2. Amanda Reaume Book Report
This book is divided into four parts with their individual chapters. In the first part called Making it, it
contained the aspects of internships, jobs, self employment and freelancing, and side hustles. The
author, Amanda Reaume, introduces the first part of the book questioning ask the readers what will
they do next after they realize they spent thousands on a great education. She inserts on the different
ways of making it into the real world. The first chapter discusses the difference between paid and
unpaid internships. Paid internships, of course, are getting paid for working at a minimum price, trying

work, work for your professor, and get a cool work study job. Next, she smoothly transitions to the
topic of jobs in the next section. To land an interview, Reaume suggest to have some type of
network/connection with the people in the company one is applying for (basically start kissing up) and

questions, and always be confident. Another aspect she touched base on was how to be a superstar

Plot
The plot or sequence of a story is the order in which events in a story take place and how these events
are related to one another. The integral components of a plot include: the exposition, the climax, the
conflict and the resolution.
The beginning of the story or the exposition may be defined as the insight the author gives the
audience concerning the location or time in which the story is set and the characters in the story. The
information provided usually aids the audience in better understanding the behaviors and actions of
the characters in the story. For example, in the fairy tale Bluebeard, the author begins by describing
Bluebeard. Through this description, the audience notices that an element of mystery surrounds him.
Conflict often arises when two parties have conflicting or different opinions on a given matter. In this
folktale, conflict arose between Bluebeard and his wife. Upon returning to his home, he notices his
wife s reluctance in returning his set of keys to him. As a result, he deduces that she must have opened

4. Food Security Is A Basic Human Right, Essential For Life
Food security is considered as a basic human right, essential for life. It exists when all people, at all
times, have physical and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food to meet their dietary
needs and food preferences for a healthy and active lifestyle [Food Agricultural Organization (FAO),
1996]. Food insecurity can refer to not having sufficient food; experiencing hunger as a result of
running
out of food and being unable to afford more; eating a poor quality diet as a result of limited food
options;
anxiety about acquiring food; or having to rely on food relief (Rychetnik, Webb, Story, Kat, 2003).
Although the United States population is considered food secure as a whole, with 85.7% being food
secure (Coleman Jensen, Gregory Singh, 2014), pockets of food insecurity have been identified
among
sub populations such as single parent households (34.4%), people at social or geographical
disadvantage (26%), the homeless and the young (Rychetnik, Webb, Story, Kat, 2003; Innes Hughes,
Bowers, King, Chapman, Eden, 2010).
According to National Center for Education Statistics (2013), enrollment of students 18 24 years in
degree granting institutions increased from 15.9 million in 2001 to 21 million in 2011. Many students

5. Effects Of Second Hand Vehicles In The Zimbabwean Economy
INTRODUCTION
The Zimbabwean economy is nose diving and experiencing huge cash shortages of the currency in
circulation ,this is being seen as the banks are now rationing the payments, giving each individual
about $100 per day and sometimes less or no cash , also money is now not easily accessible from
mobile bankers like eco cash, telecash and one wallet, this is being caused by the imports which are
outweighing the exports and among these imports there is the importation of second hand cars which
is seen to have dominated the imports of Zimbabwe. In 2013 between January and November the
Zimbabweans imported about 206 519 cars worth over $606 million (ZIMSTATS,The Herald 23 April
2014).Thus the importation of second hand vehicles is worsening the trade deficit that is already
unfavorable as in 2013 the budget deficit stood at $3billion(ZIMSTAT).
Willowvale Mazda Motor Industry s production slumped from 18 000 vehicles per year in 1997 to
below 4 000 vehicles and stopped producing in 2012 (Zimbabwe Independent 22 May 2015),this was
mainly due to the importation of second hand vehicles by the Zimbabweans as they were less costly
and complied with their budgets, the other players such as Quest motors and Croco motors in the
automobile sector are being affected in the same manner leading to unemployment due to low capacity
utilization in these companies as the demand new vehicles was estimated to be 25 000(Zimbabwe
Independent 22 May 2015).

Leister to increase Baldwin s purchasing, inventorying, and production costs over and above the added
costs that would be incurred for a comparable increase in volume for Baldwin s regular products. On
the positive side, Ms. Leister was acutely aware that the bicycle boom had flattened out, and this plus
a poor economy had caused Baldwin s sales volume to fall in the past two years.1 As a result, Baldwin
currently was operating its plant at about 75% of a one shift capacity. Thus, the added volume from Hi
Valu s purchases could possibly be very attractive. If agreement could be reached on prices, Hi Valu
would sign a contract guaranteeing to Baldwin that Hi Valu would buy its own brand bicycles only
from Baldwin for a three year period. The contract would then be automatically extended on a year to
year basis, unless one party gave the other at least three months notice that it did not wish to extend
the contract. Suzanne Leister realized she needed to do some preliminary financial analysis of this
proposal before having any further discussions with Karl Knott. She had written on a pad the
information she had gathered to use in her initial analysis; this information is shown in Exhibit 2. 1
The American bicycle industry is very volatile. From 1967 to 1970 sales average about 7 million units
a year; in 1973 sales were 15 million units; in 1975 sales were back down to 7.5 million units and in
1982 sales were 10 million units. 2 EXHIBIT 1:

8. Mobile Phones And Mobile Technology
In a remarkably short period of time, Cell phones and mobile technology have become omnipresent in
the day to day life in Bangladesh. People around the country are using their cell phones for a variety
of purposes, especially for calling, texting and taking pictures as well as social awareness raising,
literacy training and skill development. The rapid expansion of mobile phone network has been
accompanied by a growing emphasis on providing more cellular based services and promoting
efficiency and financial sustainability. The recent addition to the list is the mobile banking service.
Literature Review
Mobile technologies are changing economic life in rural areas of Bangladesh, where many people are
using cell phones for a range of financial transactions, such as receiving and sending money transfers.
Indeed, mobile banking is already being used by banks and mobile network operators to provide
millions of unbanked consumers in rural areas as a way to store and access money digitally. The
limited information available suggests that mobile banking is helping these people by providing access
to financial services and the ability to pay and be paid electronically sometimes for the first time in
their lives. Mobile banking allow unbanked people to use their phones as a bank account: to deposit,
withdraw and transfer money with their handset. People can also use mobile systems to pay utility
bills and pay for goods in merchant shops.

11. Google Is Not A Conventional Company
As Sergey and I wrote in the original founders letter 11 years ago, Google is not a conventional
company. We do not intend to become one. As part of that, we also said that you could expect us to
make smaller bets in areas that might seem very speculative or even strange when compared to our
current businesses. From the start, we ve always strived to do more, and to do important and
meaningful things with the resources we have.
We did a lot of things that seemed crazy at the time. Many of those crazy things now have over a
billion users, like Google Maps, YouTube, Chrome, and Android. And we haven t stopped there. We
are still trying to do things other people think are crazy but we are super excited about.
We ve long believed that over time companies tend to get comfortable doing the same thing, just
making incremental changes. But in the technology industry, where revolutionary ideas drive the next
big growth areas, you need to be a bit uncomfortable to stay relevant.
Our company is operating well today, but we think we can make it cleaner and more accountable. So
we are creating a new company, called Alphabet. I am really excited to be running Alphabet as CEO
with help from my capable partner, Sergey, as President.
What is Alphabet? Alphabet is mostly a collection of companies. The largest of which, of course, is
Google. This newer Google is a bit slimmed down, with the companies that are pretty far afield of our
main internet products contained in Alphabet

12. The Generation X And Generation Y
In this study, the most interesting insight I read that the article distinguishes two generations,
generation X and generation Y, they have varied on expectation of life. Additionally, the employer
should realize to diversities of employee personality in the organization, which might contribute to
making a conflict in teamwork such as having the different attitude, not understanding in other
characteristics, confident of subconscious and so on. The generation X, who is composed of the parent
of generation Y (born between 1965 and 1981), this generation has an optimistic aspect, and also
prefer having life balances with working hard. In contrast, the generation Y (born between 1982 and
2000), the generation Y (born between 1982 and 2000), who grew up with enslavement by technology
and have more independent (Susaeta et al. 2013). So, I have comprehended the key which might
helpful to make deduction of working in the future.
However, I think the personal behavior depends on education developmental, nation cultural and the
environment where is they grew up, especially the influence of family affects to new generation
thinking. As can be seen in the study of the authors of attitude to work shows that the means for
attitudes to work both for individuals in generation X and Y are slightly different, it might because of
the nation cultural. For example , Thai cultural is always taught young people that they should respect

In the opinion of Henry Jenkins
Participatory culture shifts the focus of literacy from individual expression to community involvement
Jenkins et al (2009, pg6).
Using this explanation, this essay underlines the matters of how the entertainment industries has taken
full control through social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. Furthermore, it also typifies
how such industries emphasis significantly into its logics and practices through its audience and fan
participation. Supported Research is justified by various theorists/examples. This includes Prensky,

According to Jenkins Convergence Culture: Where Old and New Media Collide , It spectacles that the
entertainment industry has taken the advantage of harnessing New Media on traditional formats by
focussing on the logistics and practices. This evidently helps to increase the popularity and the
availability of audience participation through the use of updated technology. This is denoted through
old technological formats via applying new interactive media to heighten the participation for
numerous audiences. For instance, back in the day many industries i.e. entertainment had to depend on
broadcasting and radio for the viewers to receive their audio or visual content. To do these industries
had to send out signals globally through a large transmitter so that people can receive their content.

An external applicant would not know of the debate and decision of deciding between the two jobs

benefit due to the fact that if Archer chooses one of the positions, either Kessel or Mangini will have
hard feelings towards Archer or the other party who she decided to take the job. Mangini made the
decision seem as a competition when he challenged Kessel to win Archer s decision. Kessel should
appeal emotionally to the benefits of the position to Archer. Kessel s position is one that is a long term
career move where she would have longevity with the company with the opportunity to move upward
within the organization. This position also gives her the leadership opportunity that she desires, as
well as nominal travel. She would be basically stationary which would be very welcome to her after
her long stint of extensive travel for RetailMax. This case study allowed for a real possible situation in
the realm of leadership. I was able to analyze the situation with enough information to form an
opinion, scenario and outcome for Archer, Mangini and Kessel. I feel this was a touchy and difficult
situation and the ultimate decision was Archer s. This exercise allowed me to see how difficult some
decisions are at the highest level of leadership.

Will Rogers, another famous comedic director, known for his political satire was a huge hit amongst
audiences. Films such as Judge Priest, where he played a rustic politician, was a fan favorite amongst

Mafia films were the type of films Hollywood continued to produce at this time. Gangster characters
were characters that American citizens could compare themselves too. There was a hint of patriotism
in every Gangster film that thrilled audiences. The passion to take away from the rich and give to the
poor. Movies such as Little Ćeaser, Scarface and Public Enemy were all classic hits that made stars

Although gangster films were a hit with the mainstream audiences, it wasn t with the Protestant and

guidelines for production studios to adhere to. The code was never carried out until 1934, when the
Production Code Administration was founded. They required all films and even scripts, be pre

This was done under the administration of Joseph Breen, who took over for the Hays office after 1934.

19. Synopsis Of Panera s A Fairly Newfangled Restaurant Segment
Randall Lewis
Professor Doucette
MGMT 479
07 November 2016
Synopsis
Panera is said to be the benchmark of a relatively newfangled restaurant segment titled fast casual.
Nevertheless, the effective origin of this unbeatable amalgamation of organizations and concepts
humbly embarked on the scene way back in the mid 1970 s, as an oven manufacturing firm s
demonstration bakery (Wheelen 16 2). The French based brand name of Panera s elder: Au Bon Pain,
translates to where good bread is; and as it turned out, this tucked away industrial R D implement was
just too good to keep a secret. Hence, throughout the next few years, the fledgling concept eatery tried
its luck with a multitude of Boston area locations; and then in 1981, a young Ronald Shaich, owner of
Boston s new Cookie Jar Bakery got together with Au Bon Pain s, Louis Kane, and merged the two
companies together as the Au Bon Pain Co. Shaich and Kane ran the enterprise, together, until Kane s
retirement in 1996 (Wheelen 16 2).
A pivotal breakthrough transpired in 1985, when they began observing that their customers were
buying the company s bread and commencing to construct their own sandwiches (Wheelen 16 2).
Sandwiches were then swiftly added to the regular menu, at the bakery chain, spawning a novel
conception in the restaurant experience landing squarely between fast food and fine dining (Wheelen
16 2). Shaich and Kane differentiated Au Bon Pain, putting forth a wholly unconventional

Employees can recognize their strengths and weaknesses though this method of assessment. The paper
will look at the mistakes that people make in formulating a 360 degree feedback and appropriate use
of the 360 degree performance evaluation test. Scenario 1 For a 360 degree feedback to be effective
and efficient as a performance appraisal test, managers should be able to invest time in the
development process of the assessment, analysis of data collected (Campion, Campion, Campion,

influence of the recency effects they can fail to consider the period that they being evaluated. Wilson,
2014, suggests that the participants must undergo training to have a credible 360 degree test. In the
above scenario, there might be cases of biases among the top official; some feel that they do not want
to fail each other. Though the management has identified that there are discrepancies in the leadership
skills the results state otherwise. Therefore, such situations can occur in this type of test because of
people might also offer comments that favour all the supervisors.
Scenario 3
The multi rater feedback is a tool that people to acquire rich, accurate perspective on how others see
the management practices, effectiveness and interpersonal designs (Taylor, Chappelow, Fleenor,
2008). It is meant for performance. Int the above scenario, the firm s primary objective was to
improve the competitiveness, that decision to undertake the 360 degree feedback just because they
come to a realization that leadership skills and communications patterns are the primary cause of the
less nature of competitiveness is not the ultimate solution. Multi rater test that managers perform to
change the performance level of the workers can affect the objectives of the organizations. Hence,

25. Md International
MD International is a private company that distributes medical equipment to government institutions,
agencies, and hospitals in countries located in Latin America and Caribbean. The main reasons why
MD International decided to work with this region were the falling trade barriers and governments
investments on the healthcare Industry. Companies that act as intermediaries between buyers and
sellers of different countries, such as MD International, provide a variety of valuable services for their
vendors. Vendors can rely on MD International because they have a deep knowledge and
understanding on the Latin America market and the regulations they need to comply with.
Additionally, manufacturers can increase their sales and profits without spending the time and
resources they would use if they were to develop a market themselves. They want MD International to
export their products because it helps them bypass government rules and regulations, market research,
and other costs that could arise. By giving MD International the power to export their products, they
focus more on manufacturing.

exporting increases. Creating more jobs directly impact the whole Economy in a positive manner as
unemployment decreases. Also, the government can get money back as it earns interest over time, and

26. Though the agreement and acknowledgement from both sides...
Though the agreement and acknowledgement from both sides was a great accomplishment, the fault in
the Oslo Accords was lack of action and enforcement, leading way into accusations from both sides.
While it is important for both sides to be careful, a peace talk strong enough to mend the schism
between Israel and Palestine should be clear in its wording, and the agreements should be enforced.
Both sides unresolved conflicts over land, refugees, education, and terrorism prevent any progress
from being made. An attempt to establish peace without resolution of these problems will result in
failure, proven in past negotiation efforts. The core sources of the Israeli Palestinian conflict should be
the focus of the peace talks. It is integral ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Palestinians, in peace talks, have proposed balanced land swaps as well ( Middle East peace ). If
both sides negotiate with open minds, compromise can be made. Because of lack of enforcement,
peace agreements that should have worked have failed. Both sides still struggle over matters that,
according to negotiations of the past, should not exist.
However, this is not the end to the struggle between the two states. Though some controversies, such
as land, are fairly straightforward, others are not. Apprehensions about security and refugees are main
concerns of Israel. Allowing refugees could result in a possible change of demographic to a
Palestinian majority. As a people that have been persecuted throughout history, the Jewish have an
extremely legitimate reason to have safety and security a top priority. They desire a homeland free of
jeopardy. Palestinian organizations in the past (and present, involving rejectionist groups such as the
Hamas) have wanted the destruction of Israel as a state ( Negotiations). Israel accuses Palestine of not
taking action against these terrorist groups, and fears that in the future, a Palestinian state could be
overtaken by one. Palestine believes that a two state solution is actually necessary for security. Though
both sides have many concerns, to make decisions and statements based on general, wide assumptions
is also incredibly dangerous for both sides, and prevents progress. All

27. Frida
In the film, Frida (Taymor, 2002), Salma Hayek portrays the role of the iconic Mexican painter, Frida
Kahlo, as she pursues her passion for art and navigates through the tumultuous relationship with
Diego Rivera. Manifesting such a complex historical figure was a difficult task because of the range of
age and emotion of the character, which were both needed in the actress who played her. To this effect,
Salma Hayek s personal properties and performance in this film contributed to her ability to represent
a realistic version of Frida Kahlo and to the subjects of love and ability to express oneself through art;
furthermore, Salma brings out the contrasting themes brought about by the difference in her
performance of a teenage Frida Kahlo versus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, the difference in action between how Salma acts around Alex versus Diego exemplifies her
ability to differentiate between a young Frida and an adult Frida. These differences allow for two
different perspectives on the overall theme of love and art. The ability of an actor to embody a
character of a historical figure, as Salma does, is an extraordinary talent because no one conjured up
the character in their mind. The actor has to represent a person who actually lived. Therefore it is
important to give respect to that person while emphasizing the meaning of their life. In Salma s case,
she had to emphasize the personality of Frida and relate her relationship and psychological struggles
to those found in her paintings in order to manifest a character that shows how one s perspective on
love and art affects their quality. By repurposing some of the optimism of her youth to a realist view of
the world, Salma showed that Frida s life was more than just a cautionary

28. St. John the Baptist Preaching by Mattia Preti
Times of religious upheaval and need for urbanization following the Renaissance gave rise to the
production of lavish artworks during the Baroque era in Italy. Characterized by intense emotion and
dynamism, Baroque art reflected the power of Roman antiquity but typified the renewed piety of
Roman Catholics. The opulent urbanization projects patronized by the church culminated in the
verisimilitude of Baroque paintings. One painting that reflects such change is Saint John the Baptist
Preaching by Mattia Preti, also known as Il Calabrese. Preti was born in 1613 in Taverna, Calabria to a
modest family with ecclesiastical connections. Preti was well traveled around Italy and was exposed to
artworks from the likes of Correggio, Mantegna, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His pointing hand reminds the audience of the reward waiting in heaven and the salvation the church
promises with continued commitment to the Catholic doctrine.
Aside from linear perspective, Calabrese incorporates other geometrical forms throughout the
composition. One is the circle at the foreground of the painting, which Calabrese offers the audience
to complete. More outstanding is the triangle that occupies the majority of the space. John s body,
parallel to his staff, begs the viewer to trace the triangle from his eyes, across the woman and the lamb
in the foreground, up the staff, and through to his hand. This triangle is significant in its symbolism of
the Holy Trinity: God the Father, God the Holy Spirit, and God the Son. The message here is clear;
through Jesus, the lamb, one will be saved. It is also interesting that Calabrese places John between
the lamb and his hand. It coincides with the paintings function as an altar piece in that John serves as
an intercessor to the Divine. Through him, one has access to Jesus, and therefore God. The
geometrical lines and shapes add to the painting s dynamism and contribute to the optimistic promise
the painting conveys.
Stylistically, his painting is an example of the smooth manner, characterized by fine technique in the
portrayal of illusionistic form. In this painting, Calabrese uses strong directional lighting from the top,
left corner of the painting to highlight the scene. It is Caravagesque in the way

29. The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein Essay
The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein The Giving Tree is a modern children literature written by Shel
Silverstein, which is also one of his first successful piece of work. It is about an apple tree who always
gives and gives and a boy who always takes and takes. This might be another story to read before bed
times for the kids but however, it portrays so many things, from deforestation to modern society.
Personally, I believe that The Giving Tree portrays the theme of selflessness versus selfishness, like
the unconditional love a parent has for his or her child. I have only leaves and apples. Take my apples,
Boy, and sell them in the city. Then you will be happy. And so the boy climbed up the tree and
gathered her apples and carried ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The boy on the other hand is like us, the children who are used to receiving and receiving, so much
that we take it for granted, so sometimes, we tend to forget to think about the tree or our parents.
Blessed is the mother who is able to help her child, at whatever age. This truth about parental
happiness is surly known by any loving parents who has been compelled to watch impotently while
his child is suffering. The example to prove this statement can be seen all through the story. The forest
is my house, but you may cut of my branches and build a house. Then you will be happy. And so the
boy cut of her branches and carried them away to build his house. And the tree was happy. On the
other hand, the boy still stays inconsiderate and selfish. He never even once mention to the tree how
thankful he is or even a simply thank you . The love of the tree for the boy or the man is a selfless
love, while the love of the boy for the tree is a selfish love. The boy never tries to help the tree (by
pruning, feeding it, et cetera), while the entire being of the tree is devoted to helping the boy meet his
most recent need, whether trivial or essential. Due to the popularity of the book, many people
commented on it and so there are many different ideas, which can be view differently according to the
readers own judgement. The boy is after all doing what is required of human being to do: he is

30. Cultural Issues Created by the Prohibition Era.
While the prohibition movement of the early twentieth century was brought on with a wholesome and
moral mindset, the economic, political, and cultural factors relating to its origins and enactment
untimely doomed it for failure. Such groups as the Women s Christian Temperance Union and the
progressive party argued that drinking was the cause of political corruption, crime, bad labor
conditions, and a declining sense of family values. These groups protests and rallies gained enormous
support quickly for a constitution amendment as early as 1913 with the Jubilee Convention. Before the
Eighteenth Amendment officially declared the U.S as a dry country, prohibition was already in effect
in a majority of states and counties. By the time the amendment took effect in January of 1920, three
of every four Americans lived in a dry county; and due to the enactment of the Webb Kenyon Act of
1913 outlawing the shipment of alcohol into dry states, the amendment caused little change in the
lives of many Americans. Many hoped that prohibition would be the moral reform that would
regenerate society; however, it resulted in more corruption and organized crime. Unperceived
economic factors relating to bootlegging, taxes, and police enforcement heavily contributed to the
demise of the prohibition era. As soon as the eighteenth amendment took effect a ring of bootlegging
and organized gangs emerged. In addition to many of these bootleggers brewing their own moonshine
to sell, several

Development of Building Codes in
South Korea
Glen Stricot Tarboton
Due 23rd March 2016
Introduction
Seoul, South Korea, has grown rapidly since the Korean War of the 1950 s to become the worlds
second largest metropolitan area with over 23 million residents in 2014 (National Statistics Office ( 통
계청)). This growth has occurred economically as well, with an average GDP increase of 10 percent
between 1962 and 1994 (The World Bank). This report looks into the development of South Korean
building codes. Figure 1: Timeline of Significant Events in South Korea s Building History The 1970 s
oil crisis occurred when an oil embargo was imposed by members of the Organization of Arab
Petroleum Exporting Countries. This led to fuel shortages and high prices around the world
(History.com). Due to Korea s limited resources, it imports all of its coal, oil and natural gas. At the
time of the United States Department of Energy s report into Building Energy Codes in the Republic
of Korea, Korea was the second largest importer of coal and one of the largest for oil and natural gas.
It also reported an emission of 515 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide by the country in the year 2006
(Evans, Chon and Shui).
Early Building Standards
The first official building standard came into effect in 1977. It was a result of the 1970 s oil crisis.
This outlined the mandatory building standards of insulation thickness.

32. Vladimir Lenin Impact On Russia
Vladimir Lenin was a dedicated revolutionary who impacted Russia greatly from 1917 24, due to his
motivations of wanting to achieve a social utopian society. Lenin s ideology was inspired by Karl
Marx s theory of communism. Lenin created his own version of communism, Leninism, as Marx
stated that communism can only be achieved in a developed country, which Russia was not during this
time as peasants made up 84% of the population compared to the 4% that was the working class.
Lenin was able to change certain aspects in Russia such as the economy, society and the government
while in power.

Lenin relied on fear and terror to control the citizens of Russia. This lead to the establishment of the
Cheka in December 1917, which was the secret police that made sure consequences were given to
those who opposed the Bolshevik party and were considered as threats to the party. The Red Terror
was created in September 1918 to maintain political control. The Cheka was very similar to the secret
police the Tsar had called the Ohkrana, however the Cheka were more efficient and organised. Lenin
ended Russification, which was the idea that everyone had to speak Russian and believe in the
Church. This meant that the population had freedom of religion, providing that they put communism
before their beliefs. One of Lenin s greatest quotes from the April Thesis was Bread, Peace, Land .
Due to this, Lenin created the Land Decree, which meant that land was given back to the peasants and
also signed the Treaty of Brest Litovsk to end the war between Germany and Russia during World War
I (1914 1918) and created peace within Russia. Peace however, was not fulfilled as shortly after the
treaty was signed, civil war occurred in Russia. Richard Pipes, a historian, stated that the April Thesis,
were not in touch with reality if not simply mad . This indicates that Pipes believed that Lenin s
promises were impossible to achieve during 1917. Lenin also introduced education to all Russians,
