The Iranian Hostage Crisis was an event that took place in the capital of Iran in November of
1979 that lasted a long four hundred and forty four days. What led up to the breaking point in the
Hostage crisis happened fast and was a result of a bad tie between the people and government of
Iran and the US involvement with Iran. During the crisis the US president Jimmy Carter had the
military attempt rescues of the hostages. The Iranian Hostage crisis did not only cause tensions to
flare between the US and Iran but also the crisis was a result of already weak ties between the two
countries leading to a negative relationship in the years that followed. The backstory of the ... Show

The leaders of both nations had a large impact on throughout the hostage crisis and even before
the crisis had started. For instance Iran s leader at the time. After the shah of Iran entered the US
for cancer treatment, Ayatollah Khomeini took over with his movement and had a very different
approach to the hostage crisis than the United States president Jimmy Carter did. Khomeini
wanted to show his strength the rest of the world while the US had nothing to prove but wanted
to rescue the hostages. Carter later attempted a rescue which later failed and accomplished
nothing for the US. On Iran s side Khomeini was in full support of the hostages being held in Iran
because he believed that it showed part of the Iranian revolution. Ayatollah Khomeini also
believed that was a put down to the American impact on Iran and their government. These two
goals between each leader show the different attitudes and approach from each side. On Iran s
side, they wanted to prove that they were a power in government and that they could cause big
events to happen in the world. For the United states it was different, the US did not have anything
to prove and just wanted the hostages to be free. The US did not want to cause a big scene either

Teen Suicide Prevention: Putting Meaning Back Into the Lives of Young
Statistics reveal that in the US approximately...nearly one million people attempt suicide each year (
Suicide Risk Among Abused Children. ). Suicideis not an act of randomness. It is a result of
prolonged feelings and/ or events, which push that person to extremes they desperately want out
of. Suicide rates are amongst the highest in teens, due to their lack of support systems. During
these years many are trying to find out who they are and fit in, thus many get accepted into some
people s views, but there are also a good number that get ignored and feel like they do not belong
anywhere. Teen suicide can be a result of a home life of abuse or mistreatment, psychological
disorders, and lack of social support bullying; however, through the education on the warning signs
of suicide, providing more emotional outlets at schools, and creating safer environments the
number of annual victims can be decreased. Living in a house full of mistreatment and abuse can
eat away at a teenager more than many would like to admit. Abuse (physical, sexual, psychological)
has no benefits, instead it causes individuals to see themselves as not enough and that they are not
wanted anywhere. Teenagers are already vulnerable to the pressures of high school, and trying to
find themselves. In school there are many stressors such as grades, friends, teachers,

Essay The Ethics of Sonography and Gendercide
The constantly growing field of medical technology has raised many questions especially pertaining
to ethics. The mapping of the human genome, cloning technologies, stem cell research, and of
course reproductive technology has caused some very real dilemmas over the role of the human
decision in the creation and orientation of new life. Humans are able to accomplish amazing things
in science, but at what cost? The ubiquitous nature of reproductive technology has caused a new
discipline of reproductive ethics. One such dilemma is that of selective abortiondue to sex
preference. In this paper I will discuss the ethics of gendercide and sonography s affect on this
practice
Sex selective abortion is the practice of terminating a pregnancy ... Show more content on

These technologies changed everything. Previously, parents would resort to infanticide to be sure
they could have a boy. Now parents who wanted a son, but balked at killing baby daughters were
able to choose abortion instead. Even today, there are no proven practices that allow gender
detection during the first trimester, and ultrasound is fairly unreliable until approximately the 20th
week of pregnancy. Consequently, sex selection often requires late term abortion of a fetus.
This practice not only affects the family but the society as a whole. It has caused an increase in
the imbalances between sex ratios. Boys are slightly more likely to die in infancy than girls. To
compensate, more boys are born than girls so there will be equal numbers of young men and
women at puberty. In all societies that record births, between 103 and 106 boys are normally
born for every 100 girls. The ratio has been so stable over generations that it appears to be the
usual order of things. That order has changed drastically in the last 25 years. According to research
the ratio today is 123 boys per 100 girls. These rates are not possible without human intervention.
There are many reasons as to why this practice has become so popular in many countries around
the world. It is said that by having a one child policy, China has increased the rate of abortion of
female fetuses. As most Chinese families are given incentives to have only one child, and would

Creating Life After Life Before Life Essay
Creating Life After Life
There are seven billion people on Planet earth, many of which are blurs of bodies and faces.
Each of those faces will inevitably pass away, however each time someone passes away, another
person is born. Today, there is a lack space to fit all of the humans currently living due to the
slightly larger rate at which people are born. Where will we all go when we pass? When discussing
what to do with the remains after a loved one has passed, there are very few options . One can
have a traditional burial and funeral ceremony, or there is the option to be cremated. There are a
multitude of problems surrounding the traditional burial; the idea that one human body owns a
certain amount of space for the rest of eternity, the steel, wood and cushion that we are lodging
into the earth. Each of these materials takes a substantial amount of time for the earth to even
begin decomposing. Most importantly, each material, including the body itself, release toxins
into the earth and atmosphere, affecting our environment today. Researchers have recently
discovered a more environmentally friendly way of burials. Should the world begin to transition
into a more green way of burial? We can begin to improve upon not only our purpose beyond life,
but we can also give back to our beautiful planet. There will never be a truly perfect way to
dispose of a corpse that will not affect the environment in a negative way but Green Burials are a
monumental leap towards that goal.

School Violence
Finding a Solution to School Violence
Anita Lopez
Kaplan University
CM 220
School is a place where children should go to learn, educate themselves, make lifelong friends and
most importantly they should feel safe. The violence in schools has increased over the years and
many schools aren t sure how to handle this growing problem in an appropriate manner. School
violence may come in various forms and some of the most common forms of school violence
include physical abuses, bullying, brawl and verbal abuses but the most common forms are physical
abuses and bullying. Schools administrators and teachers should deal with each situation
individually, they should give a good amount of time and effort into finding a suitable solution to a

Suspensions can lead to delinquency because some of the students may end up dropping out of
school. The risk of subsequent violence increases when violent students are transferred repeatedly
from one school to another (Finley, 2011). Students that drop out of school because of expulsion or
suspension are more likely to associate with deviant peers because they have more unstructured
time and this can become another problem.
Schools should take proactive approaches when dealing with school violence, but mediating in
conflicts and counselling indiscipline students are just reactive measures that may end up doing
very little to end school violence (Finley, 2011). The success or failure of counseling and
mediation also depends on the qualifications and training of the people in charge of such programs.
As the saying goes it takes a village to raise a child , it will be a great deed for all of society to help
with this ongoing problem of school violence. It is in a parent s best interest to play a big role in
their child s life. A child learns from examples and by watching as others do.
A collective effort that includes parents, teachers and school administrators and the entire
community is needed to effectively deal with the problem of school violence. School violence is to
a large extent influenced by parents, but most of the blame is normally put on

Aslan is the true king of Narnia, just like God is the true king on Earth; all of Narnia s occupants
have faith in him, and obey him. He generally comes to Narnia to aid its leaders and heroes on
important missions to thwart evil. He watches over Narnia constantly, although he does not solve
all of its problems for its residents. Aslan also periodically brings humans from Earth, both to
help Narnia, and to teach people an important lesson. As he appears in Narnia, Aslan is a large,
talking lion who is terrifying, magnificent and beautiful at the same time. He appears in different
sizes to different people, although he, himself never changes. As people grow in wisdom and
character, they can perceive more of his greatness. Aslan is very knowledgeable, and a powerful
force of good, but as Narnians often say, He s not a tame lion. He is dangerous and an

Army Organizational Life Cycle Model
Identify and Explain the Purpose and Actions of any Four Phases of the Army Organizational Life
Cycle Model The Army s Organizational Life Cycle Model contains eight phases (U.S. Army War
College, 2015 2016). This paper identifies and explains four of those phases, acquisition, training,
distribution, and deployment. The process the U.S. Army utilizes to fill the units they design with
personnel to fight and win the nation s wars, equipment to own the air and the night, money to put
fuel into the vehicles and bullets in the weapons, and facilities to house the soldiers and their
families in is the Acquisition process. The army cannot continue without new soldiers to fill its
ranks or weapons and bullets to destroy the enemy, this phase is the building block for the Army
Organizational Life Cycle Model and helps dictate training and the rest of the model forward.
Noncommissioned Offices conduct training, but without the training carried out at the entry level
schools for enlisted soldiers and officers certifying soldiers are trained in their programmed skills,
the army of today would not function (U.S. Army War College, 2015 2016). This initial training is
the training phase within the Army Organizational Life Cycle Model, and it feeds the distribution
phase. The distribution phase allocates the trained and skilled soldiers from their training phase to
their units where they are needed. This is similar to how WalmartВ® sends its customers the things

Nature s Truth in Wuthering Heights The metaphors drawn from nature in Wuthering Heights
drive the plot primarily through characterization. Rarely does the story venture outside,
containing almost exclusively scenes leading up to a character s departure and the response to his
/her journey. The absence of tangible nature in a book so driven by its symbolism seems peculiar
at first. Why does the author not provide the reader any detail of Heathcliff s struggle against the
storm after he departs in heartbreak? By narrating the storm in terms of how it is observed from
inside, the reader loses the expected description of the storm s intensity. Even Catherine s diary, the

Heathcliff personifies nature combating the human attempt to confine it in his stark contrast to the
civilized Lintons. Unlike any other character in the novel, Heathcliff remains authentic to nature
and does not try to fully domesticate its furious beauty. Where most people are more prone to
suppress their natural inclinations in favor of culture, Heathcliff is willing to defy societal
standards, even if the results are destructive. His revenge is not rooted in the evils of man, but
rather cataclysmic nature as driven by psychology. As Abraham Maslowargues in his A Theory of
Motivation, any danger to our basic needs or the defenses that protect them impose a
psychological threat, bringing about emergency reactions that could potentially be destructive.
Heathcliff s experiences align with the deprivation of these basic needs, and his revenge can
therefore be seen as an entirely natural inclination. The five basic needs in order of primacy are
physiological needs, safety needs, love/belonging needs, esteem needs, and self actualization
needs. The most pressing need will overtake and individual s consciousness and organize their
capacities. The less pressing needs are minimized, even forgotten or denied. However, when a need
is satisfied, the next higher need emerges (Maslow find citation). In order to most effectively
analyze Heathcliff s revenge, it is important to study this hierarchy of needs in ascending order in
relation to their

Edith Budge Influence
In addition, Budge also directly influenced at least two authors. The first of these authors was
Edith Nesbit. She was the British author who wrote The Story of the Amulet (1906), a children s
novel. In the novel, a group of kids get their hands on an Ancient Egyptian amulet near the British
Museum in London. Nesbit dedicated the novel to E. A. Wallis Budge after talking with him
about the book before she wrote it. The story was clearly influenced by the concept of Egyptian
magic, as well as curses, as the children are told the amulet will grant their heart s desire. The
amulet then sends them back in time, and allows them to understand the language of ancient Egypt.

Rider Haggard, also corresponded directly with Budge. Haggard wrote King Solomon s Mines
(1885), a novel that tells of a group of adventurers searching in an unknown part of Africa for one
of the member s missing brother. The novel could be seen as having colonialist themes, due to the
uncomfortable exchanges between white and black characters. Not only that, there are also
references to curses in this novel. Though the stories were different, Sands O Connor, a British
literary critic, talks about some of their shared similarities. Both authors had interests in Egypt, but
due to their lack of knowledge, consulted the British Museum before writing their novels. According
to Sands O Connor, Nesbit and Haggard valued and trusted the opinions of Keeper Budge enough to
submit various drafts of their manuscripts to him and to be humbled by his encouragement. Thus,
there was a direct correlation between fiction authors and archeologists at the time. With that in
mind, the documents written by Budge, and his more bigoted counterparts, become even more

The Mono-Genetic Model Of Obesity
Studies in animals have also suggested that obesity has a genetic component. Several mono
genetic and poli genetic models of obesity are based on animals. These models are used to
stimulate what happens when some chemicals are not produced (like leptin in the ob ob mouse),
or when some receptors (like leptin receptors) are reduced or malfunctioning. The set point theory
(Kennedy 1953: Nisbett, 1972) states that after dieting to reduce body weight, an animal eats more

percent of cats considered overweight or obese by their veterinarian, according to the American

Globalisation has created conditions, which contributes to the consumption of high energy
foods. In addition, the availability of cheap fast food from all around the world with the
advertising from multinationals such as McDonalds has resulted in pressures which have led to
a growth in the consumption of energy rich food among the poor. It is difficult to argue that
obesity is a social condition, which negatively affects those in low paid and short term jobs. It is
obvious to say, obesity does have a significant biomedical component. What happens inside the
body after you have eaten your Big Mac clearly requires psychological/biochemical explanation.
Thus, to conclude, there has been a combination of both social and biological factors which have
contributed to the growing cases of obesity which is putting a strain on our health budgets (ten
percent of the total NHS budget is allocated to obesity and related illnesses), creating many early
deaths, and even lowering peoples self esteems. By 2060, sixty percent of men, fifty percent of
women, and twenty five percent of children are likely to be obese. Obesity is a worldwide
epidemic which needs to be dealt with appropriately. There are many ways to tackle obesity. The
WHO s 1997 interim report argues that it is not enough to tackle obesity at individual level and
that a society wide public health approach needs to be employed. This includes better and much
improved medical profession, the government working with the food industry to promote a
healthier diet for everyone from childhood to adults, and also more information provided to the
public about illnesses such as obesity and ways of maintaining weight loss by promoting

Introduction Of The First World War
Introduction to the First World War
In the context of the First World War, we need to consider the question: Are we as a nation so
transfixed by the Gallipoli campaign that we have failed to look at what was happening elsewhere
during the First World War?
There is a strong case to be made that Gallipoli has over the past hundred years, overshadowed the
real stage on which the war was fought the Western Front. This does a great injustice to the many
thousands of Australians who fought and died there. It is time to set the record straight not to
diminish Gallipoli but to raise the Western Front campaign to the same degree of significance in the
Australian psyche and its historic records.
Many Australians today would point to the 1915 Gallipoli campaign as the single most defining
moment in Australia s history.
Before 1915 at the outbreak of the First World War Australia was widely considered as just a
colony of the British Empire. The heroism, courage and mateship portrayed by the ANZACS at
Gallipoli has since become a symbol of nationhood of Australia. From this time other countries
respected Australian soldiers as a force to be reckoned with / Politicians have frequently referred
to what it means to be Australian was written in blood at ANZAC Cove. Every year special

Interpreting The Song Halo
CHOICE
The hit song Halo was performed by BeyoncГ© Knowles. Ryan Tedder (lead vocalist of
OneRepublic), Evan Bogart and BeyoncГ© composed it. Halo will always be one of my
favorite BeyoncГ© songs because she sings it with such a powerful voice that fits with the song
and the lyrics, also not to mention the deep meaning behind the song. The great storyline and
bold lyrics was a huge factor in choosing to analyze this song. I like to listen to BeyoncГ© songs
and some of my favorites are: 7/11, If I were a Boy, Flawless, Loveon Top and Lemonade. In my
opinion, BeyoncГ© is and always will be a music legend. MEANING
Halo is a song about a woman who had been hurt by a past relationship and built walls around
herself so she would never experience heartbreak again. ( Remember those walls I built? Well,
baby they re tumbling down ) But then she meets a guy who she calls her angel or saving grace

The song starts off with a choir singing and violins playing softly. One of the key factors in the
mood of the song is the background music. Throughout the song the singers keep echoing halo
with the instruments also playing and BeyoncГ© always finds a way to match her voice to the
rhythm and tone of the music. This also creates a loud sound. I wouldn t consider Halo as a sad
song, more so moderate and full of compassion. The instruments used are: violin, cello, piano,
keyboard and bass drums. The instruments used give off a warm sentimental tender feeling when
combined with BeyoncГ© s voice and the background

In order to seek the amazing health benefits from veganism, one must be proper with their diets to
thrive. Firstly, many vegans are potentially at risk for vitamin B 12 deficiency due to the
absence of nutrients from the foods they choose not to eat. In order to avoid this deficiency,
vegans should regularly consume vitamin B 12 fortified foods, such as fortified soy and rice
beverages, breakfast cereals, and B 12 fortified nutritional yeast, or take a daily vitamin B 12
supplement. Secondly, by becoming a vegan, many lose a lot of the calcium that they usually
receive from a non vegan diet. In order to make up for this loss of calcium, one should eat green

soy milk. Thirdly, by becoming a vegan, one may lose a lot of nutrients from the fatty acid ALA.
In order to make up for this loss, one must eat foods such as ground flaxseed, walnuts, canola oil,

Happiness And Happiness Essay
In this essay, I will present to you how happiness conflicts with morality by going through a
specific scenario where the likes of two concepts are challenged. In addition, I will alternative
endings and translations to this scenario by using the perspectives of Aristotelian and Kantian
philosophies along with my own. Moreover, the scenario will challenge your perception of
happinessand morality. Morality in a superficial sense is a guide for your behavior and happiness
can be seen as satisfaction towards yourself or others. Of course, these interpretations aren t the
words of Aristotleor Kant but as you read the scenario it s important to keep those light definitions
in mind.
In this case scenario, I m in an elevator at a hotel because I m leaving a party and going home
because I felt tired. I m in this elevator alone and someone joins the elevator as I m going down to

shot in the ocean without his memory. He is saved by a couple of men and taken to a doctor on
land who helps him regain his strength and begin to remember his past. The man travels to Zurich
because of a negative found implanted in his body that leads to a bank. There, he is ambushed by

Vengeance In The Count Of Monte Cristo
Vengeance in The Count of Monte Cristo Edmond Dantes, the protagonist in The Count of
Monte Cristo, is a man on the verge of great happiness, but that is all dramatically and irreparably
ripped away. Edmond Dantes is a character who is in search of revenge for those who wronged
him. A character analysis of Dantes reveals that through his characteristics, vow of revenge, the
symbolism in the death of Fernand, and the symbolism in the eventual fall of Danglars, Edmond
Dantes portrays the archetype of a hero in search of revenge. The archetype of revenge centers
around vengeance being the main goal of the protagonist. Warren Poland describes vengeance as
the rage for retribution, festering till satisfied by destructive acts (Poland). This describes just
how destructive the search for vengeance can be. In most stories where the overarching theme
is about vengeance, the protagonist is sacrificing hope of a normal life for drowning his sorrow
in the blood of those who wronged him. The theme of vengeance can improve any story by
adding a feeling that the reader can connect with and understand. This feeling of pursuing an
ultimate goal at any cost is most present when the hero is turned into a villain that may use
twisted logic to justify harming, killing, or ruining the life of another, and yet the reader does
not see him as a villain. Most readers support the hero in search of vengeance because it is a
guilty pleasure that most are unwilling to give up, even if it breaks their moral code. The
archetype of vengeance begins with a vow of revenge made by Dantes. This vow is important as
it establishes the archetype of revenge; it was not supported by Abbe Faria, and represents the
things that Dantes lost, has, and is willing to give up. According to biblestudytools, A vow is a
solemn promise made to God to perform or to abstain from performing a certain thing , and this
correlates with the vow that Dantes makes, as his vow is a verbal manifestation of Dantes
commitment to revenge and helps establish the motif of vengeance at any cost (Smith). The vow
made by Dantes carried heavy meaning; he had formed a terrible resolution and taken a fearful oath
which meant that Dantes life was no longer his own, and his

First reason, you will have regret.
The text states, I think Peter should come to the island (Mikaelsen 206). This is after Cole
realized he had regrets for hurting Peter, which finally started to weigh him down in his healing
process. Compare Cole from the beginning of the book, and Cole now. Since he is starting to
realize his issues, he is growing more and more regret. This is going to halt the healing process.
Which is why you need to help someone, to vanquish the regrets. This proves without helping
someone else you will have regret, not allowing for you to heal. Because the regret Cole felt,

How Sports Can Help Someone Out Socially
1) Sports have played an important role in my life ever since I was very young. Because of sports,
I am very confident in myself. Although many people believe sports are just to have fun and stay
active, I believe that their influence leaves more behind. I believe that playing sports can help
someone out socially, physically, and mentally. Participating in sports has completely and utterly
transformed me into the person that I am today.
2) I believe playing sports can help many people throughout their long life and also through
many years of school. Trophies, gold medals, and awards are a few reasons why you might play
a sport, but there is something else that you can also gain in trying to achieve your goal. All the
work you put in for a particular sport can set you up for success and also can set you up for
failure, but it can also leave you with something that you will remember for the rest of your life.
3) An event that changed my way of life was the world swimming championship in 2011 in
Shanghai. I was 15 years old when I competed. Participation in this event gave me hope that I
could fulfill my dream, the dream of all athletes, to participate in the Olympic Games. After the
world swimming championship I was more dedicated to my swimming and my school. So far, my
life has gone the way I hoped it would and I have accomplished many of the goals that I have set
out to achieve.

An Unspoken Cycle That Determines The Success
When talking about inequality, it should be mentioned that there is an unspoken cycle that
determines the success of the average individual. The cycle goes as follows: education in most
cases directly affects the type of job you have. The type of job you have affects your wealth,
which in turn affects your ability to buy a house (mortgage or not) in a quality area. The quality of
the area, then affects the type of educationyou get. This is a cycle that while was once racist, now
unintentionally constrains people to the same socioeconomic class as the one they were born
into. It just so happens that due to the previous intentions, many African Americans are trapped in
a low socioeconomic class and are unable to advance. In fact, America today according to a few
large studies, is less mobile (moving up in socioeconomic class) than other comparable nations.
One study for example found that around 42% of American men who were brought up in the
bottom fifth of American incomes, stayed there throughout their lives. This same study found that
only around 8% of American men gained access to the top fifth from the bottom, a number lower
than others like the Danes or the British ( Harder for Americans to Rise From Lower Rungs ).
Unfortunately, minorities in America are at the largest disadvantage economically due to this
cycle. From the very beginning of this cycle, specifically African Americans were legally forced to
be separated from the rest of America because of the Jim

Down with the Death Penalty
Introduction
Life is a precious thing. This is something that the majority of people can agree on. It s for this
reason that taking someone s life is one of the most if not the most disgraceful of crimes. Murder is
a crime deserving of the harshest punishment available at the hands of the criminal justice
system. This brings us to one of the most debated upon issues of today. Is taking the life of one
who has taken the life of others an acceptable punishment? When making your decision think
about this question; Is the life of the murderer worth any less than the victim s life? Is the death
penalty in any form morally justifiable in today s society? The underlying question would be is
any kind of killing acceptable, regardless of what the motive behind it is. I personally don t believe
that it is an acceptable punishment no matter what the crime. I see it as becoming somewhat like
the monsters that we strive to put behind bars.
Thesis
In regards to the death penalty, it is my belief that life without parole is better for several reasons.
I m against the death penalty not for the benefit of the criminals but because it doesn t reduce crime
rates, it lengthens the agony experienced by the families of the victims, costs considerably more
than life in prison, and, most importantly, risks the deaths of many innocent people. The death
penalty ends up being a more tedious process than sentencing someone to life

The Nature Of Thomas And St. Thomas Aquinas
Thomas was conceived in 1224 or 1225 in the chГўteau that his respectable and affluent family

where his folks sent him for his underlying training. He later moved to Naples, the capital of the

Thomas was acquainted with and was educated without the impediments in compelling somewhere

Reason covers what we can know by understanding and rationale alone. From reason, we can

anybody by experience and rationale alone, aside from any unique divine revelation. Confidence
covers what we can know by God s extraordinary disclosure to us By confidence, we can realize
that God appeared on the scene through Jesus Christ and that God is triune. These certainties about
God can t be known by reason alone. Confidence expands on reason. Since confidence and reason
are both methods for touching base at the truth and since all certainties are symphonious with each

The Four Stages Of The Business Cycle
The four stages of the business cycle are complex phases that our economy undergoes. To grasp
the concept of the stages, you must first be familiarized with the business cycle itself. The business
cycle is the alternating periods of growth and decline. Or to be more intricate, The business cycle is
the periodic but irregular up and down movement in economic activity, measured by fluctuations in
real gross domestic product (GDP) and other macroeconomic variables, (Inc.com). A business cycle
is comprised of four stages: recovery, peak, recession, and trough.
In the recovery, the economy is growing. It is commonly indicated by a bull market. The
recovery is the increase in the rate of economic activity established by a moderate to low
unemployment percentage, towering development, and swelling prices. The next phase of the
business cycle is the peak. The peak is the most desired stage for it is the superior point of the
cycle. During this stage, the increased consumer confidence translates into higher levels of
business activity. The peak is, When the economy is overheated, and is in a state of irrational
exuberance, (Inc.com) In other words, the peak is the point at which the economy is as robust as
it can get. Following the peak in the business cycle is the recession. The recession is when the
economy is on the decline and jobs are being lost, unemployment rates soars, and production is
slowing. It identifies the end of a growth interval in the business cycle. Often,

Victorian values of duty/virtue (Summary and Analysis Act I: Part 1). Whenever they talk
about food, they refer to lust. They will never talk about it in polite society. Society never cares
about substance but instead reveres style and triviality (Summary and Analysis Act I: Part 1).
Wilde is saying Victorian s society they don t know the difference between trivial subjects and
affairs of life. Jack is only accepted in the upper class, because of the Cardew s fortune. He
knows all the rules, the manners of the upper class. Many people from this era love to use the

Sex Has Been A Physiological Study For Over Multiple...
The studies of sex have been a physiological study for over multiple centuries. Researchers such

Sex is far more than just the functions of each organ used in intercourse. In the book Bonk, Mary

understanding of research tools that were used in the past. After the experience, Mary claims the
atmosphere and emotionof sex resemble nothing of what actually goes on during the time the
couple is intimate alone and at home (Roach 128). The environment in which sex research is
being done can help determine the outcome of the results. For example, the romance and
adrenaline produced in the attic of Kinsey house can be different than romance and adrenaline
produced in a lab as well as in the couple s own house. Where the intimacy is taking place can
cause a lack of adrenaline as well as performance. Emotions and hormones produced during sex

Different Functions of External Quality Assurance
1.1. There are a number of different functions of external quality assurance in learning and
development. Vroeijenstijn (2007) highlights some of these with respect to education, a similar
concept. EQA has the role of trying to help organisations to enhance and improve quality, and on the
other end it is meant to provide information В¦ to key stakeholders. Protocols for external quality
assurance should be aimed at continuous quality improvement, rather than merely at accreditation.
As a result of this, external quality assurance is inherently beneficial to learningand development.
Organisations seeking to meet the needs of external quality assurance agents must continually
evaluate and adapt their processes to the current standards and legislative requirements.
While the assessment function of external quality assurance provides a significant amount of
motivation for organisations to engage in continuous learning and development, the goal setting
function provides direction and a framework for learning and development. Organisations that face
external quality assurance programs will naturally work towards meeting the standards that they
face. As a result, learning and development in the organisation is guided by the standards of
external quality assurance bodies and the best practices that they prescribe. By both setting the
standards and creating the motivation for organisational learning and development, the functions of
external quality assurance bodies play a

Overcoming Adversity In A Trip For Mrs. Taylor
Everyone has experienced adversity at one point in their life, whether it be a final exam or
staying strong while you re going through a rough time. As for many, they assume that running
from their problems is the easy way out when in fact running from your problems may seem
easy at the time, but is a race that can never be won. Instead, we need to face our problems
straight on, because the feeling of conquering a challenge gives us an unexplainable feeling of
success. Through the character Mrs. Taylor, Author Hugh Garner depicts how facing hardships

the story and a personal example it s evident that when an individual faces adversity, they strive
to overcome challenges which leads to the rush of success. In the short story, A Trip for Mrs.

Glass Menagerie Disadvantages
The Glass Menagerie Essays Prompt One The characters in The Glass Menagerie are theorized
to be based off of people in Tennessee Williams s life. The Wingfield family are supposedly
similar to Tennessee s own kin. With that, all of the characters in the play have their strong
points and weaknesses in their personalities. Tom, the son in the Wingfield family, works in a
warehouse. He dreams of adventure and longs for some sense of purpose beyond the town that
he lives in. Although he takes care of his family s financial stability, he clashes with them
constantly. Tom and his mother, Amanda, argue very often, for example when he gets irritated
by her interrupting his writing. Tom rants, Look, Mother I haven t got a thing, not a single thing
left in this house that I can call my own, (1.3). Tom lets all of his anger out at once, building it up
until the moment he snaps. Instead of settling his problems in his life at home assertively, he
claims to go to the movies, only coming back after hours of being away. However, this is
classified as a positive trait. It s better for him to calm down and settle the issues later on, when
he won t risk saying something impulsive or upsetting. When he gets home after his trips to the
movies one night, he speaks to his mother after she claims she will not speak to him again, I m
sorry, Mother. I m sorry for all those things I said. I didn t mean it. I apologize, (1.5). Another
positive trait about Tom is his gentleness towards Laura. When he converses with her, his guard
is let down and speaks to her kindly. Even though he tries to appear bleak on the outside, once he
opens up he shows his softer, more careful side. Amanda, the mother of Laura and Tom, can be
very absent minded and in her own world of expectations. She refers back to her time as a young
woman and focuses on getting a gentleman caller for Laura; she s even more interested in having
the gentleman caller for herself rather than Laura. Amanda struggles with giving her children what
they want, refusing to accept the fact that Tom wants to leave and adventure out into the world.
Because of this, she causes a lot of family conflict, stating later on in the play, My devotion has

Review Of Cinderella A Chinese Cinderella Story And...
One can argue that Cinderella stories have become an essential folktales not only to young people
but as well as to older people. These stories have been recognized worldwide. Even more so, they

about this is that different cultures have different interpretations of Cinderellastories and some do
not appear to be the same slightly. Moreover, this paper examines two different cultures, Yen Shen a

philosophies about these folktales by comparing and contrasting them. I will be exploring the
different versions of this story from different cultures including the American version. Cinderella

different perspective, such as a loved one going to a better place, instead of a loss can cause
relatives to celebrate. This is usually the case when the cause of death is natural. When death of a
spouse is because of a traumatic event, love ones are left with... Show more content on

Loneliness can be part of the grieving process in such cases where no one can empathize with
you. Loneliness can be prevented by having relatives or friends participate in daily activities
such as dinner, shopping, providing entertainment, and holding conversations. A lonely person
may choose not to eat, bathe and take care of their health because their self worth has
diminished. Correspondingly, a person may avoid going out and isolate themselves. Therefore, it
is so important to have someone to check on a grieving elderly person. Following the death of a
companion, the older adult may suddenly become unhealthy. Elderly widowed people experience
a profound degree of loneliness, which has been found to cause an increase in the level of
medical care, medications and mortality (Howie Mcintyre, 2002). The health of that adult was
most likely maintained by the relationship with the now deceased because they felt they had
something to live for. Also, the deceased person could have been providing financial stability to
help pay for medication and food. Now that those resources are taken away, the health of the older
adult may deteriorate increasing stress levels, which in return can present the onset of many health
issues. In addition, when the score (0 76) of ICG is high 6 months after spousal death, the

Retail Pharmacist Research Paper
Even though pharmacists have to go to school longer and their work schedule is unpredictable, a
career in pharmacy is a job worth pursuing because it pays well, and, as long as people are living,
they are going to need drugs. Medicine today is really popular and has immense power to heal
and make life better for millions of Americans. Medicines also can seriously harm people if not
taken correctly. This is where the role of the pharmacistis important. Pharmacists dispense
prescription medications to patients and offer expertise on how to properly take the prescriptions.
Pharmacists play an important role in the healthcare system through the information they provide
about the medicines given to patients.
Most pharmacists either work in retail or work in a hospital. Retail and work pharmacies do some
of the same tasks, but are they are ultimately different. Retail pharmacists still prepare the medicine
and dispense medications. They also tell the customers how to use medications and warn them
about possible drug interactions (LeClaire). Retail pharmacists work in grocery stores or at
pharmacies. The main difference between retail and hospital pharmacies is the interaction with
customers. Retail pharmacists have strong interactions with ... Show more content on

Presentation Of A Multi Billion Dollar Industry
Presentation publicizing is a multi billion dollar industry that has generally utilized a valuing plan
taking into account the quantity of impressions conveyed. The quantity of impressions of a
promotion is basically the quantity of downloads of that notice. One impression, nonetheless, does
not separate between a notice that is in perspective for five seconds or five minutes. Since
promoters look for brand acknowledgment and review, we ask whether a period based bookkeeping
of publicizing can better adjust to publicists objectives. This work plans to model the fundamental
relationship between promotion presentation timeand the likelihood that a viewer will recall an ad.
We explore this inquiry by means of two behavioral investigations, directed utilizing Amazon
Mechanical Turk, in which individuals saw Web pages joined by promotions. The measure of time
the advertisements were in perspective was either decided endogenously (as an element of perusing
velocity) or exogenously (as a component of a clock and irregular task). Our outcomes propose that
for presentation times of up to one moment, there is a solid, causal impact of introduction time on
promotion acknowledgment and review, with the peripheral impacts decreasing at spans past this
level. Straightforward models portraying memory reaction as a component of the logarithm of
introduction time give a solid match. Also, we find that notices that are shown when the Web page
burdens achieve more noteworthy negligible

Ockham s Razor
There are different ways we come to know the stuff in this world. We generally prefer theories that
are simple. The simpler the theory, the less entities involved; therefore, the fewer assumptions we
have to make. Quine supports the principle Ockham s Razor in acceptance of an ontology.
Ockham s Razor is a principle that is preferred when trying to determine our ontological beliefs.
The first step of Quine s method suggests that we use simple theories. As a naturalist, Quine also
only takes what scientific theories give him. This is slightly problematic because that means only
sciencecan determine what exists and seems to deny common sense.
Ontology is the study of what there is and is a theory about the types of entities there are ... Show

That is, he allows for science to be the determiner of what exists and what does not and so only
material stuff exists for him, as that is what science determines to be real. In other words, Quine
makes the goal of ontology, ultimately, taking the best and the simplest science theories and putting
them to use within his method . His method can be criticized because Quine, being a naturalist,
denies a priori knowledge by definition and therefore, rejecting anything abstract such as
mathematics. However, we do take that mathematics and other abstract theories to

Essay on journalism
When journalism is chosen as a career, society tends to have a stereotypical image of a group of
photographers chasing celebrities. If not, then an image of an anonymous person writing biased
comments about current affairs, trying to manipulate the truth. However, their real work earns
them every cent they deserve unlike the heartless lawyers who earns millions for defending
criminals. The work of journalism, on the hand, consists of interviewing and attending events in all
conditions in order to gather news and information for public interest. This is followed by further
research into the background information then assessing suitability of reports and articles for
public. The process is much more difficult than expected, especially with... Show more content on

Some other requirements may be learnt in further education after senior high school, such as
understanding laws of defamation, contempt and copyright.
To find a career in journalism, two options are provided but both require a pass in the year 12
HSC with preferably good results in English. The first option would be to study a degree at
university for three years followed by a one year graduate cadetship, which is on the job training by
professional journalists. The other alternative is undertaking a three year cadetship to gain
experience and training under supervision of senior journalists. Although this is more common than
study at university, there is a large competition for cadetships.
One of the reasons for competition of cadetships may be due to the income being the biggest
attraction of journalism. Although most enters the career due to passion or natural talents, there is
no doubt that the income would be an incentive. This is only reasonable as journalism can be seen
as a risky job, especially during the research of information. If there was any danger, income would
be the main compensation. As common sense, money is essential for survival and the average
income of journalism is adequate. According to the Bureau of Statistics a rational amount of
journalists may earn the same or more income than doctors and lawyers under different
circumstances. Even though the income for journalist is appealing,

Single Parent Black Families Analysis
This article discusses a common factor that is encountered when counseling single parent Black
families. That is the topic of a mother s unresolved issue with the absent father being projected on
the eldest son. Lowe stated that in single Black families, mothers unresolved feelings about an
absent father are usually placed on the eldest son who is expected to assume the role as a parental
child.
Lowe found that negative projections could possibly hide many unresolved emotional issues that
the mother has with the father. Therefore, this causes the relationship between the mother and son
to become impaired. This occurs because the son naturally develops and wants to differentiate
himself, which causes him to trigger unfinished business for

Tracy Latimer Utilitarianism
The case of Tracy Latimer was in fact a tragic story, about a 12 year old girl who was killed by
her father. Tracy Latimer lived in Saskatchewan, on a farm with her family. Tracy had cerebral
palsy which is an incurable disease; she was confined to a wheelchair for her entire life. Tracy
was not able to live the life of an ordinary person. What Tracy could do, was she enjoyed listening
to music and spending time with her family. Tracy was also taking other medication like pain
relievers and the treatment which resulted in toxic levels that disrupted her system; she would
throw up her food and was dehydrated (Bauslaugh, 2010) . Robert Latimer who was the father
killed Tracy Latimer on the month of October 24th, 1993. Robert Latimer was tried... Show more

Therefore I don t believe it was selfish for Robert Latimer to take the life of his daughter. When
someone is suffering in pain, and cannot enjoy life even though it may look like they are, it is
not ruthless to say that the person was happy with how things were. In this defense, I do not
agree with the verdict the Supreme Court gave. I say this because I know that in the eyes of
certain people, killing an innocent child is wrong. However, Tracy Latimer on a daily basis was
continuingly getting worse and nothing was helping her. The pain, the drugs, the grief, the
treatment; everything was going downhill for Tracy and Robert Latimer just wanted to make it all
better. I believe the sentence that should have been given was one to two years in jail, because
Robert Latimer did understand what he did was wrong and he never did say that he didn t feel

Guildsmen In The Canterbury Tales
Canterbury Tales Guildsmen From Chaucer s knowledge about the Guildsmen are that they are
worthy, Smart, and Wealthy but, he doesn t approve of the way the Guildsmen treat the people.
Based off the story the guildsmen were somewhere around there mid 40 s also they were still
members of the working people. Even though they worked a lot they still keep up with the latest
fashion with the others (pg. 154 they were so trim and fresh their gear would pass for new ). All
the Guildsmen were told to wear all the same piece of clothes and most expensive jewelry that
includes belts, Bags, etc. (pg. 154 which avouches a display on girdles and on pouches). Also the
Guildsmen sat on top of their horses different than everybody else, because of the entitlement of
being a part of a union making the guildsmen feel like they re better than others around them.
They sat with their back straight, eyes forward worrying about nobody but there self, making sure
that everybody seen the expensive clothes and jewelry they had on. Also they probably walked
different from everybody else they walked like they were just untouchable (pg.154 all in the livery
of one impressive guild fraternity ).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How A Usb Drive Can Be Used For More Than Just Storing Data
A USB Drive is known for carry data, be it music, photos, documents, videos, etc. But there s a
whole other side to these handy little gadgets. Take a look at these 10 ways that a USB drive can
be used for more than just storing data. 1. Run portable applications (just like your smart phone)
Portable apps are becoming more and more popular everyday and businesses are starting to see
the benefits of using them internally and externally to market their products. USB drives are
perfect devices for these applications. For instance, OpenOffice, which is a complete office
suite that contains a word processor, spreadsheet, presentation tool, drawing software and
database, is available as a portable app. Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird offer portable web
navigation as portable applications. If you take these tools, namely the ability to check your
email, surf the web and be able to use a full office suite, in combination with the mobility of a
USB drive, you ve given yourself the ability to redefine your office environment! If you need
more, you can choose a variety of other applications for use on a USB drive from
Portableapps.com. You can even download an entire package of applications that include some
cool tools like an audio player, games, antivirus utilities and a customizable menu system that is

Why is the role families play in the process of selecting and using an assistive technology so
important? Well for one, the parents or guardians, of a child with a disability that requires assistive
technology, knows their child like the back of their hand. They know what their child is capable of
using and what will be beneficial for their child to succeed. Assistive technology refers to the
devices and services that can be used to increase, maintain, or improve a student s capabilities. This
means that parents should have a good idea on whether or not a device is right for their child.
Usually when parents learn about assistive technology and the numerous opportunities it can
provide, they want to jump right in and

Regional Alignment Definition
Army Regional Alignment of Forces (RAF) Being at war for the last 14 years the Army now
finds it has the best trained and the most combat experienced force in its history. However, the
intense focus on a relatively small number of mission sets such as irregular warfare detracts
resources for the other missions required by Geographic Combatant Commander (GCC). To
address this shortfall, the Chief of Staff of the Army General Ray Odierno directed
implementation of the Regional Alignment of Forces (RAF) concept as means to address
Combatant Command s (CCMD) requirements. Regional alignment of Army units provides the
GCC assigned units for a dedicated period , capable of executing myriad of specified missions as
outlined in their Lines of Effort... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

back to the Theater Intelligence Brigade (TIB). The theater Geospatial Planning Cell (GPC) do
much of the same, now utilize the division and brigade Geospatial Analysts 12Y to update the
theater geospatial database. The LET relationship provides the ASCC additional manpower to work

Henry Hallaway World History II Mr. Oto 28 April 2017 Rough Draft The Iranian Hostage Crisis was an event that took place in the capital of Iran in November of 1979 that lasted a long four hundred and forty four days. What led up to the breaking point in the Hostage crisis happened fast and was a result of a bad tie between the people and government of Iran and the US involvement with Iran. During the crisis the US president Jimmy Carter had the military attempt rescues of the hostages. The Iranian Hostage crisis did not only cause tensions to flare between the US and Iran but also the crisis was a result of already weak ties between the two countries leading to a negative relationship in the years that followed. The backstory of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The leaders of both nations had a large impact on throughout the hostage crisis and even before the crisis had started. For instance Iran s leader at the time. After the shah of Iran entered the US for cancer treatment, Ayatollah Khomeini took over with his movement and had a very different approach to the hostage crisis than the United States president Jimmy Carter did. Khomeini wanted to show his strength the rest of the world while the US had nothing to prove but wanted to rescue the hostages. Carter later attempted a rescue which later failed and accomplished nothing for the US. On Iran s side Khomeini was in full support of the hostages being held in Iran because he believed that it showed part of the Iranian revolution. Ayatollah Khomeini also believed that was a put down to the American impact on Iran and their government. These two goals between each leader show the different attitudes and approach from each side. On Iran s side, they wanted to prove that they were a power in government and that they could cause big events to happen in the world. For the United states it was different, the US did not have anything to prove and just wanted the hostages to be free. The US did not want to cause a big scene either and it showed as ... • 3. Teen Suicide Thesis Kate Wells Kendra Gallos English 3 Honors 21 November 2017 Teen Suicide Prevention: Putting Meaning Back Into the Lives of Young Statistics reveal that in the US approximately...nearly one million people attempt suicide each year ( Suicide Risk Among Abused Children. ). Suicideis not an act of randomness. It is a result of prolonged feelings and/ or events, which push that person to extremes they desperately want out of. Suicide rates are amongst the highest in teens, due to their lack of support systems. During these years many are trying to find out who they are and fit in, thus many get accepted into some people s views, but there are also a good number that get ignored and feel like they do not belong anywhere. Teen suicide can be a result of a home life of abuse or mistreatment, psychological disorders, and lack of social support bullying; however, through the education on the warning signs of suicide, providing more emotional outlets at schools, and creating safer environments the number of annual victims can be decreased. Living in a house full of mistreatment and abuse can eat away at a teenager more than many would like to admit. Abuse (physical, sexual, psychological) has no benefits, instead it causes individuals to see themselves as not enough and that they are not wanted anywhere. Teenagers are already vulnerable to the pressures of high school, and trying to find themselves. In school there are many stressors such as grades, friends, teachers, ... • 4. Essay The Ethics of Sonography and Gendercide The constantly growing field of medical technology has raised many questions especially pertaining to ethics. The mapping of the human genome, cloning technologies, stem cell research, and of course reproductive technology has caused some very real dilemmas over the role of the human decision in the creation and orientation of new life. Humans are able to accomplish amazing things in science, but at what cost? The ubiquitous nature of reproductive technology has caused a new discipline of reproductive ethics. One such dilemma is that of selective abortiondue to sex preference. In this paper I will discuss the ethics of gendercide and sonography s affect on this practice Sex selective abortion is the practice of terminating a pregnancy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These technologies changed everything. Previously, parents would resort to infanticide to be sure they could have a boy. Now parents who wanted a son, but balked at killing baby daughters were able to choose abortion instead. Even today, there are no proven practices that allow gender detection during the first trimester, and ultrasound is fairly unreliable until approximately the 20th week of pregnancy. Consequently, sex selection often requires late term abortion of a fetus. This practice not only affects the family but the society as a whole. It has caused an increase in the imbalances between sex ratios. Boys are slightly more likely to die in infancy than girls. To compensate, more boys are born than girls so there will be equal numbers of young men and women at puberty. In all societies that record births, between 103 and 106 boys are normally born for every 100 girls. The ratio has been so stable over generations that it appears to be the usual order of things. That order has changed drastically in the last 25 years. According to research the ratio today is 123 boys per 100 girls. These rates are not possible without human intervention. There are many reasons as to why this practice has become so popular in many countries around the world. It is said that by having a one child policy, China has increased the rate of abortion of female fetuses. As most Chinese families are given incentives to have only one child, and would ... • 5. Creating Life After Life Before Life Essay Creating Life After Life There are seven billion people on Planet earth, many of which are blurs of bodies and faces. Each of those faces will inevitably pass away, however each time someone passes away, another person is born. Today, there is a lack space to fit all of the humans currently living due to the slightly larger rate at which people are born. Where will we all go when we pass? When discussing what to do with the remains after a loved one has passed, there are very few options . One can have a traditional burial and funeral ceremony, or there is the option to be cremated. There are a multitude of problems surrounding the traditional burial; the idea that one human body owns a certain amount of space for the rest of eternity, the steel, wood and cushion that we are lodging into the earth. Each of these materials takes a substantial amount of time for the earth to even begin decomposing. Most importantly, each material, including the body itself, release toxins into the earth and atmosphere, affecting our environment today. Researchers have recently discovered a more environmentally friendly way of burials. Should the world begin to transition into a more green way of burial? We can begin to improve upon not only our purpose beyond life, but we can also give back to our beautiful planet. There will never be a truly perfect way to dispose of a corpse that will not affect the environment in a negative way but Green Burials are a monumental leap towards that goal. The ... The risk of subsequent violence increases when violent students are transferred repeatedly from one school to another (Finley, 2011). Students that drop out of school because of expulsion or suspension are more likely to associate with deviant peers because they have more unstructured time and this can become another problem. Schools should take proactive approaches when dealing with school violence, but mediating in conflicts and counselling indiscipline students are just reactive measures that may end up doing very little to end school violence (Finley, 2011). The success or failure of counseling and mediation also depends on the qualifications and training of the people in charge of such programs. Army Organizational Life Cycle Model Identify and Explain the Purpose and Actions of any Four Phases of the Army Organizational Life Cycle Model The Army s Organizational Life Cycle Model contains eight phases (U.S. Army War College, 2015 2016). This paper identifies and explains four of those phases, acquisition, training, distribution, and deployment. The process the U.S. Army utilizes to fill the units they design with personnel to fight and win the nation s wars, equipment to own the air and the night, money to put fuel into the vehicles and bullets in the weapons, and facilities to house the soldiers and their families in is the Acquisition process. The army cannot continue without new soldiers to fill its ranks or weapons and bullets to destroy the enemy, this phase is the building block for the Army Organizational Life Cycle Model and helps dictate training and the rest of the model forward. Noncommissioned Offices conduct training, but without the training carried out at the entry level schools for enlisted soldiers and officers certifying soldiers are trained in their programmed skills, the army of today would not function (U.S. Army War College, 2015 2016). This initial training is the training phase within the Army Organizational Life Cycle Model, and it feeds the distribution phase. Rarely does the story venture outside, containing almost exclusively scenes leading up to a character s departure and the response to his /her journey. The absence of tangible nature in a book so driven by its symbolism seems peculiar at first. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Heathcliff personifies nature combating the human attempt to confine it in his stark contrast to the civilized Lintons. Unlike any other character in the novel, Heathcliff remains authentic to nature and does not try to fully domesticate its furious beauty. Where most people are more prone to suppress their natural inclinations in favor of culture, Heathcliff is willing to defy societal standards, even if the results are destructive. His revenge is not rooted in the evils of man, but rather cataclysmic nature as driven by psychology. As Abraham Maslowargues in his A Theory of Motivation, any danger to our basic needs or the defenses that protect them impose a psychological threat, bringing about emergency reactions that could potentially be destructive. Heathcliff s experiences align with the deprivation of these basic needs, and his revenge can therefore be seen as an entirely natural inclination. The five basic needs in order of primacy are physiological needs, safety needs, love/belonging needs, esteem needs, and self actualization needs. The most pressing need will overtake and individual s consciousness and organize their capacities. The less pressing needs are minimized, even forgotten or denied. She was the British author who wrote The Story of the Amulet (1906), a children s novel. In the novel, a group of kids get their hands on an Ancient Egyptian amulet near the British Museum in London. Nesbit dedicated the novel to E. A. Wallis Budge after talking with him about the book before she wrote it. The story was clearly influenced by the concept of Egyptian magic, as well as curses, as the children are told the amulet will grant their heart s desire. Though the stories were different, Sands O Connor, a British literary critic, talks about some of their shared similarities. Both authors had interests in Egypt, but due to their lack of knowledge, consulted the British Museum before writing their novels. According to Sands O Connor, Nesbit and Haggard valued and trusted the opinions of Keeper Budge enough to submit various drafts of their manuscripts to him and to be humbled by his encouragement. In addition, the availability of cheap fast food from all around the world with the advertising from multinationals such as McDonalds has resulted in pressures which have led to a growth in the consumption of energy rich food among the poor. It is difficult to argue that obesity is a social condition, which negatively affects those in low paid and short term jobs. It is obvious to say, obesity does have a significant biomedical component. What happens inside the body after you have eaten your Big Mac clearly requires psychological/biochemical explanation. Thus, to conclude, there has been a combination of both social and biological factors which have contributed to the growing cases of obesity which is putting a strain on our health budgets (ten percent of the total NHS budget is allocated to obesity and related illnesses), creating many early deaths, and even lowering peoples self esteems. Introduction Of The First World War Introduction to the First World War In the context of the First World War, we need to consider the question: Are we as a nation so transfixed by the Gallipoli campaign that we have failed to look at what was happening elsewhere during the First World War? There is a strong case to be made that Gallipoli has over the past hundred years, overshadowed the real stage on which the war was fought the Western Front. This does a great injustice to the many thousands of Australians who fought and died there. It is time to set the record straight not to diminish Gallipoli but to raise the Western Front campaign to the same degree of significance in the Australian psyche and its historic records. Many Australians today would point to the 1915 Gallipoli campaign as the single most defining moment in Australia s history. Before 1915 at the outbreak of the First World War Australia was widely considered as just a colony of the British Empire. This also creates a loud sound. I wouldn t consider Halo as a sad song, more so moderate and full of compassion. The instruments used are: violin, cello, piano, keyboard and bass drums. Morality in a superficial sense is a guide for your behavior and happiness can be seen as satisfaction towards yourself or others. • 20. Vengeance In The Count Of Monte Cristo Vengeance in The Count of Monte Cristo Edmond Dantes, the protagonist in The Count of Monte Cristo, is a man on the verge of great happiness, but that is all dramatically and irreparably ripped away. Edmond Dantes is a character who is in search of revenge for those who wronged him. A character analysis of Dantes reveals that through his characteristics, vow of revenge, the symbolism in the death of Fernand, and the symbolism in the eventual fall of Danglars, Edmond Dantes portrays the archetype of a hero in search of revenge. The archetype of revenge centers around vengeance being the main goal of the protagonist. Warren Poland describes vengeance as the rage for retribution, festering till satisfied by destructive acts (Poland). This describes just how destructive the search for vengeance can be. In most stories where the overarching theme is about vengeance, the protagonist is sacrificing hope of a normal life for drowning his sorrow in the blood of those who wronged him. The theme of vengeance can improve any story by adding a feeling that the reader can connect with and understand. This feeling of pursuing an ultimate goal at any cost is most present when the hero is turned into a villain that may use twisted logic to justify harming, killing, or ruining the life of another, and yet the reader does not see him as a villain. Most readers support the hero in search of vengeance because it is a guilty pleasure that most are unwilling to give up, even if it breaks their moral code. The archetype of vengeance begins with a vow of revenge made by Dantes. This vow is important as it establishes the archetype of revenge; it was not supported by Abbe Faria, and represents the things that Dantes lost, has, and is willing to give up. According to biblestudytools, A vow is a solemn promise made to God to perform or to abstain from performing a certain thing , and this correlates with the vow that Dantes makes, as his vow is a verbal manifestation of Dantes commitment to revenge and helps establish the motif of vengeance at any cost (Smith). The vow made by Dantes carried heavy meaning; he had formed a terrible resolution and taken a fearful oath which meant that Dantes life was no longer his own, and his ... Although many people believe sports are just to have fun and stay active, I believe that their influence leaves more behind. I believe that playing sports can help someone out socially, physically, and mentally. Participating in sports has completely and utterly transformed me into the person that I am today. 2) I believe playing sports can help many people throughout their long life and also through many years of school. Trophies, gold medals, and awards are a few reasons why you might play a sport, but there is something else that you can also gain in trying to achieve your goal. All the work you put in for a particular sport can set you up for success and also can set you up for failure, but it can also leave you with something that you will remember for the rest of your life. 3) An event that changed my way of life was the world swimming championship in 2011 in Shanghai. I was 15 years old when I competed. Participation in this event gave me hope that I could fulfill my dream, the dream of all athletes, to participate in the Olympic Games. After the world swimming championship I was more dedicated to my swimming and my school. • 24. An Unspoken Cycle That Determines The Success When talking about inequality, it should be mentioned that there is an unspoken cycle that determines the success of the average individual. The cycle goes as follows: education in most cases directly affects the type of job you have. The type of job you have affects your wealth, which in turn affects your ability to buy a house (mortgage or not) in a quality area. The quality of the area, then affects the type of educationyou get. This is a cycle that while was once racist, now unintentionally constrains people to the same socioeconomic class as the one they were born into. It just so happens that due to the previous intentions, many African Americans are trapped in a low socioeconomic class and are unable to advance. In fact, America today according to a few large studies, is less mobile (moving up in socioeconomic class) than other comparable nations. One study for example found that around 42% of American men who were brought up in the bottom fifth of American incomes, stayed there throughout their lives. This same study found that only around 8% of American men gained access to the top fifth from the bottom, a number lower than others like the Danes or the British ( Harder for Americans to Rise From Lower Rungs ). Unfortunately, minorities in America are at the largest disadvantage economically due to this cycle. From the very beginning of this cycle, specifically African Americans were legally forced to be separated from the rest of America because of the Jim ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is something that the majority of people can agree on. It s for this reason that taking someone s life is one of the most if not the most disgraceful of crimes. Murder is a crime deserving of the harshest punishment available at the hands of the criminal justice system. This brings us to one of the most debated upon issues of today. Is taking the life of one who has taken the life of others an acceptable punishment? When making your decision think about this question; Is the life of the murderer worth any less than the victim s life? Is the death penalty in any form morally justifiable in today s society? The underlying question would be is any kind of killing acceptable, regardless of what the motive behind it is. I personally don t believe that it is an acceptable punishment no matter what the crime. I see it as becoming somewhat like the monsters that we strive to put behind bars. Thesis In regards to the death penalty, it is my belief that life without parole is better for several reasons. I m against the death penalty not for the benefit of the criminals but because it doesn t reduce crime rates, it lengthens the agony experienced by the families of the victims, costs considerably more than life in prison, and, most importantly, risks the deaths of many innocent people. The death penalty ends up being a more tedious process than sentencing someone to life ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There, the youthful Thomas was acquainted with and was educated without the impediments in compelling somewhere else the thoughts of the Greek logician Aristotle, whose extraordinary esteem he instantly saw. St. Thomas Aquinaswas the best medieval logician. He attempted to demonstrate the amicability amongst confidence and reason, and amongst Christianity and logic. Reason covers what we can know by understanding and rationale alone. From reason, we can realize that there is a God and that there is just a single God; these facts about God are open to anybody by experience and rationale alone, aside from any unique divine revelation. Confidence covers what we can know by God s extraordinary disclosure to us By confidence, we can realize that God appeared on the scene through Jesus Christ and that God is triune. • 32. Different Functions of External Quality Assurance 1.1. There are a number of different functions of external quality assurance in learning and development. Vroeijenstijn (2007) highlights some of these with respect to education, a similar concept. EQA has the role of trying to help organisations to enhance and improve quality, and on the other end it is meant to provide information В¦ to key stakeholders. Protocols for external quality assurance should be aimed at continuous quality improvement, rather than merely at accreditation. As a result of this, external quality assurance is inherently beneficial to learningand development. Organisations seeking to meet the needs of external quality assurance agents must continually evaluate and adapt their processes to the current standards and legislative requirements. While the assessment function of external quality assurance provides a significant amount of motivation for organisations to engage in continuous learning and development, the goal setting function provides direction and a framework for learning and development. Organisations that face external quality assurance programs will naturally work towards meeting the standards that they face. As a result, learning and development in the organisation is guided by the standards of external quality assurance bodies and the best practices that they prescribe. Tom, the son in the Wingfield family, works in a warehouse. He dreams of adventure and longs for some sense of purpose beyond the town that he lives in. Although he takes care of his family s financial stability, he clashes with them constantly. Tom and his mother, Amanda, argue very often, for example when he gets irritated by her interrupting his writing. Tom rants, Look, Mother I haven t got a thing, not a single thing left in this house that I can call my own, (1.3). Tom lets all of his anger out at once, building it up until the moment he snaps. Instead of settling his problems in his life at home assertively, he claims to go to the movies, only coming back after hours of being away. However, this is classified as a positive trait. It s better for him to calm down and settle the issues later on, when he won t risk saying something impulsive or upsetting. When he gets home after his trips to the movies one night, he speaks to his mother after she claims she will not speak to him again, I m sorry, Mother. I m sorry for all those things I said. Amanda, the mother of Laura and Tom, can be very absent minded and in her own world of expectations. The simpler the theory, the less entities involved; therefore, the fewer assumptions we have to make. Quine supports the principle Ockham s Razor in acceptance of an ontology. Ockham s Razor is a principle that is preferred when trying to determine our ontological beliefs. The first step of Quine s method suggests that we use simple theories. The other alternative is undertaking a three year cadetship to gain experience and training under supervision of senior journalists. Although this is more common than study at university, there is a large competition for cadetships. One of the reasons for competition of cadetships may be due to the income being the biggest attraction of journalism.
