carried out with different races and ethnicities to fill out the makeup of the township. • 4. Animals In The Trojan War As we discussed in class, the Iliad s mortals lie between gods and animals in their thoughts and actions, and often struggle to overcome their baser instincts in the pursuit of god like wisdom and power. However, the events of the Trojan War paradoxically suggest that in order to attain divine glory heroes must become increasingly bestial, slowly losing their humanity as the battle drags on. Homer makes the inhuman ferocity of his heroes obvious, most notably in frequent similes comparing various fighters to predators. These comparisons are more frequent and violent as the war escalates. During the peak of Agamemnon s fury in battle, he is compared to a lion [seizing] the innocent young of the running deer...and [ripping] out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the Achaians and the Trojans place high value on honor earned in battle, multiple characters comment on the futility of war. While in combat, Menelaos angrily declares that the Trojans will never be satisfied with their accomplishments in war, directly contrasting it with more humane activities such as song and dance. Even Achilleus admits, There [is] no gratitude given for fighting incessantly forever against your enemies...A man dies still if he has done nothing, as one who has done much (9.316 318). However, the heroes recognition of the wasteful, unending nature of war is ultimately meaningless, as emotion drives them to fight even when logic would tell them to turn back. This is what separates the humans from the gods gods have some control over their emotions, while humans, like animals, are completely beholden to them. This contrast is clearest in Book 16, where Zeus ultimately masters his own sadness over his son Sarpedon s impending death and allows fate to take its course, while Patroklos, in a huge blind fury (16.685), forgets Achilleus s orders and pursues the Trojans, leading to his demise. Thus, the human heroes lead a fundamentally tragic existence they, like animals, are increasingly controlled by their instincts and emotions as the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cuban Holidays This past summer I had the opportunity to travel to a place where the people and food were amazing, the buildings and artwork outstanding, the weather hot and the politics, well interesting this was Cuba. Arrival: 48 minutes. That s how long it took for our group of excited students and chaperones to leave Miami and touch down in a place that has not been legally allowed to host Americans for over 50 years. As I stepped off the plane my heart pounded, I realized I was in Cuba. I was ready to explore, but first Customs. Customs: Where is it? He wrote this book and was a servant and Apostle of Jesus Christ. The Epistle of Peter, also known as 2nd Peter was written somewhere between 64 A.D and 66 AD. Peter believed his death was near and inevitable during the time of his writings. 2nd Peter is different from 1st epistle that was written. Peters communication was to strengthen the church in his first letters. His second epistle was dedicated to warning of false teachers, and those who were in the church as well. It is believed that these writings were written near the end of Peters life. The intended audience for Peter was Asia Minor. The purpose of 2nd Peter was to call to Christian growth, condemnation of false teachers, the persecution and sufferings and having confidence in Christ return. There are similarities between the book of Jude. (Jude 4 18 and 2nd Peter 2). Jude and Peter are so parallel that some have questioned which one was written first. • 10. Negative Effects Of Advertising In Advertising Over $10.7 trillion were spent by American consumers in 2011 (mentalfloss.com). To put that into perspective, with that amount of money, you could buy over thirteen trillion full size Hershey s bars, almost 450 million family cars, or cover the incomes of almost 205 million US families (kiplinger.com)! So, how exactly do companies get consumers to spend that much? Advertising! And it s not simply showing consumers what products or services these companies have to offer. In many cases, marketers lure consumers into buying from them by relying on common advertising traps. The first common trap is to tug on the heartstrings of Americans. Companies frequently create advertising that portrays people or animals dealing with difficult situations and asks the viewer for money to improve their lives. A real world example of this type of advertising is the numerous commercials produced by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, or ASPCA. Most of their ads focus on an abandoned animal that shows obvious signs of neglect in order to encourage the viewer to empathize with the animal and donate money for their cause. Many people end up donating when they see ads like this because they may feel guilty about not helping another person or animal in need when they have the chance to do so or they may feel that their donations can directly help end the other person s or animal s suffering. The next ploy Americans fall for is the use of term free. Advertisers use the word free to create the illusion that the consumer is getting a great deal in order to encourage them to buy something they may not had wanted to buy in the first place. After all, who would not want something for free? But usually in order to get something free, the consumer must first meet certain conditions. For example, in order to qualify for free shipping on Amazon, you must spend a minimum of $25. Because the shipping and handling fee is so high, many people who only had planned to buy one or two cheap items end up shopping for additional items that they had not intended to buy just to get the free shipping. So, in many cases they end up spending more money with the free shipping than if they just bought the item they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One election in America which metaphorically caused a civil war was the election between Donald J. Trump and Hilary Clinton. Birth of a Nation has a lot of scenes the movie itself is 3 hours long however in one specific scene D.W. Griffith manages to incorporate many modern filmmaking techniques. The scene in which Flora goes to retrieve water and is abruptly met by Gus incorporates many modern techniques. In this scene we see the use of close up shots to focus on character reactions from both Gus and Flora. We also see the use of close ups to focus on objects other characters are looking at such as Flora looking at a squirrel in a tree. Finally, we also see the use of natural lighting in this scene as the entirety of the scene is shot outside. The film consistently perpetuates stereotypes that the African American community are less than human and more like animals. This is done through how they act, the film itself depicts them as being uncivilized. As the start of the procedure, this portion was done so multiple time in reordered sections so as to remove any validation issues, and then moved on to a rating section wherein they scored the faces based on looks. • 28. Summary Of Helena Maria ViramontesUnder The Feet Of Jesus In the passage from Under the Feet of Jesus , Helena Maria Viramontes utilizes elements such as figurative language and selection of detail to document and analyze the development of Estrella s character throughout the text. The perplexity and distress she feels in school is evident until she matures by the end of the excerpt demonstrating her newly acquired potential and confidence. These elements demonstrate how an impoverished immigrant like Estrella learns and realizes to understand critical, essential aspects and use this to rise above her struggles and be up to par to the teacher s expectations who deemed her unworthy. Her relationship with Perfecto Flores and his toolbox helps to guide her to acknowledge the everlasting and infinite value of education and its significance. Viramontes uses figurative language to compare Estrella s confused and frustrated expression when she sees things that she doesn t understand or know what they are. She compares the tools and obscure shaped objects from a toolbox to a foreign language that one does not understand to emphasize the difficulty that Estrella faces when she comes into contact with these tools with a regular person who comes into a language that is not native to their own. As the text progresses, she meets Perfecto Flores who enlightens and educates her on the names and purposes of these tools which proves to be a pivotal point for Estrella who feels as if she just developed her own language or alphabet . With amour propre one begins to compare themselves to others and then the desire for attachment is born to provide for the sexual desires. Emile s imagination allows him to learn from events he sees, which in turn allows him to see himself in the position of others. By seeing himself as others, Emilie realizes that everyone suffers, not just him, but he also realizes that he is superior and can help those suffering more than him. Emile s desire for attachment leads him to Sophie, who allows Emile to transform from what Rousseau refers to as a good man into a moral man. Only when Sophie and Emile are together, can either of them be truly moral. By delaying the spark of imagination, Emile is able to develop his amour propre and fall in love with the idea of his beloved. The cultivation of Emile s imagination leads to the development of his amour propre, which then leads to the ability to feel pity, and pity, once generalized to mankind, leads to virtue. The transformation of Emile into a moral man begins before the marriage of Sophie and Emile, while Emile is away from Sophie, but the process is completed when Emile follows through on his promise to love Sophie. The cultivation of Emile s imagination is essential for the development of his amour propre. Rousseau believes that Emilie should learn from events rather than books. This structure is a weighty component in completing how mental processes work together in the achievement of a task (Dowsett Livesey, 2000). Older research has suggested that the development of inhibitory control in homo sapiens was a major factor in the evolution of intelligence (Stenhouse, 1974). Later research further supports this claim by suggesting that Inhibitory control is important in intelligence (Kochanska, Murray, Jacques, Koenig, Vandegeest, 1996). There have also been other ways to measure inhibitory control. Among populations where inhibitory control has been found to be impaired, fMRI scans have been used to measure inhibitory control. For example, fMRI scans have been used to measure inhibitory control among those with autism (Kana, Keller, Minshew Just, 2007; Agnostou, Sorrya, Fan, Stamper, Hollander, 2006). The most significant of these, was the change to the overall economic system of the South. After Slavery and the cotton industry was shattered, the South was left with figuring out how to fix a once rich land founded on slavery. The first example of economic change in the South was in how African Americans began to support themselves economically. Plantations in the South were virtually workerless after African Americans were emancipated. Not only that, they were left economically in debt from the destruction caused by the Civil War. This left the Plantation owners at a loss of ability to function and since most African Americans didn t want to go back to work for plantation owners, the Black Codes were created. The ... Tenants rented this land and were also given supplies by their landlord such as seed, farming equipment and fertilizer. Of course, these supplies were also rented and often the only person the tenant was allowed to sell their crop to, was their landlord. The landlord decided what prices were available to the tenant and how much things cost. Often crops were unpredictable and landlords were very unfair with their prices. This would leave the tenants in debt that would carry over year after year. This, in a way, tied the tenants to the land so that they could never leave the landlord and left them in a constant state of crippling poverty. According to PBS.com, two thirds of all sharecroppers were white and only one third were black. This of course has room for landlords, but this also implies that some sharecroppers were white citizens left in complete poverty after the Civil War. The Globalization Of Globalization Based on Sparke s textbook, Globalization can be defined as the extension, acceleration, and intensification of consequential worldwide global interconnections. This is what he refers to as little g globalization. These global interconnections reveal the ties and tensions of globalization. There is also big G globalization which is what Sparke calls using globalization as a buzzword in a political context. A big part of globalization is commodities and commodity chains. A commodity can be simply defined as anything that is bought or sold while a commodity chain is the production process that produces these commodities. Understanding commodities and commodity chains is important to be able to understand globalization. One example of how commodities demonstrate globalization is outsourcing and offshoring. By doing this, companies bring their companies overseas which means that they are interconnected with other parts of the world. Understanding commodity chains can also allow you to understand the ties and tensions. I decided to focus on the apparel industry and the commodity of a piece of clothing. This commodity shows some of the tensions related to labor, like constantly searching for the cheapest labor, and tensions related to the environment, like pollution from the clothing industry. This quote has been very inspirational to me throughout my Coast Guard career and has guided me to my definition of Leadership. A lord is given this title by inheritance or positional power granted by landowners. A Chief is chosen by the village. The person is selected to make the right decisions for the benefit of the people. It is earned. Based on my interpretation of Lao Tzu s quote, my definition of leadership is to have others follow by choice not by mere power. A person cannot rule by force given to them by rank and expect subordinates to follow. They must demonstrate leading by example and be a role model for others to follow. Leadership Influences As I reflect back, I have seen my definition in my mentors and supervisors. A short list of the mentors I revered include: CWO4 Kenneth Hawko, MSTCM Judd Reno, Commander John Humpage, CWO4 William Thomas, and BMC Mike Hunt. Their leadership seemed to naturally be in their personalities but I now realize it was so prominent because I saw them as my leaders. Those traits are what made me choose to follow them. Although there was a potato crop failure in Europe in the 1840 s, one third of the Irish population was dependent on this crop. This was inevitable due to the sole dependency of the Irish people on home grown potatoes and the population almost doubling from 1800 1840.
