Tempcolonizing Mars

Writing Project
Day 0: Background and Mission Start It is February here on Earth. The year is 2071. Humans have
long abandoned the idea of completely colonizing Mars. Instead, they have decided to build outposts
in space much like the European explorers in the 16th century, on route to China for trade to protect
the motherland s trade route from enemies and refuel ships. About 10 years ago, scientists began
building an outpost on Mars a few miles from Gale Crater. Robots are maintaining the facility, but
their hands are not quite suited for wiring the base. Thus, NASA deemed it necessary to send humans
to Mars to get the base running for future missions on an improved version of NASA s Orion
spacecraft. The Orion spacecraft ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Stepping Into Something New
Last week I told my boss once my 12 week session was complete I would be taking a break, and I
would only be available to sub. While this seems weird to cut off my income. The income was small,
and the energy that it took was very demanding.
After the conversation was over, I felt relieved and open to new opportunities, which are now
appearing.
While I loved my job, I was feeling restricted in what I can teach people as far as nutrition, mindset
and faith. I was also feeling the need to earn more money for myself, my family and the ministries I
believe in.

Late Fragment By Raymond Carver Analysis
Poetry; a gift from the gods of literature, blessing all those that read it with intellect and awareness of
very important issues or even a fun piece of writing to indulge in. Throughout history, many
influential writers have made an impact on society with their writing. Raymond Carver, an award
winning writer, wrote many poems and stories throughout his career that shaped writing for many
other poets. Carver was born into a family of poverty and from a young age, he did not have an ideal
relationship with his parents due to the strong use of alcohol by his father. Later on in his life, Carver
became an alcoholic and tried to distance himself from everyone around him and a career in life. It
was very clear that he was going down a very negative path; Carver got into a toxic marriage, was
diagnosed with cancer, was hospitalized for his drinking problems many times and was going to die.
Once he moved to California and found his passion for literature, his whole life seemed to have turned
around. He began to feel happier, quit drinking, divorced his first wife and married the love of his life,
Tess Gallagher. Carver typically writes stories, but also poems based on his life experiences. In
Raymond Carver s Late Fragment, a heavily enforced message is that it is not necessary to dwell on
the smaller things in life because in the end it s all up to how we feel we lived life. Carver s use of
diction throughout the poem helps to illustrate how we should live our life to the

How Textiles And Fashion Designers Have Contributed And...
SUSTAINABILITY ESSAY Explore and comment on how textiles and fashion designers have
contributed and approached fundamental issues within ecological design. INTRODUCTION
Ecological design is the sole responsibility of innovation and the creativity of products and objects
that will sustain our society and future societies. It is critical that we change the way sustainable
design is perceived and interpreted, by beginning to develop an understanding of the history and
journey from Green design into Sustainable design as well as looking at the direction in which we
would like it to progress to. This requires a comprehension of what these initial terms mean and how
this relates to their cultural, social and economic context, all of ... Show more content on

Finally, scrutinizing the information to form a conclusive paragraph reevaluating whether future
designers are considering these issues and whether a new sustainable design mentality is evolving.
GREEN, ECOLOGICAL OR SUSTAINABLE Concepts of ecological design are not necessarily new
or modern; it s the nature of re inventing and re visiting that the term is founded upon. But there are
differences between the terms, some more subtle than others. Typically Green design is associated
with getting the environmental message out there to the masses, focusing more on the environmental
issues and looking into plentiful natural resources. The key words being masses and plentiful, instead
of a less is more mentality that starts to be adopted in Ecological design this suggests a substitution of
product to fill that consumerism addiction. Green design became particularly popular in the 1980 s,
due to a foundation built by the environmental movement of the late 60 s and 70 s, which sparked a
growing awareness into environmental issues; it becomes a pinnacle point of where Ecological design
meets the mainstream. In an extract from Ecological Design: A new critique, Pauline Madge (1997,
p.44) informs us that because green encapsulated green politics, current environmental concerns, and
identified them with a specific colour, in an unprecedented way, green design arrived with a ready
made symbolism: green products, green packaging, and numerous books

Dante And The Nature Of Sin
Dante and the Nature of Sin
Often, we cannot see the good until we have experienced the bad. Dante Alighieri, a poet who makes
himself the main character in his Divine Comedy, finds himself lost in a dark wood at the start of The
Inferno. Though he sees a safe path out of the wood towards an alluring light, he is forced to take an
alternate route through an even darker place. As the ending of the pilgrim Dante s voyage is bright and
hopeful, Alighieri the poet aims to encourage even the most sinful Christians to hope for a successful
end. Thus, Dante the pilgrim goes to hell in The Inferno to better understand the nature of sin and its
consequences in order to move closer to salvation; his journey an allegory representing that of the
repenting Christian soul. Before Virgil arrives to guide Dante on his journey, Dante shares that he
doesn t recall how he lost his way. He tells How I entered [the dark wood] I cannot truly say, I had
become so sleepy at the moment when I first strayed, leaving the path of truth (Inferno I.10 12).
Because he strayed from the holy path, Dante finds himself lost and trying to find his way back on the
right track. Dante s ultimate goal is to to free himself from the dark wood of confusion and chaos.
Looking up from the wood, Dante sees the hilltop shawled in morning rays of light sent from the
planet that leads men straight ahead on every road (Inferno I.16 18). Dante begins to move towards the
light, but is blocked from passing by three

The Goal Of The Accounting And Audit Professions Essay
The goal of the accounting and audit professions is to provide statements and information on behalf of
a firm that are reliable and relevant to users. In order to accomplish this goal, the accounting and audit
professions have continuously evolved in order to meet the needs of said users. In this new age of
accounting, we feel the need for accountants and auditors to further modify their methodology and
process. With the focus of accounting and auditing staying the same, we in the profession must be sure
to strive to produce valuable information to the end users. First we will discuss the importance of
intangibles and their value to a company. This value is being under disclosed using traditional
accounting methods, and therefore the accounting profession must be modified in order to properly
value intangibles when presenting users with the finished financial statements. Secondly, this paper
will divulge into how the effects of corporate disclosures through new media may inadvertently force
auditing profession to adapt accordingly. Due to corporations having the ability to disclose earnings
using new media, the users of this information need to be able to recognize that it is trustworthy.
Lastly, the idea of new emerging technologies causing the auditing profession to change will be
discussed. While companies have yet to adapt the mainstream use of computer systems, the future of
bookkeeping will most likely be done entirely by computer systems, thereby rendering the

Analysis Of If By Rudyard Kipling
I chose poetry because it usually carries many rhetorical elements and is open to more interpretation.
Kipling is successful in achieving this through his poetry because of his experiences and audience.
The main audience he is writing to would be his son, but once he circulated his work physically and
then eventually onto the Internet, the poem applied to many different people. I chose Kipling s piece
in particular because of the emotional bond he distinguished with his audience along with the many
interpretations I was able to gain from this piece. Depending on where a person is at in their life
maturity wise, they can get different lessons from this piece and I found that very unique about his
writing and how he was maximizing the use of his literature. In If, a poem by Rudyard Kipling, he
integrates his personal experiences in a parallel structure in order to form an emotional bond to the
audience and leave the ending open with multiple interpretations.
Kipling s person experiences are constructed to leave a message of maturity for both audiences.
Kipling has his poetry set in a parallel structure and left many of the lines open ended for further
interpretation. He guides the reader in the right direction of the mature thing to do, however,
depending on where a person is at, the audience will take their own route with their personal mindset.
Kipling is trying to convey the message that maturity is not age, but rather growing from situations
and how a person handles

John Peter Brief Biography
John Peter (1900 1950) began his career in the early 1920 s, after a musical childhood and several
years of study in US. By the time his first opera, The Protagonist (Peter Georg), was performed in
April 1926, he was an established young German composer. But he had already decided to devote
himself to the musical theater, and his works with Bertolt Brecht soon made him famous all over
Europe. He fled the new Nazi leadership in March 1933 and continued his indefatigable efforts, first in
Paris (1933 35), then in the U.S. until his death. Certain common threads tie together his career: a
concern for social justice, an aggressive pursuit of highly regarded playwrights and lyricists as
collaborators, and the ability to adapt to audience tastes no matter where he found himself. His most
important works: the Violin Concerto (1925), The Threepenny Opera (Bertolt Brecht, 1928), Rise and
Fall of the City of Mahagonny (Brecht, 1930), The Pledge (Caspar Neher, 1932), The Seven Deadly
Sins (Brecht, 1933), Lady in the Dark (Moss Hart and Ira Gershwin, 1941), Street Scene (Elmer Rice
and Langston Hughes, 1947), Lost in the Stars (Maxwell Anderson, 1949). He died of heart failure in
1950, shortly after he and Anderson began work on a musical adaptation of Huckleberry Finn, leaving
behind a large catalogue of works and a reputation that continues to grow as more of his music is
performed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Deception By William Shakespeare s Play
In William Shakespeare s play 1 Henry IV, deception is a recurring theme. Main characters King
Henry IV and Hotspur deceived other characters in order to benefit themselves. Were these characters
deceiving their subordinates for the sole purpose of gaining power for themselves or were their
choices and actions political strategy geared toward gaining honor and maintaining the well being of
the nation? It is hard to answer this with an exact, correct answer since the only person that can really
answer the question is no longer here, but from these two characters actions we can draw conclusions.
However, it is not as black and white what their intentions were when they used deception since they
both show qualities that make their deception look good and bad. The question arises from this, did
King Henry and Hotspur use their deception merely for their own personal benefit or for the benefit of
the country as a whole? Shakespeare depicted King Henry as having more complicated reasons for
taking the throne since we see both sides where he shows he wants it for his own benefit but also we
see that he wants it for the benefits of others while with Hotspur it is pretty clear to see that he used
deception to try and gain power just for selfish reasons. Two of the characters take the same route to
achieve power and influence, deception, but their intentions for doing so differ. On one hand there s
King Henry, who although he does not appear a lot throughout the play, one can

Factors Affecting The Growth Of A Developed Countries
10) Urbanization in the less developed countries has much been the result of demographic growth that
rather than economic development like in developed countries. The demographic trend of rapid
declines in death rates compared to birth rates has generated large increases in population. A Lot of the
urbanization of developing country populations is due to rural urban migration. The decision to
migrate mainly involves push and pull factors . Push factors such as bad economic, political, and
environmental circumstances force migrants out of rural areas. Pull factors may include a desire for
employment and the idea of better access to schools, health clinics, piped water and other facilities
that are not widely available in rural regions. which attract migrants to urban areas. Displacement,
political circumstances and war related conflicts have also led migrates to urban areas. The
disproportionate number of youth in these migrations bring forth another component of urban growth,
natural increase. Natural increase refers to a rise in population because the birth rates are higher than
the death rates. Natural increase accounts for about 60 percent of urban population growth in less
developed countries. Natural increase gives indications on how fast populations development while
showing growth tendencies. The natural increase is found by subtracting deaths from births and
dividing the result by number of the total population. The correlation between urban growth and high

Taking a Look at Civil Engineers
The job of a civil engineer is to fix, or build many of our modern conveniences including bridges.
Skill in math (specifically measurement and angles) is required for the most part. It is a risky job
though because if you design something wrong, you will pay big. Civil engineers are a soul of a cities
construction.
Civil Engineers have many job duties because many workers depend on them. Civil engineers have a
lot of variables in their building including construction cost, and government regulations. They also
preform many tests to determine how they will build on the area, and what the structure is built with (
Civil Engineers. Career). The job requires provide or present findings, cost estimates, and submit
permits or applications. They manage many workers including Civil engineering technicians,
architects, and construction workers ( Civil Engineers. U.S.). Civil engineers have very important job
duties because if their structures fail that will not be good for them.
The work environments of a civil engineer can vary widely. Civil engineers Most of the time work
near major cities, but sometimes they work in remote or foreign areas. Offices, labs, factories and the
actual sites are work environments of many civil engineers. In offices they typically develop plans for
a survey. If the Civil engineers visit the site of the job they usually take photos and measurements
there ( Civil Engineers Encyclopedia 529). Civil engineers stay indoors mostly at their offices ( Civil

The Importance Of Reducing The Emissions That Are Emitted...
Altomonte
The article stats off with talking about the importance of reducing the emissions that are emitted by,
and go into building buildings. The article explains the history of global warming, and the science
behind the basics of climate change and warming. It stateZs how humans have changed the chemistry
of the atmosphere through the combustion of fossil fuels and living matter, bringing about the prospect
of global alterations and shifts in the whole terrestrial climate system(Altomonte,2008,pg.97). It is this
reason that the world is experiencing climate change, and though the climate may have been naturally
warming since the beginning of time, it was at a pace that was slow enough to species to migrate when

Climate change is expected to negatively affect the future of most developing countries, increasing the
pressure on available resources that are associated with urbanisation and industrialisation(102). With
these affects in mind, Altomonte explains the mitigation and adaptations strategies to mitigate the
possible consequences of climate change. He highlights the issue of buildings, and how they highly
contribute to the issue of direct fossil fuel emissions, and therefore it is necessary that buildings reduce
their dependency on fossil fuels, curb their energy demands, exploit clean power sources and minimise
their wastes(103). Suitable technologies must therefore be integrated into the design of current
buildings to guarantee social, economic and environmental growth. Using new design strategies is
necessary to create buildings that ensure comfort and health of the staff, as well as do not negatively
impact the environment. To create such a building all fields of study must be included, inclduing
physchology, climatology and engineering so that there is whole understanding of the necessary
features for the building to reduce emissions and include necessary social, econmic and cultural values
(106). Altomonte states how these conditions of a new climate, now seem unavoidable(99), but there

he is basically responding to an advertisement from the Birmingham news. He was extremely
reasonable and modest all throughout his letter. He goes into great detail about how even though the
protestors at the movement were breaking federal laws but, their actions obeyed the moral law. When
he said this in his letter he was referring to St. Augustine because he says An unjust law is no law at all

In order to design such a building for seismological risks, preliminary research is done about the
geological conditions of the city, fault locations, and earthquake history. Three earthquakes were
chosen that occurred in the vicinity of the city, and their characteristics were analyzed, as were any
effects resulting from those quakes, including liquefaction, landslides, or settlement. At the conclusion
of this project, recommendations for the structure were provided in relation to the seismic analysis of
the area. The structure must follow any codes regarding seismic design, as well as perform up to the
standard set by various organizations, such as the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

Introduction
1.1 Background Information
Earthquakes rank as one of the most devastating natural disasters that can occur, causing damage to
multiple facets of society. Earthquakes can cause major damage to vital infrastructure, cost human
lives, and trigger other events that can cause even more destruction. Throughout history, earthquakes
have caused millions, even billions of dollars of damage to cities and towns alike. Much of the
destruction resulting from earthquakes is a product of poor design against seismic loads and forces.
However as we have become more educated about what causes earthquakes and where they come
from, we have been able to better fortify our structures to resist such forces, and have been able to

Physics Of Crumple Zones
Crumple zones are structural areas in the front, sometimes rear of a vehicle that are designed to absorb
energy upon impact in a predictable way.
When a car crash occurs, the goal is for the structure to crush in a relatively gradual, predictable way
that absorbs much of the impact energy, keeping it away from the occupants in what is termed a
controlled crush.
Physics of car crumple zones
Newton s first law indicates that an object in motion will remain in motion with the same speed along
with the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. As a result, if a vehicle is going
70mph, the bodies inside are as well. If the vehicle collides with a solid wall and stops immediately,
the bodies will want to continue going in the same ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The car s front structure is divided into zones, each of them with the specific role during the
deformation process. The different properties have been achieved by using different grades of steel
making the outer zones softer than the inner zones, also ensuring that the collision forces are absorbed
and controlled in an efficient manner in order to minimise intrusion into the passenger compartment.
The engine also contributes to effective defamation due to its space saving transverse installation and
that all main components in the engine bay have their own predetermined positions even after a frontal
collision in order to help reduce component intrusion into the cabin and provide the occupants with

Metrorail Investigation
Today s experience was pretty much a unique one. Probably because it was not done individually but
it was required to be done in groups. It was amazing to do a community investigation and have four
completely different people jump on a Metrorail together. I was amazed of what everyone had to say,
the differences in opinions and the type of discussions that we were having between one another. To
begin with I knew I was going to be one of the few to be excited to hop on the Metrorail and explore
the different areas of Houston which my hypothesis was right. I can still recall how everyone followed
me to the station when they found out I have used the Metrorail before. To be honest I thought it was
pretty funny to the point, I walked around campus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

was about a mile away (about 4 5 blocks) from the initial stop. you know many of them comment
about the walking distance, weather, surrounding area, people, taking notes of the smallest objects in
the street. I remember walking to 3 miles just to get groceries so I think 1 mile is pretty good. I mean I
counted like 26 greenspaces which 20 were for new developmental sites and 6 for extra place or parks.
The Metrorail had access to more than 9 spots that can be considered for necessity for an example
Latino learning service. It was quite remarkable how many stores provided services too many to count
like restaurants, food marts, salons, and parking lots (paid). It was good to see the different point of
views between my classmates between myself. I asked a working class citizen why do they use a
Metro. Response I don t want to use my car I mean is a good way to dodge traffic . I asked a low
income person the same question and response was I don t own a house, I don t own a car, I don t own
debt . To me those are two impacting statements. It is true what my mom says your trash is somebody
else s treasure so if you feel like the Metro Rail is trash for somebody else the Metro Rail is a treasure.
just because It did not leave you in front of a grocery store doesn t mean it s not useful. at least you
have a roof to when it is raining, heater during the winters, space for comfort and A/C during the hot
summers. This is a good social experiment for those who think they know everything. It is all about
Priorities I say. how about drawing the line between necessity, services, and entertainment? It is all
about self motivation. is walking ten miles for entertainment is the same thing as walking ten miles for
a necessity? I mean I can go two ways

excercises and meditation. But this is not always the case. There is more to Yoga than just the
exercise. For those who studied Indian Philosophy, Hinduism or Indian culture and history, Yoga is not
just all those things; it is something more. So what is Yoga to begin with? The word yoga literally
means union . Union in the sense of spiritual union of the individual soul with the Universal Soul.
Yoga is a Hindu theistic philosophy teaching the suppression of all activity of body, mind, and will in

Following the Yama is Niyama. Unlike Yama, Niyama is the inner discipline and responsibilities.
Niyama is considered as the duties to the self; culturing oneself. Like yama, there are also five
Niyamas. The first of these Niyamas is shauca or purity. Purity or cleanliness is to be observed both in
the outer (physical) and inner (spiritual) aspects. In the outer and physical aspect, one has to take care
of his/her body and environment. Purity of the body entails one to take proper care of one s health and
condition. Eating healthy foods and not abusing the body are examples of proper care for the body. A
clean surrounding also contributes to the purity of the body. The other aspect is the inner and spiritual
aspect. Shauca in this aspect requires one to acquire pure thoughts and words. Next is santosha or
contentment. This means the acceptance of things as they are. Throughout life s troubles, one should
find happiness and contentment. This brings peace in one s life. And so, one needs to understand that
he/she cannot have the best of both worlds. One should be happy with what he/she has, rather than

The Science And History And Development Of The Influenza...
Introduction Influenza vaccines, also known as flu shots, are vaccines that claim to protect against
influenza. The extent to which the influenza vaccine reduces the risk of disease under controlled
conditions is known as the vaccine s efficacy. The testing of vaccine efficacy is quite stringent and
involves Phase I, II, and III trials. Two of which, are double blinded placebo controlled trials.
Influenza adapts, and mutates such that is never the same from year to year, and therefore making the
double blinded placebo controlled trials very difficult to accomplish before the vaccine is needed to be
released to the public. This causes an ethical predicament in which there is a trade off between waiting
to project which viruses will be prevalent in the upcoming year, and beginning deciding on the
projected viruses earlier in order to conduct the efficacy testing. In this paper we review the science
and history of influenza as well as the science, history and development of the influenza vaccines. We
then discuss the stringent process required by law in order to test vaccines before they reach the
population. We look at the efficacy studies conducted by the CDC, and conflicting views of geneticists
highly involved in vaccine safety. Finally, we present an overall assessment of the efficacy of the
influenza vaccine, and leave to the reader, the level of efficacy the influenza vaccine has actually
achieved.

In this chapter of Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell, he talks about rumors, sneakers and the power
of translation. Throughout the chapter he kept with the theme of change and the way that things can

mountain biking, and bicycle racing, sponsoring riders in all of those sports and making Arwalk

Naughton Thesis Statement
Thesis Statement: Naughton s overall goal in this article was for the audience to consider both sides of
the argument and create their own belief upon the matter by using rhetorical choices such as appealing
to expert opinions, statistics used in a poll, the tone and advanced diction.
Quote 1: Although there is much still to understand about the brain, the impact of the internet has
helped us to learn new ways of measuring its organization as a network. It has also begun to show us
that the human brain probably does not represent some unique pinnacle of complexity but may have
more in common than we might have guessed with many other information processing networks

Analysis 1: I will use this in my first body paragraph as a example of the rhetorical choice appeal to
expert opinion with the expert expressing the internet affects the brain in a positive way. The majority
of the article and the overall rhetorical choice used by Naughton is the use of different opinions of
experts and writers to strength the article s credibility. Naughton displays the statements of both

Non Hodgkin s lymphoma are cancers that do not originate in white blood cells but rather elsewhere
in the lymphatic system such as a lymph node, bone marrow, spleen, or thymus and are categorized
into which cells it effects such as B cell, T cell and NK cells (MD Cancer Center, 2015). B cell
lymphoma represents the majority of non Hodgkin Lymphoma (85%) and of these Mantle Cell
Lymphoma (MCL) represents about 5% of the type of B cell lymphoma (American Cancer Society,

Polarized Bamboo Sunglasses Research Paper
Polarized Bamboo Sunglasses
Sunglasses are usually worn as a protective eyewear. They protect your eyes from the strong
ultraviolet rays of the sun; any other bright and harsh lights which can be dangerous for your eyes
when exposed to for a long duration. Injuries can be caused to different parts of the eyes like the
retina, iris and the cornea and constant injuries can leave a long lasting and permanent damage. If you
thought sunglasses are only for the summer season, think again. Of course, to dodge the staunch
sunlight, you have to wear sunglasses but they are also worn during driving. People with contact lens
have to rely on sunglasses to protect them from debris and dust particles entering their eyes as it can
be painful and leads to scratching of the cornea.

Polarized lenses work well for joggers, bikers, golfers, skiers, fishermen and boaters. These sunglasses
when used for driving can reduce the glare that comes off the surface of the road or car. This can also
be used indoors by light sensitive people. While ordinary tinted lenses reduce brightness, only
polarized lenses eliminate glare. With the help of polarized bamboo sunglasses, you can add style and
at the same time eliminate glare.
When looking to buy new sunglasses, you want to make sure you are looking for the best glasses, not

Film Music Evaluation
Perhaps because my father was a musician and because every day since I can remember music has
been in the background or literally behind the scene in every aspect of my life that makes prone to the
tunes located in a film s soundtrack, but regardless I believe the music within a movie to be one of its
most important and integral aspects one which might consistently be taken for granted. As an
audience, we are accustomed to watching a film and analyzing the process and its creation undergoes.
More than often the soundtrack is ignored. Perhaps the ability to break down a movie into smaller
clips and our focus on visual simulation is what makes sound unnoticeable. And where we pause a
film to study its scenes, to study sound we must dedicate our time to listen to the sounds which is itself
an endeavor.
They say that a picture is speaks a thousand words. I say that where pictures and words stop words
leave off music begins. Music like an epidemic is silent, but can have a powerful effect. Whether, we

During the time of the Spaniard rule, the Indians were subjugated to not only the crown s law but also
to the Spaniards religion. From the time that the Spaniards landed until the time Pueblo s revolt took
place the Indians were treated terribly. They were not only made into slaves but they were starved, and
treated with violence when the Spaniard friars began to convert the Indians to Christianity. Spain
wanted to become rich off American land but they also had another goal, to convert the Indians

Deception And Deception In Much Ado About Nothing By...
In Shakespearean drama, a common motif is that of deception and disguise. There are two types of
deception: those that are benign and those that are pernicious. Benign trickery is a less serious form of
trickery. On the other hand, pernicious trickery is more serious and has lasting implications as a result.
In the play Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare, deception features prominently.
Examples of deception in the play include Benedick and Beatrice being tricked into believing they
love one another, everyone being tricked into believing Hero was dead, and Claudio and Don Pedro
being tricked into believing Hero was unfaithful to him, and they contribute to the development of the
play s important themes by highlighting Shakespeare s ideas and opinions that are expressed in the
play. Two important themes in this particular play are that not all trickery is evil and status in a society
is important, which are both highlighted through deception in this play. Shakespeare uses several
examples of deception in the play to develop the play s important themes. First of all, one example of
deception in the play is when Benedick is tricked into believing Beatrice loves him and Beatrice is
tricked into believing Benedick loves her. Claudio, Leonato, and the Prince have a conversation and
Hero and Margaret have another conversation in such manners that Benedick and Beatrice can
overhear them purposefully. In the conversation between Claudio, Leonato, and the Prince, Leonato

During the period of reconstruction in the U.S., from 1865 1877, there were plans put in place by
Abraham Lincoln, Andrew Johnson, and Congress in hopes of a brighter future. Reconstruction took

during the Civil War, and he had plans prepared at the end of his presidency because he sensed that the
nation would have to be rebuilt through a reconstruction period. Once he was assassinated in 1865, his

Throughout the reconstruction period, Congress also made plans to benefit the country. From 1865
1877, Congress established three new amendments: The thirteenth, fourteenth, and fifteenth. The
thirteenth amendment officially abolished slavery in 1865. In 1868, the fourteenth amendment was
ratified, declaring every person a citizen if born in the U.S., limiting a state s power to enforce laws
that harm the privileges of citizens, or deprive them of freedom, and attempted to force Southern
states to allow voting to blacks. The fifteenth amendment was ratified in 1870, which forbade all
states to deny the vote to anyone on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude. Another
plan that was advantageous towards the U.S. was the last Reconstruction Act created by Congress.
Ultimately, this law, through some revisions, enabled black southerners to vote. The most important
plan that Congress created was the Compromise of 1877, which ended reconstruction. After twelve
long years of tension in the U.S., the Compromise of 1877 was ratified, signaling a better and brighter
future for every state, every citizen, and the country as a whole. Even though Abraham Lincoln,
Andrew Johnson, and Congress all made plans that had its advantages, some of those plans and others
had a fair amount of disadvantages.

Examples Of Faith In Night By Elie Wiesel
Death, murder, bloody horror! The death of many can destroy the minds of millions, just imagine what

social networks and the wide spread of smart phones, it is becoming more and more frequent and
convenient for individuals to share resources, such as status, texts, photos, videos, and so on, with

Limitations and Common Issues with 3D Printing Essay
It would have been clear by now that 3D printing has some obvious advantages. However, sensitivity
to a number of considerations is needed when new boundaries are broken using science and
engineering. Following are the common issues that arises out of the emergence of 3D printing
Cost and Time
3D printing can t compete with mainstream manufacturing technologies with respect to cost and time
for manufacturing. It may take anywhere between a few minutes to several hours to manufacture a
product using 3D printing depending upon the material used, size and complexity. It is also possible
that 3D printing companies might lock in consumers through proprietary supply chain channel which

Most people do not yet realize that research is underway which involves not only printing non human

depending on their backgrounds, there will be some who will be concerned about this possibility,
Gartner research director Pete Basiliere says [12]
The rapid emergence of 3D printing will also create major challenges in relation to intellectual

Insurance Considerations
Since 3D printing is a disruptive industry, it is not easy to understand the future implications beyond
educated guesses. Since insurance industry typically needs historical data to calculate claims, they
have their work cut out with respect to calculating the claims that may arise out of this industry
category.
The potential claims can be a product liability including accidental injury/damage due to the 3D
printed product or legal liability due to IP issues [14].
With a supply chain which may not involve any physical products as designs and manufacturing
processes can be sent electronically,

The Aztecs Essay
The Aztecs encountered the conquistadors, the leader of the group was a Spanish named Hernan
Cortés. In 1521, the Aztecs caused their enemies to suffer major losses. Though the Aztecs didn t all
die to the war, the Aztecs mostly died out due to the diseases that the Spaniards brought over.
The Aztecs had pyramids comparable to the Egyptians, but on top of these pyramids the Aztecs built
temples. These temples on the pyramids were used to worship the Aztecs three more important gods,
Huitzilopochtli, Quetzalcoatl and Tezcatlipoca. But not only did they have house shrines, they also
had schools, sacred pools, altars, gardens, and dormitories. Some temples had arsenals inside and ball
courts.
There were also large buildings, like the Emperor s palace. The palace consisted of four main rooms,
balls courts, a ceremonial plaza, and even chinampas. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Badianus Manuscript, there is a codex that explained how to use plants and trees to create
treatments and ailments which contained over 180 recipes. Herbalists that used these recipes were
called the tictil . Also these recipes actually had some scientific backing behind them. Another
advancement was the calendars the Aztecs used. These calendars were called Tonalpohualli (day count
260 days) and Xiuhpohualli (solar year 365 days ). Even though these calendars had different day
counts, they coincided after 52 years.
The Aztecs had a writing system consisted of ideograms and pictograms, and was very similar to the
Mayan system. To understand these pictograms you needed to also understand Aztec cultural
conventions. An example of a pictogram would be a corpse wrapped in bandages, which represented
death. This would be a reason that the Aztecs were better than the Incas since the Incas didn t have a
writing system at all. Aztec literature was written in paper made of Agave plant fiber and were folded
like a fan. These books were called codices (or a

We Land On The Moon Research Paper
We Landed on the Moon ... Allegedly
On July 20, 1969 American astronauts, Neil
Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed on the moon at 20:18 UTC, allegedly. Conspiracists have a theory
that the moon landing was fake, and that it was really filmed in a studio. People think that America
wanted to be superior to Russia, so they faked it to show that they are more advanced in technology
associated with space travel. There is a great deal of evidence from the moon landing that proves it is
fake. During the moon landing astronaut Buzz Aldrin put down the American Flag to show America
was the first country to land on the moon. When he put the flag down the flag waved. Except in space
there is very little gravity, therefore if it was on the moon the flag wouldn t of waved. Another piece of
evidence that America/NASA faked the moon landing was that in the ... Show more content on

NASA said that the flag waved because Aldrin twisted the flag to get moon soil, which caused it to
wave. They responded to the theory about the weird shadow by saying, the moon s surface reflects the
sun and with the glare the stars would be hard to see. An astronomer named Phil Plait said They were
taking pictures at 1/150th or 1/250th of a second. In that amount of time, stars just don t show up.
NASA thinks that it s absurd that people think that the moon landing is fake and people are just want
to be against them.
When the moon landing happened it was during the Cold War. The Cold War was between the world s
two superpowers, The United States and Russia. They were competing over technology advancement
and who could do more. Conspiracists think that the United States didn t have the technology to make
it safely on the moon, so they faked it to beat Russia. Russia and the United States always were
finding ways to beat each other, so the United States wanted to show the world that they were better
and had new

Comparing The Real Inspector Hound And Deathtrap
In both The Real Inspector Hound and Deathtrap, the authors Tom Stoppard and Iva Levin,
respectively, use the play within a play to enhance the idea of reality as well as to suggest the power of
illusion over reality. In Tom Stoppard s The Real Inspector Hound, the two narratives become
entangled and nearly impossible to separate. The play begins with two distinct narrative arcs: the
action at Muldoon manor, the play within a play, and the two theater critics, Moon and Birdboot,
watching the play. However by the end of the play, Moon and Birdboot are literally caught up in the
drawing room murder mystery that they are supposed to be reviewing. Made to function within two
structural units, the characters acquire one identity in the outer play their real identities and another in
the inner play. However, the distinction between the identities, and, even, between the plays, ... Show

In it s entirety, Deathtrap is an illusion in which Clifford Anderson s play, like the actual play itself, is
entitled Deathtrap, and is also a one set, five character thriller. However, unlike a traditional play,
Myra is the sole audience member to Sidney Bruhl and Clifford Anderson s performance. Myra is
convinced of a reality where Bruhl is willing to kill Anderson in order to steal his script. But when
Anderson seemingly rises from the dead and apparently beats Bruhl to death, Myra, shocked and
terrified, drops dead of a heart attack. At this moment, Anderson declares that their plan has been
successful: Anderson s murder had been staged to shock and kill Myra. Anderson and Bruhl s mini
play created a false sense of reality to which Myra fell victim. This skewing of reality becomes the
basis for Deathtrap as a whole since Anderson and Bruhl s original illusion shape all of the following

Analysis of Microsoft Financial Statements
Analysis of Financial Statements
Financial statements are frequently a key source of information for financial decisions and taking a
look at Microsoft s financial statements can help us decide certain things about the company. There
are three different types of statements that will be discussed in this section. These include: the balance
sheet, the income statement, and the statement of cash flows. They are discussed here in either the
sense of quarterly or yearly statements and will be noted as so. All information has been derived from
Yahoo Finance. (http://finance.yahoo.com) The first statement that will be analyzed for Microsoft is
the balance sheet. The balance sheet is essentially a snapshot of what the firm owns ... Show more

The final section of the statement of cash flows is the financing section, which shows the dividends
paid, the purchases of stock, the net borrowings, and other possible cash flows from financing
activities. A positive trend for investors is the fact that dividends paid has increased (even though it is
negative to the firm) as well as sale purchase of stock, from 2009 to 2011 and even increased quarterly
in 2011. The net borrowings is off an on from 2009 to 2011 possibly because of certain funds needed
in particular years. In 2009, it was $5,746,000,000 and in 2010, it was $190,000,000. It shot back up
again in 2011, with $5,960,000,000. The three statements that were provided in this section provide
possible investors, competitors, and even those within the company with useful information to make
important decisions that could affect their livelihood or the livelihood of Microsoft. Keep in mind that
even though financial statements are a solid indicator of how a company is performing, one key
principle about must be known when viewing them to make decisions. They do not always provide all
of the information that you may need. There are usually underlying topics that could affect the
company that are not necessarily showing up on their financial statements. These topics are discussed
in other sections of this report on Microsoft.
We feel it important to compare Microsoft s ratios not only to other companies and industry norms,

Neil Gaiman s The Graveyard Book
The Graveyard Book was written from a simple inspiration, but the novel expressed a unique plotline.
Neil Gaiman was motivated by his at the time two year old son that rode his BMX in the cemetery.
The Graveyard book was published by Harper Collins in 2008, but it also accomplished many awards
in 2010, such as: the Newbery Medal, Hugo Award for Best Novel, Locus Award for Best Young Adult
Novel, and Carnegie Award. These awards were not received without purpose, as this novel had many
intriguing aspects. Neil Gaiman created a complex plot with many captivating characters and

  • 2. Tempcolonizing Mars Viet Mai ESS 102 AL Writing Project Day 0: Background and Mission Start It is February here on Earth. The year is 2071. Humans have long abandoned the idea of completely colonizing Mars. Instead, they have decided to build outposts in space much like the European explorers in the 16th century, on route to China for trade to protect the motherland s trade route from enemies and refuel ships. About 10 years ago, scientists began building an outpost on Mars a few miles from Gale Crater. Robots are maintaining the facility, but their hands are not quite suited for wiring the base. Thus, NASA deemed it necessary to send humans to Mars to get the base running for future missions on an improved version of NASA s Orion spacecraft. The Orion spacecraft ... • 4. Late Fragment By Raymond Carver Analysis Poetry; a gift from the gods of literature, blessing all those that read it with intellect and awareness of very important issues or even a fun piece of writing to indulge in. Throughout history, many influential writers have made an impact on society with their writing. Raymond Carver, an award winning writer, wrote many poems and stories throughout his career that shaped writing for many other poets. Carver was born into a family of poverty and from a young age, he did not have an ideal relationship with his parents due to the strong use of alcohol by his father. Later on in his life, Carver became an alcoholic and tried to distance himself from everyone around him and a career in life. It was very clear that he was going down a very negative path; Carver got into a toxic marriage, was diagnosed with cancer, was hospitalized for his drinking problems many times and was going to die. Once he moved to California and found his passion for literature, his whole life seemed to have turned around. He began to feel happier, quit drinking, divorced his first wife and married the love of his life, Tess Gallagher. Carver typically writes stories, but also poems based on his life experiences. In Raymond Carver s Late Fragment, a heavily enforced message is that it is not necessary to dwell on the smaller things in life because in the end it s all up to how we feel we lived life. Carver s use of diction throughout the poem helps to illustrate how we should live our life to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

SUSTAINABILITY ESSAY Explore and comment on how textiles and fashion designers have contributed and approached fundamental issues within ecological design. INTRODUCTION Ecological design is the sole responsibility of innovation and the creativity of products and objects that will sustain our society and future societies. It is critical that we change the way sustainable design is perceived and interpreted, by beginning to develop an understanding of the history and journey from Green design into Sustainable design as well as looking at the direction in which we would like it to progress to. This requires a comprehension of what these initial terms mean and how this relates to their cultural, social and economic context, all of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Finally, scrutinizing the information to form a conclusive paragraph reevaluating whether future designers are considering these issues and whether a new sustainable design mentality is evolving. GREEN, ECOLOGICAL OR SUSTAINABLE Concepts of ecological design are not necessarily new or modern; it s the nature of re inventing and re visiting that the term is founded upon. But there are differences between the terms, some more subtle than others. Typically Green design is associated with getting the environmental message out there to the masses, focusing more on the environmental issues and looking into plentiful natural resources. The key words being masses and plentiful, instead of a less is more mentality that starts to be adopted in Ecological design this suggests a substitution of product to fill that consumerism addiction. Green design became particularly popular in the 1980 s, due to a foundation built by the environmental movement of the late 60 s and 70 s, which sparked a growing awareness into environmental issues; it becomes a pinnacle point of where Ecological design meets the mainstream. In an extract from Ecological Design: A new critique, Pauline Madge (1997, p.44) informs us that because green encapsulated green politics, current environmental concerns, and identified them with a specific colour, in an unprecedented way, green design arrived with a ready made symbolism: green products, green packaging, and numerous books ... • 6. Dante And The Nature Of Sin Dante and the Nature of Sin Often, we cannot see the good until we have experienced the bad. Dante Alighieri, a poet who makes himself the main character in his Divine Comedy, finds himself lost in a dark wood at the start of The Inferno. Though he sees a safe path out of the wood towards an alluring light, he is forced to take an alternate route through an even darker place. As the ending of the pilgrim Dante s voyage is bright and hopeful, Alighieri the poet aims to encourage even the most sinful Christians to hope for a successful end. Thus, Dante the pilgrim goes to hell in The Inferno to better understand the nature of sin and its consequences in order to move closer to salvation; his journey an allegory representing that of the repenting Christian soul. Before Virgil arrives to guide Dante on his journey, Dante shares that he doesn t recall how he lost his way. He tells How I entered [the dark wood] I cannot truly say, I had become so sleepy at the moment when I first strayed, leaving the path of truth (Inferno I.10 12). Because he strayed from the holy path, Dante finds himself lost and trying to find his way back on the right track. Dante s ultimate goal is to to free himself from the dark wood of confusion and chaos. Looking up from the wood, Dante sees the hilltop shawled in morning rays of light sent from the planet that leads men straight ahead on every road (Inferno I.16 18). Dante begins to move towards the light, but is blocked from passing by three ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Goal Of The Accounting And Audit Professions Essay The goal of the accounting and audit professions is to provide statements and information on behalf of a firm that are reliable and relevant to users. In order to accomplish this goal, the accounting and audit professions have continuously evolved in order to meet the needs of said users. In this new age of accounting, we feel the need for accountants and auditors to further modify their methodology and process. With the focus of accounting and auditing staying the same, we in the profession must be sure to strive to produce valuable information to the end users. First we will discuss the importance of intangibles and their value to a company. This value is being under disclosed using traditional accounting methods, and therefore the accounting profession must be modified in order to properly value intangibles when presenting users with the finished financial statements. Secondly, this paper will divulge into how the effects of corporate disclosures through new media may inadvertently force auditing profession to adapt accordingly. Due to corporations having the ability to disclose earnings using new media, the users of this information need to be able to recognize that it is trustworthy. • 9. Analysis Of If By Rudyard Kipling I chose poetry because it usually carries many rhetorical elements and is open to more interpretation. Kipling is successful in achieving this through his poetry because of his experiences and audience. The main audience he is writing to would be his son, but once he circulated his work physically and then eventually onto the Internet, the poem applied to many different people. I chose Kipling s piece in particular because of the emotional bond he distinguished with his audience along with the many interpretations I was able to gain from this piece. Depending on where a person is at in their life maturity wise, they can get different lessons from this piece and I found that very unique about his writing and how he was maximizing the use of his literature. In If, a poem by Rudyard Kipling, he integrates his personal experiences in a parallel structure in order to form an emotional bond to the audience and leave the ending open with multiple interpretations. Kipling s person experiences are constructed to leave a message of maturity for both audiences. Kipling has his poetry set in a parallel structure and left many of the lines open ended for further interpretation. He guides the reader in the right direction of the mature thing to do, however, depending on where a person is at, the audience will take their own route with their personal mindset. Kipling is trying to convey the message that maturity is not age, but rather growing from situations and how a person handles ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. John Peter Brief Biography John Peter (1900 1950) began his career in the early 1920 s, after a musical childhood and several years of study in US. By the time his first opera, The Protagonist (Peter Georg), was performed in April 1926, he was an established young German composer. But he had already decided to devote himself to the musical theater, and his works with Bertolt Brecht soon made him famous all over Europe. He fled the new Nazi leadership in March 1933 and continued his indefatigable efforts, first in Paris (1933 35), then in the U.S. until his death. Certain common threads tie together his career: a concern for social justice, an aggressive pursuit of highly regarded playwrights and lyricists as collaborators, and the ability to adapt to audience tastes no matter where he found himself. His most important works: the Violin Concerto (1925), The Threepenny Opera (Bertolt Brecht, 1928), Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny (Brecht, 1930), The Pledge (Caspar Neher, 1932), The Seven Deadly Sins (Brecht, 1933), Lady in the Dark (Moss Hart and Ira Gershwin, 1941), Street Scene (Elmer Rice and Langston Hughes, 1947), Lost in the Stars (Maxwell Anderson, 1949). He died of heart failure in 1950, shortly after he and Anderson began work on a musical adaptation of Huckleberry Finn, leaving behind a large catalogue of works and a reputation that continues to grow as more of his music is performed. ... • 11. Deception By William Shakespeare s Play In William Shakespeare s play 1 Henry IV, deception is a recurring theme. Main characters King Henry IV and Hotspur deceived other characters in order to benefit themselves. Were these characters deceiving their subordinates for the sole purpose of gaining power for themselves or were their choices and actions political strategy geared toward gaining honor and maintaining the well being of the nation? It is hard to answer this with an exact, correct answer since the only person that can really answer the question is no longer here, but from these two characters actions we can draw conclusions. However, it is not as black and white what their intentions were when they used deception since they both show qualities that make their deception look good and bad. The question arises from this, did King Henry and Hotspur use their deception merely for their own personal benefit or for the benefit of the country as a whole? Shakespeare depicted King Henry as having more complicated reasons for taking the throne since we see both sides where he shows he wants it for his own benefit but also we see that he wants it for the benefits of others while with Hotspur it is pretty clear to see that he used deception to try and gain power just for selfish reasons. Two of the characters take the same route to achieve power and influence, deception, but their intentions for doing so differ. • 12. Factors Affecting The Growth Of A Developed Countries 10) Urbanization in the less developed countries has much been the result of demographic growth that rather than economic development like in developed countries. The demographic trend of rapid declines in death rates compared to birth rates has generated large increases in population. A Lot of the urbanization of developing country populations is due to rural urban migration. The decision to migrate mainly involves push and pull factors . Push factors such as bad economic, political, and environmental circumstances force migrants out of rural areas. Pull factors may include a desire for employment and the idea of better access to schools, health clinics, piped water and other facilities that are not widely available in rural regions. which attract migrants to urban areas. Displacement, political circumstances and war related conflicts have also led migrates to urban areas. The disproportionate number of youth in these migrations bring forth another component of urban growth, natural increase. Natural increase refers to a rise in population because the birth rates are higher than the death rates. Natural increase accounts for about 60 percent of urban population growth in less developed countries. Natural increase gives indications on how fast populations development while showing growth tendencies. The natural increase is found by subtracting deaths from births and dividing the result by number of the total population. The correlation between urban growth and high ... Climate change is expected to negatively affect the future of most developing countries, increasing the pressure on available resources that are associated with urbanisation and industrialisation(102). With these affects in mind, Altomonte explains the mitigation and adaptations strategies to mitigate the possible consequences of climate change. He highlights the issue of buildings, and how they highly contribute to the issue of direct fossil fuel emissions, and therefore it is necessary that buildings reduce their dependency on fossil fuels, curb their energy demands, exploit clean power sources and minimise their wastes(103). Suitable technologies must therefore be integrated into the design of current buildings to guarantee social, economic and environmental growth. Using new design strategies is necessary to create buildings that ensure comfort and health of the staff, as well as do not negatively impact the environment. To create such a building all fields of study must be included, inclduing physchology, climatology and engineering so that there is whole understanding of the necessary features for the building to reduce emissions and include necessary social, econmic and cultural values (106). Physics of car crumple zones Newton s first law indicates that an object in motion will remain in motion with the same speed along with the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. As a result, if a vehicle is going 70mph, the bodies inside are as well. If the vehicle collides with a solid wall and stops immediately, the bodies will want to continue going in the same ... It was amazing to do a community investigation and have four completely different people jump on a Metrorail together. I was amazed of what everyone had to say, the differences in opinions and the type of discussions that we were having between one another. To begin with I knew I was going to be one of the few to be excited to hop on the Metrorail and explore the different areas of Houston which my hypothesis was right. I remember walking to 3 miles just to get groceries so I think 1 mile is pretty good. I mean I counted like 26 greenspaces which 20 were for new developmental sites and 6 for extra place or parks. The Metrorail had access to more than 9 spots that can be considered for necessity for an example Latino learning service. It was quite remarkable how many stores provided services too many to count like restaurants, food marts, salons, and parking lots (paid). It was good to see the different point of views between my classmates between myself. I asked a working class citizen why do they use a Metro. Response I don t want to use my car I mean is a good way to dodge traffic . I asked a low income person the same question and response was I don t own a house, I don t own a car, I don t own debt . To me those are two impacting statements. It is true what my mom says your trash is somebody else s treasure so if you feel like the Metro Rail is trash for somebody else the Metro Rail is a treasure. just because It did not leave you in front of a grocery store doesn t mean it s not useful. at least you have a roof to when it is raining, heater during the winters, space for comfort and A/C during the hot summers. This is a good social experiment for those who think they know everything. It is all about Priorities I say. how about drawing the line between necessity, services, and entertainment? • 23. The Science And History And Development Of The Influenza... Introduction Influenza vaccines, also known as flu shots, are vaccines that claim to protect against influenza. The extent to which the influenza vaccine reduces the risk of disease under controlled conditions is known as the vaccine s efficacy. The testing of vaccine efficacy is quite stringent and involves Phase I, II, and III trials. Two of which, are double blinded placebo controlled trials. Influenza adapts, and mutates such that is never the same from year to year, and therefore making the double blinded placebo controlled trials very difficult to accomplish before the vaccine is needed to be released to the public. This causes an ethical predicament in which there is a trade off between waiting to project which viruses will be prevalent in the upcoming year, and beginning deciding on the projected viruses earlier in order to conduct the efficacy testing. In this paper we review the science and history of influenza as well as the science, history and development of the influenza vaccines. We then discuss the stringent process required by law in order to test vaccines before they reach the population. We look at the efficacy studies conducted by the CDC, and conflicting views of geneticists highly involved in vaccine safety. Finally, we present an overall assessment of the efficacy of the influenza vaccine, and leave to the reader, the level of efficacy the influenza vaccine has actually achieved. What is Influenza? There are two types of deception: those that are benign and those that are pernicious. Benign trickery is a less serious form of trickery. On the other hand, pernicious trickery is more serious and has lasting implications as a result. In the play Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare, deception features prominently. Examples of deception in the play include Benedick and Beatrice being tricked into believing they love one another, everyone being tricked into believing Hero was dead, and Claudio and Don Pedro being tricked into believing Hero was unfaithful to him, and they contribute to the development of the play s important themes by highlighting Shakespeare s ideas and opinions that are expressed in the play. Two important themes in this particular play are that not all trickery is evil and status in a society is important, which are both highlighted through deception in this play. We think that once folks begin to realize, depending on their backgrounds, there will be some who will be concerned about this possibility, Gartner research director Pete Basiliere says [12] The rapid emergence of 3D printing will also create major challenges in relation to intellectual property (IP) theft. Gartner predicts that by 2018, 3D printing will result in the loss of at least $100 billion per year in IP globally [13] Insurance Considerations Since 3D printing is a disruptive industry, it is not easy to understand the future implications beyond educated guesses. But not only did they have house shrines, they also had schools, sacred pools, altars, gardens, and dormitories. Some temples had arsenals inside and ball courts. In the Badianus Manuscript, there is a codex that explained how to use plants and trees to create treatments and ailments which contained over 180 recipes. Herbalists that used these recipes were called the tictil . Also these recipes actually had some scientific backing behind them. Another advancement was the calendars the Aztecs used. These calendars were called Tonalpohualli (day count 260 days) and Xiuhpohualli (solar year 365 days ). Even though these calendars had different day counts, they coincided after 52 years. The Aztecs had a writing system consisted of ideograms and pictograms, and was very similar to the Mayan system. To understand these pictograms you needed to also understand Aztec cultural conventions. An example of a pictogram would be a corpse wrapped in bandages, which represented death. This would be a reason that the Aztecs were better than the Incas since the Incas didn t have a writing system at all. Comparing The Real Inspector Hound And Deathtrap In both The Real Inspector Hound and Deathtrap, the authors Tom Stoppard and Iva Levin, respectively, use the play within a play to enhance the idea of reality as well as to suggest the power of illusion over reality. In Tom Stoppard s The Real Inspector Hound, the two narratives become entangled and nearly impossible to separate. The play begins with two distinct narrative arcs: the action at Muldoon manor, the play within a play, and the two theater critics, Moon and Birdboot, watching the play. However by the end of the play, Moon and Birdboot are literally caught up in the drawing room murder mystery that they are supposed to be reviewing. Made to function within two structural units, the characters acquire one identity in the outer play their real identities and another in the inner play. However, the distinction between the identities, and, even, between the plays, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Myra is convinced of a reality where Bruhl is willing to kill Anderson in order to steal his script. But when Anderson seemingly rises from the dead and apparently beats Bruhl to death, Myra, shocked and terrified, drops dead of a heart attack. At this moment, Anderson declares that their plan has been successful: Anderson s murder had been staged to shock and kill Myra. Anderson and Bruhl s mini play created a false sense of reality to which Myra fell victim. This skewing of reality becomes the basis for Deathtrap as a whole since Anderson and Bruhl s original illusion shape all of the following ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
