Cultural And Regional Awareness Through All Units
According to the Chief of Staff of the Army, GEN Ray Odierno our country s most recent set of
conflicts have made it clear the Army needs to expand their levels of cultural and regional awareness
through all units. (Odierno 2012) The Army has decided to answer this problem by creating a
regionally aligning forces (RAF) strategy to focus units on a particular geographic region. Brigades,
Divisions, Corps, and support forces will focus on a specific region within their normal training
program and focus their unit s scope with cultural training and language familiarization. This redesign
will theoretically provide increased support to the Combatant Commands and capitalize on the current

(U.S. Army 2014) With units that have experience in advising, training and partnering with foreign
forces through a decade plus at war, the RAF concept capitalizes on current readiness. The 2nd
Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division (2BCT, 1AD) from Fort Polk was one of the first units to
align, working through U.S. Army Africa Command to establish an East Africa Response Force. The
alignment allowed the leaders to focus their training and change the training paradigm. With help from
the U.S. Army Military Intelligence Center of Excellence of Fort Huachuca, Ariz., as well as the
NATO School Oberammergau in Germany the unit focused on cultural, geopolitical, regional conflicts
unique to the African continent and their culture and vastly different from their Iraq and Afghanistan
experience. (Villa 2014)
The Total Force partnership will be vastly more important in countries that have existing relationships
through the National Guard State Partnership Program (SPP). The SPP is a Department of Defense
(DoD) security cooperation program created in 1991, that matches state National Guards with foreign
countries to conduct joint activities including visits between senior military leaders and knowledge
sharing in areas such as disaster management that further U.S.

Lane Cove National Park Case Study
Reflection
The negotiation executed discussed the scenario of the Lane Cove National Park access road in North
Ryde. Three parties were involved; the council, a privately operated cemetery and Lane Cove National
Park. In this scenario, a council owned local road lead down the hill from its junction with a main
RMS owned road to the entrance of Lane Cove National Park. A heavy real station is located at the top
of the hill, which means that the section of the council road towards the top is now used by train
commuters as a car park. Half way down the hill is a large cemetery located. The road is wide and
well maintained down to this cemetery, after passing the road narrows and is in poor shape, without a
footpath. The national park is concerned, that in case of a bush fire, public safety cannot be guaranteed
if the road is not widened; in addition, storm water runs from the cemetery towards the park,
damaging its ecology. Lane Cove is keen to improve the situation by widening the road section,
control the parking and address water pollution. To do so, cooperation from the other parties is
necessary. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, by focusing on the aim of finding out as much information as possible during the first
meeting , a mutual goal was established quickly, namely: public safety. Since the owners of the
cemetery deny responsibility for the storm water pollution, a third party was invited to provide
objective knowledge about the situation. The costs for this expert were equally shared between the
three parties. Although some might argue this is fairly accommodating, it provides factual ground for
further negotiations, and helps work towards the shared

Comprehensive School Counseling Program Evaluation Essay
In order to provide a comprehensive school counseling program (CSCP) that meets the unique needs
of Ocean Elementary School, the school counselor must understand the needs of the school.
Therefore, conducting a needs assessment can help a new school counselor to evaluate the CSCP in
order to plan, implement, and improve the effectiveness of the program (Astramovich Coker, 2007).
Additionally, utilizing the accountability bridge counseling program evaluation model, a continuous
evaluation cycle helps to improve services based on stakeholder feedback, the needs of those served,
and outcomes (Astramovich Coker, 2007). Within this model, a needs assessment must be conducted
in order to plan and develop services that address the needs of the students (Astramovich Coker,
2007). Thus, by utilizing assessment questionnaires, the school counselor can gather information from
the diverse population of students, parents, teachers, and administrator to determine how the CSCP
can best support all students needs (American School Counselor Association [ASCA], 2012).
Additionally, the use of other data, such as observations, standardized test scores, absentee rates, and
student referrals can support the feedback received on the questionnaires. Based on the data, the
school counselor can evaluate the school counseling program in order to improve the program in the
domain areas of academic, social/emotional, and career development. Thus, within the accountability

Mayan Ruins Research Paper
The Mayan ruins have always been a fascinating ancient structure to me. My family is from
Guatemala so every vacation, we would visit and go see the temples. The history contained in these
pyramids are incredible and how they were built are still a mystery because with the technology we
have today, it would still be a difficult structure to build.
In the Mayan city of Tikal, the Great Plaza, which conquered the Guatemalan jungle, was one of the
most impressive temples. Like other major Mayan centers of the classical period, it was both a densely
populated city and a ceremonial religious center for surrounding villages. Tikal is the most famous
Mayan complex and city and is home to the highest pyramid, Temple IV of the Bicephalon Serpent
with more than 65 meters in height. According to an article written by David Hoffman 4 Must Visit

Victor Frankenstein Thirst for Knowledge
At the beginning of life, humans are exposed to the outside world with an open and blank mind. A
newborn has no knowledge, no concerns or worries and it only seeks to fulfill its main necessities.
Surrounded by the outside world one lives through many experiences where knowledge is accepted.
Encountering other human beings reflects upon one s perception and brings about ones self decisions.
Mary Shelley s novel, Frankenstein, written in 1816, demonstrates through characters that an
obsessive desire for more knowledge may ruin ones life.
The desire of extensive knowledge is first seen through Victor Frankenstein. At the beginning of the
novel, a young boy named Victor grows up in Geneva deeply smitten with the thirst for knowledge
(20). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No mortal could support the horror of that countenance. A mummy again endued with animation could
not be so hideous as that wretch. I had gazed on him while unfinished; he was ugly then, but when
those muscles and joints were rendered capable of motion, it became a thing such as even Dante could
not have conceived. (37) The monster continues to follow Victor throughout his life as he seeks
revenge for abandoning him as a young child.
The idea of pursuing knowledge clouded Victor s mind and when his creature is born he is shocked to
discover that what he has created is far off his own expectations. Not only did the monster destroy his
expectations of developing a creature that went beyond human knowledge, but it also affected his life,
dignity, and fears. Victor himself admits to his own mistake when he says, The different accidents of
life are not so changeable as the feelings of human nature...but now that I had finished, the beauty of
the dream vanished, and breathless honor and disgust filled my heart (36). Victor Frankenstein realizes
what his obsession with pursuing an extensive amount of knowledge has brought him. His destiny to
achieve the impossible with no regard for anyone or anything but himself shows that he is blinded by
knowledge when creating the monster and is incapable to foresee the outcome of his creation. Victor s
goal was meant to improve and help humanity, but instead it leads to

The First Week Of School
The first week of school was finally coming to an end and she had a wonderful idea. Each day after

study. At least, that s what she had believed. With his help, homework had become less time
consuming than a thought. It was completed within minutes shortly after they had arrived at the mall
for their part time job and an overall subject review during each break. Each exam they had taken that
day was so simple that she was shocked that it seemed as if they had not prepared for any of the test at
all. She had never finished any exam first (actually second) in her life. The squeak in delight after she
blew through the first exam wasn t called for, but it did feel good. The person who had finished first

of reassuring that she wasn t using him as a tutor, but as her actual boyfriend. Her bright idea was so
simple that she couldn t help but to smile whenever she looked in his direction after that first exam.
She laid out her plan in her mind and went over it again and again. The mall wasn t due to open until
10:00 that Saturday and they weren t expected to report to work until 9:30. She decided it would be a

Historical Analysis
Christopher Marlowe born in Canterbury, England his exact birth date is not known which why it is
based when he received his baptism in 1564. Marlowe was a poet and playwright who was very
prominent in the dramatic renaissance in the 16th century. Marlowe was a University graduate with a
bachelor s of arts. He tried to obtain his Masters, but the University gave him a hard time in doing so.
His first plays were performed in the late 1580 s and were quite successful in Elizabethan Theatre.
Near the end of his life, Marlow got in trouble with the law when he was accused of a crime; the crime
being atheism and blasphemy. He was later killed during a fight in 1593 by Ingram Frizer when he
stabbed him in the forehead. Marlowe was a very young playwright for his time. Because he died at
age 29, his literary career lasted less than six years. Dr. Faustus was his most popular written work
which ensured his legacy for centuries to come. His influences and inspirations for the tragedy of
Faustus were based on older German legends. The origin of Faustus came from a Latin term which
meant fortunate or lucky. It was also rumored that Faustus was the brother in law to the devil. The
play was written in blank verse and pros, which became popular by Marlow himself. Marlow s work is
the first time the tale was told in play form because it took the legend and used it to it

Employee Assistance Programs
Implementing Employee Assistance Programs Introduction When the average employee hears the
words employee assistance programs , he may immediately think of medical benefits. Another
employee may think of Workers Compensation. Yet another may think of further training for possible
advancement. Although all of their conceptions are true, they are not all inclusive. There are several
parts to the vehicle called Employee Assistance Programs, or EAPs. Employee Assistance Programs
are defined by Myers as structured programs that utilize technical, administrative, and professional
human services and personnel people, on either a contractual or employment basis, to meet the needs
of troubled employees (4). EAPs are needed so that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gus could be having financial problems resulting from his excessive drinking. He may be inclined to

work performance may be significantly affected. Studies show that this type of stress on a woman in
the workforce contribute to the high rate of alcoholism among working women (Myers 7). It is
suspected that this stress contributes to higher rates of drug use as well. Also on the list of troubles are
gambling, legal problems, violence and mental illness. 80 to 100 million people in the United States
gamble regularly. Of that number, 6 percent ( six million people) have a problem with compulsive
gambling (Myers 6). Violence is a serious issue in the workplace. As many as 20 workers a week are
murdered (Cascio 589). On the job violence may be the effect of any number of stressors on an
employee who feels there is no other way to vent his frustration. There could be any number of
reasons, previously stated and otherwise, that might precipitate legal problems also. Legal problems
and gambling debts are two additional stressors that an otherwise outstanding employee may have to
tackle, causing him to be violent or in some other way troubled. An employee may have other issues
that may not be as obviously dangerous and alcoholism or violence.

The Devil s Arithmetic Analysis
Contradicting the glowing reviews of this novel, there are many things that can be improved about
The Devil s Arithmetic by Jane Yolen. The point of view, as it came from a twelve year old, withheld
some important points and perspectives. Although it gave an opportunity for some serious character
development, certain scenes were trivialized, such as the dinner. Hannah described her discomfort for
most of the time instead of focusing on the importance and meaning of certain moments. Because of
this, the reader doesn t have an opportunity to learn more about modern Jewish tradition, something
that seems almost obvious to have in this type of book. Although the concept of time travel and her

RELAY NETWORK OPTIMAL DESIGN OF DISTRIBUTED CONCATENATED ALAMOUTI

ABSTRACT
In this project, Based on uniquely factorable constellation pair (UFCP) and space time block code
(STBC), a novel distributed concatenated Alamouti code is devised for a one way relaying network
consisting of two end nodes with each having a single antenna and one relay node equipped with two
antennas. Allowing the terminal nodes and the relay node to transmit their own information
concurrently at the bit level, and turns the equivalent channel between the two end nodes into a
product of two Alamouti channels. thus, called UFCP concatenated Alamouti space time ... Show

However, the relay nodes in currently available relay networks with distributed STBCs just passively
forward whatever they have received from the source node to the destination without being able to
transmit their own information. The conventional strategy to realize information sharing is
accomplished by allocating orthogonal sub channels to relay such as time slots or frequency bands,
operating virtually at a packet level. This leads to significant delay. Despite the fact that this method
may work well for some networks with long coherence time, it will not be applicable to a certain of
strictly constrained delay systems. Motivated by all the aforementioned facts, in this paper, we
consider a one way relaying network consisting of two single antenna terminals and one relay having
two antennas. Our main objective is to design a new distributed STBC for the network that allows the
source node and relay node to transmit information simultaneously at the bit level. The primary idea
of achieving this goal is to properly make use of the recently developed concept of UFCP and the
Alamouti coding scheme at the relay node. The significant advantage of this novel code design is the
optimal ML detector is equivalent to a bit by bit detector.

What Is The First Cause Argument
The first cause argument is based on cause and effect, it attests that the universe must have a cause,
and that this cause is God. The first cause argument is also known as the cosmological argument. The
universe could not have come into being without something that started it. Therefore, this argument
does show that God exists. This essay will analyse the first cause argument, provide proof of why God
is shown that he exists by the first cause argument and, explore the objections and counter objections
that people have when it comes to this argument.
The first cause argument shows the existence of God through the statement that the universe must
have a cause and as result, it is impossible for there to be an infinite cycle of causes so therefore, God
exists because he is the first cause. The strength of this argument is that it indicates the need for
something in order for there to be a beginning, but why conclude that this Something is God? I
conclude that this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We have the gift of existence, and our existence was attained from our causes. If things and people
came into existence using their own nature without it being passed down to them through other people
there would be no need for a first cause but, people do not exist from their own nature which means
that they have a cause which goes to show that there is Indeed a first cause and that this cause must be
God. The universe only has beings that do not exist on their own essence, that are not eternal or
necessary, all beings in the universe need a cause. Beings that are not self explanatory, eternal or
necessary are called dependent or contingent. Furthermore, a being who is self explanatory is called a
necessary being. Dependent beings need causes. If the independent being does not exist, then all the
other dependent beings that rely on it will not exist. Dependent beings do exist and therefore an

The Resilience Center Lists The Definition Of Resiliency
The Resiliency Center lists the definition of Resiliency as:
Able to recover quickly from misfortune; able to return to original form after being bent, compressed,
or stretched out of shape. A human ability to recover quickly from disruptive change, or misfortune
without being overwhelmed or acting in dysfunctional or harmful ways. As in Our team showed great
resilience, or Our team had good resiliency. (n.d.)
There are numerous points of view on resiliency, as non‑governmental associations (NGOs) perceive
that individuals capacity to better withstand and recuperate from calamities is basic to maintaining
improvement. NGOs, contributors and worldwide reaction groups are attempting to characterize
resiliency in their terms. CRS characterizes resiliency as the capacity of people, communities and
institutions to advance integral human development in the face of shocks, cycles and trends (2014,
p.2). The vulnerable individuals themselves best characterize strength and resiliency. What vulnerable
individuals accept helps most to their versatility limit is discriminating to current dialogs on resiliency.
Contributors and NGOs may have their own meaning of the term; however, an understanding of what
it really means to individuals looking to make their community resilient is crucial to outlining
successful Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and recovery activities in development, risk reaction and
catastrophe recuperation programs (CRS, 2014). The danger of not utilizing the

Usability and Web Accessibility
Assistive devices and technologies come in a wide assortment each designed to address specific
limitations and help those with those limitations lead a normal or close to normal lifestyle. These
devices can help address problems with hearing loss, or voice, speech, or language based
communications. A great number of devices and technologies are now available to help those with
limitations access and use the internet in ways never before possible.
Understanding Web Usability
In order for a website to effectively deliver content to the user, several key factors must be present.
First, the website must be available and accessible. Availability is a straight forward concept where the
website must be reachable and functioning. The accessibility of a website is a bit more of a
complicated issue. According to the Web Accessibility Initiative, Web accessibility means that people
with disabilities can use the web. More specifically, Web accessibility means that people with
disabilities can perceive, understand, navigate, and interact with the Web and that they can contribute
to the Web (Henry, 2005).
Next, a website must have clarity. Clarity refers to a websites ability to provide visitors with the
information they are looking for. This can be accomplished by designing the website with simplicity,

A Tale Of Two Cities By Charles Dickens Literary Analysis
The classic novel, A Tale of Two Cities, by Charles Dickens, comments both on the absurd abuse of
power by French nobility, and the dangerous dogmatic passion of French Revolutionaries. The novel
is an account of the days in France and Britain leading up the notorious Reign of Terror during the
French Revolution. Dickens tells the story through the experience of a multitude of characters,
including a Frenchman who disowns his claim to the aristocracy, Charles Darnay, a young woman and
her father, Lucie and Doctor Alexander Manette, and a cold hearted revolutionary, Madame Defarge.
The twists and turns of their lives illustrate the mounting tensions between the peasantry and the
French aristocracy and expose many injustices. All of their lives become entangled in the mess of the
revolution, some willingly, but many by unfortunate chance. Dickens demonstrates an urgent need for
social change in France against the tyranny of the aristocracy while also highlighting the improper and
wrongful behavior of the revolutionaries. The peasants had justification for frustration turned
insurgency against the French aristocracy, however, their extreme actions left little room for real
change and ultimately backfired, creating a society of violence and anarchy. Examples of Dickens
disapproval of the peasant s drastic behavior is evident through Madame Defarge s character and the
actions of the French nobility. Dickens is commentating on his disdain for extreme views and conduct,

I Am A Very Indecisive Person
I am a very indecisive person, especially when it comes to what career I want to have in the future.
However, I do know that I want to further my education. Throughout my life, I have always had
numerous people as role models such as my father, and my older sister. I strive to be as hardworking
as them. As a person part of the minority, being a first generation college student, having faced
financial situations, and dealing with people who believe I will not succeed gives me motivation to
finish my bachelor s degree. I decided to attend CSU Stanislaus because it was far away from home
and they offered the most amount of financial aid. I have always depended on my family for help and
wanted to learn what independence was and prove to myself that I can do this on my own. Gardner s
article explains that college will lead to earn more money, less erratic job history, gain self esteem and
self confidence. This is what I hope to get when I graduate college and it motivates me to want to
finish my bachelor degree at Stanislaus State. I want a career that will get me involved in the
community and help motivate people to be successful. I understand that many face with struggles in
their lives, but I realized that the only way that I would be able to help is to see how the struggles
came to be. Sociology was a major I became interested in because I would learn about the interactions
and the way we live in society.

Understanding The Consciousness Of The People Of London At...
Tracking the culture of a society has always proven to be a challenge. Historians and archeologists
may study artifacts, books, poetry, among other cultural legacies in an attempt to understand the
beliefs and lives of previous generations. However, this has a certain level of inaccuracy towards the
beliefs of the average person in that society. To speak to that point, I wish to introduce Gilbert and
Sullivan. Gilbert and Sullivan were a pair of opera writers operating in England between 1871 and
1896. Their operas were so immensely popular with the British public that the world s first building lit
entire by lightbulbs, the Savoy Theater, was built for the purpose of housing the premiers of their
operas. It is through this immense popularity with the common people that we can begin to understand
the consciousness of the people of London at the time. In this case, Gilbert and Sullivan s opera,
Utopia Limited, can provide us with a clear picture of the Victorian view on a woman s place in
sports, and information on their beliefs on sports in general.
Sports throughout the Victorian age can be used as a telescope to examine a wide range of issues.
Whether it s the role of women, thoughts on prudery, or a manifestation of romanticism within society,
there is much to learn from sports. This is why Gilbert and Sullivan s second to last Opera, Utopia
Limited, should pique the interest of any sports historian. Throughout Utopia Limited, W.S. Gilbert
outlines the characteristics

Definition Of True Beauty Essay
Tyler Bennett Professor Chad Brodbeck ENC 1101 Composition 1 31 October 2017 True Beauty
When asked to describe beauty, one s initial response is to comment on physical attributes such as
hair, eyes, and facial structure. Rarely will the answer entail traits such as selflessness and
intelligence. Merriam Webster defines beauty as the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or
thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit. Inner and outer beauty
stimulates the mind in some way. Many believe physical attributes define beauty, yet one cannot
exemplify true beauty without the harmony of personality, interaction, and physical attributes.
Architecturally speaking, Vitruvius emphasizes that Order is the balanced adjustment of the details of
the work separately, and as to the whole, the arrangement of the proportion with a view to a
symmetrical result (Vitruvius 26 27). Vitruvius was a Roman architect who wrote the book De
architectura, which many architects used for their own work in Rome. As seen in his works, symmetry
appears often. Another philosopher, who goes by the name of Plotinus, asserts that: Almost everyone
declares that the symmetry of parts towards each other and towards a whole, with, besides, a certain
charm of colour, constitutes the beauty recognized by the eye, that in visible things, as indeed in all
else, universally, the beautiful thing is essentially symmetrical, patterned. (Plotinus 21 [Ennead 1.6])

room, surrounded by my stuffed animals (or students, as I saw them) and forcing my younger brother

The program was designed to help at risk kids stay on track by connecting with resources from the

so during the day I was attending the community college to try and start pursuing my goal. In early
2006 I was knocked off track. My little brother was killed in a car accident at the age of 17. My world
went pretty dark for a while, and I dropped out of college and left my jobs. After a few months of deep
grieving, I got on my feet and got a job making more money as a receptionist for a window company.
I pushed my passion to the back of my brain and put the money first. I was all determined to have a
grown up job and be on my own. This meant I couldn t afford classes, or books. I also had to have a

Texas Anti Marijuana Laws Should Be Banned
Texas has had a long history of being a state that marijuana is smuggled into across the border with
Mexico. The anti marijuana laws in Texas are some of the strictest in the United States with high fines
and long prison sentences. Currently under Texas laws the possession of 2oz or less can result in 180
days in jail and or a fine up to $2000 dollars, as well as your license being suspended for 12 months.
So why does Texas take a such a harsh stance against marijuana? Why does Texas keep throwing
money on fighting a war on marijuana? How many more of our fellow Texans are going to have their
lives ruined over using a plant that grows out of the ground. Through research I will show and explain
how the current aggressive laws and policy against marijuana in Texas effects not only the users, but
every Texan. The beginning of Texas anti marijuana laws can be traced back to the city of El Paso
(Drug Policy ORG). Prior to 1914 Texas had no laws concerning the usage or sale of the plant, but
then the stories of people using marijuana in Mexico and terrorizing people made their way to El Paso
and the Deputy Sheriff Stanley Good. Deputy Good made it a personal mission of his to get El Paso to
make the substance illegal. The whole basis of his argument is that immigrants from Mexico will
come to the Untied States and use the drug and terrorize El Paso. At the time marijuana use was
prevalent in the border towns by both Americans and Mexicans but nobody gave it any

The Coming Of Age In The Dawnland Summary
Based on most ethnic principles and values in early settlers, they were alike, but in a unique way they
were different. In both primary and secondary sources, each author has the same type of writing style.
In The Coming of Age in the Dawnland , Charles C. Mann is referring to analyzation by introducing
the readers to Tisquantum the friendly Indian and the experiences of traveling to Dawnland and
interacting with the Native Americans. Another primary source, Of Plymouth Plantation , written by
William Bradford, was an American Literature based story to inform the reader about the travels and
beliefs of the Puritans and the Pilgrims. Last source is the, Suppressed Speech Of Wamsutta (Frank
B.) James, Wampanoag . This speech is also to inform the reader about what the Wampanoags went
through and what kind of lifestyle they were living from one of their own men s perspective. Each of
these villages, families, and individuals all had to go through the same struggles, hardships, and brutal
conditions. So, let s get into what beliefs, ways, and religions each one of these groups had to go

sequential gearboxes Essay
Running Head: SEQUENTIAL GEARBOXES
Abstract
This paper will discuss the technology of sequential gearboxes. Relatively new technology, the
sequential gearbox has been applied mostly in ATV s, motorcycles, and the automobile racing
industry. Recently this technology has begun to reach passenger cars. There are three main points of
discussion; the workings of a manual transmission, how a sequential gearbox works and the
advantages of them, and the applications of it today. The sequential gearbox is extremely
revolutionary and is only used in high end passenger cars, but maybe one day it will be a luxury the
majority of the population will be able to experience.

How Sequential Gearboxes Work
In a regular manual transmission there are three forks controlled by three rods that are engaged by the
shift lever by the driver. The normal H pattern that the driver sees on top of the shifter enables him or
her to move the shift lever between the control rods for the three forks and thus moving the rods back
and forth. When all of these aspects are combined a successful shift is accomplished.
Transmissions on ATV s or motorcycles using sequential gearboxes have a set of gear selection forks
that move collars, which engage the gears just like on regular manual transmissions. The gearshift
lever is moved up and down by the foot and the transmission is moved from gear to gear. When the
gearshift lever is moved by the foot, a ratcheting drum is rotated. This ratcheting drum has grooves cut
into the side of it. The grooves on the ratcheting drum will direct the control rods when the drum is
away from the transmission s gears. Moving the gear selector fork is the most common use of the
grooves. With this in mind, whenever the lever is moved up or down, the drum is rotated one
increment. The rotation of the drum allows for movement of the rods or forks as set by the grooves in
the drum and the gears are then changed (Brain, n.d.). The gear shifting sequence can only be done in
order; this means that no gears can be

Comparing Shakespeare s Midsummer Night s Dream, Pride...
Compare and contrast the presentation of love and marriage in A Midsummer Night s Dream, Pride
and Prejudice and The Great Gatsby.
The main theme which brings A Midsummer Night s Dream, Pride and Prejudice and The Great
Gatsby together is the idea of how love and marriage is presented. Shakespeare, F. Scott Fitzgerald
and Austen all portray love and marriage as being two separate issues, which rarely intertwine. The
different contexts in which these texts are written have all had a huge impact on the way in which love
and marriage is portrayed. The Great Gatsby was set in the roaring twenties, a time where people
enjoyed wealth and artistic innovation. Pride and Prejudice was set in the early 19th century, a time
when wealth and marriage were hugely important. A Midsummer Night s Dream was written between
1590 and 1596, which is a comedic, light hearted play and focuses on marriage.
In the novel Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, marriage is a significant issue for almost every single
character that we are introduced to. In the year 1813, when the novel was first published, it was
natural for people to wed due to status and practicality instead of for true love. The very first line of
the novel is the perfect introduction to this It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in
possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife . Indeed, in 1813 marriage was seen as a
financial transaction and women were seen as a commodity who had to be wed in order

In the United States, it is an unacceptable act. States are allowed to enact laws permitting assisted
suicide. A solution to this problem is to create a law to make it legal. If anyone had a problem with this
law, they can go to court to talk about it. Court will only try to convince them of the benefits of
Assisted Suicide. Another solution is to talk live on TV and explain the benefits of this. The
government can convince the country of everything good to it. They will help this issue by explaining
to the country how it really works. Only a few places Assisted Suicide is legal. Oregon was the first
state to permit Assisted Suicide. In 1991, the citizens of Oregon voted to legalize a highly
controversial practice called physician assisted suicide in their state. In 1994, Oregon signed the Death

protect the vulnerable, weak, sick, elderly, and others from being taken advantage of. In this case,
physicians may not be forced to participate in the Death with Dignity Act. In 1997, President William

Strategic Challenges Between Samsung And Eskom
Introduction
Strategic management plays a vital role in most organisations as it consists of formulating and
implementing the company s goals; this is done by taking into account the available resources and
doing an analysis of the internal and external environment (Takalkar, 2014). The author of this essay
will be identifying and analysing a significant strategic challenge that was faced by a local and global
entity from two different industries, furthermore an external and internal analysis will be given. Lastly
the author will address how the two organisations were able to overcome the strategic challenge in
order to strengthen the strategic positions of the organisations. The local entity that was chosen is
Eskom which falls part of the energy industry and for the global entity Samsung was chosen as it falls
part of the technology industry. The differences found between Samsung and Eskom are that Samsung
provides products that can be seen as a want for its consumers whereas Eskom provides a service
which is a need for the general public. A similarity that can be found between the two entities is that
both these companies are leading players within the industry they belong to. The reason these two

as the Medupi delay caused by poor decision making. Furthermore Eskom has had labour issues like

Rock N Roll Counterculture
Rock n roll and punk have often been pitted against each other to determine which is the superior
genre of music. Persons of the respective parties can be found in groups debating whether or not punk
or rock n roll is the superior genre; most subscribers to these genres become quick masters of all
things punk or rock n roll. Both will sit around with various alcoholic beverages strewn about, naming
bands in quick succession and ticking them off on their fingers as if doing so adds some sort of
validity to their argument. To survive in such a paramount argument one must learn the lingo of each
subculture, including but not limited to the history, surrounding culture and style, and the content of a

It is argued over whether rock n roll is a counterculture or not because it was widely popular amongst
children and adults alike at it s prime and ultimately did not present any radically different ideas, but
what can t be argued is rock n roll s seniority and perfected tone. While there is much to be said about
the bands that proudly wear the label punk or rock n roll as a button on their acid washed jean vests,
something has to be said for the history and subculture that defines each respective genre. Punk refutes
social attitudes that have been perpetuated through willful ignorance of human nature, and rock n roll
is just a trend that people followed because of it s attractive ideal. If it were not for punk, voices as
strong and influential as Billie Joe Armstrong or Sid Vicious would never had made an impact on
millions of angry citizens who were surfeited of systematic oppression and capitalistic ideals.
Counterculture has always been political and driven by the underground, whether it be the Lolita girls
of Japan, the Kontrkul tura movement in Russia, the Nambassa lifestyle in New Zealand, or the
Basque Radical Rock movement in Spain, but nothing quite compares to the raw grit and blood that
goes into being punk, the ultimately universal counterculture. At it s heart punk is anti society and anti
normalcy. Because human nature yearns for acceptance, and punk objects such assimilation, it is the

  • 2. Cultural And Regional Awareness Through All Units According to the Chief of Staff of the Army, GEN Ray Odierno our country s most recent set of conflicts have made it clear the Army needs to expand their levels of cultural and regional awareness through all units. (Odierno 2012) The Army has decided to answer this problem by creating a regionally aligning forces (RAF) strategy to focus units on a particular geographic region. Brigades, Divisions, Corps, and support forces will focus on a specific region within their normal training program and focus their unit s scope with cultural training and language familiarization. This redesign will theoretically provide increased support to the Combatant Commands and capitalize on the current Total Force concept to team up the Active, Guard and ... (U.S. Army 2014) With units that have experience in advising, training and partnering with foreign forces through a decade plus at war, the RAF concept capitalizes on current readiness. The 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division (2BCT, 1AD) from Fort Polk was one of the first units to align, working through U.S. Army Africa Command to establish an East Africa Response Force. The alignment allowed the leaders to focus their training and change the training paradigm. With help from the U.S. Army Military Intelligence Center of Excellence of Fort Huachuca, Ariz., as well as the NATO School Oberammergau in Germany the unit focused on cultural, geopolitical, regional conflicts unique to the African continent and their culture and vastly different from their Iraq and Afghanistan experience. (Villa 2014) The Total Force partnership will be vastly more important in countries that have existing relationships through the National Guard State Partnership Program (SPP). • 3. Lane Cove National Park Case Study Reflection The negotiation executed discussed the scenario of the Lane Cove National Park access road in North Ryde. Three parties were involved; the council, a privately operated cemetery and Lane Cove National Park. In this scenario, a council owned local road lead down the hill from its junction with a main RMS owned road to the entrance of Lane Cove National Park. A heavy real station is located at the top of the hill, which means that the section of the council road towards the top is now used by train commuters as a car park. Half way down the hill is a large cemetery located. The road is wide and well maintained down to this cemetery, after passing the road narrows and is in poor shape, without a footpath. The national park is concerned, that in case of a bush fire, public safety cannot be guaranteed if the road is not widened; in addition, storm water runs from the cemetery towards the park, damaging its ecology. Lane Cove is keen to improve the situation by widening the road section, control the parking and address water pollution. To do so, cooperation from the other parties is necessary. ... Since the owners of the cemetery deny responsibility for the storm water pollution, a third party was invited to provide objective knowledge about the situation. The costs for this expert were equally shared between the three parties. • 4. Comprehensive School Counseling Program Evaluation Essay In order to provide a comprehensive school counseling program (CSCP) that meets the unique needs of Ocean Elementary School, the school counselor must understand the needs of the school. Therefore, conducting a needs assessment can help a new school counselor to evaluate the CSCP in order to plan, implement, and improve the effectiveness of the program (Astramovich Coker, 2007). Additionally, utilizing the accountability bridge counseling program evaluation model, a continuous evaluation cycle helps to improve services based on stakeholder feedback, the needs of those served, and outcomes (Astramovich Coker, 2007). Within this model, a needs assessment must be conducted in order to plan and develop services that address the needs of the students (Astramovich Coker, 2007). Thus, by utilizing assessment questionnaires, the school counselor can gather information from the diverse population of students, parents, teachers, and administrator to determine how the CSCP can best support all students needs (American School Counselor Association [ASCA], 2012). Additionally, the use of other data, such as observations, standardized test scores, absentee rates, and student referrals can support the feedback received on the questionnaires. Based on the data, the school counselor can evaluate the school counseling program in order to improve the program in the domain areas of academic, social/emotional, and career development. • 6. Mayan Ruins Research Paper The Mayan ruins have always been a fascinating ancient structure to me. My family is from Guatemala so every vacation, we would visit and go see the temples. The history contained in these pyramids are incredible and how they were built are still a mystery because with the technology we have today, it would still be a difficult structure to build. In the Mayan city of Tikal, the Great Plaza, which conquered the Guatemalan jungle, was one of the most impressive temples. Like other major Mayan centers of the classical period, it was both a densely populated city and a ceremonial religious center for surrounding villages. Tikal is the most famous Mayan complex and city and is home to the highest pyramid, Temple IV of the Bicephalon Serpent with more than 65 meters in height. • 8. Victor Frankenstein Thirst for Knowledge At the beginning of life, humans are exposed to the outside world with an open and blank mind. A newborn has no knowledge, no concerns or worries and it only seeks to fulfill its main necessities. Surrounded by the outside world one lives through many experiences where knowledge is accepted. Encountering other human beings reflects upon one s perception and brings about ones self decisions. Mary Shelley s novel, Frankenstein, written in 1816, demonstrates through characters that an obsessive desire for more knowledge may ruin ones life. The desire of extensive knowledge is first seen through Victor Frankenstein. No mortal could support the horror of that countenance. A mummy again endued with animation could not be so hideous as that wretch. I had gazed on him while unfinished; he was ugly then, but when those muscles and joints were rendered capable of motion, it became a thing such as even Dante could not have conceived. (37) The monster continues to follow Victor throughout his life as he seeks revenge for abandoning him as a young child. The idea of pursuing knowledge clouded Victor s mind and when his creature is born he is shocked to discover that what he has created is far off his own expectations. Not only did the monster destroy his expectations of developing a creature that went beyond human knowledge, but it also affected his life, dignity, and fears. Victor himself admits to his own mistake when he says, The different accidents of life are not so changeable as the feelings of human nature...but now that I had finished, the beauty of the dream vanished, and breathless honor and disgust filled my heart (36). Victor Frankenstein realizes what his obsession with pursuing an extensive amount of knowledge has brought him. Christopher Faustus Analysis Briseida Garcia Independent Study Theatre History 2 Dr. Terry Donovan Smith November 2, 2017 Historical Analysis Christopher Marlowe born in Canterbury, England his exact birth date is not known which why it is based when he received his baptism in 1564. Marlowe was a poet and playwright who was very prominent in the dramatic renaissance in the 16th century. Marlowe was a University graduate with a bachelor s of arts. He tried to obtain his Masters, but the University gave him a hard time in doing so. His first plays were performed in the late 1580 s and were quite successful in Elizabethan Theatre. Near the end of his life, Marlow got in trouble with the law when he was accused of a crime; the crime being atheism and blasphemy. He was later killed during a fight in 1593 by Ingram Frizer when he stabbed him in the forehead. Marlowe was a very young playwright for his time. Because he died at age 29, his literary career lasted less than six years. Dr. Faustus was his most popular written work which ensured his legacy for centuries to come. His influences and inspirations for the tragedy of Faustus were based on older German legends. The origin of Faustus came from a Latin term which meant fortunate or lucky. It was also rumored that Faustus was the brother in law to the devil. The play was written in blank verse and pros, which became popular by Marlow himself. Employee Assistance Programs Implementing Employee Assistance Programs Introduction When the average employee hears the words employee assistance programs , he may immediately think of medical benefits. Another employee may think of Workers Compensation. Yet another may think of further training for possible advancement. Although all of their conceptions are true, they are not all inclusive. There are several parts to the vehicle called Employee Assistance Programs, or EAPs. Studies show that this type of stress on a woman in the workforce contribute to the high rate of alcoholism among working women (Myers 7). It is suspected that this stress contributes to higher rates of drug use as well. Also on the list of troubles are gambling, legal problems, violence and mental illness. 80 to 100 million people in the United States gamble regularly. Of that number, 6 percent ( six million people) have a problem with compulsive gambling (Myers 6). Violence is a serious issue in the workplace. As many as 20 workers a week are murdered (Cascio 589). On the job violence may be the effect of any number of stressors on an employee who feels there is no other way to vent his frustration. There could be any number of reasons, previously stated and otherwise, that might precipitate legal problems also. Legal problems and gambling debts are two additional stressors that an otherwise outstanding employee may have to tackle, causing him to be violent or in some other way troubled. The point of view, as it came from a twelve year old, withheld some important points and perspectives. Although it gave an opportunity for some serious character development, certain scenes were trivialized, such as the dinner. Hannah described her discomfort for most of the time instead of focusing on the importance and meaning of certain moments. Because of this, the reader doesn t have an opportunity to learn more about modern Jewish tradition, something that seems almost obvious to have in this type of book. RELAY NETWORK OPTIMAL DESIGN OF DISTRIBUTED CONCATENATED ALAMOUTI CODES Yuchen Cao Professor: Yanwu Ding Department of EECS, Wichita State University, KS, US ABSTRACT In this project, Based on uniquely factorable constellation pair (UFCP) and space time block code (STBC), a novel distributed concatenated Alamouti code is devised for a one way relaying network consisting of two end nodes with each having a single antenna and one relay node equipped with two antennas. Allowing the terminal nodes and the relay node to transmit their own information concurrently at the bit level, and turns the equivalent channel between the two end nodes into a product of two Alamouti channels. thus, called UFCP concatenated Alamouti space time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the relay nodes in currently available relay networks with distributed STBCs just passively forward whatever they have received from the source node to the destination without being able to transmit their own information. The conventional strategy to realize information sharing is accomplished by allocating orthogonal sub channels to relay such as time slots or frequency bands, operating virtually at a packet level. This leads to significant delay. Despite the fact that this method may work well for some networks with long coherence time, it will not be applicable to a certain of strictly constrained delay systems. Motivated by all the aforementioned facts, in this paper, we consider a one way relaying network consisting of two single antenna terminals and one relay having two antennas. Our main objective is to design a new distributed STBC for the network that allows the source node and relay node to transmit information simultaneously at the bit level. The primary idea of achieving this goal is to properly make use of the recently developed concept of UFCP and the Alamouti coding scheme at the relay node. The significant advantage of this novel code design is the optimal ML detector is equivalent to a bit by bit detector. 2. • 14. What Is The First Cause Argument The first cause argument is based on cause and effect, it attests that the universe must have a cause, and that this cause is God. The first cause argument is also known as the cosmological argument. The universe could not have come into being without something that started it. Therefore, this argument does show that God exists. This essay will analyse the first cause argument, provide proof of why God is shown that he exists by the first cause argument and, explore the objections and counter objections that people have when it comes to this argument. The first cause argument shows the existence of God through the statement that the universe must have a cause and as result, it is impossible for there to be an infinite cycle of causes so therefore, God exists because he is the first cause. The strength of this argument is that it indicates the need for something in order for there to be a beginning, but why conclude that this Something is God? I conclude that this ... The universe only has beings that do not exist on their own essence, that are not eternal or necessary, all beings in the universe need a cause. Beings that are not self explanatory, eternal or necessary are called dependent or contingent. Furthermore, a being who is self explanatory is called a necessary being. Dependent beings need causes. The Resilience Center Lists The Definition Of Resiliency The Resiliency Center lists the definition of Resiliency as: Able to recover quickly from misfortune; able to return to original form after being bent, compressed, or stretched out of shape. A human ability to recover quickly from disruptive change, or misfortune without being overwhelmed or acting in dysfunctional or harmful ways. As in Our team showed great resilience, or Our team had good resiliency. (n.d.) There are numerous points of view on resiliency, as non‑governmental associations (NGOs) perceive that individuals capacity to better withstand and recuperate from calamities is basic to maintaining improvement. NGOs, contributors and worldwide reaction groups are attempting to characterize resiliency in their terms. CRS characterizes resiliency as the capacity of people, communities and institutions to advance integral human development in the face of shocks, cycles and trends (2014, p.2). The vulnerable individuals themselves best characterize strength and resiliency. What vulnerable individuals accept helps most to their versatility limit is discriminating to current dialogs on resiliency. A great number of devices and technologies are now available to help those with limitations access and use the internet in ways never before possible. Understanding Web Usability In order for a website to effectively deliver content to the user, several key factors must be present. First, the website must be available and accessible. Availability is a straight forward concept where the website must be reachable and functioning. The accessibility of a website is a bit more of a complicated issue. According to the Web Accessibility Initiative, Web accessibility means that people with disabilities can use the web. More specifically, Web accessibility means that people with disabilities can perceive, understand, navigate, and interact with the Web and that they can contribute to the Web (Henry, 2005). • 20. A Tale Of Two Cities By Charles Dickens Literary Analysis The classic novel, A Tale of Two Cities, by Charles Dickens, comments both on the absurd abuse of power by French nobility, and the dangerous dogmatic passion of French Revolutionaries. The novel is an account of the days in France and Britain leading up the notorious Reign of Terror during the French Revolution. Dickens tells the story through the experience of a multitude of characters, including a Frenchman who disowns his claim to the aristocracy, Charles Darnay, a young woman and her father, Lucie and Doctor Alexander Manette, and a cold hearted revolutionary, Madame Defarge. The twists and turns of their lives illustrate the mounting tensions between the peasantry and the French aristocracy and expose many injustices. All of their lives become entangled in the mess of the revolution, some willingly, but many by unfortunate chance. Dickens demonstrates an urgent need for social change in France against the tyranny of the aristocracy while also highlighting the improper and wrongful behavior of the revolutionaries. The peasants had justification for frustration turned insurgency against the French aristocracy, however, their extreme actions left little room for real change and ultimately backfired, creating a society of violence and anarchy. Examples of Dickens disapproval of the peasant s drastic behavior is evident through Madame Defarge s character and the actions of the French nobility. Historians and archeologists may study artifacts, books, poetry, among other cultural legacies in an attempt to understand the beliefs and lives of previous generations. However, this has a certain level of inaccuracy towards the beliefs of the average person in that society. To speak to that point, I wish to introduce Gilbert and Sullivan. Gilbert and Sullivan were a pair of opera writers operating in England between 1871 and 1896. Their operas were so immensely popular with the British public that the world s first building lit entire by lightbulbs, the Savoy Theater, was built for the purpose of housing the premiers of their operas. It is through this immense popularity with the common people that we can begin to understand the consciousness of the people of London at the time. In this case, Gilbert and Sullivan s opera, Utopia Limited, can provide us with a clear picture of the Victorian view on a woman s place in sports, and information on their beliefs on sports in general. Sports throughout the Victorian age can be used as a telescope to examine a wide range of issues. Whether it s the role of women, thoughts on prudery, or a manifestation of romanticism within society, there is much to learn from sports. This is why Gilbert and Sullivan s second to last Opera, Utopia Limited, should pique the interest of any sports historian. Throughout Utopia Limited, W.S. Gilbert outlines the characteristics ... • 25. Definition Of True Beauty Essay Tyler Bennett Professor Chad Brodbeck ENC 1101 Composition 1 31 October 2017 True Beauty When asked to describe beauty, one s initial response is to comment on physical attributes such as hair, eyes, and facial structure. Rarely will the answer entail traits such as selflessness and intelligence. Merriam Webster defines beauty as the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit. Inner and outer beauty stimulates the mind in some way. Many believe physical attributes define beauty, yet one cannot exemplify true beauty without the harmony of personality, interaction, and physical attributes. Architecturally speaking, Vitruvius emphasizes that Order is the balanced adjustment of the details of the work separately, and as to the whole, the arrangement of the proportion with a view to a symmetrical result (Vitruvius 26 27). Vitruvius was a Roman architect who wrote the book De architectura, which many architects used for their own work in Rome. As seen in his works, symmetry appears often. Another philosopher, who goes by the name of Plotinus, asserts that: Almost everyone declares that the symmetry of parts towards each other and towards a whole, with, besides, a certain charm of colour, constitutes the beauty recognized by the eye, that in visible things, as indeed in all else, universally, the beautiful thing is essentially symmetrical, patterned. There are three main points of discussion; the workings of a manual transmission, how a sequential gearbox works and the advantages of them, and the applications of it today. The sequential gearbox is extremely revolutionary and is only used in high end passenger cars, but maybe one day it will be a luxury the majority of the population will be able to experience. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How Sequential Gearboxes Work In a regular manual transmission there are three forks controlled by three rods that are engaged by the shift lever by the driver. The normal H pattern that the driver sees on top of the shifter enables him or her to move the shift lever between the control rods for the three forks and thus moving the rods back and forth. When all of these aspects are combined a successful shift is accomplished. Transmissions on ATV s or motorcycles using sequential gearboxes have a set of gear selection forks that move collars, which engage the gears just like on regular manual transmissions. The gearshift lever is moved up and down by the foot and the transmission is moved from gear to gear. When the gearshift lever is moved by the foot, a ratcheting drum is rotated. This ratcheting drum has grooves cut into the side of it. The grooves on the ratcheting drum will direct the control rods when the drum is away from the transmission s gears. Moving the gear selector fork is the most common use of the grooves. With this in mind, whenever the lever is moved up or down, the drum is rotated one increment. The rotation of the drum allows for movement of the rods or forks as set by the grooves in the drum and the gears are then changed (Brain, n.d.). The gear shifting sequence can only be done in order; this means that no gears can be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The main theme which brings A Midsummer Night s Dream, Pride and Prejudice and The Great Gatsby together is the idea of how love and marriage is presented. Shakespeare, F. Scott Fitzgerald and Austen all portray love and marriage as being two separate issues, which rarely intertwine. The different contexts in which these texts are written have all had a huge impact on the way in which love and marriage is portrayed.
