Greece
Background on Greece s Debt Crisis You cannot spend more than (what) you earn...you should not
borrow more than (what) you can afford. This, according to an editorial published by the Greek
newspaper Kathimerini, may be the lesson Greeks are now learning the hard way.1 Unrestrained
spending of successive Greek governments over a long period may have driven the country s budget
and current account deficits.2 Greece borrowed heavily from international capital markets to finance
public sector jobs, pensions and other social benefits.3 As deficits and the country s debt burden grew,
the governments just kept on borrowing. 4 When Greece joined the eurozone in 2001, it gained
monetary stability and was able to borrow at lower interest rates ... Show more content on

With the lowest rating in the eurozone, Greek bonds are now viewed as a highly risky investment by
foreign investors.9 Consequently, Greek bond yields increased in 2010. Greek 10 year bond yields
used to be 10 to 40 basis points above German 10year bonds prior to the crisis. However, with the
crisis, the spread increased to over 400 basis points in January 2010. This high bond spread further
underscores investors loss of confidence in the Greek economy. 10 In April 2010, Eurostat, the
Statistical Office of the European Communities, estimated Greece s budget deficit to be 13.6% of
GDP almost a full percentage higher than the 12.7% estimate

Tylor Kistler s Nineteen Eighty-Personal Narrative
I stood at the top of the hill. It was Regional day. My team and I trained all year for that day. The sun
was shining and the snow was crisp just like the air. The wind was silent and allowed the clamor of the
festivities to hang in the air undisturbed. I could hear everything. The chanting of names and times
from the loudspeaker. The racers skis slicing into the snow. My favorite rhythmic clapping of shins on
gates. Then, to my surprise, Tylor Kistler, bib 156? a pause, racer may go when ready . Oh no. If my

Student Shootings
On October 1, 2015, Christopher Harper Mercer walked into Umpqua Community College and shot
eighteen people. A week later shootings occurred at universities in Arizona and Texas leaving two
dead. According to a study in 2013, the FBI identified thirty nine active shooting cases in educational
settings, and these cases accounted for the highest number of casualties(_). With the threat of active
shootings in educational settings, many universities are trying to increase security on college
campuses in order to protect students and staff members. The need for heightened security allows
universities to constantly monitor the activities of students in order to create a safe environment. Many
universities, such as Loyola University Chicago, implement guidelines that aid in controlling students
and creating docile individuals. At Loyola University Chicago, it utilizes surveillance cameras and
identification cards to protect students. Moreover, the need for control transcends surveillance for
security reasons and is utilized in academics through the grading ... Show more content on

Universities attempt to combat the issue through protective means. At Loyola, the use of technology
contributes to the protection of students since it allows for continuous monitoring of the campus.
However, the increase in technology also gives the university access into the whereabouts of students
since the methods used to restrict access to facilities only to students. This mode of surveillance makes
it easier for the university to establish control over individuals while protecting the institution.
Moreover, indirect surveillance through a rigorous grading system causes students to work efficiently
in order to avoid academic punishment. The methods utilized by Loyola University reflects Foucault s
ideas of power because the university places students under constant observation directly and

Macgregor Case Essay
This essay aims to portray each individual party s viewpoint on the incident that occurred regarding
The Macgregor Hotel and the claimants Peter and Beatrice, in addition the Crown Prosecution Court
will also be scrutinising the events which took place that evening. The crown prosecution court will be
the first party to put their argument forward. In order to achieve this, the consecutive order of events
need to be stated: Peter booked a room for a week at Macgregor Hotel. At the reception desk, where
he made the booking, was a notice limiting the hotel s liability for loss of, damage to guest s property.

consumptions. The second argument will be delivered by Beatrice where her account of the
occurrences will be reviewed, along with possible claims and remedies available to her. Crucial acts
which may be of great use to Beatrice will also be referenced, in order to strengthen her case against
the defendant Macgregor hotel. After having consumed the faulty oysters Beatrice felt sick, whilst
making her way to the toilets she tripped over ripped carpet falling hard and breaking her arm. Prior to
this incident Beatrice was working as a team assistant/PA investment banker employed by HSBC on a
full time contract of 40 hours per week. In regards to the injury Beatrice was unable to work for a
period of two months therefore she suffered financial loss as well as sustaining personal injuries which
are certified by medical reports. The first statute which can be referred to is the occupiers liability act

Sergeant Pepper s Lonely Hearts Club Band Essay
On June 1st, 1967, The Beatles released Sergeant Pepper s Lonely Hearts Club Band, an album that
would not have been created without the influence of psychedelic drugs. These psychedelic drugs
created the energy of the album because of the relationship LSD brought to The Beatles. Before
November of 1966, the band had been divided in half with the people who took LSD (George
Harrison and John Lennon) and the ones who did not (Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr). In November
of 1966, Paul McCartney agreed to try LSD. This agreement closed the gap between the band. The
mended division between the band led to a collective consciousness between the band members and
filled McCartney with a new sense of possibility, both of which were very important the ... Show more

The record follows the idea of The Beatles being Sergeant Pepper s band, as some sort of alter ego,
and has a beginning, middle, and end. This allowed the band to present themselves as something new
and fresh by adopting the persona of a fake group (Gould 385). The concept album model set by The
Beatles has been used over the past four decades by many other groups. This was not the only way
that the album was revolutionary, though, the diverse compositions that allowed the album to be a
cross between the uniformed brass bands of Lancashire and the ornately named acid rock groups of
California caused a massive explosion of aesthetics (Gould 418). The contrast of the instruments and
compositions used from song to song in the album, namely the soft ambience of imported paisley
carpets and a haze of smoldering incense in George Harrison s Indian influenced song, Within You
Without You vs the 40 piece orchestra in A Day in the Life , set the tone for many albums to come
(Gould 387). The effect Sergeant Pepper s Lonely Hearts Club Band had on the music industry and the
people of the 1960s was undeniably huge and it would not have been possible without the influence of

Chickpeas Temperature Experiment
According to Figure 1, the production of carbon dioxide changed based on the temperature the
chickpeas were placed in. It seemed that the chickpeas placed into the ice bucket at 5°C produced the
most carbon dioxide; however, this is not the case since the figure is only showing measuring the
amount of ppm s recorded by the carbon dioxide sensor. To get an accurate determination if
temperature affected cellular respiration of chickpeas, finding the slopes of the lines was necessary
which was done in Table 1. This is done by using the mathematical formula m=(y2 y1)/(x2 x1) with
the y being the y coordinate and x being the x coordinate. To be consistent the coordinate points at the
10 second and 240 second mark were used to find the slope ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The chickpeas in the hottest temperature tested produced the most amount of carbon dioxide meaning
that the cellular respiration rate of the chickpeas was increased. The coldest temperature tested also
produced the least amount of carbon dioxide meaning cellular respiration decreased in those
chickpeas. For the most part the experiment ran more smoothly than expected. A few time during
testing the test chamber was knock over but these accident had a minimal effect on the final outcome.
There were sudden jumps when testing the runs in Figure 1, but the jumps were never major enough to
cause a retrial. These jumps can be attributed to the fact that the carbon dioxide production was taken
every 10 seconds in the 240 second experiment so anything outside disturbance during that time was
reflected in the data. Overall the data completely supports the hypothesis. The 42°C run produced the
highest slope, the 5°C run produced the lowest slope, and the room temperature (22°) run was in
between the two other slopes. The 5°C run did have the most amount of ppm s recorded, but this
means nothing in the long run since the slope was still the lowest meaning it produced the least
amount of carbon dioxide over the 4 minutes. The results obtained corresponded with other students in
the class who also tested the relationship between cellular respiration and temperature as well as the
studies discussed in the introduction

The Battle Of The Imperial System
Minae Mizumura argue in Who Wants to Marry an Emperor that being married to an emperor is a fool
s errand; women are the ideal candidates of an noble emperor. Despite her trivial attacks on male
emperors, men are undoubtedly far superior in ruling justified by their extension back to antiquity
rulers, capability, and traditional essence. The imperial system has extended across thousands of years
of Japanese history; it s pitiful to say that it ll come to a closing fairly soon. The imperial system
demands a male to be the successor of the emperor, which is the responsibility of the empress to
supply. When newborns that are produced aren t male, the imperial system draws closer to
impairment. As degrading as it may sound, a women s entirety is reduced to a womb . Why would you
want to marry into a life so demeaning? Why are male constituted as the sole heir of the throne of an
emperor? What happens when imperialism is gone? Mizumura; a Japanese Novelist, argues that no
sane woman would marry an emperor, and that times have changed, women can easily dictate the role
of an emperor. Mizumura is a fan of the imperial system; she wants to see Japan flourish as a part of
imperialism. Nonetheless, she doesn t agree with how women are handled when being affiliated with
the future emperors. Noteworthy women are being reduced to a body for fertility, which is wrong on
all occasions. Mizumura also disagrees with male being the sole heirs. Male successors acquiring the

Link Between Autism And Vaccinations
No Link Found between Autism and Vaccinations
The purpose of report is to explore the possible link between the development of Autism or Autism
Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and vaccinations containing thimerosal. Around the world, there is a
debate over the administration of the mumps, measles, and rubella (MMR) vaccination due to the use
of the preserver, Thimerasol. Thimerasol s use is controversial to the fact that the compound contains
the toxic chemical element, mercury (Hg). In 1999, the Center for Disease Control and the American
Academy of Pediatrics pushed the FDA for the removal of mercury from vaccinations administered to
children under the age of six. Although this measure was only of a cautionary nature, it led to many

They go on to state that they compiled studies that examined the relationship between the MMR
vaccination and the post administration development of Autism or the spectrum disorders. The
information that they extracted consists of the study characteristics, methods, and outcomes. They
finally state that they found no relationship, of any kind.
The first section in the methods section describes the protocol to be followed. In order to find
appropriate studies for the meta analysis, Taylor and Swerdfeger, examined articles from Medline,
Pubmed, Embase, and Google Scholar using the guidelines outlined by the Preferred Reporting Items
for Systematic Review and Analysis (PRISMA) and independently assessed the risk of bias using the
Newcastle Ottawa Scale (NOS). Eslick then reviewed the articles. Following this, Taylor manually
extracted the study design, the country of completion, sample sizes, interventions, outcome measures,
and measures of effect from the articles. All literature had to be published and there was no language
restriction on the studies,
The second section details the eligibility requirements for the analysis. The first criterion of which was
that the publications included cohort and case control studies that looked at the prospective

Since Confederation, Relations Between The Canadian Federal
Since Confederation, relations between the Canadian federal government and the native people of
Canada have been strained due to the former existence of the Indian Residential School System.
Following the passage of the Indian Act, the first residential schools were established across Canada to
assimilate indigenous children into Canadian society through the forced adoption of European
customs at the expense of their own culture. During its tenure, approximately 150,000 indigenous
children were separated from their communities and families, and forcibly enrolled into residential
schools where many would be subjected to physical, and psychological abuses. Despite its malicious
practices and objective, the residential school system ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The articles of these treaties were often detrimental to the native people who partook since the
compensation provided for their lands was inadequate, often leaving them dispossessed of traditional
territories and dependent on a prejudiced federal government s aid. Consequently, many aboriginal
people were relocated to remote reserves where, despite being granted limited self government,
essential services were scarce and living conditions were deplorable. It was on the reserves that many
residential schools were built since the provision of education was a contingency specified by the
natives in exchange for their lands. Recognizing its historically unfair payment for native lands and its
failure to adequately deliver on the clauses outlined by the natives in the treaties, such as the supply of
quality education, the federal government has negotiated twenty six comprehensive land claims since
1973. These new treaties have restored native ownership to over 600,000 km of lost lands, transferred
capital exceeding $3.2 billion, and have upheld native ways of life including the right to self
government.
In addition to its recent negotiations regarding comprehensive land claim arrangements, the federal
government of Canada has made efforts to improve its financial aid for indigenous peoples. The
Constitution Act of 1867 stated that aboriginal affairs were to be placed under federal control thus
obliging the federal government to

The Pros And Cons Of Sin In Christianity
Sin is a religious interpretation of the morals of society, claiming immoral things to be a violation of a
higher law; in Christianity s case, God s Law. All religions, since they were first created, have in some
way, discussed sin. Sin is a method of creating the moods and motivations for acting justly in society.
People are encouraged to refrain from doing something because it is a sin. Sin is thought to be
universally understood and believed by all followers of a religion. However, there is debate over
whether sin is truly universal. Sin in Christianity is widely interpreted with many different views on
what is sinful. Within Christianity, acts deemed as sinful vary depending on denominations, societal
standards, and the situation in which it happens.
Across Christianity there is variation about what is considered sinful. Different denominations
interpret and teach the Bible in different ways. One example is homosexuality. Some Christian
denominations consider homosexuality to be a sin while others do not. The Primitive Baptist
denomination, which includes the Westboro Baptist Church, is intensely conservative when it comes
to viewing homosexuality as a sin . The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is one of the more
welcoming Christian denominations to the LGBTQ community, who celebrate same sex marriages, so
therefore do not view homosexuality as a sin . There are many other denominations who fall between
declaring homosexuality as sinful and not. Calvin College,

The Crash Of The United States Air Force
Unfortunately, crashes and crises aren t a new things in today s world. Far too often we have car
crashes, boats sinking, car explosions, or bus crashes. Not too often do you hear about plane crashes,
however, when you do it is fatal. One truly amazing plane crash involved two amazing pilots, birds,
and one miracle landing on the Hudson. One captain of flight 1549 was captain Chesley Sullenberger,
age of fifty eight at the time. Sullenberger was no rookie to flying he had been flying since 15 when he
enlisted in flight lessons from a local pilot in his hometown. At the age of eighteen Sullenberger went
on to become a fighter pilot for the United States Air Force, he spent the next ten years in the air force
until being asked to be a pilot for U.S. Airways. Chesley logged a total of 20,000 hours of pilotry in
his career and spent his free time learning and teaching pilots about flight safety and how to prepare
for the worst. Chesley spent hours learning the anatomy of a plane, as well as various crashes and
famous pilots learning exactly what needed to happen if such an occasion were to occur. Of course we
all know that every crash is different and no matter how much you study you will never be truly
prepared for such an event. Sullenberger has two daughters one of sixteen and the other of fourteen
and a wife. Thursday morning, before the crash Sullenberger woke up early, he drove to San Francisco
International Airport, he was to fly to Charlotte for a four day flight

Chlamydia Research Paper
Chlamydia is caused by bacteria, which means the disease can often be treated with antibiotics.
Azithromycin is an antibiotic usually prescribed in a single dose, while doxycycline must be taken
twice per day for about one week. There are also other antibiotics your doctor may prescribe to you.
No matter which antibiotic you are prescribed, you will need to follow the dosage instructions
cautiously to make sure the infection clears up completely. This usually takes two weeks at most,
during which time you will need to refrain from sexual contact. One of the most effective ways of
avoiding Chlamydia is by limiting the amount of sexual partners you have. The more people you have

Lung compliance and its disorders
Philippe Wöllenstein
Study group 3052; Topic No.62

Abstract
The essay comprises an introduction explaining the term pulmonary compliance. The next section
includes a definition and characteristics of the group of diseases restrictive pulmonary disorders.
Further on a short summary of restrictive lung diseases and especially their cause follows trying to
contribute a better knowledge of the topic to the reader. In the end the reader can find a short
conclusion.

The average compliance levels at about 200 milliliters of air/cm of water transpulmonary pressure. It
is to mention that those pressures mentioned varie in inspiration (inspiratory compliance curve) and
expiration (expiratory compliance curve). Visualization can be done according to the compliance
diagram.
The question that arises now is which forces act upon the lung tissue to create the trans
pulmonary/alveolar and finally the compliance of the lung? To answer it one has to look closer at the
structure of the pulmonary tissue, which is found to be elastic. Interwoven into the parenchyma we
can find elastin and collagen fibers which determine the elastic forces of the lung. The other big factor
playing it s role is the surface tension of the fluid lining the alveolus.
II. Restrictive lung disorders
Is a group of disorders characterized by a decrease in lung capacity either caused by alterations in the
lung wall lining, disease of the internal wall of the lung or by neuromuscular mechanisms.
Translated into physiological values: Total lung capacity (TLC) decreases; Vital capacity of the
lung(VC) decreases ; Functional Residual capacity(FRC) decreases if caused by parenchymal lung
disease the gas exchange mechanism decreases as well.
Further on based on anatomical construct we have to differentiate between intrinsic and extrinsic
causes of restrictive lung disorders. The intrinsic

Maximum Efficiency Of The Engineering World
Maximum Efficiency In the engineering world, there are two ways to come up with a solution to solve
a problem. There s the effective method, which is a solution that simply solves the problem at hand.
However, simply solving a problem is never enough. Therefore, this is why we usually revert to
finding an efficient method of problem solving. Efficiency is the ultimate goal for all manufacturers
and businesses as this is where the big bucks come from. It is very important that these big companies
find these efficient solutions in order to minimize their losses whilst maximizing their profits.
Benjamin Disraeli, a British writer from the 19th century once said that, there can be economy only
where there is efficiency . Efficiency is the basis of all large production companies. They re main goal
is to be able to produce their product at a fast enough rate, whilst keeping the production costs at a
minimum. Companies must take a lot of small factors in mind when it comes to production.
Assessment of labour costs, material costs and time is key when it comes to figuring out how to
minimize the cost of production. An oversimplified equation to represent efficiency is, Output ÷ Input
= Efficiency. In the eyes of a manufacturer, the output would represent their product sale cost and the
input would represent the production cost. Every successful production company must realize the
importance of efficiency. For example, if you look at a car company and look behind the scenes

Chemical Reaction Of Mentos
The scope of this paper is to explain the reaction that takes place when Mentos are dropped into Diet
Coke. This experiment is used frequently because of what happens when the candy meets the soda. A
geyser is formed that shoots out of the bottle that resembles a volcanic eruption. Due to the similarity,
it is also used for volcano projects. Depending on the alterations to the Mentos and/or Diet Coke, the
geyser can either go much higher or much lower than normal.
This reaction has produced much confusion among people about whether it is a physical or chemical
reaction. It is a physical reaction because the substances remained the same, the reaction did not form
a new substance. (Coffey) What creates the physical reaction is water molecules that go into the pores
on the Mentos. The rough surface of Mentos allow this to happen. The water molecules grow to create
carbon dioxide bubbles on the outside of the candy. The Mentos gain buoyancy, which means they rise
to the surface of the soda. After this occurs, there is increased bubble formation, resulting in the liquid
turning to foam and shooting out of the bottle. Bubble formation is also increased by the gum arabic
and gelatin in the Mentos combining with the potassium benzoate, sugar, and aspartame in the Diet
Coke. (Hiskey, Mental Floss)
As stated above, there are alterations that speed the reaction. These include decreasing the surface
tension of the Diet Coke, performing an acid base reaction, and warming the Diet Coke.

British Soap Operas Essay
British soap operas are, of course, overly dramatic. In nearly every soap opera, including the
Eastenders, Coronation Street, Emmerdale, and The Archers the characters constantly discuss money
and drink excessively. Of course, these shows are not made to be taken literally they are mindless
entertainment, not serious social commentary. However, behind the drama, they raise subtle questions
about the nature of Britain today: the clashes between cultures and religions, upper and lower classes,
and the young rebelling against the old. All of these things could be happening at the very same time,
and underlining all of these issues is the idea that no one should be trusted. British people are often the
victims of stereotype, but to watch ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A bartender mixes cheap, terrible powdered drinks and tests it on customers in order to make more
money. One woman runs into the bar and demands alcohol, shouting It s time to liven up this place
(Newman). In Coronation Street, every other scene features alcohol. Two young men, pessimistic
about their futures, guzzle beers in a room littered with empty beer cans. Two other characters pour
whiskey into a teapot and have straight alcohol teatime, complete with milk. In Emmerdale, a
depressed father meets the vicar in the pub for a drink. Of course, alcohol consumption in these shows
is never the cause of problem but it is interesting to note that in most of the dramatic scenes, alcohol is
consumed, possibly fueling these confrontations. According to these shows, the only jobs available in
Great Britain for those in the lower class are bar tending, hotel work, hairdressing, or waitressing.
They usually spend their time working on ways to gain more money, leaving their pubs and salons in
jeopardy as they waste time and quid on get rich quick schemes. The upper classes, which live
sometimes just about twenty feet away from the poor, have problems, too. The arguments in The

John Anthony Burgess s A Clockwork Orange
A relatively unknown author at the beginning of his writing career, John Anthony Burgess Wilson,
better known under his pen name by just Anthony Burgess, would become a prominent author towards
the end of his life. Burgess has allowed many to scrutinize his novels, ranging from his three colonial
novels at the beginning of his writing career, Time for a Tiger, The Enemy in the Blanket, and Beds in
the East to his most well known novel, A Clockwork Orange (The International Anthony Burgess
Foundation). Burgess s dystopian classic continues to provoke deeper thinking, yet also startle those

A couple of years after his father remarried, Burgess would begin writing his earliest published poems
and short stories. Similar to many children today, Burgess despised his stepmother, declaring how she
subscribed to all the current bigotries. The relationship between father and son was not the ideal
relationship either, his father, to an extent, still blamed him for his mother s death. Burgess did not
only lose his mother, but he would lose his father as well, gaining a mostly absent drunk who called
himself a father (Burgess). Before Burgess could even speak, he lost his mother, and the affection of
his father.
Burgess was schooled at St. Edmund s Elementary School before moving to Bishop Bilsborrow
Memorial Elementary school, both Catholic schools in Moss Side. As a child, he be largely isolated
from others his age, due to being either persecuted because of his wealthier appearance, or ignored by
all (Burgess). As a result of Burgess s impressive grades, he would be given a place in Xaverian
College. This would be where he would stay to complete his School Certificate examinations. Burgess
s first published poems would appear in the school magazine, named The Manchester Xaverian, under
the name John Burgess Wilson. Although uninterested in music as a child, Burgess would find his
passion after listening to a flute solo in which he described as sinuous, exotic, and erotic. Music was

LGBT life experiences and art. Interestingly enough, although the space was not necessarily queer
exclusive, I believe that a majority of the attendees were members of the queer community. This led to
several questions after the lecture pertaining to personal experiences from members of the community
and how they related to the lecture that was shared. I think that one of the aspects of strangeness I
experienced was the fact that I did not feel comfortable asking a question that I had at the end of the
lecture. There was nothing necessarily telling me that I could not ask a question, in fact, it was
encouraged for the most part. I simply felt like I was in a space that was specifically for queer people
and that it was not my place to speak up, since I typically have the privilege of having my voice heard
daily.
Another aspect that felt strange to me was the overt sexuality of many of the photographs that were
shown. I grew up in a very conservative Christian household, where I was taught that sexuality was
something that was private and sex itself was reserved for married couples. Many of the photos shown
during Dr. Howard s lecture showed partial or complete nudity, or were candid photos of LGBT
couples participating in sex acts. This was

Facts About Nail Polish
There isn t a single formula for nail polish, stated the authors of http://www.madehow.com/Volume
1/Nail Polish.html. There are different ingredient types that are used. The ingredients are: film forming
agents, resins and plasticizers, solvents, and coloring agents. The process of a nail polish, apart from
being top secret, depends on choices made by chemists and chemical engineers in the different phases
of manufacturing. Also, as chemicals and other ingredients become accepted or rejected for some uses,
adjustments are made. For example, formaldehyde was used in polishes, but now it is mostly never
used. The main ingredient in nail polish is nitrocellulose cotton, a flammable and explosive ingredient
also used in making dynamite! Nitrocellulose ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

You shouldn t throw your nail polish away, it isn t very wise and could lead to horrible

Storing nail polish in the bathroom is one of the biggest mistakes people make. And unlike what some

Painting your nails is illegal on airplanes and leads to dire consequences. One woman was even
arrested for painting her nails on a flight! She did also use bad language and refuse to stop, but overall,
most airlines do not approve nail polish in the sky. Some other illegal polish uses are neon polishes.Or

Geeks And Nerds In Today s Technological World

West Point Officer Application Essay
The United States Military Academy is among the greatest and historically significant institutions in
the world. My aspirations to attend West Point derived from my experience in active duty as an
enlisted 12 Bravo Combat Engineer in the 82nd Airborne Division. The best leaders I ve been
privileged to learn from all came from the same place, West Point. I want to attend the United States

future soldiers of the United States Army.
The first of many West Point Officers that I ve been gifted to learn from is First Lieutenant Beerman,
who was the first platoon leader I had while serving with Alpha Company 37th BEB in 2nd platoon.
LT Beerman is the sound definition of a leader, he constantly ensured that we as his soldiers always
were kept fully satisfied but never complacent. He taught the importance of learning to be lead, and

Of the issues, Dr. Hart discussed I agreed with the idea that crimes and poverty still exist outside of
addiction and the attractive alternatives to drugs can help deter the selection of that pathway.
Personally, I agree that crime and poverty aren t a consequence of drug use rather a precursor to the
act of. In some circumstances, the only way to get by in the eyes of an individual is to sell drugs and
in the process a habit is picked up. In other situations, crimes occur and throughout the process drugs

Hart about was decriminalizing all drugs. I think that by doing this we would have a bigger issue on

handle it would be to re evaluate our current laws. I don t think it would be helpful to say meth, crack,
heroin, and all that fall under that umbrella are free for use. The way I see it, people will start to take
advantage. There would be no regulations, no guidelines to follow. The way Dr. Hart is proposing, I
feel would backfire. What I would suggest is to start looking at laws and seeing where adjustments are
needed. A great example would be our transitioning marijuana use to recreational.

Before watching this TED talk, I had no clue that the one hit and you re hooked phrase came from

only a lever which could be pulled to supply a dosage of a certain drug. The idea that only only one hit

Reflection About Geography
Every other year, my high school offers a College in the Schools (CIS) geography course. In this
course, there is one assignment that all the upperclassmen would always complain about. As an
underclassman, I had dreaded the year that I was going to be receiving this assignment due to having a
tendency to save my projects for last minute. I will never forget the map that taught me that
procrastination makes the process of completing assignments more difficult, especially on a project
that is for a college class.
In the beginning of November 2016, my junior year, our college geography class received our quarter
project: a map of the world. Our teacher, Mr.Sharstrom, assigned our class a large number of physical
features that our maps needed to include such as rivers, lakes, islands, mountain ranges, seas, oceans,
and deserts. Mr.Sharstrom required us to include all seven continents and a key that showed
distinctions in the different physical features of the world. The maps needed to be to scale and show a
minimum amount of distortion as possible. When we received our project, our geography teacher
warned us, This project will be time consuming and you will not want to wait until the week before to
start your maps.
After communicating expectations with the class, a majority of my classmates began to work on their
maps. I knew that my family was traveling to Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, for Thanksgiving break, so
I wanted to attempt to complete as much of the map as possible

The Fifth Child by Doris Lessing
The Fifth Child is the masterpiece of Nobel Prize winner Doris Lessing. Lessing herself described it as
a horror story, but we can also put it into the genre of social psychological novels. She declared: I
hated writing it. It was sweating blood. I was very glad when it was done. It was an upsetting thing to
write obviously, it goes very deep into me somewhere. It is a brilliant novel which deals not just with
the social aspect of family life in England at the end of 19th century but with human psyches in
general. Harriet and David Lovatt are a conventional and traditional couple who met at the office party
and immediately fell in love because of the similar interests that they share. One of their common
desires is to have a pretty family house in the country and produce a large family of six or eight
children. All of their friends, family members and relatives are completely shocked by their odd wish.
Slowly they start building a family life; they buy a huge house in the country, and have the first baby.
Ever since they have their first baby their house is full of family members, relatives and friends for
every holiday, just like they have always dreamed of. Besides the fact that Harriet does not have easy
pregnancies and all the work she has to do makes her completely exhausted, she enjoys having a
house full of people and to impose on them with her perfect life. Everything is just like Harriet and

Psychologists researching the normal changes of aging have found that although some aspects of

Semantic memory is generally derived from episodic memory, in that we learn new facts or concepts
from our experiences, and episodic memory is considered to reinforce semantic memory
(Zimmermann, 2014). It is agreed by researches that there is a transition from episodic to semantic
memory. With that being said, not all sematic memory is developed from episodic memory. A gradual
transition from episodic to semantic memory can take place, in which episodic memory reduces its
sensitivity and association to particular events, so that the information can be generalized as semantic
memory (Episodic Sematic Memory) . This is important to understand within this process due to the
fact that this allows individuals to store information as general knowledge. Both the episodic and

(Motavalli, 2010). Selling the older vehicles to the dealer or to another company/person would allow
us to offset some of the initial costs of the new vehicles. If some of the older vehicles are still in
working order and there are no major repairs needed, retrofitting the engines to meet the new
standards could also be an alternative. The cost of this is considerably lower than the purchase of a
new vehicle and it is still as effective. In researching the data, I discovered that the use of biodiesel is
an alternative fuel source as well. This fuel, a 20/80 mixture, does not require any type of retrofitting
of the engine. This product has the added ability of cleaning out the particles that have built up by the
use of using diesel fuel throughout the engine and fuel system. These particles are expelled via the
exhaust or fuel filter. The only cost that will incur would be the cost to replace the fuel filter during the
initial uses of the product until the entire system is clean. (Biodiesel facts, et. al, 2012) Another issue
that I found in my evaluation was the routing of the trucks. There seems to be a miscommunication in
the routing department with the inbound and outbound shipments. There is a system currently,
however those that are operating it do not properly communicate across the desk so to speak. With this
lack of communication between the inbound and outbound coordinators, the loads are not being

Sigmund Freud s Purpose Of Religion
Religion has a different purpose and meaning for every individual. For some people, religion is a
major part of life, while for others religion isn t even a factor in their life. Sigmund Freud looks at
religion through a very philosophical view. Unlike many others Freud uses science and reason behind
all of his thoughts. In this essay I will be discussing Sigmund Freud s views on religion. Specifically, I
will be looking at the purpose of religion, the value of lack of value of religion and the future of
religion according to Freud. Freud uses reason and science through his points instead of belief. Using
reason is what sets Freud so far apart when talking about religion. As you see, Sigmund Freud takes a

As previously stated, Freud believes that religion was created for the purpose of establishing rules and
safety. Since we are currently at a point in civilization where we have laws that govern what is right
and wrong what is the purpose of religion? Freud believes that religion will eventually die off as time
goes on. With everyday we advance in technology and science. With this new found wealth of
knowledge we as humans have also gain reason. Freud believes that now that we have the resources
we are able to believe in reason and science instead of religion. Human civilization, by which I mean
all those respects in which human life has raised itself above its animal status and differs from the life
of beast (Freud 6). According to Freud us humans are now much more advanced compared to our
animal counterparts. Therefore, we are able to think intelligently. As we begin to advance in
civilization the fall of religion will be unavoidable based on Freud s statements. Humans are a group
of naturally curious animals. We strive to know and learn more everyday and we refuse to stop until
we know everything we can know. Religious ideas are teachings and assertions about facts and
conditions of external (or internal) reality which tell one something one has not discovered for oneself
and which lay claim to one s belief (Freud 31). Based on this Freud

Since Bristol Myers Squibb s is organized in this way, it has been able to keep the pace very well
making it one of the largest research based pharmaceutical company in the world.
Brand Name
Bristol Myers Squibb s gains competitive parity from its brand name in that it has a good reputation
for creating products that work well and are safe. This provides value to the customer because they
know that the product was heavily researched before it was marketed to the general public.
However, this is not rare among firms in this industry as all new products must be cleared by the Food
and Drug Administration before it can be marketed which gives consumers a certain amount of
security when choosing a product regardless of who produced it. This also means that it is somewhat
easy to imitate. Once you get past the start up costs, if you produce a product that is not already
patented and is approved by the FDA, your product is just as good as the competitors. The reason for
the lack of rarity and ease of imitability of the brand name is that, like other pharmaceutical
companies, Bristol Myers Squibb does not push the brand name but rather the name they have
assigned to their product. The company s name does not appear in any of its product s advertisements.
This being the case they must diversify their product line.

No one before Canadian writer director Dolan has ever tried a 1:1 a risk considering the vast majority
of modern films are screened in a 1.85:1 or 2.35:1 aspect ratio. Despite the time it takes to get used to
the restrained perspective, it works beautifully in both an aesthetic and metaphoric manner. The bold
visual trick mixed with tight shot sizes allow every moment to be emotionally sincere; the audience
can avoid distractions to the left and right of the frame and look the characters right in the eye. Even in
the most calm of scenes, if there are three characters on screen, the sequence becomes that much more
powerful. The ratio forces the audience to sit front row in the suffocating unhealthiness and, like Steve

Turner does this to make parts of the picture more apparent than others and this creates vanishing

and editing it with a digital palette, Turner is able to create vanishing points. Some of the vanishing

We could improve this motivation to read by encouraging Pupil A to read regularly for pleasure.
Pupil B was chosen as although she receives literacy support, she does not enjoy reading. She has
accessed literacy support since starting at Primary school in Year 3 and has made considerable
progress and is able to read certain texts independently however she also shows little interest in
reading for pleasure.
She is willing to read with me, as she is used to reading with adults, in a 1 1 situation, and is
comfortable with me as I have been in her class for several weeks. She is reluctant to pick a book she
in unfamiliar with and cannot think of a favourite author/book when questioned.
Pupil B begins well, with her decoding strategies revealing her processing of a text but also her phonic
knowledge. She reads the word spider lings (line 8) correctly, by segmenting the word in her head
first. She then blends ling quietly, to herself, and then asks for reassurance to put both words together.
This is because this is an unusual, unknown word, and Pupil B is unfamiliar with the term. She
stumbles over the word different (line9). She did not segment the word out loud and so it is difficult to
determine which strategy she used to decode the word. Nevertheless, it is possible that Pupil B may
have used one of two strategies. For the first strategy, it s possible that she segmented and blended the

Analysis Of D. Cross Academy
In the process of being rewritten :D
Cross Academy was a prestigious boarding school known for its state of the art education system and
gothic architecture. Countless arched windows littered around every inch of the building, showering
the interior with beams of glimmering light. Yet somehow the structure seemed to retain its somber
atmosphere. As if it housed something unknown. Cross Academy was an elite school for the rich and
talented, with an extensive campus enveloped in a thick grove of wild trees and exuberant greenery
flourishing in the new season. During this time of year chromatic flowers bloomed across the forest
floor. Large petals eagerly emerged from the flowers core after a long year of arduous waiting,
sparkling in the sun and offering the rather gloomy establishment a facade of warmth, hiding it for
what it truly was. For Cross Academy wasn t so innocent. Deep inside its matured walls held
something frightful.
Vampires.
The school day was split into two schedules. In the day, students from the sun dorms, the Day Class,
departed to the main building for their first class. However during the evening the main building
entertained the creatures of the dark. More commonly known as the Night Class. Only a select few
were aware of the existence of vampires and their presence in Cross Academy while the rest of the
pupils spent their days admiring these marvelous creatures in ignorance. During late afternoons when
day classes had finished up, one would find

Television Impact On The Television Industry
The television industry is growing, with so many genres to explore, and varying age groups producers
can target, there is always a show to watch. In western cultures the hours spent watching television has
drastically increased with the television market opens up the potential of more variety. This escalation
of television attraction has affected the way young people interact with each other. Television has
transformed the concepts of identity and commonalities among peers. To understand whether this
transformation is a good or bad, a study was done looking at the effects watching one show has on a
group of people. The study included five people, three females, and two males, all of whom are
currently watching The Vampire Dairies (TVD) based on the novels by L. J. Smith, starring Ian
Somerhalder, Paul Welsey, and Nina Dobrev. Two females who had been watching it in the past but
have sense ceased were also included in this study, in order to get the fuller picture. The accounts all
shared how the experience of watching television among young adults at the Canadian Mennonite
University has had a positive impact on their friendships. The first major theme I found during this
study was the perception everyone had about what television meant to him or her and how that
reflected how he or she defined community. No matter if it was the previews that caught their
attention, or he or she had free time to spare, or him or he had heard from friends that it was a decent
show, they

The Characteristics Of Basketball Athletes In The NBA
All great basketball players have skills, and a reason that makes them great. When people think of
professional basketball players, the first word that usually comes to mind is tall. However, that is not
always the case. There are many players that are under 6 3 and while that may sound tall to us, it is
short in the world of basketball. Surprisingly, some of the shorter players are known to be better on the
court. And they re not just known for their height... many are known for the name brands they
represent. Nike, Under Armour, Adidas, and Jordan are just a few of the brands that are promoted by
these players. All great basketball players, NBA or not, are tall. Both current and past players all have
a common trait of being tall. Lebron James 6 8 , Kevin Durant 6 10 , Jimmy Butler 6 6 . All of these
players have height, and the skills that come with it. Being tall in the NBA doesn t guarantee you are
the best players, but it does give you a significant advantage. Lebron and Kevin both have
championship rings and a numerous amount of MVP s (Most Valuable Player). These awards show
what having height and the skills that come with it This can give a huge disadvantage to the rest of the
smaller guards and forwards in the NBA. Both Kevin and Lebron developed the skills of being big
men, and once it was perfected, they developed the insane art or shooting. These two players can shoot
from anywhere, that s what makes them so dominant and un guardable. Their size only adds to the fact
that smaller players can t contest them or use their bodies against them. All great players like these
have height and the skills that come with it. All great basketball players can be short . Guards, these
are the faster, quicker, and I think more lethal players in basketball. All guards have a similar trait of
being short or shorter than most players. These short guards like Steph Curry 6 3, Damian Lillard 6 3,
and Isiah Thomas 5 9, obviously don t have the height to compete, but they do have an insane mind
set and have all of the skills to be better than anyone else. These skills are passing, shooting, and
dribbling. Guards are the most lethal players in all of the basketball leagues in my opinion. Stats

Nicole Kidman And Keith Urban Divorce Essay
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban divorce on the cards; United front at award show mere pretence!
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban are on the verge of separation as the couple is leading separate lives.
However, it looks like they do not want to feed the gossip mills and therefore, put up a united front at
the recently held InStyle Awards at Los Angeles.
The power couple Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban is drifting apart with each passing day and their
divorce can come any day, reports International Business Times. They have been leading separate
lives and their marriage is in serious trouble. A source close to the couple said that it is sad to say this
but the truth is that they are actually happier apart. This is because all they do is bicker on those ...

It would not be surprising at all if they issue a joint statement about their divorce. Notably, rumors of
trouble between the couple have been around for a while but they picked up steam in the recent past as
Keith and Nicole were not seen together despite having opportunities to hang out together.
Speaking of hangout, the couple was spotted together at the InStyle Awards function held in Los
Angeles on Oct. 24, reports Bill Board. They also seemed to be happy in each other s company as they
hugged and Urban gave Kidman a back rub while talking to actresses Laura Dern and Isla Fisher.
They spent much of the time holding hands but given the fact that they arrived separately, many feel
that it was just pretence.
Also, a week back, it had come to the light that Urban was into Scientology in his earlier days and hid
this fact from Kidman. She is alleged to have got wind of the same and is now furious that he
concealed such a big secret from her, knowing fully well how much she detests the controversial
religion.
It may be mentioned here that her ex husband Tom Cruise is an ardent follower of Scientology and the
religion is said to have played a big role in her fallout with

Bushfire Case Study
3. Identify the hazard and compare the geographical processes that occurred in each community
resulting in a natural disaster being declared. WHAT IS BUSHFIRE Bushfires are a common natural
hazard that Australia has adapted to. Through this burning that occurs, Australian fauna and flora have
adapted to the ways of bushfires. These fires spread at a fast rate and in many instances cause a
devastating effect on communities and the land. Weather Weather can primarily decide whether a
bushfire is small or large. According to the conditions the area has prior to a bushfire decides the
growth and beginning of the fire. The weather and conditions at which the fire starts also has a part in
controlling and growing the flames. With high temperatures consistently prior and during the fire, ...

Two months prior to the bushfire that devastated communities in Victoria were extremely low rainfall
and hot dry drought like conditions. This bushfire was influenced to begin as a result of the punishing
heat, low humidity and the severe drought that lasted two months in the Victoria region. The black
Saturday fires were met by temperatures that reached 46 degrees Celsius with the addition humidity
which dropped below 6%. As a result of these conditions in Kinglake the fire was easy to start and
continue as the conditions all supported the growth of a bush fire. Where as in Winmalee though the
weather played a crucial part in the fires continuation in relation to Kinglake they were not as crucial.
During the month of September Winmalee met the highest temperatures in record for NSW this then
continued into October. On the 17th of October the day that the fire began, the temperature had
reached 31.6 degrees and humidity was 11%. Though this was not as drastic in relation to the
Kinglake fire, the weather still contributed

This, according to an editorial published by the Greek newspaper Kathimerini, may be the lesson Greeks are now learning the hard way.1 Unrestrained spending of successive Greek governments over a long period may have driven the country s budget and current account deficits.2 Greece borrowed heavily from international capital markets to finance public sector jobs, pensions and other social benefits.3 As deficits and the country s debt burden grew, the governments just kept on borrowing. 4 When Greece joined the eurozone in 2001, it gained monetary stability and was able to borrow at lower interest rates ... A week later shootings occurred at universities in Arizona and Texas leaving two dead. According to a study in 2013, the FBI identified thirty nine active shooting cases in educational settings, and these cases accounted for the highest number of casualties(_). With the threat of active shootings in educational settings, many universities are trying to increase security on college campuses in order to protect students and staff members. The need for heightened security allows universities to constantly monitor the activities of students in order to create a safe environment. Sergeant Pepper s Lonely Hearts Club Band Essay On June 1st, 1967, The Beatles released Sergeant Pepper s Lonely Hearts Club Band, an album that would not have been created without the influence of psychedelic drugs. These psychedelic drugs created the energy of the album because of the relationship LSD brought to The Beatles. Before November of 1966, the band had been divided in half with the people who took LSD (George Harrison and John Lennon) and the ones who did not (Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr). In November of 1966, Paul McCartney agreed to try LSD. This agreement closed the gap between the band. The mended division between the band led to a collective consciousness between the band members and filled McCartney with a new sense of possibility, both of which were very important the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The record follows the idea of The Beatles being Sergeant Pepper s band, as some sort of alter ego, and has a beginning, middle, and end. This allowed the band to present themselves as something new and fresh by adopting the persona of a fake group (Gould 385). The concept album model set by The Beatles has been used over the past four decades by many other groups. This was not the only way that the album was revolutionary, though, the diverse compositions that allowed the album to be a cross between the uniformed brass bands of Lancashire and the ornately named acid rock groups of California caused a massive explosion of aesthetics (Gould 418). The contrast of the instruments and compositions used from song to song in the album, namely the soft ambience of imported paisley carpets and a haze of smoldering incense in George Harrison s Indian influenced song, Within You Without You vs the 40 piece orchestra in A Day in the Life , set the tone for many albums to come (Gould 387). The effect Sergeant Pepper s Lonely Hearts Club Band had on the music industry and the people of the 1960s was undeniably huge and it would not have been possible without the influence of psychedelic ... • 7. Chickpeas Temperature Experiment According to Figure 1, the production of carbon dioxide changed based on the temperature the chickpeas were placed in. It seemed that the chickpeas placed into the ice bucket at 5°C produced the most carbon dioxide; however, this is not the case since the figure is only showing measuring the amount of ppm s recorded by the carbon dioxide sensor. To get an accurate determination if temperature affected cellular respiration of chickpeas, finding the slopes of the lines was necessary which was done in Table 1. This is done by using the mathematical formula m=(y2 y1)/(x2 x1) with the y being the y coordinate and x being the x coordinate. To be consistent the coordinate points at the 10 second and 240 second mark were used to find the slope ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The chickpeas in the hottest temperature tested produced the most amount of carbon dioxide meaning that the cellular respiration rate of the chickpeas was increased. The coldest temperature tested also produced the least amount of carbon dioxide meaning cellular respiration decreased in those chickpeas. For the most part the experiment ran more smoothly than expected. A few time during testing the test chamber was knock over but these accident had a minimal effect on the final outcome. There were sudden jumps when testing the runs in Figure 1, but the jumps were never major enough to cause a retrial. These jumps can be attributed to the fact that the carbon dioxide production was taken every 10 seconds in the 240 second experiment so anything outside disturbance during that time was reflected in the data. Overall the data completely supports the hypothesis. The 42°C run produced the highest slope, the 5°C run produced the lowest slope, and the room temperature (22°) run was in between the two other slopes. The 5°C run did have the most amount of ppm s recorded, but this means nothing in the long run since the slope was still the lowest meaning it produced the least amount of carbon dioxide over the 4 minutes. The results obtained corresponded with other students in the class who also tested the relationship between cellular respiration and temperature as well as the studies discussed in the introduction ... Around the world, there is a debate over the administration of the mumps, measles, and rubella (MMR) vaccination due to the use of the preserver, Thimerasol. Thimerasol s use is controversial to the fact that the compound contains the toxic chemical element, mercury (Hg). Since Confederation, Relations Between The Canadian Federal Since Confederation, relations between the Canadian federal government and the native people of Canada have been strained due to the former existence of the Indian Residential School System. Following the passage of the Indian Act, the first residential schools were established across Canada to assimilate indigenous children into Canadian society through the forced adoption of European customs at the expense of their own culture. During its tenure, approximately 150,000 indigenous children were separated from their communities and families, and forcibly enrolled into residential schools where many would be subjected to physical, and psychological abuses. The articles of these treaties were often detrimental to the native people who partook since the compensation provided for their lands was inadequate, often leaving them dispossessed of traditional territories and dependent on a prejudiced federal government s aid. Consequently, many aboriginal people were relocated to remote reserves where, despite being granted limited self government, essential services were scarce and living conditions were deplorable. It was on the reserves that many residential schools were built since the provision of education was a contingency specified by the natives in exchange for their lands. Recognizing its historically unfair payment for native lands and its failure to adequately deliver on the clauses outlined by the natives in the treaties, such as the supply of quality education, the federal government has negotiated twenty six comprehensive land claims since 1973. These new treaties have restored native ownership to over 600,000 km of lost lands, transferred capital exceeding $3.2 billion, and have upheld native ways of life including the right to self government. The Pros And Cons Of Sin In Christianity Sin is a religious interpretation of the morals of society, claiming immoral things to be a violation of a higher law; in Christianity s case, God s Law. All religions, since they were first created, have in some way, discussed sin. Sin is a method of creating the moods and motivations for acting justly in society. People are encouraged to refrain from doing something because it is a sin. Sin is thought to be universally understood and believed by all followers of a religion. However, there is debate over whether sin is truly universal. Sin in Christianity is widely interpreted with many different views on what is sinful. Within Christianity, acts deemed as sinful vary depending on denominations, societal standards, and the situation in which it happens. Across Christianity there is variation about what is considered sinful. Different denominations interpret and teach the Bible in different ways. One example is homosexuality. Some Christian denominations consider homosexuality to be a sin while others do not. The Primitive Baptist denomination, which includes the Westboro Baptist Church, is intensely conservative when it comes to viewing homosexuality as a sin . The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is one of the more welcoming Christian denominations to the LGBTQ community, who celebrate same sex marriages, so therefore do not view homosexuality as a sin . The question that arises now is which forces act upon the lung tissue to create the trans pulmonary/alveolar and finally the compliance of the lung? To answer it one has to look closer at the structure of the pulmonary tissue, which is found to be elastic. Interwoven into the parenchyma we can find elastin and collagen fibers which determine the elastic forces of the lung. The other big factor playing it s role is the surface tension of the fluid lining the alveolus. II. There s the effective method, which is a solution that simply solves the problem at hand. However, simply solving a problem is never enough. Therefore, this is why we usually revert to finding an efficient method of problem solving. Efficiency is the ultimate goal for all manufacturers and businesses as this is where the big bucks come from. It is very important that these big companies find these efficient solutions in order to minimize their losses whilst maximizing their profits. Benjamin Disraeli, a British writer from the 19th century once said that, there can be economy only where there is efficiency . Efficiency is the basis of all large production companies. They re main goal is to be able to produce their product at a fast enough rate, whilst keeping the production costs at a minimum. Companies must take a lot of small factors in mind when it comes to production. Assessment of labour costs, material costs and time is key when it comes to figuring out how to minimize the cost of production. An oversimplified equation to represent efficiency is, Output ÷ Input = Efficiency. In the eyes of a manufacturer, the output would represent their product sale cost and the input would represent the production cost. Every successful production company must realize the importance of efficiency. For example, if you look at a car company and look behind the scenes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. Chemical Reaction Of Mentos The scope of this paper is to explain the reaction that takes place when Mentos are dropped into Diet Coke. This experiment is used frequently because of what happens when the candy meets the soda. A geyser is formed that shoots out of the bottle that resembles a volcanic eruption. Due to the similarity, it is also used for volcano projects. Depending on the alterations to the Mentos and/or Diet Coke, the geyser can either go much higher or much lower than normal. This reaction has produced much confusion among people about whether it is a physical or chemical reaction. It is a physical reaction because the substances remained the same, the reaction did not form a new substance. (Coffey) What creates the physical reaction is water molecules that go into the pores on the Mentos. The rough surface of Mentos allow this to happen. The water molecules grow to create carbon dioxide bubbles on the outside of the candy. The Mentos gain buoyancy, which means they rise to the surface of the soda. After this occurs, there is increased bubble formation, resulting in the liquid turning to foam and shooting out of the bottle. Bubble formation is also increased by the gum arabic and gelatin in the Mentos combining with the potassium benzoate, sugar, and aspartame in the Diet Coke. (Hiskey, Mental Floss) As stated above, there are alterations that speed the reaction. These include decreasing the surface tension of the Diet Coke, performing an acid base reaction, and warming the Diet Coke. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This also describes about a boy who you can tell is very easily influenced by peer pressure. He is failing classes and when he gets a tutor, it doesn t get much better by the end of the story. The boy Donny also gets caught with alcohol in his locker. His mom is starting to get fed up with his behavior, but his tutor Cal still does believe it is him. • 30. Reflection About Geography Every other year, my high school offers a College in the Schools (CIS) geography course. In this course, there is one assignment that all the upperclassmen would always complain about. As an underclassman, I had dreaded the year that I was going to be receiving this assignment due to having a tendency to save my projects for last minute. I will never forget the map that taught me that procrastination makes the process of completing assignments more difficult, especially on a project that is for a college class. In the beginning of November 2016, my junior year, our college geography class received our quarter project: a map of the world. Our teacher, Mr.Sharstrom, assigned our class a large number of physical features that our maps needed to include such as rivers, lakes, islands, mountain ranges, seas, oceans, and deserts. Mr.Sharstrom required us to include all seven continents and a key that showed distinctions in the different physical features of the world. The maps needed to be to scale and show a minimum amount of distortion as possible. When we received our project, our geography teacher warned us, This project will be time consuming and you will not want to wait until the week before to start your maps. After communicating expectations with the class, a majority of my classmates began to work on their maps. I knew that my family was traveling to Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, for Thanksgiving break, so I wanted to attempt to complete as much of the map as possible ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. The Fifth Child by Doris Lessing The Fifth Child is the masterpiece of Nobel Prize winner Doris Lessing. Lessing herself described it as a horror story, but we can also put it into the genre of social psychological novels. She declared: I hated writing it. It was sweating blood. I was very glad when it was done. It was an upsetting thing to write obviously, it goes very deep into me somewhere. It is a brilliant novel which deals not just with the social aspect of family life in England at the end of 19th century but with human psyches in general. Harriet and David Lovatt are a conventional and traditional couple who met at the office party and immediately fell in love because of the similar interests that they share. One of their common desires is to have a pretty family house in the country and produce a large family of six or eight children. All of their friends, family members and relatives are completely shocked by their odd wish. Slowly they start building a family life; they buy a huge house in the country, and have the first baby. Ever since they have their first baby their house is full of family members, relatives and friends for every holiday, just like they have always dreamed of. Besides the fact that Harriet does not have easy pregnancies and all the work she has to do makes her completely exhausted, she enjoys having a house full of people and to impose on them with her perfect life. If some of the older vehicles are still in working order and there are no major repairs needed, retrofitting the engines to meet the new standards could also be an alternative. The cost of this is considerably lower than the purchase of a new vehicle and it is still as effective. In researching the data, I discovered that the use of biodiesel is an alternative fuel source as well. This fuel, a 20/80 mixture, does not require any type of retrofitting of the engine. This product has the added ability of cleaning out the particles that have built up by the use of using diesel fuel throughout the engine and fuel system. This provides value to the customer because they know that the product was heavily researched before it was marketed to the general public. Once you get past the start up costs, if you produce a product that is not already patented and is approved by the FDA, your product is just as good as the competitors.
