Philadelphia 76er Essay
This season, all eyes will be on the Philadelphia 76ers to see if they can take that next step towards
a potential playoff berth. In offseason, the team signed both sharpshooter J.J. Redick and big man
Amir Johnson to one year deals in free agency to pair with the youth movement led by center Joel
Embiid.
However, while all the attention is on the guys apart of the 15 man roster, the Sixers and the rest
of the NBA have an additional two roster spots, which is for two way contracts. This should help a
lot of teams this season as they can develop players through their system while getting valuable
playing time in the G League.
Earlier this summer, the Sixers used one of their two way slots on forward James Michael
McAdoo. McAdoo spent the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If that wasn t amazing enough, Pullen upped the ante in his senior year, averaging 20.2 points, 3.7
assists, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.6 steals in 32.6 minutes per game.
Just like he did as a junior, Pullen continued to show off his hot shooting stroke, knocking down
42.6 percent from the field and 38.1 percent from three point range.
Despite ending his four year career at Kansas State on a high note, Pullen would go undrafted in
2011 and began his world tour playing basketball. He started off playing hoops with Pallacanestro
Bella in Italian Lega Basket Seria A and continued to do what he does best, scoring points.
With Pallacanestro Bella, Pullen averaged 16.0 points, shot 42.1 percent from the field and 34.1
percent from three point range in 34.3 minutes per game.
Three point shooting would become Pullen s best friend overseas as he would have a ridiculous
game a few seasons later with FC Barcelona Lassa. Against C.B. Valladolid, Pullen went off for 42
points on 12 of 15 shooting from distance, leading his team to victory.
The former Kansas State Wildcat put on the clinic, showing he could knock down the three ball off
screens and off the dribble.
However, do not let the three point shot fool you. Pullen can get to the basket at will and has a nice
hang dribble, which throws his defenders off.
Last season, he played with Khimki in the VTB United league and even though his

Richard Milhous Nixon s Father s Side Of The Family
Richard Milhous Nixon came from a family with a strong heritage. His father s side of the
family were Methodists originally from Scotland. Then, in the early 1600s, they migrated to
Ireland, and to America in the 1730s. His grandfather, George Nixon, died in the Battle of
Gettysburg during the Civil war. Richard s father, Frank Nixon, was born in Ohio. His mother
died when he was only 7, and he left home when he was only 14. He went from town to town
doing odd jobs and eventually made his way to California where he met his future wife, Hannah.
Nixon s mother s side of the family was originally from Germany. They then migrated to England
around 1688, where they became Quakers. From England they migrated to Ireland, and from
Ireland to America. During the civil war they were part of the underground railroad. Richard s
mother, Hannah Milhous, was born in Indiana, but her family moved and she grew up in
Whittier, California, where she met Frank Nixon. They fell in love at first sight, and were
married four months later in June 1908. Frank converted to Quakerism. Frank and Hannah s first
son, Harold, was born in 1909, only a year after they were wed. In 1908, Frank bought a lemon
ranch in Yorba Linda, CA, and built a small house there. Then, on January 9, 1913, Richard
Milhous Nixon was born in that very house. Hannah and Frank would have three more children:
Donald (born in 1914), Arthur (born in 1918), and Edward (born in 1930). The

Auditing And Auditing Essay
Introduction Employees today can see variation as an opportunity rather than a risk. Tim M. and
Timboon F., were the ones who observed that change is truly in the present business environment
and if done properly, it can aide the growth of business. When a person changes their job
responsibilities, they need to be aware of what can be considered a reasonable change in the latitude
of their position and what can constitute termination. Sensible changes are those that do not change
the essential position. Below are examples of the unfair and fair job changes: An administrative
staff member who is inquired to undertake lunch coverage of the reception duties or learn current
system could be taken to fall within the scope of an Office Assistant. Moving the same Office
Assistant into a role which contains basic of food and beverage service could constitute a
redundancy situation. Implementing changes to an employee s job description may have risks,
occurring most often when the employee claims the following: 1)Their position is redundant.
2)They have been efficiently and effectively dismissed unfairly. They have been unfavorably treated
because of a protected characteristic. Types of Auditors and Audits Auditors are categorized by the
kind of engagement. There exist external auditors, internal auditors, government auditors, forensic
auditors, public auditors, and information technology auditors. Each of the auditors has different
roles and can perform various types of

How To Analyze Films Essay
Did you know it is more to film broadcasting than just visible viewing it? The ability to analyze
films implicates closely examination of cinematography. Cinematography refers to the process in
film of lighting a shot and achieving quality in the visual images that are captured. The
cinematographer in any filmis also known as the director of photography and may be either an
artist or a technician. It is this individual who is responsible for ensuring that the images appearing
on screen are presented to reflect the mood or the emotional effect and the style seen by the film
director, producer, and writer as essential to conveying its meaning. The director of photography

(Boggs Petrie p. 9) One aspect of eliminating impartiality is to view a film in its proper
environment. Try selecting an environment that is attractive and comfortable; preferably a theater
with modern stadium seating and the upmost quality projection and audio sound equipment. As
comfort and sound plays an immense role in how well we appreciate an experience. While viewing
films try to restrain your comments and thoughts. Take mental notes and discuss them at a later
time with others who shared your cinematic journey. As restraining your comments and thoughts
avoid passing bias and negative viewpoint onto others.
The basic approach to analyzing films as a whole is to keep in mind that when we are watching a
film we cannot freeze for analysis. We have to concentrate on the interactions of image, sound, and
motion that are present. In addition we have to accumulate impressions of the film effectiveness
and maintain some degree of objectivity and critical detachment. Viewing films more than once
usually help our analysis becomes easier. Another asset is to view in selective screen segments that
exemplify the purpose and the interrelationship. Regardless of which option: single viewing, double
viewing, or breaking the film into segments, one can virtually use the same

Article 1 The New and Improved All Slots Casino Has Arrived
When it was first established in 2002, All Slots Casino was quite literally the talk of the industry.
The (then at the time) slots exclusive casino became one of the most popular names around. After
years of success the online casino would peak in the mid 00s, but sadly it has been in a steady
decline since, that is until now. With its eyes set firmly on the top prize, All Slots Casino has made
some major improvements which could very well see it return to prominence.
An Improved User Interface

How Does Marie Curie Affect Society
Marie Curie s Effects on Today s Society Marie Curie once said I was taught that the way of
progress was neither swift nor easy. Throughout her life, she was to learn this lesson over and over
again. Despite the many obstacles standing in her way, she made incredible progress in numerous
fields and shook the world, not to mention the scientific community, to its very core. In 1896, Henri
Becquerel observed some rays of unknown nature (Madame Curie, p. 153) radiating off of uranium
salts. Marie, fascinated by these rays, took to studying this interesting phenomenon herself. As a
result of these studies, she discovered an entirely new field of science, and coined the term
Radioactivity. She also discovered two new elements, polonium and radium. This lead to the
discoveries of new elements by other scientists. The next year, 1899, AndrГ© Debierne
discovered actinium. In just a few more years, there became a global race to element discovery. It
was a fruitful pursuit, to which we owe mesothorium, radiothorium, ionium, protactinium, and radio
lead. (Madame Curie, p.194) The discoveries of these new elements led to our knowledge of
science to change in new and dramatic ways. A lot of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

unchangeable, were in a state of spontaneous evolution... (Madame Curie, p.195) This changed
everything. Textbooks were rewritten, old theories and hypotheses revised or destroyed, to fit this
new truth: atoms and elements underwent The transmutation of simple bodies, as Pierre Curie,

The Significance Of The Quilt In Alice Walker s Everyday Use
There has been plenty of time when people decided that they needed change. Can breaking the
tradition be good for you? I once experienced change when I felt the need to move from my
hometown to Hattiesburg,Ms. I eventually went back to visit, and I stumbled upon a problem. I
couldn t remember my friends name s. Furthermore, I honestly believe that Maggie, from Everyday
Use , should get the quiltthat was made by her grandma. Dee Wangero came back, and she was a
changed girl. Even though Dee wanted the quilt,Maggie should acquire the quilt because she
was willing to offer the quilt to Dee. Maggie maybe don t know the value of the quilts, but she
wants them because of grandma. Maggie said, I can member Grandma Dee without the quilts ,
according to (Walker,203). This clearly states that she could remember Grandma Dee if Dee
Wangero gets the quilts. Dee Wangero; on the other hand, says, Maggie can t appreciate these
quilts! , according to (Walker,202). Dee is stating that Maggie will not take care of the quilts.
Another reason why Maggie should get the quilt is,because she is always gracious. She doesn t
get much as Dee does. According to Everyday Use , Maggie thinks her sister had held life always

while it is true that Dee seems more caring and responsible; it doesn t take away the fact that
Maggie deserves the quilts. Maggie never gets anything that she really desires. Dee has changed,

Information Systems for Human Resources Management
Information is an essential tool for managers in the retention, recruitment, utilization and evaluation
of human resources in health services organizations. Since they support the goals and objectives of
the organization, information systems play an important role in planning and management of human
resources. These systems will serve as an important personnel administration operational programs,
including employee record keeping, budget control, compensation, benefits management, and
government reporting.

The system will become an action tool to help lead the organization toward transforming and
redesigning the health care within the community.
Human resources planning and allocation are critical links between the human resources strategy
plan and the organizational business plan. Assessing the future needs will require information about
current employee levels and their skills, along with projections of patient needs. Another
requirement are analytical tools for asking the what if questions when exploring alternative service
strategies.
The health care organization will utilize the computerization within its function to experience a
number of strategic advantages. The three advantages are;
В•HRIS enables the hospital s human resource department to make a more active role in
organizational planning. Computerization will make forecasting more timely, cost effective, and
efficient.
В•Integration and storage in a single database all of the human resources information
В•HRIS will accelerate the process of comparing costs and benefits of human resources activities.
The need for analysis, collection and management of human resources information has outpaced the
development of human resources information systems in many health care organizations.

Rosalind Franklin Biography
Rosalind Franklin was born in the year 1920 in London, England to a socially well connected,
upper class [Jewish] family (Famous Scientists Rosalind Franklin). The second of five children
to be born to Ellis Franklin and Muriel Waley (Elkin). Franklin was close to her siblings, David,
Colin, Roland, and Jenifer. Her brothers would teach her and show her activities that were
typically enjoyed by boys such as sports and competition, but she still showed a zeal and passion
for the debates and intellectual discussions that her family would engage in (Elkin). Jenifer,
Rosalind s sister, spoke about Rosalind, saying that she was highly intelligent, logical, determined
and articulate and did excellent in these debates and discussions (Elkin). Their father, Ellis
Franklin, was an investment banker, while their mother, Muriel Waley, was the daughter of a
lawyer (Famous Scientists Rosalind Franklin). As their parents, Franklin and Waley encourage the
five children to think critically and put real effort and intellectual thought into the family debates,
encouraging them to think for themselves and have their own firm opinions (Famous Scientists
Rosalind Franklin). Looking at her home life, it is not hard to believe that Rosalind Franklin
excelled in her academic pursuits. For high school, she attended St Paul s Girls School, a
prestigious private school, starting at only 11 years old (Elkins). Her school friends described her

Why Huckleberry Finn Should Not Be Banned
I would like to bring up the situation on banning books. In our 8th grade Language Arts class we
have been assigned a project to read a banned or challenged book and determine whether or not the
we think that our book should be approved or banned. I chose the book The Adventures of
Huckleberry Finn and discovered almost immediately why this bookwas banned.
Over the years since has been published, many have been tried to ban this book but their attempts
have never succeeded . Many of this book s readers think that this book is racist and contains
inappropriate language. In fact most of the time this book has been out it has either been banned or
challenged since it was first published in 1885.

Why did he change his mind? After the Germans pushed Wilson to a certain point he entered the
war for justice and peace. The reason that America entered WWI was because of Wilson s
idealistic principles and morals. He continually talked to Congress about the moral issues until
he persuaded them to allow America to enter the war. Thomas Woodrow Wilson was an unlikely
president. He was born in Virginia and was the son of a minister. That is the reason for his
strong morals and ethics. Wilson graduated from Princeton and studies law at the University of

Politics, Division and Reunion, and a five volume History of the American People. He left his

Bip Oil Spill
The BP Gulf of Mexico oil spill tells the tragic story of what happened on the Deepwater Horizon
drilling rig back in April 2010. The rig, leased from another vendor, was digging a well on the
Macondo slope in the Gulf when it exploded and fatally killed eleven employees and injured
seventeen others (Crandall, Parnell, Spillan, 2014). Not to mention, five million barrels of oil
spilled into the sea causing an environmental issue that lasted more than ninety days. Several
underlying factors went into play that contributed to the oil crisis. One of those factors was the
safety device on the well referred to as a blowout preventor (BOP). The purpose of this device is
to stop the flow of oil and gas in case of an emergency situation. Apparently, if the BOP does not
operate correctly, the oil and gas can mix causing a disaster for employees, the environment, and
the machinery. According to the case study by Crandall, Parnell, and Spillan (2014), someone
bumped a control switch that altered the stability of the blowout. With that, no investigation was
conducted to make sure the equipment was in a stable state. Another factor was cementing the
drill case to make the structure stable. This process involves drilling a hole into the well and
inserting a case into the shaft that has to have cement in between. There are two safety aspects of
this; one keeps the shaft sealed from hydrocarbon gasses and oil until the extraction takes place,
and the other holds the metal casing centered in the bore that uses twenty one centralizers as an
added measure to keep it sturdy. The BP employees only had six steel... Show more content on

Information And Knowledge About Bigchange s Operation And...
In order to gain more deep understanding and knowledge about BigChange s operation and future
plan, the researcher conducted an in depth interview with the founder of the company who is also
the current CEO. Hence, this part of the chapter 4 will display five main topics of the research
collected from the interview as well as providing some direct quotes of the CEO.
4.4.1.Company Overview
It is essential for the researcher to gain insights into the operation and development of BigChange.
The CEO responded with meticulous answers about current situation and growth strategies. To
illustrate, the CEO believes his company is in the early phase of growth. Though they have just
offered their services and products for 2 years, their performances in the market are remarkable with
the annual revenue of ₤2 million. Moreover, he estimates the market share that the company has
gained after two years working is from 0.5% to 1% and he confirms that the UK telematics is one
of the biggest markets in Europe. Thus it seems to take BigChange more time and efforts to achieve
its ambition as a market leader.
When asking about the current strategy of BigChange, the CEO demonstrated that they are
providing services and products to specified industries in the UK by creating different industry
sites. Then they introduce sites and services to a customer coming from those industries, it will be

Military Respect Research Paper
Respect, being the third Army Value, is a central pillar to the beliefs and principles upheld by the
United States Army. These beliefs and principles are representative of this organization and are
integral to the behaviors between superior and subordinate, team member to team member, or
officer to Noncommissioned Officer, and are central to customs and courtesies that we must all
adhere to. Respectand courtesies that travel both up and down the chain are not only critical, but
highly revered and regarded by all. Respect is expected from the lower ranks upward, even if the
person demanding the respect is unworthy of that respect. Something I personally have heard that I
hold close to my heart is that You don t have to respect the person, but you must respect the rank.

Structure provides order and the necessary balance within an organization or ensure duties and

others. For example, saluting an officer is a custom and courtesy that hinges on respect. If you
do not care about the military, and are rude or disrespectful, and just walk by an officer without
rendering a salute, you will most likely get a couple dirty looks and a immediate corrective

Noncommissioned Officer. A proper good morning to the First Sergeant is fairly respectful. These
examples further solidify the idea that without the basic respect for authority, the military would
lack structure, rank, and authority. This lack of respect would and can negatively unit

trade when a country can produce at a lower opportunity cost. This is related to the rent theory
because both involve the advantages of one commodity over the other. They both are produced at
the lowest cost possible which means that one has the advantage over the other. Finally, the best
land creates an advantage because it can produce more, and the comparative advantage of
producing a commodity a lower price creates a bigger profit. Overall, Ricardo was different than
other political economist even though he began studying economicsafter reading The Wealth of

Productivity was lower until the creation of the division of labor which is why Smith finds it so
important. Nonetheless, the division of labor created economic, social, and behavioral effects.
Economically, the division of labor created a larger quantity in a shorter amount of time. It
created more productivity, which overall was better for the economy. Furthermore, this was
beneficial to the economy in an industrial way because it helped create new machinery and ways
of completing jobs. However, it is also effected by the market because problems occur when the
market is small (Wealth of Nations, p. 85) Nonetheless, the social and behavioral aspects are
effected as well. Smith believes that workers become stupid because they are so accustomed to
doing a single job that they cannot do anything else. This effects the social and behavioral
aspects because the workers become inhumane and barely good for anything. They do not know
how to interact, and they cannot come up with new ideas. The concept of the division of labor
was a good idea, but there were concerns with it. Another topic found in Smith s division of
labor is increasing returns to scale and how the virtuous cycle of growth occurs because of the
division of labor. Increasing returns to scale relates back to productivity and how more can be
produced with the division of labor. However, if too much is produced than supply will be above
demand which in

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Thyroidectomy
In the past decade, there have been significant advances in thyroid surgery. The advent of
energized dissecting and cutting devices like the most known Harmonic scalpel relieved the

Concerning the drain, we always use vacuum drain (Blake type). We propose the location to be just
under the skin of the axilla to avoid injury of arterioles. This current study was conducted using a
single surgeon s database. We had access to patient admissions after discharge. In the study no
patients experienced this complication after discharge.
For the management of postoperative hematoma, we always start with the same approach using the
trans axillary incision. There is no life threatening emergency and most of the time (if not all of the

hematomas post trans axillary robot thyroid surgery. (Figure

Post Modernism And Its Influence On Society
Post modernism came about in the late 20th century following modernism, which was a period
where people had a new found freedom to follow their own path in life, whether it was religion,
science, philosophy, art, or really anything they put their mind to as opposed to strictly traditional
beliefs. Writers could express their emotions more easily without really feeling a backlash from
what everyone else thought. Two female writers who were able to freely express themselves in
their writingduring post modernism were Linda Pastan and Sharon Olds. Linda
Pastan talked more about her life in general like every day anxieties, her marriage, parenting, and
even grief. However, Sharon Olds was a little more controversial in her writing since she often
talked about sexuality and violence. Their writing styles were similar in the aspect that they both
enjoyed writing based on their own lives, but still very different on how they talked about certain
subject matter. Even with different approaches, these two authors were still both very influential on
others who wanted to share the same dream. Both authors have had similar educational
backgrounds and writing recognition. Pastan
Was raised in New York City and attended Radcliffe College. After her graduation, she decided to
focus her life on her family and did not return to writing until 10 years later when she was
encouraged by her husband to do so. She received awards such as Mademoiselle poetry prize, the

How Do People Change In Midnight In Paris
It was a good book because it was an honest book. Ernest Hemingway s character in Midnight in

topic in three ways, through Woody Allen s movie, Midnight in Paris, through Hemingway s

Accounting Developments in Poland
Introduction of Poland
Poland officially known as Republic of Poland (Rzeczpospolita Polska) is a country in Central
Europe. Poland is bordered by Germany to the west; the Czech Republic and Slovakia to the south;
Ukraine, Belarus and Lithuania to the east; and the Baltic Sea and Kaliningrad Oblast, a Russian
exclave, to the north. The total area of Poland is 312,679 square kilometers (120,726 sq mi),
making it the 69th largest country in the world and 9th in Europe. Poland has a population of over
38 million people, which makes it the 33rd most populous country in the world. (WBO, 2010)

In the year 1956, the socialist communist ruling in Poland was lessened and it has created certain
level of autonomy for state owned enterprises and enabled the management and other personnel to
participate in profit distribution. Consequently, Institute of Audit Experts was established in 1957.
The appointed State Authorised Accountants (SAA) was to serve the purpose to verify the accounts
of state owned enterprises with a view to ascertain appropriation of profits and also the achievement
of the centrally planned targets. Three years later the longest UPA in operation (1960 1975) was
implemented based upon the previous Uniform Plans of Accounts, Branch Accounting Plans and
Enterprise Accounting Plans 15. This change has allowed firms to devise accounting systems to
meet their individual needs.
The last Uniform Plan of Accounts was enacted in the year 1976. This gives strong grounds to
believe that the accounting body, in a system based on rigid law regulations was still capable of
developing a broader perspective, professional view and ability to use professional judgment. It is
visible that under socialist ruling management accounting was the main area of growth since
nominal profitability and improvement of internal efficiency were the main objectives of the
practitioners. No specific or detailed rules were provided for cultural and historical events and the
nature of codified law affect IFRS adoption, acceptance

Disadvantage of Texting

Disadvantages of Texting Texting on the phone while driving can be a very dangerous thing to
do. As someone looks at the phone and concentrates on the text messages, they will become
distracted from driving. Distracted drivers can cause car accidents and injuries or death to
themselves or others. Texting causes delayed reactions, which increase the chance of getting into
an accident. According to Cary Aspinwall, when texting while driving, drivers take their eyes off
the road for 4.6 of 6 seconds. A National Safety Council fact sheet states drivers who use cell
phones are four times more likely to be in a crash. The Harvard center for Risk Analysis reports the

Hr Field Of Human Resource Management
HR in the 21st century
Introduction:
As the business world journeyed into the 21st century, the traditional ways of handling many
business aspects slowly drifted away. This turn of the century brought a whole new way of how
businesses operate and the departments within. These new ways of the business include the
prominence of technology, the ongoing fight for diversity in the workplace, and expansion on
globalization. Because these changes also effect the employees within the workplace, this has
forced the field of human resource management to change rapidly.
Methodology: HR Management in the 21st Century: What s Ahead? Objective: This paper
examines the rapid change in Human Resource Management throughout the 21st century. Human ...

Before posting jobs online, HR teams relied on posting and seeking new employees through
newspapers and other kinds of written publications. Since technology has evolved, employers are
now using outlets such as social media, online job publications, i.e. Indeed.com, Monster.com, etc.,
and company websites to recruit. Dr. Richard D. Johnson (2011) writer of Transforming HR through
Technology, states that: Almost all firms now provide universal access to HR services through
technology and web based applications, dramatically changing the practice of human resource
management. (Johnson, 2011). These new technologies have also cut costs and are more efficient
to use. A company is able to access possible candidate s resumes, cover letters, contact information,
and more through online publications and social media cites. This in turn saves money on using
traditional form of recruiting such as search firms, temp agencies, and advertising methods. Human
Resource departments are usually the holders of sensitive employee information at any company.
This sensitive information includes social security numbers, health related information, legal
issues, etc. With technology being more prominent in the Human Resources department, this
confidential information is readily accessed in computer systems. Because of the easily accessible
documents, HR tries to be as safe and protected as possible when handling employee information

How Did Jp Morgan Help The Government Out Of The Panic Of...
In the 1890 s, J.P Morgan was famous for helping the government out of the Panic of 1893.
While doing this, he made a lot of extra money in the process. This caused a lot of negative
controversy in the public, and the people began to doubt the government s liability. From the book
Grover Cleveland, a Study of Courage, the author comments, hard handed Americans believed that
Cleveland... had sold the credit of the republic to the Morgans... and had pocketed a share of the
price. Their vituperative anger was additional evidence of a sectional and class bitterness (Nevins
665). This shows the side of the story from the perspective of an American citizen. On top of that,
Morgan refused to tell the public how much money he made from helping the... Show more content

What Morgan was doing was using his power to gain control of all railways and, this resulted in
stopping other companies from trading along these railroads. This made companies very upset,
and that the fact that this entire incident was illegal forced Morgan to close one of his
companies down. As a middle class citizen, this would make you wary of all of Morgan s other
monopolies also, because if he almost got away with one illegal act, what else could he do? On
another note, Morgan dominated certain insurance companies, and was again using his power
and wealth to end up making the people pay for his expenses. In an article discussing this,
They[Morgan s company] had $50 million a year to invest money given by ordinary people for
their insurance policies . This is just another example of how J.P Morgan used other people s
money for his own self. If you begin to think in the public mindset, the phrase, They control the
people through the people s own money , begins to make sense. This all connects to a political
cartoon showing Morgan controlling a machine labeled Wall Street that was controlling the people
s money and forcing an American citizen to work for the company at the same time. Overall,
Morgan used tactics that were only for himself, and negatively impacted society.

All of the individuals mentioned in this exam question are considered great contributors to the
fields of not only psychology, but education as well. Most had an important place in the realm of

psychologist from France that developed the very first mental health test for scholastic

The Characteristics Of A Kangaroo
Kangaroo How can a kangaroo hop up to speeds of 35 miles per hour? How dangerous can they
actually be? In order to understand the significance of a kangaroo, one must understand their daily
life, the structure of their body, and their effect on people and the environment. An example of God
s great creativity is the kangaroos body structure. It has functions that are only usually seen in this
animal. The reason a kangaroo can hop up to 30 35 miles per hour is done by its lower half. A
kangaroo has legs like no other animal; their legs are very compelling. These energetic legs have
tendons in them that act like a rubber band. They are elastic, which allows them to do
movements that are unusual to other animals such as hop side to side, quickly hop, and jump
high. Along with these mighty legs, their big feet allow them to spring up into the air at heights
of five to six feet! Not only do the feet help them jump, they also aid in keeping balance since the
feet are so large and have four toes. On the other hand the upper half of the kangaroo is just as
important as or more important than the lower half. The very sharp claws are used to break
grass and other plants off so they can eat it and in some cases they can be used to defend the
kangaroo from predators. They chew their food with very powerful jaws and teeth. Since they
mainly eat grass, their teeth last a long time. The size of the ear on a kangaroo is large and there
straight up. This gives the kangaroo the ability

Does The Baptism Debate
INTRODUCTION
I am doing my term paper on The Baptism Debate. We were all given a choice of what we
wanted to do for our topic and I decided on this debate because I kind of knew a little about this
subject and wanted to see the different views included. There is a slight bias to this subject matter
because of my own personal experiences in my life. Throughout Scripture, Christians have all
agreed that it is God s will that all must be baptized. It has been commanded by Him and not
considered an optional experience for individuals. Learning about the two different viewpoints, that
I will express in this paper, have brought out a great argument about when and how a human being
should be baptized. I am now going to talk about the history of ... Show more content on

My pastor asked them the questions on my behalf and I was washed clean and given the
opportunity to let my life be guided by Christ our savior. I still believe I would have this stance on
the argument because this is what scripture is full of. I don t agree with the thought that The
Believer s Baptism View goes against the church tradition. There is something to be said about
how when a child is born into this world, they bring a natural sin with them. They need to be
cleansed with the Holy Spirit at baptism. I do understand where some people will say that parents
making a decision for you is not right and that there needs to be free will involved when choosing
to follow Christ. The counter argument that caught my eye to back up my view though was how
that gives the impression that Salvation is a matter of God responding to human choice. The infant
baptism rather illustrates how God has full control over our salvation. That is where I truly and
firmly stick by the Infant Baptism View. The next section will follow an outside example of how
this applies in my own

Narrative Essay On Solar Eclipse
On August 21st of this year, my generation got to discover an event that I found absolutely breath
taking. A total solar eclipse passed over the United States, making it distinguishable in the afternoon
sky from the ground. The total solar eclipse only occurs when the moon aligns just directly in front
of the Sun, a sight which most people will never get to see in their lifetime. Three weeks back, I
bought glasses in preparation to see the full phenomenon. Myself and a few of my close friends
went on a mission to see the total eclipse from the best vantage point I could, which landed me a
tad bit south of Crossville, TN. I left campus Sunday night to join some friends back home who
were also anticipating the event. The next morning around... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

We drove at a speed in the range of 60 to 70 miles an hour, down an old narrow country road,
racing the eclipse so that we could experience it in the most ideal position possible. It was quite
dangerous as none of us had seat belts on and were holding on to the safety handle. The ride was
an adrenaline rush. Four or five minutes away we pulled off on the side and stepped away from
our cars. In a field, way out in what could only be described as B.F.E. Tennessee, we gathered
around on the side of the road and counted down to totality.
Scientists will tell you that the gravity is lighter on the surface of the earth directly amid a full
eclipse. To some degree, maybe the adrenaline and gravity were at fault for the emotional
reaction that I felt during the eclipse. The minute felt too dreamlike to be in any way genuine,
like a scene from a sci fi film or the start of the end of the world. The green hue of the sky just
before, rushing emotions, and all the people who had gathered in strange places to watch this event
together made it feel like an important moment in my life. And when the sun was completely
secured behind the shadow of the moon, all the light for miles around, went dark, and all went silent.
For around 30 seconds, I heard cicadas chirp the way they do at dusk. Looking up into the dark
afternoon sky was comparable to considering the eye of a divine being. I saw

Affordable Care Disadvantages
Prior to the passing of the Affordable Care Act, government interventions existed but none as
intrusive and omnipresent as those in the ACA. Although, previously, fewer government intrusions
existed, the healthcare industry and health insurance companies in the United States were still
heavily controlled by government regulations. At this point time it is too early to tell whether the
reform has resulted in any economic advantages or disadvantages. While the Affordable Care Act
is still in its early stages, and still not fully implemented, some research and data is available as to
whether the reform could be successful, or has been already in any aspect, or not.

Themes Of Kipling
Orwell and the Underlying Themes of Kipling In an assessment of Rudyard Kipling s work,
George Orwell claims Kipling is is a jingo imperialist, he is morally insensitive and aesthetically
disgusting. Orwell assesses Kipling s work as being outdated from a nineteenth century
imperialist outlook that is no longer applicable to modern society. He disclosed Kipling s lack of
knowledge on economic forces giving reason behind Kipling s stories not syncing with the
natural history that took place after. He exposes Kipling s weaknesses as only being able to
write about things that have already happened, confining Kipling as only a writer of his time.
Orwell compares Kipling to a shameful pleasure, like the taste for cheap sweets that some
people secretly carry into middle life. Orwell is not completely critical of Kipling. For example,
he believes Kipling appeals to audiences by communicating as the voice of the common man. He
writes from the heart and appeals to audiences, not financially, but emotionally. Orwell also finds
Kipling s realistic vision of war to be impressive, since he had not physically been in battle.
Furthermore, Orwell defends Kipling against the false allegations of being a Fascist. Orwell
claims He [Kipling] was further from being one than the most humane or the most progressive
person is able to be nowadays. Though it is evident that Kipling s imperialist viewpoint heavily
influences his writing, Orwell s interpretations of The White Seal and

Plato s The Nicomachean Ethics
In the Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle presents the reader with a guide to living a good life. He
claims the highest good is happiness, and the way to obtain it is through the use of reason. In order
to better comprehend Aristotle s ideas regarding happiness, we will explain his conception of
eudaimonia and excellence through rational activity. Then, we will examine this concept of rational
activity in relation to the aristotelian concept of self sufficiency. At the end of the Nicomachean
Ethics, Aristotle offers a seemingly divergent point of view. However, we will argue that these final
reflections on happinessdescribe the best way to experience a good life.
All individuals are in search of some good. Every one of our actions, skills and choices has an
aim, and this aim is defined as the good of that particular activity (1094a1 3). While these activities
are distinct, some may be classed into broader faculties. For example, ethics, metaphysics,
aesthetics, logic and epistemology are all activities that fall under the more general faculty of
philosophy. As a result, the individual ends of the former all work towards the superior good of the
latter. (1094a9 16). However, such ends are incomplete they are not pursued for their own sake, but
for the sake of another superior goal. As we examine the categorization of activity, is important to
distinguish between instrumental value and intrinsic value. An action or skill with instrumental
value is not pursued for its own

Viable Alternative Energy For Replace Fossil Fuels
Viable Alternative Energy to Replace Fossil Fuels
Nauman Syed Zia
University of Houston
Nearly all of the United States production of energy comes from non renewable sources, also
known as fossil fuels. However, the problem with using fossil fuels to satisfy the United States ever
growing demand for power is that they are a limited resource and their production and usage cause
a myriad of harmful environmental effects. There are other sources of energy available that do not
run out and are much more environmentally friendly such as wind, solar and hydro power. The

Based of the origins of these fossil fuels, it is easy to see how incredibly slow the fossil fuel
process is. In fact, the process is so slow that regeneration is negligible. Continued use of these

forever. Its simply a matter of time until the United States will need other sources of power, and it
is a smart move to act now on creating sustainable methods of energy rather than wait until the
nation is forced to switch. The attractive feature of using alternative energy such as wind, solar, and
hydro power is the assurance of renewability. There will always be naturally occurring winds,
moving water, and radiation from the sun that can be converted to energy. The United States
government should invest its time and resources into implementing these energy sources in order to
secure sustainable energy. These alternative energy sources are more environmentally appealing as
they do not cause nearly as much environmental damage that fossil fuels do. Aside from fossil fuel
s long term non sustainability, the United States should shift to renewable resources because of the
detrimental effects fossil fuels pose to the environment and people. The use of fossil fuels lead to an
increase in air pollution, water pollution, land pollution, and even global warming. During fossil
fuel combustion, pollutants such as carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides,

Coriolanus And Cressida Essay
Chris Baldick defines rhetoric as the deliberate exploitation of eloquence for the most persuasive
effect . This is certainly seen at work in Coriolanus and Troilus and Cressida, two Jacobean
dramas with war and politics at their centre. In both plays, characters attempt to employ rhetoric as
a persuasive tool for political ends. In Troilus and Cressida, Ulysses aims to use rhetoricand political
machinations to mobilise a war weary army. On the other hand, Coriolanus s reluctance to use, and
dislike of, rhetoric, results in further social disruption and war. Though rhetoric may be considered
an unethical tool of manipulation, it is nonetheless useful for maintaining social order in these
plays, where war threatens to throw society... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the same time, Volumnia seems to take a deliberative approach to rhetoric itself, suggesting that
it should be performed in order to adhere to custom and maintain social

Inciting Incident Monologue Analysis
Inciting Incident Monologue
Who is she and how does she know my name? There are more eyes staring at me with disgust
than I can count. I feel like an animal at the zoo, having my every move observed. I can t move, I
can t think and I can t speak. These people don t know me or what happened that night. If I were
bold I would say something back at them. I can feel my throat closing in as I think. I would
never be able to speak. I don t know what to do. I feel to blame for this girl whose brother got
arrested at that party. He got fired because of the arrest (28) but she doesn t know why I did it.
My head is filled with voices responding to all of these comments but I can t open my mouth to tell
them. There is nothing I can do to save myself ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Speak the major problem is that Melinda is not able to speak up for herself from the moment
she was raped at the party. She speaks very minimally throughout the book and the reader mainly
just gets insight into Melinda s thoughts rather than hearing what she says. This problem gets
solved when Andy Evans traps Melinda in her closet and attempts the rape her again. He is
frustrated with her because he feels that she started spreading lies, and now every girl in school is
talking... like I m some kind of pervert. (193). At first, things are just the same with Melina; she
can t find the power within herself to speak. Andy is hurting her and thinks that she won t do
anything to help herself, he says You re not going to scream. You didn t scream before. (194). The
climax then occurs as Melinda explodes; she screamed and pushed Andy off of her. She gained
the courage to speak, she told Andy I said no. (195) and he nodded. Melinda finally found her
voice and it is going to help her on her pathway towards emotional recovery from everything she
has been

groups with a recorded 17 terrorist related crimes. As a society, we are continuously faced with
the difficulty of surrendering our freedom to increase our safety. The Stop and Frisk law allowed
New York City policeoffers to stop and search people for the suspicion of weapons, drugs and
other illegal imports. This program that was started by the previous New York Major Bloomberg
with the help of the police chief, sparked a lot of controversy because New Yorker s believed this
new law was going against their rights protected by the 4th Amendment.

The second beekeeper, however, had very different results. Because each bee in his hive was
focused on the hive s goal of producing more honey. This Bess had concentrated their efforts on
gathering more nectar in order to produce more honey than ever before. The bees worked
together to determine the highest nectar yielding flowers and to create quicker processes for
depositing the nectar they had gathered. They also worked together to help increase the amount
of nectar gathered by the poorer performers. Tile Queen Bee of this hive reported that the poor
performers either improved their performance or transferred to hive No.1, because the hive had
reached its goal. The beekeeper rewarded each bee his portion of the hive incentive. The keeper
was also surprised to hear a loud, happy buzz and a jubilant flapping of wings as he rewarded the
individual highperforming bees with special recognition. Should you measure performance or
mere activities of employees? is the one who does silent work but does not show of himself
/herself or the one who puts up a show but hardly performs to be recognized and rewarded? This

  • 2. Philadelphia 76er Essay This season, all eyes will be on the Philadelphia 76ers to see if they can take that next step towards a potential playoff berth. In offseason, the team signed both sharpshooter J.J. Redick and big man Amir Johnson to one year deals in free agency to pair with the youth movement led by center Joel Embiid. However, while all the attention is on the guys apart of the 15 man roster, the Sixers and the rest of the NBA have an additional two roster spots, which is for two way contracts. This should help a lot of teams this season as they can develop players through their system while getting valuable playing time in the G League. Earlier this summer, the Sixers used one of their two way slots on forward James Michael McAdoo. McAdoo spent the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If that wasn t amazing enough, Pullen upped the ante in his senior year, averaging 20.2 points, 3.7 assists, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.6 steals in 32.6 minutes per game. Just like he did as a junior, Pullen continued to show off his hot shooting stroke, knocking down 42.6 percent from the field and 38.1 percent from three point range. Despite ending his four year career at Kansas State on a high note, Pullen would go undrafted in 2011 and began his world tour playing basketball. He started off playing hoops with Pallacanestro Bella in Italian Lega Basket Seria A and continued to do what he does best, scoring points. With Pallacanestro Bella, Pullen averaged 16.0 points, shot 42.1 percent from the field and 34.1 percent from three point range in 34.3 minutes per game. Three point shooting would become Pullen s best friend overseas as he would have a ridiculous game a few seasons later with FC Barcelona Lassa. Against C.B. Valladolid, Pullen went off for 42 points on 12 of 15 shooting from distance, leading his team to victory. The former Kansas State Wildcat put on the clinic, showing he could knock down the three ball off screens and off the dribble. However, do not let the three point shot fool you. Pullen can get to the basket at will and has a nice hang dribble, which throws his defenders off. Last season, he played with Khimki in the VTB United league and even though his ... • 3. Richard Milhous Nixon s Father s Side Of The Family Richard Milhous Nixon came from a family with a strong heritage. His father s side of the family were Methodists originally from Scotland. Then, in the early 1600s, they migrated to Ireland, and to America in the 1730s. His grandfather, George Nixon, died in the Battle of Gettysburg during the Civil war. Richard s father, Frank Nixon, was born in Ohio. His mother died when he was only 7, and he left home when he was only 14. He went from town to town doing odd jobs and eventually made his way to California where he met his future wife, Hannah. Nixon s mother s side of the family was originally from Germany. They then migrated to England around 1688, where they became Quakers. From England they migrated to Ireland, and from Ireland to America. During the civil war they were part of the underground railroad. Richard s mother, Hannah Milhous, was born in Indiana, but her family moved and she grew up in Whittier, California, where she met Frank Nixon. They fell in love at first sight, and were married four months later in June 1908. Frank converted to Quakerism. Frank and Hannah s first son, Harold, was born in 1909, only a year after they were wed. In 1908, Frank bought a lemon ranch in Yorba Linda, CA, and built a small house there. Then, on January 9, 1913, Richard Milhous Nixon was born in that very house. Hannah and Frank would have three more children: Donald (born in 1914), Arthur (born in 1918), and Edward (born in 1930). • 4. Auditing And Auditing Essay Introduction Employees today can see variation as an opportunity rather than a risk. Tim M. and Timboon F., were the ones who observed that change is truly in the present business environment and if done properly, it can aide the growth of business. When a person changes their job responsibilities, they need to be aware of what can be considered a reasonable change in the latitude of their position and what can constitute termination. Sensible changes are those that do not change the essential position. Below are examples of the unfair and fair job changes: An administrative staff member who is inquired to undertake lunch coverage of the reception duties or learn current system could be taken to fall within the scope of an Office Assistant. Throughout her life, she was to learn this lesson over and over again. Despite the many obstacles standing in her way, she made incredible progress in numerous fields and shook the world, not to mention the scientific community, to its very core. In 1896, Henri Becquerel observed some rays of unknown nature (Madame Curie, p. 153) radiating off of uranium salts. Marie, fascinated by these rays, took to studying this interesting phenomenon herself. As a result of these studies, she discovered an entirely new field of science, and coined the term Radioactivity. She also discovered two new elements, polonium and radium. This lead to the discoveries of new elements by other scientists. The next year, 1899, AndrГ© Debierne discovered actinium. In just a few more years, there became a global race to element discovery. The rig, leased from another vendor, was digging a well on the Macondo slope in the Gulf when it exploded and fatally killed eleven employees and injured seventeen others (Crandall, Parnell, Spillan, 2014). Not to mention, five million barrels of oil spilled into the sea causing an environmental issue that lasted more than ninety days. Several underlying factors went into play that contributed to the oil crisis. One of those factors was the safety device on the well referred to as a blowout preventor (BOP). The purpose of this device is to stop the flow of oil and gas in case of an emergency situation. Apparently, if the BOP does not operate correctly, the oil and gas can mix causing a disaster for employees, the environment, and the machinery. According to the case study by Crandall, Parnell, and Spillan (2014), someone bumped a control switch that altered the stability of the blowout. With that, no investigation was conducted to make sure the equipment was in a stable state. Another factor was cementing the drill case to make the structure stable. This process involves drilling a hole into the well and inserting a case into the shaft that has to have cement in between. There are two safety aspects of this; one keeps the shaft sealed from hydrocarbon gasses and oil until the extraction takes place, and the other holds the metal casing centered in the bore that uses twenty one centralizers as an added measure to keep it sturdy. Productivity was lower until the creation of the division of labor which is why Smith finds it so important. Nonetheless, the division of labor created economic, social, and behavioral effects. Economically, the division of labor created a larger quantity in a shorter amount of time. It created more productivity, which overall was better for the economy. Furthermore, this was beneficial to the economy in an industrial way because it helped create new machinery and ways of completing jobs. However, it is also effected by the market because problems occur when the market is small (Wealth of Nations, p. 85) Nonetheless, the social and behavioral aspects are effected as well. Smith believes that workers become stupid because they are so accustomed to doing a single job that they cannot do anything else. This effects the social and behavioral aspects because the workers become inhumane and barely good for anything. They do not know how to interact, and they cannot come up with new ideas. The concept of the division of labor was a good idea, but there were concerns with it. Another topic found in Smith s division of labor is increasing returns to scale and how the virtuous cycle of growth occurs because of the division of labor. • 26. Hr Field Of Human Resource Management HR in the 21st century Introduction: As the business world journeyed into the 21st century, the traditional ways of handling many business aspects slowly drifted away. This turn of the century brought a whole new way of how businesses operate and the departments within. These new ways of the business include the prominence of technology, the ongoing fight for diversity in the workplace, and expansion on globalization. Because these changes also effect the employees within the workplace, this has forced the field of human resource management to change rapidly. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before posting jobs online, HR teams relied on posting and seeking new employees through newspapers and other kinds of written publications. Since technology has evolved, employers are now using outlets such as social media, online job publications, i.e. Indeed.com, Monster.com, etc., and company websites to recruit. Dr. Richard D. Johnson (2011) writer of Transforming HR through Technology, states that: Almost all firms now provide universal access to HR services through technology and web based applications, dramatically changing the practice of human resource management. (Johnson, 2011). These new technologies have also cut costs and are more efficient to use. A company is able to access possible candidate s resumes, cover letters, contact information, and more through online publications and social media cites. This in turn saves money on using traditional form of recruiting such as search firms, temp agencies, and advertising methods. Human Resource departments are usually the holders of sensitive employee information at any company. This sensitive information includes social security numbers, health related information, legal issues, etc. With technology being more prominent in the Human Resources department, this confidential information is readily accessed in computer systems. • 27. How Did Jp Morgan Help The Government Out Of The Panic Of... In the 1890 s, J.P Morgan was famous for helping the government out of the Panic of 1893. While doing this, he made a lot of extra money in the process. This caused a lot of negative controversy in the public, and the people began to doubt the government s liability. From the book Grover Cleveland, a Study of Courage, the author comments, hard handed Americans believed that Cleveland... had sold the credit of the republic to the Morgans... and had pocketed a share of the price. Their vituperative anger was additional evidence of a sectional and class bitterness (Nevins 665). This shows the side of the story from the perspective of an American citizen. On top of that, Morgan refused to tell the public how much money he made from helping the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What Morgan was doing was using his power to gain control of all railways and, this resulted in stopping other companies from trading along these railroads. This made companies very upset, and that the fact that this entire incident was illegal forced Morgan to close one of his companies down. As a middle class citizen, this would make you wary of all of Morgan s other monopolies also, because if he almost got away with one illegal act, what else could he do? On another note, Morgan dominated certain insurance companies, and was again using his power and wealth to end up making the people pay for his expenses. In an article discussing this, They[Morgan s company] had $50 million a year to invest money given by ordinary people for their insurance policies . This is just another example of how J.P Morgan used other people s money for his own self. If you begin to think in the public mindset, the phrase, They control the people through the people s own money , begins to make sense. This all connects to a political cartoon showing Morgan controlling a machine labeled Wall Street that was controlling the people s money and forcing an American citizen to work for the company at the same time. Overall, Morgan used tactics that were only for himself, and negatively impacted society. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. The Characteristics Of A Kangaroo Kangaroo How can a kangaroo hop up to speeds of 35 miles per hour? How dangerous can they actually be? In order to understand the significance of a kangaroo, one must understand their daily life, the structure of their body, and their effect on people and the environment. An example of God s great creativity is the kangaroos body structure. It has functions that are only usually seen in this animal. The reason a kangaroo can hop up to 30 35 miles per hour is done by its lower half. A kangaroo has legs like no other animal; their legs are very compelling. These energetic legs have tendons in them that act like a rubber band. They are elastic, which allows them to do movements that are unusual to other animals such as hop side to side, quickly hop, and jump high. Along with these mighty legs, their big feet allow them to spring up into the air at heights of five to six feet! Not only do the feet help them jump, they also aid in keeping balance since the feet are so large and have four toes. On the other hand the upper half of the kangaroo is just as important as or more important than the lower half. The very sharp claws are used to break grass and other plants off so they can eat it and in some cases they can be used to defend the kangaroo from predators. They chew their food with very powerful jaws and teeth. Since they mainly eat grass, their teeth last a long time. The size of the ear on a kangaroo is large and there straight up. This gives the kangaroo the ability ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Does The Baptism Debate INTRODUCTION I am doing my term paper on The Baptism Debate. We were all given a choice of what we wanted to do for our topic and I decided on this debate because I kind of knew a little about this subject and wanted to see the different views included. There is a slight bias to this subject matter because of my own personal experiences in my life. Throughout Scripture, Christians have all agreed that it is God s will that all must be baptized. It has been commanded by Him and not considered an optional experience for individuals. Learning about the two different viewpoints, that I will express in this paper, have brought out a great argument about when and how a human being should be baptized. I still believe I would have this stance on the argument because this is what scripture is full of. I don t agree with the thought that The Believer s Baptism View goes against the church tradition. There is something to be said about how when a child is born into this world, they bring a natural sin with them. They need to be cleansed with the Holy Spirit at baptism. I do understand where some people will say that parents making a decision for you is not right and that there needs to be free will involved when choosing to follow Christ. The counter argument that caught my eye to back up my view though was how that gives the impression that Salvation is a matter of God responding to human choice. The infant baptism rather illustrates how God has full control over our salvation. That is where I truly and firmly stick by the Infant Baptism View. • 31. Narrative Essay On Solar Eclipse On August 21st of this year, my generation got to discover an event that I found absolutely breath taking. A total solar eclipse passed over the United States, making it distinguishable in the afternoon sky from the ground. The total solar eclipse only occurs when the moon aligns just directly in front of the Sun, a sight which most people will never get to see in their lifetime. Three weeks back, I bought glasses in preparation to see the full phenomenon. Myself and a few of my close friends went on a mission to see the total eclipse from the best vantage point I could, which landed me a tad bit south of Crossville, TN. It was quite dangerous as none of us had seat belts on and were holding on to the safety handle. The ride was an adrenaline rush. Four or five minutes away we pulled off on the side and stepped away from our cars. In a field, way out in what could only be described as B.F.E. Tennessee, we gathered around on the side of the road and counted down to totality. Scientists will tell you that the gravity is lighter on the surface of the earth directly amid a full eclipse. To some degree, maybe the adrenaline and gravity were at fault for the emotional reaction that I felt during the eclipse. The minute felt too dreamlike to be in any way genuine, like a scene from a sci fi film or the start of the end of the world. The green hue of the sky just before, rushing emotions, and all the people who had gathered in strange places to watch this event together made it feel like an important moment in my life. And when the sun was completely secured behind the shadow of the moon, all the light for miles around, went dark, and all went silent. For around 30 seconds, I heard cicadas chirp the way they do at dusk. Looking up into the dark afternoon sky was comparable to considering the eye of a divine being. I saw ... Themes Of Kipling Orwell and the Underlying Themes of Kipling In an assessment of Rudyard Kipling s work, George Orwell claims Kipling is is a jingo imperialist, he is morally insensitive and aesthetically disgusting. Orwell assesses Kipling s work as being outdated from a nineteenth century imperialist outlook that is no longer applicable to modern society. He disclosed Kipling s lack of knowledge on economic forces giving reason behind Kipling s stories not syncing with the natural history that took place after. He exposes Kipling s weaknesses as only being able to write about things that have already happened, confining Kipling as only a writer of his time. Orwell compares Kipling to a shameful pleasure, like the taste for cheap sweets that some people secretly carry into middle life. Orwell is not completely critical of Kipling. For example, he believes Kipling appeals to audiences by communicating as the voice of the common man. He writes from the heart and appeals to audiences, not financially, but emotionally. Orwell also finds Kipling s realistic vision of war to be impressive, since he had not physically been in battle. Furthermore, Orwell defends Kipling against the false allegations of being a Fascist. • 39. Plato s The Nicomachean Ethics In the Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle presents the reader with a guide to living a good life. He claims the highest good is happiness, and the way to obtain it is through the use of reason. In order to better comprehend Aristotle s ideas regarding happiness, we will explain his conception of eudaimonia and excellence through rational activity. Then, we will examine this concept of rational activity in relation to the aristotelian concept of self sufficiency. At the end of the Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle offers a seemingly divergent point of view. However, we will argue that these final reflections on happinessdescribe the best way to experience a good life. All individuals are in search of some good. Every one of our actions, skills and choices has an aim, and this aim is defined as the good of that particular activity (1094a1 3). While these activities are distinct, some may be classed into broader faculties. For example, ethics, metaphysics, aesthetics, logic and epistemology are all activities that fall under the more general faculty of philosophy. As a result, the individual ends of the former all work towards the superior good of the latter. (1094a9 16). However, such ends are incomplete they are not pursued for their own sake, but for the sake of another superior goal. As we examine the categorization of activity, is important to distinguish between instrumental value and intrinsic value. An action or skill with instrumental value is not pursued for its own ... Viable Alternative Energy For Replace Fossil Fuels Viable Alternative Energy to Replace Fossil Fuels Nauman Syed Zia University of Houston Nearly all of the United States production of energy comes from non renewable sources, also known as fossil fuels. However, the problem with using fossil fuels to satisfy the United States ever growing demand for power is that they are a limited resource and their production and usage cause a myriad of harmful environmental effects. There are other sources of energy available that do not run out and are much more environmentally friendly such as wind, solar and hydro power. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Based of the origins of these fossil fuels, it is easy to see how incredibly slow the fossil fuel process is. In fact, the process is so slow that regeneration is negligible. Continued use of these fossil fuels will cause them to rapidly run out. Basically, when these fuels run out, they are gone forever. Its simply a matter of time until the United States will need other sources of power, and it is a smart move to act now on creating sustainable methods of energy rather than wait until the nation is forced to switch. The attractive feature of using alternative energy such as wind, solar, and hydro power is the assurance of renewability. There will always be naturally occurring winds, moving water, and radiation from the sun that can be converted to energy. The United States government should invest its time and resources into implementing these energy sources in order to secure sustainable energy. These alternative energy sources are more environmentally appealing as they do not cause nearly as much environmental damage that fossil fuels do. Aside from fossil fuel s long term non sustainability, the United States should shift to renewable resources because of the detrimental effects fossil fuels pose to the environment and people.
