The First Time Of The Second Time
For this essay I compared the first time I went to Massachusetts compare to the second time. The first
time was when I was 15 years old, the second time was when I was 19. When I was in 7th grade I met
my lifelong friend Caitlin. We did almost everything together. If you saw one of us the other was close
behind. When I was 13 years old, she and her family moved to Massachusetts. Both of these
experiences were completely different. I will talk about the pros and cons of both of the trips.
The first time I went to Massachusetts I went for an entire week I was only 15 years old my
grandparents drove me to York County and then I was picked up by Caitlin s parents and brought to
their house in Marlboro, Massachusetts. We had a lot of fun, but because of our age, we were limited
to what we could do. We couldn t go to the store by yourself. We couldn t go to the mall by yourself.
We couldn t do much other than go for walks that the place is only a mile away. Caitlin got me hooked
on Monster when I was up there so I had seven in one week and ended up going home with a UTI, and
my hair blonde when I was trying to make it light brown. When I was there it was hard because
Caitlin s mom was always telling her she needs to clean she need to watch her siblings, she needed to
do everything that her mom said and we spend the entire vacation cleaning and doing work that her
mom wanted. Those were all the cons. The pros of the trip was that I got to see her and got to spend

The Career As An Educator
A career as an educator is a highly rewarding and equally challenging position, a teacher is not only
responsible for the academic success of their pupils but the social development as well, this is
especially true as a second language teacher. It is through my own experience as a student and a
prospective teacher that I ve developed my own beliefs and philosophy about teaching. I believe that
there are certain things that can t be compromised or short sold for example, classroom environment
and the needs of the learner. There does however, need to be a certain level of flexibility both with the
teacher and the techniques and methodologies employed. There are many attributes that make an
effective teacher, some include; creativity, compassion, and leadership. These qualities coupled with
knowledge of the material and language learning experience can fortify learning for the students.
Through the course of this semester many approaches and techniques have been discussed, elaboration
on their benefits and uses and how to utilize them best in a language learning setting have been
highlighted. Through the presentation of all the information it seems that no single approach or
technique can satisfy the needs of every learner, and that the most pertinent message to teachers is to
know what the needs of your students are individually, and cater lessons for those needs using a
variety of techniques. That being said I will discuss some approaches and techniques that I found the

Why Did Shakespeare Chose To Modernize Hamlet
Looking at the chose that were given the play that I would chose to modernize would have to be
William Shakespeare s Hamlet. The main focus or image would be on the fact that he lost his father in
the most ruthless way and his mother was married away. If it was up to me I would place this story in
the heart of Detroit. With all this kind of drama that happens in Detroit, Michigan in the heart of the
Motor City this would be right in the spot. The set would be simple it would be in the gallows of
Detroit between 6 mile and 7 mile near Woodward Avenue. The new and modernized play would be
throughout the city of detroit. The plot would be based around a family in the Motor City that had a
mother and a father that split and went their separate

Keirsey Personality Types
Please Understand Me II by David Keirsey offers an in depth look into the Keirsey personality types.
For the INTJ, this book serves as a helpful and insightful guide to better understand oneself and
others; the INTJ can also utilize this text to better emphasize and interact with various types of people.
The INTJ s general temperament is a Rational or a NT. Rationals are logical, contemplative, and
inquiring people (Keirsey, 1998, p. 164). They want to understand everything, and this mindset often
makes them appear uninterested and detached from others. Despite this external appearance, Rationals
do care, but they must intentionally focus in order to show their care to others. Overall, NTs are the
world s problem solvers who will happily spend ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For NTs, unity in systems is a two sided matter (Keirsey, 1998, p. 170). Rationals arrange their world
through order and organization. Order determines what things are higher or lower and before and after
each other. A Rational could be compared to a sociologist who is trying for figure out the hierarchy
and roles of individual parts of a group. Organization helps NTs understand the parts of a complex
system rather than levels and ranks. Rationals strive to make sense of disordered systems by ranking
and arranging things into categories and

Hard Rock Cafe Case Study
Q1.Identify the strategy changes that have taken place at Hard Rock Café since its founding in 1971.
The first Hard Rock Cafe opened its doors to the public on June 14, 1971, in London, England.
Founded by Isaac Tigrett and Peter Morton, two enterprising and music loving Americans, beginning
with a guitar, it is only a joke among the friends at first, later on founder of the band Cream and Derek
the Dominoes sent a guitar of his here, and has booked a desk for a long time. From then on, the other

The 10 decisions of Operation Management are: Service and Product Design; Quality; Process and
Capacity Design; Location; Layout Design; Human Resource; Supply Chain Management; Inventory;
Scheduling; Maintenance. Hard Rock is bringing the concept of the experience economy to its cafe
operation. This innovation is somewhat akin to mass customization in manufacturing. At Hard Rock,
the experience concept is to provide not only a custom meal from the menu, but a dining event that
includes a unique visual and sound experience not duplicated anywhere in the world.
Here, we first discuss the Product Design and Quality: When Hard Rock Cafe is founded, first rate,
but moderately priced casual American fare, warm service and ever present rock n roll music and
sensibility, it was initially decorated with an eye toward eclectic American. What started as an
American dinner in the heart of London has blossomed into a way of life. Now, social norms and
preferences often suggest some tweaking of menus for local taste. The following is several examples:
In Europe, particularly in British, there is still some fear of mad cow diseases. Therefore, Hard Rock
Café is focusing less on hamburgers and beef and more on fish and lobster in its British cafes. Such as,
it has Veggie Burger A burger patty made of vegetables, cheese and spices served on a freshly toasted

Interactional Models Of Interpersonal Communication Analysis
A simple interaction between two people seems very basic, yet there are many things going on during
the interaction within each of the participants. When I greet my daughter after she comes home from
school with a simple how was school? and do you have any homework? it seems very straightforward.
On one level I am concerned whether or not she has had a good day, and what schoolwork does she
still need to do, she could simply react with good, and yes or no. There is also something deeper,
because she is family I want to help if her day was not good or celebrate if it was good, and also work
with her to get through any homework. She may or may not realize these things, but her responses
would bring a reaction that she would play ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the interactive model we understand where we are and the questions and answers have more
meaning, we both get more from the interaction in subtler ways. Finally the transactional model
represents more of the ways that our interactions go. There is noise that plays a part in the interaction,
her brothers being nice or ignoring her, her mother s concern about a test that is coming up, am I going
to find too many math problems that need to be redone. Through all of this I feel that we understand
each other, I try to empathize with teacher or friend problems, I try to approach corrections in a
positive way; there is nothing wrong with being wrong because that s how we learn. While I would
like to always give my family I Thou interactions I am far from perfect, but I am very happy with my
family, and I feel that we all try to pay attention to each other in a transactional way, which seems to

Notes Funds Are Superior For Hedge Funds
Index Funds are Superior to Hedge Funds
In 2006, a hedge fund manager by the name of John Paulson realized the housing market and the value
of subprime mortgages were grossly inflated and would be headed for a major fall. In the summer of
2007, the markets began to collapse, bringing Paulson early profits. By the year s end, John Paulson
had pulled off the greatest financial trade in history, earning more than $15 billion for his firm. He
subsequently invested funds in gold share classes in 2010, but they did not perform as well as the firm
planned, causing his net worth to drop $700 million (Zuckerman). These volatile situations can be
avoided if individuals invest their time and money in index funds rather than hedge funds. The ...

Both hedge funds and index funds stem from the idea of an independent mutual fund, but their
potential to succeed is dependent upon the economy performing well. The success of all investments,
whether a bull or bear market, are significantly driven by the performance of the overall economy.
Economics explains how people interact within markets to gain what they want or to accomplish their
goals. The market usually either has falling prices, which means a bear market and when flourishing
this is referred to as the bull market. The United States is a market economy, which means the
financial decisions and the pricing of goods and services are guided primarily by the aggregate
interactions of a country s citizens and businesses. In other words, market economies have little
government intervention or central planning (Investopedia). In addition to the performance of the
overall market, the returns for individuals are impacted by a company s management team. The
managers of investment funds either invest or trade investment instruments for the fund. Investing and
trading are two different strategies to achieve investment returns. The goal of investing is to gradually
build wealth over an extended period of time through the buying and holding of a portfolio of stocks,
baskets of stocks, mutual funds, bonds and other investment instruments (Investopedia). Trading, on
the other hand, involves the more frequent buying and selling of stocks,

Persuasive Essay On Breast Feeding
Imagine this, you re a mother or a father and your child is crying. No, the child is screaming. He or
she is hungry. For the first 6 months it s crucial for a newborn to be breastfed. It s only natural to feed
your child the food they need to grow and develop. So of course you re going to give them the food
they re crying for. People will argue you can pump or use formula, except pumped milk only stays
good for so long, and formula costs money and isn t always a mother s first choice. Some will use
formula for their newborn while away and have a babysitter, except breastfeeding helps them bond
with their parent and is usually prefered among women.

We cannot force a mother to leave an area where she is allowed to breastfeed according to the law.
B. Shaming breastfeeding is a widespread issue and is horrible.
According to Tracey M. DiLascio, public breastfeeding has been a debate for many years now but
wasn t always considered indecent or sexual like it is today, she published this article July of 2016 and
named it Breastfeeding in public: Overview. Points of view: Breastfeeding in Public. Some men blame
some of their sexual tendencies and harassing women on the fact that their breasts are exposed.
A few men argue that a women showing off cleavage is hot while breastfeeding is not, and then
continue by saying that is why women shouldn t publicly breastfeed. I don t pee in public, so why
should a woman breastfeed? Is the wrong question to ask if you want to make breastfeeding seem
indecent. This is suggesting that eating is considered dirty or a private act, which it is not. Urinating in
public is considered wrong because although it is a natural act, it is also a private

How Is Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Alike
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote two very touching poems. Both similar, but different in many
ways as well. Also both written in very two different parts of his life. One of them he wrote when he
was young and one when he was quiet a bit older. One of them being A Psalm of Life . In this poem
Longfellow expresses that everyone should live in the moment because tomorrow may or may not
come but we are not in charge of that so we might as well enjoy our life. By saying this we also
shouldn t dwell on the past because that is out of our hands as well. He believes that we should leave
our mark on this world when we unfortunately have to leave it, and hopefully make people remember
us. By making people remember us he preaches that we not follow

Condom Use A Method Of Birth Control
Condom Use a Method of Birth Control Introduction
The purpose of this instrument is to evaluate a health belief model based on condom use intervention
targeting undergraduate students. Research studies have been done to measure the number of people
who use condoms as a form of contraception (Moore Melkote, 2009). Research studies show condom
use and other prevention methods can reduce the spread of sexually transmitted diseases (STD), and
protect against pregnancy (Moore Melkote, 2009). HIV/AIDS Risk among College Students in the
United States was a study similar to the instrument survey I created. The study focused on the
correlation between condom use and the use of other forms of birth control at last intercourse (Moore
Melkote, 2009). Research data showed that the women used condoms to prevent pregnancy during
intercourse (Moore Melkote, 2009). The audience for my instrument consists of African American
college women and men involved in heterosexual relationships in an undergraduate program,
attending a public university in the United States. Adults in college are subject to catching STD s, and
HIV through unprotected sex (Moore Melkote, 2009).
The health behavior theory used in this instrument is the health belief model.

Introduction Of Natural Language Processing
INTRODUCTION TO NATURAL LANGUAGE PROCESSING
What is NLP?
Natural Language Processing can be defined as the use and ability of systems to process sentences in a
natural language such as English, instead of using a specialized artificial computer language such as
C, C++ etc. The systems used for NLP are a digital computer which is similarly resemble to
mainframe and personal computers. The digital computer systems in this fifth generation possesses
artificial intelligence technique and thus able to process natural languages. Natural language is a more
restricted subset of a human language; it cannot be thought of an actual language that possesses
ambiguities which computers could not sort out. Hence it is fair that Human Languages grant
aberration that natural language cannot grant. In a larger view; Natural Language Processing includes
signal processing or speech recognition, context reference issues and semantic analysis and
processing. Typical applications for Natural Language Processing include the following:
a) A good human computer interface that can translate from a natural language into a computer
language and vice versa. A natural language system can act as an interface to a database system. This
technology is very useful for the blind people; that with the help of speech recognition interact with
computers.
b) A basic necessity is for a translation program that could convert from one human vocal language to
another. This saves down the time for translation.

Compare And Contrast Dog s Death And The Blue Bowl
As we go through life, we experience countless losses. Those losses include loved ones such as family
members, friends, or both pets. Some individuals covet their furry friends as family, and when that
family pet dies people exhibit the same feelings of loss as they would for a human. However, some
individuals are not as involved with their pets, and do not experience the same emotional response to
their passing. Nonetheless, the loss of a pet is a memorable experience for most people. In John
Updike s Dog s Death and Jane Kenyon s The Blue Bowl, the speakers have just lost a pet; and
although their experiences are similar, their attitudes towards their pets departure do not completely
align. This essay will outline the similarities in these poems, as well distinguish their differences. Both
of these poems share the same plot: the loss of a pet and the speakers play by play of how that day
unfolded. These poems are memories and are not written in the present which means the speakers are
sharing their memories through their own reality of the experience. Clues that indicate past speech are
in words that end in ed in the first sentence of both poems such as kicked or buried (line 1 pg 548 and
line 1 pg 636). In Updike s poem, the speaker refers to a newspaper as an object tied to the dog.
Similarly in Kenyon s poem, the cat is tied to a blue bowl, which the pet is buried with. These objects
are apart of the pets everyday lives, and is something that their owners have

Red School House Durrie Analysis
The Metropolitan Museum of Art is one of the largest and most visited museum around the world; it
exhibits a lot of magnificent artworks from artists throughout the worldwide and history. The painting
Red School House (Country Scene) is one of the best examples. It was painted in 1858 by a great
American artist, George Henry Durrie (1820 1863). The medium of this painting are oil and canvas.
This painting was based in New Haven, Connecticut. The size of this work is approximately 26 x 36

The artist used vertical perspective, overlapping, diminishing size, and atmospheric perspective to
achieve the perceptual style. The vertical perspective means that the foreground is at the bottom of the
painting, and middle ground is in the middle, and the background is on the top. In this painting, the
carriage is the closest to the audience, so it is located on the bottom. The mountain is the farthest, so it
is on the top. Meanwhile, the artist made objects overlap with each other to creates an illusion of near
and far. The trees on the left side of this painting overlaps with the houses in the back. Thus, the
audiences can feel that the trees are nearer than house. At the same time, when the tree overlaps with
the houses, which also create an illusion to the audiences that the trees are in the front of the house.
The author also used diminishing size to illustrate the distant between the objects on this work and the
observer. Diminishing size means that objects come smaller as they go farther away. In the painting,
the horses are much bigger than the kids. It does not mean that the horses are literally much bigger but
means that the horses are closer to the audience. Atmospheric perspective means that the objects in the
foreground is clear and crisp, and the things in the background is less clarity, and become hazy. In this
painting, the color is vibrant in the foreground, and the color becomes bluish gray in the background.
The mountain looks vague, and the horses and the houses are really clear. The artist used all those
methods to create the illusion of space and depth and used space and depth to create

Beginning Your Search for Your Family Tree
Many people have, at least at one point in their lives, had great curiosity about family members who
came before them and whom they never met. Many of us have a vague notion that we come from
immigrants to America who were fleeing a famine in Ireland or war in Europe or Central America, or
political persecution in other parts of the world. Still others know that they had family members from
another part of the globe who came to America to search for a better life, full of more promising
opportunity.
Whatever the case, people are drawn to learn more. Starting out to do research on your family tree can
seem a bit daunting, if not overwhelming. But there are some simple steps to follow that will get you
started.
First, start by understanding that most family tree research projects are very long term endeavors.
These histories can go back hundreds of years and trace across wide swaths of the globe. And, the path
of the research is often not linear; you will likely start and stop and start again on the same line of
inquiry over and over as new information becomes available.
The best place to start is typically the easiest. There is already quite a bit of long standing family
history embedded in the memories and stories held by your living relatives. You can start by having
conversations with them on a one on one basis, or by gathering them together in a room. Often times,
these stories are so deeply engrained in people that having a conversation going among others helps to
spur

Pandemic Tabletop Analyse
Analysis On Friday, I attended the Pandemic Tabletop event at Grand View. This exercise was about
dealing with ways to responding to a disaster. In the case of this exercise, the scenario entailed
responding to a pandemic disease that is spreading across countries. We were given different steps and
events throughout the scenario. Each additional event that would occur in the scenario, added more
information to where the disease was spreading, who was being affected, and what kinds of things are
being done to manage it. At our group tables, it was up to us to come up with ideas of how we could
manage the disease that was spreading. As a team we would answer the questions given at each step
that progressed in the scenario. Together, we shared ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such a scenario allowed us as health care professionals to critically think what would be in the best
interest for a large population in a crisis and how we can bring relief to them. One thing that surprised
me was how it was a bit difficult to critically think what we would actually do through type of a crisis.
Through my nursing perspective, I was unsure how I would manage the care of patients during a crisis
outside of the hospital setting. It was interesting how each one of us had different dilemmas of how we
would deal with this situation. One thing that I will take away from this, is that it s important to
maintain ethical care for those who are being cared during a disaster even when privacy and
confidentiality may lack in such a situation. The second thing that I ll take away is how to collaborate
with team members and how to put our ideas together to manage to support the health and well being
of our patients. Lastly, I will take away how during a disaster/pandemic can affect our roles as health
care professionals. The role of a pharmacist, nurse, or doctor can interchange through a crisis when the
needs of for a population increases; where we need to take different roles the benefit the interest of the
population. My attitude towards a pandemic situation has changed as now I m aware of the importance
of critical thinking and collaborating with others to better

Nanking Massacre And The Nanking Massacre
In 1937, the Chinese city of Nanking was devastated when the Japanese Imperial Army invaded,
killing around 300,000 people . The Japanese soldiers went into people s homes searching for Chinese
soldiers, and killing civilians. These devastating events are known as the Rape of Nanking , or as the
Nanking Massacre. However, the history of atrocities like this are not always taught. Things such as
the Japanese history textbook controversy show how one event can be remembered, or portrayed, in
many different ways. For the most part, history can be skewed for political reasons. For Japan, making
history their own had benefits, and these benefits could help the government keep their people on their
side of things, and it would try to legitimize their own views on their history.
The forming of loyalty and patriotism through selective teachings of the Nanking Massacre has built
tensions between China and Japan that have, and still do, separate two nations.
The history, which is taught correctly in most nations, is horrifying. The Nanking Massacre lasted for
a span of a few months, with Japanese soldiers sparing no man, woman or child. The title Rape of
Nanking is to describe the raping of women, numbering anywhere from 20,000 to 80,000 . Some of
the Chinese captives, some of which were Chinese soldiers, were forced to dig graves for groups of
other captives to be buried alive in, and then would be buried themselves when the next group of
captives dug a new grave .

Reaction Paper On Etthylene Glycol
ETHYLENE GLYCOL
Description
Ethylene glycol is a colorless, odorless, sweet tasting chemical. It is poisonous if swallowed.
Ethylene glycol was once thought innocuous; in 1931 it was suggested as being suitable for use as a
vehicle or solvent for injectable pharmaceutical preparations. Numerous cases of poisoning have been
reported since then, and it has been shown to be toxic to humans. Ethylene glycol poisoning is a
relatively common occurrence worldwide. Human poisoning often occurs in isolated cases, but may
also occur in epidemics. Many cases of poisoning are the result of using ethylene glycol as a cheap
substitute for alcohol or intentional ingestions in suicide attempts. Less commonly it has been used as
a means of homicide. Children ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Crimean War And Its Lack Of Modernization
The Crimean War was the war between Great Britain, French, and along with some other countries
against Russia. While Russia led by Nicholas I, entered to the Crimean War to defend Orthodox
Christian within the autocrat empire; French entered this war because they promoted the Catholics
Christian; Great Britain wanted to maintain the autocrat empire and maintain power (Aksakov and
Danielevsky, 378 389). It was an absolute humiliating when Russia defeated the war. The Russian
military was outplayed because the British had much more sophisticated weapons, technology, and
supply line (Riasanovsky and Steinberg, 366). Many liberal, conservative, and Russian people
believed that the defeat of Russia in the Crimean War was evidence of Russia s economy and material
backwardness and fallen behind many European nations (lecture, 10/19). This led to the forces of
modernization .
Defeat in the Crimean War made Russia s lack of modernization clear. The first step toward
modernization was the emancipation of serfdom. Soon after the war end Nicholas I came to end of his
life. Alexander II was on the throne and the Great Reform period of Russia began. He first issued the
emancipation manifesto in 1861. Alexander II took steps to improve the condition of the peasantry.
But these steps were only partly successful, depending as they did on the goodwill and voluntary
action of landlords (Cracraft, 340). Therefore convinced that the task of improving the condition of the
peasants kind of

Lab Report On Luciferase
Introduction
In this experiment, the enzyme Luciferase (Luc) was purified using differential centrifugation,
precipitation, and a simplified chromatography procedure, followed by an enzyme activity assay using
the enzyme s natural substrate, Luciferin, to confirm the presence of Luc.
Luciferase is a 61 kD enzyme naturally found in the tails of fireflies, a member of the Lampyridae
family. Luc acts as a catalyst in an oxidation reduction reaction with Luciferin, which allows these
insects to exhibit bioluminescence for mating and communication ( Firefly Luciferase, n.d.). In this
reaction, Luciferin is adenylated and oxidized to produce Oxyluciferin, along with carbon dioxide,
adenosine monophosphate, and light ( Luciferase Mechanism, ... Show more content on

Following the purification process, the enzyme activity assay should reveal luminescence in the
supernatant fraction of the tail sample. SDS PAGE of the samples should reveal a band at 61 kD in the
tail sample and no distinct banding in the head sample.
Materials and Methods
Protein Purification:
To begin, samples of both firefly heads and firefly tails were divided amongst the groups. Our group
was assigned the firefly head to use as a negative control, while the other was assigned to the tail. The
firefly tissue was lysed by grinding with a pestle in the tube (Tube A) both before and after adding 250
L of Lysis buffer (1X PBS with 1% SDS). This mixture was then sonicated for two minutes to
complete the lysing process.
The tubes were then centrifuged at 1,000 rpm for 3 minutes to remove the large tissue pieces. The
supernatant of this tube contained the soluble compounds and proteins that were present in the cytosol
of the cells present in the tissue. The supernatant was removed using a micropipette and transferred to
a new 1.5 mL Eppendorf tube (Tube B), and the pellet Tube A was discarded.
The supernatant in Tube B was then mixed with 1 mL of ice cold acetone in order to separate the
proteins from the other compounds present in the aqueous solution. Tube B was spun in the centrifuge
at 10,000 rpm for 2 minutes. The resulting supernatant was removed and discarded to isolate the
pellet, containing the

Systems Theory presents the idea that all organizations and their parts are systems that exist in relation

since it started out rough with her mistreatment from adults and discouraging misfortunes, but she was
ambitious and that showed through her singing career. Billie could usually adapt to her life s problems
except for her drug addiction and alcohol abuse, which unfortunately led to her demise. She was a

Should the client successfully produce those words, they will get to keep the Pokéball and capture a

Substance And Substance Abuse Among Inmates
Substance Abuse among Inmates
Substance abuse can be a big problem in our criminal justice system when dealing with the number of
inmates who go back to their illegal activity after being released from custody. In specific, inmates
who are drug users/ abusers are to be expected to go back to drugs once they get out. Without
treatment they do not have the tools, knowledge, or resources to stay clean on the outside when
released. The biggest hazard for an ex inmate in the community is getting back to their old life, old
friends, old contacts, and old drugs. To understand why these substance abusers are the way they are,
there must be a clear emphasis on how these substances first evolved and where they originally came
from. Focusing on substance abuse among inmates at the federal and state prison can be extremely
different when in custody and the programs and treatment that is provided in these prisons can really
have a great effect on these offenders when being released back into the community. Substance abuse
can range from a small marijuana problem to a severe heroin addiction. Substance abuse is defined as
overindulgence in or dependence on an addictive substance, especially alcohol or drugs. This is a huge
issue in our society today and has been since dated back to the earliest age of 1794 otherwise known
as the 17th century. Alcohol was the first substance that was allowed to be of consumption. Alcohol
was the first substance that was represented in American

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Bio Composites
Abstract The Report contains basic details of Bio Composites, its types and uses.
I. INTRODUCTION
Bio composite (bio from Greek alive ) is a composite material formed by a matrix (resin) and a
reinforcement of natural fibers. These kinds of materials often mimic the structure of the living
materials involved in the process keeping the strengthening properties of the matrix that was used, but
always providing biocompatibility. The matrix phase is formed by polymers derived from renewable
and nonrenewable resources. The matrix is important to protect the fibers from environmental
degradation and mechanical damage, to hold the fibers together and to transfer the loads on it. The
commonly used fibers are from crops (cotton, flax or hemp), recycled wood, waste paper, crop
processing byproducts or regenerated cellulose fiber (viscose/rayon).
II. TYPES OF BIO COMPOSITES AND THEIR USES

These may be classified into two categories according to the types of reinforcement used: (i) particle
or short fibers and (ii) continuous fibers. For continuous fiber reinforced bio composites, woven fabric
preforms processed from natural fibers have been introduced as the reinforcements. Fabrication of
laminated composite with four layers of jute woven fabrics has been done. Prior to their impregnation
in the resin matrix, the jute fabrics were treated with alkali in the biaxial tensile stress state. A
significant improvement of the mechanical stiffness was achieved in the composite with the fibers
treated with alkali under applied stress.
The two main drawbacks of presently developed bio composites from its rival glass fiber composites
are: poor moisture resistance and low impact strength. Recent research results show that there is some
large lays either in pre treatment of the fibers, engineering of fibers or in improving the chemistry
while impregnating the fibers with the matrix

Orwell s Use Of The Phonetic Alphabet In The Military...
The military, as a whole, has a countless number of sayings, slogans and acronyms for every, single
aspect of military life. Consequently, it feels like learning a new language to those newly indoctrinated
members of this culture; being required to learn a new alphabet, the phonetic alphabet, reinforces this
feeling. While the mastery of this language is slow and arduous, there is a larger purpose behind it. To
protect its service members as well as its assets, the military needs every part to run smoothly and
efficiently. Accordingly, they have crafted a language, and an alphabet, after George Orwell s heart:
one that leaves nothing up to interpretation, one which is terse, and builds a clear and consistent
picture of the point being made. Admittedly, when someone in the military attempts to spell a word
using the phonetic alphabet, it goes against Orwell s second rule: Never use a long word where a short
one will do, (519). Instead of spelling K I F E R, the spelling of my name becomes, Kilo, India,
Foxtrot, Echo, Romeo; obviously, this takes longer and would not be considered efficient Orwell. ...

Selective Moutism And Social Anxiety
Humans hold conversations constantly, throughout every day, month, and year of their life. Of course,
the vast majority feel some degree of anxiety when it comes to public speaking, but for others, even
the tiniest of small talk can be cause for fear. This can be attributed to numerous conditions, such as
glossophobia, social anxiety, and selective mutism. Simply put, glossophobia is the fear of public
speaking, rather than the fear of speaking in general, which is generally referred to as social phobia,
and reveals itself in social anxiety. Selective mutism is linked to anxiety, as over 90% of people with
selective mutism also have social phobia, but is defined as a typically childhood disorder characterized

autistic woman with a deep love for animals, is shown giving eye opening speeches in two scenes of
her movie, one after graduating, and one at a convention. Her words rang true with many and she still
gives speeches today about her passions, much like a slam poet. On the other hand, Miranda has been
living with selective mutism almost her whole life. After joining a performing arts school, though, she
felt more confident and happy. The teen wrote, I felt like part of a family and the people around me
loved the same things as me. Performing taught me how to become a different person, an alter ego if
you want, which helped me in the real world.... I became a different person and discovered who I
really was, not just the shy one who never speaks. In Miranda s case, performing gave her an outlet
and allowed her a reprieve from the constant anxiety she used to feel when socializing. Mab Jones

general are a valuable outlet for countless

The Increasing Threat from Mercury in Our Aquatic Environment
Mercury contamination in aquatic environments is becoming an increasing threat to both wildlife and
humans (Peterson S. A., 2007). Organisms in the aquatic environment, particularly fish,
bioaccumulate methylmercury from contaminated water and food, but predominately from food
(Peterson S. A., 2007). Mercury in the atmosphere exists in three inorganic forms: gaseous elemental
mercury (GEM: Hg0), oxidized mercury typically called reactive gaseous mercury (RGM: Hg2+), and
particulate mercury (Hgp) (Hyun Deok Choi, 2008). Once emitted, mercury can be transformed from
one species to another via photoreduction, reactions with halides, and other oxidation/reduction
reactions (Hyun Deok Choi, 2008). Methylmercury is the bioavailable form of mercury, with well
documented adverse effects (Rimmer, 2010). Methylated mercury is known to cause adverse effects to
wildlife and aquatic organisms. Methylmercury can have neurotoxic, immunotoxic, and
developmental effects on fish, birds, and mammals; top consumers may be at elevated risk (Weir,
2010). Methylmercury is synthesized from inorganic mercury (Hg II) by aquatic bacteria at
oxic/anoxic boundaries such as sediment water interface of lakes and rivers (Hurley JP, 1995). The
degree to which an aquatic system is impacted by methylmercury contamination is a function of a
number of factors, including the rate of supply of atmospherically derived Hg (II), the net rate of
mercury methylation by aquatic, the efficiency of transport and

Unemployment skyrocketed up to its peak of nearly twenty five percent of the population. Added to
this was the series of dust storms terrorizing the mid west. These storms destroyed most crops and left
farmers destitute and homeless. This resulted in a mass migration of mid western farmers moving west
to areas such as California to find work. These farmers became to be known derogatorily as Okies.
Newly elected President Roosevelt began immediately to put programs into affect, which would halt
the effects of the depression and aid those who were suffering. These programs became known as the
New Deal. The purpose of the New Deal was to provide jobs for the unemployed and offer relief to
the distressed. Programs such as the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) and the Works Progress
Administration (WPA) put millions of people to work building roads, dams, and other public works.
One of these government programs was called the Farm Security Administration (FSA). The FSA was
an agency intended to fight rural poverty during a period when the poor agricultural climate and
plunging national economy was causing many rural farmers to leave their farms and homes to find
work. The FSA also hired photographers as part of a public relations campaign. These photographers
documented the lives and conditions of many of these stricken peoples.
The purpose of these photographers was to provide visual evidence that there was

Queen Elizabeth I Of England
Elizabeth sat in her bedroom in the Buckingham palace brushing her long, curly, red hair which was
stained with strands of gray. She focused on the mirror and softly stared at the freckles on her pale
skin, which looked as if it needed to be ironed, and her dark brown eyes that looked like a black hole
against her pale complexion. The year was 1587, Elizabeth had gone through so much to be here. Oh,
my mistake, I should probably refer to her by her formal name. The Elizabeth of this daring story full
of anger and spite is none other than Queen Elizabeth I of England. To tell the full story though, we
must travel back some 50 years to when Elizabeth was only 3 years old. The year is 1536, her mother,
Anne Boleyn, has failed to produce a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The year is 1553, after some long and confusing years of switching between rulers, Queen Mary I,
also known as Bloody Mary, came into power. Mary was the first child of King Henry VIII (Elizabeth
s father if you forgot) but King Henry changed the religion of the country from Catholic to Protestant
just so that he could divorce Mary s mother. After the divorce, Mary was declared illegitimate, same
as Elizabeth. After some rather confusing years in England s history, Mary rose to power and claimed
the throne in 1553 as what the Catholics believed to be the rightful heir of the throne. Here is why she
has the nickname Bloody Mary. She reversed the religion of England from Protestant back to Catholic
and then she burned over 280 religious dissenters at the stake in the Marian persecutions in only a
short 5 year reign. The year is 1558, Elizabeth came into power after her sister, Mary died. But the
rode to keeping the title of queen will not be easy. Elizabeth made the country back into Protestant,
which many resented her for. More than just religion, Elizabeth refused to marry, and soon became
known as the Virgin Queen . This provided another conflict for Elizabeth, many believed a woman
was unfit to rule a country and wanted another ruler. But, her biggest conflict was with her cousin,
Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots, who just so happened to be Catholic. Here, let me explain to you why
these two woman are perfect arch enemies. Of course

Rosalind Franklin Dna Replication
Because of her discovery of the B form of DNA, recognition that two states of the
DNA molecule existed and defined the conditions for the transition, essentially being literally only
two steps away from discovering the structure of DNA herself, Rosalind
Franklin deserved to be a co winner of the 1962 Nobel Peace Prize Nobel Prize in
Medicine for elucidating the structure of DNA in such a way that the mechanism for genetic
replication was revealed. The x ray, or photograph that James Watson, Francis
Crick and Maurice Wilkins used, and was extremely viable in all three of their research, was a direct
result of work carried out by Rosalind Franklin while at King s College in
London. Instead, the three men received the recognition and Rosalind ... Show more content on

From these photographs, or x rays, she was able to draw a logical conclusion to the basic dimensions
of DNA strands. Rosalind actually presented these findings at a lecture in King s College at which one
of the eventual Prize winners, James Watson, were in attendance. Franklin tried to figure out how the
double helix worked but wasn t able to. Without her permission,
Franklin s co worker, Maurice Wilkins, secretly showed her photos to the American scientist Watson.
He and Francis Crick, his British research partner, were trying to build a DNA model. When Watson
saw the photographs, he realized that DNA is a double stranded helix and the two were able to
complete the model.
In 1953, the same year Rosalind left Cambridge, both Wilkins and Franklin published papers on their
X ray data in the same journal issue with Watson and Crick s paper on the structure of DNA. Neither
published paper gave credit to the photo that would eventually help, if not become the breakthrough
they needed in their

Naruto Alternate Ending Essay
It was dark all around Naruto. The darkness wasn t terribly frightening. No, it was calming the light
reminded him all to well of the flickering of the villagers torches.
Naruto never really asked for much. Yes, there were days when he would demand another bowl of
ramen from the Old Man, but it was more for the company than for the food. The Old Man always
seemed to have something wise to say.
Like now, as Naruto felt around the darkness, the Old Man was telling him to never be afraid of it the
shadows were a shinobi s friend and lifesaver.
As Naruto felt the cool, damp soil all around him as well as below him, the Old Man was encouraging
him to imagine where he was and to be realistic about it. Though being immersed in hot water and
surrounded by steam did have the possibility of one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Well, neither do I.
The voice crashed upon the walls of the cavern, causing rock and dust to fall from the ceiling. The
voice was ancient and from the slight intones, Naruto could tell that the voice s creator wanted
something. And taking a few steps forward, Naruto could see exactly what the gigantic fox wanted. It
was the one thing that Naruto could fully understand and desire as well.
Freedom.
Naruto looked down at his trembling hands as the realization hit him all too hard.
He didn t ask for much, yet the villager s gave him their scorn and beatings. He wanted love and they
gave him pain. Naruto wanted to be free from all of the hate.
Say something puny human! Do you know whom you speak to? Do you know the many ways that I
will kill you once I
I too want to be free, stated Naruto who looked up from his opened hands and towards the cage in the
corner. He did not know the seriousness of the danger that lay in that cage, but he instinctly knew that
there was no danger for him as long as he conveyed what he wanted to say next correctly.
What do you mean by that, human? Where is your cage? What pain could you have possibly

Hard Water Lab Report Essay
Lab Report: Hard Water Purpose: The purpose of this lab is to determine whether a liquid is hard
water or not. Background: Hard water is the water that has a high amount of mineral in it, usually
Ca2+ and Mg+. These cations enter the source of water by leaching from minerals within a wet
underground layer of water bearing rock, or an aquifer. According to the WHO, hard water is not
harmful to human s health but it s a serious problem in the water industry. Household plumbing and
appliances are also greatly affected by hard water conditions. Some of the effects include clogged
pipes, water heater inefficiency and hard scaling. Hard water is also linked to decreased water flow or
water pressure and seized (frozen) valves in faucets, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chemistry Workbook , page 52 53. Data Table: | Tap water from Elk Grove | Well water from Wilton |
# of drops EDTA 1st time | 16 | 28 | # of drops EDTA 2nd time | 16 | 29 | # of drops EDTA 3rd time | | |
Average result | 16 | 28.5 | Data Analysis: 1) Which water sample had more Ca/Mg? Relatively, how
much more? The well water from Wilton has a larger amount of Ca 2+/Mg 2+ compared to the Elk
Grove tap water. Relatively, it s approximately twice harder because 28 drops of EDTA is added to
Wilton well water in order to make it turns blue while it only take 16 drops to changes color of Elk
Grove tap water. 2) EDTA is often added to shampoo. Can you suggest why? EDTA is added to
shampoo to take away the calcium and magnesium that exists. The shampoo will then lather and
creates more bubbles; that s greater to bathe in. 3) Pots and pans used for boiling water often develop
a coating of scale in homes that use hard water. What might this scale be? The scale might be
magnesium and calcium. After the water reaches its boiling point, all the water molecules would turns
into gas evaporates, left the solid magnesium and calcium at the bottom of the pans. 4) Why might the
water of one region be much harder than another? The water of different region has different hardness
level because water comes from different sources of underground aquifers. The amount of

Persuasive Essay On Lightabers
In the film it shows the lightsabers are a blade of light but it actually is a blade of plasma so they
would really be a plasma sword! If lightsabers are being built in the futcher I believe they will be the
second strongest thing on the planet they could cut thru the hardest of materials with 1,600,000,000
joules of energy the only thing stronger is a nuke with 41,800,000,000,000,000 joules of energy no
jedi can block that without the force . But the lightsabers would be plasma swords and would pass thru
one another so the lightsaber duels are a fantasy but we can still make them and some more problems
if you make one now it might cause cancer and will burn you but if we fix that and make the plasma
molecules stay together no matter what we could get the lightsaber duels and no burning or risk of
cancer and that would be awesome. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

have light not lightsaber proof armor, light dagger, and lightsaber so they would basically be assasins
and the jedi would kill the sith whale jedi knights will where lightsaber proof armor and have a
lightsaber so the jedi of the film would not be jedi knights they would be a jedi assassins or almost
yoda needs a lightsaber and obi wan needs a light dagger. The force doesn t exist so the thing of
having to force meditate over your lightsaber to bonded to it is bogus and it will never hapon if it does
then we would be having a war will the imperials right now and I would be forced to be a trainee and

Leading Change by John P. Kotter
Leading Change by John P. Kotter Book review by Pat Naughtin Harvard Professor John P. Kotter has
been observing the process of change for 30 years. He believes that there are critical differences
between change efforts that have been successful, and change efforts that have failed. What interests
him is why some people are able to get their organizations to change dramatically while most do not.
John P. Kotter writes: Over the past decade, I have watched more than a hundred companies try to
remake themselves into significantly better competitors. They have included large organizations
(Ford) and small ones (Landmark Communications), companies based in United States (General
Motors) and elsewhere (British Airways), corporations that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Plan for visible performance improvements. Create those improvements. Recognise and reward
employees involved in the improvements. Under communicating the vision. Transformation is
impossible unless hundreds or thousands of people are willing to help, often to the point of making
short term sacrifices. Not removing obstacles to the new vision. Obstacles can be: the organizational
structure, narrowly defined job categories, compensation or performance appraisal systems, and, worst
of all, bosses who refuse to change and make demands that are inconsistent with the overall change
vision. Not systematically planning and creating short term wins. Planning and creating short term
wins is different from hoping for short term wins. The former is active, the latter passive. Actively
look for ways to obtain clear performance improvements, establish goals in the yearly planning
system, achieve the objectives, and reward the people involved with recognition, promotions, or
money. Declaring victory too soon. Instead of declaring victory, leaders of successful change efforts
use the credibility afforded by the short term wins to tackle even bigger problems. 2 7 Consolidate
improvements and producing still more change. Use increased credibility to change systems,
structures, and policies that don t fit the vision. Hire, promote, and develop employees who can
implement the vision. Reinvigorate the process with new projects, themes, and

  • 2. The First Time Of The Second Time For this essay I compared the first time I went to Massachusetts compare to the second time. The first time was when I was 15 years old, the second time was when I was 19. When I was in 7th grade I met my lifelong friend Caitlin. We did almost everything together. If you saw one of us the other was close behind. When I was 13 years old, she and her family moved to Massachusetts. Both of these experiences were completely different. I will talk about the pros and cons of both of the trips. The first time I went to Massachusetts I went for an entire week I was only 15 years old my grandparents drove me to York County and then I was picked up by Caitlin s parents and brought to their house in Marlboro, Massachusetts. We had a lot of fun, but because of our age, we were limited to what we could do. We couldn t go to the store by yourself. We couldn t go to the mall by yourself. We couldn t do much other than go for walks that the place is only a mile away. Caitlin got me hooked on Monster when I was up there so I had seven in one week and ended up going home with a UTI, and my hair blonde when I was trying to make it light brown. When I was there it was hard because Caitlin s mom was always telling her she needs to clean she need to watch her siblings, she needed to do everything that her mom said and we spend the entire vacation cleaning and doing work that her mom wanted. Those were all the cons. The pros of the trip was that I got to see her and got to spend the ride ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Career As An Educator A career as an educator is a highly rewarding and equally challenging position, a teacher is not only responsible for the academic success of their pupils but the social development as well, this is especially true as a second language teacher. It is through my own experience as a student and a prospective teacher that I ve developed my own beliefs and philosophy about teaching. I believe that there are certain things that can t be compromised or short sold for example, classroom environment and the needs of the learner. There does however, need to be a certain level of flexibility both with the teacher and the techniques and methodologies employed. There are many attributes that make an effective teacher, some include; creativity, compassion, and leadership. These qualities coupled with knowledge of the material and language learning experience can fortify learning for the students. Through the course of this semester many approaches and techniques have been discussed, elaboration on their benefits and uses and how to utilize them best in a language learning setting have been highlighted. Through the presentation of all the information it seems that no single approach or technique can satisfy the needs of every learner, and that the most pertinent message to teachers is to know what the needs of your students are individually, and cater lessons for those needs using a variety of techniques. That being said I will discuss some approaches and techniques that I found the most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The main focus or image would be on the fact that he lost his father in the most ruthless way and his mother was married away. If it was up to me I would place this story in the heart of Detroit. With all this kind of drama that happens in Detroit, Michigan in the heart of the Motor City this would be right in the spot. The set would be simple it would be in the gallows of Detroit between 6 mile and 7 mile near Woodward Avenue. The new and modernized play would be throughout the city of detroit. For the INTJ, this book serves as a helpful and insightful guide to better understand oneself and others; the INTJ can also utilize this text to better emphasize and interact with various types of people. The INTJ s general temperament is a Rational or a NT. Rationals are logical, contemplative, and inquiring people (Keirsey, 1998, p. 164). They want to understand everything, and this mindset often makes them appear uninterested and detached from others. At Hard Rock, the experience concept is to provide not only a custom meal from the menu, but a dining event that includes a unique visual and sound experience not duplicated anywhere in the world. Here, we first discuss the Product Design and Quality: When Hard Rock Cafe is founded, first rate, but moderately priced casual American fare, warm service and ever present rock n roll music and sensibility, it was initially decorated with an eye toward eclectic American. What started as an American dinner in the heart of London has blossomed into a way of life. Now, social norms and preferences often suggest some tweaking of menus for local taste. The following is several examples: In Europe, particularly in British, there is still some fear of mad cow diseases. On one level I am concerned whether or not she has had a good day, and what schoolwork does she still need to do, she could simply react with good, and yes or no. The success of all investments, whether a bull or bear market, are significantly driven by the performance of the overall economy. Economics explains how people interact within markets to gain what they want or to accomplish their goals. The market usually either has falling prices, which means a bear market and when flourishing this is referred to as the bull market. The United States is a market economy, which means the financial decisions and the pricing of goods and services are guided primarily by the aggregate interactions of a country s citizens and businesses. For the first 6 months it s crucial for a newborn to be breastfed. It s only natural to feed your child the food they need to grow and develop. So of course you re going to give them the food they re crying for. People will argue you can pump or use formula, except pumped milk only stays good for so long, and formula costs money and isn t always a mother s first choice. Some will use formula for their newborn while away and have a babysitter, except breastfeeding helps them bond with their parent and is usually prefered among women. Condom Use A Method Of Birth Control Condom Use a Method of Birth Control Introduction The purpose of this instrument is to evaluate a health belief model based on condom use intervention targeting undergraduate students. Research studies have been done to measure the number of people who use condoms as a form of contraception (Moore Melkote, 2009). Research studies show condom use and other prevention methods can reduce the spread of sexually transmitted diseases (STD), and protect against pregnancy (Moore Melkote, 2009). HIV/AIDS Risk among College Students in the United States was a study similar to the instrument survey I created. The study focused on the correlation between condom use and the use of other forms of birth control at last intercourse (Moore Melkote, 2009). Research data showed that the women used condoms to prevent pregnancy during intercourse (Moore Melkote, 2009). The audience for my instrument consists of African American college women and men involved in heterosexual relationships in an undergraduate program, attending a public university in the United States. Adults in college are subject to catching STD s, and HIV through unprotected sex (Moore Melkote, 2009). The health behavior theory used in this instrument is the health belief model. Natural Language Processing can be defined as the use and ability of systems to process sentences in a natural language such as English, instead of using a specialized artificial computer language such as C, C++ etc. The systems used for NLP are a digital computer which is similarly resemble to mainframe and personal computers. The digital computer systems in this fifth generation possesses artificial intelligence technique and thus able to process natural languages. Natural language is a more restricted subset of a human language; it cannot be thought of an actual language that possesses ambiguities which computers could not sort out. Hence it is fair that Human Languages grant aberration that natural language cannot grant. In a larger view; Natural Language Processing includes signal processing or speech recognition, context reference issues and semantic analysis and processing. Typical applications for Natural Language Processing include the following: a) A good human computer interface that can translate from a natural language into a computer language and vice versa. A natural language system can act as an interface to a database system. This technology is very useful for the blind people; that with the help of speech recognition interact with computers. b) A basic necessity is for a translation program that could convert from one human vocal language to another. • 17. Compare And Contrast Dog s Death And The Blue Bowl As we go through life, we experience countless losses. Those losses include loved ones such as family members, friends, or both pets. Some individuals covet their furry friends as family, and when that family pet dies people exhibit the same feelings of loss as they would for a human. However, some individuals are not as involved with their pets, and do not experience the same emotional response to their passing. Nonetheless, the loss of a pet is a memorable experience for most people. In John Updike s Dog s Death and Jane Kenyon s The Blue Bowl, the speakers have just lost a pet; and although their experiences are similar, their attitudes towards their pets departure do not completely align. This essay will outline the similarities in these poems, as well distinguish their differences. Both of these poems share the same plot: the loss of a pet and the speakers play by play of how that day unfolded. These poems are memories and are not written in the present which means the speakers are sharing their memories through their own reality of the experience. Clues that indicate past speech are in words that end in ed in the first sentence of both poems such as kicked or buried (line 1 pg 548 and line 1 pg 636). In Updike s poem, the speaker refers to a newspaper as an object tied to the dog. Similarly in Kenyon s poem, the cat is tied to a blue bowl, which the pet is buried with. In this painting, the carriage is the closest to the audience, so it is located on the bottom. The mountain is the farthest, so it is on the top. Meanwhile, the artist made objects overlap with each other to creates an illusion of near and far. The trees on the left side of this painting overlaps with the houses in the back. Thus, the audiences can feel that the trees are nearer than house. At the same time, when the tree overlaps with the houses, which also create an illusion to the audiences that the trees are in the front of the house. The author also used diminishing size to illustrate the distant between the objects on this work and the observer. Diminishing size means that objects come smaller as they go farther away. In the painting, the horses are much bigger than the kids. It does not mean that the horses are literally much bigger but means that the horses are closer to the audience. Atmospheric perspective means that the objects in the foreground is clear and crisp, and the things in the background is less clarity, and become hazy. • 19. Beginning Your Search for Your Family Tree Many people have, at least at one point in their lives, had great curiosity about family members who came before them and whom they never met. Many of us have a vague notion that we come from immigrants to America who were fleeing a famine in Ireland or war in Europe or Central America, or political persecution in other parts of the world. Still others know that they had family members from another part of the globe who came to America to search for a better life, full of more promising opportunity. Whatever the case, people are drawn to learn more. Starting out to do research on your family tree can seem a bit daunting, if not overwhelming. But there are some simple steps to follow that will get you started. First, start by understanding that most family tree research projects are very long term endeavors. These histories can go back hundreds of years and trace across wide swaths of the globe. And, the path of the research is often not linear; you will likely start and stop and start again on the same line of inquiry over and over as new information becomes available. The best place to start is typically the easiest. There is already quite a bit of long standing family history embedded in the memories and stories held by your living relatives. You can start by having conversations with them on a one on one basis, or by gathering them together in a room. In the case of this exercise, the scenario entailed responding to a pandemic disease that is spreading across countries. We were given different steps and events throughout the scenario. Each additional event that would occur in the scenario, added more information to where the disease was spreading, who was being affected, and what kinds of things are being done to manage it. Through my nursing perspective, I was unsure how I would manage the care of patients during a crisis outside of the hospital setting. It was interesting how each one of us had different dilemmas of how we would deal with this situation. One thing that I will take away from this, is that it s important to maintain ethical care for those who are being cared during a disaster even when privacy and confidentiality may lack in such a situation. The Japanese soldiers went into people s homes searching for Chinese soldiers, and killing civilians. These devastating events are known as the Rape of Nanking , or as the Nanking Massacre. However, the history of atrocities like this are not always taught. Things such as the Japanese history textbook controversy show how one event can be remembered, or portrayed, in many different ways. For the most part, history can be skewed for political reasons. For Japan, making history their own had benefits, and these benefits could help the government keep their people on their side of things, and it would try to legitimize their own views on their history. While Russia led by Nicholas I, entered to the Crimean War to defend Orthodox Christian within the autocrat empire; French entered this war because they promoted the Catholics Christian; Great Britain wanted to maintain the autocrat empire and maintain power (Aksakov and Danielevsky, 378 389). It was an absolute humiliating when Russia defeated the war. The Russian military was outplayed because the British had much more sophisticated weapons, technology, and supply line (Riasanovsky and Steinberg, 366). Many liberal, conservative, and Russian people believed that the defeat of Russia in the Crimean War was evidence of Russia s economy and material backwardness and fallen behind many European nations (lecture, 10/19). Without treatment they do not have the tools, knowledge, or resources to stay clean on the outside when released. INTRODUCTION Bio composite (bio from Greek alive ) is a composite material formed by a matrix (resin) and a reinforcement of natural fibers. These kinds of materials often mimic the structure of the living materials involved in the process keeping the strengthening properties of the matrix that was used, but always providing biocompatibility. The matrix phase is formed by polymers derived from renewable and nonrenewable resources. The matrix is important to protect the fibers from environmental degradation and mechanical damage, to hold the fibers together and to transfer the loads on it. The commonly used fibers are from crops (cotton, flax or hemp), recycled wood, waste paper, crop processing byproducts or regenerated cellulose fiber (viscose/rayon). II. Consequently, it feels like learning a new language to those newly indoctrinated members of this culture; being required to learn a new alphabet, the phonetic alphabet, reinforces this feeling. While the mastery of this language is slow and arduous, there is a larger purpose behind it. To protect its service members as well as its assets, the military needs every part to run smoothly and efficiently. Selective mutism is linked to anxiety, as over 90% of people with selective mutism also have social phobia, but is defined as a typically childhood disorder characterized by an inability to speak and communicate ... As a matter of fact, this way of communication can be directly connected to both Temple Grandin and Miranda, a 17 year old living with selective mutism. Temple Grandin, an autistic woman with a deep love for animals, is shown giving eye opening speeches in two scenes of her movie, one after graduating, and one at a convention. Her words rang true with many and she still gives speeches today about her passions, much like a slam poet. On the other hand, Miranda has been living with selective mutism almost her whole life. After joining a performing arts school, though, she felt more confident and happy. The teen wrote, I felt like part of a family and the people around me loved the same things as me. Performing taught me how to become a different person, an alter ego if you want, which helped me in the real world.... I became a different person and discovered who I really was, not just the shy one who never speaks. In Miranda s case, performing gave her an outlet and allowed her a reprieve from the constant anxiety she used to feel when socializing. Mab Jones story was told earlier, and it too attests to the idea that the performing arts, poetry, and spoken word in general are a valuable outlet for countless ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. The Increasing Threat from Mercury in Our Aquatic Environment Mercury contamination in aquatic environments is becoming an increasing threat to both wildlife and humans (Peterson S. A., 2007). Organisms in the aquatic environment, particularly fish, bioaccumulate methylmercury from contaminated water and food, but predominately from food (Peterson S. A., 2007). Mercury in the atmosphere exists in three inorganic forms: gaseous elemental mercury (GEM: Hg0), oxidized mercury typically called reactive gaseous mercury (RGM: Hg2+), and particulate mercury (Hgp) (Hyun Deok Choi, 2008). Once emitted, mercury can be transformed from one species to another via photoreduction, reactions with halides, and other oxidation/reduction reactions (Hyun Deok Choi, 2008). Methylmercury is the bioavailable form of mercury, with well documented adverse effects (Rimmer, 2010). Methylated mercury is known to cause adverse effects to wildlife and aquatic organisms. Methylmercury can have neurotoxic, immunotoxic, and developmental effects on fish, birds, and mammals; top consumers may be at elevated risk (Weir, 2010). Methylmercury is synthesized from inorganic mercury (Hg II) by aquatic bacteria at oxic/anoxic boundaries such as sediment water interface of lakes and rivers (Hurley JP, 1995). The degree to which an aquatic system is impacted by methylmercury contamination is a function of a number of factors, including the rate of supply of atmospherically derived Hg (II), the net rate of mercury methylation by aquatic, the efficiency of transport and ... • 40. Essay on Fsa Photography During the Great Depression I glance amusedly at the photo placed before me. The bright and smiling faces of my family stare back me, their expressions depicting complete happiness. My mind drifted back to the events of the day that the photo was taken. It was Memorial Day and so, in the spirit of tradition my large extended family had gathered at the grave of my great grandparents. The day was hot and I had begged my mother to let me join my friends at the pool. However, my mother had refused. Inconsolable, I spent most of the day moping about sulkily. The time came for a group picture and so my grandmother arranged us all just so and then turned to me saying, You d better smile Emma or you ll look back at this and never forgive yourself. Added to this was the series of dust storms terrorizing the mid west. These storms destroyed most crops and left farmers destitute and homeless. This resulted in a mass migration of mid western farmers moving west to areas such as California to find work. These farmers became to be known derogatorily as Okies. Newly elected President Roosevelt began immediately to put programs into affect, which would halt the effects of the depression and aid those who were suffering. These programs became known as the New Deal. The purpose of the New Deal was to provide jobs for the unemployed and offer relief to the distressed. Programs such as the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) and the Works Progress Administration (WPA) put millions of people to work building roads, dams, and other public works. One of these government programs was called the Farm Security Administration (FSA). The FSA was an agency intended to fight rural poverty during a period when the poor agricultural climate and plunging national economy was causing many rural farmers to leave their farms and homes to find work. The FSA also hired photographers as part of a public relations campaign. These photographers documented the lives and conditions of many of these stricken peoples. • 41. Queen Elizabeth I Of England Elizabeth sat in her bedroom in the Buckingham palace brushing her long, curly, red hair which was stained with strands of gray. She focused on the mirror and softly stared at the freckles on her pale skin, which looked as if it needed to be ironed, and her dark brown eyes that looked like a black hole against her pale complexion. The year was 1587, Elizabeth had gone through so much to be here. Oh, my mistake, I should probably refer to her by her formal name. The Elizabeth of this daring story full of anger and spite is none other than Queen Elizabeth I of England. To tell the full story though, we must travel back some 50 years to when Elizabeth was only 3 years old. The year is 1536, her mother, Anne Boleyn, has failed to produce a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The year is 1553, after some long and confusing years of switching between rulers, Queen Mary I, also known as Bloody Mary, came into power. Mary was the first child of King Henry VIII (Elizabeth s father if you forgot) but King Henry changed the religion of the country from Catholic to Protestant just so that he could divorce Mary s mother. After the divorce, Mary was declared illegitimate, same as Elizabeth. After some rather confusing years in England s history, Mary rose to power and claimed the throne in 1553 as what the Catholics believed to be the rightful heir of the throne. Here is why she has the nickname Bloody Mary. She reversed the religion of England from Protestant back to Catholic and then she burned over 280 religious dissenters at the stake in the Marian persecutions in only a short 5 year reign. The year is 1558, Elizabeth came into power after her sister, Mary died. But the rode to keeping the title of queen will not be easy. Elizabeth made the country back into Protestant, which many resented her for. More than just religion, Elizabeth refused to marry, and soon became known as the Virgin Queen . This provided another conflict for Elizabeth, many believed a woman was unfit to rule a country and wanted another ruler. But, her biggest conflict was with her cousin, Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots, who just so happened to be Catholic. Here, let me explain to you why these two woman are perfect arch enemies. Rosalind Franklin Dna Replication Because of her discovery of the B form of DNA, recognition that two states of the DNA molecule existed and defined the conditions for the transition, essentially being literally only two steps away from discovering the structure of DNA herself, Rosalind Franklin deserved to be a co winner of the 1962 Nobel Peace Prize Nobel Prize in Medicine for elucidating the structure of DNA in such a way that the mechanism for genetic replication was revealed. The x ray, or photograph that James Watson, Francis Crick and Maurice Wilkins used, and was extremely viable in all three of their research, was a direct result of work carried out by Rosalind Franklin while at King s College in London. From these photographs, or x rays, she was able to draw a logical conclusion to the basic dimensions of DNA strands. Rosalind actually presented these findings at a lecture in King s College at which one of the eventual Prize winners, James Watson, were in attendance. Franklin tried to figure out how the double helix worked but wasn t able to. Without her permission, Franklin s co worker, Maurice Wilkins, secretly showed her photos to the American scientist Watson. He and Francis Crick, his British research partner, were trying to build a DNA model. When Watson saw the photographs, he realized that DNA is a double stranded helix and the two were able to complete the model. In 1953, the same year Rosalind left Cambridge, both Wilkins and Franklin published papers on their X ray data in the same journal issue with Watson and Crick s paper on the structure of DNA. Neither published paper gave credit to the photo that would eventually help, if not become the breakthrough they needed in their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

No, it was calming the light reminded him all to well of the flickering of the villagers torches. Naruto never really asked for much. Yes, there were days when he would demand another bowl of ramen from the Old Man, but it was more for the company than for the food. The Old Man always seemed to have something wise to say. Like now, as Naruto felt around the darkness, the Old Man was telling him to never be afraid of it the shadows were a shinobi s friend and lifesaver. • 44. Hard Water Lab Report Essay Lab Report: Hard Water Purpose: The purpose of this lab is to determine whether a liquid is hard water or not. Background: Hard water is the water that has a high amount of mineral in it, usually Ca2+ and Mg+. These cations enter the source of water by leaching from minerals within a wet underground layer of water bearing rock, or an aquifer. According to the WHO, hard water is not harmful to human s health but it s a serious problem in the water industry. Household plumbing and appliances are also greatly affected by hard water conditions. Some of the effects include clogged pipes, water heater inefficiency and hard scaling. Hard water is also linked to decreased water flow or water pressure and seized (frozen) valves in faucets, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Chemistry Workbook , page 52 53. Relatively, how much more? The well water from Wilton has a larger amount of Ca 2+/Mg 2+ compared to the Elk Grove tap water. Relatively, it s approximately twice harder because 28 drops of EDTA is added to Wilton well water in order to make it turns blue while it only take 16 drops to changes color of Elk Grove tap water. 2) EDTA is often added to shampoo. Can you suggest why? EDTA is added to shampoo to take away the calcium and magnesium that exists. The shampoo will then lather and creates more bubbles; that s greater to bathe in. 3) Pots and pans used for boiling water often develop a coating of scale in homes that use hard water. What might this scale be? The scale might be magnesium and calcium. After the water reaches its boiling point, all the water molecules would turns into gas evaporates, left the solid magnesium and calcium at the bottom of the pans. 4) Why might the water of one region be much harder than another? The water of different region has different hardness level because water comes from different sources of underground aquifers. The amount of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If lightsabers are being built in the futcher I believe they will be the second strongest thing on the planet they could cut thru the hardest of materials with 1,600,000,000 joules of energy the only thing stronger is a nuke with 41,800,000,000,000,000 joules of energy no jedi can block that without the force . He believes that there are critical differences between change efforts that have been successful, and change efforts that have failed. What interests him is why some people are able to get their organizations to change dramatically while most do not. John P. Kotter writes: Over the past decade, I have watched more than a hundred companies try to remake themselves into significantly better competitors. They have included large organizations (Ford) and small ones (Landmark Communications), companies based in United States (General Motors) and elsewhere (British Airways), corporations that ...
