Mcadoo Organizational Structure
Henry Buggy wrote an article in the Headlines Global News website named, Giants Ben McAdoo
Says Eli Manning s Best Football is in Front of Him about the new coach McAdoo, and what he is
doing differently with the New York Giants in their off season. In this article, it touches on key terms
learned in chapter 15 of Organizational behavior: Improving performance and commitment in the
workplace by Colquitt, LePine, and Wesson. Restructuring, trust, survivor s guilt, and company
strategy are terms that apply to this article. The article highlights on how the Giants are restructuring
their program and getting used to different and new strategies, plans, and ideas in their stable
environment with their new head coach McAdoo.

McAdoo has seen improvements with his offensive drills in the past two years working as offensive
coordinator. He believes by building a new program around offense this will give the outcome of
winning games and the team participating in the playoffs. A Company strategy is an organization s
objectives and goals, assets to make money (Colquitt, LePine, Wesson, 2015). In the case with the
Giants the objectives and goals assets is to win games and make it to the playoffs. McAdoo s
objectives and changes consist of, making a new team schedule so that the players will have Mondays
off instead of Tuesdays in hopes of resting players more after games (Headlines Global News). Also,
he changed the players weight training philosophy to cut down on injuries and improve players with
injuries, such as Cruz (Headlines Global News). McAdoo s new objectives and goals for building a
new foundation hopefully will spark the players to perform at the best of their abilities, also giving the
fans a chance to see their team in next season s Super

The War of 1812 and Canadian History
The War of 1812 was an influential event, which marks its place in Canadian history. The heroic
efforts of Canadians helped to define who they are, determine what side of the border they live on, and
the flag they salute today. Therefore, The War of 1812 is the most significant historical event that lay
down the foundation for a nation. It united segregated colonies, secured borders with a strong militia,
and achieved the fundamental objective of defense.
Firstly, many groups of colonies worked in isolation because of different incentives. However during
the War of 1812, the small communities from different locations of British North America united,
securing relations. Prior to the war, many settlers in Upper Canada did not feel loyal to Great Britain.
Some were United Empire Loyalists, who had arrived from the North after the American Revolution
and believed that they would support and fight alongside with the Americans instead of British North
America. Others were American and had felt no connection towards the Crown. But when the
declaration for the war was given, both Upper and Lower Canada united and came together
collectively to fight against a common enemy, for the sake of their land. The Montreal Gazette editor
reports on the entire population of the city coming together to defend its frontier:
All classes of individuals ... have flown to the standard, with the determination of supporting their
national character, and defending their country from the unhallowed

Robert Iger Knew That For Disney To Be Successful, The
Robert Iger knew that for Disney to be successful, the company has to get the animation business
right, especially the new CG technology that was rapidly supplanting hand drawn animation. The
CEO is reflecting on the next steps to be taken by Disney. The available options include negotiating a
new distribution deal with Pixar or other animation studios, acquire Pixar, or to reengineer Disney
Animation to better compete with Pixar.
Analysis:
A SWOT analysis is conducted to illustrate the strengths and weaknesses of Walt Disney Company
and Pixar Inc., and understand the opportunities and threats in the movie industry.
The main strength of the Walt Disney Company is the high brand reputation and awareness of its
brand. Almost every person ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From our research, the percentage of revenue of home videos was almost three times higher than the
box office, which shows that the use of animation in the movie industry was not as popular at that
time. 2 D animation was the traditional way to produce a movie and was also used for most movies
before 3 D animation came out. Therefore, 3 D animation technology still has a lot of room for
improvement and development which is one of the opportunities. More information on SWOT
analysis is stated in the appendix from Figure 1.
Disney would only want to acquire Pixar given the benefits outweigh the costs and not vice versa.
Knowing the different costs and benefits is crucial in making this decision. First, Disney would be
able to get access to Pixar s proprietary 3 D computer animation software technology at lower cost
than Disney to develop the similar technology themselves. Pixar s software programs are
revolutionary compared to the traditional 2 D animation. These programs gave Pixar the capability to
reduce the time of making animation. Therefore, this capability provides Pixar a substantial cost
advantage while other studios that used 2 D animation require huge time investment and large staff of
drawers. Through acquisition, Disney could focus on its advantage on creating the colorful storyline
and characters, which are the core factors to make high quality films.

Time For Baseball To Pick Up The Pace
The article Time for Baseball to Pick Up the Pace by Bob Klapisch from The Record talks about how
the game of baseball is taking too much time and the game needs to make some changes to speed up
the game. One of the most important positions in baseball is the pitcher, but changing the pitcher for
every batter or multiple times in one should be limited to two per inning. Nothing has done more to
slow the pace of game than the over reliance on relievers, especially in the late innings(Klapisch).
Managers sometimes use three pitchers in one inning so they get the right matchups. By doing this
each new pitcher has to throw their warm up pitches. The pitchers also have to come in from the
bullpen to the mound. Both of these events take extra time

The Outbreak Of The Ebola Virus
There is no doubt that some of the most feared organisms on this planet are invisible to the human
eye. People are both fearful and fascinated by how such tiny microorganisms, such as viruses, can
cause the decimation of whole populations of both humans and various animals. At the current
moment, the worst outbreak of the Ebola virus that has ever happened is occurring in West Africa.
This disease is so frightening because it can quickly result in a terrible, agonizing death of any
unfortunate soul that has become infected. This specific virus can quite literally cause the liquefaction
of the organs within the human body. As Ebola takes hold of many villages and towns in West Africa,
surrounding countries are scrambling to send supplies and aid workers in an attempt to stop the spread
of such a lethal virus. The Ebola virus first made its way to the United States this past October,
sending many U.S. citizens in to a state of hysteria out of fear that an Ebola epidemic will occur on
American soil. As the death toll of the recent outbreak keeps rising steadily, only time will tell if the
virus can be stopped in its track before spreading across the globe to infect inhabitants in all corners of
the world.
Ebola belongs to the virus family Filoviridae. There are three genera in this family, which are the
Marburgvirus, Cuevavirus, and Ebolavirus (WHO, 2014). Filoviruses are encased within a lipoprotein
envelope that comes in a variety of different shapes, ranging from

Summary Of Slavery In Toni Morrison s Beloved
In the novel Beloved by Toni Morrison, the social, personal, and political cruelty of American slavery
is the central factor driving the story. The method of cruelty most prominent in Beloved is the
belittling of slaves at the hands of those with privileged identities, which ultimately reveals that the
victims in the novel are each on their own personal quests to reclaim their own identities. Within the
novel, Morrison utilizes animalistic language that contributes to the meaning of the work as a whole;
that one s identity can be destroyed when victim to a form of cruelty known as dehumanization. One
of the most notable moments in which Morrison uses language related to animals to describe a scene
of abuse and powerlessness occurs when Sethe partakes in a sexual act with the tomb engraver as an
alternative method of payment. The narrator describes the situation once saying [Sethe] thought it
would be enough, rutting among headstones with the engraver, his young son looking on, the anger in
his face so old; the appetite in it quite new (5). A key aspect to this graphic scene is the nature of the
son and his father who both contribute to the cruel dehumanization of Sethe. Morrison creates a sense
of spectatorship, as if Sethe was just an object to peer at, by describing the son as looking on.
Furthermore, the engravers apparent anger and appetite immediately invoke a dynamic of a predator
seeking out its prey as those two words indicate an animalistic, instinctual

Junior Research Paper on Wrestling
The History Of Wrestling My first year of wrestling was in high school my junior year. I wrestled at
Forbush High School in the 106/113 pound weight class throughout this winter sport. Before, I must
admit that I did at many different times think that the sport of wrestling was the most dumb and
homosexual sport ever. One of my friends came up to me a few months after and asked me what I
thought about wrestling. I told him like I said to everyone else, It s the most homosexual sport ever
created. He said, When you re out there wrestling, you don t think about it. I challenge you to come

A new era of wrestling was born called the WWWF (World Wide Wrestling Federation). The WWWF
was founded by Vince McMahon Sr. and Toots Mondt in the year of 1963 when Capital Wrestling
broke away from the NWA. The WWWF performed in the cities of New York, Philadelphia,
Pittsburgh, Boston, Washington D.C., Baltimore, and other smaller towns as well (Strongbow). A man
named Buddy Rogers was selected to be the very first WWWF champion in 1963. He was veteran
wrestler at the time and was defeated by Bruno Sammartino after only holding the title for only a few
months. Sammartino held the title until 1971 until he was defeated by Ivan Koloff, who later on
defeated Koloff in 1973 (Strongbow). The company was renamed from WWWF to WWF (World
Wrestling Federation) in 1979 ( Online World Of Wrestling ). Vince McMahon Sr. sold the company
to his son Vince McMahon Jr. in 1983 (Cohen). Vince set out to conquer the wrestling world with his
new company. One of Vince s first moves was signing legend Hulk Hogan who is still considered one
of the greatest WWF wrestlers to this very day. He signed Hulk Hogan as an ambassador for his
wrestling brand. Vince had found out it was costing him a lot of money to be on TV. and needed to do
something big for his company. In 1985 the WWF made their first impact by Vince getting Mr. T the
main event match for the first Wrestlemania event; the WWF was unstoppable.

Aldous Huxley s Brave New World
Aldous Huxley s Brave New World kindles many questions about today s social order and considers
the questionable society exposed in the book. Throughout the book, Huxley presents a world much
different than the one we are accustomed to. Some question whether the novel portrays a dystopian or
utopian civilization. There are a variety of advantages and disadvantages of Huxley s world paralleled
to the one we live in today. Two major disadvantages considered consist of the lack of family,
monogamy, and social organization; as well as the need for soma in lieu of happiness, or rather the
fake happiness it compromises. In contrast, the benefits of the society are limited. These consist of
concepts behind the elimination of conflicts, commitments, and worries. Everybody observes the story
from a different perspective. Knowing the gains and losses of each society, which pertain to the family
system, monogamy, feelings of world peace, elimination of commitment, and the exclusion of disease,
will assist a person in concluding their belief on whether each culture is flawless or severely corrupt.
Some may argue that Huxley s removal of the normal family system and replacement of it with a
polygamous arrangement is an enthusiastic one. However, the concept behind monogamy and family
is a beautiful one. Monogamy is strength, it gives people a home and a person they can trust and
believe in with their whole heart. With polygamy arises drama, distrust, hatred, lust, and jealousy.

Texas Income Tax
The state of Texas should not adopt a personal income tax. Any legislator who would propose a bill
seeking to establish a state income tax would be seriously questioned, because a state income tax is
currently unconstitutional.
The Texas Constitution was amended in 1993, during Governor William P. Clements second
administration, to prohibit a state income tax. Therefore, any such proposal would have serious
difficulties passing both chambers of the legislature and then it would be subject to ratification
through a statewide referendum. Texas lack of a state income tax seems to have enhanced its economy
vitality with this approach. It also lacks a corporate income tax, which is not prohibited by the
Constitution. Texas is one of seven ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This could cut the local tax rate in most school districts now around $1.50 per $100 of property value
for maintenance and operations (M O) to roughly 50 cents! The maximum M O tax rate also now
generally capped at $1.50 must be reduced by the same percentage as total M O taxes. If the income
tax cut the property tax rate by 65%, then it would also cut the tax cap by 65%. After the cap was cut,
only the voters in a school district could increase their district s maximum tax rate. The Bullock
Amendment then provides that the remaining one third of income tax revenue could be spent, but only
on education. State income tax payments are deductible from taxable income in calculating federal
income taxes. Deductibility shifts part of the cost of public education to the federal government. The
above chart shows that, although the tax would have raised $16.4 billion in 2004, the net cost to Texas
taxpayers would have been only $3.9 billion. Lower property taxes would have returned most of the
new revenue ($10.9 billion) to taxpayers. Uncle Sam would have picked up 10% of the total cost of
the income tax ($1.6 billion) through higher deductions on federal tax

What Is Sarah Vowell Shooting Dad Essay
Shooting Dad by Sarah Vowell tells the interesting story of a girl with views that oppose that of her
father s. Sarah s father, Pat, works as a gunsmith and is a massive gun enthusiast, while Sarah herself
is more into music. Throughout this story, Sarah relates to the reader how passionate her and her dad
are about their different hobbies and perspectives. With all of the tension in the house from the
drastically different points of view, they must figure out how to coexist. Sarah and her father find their
bond through the joys of cannons, which also leads Sarah to the conclusion that they are not as
different as she once thought. This story goes to great lengths to show the reader that just because
people have differences, does not mean that they cannot or do not have similarities as well.
How can two people holding diametrically opposed political, social, and cultural views peacefully
coexist in the same household?
Sarah and her dad experienced a great deal of conflict with them having opposing viewpoints on many
political, social, and cultural issues. Even with all of this conflict felt by Sarah, she was able to see that
her and her dad are not as different as she may have thought. To be able to coexist ... Show more

for their citizens. One major problem in the third world countries is the disease burden. Waterborne
diseases make a major contribution to diseases burden in the third world. As per the World Health
Organization, waterborne diseases contribute to about 4.1% to the daily burden of diseases on the

Infants and the elderly are particularly susceptible to waterborne diseases due to their weak
immunities (3rd World Water Congress: drinking water treatment : selected proceedings of the 3rd

2002, 2002). Children s immunity experiences most of the diseases for the first time making the body
not to respond adequately to the pathogens. Their immunity improves with age as their immunity
continues to register these pathogens and develops their antibodies. Elderly people have weak
immunity as immunity only gets impaired with old age. Protozoan diseases include Amoebiases,
Cryptosporidiosis, Cyclosporiasi, Giardiasis, and Microsporidiosis among others. Each disease listed
above has its own protozoan pathogen. Each protozoan has a common habitat in contaminated water.
Such habitats include sewage, on flies from contaminated water, animal manure, run off water,
groundwater, leaks, and where people share water with animals. Common symptoms of these diseases

Analysis Of The Lesson
Toni Bambara s The Lesson was published in 1972. Bambara wants to show not just the inequality
that was widening and separating people in the 1970 s but also how it limits the worldview of the
children growing up in poverty. Bambara also shows the effect that learning about it would have on
the children. This piece of fiction tells the story of a group of children being shown an unfortunate
truth about their world by a more knowledgeable teacher. Bambara uses rhetorical appeals, dialect,
symbolism, and juxtaposition to show the level of disparity and how the children s worldview has
been limited. The Lesson presented of a group of children who were, reluctantly waiting for Miss
Moore, an educated woman who volunteered to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She went from a poor upbringing to one of relative wealth, therefore, she has seen both worlds and
wants to show what that experience was first like. Her parents were able to give her trips and exposure
to the world outside of her neighborhood much like Miss Moore does in the story.
Bambara tackles two groups with this story, one is the wealthy white community. She wants them to
see what the inequality is doing to the poor black community. She shows how economic
discrimination by the wealthy white community is still having a major negative impact. The other
group she is writing to is the poor black community as she tries to show them that they cannot stop at
changing the laws. They must fight to be equal economically with equitable wealth distribution and
have a wider worldview than just a few city blocks. Bambara argues that many people never leave
their areas of familiarity. That the children would live their lives trapped in the same cycles of poor
neighborhoods and work if they are not exposed to the world outside of it. Bambara also argues that
the wealthy would never see the poverty of the poor if they are not brought out to their comfort zones.
The lesson is a fictional short story. As such it changes both how we read it and what we can get out of
it. We see real people when we read a short story. Numbers can be quite cold and when we hear the
numbers about a problem it can

Ultrasound Technician, No Two Days
However for an ultrasound technician, no two days are exactly the same. Each shift brings with it a
new docket of patients with different ailments. The ultrasound technician job description may call for
a tech to be on their feet for a majority of the day; working in darkened rooms while performing their
scan. Every appointment is different from the last and these sessions can last anywhere from 20
minutes to an hour. When finished, the reports are then sent to a radiologist for review and diagnosis.
Like many healthcare jobs, working so closely with a physician or surgeon under stressful
circumstances can become a little overwhelming. This is why proper training comes in hand. A very
talented Ultrasound Technician should have an excellent grasp on anatomy and an ability to spot
irregularities with the imagery. Ultrasound technicians, also known as diagnostic medical
sonographers, operate machines called sonographic scanners that create images of patients internal
organs. Sonographers can work in physicians offices, clinics or hospitals, and night and weekend
shifts may be required. They may specialize in certain areas, such as breast, obstetric or vascular
sonography. An associate s or bachelor s degree is usually required, and individuals who already hold
a degree in another area of healthcare often can complete sonography training through a one year
certificate program. Sonographers spend much of their day moving around from room to room in a

How Is Language Used In Her First Ball
Katherine Mansfield s short story Her First Ball introduces us to Leila, a country girl on her way to
her first ball with her cousins, the Sheridan sisters. A range of language features convey Leila s
attitude of naive and excitement as the ball begins, and her transition to a young woman who is more
socially experienced and mature by the end of the story. The story conveys the message that loss of
innocence and youthful fantasy is an inevitable and vital part of the transition from adolescence to
adulthood. At the beginning of the story, Leila s attitude towards the ball is one of exuberance as she
has ever experienced anything like it before. Mansfield uses expressive language features such as

Cell Phones And Mobile Cars
Throughout human advancement our brain has developed new abilities, ingenuity, and intelligence, all
of which are crucial to precede in the next step of evolution. However all of those factors do not help
the vulnerable mind achieve one goal while driving which is avoiding distractions. The conflict with
driving that most experienced and inexperienced drivers have, is the confrontation with inner and
outer disturbances in their environment. Throughout the beginnings of the first mobile cars, many
diversions from the outside environment were the reasons for many accidents. However, these
diversions have changed throughout the involvement and advancement of technology. The term
mobile is now fused with transportation ad communication. Mobile phones and mobile cars might
have the same expression but do not mix well together. The development of time absorbing apps and
games has come a long way in its process of just being temporarily useful programs. Each time these
utilities enhance their abilities; the danger rises therefore being a contributor to becoming an even
greater temptation (Bernstein Bernstein 1). The device at hand could be a weapon if not an accomplice
of an accident. Interacting with any hand held gadget, increases the risk of involving death to any

The Importance Of Mental Strength In The Novel Night
Mental Strength is the most valuable strength in a survival situation because it can not be lost or taken
away from someone. According to Caroline Alexander s article The Voyage of the James Caird the
crew of the James Caird needed mental strength to survive the dangerous journey. In the article she
writes Worsley, despite the rank discomfort, was in his element. He was conscious of being in the
midst of a great adventure which had been his life s ambition (Alexander 185). Here it is shown that
despite the physical challenges Worsley was still able to maintain his mental strength which kept him
going. Similar to the crew of the James Caird Sherpas that climb Mt. Everest to transport goods also
need mental strength to make it through their job. In the article The Value of the Sherpa Life by
Grayson Schaffer it states And perhaps most significantly, the amount of time that Sherpas spend
making laps through the deadly Khumbu Icefall and up the Lhotse Face (Schaffer 218). Schaffer
explains that despite the physically grueling laps their mental strength which kept them going was
maintained. Similar to the Sherpas of Mt. Everest and the crew of the James Caird in Elie Wiesel s
memoir Night he needed mental strength to survive in the concentration camps of World War II. In the
book it says An icy wind was blowing violently. But we marched without faltering (Wiesel 85).

Genre Theory Paper
Genre theory is used in the study of films in order to categorize films. Genre are dependent on
different factors such as who the director is, story line, and audience expectations (Azia, n.d). Genres
are types or categories and genre films that are usually recognizable as part of a certain genre
(Goodykoontz, B., Jacobs, 2014, section 4.1). To better understand genre there are several examples to
look at. When watching a fantasy film we know that within the movie we will expect to see unreal,
magical, or impossible situations, characters or settings often overlapping with various other genres
(GoodyKoontz, 2014). In musical films you will see that the film mainly focuses on songs. Genres
also have subgenres which are sub categories of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead of strictly dialogue, the narrative may from time to time be advanced by characters breaking
into song. Numerous subgenres exist within the musical genre from musical comedy to musical drama
to animated musicals to musical documentaries and concert films (Goodykoontz, B., Jacobs, 2014,
section 4.4). A scene that helps classify Snow White and the Seven dwarfs into the animated musical
genre is the scene where all the dwarfs are working hard at the jewelry mine and once work gets over
they walk home in a single line singing the song heigh ho heigh ho its home from work we go as they
dance and skip on their walk home from work. Another scene that illustrates a musical/fantasy genre is
the scene where Snow White discovers the dwarf s cabin and with help from the animals of the forest
she starts to clean the house while singing whistle while you work. I m sure we would all love if our
animals could help us with chores around the house but that will most likely never happen. This is a
perfect example of a movie with fantasy genre. The fantasy genre has events that occur outside the
ordinary laws that operate within the universe. Magic is central to the fantasy genre and fantasy stories
often involve journeys and quests like the wicked queen on a quest to kill Snow White. There are three
different ways that fantasy writers set up their worlds. Some films begin and end in a fantasy world,
others start in the real world and a third type of fantasy is set in the real world but elements of magic

Honduras, The Land Of No Peace
Honduras, the land of no peace
Honduras is a mountainous area located in Central America. North and northwest of the Caribbean
Sea, Honduras is south of Nicaragua and west of Guatemala also being southwest of El Salvador
below the Pacific Ocean. The topography of the land is mainly mountainous with some non tropical
areas on the upper climate and tropical areas on the climate on the lower parts. Honduras also has a
little bit of flat land. Honduras is shaped similarly to the United States but flipped, being surrounded
by a sea and three countries with an opening at the bottom to the Pacific Ocean as mentioned above.
Honduras has been captured again and again. The country is new with its independence and struggles
because of it. The history of Honduras is a struggle for its people. The authors, who are unknown,
wrote Republic of Honduras. Background Notes on Countries of the World 2003, stated that,
Columbus landed at mainland Honduras (Trujillo) in 1502. He named it Honduras (meaning depths )
for the deep water off the coast. Spaniard Hernan Cortes arrived in 1524. The Spanish began founding
settlements along the coast and Honduras came under the control of the Captaincy General of
Guatemala. Independence was given in the year of 1821when they separated from Spain. They soon
joined the coalition of Central American Nations in 1823 called the United Provinces of Central
America or the UPOCA. The United Provinces of Central America did not last long. The countries

Harry Erskine Series Essay
The Harry Erskine series is a set of novels by renowned British horror novelist Graham Masterton.
Given that Graham dabs in so many other genres and has many other series under his belt, the
publication of the six novels in the series has been sporadic. That being said the bulk of the novels
have been published between 1976 and 2009. The lead character in the series is the self styled psychic
Harry Erskine. When we first come across the enigmatic Erskine, he is a shaman earning his living
through providing psychic reading to an assortment of old rich ladies in New York City. Nonetheless,
given the high demand for his services, he frequently travels to other cities on the Eastern seaboard
such as Miami. Harry Erskine had been skeptical of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In these novels, the crime committed involves the killing of Native Americans and taking away of
their land by European settler centuries ago. The crimes that were committed by the early settlers are
now coming back to haunt their children in the form of a Manitou spiritual bodies of the Native
Algonquin peoples. In the Graham Masterton novels, the Manitou is Misquamacus one of the most
powerful Native American Medicine Men who ever lived who makes his first appearance in the first
novel, The Manitou. An ancient Arabian genie is the main antagonist in the Djinn, the second novel of
the series. The Harry Erskine series of novels has variously been described as one of the best fiction
novels that you could ever read. Masterton creates a brilliant supernatural threat, lovable, memorable
characters, and fantastic pacing that provides an ever increasing sense of dread. The novels provide
some good descriptions where you just need them and are vague enough to leave you in suspense,
which is what you would want from a horror novel. The antagonist Misquamacus is a frightening
though vague figure that has the power to conjure the most frightening of North American demons.
With such a formidable foe, you are left wondering if Harry Erskine and his sidekick could ever learn
enough, to stop the

Paget s Disease Of Bone
Paget s disease of bone (PDB), also known as osteitis deformans, is named after Sir James Paget, an
English surgeon, who first described the disease in 1877. Since then, research has determined that
15% to 40% of cases are inherited and the balance is thought to be caused by exposure to a slow
viruses like human respiratory syncytial virus or canine distemper virus, however, symptoms may not
appear for many years afterward. In about half of cases that are hereditary, a mutated gene has been
isolated that is known to cause osteoclasts to become rogue and un regulated. PDB causes long bones
to grow unnaturally long causing pain and osteoarthritis, hearing loss and nervous systems disorders
from pressure on the brain caused by cranium overgrowth, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Then, characteristic x ray signatures and elevated total alkaline phos phatase (ALP) levels confirm the
disease and bone scans and individual bone x rays determine the extent of damaged areas. However,
total ALP levels remain within reference levels as long as the disease is monostotic, that is, involving
a single bone. Total ALP is not a marker until remodeling has gone far astray in several bones that are
grossly misshapen. And, because it is widely recognized that prevalence and severity of PDB is
decreasing in the world population, total ALP levels remain within reference ranges far longer, making
anecdotal discovery rare. Although there is no cure for PDB, early detection is vital for
commencement of diet, exercise, and drug regimens that significantly mitigate debilitating symptoms
and disease progression. Per Magnusson, Michael Davie and Christopher Sharp compared total ALP
and three isoforms of ALP (B/I, B1, B2) of 37 patients with various stages of PDB and a control group
of 66 healthy patients. Their findings revealed that the B2 isoform of ALP is increased in
asymptomatic PDB patients with a validity of 80% on a characteristic comparison curve of true
postive to false positive ratios. High bone B2 isoform ALP levels may be of use in early discovery,
however, only total ALP levels are routinely

The Pros And Cons Of Purity s Chocolate Milk
As kids just about everybody enjoyed that sweet tasting drink, chocolate milk. Today even adults
enjoy the drink. Why do so many people of all ages appreciate the taste? Probably because its
chocolate and milk combined, so whats not to like! Chocolate milk has been around since the early
1700s when it first saw the light of day in Jamaica, but Purity s brand has been around since 1946 with
its headquarters being in Nashville Tennessee. The time between the 1700s to 2016 the taste has not
changed very much, but the products ingredients have changed. Although Purity s chocolate milk is a
tasty drink, the ingredients in the packaging as well as the milk itself may raise suspicion, or concern,

Some milks are packaged in cartons, others are packaged in plastic bottles. Plastic bottles have been
but on blast for years due to the research conducted that shows that they are possibly harmful to our
health. A few myths that surround plastic bottles are that they are only harmful when they re warmed
up, the plastic is only harmful to small children, and you need to avoid only certain types of plastic
bottles (Smart Publications). None of these are true just about all plastic bottles can be harmful, but
usually are not. The label for what kind of bottle is being used is engraved on the bottom of the bottle.
The specific type of bottle that Purity uses for their chocolate milk is #2 HDPE. This particular type of
bottle has a few ingredients most people have never heard of such as Resins made from ethylene and
propylene resins and have flame retardants added (Smart Publications). After some research is done on
ethylene one can find out Ethylene is a small hydrocarbon gas. It is naturally occurring. Some fruit
will produce ethylene as ripening begins (WSU) Because this gas is naturally occurring and fruits
produce it to help with the ripening process, one shouldn t be concerned about ethylene anymore.
Propylene, on the other hand does raise some concern even after researching. According to www.linde

advantage. This fuel gas

Red Flags ( Risks )
Red Flags (risks) implicit in the scenario
Given the outline above there are risks to be considered which are potentially suspicious or red flags
which give rise to money laundering or terrorist financing risks, specifically;
Funds transfer large deposits from unconnected third parties in high risk jurisdictions and large cash
deposits by the customer could indicate money laundering
Activity inconsistent with customers business Letter of credit for cement when the customer is a small
trader (fruit and veg) this could indicate terrorist financing (in Dec 2014 multiple press articles
indicating cement for rebuilding Gaza diverted to terror tunnels and also presents a trade finance risk
(In July 2013 the FCA issued a report on the state of the major banks control of AML risks relating to
trade finance, one of the main findings was that Letters of Credit were not reviewed sufficiently
reviewed (https://www.fca.org.uk/news/tr13 03 banks control of financial crime risks in trade
finance))
Lending request for loans possibly obscuring movement of funds
Large cash deposits seemingly large deposits would be strange give the nature of the business
The presence of such red flags does not necessarily indicate by itself criminal activity but certainly
closer scrutiny is required to determine whether the activity is suspicious or there doesn t appear to be
reasonable business use. The primary focus should be on reporting suspicious activity, rather than

Dark Imagery In Wise Blood By Flannery O Connor
Through the use of the dark imagery and the Essex, religious symbolism in Wise Blood appears again
and again to prove that the longings of the heart cannot be found in the world. O Connor uses darkness
to delve into certain aspects of each character. She depicts Taulkinham as a grim place. When the main
character, Haze, begins his new life in this new town, it is depicted to have a black sky, he soon sees a
man with a black suit and a black hat... accompanies a girl with her black dress and black knitted cap...
(O Connor 35). Not only does this act as a haunting description of setting, but these dark details can
act as bold and bright red flags, for these characters dressed in black and this depressing town looming
with destruction. She continues to describe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The darkness in Hazel s eyes at the end of the novel is comforting and symbolizes salvation (Brown).
The darkness that Enoch runs into, and is wearing, symbolizes alienation and friendship. TOne of the
few female characters presented is a young lady named Sabbath and her blind father Asa. The eyes of
Asa, and his daughter s weird sexual fetish with Hazel, represent the symbol of innocence, ultimate
demise, and hopelessness. She uses the symbol of darkness throughout the novel as a recurring object
to justify salvation, alienation, friendship, blindness, and redemption. The darkness symbolizes the
redemption. Ultimate salvation that is supposedly coming to Hazel. The color of the suit is black;
therefore, the darkness, embedded in the suit, symbolizes his salvation and redemption throughout the
novel. He wears it and it wears him. It is inescapable. The blind theme of the novel has nothing to do
with human eyes. It has to do with the fact that the characters have all blinded themselves; they have
shut their eyes to the truth of Christ (Brown). Blindness is not something to envy and is no less than a
handicap, but it s an easy out from the truth of

CCPC introduced a new product September 1, 2009 called Fresh Bright. Part of CCPC s marketing

The 500,000 coupons could be used through October 1, 2010. CCPC has data one six month coupons

not result in a loss on the sale of a product or service, a vendor shall recognize the cost of such a sales

a. The date at which the related revenue is recognized by the vendor.
When CCPC sells the detergent to the wholersales and recognizes that revenue they should also be

Analysis of issue 3: What is the dollar amount of the effect of the Fresh Bright coupon drop on CCPC
s financial statement?
CCPC released approximately 500,000 coupons that will expire in one year to promote new detergent
product. As CCPC has not offered coupons on detergent and coupons with a one year expiration date
before, it does not have any data to make reasonable and reliable estimation of redemption rate. CCPC
should recognize the maximum potential amount of the rebate, which is equal to $1 million ($2 *
500,000 coupons), as deferred revenue or liability. Per ASC 605 50 25 4:

Erik Erikson s Explanation Of Psychosocial Development
Erik Erikson s explanation of psychosocial development is one of the best known theories of
personality in psychology. The term psychosocial development is the pattern of change in emotions,
personality and social relationship ( A Child s World 10). Erikson believed that the achievements and
failures of earlier stages influence later stages, whereas later stages change and transform earlier ones.
His theory shows the impact on social relationships throughout one s entire life. Each individual goes
through eight developmental stages, and each stage is characterized by a different crisis in personality
a major psychosocial theme that is above all important at that time but will remain an issue to some
degree throughout the rest of life ( A Child s World). To Erikson, the sequence of the stages are set by
nature. It is within the set limits that nurture works its ways ( Erikson s Stages of Development ).
Developmental scientists study three major domains, or aspects, of the self: physical, cognitive, and
psychosocial. Growth of the body and brain, sensory capacities, motor skills, and health are parts of
physical development. Learning, attention, memory, language, thinking, reasoning, and creativity
make up cognitive development. Emotions, personality, and social relationships are aspects of
psychosocial development ( Experience Human Development ). Each aspect of development affects
the others. For example, during puberty, dramatic physical and hormonal changes

Dover Beach and Farenheit 451
English 2342
20 April 2011
Dover Beach and Fahrenheit 451 The classic poem, Dover Beach, written by Matthew Arnold, is a
statement about losing faith as a result of enlightenment. In an emotionally charged scene in Ray
Bradbury s novel, Fahrenheit 451, fireman Guy Montag reads the poem aloud to his wife and her
friends. Bradbury could have chosen any piece of literature for Montag to read as a means of
unveiling his collection of hoarded books and his newfound interest in reading them. Bradbury uses
this particular piece because the speaker in the poem is expressing feelings that are very similar to
those of Montag in Fahrenheit 451. Matthew Arnold s masterpiece, Dover Beach, has been dissected
and analyzed endlessly since its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the world... hath really neither joy, nor love, nor light, nor certitude, nor peace, nor help for pain.
With this statement, Arnold is announcing the big question for the modern world, intent on forcing
love to bear the enormous weight of providing human lives with meaning: If love is all humans have,
what do they do when they cannot find love, or keep it? (Ingersoll) Through the words of the man
looking at the bay out the window with his love, Matthew Arnold has challenged two of the most
widely accepted and unquestioned fundamental beliefs of the past few centuries, or even millennia:
faith and love. In Fahrenheit 451, Guy Montag is his society s Matthew Arnold. Instead of being a
reverend s son, he is a fireman s son. Firemen in Montag s world don t extinguish fires, they create
them in order to destroy books and all the possible evils that the books contain. His society burns
books as if it is a religion. By becoming a fireman himself, Montag is positioned as an integral part of
this religion. However, as he becomes more and more curious about why they burn the books without
ever questioning the burning, he starts to secretly hide books away in the air conditioning vent in his
home. Montag knows that hoarding these books is against the law in the society in which he lives, and
even punishable by death in extreme cases. The society in which Bradbury has created in Fahrenheit
451 is what is referred to as dystopian. While

Film Noir Analysis
With its tone and specific style, Film Noir has become one of the prominent elements that helped
shape the American cinema. Within film noir, drama, romance, thriller, and crime are the main genres
that can be seen in noir films. From all this amalgamation of genres, the topic of whether film noir is a
genre or not does seem interesting, but it is particularly the themes and the style that seems to generate
this conversation. Film noir itself can be seen as more of a film movement than a genre.
Paul Schrader mentions how it presents a specific period of film history, portraying the world of dark,
slick city streets, crime, and corruption. If this were to be about genres, this description would
generally belong in the crime category. Noir ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These include cars, cafes, offices, and trains, and the films would typically come up with public places
in order to emphasize how crimes can happen to anyone at any time and place. The intro of Robert
Siodmak s 1946 film The Killers places two hitmen in a diner with a customer and two workers, and
the intensity ensues right when the hitmen warn them of their violence, until Swede is killed. In
Detour, the café was presented as a place of reflection for the main character, but The Killers presents
it as a more dangerous place. The movie does not start straight from the diner, but the outdoor area just
right outside the diner, and that establishes the tone and the state of that part of town, with obscure
lights, silhouettes of the hitmen, night setting, and fog. Even in such a confined space like a diner,
certain imagery like the hitmen and their guns would elicit feeling of intimidation and tension from
the rest of the characters and also the audience, especially when one of the hitmen hides behind the
window and sticks his gun out, just in case Swede enters. The imagery of places and characters thus
reminds the viewers that the outward appearances are not what they actually seem, and one would
have to look deeply to understand the full

Wuthering Heights Punishment
She was much too fond of Heathcliff. The greatest punishment we could invent for her was to keep
her separate from him: yet she got chided more than any of us on his account. (42). For Catherine and
Heathcliff, love and punishment will always intertwine. Nelly, the servant, clearly states this
observation to a tee. Their tortured love stretches afar, but would probably not do well under peaceful
circumstances. They seem to thrive on drama. Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte is a story of
passionate love that encompasses two generations of two families: the Earnshaws and the Lintons.

Though not as intense as his father s affairs, Linton starts secretly writing to Cathy at Thrushcross
Grange where she then secretly writes him back as well. At this time, Cathy makes fun of Hareton for
his lack of education and filth. Unlike the first love triangle to occur in the family, Linton and Hareton
did not once discuss Cathy or have any hatred towards one another. Heathcliff desperately tries to
push Linton and Cathy together in hopes of a marriage which then gives him the ownership of
Thrushcross Grange. Taking drastic measures, Heathcliff locks Nelly and Cathy in Wuthering Heights
and marries Linton and Cathy who do in fact love each other. Linton eventually dies, leaving only
Heathcliff, Cathy, Hareton, and the servants at Wuthering Heights. Until one day when Hareton
accidentally shoots himself, Cathy tends to him. At first they argue, but eventually they come to an
understanding and start to get along. They eventually fall in love and Cathy promises Hareton how to

Their intimacy thus commenced grew rapidly; though it encountered temporary interruptions.

disease. The fiber containing groups that fell short of the recommended intake were fruits and
vegetables. The amount of fruits I took in was lower than the vegetable intake. The specific foods that
provided the most fiber in my meals were the vegetables and the oatmeal.
Dietary Modifications The changes that I would make to increase the fiber in my diet, would be to
include more fruits and vegetables in my daily intake. The daily recommended intake of fiber was 21

  • 3. The War of 1812 and Canadian History The War of 1812 was an influential event, which marks its place in Canadian history. The heroic efforts of Canadians helped to define who they are, determine what side of the border they live on, and the flag they salute today. Therefore, The War of 1812 is the most significant historical event that lay down the foundation for a nation. It united segregated colonies, secured borders with a strong militia, and achieved the fundamental objective of defense. Firstly, many groups of colonies worked in isolation because of different incentives. However during the War of 1812, the small communities from different locations of British North America united, securing relations. Prior to the war, many settlers in Upper Canada did not feel loyal to Great Britain. Some were United Empire Loyalists, who had arrived from the North after the American Revolution and believed that they would support and fight alongside with the Americans instead of British North America. Others were American and had felt no connection towards the Crown. But when the declaration for the war was given, both Upper and Lower Canada united and came together collectively to fight against a common enemy, for the sake of their land. The Montreal Gazette editor reports on the entire population of the city coming together to defend its frontier: All classes of individuals ... have flown to the standard, with the determination of supporting their national character, and defending their country from the unhallowed ... Robert Iger Knew That For Disney To Be Successful, The Robert Iger knew that for Disney to be successful, the company has to get the animation business right, especially the new CG technology that was rapidly supplanting hand drawn animation. The CEO is reflecting on the next steps to be taken by Disney. The available options include negotiating a new distribution deal with Pixar or other animation studios, acquire Pixar, or to reengineer Disney Animation to better compete with Pixar. Analysis: A SWOT analysis is conducted to illustrate the strengths and weaknesses of Walt Disney Company and Pixar Inc., and understand the opportunities and threats in the movie industry. From our research, the percentage of revenue of home videos was almost three times higher than the box office, which shows that the use of animation in the movie industry was not as popular at that time. 2 D animation was the traditional way to produce a movie and was also used for most movies before 3 D animation came out. Therefore, 3 D animation technology still has a lot of room for improvement and development which is one of the opportunities. More information on SWOT analysis is stated in the appendix from Figure 1. Disney would only want to acquire Pixar given the benefits outweigh the costs and not vice versa. Knowing the different costs and benefits is crucial in making this decision. First, Disney would be able to get access to Pixar s proprietary 3 D computer animation software technology at lower cost than Disney to develop the similar technology themselves. Pixar s software programs are revolutionary compared to the traditional 2 D animation. These programs gave Pixar the capability to reduce the time of making animation. Therefore, this capability provides Pixar a substantial cost advantage while other studios that used 2 D animation require huge time investment and large staff of drawers. Through acquisition, Disney could focus on its advantage on creating the colorful storyline and characters, which are the core factors to make high quality films. Second, ... Time For Baseball To Pick Up The Pace The article Time for Baseball to Pick Up the Pace by Bob Klapisch from The Record talks about how the game of baseball is taking too much time and the game needs to make some changes to speed up the game. One of the most important positions in baseball is the pitcher, but changing the pitcher for every batter or multiple times in one should be limited to two per inning. Nothing has done more to slow the pace of game than the over reliance on relievers, especially in the late innings(Klapisch). Managers sometimes use three pitchers in one inning so they get the right matchups. By doing this each new pitcher has to throw their warm up pitches. The pitchers also have to come in from the bullpen to the mound. Both of these events take extra time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

People are both fearful and fascinated by how such tiny microorganisms, such as viruses, can cause the decimation of whole populations of both humans and various animals. At the current moment, the worst outbreak of the Ebola virus that has ever happened is occurring in West Africa. This disease is so frightening because it can quickly result in a terrible, agonizing death of any unfortunate soul that has become infected. This specific virus can quite literally cause the liquefaction of the organs within the human body. As Ebola takes hold of many villages and towns in West Africa, surrounding countries are scrambling to send supplies and aid workers in an attempt to stop the spread of such a lethal virus. The Ebola virus first made its way to the United States this past October, sending many U.S. citizens in to a state of hysteria out of fear that an Ebola epidemic will occur on American soil. As the death toll of the recent outbreak keeps rising steadily, only time will tell if the virus can be stopped in its track before spreading across the globe to infect inhabitants in all corners of the world. Ebola belongs to the virus family Filoviridae. There are three genera in this family, which are the Marburgvirus, Cuevavirus, and Ebolavirus (WHO, 2014). • 7. Summary Of Slavery In Toni Morrison s Beloved In the novel Beloved by Toni Morrison, the social, personal, and political cruelty of American slavery is the central factor driving the story. The method of cruelty most prominent in Beloved is the belittling of slaves at the hands of those with privileged identities, which ultimately reveals that the victims in the novel are each on their own personal quests to reclaim their own identities. Within the novel, Morrison utilizes animalistic language that contributes to the meaning of the work as a whole; that one s identity can be destroyed when victim to a form of cruelty known as dehumanization. One of the most notable moments in which Morrison uses language related to animals to describe a scene of abuse and powerlessness occurs when Sethe partakes in a sexual act with the tomb engraver as an alternative method of payment. The narrator describes the situation once saying [Sethe] thought it would be enough, rutting among headstones with the engraver, his young son looking on, the anger in his face so old; the appetite in it quite new (5). A key aspect to this graphic scene is the nature of the son and his father who both contribute to the cruel dehumanization of Sethe. Morrison creates a sense of spectatorship, as if Sethe was just an object to peer at, by describing the son as looking on. Furthermore, the engravers apparent anger and appetite immediately invoke a dynamic of a predator seeking out its prey as those two words indicate an animalistic, instinctual ... • 10. Aldous Huxley s Brave New World Aldous Huxley s Brave New World kindles many questions about today s social order and considers the questionable society exposed in the book. Throughout the book, Huxley presents a world much different than the one we are accustomed to. Some question whether the novel portrays a dystopian or utopian civilization. There are a variety of advantages and disadvantages of Huxley s world paralleled to the one we live in today. Two major disadvantages considered consist of the lack of family, monogamy, and social organization; as well as the need for soma in lieu of happiness, or rather the fake happiness it compromises. In contrast, the benefits of the society are limited. These consist of concepts behind the elimination of conflicts, commitments, and worries. Everybody observes the story from a different perspective. Knowing the gains and losses of each society, which pertain to the family system, monogamy, feelings of world peace, elimination of commitment, and the exclusion of disease, will assist a person in concluding their belief on whether each culture is flawless or severely corrupt. Some may argue that Huxley s removal of the normal family system and replacement of it with a polygamous arrangement is an enthusiastic one. However, the concept behind monogamy and family is a beautiful one. Monogamy is strength, it gives people a home and a person they can trust and believe in with their whole heart. With polygamy arises drama, distrust, hatred, lust, and jealousy. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Texas Income Tax The state of Texas should not adopt a personal income tax. Any legislator who would propose a bill seeking to establish a state income tax would be seriously questioned, because a state income tax is currently unconstitutional. The Texas Constitution was amended in 1993, during Governor William P. Clements second administration, to prohibit a state income tax. Therefore, any such proposal would have serious difficulties passing both chambers of the legislature and then it would be subject to ratification through a statewide referendum. Texas lack of a state income tax seems to have enhanced its economy vitality with this approach. It also lacks a corporate income tax, which is not prohibited by the Constitution. The maximum M O tax rate also now generally capped at $1.50 must be reduced by the same percentage as total M O taxes. If the income tax cut the property tax rate by 65%, then it would also cut the tax cap by 65%. After the cap was cut, only the voters in a school district could increase their district s maximum tax rate. The Bullock Amendment then provides that the remaining one third of income tax revenue could be spent, but only on education. State income tax payments are deductible from taxable income in calculating federal income taxes. Deductibility shifts part of the cost of public education to the federal government. The above chart shows that, although the tax would have raised $16.4 billion in 2004, the net cost to Texas taxpayers would have been only $3.9 billion. Bambara wants to show not just the inequality that was widening and separating people in the 1970 s but also how it limits the worldview of the children growing up in poverty. Bambara also shows the effect that learning about it would have on the children. This piece of fiction tells the story of a group of children being shown an unfortunate truth about their world by a more knowledgeable teacher. She went from a poor upbringing to one of relative wealth, therefore, she has seen both worlds and wants to show what that experience was first like. Her parents were able to give her trips and exposure to the world outside of her neighborhood much like Miss Moore does in the story. Bambara tackles two groups with this story, one is the wealthy white community. She wants them to see what the inequality is doing to the poor black community. She shows how economic discrimination by the wealthy white community is still having a major negative impact. The other group she is writing to is the poor black community as she tries to show them that they cannot stop at changing the laws. They must fight to be equal economically with equitable wealth distribution and have a wider worldview than just a few city blocks. Bambara argues that many people never leave their areas of familiarity. That the children would live their lives trapped in the same cycles of poor neighborhoods and work if they are not exposed to the world outside of it. Bambara also argues that the wealthy would never see the poverty of the poor if they are not brought out to their comfort zones. The lesson is a fictional short story. The ultrasound technician job description may call for a tech to be on their feet for a majority of the day; working in darkened rooms while performing their scan. Every appointment is different from the last and these sessions can last anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour. When finished, the reports are then sent to a radiologist for review and diagnosis. Like many healthcare jobs, working so closely with a physician or surgeon under stressful circumstances can become a little overwhelming. This is why proper training comes in hand. However, these diversions have changed throughout the involvement and advancement of technology. The term mobile is now fused with transportation ad communication. Mobile phones and mobile cars might have the same expression but do not mix well together. The development of time absorbing apps and games has come a long way in its process of just being temporarily useful programs. Each time these utilities enhance their abilities; the danger rises therefore being a contributor to becoming an even greater temptation (Bernstein Bernstein 1). The device at hand could be a weapon if not an accomplice of an accident. Interacting with any hand held gadget, increases the risk of involving death to any individual, including one self s, life. According to Caroline Alexander s article The Voyage of the James Caird the crew of the James Caird needed mental strength to survive the dangerous journey. In the article she writes Worsley, despite the rank discomfort, was in his element. He was conscious of being in the midst of a great adventure which had been his life s ambition (Alexander 185). Here it is shown that despite the physical challenges Worsley was still able to maintain his mental strength which kept him going. Similar to the crew of the James Caird Sherpas that climb Mt. In the article The Value of the Sherpa Life by Grayson Schaffer it states And perhaps most significantly, the amount of time that Sherpas spend making laps through the deadly Khumbu Icefall and up the Lhotse Face (Schaffer 218). Schaffer explains that despite the physically grueling laps their mental strength which kept them going was maintained. Similar to the Sherpas of Mt. • 20. Genre Theory Paper Genre theory is used in the study of films in order to categorize films. Genre are dependent on different factors such as who the director is, story line, and audience expectations (Azia, n.d). Genres are types or categories and genre films that are usually recognizable as part of a certain genre (Goodykoontz, B., Jacobs, 2014, section 4.1). To better understand genre there are several examples to look at. When watching a fantasy film we know that within the movie we will expect to see unreal, magical, or impossible situations, characters or settings often overlapping with various other genres (GoodyKoontz, 2014). In musical films you will see that the film mainly focuses on songs. Genres also have subgenres which are sub categories of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Instead of strictly dialogue, the narrative may from time to time be advanced by characters breaking into song. Numerous subgenres exist within the musical genre from musical comedy to musical drama to animated musicals to musical documentaries and concert films (Goodykoontz, B., Jacobs, 2014, section 4.4). A scene that helps classify Snow White and the Seven dwarfs into the animated musical genre is the scene where all the dwarfs are working hard at the jewelry mine and once work gets over they walk home in a single line singing the song heigh ho heigh ho its home from work we go as they dance and skip on their walk home from work. Another scene that illustrates a musical/fantasy genre is the scene where Snow White discovers the dwarf s cabin and with help from the animals of the forest she starts to clean the house while singing whistle while you work. I m sure we would all love if our animals could help us with chores around the house but that will most likely never happen. This is a perfect example of a movie with fantasy genre. The fantasy genre has events that occur outside the ordinary laws that operate within the universe. Magic is central to the fantasy genre and fantasy stories often involve journeys and quests like the wicked queen on a quest to kill Snow White. There are three different ways that fantasy writers set up their worlds. Some films begin and end in a fantasy world, others start in the real world and a third type of fantasy is set in the real world but elements of magic intrude upon it (Dewan, ... Total ALP is not a marker until remodeling has gone far astray in several bones that are grossly misshapen. And, because it is widely recognized that prevalence and severity of PDB is decreasing in the world population, total ALP levels remain within reference ranges far longer, making anecdotal discovery rare. Although there is no cure for PDB, early detection is vital for commencement of diet, exercise, and drug regimens that significantly mitigate debilitating symptoms and disease progression. Per Magnusson, Michael Davie and Christopher Sharp compared total ALP and three isoforms of ALP (B/I, B1, B2) of 37 patients with various stages of PDB and a control group of 66 healthy patients. Their findings revealed that the B2 isoform of ALP is increased in asymptomatic PDB patients with a validity of 80% on a characteristic comparison curve of true postive to false positive ratios. • 29. Erik Erikson s Explanation Of Psychosocial Development Erik Erikson s explanation of psychosocial development is one of the best known theories of personality in psychology. The term psychosocial development is the pattern of change in emotions, personality and social relationship ( A Child s World 10). Erikson believed that the achievements and failures of earlier stages influence later stages, whereas later stages change and transform earlier ones. His theory shows the impact on social relationships throughout one s entire life. Each individual goes through eight developmental stages, and each stage is characterized by a different crisis in personality a major psychosocial theme that is above all important at that time but will remain an issue to some degree throughout the rest of life ( A Child s World). To Erikson, the sequence of the stages are set by nature. It is within the set limits that nurture works its ways ( Erikson s Stages of Development ). Developmental scientists study three major domains, or aspects, of the self: physical, cognitive, and psychosocial. Growth of the body and brain, sensory capacities, motor skills, and health are parts of physical development. Learning, attention, memory, language, thinking, reasoning, and creativity make up cognitive development. Emotions, personality, and social relationships are aspects of psychosocial development ( Experience Human Development ). Each aspect of development affects the others.
