A woman as fanciful and dreamy as this in such a position is not going to survive.
As we continue to read this novella we must notice the governess wild and unnecessary use of
elaborate adjectives to describe the simplest of things. Her style of writing in itself is quite
romantic and poetic, full of metaphors and oxymorons. However sometimes her choice of
words is so prompting we must take a closer look into perhaps a double or triple meaning. When
she first sights the ghost of Peter Quint on top of the house she is able to describe his position
with amazing precision in note of the fact she was some distance from him and her sighting was
quite brief. She comments he stood at an angle, tall and erect... he fixed me with a hard gaze and
when yet again she confides in Mrs Grouse she gives a very elaborate description commenting on
his tight red curls, pale face, long in shape, small tiny whickers, darker arched eyebrows and the
fact that he had no hat . The governess even uses phrases such as the intercourse of our
conversation added to the intensity of our meeting in description of everyday things such as normal
conversation. The governess certainly has deeper meaning behind most of her words.
The last and most important point in regards to the governess repressed sexual desires is her highly

A different argument for self identification comes from an old social norm developed during the
era of slavery known as the one drop rule. This rule states that a multiracial person is assigned to
the race with the lowest social standing among the races represented. Going off of previous
history and other social norms, the hierarchy would be as follows: non Hispanic white, Asian,
Latinos, and lastly black. When forcing a youth to choose between one of their multiple races,
those with some black or Latino heritage are far more likely to report being black or Latino than
those with white or Asian heritage are to report being white or Asian (Herman 2009). Herman s
study in 2009 examines the difference in grades between students of mixed races. Her ultimate
conclusion is that self identification is the main indicating factor in academic achievement.
Students possessing black or Latino ancestry are associated with decreased grades whereas
students with white or Asian ancestry tend to do better. However, she also looked at the difference
in grades between students of the same biracial category who self identify differently. Those who
identify as Asian or white do significantly better in school than those who identify as black or
Latino. An interesting conclusion from the study shows that where there is a difference between
those who identify as Asian and those who identify as white, there is almost no difference in if the

The fast food industry has grown over the past years, and now a new type of food service has
arise in the form of gas stations. Wawa and Sheetz are these new dominators, who strive on
providing quick service and great food. Since these are success stories, other gas stations have
tried to replicate these companies but have not struck the consumer as much as Wawa and Sheetz.
The consumer fanbase for each company is extreme. Fans of Wawa have been known to get the
logo tattooed on their biceps, and fans of Sheetz call themselves sheetzfreaks and sometimes linger

However, both companies have been able to combine these aspects which is attractive to many
consumers. Perhaps looking at the history of both companies can lead some insight to this
transformation. Sheetz was founded in 1952 in Altoona, Pennsylvania, and began to spread out as
primarily convenience stores. In 1972 the company had expanded to seven to fourteen stores, and
a year later Sheetz added gasoline pumps. It was in 1995 that Sheetz began to introduce
touchscreen ordering and their food and beverage products, offering high quality food at a gas

While corruption isn t always the reason for gaining power, it can become the reason why certain

My own experiences having raised three children, two girls and a boy have shown that access by

For the second restaurant, it was a pretty good one like the first one. I d have to say the thing I
liked the most about it was the dessert. I new I had to get a dessert because I haven t got a
dessert all trip and the waitress recommended it so why not. I was very full from what I had to
eat before but when the menu said the ice cream was the top in the country I knew it had to be
somewhat good. It s costed $10 but was the best ice cream I ve probably ever ate. Zach said the
same but London, Drew, and Chris were to full to eat dessert. Overall the food wasn t as good as
Ficus Restaurante but both were delicious.

The Help: A Discussion of Reality Kathryn Stockett s The Help is a novel set in 1960s Jackson,
Mississippi and follows the lives of two black maids, Minny and Aibileen, and a privileged young
white woman, Eugenia Skeeter Phelan. Together these three women set out to compile a book
explaining how it is to work as a black maid in Jackson. While some critics argue The Help
perpetuates black stereotypes and confines black women into Mammy roles, the novel actually
promotes discussion of racial issues faced in the 1960 by black maids in a realistic manner
without confining black women to a racist role. One of the novel s most common criticisms is the

In fact the character with the most noticeable change is Minny. At the beginning of the novel,
Minny is closed off, in constant fear of losing her job and stuck in an abusive marriage. Even
when she decides to help Skeeter with her book, Minny remains guarded and almost reluctant to
tell her everything. Yet, at the end of the novel, Minny not only is noticeably relaxed around
Skeeter, but even offers her life advice such as running her white butt to New York when Skeeter
gets offered her dream job (Stockett 499). Minny also leaves her abusive husband, Leroy, after a
particular volatile attack that leaves her standing barefoot and [at] rock bottom [at] the gas
station, when she realizes that for the first time in her life, she has a secure job, Leroy s once
needed support is now gone, and that she has the potential to be so much more than an abused
wife (515). Minny Jackson is the pinnacle of development among the three narrators of the novel,
and yet ABWH claims Skeeter is the main character. Another example is Aibileen, who at the
beginning feels she does not have much left to offer in her older age, claims in the final few lines

composers and musicians of his time, he was also a scholar, a mystic, and a priest.
