The Plant Of A Pipeline
Introduction
Pigging is a critical activity in the commissioning and operation of a pipeline; oil, gas, water or
otherwise. For flow assurance the pipeline needs to be cleared of debris and checked for defects, tasks
pigs were designed for. The pig needs a method of entering and exiting the pipeline, so a mobile or
fixed launcher and receiver are utilised depending on the exact requirements.
Pig Launching and Receiving Basics
A pig launcher and receiver, also known as a pig trap, are equipment designed to pump in the pig
through the pipeline system and to retrieve the pig at the end of the operation. They can be mobile
(pigging of construction section) or fixed in the pipeline system. The location of the launcher is
located at the upstream end of the pipeline system, near the pump or compressor, while the receiver is
at the end of the system.
The launcher can be installed in a horizontal, vertical or inclined position. Most are installed
horizontally to ease the operation and it is therefore the most preferable. However, due to space limits,
vertical or incline pig traps are often considered. The launcher, receiver and all related equipment are
designed, manufactured and tested according to the pipeline and vessel code standards e.g.; NACE,
ASME VIII, BS 5500, ANSI, ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, etc.
A pig trap is essential to get a potential result of product saving. It means that there is no requirement
for adding an extensive line flushing as the pig cleaned out the

Klimt s Beliefs
Karnes message is that Wagner has not received the praise and consideration he deserves. Karnes is
bitter that popular writers, such as Carl E. Schorske, have neglected Wagner s influence on Nietzsche
in their works. In addition, Wagner was inspired by Schopenhauer, which is seen through Wagner s
creativity. Wagner s Schopenhauer inspired view explores the depths of the unconscious mind,
allowing us to view a world within ourselves. Wagner s inspired view greatly influenced Klimt s
works. Klimt s works encapsulate a nationalistic view of Austria and its culture. Klimt s Nuda Veritas
contains philosophical commentary on modern society, which is Schopenhauer inspired. Another work
by Klimt, the Beethoven Frieze, is a bold expression that

Bullying Is The Job Of Parents And Schools
Bullying is when you force someone to do something they do not want to, and it can cause stress or
then leads to suicide in some cases. In Schoolyard Bullies by Stephanie Simon, prosecutor James
Backstrom maintains school bullies should go to jail. However, I do not think bullies should go to jail,
because there are different degrees of bullying. Some bullies are victims, and sending bullies to jail
does not cure them. Stopping bullying is the job of parents and schools. Parents play a key role in
preventing and responding to bullying. Parents should recognize the warning signs that the child is
involved in bullying. Children could be being bullied, bullying others, or witnessing bullying.
Although these signs could signal other issues, parents should talk to their children if they display any
sort of behavioral or emotional changes. Many times children won t ask for help, so it is important to
know what to look for. If the child is at immediate risk of harming himself or others, parents need to
get help right away. Just sending the children who are bullies to go to jail, and doing jail time are not a
good way to correct children s behaviors. I understand the rationale . . . , but incarceration is a fairly
big stick, says Susan Limber, a bullying expert at Clemson University. You can get the same payoff
with a lot less drastic measures (Simon 2). Moreover, if the children go to jail, they might not change
their mind, even though their behavior will be

Similarities Between The Great Gatsby And Romeo And Juliet
Baz Luhrmann film study
The Great Gatsby and Romeo Juliet
Introduction
Baz Luhrmann is an Australian born director. He is known for his adaptation of Romeo and Juliet in
1996 and The Great Gatsby in 2013, amongst others such as Strictly Ballroom and The Moulin Rouge.
He is the creator of Red Curtain Cinema and in his eccentric filming methods: highlights important
themes and ideas through the fast pace, camera angles, and use of modern music in period films.
Luhrmann is eccentric and unconventional in his filming as he illustrates ideas and themes to modern
audiences while still working with older texts. He uses Red Curtain Cinema in all his movies. Red

The use of guns in Romeo and Juliet is essential and is possibly the most important prop used in the
film. The guns replace swords, illustrating the violence between the Montague and Capulet feud.
Similarly, the importance of props to convey and highlight an important idea from the original text is
also evident in The Great Gatsby. Jay Gatsby s signet ring and cane are frequently displayed:
indicative of Jay s stature. Luhrmanns use of cars and the obvious colour similarities in both movies is
evident. In Romeo and Juliet cars are another tool used to demonstrate the Montague and Capulet
feud, the cars are opposite colours: blue for Montague and yellow for Capulet. The use of opposing
hotel buildings with the words Montague and Capulet further reinforce the importance of the feud
from the original text in the film. In The Great Gatsby the use of yellow and blue coloured cars is
similar to that of Romeo and Juliet displaying the opposing parties, Jay Gatsby (yellow) and Tom

The Historical And Evolutionary Process That Occurred Essay
To fully understand the significance of our historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU s), we
must examine the historical and evolutionary process that occurred in early education. Education
during the colonial period included a strong emphasis on the bible. Leaders wanted students to be able
to read and apply biblical principles. Education was primarily used for ministerial purposes. Another
primary purpose of education during the countries early development was to serve as a means of
distinguishing class among its citizens. Although most educational concepts were influenced by
Eurocentric ideologies, as the colonies gained independence, other aims emerged including providing
a common language, instilling patriotism, developing unity and a common purpose. Early leaders
considered school as a way of protecting the new nation by establishing loyalty. You may recognize
some of the practices are still in place like siting the pledge at the beginning of school. What is
important to note is that education was provided for wealthy White males. Poor people, people of
color, slaves and women were not included in the plans for an educated society. This paper will
describe, the formation of the first Black Colleges, the current state of affairs, and conclude with the
cultural significance of HBCU s. Segregation During the era of slavery in this nation, the education of
slaves was frowned on and often forbidden. By denying Blacks an education, Whites believed they

The “rightness” of Native American boarding school Essay
In the 1870s, the U.S. government enacted a policy of assimilation of Native Americans, to
Americanize them. Their goal was to turn them into white men. Schools were an important part of
facilitating their goal. In 1879, Richard Henry Pratt founded the Carlisle Indian School. It was the first
school in which Native American children were culturally exposed to American ideology. The idea for
the boarding school first came through treatment of Cheyenne warriors. In the 1860s, Americans were
in the midst of a major western migration. Settlers were moving into the western region, pushing
natives off lands, and in some cases, killing livestock. Warriors then took revenge on settlers and
soldiers. General Sherman called for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pratt then turned his attention to native children. He saw the example of the Hampton Institute for
Negroes, which taught children industrial skills. He concluded that to transform natives, one had to
start with the children. In 1879, the government consented to Pratt s request. He went to Dakota
Territory to find students for his new Carlisle Indian School in Pennsylvania. Pratt determined the
only way to change them was assimilation through total immersion. The school was established in an
abandoned army post. The children wore military uniforms and cut their hair. In the first few years, the
children suffered epidemics of cholera, influenza, and tuberculosis. As a result, they made a cemetery
on the school.
Lack of cultural diversity
Ethnocentrism
Social workers strive to keep the uniqueness of individuals and communities. The preservation of
diversity honors the distinctiveness of individuals and communities. Boarding schools were genocidal
to the cultural structure of Native Americans. They were forced to assimilate to the image of the white
man: It disjointed family structure, dishonored their cultural differences and language. Children placed
in these schools were deprived of learning their heritage. Pratt s goal of humanizing Native Americans
is the basis of ethnocentrism. Pratt like many Americans during this time believed American culture
was the only and right way of life. Although most cultures have, tendencies of

organization whose leadership style is that of servant leaders. The second part of this investigation
focused on training as an antecedent of organizational performance in a servant leadership
environment. Dr. Herb Shaffer (Institute for Servant Leadership), Dr. Bill Jones (Area Director for the
Church of God in Michigan) and Dr. Rebecca New Edson (Area Director for the Church of God in
Western Pennsylvania), professional trainers were also interviewed. These interviews were comprised
of questions focusing on training in a servant leadership environment and the impact on organizational
performance. Discussions and Results section of this research paper outline the findings.
Limitations
A limitation of this research may be the length of time on the job and the relationship of trust
demonstrated by followers based on the trustworthy behaviors of the leader. The measurement of
emotional intelligence, which leads to trust, may be another factor that influenced the trust rating.
Analysis and Discussion Voluntary and anonymous surveys completed by eight out of twelve Chick fil

Effective Communication Among Group And Team Functioning
Communication is the sharing of ideas, thoughts and information between or among individuals. The
way we communicate varies greatly among cultures throughout the world and has an extremely
powerful impact within group and team environments. Effective communication enables us to engage
in enriching social interaction with others, and allows for the creation of environments where group
and team functioning can flourish. As simple as communication may seem, much of what we express
to others has the tendency of getting misunderstood, therefore acquiring a skilled set of
communication skills is crucial to the overall success of a team and group. Effective communication is
more than simply sharing information. It is important to understand the true meaning and emotion
behind the expressed information, and this can often become quite difficult when the subjectivity and
complexity of nonverbal cues gets thrown into the mix. Throughout this paper, the meaning of
communication and its application to group and team functioning will be explored, as well as the
powerful impact it has in the health care setting. Effective communication amongst members of the
health care team promotes teamwork and possessing an experienced and competent set of
communication skills as a nurse is absolutely critical in providing safe, therapeutic and reliable care to
patients. Similarities and Differences Between Groups and Teams All teams are groups, but not all
groups are teams (Zayed Kamel, 2005).

Social Darwinism During The Gilded Age
Social Darwinism was a popular term during the late 19th century. According to Social Darwinism,
the human race evolves only through competition and only the fit survive while the weak cease to
exist. Therefore Social Darwinism applied during the Gilded age meant that the wealthy represented
the fit, whereas the poor represented the weak. Wealthy men like John D. Rockefeller used this to
justify their tremendous wealth gain. However, American industries expanded rapidly; new
technologies and innovations came about and took over the cities which increased production. Many
of Americans and immigrants migrated to the cites to get jobs; but the working conditions during the
time were very poor. Employees worked long hard hours in harsh environments and received little
pay, which caused many people to live in poverty. This poverty issue formulated the theory of Social
Darwinism. Many people used this theory to justify the distinction between the rich and the poor.
Social Darwinism also allowed businessmen to have merit because it allowed them to expand and earn
money. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rockefeller was the world s most wealthiest man of his time. He was the founder of the Standard Oil
company. During his time being alive he collected over 336 billion dollars. Rockefeller achieved this
by using horizontal integration. Horizontal integration is where you buy out your competition and
Rockefeller did this but you can also say that by buying out his competition it created a monopoly.
Anyway John D. Rockefeller s assertion on Social Darwinism was that if you were made rich then it
was God s will. Rockefeller also said that the growth of a large business is merely a survival of the
fittest. Rockefeller donated over 500 million dollars to different causes such as Universities and the

you frantically think of your chances of being able to swim away from this monster coming your

John Towner Williams was born in New York City on February 8, 1932. He acquired his love of music
from his father who was a musician in the city. His passion for music took a three year hiatus when
Williams was drafted in the U.S. Airforce in 1951, after which he returned to New York City to work
as a jazz pianist while attending the Julliard School of Music. It was during his studies in Julliard
where Williams decided to become a composer, humorously because he thought the competition for
concert pianists was too high. After graduating from Julliard he moved to Los Angeles in the 1950s
and began working as a movie studio musician. He worked as a pianist for a few years before given
the opportunity to start composing his own music: Gilligan s Island and Lost in Space were some he
had a part in composing. This was also around the same time that he started working with the big
screen movies as well. He received an Academy Award nomination for Valley of the Dolls (1967),
then went on to win an Academy Award for his music in Fiddler on the Roof (1972). This was when

If more quantity is sprayed, more thickness will be obtained. But the thickness cannot be built up more
than a finite value. After a certain thickness the heterogeneous reaction get stopped resulting to

sprayed every time on to the substrate with the above said parameter.
d. The precursor and its concentration Concentration of the solution is an important parameter
deciding the nature of the thin film in the spray pyrolysis method. High concentration of the solution
will yield powdery deposits because of quick evaporation of the solution. Also the thickness of the
film is not uniform. Less concentration of the solution will lower the substrate temperature and that
will also lead to homogeneous deposits. So a compromise in the concentration of the solution should
be made. In this study the home made nebulizer used at precursor concentration 0.2 M. e. Rate flow of

low solution not reaches the substrate. So the pressure should optimum to get better

Finding Forrester: An Analysis

Finding Forrester is one of the best movies to come out during its time. It was focused on the story of
boy who is looking for a role model and finding it in the most unexpected place and the most
unexpected person. The movie tells about the journey not just of Jamal Wallace but also of the journey
of William Forrester especially during the last few years of his life. It was a story that presented life in
its beginning and its ending and how the two are intertwined. Wallace s life was just beginning while
Forrester s was ending. Somehow, they bumped into each other and stood side by side during a
particular time wherein the crossroads they both have to face on their own seem to be found in one ...

The movie was dependent on the story line itself and not on visual effects. The story is about an
individual s experience bereft of any sci fi or hard action scenes that did not necessitate the need for
more complex and demanding art direction. Posters and other teasers released for the film often comes
in the warm colors of brown, yellow and something akin to sepia tone which is very warm and
compliments the warmth on the face and character of Sean Connery. The art direction also settled for
easily readable typography. Photography captured the softness in the physical characteristics of
Connery and Brown and transforms it as visual cue for the audience to lead them towards feeling the
unexpected emotional bond that these two men will share in the story.
Acting
As one of Sean Connery s dramatic movies that earned many positive remarks from critics, Finding
Forrester can be judged acting wise as a movie that reflects the emotional acting style of both Connery
and Brown. As usual, Connery brings to the table his father like demeanor that enhanced his acting,
while Brown was effective in playing the student who looks for an idol to look up to, and finding it in
Connery s character in the movie. Connery was effective in acting out the recluse, solitary literary
genius and was able to communicate to the audience through his acting the changes in his emotional
state but not allowing the audience to guess into the future of the

American raised in the deep south during the civil rights movement. It gave us a look at what many

woman s struggle for her basic rights in a hostile environment. This book begins with the life of its
author. She starts out as basically a slave child on a farm in Mississippi. She tells of her parent s lives,
how they went to the fields at sun up and came back from them at sundown. She describes her abusive

industries have been built in unplanned way at the congested places of Hazaribag during the last fifty
years. At present during the peak monsoon about 21 thousand and 600 cubic meters of liquid toxic
wastes are dumped daily into the river Buriganga from the 185 tannery industries of Hazaribag. There
is no alternative way to dump this liquid toxic waste at the time of continuous production of tannery

Unfortunately a recent observation of Hazaribagh clearly shows an active decay and destruction

The potential of the free African American was acknowledged even when they were the most
oppressed beings in the country. As more white people immigrated to America, the fear of losing out
to the black person in the labor force was pronounced. According to W.E.B Dubois, immigrant
workers (mostly from Europe), wanted a chance to become capitalists; and they found that chance
threatened by the competition of a working class whose status at the bottom of the economic structure
seemed permanent and inescapable (18). The threat of this working class which included freemen and
fugitive slaves in the north, was considered by the white supremacist laborers, cause for acts of terror

diagnosed with Asperger s Syndrome (now referred to as Autism Spectrum Disorder) as a child. These
reports not only perpetuated stigmatic ideas surrounding mental illness, but also bolstered a fear of

By adding to the already numerous amount of headlines surrounding Adam Lanza s diagnosis, First

good aspect about this article, though, was the inclusion of information on Asperger s Syndrome by
psychologist Laugeson and psychologist Eric Butter. The article listed poor social skills, repetitives
behaviors and interests, and poor communication as common symptoms of Asperger s Syndrome and
general autism. They also stated that Asperger s Syndrome differs from autism, as delays in mental

Australian society, there is a need for legislation to regulate family relationships. When these
regulations are necessary, the Family Court of Australia and the Federal Magistrates Court of Australia
implement them. As the primary objective of family law is to protect children, adoption is treated with
sensitivity under the law. Strict regulations imposed by the adoption laws in Queensland however,
make it much too difficult for Australians to adopt children from overseas, and are in need of
amendment. The law regarding intercountry adoption in Queensland discriminates against ... Show

This is likely correlated with Australia s overall decline in intercountry adoptions. Since the Hague
convention was implemented, adoptions from Australian citizens declined by approximately 74%. In
addition to this, 94% of adoptees that came from overseas were from Asia, 6% were from
South/Central America, and there were no finalised adoptions from Africa or other regions. This
distribution reflects the number of countries in each region with which Australia has an adoption
program, and the characteristics of these programs. As well as this, the typical waiting period for
families who adopted a child from overseas in 2014 15 was a period of over five years. It would
undoubtedly be beneficial not only to Australian citizens desiring to adopt, but also to an immense
number of orphaned children, if the Hague convention reached African countries, or made it easier to
adopt from those countries that are not under the convention

Loretta and Iggy realized who Max was, KIller Kane s son. However Max never liked talking about
his dad, or even looking like his dad. Another adventure with Max and Freak was the hospital. Freak

Comparing the Ways in Which a Tabloid Newspaper and a Broadsheet
Newspaper Treat the Same News Story
The death of John Thaw was announced in national newspapers on the Friday 22nd of February 2002.
In my essay I am going to compare the story of John Thaws death from two newspapers. These
newspapers are the Mirror, which is a tabloid and the Times which is a broadsheet.
Tabloid newspapers include the Sun, Star, and Mirror. Broadsheet newspapers include the Gaurdian,
Times, and the Daily Telegraph.
The differences between a broadsheet and a tabloid are the size, a tabloid newspaper is half the size of
a broadsheet. You need a lower reading age to read a tabloid because there are shorter articles, ...

However the broadsheet also covers minority sports, like polo and archery.
In the times newspapers the article about John Thaws death is at the bottom of the page. It s not very
noticible, it s not the lead story, the lead story is about politics. Also the article doesn t contain any
pictures. It consists of six, two inch columns. In the Mirror the article is the lead story. They dedicate
almost half the front page to John Thaw plus the whole of page seven, also there are seven photos of
John Thaw throughout his life.
The headline in the Times is small and doesn t stand out, it gives the main details and it s factual, the
headline is also present tense John Thaw dies , this is present tense so that readers think they are
getting the latest news. The headline in the Mirror is huge, black and bold, it s also short and stark,
and not a complete sentence. The headline is emotive Morse star John dead , this stirs the emotions of
the readers. The headline contains all one syllable words and it is also in the present tense.
In the opening paragraph of a newspaper article the journalist usually uses the four w s which are who,
what, where, and when. This is the key information of the article, readers usually make the decision
whether to read ahead if they want more detail, based on the photographs, headlines, and the first

For better or worse, zoos are how most people come to know big or exotic animals. Few will ever see

The Persian Invasion Of Greece
Introduction Through the manuscripts of Herodotus, an ancient historian who hailed from the
mountainous lands of Greece, modern day historians have been granted the ability to piece together
the multitude of events that supposedly transpired during the years 480 and 479 BC between the
Persian empire and the city states of the classical Greece (Herodotus). The second Persian invasion of
Greece, which took place in the previously mentioned years, was a part of the many series of battles
and encounters that made up the Greco Persian Wars. This invasion in particular, however, probably
saw one of the most distinguished battles in ancient European warfare befall. As a whole, the second
Persian invasion of Greece consisted of several battles that transpired within a close proximity of one
another chronologically. The war itself was fairly short lived, even for its time, lasting only the course
of approximately one year. The battles themselves took place in Thermopylae, Artemisium, Salamis,
Platae, and Mycale (Setzer). The Persian invasion forces were led by King Xerxes I of Persia, the son
of Darius I of Persia. Prior to the reign of Xerxes I, King Darius I had wanted to take control of
ancient Greece. As such, he ordered two campaigns which made up the first Persian invasion of
Greece. Much to his hindrance, however, Darius I breathed his last breath before he was presented
with the opportunity to carry out a second invasion. King Xerxes I, who was the successor of Darius I,

Hamlet And Ophelia In Shakespeare s Hamlet
In the Shakespeare play hamlet, Hamlet tries to hide a lot of emotions. In the play hamlet and ophelia
are said to be in love or that Ophelia loves hamlet. Although people believe they are in love, Hamlet
does not really act like he does love her. In the play, Hamlet has an unknown relationship with ophelia
that could be fake; But there could be some reasoning behind the relationship and why he would be
using her. Throughout the play Hamlet does not treat Ophelia well and sometimes even insults her. He
had said many times Get thee to a nunnery (III.I). He would often say this throughout this
conversation as another way to make her feel bad. That he was trying to hurt but still look as if he
loved her to others. Also later when Ophelia talks about what happened she said He took me by the
wrist and held me hard (II.I). That in the conversation between hamlet and Ophelia when Hamlet was
not verbally hurting her, he would sometimes get physical. Hamlet would often use this as a way to
show how insane he was getting. Also when Ophelia was talking to Polonius she said And thrice his
head thus waving up and down (II.I). This is another example of when Hamlet do things to make
himself seem more insane. Also he is using Ophelia again as a way to spread about himself that he
wants. So Hamlet would verbally and sometimes physically hurt her to get her to do what he wants.
Hamlet had felt that he would have a better connection to the people around him if he was with
Ophelia.

The Theory Of Mind ( Tom )
Theory of mind (ToM) is the ability to differentiate one s own mental state from others and therefore,
influence the behaviour accordingly. Mental states comprise of the individual s desires, beliefs and
intentions. ToM is considered to be a milestone in psychosocial development as pre schoolers at the
age of 4 or 5 tend to be able to recognise that not everyone perceive the same reality as they do
(Wellman, Cross Watson, 2001). This is known as false belief and is an important skill in
comprehending and predicting people s emotions and actions to construct a meaningful relationship.
Many have argued that ToM coincides with language acquisition providing a mechanism to apprehend
mental states within one s cognition (Karmiloff Smith, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the natural language leading to a successful ToM maturation. Moreover, a cochlear implant can
improve a hearing impaired child s communication skills, which benefits social functioning, but still
lag considerably behind in ToM compared to normally hearing peers. The outcomes of a delayed ToM
do not occur in a particular order nor should they be considered as distinct features. Rather, the
consequences are intertwined whereby one particular aspect can affect the other. For a deaf child, their
natural language is signing (Mayer Leigh, 2010). Auslan or other variations of signing is instinctive to
a deaf individual because it is the language that they can form coherent sentences and explicit
semantics to engage in a discourse. Although language is predominately symbols rather than verbal or
written compared to a deaf child s normally hearing peers, it still allows the child to apprehend mental
states in their cognition and conceive others around. Therefore, studies have shown that these children
can do just as well, or even better, on false belief tests than hearing children (Marschark Clark, 1998).
In other words, despite being diagnosed as deaf or hard of hearing, native signers typically show no
delayed ToM and the implication is higher control of behaviours, or executive functioning, and

When I arrive at a job I can t take care of, says plumber s assistant Jim Larson, the customer gets

Telling them they have to have someone else come out doesn t go over well.
On the other hand, when a plumber responds to a job easily handled by a plumber s assistant, the

resent being sent to do such simple work.

How Did Marat Contribute To The French Revolution
Jean Paul Marat was an important figure in the French revolution because of his tactful writing style,

To start, Jean Paul Marat was an important figure in the French Revolution because of his tactful
writing style. The title of his Newspaper that was published during the duration of the French

I chose to do my multi genre project on the Twenties. The Twenties have also interested me and that
unit was by far my favorite this semester, so it only seemed right to go deeper into and expand my

The Formation of Arab Nations
The Formation of Arab Nations Much of the modern political Arab world was born at the end of
World War I, as outside powers divided up their shares of territories that were loyal to their regimes.
For example, Iraq, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon came to exist along side the precarious state of
Palestine. By World War II, these states had begun to want independence, and the following decades
would witness revolution, regime change, violence, and, ultimately, a break from the grips of the

ongoing now for several years, are in part as a result of mid 20th century political rule and

Jordan continues to serve as the place of escape for Arabs fleeing unstable places. Refugees from Iraq,

understand this agreement means that the US is required to continue support Jordan indefinitely

alternatives for Massey to finance it s business going forward is to either find savings from it s
Balance sheet and income statement or to sell it s assets. In below we discuss some opportunities we
ve identified in Massey s financials.

First Aid for Adults Essay
First Aid for Adults
For my listening piece I decided to do a talk on first aid for adults. I identified the main characteristics
of scripted speech and tried to emulate them in my piece. The key characteristics of instructional
speech are that it uses very short, concise sentences to give directions. Long complex sentences can
lead to ambiguity and confusion. Instructional speech uses simple, easy to understand vocabulary as
complicated wording, jargon and terminology make instructions difficult to understand and may
confuse the listener. The points must also be presented in a logical order to make them easy to follow.
The audience should be addressed directly, using a fairly personal, ... Show more content on

In my third and fourth drafts, I put the information into even smaller blocks to emphasise the succinct
style of writing because I felt that it was still too difficult to follow; so I used more bullet points and
used capitals, underlining and italics to emphasise key words and phrases. Also in the graphology of
the piece I have used dashes in order to more effectively show where the reader would give a slight
pause. An example is in a hundred compressions a minute just under two a second .
In the third paragraph in particular, the sentences were too complex so having originally written them
as one complex sentence in the pluperfect tense, I broke them down in to one point per sentence and
put them in the present tense so that it would be easier to understand. I also changed some of the verbs
that were in the present tense into the imperative form because it made the phonology sharper and
clearer for the audience to hear. One example is in the sentence After you have returned to the casualty
and rechecked their breathing and they are not breathing or if the likely cause of unconsciousness is
trauma or drowning and they are not breathing, you now give two rescue breaths . The sentence was
much too long and confusing so I changed it to When you return to the casualty re check their
breathing. If they are not breathing or if the likely cause

Burger King
Case Study: Burger King Beefs Up
By Janet Mosha
Burger King is the world s largest chain of flame broiled fast food restaurants. Its core competency is
its flame broiled burgers; whereas other fast food hamburger joints serve fried burgers or no burgers at
all, Burger King offers the unique flame broiled burgers with any options that a customer might like,
consumers have the benefit of having a burger they cannot find elsewhere. Initially Burger King only
sold burgers, fries, shakes, and sodas; but they have chosen to expand to offering chicken, fish, salads
etc. Although they offer these extra items, they have elected to stay true to their original flame broiled
burgers and their chosen strategy is to focus on the whopper as their ... Show more content on

When people are in a center like environment for example a mall then it is easier to pick whatever
food is there rather than to look elsewhere and return to hang out or shop; therefore Burger King
would have an upper hand if it is one of the foods available.
Burger King is headquartered in Miami, because of its near proximity to Latin America. This strategic
position has allowed Burger King to ensure its presence in the Latin community. The South Americans
who make a pit stop in Miami in order to enter the United States are familiarize themselves with the
Burger King products, and Burger King is also able to test the products on indigenous Latin
community, before expanding to the Latin countries without the fear of undergoing rejection. This
location in Miami has simplified their entry into the Latin countries and businesses seeking franchises
find it easier to work with them. Burger King has strengthened their global competitive position in the
Latin countries, but we find that these countries are not heavily populated; they should also try to
expand to denser populations like those of China, India, Nigeria etc. this could prove to be more
profitable in the long run. Burger King can use the South American countries to understand how to
expand appropriately in other

A Comparison Of The Tariff Of 1828 And The Nullification...
As the result of economic issues, such as the the Tariffs of Abominations in 1828 and the Nullification
Crisis in 1832, it becomes apparent that Jackson did what he thought was best for the country. At the
beginning of his presidency, Congress passed a protective tariff, the Tariff of 1828, that put taxes on
import goods, such as iron and wool. The tariffs were designed to protect the infant industries in the
Northern states from British goods driving them out of business. Although it seemed like a good idea,
this tariff only benefitted the North. The southerners (especially South Carolina) were enraged since
they relied heavily on those imports. Not only that, it was harmful to the South since they had to pay
higher prices on imported necessities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The choice was made and South Carolina s legislature established the Ordinance of Nullification,
which announce the Tariffs of 1828 and 1832 unconstitutional, and thereby ineffective and void. The
doctrine professed that if a state found a federal law illegitimate and detrimental to its absolute
interests, it would have the power to abolish that law within its borders. Southerners saw it as a
protection against federal intrusion on their rights and threatened to separate if the federal government
pursued to collect the tariff duties. Upon hearing this, Jackson became infuriated and acted quickly. He
pushed Congress to pass the Force Bill, which gave Jackson the authority to use military force to
collect the tariff when needed. It was an attempt to force South Carolina to comply with the Tariff
although it didn t succeed. An armed encounter was averted when Henry Clay proposed a
compromised which gradually lowered the tax rates over the next ten years, known as the
Compromised of 1833. Despite the actions of Andrew Jackson in this situation, he did what he thought
was best for the industries and their economy. Even though it was damaging to the South, it had to be

The School Of Criminology
What is criminology, what are its key task and questions, and how does criminology challenge
Common Sense Understanding of Crime ? Criminology may be defined as the scientific commitment
to the gathering of fact (Walkate,2003) or as defined by the Collins dictionary as the scientific study of
crime and criminals. The common sense notion of crime is information acquired through personal

outline what criminology is as a subject and the concept of its two main schools of thought classical

Essay On Driving Under The Influence
Driving under the influence (DUI) is a serious criminal offense in Georgia. While most offenses are
considered a misdemeanor, drivers can still face serious consequences. This is why it is always a good
idea to contact a DUI lawyer immediately after being arrested.
What Is Considered a DUI?
In Georgia, drivers may be charged with a DUI if police suspect that someone is driving under the
influence. In most cases, you must have a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent or more. However, it
can be as low as 0.04 percent for those driving a commercial vehicle. For those under 21 years of age,
driving with an alcohol blood content of just 0.02 percent can result in a DUI.
Penalties for Driving Under the Influence
There are many possible penalties for driving under the influence. ... Show more content on

In most cases, drivers are allowed to drive to their place of employment. They may also be able to
drive to dependency classes, community service, and doctor appointments. However, all driving
activity must be planned in advance.
Ignition Interlock Device
For those with multiple offenses on their record, the state of Georgia may require the driver to install
an ignition interlock device. This device might sound intimating, but it s actually a simple tool. Before
the vehicle will start, the driver must take a breathalyzer. If the device detects any alcohol, the vehicle
will start up. While it s simple enough, it can be overly sensitive. For example, mouthwash or cooking
brandy could trigger the device.
While both of these options will allow drivers to keep driving, they will minimize the chances of
receiving another DUI charge.
Getting Help
If you have been charged with a DUI in Georgia, you should hire a lawyer to fight by your side. DUI
cases are very serious offenses, especially in Georgia. For more information or general DUI help,

  • 2. The Plant Of A Pipeline Introduction Pigging is a critical activity in the commissioning and operation of a pipeline; oil, gas, water or otherwise. For flow assurance the pipeline needs to be cleared of debris and checked for defects, tasks pigs were designed for. The pig needs a method of entering and exiting the pipeline, so a mobile or fixed launcher and receiver are utilised depending on the exact requirements. Pig Launching and Receiving Basics A pig launcher and receiver, also known as a pig trap, are equipment designed to pump in the pig through the pipeline system and to retrieve the pig at the end of the operation. They can be mobile (pigging of construction section) or fixed in the pipeline system. The location of the launcher is located at the upstream end of the pipeline system, near the pump or compressor, while the receiver is at the end of the system. The launcher can be installed in a horizontal, vertical or inclined position. Most are installed horizontally to ease the operation and it is therefore the most preferable. However, due to space limits, vertical or incline pig traps are often considered. The launcher, receiver and all related equipment are designed, manufactured and tested according to the pipeline and vessel code standards e.g.; NACE, ASME VIII, BS 5500, ANSI, ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, etc. A pig trap is essential to get a potential result of product saving. It means that there is no requirement for adding an extensive line flushing as the pig cleaned out the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Schorske, have neglected Wagner s influence on Nietzsche in their works. In addition, Wagner was inspired by Schopenhauer, which is seen through Wagner s creativity. Wagner s Schopenhauer inspired view explores the depths of the unconscious mind, allowing us to view a world within ourselves. Wagner s inspired view greatly influenced Klimt s works. Klimt s works encapsulate a nationalistic view of Austria and its culture. Klimt s Nuda Veritas contains philosophical commentary on modern society, which is Schopenhauer inspired. • 4. Bullying Is The Job Of Parents And Schools Bullying is when you force someone to do something they do not want to, and it can cause stress or then leads to suicide in some cases. In Schoolyard Bullies by Stephanie Simon, prosecutor James Backstrom maintains school bullies should go to jail. However, I do not think bullies should go to jail, because there are different degrees of bullying. Some bullies are victims, and sending bullies to jail does not cure them. Stopping bullying is the job of parents and schools. Parents play a key role in preventing and responding to bullying. Parents should recognize the warning signs that the child is involved in bullying. Children could be being bullied, bullying others, or witnessing bullying. Although these signs could signal other issues, parents should talk to their children if they display any sort of behavioral or emotional changes. Many times children won t ask for help, so it is important to know what to look for. If the child is at immediate risk of harming himself or others, parents need to get help right away. Just sending the children who are bullies to go to jail, and doing jail time are not a good way to correct children s behaviors. I understand the rationale . . . , but incarceration is a fairly big stick, says Susan Limber, a bullying expert at Clemson University. You can get the same payoff with a lot less drastic measures (Simon 2). Moreover, if the children go to jail, they might not change their mind, even though their behavior will be ... Jay Gatsby s signet ring and cane are frequently displayed: indicative of Jay s stature. Luhrmanns use of cars and the obvious colour similarities in both movies is evident. The Historical And Evolutionary Process That Occurred Essay To fully understand the significance of our historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU s), we must examine the historical and evolutionary process that occurred in early education. Education during the colonial period included a strong emphasis on the bible. Leaders wanted students to be able to read and apply biblical principles. Education was primarily used for ministerial purposes. Another primary purpose of education during the countries early development was to serve as a means of distinguishing class among its citizens. Although most educational concepts were influenced by Eurocentric ideologies, as the colonies gained independence, other aims emerged including providing a common language, instilling patriotism, developing unity and a common purpose. Early leaders considered school as a way of protecting the new nation by establishing loyalty. You may recognize some of the practices are still in place like siting the pledge at the beginning of school. What is important to note is that education was provided for wealthy White males. Poor people, people of color, slaves and women were not included in the plans for an educated society. This paper will describe, the formation of the first Black Colleges, the current state of affairs, and conclude with the cultural significance of HBCU s. Segregation During the era of slavery in this nation, the education of slaves was frowned on and often forbidden. By denying Blacks an education, Whites believed they could ... • 8. The “rightness” of Native American boarding school Essay In the 1870s, the U.S. government enacted a policy of assimilation of Native Americans, to Americanize them. Their goal was to turn them into white men. Schools were an important part of facilitating their goal. In 1879, Richard Henry Pratt founded the Carlisle Indian School. It was the first school in which Native American children were culturally exposed to American ideology. The idea for the boarding school first came through treatment of Cheyenne warriors. In the 1860s, Americans were in the midst of a major western migration. Settlers were moving into the western region, pushing natives off lands, and in some cases, killing livestock. Warriors then took revenge on settlers and soldiers. General Sherman called for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pratt then turned his attention to native children. In 1879, the government consented to Pratt s request. He went to Dakota Territory to find students for his new Carlisle Indian School in Pennsylvania. Pratt determined the only way to change them was assimilation through total immersion. The school was established in an abandoned army post. The children wore military uniforms and cut their hair. In the first few years, the children suffered epidemics of cholera, influenza, and tuberculosis. As a result, they made a cemetery on the school. Lack of cultural diversity Ethnocentrism Social workers strive to keep the uniqueness of individuals and communities. The preservation of diversity honors the distinctiveness of individuals and communities. Boarding schools were genocidal to the cultural structure of Native Americans. They were forced to assimilate to the image of the white man: It disjointed family structure, dishonored their cultural differences and language. Children placed in these schools were deprived of learning their heritage. Pratt s goal of humanizing Native Americans is the basis of ethnocentrism. The way we communicate varies greatly among cultures throughout the world and has an extremely powerful impact within group and team environments. Effective communication enables us to engage in enriching social interaction with others, and allows for the creation of environments where group and team functioning can flourish. As simple as communication may seem, much of what we express to others has the tendency of getting misunderstood, therefore acquiring a skilled set of communication skills is crucial to the overall success of a team and group. Effective communication is more than simply sharing information. It is important to understand the true meaning and emotion behind the expressed information, and this can often become quite difficult when the subjectivity and complexity of nonverbal cues gets thrown into the mix. Throughout this paper, the meaning of communication and its application to group and team functioning will be explored, as well as the powerful impact it has in the health care setting. Effective communication amongst members of the health care team promotes teamwork and possessing an experienced and competent set of communication skills as a nurse is absolutely critical in providing safe, therapeutic and reliable care to patients. According to Social Darwinism, the human race evolves only through competition and only the fit survive while the weak cease to exist. Therefore Social Darwinism applied during the Gilded age meant that the wealthy represented the fit, whereas the poor represented the weak. Wealthy men like John D. However, American industries expanded rapidly; new technologies and innovations came about and took over the cities which increased production. Many of Americans and immigrants migrated to the cites to get jobs; but the working conditions during the time were very poor. Employees worked long hard hours in harsh environments and received little pay, which caused many people to live in poverty. This poverty issue formulated the theory of Social Darwinism. The Persian Invasion Of Greece Introduction Through the manuscripts of Herodotus, an ancient historian who hailed from the mountainous lands of Greece, modern day historians have been granted the ability to piece together the multitude of events that supposedly transpired during the years 480 and 479 BC between the Persian empire and the city states of the classical Greece (Herodotus). The second Persian invasion of Greece, which took place in the previously mentioned years, was a part of the many series of battles and encounters that made up the Greco Persian Wars. This invasion in particular, however, probably saw one of the most distinguished battles in ancient European warfare befall. As a whole, the second Persian invasion of Greece consisted of several battles that transpired within a close proximity of one another chronologically. The war itself was fairly short lived, even for its time, lasting only the course of approximately one year. The battles themselves took place in Thermopylae, Artemisium, Salamis, Platae, and Mycale (Setzer). The Persian invasion forces were led by King Xerxes I of Persia, the son of Darius I of Persia. Prior to the reign of Xerxes I, King Darius I had wanted to take control of ancient Greece. As such, he ordered two campaigns which made up the first Persian invasion of Greece. Much to his hindrance, however, Darius I breathed his last breath before he was presented with the opportunity to carry out a second invasion. King Xerxes I, who was the successor of Darius I, ... • 29. Hamlet And Ophelia In Shakespeare s Hamlet In the Shakespeare play hamlet, Hamlet tries to hide a lot of emotions. In the play hamlet and ophelia are said to be in love or that Ophelia loves hamlet. Although people believe they are in love, Hamlet does not really act like he does love her. In the play, Hamlet has an unknown relationship with ophelia that could be fake; But there could be some reasoning behind the relationship and why he would be using her. Throughout the play Hamlet does not treat Ophelia well and sometimes even insults her. He had said many times Get thee to a nunnery (III.I). He would often say this throughout this conversation as another way to make her feel bad. That he was trying to hurt but still look as if he loved her to others. Also later when Ophelia talks about what happened she said He took me by the wrist and held me hard (II.I). That in the conversation between hamlet and Ophelia when Hamlet was not verbally hurting her, he would sometimes get physical. Hamlet would often use this as a way to show how insane he was getting. Also when Ophelia was talking to Polonius she said And thrice his head thus waving up and down (II.I). This is another example of when Hamlet do things to make himself seem more insane. Also he is using Ophelia again as a way to spread about himself that he wants. So Hamlet would verbally and sometimes physically hurt her to get her to do what he wants. Hamlet had felt that he would have a better connection to the people around him if he was with Ophelia. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. The Theory Of Mind ( Tom ) Theory of mind (ToM) is the ability to differentiate one s own mental state from others and therefore, influence the behaviour accordingly. Mental states comprise of the individual s desires, beliefs and intentions. ToM is considered to be a milestone in psychosocial development as pre schoolers at the age of 4 or 5 tend to be able to recognise that not everyone perceive the same reality as they do (Wellman, Cross Watson, 2001). This is known as false belief and is an important skill in comprehending and predicting people s emotions and actions to construct a meaningful relationship. Moreover, a cochlear implant can improve a hearing impaired child s communication skills, which benefits social functioning, but still lag considerably behind in ToM compared to normally hearing peers. The outcomes of a delayed ToM do not occur in a particular order nor should they be considered as distinct features. Rather, the consequences are intertwined whereby one particular aspect can affect the other. For a deaf child, their natural language is signing (Mayer Leigh, 2010). Auslan or other variations of signing is instinctive to a deaf individual because it is the language that they can form coherent sentences and explicit semantics to engage in a discourse. Although language is predominately symbols rather than verbal or written compared to a deaf child s normally hearing peers, it still allows the child to apprehend mental states in their cognition and conceive others around. Therefore, studies have shown that these children can do just as well, or even better, on false belief tests than hearing children (Marschark Clark, 1998). In other words, despite being diagnosed as deaf or hard of hearing, native signers typically show no delayed ToM and the implication is higher control of behaviours, or executive functioning, and ...
