Desai very carefully handles the themes of racial discrimination, migration ,political turmoil and class
discrimination. The novel provides us with some of the historical facts and the beautiful imagery
which makes us familiar with the geographical details of Nepal. We can easily draw similarities
between the novel and a movie. Just like a movie the novel deals with many characters and there is a
change in scenes within a chapter. It keeps moving back and forth in time which makes it more
interesting. The narrative techniques used by the author enhances the whole reading experience. The
novel traces the development of the characters and ends the story in positive

The Health Of American Politics Essay
The Health of American Politics/Democracy In this paper, I am going to write about two topics which
they are the American politics and the American democracy. I am going to discuss one issue regarding
each topic. In the topic of American politics, I will describe the negative impact of the Israeli lobby on
the American Politic. After that, I will describe the negative impact of the electoral college system on
the American democracy. The Israeli lobby and the electoral college system are affecting the health of
American politics and democracy negatively. In the past few decades till now, the United States
foreign policies were an important factor to deal with many issues around the globe. Starting from the
Security Council ending with the country policy, the United States has made many decisions that took
negative effect on the country s security and its relations with other countries. The reason behind these
negative effect is the United States foreign policies especially toward the Middle East. These policies
are greatly affected by the Israeli lobby in the United States. As John J. Mearsheimer, a professor of
Political Science and the co director of the Program on International Security Policy at the University
of Chicago and Stephen Walt, a professor of international affairs at Harvard University s John F.
Kennedy School of Government, mentioned in a documentary published by London Review of Books

The Crimes Of The Criminal Justice System
When it comes being committed using technology, there are different types of crimes that can be
committed. These crimes have been traditionally defined as either computer crimes or cybercrimes.
The distinction in the two types of crimes seems to focus primarily on whether the crime can be
committed without the use of technology and if the computer itself was actively involved with the
crime. However, both types have created issues with the criminal justice system with how criminals
are committing their crimes, the difficulties in law enforcement performing their duties, and the
increased pool or potential targets and victims. Cybercrime is defined as any crime that involves
computers and networks, including crimes that do not rely heavily on computers (Choi, 3).
Cybercrime also consists of crimes that are illegal when committed without the use of technology
(Choi, 3). These types of crimes range from cyberbullying, exploitation of children, and online
harassment (Moore, 4). The types of crimes can be committed without the use of technology, but have
become more prevalent due to how more easy the crimes are to commit with the use of technology.
Child exploitation is a prime example as it is growing at a fast rate due to the opportunities online.
Child exploitation is a growing issue online as there are numerous avenues that offenders can use to
meet their perverse needs. There is the traditional avenue of sharing child exploitation material
through email or P2P

White Matter
Brain consists of white matter and gray matter. While gray matter of brain contains nerve cells, white
matter of brain contains nerve fibers and myelin. Nerve fibers connect the nerve cells and myelin
covers the nerve fibers. Myelin is responsible for conduction of impulses. It also helps in insulation
which prevents short circuits.

After detection of the mental illness, further tests are performed to determine the cause. White matter
disease may be caused due to autoimmune disease. White matter disorder varies depending on
location of damage or severity of the disease. Patients can consult neurologist for diagnosing the white
matter disorder.
White matter disease may be the result of genetic variation. Infection, stroke and head injury may also
cause white matter disease. Research studies suggest that white matter of brain may be related to
mental illness like bipolar disorder. Various tools and advanced techniques are available to detect the
mental illness and the location of white matter disease in brain.
White matter disorder
White matter disorder is a disease which occurs due to lack of white matter surrounding the nerve
fibers in the brain. It is a mental illness that occurs in childhood. White matter disorder can be
diagnosed with the help of MRI. Disease involving white matter is called as white matter disorder.
Medications and physical therapy are used to treat the mental illness. To prevent progressive mental
illness from damaging the brain functioning, prevention plan to deal with the mental illness should be
prepared beforehand.

The Violation Of Miranda Rights
Mr. Knight s statements to officers in the patrol car cannot be suppressed for violation of Miranda
rights because he was neither in custody not subjected to an interrogation. To suppress a statement
under the Fifth Amendment for violation of Miranda rights, (1) the suspect must be in custody of law
enforcement officials and (2) subjected to interrogation (3) without being first provided Miranda
warnings. United States v. Brownlee, 454 F.3d 131, 4 (3d Cir. 2006) (citing Rhode Island v. Innis, 446
U.S. 291 (1980)). Here, the police officers that detained Mr. Knight are law enforcement officials;
however, Mr. Knight was not in custody because he was stopped for a short and temporary amount of
time, and the officers explicitly told him that he would be free to go after completing the traffic
summons paperwork. Additionally, Mr. Knight s incriminating statements during his detention were
not the product of an interrogation because they were voluntary and not reasonably foreseeable by
Officer Davis. Consequently, Mr. Knight did not require a Miranda warning, meaning his
incriminating statements in the patrol car cannot be suppressed under the Fifth Amendment.

Examples Of Dualism In Star Trek
In the Star Trek episode that was viewed, it turns into a question if Data should have the authority to
choose if he can be knocked down as an approach for his friends to learn more about him. Maddox
signals Data on it and has a disagreement that the technology perhaps is used to establish a force of
androids that would support their search farther. Everybody who sees this episode realizes that Data
appears and operates like a natural and ordinary human. A dualism aspect is presented when Captain
Picard mentions that he thinks that Data has the option to say no to being disassembled. According to
Hasker (1983), Dualism begins by taking quite seriously that human beings have both physical
properties and mental properties (Husker, 1983). He continues by observing that this is opposed to
other assumptions like that of idealism and behaviorism which weaken the two together into one.
(Hasker, 1983). Dualism is made clear more when Hasker states that, physical properties are
properties of the body, while mental properties are properties of the mind, (Hasker, 1983). Picard
applies dualism to illustrate that Data is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Materialism does not deny that humans have both mental and physical attributes but says that both are
attributes of the same thing namely, the living human organism (Hasker, 1983, p.69 70). Maddox
could be arguing whether Data or any other computer, is able really to think as opposed to simulating
thought processes (p. 70). Knowing this is what Maddox uses to deny that Data even has a soul, he
believes that Data is the property of Starfleet and can be used as they see fit. This means that Data
does not have free will and therefore does not have the right to refuse being disassembled and cannot
quit from Starfleet. It is said in the chapter by Maddox and Commander Riker that Data is just a group
of chips, wires, and programming, and only looks

Essay on Live Evaluation of 39 Steps
Evaluation of a live performance:
The performance I went to see was The 39 Steps on the 25th of March, at the Criterion Theatre in
London, it s produced by Gaumont British.
The original 39 steps was an action spy novel written by John Buchan in 1915. Then Alfred Hitchcock
produced a film, then the play was written and when I first saw the play it was a bit of a shock seeing
as the book and film are set as thrillers and the play is very much a comedy.
The play is set in 1914 and Europe is on the brink of war. The main protagonist Richard Hannay is
bored with life, until he runs into a mysterious German woman names Annabella Schmidt at the
theatre. Richard then takes the woman home with him and she reveals that she is tracking down ...

This I thought was a very different, but clever way of expressing large scenes. Occasionally a follow
spot was used to highlight some parts of the of the play for comical effect. At the beginning Richard is
asked to look out the window by Annabella and when he does two actors run on stage with a lamp
post and as soon as they are on the spot light is on and when they leave it s off again, they did this to
give a sense of perspective from the window to the street and also to take the mick out of classic
thrillers.
The set and props where very compact and were built and moved on and off by the cast because they
are designed to be transferred by one person. The props where all cleverly done, for instance they
made a bridge out of three ladders, a train out of four boxes and a house from just one door. The door I
thought was one of the best props used because the cast managed to make a fairly small stage appear
huge just by moving the door and pretending each time that it was a new room every time they passed
through it. At one point in the play Richard and Pamela ask the scottish landlords for a sandwich and
they come back with a loaf of bread cut in two with one slice of lettuce in the middle, this was such a
simple idea but made a big deal and a laugh out of it
The rhythm of the production was extremely fast paced due to the size of the cast and comedy. The
costumes helped speeding up the pace with changes

The Manchurian Candidate by Johnathan Demme Essay
The Manchurian Candidate, Johnathan Demme directed the remake. Both films portray paranoia,
mind control, and conspiracy. Frankenheimer utilizes satire, humor, and symbolism to convey the
themes, whereas, Demme uses modern fears, camera angles and focus, and mental illness to achieve
similar results. Many of the elements of the 2004 remake have been modernized. While the original
movie placed the soldiers in Korea, the remake placed them in Kuwait. Demme did changed the
location of the war, in order to appeal to current fears and suspicions. In 1962, the threat of
communism was at the forefront of everyone s thoughts. However, during 2004, only three years after
the 9/11 terrorist attacks, citizens were no longer concerned about ... Show more content on

The film switches between perspectives of the ladies garden party and the communist officials to
stress the comic surrealism of the situation. The calm and genteel ladies garden party is a stark
contrast to the evil plotting of the communists. Image overlay as well as soft lighting are also used to
convey the surrealism and dreamlike quality. The absurd way that Eleanor s husband, Senator Iselin,
presents the supposed number (which he is constantly changing) of communists in the state
department, satirizes the Red Scare and McCarthyism. Many of the accused communists during the
red scare were merely from wild speculation caused by irrational fear and political movements to get
rid of the opposition. It was also ironic that Eleanor, who had her husband present the fake number of
communists, was actually the communist herself. The role of a mother is also satirized in the film. The
1950 s portrayed mothers as pure and wholesome, however Eleanor is portrayed as the evil and
conniving perpetrator of peril. The remake focused on keeping the audience and Major Marco in a
constant state of paranoia and uncertainty. In the original movie, the audience is shown, as well as told
by the narrator, that the platoon was captured and brainwashed by communists. Whereas, in the
remake, Major Marco and the

The implications of the war experiences had on post war living was mass amounts of unemployment
only the lucky few people were able to find jobs depending on their trade and if they were hiring for
that trade. The men therefore could not properly provide food for their families even if they had a job
because the pay was so low due to Italy having to use a lot of their money in the war and increases in
taxes to help rebuild the country after it. Living in old destroyed buildings that were dirty and about to
fall apart and the rest of their city due to strikes and bombings during the war.
In Bicycle thieves people were resorting to stealing and robbing, criminal activities just to get by in
life that is how harsh the reality was. Antonio s bike was stolen by a bunch of thieves while he was
working putting up his posters. When he went to chase one of the guy s co stealers took him in the

Descartes Epistemology
Epistemology
Carefully explain Descartes cogito and his attempt to build his knowledge structure from the ground
up. (Be as succinct as possible.) Does Descartes succeed or fail in that attempt? Justify your answer in
full.
Descartes Epistemology
This essay attempts to explain Descartes epistemology of his knowledge, his Cogito, Ergo Sum
concept (found in the Meditations), and why he used it [the cogito concept] as a foundation when
building his structure of knowledge. After explaining the concept I give a brief evaluation of his
success in introducing and using this cogito as a foundation. Finally, I provide reasons why I think
Descartes succeeded in his epistemology.
The First ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The argument, as Descartes presented, does not give a valid reason for the existence of the body or
anything else in the physical world, so we cannot accept that bodies exist. Neither does the cogito
account for the existence of other minds as that would entail knowledge of the physical world where
other things exist. The cogito concept does however; give a valid argument for the existence of the
mind or a thinking thing that exists independently of the body. In his novel Think, Blackburn explains
the cogito concept as a means of justifying the core of one s existence as thinking, we accept that
thought exists not a self (Blackburn, 2001:20). I agree with Blackburn because his [Descartes ]
concept serves well to prove that we exist as thinking things and even if we were to discard any a
priori or a posteriori knowledge, we can still endorse the cogito. The cogito concept stands regardless
of empirical knowledge because it suggests the existence of thought without actually linking it to the
body (which constitutes a sort of empirical way of acquiring knowledge through the senses). In
addition, it can be accepted without any a priori knowledge since Descartes only introduced it after
concluding that he knew nothing, and could only accept knowledge of his own existence as
vindicated.
To assess Descartes choice of foundation I will raise some questions that implore an explanation

Rhetorical Analysis Of Michelle Mibama Speech
Rhetorical Analysis Essay: Michelle vs. Melania
On August 25th of the year 2008, Michelle Obama gave an outstanding speech at the Democratic
National Convention. In her speech she talks about her husband s progress in the election as well as
his background, political experience, and social activism. She also talks about her upbringings as well
as Barack s. Eight years later, Donald Trump is running for president and his wife Melania has the
honors of giving a speech at the Republican National Convention. In Melania s speech she as well
speaks on how deserving her husband is of being the president and she also talks about her
upbringings. About three minute into her speech you start to hear word for word the same exact things
Michelle Obama said in her speech eight years ago. Both of their purposes were to convey the idea
that their husbands would make a great leader, but why were the speeches so similar. The purpose of
this essay is to examine how the two speeches given were rhetorically different in regards to
arrangement, style and delivery. Michelle Obama s use of rhetoric was very powerful in her speech.
She used lots of good communication and gestures such as: gave eye contact to her audience and used
body languages during the course of her speech. She also widely covered the usage of three appeals
throughout her speech. Michelle used ethos when telling her audience the service Barack Obama had
done
Beverley 2 while he was in Illinois. Pathos was used when she gave hope and remembrance to the
American Dream despite the predicaments people deal with in this country. She really touched the
audience s emotional side when she began to talk about her upbringings in the hearts of Chicago. Even
though there wasn t much statistical information given during the speech, Michelle made sure the
audience knew Barack Obama was suited to be president which covered logos. She talked about
Barack s involvements within the communities and demonstrating his dedication to support her idea
that he would make a great president. Michelles appearance was very simple but classy. During this
speech she wore a simple green dress that didn t draw attention away from her main purpose. She
spoke with a strong tone, but

The Takers And The Leavers By Daniel Quinn
The story begins with Daniel Quinn writing about a day in his life, until he comes upon an absurd
advertisement in the personals section of the newspaper: TEACHER seeks pupil. Must have an earnest
desire to save the world. Apply in person. Suspicious, Quinn investigates this advertisement with
intentions of exposing fraud. Instead, he discovers Ishmael in Room 105 of a undistinguished office
building. Sitting calmly, Ishmael gently nibbled on a slender branch. Appalled, Quinn stumbled
towards the chair. Ishmael and Quinn gazed into each other s eyes, and much to his disgruntlement,
the glowing eyes spoke to him. Nodding his head to the unspoken question, Ishmael quietly said, I am
the teacher. Ishmael explains that Quinn is part of a culture, that results in him being taught certain
stories between the relationships of man, the world, and the Gods. These explanations will be made
clearer to the pupil by being assisted in recognizing why the stories are misleading. Ishmael s goal will
show the narrator that human history comes from two groups, the Takers and the Leavers. These
groups legislate two completely different stories about man, the world, and the Gods. Takers are the
humans who developed agriculture and civilization, who still dominate on Earth today. The Leavers,
in contradiction, are those who don t adopt agricultural practices and disregard the benefits of
civilization.

His constant use of reflections and vertical framing helps the audience to interpret the change of the
characters identities. Mirrors make for a visual confusion and could cause the audience to question
whether what they are seeing is reality or simply a reflection. Vertical framing and multiple images of
characters create an aesthetic view of characters identity and through film language visually portrays
them as trapped within the change and confusion of the cities identity as well as their own.
The repeated theme of expiry helps Wong Kar wai to emphasise the anxiety of the expected changes
for Hong Kong in the 1990 s. His constant referencing to objects and arrangements expiring is shown
through his choice of props and framing devices. The pineapple that 223 buys is an example of this
theme, as well as the plane ticket that Faye gives to 663 with an expiry date of a year from that point.
This constant reminder of expiration reminds us of the countdown to 1997, the Handover to China.
This fear of change is also reinforced through the element of the future and the fact that the narrator
can see outside of the film and tell the audience that things will change for Hong Kong and therefore
the characters lives also, highlighting the characters anxiety and fear of the change that they are all
expecting however having to learn how to accept it.

Chemical Reaction On Chemical Kinetics

Chemical Kinetics
Objective:
This experiment runs many reactions varying the concentrations of the reactants in order to determine
the order for each component and the rate constant.
Introduction:
Chemical kinetics is the study of how fast a chemical reaction occurs and the factors that affect the
speed of reaction.1 Reaction rates are the measure of how much the concentration of reactants change
during a given reaction.1 The rate of change of the reactants, Rate = Δ [X]/Δt, is related to the slope of
the concentration vs. time graph.1 From observing reaction rates, the overall order of the reaction and
the rate constant can be calculated by using the integrated rate laws. For a zero order reaction, the rate
law can be written as [A]t = kt + [A]0, where [A]t is the concentration at a given time, k is the
negative slope, t is the time, and [A]0 is the initial concentration.2 Using the same variables, a first
order reaction can be written as ln[A]t = kt + ln[A]0 and a second order can be written as 1/[A]t = kt +

the line to be calculated. The R2 value is used in determining the order of the reaction. The closer the
R2 value is to 1, the more likely that the graph displays the correct reaction order. The y=mx+b

The Dark Ages And The Fall Of The Middle Ages
The Middle Ages or Medieval Ages is the time period in Europe between the fall of Rome and the
beginning of the Renaissance (History). For this paper it will be referred to as the Middle Ages. This
time is also sometimes described as the Dark Ages by some because of some of the bad events that
happened and because they say nothing of importance came out of the time period. It is true Rome
fell, there were many wars which caused many to die, a shortage of food that caused many to die and
an awful sickness that caused many people to die. Despite The Great Famine, The Plague and the fall
of Rome during the medieval time period, it should not be known as the dark ages due to the
architecture, art, and both educational and the technological advancements that came to be during this
time.
Was it the invasions of the Barbarian tribes, economic troubles, disputes on slave labor,
overexpansion, the military problems, government corruption, political instability, or the spread of
Christianity that took down the Rome Empire (History)? Many different reasons with many different
answers, however, the Roman Empire did fall and we were left with what we call the Middle Ages.
There have been many movies, books and papers written on the subject. One thing I find is a for sure
fact is that after the fall of Rome there was no state or government for the people in Europe and that s
how the Catholic Church became the most powerful institution in the Middle Age time
period(History).

Alicia Donovan s My Life Essay
Alicia Donovan leans causally against the railing of her grandmother s porch, smoldering cigarette in
hand, watching the cars and passerbys going up and down Mount Pleasant Avenue in Providence. A
beat up Chevrolet with blasting rap music slows down and Donovan exchanges good natured insults
with the four or five boys inside. Teasingly, she makes and obscene gesture and the car takes off up the
street, leaving the air thick with the distinct smell of muffler smoke and the fading strains of DMX. As
they disappear out of sight, she shakes her head and chuckles slightly, obviously struck by some funny
thought that she s not about to share. Watching this nonchalant blonde, no one would ever guess she
carries the stigma of a childhood marked my tragedy and trauma. Alicia looks right at home in front of
the shabby, grey tenement which she shares with her grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. Unlike
most of the girls today, she s not trying to be trendy or fashionable. She has on a plain white T shirt,
worn from unsuccessful attempts to get out its numerous stains, and a pair ofjeans which are slightly
ripped in the knees. Turning her attention away from the view, she runs her hands through her tousled
hair and drops into one of the porch s slightly rusted aluminum chairs. Well let s do this, she says with
a good natured shrug, so whatcha got for me? Alicia wipes the trademark grin off her face and gains a
serious, thoughtful expression as she begins to listen. It s

Conspiracy Theories Behind Marilyn Monroe s Death
The news of Marilyn Monroe s death began to spread. Newspapers were seen everywhere with her
bright, smiling face and the giant, bolded letters of death stamped on the front pages. Even The New
York Times published a newspaper article titled Marilyn Monroe Dead, Pills Near. In this article, Dr.
Theodore J. Curphey, the coroner, declares Monroe s death to have not been from natural causes: After
an autopsy the Los Angeles coroner reported that Miss Monroe s was not a natural death. He attributed
it to a drug ( Marilyn Monroe Dead, Pills Near ). Her death seemed to be the typical case of
overdosing on barbiturates with traces of chloral hydrate which are both sedatives or sleeping pills
(Los Angeles County Coroner s Mortuary, 1962). There ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is no actual confirmation besides untrustworthy gossip that Marilyn Monroe succeeded past
those attempted phone calls. Her calls to Washington were never accepted, she was always sent to
voicemail. Even if it were true; if she did manage to make contact and had an affair with either/both of
the Kennedy s, her autopsy report negates any sort of foul play. Expert medical examiner Dr. Judy
Melinek confirms that Monroe s autopsy aligns with the signs of self induced overdosed. Any sort of
needle or forced injection would have been spotted by the coroner immediately, If drugs are injected
by a needle you can typically see a needle puncture mark in the location of the injection, and this
would be more likely to be visible if they were injected against the will of the person, as they would
be fighting/resisting (Melinek, 2018). Dr. Melinek also points out that it would be quite normal that no
residue from the medication would have been found in Monroe s stomach if enough time between her
death and her arrival to the morgue had passed, The absence of residue found in the stomach does not
mean the drugs were not ingested. Drugs are designed to dissolve in the fluid and acidic stomach
contents and no residue would be detected within several hours of ingestion (Melinek, 2018). With
this expert testimony confirming Marilyn Monroe s autopsy reports as legitimate leaves the official
cause of death by possible suicide by overdose as

You have Retinitis Pigmentosa Doctor Marvel told his patient, Dorothy. What is Retinitis Pigmentosa?
She asked in a shaky voice. It s an inherited, incurable disease in the Retina. What s the Retina?
to simplify it is a membrane that helps you see. What does this mean? Eventually you ll go blind
Dorothy is shocked to fmd out, but she makes the best of it. Day by day, she is slowly getting blinder
and blinder. One day when she is driving home from work, she doesn t see the
roundabout ahead, but luckily she memorized the way. At the roundabout she started to turn. Then she
turned too far and crashed into the middle of the roundabout. In the middle was a fountain, she came
in at 52 miles per hour, because she was on the highway, Dorothy died from the crash.
As mentioned earlier the retina is a membrane in the eye. One of the seven layers is called: Rods and

Crop Pollination By Bees Book Report
Crop Pollination by Bees expresses the history and nature of the western honey bee and the pollination
of solitary bees. The book highlights the importance of using bees as natural pollinators, why it aids
the population of bees, and how the use of bee pollination can result in finer crops. According to the
article, research from Washington and British Columbia showed that optimizing honey bee pollination
resulted in:
Increased fruit size in pears which translated to a US$162 427 acre 1 (US$400 $1055 ha 1) increase in
farmgate revenue a 41% increase in cranberry yield with with a US$3564 acre 1 (US$8804 ha 1)

Pitts Singer provided me with very helpful information about the impact of UV levels within
Greenhouses and how they may affect the behavior of bees. This gave me insight on what i might
expect to observe from the bees. Benefits of having low transmission of UV is that it will ward off
harmful pests within the greenhouse. Unfortunately UV is an aiding factor of the bees vision and
orientation. Under glass with a good UV transmission (up to 80%), bees behave normally. Under PVC
or PC, with a very low UV transmission (less than 3%), they perform poorly, at least until they learn to
cope with the lack of UV vision ( Rosalind James and Theresa L. Pitts Singer, 2008) Because of this
article i was able to pinpoint key factors that may cause the bees to struggle, for example, the book
addresses that high humidity within greenhouses may be an inconvenience to the bees and may affect
pollination levels. In order to fix this, we must alter the light permeability and circulation within the
greenhouse. It also recommends having a sufficient floral supply when using solitary bees in order to
warrant successful reproduction. Failure to provide a floral resource for active bees decreases the
reproductive success of bees and, in some cases, may cause them to leave the crop vicinity in search
of alternative forage ( Rosalind James and Theresa L. Pitts Singer, 2008, ch.1,

Book Thief Rudy
Throughout the novel The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak, Rudy Steiner has shown his heroic
capability by continuously putting other s needs before his own. His interminable behavior towards
the less fortunate, Liesel, and many different characters demonstrates his boldness and bravery to help
others, just as a hero would do. From the beginning of the book, you can infer that Rudy is an
altruistic character from his actions of defending Liesel in front of her classmates (page 51), to feeding
the undesirable Jews on the streets of Molching (page 440). Therefore, under all of these
circumstances, Rudy seems undaunted by the consequences that he may have brought upon himself.
Now, with World War Two under way, the young boy feels the need to protect his family, friends, and
the new girl on Himmel Street, Liesel. Rudy is an individual who follows his heart and is impervious
on what the rest of the world perceives. Lately, his whole world has revolved around Liesel Meminger,
the new girl on Himmel Street who has come to live with Hans and Rosa Hubermann. The lipstick
print denotes his desire to kiss her as brought up throughout the book such as on page 53, when the
author says, It was the lover boy coming out of him. If I beat you, I get to kiss you. Although Liesel
refuses numerous times, Rudy still remains diligent in trying. He seems unharmed by the denial from
Liesel from the naked eye, but on the inside, he gets discouraged as pointed out on page 303. He must

Characteristics Of Good People
The first book I read in English class this year was The World According to Garp, a book known for
its forward thinking and provocative material. During a conversation in class, a question arose about
Garp, Jenny, and the other main characters: are they good people? Writers often portray main
characters as flawed, yet ultimately ethnically good human beings; however Garp and Co constantly
walk a moral line. My conclusion: no, they were not good people, but they weren t horrible people
either.
If I were to ask people on the street if they considered themselves to be a good person, I am almost
positive most people would say yes. Nevertheless, the fact remains that statistically people are
predominantly average human beings. Still, I do think it says something that people, in general, want
to be kind hearted. They want to help people in need, or stand up for animal rights. They speak out
against discrimination, or stick up for a friend. Sometimes, yes, people harbor selfish incentives;
nonetheless, a good deed is still a good deed.
Defining a good person is difficult because I don t want to put constraints around it. To be morally
good, to me at least, a person needs to try to be moral, by whatever standards fit his/her own
definition. He/she also needs to understand the personality traits that set him/her back, and in doing so,
he/she can make an effort to remedy them.
With such a vague definition, it is tough to ask specific questions. A potential question could be what

Persuasive Speech About Sports
As Kobe Bryant said; Sports are such a great teacher. I think of everything they taught me:
commodity, humility, and how to resolve differences . (Kobe Bryant). Sports are all over the world
and range from many activities such as hockey, basketball, football, cricket, swimming, and bowling. I
as a youth participated in many different sports including volleyball, basketball, soccer, golf, tennis,
and gymnastics and with all of these sports I was able to grow my confidence, determination, and
leadership that I now carry with me through life. All children benefit by being involved in a sport at
some point in their life. Today I will discuss the Health, social and psychological benefits and
Educational benefits that come from children participating in sports. Not every sport is for every child
and not everyone is amazing at sports, but all children should experience sports and find a sport they
love. With sports children can grow into healthy and athletic adults as well as successful humans with
high positivity in physical activity. Sports enhances the physical and mental developments of children
and aids their growth as they get older and become adults
I. Children grow with the help of sports. Children s health, social, and psychological benefits are
adapted at higher rates with the participation of sports. Sports positively affects aspects of children s
development with themselves and their esteem, others around them, the idea of working towards a
goal and what it takes

Rain Man ( Johnson Levinson
Rain Man (Johnson Levinson, 1988) follows the story of two brothers, estranged at a young age, who
meet and set out on a road trip that changes their lives. The character with disability, Raymond
Babbitt, is institutionalized for autism after a dangerous hot water accident that involved his younger
brother, Charlie Babbitt. The two meet unexpectedly after the death of their father and embark on an
adventure full of frustrations and reconnection. This was an original screen play by Barry Morrow and
Ronald Bass (Rain Man (1988)) Raymond Babbitt s world is very narrow because of his institutional
upbringing and lack of social interaction. This man with autism is not employed and is extremely
dependent on the individuals around him. He does not have the social skills or comprehension needed
to hold down a job, nor does he have a strong grasp of reality and the complexity of society. It is stated
by his doctor that Raymond does not have the capability to express his feelings; therefore, he is unable
to relate and understand human life as the typically developing person would. Raymond functions
almost robotically, consistently needing a strict schedule. This being said, Raymond is extremely
dependent on the caretakers at the institution for everything in his life, including his meals and
bedtime schedule. He does receive professional aid from Doctor Bruner during his stay at the institute
and psychologist, Doctor Marston, whom he sees after a psychotic break down.

The Ancient Civilization Of Egypt
Egypt was an ancient civilisation found in the northern Africa. Like many early civilizations, it
developed along a river, that being the Nile River. It was important that it developed along a river such
as the Nile because it provided water for agriculture and drinking, which were necessary for survival
in a permanent settlement or civilization. South of Egypt was the civilization of Nubia, or Kush. This
was important to Egypt s culture because the back and forth conquering of each other that went on led
to the integration of one another s culture. Egypt adopted Nubian traditions and vice versa. Egypt was
a prominent, African civilization for roughly 1500 years, being divided into three separate kingdoms,
those being Old, Middle, and New. The Old Kingdom through the New Kingdom lasted from about
2575 b.c.e to 1075 b.c.e. The Old Kingdom was established in roughly 2575 b.c.e. and lasted to about
2130 b.c.e. During the Old Kingdom, leaders called pharaohs created a strong, central, organised
government for Egypt. Theocratic rule was present throughout Egyptian government, meaning that
Egypt s government was headed and led by religious leaders. The chief religious adviser to the
pharaoh was their vizier. Pharaohs of the Old Kingdom established a bureaucratic form of
government, meaning it had varying levels of authority and departments tasked with handling specific
objectives. The Middle Kingdom of Egypt endured from approximately 1938 b.c.e. to 1630 b.c.e. The

The Epidemic Of Smallpox And Vaccines
When a vaccine is given, the human body produces antibodies against the foreign substance, thus
creating a defense mechanism for immunity to occur. A vaccine is defined as any preparation used as a
preventive inoculation to confer immunity against a specific disease, usually employing an innocuous
form of the disease agent, as killed or weakened bacteria or viruses, to stimulate antibody production
(dictionary.com). The epidemic of smallpox is one of the most groundbreaking moments in medical
history, It created the usage of vaccination to be extremely normal. Smallpox had managed to kill
millions of people, which was a large part of the population at the time. Edward Jenner came up with a
vaccine that could treat the outbreak of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a culture are we getting vaccines because they are mandatory and a part of the social norm or is it
because they actually work? Many infants and children are dying around the world due to preventable
diseases; Dr. Robert Pearl says, There is nothing more disheartening for a physician than watching a
patient die from a preventable cause. And, of course, the loss for the family involved is unimaginable
(Forbes). The parents of children in underdeveloped nations of the world are in need of vaccines.
However, in the United States it is a different story, where parents demand their children not to be
vaccinated. Vaccines are readily available to people, yet they refuse for many different reasons. Most
of the reasons given for not vaccinating children are because of religious reasons, forgetfulness, moral
beliefs, monetary issues and the theory that vaccines cause other health related issues, such as autism.
The citizens of the United States have been privileged with support from the government to vaccinate
all people who requested to be vaccinated against preventable diseases. Many people around the world
are powerless in getting vaccinated and die due to the lack of healthcare and resources and money. If
parents have a choice to make about keeping their children protected then why are parents not
vaccinating their children against preventable diseases? Immunizations

Healthy Sexual Development
Healthy sexual development begins at birth. It is a holistic process that involves the emotional,
cognitive, behavioral and physical experiences. The physical development aspect has played a pivotal
role in sex education discussion. As such, the discussion of sex education in this forum will focus on
the emotional, cognitive and behavioural sexual development and the responsibility parents and
teachers have in educating themselves to assist adolescents through this development. Emotional
development The Limbic system in the brain controls human emotions including sexual attraction. Mc
Neely Blanchard (2009) explains that the limbic system is the center of human emotions. The
amygdala is thought to link emotions with sensory inputs from the environment. Nerve impulses to the
amygdala trigger the emotions of rage, fear, aggression, reward, and sexual attraction. (p. 16).
Therefore, when adolescents experience sexual drive or attraction it first occurs in the limbic system
of the brain. Consequently, the adolescence stage is when they first ... Show more content on

Mc Neely Blanchard (2009) believe that Early developing adolescents are also more vulnerable to
making risky decisions because their physical and brain changes are happening on widely divergent
tracks. Their physical development may garner invitations and opportunities with older teens and
young adults (parties, drinking, etc.) just as changes in the brain trigger the desire for thrill seeking
and risk taking. However, their brains are not fully developed, so the urge to experiment is not
balanced by the capacity to make sound judgments (p.10). Even though an adolescent maybe
physically developed and feel that he is mature enough to make sound decisions, his brain activities
does not allow him to understand the full perspective on a situation, as in the case of engaging in
sexual activities.

The Director of National Security Administration (NSA) told congress that over fifty potential terrorist

Classic Rock History
The Greatest Rock Band of all Time The Beatles, Rolling Stones, or Led Zeppelin? The Beatles John
Lennon once said, A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality,

well known music genre among multiple generations, yet everything has to start somewhere. The
1960s was a crucial era for the development of classic rock, for some of the most well known
musicians partook in this period including The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and Led Zeppelin. The

The Self Through Self Examination
Betterment of the self through self examination seems like a fundamental idea; however, what occurs
more often than not in today s social media driven climate is not examining oneself, but instead,
comparing oneself to others. Which do you think is more beneficial? It s much easier to make
assumptions about the other and compare yourself to your own idea of the other, rather than look
inward and try to see past the assumptions of yourself and find your inner truth. It s not easy to resist
the idea of rating yourself in comparison to others since it is in human nature to want to place yourself
within a system of cultural values in order to determine your position in a cultural matrix. This kind of
comparison is mentally taxing, socially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To shift the examination inward towards the self is the only way we could hope to understand our
placement in our nation s grand cultural matrix.
One of the most difficult things that we can do in a culture that is so surrounded by judgment is to not
accept these judgments placed on ourselves, as well as others, as finite. Values placed on yourself by
others reduces you to a statement, to words, to a sporadic thought that was devised in the mind of the
other. When we accept other s judgments as fact, we have devalued our own judgments which brings
up the interesting concept of being able to justly judge yourself. To define one s eyes is almost
impossible since we see differently day to day. It is difficult to do yourself justice with a heavy and
sure gavle that judges harshly. When we leave the self inappropriable and admit that we can t know
ourselves, let alone the other, entirely, we may not feel satisfied; however, it s imperative to admit our
lack of understanding of ourselves, so we can continue to define ourselves. When we accept the
judgment of others as fact we are in turn being lethargic by not interrogating our ever changing selves.
It is true the inability to define oneself fully is a miracle; it is true that knowing yourself fully would
leave no room for further discovery, but is it a gift never to know oneself fully? That is one question
that we will never know the answer to. To properly interrogate yourself is to learn how to appreciate
yourself

I am going to discuss one issue regarding each topic. In the topic of American politics, I will describe the negative impact of the Israeli lobby on the American Politic. After that, I will describe the negative impact of the electoral college system on the American democracy. In the past few decades till now, the United States foreign policies were an important factor to deal with many issues around the globe. Starting from the Security Council ending with the country policy, the United States has made many decisions that took negative effect on the country s security and its relations with other countries. • 4. The Crimes Of The Criminal Justice System When it comes being committed using technology, there are different types of crimes that can be committed. These crimes have been traditionally defined as either computer crimes or cybercrimes. The distinction in the two types of crimes seems to focus primarily on whether the crime can be committed without the use of technology and if the computer itself was actively involved with the crime. However, both types have created issues with the criminal justice system with how criminals are committing their crimes, the difficulties in law enforcement performing their duties, and the increased pool or potential targets and victims. Cybercrime is defined as any crime that involves computers and networks, including crimes that do not rely heavily on computers (Choi, 3). Cybercrime also consists of crimes that are illegal when committed without the use of technology (Choi, 3). These types of crimes range from cyberbullying, exploitation of children, and online harassment (Moore, 4). The types of crimes can be committed without the use of technology, but have become more prevalent due to how more easy the crimes are to commit with the use of technology. Child exploitation is a prime example as it is growing at a fast rate due to the opportunities online. The Violation Of Miranda Rights Mr. Knight s statements to officers in the patrol car cannot be suppressed for violation of Miranda rights because he was neither in custody not subjected to an interrogation. To suppress a statement under the Fifth Amendment for violation of Miranda rights, (1) the suspect must be in custody of law enforcement officials and (2) subjected to interrogation (3) without being first provided Miranda warnings. United States v. Brownlee, 454 F.3d 131, 4 (3d Cir. 2006) (citing Rhode Island v. Innis, 446 U.S. 291 (1980)). Here, the police officers that detained Mr. Knight are law enforcement officials; however, Mr. Knight was not in custody because he was stopped for a short and temporary amount of time, and the officers explicitly told him that he would be free to go after completing the traffic summons paperwork. Additionally, Mr. Knight s incriminating statements during his detention were not the product of an interrogation because they were voluntary and not reasonably foreseeable by Officer Davis. Consequently, Mr. Knight did not require a Miranda warning, meaning his incriminating statements in the patrol car cannot be suppressed under the Fifth Amendment. A. • 9. Examples Of Dualism In Star Trek In the Star Trek episode that was viewed, it turns into a question if Data should have the authority to choose if he can be knocked down as an approach for his friends to learn more about him. Maddox signals Data on it and has a disagreement that the technology perhaps is used to establish a force of androids that would support their search farther. Everybody who sees this episode realizes that Data appears and operates like a natural and ordinary human. A dualism aspect is presented when Captain Picard mentions that he thinks that Data has the option to say no to being disassembled. According to Hasker (1983), Dualism begins by taking quite seriously that human beings have both physical properties and mental properties (Husker, 1983). He continues by observing that this is opposed to other assumptions like that of idealism and behaviorism which weaken the two together into one. (Hasker, 1983). Dualism is made clear more when Hasker states that, physical properties are properties of the body, while mental properties are properties of the mind, (Hasker, 1983). Picard applies dualism to illustrate that Data is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Materialism does not deny that humans have both mental and physical attributes but says that both are attributes of the same thing namely, the living human organism (Hasker, 1983, p.69 70). Knowing this is what Maddox uses to deny that Data even has a soul, he believes that Data is the property of Starfleet and can be used as they see fit. This means that Data does not have free will and therefore does not have the right to refuse being disassembled and cannot quit from Starfleet. • 11. Essay on Live Evaluation of 39 Steps Evaluation of a live performance: The performance I went to see was The 39 Steps on the 25th of March, at the Criterion Theatre in London, it s produced by Gaumont British. The original 39 steps was an action spy novel written by John Buchan in 1915. Then Alfred Hitchcock produced a film, then the play was written and when I first saw the play it was a bit of a shock seeing as the book and film are set as thrillers and the play is very much a comedy. The play is set in 1914 and Europe is on the brink of war. The main protagonist Richard Hannay is bored with life, until he runs into a mysterious German woman names Annabella Schmidt at the theatre. Richard then takes the woman home with him and she reveals that she is tracking down ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This I thought was a very different, but clever way of expressing large scenes. Occasionally a follow spot was used to highlight some parts of the of the play for comical effect. At the beginning Richard is asked to look out the window by Annabella and when he does two actors run on stage with a lamp post and as soon as they are on the spot light is on and when they leave it s off again, they did this to give a sense of perspective from the window to the street and also to take the mick out of classic thrillers. The set and props where very compact and were built and moved on and off by the cast because they are designed to be transferred by one person. The props where all cleverly done, for instance they made a bridge out of three ladders, a train out of four boxes and a house from just one door. The door I thought was one of the best props used because the cast managed to make a fairly small stage appear huge just by moving the door and pretending each time that it was a new room every time they passed through it. At one point in the play Richard and Pamela ask the scottish landlords for a sandwich and they come back with a loaf of bread cut in two with one slice of lettuce in the middle, this was such a simple idea but made a big deal and a laugh out of it The rhythm of the production was extremely fast paced due to the size of the cast and comedy. The costumes helped speeding up the pace with changes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. The Manchurian Candidate by Johnathan Demme Essay The Manchurian Candidate, Johnathan Demme directed the remake. Both films portray paranoia, mind control, and conspiracy. Frankenheimer utilizes satire, humor, and symbolism to convey the themes, whereas, Demme uses modern fears, camera angles and focus, and mental illness to achieve similar results. Many of the elements of the 2004 remake have been modernized. While the original movie placed the soldiers in Korea, the remake placed them in Kuwait. The film switches between perspectives of the ladies garden party and the communist officials to stress the comic surrealism of the situation. The calm and genteel ladies garden party is a stark contrast to the evil plotting of the communists. Image overlay as well as soft lighting are also used to convey the surrealism and dreamlike quality. The absurd way that Eleanor s husband, Senator Iselin, presents the supposed number (which he is constantly changing) of communists in the state department, satirizes the Red Scare and McCarthyism. Many of the accused communists during the red scare were merely from wild speculation caused by irrational fear and political movements to get rid of the opposition. It was also ironic that Eleanor, who had her husband present the fake number of communists, was actually the communist herself. The role of a mother is also satirized in the film. The 1950 s portrayed mothers as pure and wholesome, however Eleanor is portrayed as the evil and conniving perpetrator of peril. The remake focused on keeping the audience and Major Marco in a constant state of paranoia and uncertainty. In the original movie, the audience is shown, as well as told by the narrator, that the platoon was captured and brainwashed by communists. Whereas, in the remake, Major Marco and the ... Does Descartes succeed or fail in that attempt? Justify your answer in full. Descartes Epistemology This essay attempts to explain Descartes epistemology of his knowledge, his Cogito, Ergo Sum concept (found in the Meditations), and why he used it [the cogito concept] as a foundation when building his structure of knowledge. After explaining the concept I give a brief evaluation of his success in introducing and using this cogito as a foundation. The argument, as Descartes presented, does not give a valid reason for the existence of the body or anything else in the physical world, so we cannot accept that bodies exist. Neither does the cogito account for the existence of other minds as that would entail knowledge of the physical world where other things exist. The cogito concept does however; give a valid argument for the existence of the mind or a thinking thing that exists independently of the body. In his novel Think, Blackburn explains the cogito concept as a means of justifying the core of one s existence as thinking, we accept that thought exists not a self (Blackburn, 2001:20). I agree with Blackburn because his [Descartes ] concept serves well to prove that we exist as thinking things and even if we were to discard any a priori or a posteriori knowledge, we can still endorse the cogito. The cogito concept stands regardless of empirical knowledge because it suggests the existence of thought without actually linking it to the body (which constitutes a sort of empirical way of acquiring knowledge through the senses). In addition, it can be accepted without any a priori knowledge since Descartes only introduced it after concluding that he knew nothing, and could only accept knowledge of his own existence as vindicated. Rhetorical Analysis Of Michelle Mibama Speech Rhetorical Analysis Essay: Michelle vs. Melania On August 25th of the year 2008, Michelle Obama gave an outstanding speech at the Democratic National Convention. In her speech she talks about her husband s progress in the election as well as his background, political experience, and social activism. She also talks about her upbringings as well as Barack s. Eight years later, Donald Trump is running for president and his wife Melania has the honors of giving a speech at the Republican National Convention. In Melania s speech she as well speaks on how deserving her husband is of being the president and she also talks about her upbringings. About three minute into her speech you start to hear word for word the same exact things Michelle Obama said in her speech eight years ago. Both of their purposes were to convey the idea that their husbands would make a great leader, but why were the speeches so similar. The purpose of this essay is to examine how the two speeches given were rhetorically different in regards to arrangement, style and delivery. Michelle Obama s use of rhetoric was very powerful in her speech. She used lots of good communication and gestures such as: gave eye contact to her audience and used body languages during the course of her speech. She also widely covered the usage of three appeals throughout her speech. Michelle used ethos when telling her audience the service Barack Obama had done Beverley 2 while he was in Illinois. Pathos was used when she gave hope and remembrance to the American Dream despite the predicaments people deal with in this country. She really touched the audience s emotional side when she began to talk about her upbringings in the hearts of Chicago. Even though there wasn t much statistical information given during the speech, Michelle made sure the audience knew Barack Obama was suited to be president which covered logos. She talked about Barack s involvements within the communities and demonstrating his dedication to support her idea that he would make a great president. The Takers And The Leavers By Daniel Quinn The story begins with Daniel Quinn writing about a day in his life, until he comes upon an absurd advertisement in the personals section of the newspaper: TEACHER seeks pupil. Must have an earnest desire to save the world. Apply in person. Suspicious, Quinn investigates this advertisement with intentions of exposing fraud. Instead, he discovers Ishmael in Room 105 of a undistinguished office building. Sitting calmly, Ishmael gently nibbled on a slender branch. Appalled, Quinn stumbled towards the chair. Ishmael and Quinn gazed into each other s eyes, and much to his disgruntlement, the glowing eyes spoke to him. Nodding his head to the unspoken question, Ishmael quietly said, I am the teacher. Ishmael explains that Quinn is part of a culture, that results in him being taught certain stories between the relationships of man, the world, and the Gods. These explanations will be made clearer to the pupil by being assisted in recognizing why the stories are misleading. Ishmael s goal will show the narrator that human history comes from two groups, the Takers and the Leavers. These groups legislate two completely different stories about man, the world, and the Gods. Takers are the humans who developed agriculture and civilization, who still dominate on Earth today. • 21. Chemical Reaction On Chemical Kinetics Olivia Isaacs C127 15 November 2014 Chemical Kinetics Objective: This experiment runs many reactions varying the concentrations of the reactants in order to determine the order for each component and the rate constant. Introduction: Chemical kinetics is the study of how fast a chemical reaction occurs and the factors that affect the speed of reaction.1 Reaction rates are the measure of how much the concentration of reactants change during a given reaction.1 The rate of change of the reactants, Rate = Δ [X]/Δt, is related to the slope of the concentration vs. time graph.1 From observing reaction rates, the overall order of the reaction and the rate constant can be calculated by using the integrated rate laws. For a zero order reaction, the rate law can be written as [A]t = kt + [A]0, where [A]t is the concentration at a given time, k is the negative slope, t is the time, and [A]0 is the initial concentration.2 Using the same variables, a first order reaction can be written as ln[A]t = kt + ln[A]0 and a second order can be written as 1/[A]t = kt + 1/[A]0.2 On a graph, these concentrations are plotted vs. time, allowing the R2 value and equation of the line to be calculated. The R2 value is used in determining the order of the reaction. The closer the R2 value is to 1, the more likely that the graph displays the correct reaction order. The y=mx+b equation provides information about the slope and y intercept, essential when determining the order and rate constant. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For this paper it will be referred to as the Middle Ages. This time is also sometimes described as the Dark Ages by some because of some of the bad events that happened and because they say nothing of importance came out of the time period. It is true Rome fell, there were many wars which caused many to die, a shortage of food that caused many to die and an awful sickness that caused many people to die. Despite The Great Famine, The Plague and the fall of Rome during the medieval time period, it should not be known as the dark ages due to the architecture, art, and both educational and the technological advancements that came to be during this time. Was it the invasions of the Barbarian tribes, economic troubles, disputes on slave labor, overexpansion, the military problems, government corruption, political instability, or the spread of Christianity that took down the Rome Empire (History)? Many different reasons with many different answers, however, the Roman Empire did fall and we were left with what we call the Middle Ages. There have been many movies, books and papers written on the subject. Unfortunately UV is an aiding factor of the bees vision and orientation. Under glass with a good UV transmission (up to 80%), bees behave normally. • 28. Characteristics Of Good People The first book I read in English class this year was The World According to Garp, a book known for its forward thinking and provocative material. During a conversation in class, a question arose about Garp, Jenny, and the other main characters: are they good people? Writers often portray main characters as flawed, yet ultimately ethnically good human beings; however Garp and Co constantly walk a moral line. My conclusion: no, they were not good people, but they weren t horrible people either. If I were to ask people on the street if they considered themselves to be a good person, I am almost positive most people would say yes. Nevertheless, the fact remains that statistically people are predominantly average human beings. Still, I do think it says something that people, in general, want to be kind hearted. They want to help people in need, or stand up for animal rights. They speak out against discrimination, or stick up for a friend. Sometimes, yes, people harbor selfish incentives; nonetheless, a good deed is still a good deed. Defining a good person is difficult because I don t want to put constraints around it. To be morally good, to me at least, a person needs to try to be moral, by whatever standards fit his/her own definition. He/she also needs to understand the personality traits that set him/her back, and in doing so, he/she can make an effort to remedy them. It was important that it developed along a river such as the Nile because it provided water for agriculture and drinking, which were necessary for survival in a permanent settlement or civilization. South of Egypt was the civilization of Nubia, or Kush. This was important to Egypt s culture because the back and forth conquering of each other that went on led to the integration of one another s culture. Egypt adopted Nubian traditions and vice versa. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a culture are we getting vaccines because they are mandatory and a part of the social norm or is it because they actually work? Many infants and children are dying around the world due to preventable diseases; Dr. Robert Pearl says, There is nothing more disheartening for a physician than watching a patient die from a preventable cause. And, of course, the loss for the family involved is unimaginable (Forbes). The parents of children in underdeveloped nations of the world are in need of vaccines. However, in the United States it is a different story, where parents demand their children not to be vaccinated. Vaccines are readily available to people, yet they refuse for many different reasons. Most of the reasons given for not vaccinating children are because of religious reasons, forgetfulness, moral beliefs, monetary issues and the theory that vaccines cause other health related issues, such as autism. The citizens of the United States have been privileged with support from the government to vaccinate all people who requested to be vaccinated against preventable diseases. Many people around the world are powerless in getting vaccinated and die due to the lack of healthcare and resources and money. If parents have a choice to make about keeping their children protected then why are parents not vaccinating their children against preventable diseases? Immunizations ... • 33. Healthy Sexual Development Healthy sexual development begins at birth. It is a holistic process that involves the emotional, cognitive, behavioral and physical experiences. The physical development aspect has played a pivotal role in sex education discussion. As such, the discussion of sex education in this forum will focus on the emotional, cognitive and behavioural sexual development and the responsibility parents and teachers have in educating themselves to assist adolescents through this development. Emotional development The Limbic system in the brain controls human emotions including sexual attraction. Mc Neely Blanchard (2009) explains that the limbic system is the center of human emotions. The amygdala is thought to link emotions with sensory inputs from the environment. Nerve impulses to the amygdala trigger the emotions of rage, fear, aggression, reward, and sexual attraction. (p. 16). Therefore, when adolescents experience sexual drive or attraction it first occurs in the limbic system of the brain. Consequently, the adolescence stage is when they first ... Mc Neely Blanchard (2009) believe that Early developing adolescents are also more vulnerable to making risky decisions because their physical and brain changes are happening on widely divergent tracks. Their physical development may garner invitations and opportunities with older teens and young adults (parties, drinking, etc.) just as changes in the brain trigger the desire for thrill seeking and risk taking. However, their brains are not fully developed, so the urge to experiment is not balanced by the capacity to make sound judgments (p.10). Even though an adolescent maybe physically developed and feel that he is mature enough to make sound decisions, his brain activities does not allow him to understand the full perspective on a situation, as in the case of engaging in sexual activities. ... • 36. The Self Through Self Examination Betterment of the self through self examination seems like a fundamental idea; however, what occurs more often than not in today s social media driven climate is not examining oneself, but instead, comparing oneself to others. Which do you think is more beneficial? It s much easier to make assumptions about the other and compare yourself to your own idea of the other, rather than look inward and try to see past the assumptions of yourself and find your inner truth. It s not easy to resist the idea of rating yourself in comparison to others since it is in human nature to want to place yourself within a system of cultural values in order to determine your position in a cultural matrix. This kind of comparison is mentally taxing, socially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To shift the examination inward towards the self is the only way we could hope to understand our placement in our nation s grand cultural matrix. One of the most difficult things that we can do in a culture that is so surrounded by judgment is to not accept these judgments placed on ourselves, as well as others, as finite. Values placed on yourself by others reduces you to a statement, to words, to a sporadic thought that was devised in the mind of the other. When we accept other s judgments as fact, we have devalued our own judgments which brings up the interesting concept of being able to justly judge yourself. To define one s eyes is almost impossible since we see differently day to day. It is difficult to do yourself justice with a heavy and sure gavle that judges harshly. When we leave the self inappropriable and admit that we can t know ourselves, let alone the other, entirely, we may not feel satisfied; however, it s imperative to admit our lack of understanding of ourselves, so we can continue to define ourselves. When we accept the judgment of others as fact we are in turn being lethargic by not interrogating our ever changing selves. It is true the inability to define oneself fully is a miracle; it is true that knowing yourself fully would leave no room for further discovery, but is it a gift never to know oneself fully? That is one question that we will never know the answer to. To properly interrogate yourself is to learn how to appreciate yourself ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
