Diabetes Research
Mississippi Diabetes Research Proposal
This research proposal creates programs for children living with diabetes so that education and
management of diabetes will continue during school hours. Mississippi State uses programs like these
to address the incidence of diabetes in the state. The incidence and measurement of diabetes in the
state, and at the county level, is completed yearly and quarterly and the state research agencies
collaborate with the federal government both in the reporting requirements and in the building of
programs that address the findings from the reports.

from meeting their daughter s needs. In this case, the eating disturbance may serve the function of
eliciting help from preoccupied parents. Preoedipal and oedipal issues appear to be at the root of many
of these problems (Sours, 1980; Schulman, 2002). Sours (1980), one of the first theorists to study the
role that oedipal and preoedipal issues played in eating disorders, noted that his anorexic patients
demonstrated separation anxieties as well as fear of control. Additional research offers confirmatory
evidence that oedipal and preoedipal issues are salient for women with bulimia (Sperling, 1978;
Wilson, 1992; Schulman, 2002). Therefore, bulimia nervosa (BN) can appropriately be conceptualized
as reflecting both oedipal and preoedipal pathology, depending on the individual s central conflicts.
For individuals whose central conflict reflects an inability to control or inhibit aggressive and libidinal
impulses, bulimic symptoms symbolize one s ambivalence about aggression and sexuality. Food

For individuals whose central conflict reflects an inability to achieve separateness in close
relationships, bulimic symptoms represent ambivalence about separation and dependency. Food is
used to master desires/fears of becoming engulfed by the maternal object. The influence of the mother
daughter relationship in anorexia and bulimia is well documented. For example, Schulman (2002)
argued that the oedipal and preoedipal issues present in BN represent a daughter s attempt to take in a
maternal object and spit her out. Schulman hypothesized that this was a way for the young woman to
remain connected to the mother while also achieving some degree of separation (p. 129). During my

Garrett Morgan Accomplishments
Throughout time there was a large number of the world s most well known creators just delivered one
noteworthy innovation that earned recognition and established their status. Be that as it was, Garret

things; the gas mask and the street light, among many other things. Garrett Augustus Morgan was

and whites. Against all odds though Morgan was able to still be a very successful man throughout his
life. He came up with and protected the first chemical hair straightener, began his own sewing gear
repair business, and even started a daily paper called the Cleveland Call. In any case, Morgan s most
productive achievements came in his part as an inventor. He got a patent for the first gas mask creation

Leadership and Organizational Culture Essay
House et al. (2007) discovers that leadership and Organisational culture are closely linked together as
leaders influence the culture of their organisations. Researches talk about a range of leadership
definitions but it is not easy to define. (E.g. Western, 2008; Yukl, 2010). However, Cohen (2009)
critically analyses definitions from Dracker (1996), Eisenhower (1969), Northouse (2004) and finally
summarised the definition of leadership constitutes five elements. First of all, ask question to set
direction, which means effective leaders need to listen to followers voice respectfully and then share
the common goals and ideas with them. In addition, leaders need to seek insights and allocate
resources optimally; act ethically; allow their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Initially, the big five traits contains Surgency, Conscientiousness, Agreeableness, Adjustment and
Intellectance. With regard to conscientiousness, it involves dependability (loyalty) and need for
achievement. According to Kellaway (2010), she indicates that Lord Sugar asks his employees for
absolute loyalty. After the interview with him, she turned to his Personal assistant (PA) who
commented Alan Sugar as a polite man instead of bullying in public views. Then Kellaway supposed
she was probably afraid to say so and this may be the only reason why she could still work for him.
Another interview (with BBC Journalist), Alan Sugar acknowledged himself as got a strong work
ethic and dislike people who work him for nothing which freshly shows his tough requirements of
achievement oriented. The implication of these traits is positively encourage his followers to make
their efforts to do the right thing in their positions but it will also make them feel a sense of pressure
due to they had no chance to show efforts but results (E.g. in The Apprentice , candidates will be
sentenced by the final achievements rather than what they did during the project). In addition, the final
14 candidates of The apprentice were elected from massive rigorous selection procedures; therefore,
apparently, Alan sugar as a boss must have the same traits as these candidates. For example, one

Comparing The Movie And Lion King
Macbeth the movie and Lion King are very different, but very similar. One is a cartoon animation
movie by Disney and the other is a play written by William Shakespeare that was later produced into a
movie by Ian McKellan. Both movies have a tradegy, but also have a small heros journey and I will
show the comparsion between them both.
First, is the Movie Macbeth, in the beginning, Macbeth gets confonted by three evil witches that are
just bad news. These witches tell Macbeth what he is, Thane of Cawdor, Thane of Glamis and then,
The King herafter (Casson, 1979). Which tells him he will be the king since the witches got the other
two things right. Then Macbeth had to tell the information he got from the witches to his wife.
Macbeth didn t really want to kill King Duncan because he was like father to him, but by telling Lady
Macbeth it persuaded Macbeth to kill King Duncan because he and she wanted the crown now. Lady
Macbeth hosts a party with the king in her house and in the middle of the night she walks and takes a
kitchen knife to stab King Duncan. This makes Malcolm and Donalbain flee to Ireland becuase their
fauther, the king was killed. Then later on Macbeth kills his best friend Banquo because he knew to
much and knew Macbeth had killed King Duncan, he then kills the wife and family of MacDuff to
protect himself from losing the crown. Macbeth then goes back to the witches and asks them for help
and they say when Birnam Woods meets Dunsinane and someone not from woman

Explication of Mary Oliver’s “The Black Snake”
In Mary Oliver s poem The Black Snake, the narrator contemplates the cycle of life with the
unpredictability of death. Mary Oliver s work is known for its natural themes and a continual
affirmation of nature as a place of mystery and spirituality that holds the power to teach humans how
to value one s life and one s place (Riley). In the poem, The Black Snake, the narrator witnesses a
black snake hit by a truck and killed on a road one morning. Feeling sympathy for the snake, the
narrator stops, and removes the dead snake from the road. Noting the snake s beauty, the narrator
carries it from the road to some nearby bushes. Continuing to drive, the narrator reflects on how the
abruptness of death ultimately revealed how the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The truck was the cause of the snake s demise. That is how death happens. The snake symbolizes
death as dark and evil. The second begins with Now, he lies looped and useless (5). Beginning with
when and progressing to now , the poet is suggesting a cause and effect philosophy. The snake quickly
flashed across the road, but after being hit by the truck, lies useless in the road. The poet has given the
snake a male identity. The narrator describes the snake as an old bicycle tire (6). The poet uses this
technique of imagery to portray the now lifeless snake, as an old rubbery tire tube. The narrator reads I
stop the car (7). This conveys that the narrator is an observer, and telling the story from a third person
point of view. The narrator feels some sort of remorse or sympathy for the snake, removes him from
the road, and carries him into the bushes (8). The poet uses bushes to indicate where the snake is taken
to, and hidden or out of sight of the road. The third stanza describes the snake as cool and gleaming as
a braided whip (9 10). Describing the snake as a braided whip demonstrates the intricate woven
pattern of the snake s scales and the poet s appreciation for nature and its beauty. The snake is not a
useless piece of rubber, but a beautiful and vibrant part of nature. He is as beautiful and quiet as a bead
brother (10 11). The snake is quiet, makes no sound, and snuggles into

2a. Steven failed to do several things as a Project Manager. He failed to deliver the product on time
and within budget, as well as managing expectations. His failures were a result of poor planning,
prompt or advance requesting of resources, and a failure to communicate with his team, management
and the end user. Steve s job as the PM is to monitor progress, ensure key stakeholders keep their
people focused on the task and prevent delays, or if delays occur communicate those issues to
management. Managing stake holders and keeping them focused on requirements and due dates goes a
long way towards preventing problems. Steve seems to have failed at this.
2b. Using the creeping requirements as an excuse seems to be a mistake as it implies project
mismanagement. If the project had been properly monitored scope creep could have been detected
early and managed.
2c. As the PM, Steven should have been aware of what was occurring in the project always. Burying
problems prevents them from being brought into the light, analyzed and solved quickly. The adage
that Problems don t get better with time rings true here. Giving problems their due attention ensures
that they can be fixed promptly and

Summary of Case In the case study changing Dynamics of the U.S. Airline industry were discuss and

Delta wanted to increase its liquidity so they decided to sell its subsidiary Atlantic Southeast Airlines
to Sky West Airline for $425 million in August 2005. Analysts believed that Delta was on the merge of
bankruptcy. The Civil Aeronautics Board 9cab) imposed major restriction on marketing entry and
market access. There were regulation on rates, routes and services that reduce amount of competition

They also face competition at their hub airports in Atlanta, Cincinnati, Detroit, Memphis,
Minneapolis/St. Paul, New York JFK, Salt Lake City, Amsterdam and Tokyo Narita. The airline also
has competition in smaller to medium sized markets from regional jet operators. They faces problem
with foreign carriers, both on interior U.S. routes and international markets. The company fares and
rates vary by significant price competition. They set ticket prices in most domestic and international
city pairs without governmental regulation. Prices and rates are subject to the jurisdiction of the DOT
and the government of the foreign countries involved. Most of their tickets are sold by travel agents
therefore fares are subject to commissions, overrides and discounts paid to travel agents, brokers and
wholesalers. Delta is considered to be one of the largest airlines in the United States, capturing
approximately 17.5% of domestic commercial airline market. The market shared is measured in terms
of domestic revenue passenger miles. Delta s operating revenue on a GAAP (2) basis grew 27% to $7
billion in the June 2009 quarter compared to the prior year period as a result of its merger with
Northwest Airlines. On a combined basis (3), total operating revenue declined $2.1 billion, or 23%,
and total unit revenue (RASM) declined 17%. (Delta, 2009). Northwest s operations for the period
from October 30 to December 31, 2008, increase their operating revenue $2.0

Leadership Styles
Introduction
Leadership and management are two different subjects but both are essential for an organizations
growth. Leadership is A relationship through which one person influences the behaviour or actions of
other people (Smith P et al 2012), whilst Management is more about getting things done on a day to
day basis and ensuring consistency (Smith P et al 2012).In simple context Managers helps in doing the
right thing where as Leaders do the right things. Having a strong Leader and Management an

Bureaucracy (Max Weber 1947), Weber states that a bureaucratic organisation is technically the most

There is not a single theory or approach to leadership that fails to recognize that a fundamental quality
of leaders irrespective of whether leadership is innate, learned, situational, or whatever is an ability to
inspire and motivate people (Clegg, S. Et al 2006 Managing and Organizations). One of the key

Class Action Litigation Act Of 2017
Introduction:
Class actions continue to be a hot bed for both litigation and legislation. Gaining traction in the Senate
is the Fairness in Class Action Litigation Act of 2017 (the Act ), which already passed in the House of
Representative by a vote of 220 to 201. But how significant is the Act? And how does it differ from
the current Rule 23 framework and the Class Action Fairness Act ( CAFA ) that was passed in 2005?
Early commentators have come out on both sides, some praising the Act s attempts to cut down on
unmeritorious litigation driven only by plaintiffs attorneys and third party funders, others viewing the
Act s new restrictions as a boon only to defendants. Regardless of how the Act is characterized, if
enacted in its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This often occurs in cases involving consumer products there can be thousands of people who have
not actually been injured but who are merely unhappy with a product, and they are allowed to be a
part of the class. An empirical study found that no injury class actions have resulted in approximately
$4 billion worth of settlements and judgments over the last decade alone.
The new requirement would especially impact securities fraud cases, where the range of investor
losses can differ between a few hundred dollars (for individuals) and hundreds of millions of dollars
(for institutional investors). Similarly, product liability claims would be more difficult to certify,
especially those involving pharmaceuticals, because the symptoms, latent period, and extent of
injuries often vary dramatically across class members.
This new requirement is the change most likely to have the biggest impact on how class actions
proceed, mainly because its language is vague and susceptible to differing interpretations. So, while
on the one hand, the addition of a new requirement may decrease the number of cases that are allowed
to proceed as class actions, on the other hand, there will likely be an increase in litigation dealing with
how type and scope should be interpreted.
Reliable and feasible method of distribution
The Act would add an additional requirement to class certification by requiring that the

The Importance Of Greed In The Gililded Age And The...
Greed is a person who has a selfish and excessive desire for more than is needed. It is putting one s
own self interest ahead while damaging another person (Merriam Webster Dictionary). To be greedy
can include anything from fame, money, status, power, and influence. Although greed has a negative
connotation, there is a positive aspect to it. An example would be self interest. In one s perspective,
they can view self interest as a bad thing; on the other hand, a person can view self interest as
something good. Gordon Gekko made two speeches describing that greed is good and that it is not
good. The endless debate of whether greed is good or bad forces people to evaluate to what end does
greed take part in the Gilded Age and the Industrial Revolution. It makes people take in the
perspective of the relationship between greed, technology, risk taking, and the desire to get ahead.
In a way, greed served as the central component of the Gilded Age and the Industrial Revolution.
Mark Twain coined the term Gilded Age because it describes the facade that covered the economic
and social problems. It illustrates the widening of the gap between the rich and poor (Foner 600). New
advancements in technology such as the railroads and telephones lines cause the United States to
transform economically and politically. This causes rapid immigration into the United States because
there was an abundant amount of jobs created. Corruption started gaining momentum because of the

DreamWorks II Holding Co., LLC is a film production company, which develops and produces films,
along with television programming and video games. The company was founded on October 12, 1994
by Steven Spielberg, David Geffen, and Jeffrey Katzenberg. They officially founded the company
with the financial backing of $33 million from each of the three cofounders, and $500 million from
Microsoft co founder Paul Allen, putting the value of the company at the time around $2.7 billion. The
goal of the trio was to initiate and organize an artist friendly studio, in order to produce, develop, and
distribute exceptional film entertainment that would entertain audiences all around the world.
DreamWorks is a dominant producer of live action films, network syndicated cable television

that was spun off in 2004, creating the publicly traded company, known as DreamWorks Animation
SKG (NASDAQ:DWA). The three founders of DreamWorks were already titans in their respective

My First Disney Trip
My first Disney trip was everything I imagined and more. Disney is the most magical place on Earth.
Although I was scared to get on all the big rides I still managed to get on. I would stay calm in all of
the lines, but whenever I saw I was about to get on the ride I would get the biggest knots in my
stomach. On Tower of Terror, I was very close to crying, but I got through it. A very scary ride is
Space Mountain. It was like I wanted to start balling out crying, but it was just tears falling out of my
eyes. I also hated big drops at the time. The rides with big drops like Splash Mountain, Tower of
Terror, and Space Mountain made me lose my stomach. My favorite roller coaster is Rockin Roller
Coaster. Rockin Roller Coaster is a fast loopy loop ride, but it s very smooth and easy going. I do not
like jerky rides like the primeval whirl that jerks you every which way.
There are also 4 parks to go to in Disney. There is Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and
Hollywood Studios. My favorite park is the Magic Kingdom because there is more to do there, but I
like the other ones too.
I also love the food at Disney World. They have the best fries ever. Their ice cream is also amazing.
There is this ice cream called Pine Apple Dole Whip and it is the best you ll ever taste. The best
restaurants at Disney is Cosmic Rays, Dino Bite, and, Casey s Corner. I always get fries and chicken
tenders.
One of the things I love about Disney is the memories we make with family and friends.

Parenthood Should No Longer Be Funded By The Federal...
Millions of taxpayer dollars are going to fund Planned Parenthood. Along with the Obamacare
introduction, Planned Parenthood has become a secondary cost to make sure women have health care
throughout the United States. Along with the wasted money being spent, Planned Parenthood has
other issues. The high cost of administration and the sale of fetus tissue and organs have become the
latest in an agency out of control. Because of the wasteful administration of funds and ethical
questions about disposing of fetuses, Planned Parenthood should no longer be funded by the Federal
government.
The tax paying citizens of the United States should know the cost and wasteful spending habits
Planned Parenthood is conducted within the agency. Once the citizens become aware of the wasteful
spending of millions of dollars, they will be able to take a stance against this agency s policy. With the
knowledge acquired, the citizens will be able to make a fully informed decision when asking their
congressman to vote against funding of Planned Parenthood. American Birth Control League s name
changed to Planned Parenthood, which enabled the organization to encompass a new image and justify
funding from the government and wealthy donors (Perry 1). The agency has influenced the birth

The Israeli Defense Force makes effective use of the then modern tanks and fighter bomber aircraft in
the 1967 Six Day War. Their perceived superiority or tactic and technology is quickly overran by
improved tactics and Soviet provided technology of the Egyptians in 1973. At this time IDF believe
the tactics based on their modern technology to be superior allowing their technical advancement and
tactical development stagnate. Failing to adjust their strategy and adjust their technology from what
had been previously used leads to them paying a heavy price in the opening days of the war. Just as
tactics are continuously improving to counter an enemy also priority on new technology development
is an imperative to counter the enemy s technology. During the 1991 Gulf War the M829A1 main gun
rounds of the M1A1 Abrams effectively defeats the armor of the Soviet based T72, once thought to be
the world s best battle tank. This demonstrates how modern technology thought to be adequate for the
job is defeated by more advanced developments specifically created to counter it. This conclusion also
warns against the overreliance on Technology, especially electronic based technology, can be costly.
Electronics can easily fail, break, be jammed or otherwise made ineffective by enemy forces. If a
military force relies solely on electronic technology to accomplish mundane task such as targeting,
navigation, or battle tracking the traditional skill set can be lost. Soldiers must continue to learn and
maintain skills in certain areas without reliance on technology to be effective in future battles.
Warfighters should continue to utilize newly developed technologies to aid in accomplishing these

Chemiluminescence Lab
In this experiment, luminol, a compound that produces chemiluminescence when oxidized in the
presence of a base by an oxidizing agent like hydrogen peroxide, was synthesized, and its presence
was confirmed by observing chemiluminescence. Cheminluminescence is the process by which a
photon is released when a reaction occurs, producing light. A similar process, bioluminescence is
observed in nature when fireflies and jellyfish produce light. Chemiluminescence is identical to
bioluminescence, except for the fact that bioluminescence involves an enzyme, whereas
chemiluminescence uses a chemical catalyst.
Two types of light emission are fluorescence and phosphorescence. In its stable condition, an electron
exists in a ground singlet state. During a reaction, it may absorb energy and become elevated to an
excited state. In most situations, the electron returns to the ground singlet state by passing through a
number of vibrational states and releasing energy, which is not perceived by the human eye. However,
sometimes an electron may release energy all at once in one packet to go from its excited ... Show

The nitro group was then reduced using sodium hydroulfite dihydrate, a reducing agent, to form an
amino group. This reaction was easily reversible. The product formed was luminol, and in the
presence of potassium ferrocyanide, an oxidizing agent, and hydroxide groups from KOH to
deprotonate the product, its two amide groups formed two carboxylate groups, releasing NH2 in the
process. The energy from this reaction also excited an electron in the HOMO (highest occupied
molecular orbital) to the triplet state LUMO (lowest unoccupied molecular orbital). This electron then
relaxed into a singlet excited state, before relaxing down to the ground state, releasing a photon in a

Bright Pacific Future Research Paper
The Bright Pacific Future for the U.S. is the opportunity for America to reach greater success on a
global landscape. The Pacific region off of the coast of California is home to resources and materials
that will benefit the United States on multiple levels. In terms of bettering the U.S. economy, culture,
and foreign relations, the future for America is currently in the islands off of the Pacific coast. In terms
of improving the American economy there are three categories that will help benefit the United States:
fuels, furs, and fertilizer. For fuel, the islands across the Pacific Ocean allow for transportation of coal

President Dwight D. Eisenhower transfers title of Kaho olawe to the U.S. Navy with the provision that
it be returned in a condition for suitable habitation when no longer needed by the military. The influx
of traders, missionaries and ranchers to the Hawaiian Islands brought diseases to the native
population, which shrunk from 300,000 at the time of Cook s arrival to 50,000 a century later. Also,
overgrazing by imported cattle, sheep and goats did similar damage to the land of Kaho`olawe,
stripping native vegetation and causing soil erosion and runoff, which in turn damaged the ancient
fishing spots and the marine ecosystem. The day after Japan s attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, with

This layer is also called the Workgroup layer.
6. Does this network need a core layer? What devices would operate at the core layer?
The core layer is considered the backbone of the network and includes the high end switches and high
speed cables such as fiber cables. This layer of the network does not route traffic at the LAN. In
addition, no packet manipulation is done by devices in this layer. Rather, this layer is concerned with
speed and ensures reliable delivery of packets.
7. Is redundancy required at any layer of this network? If it is, where and how would this redundancy
be added to the network? What device or devices would be used to make this network redundant?
A goal of redundant topologies is to eliminate network down time caused by a single point of failure.
All networks need redundancy for enhanced reliability. Network reliability is achieved through
reliable equipment and network designs that are tolerant to failures and faults. Networks should be
designed to reconverge rapidly so that the fault is bypassed.
In a redundant mesh topology network devices are connected with many redundant interconnections
between network nodes. In a true mesh topology every node has a connection to every other node in
the network. A mesh network with redundant connections is an example of a redundant topology. The
level of redundancy can be measured by network connectivity.
On a redundantly connected network if a

the system of serfdom, so extreme that it could barely be distinguished with slavery... serfs could be

Disparities Of The 2014 Reported Burglary And Theft...
This paper analyses the disparities of the 2014 reported burglary and theft statistics between the,
Auckland City District (ACD) and Waitematā District (WD). The statistics are reported by the
National Police Headquarters as of April 2015 (New Zealand Police, 2015). Therefore, Police
reporting practices will be discussed to point out the strengths and weaknesses of the reported data.
Secondly, the Routine Activities and Social Disorganisation theories will be used to provide an
explanation for the differences in recorded burglary and theft statistics. Lastly possible policy
solutions to reduce the amount of crime reported to and recorded by Police will be discussed. As it
appears, burglary and theft offences are higher amongst the Auckland City district than the Waitematā.
These results are consistent with the Routine Activity and Social Disorganisation theories as there are
more suitable targets, less collective efficacy and more incapable guardians within the ACD due to
structural deficiency.
The ACD cover the areas within Herne Bay, Freeman s Bay, St Helier s, Onehunga and Avondale,
including Waiheke and Great Barrier Islands (NZ Police: Police Districts). The Waitematā Police
District includes, New Lynn, the North Shore, Devonport up to Mangawhai and also the motorway

The Most Important Lessons For Military Leaders Essay
War is merely the continuation of policy by other means. Thus, in the sense of Clausewitz, national
military objectives have to derive from national policy. The 2015 NMS identifies three National
Military Objectives with an integrated approach: to deter, deny, and defeat state adversaries; to disrupt,
degrade, and defeat Violent Extremist Organizations (VEOs); and to strengthen our global network of
allies and partners. The most important lessons for military leaders for achieving these three military
objectives are: how to adhere and adjust the right cause in the realm of Just War Theory before going
to war; prepare for the full spectrum of 21st warfare from humanitarian assistance and disaster relief
operation over counterinsurgency and hybrid warfare to high end war against a state on state
adversary. This wicked problem, to prepare for every imaginable scenario with decreasing resources
and overall strength, has to be solved by US armed forces, because the political leadership gave it this
task. This paper will focus on the most likely future scenarios for US military missions in the near
future and provide lessons and recommendations to be successful. Therefore, a short overview of the
hierarchical structure of US security documents has to be addressed to understand the three military
objectives in the context of political objectives. Afterward, three case studies will present the most

Insanity In Edgar Allan Poe s The Tell Tale Heart
Insanity is not always seen directly from the outside. Edgar Allan Poe once said, I became insane, with
long intervals of horrible sanity. Someone may appear normal, but no one can read someone else s
mind when it comes to mental health. In Edgar Allan Poe s short story The Tell Tale Heart, the
narrator strives to support his lucidity after murdering the old man under his care. Although he
repeatedly claims that he is logical and acts with sagacity, the narrator s noetic process and behaviors
indicate he actually is insane. The narrator s lack of reason and auditory hallucinations provide proof
of his dementia. To begin with, the narrator s lack of reason for his groundless actions provides
evidence for his insanity, contradicting the belief that he is mentally stable. The narrator had no
rational reason to murder the old man. For example, the narrator stated Object there was none. Passion
there was none. I loved the old man. He had never wronged me. He had never given me insult (p 1).
Therefore, the old man had never done anything to harm the narrator, nor had he ever wronged him in
any way. The only reason the narrator killed the old man was because he was deranged in multiple
ways; one of his significant reasons however, was because he felt the old man s eye was threatening.
Moreover, he says Whenever it [the eye] fell upon me, my blood ran cold; and so by degrees very

Abstract
Rainfall induced landslide hazards in Kenya represents a major challenge and remain an important
issue in disaster management especially in Kenya s central province region where the effects are very
common with the onset of El nin ̃o rains. The main aim of this study is to develop a rainfall induced
landslide probability map for Kenya s central province. In order to achieve this, process based
methods were used to map landslide areas using the following factors: slope, rainfall, land cover
change,Normalized DifferenceVegetation Index (NDVI)change, Curvature, watershed, and soil
characteristic including: type, texture, soil bulk density, Base Saturation, and Total Water Available
Distribution Map. The minimum conditions were set for each factor for landslide occurrence. Slope
stability mapping was done to determine the stable areas and thus derive the probability of landslide
occurrence. Statistical methods were then employed by means of weights of evidence to achieve the
probability weights for each factor considered to cause landslides. The factors were then overlaid

Advertising is a form of marketing communications, in which the effort taken by the sender to provide
him with a high range of control over the message reaching its destination. Advertising, depending on
the media used, can act in an integrated way or selective word, picture and sound. At the same time
the mechanism of interactions advertising tool makes it particularly suitable for the implementation of
quality communication purposes is therefore justified its use in the process of image. Appreciate the
usefulness of this tool, among others, commercial enterprises, social organisations and more often the
city.
Cities are competing products on the market. Achieving competitive advantage occurs through
properly formulated and implemented development strategy, taking into account the strengths and
weaknesses of the area and the opportunities and threats in the environment. A special feature of any
city is its brand, name, crest, logo, history and present, historical monuments and modern
achievements, the works of nature and man, the atmosphere and finally the residents themselves. City
brand, covering everything creates a given city and at the same time meets the needs of different
segments, represents an important strategic tool

Queen Cecily s Leadership Style
A high stone ceiling etched with fine silver filagree arched above the cavernous throne room. Below
this, dark marble floors were polished until their inky surfaces shone like glass. The walls were
intersected by evenly spaced archways leading to doorways which, in turn, led to various other parts
of the castle. A carpet of bloodred velvet stretched the length of the hall, leading from the massive,
ebony doors at one end to the high backed throne at the other end. The person sitting in this throne,
however, looked out of place. One would expect a regal figure with striking features, perhaps
resplendent in intricate robes and a heavy crown wrought with gold and fine gems. Instead, Queen
Cecily, a plain looking, twelve year old girl, sat hunched in the straight backed chair, not ... Show

Since Queen Cecily had been a very small child when she had ascended the throne, the Chancellor had
been tasked with directing the Queendom until she became an adult. He, of course, had no intention of
handing over the role of supreme leader anytime soon, and was planning on ruling for the rest of his
life, using the Queen as a puppet to direct as he pleased. Queen Cecily didn t mind in the slightest that
she had no say in how her Queendom was run; politics bored her. In fact, she was quite happy to go
along with whatever Thanos said, seeing as he was handsome, charming, and gave her his undivided
attention and affection. The woman straightened, brushing her long, dark hair away from her face to
reveal a smooth, alabaster complexion and a set of piercing green and gold eyes. She smiled, although
the smile never touched her eyes. They remained cold and calculating, like the eyes of a predator.
Indeed they were the eyes of a predator; the woman was a Witch, the most talented, and cold blooded,
Witch in the Queendom, second only to Queen Cecily and the Chancellor

Daniel H. Pink s Theory
Regardless of where I go, that one urge to develop myself will always be there. Motivation for me has
been somewhat of a simple term until I discovered the different types. I feel as though I have a fair
amount of control regarding my future career because I can t take some classes just yet without getting
into other classes. I have not very much control over if the class gets full or is not a good time to take
or even require some prerequisites. The two motivations that have been discussed in the book Drive
by Daniel H. Pink, come from inside and outside. As I already know that some of our motivation is
going based off of our instincts as humans and other parts of motivation come from a reward or a
punishment, but there has been a third type discovered that has explained the reason for wanting to
grow as a person and it is known as motivation 3.0. I agree that motivation 1.0 and 2.0 are useful to an
extent because of my experience with both types working then at some point being limited or losing
motivation confirms it. Pink states that motivation 2.0 works but not that well and it is not something
to rely on (P.19). I want to be a registered nurse and going based off of the ... Show more content on

Pink s theory of motivation 3.0 is extremely useful because it sheds light on the type of motivation
that seems to actually work so far. Motivation can come from various sources such as internally as
something we know or are born to do or externally whether it is something we learn or develop. I plan
to implement motivation 3.0 into my career field because it requires what motivation 3.0 has, I will
need to practice, work on getting better and work on things after work is over. The goal that I have set
for myself from what I ve noticed will get me to the spot that I want to be in one way or another.
There are different types of motivation but they can be compared to one

Descriptive Essay On Weather
The winds outside howled as I played a board game with a friend at school. The rain battered the
windows of the cafeteria, and I assumed that this was just an ordinary storm. Well, I was wrong. My
thoughts about the weather would be forever altered, and I found out just how stunningly frightening
severe weather can be.
It was just another ordinary day of 5th grade. It was cloudy outside, and we had heard about the severe
weather that might come on the news. We just shooed the precautions away and forgot about it. That
is, until it started storming. Bad idea. I was at my before school program, JCPRD. I sat with Anna, my
best friend, peering out of the large, blue tinted windows at the enraged clouds outside. They gushed
rain and radiated lightning, illuminating our nervous faces. We were starting to get concerned. The
distant, eerie roars of thunder filled our ears as the sheets of rain spilled from the roof and lashed the
building. This seemed bad, but the situation only grew worse. My heart started to thud faster and
louder as I walked to my classroom. The winds were whooshing louder and louder, and the thunder
was growing more and more rapid.
Good morning class, My teacher, Mr. Whalen, said as we all walked in. Today a severe weather threat
has been issued, so be ready if we have to go to a tornado shelter room.
The only reason I liked tornado drills was that we sometimes got to go in the teacher lounge. Other
times, we had to go into the bathroom, which I hated. I

She’s Come Undone by Wally Lamb Essay
Before taking this course, I always looked at films and read books just as the average person does;
interesting plot and how long will it hold my interest, but this course gave me an entire different
perspective when watching films and reading books. Now that I have taken this course and have
watched the required films, the most important thing when watching other movies and reading books,
is the meaning behind each scene and how they relate and affect our world. For this paper, I will
discuss a book that I read a long time ago, which is She s Come Undone by Wally Lamb and how this
book relates to this course. She s Come Undone is a story about a girl named Dolores Price. In this
book, the author takes you through Dolores life, starting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this particular film Harold was very interested in death, and because of this he attempted many fake
suicide attempts as a cry for help and attention. When Harold meets a woman named Maude, she
teaches him many life lessons and the importance of living life to the fullest. In turn Harold opens up
to her about his thoughts and feelings and the two of them become great friends. This film relates to
She s Come Undone because just like Harold, Dolores battled her own issues and attempted suicide.
Both of these characters meet people who help them understand that life is worth living no matter the
struggles or hardships we face. With Harold, there was Maude and for Dolores, there was Dr. Shaw.
Dr. Frost mentioned something in the notes that I believe helped both of these characters get through
there hard times and that is: One of the most powerful and saving emotions is laughter. It helps keep
us healthy both emotionally and physically. We can literally laugh our way out of illness! During the
talks with Maude and the therapy sessions with Dr. Shaw, both Harold and Dolores were able to laugh
through their troubles. As I mentioned before, I really enjoyed this course because it gave me a
different perspective on what to look for when watching films and read books. She s Come Undone
was a great book the first time I read it and even better this time around. This book relates to the other
films as well, but the

Vollmann Poor People
Nelson Mandela once said, Poverty is not natural it s man made. This quote states that a person can
overcome poverty if one has the desire to live a better life. In a novel called Poor People written by
William T. Vollmann, the author travels around different countries and places to learn about poor
people and to get a global perspective view. While interviewing different kinds of people, Vollmann
would ask them one question: why are you poor? Looking at people s answers Vollmann noticed that
some of the people gave quite interesting answers. Vollmann went through a lot of situations where he
just couldn t imagine what life would be if he was ever to live like that. Another novel that has a
similar poverty situation is called Let The Water Hold Me Down, written by Michael Spurgeon. Hank,
the main character of the novel, experiences a tragic moment in his life. Losing his wife and daughter
while drowning, this tragedy left him feeling like it s all due to his miscarrying about them. His life
becomes full of sorrow, and the only way out it was to go to Mexico to his friend s place and restart
his life over. In a new country of Mexico, this story takes place. Even though he had money, a house,
and friends support, he still experienced lots of pressure trying to survive in Mexico. Poverty has
different meanings in everyone s lives but by reading these two novels, there are three similarities that
can be made about people living in poverty.

Steel and Poem
Analysis of Pat Mora s La Migra
Pat Mora s La Migra is a poem presenting two speakers, one female and one male, who are playing
the game La Migra which means border patrol agents . Mora creates a snapshot of the dangers of
living near the Mexican border through the narrators game . The poem is written with childish
language, but includes ambiguity of whether the players are children approaching a disturbingly
mature theme or whether they re adults trying to minimize the stress of the situation. Despite both
interpretations being decently supported by the text, I support the first for a few key reasons.
The piece is broken into two parts, I and II, which clearly defines there being two speakers. Each
section presents a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
4) A runner s starting point in a race. The speaker uses marks as a metaphor to her life. This one word
organizes the entire poem by setting the direction, tone, and meaning of the poem. With its multiple
meanings, the word marks plays a significant role. By analyzing the word marks in the context of the
poem, I want to demonstrate the absolute necessity of that one word in this particular poem.
The woman s life is graded with marks. A mark, meaning grade, is usually something that has nothing
to do with a housewife or a mother. However, in this poem marks play a vital role in the speaker s
identity. Her family gives her grades as a housewife and a mother. The word marks compares and
contrasts her life with standards that are not her own. Grades are a part of the woman s life, for she is
identified through them. Marks are the result of accomplishing a certain standard (e.g. 80% is a B,
90% and above is an A, etc). Students strive to get good grades because good grades equals good
student. Grades identify who you are. It doesn t matter how much time and effort you have spent only
the result counts. In this poem, the woman s entire life is defined and evaluated with grades: for her
husband she is an A, an incomplete, and a B+; for her son she is average; for her daughter she is a
Pass. It is interesting that all the marks the woman receives from her family are not bad at all (besides
the incomplete, which can be

Plea Bargains In Prisons
American prison food was already subpar to begin with, but with budget cuts and efforts to save
money, many prisons and companies chose to make cuts with the quality and amounts of food given to
the prisoners. The Schuylkill County Prison in Pennsylvania was sued for not feeding their inmates
enough to feed a child (Santo Iaboni, 2015). Some prisons, and private companies, generally go by a
calorie minimum that must be provided, which sometimes allow for prisoners to only get two meals a
day, these meals can cost as low as 56 cents per meal, and supposedly these menus are being reviewed
by a nutritionist (Santo Iaboni, 2015). One of these meal programs provided by a prison in Maricopa
County, Arizona has even chosen to cut out meat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A more common practice would be fines, followed by suspended sentences (Subramanian Shames,

penalties can also be a possible sentence, like suspended sentences, the offender is still in the
community and under a supervisor, but is also required to complete a work order, which can be
training or another community based activity which teaches the offender different behavioral or
communication skills (Subramanian Shames, 2014). These penalties are allowing offenders to

Conjoined twins twenty years experience at a reference center in Brazil, which may be accessed for

for my research article was conjoined twins as a whole population for lack of a better term, and the
dependent variable for my research article was the different ways they are conjoined and the options
they (their parents) have to optimize their lives. My hypothesis was that surgeries in most cases would

This puts twice the strain on the organs before the actual conjoined factor is even entered into the
picture. The two organs that cause the most medical problems when separation procedures occur is the
liver and the heart, if these two organs are shared, the twins cannot be separated without certain death.
Another medical hardship for doctors is the fact that each case is unique. There is no medical
handbook for the treatment of conjoined twins like their is with many other conditions. When you get
cancer you do chemotherapy, when you break your leg you get a cast, when you get dehydrated your
get IV fluids, but with conjoined twins every case is different making the medical side very difficult.
The last problem that occurs is the better growth and development of the twin who is natural favored.

(Descriptive Essay) (Title) A SWIMMING ADVENTURE
A SWIMMING ADVENTURE By Misty Moore Awaking early, I decided to sit on the screened porch
and watch the Florida sun come up. Within a very short time as I sat there, the sun peaked on the
horizon as it gradually awakened from its night of slumber. The dew sparkled like diamonds as the sun
s rays tenderly caressed the grass. Off in the distance, I could hear the world spring to life as the birds
began to sing a spectacular melody, growing louder and louder as each bird began to chirp in unison,
like a choir singing in church on Sunday morning. A new day had dawned and I remember thinking
how magnificent the birds song was and what a wonderful day it was going to be. Returning to my
duties as a mom, I started making breakfast for my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

began to swim; we slowly swam under the blue water and up again and I could hear them giggle with
excitement and say Do it again mommy, do it again . A short time later a commotion broke out
interrupting our games, I struggled to hear what everyone was shouting about and saw people running
to the water s edge and pointing about fifty feet from where the children and I were playing. Looking
in the direction they were pointing, a man with his daughter in tow yells, SHARK! without hesitation,
I yelled to my son, Michael, get out of the water! I grabbed Laura and Misty and headed to shore. My
adrenalin pumping we reached the shore incredibly fast, like a bolt of lightning streaking across the
night sky. Only when we were safely on shore did we look back to see three fins just skimming the
surface of the water. I stood there stunned and shocked watching the fins, wondering what kinds of
sharks they were and very grateful that everyone was in one piece. A few minutes later, the fins
disappeared beneath the surface and everyone was treated to a wondrous sight, there off in the
distance, were three dolphins jumping high into the air and making a big splash as they entered the

The Solar Of Solar Module
Purpose
In the present era where energy demands growing rapidly the solar module is one of the solutions and
a good one. More energy from the sunlight strikes the Earth in one hour (4.3 × 1020 J) than all the
energy consumed on the planet in a year (4.1 × 1020 J) therefore solar energy has a bright future
ahead. The first solar cell was invented in 1953 and had efficacy rate of 4 present while toady s solar
cell is 40 present efficient. SolarCity is using the one of the efficient solar panels which yields 30 to 40
percent more energy than similar size solar module available in the market.
Components
There are many components those makes a solar panel. These components can be defined as external
and internal components. A basic unit of the solar module is a solar cell and many solar cells create
one solar module and more than one solar module creates an array.
External Components
External components are components which are used in the solar module s external body as mention
in the figure below in layers.
Frame
Framing play a very important role in a solar module because it will hold the panels together in
addition, it protect the solar module from many environmental factors for instance wind and rain.
Aluminum is commonly used in the solar module framing because of its unique properties.

Preoedipal and oedipal issues appear to be at the root of many of these problems (Sours, 1980; Schulman, 2002). Sours (1980), one of the first theorists to study the role that oedipal and preoedipal issues played in eating disorders, noted that his anorexic patients demonstrated separation anxieties as well as fear of control. Additional research offers confirmatory evidence that oedipal and preoedipal issues are salient for women with bulimia (Sperling, 1978; Wilson, 1992; Schulman, 2002). Therefore, bulimia nervosa (BN) can appropriately be conceptualized as reflecting both oedipal and preoedipal pathology, depending on the individual s central conflicts. For individuals whose central conflict reflects an inability to control or inhibit aggressive and libidinal impulses, bulimic symptoms symbolize one s ambivalence about aggression and sexuality. For individuals whose central conflict reflects an inability to achieve separateness in close relationships, bulimic symptoms represent ambivalence about separation and dependency. Food is used to master desires/fears of becoming engulfed by the maternal object. The influence of the mother daughter relationship in anorexia and bulimia is well documented. For example, Schulman (2002) argued that the oedipal and preoedipal issues present in BN represent a daughter s attempt to take in a maternal object and spit her out. Schulman hypothesized that this was a way for the young woman to remain connected to the mother while also achieving some degree of separation (p. 129). • 5. Leadership and Organizational Culture Essay House et al. (2007) discovers that leadership and Organisational culture are closely linked together as leaders influence the culture of their organisations. Researches talk about a range of leadership definitions but it is not easy to define. (E.g. Western, 2008; Yukl, 2010). However, Cohen (2009) critically analyses definitions from Dracker (1996), Eisenhower (1969), Northouse (2004) and finally summarised the definition of leadership constitutes five elements. Initially, the big five traits contains Surgency, Conscientiousness, Agreeableness, Adjustment and Intellectance. With regard to conscientiousness, it involves dependability (loyalty) and need for achievement. According to Kellaway (2010), she indicates that Lord Sugar asks his employees for absolute loyalty. After the interview with him, she turned to his Personal assistant (PA) who commented Alan Sugar as a polite man instead of bullying in public views. Then Kellaway supposed she was probably afraid to say so and this may be the only reason why she could still work for him. Another interview (with BBC Journalist), Alan Sugar acknowledged himself as got a strong work ethic and dislike people who work him for nothing which freshly shows his tough requirements of achievement oriented. The implication of these traits is positively encourage his followers to make their efforts to do the right thing in their positions but it will also make them feel a sense of pressure due to they had no chance to show efforts but results (E.g. in The Apprentice , candidates will be sentenced by the final achievements rather than what they did during the project). One is a cartoon animation movie by Disney and the other is a play written by William Shakespeare that was later produced into a movie by Ian McKellan. Both movies have a tradegy, but also have a small heros journey and I will show the comparsion between them both. First, is the Movie Macbeth, in the beginning, Macbeth gets confonted by three evil witches that are just bad news. These witches tell Macbeth what he is, Thane of Cawdor, Thane of Glamis and then, The King herafter (Casson, 1979). Which tells him he will be the king since the witches got the other two things right. Then Macbeth had to tell the information he got from the witches to his wife. Macbeth didn t really want to kill King Duncan because he was like father to him, but by telling Lady Macbeth it persuaded Macbeth to kill King Duncan because he and she wanted the crown now. Lady Macbeth hosts a party with the king in her house and in the middle of the night she walks and takes a kitchen knife to stab King Duncan. This makes Malcolm and Donalbain flee to Ireland becuase their fauther, the king was killed. Then later on Macbeth kills his best friend Banquo because he knew to much and knew Macbeth had killed King Duncan, he then kills the wife and family of MacDuff to protect himself from losing the crown. Mary Oliver s work is known for its natural themes and a continual affirmation of nature as a place of mystery and spirituality that holds the power to teach humans how to value one s life and one s place (Riley). In the poem, The Black Snake, the narrator witnesses a black snake hit by a truck and killed on a road one morning. That is how death happens. The snake symbolizes death as dark and evil. The second begins with Now, he lies looped and useless (5). Beginning with when and progressing to now , the poet is suggesting a cause and effect philosophy. The snake quickly flashed across the road, but after being hit by the truck, lies useless in the road. The poet has given the snake a male identity. The narrator describes the snake as an old bicycle tire (6). The poet uses this technique of imagery to portray the now lifeless snake, as an old rubbery tire tube. The narrator reads I stop the car (7). This conveys that the narrator is an observer, and telling the story from a third person point of view. The narrator feels some sort of remorse or sympathy for the snake, removes him from the road, and carries him into the bushes (8). The poet uses bushes to indicate where the snake is taken to, and hidden or out of sight of the road. The third stanza describes the snake as cool and gleaming as a braided whip (9 10). Describing the snake as a braided whip demonstrates the intricate woven pattern of the snake s scales and the poet s appreciation for nature and its beauty. The snake is not a useless piece of rubber, but a beautiful and vibrant part of nature. He is as beautiful and quiet as a bead brother (10 11). His failures were a result of poor planning, prompt or advance requesting of resources, and a failure to communicate with his team, management and the end user. Steve s job as the PM is to monitor progress, ensure key stakeholders keep their people focused on the task and prevent delays, or if delays occur communicate those issues to management. Managing stake holders and keeping them focused on requirements and due dates goes a long way towards preventing problems. Steve seems to have failed at this. 2b. This often occurs in cases involving consumer products there can be thousands of people who have not actually been injured but who are merely unhappy with a product, and they are allowed to be a part of the class. An empirical study found that no injury class actions have resulted in approximately $4 billion worth of settlements and judgments over the last decade alone. The new requirement would especially impact securities fraud cases, where the range of investor losses can differ between a few hundred dollars (for individuals) and hundreds of millions of dollars (for institutional investors). Similarly, product liability claims would be more difficult to certify, especially those involving pharmaceuticals, because the symptoms, latent period, and extent of injuries often vary dramatically across class members. This new requirement is the change most likely to have the biggest impact on how class actions proceed, mainly because its language is vague and susceptible to differing interpretations. So, while on the one hand, the addition of a new requirement may decrease the number of cases that are allowed to proceed as class actions, on the other hand, there will likely be an increase in litigation dealing with how type and scope should be interpreted. It is putting one s own self interest ahead while damaging another person (Merriam Webster Dictionary). To be greedy can include anything from fame, money, status, power, and influence. Although greed has a negative connotation, there is a positive aspect to it. An example would be self interest. In one s perspective, they can view self interest as a bad thing; on the other hand, a person can view self interest as something good. Gordon Gekko made two speeches describing that greed is good and that it is not good. The endless debate of whether greed is good or bad forces people to evaluate to what end does greed take part in the Gilded Age and the Industrial Revolution. It makes people take in the perspective of the relationship between greed, technology, risk taking, and the desire to get ahead. In a way, greed served as the central component of the Gilded Age and the Industrial Revolution. Mark Twain coined the term Gilded Age because it describes the facade that covered the economic and social problems. It illustrates the widening of the gap between the rich and poor (Foner 600). On Tower of Terror, I was very close to crying, but I got through it. A very scary ride is Space Mountain. It was like I wanted to start balling out crying, but it was just tears falling out of my eyes. I also hated big drops at the time. The rides with big drops like Splash Mountain, Tower of Terror, and Space Mountain made me lose my stomach. My favorite roller coaster is Rockin Roller Coaster. Rockin Roller Coaster is a fast loopy loop ride, but it s very smooth and easy going. I do not like jerky rides like the primeval whirl that jerks you every which way. There are also 4 parks to go to in Disney. There is Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios. My favorite park is the Magic Kingdom because there is more to do there, but I like the other ones too. I also love the food at Disney World. They have the best fries ever. Their ice cream is also amazing. There is this ice cream called Pine Apple Dole Whip and it is the best you ll ever taste. Along with the Obamacare introduction, Planned Parenthood has become a secondary cost to make sure women have health care throughout the United States. Along with the wasted money being spent, Planned Parenthood has other issues. The high cost of administration and the sale of fetus tissue and organs have become the latest in an agency out of control. Because of the wasteful administration of funds and ethical questions about disposing of fetuses, Planned Parenthood should no longer be funded by the Federal government. Their perceived superiority or tactic and technology is quickly overran by improved tactics and Soviet provided technology of the Egyptians in 1973. At this time IDF believe the tactics based on their modern technology to be superior allowing their technical advancement and tactical development stagnate. Failing to adjust their strategy and adjust their technology from what had been previously used leads to them paying a heavy price in the opening days of the war. Just as tactics are continuously improving to counter an enemy also priority on new technology development is an imperative to counter the enemy s technology. During the 1991 Gulf War the M829A1 main gun rounds of the M1A1 Abrams effectively defeats the armor of the Soviet based T72, once thought to be the world s best battle tank. This demonstrates how modern technology thought to be adequate for the job is defeated by more advanced developments specifically created to counter it. This conclusion also warns against the overreliance on Technology, especially electronic based technology, can be costly. Electronics can easily fail, break, be jammed or otherwise made ineffective by enemy forces. If a military force relies solely on electronic technology to accomplish mundane task such as targeting, navigation, or battle tracking the traditional skill set can be lost. Chemiluminescence Lab In this experiment, luminol, a compound that produces chemiluminescence when oxidized in the presence of a base by an oxidizing agent like hydrogen peroxide, was synthesized, and its presence was confirmed by observing chemiluminescence. Cheminluminescence is the process by which a photon is released when a reaction occurs, producing light. A similar process, bioluminescence is observed in nature when fireflies and jellyfish produce light. Chemiluminescence is identical to bioluminescence, except for the fact that bioluminescence involves an enzyme, whereas chemiluminescence uses a chemical catalyst. Two types of light emission are fluorescence and phosphorescence. In its stable condition, an electron exists in a ground singlet state. During a reaction, it may absorb energy and become elevated to an excited state. The statistics are reported by the National Police Headquarters as of April 2015 (New Zealand Police, 2015). Therefore, Police reporting practices will be discussed to point out the strengths and weaknesses of the reported data. Secondly, the Routine Activities and Social Disorganisation theories will be used to provide an explanation for the differences in recorded burglary and theft statistics. Lastly possible policy solutions to reduce the amount of crime reported to and recorded by Police will be discussed. As it appears, burglary and theft offences are higher amongst the Auckland City district than the Waitematā. These results are consistent with the Routine Activity and Social Disorganisation theories as there are more suitable targets, less collective efficacy and more incapable guardians within the ACD due to structural deficiency. The ACD cover the areas within Herne Bay, Freeman s Bay, St Helier s, Onehunga and Avondale, including Waiheke and Great Barrier Islands (NZ Police: Police Districts). The Waitematā Police District includes, New Lynn, the North Shore, Devonport up to Mangawhai and also the motorway stretch from Bombay Hills to Orewa (NZ Police: Police Districts). According to NZ Police (2015), an offense is recorded if they believe that an offense has been committed. As of 2014, the recorded ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. The Most Important Lessons For Military Leaders Essay War is merely the continuation of policy by other means. Thus, in the sense of Clausewitz, national military objectives have to derive from national policy. The 2015 NMS identifies three National Military Objectives with an integrated approach: to deter, deny, and defeat state adversaries; to disrupt, degrade, and defeat Violent Extremist Organizations (VEOs); and to strengthen our global network of allies and partners. The most important lessons for military leaders for achieving these three military objectives are: how to adhere and adjust the right cause in the realm of Just War Theory before going to war; prepare for the full spectrum of 21st warfare from humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operation over counterinsurgency and hybrid warfare to high end war against a state on state adversary. This wicked problem, to prepare for every imaginable scenario with decreasing resources and overall strength, has to be solved by US armed forces, because the political leadership gave it this task. This paper will focus on the most likely future scenarios for US military missions in the near future and provide lessons and recommendations to be successful. Therefore, a short overview of the hierarchical structure of US security documents has to be addressed to understand the three military objectives in the context of political objectives. Afterward, three case studies will present the most important lessons for the most likely scenarios of the near future: First, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Someone may appear normal, but no one can read someone else s mind when it comes to mental health. In Edgar Allan Poe s short story The Tell Tale Heart, the narrator strives to support his lucidity after murdering the old man under his care. Although he repeatedly claims that he is logical and acts with sagacity, the narrator s noetic process and behaviors indicate he actually is insane. The narrator s lack of reason and auditory hallucinations provide proof of his dementia. To begin with, the narrator s lack of reason for his groundless actions provides evidence for his insanity, contradicting the belief that he is mentally stable. The narrator had no rational reason to murder the old man. For example, the narrator stated Object there was none. Passion there was none. I loved the old man. He had never wronged me. He had never given me insult (p 1). Therefore, the old man had never done anything to harm the narrator, nor had he ever wronged him in any way. The only reason the narrator killed the old man was because he was deranged in multiple ways; one of his significant reasons however, was because he felt the old man s eye was threatening. Moreover, he says Whenever it [the eye] fell upon me, my blood ran cold; and so by degrees very gradually I made up my mind to take the life of the old man, and thus rid myself of the ... Mwaniki, Email: mercimwaniki@yahoo.com Abstract Rainfall induced landslide hazards in Kenya represents a major challenge and remain an important issue in disaster management especially in Kenya s central province region where the effects are very common with the onset of El nin ̃o rains. The main aim of this study is to develop a rainfall induced landslide probability map for Kenya s central province. In order to achieve this, process based methods were used to map landslide areas using the following factors: slope, rainfall, land cover change,Normalized DifferenceVegetation Index (NDVI)change, Curvature, watershed, and soil characteristic including: type, texture, soil bulk density, Base Saturation, and Total Water Available Distribution Map. The minimum conditions were set for each factor for landslide occurrence. Slope stability mapping was done to determine the stable areas and thus derive the probability of landslide occurrence. Statistical methods were then employed by means of weights of evidence to achieve the probability weights for each factor considered to cause landslides. The factors were then overlaid using the probability ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I have not very much control over if the class gets full or is not a good time to take or even require some prerequisites. The two motivations that have been discussed in the book Drive by Daniel H. Pink, come from inside and outside. As I already know that some of our motivation is going based off of our instincts as humans and other parts of motivation come from a reward or a punishment, but there has been a third type discovered that has explained the reason for wanting to grow as a person and it is known as motivation 3.0. I agree that motivation 1.0 and 2.0 are useful to an extent because of my experience with both types working then at some point being limited or losing motivation confirms it. It was cloudy outside, and we had heard about the severe weather that might come on the news. We just shooed the precautions away and forgot about it. That is, until it started storming. Bad idea. I was at my before school program, JCPRD. I sat with Anna, my best friend, peering out of the large, blue tinted windows at the enraged clouds outside. They gushed rain and radiated lightning, illuminating our nervous faces. We were starting to get concerned. The distant, eerie roars of thunder filled our ears as the sheets of rain spilled from the roof and lashed the building. This seemed bad, but the situation only grew worse. My heart started to thud faster and louder as I walked to my classroom. The winds were whooshing louder and louder, and the thunder was growing more and more rapid. Good morning class, My teacher, Mr. Whalen, said as we all walked in. Today a severe weather threat has been issued, so be ready if we have to go to a tornado shelter room. For this paper, I will discuss a book that I read a long time ago, which is She s Come Undone by Wally Lamb and how this book relates to this course. In turn Harold opens up to her about his thoughts and feelings and the two of them become great friends. This film relates to She s Come Undone because just like Harold, Dolores battled her own issues and attempted suicide. Both of these characters meet people who help them understand that life is worth living no matter the struggles or hardships we face. With Harold, there was Maude and for Dolores, there was Dr. Shaw. Dr. Frost mentioned something in the notes that I believe helped both of these characters get through there hard times and that is: One of the most powerful and saving emotions is laughter. It helps keep us healthy both emotionally and physically. We can literally laugh our way out of illness! During the talks with Maude and the therapy sessions with Dr. Shaw, both Harold and Dolores were able to laugh through their troubles. In a novel called Poor People written by William T. Vollmann, the author travels around different countries and places to learn about poor people and to get a global perspective view. While interviewing different kinds of people, Vollmann would ask them one question: why are you poor? Looking at people s answers Vollmann noticed that some of the people gave quite interesting answers. Vollmann went through a lot of situations where he just couldn t imagine what life would be if he was ever to live like that. Another novel that has a similar poverty situation is called Let The Water Hold Me Down, written by Michael Spurgeon. Hank, the main character of the novel, experiences a tragic moment in his life. Losing his wife and daughter while drowning, this tragedy left him feeling like it s all due to his miscarrying about them. His life becomes full of sorrow, and the only way out it was to go to Mexico to his friend s place and restart his life over. In a new country of Mexico, this story takes place. Even though he had money, a house, and friends support, he still experienced lots of pressure trying to survive in Mexico. This one word organizes the entire poem by setting the direction, tone, and meaning of the poem. With its multiple meanings, the word marks plays a significant role. By analyzing the word marks in the context of the poem, I want to demonstrate the absolute necessity of that one word in this particular poem. The woman s life is graded with marks. A mark, meaning grade, is usually something that has nothing to do with a housewife or a mother. However, in this poem marks play a vital role in the speaker s identity. Her family gives her grades as a housewife and a mother. The word marks compares and contrasts her life with standards that are not her own. Grades are a part of the woman s life, for she is identified through them. Marks are the result of accomplishing a certain standard (e.g. 80% is a B, 90% and above is an A, etc). Students strive to get good grades because good grades equals good student. Grades identify who you are. It doesn t matter how much time and effort you have spent only the result counts. In this poem, the woman s entire life is defined and evaluated with grades: for her husband she is an A, an incomplete, and a B+; for her son she is average; for her daughter she is a Pass.
