Post Secondary Education For The United States
Post secondary education in the United States is often viewed as a necessary step towards financial
security mostly for those who take part in it. The introduction of the GI Bill in the year 1944 labeled
the post secondary education as a larger part of the American dream because it acted as a ticket
towards economic security. Today, approximately 20 million students in the United States are in
pursuit of a bachelor s degree, masters, or any other type of higher level education such as
certifications and specialized courses (Friss, 2012). This elevated number of students interested in
becoming educated denotes that the cost of advanced education has and will simultaneously continue
to increase. Therefore, this fact has its pros and cons depending on the career of choice and especially
depending on how much one receives in return once entered the workforce. Students in America
pursue post secondary education for a diversity of motives. Most do it for economic stability and
consequently tend to develop a profession for the sake of earning an income as their primary goal.
Comfortable living accompanies such motive, action which leads individuals to wish to obtain a
substantial life where they may enjoy financial freedom. Some students look for a broad, liberal arts
education, while others become focused on a specific career. However, there are students who simply
enroll to take one or two classes for the joy of learning and/or keeping up with their skills. Great

Comparing The Media Techniques Used to Present the D Day Landings in the Longest Day and
Saving Private Ryan
The heroism and bravery of those who took part in the D Day has been brought to the big screen from
several perspectives. 1939 1945 were some of the most horrific times in the broad spectrum of human
conflict ever seen by mankind with unmatched weapons of devastation and the senseless slaughter of
millions of lives both on and off the fields of battle. The Longest Day (1962) is a brilliant rendition of
the famous D Day invasion of Normandy. The film is quite accurate, depicting the perspectives of all
sides of the war involved in the event. Multiple viewpoints give the film an objective feel, as ... Show

One scene in SPR reinforces how death takes its time. One soldier had his arm blown off, then stoops
down to pick it up. Spielberg has managed to give us a clearer indication of war merely by using the
latest technology available to him.
Camera techniques are imperative to each film. By using different techniques, the director can create
various moods, or change our perception on the whole film. We would expect the techniques in Saving
Private Ryan to be more sophisticated, as it is quite a modern film. The Longest Day is filmed and
edited in a way, which uses the panning shot so it is edited quite slowly. The camera is placed to show
as much action as possible. Zanuck has used the panning and aerial shots to illustrate a large scale
action, without much personal involvement. It is more respectful as it leaves out much dwelling on
physical violence of war where in contrast, Spielberg exposes war as it is in the sense that there is a
high level of violence and death. In the Longest Day, when the soldiers are running across the beach,
the camera moves along with them. The camera also flicks close up to the allies. The Americans are
portrayed as being faultless while the Germans are revealed as being

Zebrafish Synthesis
Abstract
Oxygen is essential for human life, but an excess of oxygen could easily become toxic and have an
adverse effects on the mammalian brain due to excessive formation of reactive oxygen species,
commonly known as ROS. In previous studies, changes in hippocampal DNA material have been
observed in validated animal models of PTSD (Chertkow Deutsher, Cohen, Klein, Ben Shachar,
2010). These changes in the genome may very well be the underlying cause of long term traumatic
memories. Previous studies conducted at Texas A M University Commerce used zebrafish as a model
for post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), however, the results not only proved that zebrafish show
symptoms of PTSD, but in fact we observed modification in the neural progenitor cells around the
hippocampal area of the zebrafish brain. High concentrations of ROS can be the reason behind the
modification of the neural cells. Therefore, the importance of this study is to investigate the molecular
pathways of ROS in the zebrafish brain. We hypothesize that using an antioxidant, N acetyl L cysteine
(NAC) could reduce the concentrations of trauma induced ROS, which would ultimately prevent the
modifications in the neural progenitor cells in zebrafish.

Bonnie And Clyde Essay Introduction
Bonnie and Clyde is a kind of a realistic, drama, comedy, tragic, gangster movie, which was produced
by Warner Bros and directed by Arthur Penn. This movie was released in 1967 and it was based on
real life events. Bonnie and Clyde were two criminals who were traveling around central United
States, robbing banks in the hope of becoming rich and famous. Before they began being partners in a
crime, Bonnie was a hot, blonde waitress who worked in a café and did not like her job because boys
who came to the café usually wanted to take advantage of her. On the other hand, Clyde was a young,
handsome, small town thief who was robbing small stores and gas stations for a living. They both
lived in hope to change their old, boring lives.

There is a close zoom in of a shot of Bonnie s mother watching Bonnie and smiling at her. Followed
by this scene, in the distance we see Bonnie s mother who watches her daughter and other members of
the gang. She doesn t say much. When Bonnie was interacting with the rest of her family, a close shot
of her mother s face and her silence shows that she does not approve what they do (Ebert, Roger).
Another interesting moment of the intriguing snapshot of the negative effect for the other members of
the gang is depicted through the young men rolling down a hill. Buck is shown playing with a small
kid on his lap and essentially rides him like a horse. As well, there was a distant shot of C.W. Moss on
the hill, overlooking everybody (Video

U.S Human Rights Intervention Essay
Should the U.S. intervene to prevent or end violations of human rights (including genocide) in foreign
countries when these violations do not directly affect other American interests?
The United States is a growing global power and presence. Most other countries are not. We are often
called upon to engage in conflict situations like preventing violations of human rights and genocide.
Intervening only where our national interest is concerned would only bring about negative reactions,
which could undermine our effectiveness and especially our international credibility. Therefore, the
U.S. should seek to intervene in and prevent violations of human rights not only where we have other
interests but in most other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
should intervene whether national interest are involved or not because this will continue to ensure that
the U.S. plays a major role in shaping other countries foreign policy and remaining a key player in
world politics. Editor and Author, Robert Kagan maintains in his book, American Power A guide for
the perplexed that American national interests need to be interpreted broadly to take into account the
country s position as world leader.
Intervening only where our interests are involved will make other countries suspicious in their
dealings with the U.S. in most other aspects. If countries realize that the U.S. intervenes only when
American national interest is involved, they might become hostile to U.S. advances because they
might think the U.S. wants to gain something from them. In short, other countries would regard us as a
selfish country, only concerned with human rights internally and concerned with where we can gain
externally. Acting only where our national interest are concerned may open up opportunities for
endless frivolous complaints to be lodged against the United States as a global power and presence.
Lastly, if U.S. intervention in the prevention of human rights is based solely on other American
interests, our world today will be a world of crisis , so to speak, because such crimes as genocide,
crimes against humanity, violations of human rights and humanitarian law would be much more
commonplace and no

The War On Drugs in the USA Essay
The War On Drugs in the USA One of the most explosive issues in the current American political
climate is illegal drug use. Drug abuse is intimately connected to problems like crime, economic
discrimination, and race relations, and is a topic of great controversy for many Americans. The
campaign to stamp out illegal drug use is called the war on drugs because it pinpoints the need to
crack down on drug dealers, arrest users, and generally pursue an enormously expensive law
enforcement agenda. The war on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Africa Americans comprise 12.2% of the population and 13% of drug users, but 38% of those arrested
for drug offenses, and 59% if those convicted are Africa Americans. The war on drugs is taking a toll
on low income, minority families, adding to the obstacles between them and economic success. A lot
of poor youths turn to illegal drug use and the illegal drug trade because they are looking for a better
life. If we use the money spent on fighting the illegal drug trade to educate these poor youths we
would give them a way to gain economic and social success. They would not have to enter the illegal
drug trade looking for a way out of the slums.
Drugs are an issue of government and political debate. Lower income families will deal drugs trying
to make a better life for themselves, but instead end up being addicted and committing crimes to feed
their habit. In the United States 9% of whites live in poverty, compared with the 31% of blacks living
in poverty. Because of this percent of blacks living in poverty there are more involved in illegal drug
use and sales. This makes the police more skeptical when they see a black person in a place they think
he shouldn t be.
The racial disproportionate nature of the war on drugs is not just horrible on the black Americans. It
contradicts faith in the principles of justice and equal protection. The

Enterobacter Cloacae Lab Report
Enterobacter cloacae is a common Gram negative bacterium. It belongs to the family
Enterobacteriaceae. Enterobacter cloacae is an opportunistic bacteria and has emerged as a nosocomial
pathogen within the last decade.1 E. cloacae is more prominant within intensive care units, especially
those patients who are on mechanical ventilation.1 Antibiotic resistance is one of the well known
features of this microorganism.1 A trail was conducted to determine how exactly Enterobacter cloacae
works in regards to its pathogenicity, but unfortunately only a few mechanisms are understood. The
few processes that are known include its ability to produce biofilms as well as secrete numerous
cytotoxins.1
According to a trial trying to determine bacterial resistance within the Enterobacteriaceae family E.
cloacae has been proven resistance to ampicillin, amoxicillin clavulanic acid, first generation
cephalosporins, cephalothin, cefoxitin, broad spectrum cephalosporins, as well as third generation

Pirates Go To School Analysis

Pirates Among Children Why would a pirate need to go to school? How would a pirate behave in a
school? In the books Uncle Pirate, by Douglas Rees, and Pirates Go To School, by Corinne Demas,
the reader is shown how different writers view these questions. Have these two writers expressed
similar or opposing views of one another? How does the age gap affect the writing? Why is the theme
so important? First off, what is a pirate? The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines it as Someone who
attacks and steals from a ship at sea. Why would an author use someone like this for a children s
book? That could be attributed to many things, specifically modern culture and the way it uses pirates.

mood of the book. this plays into the theme of the book which seems to be that, school can be a fun
place for even the most rowdy of children. The theme of school being a fun and amazing learning
experience is a shared theme between the two stories.
In the longer of the two stories, Uncle Pirate, the structure is very clearly set up for a more advanced
reader, specifically ten through twelve year olds. The structure of this book is set up like a normal
chapter book. The book has full paragraphs broken up by black and white illustrations done by Tony
Auth. The illustrations, though black and white, allow this book to be visualized better by youth who
haven t quite figured out how to visualize a story in there head. it is not an ideal book for age groups
higher than twelve at most.
The book shares similar qualities of humor and a lighthearted mood with the latter book. A big
difference would be the books ability to cover bigger real world issues in elementary school, as
mentioned by BCCB in a review on Douglas Rees s website. The excerpt from their review

Someone in America dies every twenty two minutes, because of an alcohol related accident. Most
people feel that they will never be part of this statistic, but experts on this subject say that everyone
has a forty percent chance of being in an accident with a drunk driver. Drunk driving is a serious
problem that the United States, as well as the world, is trying to deal with, because it does not only
effect a select few, it effects everyone. Drunk driving amongst high school students is an enormous
problem that the United States is trying to cope with. Many programs have come to surface over the

Even if the person appears to be fine and there is no one to drive their car, call a taxi. The amount of
money that it costs does not even compare to how priceless a life is. Many little things come into
affect when you are socially drinking and it is better to be safe then sorry. Children always are afraid
that their parents will be upset with them if they are intoxicated. One hundred percent of parents
would rather have their kids home alive and drunk, then get in a car with a drunk driver and run the
risk of death. Driving drunk impairs everyone and no one is immune to it. Driving an automobile
while under the influence of alcohol is one of the most dangerous things a person could do. This is
because they are not only dangering themselves, but the other drivers on the road. There is no safe
way to drink and drive. One drink may complicate a person s ability to drive a vehicle. It has been said
in some reports that drinking heavily can even impair a person s driving in the morning after they
wake up. These two organizations are leading the way in the harsh battle to stop people from drinking
and driving. The best way to stop this horrible epidemic is to make people aware and to educate them.
These two groups as well as many others are trying to do so. They promote parties on weekends for
kids to go to, just so they are not in danger of drunk drivers. Many schools around the country have

The Political and Social Changes in Western Europe Essay
Western European people had endured a series of changes during the late medieval period. Changes
can be categorized into two aspects: politically and socially. On politics, Popes were not as strong as
they were due to conflicts between the state and the church. Socially, people began to live a religion
dominated life, and experienced active sexism towards women. These changes, either positive or
negative, have become an undivided part of European History. People faced the rise and the fall of the
Catholic Church during the medieval time. The Popes used to hold the final authority for the church
and over the state. Pope Gregory VII asserted the Pope had granted the divine power from God

King Philip s advisers challenged the Pope by quoting the Roman Law, which stated that the King of
France was completely sovereign in his kingdom and responsible to God alone (McKay, 364). Not
long King Phillip arrested Pope Boniface VIII in Italy and had foreshadowed later conflicts between
the church and the state in the 14th century. The decline of church power became even more apparent
during the Babylonian Captivity (1309 1376). Pope Clement V s agreement on King Philip s request
of settlement in Avignon in southwestern France first signified the Pope s leadership and authority had
been weakened. Furthermore, after Gregory XI s death, Urban VI (1378 1389) had been planning on
church reform, but his endorsement of opposition among the hierarchy had triggered a serious of
disaster. As a result, Cardinal Robert of Geneva was elected to be Pope and took the name Clement
VII. The situation became two popes in office: Urban at Rome and the anti pope Clement VII at
Avignon, hence marked the beginning of the Great Schism. France immediately recognized the
antipope Clement while Aragon, Castile and Portugal follow suit. For England, they recognized Urban
VI and the

Description Of The Barn Cats Essay
Scenario:
It s autumn and, just like any other season, you re hard at work at your barn. Your barn cats are hard at
work, as well, hunting and munching on the overabundant rodent population nesting in your hay. In a
brief moment of rest, you remove your gloves, wincing as the cold air hits your dry, cracked skin. One
of the barn cats also joins you in your reprieve and you reach down to run your hands through her fur.
Briefly, you notice a bit of nasal discharge and some scabs on her paws and face, but you chalk it up to
the weather and get back to work.
A couple of days go by and you begin to notice pus like sores on your hands. They re inflamed and red
and suddenly you re reminded of the barn cat you pet a while back. Deciding to give her a more
thorough once over, you return to the barn on your precious day off to hunt her down. It s easy enough
to find her; she s resting atop a pile of blankets while the other cats are out and about hunting. She
appears thinner than you remember her being and she barely even registers your approach, but you
immediately notice rodent bites on her face and paws that appear infected.
Upon closer inspection, beneath her fur there are multiple crusted wounds, some circular bumps while
others appear to be swollen and flat. The skin is also broken in some places, equally as crusty and
flaking off in places. You know that these are ulcerated nodules and, regardless of an underlying
infection, they need to be treated before they get worse

Custom House In Scarlet Letter
Nathaniel Hawthorne s introduction to The Scarlet Letter , The Custom House introduces the reader to
the narrator who bears a likeness to Hawthorne himself. Similarities between the two include their
occupation in the custom house, being descendants of Puritans, having an interest in writing, and also
being native to Salem. The narrator in the introduction describes the custom house, his work there, the
employees, writing in general, but the most significant event in this introduction was his discovery of
an unusual package, the contents in it being the scarlet letter an A , and records that date back to the
seventeenth century in the Puritan community. After being dismissed from his job the narrator felt
compelled to write about this discovery.

fundamental idea in this philosophical movement. Also, Hawthorne sought to be a part or help create a
utopia (Brook Farm communal experiment) like the Puritans who had hoped to create their shining
city upon a hill ; ironic that Hawthorne has criticized the Puritans who ultimately had the same goal as
Hawthorne, to create a utopia. The placing of the prison door and the rose bush near one another
created a juxtaposition of themes of strict vs. wild and justice vs. mercy.

B) What is the likelihood the sample mean is greater than 320 minutes?
(320 330)/80/(sr of 40) = 10/12.65 = .79. .79 on the curve is .2852. Using the equation .5000 .2852
gives the probability of .2148 or approximately 21% likelihood that it will be greater than 320
minutes.

C) What is the likelihood the sample mean is between 320 and 350 minutes?
We must first find what the sample would be for the curve if it is greater than 350 minutes. We would
find this by (350 330)/80(sr of 40) = 20/12.65 = 1.58. 1.58 on the curve is .4429. We then use the
equation .4429 .2852 (.2852 found in part B) to find likelihood of it falling between 320 and 350
minutes being .1577 or approximately 16%
D) What is the likelihood the sample mean is greater than 350 minutes?
Using what we found in part C we can do .5000 .4429 = .0571 or approximately 6% likelihood that it
will be greater than 350 minutes.

The Pros And Cons Of GPS Tracking
GPS Tracking Stands on One Level with Data Privacy and Security: Fact or Myth
The term Global Positioning System conjures up images of GPS devices being used in space age
technology and vehicle navigation systems. GPS tracking devices have also become a part of our daily
lives today. However, many people are sceptical about the use of these handy devices. Many people
claim that they will face data privacy and security issues on using it. But, how much of this statement
is true? Do others have access to your information unless and until you share them? It is true that the
person having access to the GPS tracker will know the exact location of the concerned individual.
With the advancement of technology and GPS manufacturers striving to strengthen security aspects,
the chances of data being leaked have become negligible. Many families and business owners have
started to trust the system and are applying it in different ways. In fact, these applications have made
its way into animal tracking, farming and even gaming technology. Animal tracking helps in

Drummer Boy of Shiloh is a story about this young, fourteen year old boy who is participating in the
war as a drummer boy and is feeling doubts about the whole thing. In this story, the author, Ray
Bradbury uses symbolism throughout to create vivid imagery and deep thought into each page. First,
Joby is a symbol that is used in The Drummer Boy of Shiloh, a historical fiction. In lines 140 169, On
page 171 172, it states that, the General encourages Joby that he is the heart of the army and that if he
beats slowly, then the soldiers will lag around and sleep, but if he beats a steady, fast rhythm, then they
would march off ready for battle. This

Influenza Pandemic Stockpile Essay
A lot of critical factors drive an influenza pandemic stockpiling. The costs for having influenza
pandemic stockpile of drugs is relatively lesser when equated with the amount of chaos and disaster it
will be created to humankind worldwide.
Some of the major factors are:
The records and prediction of the world health organization for the number of people that would be
infected by the pandemic in the near future.
The quantity of the rapid response stockpile which will be required to limit and treat the first people
that will be affected
The strategy plans under which the stockpile will be used, for preventive or therapeutic use, long term
and short term before spread.
The economic impact that will occur, due to disruption of normal business. ... Show more content on

As the number of the cases increase, the just in time supply chains or the standard operating
procedures would be really difficult to meet the growing demand. Hence the healthcare systems have
been challenged to determine the medical supplies that need to be procured. One of the most
challenging jobs is to develop a prioritized list detailing all the supplies and essential quantities that
need to be stockpiled.
Benefits of influenza pandemic stockpile are:
Uncertainty of the demand since we are uncertain of its occurrence, stockpiling the vaccines and drugs
is very important
Considering the development and the availability of the vaccines. The time frame required is more.
Hence, with the stockpile, they are readily available when needed
Logistics play a major role.
Stockpile replenishment can be easily done.
The costs involved in the influenza pandemic stockpile is very high. Since these Tamiflu vaccines are
kept to face emergencies as a first line defense Fire Blanket , with the uncertain demand but dangerous

Different Types Of Macromolecules
There are macromolecules in all forms of life, whether it is in the food we eat or the beverages we
drink. These macromolecules are carbohydrates, lipids, proteins and nucleic acids. These four
different macromolecules are monomers and they link together in different sized chains, which form
polymers. Each of the four macromolecules is made up of different types of elements. The
macromolecule, Carbohydrates, contains carbon, oxygen and hydrogen, and is classified into one of
the three categories: monosaccharaides, disaccharides and polysaccharides. Proteins are made of
carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, and nitrogen and sometimes sulphur. Proteins are covalently bonded; these
bonds are called peptide bonds. Lipids are also made up of carbon, hydrogen ... Show more content on

Starch is made up of amylose and amylopectin, where amylopectin is completely insoluble and
amylose forms colloidal dispersions (University of California, 2015). The structure of amylose is
made up of long polymer chains of glucose (University of California, 2015). An alpha acetal linkage
connects these chains together (University of California, 2015). However, there is a very small
amylose chain in starch (University of California, 2015). Instead the monomer units of glucose in
starch are alpha D glucose, and the alpha acetal linkages connect carbon 1 from one glucose to the
carbon 4 of another (University of California, 2015). Furthermore, the formation of a dark blue colour
results from the amylose in the starch when mixed with iodine (University of California, 2015). Iodine
is not soluble in water; hence mixing together iodine and potassium iodide makes the reagent soluble
(University of California, 2015). The formation of iodine + potassium iodide results in a soluble,
linear triiodide ion that is able to go through the coils of starch (University of California, 2015). This
results in iodine being able to detect the presence of

Functionalist Perspective On Divorce
Divorce is such a personal and common thing in America. There are so many couples who go through
the act of divorce every day. According to Kanewicher and Harris (2014), forty to fifty percent of
couples will end in divorce within the first few years of marriage. Divorce is the legal dissolution of a
marriage by a court or other competent body. There are many factors that may lead couples into
divorce. Some of those factors are, marrying too young, low education levels and overall just lack of
preparation (Kanewischer, 2015). Although divorce is common now, it was not like this back in the
late 1900 s. Divorce was not allowed and most of the time people did not want to get divorce because
of all the time and effort they put into their marriage. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In general, children from divorced families did have more behavioral problems than children from non
divorced families. They continue to struggle with the behaviors well into their adolescence stage and
into their adult stage (Weaver, 2015). It makes maintaining relationships and trusting others difficult.
There are three different theoretical perspectives. Functionalist perspective, which emphasizes the way
in which the parts of a society are structured to maintain its stability. Functionalists see the
contribution that it makes to society. The conflict perspective, assumes that social behavior is best
understood in terms of tension between groups over power or the allocation of resources, and political
representation. The interactionalist perspective, which generalize about everyday forms of social
interaction in order to explain society as a whole (Schaefer). In the topic of divorce, it seems as if the
functionalist perspective explains it well. Most of the people get a divorce because they are unhappy
within the marriage. If the couple continued to be married it could cause more problems such as
affairs, theft, depression, etc., therefore ruining the society s stability. Both individuals would be
happier and there would be fewer dysfunctional families. Through the functionalist perspective, the
idea of divorce is

Blue Crab Essay
Sometimes you may wonder just how much impact one little creature can have on an environment?
Well a great example is the blue crab. This one crab is the keystone of the food web, and it s both prey
and predator. If the blue crabs were to die off, things they eat like marsh periwinkles, smaller
crustaceans, and thin shelled bivalves would become overpopulated. Especially marsh periwinkles
which are kept under control by the blue crabs. Not only would the harm of blue crabs affect prey, but
it would also affect predators. If the blue crab population were to drop even more, the animals that rely
on the crab as their main food source would suffer. A lot of predators feed on blue crabs. For example
birds, fish, some sharks, and even other blue crabs. But the main predator of the blue ... Show more

Due to warming waters, pollution, and irregular weather patterns, the crabs are dying. But that isn t the
only reason. The crabs are also dying because of something called recruitment overfishing. That s
when lots of adult crabs are caught before they have time to reproduce, which leaves a smaller
population made up of mostly young offspring. In 2015 37.3 million pounds of blue crabs were caught
just in the chesapeake bay and its tributaries! Though there s a lot you can do to help. Normal people
can change the bay by keeping a few simple things in mind. One as simple as follow speed signs when
boating. If u boat too fast over patches of the underwater blue crab grass you could damage it and the
crabs. Also, think extra hard about not polluting. If you live in any of the watershed states, any litter or
pollution will eventually end up in the bay or one of its tributaries. So next time you see a plastic
bottle or bag laying by a creek or go boating think about how it affects the crabs. With just a little time
and effort we can help the blue crabs and all species apart of their food web, including you and

Example Of Sphero Project
Sphero project My class did a big project that included partnership, working together, and constructing
an idea. What we had to do for this project was use rubber bands and put them on the Sphero in any
way to make it go faster in water. But this was also a really fun project to do. What we had to do was
get the Sphero across the water first to win the race. How did my group put our rubber bands on?
Good question. Well we basically put rubber bands covering the whole sphero. Except we left a few
openings. We used about 25 rubber bands. What we were originally going to do was put 25 rubber
bands in an x. Then it went slower than it actually does without rubber bands. So we tried plan B. But
that didn t end up working. So we tried plan

An Project On The Development Of It System Applications Or...
For any company involved in the development of IT system applications or any other software, having
a team of people who knows what they are doing, will determine if the application will be useful or a
total failure. Since money cannot be wasted and it is sometimes shorted by the client, having the
experience and the right leaders to keep this project organized and on schedule, will help the
development team members finish this project on time and on budget. However, in order to stay on
track of the requirements set by the client, communicating with the client on a regular basis either by
phone or by virtual meetings, the results of the project will most likely be a success.
To me, the purpose of these meetings are to keep the client involved in the project as much as possible
so that all the discussed requirements are well understood and if any changes are made by the client,
then new changes can be made right there on the spot avoiding future delays. I think that the main
goal here is to keep the client satisfied with the results as much as possible. When I say results I mean,
making sure that what the client wants and do not want on the system application is included to the
last detail.
During the life cycle of the project, there are going to be many decisions to be made, and keeping in
touch with the client as much as possible, the decisions might change the results of the project in terms
of delays or higher costs. For example, the development team might set an

A Report On My Mortar Platoon
It was a rainy morning in mid October. My mortar platoon was able to do a week s worth of
dismounted patrols tasked with clearing compounds of interest of IED factories, weapons caches, and
drug stockpiles (mainly marijuana). The patrol from the previous day ended with an hour s worth of
small arms and several IEDs. I knew that today would most likely be the same. At around 0600 we
mounted in our MRAPs and Strykers and also picked up the Sappers and EOD. Before leaving FOB
Zangabad we linked up with the ANA that we were doing a joint patrol with and then left our start
point. We drove north on RTE Quebec and made a right onto RTE Hyena near checkpoint 17, which
was an ANA checkpoint. My convoy continued down the road for another 500 meters ... Show more

The rain started to come down extremely heavy so we strong pointed inside a building for roughly 30
minutes. As soon as we began to step off again one of the ANA shot into the sky right next to us. We
yelled at him and got him to stop but he would not tell us why he did it. The other ANA began joking
and just saying he was an idiot and we started moving again. I remember jumping a small stream and
one of the sappers fell onto his back and was rolling side to side saying I can t get up ugh . All the
ANA were pointing and laughing and so were we. We were all having a pretty good time up until now,
joking around and what not. Continuing on we are about to leave the compound to walk alongside a
mud wall that ran north and south. We turn south and start walking down and an ANA soldier looks at
me and says RPG good and shoots a random building with his RPG. Baffled we all just keep moving
forward and then one explosion goes off. A few seconds after another. I look out just in front of me
and see a potpourri of dirt, rocks, and body parts with some hitting me in the face. Machine gun fire
starts to our 11 o clock position and more to our 2 o clock. It s about 100 200 meters away. We use the
mud wall as quick cover and start returning fire. We start taking more fire from our 1230 position and
I head 4 enemy 100 meters. I started laying down whatever fire I could but ultimately I couldn t see
anyone. Every time I popped my head up a whiz went right by my head. At this point

Threat of New Entrants: LOW
Like any automobile company, Harley Davidson industry also has large manufacturing facilities and
equipments. New Entrants would have to have a large amount of capital and would need to spend tons
of money in advertising and promotion to receive the same amount of brand recognition and customer
loyalty that the powerhouses company Harley Davidson has already gained. And retailers, without the
brand recognition and customer loyalty of the new entrants, would be afraid to carry such products.
Threat of Substitutes: LOW
Motorcycles don t take much of one s income; customers often switch to the substitutes if price
increases and purchasing a cheaper substitute becomes their better choice. But, the facts that Harley
Davidson has a strong image of a lifestyle, the substitute products are no match to Harley Davidson
products. This will sway customers from buying substitutes because it is just not the

White Women In American Consumer Culture
From the 1890s to the 1920s women from all walks of life became participants in American consumer
culture. Whether this translated into the consumption of movies, clothing, beauty products or
household goods, women influenced and participated in the development of consumer culture in
America. Three distinct groups of women stand out in the development of consumer culture, these
include middle class white women, immigrant women and the daughters of such and black women.
These three groups of women partook in the unique experience of what it meant to be participants in
American consumer culture and at the same time were susceptible to the issues of gender inequality,
objectification and racial discrimination. Before discussing the development ... Show more content on

Bernarr Macfadden s book titled The Power and Beauty of Superb Womanhood published in 1901
emphasized that if women partook in vigorous exercise, they could develop strength almost equal to a
man. The New Woman took this attitude to heart by engaging in cycling, playing tennis and
swimming; activities they did not partake in before. The Power and Beauty of Superb Womanhood
delineates a shift in American culture at the turn of the century; the creation of the New Woman and
her participation in the public sphere. Lois Rudnick, author of the book titled The New Woman states
that Between 1890 and 1920 women writers and reformers made major contributions to literature and
the arts, as well as to social and political reforms. From the Victorian age culture of the 1890s, to
1920, the year women were granted suffrage with the nineteenth amendment; the New Woman
emerged in literature, the arts and reform movements. The New Woman was a consumer who was not
guilty of partaking in leisure, self indulgence and sensual pleasure. The white middle class woman
was no longer restricted by the ideals of the Victorian woman, but rather now enjoyed freedoms she
did not have before. In the 1920s a radical woman had emerged in the form of the flappers who wore
her hair bobbed, heavy makeup, short dresses and danced jazz. The flapper was a woman of the 1920s

What Are The Characters In The Novel Paperboy
1, The first paragraph of the novel Paperboy talks mainly about the characters. The story talks about
the stabbing so the character may have experienced some horrible things. Then it goes on by stating
why the main character (Victor) has a disability to have a talk fluently. And lastly, it said that character
named Mam has lain too by the main character and that might mean they don t have a good
relationship with the main character.
2. If a character in the story was represented by an animal I would classify Victor as a snake and Ara T
as a rat. Victor is a snake because people actually call him a snake. They call him that since he hisses
whenever he s stuck on a word so he could sneak up on it. Ara T is a rat because he collects trash, has
dirty baggy clothes, and goes around the streets. This portrays a rat because they re dirty and roam the
streets.
3. There are many patterns in the book. One of the patterns I spotted was that he goes to knock on the
door to collected weekly fees and at first he is always scared. But every time he talks to a neighbor
they all give him warm welcomes and shows that they can understand and care for him. Another
pattern I spotted was always he messes up in every house. He messed by saying a bad word to the
neighbor, messes up by leaving a question and standing there for a minute, and he messed up by lying
to Mrs.Rat.
4. An artifact that would help you understand the character IS this book because it s his diary/memoir.
There is a lot

The Success Of Warner Bros s Harley Quinn
Because Harley Quinn is a DC Comics property, and therefore owned by Warner Bros. Studios, we
expect all funding to come from Warner Bros and DC Entertainment studios. Will believe that this
project is something that they will be interested in funding based on their past financing of DC Comic
films as well as the recent success of such films in the past 10 years. While some DC films have not
performed as well as others, Warner Bros. Studios has seemed to find a formula for such films that
have proven to be successful among audiences. In a recent revamping of DC films, Warner Bros. has
chosen to present these stories in much dark way than has ever been done before. This strategy proved
to be extremely successful with the hit Dark Knight trilogy.

The Tragedy Of The Iranian Hostage Crisis
There was once time of prosperity and hope in this great nation. A time where it seemed that nothing
could go wrong and a time that America seemed to be on top of the world as a powerhouse; however,
by the late 1970 s, that time was no more. America went from an economic powerhouse to a country
struggling to survive. America went from the land of the free and the home of the brave to citizens
having no identity of patriotism following the Vietnam War. America went from doing the attacking
and righting the wrong in the world, to being harassed and taken advantage of. This harassment is told
through David Farber s novel, Taken Hostage, which details the hostage takeover that involved sixty
six American citizens who had to endure 444 agonizing days of being taken hostage because America
was no longer in control. During the time of the Iranian hostage crisis, Americans were held back by
the tragedy for numerous reasons, many of which stem from the immediate reaction of combined
shock and frustration towards the United States Government and President Carter, a lack of
knowledge of the ongoing strained relationship between the two countries, and finally, the surprising
tension and ineffectiveness of the Carter Administration s foreign policy.
In the months leading up to the hostage crisis, the morale and patriotism expressed by the American
people was gloom and not promising for the nation; Especially in the last years of the decade, it was
mainly just hard times (Farber, 10).

  • 2. Post Secondary Education For The United States Post secondary education in the United States is often viewed as a necessary step towards financial security mostly for those who take part in it. The introduction of the GI Bill in the year 1944 labeled the post secondary education as a larger part of the American dream because it acted as a ticket towards economic security. Today, approximately 20 million students in the United States are in pursuit of a bachelor s degree, masters, or any other type of higher level education such as certifications and specialized courses (Friss, 2012). This elevated number of students interested in becoming educated denotes that the cost of advanced education has and will simultaneously continue to increase. Therefore, this fact has its pros and cons depending on the career of choice and especially depending on how much one receives in return once entered the workforce. Students in America pursue post secondary education for a diversity of motives. Most do it for economic stability and consequently tend to develop a profession for the sake of earning an income as their primary goal. Comfortable living accompanies such motive, action which leads individuals to wish to obtain a substantial life where they may enjoy financial freedom. Some students look for a broad, liberal arts education, while others become focused on a specific career. However, there are students who simply enroll to take one or two classes for the joy of learning and/or keeping up with their skills. Great ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Comparing The Media Techniques Used to Present the D Day Landings in the Longest Day and Saving Private Ryan The heroism and bravery of those who took part in the D Day has been brought to the big screen from several perspectives. 1939 1945 were some of the most horrific times in the broad spectrum of human conflict ever seen by mankind with unmatched weapons of devastation and the senseless slaughter of millions of lives both on and off the fields of battle. The Longest Day (1962) is a brilliant rendition of the famous D Day invasion of Normandy. The film is quite accurate, depicting the perspectives of all sides of the war involved in the event. One soldier had his arm blown off, then stoops down to pick it up. Spielberg has managed to give us a clearer indication of war merely by using the latest technology available to him. Camera techniques are imperative to each film. By using different techniques, the director can create various moods, or change our perception on the whole film. We would expect the techniques in Saving Private Ryan to be more sophisticated, as it is quite a modern film. The Longest Day is filmed and edited in a way, which uses the panning shot so it is edited quite slowly. The camera is placed to show as much action as possible. Zanuck has used the panning and aerial shots to illustrate a large scale action, without much personal involvement. It is more respectful as it leaves out much dwelling on physical violence of war where in contrast, Spielberg exposes war as it is in the sense that there is a high level of violence and death. In the Longest Day, when the soldiers are running across the beach, the camera moves along with them. The camera also flicks close up to the allies. The Americans are portrayed as being faultless while the Germans are revealed as being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Zebrafish Synthesis Abstract Oxygen is essential for human life, but an excess of oxygen could easily become toxic and have an adverse effects on the mammalian brain due to excessive formation of reactive oxygen species, commonly known as ROS. In previous studies, changes in hippocampal DNA material have been observed in validated animal models of PTSD (Chertkow Deutsher, Cohen, Klein, Ben Shachar, 2010). These changes in the genome may very well be the underlying cause of long term traumatic memories. Previous studies conducted at Texas A M University Commerce used zebrafish as a model for post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), however, the results not only proved that zebrafish show symptoms of PTSD, but in fact we observed modification in the neural progenitor cells around the hippocampal area of the zebrafish brain. High concentrations of ROS can be the reason behind the modification of the neural cells. Therefore, the importance of this study is to investigate the molecular pathways of ROS in the zebrafish brain. We hypothesize that using an antioxidant, N acetyl L cysteine (NAC) could reduce the concentrations of trauma induced ROS, which would ultimately prevent the modifications in the neural progenitor cells in zebrafish. This movie was released in 1967 and it was based on real life events. Bonnie and Clyde were two criminals who were traveling around central United States, robbing banks in the hope of becoming rich and famous. Before they began being partners in a crime, Bonnie was a hot, blonde waitress who worked in a café and did not like her job because boys who came to the café usually wanted to take advantage of her. U.S Human Rights Intervention Essay Should the U.S. intervene to prevent or end violations of human rights (including genocide) in foreign countries when these violations do not directly affect other American interests? The United States is a growing global power and presence. Most other countries are not. We are often called upon to engage in conflict situations like preventing violations of human rights and genocide. Intervening only where our national interest is concerned would only bring about negative reactions, which could undermine our effectiveness and especially our international credibility. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... should intervene whether national interest are involved or not because this will continue to ensure that the U.S. plays a major role in shaping other countries foreign policy and remaining a key player in world politics. Editor and Author, Robert Kagan maintains in his book, American Power A guide for the perplexed that American national interests need to be interpreted broadly to take into account the country s position as world leader. Intervening only where our interests are involved will make other countries suspicious in their dealings with the U.S. in most other aspects. If countries realize that the U.S. intervenes only when American national interest is involved, they might become hostile to U.S. advances because they might think the U.S. wants to gain something from them. In short, other countries would regard us as a selfish country, only concerned with human rights internally and concerned with where we can gain externally. Acting only where our national interest are concerned may open up opportunities for endless frivolous complaints to be lodged against the United States as a global power and presence. Lastly, if U.S. intervention in the prevention of human rights is based solely on other American interests, our world today will be a world of crisis , so to speak, because such crimes as genocide, crimes against humanity, violations of human rights and humanitarian law would be much more commonplace and no ... Drug abuse is intimately connected to problems like crime, economic discrimination, and race relations, and is a topic of great controversy for many Americans. Africa Americans comprise 12.2% of the population and 13% of drug users, but 38% of those arrested for drug offenses, and 59% if those convicted are Africa Americans. The war on drugs is taking a toll on low income, minority families, adding to the obstacles between them and economic success. A lot of poor youths turn to illegal drug use and the illegal drug trade because they are looking for a better life. If we use the money spent on fighting the illegal drug trade to educate these poor youths we would give them a way to gain economic and social success. They would not have to enter the illegal drug trade looking for a way out of the slums. Drugs are an issue of government and political debate. Lower income families will deal drugs trying to make a better life for themselves, but instead end up being addicted and committing crimes to feed their habit. In the United States 9% of whites live in poverty, compared with the 31% of blacks living in poverty. Because of this percent of blacks living in poverty there are more involved in illegal drug use and sales. This makes the police more skeptical when they see a black person in a place they think he shouldn t be. The racial disproportionate nature of the war on drugs is not just horrible on the black Americans. It contradicts faith in the principles of justice and equal protection. The ... The decline of church power became even more apparent during the Babylonian Captivity (1309 1376). Pope Clement V s agreement on King Philip s request of settlement in Avignon in southwestern France first signified the Pope s leadership and authority had been weakened. Furthermore, after Gregory XI s death, Urban VI (1378 1389) had been planning on church reform, but his endorsement of opposition among the hierarchy had triggered a serious of disaster. It s easy enough to find her; she s resting atop a pile of blankets while the other cats are out and about hunting. Starch is made up of amylose and amylopectin, where amylopectin is completely insoluble and amylose forms colloidal dispersions (University of California, 2015). The structure of amylose is made up of long polymer chains of glucose (University of California, 2015). An alpha acetal linkage connects these chains together (University of California, 2015). However, there is a very small amylose chain in starch (University of California, 2015). Instead the monomer units of glucose in starch are alpha D glucose, and the alpha acetal linkages connect carbon 1 from one glucose to the carbon 4 of another (University of California, 2015). Furthermore, the formation of a dark blue colour results from the amylose in the starch when mixed with iodine (University of California, 2015). Iodine is not soluble in water; hence mixing together iodine and potassium iodide makes the reagent soluble (University of California, 2015). The interactionalist perspective, which generalize about everyday forms of social interaction in order to explain society as a whole (Schaefer). However, in order to stay on track of the requirements set by the client, communicating with the client on a regular basis either by phone or by virtual meetings, the results of the project will most likely be a success. To me, the purpose of these meetings are to keep the client involved in the project as much as possible so that all the discussed requirements are well understood and if any changes are made by the client, then new changes can be made right there on the spot avoiding future delays. I think that the main goal here is to keep the client satisfied with the results as much as possible. When I say results I mean, making sure that what the client wants and do not want on the system application is included to the last detail.
