R1972 And R2012 Report
Assessment is an essential part of the teaching and learning process. Assessment is most effective
when there is alignment between the outcomes, the design of assessment tasks, the criteria, marking
procedures and feedback provided; this referred to as constructive alignment (Potter Kustra, 2012).
The purpose of an assessment, and the modes and strategies used will depend on a number of factors.
Diagnostic, formative, and summative assessment are three modes of assessment that may be used.
While each of these modes of assessment has a particular purpose, the underlying purpose of all
assessments is to promote student learning (Brady Kennedy, 2012).
Diagnostic assessments are usually conducted at the beginning of a unit of work to find out students
current levels of understandings and reveal any misconceptions. Summative assessments are given at
the end of a unit of work these assessments are used to determine the degree to which students have
achieved the learning outcomes, the effectiveness of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the R1972 report has been written for the same intended audience and for the same purpose as
the R2012 report, the R1972 report contains less information across all areas than the R2012 report,
highlighting the fact that while the R2012 report had some deficiencies it still contained sufficient
relevant and important content.
The R1972 report used a norm referenced assessment approach where the student s grades are
presented in comparison to the class average grades (Brady Kennedy, 2012) rather than being
measured against a criterion or standard like the R2012 report. The R1972 report provides no
information on how the grades out of 10 for the student or class average were determined. Beyond the
simple subject headings, the R1972 report contains no information on the curriculum content covered
during the year, which is an important principle of reporting (Brady Kennedy,

Car Seat Safety Considerations
Car Seat Installation: Making Safety a Priority
Sarah A. Sherwin
Denver School of Nursing
Car Seat Installation: Making Safety a Priority
A.) Every year thousands of children are injured or even killed due to a car not being properly
installed or not following the guidelines to ensure safety. In all the excitement of getting the car seat at
baby showers, picking up the color and style the family wants, sometimes safety is easily forgotten.
Families do not realize it can be challenging to put a car seat in their vehicle. Even before a seat is
bought, it is crucial for the parents to research what seat is best and what one has high safety
standards. It is important to know how the car seat was scored in safety rating tests.
The family I personally taught had the base of car seat installed correctly, they had verbalized how it
fit in the vehicle and understood the baby needed to be in rear facing car seat. However in the actual
car seat baby was not fit snuggly in the car seat. The chest straps were not at armpit height, instead
resting on the stomach. They had added extra blankets around the baby and baby was wearing a heavy
sweater to leave hospital. All ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The material given to the family is at an easy reading level and has simple directions to follow. I also
liked the education material because it has pictures in the material and not just wording. It makes it
easier to understand for those who are visual learners. The couple were very interested in learning. I
could tell they wanted to do what was best for baby and make sure baby is safe at all times in car. The
learning took place in their room, it was quiet, bright and no other distractions were going on. The
whole process from start to end took almost an hour. The health status of the learners was positive and
the timing was great because they were ready for discharge and to be on their

The Second Feminism Movement
In the late 19th century, the world had gone through three feminism movements. During 1919, the first
feminism movement had begun. However, this movement was not concerned as a significant
movement. Thus, a second feminism movement had occurred during 1960. This movement unfolded
the context of Vietnam War and the women civil right movement in the 1960s, a critical year for
women since women started to gain their rights and powers. Such as the increasing job opportunities,
the raising of the work wages and the rising position in society. During the second feminism
movement, three organizations had played important roles: Equal Employment Opportunity
Commission (EEOC), National Organization for Women (NOW), and Equal Rights Amendment
(ERA).
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) had played an important role through the

she published a book, The Feminine Mystique , about Women s Liberation Movement, which was
known as the book that started it all . She had an extreme thought on how men look down on women.
The main focus of her thought is the equality between humans. According to Betty Friedan, A woman

NOW addresses are promoting abortion and reproductive health services, preventing violence against
women, promoting constitutional equality, promoting diversity and ending racism. In conclusion,
NOW helped women gain huge rights in the second feminism

Case Study Of Henry Molaison, A Man With Global Amnesia
Case 1 tells the story of Henry Molaison (HM), a man with no memory. He lost his memory due to the
operation of suctioned out the hippocampus to treat his epileptic seizures. At that time, it was not
known yet that the hippocampus was essential for making memories. After operation, his seizures
were significantly reduced, but Henry suffered a global amnesia. Owen et al. (2007) describes patients
with global amnesia as perceptive and attentive but with a total loss of short term memory and some
trouble accessing memories of the recent past. Henry could not learn new things as he quickly forgot
everything that he had learned. He could learn at a subconscious level only. Henry Molaison (HM),

Memory is the process involved in retaining, retrieving and using information about stimuli, images,
events, ideas and skills after the original information is no longer present. We can relate this case with
what we learn in psychology. Short term memory holds information from 15 until 30 seconds whereas
long term memory holds information for years. Short term memory (STM) is the system that is
involved in storing small amount of information for a brief period of time while long term memory
(LTM) is the system that is responsible for storing information for long periods of time and recall
information about past events in lives and knowledge learned.
Without the hippocampus, the information from the short term memory (STM) cannot be stored in
long term memory (LTM). The hippocampus is a very important part of the human brain to store our
memories. If we lost it, we will lose all our conscious memories. From Henry s case, it also discovered
that there are multiple memory storage areas located at different parts of the brain while the
hippocampus is important to consolidate short term memory to long term memory. The removal of
hippocampus caused Henry to suffer until he died as he lost the ability to make new conscious

The father of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) is Albert Ellis. Born in Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania in 1913, New York became Dr. Ellis home since his family move there when he was
four years old. Ellis struggled with health problems and physical ailments from childhood until his
death in 2007. As a child, Ellis survived on his own as his parents were absent. His father was a
traveling business person and his mother was emotionally absent (Albert Ellis Institute, 2012). The
foundation of REBT developed when a youthful Ellis utilized a philosophy of viewing life to deal

In the 1950s, Ellis grew dissatisfied with the effect of analytic forms of therapy since he discovered
that his clients progressed as well when saw them bi weekly, weekly, or daily. At that point, Ellis took
a more active role counseling people with family or sex problems. Furthermore, Ellis discovered his
clients seemed to progress more rapidly than when he used passive psychoanalytic procedures. By
1955, Ellis had abandoned psychoanalysis entirely with his clients. Moreover, Ellis concentrated on
altering client s behavior by challenging them with their irrational beliefs and influencing them to
apply rational ones. This new method was more suited to Ellis personality since he could be more
himself (Corey, 2013). Ellis believed rational emotive suited his own personality processes. In 1957,
Ellis published his first book, How to Live with a Neurotic, based on Rational Emotive Behavior
Therapy. Subsequently, Ellis organized the Institute for Rational Living. At this institute, he held
workshops to teach his principles to other therapists. After the success of his first book, Ellis published
54 books and more than 600 articles on Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), sex and
marriage (Albert Ellis Institute, 2012). Ellis stated the genesis of REBT theory back to ancient Greece.

Mass Extermination Research Paper
What can the human race do to ensure that another mass extermination never happens again? That
depends the human race being united to fight it. All cultures have distinguished people into categories
of us and them : ethnicity, race, religion, nationality. We don t see ourselves as one people, but as
multiple peoples defending ourselves against others. We don t see other races as human beings, either.
Because we grow up and live apart from other cultures and languages, we see other human beings
unlike us as peculiar to ourselves dehumanizing them. We create imaginary borders around our own
kind and shut out other groups. If we, as one human race, overcame these boundaries, then the
extermination of large groups of people would cease. Another

The Constitution And The Federal Government
The Constitution was written so that the Federal Government would actually have some ability to
govern unlike it had in the previous Articles of Confederation. They wished to establish a more
organized justice system which under the Articles, was the States responsibility and could vary greatly
from place to place. They also wanted the ability to raise an Army, to help protect its citizen s lives
and liberties. After The Revolution many of the founding fathers feared a large government and
preferred smaller and more localized forms of government. And with that lead to the Articles of
Confederation, the original governing documents, that assembled a very weak and decentralized
Federal Government and the States had most of the power. Years later many of the founders did not
feel that this was the best form of government, getting the States to assemble and agree on nearly any
bill was impossible including funding for the Federal Governments very existence. The Federalists
argued the Federal Government was powerless to protect its people without the means or money to
raise an Army, they wished for a more universal way of doing things rather than the at times chaos the
States were creating. Some other arguments for a Federal Government was there was not a system in
place to settle disputes between the states over boundaries and trade, some States charged high taxes
on the goods and people from other States. Another argument made by the Federalists was in James

Comparing the Personalities of the Writers, Dante and Chaucer
Even though Dante and Chaucer never met, Dante having died 19 years before Chaucer was born,
Dante inadvertently became Chaucer s life long mentor. Dante s severe spirit turned out to be far more
harsh than Chaucer s nature, however Dante s protégé, Boccaccio, became one of Chaucer s greatest
inspirations. Looking back at both Dante and Chaucer s works, experts now see striking similarities in
their writing. Whether Chaucer ever meant to use Dante s materials or not, he is now closely
compared with his contrary counter part. The original purpose of this paper was to tell how closely
related Chaucer s writing was to Dante s, however, a closer look at the man, the better the picture is
that shows the blatant contrasts between these two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These experiences made Dante quickly realize that this world is corrupt to the core. Greed for material
things is the main fault, greed which is allowed to dictate the actions of men. Only a cessation of
strife, the establishment of universal peace can ensure the happiness of mankind and allow men to
pursue the ultimate aim for which God has destined them on earth, that of exercising constantly and to
the full their distinctive quality, the Virtus Intellective (virtuous intellect) (Limentani,117). He
believed that life on this earth was for a purpose and had meaning to it this can be seen in the Inferno
because Dante is working to make his journey purposeful. He travels so far and tries so hard to work
his way up to heaven. Chaucer stands in contrast to Dante s almost dogmatic piety and looks to other
things as purposeful in his life. Chaucer s views of life come from a very political point of view. He
was introduced to court life while still in his teens, becoming a page to one of the kings daughter in
laws. From there he rose in status until he was promoted to the rank of esquire. Though he was
exposed to political plots and war Chaucer exhibit s a lust and compassion for life that completely
eludes Dante s works. While he was easy going and generally sympathetic to others Chaucer was
nothing of a typical idealist. While Dante searched for ways to better the world by destroying chaotic
war and hate, Chaucer was content to let the world

Examples Of Diction In Beowulf
Beowulf speaks volumes about the ways of life during the Anglo Saxon period. It is to England what
Homer s Odyssey and Iliad are to Greece. It is, as some call it, the mother poem of England. This
mother poem has been passed down through oral tradition for numerous years and scholars believe
that an educated Christian monk transcribed the poem, preserving it in written form. Beowulf has
survived for nearly 1,300 years due to how well it conveys the Anglo Saxon culture and the unique
characteristics of the poem in its imagery, tone, style and diction. This epic poem depicts picturesque
imagery of various kinds. It is acutely gruesome in many instances, such as the battle with Grendel
and the description of hell s captive and his mother. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With much alliteration, imaginative kennings, and caesura. The narrator uses strong alliteration and
does so quite intricately, using single, double and triple alliterations at points throughout the poem;
such as in lines 30 32, Then, when darkness had dropped, Grendel / Went up to Herot, wondering what
the warriors / Would do in that hall when their drinking was done. (L. 30 32) The narrator frequently
uses kennings in this poem. A kenning in Anglo Saxon literature is a metaphorical phrase or
compound word that names an event, person, place, or thing indirectly. There are four different types
of kennings that the narrator uses within Beowulf which are prepositional phrase (ex. shepherd of evil
= Grendel, guardian of crime = Grendel), hyphenated compound (ex. sea road = the ocean, ring giver
= king), possessive (ex. God s bright beacon = the sun), and open compound (ex. wakeful sleeper =
Beowulf) kennings. A unique quality of the style of Beowulf is caesura, which is seen in nearly every
line within the poem. Caesura is a characteristic of Old English poetry; it is a pause or a break within a
line of poetry and it is usually indicated by the natural rhythm of the language. Alliteration coincides
with caesura; usually the first stressed syllable before the caesura alliterates with the first stressed
syllable after the

Wang Lung s Changes In The Good Earth
The novel, The Good Earth, by Pearl S. Buck, takes place outside of a small village in China during
the early twentieth century. Women, during this time period, have little say in anything involving their
lives. They are expected to take care of the house, as well as tending to the children and men of the
family, whether it be the husband, his father, or brothers. Women possess the skills to provide for and
serve the family, and that is what they do. In this novel Wang Lung is a typical, poor farmer. He
spends his days tending to the fields and his father. When Wang Lung and O lan marry, he is pleased

lan experienced living on the streets and was a mistreated, abused slave in the House of Hwang, never

significant to O lan. But love, of all things, is what O lan yearns for most. All her life, she is never

she still does all she can for him, in hope of getting any kind of love. As for the earth, its only
necessities are water, sunlight and people to work and tend to the crops. If the earth has water and
sunlight, it will flourish and produce crops. In order for those crops to thrive, they need people to tend
to them, but that is all. Although they may not need the same things, both O lan and the earth only

In this aspect, the title carries heavy significance, homesick is actually translated to being sick of

physical and emotional pain, the reader can sense apathy from Cody towards his mother whenever he

conflict with his mother has left in him. The one time Cody tries to reach out to his mother and be

because she didn t want to miss Ezra s birthday. This has a lasting impact on

Activity Based Costing ACTIVITY BASED COSTING AND MANAGEMENT : AN OVERVIEW
Activity Based Costing (ABC) is more relevant than traditional costing in companies, where product

ABC will also provide more decision useful information for the service industry, characterized by
diversity in range of services provided. If the products in a plant or services provided posses similar

The level at which activities are analysed can vary widely from the very aggregate to the very
detailed. The level of detail should be matched to the level of analysis required to improve the
decision making within the organisation. Even within a single organisation, the level of detail can very
from one part of the analysis to another, excessive detail will bog down the project and not provide
any material benefit to the analysis. Too little detail will obscure the meaningful results that could be
achieved.
The usefulness of an ABC analysis can be further enhanced by including a value analysis of every
activity.
When constructing an ABC model, activity costs can be either traced directly to a cost objects.
Examples of enabling activities include paying employees and supporting PC users . We can then
generate reports for these activities in various formats that show both the direct resources as well as
those supports activities that form part of the total cost. Reports generally list the activities from
highest cost to lowest cost. Management can then evaluate these activity costs in terms of whether
they are too high, too low, or in the expected range. This is again a focusing mechanism for
management in evaluating it

operations of Congress Essay
Throughout history, there have been many factors that seem to have influenced the operations of
Congress. Some of these factors have been the committee system, seniority, and political parties.
These are only a few of the factors that actually have an influence on Congress s decisions of certain
operations.
The first factor that seems to have influenced the operations of Congress is the committee system.
Congress has four different types of committees. The four committees are the joint committees,
conference committees, standing committees, and select committees. The standing committee has an
influence on Congress because of the fact that they have jurisdiction over all the bills of a given type.

The Committee chairpersons are the ones with the real power. There is an unwritten rule that the
majority party member with the longest continuous service on a committee becomes chairperson when
a vacancy occurs. The committee chairperson is the only one in the committee that actually has a real
say in what is going on, and that opportunity is given to the one that has served his time the longest.
However, that is no longer allowed. A historical event that has influenced Congress s operations is the
Legislation Reorganization act of 1970.This act ensures that there will be no more seniority because.
Now a secret ballot elects them, however, the member with the most seniority usually wins anyway.
The third factor that seems to have an influence on the operations of Congress is the public opinion.
Logically, if the public thinks that a certain congressman doesn t know how to do his job, then he won
t get elected. That s why the public opinion has a major influence the operations of Congress because
the public has say if that Congressman or Congressmen will get elected again.
In conclusion, there are many factors that influence Congress s decisions of certain operations

opinion. Most of the factors have to do with making sure that there are no corrupt congressmen, or

A Brief History Of The Mayan Civilization
A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE MAYAN CIVILIZATION Michael Costa History 157: History of Latin
America May 8, 2015 Mayan civilization peaked too early to impress the Spanish in the manner of the
Inca and Aztec empires. The great Mayan ceremonial centers visited by modern tourists were all in
ruin when the Spanish arrived in the 1500s. In fact, the highpoint of Mayan imperial organization was
almost a thousand years earlier. Mayan city states were located in high mountains, in densely forested
tropical lowlands, and on the arid Yucatán peninsula. Like the Mexicas (and other indigenous people
of central Mexico), the Maya built stone pyramids, but they did not dedicate any to human sacrifice.
Mayan cities contained ball courts where opposing teams tried to get a rubber ball through a stone
hoop. The game was not a sport, but a ritual, and often a matter of life and death. Mayan writing,
composed of symbols called glyphs, was the most elaborate created by any indigenous civilization. In
an attempt to eradicate Mayan indigenous religious belief, the Spanish conquistadors burned large
collections of Mayan writings. The Mayan language lives on today, but its linguistic fragmentation
mirrors the political fragmentation of the city states. Modern Mayan is a family of languages, rather
than a single language. Quiché and Mam, two modern Mayan languages, are no more alike than
English and German or French and Italian. Life was good to those lucky

Keeping the environment to a calm atmosphere promotes healing. Educating nurses and nursing
students to be prepared to care for patients as a whole, as well as educating nurses on the importance
of being non judgmental, will make building a trusting relationship with the patient leisurelier. Nurses
are taught earlier in nursing school the importance of caring for a patient and keeping their
environments comfortable. Students and nurses who are taught to practice Watson s theory, gain
education that is focused on caring as its center. It is not only important for the nurse to practice what
they are taught but to also educate the patient. Watsons theory of caring applies to most nursing
research. Almost all nursing research involves the caring model. A variety of research has been
achieved with its focus on caring and nursing. Caring or not caring can have both positive and
negative consequences. Research has proven that the biogentic level, the deepest level of a caring
relationship, was in connection with true caring. This level of caring is related to the transpersonal
caring theory. Research also shows that the level of non caring, known as the biocidic level, leads to
annoyance, frustration, and non healing (Watson 2006). Health The harmony and peace within the

How Congestion Growth Affects Income Growth
Our primary interest is to identify how congestion growth affects income growth in a metropolitan
region. In Table 2 and 3, the results of the simultaneous equation models show that the coefficient
estimates for congestion growth are negative and significant at the 10% level. That is, congestion
growth has a negative effect on income growth in both 2000s and 1990s. Specifically, every one
percentage increase in congestion growth leads to a 0.07% and a 0.19% decrease in income growth
during 2000s and 1990s, respectively. As expected, the results show that congestion growth has a
negative effect on income growth. In addition, the initial condition of traffic congestion is negatively
associated with income growth in 1990s, meaning that higher levels of initial traffic congestion
negatively affects household income. However, it is not statistically significant in 2000s.
The coefficient estimate for the employment growth is statistically positive at the 1% level in 1990s.
Specifically, all else being equal, every one percentage increase in employment growth leads to a
0.60% increase in income growth during the period. This result supports notion that employment
growth raises wages and thus produce positive wage growth (Lewis, et al., 2002). This is because
positive employment growth provides more available jobs, which attracts job seekers. Increased
population affects employment by increasing demand and services and providing a larger workforce
as well. Such shifts in regions

Jurassic Period Research Paper
The Jurassic Period is a time period were new dinosaurs were being discovered and found. It was
about 199.6 to 145.5 million years ago. Some of the species that were found in the Jurassic Period are
the Stegosaurus, Ceratosaurus, Brachiosaurus, and Allosaurus. Each dinosaur had their own
characteristics for survival. The weather in the Jurassic Period was warm and humid. The tectonic
shift took place, several rifts were formed and filled with water, forming, what would later become
many of today s oceans and seas. These oceans were small and shallow giving way to an excellent,
warm, tropical climate. Surface waters in the low latitudes were about 20 °C (68 °F), while deep

The scientists believe that the herbivores ran out of plants, and trees and so all of the herbivores died

thought of happening was a disease. Disease may of happened from one dinosaur getting sick and then
it just passed on from dinosaur to dinosaur. I would like to live during that time period because it

reason why I would like to live during their time period is to see what kind of habitat their living in

would like to study their behavior towards other dinosaurs, and how some of them evolve throughout

This semester I visited the Reach Academy in West Harrison, New York. My experience observing
gave me incredible insight into the world of special education. The Reach Academy is a residential

school features students with various different disabilities, including autism, emotional and behavioral
disorders, and speech and communication disabilities. During my fieldwork I observed two social

The first class I visited was a 12th grade American history class. The students planned to graduate this

education teacher and one teacher s assistant. Some students in the class had their own aide. The class
consisted of 7 students including students with autism and emotional and behavior disorders. The
lesson was on the the Declaration of Independence. The start of the lesson included the objective of
the lesson, which was for students to identify the key points of the Declaration of Independence. The
teacher greeted the class and turned their attention to the board. The board included a quote about

A Summary Of Finding Nemo
Watched by many, the movie Finding Nemo is a good movie for explaining Vygotsky s theories
because there is a wide variety of characters adults, children and even teachers. The adult characters in
the movie Finding Nemo portray the adolescence developmental stages, as explained by Vygotsky.
Many more of Vygotsky s theories are found in the movie. Some include the zone of proximal
development, egocentric speech, scaffolding, and scientific and spontaneous concepts.
Both being clown fish, Nemo and Marlin live in the ocean, in the anemone. Marlin is Nemo s father

the Gothic defined in its genre were tales of many types sword and sandal epics about fearless

It ruminates on the responsibilities of fatherhood and motherhood, in a sense, since Mary Shelley is
the mother of all the text s characters.
The morality of creating a life without the help of the birds and the bees is a troubling thought to
many, an exciting thought for some, and an opportunity for power for the wicked. Mankind has always
been perplexed by how the world and its people came to be. Whether one is a believer, an atheist, or
someone in between, the questions of the universe have a way of robbing the curious of sound sleep.
Shelley writes about how frightful it would be to compete as a human with the Creator of the world.
The weight that this places on the individual both challenges the humanity of that person and the
divine of the Creator. For those who believe in a God, the thought of being in competition with
something that is omnipresent and omnipotent is dumbfounding and foolhardy. Man s relationship
with a higher power has been rocky, to say the least. Many dictators and the like have tried to be gods
themselves by attempting to exterminate whole groups of people, as well as conquer the entirety of
globe. From Victor Frankenstein trying to imbue his own version of life into a body, to Hitler trying to
commit genocide, it seems as if God has a way of winning in the end. It just proves how humans
should not challenge the divine of the Creator, as Victor does, without fully considering the
consequences.

Phenolphthalein Lab
In this lab, we examined cubes of phenolphthalein submerged in Sodium hydroxide to see what the
effects would be. For the phenolphthalein, we used Agar cubes cut in three different sizes: small,
medium and large. The purpose of this Lab was to study the surface area to volume ratio in cells and
see how this ratio affects cell size. Phenolphthalein (C20H14O4) is one of the most common acid base
indicators used to determine the end point in acid base titrations. Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) is an
inorganic compound also known as lye. When exposed to each other, these two compounds made the
Agar cubes turn magenta (pink). Diffusion occurs along diffusion gradients going from areas of high
concentration to areas of lower concentration. So with time the NaOH diffuses from the area of high
concentration outside of the agar cube to areas of lower concentration inside of the cube. Once the
Agar cubes had been immersed in the NaOH for ten minutes, we cut each cube in half. The depth of
diffusion on each of the cubes was .3 cm. * The rate of diffusion for all three agar cubes was .03 ...

Cells need to metabolize nutrients and excrete waste in order to live. These processes need to occur
efficiently. On the agar cubes, the pink area represents the depth of diffusion and indicates how far
nutrients diffusing into the cell would travel. The percentage of pink area indicates how efficient the
diffusion is. The white area is bad because this means there was no diffusion into that region. In
theory, any cube with a white area will die since that portion of the cell would not acquire the
necessary nutrients. The small cube was the most efficient at gaining nutrients and getting rid of waste
as almost all of the cube had turned pink. In conclusion, the best cell size was the small cube because
it had the larges SA:Vol ratio and therefore, it had the most diffusion. Cells need a large SA:Vol ratio
to stay alive, that is why they are microscopic in

Graffiti Vandalism Essay
Is graffiti vandalism or art? Many people say that graffiti is art, while others disagree saying its
vandalism. In my opinion, graffiti is art. This type of art can be understood in different ways and can
be considered as vandalism. It really all depends on what the picture expresses to you and what you
see. But everyone has their own opinions and everyone sees everything differently. While many of
these artists who are extremely talented and spend most of their time on their pieces, our society has

For most people, graffiti is nothing more than splotches on a wall. But to those people who admire it,
graffiti is a technique that is changing the way we look at spray paint.
It may be called art, but I don t like it, (DuBois, 2015). Most of these artists who haven t been
recognized by galleries, risk themselves on a daily basis. This is their job, expressing their pain or
happiness on a piece. Each time you pass a piece on a wall just ask yourself, What could they be going
through? Art is expressed in so many ways. Graffiti is spread all over the world.
Graffiti artists have the constant threat of facing consequences for displaying their art. Many of them
choose to protect their identities so they remain anonymous. Banksy is the world s most notorious and
well known street artists who to this day remains faceless in today s society. His tags are well known
for his anti war, political stencil art. His work is seen from Bristol, England to anywhere from Los
Angeles to Palestine. Pixnit is another artist who chooses to keep their identity anonymous. Her art
focuses on beauty and design aspects of graffiti.
The term graffiti art essentially describes the post 1960s for decorating the urban environment through
the use of aerosol spray paint. The development structure links with the underground hip hop culture
and b boying. The B boys, the first examples of hip hop used graffiti as a way to express frustration

The composer uses the power of language through documentary techniques by providing facts.
Indigenous Australians experience many inequalities in their health. Pilger uses statistics to deliver the

ensures that the information being given is accurate, factual and believable. An example used in the

Analysis On Desert Valley s Budget Adjustment
INTERNAL MEMO TO: Marcus Chelford, Ted Amero, and Fernando Lapan FROM: Li Chan, CPA
DATE: December 2, 2014 SUBJECT: Activity 2A Budget Adjustment The purpose of this memo is to
describe the impact of the change in commodity prices on Desert Valley s budget and suggest ways to
mitigate this threat. We conducted some sensitivity analysis on Desert Valley s budget to determine the
expected impact of a 2% increase in the price of malt barley and wheat grain. This is especially
important given the fact that customers are not willing to increase prices to compensate for the rising
cost of these commodities. This puts pressure on Desert Valley to absorb these price shocks and still
meet its other financial objectives. As one would expect, a 2% increase on direct materials will lead to
an increase in variable costs and in turn, a decrease in profits and contribution margin. The budget
impact of this change equates to ($73,322) which represents a (1.06%) hit to profits and a (0.86%)
change in contribution margin. This shows that at this point, small percentage changes in commodity
prices have a relatively minor impact on the company s financial position. However, if commodity
prices continue to fluctuate further or if production volumes increase then this may become a more
prevalent issue. To mitigate the risk of future commodity price changes it is recommended that Desert
Valley adopt a hedging program by purchasing forward contracts. This would allow the company to

The Effects Of Osteoporosis On The Bone Disease
The Effects of Osteoporosis Osteoporosis is a bone disease that occurs when the body loses too much
bone, too little bone, or both. Because of this, bones become weak and may break from a fall, or
worse, break from sneezing or minor bumps (National Osteoporosis Foundation). Osteoporosis means
porous bone . A healthy bone under a microscope looks like a honeycomb, when osteoporosis is taking
place, the holes and spaces in the honeycomb are much larger than in the healthy bone. Bones that are
osteoporotic have lost density, and contain abnormal tissue structure. When bones lose this density,

Labeling Theory And Strain Theory
Michael Byrnes Cindy Moore Theories of Criminal Behavior 11/16/14 Labeling Theory and Strain
Theory: John Dillinger Introduction: Throughout history there have always been many different
theories of crime and why people commit crimes. In the late 1930s a new theory rose to the forefront;
this theory was called the anomie theory. Anomie means a lack of ethical standards. The anomie
theory was proposed by Roberton Merton. It stated that society, as a whole, generally shares the same
goals relating to having success in life; whether that is having a family, wealth, power, or just
happiness. Society generally agrees that these are things that are to be sought after. Furthermore,
Merton proposed that society, as a whole, also has a list of generally accepted ways to achieve such
goals (Merton, 1938). Criminal activity, such as robbery, murder, and corruption, are among the things
that are not accepted by society as appropriate means to achieve these goals. Merton s anomie theory
was built upon in 1992 by Robert Agnew who developed the general strain theory. General strain
theory argues that when members of society are unable to achieve the general goals that society has

Reality Is Seemingly Through Reality Essay
What we believe to be impossible to be achieved through reality is often projected in the unconscious.
Freud theorized that our minds repressed desires that could summon emotions such as guilt or shame,
which could lead to what is called wish fulfillment through dreams, hallucinations, or phases of
neurosis. Experiences of intense dream sequences that involve sexual relations with family members,
or homicide carried out by the individual or others, are examples of wish fulfillment dreams. Said
dreams represent taboos or actions that could result in extreme consequences in reality, so instead, the
impulses or yearnings are satisfied within the unconscious where only the individual can truly gain
access to. To Freud, the mind was a part of us suffering from chronic turmoil, with the ego and the
superego constantly at war with the ID, where impulses rest.
When my dream occurred, the contents, while shocking, did not come as a surprise to me. During that
period, my father had been absent from my life for the most part, causing much distress from my

people that are relied upon for this much needed wisdom are unable to face the enigmatic fog of life,
let alone mentor others through it, and for others, they will not have anyone to guide them the fog at
all. Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller enlightens us on the importance that parents provide proper
guidance for their young, and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In our youths, the need for guidance is crucial for our development, whether it is from our parents, a

our experiences and interpretations of reality; however, without proper directions on how to learn
from these experience, or leadership to allow us to interpret our reality with mental clarity, the
conclusions that we draw with our young, naïve minds can produce a distressing portrait. We are, after
all, products of our

  • 2. R1972 And R2012 Report Assessment is an essential part of the teaching and learning process. Assessment is most effective when there is alignment between the outcomes, the design of assessment tasks, the criteria, marking procedures and feedback provided; this referred to as constructive alignment (Potter Kustra, 2012). The purpose of an assessment, and the modes and strategies used will depend on a number of factors. Diagnostic, formative, and summative assessment are three modes of assessment that may be used. While each of these modes of assessment has a particular purpose, the underlying purpose of all assessments is to promote student learning (Brady Kennedy, 2012). Diagnostic assessments are usually conducted at the beginning of a unit of work to find out students current levels of understandings and reveal any misconceptions. Summative assessments are given at the end of a unit of work these assessments are used to determine the degree to which students have achieved the learning outcomes, the effectiveness of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While the R1972 report has been written for the same intended audience and for the same purpose as the R2012 report, the R1972 report contains less information across all areas than the R2012 report, highlighting the fact that while the R2012 report had some deficiencies it still contained sufficient relevant and important content. The R1972 report used a norm referenced assessment approach where the student s grades are presented in comparison to the class average grades (Brady Kennedy, 2012) rather than being measured against a criterion or standard like the R2012 report. The R1972 report provides no information on how the grades out of 10 for the student or class average were determined. Beyond the simple subject headings, the R1972 report contains no information on the curriculum content covered during the year, which is an important principle of reporting (Brady Kennedy, ... • 3. Car Seat Safety Considerations Car Seat Installation: Making Safety a Priority Sarah A. Sherwin Denver School of Nursing Car Seat Installation: Making Safety a Priority A.) Every year thousands of children are injured or even killed due to a car not being properly installed or not following the guidelines to ensure safety. In all the excitement of getting the car seat at baby showers, picking up the color and style the family wants, sometimes safety is easily forgotten. Families do not realize it can be challenging to put a car seat in their vehicle. Even before a seat is bought, it is crucial for the parents to research what seat is best and what one has high safety standards. It is important to know how the car seat was scored in safety rating tests. The family I personally taught had the base of car seat installed correctly, they had verbalized how it fit in the vehicle and understood the baby needed to be in rear facing car seat. However in the actual car seat baby was not fit snuggly in the car seat. The chest straps were not at armpit height, instead resting on the stomach. Short term memory (STM) is the system that is involved in storing small amount of information for a brief period of time while long term memory (LTM) is the system that is responsible for storing information for long periods of time and recall information about past events in lives and knowledge learned. Without the hippocampus, the information from the short term memory (STM) cannot be stored in long term memory (LTM). The hippocampus is a very important part of the human brain to store our memories. If we lost it, we will lose all our conscious memories. • 10. The Constitution And The Federal Government The Constitution was written so that the Federal Government would actually have some ability to govern unlike it had in the previous Articles of Confederation. They wished to establish a more organized justice system which under the Articles, was the States responsibility and could vary greatly from place to place. They also wanted the ability to raise an Army, to help protect its citizen s lives and liberties. After The Revolution many of the founding fathers feared a large government and preferred smaller and more localized forms of government. And with that lead to the Articles of Confederation, the original governing documents, that assembled a very weak and decentralized Federal Government and the States had most of the power. Years later many of the founders did not feel that this was the best form of government, getting the States to assemble and agree on nearly any bill was impossible including funding for the Federal Governments very existence. The Federalists argued the Federal Government was powerless to protect its people without the means or money to raise an Army, they wished for a more universal way of doing things rather than the at times chaos the States were creating. Some other arguments for a Federal Government was there was not a system in place to settle disputes between the states over boundaries and trade, some States charged high taxes on the goods and people from other States. He believed that life on this earth was for a purpose and had meaning to it this can be seen in the Inferno because Dante is working to make his journey purposeful. He travels so far and tries so hard to work his way up to heaven. Chaucer stands in contrast to Dante s almost dogmatic piety and looks to other things as purposeful in his life. Chaucer s views of life come from a very political point of view. He was introduced to court life while still in his teens, becoming a page to one of the kings daughter in laws. From there he rose in status until he was promoted to the rank of esquire. Though he was exposed to political plots and war Chaucer exhibit s a lust and compassion for life that completely eludes Dante s works. A Brief History Of The Mayan Civilization A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE MAYAN CIVILIZATION Michael Costa History 157: History of Latin America May 8, 2015 Mayan civilization peaked too early to impress the Spanish in the manner of the Inca and Aztec empires. The great Mayan ceremonial centers visited by modern tourists were all in ruin when the Spanish arrived in the 1500s. In fact, the highpoint of Mayan imperial organization was almost a thousand years earlier. Mayan city states were located in high mountains, in densely forested tropical lowlands, and on the arid Yucatán peninsula. Like the Mexicas (and other indigenous people of central Mexico), the Maya built stone pyramids, but they did not dedicate any to human sacrifice. Mayan cities contained ball courts where opposing teams tried to get a rubber ball through a stone hoop. The game was not a sport, but a ritual, and often a matter of life and death. Mayan writing, composed of symbols called glyphs, was the most elaborate created by any indigenous civilization. In an attempt to eradicate Mayan indigenous religious belief, the Spanish conquistadors burned large collections of Mayan writings. The Mayan language lives on today, but its linguistic fragmentation mirrors the political fragmentation of the city states. Modern Mayan is a family of languages, rather than a single language. In Table 2 and 3, the results of the simultaneous equation models show that the coefficient estimates for congestion growth are negative and significant at the 10% level. That is, congestion growth has a negative effect on income growth in both 2000s and 1990s. Specifically, every one percentage increase in congestion growth leads to a 0.07% and a 0.19% decrease in income growth during 2000s and 1990s, respectively. As expected, the results show that congestion growth has a negative effect on income growth. In addition, the initial condition of traffic congestion is negatively associated with income growth in 1990s, meaning that higher levels of initial traffic congestion negatively affects household income. However, it is not statistically significant in 2000s. The coefficient estimate for the employment growth is statistically positive at the 1% level in 1990s. Specifically, all else being equal, every one percentage increase in employment growth leads to a 0.60% increase in income growth during the period. This result supports notion that employment growth raises wages and thus produce positive wage growth (Lewis, et al., 2002). The morality of creating a life without the help of the birds and the bees is a troubling thought to many, an exciting thought for some, and an opportunity for power for the wicked. Mankind has always been perplexed by how the world and its people came to be. Whether one is a believer, an atheist, or someone in between, the questions of the universe have a way of robbing the curious of sound sleep. Shelley writes about how frightful it would be to compete as a human with the Creator of the world. The weight that this places on the individual both challenges the humanity of that person and the divine of the Creator. For those who believe in a God, the thought of being in competition with something that is omnipresent and omnipotent is dumbfounding and foolhardy. Man s relationship with a higher power has been rocky, to say the least. Many dictators and the like have tried to be gods themselves by attempting to exterminate whole groups of people, as well as conquer the entirety of globe. For the phenolphthalein, we used Agar cubes cut in three different sizes: small, medium and large. The purpose of this Lab was to study the surface area to volume ratio in cells and see how this ratio affects cell size. Phenolphthalein (C20H14O4) is one of the most common acid base indicators used to determine the end point in acid base titrations. Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) is an inorganic compound also known as lye. When exposed to each other, these two compounds made the Agar cubes turn magenta (pink). Diffusion occurs along diffusion gradients going from areas of high concentration to areas of lower concentration. So with time the NaOH diffuses from the area of high concentration outside of the agar cube to areas of lower concentration inside of the cube. Once the Agar cubes had been immersed in the NaOH for ten minutes, we cut each cube in half. On the agar cubes, the pink area represents the depth of diffusion and indicates how far nutrients diffusing into the cell would travel. The percentage of pink area indicates how efficient the diffusion is. The white area is bad because this means there was no diffusion into that region. In theory, any cube with a white area will die since that portion of the cell would not acquire the necessary nutrients. The small cube was the most efficient at gaining nutrients and getting rid of waste as almost all of the cube had turned pink. In conclusion, the best cell size was the small cube because it had the larges SA:Vol ratio and therefore, it had the most diffusion. Analysis On Desert Valley s Budget Adjustment INTERNAL MEMO TO: Marcus Chelford, Ted Amero, and Fernando Lapan FROM: Li Chan, CPA DATE: December 2, 2014 SUBJECT: Activity 2A Budget Adjustment The purpose of this memo is to describe the impact of the change in commodity prices on Desert Valley s budget and suggest ways to mitigate this threat. We conducted some sensitivity analysis on Desert Valley s budget to determine the expected impact of a 2% increase in the price of malt barley and wheat grain. This is especially important given the fact that customers are not willing to increase prices to compensate for the rising cost of these commodities. This puts pressure on Desert Valley to absorb these price shocks and still meet its other financial objectives. As one would expect, a 2% increase on direct materials will lead to an increase in variable costs and in turn, a decrease in profits and contribution margin. The budget impact of this change equates to ($73,322) which represents a (1.06%) hit to profits and a (0.86%) change in contribution margin. This shows that at this point, small percentage changes in commodity prices have a relatively minor impact on the company s financial position. However, if commodity prices continue to fluctuate further or if production volumes increase then this may become a more prevalent issue. To mitigate the risk of future commodity price changes it is recommended that Desert Valley adopt a hedging program by purchasing forward contracts. This would allow the company to ... Labeling Theory And Strain Theory Michael Byrnes Cindy Moore Theories of Criminal Behavior 11/16/14 Labeling Theory and Strain Theory: John Dillinger Introduction: Throughout history there have always been many different theories of crime and why people commit crimes. In the late 1930s a new theory rose to the forefront; this theory was called the anomie theory. Anomie means a lack of ethical standards. The anomie theory was proposed by Roberton Merton. It stated that society, as a whole, generally shares the same goals relating to having success in life; whether that is having a family, wealth, power, or just happiness. Society generally agrees that these are things that are to be sought after. Furthermore, Merton proposed that society, as a whole, also has a list of generally accepted ways to achieve such goals (Merton, 1938). Criminal activity, such as robbery, murder, and corruption, are among the things that are not accepted by society as appropriate means to achieve these goals. Merton s anomie theory was built upon in 1992 by Robert Agnew who developed the general strain theory. General strain theory argues that when members of society are unable to achieve the general goals that society has set forth, they will, in order to avoid further rejection, further alienate themselves from society. Agnew also argued that if these individuals feel as if their shortcomings were a result of their environment failing them they will likely develop very negative feelings towards society, causing them to ... Freud theorized that our minds repressed desires that could summon emotions such as guilt or shame, which could lead to what is called wish fulfillment through dreams, hallucinations, or phases of neurosis. Experiences of intense dream sequences that involve sexual relations with family members, or homicide carried out by the individual or others, are examples of wish fulfillment dreams. Said dreams represent taboos or actions that could result in extreme consequences in reality, so instead, the impulses or yearnings are satisfied within the unconscious where only the individual can truly gain access to.
