The Riba Plan Of Work
The RIBA Plan of Work 2013 (Royal Institute Of British Architects, 2013) is a document that was
created by architects to aid with the design process of a building. The Plan provides a clear
structure within its eight work stages (0 7), the eight work stages outline tasks and outputs that
are required at the end of each stage. The Plan of works started in 1963 and has been revised 5
times since then, many contracts are related to or based on the plan of works. Stage 0 Strategic
Definition Stage 0 is the first stage in the RIBA Plan of Work (Royal Institute Of British
Architects, 2013), it is used mainly to establish a Business Case and a Strategic brief. A
Business Case is often a document / presentation which explains the reason behind initiating a
project, it is used to collate and analyse ideas and often includes information about cost and
whether a project is economically viable. The strategic brief is to do within defining the client s
needs and requirements this document will provide a basis to start the Initial Project brief
which comes under Stage 1. Stage 0 is where the client will start to think about the project team,
the client may know or want a certain architect and or consultant on the project due to past
experience. Stage 0 is also a chance to look at possible sites if one has not been chosen, or is
already owned by the client. This allows the client to do an initial review of the site and determine
anything that could be reused or that would need to be

Modernization And Development Towards Democracy
This research paper uncovers the study of modernization and how it correlates to political
development towards democracy. First, it examines the development and origins of the
modernization theory that encompass a number of explanations that connect economic, social and
cultural changes with shifts in political systems. Modernization puts forth the idea that economic
development will lead to cultural and social changes that transform the political behavior of a
country s citizens that can ultimately lead to democratic governments. Subsequently, the paper
moves to the empirical evidence supporting the modernization theory and critiquing the theory s
broader applicability. Some critics would suggest that certain types of economic development could
actually destabilize society, rather than progressing the cultural and social components that provide
the starting point for democratic societies. Meanwhile, others have advocated that wealth does not
explain the emergence of democracy, and that the likelihood that a country remains democratic is
higher in richer countries. Finally, it will look into future avenues in research on the correlation
between political development and modernization. Modernization theory refers to a set of
explanations that link economic development and social changes with the type of political regime
that emerges. As countries economically modernize, they shift from agricultural to industrial
societies. Industrialization results in

Individualism In Brave New World
COMMUNITY, IDENTITY, STABILITY is the motto the citizens of the World State adhere to. The
motto stresses the need for everyone to work together, and discourages individualism. Their society
believes that when an individual feels, the community reels , meaning when an individual begins to
feel real emotion, society behaves in a disorderly manner. When one longs to achieve happiness and
meaningfulness, they may abandon everything they know in the pursuit of discovering their
passion. In this pursuit one may encounter a cultural conflict that is hazardous to themselves and
society, thus creating disorder in the world in which they call their home. In Brave New World,

Ichabod Crane In Washington Irving s The Legend Of Sleepy...
The characterization of Ichabod Crane in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow written by Washington
Irving is used to further the story and without some of his major characteristics the ending of the
story would not have been possible. His aggressive nature, his inflated ego, his gullibility, and his
tendency towards misogyny are what make the story possible. The first trait of Ichabod that
influences the story is how aggressive he is. There are three moments in the story where his anger
is seen through, the first is when he is describing how he flogs his students (Von Frank, 161). In the
story he states that he does not take pleasure in beating his students; however, he usually targets the
stronger children in the class. His willingness to flog... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The town is primarily dominated by women. They have strict ways of doing things and Crane
does not conform to those rules. There seems to be an air of happiness around the disappearance
of Crane because of how he does not conform to the standards. His disappearance also place
Bones back into the order that Sleepy Hollow is in because he no longer had competition and
could marry Katarina; he would become a content old man that did not disturb the town any longer.
His disappearance put the town of Sleepy Hollow back into the natural order and control that it was
in. Irving wrote Crane to have a feminine side that contained the qualities that were seemingly poor
qualities. The way Crane treats the feminine qualities as a bad thing and that contributes to the
sense of relief that fills the town after he disappears (Plummer and Nelson,

Advice From Nel Gaiman Analysis
TAKING ADVICE FROM NEIL GAIMAN There is a multitude of advice I will receive as I make
my path in the career of art and these are just two two the many; When you start out on a career
in the arts you have no idea what you are doing (Gaiman, 2012). and If you have an idea of what
you want to make, what you were put here to do, then just go and do that (Gaiman, 2012). I
chose these pieces of advice from Gaiman s address because as a beginning artist, it is the advice I
have heard most from those with experience. The people I look up to and whose work I admire,
the people who have jobs in the field they want or a large following of people who support their
work all give the same advice. I feel that it is because once you get to that point in your career,
you have been in the exact same spot asking yourself, What should I do to get better? , and that is
to do what you want to do, even if you are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this essay, I will be applying this advice from Gaiman s speech to experiences in my own life,
as well as how this advice could assist an artist in improving. If you have an idea of what you
want to make, what you were put here to do, then just go and do that (Gaiman, 2012). In
accordance to my writing courses and courses in general that deal with writing at Ringling, I
believe this advice will aid me greatly. Mainly, because I tend to procrastinate things when I am not
keen on doing them or have no idea where to start. There have been countless times throughout my
time in school where a writing assignment has been due and I have turned it in at the last second,
spending the the day before that rushing and making sure it was up to standard. In these situations,
I found that,

What Makes A Wearable Health Technology Product That Our...
Being part of the extremely competitive and constantly evolving textiles, apparel luxury goods
industry requires us to constantly strive to be innovative. We must frequently analyze the market,
its trends, and all relevant information that can inform us of opportunities and threats that apply to
our industry (Textiles, Apparel Luxury Goods). This is especially important for us now as we have
lost the trust of many of our customers and our financial health is currently ranked as negative by
several reviewers such as the S P Capital IQ Quantitative Stock Report. Lululemon s previous
leaders decision to compromise quality and the numerous public disagreements surrounding how
the company should be run have led to confusion among our stakeholders and consumers. Recent
management changes have caused a further loss of trust amongst our customers. It is imperative
that we better our financial health and improve our customers perception of our company within the
next year. To help achieve both these objectives, our next big move should be to introduce a
wearable health technology product that our consumers can use to monitor their health and track
improvements in their fitness. Two factors are central to this proposal: (1) we understand that the
climate of our market and industry is extremely competitive and it is vitally important for us to
stand out by introducing an innovative and highly desirable product and (2) there currently is a
significant trend surrounding the use

Cost And Benefits Of Mitigation
The number one goal for emergency management professional is to save lives and prevention the

According to the article Benefit Cost Analysis of FEMA HazardMitigation Grants Valuation of
environmental damages, cultural and historical damages, and lives is conducted by converting
these nonmarket damages into dollars with the willingness to pay paradigm. The benefit of a

society are willing to pay to obtain an increment in wellbeing or avoid a decrement in wellbeing.
Willingness to pay is the theoretically correct measure of the economic benefits of a policy or

Why so few girls in the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math)? Women have always
been viewed as the weaker sex, and society will continue to view them that way unless they do
something about it. In the essay When Bright Girls Decide that Math is a Waste of time , the
author Susan Jacoby discusses the problems women steering clear of math and science subjects
because of the traditional view of a woman. She focused on what causes high school girls to focus
on arts courses instead of STEM courses and what are the effects of it on themselves. The
underlying discrimination amongst boys and girls, stereotypical thinking of parents and teachers
that girls are not good at math eventually decreases the self confidence among girls to solve science
and math problems.
Interestingly enough, there are many traditional and social reasons responsible for girls decision of
not getting involved in math and science. However, the main reason why females are behind in the
field of science and technology is Inflicted female disability i.e. turning themselves away from
studies. In adolescence, girls begin to fear that they will be unattractive to boys if they are typed as
brains (Susan 114). So, they try to keep themselves away from advanced biology, physics, calculus
and other studious subjects. Although we are in the 21st century and are the supporter of gender

The mid Atlantic ridge:
The mid Atlantic ridge runs like a spine along the ocean floor between the North and South Atlantic
Ocean. It is a constructive plate boundary where crust is created and not destroyed. In the north

Macbeth Moral Psychology Essay
The principles of one individual is different from moral code of someone else. Moral psychology
plays a role because the reality in life is that there are norms, especially societal norms, showing
different perceptions of what is good and what is evil (Taylor 1).
For instance, bad influences can alter the ego of a well rounded human being. As a result, his or her
standpoints can change the way he or she thinks. This alteration in personality is caused by the
environmental factors rather than biological factors. In other words, someone can plague the
psychological thoughts of another person. This is an implication that good and evil actions from
someone is not the result of heredity or decisions made by oneself (Taylor 1).
Greed is a major setback in Macbeth. In the beginning of this tragic play, Macbeth is initially the
most trusted nobleman of King Duncan. His role is to protect the king rather than killing him.
He originally does not want to murder King Duncan because he promoted Macbeth, who dislikes
the new position he was in after killing a traitor. The situational irony of it all is that Macbeth
becomes the new traitor. The driving force of his greed in power is his wife, Lady Macbeth. After
the success of the plan, he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Although this was a really big mistake, everybody makes mistakes, even Jackson. Andrew Jackson
had misinterpreted his orders and accidentally crossed the border, getting into trouble with Spain

Michael Faraday And The Chemistry World
For my term paper I have chosen to study the works of Michael Faraday, a very significant name
in the Chemistry world especially in understanding electrochemistry and electromagnetism. He had
a number of accomplishments over his career including writing a manual of practical chemistry,
discovered a large number of new organic compounds, as well as liquefying what was thought to
be a permanent solid. His largest discovery, and what I will be discussing in this paper is his
advancements in the world of electrochemistry He was at the forefront of producing electric
currents from a magnetic field, invented the first electric motor, was able to demonstrate how
electricity and chemical bonding connect, amongst and array of other accomplishments. Mr.
Michael Faradaywas born on September 22nd, 1791 in Newington Butts, Surrey (New London)
England. He was a child of James Faraday, a blacksmith from Yorkshire and Margaret Hastwell,
who worked around the house. He had three siblings (another born after him) and was born a few
months after they had moved to Newington Butts. His family was struggling when he was
younger due to his father s poor health condition but they stayed close together and attended
church; this gave them a sense of community and support behind them. Michael was able to attend
a day school where he had learned how to read, write, count, and do simple math. He did this until
he was 13 and then had to find work so he could help his family s financial issues. An

Immanuel Kant On Enlightenment
In 1784, Immanuel Kant states that Enlightenment is the human being s emergence from his self
incurred minority and the courage to utilize your own discernment.
Minority is inability to make habit of one s own understanding without guidance from another. This
minority is self incurred when its cause lies not in lack of reason but in lack of resolve and courage
to utilize it without guidance from another. Have courage to build habit of your own intellect! Is
therefore the motto of enlightenment. Kant draws a very profound argument by saying that
enlightenment may only be made through a proactive personal exploration of one s own opinions
away from the confines of social dogma.
According to Immanuel Kant, enlightenment is when a person arises

The Role Of Social Expectations Of A Role In A Social System
Concepts
RT classifies every individual as an actor that carries out a role (Kahn Fellows, 2013). Actors
perspective of social expectations leads them to formulate scripts for behaviors in a situation
outlining the actions of their role (Kahn Fellows, 2013; van der Horst, n.d). These social
expectations direct interactions with other actors of a group or system with the intention of
gaining rewards or avoiding consequences (Kahn Fellows, 2013). Each role within a social system
has a role set, specifically the many multiple relationships associated with a role (Kahn Fellows,
2013; McEwen Wills, 2010). For instance, a foster parent has a role set consisting of other foster
parents, biological parents of foster children, social workers, guardian ad litem, and ... Show more

People occupy more than one role at any given time in their daily lives, as a consequence, can
lead to role strain. Role strain is when the expectations of one role affect the role expectations of
another (Kahn Fellows, 2013; McEwen Wills, 2010). For example, a foster mother, who is also a
lawyer, has to take off from work to stay at home with a foster child who has been suspended
from school. The role strain in this example is the foster mother is not able to be in court to
carry out the role of a lawyer, because she is at home in the role of a foster mother. Unfortunately,
role strain can lead to role conflict. RT explains that role conflict occurs when the expectations of
one or more roles are not compatible with another role (Kahn Fellows, 2013;

Analysis Of Oppression By Jimmy Santiago Baca
In the poem Oppression by Jimmy Santiago Baca, the author gives readers an understanding of
oppression, its psychological impact upon endurance, and one s ability to seek emancipation.
Within the first stanza of the poem, Baca defines oppression as being trampled under and
expresses that those who endure oppression are human . Baca continues to explain that the act
oppression [i]s a question of strength of the oppressor, and a question of unshed tears of the
individual enduring oppression. In this stanza, the author is stating that oppression is a fight for
power in which the oppressor uses fear through the form of violence or terror to oppress
individuals, while the individuals being oppressed show their strength by remaining calm

Comparing Danny And Reuven In Chaim Potok s The Chosen
Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live, Your people will be my people, and
your God will be my God (NLT, Ruth 1:16). So said Ruth to her mother in law Naomi in one of
the most famous acts of friendship in the Bible. Two women from vastly different religious and
cultural backgrounds somehow formed a relationship that would not break, despite its hardships.
The same thing happened to two boys, Reuven and Danny, in Chaim Potoks novel, The Chosen.
Through an accident in a heated softball game, Reuven realizes that Danny is lonely, and with the
encouragement of his father, befriends him.. Reuven s committed, attentive and challenging
personality brings him close to Danny as both of them grow older.
Reuven s commitment first shows up in the first scene of the book, the softball game. Danny hits

If he hears something he does not agree with, he counters it, and this brings growth into his
friendships. It first happens when Reb Saunders makes his mistake in gematriya and Reuven,
despite severe misgivings, corrects him. Though it turned out to be a test, Reuven showed that he
was willing to contradict errors when he found them, and in the process won the respect of Reb
Saunders. In the Talmuddebates with Danny and his father, Reuven shows that he can and will
argue vehemently against points that he disagrees with. Though both of the Saunders know much
more about the Talmud than he does, Reuven can still keep up with them and add his own
contributions to the discussion every now and then. And when Danny starts reading books that
criticize his own faith, Reuven warns him not to believe everything he reads, and to talk about the
controversial books with someone who knows more about it. You ought to discuss it with my
father first, I told him, before you go believing any of that (114). Reuven s willingness to refute

Ancient Celtic Origins

Steppes of Western Asia, and the Western Fiords of Scandinavia. As these diverse people came
together in a hostile land, they learned to cooperate with one another, where over 8,000 years, they
mixed to form a northern Irish race unlike any other. They are the Cruithni (Picts) of Ireland. They
called themselves the Ulladd . They dominated Ireland s history for a thousand years, yet they

Compare And Contrast The Pardoner And Wife Of Bath s Tale
To eat or not to eat. In this battle of concocted tales, this is where it all boils down to. Both the
Pardoner and the Wife of Bath have surely produced fine stories, each with their own charm;
however, it will not be a battle without a clear winner only one can enjoy a free meal. Although the
Wife of Bath s Tale tapped into a strong topic genderequality it only stated that women want to be
equal to men as well, but never delved in deeper. The story even disregards the problem at hand:
a knight who raped a girl and got away scot free, even finding himself a beautiful and loyal wife.
If the story went differently, the Wife of Bath s Tale has all the components of a great story.
Meanwhile, the Pardoner s Tale , although short, successfully showed the corruptness that
humans have, as well as the consequences if ever one finds themselves stuck in greed s vice
grip. Therefore, the Pardoner s tale is better than the Wife of Bath s Tale because it delves into
the darkness of humanity, the consequences when one has dug themselves too deep and shows
how, despite people knowing the result of their misconduct, will still choose to sink further into
darkness. They were after an honourable cause at first, the three rioters, but as soon as their eyes
saw the yellow shimmer inside a bulging bag, they dropped everything and easily surrendered
their minds to greed. In lines 166 169, it states, No longer was it Death those fellows sought, for

When it comes to Abortion, Democrats, it a woman s right to choose and therefore be legal as to
Republicans, it should not be legal and the government should restrict it as such. When it comes to

The Social Shame Of Prostitutes
Prostitutes are again compared to dogs because of their societal shame except this time in the
New Testament. This occurs in the book of Revelation. Blessed are those who wash their robes,
so that they will have the right to the tree of life and may enter the city by the gates. Outside are
the dogs and sorcerers and fornicators and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and
practices falsehood. Revelation 22: 14 15. This verse alludes to the fact that prostitutes or
fornicators are lowly and wicked since they are compared to dogs. Another noteworthy point is
that they are also grouped together with other sinners including: sorcerers, murderers, and
idolaters and it is even written that these people love and practices falsehood . These are truly
wicked people as they literally love to practice their sins. These wicked people face damnation as
they are locked outside of Heaven but this point concerning damnation will be expanded upon
later in the essay. This verse is another example of the societal shame concerning prostitutes
because of their wickedness. I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral
persons not at all meaning the immoral of this world, or the greedy and robbers, or idolaters,
since you would then need to go out of the world. But now I am writing to you not to associate
with anyone who bears the name of brother or sister who is sexually immoral or greedy, or is an
idolater, reviler, drunkard, or robber. Do not even eat

What Effect Did Farming Have On American Life
Before there was farming people had to hunt for berries and animals. People knew that they had
to start finding ways to produce food. If they started making advanced tools it would help them

people would have to go far away from their home to find only little berries. Though they were

Effects Of Dementia On The Brain Essay
Reckless behavior early in life can affect the rest of your life dramatically. Whether it is drinking
too much, use of illegal drugs, or even just a simple vehicle accident, it can cause brain damage
which can lead to dementia. Dementia isn t necessarily a disease but rather terminology to describe
a set of symptoms. Severe impairment in intellectual capacity and personality, often due to damage
to the brain (Gazzaniga, Grison, Heatherton, 2015). In other words, dementia comes with an
inability to process surroundings, a difference in character, and, depending in severity, complete
memoryloss. This loss is because nerve cells in the parts of the brain that are responsible for
cognition, like the cerebellum (Molinari, 2002), have been damaged and can no longer function
normally. There are many types of dementia, such as, Alzheimer s, the most common, as well as
many others that differ in symptoms. Though many kinds of dementia normally end in pain,
suffering and often death, there is no cure. Dementia is a neurocognitive disorder that can affects
one s life drastically, because of memory loss, an inability to preform everyday activities, and
personality changes.
When diagnosing an individual with dementia, doctors perform a series of tests that evaluate their
cognition ability as well as taking a MRI scan of the brain. Doctors also follow DSM 5, Diagnostic
and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, guidelines. According to this manual dementia is

Of the many sorts of ethnic eateries in the United States, Italian eateries, including pizza chains,

causes to a great extent to poor foreigners from southern Italy, business visionaries who began little

The nourishments depended on home cooking, including pasta, a glue or batter thing made of wheat

Furthermore, even if management lacks the intention to sell, there remain events and circumstances
beyond the control of management that can force the need to sell. By measuring the changes in fair

net income. A distinct disadvantage to reporting the gains and losses on the income statement is
that these gains and losses have not actually occurred and may not ever be realized (Proposed

developed enough nor well defined. The board agreed and discarded the method early on in the
deliberations. Those who favor amortized cost claim that it avoids some of the temporary
fluctuations in net income. The arguments against amortized cost include: 1) It reflects an
irrelevant historical transaction price that is not useful in current investment decisions. 2) Use of
amortized cost depends on subjective impairment models that can be manipulated to smooth
earnings. With all things considered, the board decided that a change in fair value being shown in
net income is a more appropriate measurement for equity investments. The reasoning being that the

Investing in the securities market seems like a good idea until one day you ve lost all your money
and you re hitting your head against the wall wondering where you went wrong while High
Frequency Trading firms are racking up profits by shorting the stocks you thought were going to go
up. The contention behind High Frequency Trading arises from the idea that since the individuals
and companies who have access to these supercomputers that compute complex algorithms are able
to receive information on the markets before the average investor , they are playing the field and
making it uneven. The idea behind High Frequency Trading addresses many of the essential Human

and the human condition itself. High Frequency Trading should be eliminated from the financial
markets because it is unfair to the average investor, causes legal implications by shifting the market
to the advantage of certain firms, and lacks regulation necessary to promote an even playing field

Iran Blast To The Past
Iran, formerly known as Persia, is a country that has been molded by various events and traditions.
With their customs they have created a legal system that reflects ours here in the United States but
also keeps their religion and culture involved as well. From 1979 and on, after the monarchy was
abolished, Iranhas developed a strict criminal justice system. Their historical and political
background will be discussed, as well as their policing and court systems.
A Blast to the Past
As mentioned above, Iran was called Persia until 1935. In 1979, it became an Islamic Republic
after the revolution. Monarchy was also abolished during this time. Rewinding back to 550 BC,
Iranian empires were ruling locations such as Egypt, the Mediterranean and some places in Europe.
In AD 633, the Zoroastrian religion was replaced by Islam after the Arabs arrived. Bringing it back
to how they run the place now legally, it is based off of sacred law, which is called Islamic law.

trials was Not Guilty verdict of jury in K.M.Nanavati Vs. state of Maharashtra . The sessions Judge
disagreed the Jury opinion, in his view, no reasonable body of men could bring that verdict on the
evidence and referred the matter to the High Court under s. 307 of the Code of Criminal
Procedure. The two judges of the Division Bench who heard the matter agreed in holding that the
appellant was guilty under s. 302 of the Indian Penal Code and sentenced him to undergo
rigorous imprisonment for life. The judgement was affirmed in appeal by the Supreme Court of
India. This case then attracted much media attention. Stories were written about the innocence of
K.W.Nanavati and it was therefore said that Jury members were influenced by the media
coverage and without conducting any survey or research in this regard the entire jury system
was considered bad in law, and was factually abolished thereafter. With the coming into force of
new criminal procedure code of 1973 it was abolished by all means. In order to understand the
reasons for abolishing jury trial we need to go little back in time. The Jury trial was introduced in
India sometime in 1665 but thereafter no notable instances are

Batek Gender Differences Essay
One of the biggest fieldwork observations made by the Endicotts is the gender differences between
males and females in the Batek community, or lack thereof. Batek people choose to live in a
noncompetitive gender egalitarian community, which acknowledges the gender differences
between males and females, but does not believe the differences give either sex superiority over its
complimentary counterpart(25). This equality is something that makes gendera topic that the Batek
rarely address and is seen as almost irrelevant. In fact, until Batek children begin to show the first
signs of puberty, boys and girls are only called children rather than little boys or girls. It is not until
these sign begin to develop that they make the distinction between young men and... Show more

In addition, the Batek believe that the only difference between men and women is their physical
appearance and ability, but that they essentially share the same internal composition. Externally,
aside from reproductive anatomy, the Batek say that men are the ones with stronger breath, as in
having a higher lung capacity. This makes them better equipped for blowpipe hunting and allows
them to hunt larger game in the forest. Moreover, men are said to have more upper body strength
than the women, which they use to climb taller trees and chop down large trees. However,
although the men have a higher physical ability than the women when it comes to blowpipe
hunting, the women also blowpipe hunt for smaller prey, climb smaller trees and vines, and cut
down small trees(29). Internally, the Batek believe that the only significant difference between the
men and women was the smell of their blood. They believe that a woman s blood had a different
smell from man because of the diet the women held to while on their menstrual

Summary Of Pretty Vacant
As John ВЁSid Vicious Beverly, the bassist/ lead singer in the band the S x Pistols said,
Undermine their pompous authority, reject their moral standards, make anarchy, and disorder your
trademarks. Cause as much chaos and disruption as possible, but don t let them take you alive.
Beverly was a man who was against authorityhis whole life. He was part of an English pop punk
band that created songs such as God Save the Queen , which was about mocking the monarchy and
creating chaos on the Queen s silver jubilee, which is the 25th anniversary of her being on the
throne, and Pretty Vacant , which was about someone with just a pretty face, but an empty head. He
challenged authority through all aspects of his life, with his band against... Show more content on

T.J. is also described as a ВЁstocky, robust boyВЁ which means that he is a strong boy, with a big
body type who is very healthy. By including these words that describe T.J. as strong and healthy, the
author could have been showing that the gang of boys on the roof are sickly or weak. T.J doesnВґt
know that he is different, all he knows is that is normal to himself, and that the gang of boys on
the roof are the weird ones. He also stands out because he doesn t know the ways of the city like
the other boys do. T.J. talks about his acre of corn and cotton that he could tend to and take care
of, while the other boys are really confused on what T.J. is talking about. The narrator talks about
T.J. in that he is ВЁstrange and different and [the boys are] all attracted by his stolid sense of
rightness and belonging, maybe by the strange softness of his voice contrasting [their] own tones of
speech into harshnessВЁ(101). Here, T.J. is talking about his farm and is captivating the gangВґs
imagination. T.J. even talks different from the gang, with his quiet tones and his ВЁsoftnessВЁ in
his voice, possibly meaning that he has a Southern drawl. With his different way of speaking, he
contrasts with the harsh city words and speak, and makes the boys all wonder who he really is.
They all want to gain the unique sense that he belongs anywhere and that he can do anything.
At this point, T.J. has the boys enthralled by his stories, and they

  • 3. Modernization And Development Towards Democracy This research paper uncovers the study of modernization and how it correlates to political development towards democracy. First, it examines the development and origins of the modernization theory that encompass a number of explanations that connect economic, social and cultural changes with shifts in political systems. Modernization puts forth the idea that economic development will lead to cultural and social changes that transform the political behavior of a country s citizens that can ultimately lead to democratic governments. Subsequently, the paper moves to the empirical evidence supporting the modernization theory and critiquing the theory s broader applicability. Some critics would suggest that certain types of economic development could actually destabilize society, rather than progressing the cultural and social components that provide the starting point for democratic societies. Meanwhile, others have advocated that wealth does not explain the emergence of democracy, and that the likelihood that a country remains democratic is higher in richer countries. Finally, it will look into future avenues in research on the correlation between political development and modernization. Modernization theory refers to a set of explanations that link economic development and social changes with the type of political regime that emerges. The characterization of Ichabod Crane in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow written by Washington Irving is used to further the story and without some of his major characteristics the ending of the story would not have been possible. His aggressive nature, his inflated ego, his gullibility, and his tendency towards misogyny are what make the story possible. The first trait of Ichabod that influences the story is how aggressive he is. There are three moments in the story where his anger is seen through, the first is when he is describing how he flogs his students (Von Frank, 161). In the story he states that he does not take pleasure in beating his students; however, he usually targets the stronger children in the class. His willingness to flog... They have strict ways of doing things and Crane does not conform to those rules. Being part of the extremely competitive and constantly evolving textiles, apparel luxury goods industry requires us to constantly strive to be innovative. We must frequently analyze the market, its trends, and all relevant information that can inform us of opportunities and threats that apply to our industry (Textiles, Apparel Luxury Goods). This is especially important for us now as we have lost the trust of many of our customers and our financial health is currently ranked as negative by several reviewers such as the S P Capital IQ Quantitative Stock Report. Lululemon s previous leaders decision to compromise quality and the numerous public disagreements surrounding how the company should be run have led to confusion among our stakeholders and consumers. Recent management changes have caused a further loss of trust amongst our customers. It is imperative that we better our financial health and improve our customers perception of our company within the next year. To help achieve both these objectives, our next big move should be to introduce a wearable health technology product that our consumers can use to monitor their health and track improvements in their fitness. Two factors are central to this proposal: (1) we understand that the climate of our market and industry is extremely competitive and it is vitally important for us to stand out by introducing an innovative and highly desirable product and (2) there currently is a significant trend surrounding the use ... She focused on what causes high school girls to focus on arts courses instead of STEM courses and what are the effects of it on themselves. The underlying discrimination amongst boys and girls, stereotypical thinking of parents and teachers that girls are not good at math eventually decreases the self confidence among girls to solve science and math problems. • 29. Compare And Contrast The Pardoner And Wife Of Bath s Tale To eat or not to eat. In this battle of concocted tales, this is where it all boils down to. Both the Pardoner and the Wife of Bath have surely produced fine stories, each with their own charm; however, it will not be a battle without a clear winner only one can enjoy a free meal. Although the Wife of Bath s Tale tapped into a strong topic genderequality it only stated that women want to be equal to men as well, but never delved in deeper. The story even disregards the problem at hand: a knight who raped a girl and got away scot free, even finding himself a beautiful and loyal wife. If the story went differently, the Wife of Bath s Tale has all the components of a great story. Meanwhile, the Pardoner s Tale , although short, successfully showed the corruptness that humans have, as well as the consequences if ever one finds themselves stuck in greed s vice grip. Therefore, the Pardoner s tale is better than the Wife of Bath s Tale because it delves into the darkness of humanity, the consequences when one has dug themselves too deep and shows how, despite people knowing the result of their misconduct, will still choose to sink further into darkness. They were after an honourable cause at first, the three rioters, but as soon as their eyes saw the yellow shimmer inside a bulging bag, they dropped everything and easily surrendered their minds to greed. Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they will have the right to the tree of life and may enter the city by the gates. Outside are the dogs and sorcerers and fornicators and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood. Revelation 22: 14 15. This verse alludes to the fact that prostitutes or fornicators are lowly and wicked since they are compared to dogs. Another noteworthy point is that they are also grouped together with other sinners including: sorcerers, murderers, and idolaters and it is even written that these people love and practices falsehood . These are truly wicked people as they literally love to practice their sins. These wicked people face damnation as they are locked outside of Heaven but this point concerning damnation will be expanded upon later in the essay.
