George Rush St-Pierre s Case
Not even financial woes concerning UFC 217 s ticket sales could divert George Rush St Pierre s
(GSP) attention to his goal of defeating Michael The Count Bisping and having the UFC
middleweight championship belt wrapped around his waist on November 4 at Madison Square
Garden. MMA Junkie relayed GSP s statement that he would rather win his fight and make zero
dollars than the other way around by losing his fight and earning his profit. According to UFC
commentator Joe Rogan, the pay per view s ticket sales are not going well as expected, yet UFC
President Dana White explained that GSP required a reintroduction to the sport s followers after a
long layoff. In the end, only live gate and pay per view figures will determine UFC 217 s success.

Ethnography Essays
Ethnography
Introduction
Beginning with the early stages of savagery to the complex civilizations in the 21st century, the
need to compete remains an important aspect in the continual evolution of mankind. Competition
took various forms throughout history from the bloody attempts to kill a mammoth in order to
provide nourishment, to the violent battles between two opposing sides taking place on college
football fields every Saturday afternoon. Another form of competition involving severe contact
on a scale par with football is the sport of rugby. My personal history with the sport began in a
medium sized island in Polynesia. I lived and worked in New Zealand during the summer of 1999,
between my sophomore and junior year. This little ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From my research I discovered three conflicting themes, and my theory behind these themes is
based upon structural analysis. This ethnography will also reveal some of the methodological
questions discussed in class, specifically, replicability, critical dialogue, reflexivity, and
globalization. Interestingly, I found a way to connect three out of the four methodological issues to
the conflicting themes gathered in my research. For example, critical dialogue links to the
contradiction between playfulness and competiveness, reflexivity to upper and lower classes, and
globalization to Englishness and Americaness. My point of departure, however, will begin with a
basic introduction to the history and rules of rugby. This will enable my non rugby playing readers
(i.e. Joel, William, Bashira, etc.) to gain general background knowledge on the sport before they
become acquainted with the Occidental rugby culture.
Rugby s Tale
Legend has it that a young English boy picked up a soccer ball during a match at Rugby School.
Picking up the ball is a clear violation in soccer unless the player is the goalie; but the illegality
proved popular and led to the sport of rugby. In 1846, the school later published the rules of rugby.
England, Scotland, and Whales picked the game up quickly and developed leagues for the new
sport. The spread of rugby to outside the island

The Problem Of Teenage Crime
Teenage crime is a very important problem that the united states is facing these days. It erodes our
country economically and morally. The government, along with parents are still trying to come up
with a solution to this international problem. Rising aggression, especially among teenagers is very
harmful to the society as a whole, and their reasons behind this are more compound and more
complex then we could ever imagine. The majority of Crimes committed by teenagers includes
gang violence, theft, assault and even murder. The most important factors that trigger these teens to
commit these acts are their family life, media, and the collapse of their community. Family
conditions proved to be a direct effect on a teenager s behavior. Positive family environments
provide a strong base for the development of a child. From the very first years, a child s
development and the way they act are influenced by the environment they encounter. Whenever a
teenager isn t getting the right support needed, they often turn to acts of violence to get their
parents attention or let out their aggression from their inner feelings. living in a dysfunctional
household where everything is unstable and the family lives a transient lifestyle, they often move
around and aren t stable enough to stay in one place. When this happens there are greater risks of
the teen dropping out of school and they then become bored and run the streets and the streets often
lead them to hanging with the

Ancient Druids
Very little is known about the ancient druids. They left no written accounts of themselves, and the
only evidence is a few descriptions left by Greek, Roman, and various scattered authors and artists,
as well as stories created by later medieval Irish writers [4] Druids concern themselves with divine
affairs, managing public and private sacrifices and interpreting matters of religion. [1] A great
number of young men gather about them to learn and hold them in great honor. In fact, it is they
who decide in almost all disputes, public and private; and if any crime has been committed, or
murder done, or there is any dispute about succession or boundaries, they also decide it,
determining rewards and penalties: if any person or people does not abide by their decision, they
ban such from sacrifice, which is their heaviest penalty. [7] Those that are so banned are reckoned
as impious and criminal, all men move out of their path and shun their approach and conversation,

I believe that they have adopted this practice for two reasons: that they don t want their teaching to
become common knowledge, nor do they desire for those who learn the rule to rely on writing and
so neglect the cultivation of the memory. It does usually happen that the assistance of writing tends
to relax the diligence of the student and the action of the memory. [7] A modern example of this is
how people no longer remember phone numbers because it is simply stored in their cellular

Kay Redfield Jamison s Life
Kay Redfield Jamison was born on June 22, 1946 in the United States of America. She received
her Bachelors and Masters in the University of California, also known as UCLA. After
accomplishing these goals, she set out to acquire her Ph.D., which she did, also at UCLA in the
year 1975. UCLA is significant for a number of reasons. Upon completing her degrees, she began
to work there as an assistant professor and then rose to the rank of associate professor. Though
she was an associate professor of psychiatry in 1981, she made a significant impact by
establishing the Affective Disorders Clinic at her alma mater in the year of 77. Her experience as
an associate professor in psychiatry helped her gain a significant position at John Hopkins... Show

Moreover, she was recognized for her work with the National Alliance for Research on
Schizophrenia and Depression in 2007. Included with her awards was the title of Hero of
Medicine by Time magazine in 1997. Throughout this time of awards and accreditation, she also
took the role of co director of the Mood Disorders Center since the year 2005. In addition to her
professional standing at Johns Hopkins, she also frequently travels to Scotland where she works at
the University of St. Andrews as a professor of English and Neurophysiology.
Given her accreditation and awards for her work in her community, as well as her literature, it is
easy to see why she continues to make an impact in her field. Throughout her college career, and
thereafter, she has made monumental influences in the lives of others through her research.
Moreover, her knowledge of those who have disorders helps people understand that she truly
does know what they are going through. Jamison was diagnosed with bipolar disorder when she
was 28 years old. Not only does this allow her to empathize with others by allowing her to walk
in the same shoes as them, she is still able to perform her duties as a psychologist. Not only does
she understand others with bipolar disorder, she understands how she affects others with her
disorder. Some may think that by outing herself as having a mood disorder, she may have hindered
her career. In fact, it

The Pros And Cons Of The Prohibition Era
The Prohibition Era, 1920 1933, was a time of turmoil and conflict as the ban of alcohol brought
with it the growth of organized crime in United States. The nationwide prohibition of alcohol was
introduced to solve social issues and most significantly, lower crime and corruption. Initially
established due to nationwide Temperance movements stating that banning alcohol would decrease
crime, however the banning of alcohol led to increased organized crime. Organized crime in
America grew during Prohibition due to the mafia, gangs and the mob utilizing the public demand
for alcohol for their own economic gain, bootlegging alcohol, using extortion and violence, all in is
larger quantities than was present before the 18th Amendment was passed. A Public demand for
alcohol and lack of enforcement of the 18th Amendment led to such an unsuccessful movement and
eventually the first United States Constitution Amendment to be repealed fully. The results of the
13 year noble experiment are why the Prohibition Era and the 18tht Amendment were a complete
failure. The 18th Amendment, passed by the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The nature of the mafia and gangs of America was to create business through illegal activities,
bringing in profit, and organized crime always seeks to commercialize and to exploit human nature
(Landesco, 2808). Therefore, gangsters before Prohibition Era utilized other various lucrative
markets prior to the banning of alcohol manufacture. Gambling and Prostitution were among the
gangster s most profitable endeavors before 1920, still remaining profitable during Prohibition Era.
Other areas of criminal activity facilitated by gangsters before and throughout Prohibition included
robbery, hijacking, and contract killing. Although not as profitable, they aided in the maintaining of
the prostitution and gambling operations, and normally were by products of the

The Brown Burro and Nature Essay
I breathed a sigh of relief finding everything in our camp as we had left it. Time seemed to have
stood still in this part of the world; I felt as though we had been gone for ages when actually it
was only three and a half days. I showered Frog with affection, and gave him the last of our
cookies and chips. That night, Satan and Puss slept with me in my trailer. Frog kept me awake
with his constant stomping and braying. Snow had fallen during our absence. Only patches of thin
crust remained at Harry s camp. The hills beyond were covered with a blanket of mushroom like
beauty glistening in the desert sun, which notwithstanding its angle in the sky, would wreak havoc
with the snow before the day was done. I drove up the canyon in my Jeep... Show more content on

The two burros stood glaring at one another, and then they pawed the earth, and charged. I heard
the sound of the impact and they arced in the air like colliding locomotives, their loud, echoing
blasts resounding across the canyons, and they bit at one another in a most vicious manner,
which resulted in bloody lacerations about their bodies, then abruptly they stopped their combat
and began grazing; and all was peaceful. The Jennies, close by, some accompanied by nursing
yearlings, and older burros, regarded the two battling males with what appeared to me as casual
regard; then the black one trotted over to the herd, and mounted one of the Jennies; and the
entire herd let out a combined burro chant and charged as one, down the slope in my direction,
the coupled pair leading the way! There I stood in awe, camera with telescope lens dangling at
my side. I looked around for a route of escape, or some kind of protection, and thought of running
to my Jeep, but it was too far away, and the slope was barren of tree or boulder; I was trapped,
doomed to be trampled to death by a raging herd of wild burros. Then suddenly, as if on
command, the charging herd split and stormed by me in a thundering roar of dust and dirt, and
disappeared down a draw; and all was silent as though they had not been there, and what I had
experienced but a dream. I sat down on the ground, buried my head in my arms. An overwhelming
sensation of fear gripped me and I

Efficacy of Three Mouth Rinses in Reducing Dental Plaque...
A randomized, placebo controlled, double blinded, parallel group study was conducted for six
months among 12 to 15 year olds school children in Nellore, India. The inclusion criteria were :
1) children with permanent dentition; 2) baseline plaque index (PlI) and gingival index (GI)
scores of 2 3; 3) good general health; and 4) an ability to use a mouth rinse
Ethical Aspects
The study was performed in accordance with the guidelines of Good Clinical Practice and the
Declaration of Helsinki as revised in 2000. The institutional review board (IRB) and ethical
committee of the Narayana Dental College and Hospital gave approval for the study (IEC/NDC

Calibration
The investigator was self trained and calibrated before the study and during the course of study.
Data recording was done by a recorder who had been trained and calibrated prior to the main study.
To evaluate the intra examiner reliability, duplicate examinations were conducted at baseline, after
three months and at the end of the study. The related kappa values were 0.84, 0.92 and 0.94,
respectively.
Study outcomes
The oral examinations were performed at baseline, 3 months and 6 months. At the baseline
examination, personal information of the subjects was recorded in a specially prepared pro forma.
The children were examined on a chair by the investigator under natural light using mouth mirror
and explorer/probe. Reducion in PlI score was considered as the primary outcome and difference in
GI scores between four groups was the secondary outcome. At each intraoral examination, presence
of plaque and gingivitis was determined using the criteria suggested by Loe H.17 PlI and GI
scores were recorded on all surfaces (mesial, distal, buccal, palatal/lingual) of all the teeth. The
scores from the four areas of the tooth were added and divided by four to give the PlI/GI for the
tooth. PlI and GI for the individual is obtained by adding the indices for the teeth and dividing by
the number of teeth examined.

By 1975, four tons of cocaine had entered the US, and by 1980, 100 tons had entered

1980s, caused by anti war rallies against the Vietnam carried out by a specific group of people
commonly referred to as hippies (Gootenberg 8). Hippies are notoriously known for their
recreational uses of drugs, especially Marijuana. Around 1995, the Columbian cartels fell due to the
assassination of an important figurehead of one of the major cartels (Gootenberg 8).
Around this time, Mexican cartels rose to power. According to here are seven major Mexican
Cartels: the Sinaloa Cartel, the Gulf Cartel, the Beltran Levya Cartel, the Juarez cartel, the
Knights Templar, Los Zetas, and the Tijuana cartel. Out of all of the cartels, the most significant
is the Sinaloa cartel. El Chapo is the leader of the Sinaloa cartel. He was captured in the early
2000s, however he escaped due to police corruption. His trial has been very public, bringing
attention to the terror that is caused by the Cartels. The seven major cartels have long and
bloody histories with each other. The Tijuana cartel, also known as Arellan Felix, controlled the
Tijuana state border for many years (Bender para. 30 33). However, due to many internal murders
and assassinations by the Sinaloa Cartel, the Tijuana no longer exists as a major cartel (Bender

Phoenix Jackson The story A Worn Path, by Eudora Welty tells the story of a woman named
Phoenix Jackson, who lives in Natchez Mississippi. Phoenix has a grandson that she cares for

Phoenix had endured and witnessed her entire life. Hard work was a way of life, much like Dr.
Jackson that worked tirelessly to find a cure to save the young children who had swallowed lye,
it made her strong enough to face this encounter (Stang). In addition, it was hard work and
agility to walk along a log to cross a creek with her eyes closed, the wisdom to shimmy under
barbed wire fences without getting hung up, the endurance to go up and down hills and through
hollers, and the devotion to make the trip to the Doctors office and back (Welty). Although, in
her nineties Phoenix was strong and very capable to walk that worn path and do it with the
dignity of a grandmother that cares about her grandson. The story tells that Phoenix was a
selfless, devoted, and caring person. In addition, Dr. Jackson cared for his patients, many times

The Importance Of A Second Language Teacher
A second language teacher has a significant influence on how the learners will achieve in their
learning or fail. First and foremost, a second language teacher should understand the other language
s culture to build a communication bridge between her and the learners. Once students feel valued
and their culture is respected, they will feel motivated and try to discover the second language
enthusiastically. The effective teacher cares about a learner as a human being.
According to the Natural Approach, a teacher needs to lower the students affective filter to
minimize the degree of nervousness. Such negative feelings about the second language may block
acquisition from taking place. Therefore, the teacher can create a friendly, exciting and proper
classroom environment, where there is a low affective filter for learning. Also, the teacher can
provide the learners with group activities, games, and music to lower the emotional obstacles.
Importantly, the teacher should not put the learners in embarrassing situations or ask them to speak
before they get ready to.
As claimed in the sociocultural theory, the effective teacher should provide appropriate scaffolding
for the learners. Teacher s scaffolding role offers outstanding opportunities for the students and
helps them work collaboratively. Additionally, it enables learners to obtain a higher level than they
can attain by themselves.
Providing the learners with the correction, evaluation or feedback is crucial for both

Essay On Roe V. Wade
Prior to the landmark case of Roe vs. Wade, abortion was legal in the United States under
common law and with several stipulations. It was legal under the advice of medical personnel or in
the attempt to save a mother s life. Though abortion were widely available it was considered a
secretive and back alley procedure that threatened the life of the patient and the persons conducting
the abortion. In 1965, illegal abortions made up one sixth of all pregnancyand childbirth related
deaths. A survey conducted between 1965 and 1967 found that 8 in 10 low income women in New
York City who had an abortion attempted a dangerous self induced procedure
(planedparenthood.com).
Jane Roe (not her real name) was an unmarried woman from Texas. At the time, Texas state law
declared it a felony to conduct an abortion without the direct approval of a medical doctor. The
District Attorney of Dallas at the time was a man named Henry Wade. Roe filed a suit against Mr.
Wade and Texas State law that it was violating her Constitutional rights to choose.
It was the Supreme Court decision to overrule not only Texas s law but all laws that prohibited the
abortion of a fetus after the first trimester of a pregnancy. In a 7 2 decision they declared it was in
violation of the person s right to privacy and the Fourteenth Amendment, among others.

Why College Students Are Not Success In College
Through the years in America, more students in each generation of college are being successful
and finishing college. The latest data show that just 40 percent of Americans have finished an
associate s degree or above, while an additional 22 percent attend some college but failed to
graduate (Kelly, p.1). The 22 percent of college students who are failing to graduate, could be the
college students who are not being successful in college. There are many reasons why students are
not successful in college. Some main reasons students are not successful in college are typical
because of drugs, stress, time managementand procrastination, lack of desire and persistence and
also poor self esteem and lack of self confidence. One reason why students are not successful in
college is that of drugs. When students leave their homes to go off to college they meet new
people, and experience overjoy of new freedom. When students notice that they are experiencing
new freedom, they try new and different things. One of the main things students try that are new
and different, depending on where the student is from, are drugs. Students use drugs for a lot of
different reasons. Students use drugs to cope with stress, try to maintain course load, and they
are influenced by peer pressure. In college, drugs are taken too far once students start to use
them. Those who are enrolled in a full time college program are twice as likely to abuse drugs
and alcohol than those who don t attend college (College students and Drug Abuse). The students
who abuse drugs in college are the students that are normally not successful in college. The drugs
take over the mind and students become unfocused and behind in school work, which leads to
students failing out of college. Another reason why students are not successful in college is that of
stress. Relationships, family issues and cost of tuition are stress related factors that are dealt with a
college student. The America Institute of the street website says, a 2008 mental health study by the
Associated Press and mtvU eight in 10 college students say they have experienced stress in their
daily lives over the past three months (Stress in College Students p. 1). The college that I

Sickle Cell Disease And Its Effects
Sickle Cell Disease Sickle cell disease affects approximately 100,000 Americans and millions
across the globe (Sobota, 2015). The three most common types of sickle cell disease are Hb SS
(sickle cell anemia), Hb SC, and Hb S beta thalassemia, with Hb SS being the most common type
(Harris, 2001). Sickle cell disease occurs in individuals who inherit the mutated hemoglobin
gene, from one or both of their parents. The mutated hemoglobin, known as Hb S, crystalizes
and join together into many small cords, which form chains that look like twisted wires (Harris,
2001, p. 20). Stretched to contain the Hb S crystals, the red blood cells take on spike and sickle
shapes; this is how the name for the disease came about (Harris, 2001). Deformed, the sickled
cells have a hard time moving through the blood stream and can eventually pile up in the blood
vessels, having life threatening consequences. Although oxygen can reverse the sickling process
in cells, turning Hb S back into a liquid, after a few sicklings the red blood cells membrane is
permanently damaged and the cell will remain sickled. The History of Sickle Cell Disease
American physician James Herrick was the first to describe sickle cell disease. In 1910, Herrick
observed peculiar elongated and sickle shaped red blood corpuscles in the blood film of a West
Indian student suffering from leg ulcers, shortness of breath, and jaundice (Chakravorty Williams,
2015, p. 48). In 1922, three more similar case were observed and

Example Of Piracy Research Paper
Pirates are criminals who steal vessels, people and goods on the sea and coastal areas. Privateers
were privately owned ships that captured sea trade under orders from various governments.
Buccaneers were government sponsored pirate crews who attacked Spanish ships in the Caribbean
during the 17th century. Terms privateers and buccaneers are today both synonyms for piracy. The
earliest example of piracy is recorded in 14th century BC Mediterranean.
First, a pirate attack that significantly endangered any country was pirate attacks on Olympos in
3rd century BC. Earliest pirates came from first nations who used the ocean for commerce
Illyrians, Tyrrhenians, Greeks, and Romans. A pirate who served as the largest motivation for
generations of other pirates after him was Henry Every, English pirate who managed not only to

two such events were ever verified, one by English captain Francis Drake, who buried cargo of

women. But several managed to rise to prominence, most notably Anne Bonny and Mary Read,
who served together on a pirate ship. Anne Bonny was in the relationship with pirate Captain
Calico Jack Rackham, who was caught and hanged in 1720. Mary Read died in prison from fever,

Detailed Questions and Answers on Bud Not Buddy by...
Title: Bud, Not Buddy Author: Christopher Paul Curtis Detailed Description of Setting: This
story takes place in Flint and Grand Rapids, Michigan, during the middle of the Great
Depression. The Great Depression was a really bad worldwide economic recession throughout
the 1930 s, which caused high unemployment for adults and homelessness for many children.
Bud not Buddy Caldwell is the main character and is a ten year old African American boy who
lives in Flint, Michigan. Bud has been staying in orphanages and several foster homes since his
mother died four years earlier when he was six. Bud never knew his father. The few items Bud
has left to remember his mother are a bag of rocks, a photograph of his mother as a child and
fliers that show Herman E. Calloway and his jazz band, the Dusky Devastators of the
Depression. He keeps them in an old suitcase. Bud thinks that Herman Callaway is his father and
goes on the lam to try to find him. He meets many people and gets into many adventures along
the way. Eventually, his journey leads him to Grand Rapids, Michigan, and the jazz clubs where
Herman and his band play. Questions: 1.What is the central theme of the book? How was it
developed? Response: I think the central theme of the book is the importance of family. Bud s

My Mother, If She Had Won Free Dance Lessons And The Cab...
Many stereotypes that address different types of people exist today. Stereotypes are popular,
fixed, and oversimplified ideas that are typically associated with particular demographics. These
ideas can be viewed negatively or positively. Stereotypes may foster or perpetuate
misconceptions about some demographics. In the poems, My Mother, If She Had Won Free
Dance Lessons and The Cab Driver Who Ripped Me Off, both written by Cornelius Eady,
contain characters who are susceptible to misconceptions and prejudices due to their personal
experiences. In My Mother, If She Had Won Free Dance Lessons, the speaker discusses his
mother s condition and how their lives could have been different if she had become a dancer.
Unfortunately, she was unable to pursue that career. Now, she spends her day doing absolutely
nothing ( Line 8). This is one of the reasons why he refers to her as the neighborhood crazy lady (
Line 6). Seeing his mother in this state causes the speaker to wonder what life would be like if
she was given the opportunity to dance in stanzas 3 6 ( Lines 20 40). In another poem, written by
Eady titled, The Cab Driver Who Ripped Me Off, the speaker tells the listener about an encounter
with a cab driver with prejudice. The cab driver was criticizing people who make money through
unconventional means such as scamming. Meanwhile, the cab driver was also scamming the
speaker by taking a round a bound way which increases the fare. In both of the texts, the

else. For example, empty pockets can be used as a symbol to describe not having any money. It
can be used in many different ways and forms. Symbols are used everyday and time are really
hard to notice what they truly mean. The following poems all use different symbols, but all stand
for deception the poems are Traveling Through the Dark by William Stafford, We Wear the Mask
by Paul Laurence Dunbar, Richard Cory by Edwin Arlington Robinson, and The Lotteryby Shirley
Jackson.
To begin with, the poem Traveling Through the Dark the car is symbolized as death. In real life
time a car is used as a form of transportation, but can also bring death to those involved in an
accident. The narrator states, Traveling though the dark I found a deer dead on the edge of the
Wilson river road (lines1 2). He says that he has found a dead deer on by the river that another
car might have hit before. This car that the narrator is in come be a sign of death coming again
to a unborn baby. He says, . . . then pushed her over the edge into the river (line18). After finding
the dead deer he decides to move the deer to prevent another accident, later to find out that an
unborn is still alive. He makes his way towards a cliff pushing off the dead and now dead baby
fawn to dispose of the bodies. Nordstrom comments, the car is certainly described as a death
bringer (Nordstrom). Nordstrom understands that death is disguised by a car and as the car
approaches the deer, its death making its way again. Next the poem named We Wear the Mask
deals with what slaves would relate to during the slavery having to cover up their true feelings.
A mask is used as a symbol as it is used to hide the true feelings of those who are in grief and
sorrow. In the poem it states, We wear the mask that grins and lies . . . (line 1). Right off the bat
the writer agrees to wearing a mask that does not show true emotions. The writer is most likely not
willing to show his or her true feelings, because during the time slaves were not supposed to be
happy and were not

History Of Huckleberry Finn
Literature changes history. Some works identify cultural criticism. Some works show how the past
illuminates and shapes the present. Some works critique the American dream. These masterpieces
educate, scold, and entertain an audience simultaneously. Samuel Clemens, more popularly known

This tale of adventure, work of comic satire, sarcasm, and social ridicule which stands as an sincere

He wants to rescue Jim in the easiest, most realistic way. While, Tom, a romantic, cannot accept.
For him, Jim s escape requires a big show, riddled with illogical tactics that just make the situation
more complicated than needed. For many readers, Tom s elaborate prank and Huck s willingness
to delay Jim s freedom greatly undermines the morality of the novel. The entire adventure on the
Mississippi becomes obsolete in terms of Jim s escape from slavery. However, such inconsistencies,
irony, and satire are congruent to picaresque genre and furthermore demonstrates a social
commentary regarding a postbellum era of continued enslavement of freed AfricanВ Americans by
means of elaborate schemes and trickery (Dahlstrom 1).
Huck agrees to Tom s outlandish plans out of exasperation. He wants to satisfy his friend. The
inconsistencies are to further the story and create interest. Huck s plan included smart, quick
moves, nothing interesting to capture and keep a reader s attention. Jim, who symbolizes all
slaves, struggles for freedom like slaves of the time period struggle for freedom. The tricks played

secondary school, I was a typical college student attending the city level chemistry competition and
winning many medal prizes for the school. Up to the high school, continue learning, I used to wish
that I could set up a chemistry club to share my passion about chemistry for every student at my

apparatus to make further framework check at the RTL level. Outline blend is performed with
Xilinx s XST and the entryway level netlist is gotten. After that, place and steering are
performed. The steering deferrals are back commented to the entryway level netlist for timing
examination and configuration advancement. At long last, a bitstream is created to program the
objective FPGA board. The proposed work is actualized on a Xilinx XUPV5 LX110T

Essay about Vocational Teacher Education Reform
Vocational Teacher Education Reform
The reform movements of the 1980s triggered numerous demands to reexamine and reform the way
students and their teachers are educated. This Digest examines the implications for vocational
teacher education emerging from general teacher education reform movements. It discusses how
excellence in vocational education teaching can be achieved and proposes 21st century models for
vocational teacher education.
Impacts of Reform Movements on Vocational Teacher Education
Several of the major reform initiatives of the 1980s and early 1990s argued that improving
education requires improving teacher quality and, accordingly, teacher education. Numerous
changes in teacher recruitment, preparation, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In response to mounting evidence of the deterioration of vocational teacher education, (Dykman
1993), the University Council for Vocational Education and the National Association of State
Directors of Vocational Technical Education Consortium formed a joint task force that identified 13
points for initiating a reform process entailing designing and implementing a customer driven
learning system and an accountability system (Lynch 1997). Like earlier publications examining
general teacher education, the responses to the task force report focused on the need for excellence
in vocational teacher education.
Issues in Achieving Excellence
Debate on the question of how to pursue excellence in vocational teacher education programs
focused on vocational education s mission, audience, and delivery.
New Mission? Until the advent of the reform movement, vocational education had been viewed
as a separate system of education intended to meet the nation s labor needs by providing below
college level training for specific occupations (Lynch 1997). In the late 1980s, that view began to
change. Borrowing words used by Dewey in 1916, Tozer and Nelson (1988) urge vocational
teacher educators to teach prospective teachers to provide students with generalizable higher order
skills by teaching through vocations instead of for vocations (p. 22). Sharp (1996), in his discussion
of the transition to a post Fordist economy, asserts that the recent

Analysis Of Kaitlyn Truongcatcalled Roscoe s House Of...
Kaitlyn TruongCatcalled Roscoe s House of Chicken and Waffles was always my favorite place
to eat until I was followed by two strangers. In the summer of 2013, my best friend Janelle and I
went to Huntington Beach to celebrate her passing the driver s license exam. Janelle is a light
skinned, blonde, 5 1 teenage girl. The weather at the beach was almost perfect not too hot and
not too cold. The extremely soft sand felt great in between our toes while walking along the
neverending palm trees. We spent the whole day gossiping about boys, running aways from
seagulls, and tanning under the warm sun. After watching an exquisite sunset filled with red,
orange, and yellow skies, we decided to eat at our favorite restaurant in downtown Anaheim.
Anaheim was only a twenty minute drive from our hometown, Anaheim Hills, but it had a
completely different atmosphere. Anaheim Hills is a safe and affluent city while Anaheim is a
poorer city with higher crime rates. Roscoe s was always packed on a Saturday night and it was
not any different that weekend. After driving around the small parking lot multiple times, we
were forced to park in a random parking structures that was a mile and a half away. We put on
our high school sweatshirt and started the long walk. As we walked out of the parking structure,
we heard two voices yell HEY, YOU TWO ARE BEAUTIFUL! Shocked and surprised, we turned
around to see two dark and tattooed men. The men must have been at least ten years older than us.

The following is a case study analysis of Duckworth Industries, in particular the company?s

covered in the case and what problems does each plan solve? Mr. Duckworth believed in the power
of incentive to guide management action. In order to better align the interest of the management
with the shareholders, Mr. Duckworth implemented a variety of new incentive compensation
programs: The first incentive program implemented addressed tardiness and attendance. Basically,
under this plan an attendance bonus ($0.60/hour) would be awarded to any plant level employee

The EVA is calculated annually for each business unit by using a formula that ?automatically
adjusts the baseline for calculating next year?s bonus to reflect the actual performance of the
prior year? (Duckworth Case, UOP). Therefore, since employees? bonus is tied directly to this
formula, and the formula is based on the performance of the prior year in the old department, it
will be difficult to get an accurate bonus figure for the employee?s first year in the new unit. 4.)
How should an incentive compensation plan adopted by a firm relate to its industry type, market
stability, and to the economic health of the firm? Regardless of the industry, an incentive
compensation plan needs to have realistic goals that management can achieve. An incentive
compensation plan needs to ensure that the bonuses paid out do not have a negative impact on the
economic health of the company. If a bonus is scaled to revenue growth, the bonuses paid out may
reduce the overall profitability of a company. Additionally, in unstable markets, it may be
impossible to achieve revenue growth goals for a period of time. In an unstable market, a company
may not reach their sales revenues, but they may outperform their peer companies. In the case
study, Duckworth searched to implement an incentive plan that drives senior management to create
wealth. Using a plan like EVA, a company doesn?t need to worry about industry type, market
stability, and economic health. Since EVA goals are

Examples Of Digging By Seamus Heaney
Death of a Naturalist was concerned with the notion of growing up and loss of innocence.
Seamus Heaney describes the childhood experience differently as the child grows and changes
perception of nature from love to fear. Similarly, in Digging , Heaney presents himself as a child
who studies through writing, in contrast to his father and his grandfather who dig into the ground.
Heaney s father and grandfather use their shovels to work with the land, while Heaney uses his
pen to write poetries. It is clear that Heaney is not going to follow his father s legacy, digging , he
is going to have a different profession.

John Smith in Jamestown Essay
John Smith in Jamestown
The leadership strengths and weaknesses of John Smith evoked a profound effect on the
Jamestown colony. The fact that Smith actually arrived in the colony as a common prisoner and
was able to achieve the leadership role that he gained is amazing. His creativity and knowledge in
certain areas actually saved the colonists from attack and starvation in the early days. Some of the
rules he enforced as a leader were actually instrumental in saving the colony. His skill in dealing
with the natives allowed him to gain their support and continue trade that resulted in the survival of
the colony.

The colonists were desperate for food because it was the middle of winter. The raid failed
because early German settlers that eventually joined the natives, warned them in advance about
the attack. After the failed raid, Smith returned to the fort to find the food storage infested with
rats and worms. By this time, Ratcliffe had been put under arrest and John Smith had become
the president. As president, he then created a rule to make all of the colonists work, or pay the
consequences. Smith called an assembly and stated, He that will not work shall not eat. (Price
108) The law means if a man does not do any work, he will not get any food. By implementing this
law, Smith ensured that most, if not all, of the colonists would do their own share of the work that
needed to be done. With the new work effort of the colonists, twenty houses were built, a well was
dug, and thirty to forty acres of crops were planted. All of that was accomplished in three months.
Once again, John Smith had saved the Jamestown settlement.
Shortly after Smith introduced his He that will not work shall not eat law, the colony s new
stock of food again became infested with rats. Smith had studied different tactics for years while
he lived alone in his cabin. He developed a plan for how to handle this situation. Smith took a
divide and survive approach when their food ran low by dispersing into small groups. (Price 109)

Stereotypes Of The American Dream
We often refer to the U.S as a country of immigrants. Because there are so many different people
from all over the world, it is hard to identify what the typical American is like. When you think of
the USA, some stereotypes will probably come to mind they love hamburgers, listen to country
music, each own their own guns and are probably fat. However, does this stereotype fit everybody?
It is often said that America is a country built on freedom, which is quite ironic considering the way
the Europeans stole the land from the Native Americans and the country is built upon the backs of
black slaves. What many Americans have in common is that they believe in the American Dream.

another region, El Norte has been influenced by the Hispanics and has taken some important

the indigenous people of America. They were the first people of America and are worth mentioning
when discussing who the Americans are today. Native Americans have their own traditions and
beliefs. Unfortunately, the white settlers have mistreated them and because of that, many have lost
a part of their culture and those who do not live in reservations have had to adjust to the more

Infertility Treatment Essay
4 Types Of Infertility Treatment
Diagnosis is the first step in the road to infertility treatment. Both parties have to be examined
physically and tested to pinpoint why they are unable to conceive. Once the cause(s) of the
infertility has been identified, there are 4 typical infertility treatments which include, structural
treatment, hormone therapy, technologies for artificial reproduction and possibly alternative
therapies.
Structural Treatments
These are often the simplest to resolve. The treatment for structural infertility often requires some
kind of surgery to fix any blockages or irregularities in the reproductive system of either partner.
Hormone Therapy
There are two objectives in hormone therapy. Objective number one is to stimulate ovulation or
production ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The technologies have a number of differences. With artificial insemination, the man s or a donor
s sperm could be used. Invitro fertilization might use the woman s egg along with man s sperm, or
possibly one or two donors. Intracytoplasmic sperm injection may consist of biopsy at a cellular
level or genetic analysis which could be augmented by assisted hatching.
These terms might not be familiar and the procedures are complex. When using ART for infertility
treatment, there are a number of options.
ART is usually the most controversial of the infertility treatments and each procedure faces moral
and ethical issues. Coples will have to deal with these issues and figure out if it is the right
approach for them. There is often no single right solution.
Alternative Therapies
Alternative therapies are becoming increasingly popular in the fertility treatment sector. Even
naysayers are believing that fertility can be improved with the use of yoga, acupuncture and
massage. A number of fertility clinics include massage and acupuncture in their infertility

Ap Euro Peasant Rebellion Comparision Essays
DBQ: Peasants revolts
From 1524 to 1526 peasant revolts were occurring throughout the German states. Many causes
and responses brewed out of these revolts. One cause is from religion issues (1,3,6) , Luther s
idea of equality. Another cause is the peasant gaining power (2,8,9). As a result of these causes
came out response, the most common response was riots and chaos (5,11,7). These revolts would
end in thousands of rebel deaths and others are also killed.
In the early 1500s religious reforms were constant throughout all of Germany, including the ideas of
Martin Luther. Martin Luther brought the idea of equality to the peasants (1,3,6) , which in term

This document is written by peasants hence the encouragement for the revolt, although Lotzer
might be saying this so that we may be the leader of this revolt and he is a craftsman so this
might get more people to notice his craft, he then gains more money. Document 8 is the
complete opposite perspective of the peasants gaining power and the revolt. Lorenz Fries is a
catholic archbishop and the revolts are driven out of Luther s doctrines. He said that the peasants
are troublesome and the revolt should be stopped, but he most likely said this to get people to turn
their backs on Lutheranism and accept Catholicism. Although his report is a secret one so he
probably wrote it secretly so that he would not be killed or hurt by the peasant s rebellion. In
document 9, Caspar Nutzel, a noble, says that the peasants were blinded and they have gotten too
strong. This document is also a response in that people have allowed the revolts to happen and the
peasants have gone too far. Though this document should be approached with caution because he
uses some absolute language in the regard to how the peasants act, and Nutzel might be stating this
to keep his job as town councilor.
The most common response to the revolts was chaos and rioting (5,11,7). In document 5, a
theologian/journalist states what happened at Weinsburg when the peasants arrived there.

Pros And Cons Of Using Unsecured Loans To Pay Off Debt
Using unsecured loans to pay off debt is probably not a good idea, but there are clear exceptions to
this so you really have to consider your situation thoroughly.
Generally speaking it s not a good plan because when you don t offer up any kind of collateral and
borrow money your interest rates will be considerably higher. That mixed in with the fact that your
credit may not be so great because of the debt problems you re having and then you have a very
high interest rate. It takes a lot longer to get out of debt if the interest keeps adding to it and
making things worse.
There are exceptions to this of course because a lot of debts have such high interest rates like
credit card debt, payday loans, etc that any rate you are offered on

Contributions Of British Politics And The Liberal...
What have been the major contributions to British politics offered by the Liberal Democrats over
the last three decades?
The Liberal Democrats have played an active part in the world of British politics over the last
thirty years, in a variety of roles as a third party and as members of the conservative/liberal
coalition. To truly consider the major contributions of such a party it is necessary to consider the
variety of ideological and policy stances taken by the party and their effects on British politics.
Stances for consideration in this essay include the Liberal democrats strong stance on the protection

Committed efforts to promote the EU by Clegg against the more eurosceptic narrative created by
the Conservatives would have contributed far more to the image of the European Union within
British politics, and could have affected the image of Europe during the referendum. This lack of
commitment during the coalition by the Liberal Democrats was heavily criticised by their ex leader
Lord Ashdown at the Centre Forum think tank when he questioned ... why has Britain s only truly
internationalist party ... abandoned our internationalism? (BBC News, 2012).
The Liberal Democrats are well known for their commitment to community politics, and in a
political landscape which is moving further and further towards a national policy focus this
commitment is arguably a major contribution. With many of the strongest periods for the party s
local politics being periods of otherwise decline, notable of which being the 1999 Eastbourne by
election and the recent 22 (at time of writing) council seats gained under Farron since May, their
moves towards community politics could be seen as a ploy, however due to the strong party
community campaigning heritage it is difficult to see this as the case.

Nannies Maids And Sex Workers In The New Economy Summary
In the text Nannies, Maids, and Sex Workers in the New Economy, Barbara Ehrenreich and Arlie
Russell Hochschild argue that women from third world countries have to leave their homes and go
to developed countries in order to provide for their families. When these women move so far away
their familybond is affected and their children miss out on the love and affection they need. These
women also run the risk of getting paid little for their work, being manipulated by their bosses,
and also having to become sex workers for them so they don t run the risk of losing their jobs.
In the text Nannies, Maids, and Sex Workers in the New Economy by Barbara Ehrenreich and
Arlie Russell Hochschild discusses the underlying issue of why these women are forced to leave
their homes and go to developed countries to work. The issue is that there is not enough money in
the third world countries because all the goods have been taken by developed countries. During

Country Club Golf Degree
During the high school summers, I worked on a country club golf course. My job mainly
consisted of greeting the members as they came to golf, clean their clubs, and wash the carts. I
was basically the face of the country club golf operations. Many members are regular golfers
whom come by the club multiple times a week. Through the years, I met and formed really close
friendships with a select few members. These members collectively decided to take me under their
wing. This was around the time I was applying for colleges. Through our many conversations, and
learningabout their lives (they are both in the business field), I changed my intended major from
chemistry to finance, and switched my intended school from the out of state University of
Michigan to the in state Indiana University. These men have influenced my life so significantly, I
would not be where I am today without them. Because of this experience, I hope to mentor an
ambitious, young student one day.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Often times, inspiration gives an individual motivation to complete a task/problem. When a
problem is complex enough, it may take a few days to find a solution. Inspiration is a sudden
insight, or source of creativity. It is a possible solution to a problem or a strong emotion to
complete a certain task. Motivation is the desire to dedicate time to a specific task. My personal
inspiration is to achieve something great, which I belief contributes to how motivated I am towards
my academics. I want to impact the world in some positive way, and I know I will only achieve
this if I stay motivated. So far, this system has worked out. Rarely have I dedicated a lot of time to

The Effect Of Breastfeeding On Ovarian And Breast Cancer...
Introduction
Since some years, there has been fundamental shift in infant nutrition research due to increasing
evidence that the role of early nutrition during this vital period of life has deep biological effects
and has an important consequence both in long and short term health (Fewtrell 2007).
The research that has been done in this area offers strong evidence that human milk feeding
decreases the severity and incidence of a vast range of infectious diseases (Garner 1997). There are
many benefits of breastfeeding reduces the ovarian and breast cancer risks and a reduction in other
types of systemic health such as obesity, overweight, asthma and morbidity. In this way
breastfeeding also becomes one of the main causes of benefits for the mothers (Horta 2013).
In their report, WHO also recommends the exclusive breastfeeding until the infant is six months
old. They further, recommend that the children should consume breastfeeding complemented with
food intake until they are two years old (Horta 2013).
Formula fed vs. Breastfed
The evidence that is present regarding the infant feeding as a risk factor for dental caries in
inconsistent in many ways. The risk regarding dental caries is closely related to carbohydrate
content in breast milk besides the factors that decide the length of contact between the erupted
dentition and the breast milk (Danielsson 2009).
In contrast to formula, breast milk contains breast specific Lactobacilli and other substances that
include secretory

The Evolution Of Micro Finance
CHAPTER 3: THE EVOLUTION OF MICRO FINANCE IN NIGERIA
3.0. Introduction:
In this section the need for Microfinance is discussed; the emergence and development of
microfinance in Nigeria is also reviewed. Finally the chapter discuss the ownership and
beneficiaries of microfinance in Nigeria.
3.1. The Need for Microfinance:
The unwillingness or inability of the formal financial institutions to provide financial services to the
urban and rural poor, coupled with the un sustainability of government sponsored development
financial schemes contributed to the growth of private sector led microfinance in Nigeria. Before
the emergence of formal microfinance institutions, informal microfinance activities flourished all
over the country. Informal microfinance is provided by traditional groups that work together for the
mutual benefits of their members. These groups provide savings and credit services to their
members. The informal microfinance arrangements operate under different names: esusu among
the Yorubas of Western Nigeria, etoto for the Igbos in the East and adashi in the North for the
Hausas (CBN, 2000). The key features of these informal schemes are savings and credit
components, informality of operations and higher interest rates in relation to the formal banking
sector.
The informal associations that operate traditional microfinance in various forms are found in all the
rural communities in Nigeria (Otu, et al, 2003) . They also operate in the urban centers. The

The And Benefits Of A Behavioral Strategy
1. When comparing two behavioral types in simple terms what determines the relative costs and
benefits of a behavioral strategy (when compared to another option)? The environment determines
the relative costs and benefits of a behavioral strategy.
2. Can the costs and benefits of strategies change over time? Answer YES or NO, and then in
simple terms using no more than 1 sentence explain why or why not. Yes, the costs and benefits of
strategies can change over time, because the environment can change over time.

Include how changes in the environment might shift the decision. How your voice compares to
other callers, the number of satellites that already exist per caller, and the number of predators
around would all influence Harry s decision to become a satellite or caller. If an environmental
shift were to occur in which the majority of frogs were small and unable to call, it would be
beneficial for Harry to become a caller, as a medium sized frog, because someone has to call in
order to attract the females. If a different shift in environment occurred in which all frogs were
large and chose to call, it would be beneficial for Harry to become a satellite, because there would
be very few other satellites with which Harry would have to compete for females with.
6D. Which of these factors do not involve assessing what other frogs are actually doing? Of the
above factors, Harry s voice does not involve assessing what other frogs are actually doing, because
Harry knows his relative size, and therefore his calling ability.
The comparative method = can earn up to 2 points
7. What is a hypothesis? A hypothesis makes a prediction.
8. What is the basic logic of the comparative method? Answer using no more than 1 2 sentences.
The comparative method tests adaptionist hypotheses, by looking at a variety of species under the
same environmental pressures. It is expected that a trait should evolve in distantly related species

On December , I was arrested for 3rd degree criminal trespassing. That day I was heading to go see
my dad at the hospital. He had suffered his second stroke and doctors wanted to talk about what
is possible for him since he was hooked on machines and unable to move or communicate in
anyway for himself, i was also his power of attorney so i would speak for him. I was focused on
nothing more than seeing my dad, but first i had to drop off my friend s shoes she had let me
borrow. Along the way i saw a walmart and i had not eaten all day and thoughti could go in to get
some snacks and a smoothie for my dad. I called my friend to come pick me up at the walmart
instead and drive me to the hospital. She didn t live far so i thought by the time i came out the
store she would have already been outside waiting for me, but that wasn t the case. My phone
had died at that point so i had no way of calling her to let her know where i would be, so i decided
to sit in front of the store where she could see me since the bench inside was taken by a woman
and her kids. 5 minutes later an officer came asking me what i was doing there. I explained to
him that i was waiting for a friend to come pick me up and that she ll be here soon. He said okay
but then proceeded to ask me questions like how many times have I been arrested or how long i
have been away from home or rather or not i bought the items in my bag. I didn t understand why

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Deviance
Deviance is generally a phenomenon of deviating from the existing social norms. It basically
depends on the society and the culture or group they belong to and not on the act that they
perform. Therefore, it is relative and not person or individual specific. According to sociologists,
a specific act to which people do not abide by and react in an opposite manner is referred to as a
deviant act. Thus, it can be said that all individuals who do not obey the rules and regulations are
deviants. According to a sociologist, Erving Goffman, a person s status is defined by one specific
quality or attribute which becomes his master status and all other characteristics of the person are
ignored. This one quality that becomes his master status is referred... Show more content on

In order to achieve certain goals, people sometimes tend to be deviants because access to easier
means is all it takes to decide for a person to become a deviant or not. According to Emile
Durkheim, deviance brings in social order and unity. Hence, deviance is functional. It helps
decide and clear the boundaries of a society and norms as to how people should think and act.
One major advantage of deviance is that it helps in bringing a chance in the society which can
be a positive one. if majority of the people follow the same deviant act, it becomes a permanent
change with new behaviors and conduct in a society. As explained by the Strain theory which
was given by Robert Merton, there are cases when the goal of the individuals is a moral and
cultural goal but the means to achieve the specific goal is immoral or is not legitimate. Basically
there is a strain that people experience when they wish to achieve a certain goal which can only
be accomplished by unfair means. The team for this kind of a strain used by Merton is anomie
which was coined by Durkheim. To achieve a certain cultural goal, there are five kinds of
reactions. One is by directly following all the rules and regulations and achieving the goals. The
rest of them are the deviant means including innovative ideas, ritualism which means sacrificing the
goals in order to maintain the proper code of

Epic Poem Parody
In the world of literature and poetry, it s typically not hard to find something written about a
hero, or something heroic, like an epic. Epics are long poems, typically told orally in ancient
times, about the adventures of a hero or heroine and their deeds. The Iliad should immediately
come to the mind of any student proficient in western literature. Nonetheless, the themes and
archetypes of these works known as epics are so well known, that they are even parodied, take
completely out of context, and pasted on the wall for laughs. One of the most recognized
parodies of this kind would be Alexander Pope s The Rape of the Lock. The Rape of the Lock is
a story about taking a minor incident and satirizing it by making it into a huge and important epic
of divine proportions. One might think of the phrase a tempest in a teapot , which perfectly
describes this poem. In the poem, the main character, a girl named Belinda, has her hair
unwillingly cut by a baron, and the struggle to regain her lost hair even pulls in mythical creatures
like sylphs to describe this epic poem. Pope was actually asked to write something like this in order
to reconcile two Catholic families, as the hair cutting fiasco was based off a real event that caused
bad blood between the two aforementioned families. The man who requested the poem, John
Caryll, hoped that if the two families could laugh about the whole thing, they would put the whole
thing behind them and end their estrangement (Rippy, n.p.).

Analysis Of This Way For The Gas Ladies And Gentlemen
This Way for the Gas, Ladies and Gentlemen by Tadeusz Borowski, published in 1959, is a short
story about a concentration camp prisoner s experience working on Canada, the group of
inmates responsible for helping unload the incoming prisoner transports. The narrator bares
witness to many atrocities throughout the story, which are made more impactful to the reader
through Borowski s use of impactful dialogue, figurative language, casual and matter of fact
tone, and repetition. These literary elements allow Borowski to draw the reader in more than he
would otherwise, and make them feel almost as if they are experiencing the horrors along with
him. With few exceptions, every line of dialogue in the passage starts on it s own new line. This,
combined with a lack of says or said in most cases, gives the dialogue a pointed and natural
feeling. This has a couple of effects on the reader. First, it allows the reader to be more invested
in the characters and the narrative that is playing out. They are able to feel closer to the action
because of a lack of Henri said or I said getting in the way every line. This helps with the flow of
the story while it is being consumed. For example, Schade, too bad. Come, come, Herr Posten, isn
t my word good enough any more? Haven t we done business before? How much? One hundred.
Gemacht? Gemacht. (698) The dialogue above is casual and welcoming. In context, when the
reader is aware it is a conversation between two characters, it

The Effect Of Oxytocin On The Behavior Of People With...
Research Article Review
In this study, researchers analyzed the effect oxytocin has on the behavior of people with autism. It
is known that individuals with autism can not function socially the same as individuals without
autism. Our brains are made with the ability to respond to the social behaviors of others with our
own social skills. Autistic people have difficult time in social situations because they have a low
deficiency of oxytocin, which aides in social behavior. Oxytocin is a hormone known to promote
mother infant bonding, synthesized in the hypothalamus, but may also be known to help with the
social deficit of autism (Andari et al. 2010). Plasma oxytocin levels are much lower in individuals
with autism rather than the controlled subjects. It is also known that oxytocin is involved in the
development of social behavior. Regarding that information, researchers made the hypothesis
which has implicated oxytocin in the etiology of autism, and particular in the social disorders
that are the hallmark of HF ASD (Andari et al. 2010). These researchers believe oxytocin plays a
big role in the social behavior of autistic individuals. They observed that high levels of oxytocin is
associated with plasma samples, advising that the way this hormone is produced ties in with autism.
Researchers in this study were eager to determine the effect of oxytocin on individuals with autism
and how it could modify patients with higher functioning skills to process social signals and

Joanne s Political Cartoon Analysis
I found Joanne s political cartoon extremely relevant to current events and policy debates. The
cartoon depicts a sheriff and a Texan standing in chest deep water. In the background are farm
animals huddled on the top of a roof in order to prevent drowning, and a large billboard allowing
the audience to know the setting is in TEXAS . However, the most vital part of the cartoon is the
sheriff s line above him, It s not global warming. This water s cold, which parallels the steady
position of the Republican party on climate change. Even when the water is about to flood both
individuals, the Texas sheriff is solid in his claim against global warming and will not budge.
This sentiment against climate protection has evolved over the years. Over

Count Of Monte Cristo Revenge Quotes
Did the Count of Monte Cristo get complete revenge? Edmond DantГ©s was framed and put in
jail for 14 years. He later found out that Fernand, Danglars, and Caderousse were behind it.
Villefort was also an accomplice. He vowed vengeance and he spent most of his life leading up
to that revenge. When he finally gets his revenge he is confused on why he does not feel all that
accomplished. Edmond DantГ©s did get complete revenge because he believes he has gotten
revenge, he lived well, and because his actions fit the definition of revenge. First, Edmond
believes he has gotten revenge. He tells Mercedes that, God brought me back from the living
dead to punish them! And I will have my revenge! so he believes that he is carrying out justice
(Dumas, page 377). After his revenge is carried out he is confused about why he feels guilty and
why he does not feel fulfilled. He starts to wonder if he has done wrong because of his revenge.
Then when Haydee confesses her love for him he exclaims, God, who raised me up against my
enemies and made me victorious, didn t want me to have this penance at the end of my victory. I
wanted to punish myself, but God wishes to forgive me! (Dumas page 529). He believes that his
revenge has been carried out and he is satisfied with it. If he believes he has gotten revenge then he

  • 2. George Rush St-Pierre s Case Not even financial woes concerning UFC 217 s ticket sales could divert George Rush St Pierre s (GSP) attention to his goal of defeating Michael The Count Bisping and having the UFC middleweight championship belt wrapped around his waist on November 4 at Madison Square Garden. MMA Junkie relayed GSP s statement that he would rather win his fight and make zero dollars than the other way around by losing his fight and earning his profit. According to UFC commentator Joe Rogan, the pay per view s ticket sales are not going well as expected, yet UFC President Dana White explained that GSP required a reintroduction to the sport s followers after a long layoff. In the end, only live gate and pay per view figures will determine UFC 217 s success. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Ethnography Essays Ethnography Introduction Beginning with the early stages of savagery to the complex civilizations in the 21st century, the need to compete remains an important aspect in the continual evolution of mankind. Competition took various forms throughout history from the bloody attempts to kill a mammoth in order to provide nourishment, to the violent battles between two opposing sides taking place on college football fields every Saturday afternoon. Another form of competition involving severe contact on a scale par with football is the sport of rugby. My personal history with the sport began in a medium sized island in Polynesia. I lived and worked in New Zealand during the summer of 1999, between my sophomore and junior year. This little ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From my research I discovered three conflicting themes, and my theory behind these themes is based upon structural analysis. This ethnography will also reveal some of the methodological questions discussed in class, specifically, replicability, critical dialogue, reflexivity, and globalization. Interestingly, I found a way to connect three out of the four methodological issues to the conflicting themes gathered in my research. For example, critical dialogue links to the contradiction between playfulness and competiveness, reflexivity to upper and lower classes, and globalization to Englishness and Americaness. My point of departure, however, will begin with a basic introduction to the history and rules of rugby. This will enable my non rugby playing readers (i.e. Joel, William, Bashira, etc.) to gain general background knowledge on the sport before they become acquainted with the Occidental rugby culture. Rugby s Tale Legend has it that a young English boy picked up a soccer ball during a match at Rugby School. Picking up the ball is a clear violation in soccer unless the player is the goalie; but the illegality proved popular and led to the sport of rugby. In 1846, the school later published the rules of rugby. England, Scotland, and Whales picked the game up quickly and developed leagues for the new sport. The spread of rugby to outside the island ... • 5. The Problem Of Teenage Crime Teenage crime is a very important problem that the united states is facing these days. It erodes our country economically and morally. The government, along with parents are still trying to come up with a solution to this international problem. Rising aggression, especially among teenagers is very harmful to the society as a whole, and their reasons behind this are more compound and more complex then we could ever imagine. The majority of Crimes committed by teenagers includes gang violence, theft, assault and even murder. The most important factors that trigger these teens to commit these acts are their family life, media, and the collapse of their community. Family conditions proved to be a direct effect on a teenager s behavior. Positive family environments provide a strong base for the development of a child. From the very first years, a child s development and the way they act are influenced by the environment they encounter. Whenever a teenager isn t getting the right support needed, they often turn to acts of violence to get their parents attention or let out their aggression from their inner feelings. living in a dysfunctional household where everything is unstable and the family lives a transient lifestyle, they often move around and aren t stable enough to stay in one place. When this happens there are greater risks of the teen dropping out of school and they then become bored and run the streets and the streets often lead them to hanging with the ... • 6. Ancient Druids Very little is known about the ancient druids. They left no written accounts of themselves, and the only evidence is a few descriptions left by Greek, Roman, and various scattered authors and artists, as well as stories created by later medieval Irish writers [4] Druids concern themselves with divine affairs, managing public and private sacrifices and interpreting matters of religion. [1] A great number of young men gather about them to learn and hold them in great honor. In fact, it is they who decide in almost all disputes, public and private; and if any crime has been committed, or murder done, or there is any dispute about succession or boundaries, they also decide it, determining rewards and penalties: if any person or people does not abide by their decision, they ban such from sacrifice, which is their heaviest penalty. I believe that they have adopted this practice for two reasons: that they don t want their teaching to become common knowledge, nor do they desire for those who learn the rule to rely on writing and so neglect the cultivation of the memory. It does usually happen that the assistance of writing tends to relax the diligence of the student and the action of the memory. • 8. The Pros And Cons Of The Prohibition Era The Prohibition Era, 1920 1933, was a time of turmoil and conflict as the ban of alcohol brought with it the growth of organized crime in United States. The nationwide prohibition of alcohol was introduced to solve social issues and most significantly, lower crime and corruption. Initially established due to nationwide Temperance movements stating that banning alcohol would decrease crime, however the banning of alcohol led to increased organized crime. Organized crime in America grew during Prohibition due to the mafia, gangs and the mob utilizing the public demand for alcohol for their own economic gain, bootlegging alcohol, using extortion and violence, all in is larger quantities than was present before the 18th Amendment was passed. A Public demand for alcohol and lack of enforcement of the 18th Amendment led to such an unsuccessful movement and eventually the first United States Constitution Amendment to be repealed fully. • 9. The Brown Burro and Nature Essay I breathed a sigh of relief finding everything in our camp as we had left it. Time seemed to have stood still in this part of the world; I felt as though we had been gone for ages when actually it was only three and a half days. I showered Frog with affection, and gave him the last of our cookies and chips. That night, Satan and Puss slept with me in my trailer. Frog kept me awake with his constant stomping and braying. Snow had fallen during our absence. Only patches of thin crust remained at Harry s camp. The hills beyond were covered with a blanket of mushroom like beauty glistening in the desert sun, which notwithstanding its angle in the sky, would wreak havoc with the snow before the day was done. I drove up the canyon in my Jeep... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The two burros stood glaring at one another, and then they pawed the earth, and charged. I heard the sound of the impact and they arced in the air like colliding locomotives, their loud, echoing blasts resounding across the canyons, and they bit at one another in a most vicious manner, which resulted in bloody lacerations about their bodies, then abruptly they stopped their combat and began grazing; and all was peaceful. The Jennies, close by, some accompanied by nursing yearlings, and older burros, regarded the two battling males with what appeared to me as casual regard; then the black one trotted over to the herd, and mounted one of the Jennies; and the entire herd let out a combined burro chant and charged as one, down the slope in my direction, the coupled pair leading the way! There I stood in awe, camera with telescope lens dangling at my side. I looked around for a route of escape, or some kind of protection, and thought of running to my Jeep, but it was too far away, and the slope was barren of tree or boulder; I was trapped, doomed to be trampled to death by a raging herd of wild burros. Then suddenly, as if on command, the charging herd split and stormed by me in a thundering roar of dust and dirt, and disappeared down a draw; and all was silent as though they had not been there, and what I had experienced but a dream. I sat down on the ground, buried my head in my arms. An overwhelming sensation of fear gripped me and I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hippies are notoriously known for their recreational uses of drugs, especially Marijuana. Around 1995, the Columbian cartels fell due to the assassination of an important figurehead of one of the major cartels (Gootenberg 8). Around this time, Mexican cartels rose to power. According to here are seven major Mexican Cartels: the Sinaloa Cartel, the Gulf Cartel, the Beltran Levya Cartel, the Juarez cartel, the Knights Templar, Los Zetas, and the Tijuana cartel. Out of all of the cartels, the most significant is the Sinaloa cartel. El Chapo is the leader of the Sinaloa cartel. He was captured in the early 2000s, however he escaped due to police corruption. His trial has been very public, bringing attention to the terror that is caused by the Cartels. The seven major cartels have long and bloody histories with each other. The Tijuana cartel, also known as Arellan Felix, controlled the Tijuana state border for many years (Bender para. 30 33). • 13. The Importance Of A Second Language Teacher A second language teacher has a significant influence on how the learners will achieve in their learning or fail. First and foremost, a second language teacher should understand the other language s culture to build a communication bridge between her and the learners. Once students feel valued and their culture is respected, they will feel motivated and try to discover the second language enthusiastically. The effective teacher cares about a learner as a human being. According to the Natural Approach, a teacher needs to lower the students affective filter to minimize the degree of nervousness. Such negative feelings about the second language may block acquisition from taking place. Therefore, the teacher can create a friendly, exciting and proper classroom environment, where there is a low affective filter for learning. Also, the teacher can provide the learners with group activities, games, and music to lower the emotional obstacles. Importantly, the teacher should not put the learners in embarrassing situations or ask them to speak before they get ready to. As claimed in the sociocultural theory, the effective teacher should provide appropriate scaffolding for the learners. Teacher s scaffolding role offers outstanding opportunities for the students and helps them work collaboratively. Additionally, it enables learners to obtain a higher level than they can attain by themselves. Providing the learners with the correction, evaluation or feedback is crucial for both ... It was legal under the advice of medical personnel or in the attempt to save a mother s life. Though abortion were widely available it was considered a secretive and back alley procedure that threatened the life of the patient and the persons conducting the abortion. In 1965, illegal abortions made up one sixth of all pregnancyand childbirth related deaths. A survey conducted between 1965 and 1967 found that 8 in 10 low income women in New York City who had an abortion attempted a dangerous self induced procedure (planedparenthood.com). Jane Roe (not her real name) was an unmarried woman from Texas. At the time, Texas state law declared it a felony to conduct an abortion without the direct approval of a medical doctor. The District Attorney of Dallas at the time was a man named Henry Wade. Roe filed a suit against Mr. Wade and Texas State law that it was violating her Constitutional rights to choose. It was the Supreme Court decision to overrule not only Texas s law but all laws that prohibited the abortion of a fetus after the first trimester of a pregnancy. The latest data show that just 40 percent of Americans have finished an associate s degree or above, while an additional 22 percent attend some college but failed to graduate (Kelly, p.1). The 22 percent of college students who are failing to graduate, could be the college students who are not being successful in college. There are many reasons why students are not successful in college. Some main reasons students are not successful in college are typical because of drugs, stress, time managementand procrastination, lack of desire and persistence and also poor self esteem and lack of self confidence. One reason why students are not successful in college is that of drugs. When students leave their homes to go off to college they meet new people, and experience overjoy of new freedom. When students notice that they are experiencing new freedom, they try new and different things. One of the main things students try that are new and different, depending on where the student is from, are drugs. Students use drugs for a lot of different reasons. Students use drugs to cope with stress, try to maintain course load, and they are influenced by peer pressure. In college, drugs are taken too far once students start to use them. Those who are enrolled in a full time college program are twice as likely to abuse drugs and alcohol than those who don t attend college (College students and Drug Abuse). The students who abuse drugs in college are the students that are normally not successful in college. The drugs take over the mind and students become unfocused and behind in school work, which leads to students failing out of college. Another reason why students are not successful in college is that of stress. Relationships, family issues and cost of tuition are stress related factors that are dealt with a college student. The America Institute of the street website says, a 2008 mental health study by the Associated Press and mtvU eight in 10 college students say they have experienced stress in their daily lives over the past three months (Stress in College Students p. 1). • 16. Sickle Cell Disease And Its Effects Sickle Cell Disease Sickle cell disease affects approximately 100,000 Americans and millions across the globe (Sobota, 2015). The three most common types of sickle cell disease are Hb SS (sickle cell anemia), Hb SC, and Hb S beta thalassemia, with Hb SS being the most common type (Harris, 2001). Sickle cell disease occurs in individuals who inherit the mutated hemoglobin gene, from one or both of their parents. The mutated hemoglobin, known as Hb S, crystalizes and join together into many small cords, which form chains that look like twisted wires (Harris, 2001, p. 20). Stretched to contain the Hb S crystals, the red blood cells take on spike and sickle shapes; this is how the name for the disease came about (Harris, 2001). Deformed, the sickled cells have a hard time moving through the blood stream and can eventually pile up in the blood vessels, having life threatening consequences. Although oxygen can reverse the sickling process in cells, turning Hb S back into a liquid, after a few sicklings the red blood cells membrane is permanently damaged and the cell will remain sickled. The History of Sickle Cell Disease American physician James Herrick was the first to describe sickle cell disease. In 1910, Herrick observed peculiar elongated and sickle shaped red blood corpuscles in the blood film of a West Indian student suffering from leg ulcers, shortness of breath, and jaundice (Chakravorty Williams, 2015, p. 48). In 1922, three more similar case were observed and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Privateers were privately owned ships that captured sea trade under orders from various governments. Buccaneers were government sponsored pirate crews who attacked Spanish ships in the Caribbean during the 17th century. Terms privateers and buccaneers are today both synonyms for piracy. • 19. My Mother, If She Had Won Free Dance Lessons And The Cab... Many stereotypes that address different types of people exist today. Stereotypes are popular, fixed, and oversimplified ideas that are typically associated with particular demographics. These ideas can be viewed negatively or positively. Stereotypes may foster or perpetuate misconceptions about some demographics. In the poems, My Mother, If She Had Won Free Dance Lessons and The Cab Driver Who Ripped Me Off, both written by Cornelius Eady, contain characters who are susceptible to misconceptions and prejudices due to their personal experiences. In My Mother, If She Had Won Free Dance Lessons, the speaker discusses his mother s condition and how their lives could have been different if she had become a dancer. Unfortunately, she was unable to pursue that career. Now, she spends her day doing absolutely nothing ( Line 8). This is one of the reasons why he refers to her as the neighborhood crazy lady ( Line 6). Seeing his mother in this state causes the speaker to wonder what life would be like if she was given the opportunity to dance in stanzas 3 6 ( Lines 20 40). In another poem, written by Eady titled, The Cab Driver Who Ripped Me Off, the speaker tells the listener about an encounter with a cab driver with prejudice. The cab driver was criticizing people who make money through unconventional means such as scamming. Meanwhile, the cab driver was also scamming the speaker by taking a round a bound way which increases the fare. In both of the texts, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. The Use Of Symbolism In Traveling Through The Dark Symbolism is used in everything from movies to stories, EVERYTHING. Symbolism is the use of symbols to represent ideas or qualities. Symbols can be used to describe or mean something else. For example, empty pockets can be used as a symbol to describe not having any money. It can be used in many different ways and forms. Symbols are used everyday and time are really hard to notice what they truly mean. The following poems all use different symbols, but all stand for deception the poems are Traveling Through the Dark by William Stafford, We Wear the Mask by Paul Laurence Dunbar, Richard Cory by Edwin Arlington Robinson, and The Lotteryby Shirley Jackson. To begin with, the poem Traveling Through the Dark the car is symbolized as death. In real life time a car is used as a form of transportation, but can also bring death to those involved in an accident. The narrator states, Traveling though the dark I found a deer dead on the edge of the Wilson river road (lines1 2). He says that he has found a dead deer on by the river that another car might have hit before. This car that the narrator is in come be a sign of death coming again to a unborn baby. He says, . . . then pushed her over the edge into the river (line18). After finding the dead deer he decides to move the deer to prevent another accident, later to find out that an unborn is still alive. He makes his way towards a cliff pushing off the dead and now dead baby fawn to dispose of the bodies. Nordstrom comments, the car is certainly described as a death bringer (Nordstrom). Nordstrom understands that death is disguised by a car and as the car approaches the deer, its death making its way again. Next the poem named We Wear the Mask deals with what slaves would relate to during the slavery having to cover up their true feelings. A mask is used as a symbol as it is used to hide the true feelings of those who are in grief and sorrow. In the poem it states, We wear the mask that grins and lies . . . (line 1). Right off the bat the writer agrees to wearing a mask that does not show true emotions. The writer is most likely not willing to show his or her true feelings, because during the time slaves were not supposed to be happy and were not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Like earlier publications examining general teacher education, the responses to the task force report focused on the need for excellence in vocational teacher education. Issues in Achieving Excellence Debate on the question of how to pursue excellence in vocational teacher education programs focused on vocational education s mission, audience, and delivery. New Mission? Until the advent of the reform movement, vocational education had been viewed as a separate system of education intended to meet the nation s labor needs by providing below college level training for specific occupations (Lynch 1997). In the late 1980s, that view began to change. Borrowing words used by Dewey in 1916, Tozer and Nelson (1988) urge vocational teacher educators to teach prospective teachers to provide students with generalizable higher order skills by teaching through vocations instead of for vocations (p. 22). Pros And Cons Of Using Unsecured Loans To Pay Off Debt Using unsecured loans to pay off debt is probably not a good idea, but there are clear exceptions to this so you really have to consider your situation thoroughly. Generally speaking it s not a good plan because when you don t offer up any kind of collateral and borrow money your interest rates will be considerably higher. That mixed in with the fact that your credit may not be so great because of the debt problems you re having and then you have a very high interest rate. It takes a lot longer to get out of debt if the interest keeps adding to it and making things worse. The Liberal Democrats have played an active part in the world of British politics over the last thirty years, in a variety of roles as a third party and as members of the conservative/liberal coalition. To truly consider the major contributions of such a party it is necessary to consider the variety of ideological and policy stances taken by the party and their effects on British politics. Committed efforts to promote the EU by Clegg against the more eurosceptic narrative created by the Conservatives would have contributed far more to the image of the European Union within British politics, and could have affected the image of Europe during the referendum. (BBC News, 2012). The Liberal Democrats are well known for their commitment to community politics, and in a political landscape which is moving further and further towards a national policy focus this commitment is arguably a major contribution. With many of the strongest periods for the party s local politics being periods of otherwise decline, notable of which being the 1999 Eastbourne by election and the recent 22 (at time of writing) council seats gained under Farron since May, their moves towards community politics could be seen as a ploy, however due to the strong party community campaigning heritage it is difficult to see this as the case. When these women move so far away their familybond is affected and their children miss out on the love and affection they need. These women also run the risk of getting paid little for their work, being manipulated by their bosses, and also having to become sex workers for them so they don t run the risk of losing their jobs. In the text Nannies, Maids, and Sex Workers in the New Economy by Barbara Ehrenreich and Arlie Russell Hochschild discusses the underlying issue of why these women are forced to leave their homes and go to developed countries to work. • 47. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Deviance Deviance is generally a phenomenon of deviating from the existing social norms. It basically depends on the society and the culture or group they belong to and not on the act that they perform. Therefore, it is relative and not person or individual specific. According to sociologists, a specific act to which people do not abide by and react in an opposite manner is referred to as a deviant act. Thus, it can be said that all individuals who do not obey the rules and regulations are deviants. According to a sociologist, Erving Goffman, a person s status is defined by one specific quality or attribute which becomes his master status and all other characteristics of the person are ignored. According to Emile Durkheim, deviance brings in social order and unity. Hence, deviance is functional. It helps decide and clear the boundaries of a society and norms as to how people should think and act. One major advantage of deviance is that it helps in bringing a chance in the society which can be a positive one. if majority of the people follow the same deviant act, it becomes a permanent change with new behaviors and conduct in a society. As explained by the Strain theory which was given by Robert Merton, there are cases when the goal of the individuals is a moral and cultural goal but the means to achieve the specific goal is immoral or is not legitimate. Basically there is a strain that people experience when they wish to achieve a certain goal which can only be accomplished by unfair means. The team for this kind of a strain used by Merton is anomie which was coined by Durkheim. To achieve a certain cultural goal, there are five kinds of reactions. One is by directly following all the rules and regulations and achieving the goals. • 48. Epic Poem Parody In the world of literature and poetry, it s typically not hard to find something written about a hero, or something heroic, like an epic. Epics are long poems, typically told orally in ancient times, about the adventures of a hero or heroine and their deeds. The Iliad should immediately come to the mind of any student proficient in western literature. Nonetheless, the themes and archetypes of these works known as epics are so well known, that they are even parodied, take completely out of context, and pasted on the wall for laughs. One of the most recognized parodies of this kind would be Alexander Pope s The Rape of the Lock. The Rape of the Lock is a story about taking a minor incident and satirizing it by making it into a huge and important epic of divine proportions. One might think of the phrase a tempest in a teapot , which perfectly describes this poem. In the poem, the main character, a girl named Belinda, has her hair unwillingly cut by a baron, and the struggle to regain her lost hair even pulls in mythical creatures like sylphs to describe this epic poem. Pope was actually asked to write something like this in order to reconcile two Catholic families, as the hair cutting fiasco was based off a real event that caused bad blood between the two aforementioned families. The man who requested the poem, John Caryll, hoped that if the two families could laugh about the whole thing, they would put the whole thing behind them and end their estrangement (Rippy, n.p.). ... • 50. Analysis Of This Way For The Gas Ladies And Gentlemen This Way for the Gas, Ladies and Gentlemen by Tadeusz Borowski, published in 1959, is a short story about a concentration camp prisoner s experience working on Canada, the group of inmates responsible for helping unload the incoming prisoner transports. The narrator bares witness to many atrocities throughout the story, which are made more impactful to the reader through Borowski s use of impactful dialogue, figurative language, casual and matter of fact tone, and repetition. These literary elements allow Borowski to draw the reader in more than he would otherwise, and make them feel almost as if they are experiencing the horrors along with him. With few exceptions, every line of dialogue in the passage starts on it s own new line. This, combined with a lack of says or said in most cases, gives the dialogue a pointed and natural feeling. This has a couple of effects on the reader. First, it allows the reader to be more invested in the characters and the narrative that is playing out. They are able to feel closer to the action because of a lack of Henri said or I said getting in the way every line. This helps with the flow of the story while it is being consumed. For example, Schade, too bad. Come, come, Herr Posten, isn t my word good enough any more? Haven t we done business before? How much? One hundred. Gemacht? Gemacht. (698) The dialogue above is casual and welcoming. In context, when the reader is aware it is a conversation between two characters, it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 52. The Effect Of Oxytocin On The Behavior Of People With... Research Article Review In this study, researchers analyzed the effect oxytocin has on the behavior of people with autism. It is known that individuals with autism can not function socially the same as individuals without autism. Our brains are made with the ability to respond to the social behaviors of others with our own social skills. Autistic people have difficult time in social situations because they have a low deficiency of oxytocin, which aides in social behavior. Oxytocin is a hormone known to promote mother infant bonding, synthesized in the hypothalamus, but may also be known to help with the social deficit of autism (Andari et al. 2010). Plasma oxytocin levels are much lower in individuals with autism rather than the controlled subjects. It is also known that oxytocin is involved in the development of social behavior. Regarding that information, researchers made the hypothesis which has implicated oxytocin in the etiology of autism, and particular in the social disorders that are the hallmark of HF ASD (Andari et al. 2010). These researchers believe oxytocin plays a big role in the social behavior of autistic individuals. They observed that high levels of oxytocin is associated with plasma samples, advising that the way this hormone is produced ties in with autism. Researchers in this study were eager to determine the effect of oxytocin on individuals with autism and how it could modify patients with higher functioning skills to process social signals and ...
