The Practice Of The Eucharist
Part A
1. The practice of the Eucharist in the Catholic Church is usually called the Liturgy of the Eucharist,
Holy Communion or the Lords supper. The Eucharist usually occurs near the end of the mass, firstly it
begins with the preparation of the gifts and the altar, and once this has been done volunteers of the
community bring forward the bread and the wine to the Priest at the Altar. Then the priest blesses the
bread and wine. After that the priest breaks the bread and says Take this all of you and eat it this is my
body which will be given up for you he holds up the chalice of wine and says Take this all of you and
drink from it for this is my blood which has been given up for you . The Priest then places the gifts on
the altar in sacrifice, and volunteers then come up to the altar and takes the gifts to share with the
community. Initially the Eucharist is ended with the Prayer after Communion which is asked for us to
remember the Eucharist throughout our day.
2. The nature and meaning of the Eucharist is quite significant in the Catholic Church. The Eucharist
for Catholics was an inspiration from the bible mainly from the passage of the Last Supper Jesus
shared with his disciples.. For Catholics they usually receive Eucharist during Mass, for Catholics the
Eucharist is a symbol of Jesus body and blood (bread and wine). For Catholics the Eucharist is a main
sacrament which is based around Catholics daily lives, the Eucharist is a reminder of Jesus and a

Bitter And Sweet Relationships
Relationships are a critical part in the everyday lives of humans. People create relationships with
others, whether they realize it or not. Some bonds are different than others. Hateful, happy, or grateful
may be a type of bond you have with another peer. There also could be a lack of relationships between
two or more people. Having a lacking relationship with a parent may impact a kids life and how they
parent their own kids. There are many different types of relationships for a variety of reasons in the
novel later introduced. What caused some of these relationships to differ were race, war, and racial
discrimination. In the novel, Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, by Jamie Ford, the bonds that

When Leadership And Policy Making Collide
When Leadership and Policy Making Collide Purpose of the Study Effective leadership is a must in
any employment, especially in the school system. Principals must be very attentive at all times. Safe
schools and a positive environment will enhance any student learning ability. Administration work
very hard to help students stay on track in a positive manner. A single problem can lead to school
disruptions and hurt the students learning environment. One principal experienced firsthand, how
effective leadership makes a difference during school uniform policy implementation. Dress is a word
that is roughly shielded as a custom of free speech under the first amendment of the Constitution. The
higher courts acknowledged the position that schools reflect on the American people. In today s
society most states have laws which authorize schools to regulate dress code as long as it is connected
to school environment or school safety. Superintendent and school principals has a tremendous task of
making sure these provisions are followed by students and staff. How was the Study Conducted? The
study was conducted in a rural school district at Valley View Middle School. The district population is
29, 235 students. Population comprise of 75.3% Caucasian, 21.6% African American, 3.1% Hispanic,
and the remaining 2% are Asian, American Indian, or more than one race. The annual student parent
income is $41, 154.00. At least 19.3% of student s parent lives below poverty level. Valley View

How Did Louis Pasteur Saved France
Shortly after Pasteur s discovery, he made an even greater impact but on the economy of France in the
mid nineteenth century instead. During the mid 1850s, Louis Pasteur lived in Lille, a region inhabited
by vinegar makers, brewers, and wine producers. It was no surprise that Pasteur gradually developed a
great interest in the science of fermentation. During the early 1860s, manufacturers of wine and
vinegar were confused as to why the fermentation process suddenly stopped prematurely. When this
occurred it was common for the liquid to turn sour, leaving it useless for the producers and consumers,
and resulted in massive financial loss to the manufacturers. In 1862, Pasteur began experimenting to
find the cause of this problematic occurrence. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He discovered that yeast cells were actually living microorganisms and were the main characters in
the process of fermentation. He found that although yeast helped the liquid to ferment, another
microorganism was ceasing this process. Louis Pasteur also discovered the reason for why thousands
of gallons of wine was gradually becoming sour and figured out a solution as well. He discovered by
putting it through a pasteurization process, the wine would not spoil but instead return back to its once
pleasant taste and texture. By making these discoveries, Louis Pasteur saved France millions of francs,
years of time, and thousands of gallons of resources. He prevented a major aspect of France s
economy from collapsing: their wine, beer, and vinegar industries. He also saved a cultural factor of
France as well. During the nineteenth century, wine had become a daily part of the lives of the people
of France. It was drunk at heartrending times and content times. Wine was drunk at celebrations and
funerals, and wine was even found at the dinner table every night. It became a part of France s culture
and through his findings, he prevented that from being lost. By being the brilliant scientist that he is
and by his hard work and determination to help the country that he loves, Louis Pasteur made a vital
impact on the economic and cultural aspect of

How Did Operation Barbarossa Invade Russia
1941: Operation Barbarossa
Russia tried to avoid war with Germany at the start of World War II, but this changed on June 22,
1941. Operation Barbarossa joined Russia into the World War II. This was the largest German military
attack, and unfortunately for the Russians, a very well planned operation. Operation Barbarossa s
name originated from the Holy Roman emperor, Fredrick Barbarossa, who set out to conquer the Holy
Land. This name was completely appropriate since the goal of Operation Barbarossa was to capture
the capitol of Russia, Moscow. Operation Barbarossa was an attack by the Germans to join Russia into
the war with Germany.
The plan of Operation Barbarossa started in July of 1940. Hitler decided he wanted to make an attack
on Russia. He saw a threat to his oil supply in Romania who was one of Germany s allies. Hitler
signed the first order of Barbarossa on December 18, 1940. Germany was breaking a non aggression
pact with Russia on August 23, 1939 with this operation. Although, it wasn t just Germany who was
paranoid; Russia was also suspicious of Germany. Germany s bold idea of attacking Russia wasn t just
to take over Russian territory, but destroy the Red Army (Soviet army) with large battles and
enormous amounts of demolition.
After much strategy and months of preparation, Germany invaded Russia on June 22, 1941. Germany
was well prepared with three separate army division in the North, South, and Central areas of Russia s
eastern border. Germany had about three

Women s Role In Terrorism
A large part of the literature review thus concentrated on the definition and characteristics of modern
terrorism. However, since terrorist group s present singularity and uniqueness in their characteristics,
is it even possible to reach consensus on the definition and the meaning of the word? Globalization
has affected the interpretation of the word terrorism by changing the face of these organizations.
Quantitatively and qualitatively, changes occurred in terrorist organizations over the last decades, and
one of them is the increasing involvement of women in their structures. From contextual pressure to
individual motivations, the increase of female involved in terrorist organizations and activities result
from a conjunction of several interrelated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Historically, women s role has been more pronounced in left wing groups. While women roles in left
wing groups tend to be equal with male members, left wing groups are also more likely to act
domestically. In Inside Terrorism Bruce Hoffman explains that terrorist activities of ethno separatist
groups, both then and now, tend to be less international in scope . In early modern terrorism, the
involvement of women is usually referred as female militancy. There was a strong presence of women
in several of the most active left wing terrorist groups. Cindy D. Ness suggests that women have
tended to be more active as leaders and members of groups to overturn traditional values rather than to
restore the old ones. The very nature of left wing groups is more disposed to justify and advocate in
favor of women assuming leadership and operational positions. Non traditional roles and the overturn
of traditional societies is fundamental in the case of left wing groups. Left wing groups advocated for
a radical break with the past, and women involvement as leaders was the first step toward an overturn
of traditions. The Japanese Red Army (JRA) was founded in 1969 and led by Fusako Shigenobu until
her arrest in Japan in 2000. In conflict with both state and society, the JRA has been active in different
regions of the world (Japan; Southeast Asia; Middle East) and has conducted international attacks
successfully. Revolutionary movements in Latin America have historically involved women in their
ranks. Karla J. Cunningham found that female membership within the Revolutionary Armed Forces of
Colombia (FARC) vary from 20 to 40 percent with a general average of 30 percent. Originally, at
frontline roles, women have progressively access to intelligence gathering and frontline operational
roles. Inside the Shining Path Peru organizations, 50 percent of the

Dangerous Injuries Caused by Playing Baseball Essay
According to a famous baseball coach, Baseball is not a contact sport, but contact with a ball, bat, or
another player result s in the most serious injuries (Yenko). Jayne Yenko is correct, a point that needs
emphasizing since so many people believe that injuries can happen anyway. there are three types of
baseball players: Those who make it happen, those who watch it happen and those who wonder what
happens (Tommy Lasorda). Baseball has been my favorite sport all my life, therefore I would like to

Symptoms associated with a UCL injury include the following: pain on the inside of the elbow, a
sense of looseness or instability elbow, decreased ability to throw a baseball or other object. (Tommy).
Rarely do UCL injuries interfere with non throwing activities, such as: activities of daily living,
exercising, lifting weights, batting in baseball or running (Tommy). Some players are usually first
treated with conservative (non surgical) therapies. These therapies include: rest, ice and non steroidal
anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) (Tommy). However, when rest and physical therapy are
unsuccessful in treating shoulder pain or if an injury is discovered on MRI, surgical treatment may be
needed (Baseball). Do you know that, each year nearly 6 out of 10 young pitchers hurt their elbow

activity that causes or increases the pain (Baseball Players). However, the University of North

Similarities Between Splendor And Triumph
Many of us have heard of problems with Carnival Cruises in recent years. A major incident happened
in 2010 when an engine fire aboard Carnival Splendor caused the ship to be stranded 200 miles off the
coast of California. Since then, many Carnival cruises have faced similar issues. Carnival Triumph had
a fire on board in February of 2013. Then, in March of the same year, Carnival Legend had problems
with increasing their ship s speed. There are always risks when going on a cruise, but could Carnival
have avoided the problems that happened? There are many similarities between the Splendor and
Triumph incidents. Both ships had a fire on board that damaged important parts. The engineers on
Splendor were able to control the fire, but back up

Hypnic Jerk Essay
You re lying on the bed, and you re almost falling asleep. Suddenly, you have a feeling of falling from
the rooftop of a skyscraper straight to the ground, and your legs twitch. We are familiar with this
felling because we all have the experience during our sleep sometimes. Hypnic jerk, which is also
known as sleep twitch, is not a sleep disorder; instead, it is a common and natural body reaction in
sleep hours. with some research suggesting that 60 to 70 percent of people experience them (Castro).
Although psychologists and scientists still don t discover the exact causes of hypnic jerk, they have
already proposed some hypothesis about how hypnic jerk occur during sleep. The first hypothesis is
that over exercising or working out around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The hypnagogic jerk represents the side effects of a hidden battle for control in the brain that happens
each night on the cusp between wakefulness and dreams, according to Stafford. There is a network of
cells lies below the cortex called the reticular activating system that governs basic physiological
functions that keeps us awake. This system also considered as the motor system. There is a
contradictory system named VLPO, and this system locates near the optic nerve and governs
sleepiness. In REM (Rapid Eye Movement), which is a sleep phase, the body muscles are in paralysis.
Stafford s theory is that the reticular activating system struggles with VLPO when a person enters
REM. He suggests that if the reticular activating system takes over VLPO as REM sets in, the
remaining daytime energy bursts out and leads to some random muscles movements. In other words,
hypnic jerks are the last gasps of normal daytime motor control (Stafford). No matter what the exact
causes of hypnic jerk are, we don t need to consider the twitch as a sleep disorder and to be afraid of
it. As many researchers says, it is a normal physiological phenomenon, after

Intro Paragraph hook: Background: Ever since we have been humans, blindness has been a problem. It
has grown over time and gotten to be massive problem is a person s everyday life.
Thesis: Blindness is a problem because most cases of blindness can be avoided, it s increasing
tremendously, technology isn t made for the blind, learning has to be altered, and it s expensive.
First Body Paragraph
Blindness is a problem because most of the time it can t be avoided. Although most people think that
most cases of blindness can be avoided, but that s not true. This is proven in an article posted by

Second Body Paragraph
Blindness is a problem because blindness cases are suppose to increase tremendously. In a research
led by Rohit Varma, M.D., director of the University of Southern California s Roski Eye Institute. The
number of people with visual impairment or blindness in the United States is expected to double to
more than 8 million by 2050. Also found in the research led by Rohit Varma, M.D., they found the
number of people with legal blindness will increase by 21 percent each decade to 2 million by 2050.
The number of blindness cases are suppose to rise extremely. More and more people are going to be
blind, which means more and more of the population is going to be affected by blindness. There are
going to be tons of people affected by blindness, making blindness are big problem. Although most
people don t believe that blindness is increasing, they actually believe that blindness is decreasing. But
that s not true because Varma was able to show that blindness is in fact actually increasing through
research.
Along with cases increasing, blindness is also a problem because technology is hard for blind people
to use.

The Women s Rights Movement Essay
Women leaders are evolving in today s society more than ever before. For a while, men had always
been at the forefront when it came to leadership, however women have really stepped up and began
taking on a lot of leadership roles. It s ironic that a woman actually raises a male to be that of a leader;
however women didn t get viewed the same as the male. In 1948 The Women s Rights Movement
brought upon red flags and women began to questions why they didn t get the same educational as
well as professional opportunities as males. Lots of women began to speak out because they were not
going to tolerate the inequality against them any longer. There was definitely a change that took place
which allowed women to have the same opportunities as males. One woman in particular by the name
Meg Whitman really took advantage of this great opportunity. She s the perfect example of what
leadership is all about.
Meg Whitman is the President and chief executive officer of Hewlett Packard Co. She was born on
August 4, 1956 in Cold Spring Harbor, Long Island, New York. Whitman definitely has her hands in a
lot of different areas surrounding business. Her father worked on Wall Street while her mom enjoyed
the amenities of being a stay at home mother. Growing up, Whitman was full of confidence and she
bestowed a great sense of intelligence. In 1974 she graduated from high school in just three years. She

God Is Dead, By Friedrich Nietzsche
God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him. (Gay Science, 126) This harsh statement
remains among Friedrich Nietzsche s most powerful and disturbing quotes, spoken by a proclaimed
Madman to a crowd of disbelievers. After making this claim, the Madman becomes horrified by his
audience s ignorance, noting that This tremendous event is still on its way. This has an effect of
suspending the Madman s message in time, expanding its audience infinitely, for the event of God s
death could still be on its way. Therefore, nearly 150 years after these words were written, we must
ask ourselves, does God remain dead, and has our modern society killed him? This is a haunting and
disturbing question, but in many ways our society does resemble Nietzsche s masses. However, it also
resembles the Madman himself, due to its inherent individualism.
To investigate these similarities, we must first define what Nietzsche means by God. If our modern
society is seen as an immoral world, and God as morality, then again yes, we have effectually killed
God. However, it may be a mistake to think God and Morality entirely synonymous. In Beyond Good
and Evil, Nietzsche states, Morality is the herd instinct of the individual, () implying that, since
morality preserves the abhorrent mass rather than the sainted individual, it is weakness, a reaction
rather than a choice. But in the Madman s tale, God is not described as a reaction, but as a victim. The
mass is shamed by the individual

Research Paper On London Tower
The London Tower is a magnificent work of architecture that has lasted hundreds of years. From
somewhat humble beginnings as a mere base of operations to keep the locals in check, it expanded to
the most secure place in London, housing the Crown Jewels and important documents of state. The
Tower of London has a dark history, though. Countless tales of prisoners being captured and
interrogated through less than civil means call the Tower home. There are also accounts of murders, or
speculated ones, as well, taking place within its walls. The most interesting one, in my opinion, is the
Tale of the Two Princes. It recounts two young boys in line for the throne being under their uncle s
care at the Tower, before that uncle is made the new heir

Rhetorical Analysis: Why Are All the Cartoon Mothers Dead?
For many Disney stories, as noted by Carolyn Dever, character development begins in the space of the
missing mother. The reason behind why the death of mothers is beneficial to character development,
may be an unknown fixture of fiction so deeply embedded into the animation world that it has become
somewhat of a mystery. In the article Why Are All The Cartoon Mothers Dead , Sarah boxer makes
the claim that patriarchy and misogyny are to blame for the absence of maternal figures in animation.
She questions if the absence of mothers is not an accidental fixture but rather an unconscious effort to
create a world where men benefit from motherless children due to womb envy. ... Show more content

Boxer mentions a challenge by cartoonist Alison Bechdel issued to the film industry with her test. She
says, show me a movie with at least two women in it who talk to each other about something besides a
man and show me a kids movie that has a named mother in it who lives until the credits roll and
although as expected not many movies pass the test, there are still a few exceptions to the rule which
often come as a shock to Boxer. She makes the bold statement that The ineluctable regularity of the
dead mother, fun father pattern is not just womb envy at work, and not just an aggression against the
breast; it s Mickey s glove displacing the maternal teat. It s misogyny made cute. It is clear based on
the evidence provided throughout the article that this is indeed true. Disney film writers have
somehow managed to create a world in which mothers are dead and female characters are either not
needed or dependent on a male character to accomplish a goal. The funny part about these movies
glorifying men is that, in reality, as proven by stats mentioned by Sarah Boxer, only 8% of households
with kids are headed by a single father, half of which live with their partners, in comparison to the
25% headed by single mothers and 67% headed by both parents. So, as Boxer says, the fantasy of the
fabulous single father that s being served up in a theater

Into Thin Air, by Jon Krakauer Essay
In the novel Into Thin Air, the author Jon Krakauer shows us two characters who have some
similarities, yet are markedly different. Rob Hall and Scott Fischer are both world renowned mountain
climbers as well as the leaders and head guides of their own mountain climbing enterprises. Each
employ the respect of his peers, yet here is where the similarities end. With differences in their
physical stature, climbing styles, and safety concerns, it would seem that one was destined to succeed
and other to fail. Krakauer describes Hall as being a thirty five year old man standing at six foot three

recklessness is for the young, such is not the case with Scott Fischer. Fischer, in stark contrast to Hall,
was a man of forty with a very athletic build. Fischer was very passionate about climbing and had a
strong desire to be the best yet his approach to climbing was reckless with little respect for his own
welfare. Krakauer writes, If the name of Hall s business, Adventure Consultants, mirrored his
methodical, fastidious approach to climbing, Mountain Madness was an even more accurate reflection
of Scott s personal style. By his early twenties, he had developed a reputation for a harrowing, damn
the torpedoes approach to ascent (62). Like Hall, Fischer had prior successful climbs, although on
many occasions he had some climbing mishaps which could have cost him his life. Fischer did not
have the flair for publicity like Hall creating the inability to gain many sponsorships in his climbing
career. Like Hall, Fischer also climbed the summit of Mt. Everest but never as a guide. When Fischer

The Life of Artemisia Gentileschi, Baroque Painter Essay
The Life of Artemisia Gentileschi p Artemisia Gentileschi is believed to have been born around 1593
and died around 1652. nbsp; Both dates are disputed to the current day. nbsp; She was one of five
children and was born into the life of an artist. nbsp; Her father, who was an artist as well, loved her
greatly. nbsp; Her mother died when she was twelve. nbsp;Artemisia was always a skilled painter, but
her father wanted even more for her daughter. nbsp; While her works were already amazing for her
age, she needed artistic guidance in order to further her skills. nbsp; One man who was hired as a tutor
was named Agostino Tossi. nbsp;Tossi almost immediately was an annoying presence in the house

paintings, at this point in her life, become drastically different. nbsp;In about 1612, she paints the first
of five works of Judith and Holoferness. nbsp; The gory scene shows Holoferness, an Assyrian general
being beheaded by Judith, a Jewish widow. nbsp; The scene shows ample amount of blood, however, it
does not feel like a room of murder. nbsp; The killing of Holoferness by Judith is done in order to
protect her homeland and life. nbsp; Also, she prays to god in order to give her the strength to do the
killing. nbsp; Therefore, she felt it was justifiable. nbsp;It is a rare message for the early 1600 s in that
it is the woman avenging a man. nbsp; The powerful scene nbsp;of nbsp; It seems that Artemisia paints
these works in order to avenge her own suffering from Tossi as well as the justice system. nbsp;By

Summary Of Fashion Design By Cristbal Balenciaga
Cristóbal Balenciaga was a fashion designer who always wanted to trial different styles. To lead him
the route in which he would then outline an altogether novel outfit and it is this origination that the
Victoria and Albert Museum have opted to concentrate on this orderly constructed exhibition.
The exhibition is closely structured around three sections: Front of House looks at Balenciaga s
salons, Workrooms uncovers what happens behind the scenes, and Balenciaga s Legacy examines the
impact he has had on other major fashion brands.
From start to finish, the show focuses on the most minor subtle elements that made Balenciaga s
fashion. The designer was never reluctant to be striking as far as style and praising procedure as
opposed to style. Cristóbal Balenciaga s work was so true to modernity and femininity. Innovative and
inviting, his work is always inspiring .
The show uncovers this was a creator who needed to guarantee that each component of his creations
was impeccable, required with each and every progression in making the ideal outfit. If there was the
smallest mistake, he would have torn a design apart and started again in order to keep in full control,
something that had influenced other designers who appreciated his work including Hubert de
Givenchy.

The Execution Of Willie Trottie
Introduction All countries on the planet either have capital punishment or have had it at one time. The
death penalty is utilized as a part of most cases to rebuff the individuals who infringed upon the laws
or models that were anticipated from them. Executions basically infuse more brutality into an
officially antagonistic American culture. This paper will discuss the execution of Willie Trottie . Willie
Trottie Willie Trottie, black, poor, abandoned at a young age by an alcoholic mother, and victim of
abuse started dating Barbara Canada in 1989 and and soon thereafter began living together and had a
child. In September 1992, Willie and Barbara separated and she moved in with her family. After some
time, the relationship soured. Willie ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of his subsequent appeals in state and federal court were denied. Willie Trottie was executed by
lethal injection on September 10, 2014 for the murders of Barbara and Titus Canada. Willie asked for
forgiveness serval times before he was executed. His final words were I love you all; I m going home,
going to be with the Lord. Find it in your hearts to forgive me. I m sorry. As the lethal dose of the
powerful sedative pentobarbital took effect, he closed his eyes and breathed quietly. After about eight
breaths, he opened his mouth to exhale, and then closed it. Why Death? A life sentence is sufficient
deterrent, and many would argue more so than the death penalty. There is no evidence that countries
that still apply the death penalty have lower crime rates, in fact the opposite seems to be true with the
US. The greatest deterrent in crime is the fear of getting caught, not the resultant punishment. If
criminals knew that they would get caught and would have to spend a long time in a prison that would
make them think twice. If they can be confident that they won t get caught, even though the
punishment is a death sentence, some would take the chance. Countries with effective criminal justice
systems, catching people early before they descend into worse and worse offending have the lowest
crime, not contries with the harshest penalties. Willie Trottie is a case in point. As a society we will do
better to learn about him, what he did, what

Essay On The Space Race
There is only so much you can explore on Earth, Space is infinite. The Space Race was a historical
competition between the Soviet Union and the United States for the first humans to reach the moon.
Taking place during 1957 1975, the Space Race showcased the determination between the two nations
to display who had the superior science and technology knowledge. After the Russians created the first
satellite, the United States felt threatened that the Soviet Union would have military control over space
and began to race against their rivals. The money spent on the space race was a legitimate use of
government funds because it showed the world which country had the best technology and science,

around 2,750 civilian deaths; one single V 2 rocket that landed on a Woolworth s store killed 160
Londoners. (The Space Race) With the advancement of rocket technology from the Space Race, the
U.S and Soviets military were able to make weapons of destruction that could kill thousands of people
and could not be shot down due to how new they were and the little knowledge from around the world
about them. Although military advancements were a very important reason why the Space Race was
worth funding, space exploration was also very important.
Lastly, space exploration. The Space Race kickstarted the exploration of space. While rushing to get
an American on the Moon, we learned much about the technicalities of space. While working on the
competition, Eisenhower created NASA, which is still around and alive today That same year,
President Dwight Eisenhower signed a public order creating the National Aeronautics and Space

What It Means To Be A Feminist Struggle For Women
One major problem in society is the confusion about what feminists stand for. I believe that this issue
is of utmost importance, and it is imperative that people continue to be educated about equality.
Teaching people what it actually means to be a feminist is of utmost importance to me. In other words,
I feel it is my duty to clear up misunderstandings about what feminists all over the world are actually
fighting for.
A common misconception of the movement is that feminists believe that women are better than men.
However, the definition of feminism is the advocacy of women s rights on the grounds of political,
social, and economic equality to men. Feminists are fighting to be granted the same rights and
opportunities as men, not to be granted rights and opportunities that surpass those of men.
As a result of the previously stated misconception, the belief that men should not be feminists is often
seen in society. A feminist is someone who believes in equality between the sexes men included.
Having been wrongly informed about the definition of feminism, some men feel as if it would be
wrong for them to be called a feminist because of what the term suggests. It would prove difficult for a
man to share his beliefs concerning equality if he was under the impression that feminists fight for the
idea ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The biggest steps that need to be taken to solve these is issues are: helping people be more
comfortable about voicing their opinions on gender equality and educating people on what it means to
be a feminist. For our society to continue evolving, gender equality is something that needs to be
present. More people will openly support feminism if they know what it actually means not just what
society has wrongly labeled it. All of the efforts of the feminists who came before us will have been in
vain if people do not continue to be informed about what feminism and gender equality

Crystal Research Paper
Crystal Research Paper
A crystal is made up of the same materials that a regular glass is made of, such as silica, soda, and
lime, but the addition of lead oxide is what gives crystals their shine. A bead has to have 24% lead
oxide added to qualify as leaded crystal. Contrary to the popular belief, crystals have been around for
a long time. Ancient Egypt, Rome, and other groups have all used crystals for various purposes. It was
used in medicine, magic and rituals, as offerings and currency, as well as important gifts and items of

Generally, heterogeneous nucleation takes place more quickly since the foreign particles act as a place
or structure for the crystal to grow on. Heterogeneous nucleation is slower and can take place by
several methods. Some of the most typical are small inclusions, or cuts, in the container the crystal is
being grown on. (Dr. Helmenstine, A. M. 2011) After nucleation has taken place, then the second stage
is growth. The growth stage is when the crystals actually start to form. The solute molecule in the
solution will be attracted to the protocrystal until more and more molecules bond together and then the
crystal starts to grow until it is a fully formed crystal. Concluding, a crystal has two stages after
supersaturation takes place, nucleation and growth. During these two stages is when the growth and
size of a crystal is determined.
A seed crystal is a common method people use to grow crystals; seed crystal is categorized under
assisted nucleation, so the process of growing a crystal becomes faster. A seed crystal is created by
supersaturation (Banfield, J., amp; Wallace, H. c. 2002). When the supersaturated solution has cooled
down, seed crystals form at the bottom of the solution (Thackwray, M. 2003). After a crystal seed is
formed, it is used to grow a crystal. The crystal seed is tied to a string. Then the crystal seed is

Iceberg Theory In Hemingway s Hills Like White Elephants
Ernest Miller Hemingway is known for his unique style and theories of writing, especially the iceberg
theory. In the Death of the Afternoon, Hemingway says that The dignity of movement of an ice berg is
due to only one eighth of it being above water. A writer who omits things because he does not know
them only makes hollow places in his writing. (92) Simple words, vivid images, rich emotions and
deep thoughts are the four basic elements of the iceberg theory. Talk about how these stories illustrate
four elements of theory. In both short stories, Hemingway describes scenery and characters with
simple words directly to give readers a vivid image. Under this sketch, readers can know characters
emotion and get the theme through their imagination and analysis. First, Hemingway uses concise
words to describe characters and scenery to show a vivid image. Readers can image by themselves
through description to analyze characters emotions. In Hills Like White Elephants , Hemingway
describes characters little. This short story basically consists of a dialogue between a man and a
woman. In the short story, Hemingway barely provides the information of characters so that this short
story can be generalized in one sentence: a man and a woman are waiting for the train to Madrid on
the roadside. Because of the hot weather, they keep drinking beer, while discussing an operation.
Actually, in this novel, characters are always talking about this vital operation. This operation exists as

How Does Luis Valdez Present Social Injustice In Zoot Suit
Zoot Suit is a play, written by Luis Valdez, based on the Sleepy Lagoon murders and the Zoot Suit
riots of the nineteen forties. In this play, Valdez embodies Chicano culture and social injustice. Upon
reading the play, it is very apparent that the main source of injustice is institutional racism and it is
shown in the court scenes of this play. It starts with the Opening of the Trial (Act I,Scene 9) and in this
it proves that the court itself has already set up Henry and the gang for failure. They failed to show
any human decency in which they did not allow the boys to wear clean clothes or even fix their hair.

Its starts with the press. The press was an important symbol of racism in which they would report and
paint their own image of pachucos in order to criminalize them to the public. In this case, Valdez
cleverly uses the press character as the prosecutor as well. In this scene, the press is setting up Della to
self incriminating questions by connecting the boys to weapons that were never found at the crime
scene and trying to coerce her answers into sounding like confessions. Of course the judge was no
help because he was against the pachucos from the start, in fact in this scene it reveals that even their
lawyer knew that they were going to lose. In the end, it was the prosecution s concluding statement
that defined this as a racist trial. The prosecutor says it himself, the specific details of this murder are
irrelevant before the overwhelming danger of the pachuco in our midst (62). On a trial about murder it
is very odd to hear that the specific details are irrelevant and it proves that this trial is more than what
it is. They are not on trial for what they could have done, they are on trial for what they might do
because in their perspectives; rapists, drug abusers, or violent gang members is all a Mexican can

by Sir Conan Doyle (1859 1930).(please find the exact amount needs to be hard fact) Doyle used
inspirations from his reality to help strengthen his description of the fictional detective series of
Sherlock Holmes. The author used actual descriptions, mostly of late Victorian London. Experiences
from the accurate time period made Holmes s stories come to reality.
Author Ignatius Conan Doyle was born on May 22 1859, in Edinburgh, Scotland. Conan Doyle s
father is Charles Doyle, an alcoholic who would spend much of his later life in a metal institution.
Charles married Mary Foley Doyle, daughter of an Irish doctor, described as attractive, lively teacher.
She loved literature and according to biographer Andrew Lycett, beguiled her children with story

Taking a Look at Organic Farming
In recent years, there has been a huge conversion by farmers from conventional to organic farming
due to the increased demand by consumers for products that are produced with fewer synthetic
chemicals and hormones. The Center for American Progress estimated an increase of approximately
17 billion dollars from 23 billion dollars in 2002 to 40 billion dollars in 2006 (Center for Progress,
2008). As opposed to conventional farming, which uses chemical fertilizers, pesticide sprays, and
herbicides, organic farming requires that farmers comply with the regulations and standards set by the
United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) such as requiring the crops be produced and handled
without synthetic, prohibited non synthetic, and non agricultural substances and ingredients as well as
unapproved vaccines, ionizing radiation, and sewage sludge (USDA Code of Federal Regulations).
Table 1 includes a list of what practices are permitted in conventional and organic farming as
stipulated by the USDA.
The objective of this analysis is to firstly look at the sustainability, which is defined in this report
using the Environmental Protection Agency s definition which is the creation and maintenance of
conditions under which human and nature can exist in productive harmony, that permit fulfilling the
social, economic and other requirements of present and future generations (EPA), of the production

Blower Motor Problems on GM Vehicles

In an effort to increase the efficiency of the climate control systems General Motors has experimented

You can jump 12 V to the positive side of the motor and it should run. I recommend that you leave it
fully installed when you run this test because the spinning squirrel cage can cause injury. If the blower
motor works it s time to check some voltages at the module.
There s a power wire that comes from the control panel. On most models it s either red or purple. This
power in wire should turn on a test light with the ignition on and maximum speed selected. The black
wire should indicate a strong ground. If you have a good ground and verified power into the module,
yet have no electricity flowing to the blower motor you probably have a bad module.
In many cases when I find the problem with the GM blower motor module I also find signs of
moisture in the heater case that contains the motor and module. If the AC condensation drain becomes
blocked you ll wind up with water flowing into the HVAC case. The blower motor module is close to
being the low point and will wind up sitting in a bath of water.
If you wind up replacing this part go the extra step and make sure that the condensation drain is clear
on your AC evaporator. Also make sure your old blower motor spins freely and isn t starting to bind. I
have some final thoughts on the blower motor module failure situation. In an effort to streamline the
manufacturing process and keep costs down these parts are in a tremendous amount

Sailing across the great waters, the St. Joseph currently housed three nuns of the Augustinian order
and three from the Ursuline order with a small number of priests. These were the remaining from the
original twenty four who set sail from Normandy in April, 1639.
Sister Agatha had prepared for this journey by studying under Mother Superior in the hospital. She
had an aptitude for identifying diseases.
As the ship glided towards the dock, Sister Agatha saw men in various attire. Most striking were the
men standing stoic wearing animal skins. These must be the Natives they were taught so much about.

Forgetting about small smiles, Sister Agatha went outside immediately with a large smile on her face
showing the men all was well.
Taking a few confident steps towards her, the Native man raised his right arm and motioned for her to
follow him. Though she had no idea what his intentions were, she trusted him and did as he wished.
Following him down the path to the river, where she would have expected to cross the river now stood
a beautifully constructed bridge. On the simple rails were carvings of men carrying their dead and
behind them Sister Agatha.
She turned to look at the man who motioned his hands towards the entire bridge and pointed to her.

The Gvpd Incident
After spending time thinking about the incident that took place on Thursday, August 25, I found there
were many things that I wish I would have done differently that I started to take for granted after being
an RA for a year. First, I just assumed that the residents would know it would not be okay to drink
openly in front of us even though we were not technically their RA s anymore. We should have asked
before hand if they had plans on drinking that night and if so, ask if they could please wait until we
leave. Secondly, since we had no idea of their plans at the time we should have instantly left as soon
as we first saw the alcohol rather than be nice and say bye to each of them. Lastly, the incident took
place so fast, I wish we would have had Officer Barns make us blow through the Breathalyzer just to
confirm the fact that we weren t drinking, but it when he told us to leave right away we just did as told
and left right away. I wish we had the opportunity to live the night over again, because if we did, I
know for a fact we would not have be in the apartment when GVPD showed up. Since the incident, I
have definitely been more mellow as far as just hanging out in my room and not wanting to even take
the risk of going out on the weekends, not even out to the bars, now that I m 21. After the incident

If for some reason an RA were to bring that up I think they would have to hear he whole story to
understand the circumstances. There is a huge difference between drinking with residence and being
caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. That being said when enforcing the RA contract it is also
important that HRL doesn t just use a one size fits all type of approach to discipline because similar to
a duty situation, every single type of incident is completely different and needs to be looked at on an

Compare and Contrast how Cocaine, Ecstasy, Heroin and Cannabis Work in the Brain
Drugs of abuse, such as cocaine, ecstasy, heroin and cannabis, are of natural or synthetic origin, which
can alter the emotional state, perception, body functioning and behaviour of an individual. Drugs are
known to work in the brain by activating certain brain circuits via different mechanisms, and stimulate
or inhibit different neurons in the pathway. However, due to the effects of each drug being different, a
drug will affect either different pathways and neurons in the brain to that of another, or through a
different process, i.e. direct or indirect activity. This essay will discuss the different mechanisms of
action that cocaine, ecstasy, heroin and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cocaine, on the other hand, has been found to have a profound effect on increased dopamine activity.
Kennedy Hanbauer (1983; cited in Karch, 2007) found a strong correlation between cocaine binding
and the inhibition of dopamine uptake, and therefore proposed that dopamine transporters are binding
sites for cocaine. Such research, which correlates strong reinforcing properties of cocaine with
inhibition of dopamine transporters, suggests that cocaine has a more significant affect upon
dopamine, than than it has upon serotonin and noradrenaline. The excessive role of dopamine can
explain the high degree of pleasure that users of cocaine experience, as well as depression and
cravings, which follow.
In contrast to ecstasy and cocaine, which increase the secretion of natural neurotransmitters by
blocking transporters, direct agonists imitate natural endogenous neuromediators and bind to their
receptors. Heroin and cannabis are both examples of direct agonists.
Many regions of the brain contain cannabinoid receptors, of which anandamide molecules, concerned
with regulating mood, appetite and emotions, naturally bind to. Cannabis contains an active ingredient
known as delta 9 tetrahydrocannabonic (THC), and when smoked or eaten, the THC imitates the
activity of anandamide by binding to cannabinoid receptors on nerve cells, and therefore influences

Baz Luhrman s Moulin Rouge Moulin Rouge was Baz Luhrman s next great success after his

Superimposed images in the mise en scene portray an early twentieth century theme emulating the

A sweeping shot through the streets of the city establishes a times and place. The sepia colour and

The story is structured in a non linear narrative which is established when Christians character is

Essay about Profit Center
The TallTree2 Hotel Casino is a 640 room resort complex featuring a full range of Nevada style
gaming with slot machines and table games. Besides the hotel and casino, it also operates four
restaurants, two entertainment showrooms and three gift shops. Because of the economic environment
at the time, TallTree2 wanted to improve its bottom line by launching a range of Special Events like
golf tournaments, boxing matches, New Year Parties and a series of pit, keno and slot tournaments.
Those special events were specifically designed to compensate for the slow periods and generate
additional gaming revenues.

The company is decentralized and each department is a responsibility center. A responsibility center is
a division of a company for which a manager has the authority to make decisions. The main types of
responsibility centers are cost centers and profit centers.
A cost center is a division of a company that is responsible for the keeping the costs as low as
possible. Cost centers contribute to a company s profitability indirectly like marketing, customer
service or research and development.
A profit center is a division of the company that is accounted for on a standalone basis for the purpose
of profit calculation. The managers of those profit centers have the decision making authority related
to product or service pricing and operating expenses. Therefore, the profit center is responsible for
making its own earnings.
The goal is to reorganize the allocation of costs so that each segment is profitable. The special events
target high rollers and should bring more money that they currently bring.
The Casino department should still be run as a profit center. Gambling is the largest source of revenue
for the hotel casino complex. The department manager controls the revenues by offering special
promotions and complimentary food, beverages and rooms in times of slow periods. The manager is
not only responsible for the profit generated but also for the costs.

Compare Contrast Mary Rowlandson and Olaudah Equiano Essay
There are various things that make up a piece of literature. For example: choice of diction, modes of
discourse, and figurative language. Mary Rowlandson and Olaudah Equiano were great examples of
authors that used these elements of literature. There are similarities and differences in A Narrative of
the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson and From Africa to America. Though Mary
Rowlandson and Olaudah Equiano shared similarities in experiences, they had different writing
personalities, purposes, attitudes, tones, and relations with their communities. There are four main
modes of discourse: expository, narrative, descriptive, and persuasive. In Mary Rowlandson s A

Both narratives are similar in the experiences the two authors possessed. Both Mary Rowlandson and
Olaudah Equiano were held captive at a time in their lives. White men captured Olaudah Equiano,
while Mary Rowlandson had Indian captivators. Olaudah s story tells of the time where he first saw
the slave ship he was put on and the journey across great waters to the new world. Rowlandson s story
tells of the apathy of the Indians and her stay with the tribe. It is apparent that the journey across the
sea was horrible enough for the ship s passengers to commit suicide by jumping off of the ship rather
than staying on board with the putrid smell of human wastes and lack of ventilation. In a brief
paragraph, Equiano wrote of his daily routine before his captivity. He mentioned the relationship he
had with his mother, and how he was her favorite child. I became, of course, the greatest favorite with
my mother and was always with her. (72) Olaudah and Mary were alike because Olaudah had a great
relationship with his mother while Mary was fond of her own child in her narrative. About two hours
in the night, my sweet babe like a lamb departed this life; I must and could lie down next to my dead
babe, side by side all the night after. (2) Neither Olaudah Equiano nor Mary Rowlandson ended their
stories with the family members they were most fond of. Equiano s captivity was the reason why he
was stripped from his mother while Rowlandson s baby died during her

Essay On Christmas Tree Fires
Tis the season for Christmas trees to take their annual places in our homes. And as we all know,
Christmas trees are meant to be cheery, not charred. However, that s not always the case.

How Gentrification Is Damaging Neighborhoods
Gentrification is damaging neighborhoods because it forcibly displaces the lower income residents on
the streets to make room for luxurious more expensive apartments. The term gentrification means to
conform to middle class taste, which is exactly what is happening to places like the Mission District,
Placita Olvera Street, East Los Angeles, and many more urban areas. Not only are our neighborhoods
being gentrified, but also so is our food.
Culture vulture, as defined in Urban Dictionary, means Someone who steals traits, language and/or
fashion from another ethnic or social group in order to create their own identity. In urban and poor
neighborhoods you now see newer condos, stores, and restaurants. Great deals of middle to high
income people think that they are helping our hoods, and making them safer. There are few hoods that
can be improved, but not with rent increase. The residents who live in these urban hoods already
moved there because of cheap rent, so to raise cost on them because hipsters want to steal their culture
is wrong. Theses hoods are not being made safer and nicer, they are being white washed. When
hipsters see a place that would look aesthetically pleasing for them to live, they give their own
personalization to something that did not ask to be changed.
Most of these lower income residents are not only supporting themselves, but their families as well,
whereas, the younger and healthier hipsters are only supporting themselves. Rent increase in one of

The views on young people in modern America was progressively changing. American teenagers
looked beyond the family for fulfilment and took a step back from the activities they used to take part
in with their families. The point of teen movements during the 1960s was to challenge authority and to
push the boundaries. This applied to all aspects of culture and society. The main group contributing to
the movement was older teenagers and young adults. They were thought to be the fashion setters and

The Eucharist usually occurs near the end of the mass, firstly it begins with the preparation of the gifts and the altar, and once this has been done volunteers of the community bring forward the bread and the wine to the Priest at the Altar. Principals must be very attentive at all times. Safe schools and a positive environment will enhance any student learning ability. Administration work very hard to help students stay on track in a positive manner. A single problem can lead to school disruptions and hurt the students learning environment. One principal experienced firsthand, how effective leadership makes a difference during school uniform policy implementation. Dress is a word that is roughly shielded as a custom of free speech under the first amendment of the Constitution. The higher courts acknowledged the position that schools reflect on the American people. In today s society most states have laws which authorize schools to regulate dress code as long as it is connected to school environment or school safety. Superintendent and school principals has a tremendous task of making sure these provisions are followed by students and staff. How was the Study Conducted? The study was conducted in a rural school district at Valley View Middle School. The district population is 29, 235 students. • 6. How Did Louis Pasteur Saved France Shortly after Pasteur s discovery, he made an even greater impact but on the economy of France in the mid nineteenth century instead. During the mid 1850s, Louis Pasteur lived in Lille, a region inhabited by vinegar makers, brewers, and wine producers. It was no surprise that Pasteur gradually developed a great interest in the science of fermentation. During the early 1860s, manufacturers of wine and vinegar were confused as to why the fermentation process suddenly stopped prematurely. When this occurred it was common for the liquid to turn sour, leaving it useless for the producers and consumers, and resulted in massive financial loss to the manufacturers. In 1862, Pasteur began experimenting to find the cause of this problematic occurrence. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He discovered that yeast cells were actually living microorganisms and were the main characters in the process of fermentation. He found that although yeast helped the liquid to ferment, another microorganism was ceasing this process. Louis Pasteur also discovered the reason for why thousands of gallons of wine was gradually becoming sour and figured out a solution as well. He discovered by putting it through a pasteurization process, the wine would not spoil but instead return back to its once pleasant taste and texture. By making these discoveries, Louis Pasteur saved France millions of francs, years of time, and thousands of gallons of resources. He prevented a major aspect of France s economy from collapsing: their wine, beer, and vinegar industries. He also saved a cultural factor of France as well. During the nineteenth century, wine had become a daily part of the lives of the people of France. It was drunk at heartrending times and content times. Wine was drunk at celebrations and funerals, and wine was even found at the dinner table every night. It became a part of France s culture and through his findings, he prevented that from being lost. By being the brilliant scientist that he is and by his hard work and determination to help the country that he loves, Louis Pasteur made a vital impact on the economic and cultural aspect of ... • 7. How Did Operation Barbarossa Invade Russia 1941: Operation Barbarossa Russia tried to avoid war with Germany at the start of World War II, but this changed on June 22, 1941. Operation Barbarossa joined Russia into the World War II. This was the largest German military attack, and unfortunately for the Russians, a very well planned operation. Operation Barbarossa s name originated from the Holy Roman emperor, Fredrick Barbarossa, who set out to conquer the Holy Land. This name was completely appropriate since the goal of Operation Barbarossa was to capture the capitol of Russia, Moscow. Operation Barbarossa was an attack by the Germans to join Russia into the war with Germany. The plan of Operation Barbarossa started in July of 1940. Hitler decided he wanted to make an attack on Russia. He saw a threat to his oil supply in Romania who was one of Germany s allies. Hitler signed the first order of Barbarossa on December 18, 1940. Germany was breaking a non aggression pact with Russia on August 23, 1939 with this operation. Although, it wasn t just Germany who was paranoid; Russia was also suspicious of Germany. Germany s bold idea of attacking Russia wasn t just to take over Russian territory, but destroy the Red Army (Soviet army) with large battles and enormous amounts of demolition. After much strategy and months of preparation, Germany invaded Russia on June 22, 1941. Germany was well prepared with three separate army division in the North, South, and Central areas of Russia s eastern border. Germany had about three ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, since terrorist group s present singularity and uniqueness in their characteristics, is it even possible to reach consensus on the definition and the meaning of the word? Globalization has affected the interpretation of the word terrorism by changing the face of these organizations. Quantitatively and qualitatively, changes occurred in terrorist organizations over the last decades, and one of them is the increasing involvement of women in their structures. From contextual pressure to individual motivations, the increase of female involved in terrorist organizations and activities result from a conjunction of several interrelated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Historically, women s role has been more pronounced in left wing groups. While women roles in left wing groups tend to be equal with male members, left wing groups are also more likely to act domestically. In Inside Terrorism Bruce Hoffman explains that terrorist activities of ethno separatist groups, both then and now, tend to be less international in scope . In early modern terrorism, the involvement of women is usually referred as female militancy. There was a strong presence of women in several of the most active left wing terrorist groups. Cindy D. Ness suggests that women have tended to be more active as leaders and members of groups to overturn traditional values rather than to restore the old ones. The very nature of left wing groups is more disposed to justify and advocate in favor of women assuming leadership and operational positions. Non traditional roles and the overturn of traditional societies is fundamental in the case of left wing groups. Left wing groups advocated for a radical break with the past, and women involvement as leaders was the first step toward an overturn of traditions. The Japanese Red Army (JRA) was founded in 1969 and led by Fusako Shigenobu until her arrest in Japan in 2000. In conflict with both state and society, the JRA has been active in different regions of the world (Japan; Southeast Asia; Middle East) and has conducted international attacks successfully. Revolutionary movements in Latin America have historically involved women in their ranks. Karla J. Cunningham found that female membership within the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) vary from 20 to 40 percent with a general average of 30 percent. Originally, at frontline roles, women have progressively access to intelligence gathering and frontline operational roles. Inside the Shining Path Peru organizations, 50 percent of the ... Jayne Yenko is correct, a point that needs emphasizing since so many people believe that injuries can happen anyway. there are three types of baseball players: Those who make it happen, those who watch it happen and those who wonder what happens (Tommy Lasorda). Some players are usually first treated with conservative (non surgical) therapies. These therapies include: rest, ice and non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) (Tommy). However, when rest and physical therapy are unsuccessful in treating shoulder pain or if an injury is discovered on MRI, surgical treatment may be needed (Baseball). Do you know that, each year nearly 6 out of 10 young pitchers hurt their elbow (Understanding). Suddenly, you have a feeling of falling from the rooftop of a skyscraper straight to the ground, and your legs twitch. We are familiar with this felling because we all have the experience during our sleep sometimes. Hypnic jerk, which is also known as sleep twitch, is not a sleep disorder; instead, it is a common and natural body reaction in sleep hours. with some research suggesting that 60 to 70 percent of people experience them (Castro). Although psychologists and scientists still don t discover the exact causes of hypnic jerk, they have already proposed some hypothesis about how hypnic jerk occur during sleep. The hypnagogic jerk represents the side effects of a hidden battle for control in the brain that happens each night on the cusp between wakefulness and dreams, according to Stafford. There is a network of cells lies below the cortex called the reticular activating system that governs basic physiological functions that keeps us awake. This system also considered as the motor system. There is a contradictory system named VLPO, and this system locates near the optic nerve and governs sleepiness. In REM (Rapid Eye Movement), which is a sleep phase, the body muscles are in paralysis. Stafford s theory is that the reticular activating system struggles with VLPO when a person enters REM. He suggests that if the reticular activating system takes over VLPO as REM sets in, the remaining daytime energy bursts out and leads to some random muscles movements. In other words, hypnic jerks are the last gasps of normal daytime motor control (Stafford). No matter what the exact causes of hypnic jerk are, we don t need to consider the twitch as a sleep disorder and to be afraid of it. For a while, men had always been at the forefront when it came to leadership, however women have really stepped up and began taking on a lot of leadership roles. It s ironic that a woman actually raises a male to be that of a leader; however women didn t get viewed the same as the male. In 1948 The Women s Rights Movement brought upon red flags and women began to questions why they didn t get the same educational as well as professional opportunities as males. Lots of women began to speak out because they were not going to tolerate the inequality against them any longer. There was definitely a change that took place which allowed women to have the same opportunities as males. One woman in particular by the name Meg Whitman really took advantage of this great opportunity. She s the perfect example of what leadership is all about. Meg Whitman is the President and chief executive officer of Hewlett Packard Co. She was born on August 4, 1956 in Cold Spring Harbor, Long Island, New York. Having strong problem solving skills is what it took Louie and Phil to survive the troubles of beings trapped at sea. The two and Mac faced many challenges and all of them dealt with it differently. They supported each other by communicating and sharing all the food. Support 1: Louie, Phil, and Mac did something many of us would believe to be a nightmare. They were trapped in the Pacific ocean for 47 days with no food and water. The hardest obstacles they faced were finding water and keeping their sanity. This is shown in the text when Louie instead of allowing large pools of water to gather, he began continuously sucking the captured water into his mouth, then spitting ... • 17. God Is Dead, By Friedrich Nietzsche God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him. (Gay Science, 126) This harsh statement remains among Friedrich Nietzsche s most powerful and disturbing quotes, spoken by a proclaimed Madman to a crowd of disbelievers. After making this claim, the Madman becomes horrified by his audience s ignorance, noting that This tremendous event is still on its way. This has an effect of suspending the Madman s message in time, expanding its audience infinitely, for the event of God s death could still be on its way. Therefore, nearly 150 years after these words were written, we must ask ourselves, does God remain dead, and has our modern society killed him? This is a haunting and disturbing question, but in many ways our society does resemble Nietzsche s masses. However, it also resembles the Madman himself, due to its inherent individualism. To investigate these similarities, we must first define what Nietzsche means by God. If our modern society is seen as an immoral world, and God as morality, then again yes, we have effectually killed God. However, it may be a mistake to think God and Morality entirely synonymous. In Beyond Good and Evil, Nietzsche states, Morality is the herd instinct of the individual, () implying that, since morality preserves the abhorrent mass rather than the sainted individual, it is weakness, a reaction rather than a choice. But in the Madman s tale, God is not described as a reaction, but as a victim. The mass is shamed by the individual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. Research Paper On London Tower The London Tower is a magnificent work of architecture that has lasted hundreds of years. From somewhat humble beginnings as a mere base of operations to keep the locals in check, it expanded to the most secure place in London, housing the Crown Jewels and important documents of state. The Tower of London has a dark history, though. Countless tales of prisoners being captured and interrogated through less than civil means call the Tower home. There are also accounts of murders, or speculated ones, as well, taking place within its walls. The most interesting one, in my opinion, is the Tale of the Two Princes. It recounts two young boys in line for the throne being under their uncle s care at the Tower, before that uncle is made the new heir ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. Rhetorical Analysis Of Why Are All The Cartoon Mothers ... Rhetorical Analysis: Why Are All the Cartoon Mothers Dead? For many Disney stories, as noted by Carolyn Dever, character development begins in the space of the missing mother. The reason behind why the death of mothers is beneficial to character development, may be an unknown fixture of fiction so deeply embedded into the animation world that it has become somewhat of a mystery. In the article Why Are All The Cartoon Mothers Dead , Sarah boxer makes the claim that patriarchy and misogyny are to blame for the absence of maternal figures in animation. She questions if the absence of mothers is not an accidental fixture but rather an unconscious effort to create a world where men benefit from motherless children due to womb envy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Boxer mentions a challenge by cartoonist Alison Bechdel issued to the film industry with her test. She says, show me a movie with at least two women in it who talk to each other about something besides a man and show me a kids movie that has a named mother in it who lives until the credits roll and although as expected not many movies pass the test, there are still a few exceptions to the rule which often come as a shock to Boxer. She makes the bold statement that The ineluctable regularity of the dead mother, fun father pattern is not just womb envy at work, and not just an aggression against the breast; it s Mickey s glove displacing the maternal teat. It s misogyny made cute. It is clear based on the evidence provided throughout the article that this is indeed true. Disney film writers have somehow managed to create a world in which mothers are dead and female characters are either not needed or dependent on a male character to accomplish a goal. The funny part about these movies glorifying men is that, in reality, as proven by stats mentioned by Sarah Boxer, only 8% of households with kids are headed by a single father, half of which live with their partners, in comparison to the 25% headed by single mothers and 67% headed by both parents. So, as Boxer says, the fantasy of the fabulous single father that s being served up in a theater ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While most people would agree that wisdom comes with age and recklessness is for the young, such is not the case with Scott Fischer. Fischer, in stark contrast to Hall, was a man of forty with a very athletic build. Fischer was very passionate about climbing and had a strong desire to be the best yet his approach to climbing was reckless with little respect for his own welfare. Krakauer writes, If the name of Hall s business, Adventure Consultants, mirrored his methodical, fastidious approach to climbing, Mountain Madness was an even more accurate reflection of Scott s personal style. By his early twenties, he had developed a reputation for a harrowing, damn the torpedoes approach to ascent (62). As the lethal dose of the powerful sedative pentobarbital took effect, he closed his eyes and breathed quietly. After about eight breaths, he opened his mouth to exhale, and then closed it. Why Death? A life sentence is sufficient deterrent, and many would argue more so than the death penalty. There is no evidence that countries that still apply the death penalty have lower crime rates, in fact the opposite seems to be true with the US. The greatest deterrent in crime is the fear of getting caught, not the resultant punishment. If criminals knew that they would get caught and would have to spend a long time in a prison that would make them think twice. If they can be confident that they won t get caught, even though the punishment is a death sentence, some would take the chance. Countries with effective criminal justice systems, catching people early before they descend into worse and worse offending have the lowest crime, not contries with the harshest penalties. I believe that this issue is of utmost importance, and it is imperative that people continue to be educated about equality. Teaching people what it actually means to be a feminist is of utmost importance to me. In other words, I feel it is my duty to clear up misunderstandings about what feminists all over the world are actually fighting for. A common misconception of the movement is that feminists believe that women are better than men. Taking a Look at Organic Farming In recent years, there has been a huge conversion by farmers from conventional to organic farming due to the increased demand by consumers for products that are produced with fewer synthetic chemicals and hormones. The Center for American Progress estimated an increase of approximately 17 billion dollars from 23 billion dollars in 2002 to 40 billion dollars in 2006 (Center for Progress, 2008). As opposed to conventional farming, which uses chemical fertilizers, pesticide sprays, and herbicides, organic farming requires that farmers comply with the regulations and standards set by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) such as requiring the crops be produced and handled without synthetic, prohibited non synthetic, and non agricultural substances and ingredients as well as unapproved vaccines, ionizing radiation, and sewage sludge (USDA Code of Federal Regulations). Table 1 includes a list of what practices are permitted in conventional and organic farming as stipulated by the USDA. The objective of this analysis is to firstly look at the sustainability, which is defined in this report using the Environmental Protection Agency s definition which is the creation and maintenance of conditions under which human and nature can exist in productive harmony, that permit fulfilling the social, economic and other requirements of present and future generations (EPA), of the production and cultivation or crops under organic practices, excluding the handling of livestock, ... This power in wire should turn on a test light with the ignition on and maximum speed selected. The black wire should indicate a strong ground. If you have a good ground and verified power into the module, yet have no electricity flowing to the blower motor you probably have a bad module. In many cases when I find the problem with the GM blower motor module I also find signs of moisture in the heater case that contains the motor and module. If the AC condensation drain becomes blocked you ll wind up with water flowing into the HVAC case. The blower motor module is close to being the low point and will wind up sitting in a bath of water. She had an aptitude for identifying diseases. As the ship glided towards the dock, Sister Agatha saw men in various attire. Most striking were the men standing stoic wearing animal skins. We should have asked before hand if they had plans on drinking that night and if so, ask if they could please wait until we leave. Cocaine, on the other hand, has been found to have a profound effect on increased dopamine activity. Kennedy Hanbauer (1983; cited in Karch, 2007) found a strong correlation between cocaine binding and the inhibition of dopamine uptake, and therefore proposed that dopamine transporters are binding sites for cocaine. Such research, which correlates strong reinforcing properties of cocaine with inhibition of dopamine transporters, suggests that cocaine has a more significant affect upon dopamine, than than it has upon serotonin and noradrenaline. The excessive role of dopamine can explain the high degree of pleasure that users of cocaine experience, as well as depression and cravings, which follow. In contrast to ecstasy and cocaine, which increase the secretion of natural neurotransmitters by blocking transporters, direct agonists imitate natural endogenous neuromediators and bind to their receptors. Heroin and cannabis are both examples of direct agonists. Many regions of the brain contain cannabinoid receptors, of which anandamide molecules, concerned with regulating mood, appetite and emotions, naturally bind to. Cannabis contains an active ingredient known as delta 9 tetrahydrocannabonic (THC), and when smoked or eaten, the THC imitates the activity of anandamide by binding to cannabinoid receptors on nerve cells, and therefore influences ...
