Igbo Research Paper
Igbo land holds many festivities and cultural performances, most notably are the masquerades. This
festival has a very special clothes, and calendar time. The Masquerades festival happens every year
and it is usually every November. In their anniversary, they have social gathering and burial rites.
During this festival are geared in colorful robes and different styles of masks that made either with
wood or with fabric. Masquerades are very connected with spiritual elements that relate it to Igbo
belief or dead relatives, which show the uniqueness of masquerade festival as one of the well kept
secret and preformed completely by men. As people would always take corrections from these
exposures, the masquerades were effective in keeping up with

Essay On Limbic Brain Vs Neocortex
In a paragraph, discuss at least two key ideas from this chapter that you found to be interesting or that
stood out to you in some way, and explain, with example and details, why you found them to be
interesting. It s interesting to me that the limbic brain is said to have no capacity for language . Seems
strange to me to think of any one part of the brain functioning independently of any of the other parts
of the brain. I was also interested in the statement about rational decisions taking longer to make, and
that they can be of lesser quality. My guess is that it depends on the individuals experience with
making types of decisions that they are familiar or unfamiliar with, as to the quality of the decision
that will be arrived at, regardless ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These can be about the chapter itself or a question that popped into your head as you were reading.
Anything you are wondering about is good. 1. If the limbic brain (which drives behavior) has no
capacity for language; what are the possibilities for creating more connections between the limbic
brain and the neocortex? 2. If it were possible to observe the functions of the limbic brain s behavior
from the perspective of the neocortex, would it be possible to integrate a more complex and inclusive
why motivated behavior, balanced into the grounding of reason and logic? And or vice versa. In what
way do you think Sinek s ideas apply to relationships? Is it important to consider why you enter a
relationship with someone, rather than simple attraction? What impact would it have on relationships
(not just romantic ones) if the people in the relationship had different WHYS? Relationships are
affected by collections of whys . There is each person, and their own particular whys that come from
their own personality in some way. Then there are the togetherness whys that come from the unity of
the relationship that seem to sort of merge or correspond with each person in a more fluid

Local Waste Pollution
to the LCRMS is from municipal, or local waste that towns produce (Landfill Facts). The LCRMS has
a very good relationship with the local community however (Hassenplug). One of the main issues that
affects how people live is odor pollution. Whenever there are complaints of odor problems, the landfill
addresses that problem immediately (Hassenplug). The problems associated with landfills don t
directly affect the people of the local area drastically, and people don t need to live differently because
of it. The LCRMS purposely has a buffer zone and is in a sedentary area, so they aren t close to
surrounding towns and counties. It s easy to pinpoint the cause of the problem in our local area.
According to the fact sheet 54% of waste is municipal, 22% of waste is residual, 10% of waste is from
sewage sludge, 11% from construction/demolition, and 2% of waste is from Ash Asbestos (Landfill
Facts). These are interesting numbers that show where the problem comes from directly in my local
area. These are all areas that solid waste comes from, and is brought to the landfill. According to
Danny, there are 40 50 companies that bring landfill to this area (Hassenplug). Again, 54% of waste
comes from cities and towns so that means a majority of the waste is produced by people in the
surrounding area of the landfill. Living in America, we re all very wasteful people simply because it s
America, and we can. Solid waste that is produced and sent to landfills is not a problem specific to

Economics At The University Of York
I am applying for a M.Sc. in Health Economics at the University of York in the U.K. This program of
study will provide an opportunity to compare efficient health systems in the US, UK and Australia
with the goal of identifying areas for improvement both from a cost as well as the health utilization
perspective.
Economic evaluation of health care delivery is a global necessity. The U.S spends 17% of its GDP
annually towards health care compared with 8 9% by Australia and the United Kingdom. In contrast,
when comparing government spending of cash and services for families with children, the U.S. spends
2.4% of its GDP per child under 15 years, compared to 11.8% in the U.K. and 8.9% in Australia. As a
result, families caring for injured ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dr. Laura Bojke is a leader in the economic evaluation of social care and public health interventions

foundation in econometrics to evaluate the economic aspects of pediatric concussion and its long term
impact on healthcare and resource utilization.
Traumatic Brain injury (TBI) is projected to be a significant cause of global disease burden by 2020;
with an estimated 10 million people affected by TBI annually worldwide. A concussion is the most

The Art Of War By Sun Tzu
Originally written in Chinese in 514 B.C., The Art of War by Sun Tzu outlines basic, yet crucial
principles and factors in military strategy that Sun Tzu claims would ensure victory in a war. There are
several English translations of Sun Tzu s work, each having a slightly different interpretation due to
the meticulous task of finding exact terms from Chinese to English, but some have been reviewed as
reliable in conveying the true message of Sun Tzu. This includes the importance of considering
economic, political, and geographical factors, objective comparisons of significant aspects between
both opposing sides, handling one s army and officers, and most importantly, the use of deception.

Napoleon s army was in a vulnerable position especially since the Austrian and Russian forces united
and considered to attack him in spring when Napoleon s army would have diminished from their
unpreparedness for winter. After realizing that his army would be at their weakest if he waited to fight
in spring, Napoleon decided to trick the Allies into thinking that they must attack him immediately. To
accomplish his goal in deceiving the Allies, Napoleon sent General Savary to their camp pretending to
seek a peace negotiation . This gave the Allies the illusion that Napoleon felt weak and desperate for a
truce. While the Russian commander in chief, General Kutsov, was confident that waiting to attack in
spring was the most advantageous strategy for them, the Tsar was fooled by Napoleon s ploy and over
ruled Kutsov s plan commanding Kutsov to commence their battle in the winter instead of spring. By
realizing the disadvantageous position he was in and how it would make it extremely difficult to win
against the Allies, Napoleon shifted his chances of victory to his favor through deception. The dire
situation that Napoleon and his army was in due to poor logistics and the upcoming harsh winter
would have caused many of his men to die of hunger and hypothermia. By the time spring

Herodotus Histories As A Principle Source About Ancient...
Herodotus Histories serves as a principle source about ancient Greece. However, within in it there is
an added complexity of Herodotus own attitudes towards archaic tyrants versus what the actual
attitudes of Archaic Greeks were. As for traditions, Archaic tyrants cannot be accurately confined to
singular traits or patterns of operations. Lineages of tyrants, the Kypselids and Pisistratids, do not have
an overarching flavor, the rulers vary. Additionally, singular rulers, such as Polycrates, have variations
in their description.
A key passage from Histories that best summarizes Herodotus attitudes towards tyranny is the
beginning of Sosicles speech to the Spartans, who are considering reimplementing tyranny in Athens.
This is like the turning of the universe upside down. Earth and sky will soon be changing places men
will be living in the sea and fish on land, now that you Spartans are proposing to abolish popular
government and restore despotism in the cities... . Sosicles believes tyranny is the most backward form
of government to consider, when compared to popular government . He presents tyranny as being so
unnatural, that implementing a tyrant would overturn the rest of natural order. Two hyperbolic
statements earth and sky will soon be changing places and men will be living in the sea and fish on
land , are examples of literal switching of places. They suggests that restoring despotism would be a
reversal to something unnatural and that things are as they

Eva s life seems to reach a standstill. Her life seems to be confined to a pickup truck, with wary
glances exchanged between Dylan and her. Her life seems to coincide with her shaky hands and
bouncing thighs. She hates it, although she seems to hate a lot of things now.
She is facing the worst kind of anticipation. Hoping to never hear the police sirens resonate within her
ears. Desperately attempting to shake the images of too much blood on the roof. The smell of metal is
so strong that it still haunts her, making her dry heave at the worst moments. She lives her life sitting

The Various Theories of Criminology
Criminology is defined as an interdisciplinary profession built around the scientific study of crime and
criminal behavior including their forms, causes, legal aspects, and control. There are many aspects in
the field of criminology. These aspects include the areas of research involved, the criminology schools
of thought, theoretical developments and the people involved in creating and developing the theories.
What role do criminologists play in the field of criminology? The term criminologist is used to
describe any individual who is employed in the criminal justice field regardless of formal training.
(Schmalleger) These individuals study crime, criminals, and criminal behavior. Those responsible for
collecting and examining physical evidence of crime are referred to as criminalists. Criminologists
perform a variety of activities such as data gathering, data analysis, theory construction, hypothesis
testing, social policy creation, public advocacy and public service, analysis of crime patterns and
trends, education and training, and threat assessment and risk analysis. Criminology is categorized
into three schools of thought: Classical, Positivist, and Chicago. These three schools fit into three
different theoretical developments in criminology. However, there are six categories that fit into the
theoretical developments. The first development is the Classical School which consists of classical
and neoclassical criminology. The classical school of criminological

Cuba And The United States
Introduction A lot has gone on between the United States and Cuba between 1959 and 2015. In 1959,
Cuba and the United States cut off diplomatic ties. On December 17, 2014, the United States and
Cuba announced that they would restore diplomatic ties. Diplomatic ties is defined as The art or
practice of conducting international relations, as in negotiating alliances, treaties, and agreements by
The Free Dictionary. This means that two countries work together and with other countries to talk
about alliances and make treaties and agreements. When they cut off diplomatic ties, the United States
and Cuba basically had nothing to do with each other on the international scene.
History of Cuba
Cuba was first discovered by Spanish explorers about 500 years ago. Cuba is the largest country of the
West Indies, which include Jamaica, Hispaniola, and Puerto Rico. Cuba has a population of over 11
million people. They have been shut off from the United States since 1959. They have not gotten any
new cars from the United States since then, so they keep the 1950s cars in use. Fidel Castro became
the Prime Minister of Cuba in 1959 after seizing Havana and overthrowing Fulgencio Batista.
Havana, La Habana in Spanish, is the largest city in Cuba, as well as the largest city in all of the
Caribbean, and the capital city of Cuba. Havana is also the only major city in Cuba. Havana has a
scenic waterfront and is surrounded by beaches.

The Market Crash of 2008
The stock market is what one would know as a collective group of buyers/sellers that trade stocks,
also known as shares on a stock exchange. These securities are listed on the exchange itself and trade
freely each and every day. On the exchange, stocks move hands day in and day out. Companies are
able to get their stock listed on the exchange at any time that they want. There are other stocks,
too...known as OTC stocks or over the counter stocks that go through a specific dealer. Larger
companies tend to have their stocks listed on exchanges all throughout the world. Participants in the
market can be anyone from your grandma, to retail investors, day traders, institutional investors, and
so forth. One notable exchange is the NYSE; also known as The New York Stock Exchange. Moving
forward, a stock market crash is when a decline of stock prices takes place throughout the stock
market that results in a catastrophic loss of wealth via paper. The crashes are driven strictly by panic 9
times out of 10 a crash takes place. As a crash is happening, panic occurs; the panic keeps evolving
and ends up like the snowball effect before you know it. A crash occurs when economic events take
place. These events are always bad news... The behavior of traders follows, which leads to a crash
when panic ensues. Crashes normally occur of a seven day period and may extend even further.
Crashes happen in bear markets as the market is already weak to begin with. Once traders see a drop
in prices,

Designing A 3d Modeling Software
Once you have a 3D model the next step is to prepare it in order to make it 3D printable. Preparing a
3D model to be 3D printed is called slicing. Slicing is dividing a 3D model into hundreds or thousands
of horizontal layers. This is done with software. It can sometimes be done within a 3D modeling
software application. Certain 3D printers require a certain slicing tool. Once the 3D modelTo begin 3D
printing you first have to make a virtual design of the object that you want to create. The virtual
design is a CAD (Computer Aided Design) file. A CAD file is created using a 3D modeling
application or with a 3D scanner. A 3D scanner is used to make a 3D digital copy of an object.
3D scanners: Microsoft and Google have recently created hardware that can perform 3D scanning. An
example of this is Microsoft s Kinect. Soon digitizing real objects into 3D models will become much
easier. Smartphones may even have integrated 3D scanners.
3D modeling software: 3D modeling software comes in many forms. There s industrial grade software
that costs thousands of dollars a year, or there s a free open source software, like Blender.
is sliced, it is ready to be sent to the 3D printer. This can be done via USB, SD, or wifi, depending on
the brand and type of 3D printer you have. When a file is uploaded in a 3D printer, the object is 3D
printed layer by layer. The 3D printer reads every slice and creates a three dimensional object.

The Absence of Women in Beowulf, The Wife s Lament, and the Battle of Maldon
It could be argued that women are indeed present in the minority in surviving Anglo Saxon poetry, and
that therefore, they are made conspicuous through their absence. The fact they may appear less
frequently in Old English Literature does not necessarily mean that women were any less significant
in society at this time, although this is the conclusion reached by some. It is assumed that women did,
in general, have less important and prominent social roles than men at the time, and the power that
they did possess tended to be dictated to them by males. This essay will discuss and examine the
social roles and position of the women who did appear in Old English ... Show more content on

This is true of
Beowulf, as although the story of Hildeburh is told, it is not from her point of view. At the centre is the
moving depiction of Hildeburh lamenting her loss as the funeral pyre consumes her brother and her
son. Another funeral pyre, that for Beowulf himself, affords the poet an opportunity to touch upon in
more universal terms but nevertheless powerfully, the theme of the war related sufferings of women;
an anonymous woman who: sang a sorrowful song about Beowulf, said again and again that she sorely
feared for herself invasions of armies, many slaughters, terror of troops, humiliation, and captivity .
The theme of the ritual mourner was a predominant one in Anglo Saxon times. This could be seen as a
show of power, the woman taking the lead in a situation that would allow her to do so, an environment
in which emotion takes priority over strength and courage. The men present at the funeral do try to
govern the funeral setting and take control of the situation through their creation of an immense
funeral fire. However, it is much easier for the woman to take over when the situation becomes
unfavourable to masculine characteristics.

downloaded a file it was coming directly from another person s computer. The website was
specifically designed to transfer MP3 files with a search engine dedicated to retrieving MP3 files only,

Film Techniques In The Film War Of The Worlds
How does the director Steven Spielberg, use film techniques to convey one or more themes in his film,
War of the Worlds?
Steven Spielberg utilizes many techniques, in his film, War of the Worlds, including camera work,
actors and sound effects to convey various themes such as family relationships. An initial scene, Eve
of the War , establishes the relationships amongst the family especially around the central character
Ray Ferrier (Tom Cruise) which are built upon in Coming of the Invaders . Worst of Man is a turning
point in the story where Ray s character is developed to reveal the love for his children. In The Fight

Worst of Man is essentially a turning point in the story where the audience witnesses Ray s love for
his children. Robbie wears his cap backwards. Spielberg uses this symbolism to show Robbie s youth
and rebellion against his father. The director uses sound effects to establish the danger at the war zone
where the military is attempting to fight off the alien. After Ray hands the car over to Robbie, he
wears his cap correctly because he is given adult like responsibilities. Not only that, but Ray trusts
Robbie which shows how the theme of family relationships develops. Later in the scene, Robbie hands
the car over to Ray as they approach a mob of people showing that he still relies on his him and this
demonstrates the change in their relationship. This also is supported because for the first time in the
film Robbie calls Ray dad . When the crowd is still attacking Robbie and his father, Ray gets attention
with his gun. He asks Where is my son? and when their car is almost lost, Ray wants the daughter not
the car . Both of these examples of dialogue in the scene and his actions shows how their relationship
is changing and to what extent he will go to save the lives of his children. In a later scene, The Fight
Begins , Spielberg uses sound effects and dialogue to show the trust and belief between Robbie and
Ray. Distant sounds of machine guns and bombs convey the

Existentialism And Its Impact On Society Essay
Jean Paul Sartre once said man is nothing else but what he makes of himself. The implications of this
statement and his entire school of thought had a profound effect on society as a whole. Søren
Kierkegaard is often thought to be the first proponent of existentialism but never used the term as a
self describer and was categorized as an existentialist posthumously. Sartre derived his inspiration
from Martin Heidegger and embraced the term, but he was hardly the only one to flirt with such
thinking. Many philosophers such as Friedrich Nietzsche, Simone de Beauvoir, Maurice Merleau
Ponty, Albert Camus and Fyodor Dostoyevsky were also influential existentialists. Although this
branch of philosophy theorizes over many facets of human existence, one of its most innovative
proposals was the true meaning of life. Scholar Frederick Copleston explains that Sartre believed that
what all existentialists have in common is the fundamental doctrine that existence precedes essence.
As a result, each individual is free of preconceived notions assigned to them by society and religion.
Everyone must be responsible for creating their own values and determining a meaning to their own
lives. Existence precedes essence is a central theme in existentialism. This notion makes every person
liable for their own actions instead of placing the blame on someone or something. As a result, every
individual has the freedom to do what he or she chooses but must always assume responsibility

Autonomy Against Spain
In Negotiating Spain and Catalonia: Competing Narratives of National Identity, author Fernando Leon
Solis examines the various motivational factors for Catalonia s push for autonomy within Spain. The
author makes a compelling case as to how and why Catalonia is attempting to gain autonomy. Solis
believes that the main motivation for Catalonian autonomy is the conflict over the definition of
Catalan identity, which, Catalans believe, can only fully be established under regional autonomy. Solis
argues that if the Catalan National political party, Convergencia I Unio, can come to an agreement
with the majority party in parliament, Partido Popular, then Catalonia may receive regional autonomy.

Solis relies on journals, such as those found in La Vanguardia, to examine the positions of different
political currents. However, Solis s main flaw in his argument is that he does not provide readers with
enough information on the Spanish government structure. When addressing the importance of the
2000 election, Solis mentions how the Partido Popular chose to form a coalition with Convergencia I
Unio, even though they did not have to form such a government in order to form a majority in
parliament. Without a working knowledge of how a coalition government works, why it is formed and
how it is beneficial, the average reader may not be able to fully grasp the importance of the 2000
election. However, this is only a minor weakness. Ultimately, Solis is highly successful in laying out a
convincing argument and demonstrating why Catalonian people, who have a strong attachment to
their cultural identity, wish to gain autonomy within

Conflict In The Hobbit
In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit (Tolkien, 7). With those great words we were introduced to
the greatest saga of high fantasy known to man. The Hobbit, by J. R. R. Tolkien, narrates the
adventure of the simple hobbit Bilbo Baggins who is recruited by Gandalf, a wizard, to help a group
of dwarves defeat the dragon Smaug and restore the Lonely Mountain to Thorin Oakenshield, the
leader of the dwarves and rightful heir to the kingdom. The territory in question, the Lonely Mountain,
was once the richest kingdom in Middle earth until a fire breathing dragon reeked havoc on the
mountain, killed most of the dwarves, and stole the dwarves treasure. Although defeating the dragon
may seem like the chief difficulty in their travel, the true conflict in The Hobbit is the struggle
between the dwarves and their inner greed. In order to reacquire the Lonely Mountain, the dwarves
must overcome their inherent lure towards richness. Dwarves came to be by Aüle the Smith, one of the

Unlike dwarves, dragons were greedy, cunning, seductive and malicious, probably a creation by
Morgoth out of fire and sorcery sometime in the First Age (Dragons). The looting of the Lonely
Mountain by Smaug was merely part of his nature. Unlike the dragons, the dwarves were naturally
kindhearted folk whose greed was not large and excessive. The dwarves came to Bag End with some
absurd hope that they would return to the Lonely Mountain with the help of the burglar Bilbo. As they
progressed through the forest and regions, their hopes only increased and the thought that the King
under the Mountain would be reestablished became more tangible; but with that their lust for richness
increased with the looting of the troll s hideout, and the killing of the goblin king. Smaug was indeed a
great obstacle, greater than the goblins or spiders, yet his slaying and the reestablishment of the King
under the Mountain was still building up to the war and Thorin s

Reflection On St. Joseph´s Prenatal And Women s Clinic
On January 27th, I visited the St. Joseph s Prenatal and Women s Clinic located on 21 Peace Street in
Providence, Rhode Island. This facility is meant to provide a wide range and accessible system of care
to underserved women of all ages regarding women s health. The facility accepts all forms of
insurance making it possible for women with insurance that has insufficient coverage to receive
quality care. Also, the clinic offers interpreter services for patients who speak other languages, which
ensures the women are receiving comprehensive care.

When working with the public the healthcare provider should ignore preconceived notions of a patient
and should learn the underlying factors, for example getting a better understanding if the patient is
educated on the topic or if the patient can afford a treatment. Many times, patients aren t resistant to
care it is because of an underlying factor that presents as a barrier. During this experience, I felt many
patients who came to at the clinic on this day had come into get treated for symptoms they had and
further preventive education should have been provided, so the patients wouldn t have repeat visits.
However, I felt the Doctor and Registered Nurse presented as caring, provided the patients with
education about their current situation, and gave them options. In the future, I d want to investigate
more into the patient s barriers, empower them, would take more time informing the patients about
resources and would work on my communication, as well as nonverbal communication skills. Many
things get lost in translation, so I d want to keep things simpler terms so the full message could get
relayed properly and so the patients receive competent and quality

The United Nations Targets For Ocean Sustainability
1. The United Nations targets for ocean sustainability are measurable when looking at 14.1, 14.2, 14.3,
14.4, 14.5 and 14.6. This is due to that fact that the United Nations is able to create a base level in
order to look at the major contributors to these issues this can be then simplified as these contributors
are the human population. For example, when look at target 14.3 which deals with the eminent of
fossil fuels, fossil fuels are cause by production run by humans. Allowing humans to have control over
how many fossil fuels they want to eminent on a daily basis. Another example of a target that can be
measurable is 14.4 as it deals with the issue of over fishing and the use of fish stocks. This target is
measurable as The United Nations is able to measure fish stocks and will be able to measure them ten
years from now to see if the laws put in place are positively affecting our worlds oceans. They will be
able to check the harvest growth pattern that the fish stocks provide in order to catch illegal,
unreported and unregulated fishing. There are however targets under The Unites Nations goal that are
not measurable this can be seen when looking at targets 14.7,14. a,14. b and 14.c. I believe that these
goals are unable to be measured due to that fact for example in 14.7 there is no quantification in
dollars or percentages as it is looking at economic benefits of developing states. When looking at the
other targets they are to general and have no specific goal (i.e. date)

The Kings Way of Goverment
Feudalism was based on the exchange of land for military service. It had levels of status similar to
modern society. In the Middle Ages, the Feudal System was a very important system to kings in order
for them to control entire countries.
The Feudal System was a vital system to William I who could not control all the land he had.
According to Chris Trueman, William had defeated the English army lead by Harold Godwine but
before he could be called King of England he had to gain control of all of England. The English
thought of William as a foreigner who had forced his way into London. Since people didn t like him
he had to use force to maintain his control on England. It was extremely difficult for William to rule

These manors were isolated, with occasional visits from peddlers, pilgrims on their way to the
Crusades, or soldiers from other fiefdoms. Family life was governed by the place one held in society.
The nobles had the highest stats and possessed the most wealth and land. The clergy could be rich or
poor, depending on their title and how much influence they had over the people. The serfs had the
lowest stats and possessed the least amount of wealth and land (Characteristics).
Life in the Middle Ages was hard, especially for serfs, and few people could read or write. During the
years of the Roman Empire, the soldiers of the emperor protected the poor people. Then when the
empire fell, there were no laws protecting them, so they turned to the lords to keep the peace and to
act on their behalf. This willingness of the poor people to be ruled by the lords led to the beginning of
Feudalism. Some peasants, poor people, were free, but most became serfs, slaves, to the lord. Serfs
generally lived in communities that were ruled by the local nobles. They could not marry or even
leave the manor without the lord s permission. Serfs did all the work on the manor farm and all serfs
worked: men, women, and children. They worked in the fields, cared for animals, built and cared for
buildings, made clothing, and everything else that required manual labor. There were also servants
who worked in the manor doing the cooking, cleaning, laundering, and other household jobs. Serfs

The Use Of Silicone Products For Breast Implants
Background
Biomaterials, whether from natural or synthetic origin, have been used for many biomedical
applications ranging from surgery to drug delivery (1). Of particular interest is the use of silicone
products for breast implants, which are medical prostheses serving to augment or reconstruct breasts
(1). To date, silicone is one of the most commonly used materials for plastic surgery procedures in
North America (1, 2). The first silicone breast implants were developed in 1961 and were available for
use by 1962. At that time, there was limited awareness on the safety and efficacy of silicone in breast
implants, but this view changed when attention was drawn to repeated reports involving adverse
reactions after implantation (1, 3 5). This led to a moratorium on silicone breast implants in 1992 by
the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) (5). After extensive research, the majority of results
concluded that there were no major harmful effects associated with silicone products. In 2006, FDA
approved the use of silicone products in breast implants, which currently leaves silicone as the only
available material for this purpose (3, 5, 6). Since that time, there has been controversy around the
nature and associated complications related to silicone products in breast implants (1, 2, 5). This is
reflected by the current body of literature, and seems to result from a lack of consistency in the
methodologies used to determine the mechanisms underlying silicone transport, uptake,

My Evidence In My Writing
Throughout quarter 1, I believe that my ability to find and apply evidence to my writings has
improved over the quarter. Although this skill is still a work in progress for me, I have noticed
tremendous growth in my own confidence through it. My credibility of my evidence has improved
through class discussions.
After the disobedience writing, i saw that i performed well on that specific writing. For me this
specific writing was not challenging because I knew historical events that i could use for my evidence.
By having that background knowledge, it made it less challenging to write for that prompt. I did well
because i referenced historical events for my evidence. This created credibility in my writing because
it was a use of historical facts that were connected to the prompt. We learned evidences to use in
argumentative writing: literature, historical events, and personal anecdotes. Some historical events i
used were MLK Jr, Gandhi, and Harriet Tubman. I stated that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had an idea

different types of argumentative writing in class, i was able to comprehend and apply more credible
sources to my writings to create a stronger argument.
Overall in quarter 1, my skills have grown in my credibility of evidence. I learned from my mistakes
and was able to fully understand how to create a better argumentative writing. The skill is still not
perfect for me and still needs lots of improvement, but it has grown throughout the quarter and really

Another factor that influence micelle formation is , the salt concentration and pH. The membrane
phospholipids are disrupted by mild nonionic detergents to isolate them but the isolated lipids should

TLC is used this experiment is discontinuous method to analyze phospholipase reaction.
Spectrophotometry can be used to monitor enzymatic reaction activity continuously without

Studio Shaft Essay
What made Shaft different? What really sets studio Shaft apart from others is its director Akiyuki

imaginative style to all of his, and subsequently Shaft s work. The big things Shinbo does different
then other studios is first off what he chooses to create. While the studio realizes heavily on original
anime which boosted success as discussed below in advertising, the works they adapt into anime are
carefully chosen. They are not always popular by themselves, and are not aimed at very broad
audiences. In fact they are all aimed at very niche audiences, such as Bakemonogatari which was
aimed towards to teenage boys. This creates a basis for a dedicated audience, willing to purchase
merchandise of the anime. Shaft also with Shinbo s unique art style is incredibly recognizable. Every
show they produce follow a set style of how the backgrounds are focused on more than most anime, or
the way in which characters move that isn t always humanoid.

Historical Development of Law Enforcement Essays
Since 27 B.C. law enforcement has been used by humans as a means to defend property and keep
peace. Law enforcement has been changing ever since it was created. It will keep changing for the
greater good of the community as long is there is a continual need for law enforcement.
According to REAL POLICE. (N.D.) Para 5, the first organized police force was created by the great
nephew of Julius Caesar, Gaius Octavius in 27 B.C. These men were called Vigiles. The Vigiles were
armed with wooden clubs and small swords. They were formed to perform two duties, fight fires in
the city and arrest law breakers. The prefect of the Vigiles became a powerful man. He had the ability
to judge and sentence lawbreakers.

New York used bells to communicate with other officers out of voice range. There were ten different
bell codes used by the New York police. Also, New York replaced drafted citizens with paid watch

Research by Schmalleger (2005) shows that in 1829, the world s first modern police force was
formed. Sir Robert Peel selected 1,000 men to wear a uniform and patrol the streets. These uniformed
men were called Bobbies. The new police were founded on two principles, one, belief that it was
possible to discourage crime, and two, practice of preventive patrol. To this day, Bobbies still patrol
the streets of England.
Law enforcement was almost non existent in the American West during the late 1800 s and early 1900
s. Outlaws ruled the land with few worries about law enforcement. Only the bravest men would
attempt to police the west. Some of these brave men were self appointed law men, men like Charles
Lynch, a former Virginia farmer, and Wyatt Earp. These brave men were called Vigilantes and they
tracked down criminals in the west. With out them the west would have been to violent for the
expansion of the country. Schmalleger (2005).

Descartes Epistemology
Epistemology

full.
Descartes Epistemology
This essay attempts to explain Descartes epistemology of his knowledge, his Cogito, Ergo Sum
concept (found in the Meditations), and why he used it [the cogito concept] as a foundation when
building his structure of knowledge. After explaining the concept I give a brief evaluation of his
success in introducing and using this cogito as a foundation. Finally, I provide reasons why I think
Descartes succeeded in his epistemology.

The argument, as Descartes presented, does not give a valid reason for the existence of the body or
anything else in the physical world, so we cannot accept that bodies exist. Neither does the cogito
account for the existence of other minds as that would entail knowledge of the physical world where
other things exist. The cogito concept does however; give a valid argument for the existence of the
mind or a thinking thing that exists independently of the body. In his novel Think, Blackburn explains
the cogito concept as a means of justifying the core of one s existence as thinking, we accept that
thought exists not a self (Blackburn, 2001:20). I agree with Blackburn because his [Descartes ]
concept serves well to prove that we exist as thinking things and even if we were to discard any a
priori or a posteriori knowledge, we can still endorse the cogito. The cogito concept stands regardless
of empirical knowledge because it suggests the existence of thought without actually linking it to the
body (which constitutes a sort of empirical way of acquiring knowledge through the senses). In
addition, it can be accepted without any a priori knowledge since Descartes only introduced it after
concluding that he knew nothing, and could only accept knowledge of his own existence as
vindicated.
To assess Descartes choice of foundation I will raise some questions that implore an explanation

The Tragebility Of Othello In Act 1 Scene III
Othello s nobility is undisputable within the first few acts. In Act 1 Scene I Shakespeare characterizes
Othello indirectly through others opinions; Iago refers to Othello as an old black ram , a Barbary horse
and a devil , Roderigo similarly uses debasing imagery and language to describe Othello: thicklips .
The only information the audience has about Othello at this time is the vulgar description of a barbaric
outsider from Roderigo and Iago; this is in sharp contrast to the noble character we meet just one
scene later. Othello in Act 1 Scene II is noble, calm and both confident and humble. When he learns
that Desdemona s father, Brabantio, is coming for revenge his response is calm and confident:
Let him do his spite;
My services, which I have done the signiory,
Shall out tongue his complaints .
Iago urges Othello to leave as Brabantio approaches them; Othello refuses and stands his ground,
highlighting his confidence and his nobility:
Not I, I must be found. My parts, my title and my perfect soul
Shall manifest me rightly
When violence is brewing between the characters in Act 1 Scene II Othello becomes the peacemaker
and shows his calm, rational side, appealing to Brabantio to cease the violence.
Keep up your bright swords, for the dew will rust them.

He makes rash decisions which he regrets afterwards when he does stop to think about it. He
dismisses Cassio after a drunken brawl without hearing the full story; only what Iago had to say about
it. This leads onto his next flaw, his preoccupation with reputation and his excessive pride; when he
makes a mistake, he is too proud to make amends. In my opinion I feel that his hamartia is neither
pride nor hot headedness; it is his insecurity. His insecurity is the key to Iago s manipulation of him
and ultimately results in the death of Desdemona, Emilia and Othello

Guidelines And Suggestions For A Recommendation
Introduction
Having a well known and standard process to create a policy or procedure is crucial in an
organization. The lack of one could lead to confusion and hindrance in the implementation of a
potentially necessary process. In many organizations, however, there is room for improvement.
Recommendations and suggestions should be encouraged, as they can aid in the success of these
plans. It is not enough, though, to simply suggest improvements. Action must be taken on the
suggestions, or they will likely remain unchanged. Succeeding this, once a recommendation has been
implemented, and organization must implement some way of measuring the status of it. This paper
focuses on the metrics Organization A uses to measure the success of a recommendation. All opinions
expressed in this paper are that of the author unless otherwise specified. The policy development
process in Organization A is contingent upon what department a policy affects. For example, if the
Accounting department needs to develop a process that handles, for example, sending a report to a
supervisor, then the procedure simply must be worked out within the department. In this example, the
policy may not be written down; it may just be understood and common practice. However, if the
Accounting department found the need to implement a policy that specified how all employees must
handle expense reports, then this must be decided by the core business unit (BU) leaders.

Progesterone
Progesterone is a steroid hormone that belongs to a group of sex hormones called progestogen. It is
secreted primarily by the placenta (during pregnancy), the corpus luteum and adrenal glands. The
corpus luteum is a temporary endocrine gland that is produced in a female body after ovulation and is
involved in the early stages of pregnancy. If the eggs are not fertilised, the corpus luteum reverts to a
corpus albicans and menstruation takes place. If the egg is fertilized, then progesterone is secreted by
the placenta.
Progesterone has the chemical formula of C21H30O2. Progesterone is composed of three 6 carbon
rings and one 5 carbon ring fused together, satisfying the the structure of a steroid. It contains two
ketone groups as well as an alkene group and is a hydrophobic molecule. Progesterone s main function
is to prepare the lining of the uterus to accept a fertilized egg and allow for further development into a
fetus. During pregnancy, progesterone allows for the development of the milk producing glands in the
breasts. Progesterone is also a neurosteroid that allows for normal brain function. It protects the brain

are specific to progesterone. The RNA that was formed is transformed into new protein. This entire
process changes the metabolic character of the cell allowing for the cell to carry out tasks specific to

Persuasive Essay About Friendship
Trying to find a good friend is like finding a four leaf clover; it s hard to find, but lucky to have. The
term friendship is a unique bond between two individuals whether it s a charming boy and a geeky
girl, an elder woman and a young adult, or even between a cat and a dog. Friendship takes no form,
instead it is the individual trust toward others. Dating back to the creation of the human species,
people were familiar with the idea of companionship, in addition of being a companion, it relies on a
sense of comfort and protection. Presently, people still share that bond of comfort and protection
toward others, but the term companionship has changed into what is now known today as friendship.
The world is currently evolving into a digital era, a generation where everyone and everything are
connected by the power of computers, including meeting new people across the world where it s
impossible to meet in person. However, even though it s easily accessible to make friends online, it
can never favor those who live locally. The reason why is because in the digital world, people are
highly deceptive and are limited in communication while in comparison to those who lives locally.
However, it isn t wrong to make friends online, even though, some of them are misleading. It s more
suitable to have friends locally as they have better communication efficiency, living proof of actual
identity, and as well of physically spending quality time together.

The Masquerades festival happens every year and it is usually every November. In their anniversary, they have social gathering and burial rites. • 3. Essay On Limbic Brain Vs Neocortex In a paragraph, discuss at least two key ideas from this chapter that you found to be interesting or that stood out to you in some way, and explain, with example and details, why you found them to be interesting. It s interesting to me that the limbic brain is said to have no capacity for language . Seems strange to me to think of any one part of the brain functioning independently of any of the other parts of the brain. I was also interested in the statement about rational decisions taking longer to make, and that they can be of lesser quality. My guess is that it depends on the individuals experience with making types of decisions that they are familiar or unfamiliar with, as to the quality of the decision that will be arrived at, regardless ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These can be about the chapter itself or a question that popped into your head as you were reading. Anything you are wondering about is good. 1. If the limbic brain (which drives behavior) has no capacity for language; what are the possibilities for creating more connections between the limbic brain and the neocortex? 2. If it were possible to observe the functions of the limbic brain s behavior from the perspective of the neocortex, would it be possible to integrate a more complex and inclusive why motivated behavior, balanced into the grounding of reason and logic? And or vice versa. In what way do you think Sinek s ideas apply to relationships? Is it important to consider why you enter a relationship with someone, rather than simple attraction? What impact would it have on relationships (not just romantic ones) if the people in the relationship had different WHYS? Relationships are affected by collections of whys . There is each person, and their own particular whys that come from their own personality in some way. Then there are the togetherness whys that come from the unity of the relationship that seem to sort of merge or correspond with each person in a more fluid ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Local Waste Pollution to the LCRMS is from municipal, or local waste that towns produce (Landfill Facts). The LCRMS has a very good relationship with the local community however (Hassenplug). One of the main issues that affects how people live is odor pollution. Whenever there are complaints of odor problems, the landfill addresses that problem immediately (Hassenplug). The problems associated with landfills don t directly affect the people of the local area drastically, and people don t need to live differently because of it. The LCRMS purposely has a buffer zone and is in a sedentary area, so they aren t close to surrounding towns and counties. It s easy to pinpoint the cause of the problem in our local area. According to the fact sheet 54% of waste is municipal, 22% of waste is residual, 10% of waste is from sewage sludge, 11% from construction/demolition, and 2% of waste is from Ash Asbestos (Landfill Facts). These are interesting numbers that show where the problem comes from directly in my local area. These are all areas that solid waste comes from, and is brought to the landfill. According to Danny, there are 40 50 companies that bring landfill to this area (Hassenplug). Again, 54% of waste comes from cities and towns so that means a majority of the waste is produced by people in the surrounding area of the landfill. Living in America, we re all very wasteful people simply because it s America, and we can. Solid waste that is produced and sent to landfills is not a problem specific to ... Economics At The University Of York I am applying for a M.Sc. in Health Economics at the University of York in the U.K. This program of study will provide an opportunity to compare efficient health systems in the US, UK and Australia with the goal of identifying areas for improvement both from a cost as well as the health utilization perspective. Economic evaluation of health care delivery is a global necessity. The U.S spends 17% of its GDP annually towards health care compared with 8 9% by Australia and the United Kingdom. In contrast, when comparing government spending of cash and services for families with children, the U.S. spends 2.4% of its GDP per child under 15 years, compared to 11.8% in the U.K. and 8.9% in Australia. As a result, families caring for injured ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 6. The Art Of War By Sun Tzu Originally written in Chinese in 514 B.C., The Art of War by Sun Tzu outlines basic, yet crucial principles and factors in military strategy that Sun Tzu claims would ensure victory in a war. There are several English translations of Sun Tzu s work, each having a slightly different interpretation due to the meticulous task of finding exact terms from Chinese to English, but some have been reviewed as reliable in conveying the true message of Sun Tzu. This includes the importance of considering economic, political, and geographical factors, objective comparisons of significant aspects between both opposing sides, handling one s army and officers, and most importantly, the use of deception. Napoleon studied the campaigns of many famous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Napoleon s army was in a vulnerable position especially since the Austrian and Russian forces united and considered to attack him in spring when Napoleon s army would have diminished from their unpreparedness for winter. After realizing that his army would be at their weakest if he waited to fight in spring, Napoleon decided to trick the Allies into thinking that they must attack him immediately. To accomplish his goal in deceiving the Allies, Napoleon sent General Savary to their camp pretending to seek a peace negotiation . This gave the Allies the illusion that Napoleon felt weak and desperate for a truce. While the Russian commander in chief, General Kutsov, was confident that waiting to attack in spring was the most advantageous strategy for them, the Tsar was fooled by Napoleon s ploy and over ruled Kutsov s plan commanding Kutsov to commence their battle in the winter instead of spring. By realizing the disadvantageous position he was in and how it would make it extremely difficult to win against the Allies, Napoleon shifted his chances of victory to his favor through deception. The dire situation that Napoleon and his army was in due to poor logistics and the upcoming harsh winter would have caused many of his men to die of hunger and hypothermia. By the time spring ... • 7. Herodotus Histories As A Principle Source About Ancient... Herodotus Histories serves as a principle source about ancient Greece. However, within in it there is an added complexity of Herodotus own attitudes towards archaic tyrants versus what the actual attitudes of Archaic Greeks were. As for traditions, Archaic tyrants cannot be accurately confined to singular traits or patterns of operations. Lineages of tyrants, the Kypselids and Pisistratids, do not have an overarching flavor, the rulers vary. Additionally, singular rulers, such as Polycrates, have variations in their description. A key passage from Histories that best summarizes Herodotus attitudes towards tyranny is the beginning of Sosicles speech to the Spartans, who are considering reimplementing tyranny in Athens. This is like the turning of the universe upside down. Earth and sky will soon be changing places men will be living in the sea and fish on land, now that you Spartans are proposing to abolish popular government and restore despotism in the cities... . Sosicles believes tyranny is the most backward form of government to consider, when compared to popular government . He presents tyranny as being so unnatural, that implementing a tyrant would overturn the rest of natural order. Two hyperbolic statements earth and sky will soon be changing places and men will be living in the sea and fish on land , are examples of literal switching of places. They suggests that restoring despotism would be a reversal to something unnatural and that things are as they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hoping to never hear the police sirens resonate within her ears. Desperately attempting to shake the images of too much blood on the roof. The smell of metal is so strong that it still haunts her, making her dry heave at the worst moments. On December 17, 2014, the United States and Cuba announced that they would restore diplomatic ties. Diplomatic ties is defined as The art or practice of conducting international relations, as in negotiating alliances, treaties, and agreements by The Free Dictionary. This means that two countries work together and with other countries to talk about alliances and make treaties and agreements. When they cut off diplomatic ties, the United States and Cuba basically had nothing to do with each other on the international scene. History of Cuba Cuba was first discovered by Spanish explorers about 500 years ago. Cuba is the largest country of the West Indies, which include Jamaica, Hispaniola, and Puerto Rico. Cuba has a population of over 11 million people. They have been shut off from the United States since 1959. They have not gotten any new cars from the United States since then, so they keep the 1950s cars in use. Fidel Castro became the Prime Minister of Cuba in 1959 after seizing Havana and overthrowing Fulgencio Batista. Havana, La Habana in Spanish, is the largest city in Cuba, as well as the largest city in all of the Caribbean, and the capital city of Cuba. Havana is also the only major city in Cuba. These securities are listed on the exchange itself and trade freely each and every day. On the exchange, stocks move hands day in and day out. Companies are able to get their stock listed on the exchange at any time that they want. There are other stocks, too...known as OTC stocks or over the counter stocks that go through a specific dealer. Larger companies tend to have their stocks listed on exchanges all throughout the world. Participants in the market can be anyone from your grandma, to retail investors, day traders, institutional investors, and so forth. One notable exchange is the NYSE; also known as The New York Stock Exchange. Moving forward, a stock market crash is when a decline of stock prices takes place throughout the stock market that results in a catastrophic loss of wealth via paper. The crashes are driven strictly by panic 9 times out of 10 a crash takes place. A Mexican male avid student was walking his usual two mile route back home. Less than a quarter mile from his house he was pummeled on the back of the head, thrown into a near driveway then, repeatedly hit so hard that the sound attracted the owner of the driveway who then called the authorities. A day later, the father of the student wanted retaliation, he found the criminal then chased him for a few miles while carrying a metal bar. The Absence of Women in Beowulf, The Wife s Lament, and the Battle of Maldon It could be argued that women are indeed present in the minority in surviving Anglo Saxon poetry, and that therefore, they are made conspicuous through their absence. The fact they may appear less frequently in Old English Literature does not necessarily mean that women were any less significant in society at this time, although this is the conclusion reached by some. It is assumed that women did, in general, have less important and prominent social roles than men at the time, and the power that they did possess tended to be dictated to them by males. This is true of Beowulf, as although the story of Hildeburh is told, it is not from her point of view. At the centre is the moving depiction of Hildeburh lamenting her loss as the funeral pyre consumes her brother and her son. Another funeral pyre, that for Beowulf himself, affords the poet an opportunity to touch upon in more universal terms but nevertheless powerfully, the theme of the war related sufferings of women; an anonymous woman who: sang a sorrowful song about Beowulf, said again and again that she sorely feared for herself invasions of armies, many slaughters, terror of troops, humiliation, and captivity . The theme of the ritual mourner was a predominant one in Anglo Saxon times. This could be seen as a show of power, the woman taking the lead in a situation that would allow her to do so, an environment in which emotion takes priority over strength and courage. The men present at the funeral do try to govern the funeral setting and take control of the situation through their creation of an immense funeral fire. However, it is much easier for the woman to take over when the situation becomes unfavourable to masculine characteristics. • 19. The Music Industry Became Aware Of Napster After John... In June of 1999 Shawn Fanning, John Fanning, and Sean Parker created an independent peer to peer file sharing website called Napster, Named after John Fanning s high school nickname. A peer to peer (P2P) service allows access to media files like movies, music, books and games by using a certain program that connects to other computers on the same network, meaning that when someone downloaded a file it was coming directly from another person s computer. The website was specifically designed to transfer MP3 files with a search engine dedicated to retrieving MP3 files only, and a chat service which allowed users to communicate with each other while using this system (Tyson). At its prime, Napster was home to about 80 million users (Gowan). The issue with Napster was that it wasn t properly licensed to distribute the files and it allowed its users unlimited free access to other individual s intellectual property without their consent. The music industry became aware of Napster when the heavy metal band, Metallica discovered that an unreleased version of one of their songs was circling the internet. Metallica sued Napster, providing evidence that over 300 thousand people had exchanged their work without the approval of the band or the record label, and that Napster contributed to their infringements (Vaver). Steven Spielberg utilizes many techniques, in his film, War of the Worlds, including camera work, actors and sound effects to convey various themes such as family relationships. Worst of Man is essentially a turning point in the story where the audience witnesses Ray s love for his children. Robbie wears his cap backwards. Spielberg uses this symbolism to show Robbie s youth and rebellion against his father. The director uses sound effects to establish the danger at the war zone where the military is attempting to fight off the alien. After Ray hands the car over to Robbie, he wears his cap correctly because he is given adult like responsibilities. Not only that, but Ray trusts Robbie which shows how the theme of family relationships develops. Later in the scene, Robbie hands the car over to Ray as they approach a mob of people showing that he still relies on his him and this demonstrates the change in their relationship. This also is supported because for the first time in the film Robbie calls Ray dad . When the crowd is still attacking Robbie and his father, Ray gets attention with his gun. He asks Where is my son? and when their car is almost lost, Ray wants the daughter not the car . Both of these examples of dialogue in the scene and his actions shows how their relationship is changing and to what extent he will go to save the lives of his children. • 21. Existentialism And Its Impact On Society Essay Jean Paul Sartre once said man is nothing else but what he makes of himself. The implications of this statement and his entire school of thought had a profound effect on society as a whole. Søren Kierkegaard is often thought to be the first proponent of existentialism but never used the term as a self describer and was categorized as an existentialist posthumously. Sartre derived his inspiration from Martin Heidegger and embraced the term, but he was hardly the only one to flirt with such thinking. Many philosophers such as Friedrich Nietzsche, Simone de Beauvoir, Maurice Merleau Ponty, Albert Camus and Fyodor Dostoyevsky were also influential existentialists. Although this branch of philosophy theorizes over many facets of human existence, one of its most innovative proposals was the true meaning of life. Scholar Frederick Copleston explains that Sartre believed that what all existentialists have in common is the fundamental doctrine that existence precedes essence. As a result, each individual is free of preconceived notions assigned to them by society and religion. Everyone must be responsible for creating their own values and determining a meaning to their own lives. Existence precedes essence is a central theme in existentialism. This notion makes every person liable for their own actions instead of placing the blame on someone or something. As a result, every individual has the freedom to do what he or she chooses but must always assume responsibility instead ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Autonomy Against Spain In Negotiating Spain and Catalonia: Competing Narratives of National Identity, author Fernando Leon Solis examines the various motivational factors for Catalonia s push for autonomy within Spain. The author makes a compelling case as to how and why Catalonia is attempting to gain autonomy. Solis believes that the main motivation for Catalonian autonomy is the conflict over the definition of Catalan identity, which, Catalans believe, can only fully be established under regional autonomy. Solis argues that if the Catalan National political party, Convergencia I Unio, can come to an agreement with the majority party in parliament, Partido Popular, then Catalonia may receive regional autonomy. This is due to that fact that the United Nations is able to create a base level in order to look at the major contributors to these issues this can be then simplified as these contributors are the human population. For example, when look at target 14.3 which deals with the eminent of fossil fuels, fossil fuels are cause by production run by humans. The Use Of Silicone Products For Breast Implants Background Biomaterials, whether from natural or synthetic origin, have been used for many biomedical applications ranging from surgery to drug delivery (1). Of particular interest is the use of silicone products for breast implants, which are medical prostheses serving to augment or reconstruct breasts (1). To date, silicone is one of the most commonly used materials for plastic surgery procedures in North America (1, 2). The first silicone breast implants were developed in 1961 and were available for use by 1962. At that time, there was limited awareness on the safety and efficacy of silicone in breast implants, but this view changed when attention was drawn to repeated reports involving adverse reactions after implantation (1, 3 5). This led to a moratorium on silicone breast implants in 1992 by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) (5). After extensive research, the majority of results concluded that there were no major harmful effects associated with silicone products. In 2006, FDA approved the use of silicone products in breast implants, which currently leaves silicone as the only available material for this purpose (3, 5, 6). Since that time, there has been controversy around the nature and associated complications related to silicone products in breast implants (1, 2, 5). The argument, as Descartes presented, does not give a valid reason for the existence of the body or anything else in the physical world, so we cannot accept that bodies exist. The cogito concept does however; give a valid argument for the existence of the mind or a thinking thing that exists independently of the body. In his novel Think, Blackburn explains the cogito concept as a means of justifying the core of one s existence as thinking, we accept that thought exists not a self (Blackburn, 2001:20). I agree with Blackburn because his [Descartes ] concept serves well to prove that we exist as thinking things and even if we were to discard any a priori or a posteriori knowledge, we can still endorse the cogito. The cogito concept stands regardless of empirical knowledge because it suggests the existence of thought without actually linking it to the body (which constitutes a sort of empirical way of acquiring knowledge through the senses). The lack of one could lead to confusion and hindrance in the implementation of a potentially necessary process. In many organizations, however, there is room for improvement. Recommendations and suggestions should be encouraged, as they can aid in the success of these plans. It is not enough, though, to simply suggest improvements. Action must be taken on the suggestions, or they will likely remain unchanged. Succeeding this, once a recommendation has been implemented, and organization must implement some way of measuring the status of it. This paper focuses on the metrics Organization A uses to measure the success of a recommendation. All opinions expressed in this paper are that of the author unless otherwise specified. The policy development process in Organization A is contingent upon what department a policy affects. For example, if the Accounting department needs to develop a process that handles, for example, sending a report to a supervisor, then the procedure simply must be worked out within the department. In this example, the policy may not be written down; it may just be understood and common practice. • 36. Progesterone Progesterone is a steroid hormone that belongs to a group of sex hormones called progestogen. It is secreted primarily by the placenta (during pregnancy), the corpus luteum and adrenal glands. The corpus luteum is a temporary endocrine gland that is produced in a female body after ovulation and is involved in the early stages of pregnancy. If the eggs are not fertilised, the corpus luteum reverts to a corpus albicans and menstruation takes place. If the egg is fertilized, then progesterone is secreted by the placenta. Progesterone has the chemical formula of C21H30O2. Progesterone is composed of three 6 carbon rings and one 5 carbon ring fused together, satisfying the the structure of a steroid. It contains two ketone groups as well as an alkene group and is a hydrophobic molecule. Progesterone s main function is to prepare the lining of the uterus to accept a fertilized egg and allow for further development into a fetus. The progesterone and the progesterone receptor form a covalent bond creating a single unit called a dimer. The dimer then enters the nucleus and binds to the DNA which stimulates the writing of genes and creates RNA that are specific to progesterone. The RNA that was formed is transformed into new protein. This entire process changes the metabolic character of the cell allowing for the cell to carry out tasks specific to the progesterone ... The term friendship is a unique bond between two individuals whether it s a charming boy and a geeky girl, an elder woman and a young adult, or even between a cat and a dog. Friendship takes no form, instead it is the individual trust toward others. Dating back to the creation of the human species, people were familiar with the idea of companionship, in addition of being a companion, it relies on a sense of comfort and protection. Presently, people still share that bond of comfort and protection toward others, but the term companionship has changed into what is now known today as friendship. The world is currently evolving into a digital era, a generation where everyone and everything are connected by the power of computers, including meeting new people across the world where it s impossible to meet in person. However, even though it s easily accessible to make friends online, it can never favor those who live locally. The reason why is because in the digital world, people are highly deceptive and are limited in communication while in comparison to those who lives locally. However, it isn t wrong to make friends online, even though, some of them are misleading. It s more suitable to have friends locally as they have better communication efficiency, living proof of actual identity, and as well of physically spending quality time together. Friends who live locally often have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
