Gentrification In Houston Texas
The Third Ward of Houston Texas is a historic district known mainly for two things being rich in
African American history and its exceedingly high crime rates. While this part of town has always
been a solid representation of African American culture when desegregation occurred all families
that could afford to quickly moved to the wealthy parts of the cityleaving the district nearly
abandoned. Naturally following the abandonment of the district most businesses followed leaving
low income residents with little to no job opportunities. A popular phenomenon that has arose
recently in urban cities such as these (due to its raving success in cities such as Chicago) is
gentrification. Gentrification is the renovation of these high crime low income areas in the hopes
of creating a better neighborhood. However, one of the unforeseen side effects of gentrification is
the displacement of the low income residents who can no longer afford to live in this nicer
neighborhood. Gentrification specifically in HoustonTexas is a tool that is may seem valuable

However, this can displace people who have called the third ward home for years. Another possible
explanation for this generations interest in gentrification is the popular subculture known as the
hipster . Often known for their idolization of thing ironic, retro or authentic the hipster culture has
taken an interest in these urban cities not only as a way of obtaining cheap housing but also as
somewhat of a fashion statement. But the only irony here is that their interest in a more authentic
motif is actually hurting the authenticity they so

Comparing Leonardo Da Vinci with Michelangelo
Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo Buonarroti were, and still are considered to be two of the
greatest minds, even geniuses of the Renaissance. But which one is more of a genius than the
other? Leonardo Da Vinci was born on April 15th, 1452, son to a notary called Ser Piero. Ser
Pier has sex with a woman called Catarina, which resulted in her pregnancy. For a believed reason
that Catarina was the Daughter of a farmer, they never got married. Ser Pier later married another
woman, when he was 25, which is the time Leonardo was born. As for Michelangelo, he was born
on March 6, 1475, to a father called Ludovico, and a mother named Francesca, who was not
capable of taking care of him. She sent her son to a family of stone cutters, and whose... Show more

they are very different as well.
Michelangelo had his very own aspects which made him a unique person. Michelangelo was a
person brilliant in sculptures only. On august 4, 1983, Pope Julius II Della Rovere told
Michelangelo to paint the Sistine Chapel. Although never experienced with paint, especially fresco
painting, he painted the whole ceiling by himself, standing up while most painters that painted
ceilings did it lying on their backs. He asked his old friend Francesco Granacci to help him, as
well as four other fresco painters. However, when he saw that they weren t as good as he
thought, and have the imagination he wanted, he dismissed them and continued by himself. All
he had was two men that helped make the paint. Michelangelo was very bad at mathematics, and
languages. He failed to learn how to speak Latin, which was taught to most nobles in Italy. After
being taught by Ghirlandaio, he soon excelled to being even better than his teacher, and walking
his own path and trying new things. Rock is one of the hardest objects to work, and craft with.
However, for Michelangelo, he turned a piece of dull marble, or other rock, into a work of art. It

The queen then offers him a green girdle, which she claims has the ability to shield the wearer

Reverend Thomas, Robert Malthus
Reverend Thomas, Robert Malthus
(b. February 13 or 14, 1766; d. December, 1834)
Overview
Reverend Thomas, Robert Malthus was a political/classical economist born in the late 1760 s. He
studied at several different schools in the areas of mathematics, literature, and arts. Malthus was
married in the early 1800 s and had three children. Malthus is most famous for his theories on
population growth and how he proposed we go about controlling it. He later died in the 1830 s at
the age of 68.
Childhood and Education
Thomas Malthus, more commonly called Robert, was born near Guildford, Surrey, England. His
parents, Daniel and Henrietta, had seven children in total with Malthus being either the sixth or
seventh in the line (different sources claim both as true). Malthus and his siblings received their
preliminary education at home working with private tutors where he excelled primarily in
literature and mathematics despite the fact that he had a speech impediment due to a hair lip and
cleft palate. His tutor, Daniel Malthus, sent him to study with Richard Graves at Claverton for a
short while before sending him to Gilbert Wakefield at the Dissenting Academy of Warrington in
1782. However, in 1783 the Warrington was closed due to funding issues and a decline in
students. There was, however, an attempt at reviving the school in 1784 but was formally
dissolved in 1786. In 1784 Malthus was admitted to Jesus College in Cambridge, where he studied
under William Frend and graduated in

A Rose for Emily vs Killings Essay
English 2010
March 20, 2013
A Rose for Emily vs Killings The story A Rose for Emily was written by William Faulkner. The
other story I am using to compare and contrast with is Killings written by Andre Dubus. These
stories are similar in plot and theme. Both of these stories deal with murder, love and revenge.
Though, love and murder are presented in different ways in the two stories. The main character
in both these stories are of the opposite sex and they are both the protagonist. A Rose for Emily
is about a women named Emily Grierson and her mysterious life as a southern belle. While
Killings is based on a man named Matt Fowler who commits a bad crime. Faulkner and Dubus start
both short stories A Rose for Emily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Matt is a middle class man who becomes obsessed with the need to get revenge on his son s
death. His son Frank is killed by a man named Richard. He is the husband and dads father of the
women his son is in love with. This is what leads Matt into killing someone he wants pay back for
his son death. Matt kills because he loves.
Emily was obsessed with holding on to the past and to avoid change. When her father dies she is
really sad. She then meets a man named Homer Barron. She is afraid she will lose him too because
he is not the kind of guy to settle down. So if she kills him she could at least still be able to see him
after he is dead because she will keep his dead body in her house. By her keeping the body in the
house it shows she had a hard time of letting go. Emily kills because of her extreme love.
The stories are similar in a way that both characters Matt and Emily kill because of their strong act
of love. They kill out of love for someone. Emily killed Homer because she was afraid to be
alone. As for Matt, he killed for closure for his son s death. This makes the reader sympathize with
the protagonist who show their love by murdering someone.
Another similarity in the stories is both of the characters are about their life styles and reasons for
their actions. Emily and Matt are both seeking revenge. Matt murders Richard and Emily murders
Homer out of revenge. Both character are strong and do what needs to be done. They are the same

Thomas Edison s Monopoly In Film In The 19th Century
In the early years of the 20th century, Thomas Edison s monopoly in film was being constantly
challenged. Amid various patent and copyright infringement lawsuits, Edison sought to preserve his
monopoly by setting up exclusive organizations to cut out his competition. As film transitioned
from a technological novelty to a form of art, Edison s insistence on protecting his patents diverted
his attention from a filmindustry that was rapidly focusing on artistic value, leading directly to his
relegation from the film industry.
Film making has its roots in photography. Over the 19th century, photography was developed as a
scientific tool. In 1878, Eadwaerd Muybridge s The Horse in Motion, which captured the

Dickson had introduced the Mutoscope and Biograph to rival Edison s Kinetoscope and
Kinetograph. Siegmund Lubin founded the Lubin Manufacturing Company with his camera
/projector combination, the Cineograph. Other rival companies included Selig Polyscope Company
and the American Vitagraph Company. The competition was focused around the filming equipment
since it was the primary source of revenue. In 1898, Edison file a suit against Dickson s American
Mutoscope Company for patent infringement on the Kinetograph. A court ruling in 1901 confirmed
the patent infringement that was overturned after an appeal from Dickson in 1902. This reversal
ended Edison s monopoly on the motion picture camera. Edison also fought numerous copyright
battle with Lubin. Up until then, Edison had been copyrighting his films as photographs and
submitting paper prints to the Library of Congress. Motion pictures were not recognized under the
Copyright Act until the Townsend Amendment of 1912. This was the premise Lubin used to dupe
Edison s films. This case set a legal precedent declaring film to be a new form of photography.
However, the duping did not stop here. With increasing legal expenses and the courts inability to
standardize the market, Edison sought out to do it himself leading to the formation of the Motion
Picture Patents Company or the Trust in

Business Law 100
Question (a) Identify the principle of law The principles of law relevant to this question are the
doctrines of intention and consideration. Explain the rules of law The doctrine of intention is an
undertaking by both sides of an agreement to be legally bound either by an informal agreement
such as verbal intention to purchase or act, or a written document stating intention to purchase or
act, which could be in the form of a letter or a written statement as compared to a formal agreement
where a deed is prepared stating the intention of the contract which is signed and witnessed by

Therefore the object of equal exchange is not necessary. In bilateral contracts when two parties
promise to provide consideration to each other the contract becomes valid immediately the
parties exchange promises as the promise to each other is deemed sufficient consideration.
Apply the law to the facts The points of discussion are to consider whether the elements of
intention and consideration have been met to enforce a contract. The intention of both Jamie
and Gina to act is made clear when Gina calls for tenders to build accommodation facilities at her
mine site and Jamie submits a tender, this in itself is not sufficient enough to form a contract as
no promises of exchange have been agreed to or accepted. At this point Jamie has made an offer
to Gina indicating his intention in exchange for a consideration of money and Gina has
indicated her intention, in exchange for goods and services. Gina decides to accept Jamie s
tender and in doing so sends a formal document in the form of a letter to Jamie, stating the terms
and conditions of her acceptance. It is at this point that Gina has accepted Jamie s tender and the
terms of intention and consideration to form a contract have been met by Gina and now relies on
Jamie being able to meet the terms of the contract and giving a formal reply to Gina to complete
the contract. Jamie is going to accept Gina s terms and conditions and does so by

The Inseparable Curtis Brothers In The Outsiders
The Inseparable Curtis Brothers
Is life even possible without parents when you are a teenager? Try raising two younger brothers
on top of that. In S.E. Hinton s book, The Outsiders, Darry Curtis took this duty into his own
hands and tackled it as though he was a father. The Outsiders is a book about a rivalry between
the two sides of town that leads to the death of three kids, two greasers and Soc. Does the sun set
on both sides of town? The main characters in the story, Ponyboy, Sodapop, and Darry Curtis lose
their parents in a car crash and have to adjust to life on their own. The Curtis brothers fear that the
state agency will split them up, but they should not get split because they look out for each other,
push each other, and need each other.
Uniquely, both Darry and Soda focus a lot on Pony s future. In the story, one of the fellow
greasers, Two Bit, says to Ponyboy, You know, the only thing that keeps Darry from bein a Soc
is us. (Hinton 126) The boys have to regulate living life on their own which leads to Darry
dropping the thought of college and working instead to help meet his two younger brothers needs.
Not to mention that Soda dropped out of high school to work and help Darry with bills and such.
Ponyboy says, Darry was too smart to be a greaser. (Hinton 126) Darry is not like the other
greasers, he was a strong athlete and did fine in school. Darry would of probably went to college
if it was not for the passing of his parents. He gave up a lot, but he knew he had to watch out for
his brothers. Darry became the guardian over the boys ensuring that the family had reinforcement.
Correspondingly, Darry wants the most suiting life for his brothers even though Ponyboy
viewed it as Darry nagging at him. In the book, Ponyboy says, Darry did care about me, maybe
as much as he cared about Soda, and because he cared he was trying too hard to make something
of me. ( Hinton 98) The Curtis brothers were all together again following Pony and Johnny
running away. Soda and Darry go to the hospital to see Pony and Darry actually cries. Ponyboy
realizes that Darry does not hate him. Darry says, Listen, with your brains and grades you could get
a scholarship, and we could put you through

Nuclear War Research Paper
Instate violence has decreased in recent decades when it comes to nuclear war, but small arms war
is still wide spread. More wars have had the use of guns than the use of nuclear weapons. More
people have been killed in wars because of guns than because of nuclear weapons. However, more
people can be killed in an instant by nuclear weapons whereas when you use a gun, more people
can be killed in a span of a few months. It is also easier and cheaper to get a gun than it is to make
and use a nuclear weapon. Terrorists are scary with a gun or a box cutter, but imagining ISIS or Al
Qaeda with a nuclear weapon would cause the utmost terror across America.
Liberalists and their conflicts are driven by issues like scarcity and survivability. An example
would be Hugo Chavez s regime in Venezuela. They fight over access to resources or control of the
government. Realists believe that you cannot trust anyone in an anarchic society. Problems with
realistic theory lay on factors of offensive and defensive advantage and the ability to tell the
difference between those two. Some examples would be WWI and the use of the machine gun and
how no one would think that Canada and the United States ... Show more content on

Wars are usually fought for getting resources or based on ideologies or religion. Democratic
institutions may sway public opinion, but this still may not result in future wars. Domestic order is

We need to identify different domestic interests that value the cost of war differently. The
government itself can be an actor that can have interests in threatening or starting a war.
Democratic peace tries to explain that having a democratic world will result in less war, but that is
not true. Wars against democracies can be predicted by chance. An example of this would be the

of African Americans lowly and many people still think of Caucasians as cold hearted people, but
they should not. Because people still hold a grudge of what happened more than a century ago,
they still think those things over a race and pick side and if someone picks a wrong side, then they

Prior to independence and up to 2001, the principal tax collection agencies were known as the
Department of Taxes and the Department of Customs and Excise. The Department of Taxes was
charged with the collection of corporate tax, sales tax, personal income tax, capital gains tax, etc,
while the department of Customs and Excise s duty collected border taxes and the so called sin
taxes in the form of liquor and tobacco excise taxes. Economic reforms dictated by the IMF and the
World Bank brought in a wave of reforms in the revenue collection capacities of state and its
agencies. Aside from the introduction and implementation of user fees in services departments such
as schools, clinics and hospitals, the reforms culminated in the combination of the two key
departments to form the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA), headed by a Commissioner
General. ZIMRA was established on 19 January 2001 as a successor organisation to the then
Department of Taxes and the Department of Customs and Excise following the promulgation of
the Revenue Authority Act on February 11, 2000. Among other reasons for this amalgamation were
the world trends, desire to improve efficiency by reducing bottlenecks and duplication of roles. This
harmonized revenue collection agency worked at purging corruption particularly at border posts, by
implementing a complete

Persuasive Essay: Layoffs within a Company
The decision to lay off employees cannot be the easiest for companies. There is a variety of
different reasons why employers layoff their employees, and the laws in many states allow them
to at any time as long as the reason does not contravene state or federal law. Being let go from your
job can happen by firing or layoff, and though neither is, usually, desired, the layoff is typically the
method that carries less of a stigma. Firing occurs with one worker for any reason that, usually,
involves job performance, unethical behavior or personality differences. Meanwhile, a layoff, ...

The more you can provide them with the peace of mind that comes with knowing what is going
on, the more there will be in the office. Involve employees in brainstorming for solutions. Even if
layoffs are inevitable, there will be a ripple effect through the office, including the possibility of
an increased workload for many individuals. Get the employee s input on this process and allow
them to have a say in how those new responsibilities are addressed. The more you make them feel
they have a voice, the more loyal they will be through difficult times (Zatzick, Zhoa, amp; Tingling,
2014).
In an article Layoff: A Four Letter Word in the Economy Martin (1998 2014) states that, It has
been difficult in recent years to find good people. However, sometimes it is better to have a
position vacant than to hire poorly especially in management. One bad manager can take down
tens to thousands with them (Martin, 1998 2014, para.10). Maintain a flexible workforce, hire
contractors for short term needs, and hire temporary or seasonal help for short term work. Hire
part timers who are willing to work only during the peak periods of need. Offer job sharing
options to current employees (para11). Create a contingency plan. It is better to have well thought
out and developed plan over a quickly devised scheme. It is also much better off to have a plan to
review if something bad happens than to have to invent something in the heat of a crisis (Martin,
1998 2014, para.11).

Vanity In Pride And Prejudice
Solomon was known as the smartest and wisest man in the world. He became a king of Israel, and
decided that he was going to figure out where happiness is found. He thought that money might be
able to make him happy, so he became the richest man in the world, but he was unsuccessful in his
pursuit of happiness. He then tried alcohol and women, but he was still unsuccessful. By the end of
his pursuit, he eventually determined that happiness could not be found in possessions and money,
or any earthly pleasure. For people in modern times, possessions and wealth are often what guide
relationships the modern life in general. People who put value in material wealth will struggle and
struggle all their lives, but will never be able to find true happiness. Literature and entertainment
provides countless examples of the truth of this statement. For much of their lives, Fitzwilliam

met the people who eventually be the most important to them, they weren t able to truly experience
love and redemption from their vain lifestyles.
In both Pride and Prejudice and Rain Man, Charlie and Mr. Darcy show traits of excessive pride
and vanity when they find self worth in their money and social status. When Charlie originally
decides he is going to take Raymond back to Los Angeles from Cincinnati, he is trying to use Ray
as leverage so that he can get his share of his recently passed father s

Essay The Woman Warrior
The Woman Warrior
Maxine Hong Kingston s The Woman Warrior discusses her and her mother Brave Orchid s
relationship. On the surface, the two of them seem very different however when one looks below
the surface they are very similar. An example of how they superficially seem different is the
incident at the drug store when Kingston is mortified at what her mother makes her do. Yet, the
ways that they act towards others and themselves exemplifies their similarities at a deeper level.
Kingston gains many things from her mother and becomes who she is because of Brave Orchid,
Rather than denying or suppressing the deeply embedded ambivalence her mother arouses in her,
Kingston unrelentingly evokes the powerful presence of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

demanding to her children, Brave Orchid can also be admonitory, as she demands that her children
eat, even when they stare in dismay at blood pudding quivering in the middle of the dining table

Ghosts represent the gulf between Maxine and her mother, the ambiguities in their relationship.
They are ghosts to one another, strangers in some fundamental way, each finding the other

because she is American and not Chinese. Brave Orchid considers Kingston a ghost because she
does not lead her life as Chinese people do even though Brave Orchid is aware that she has grown
up as an American. Brave Orchid is a ghost to Kingston because she has neither become completely
American nor immersed in the American culture. Kingston is embarrassed of the way her mother

The Commanalities of Plan and Form in Thomas Herzog s...
The Private House in Regensburg was built in 1979, is Thomas Herzog s own home; one can
declare that he is the client and designer himself thus fulfilling his own needs or desires for the site
itself, is referred to as his Wohnhaus in Regensberg (1979), with its steep, ground sweeping pitched
roof, is content to get its summer shading from the tree canopy above . (Rattenbury, et al., 2004)
Throughout this essay I will analyse Thomas Herzog s House at Regensburg explaining the
commonalities of plan and form, also looking at different themes and principles behind different
aspects of the house. Also looking at how the houses are syncing in with the environment, in
comparison to two other houses during the twentieth century.

Herzog s first low energy house, is the vice versa of having the characteristics of traditional
culture/customs or being constructed in a plain and simple fashion. Thus creating a new
invention, a design made from logic owing itself to science rather than to emotion. The house at
Regensburg has the pure prism form and rational plan that make it seem machine like , (Davies,
C. 2006) whilst using wood that is seen as non typical Modernist material. The appearance loses
the traditional house design and implements that it is an extruded form of a triangle, linking to the
hypotenuse of a triangle, reaching right down to the ground. It was designed to appear as if the
house is unwarranted (groundless) or the vice versa of it being forced up through the ground.
Energy principles were a relatively new idea in the 1970s where Herzog implemented the use of
the triangular shape of the house that is designed to collect free solar energy, which is later used to
heat the house. Herzog used environmental responsive architecture to integrate energy saving
features into the home. Also many architects would argue that the principles of creating a house
like this uses the principles of a Lean 2 shed , where it creates D.I.Y aesthetics.
Linking to the idea of conservatories being around since Victorian times, but this was always an
addition to the conventional house . Herzog merged the two together by creating a two storey

Employee Engagement Touches Every Aspect Of Human Resources
Employee engagement touches every aspect of human resources management and human resources
is found in every field and sector of every organization. This makes this topic about employee
engagement important to both the employer and the employee if the company wants to be
successful. Research by (MacLeod and Clarke, 2009) defined employee engagement as:
Creating an environment where employees are motivated to want to connect with their work and
really care about doing a good job...It is a concept that places flexibility, change and continuous
improvement at the heart of what it means to be an employee and an employer in a twenty first
century workplace. (as cited by Professor Katie Truss, 2009, p. 8).

How Is Ethos Used In Advertising
There are millions of commercials. All of them have different audience and purpose. Advertisement
maker tries to convey audience to look at their point of view, which can be political, social or
convincing them to buy their product instead of others. According to the article Rhetoric and
Advertising more than 2,000 years ago the Aristotle came up with three different categories to
describe how people use rhetoricto persuade people: ethos, pathosand logos. Each of these terms
describes different way to try to reach an audience and convince them to agree with you. Pathos
is an appeal to emotion, and is a way of convincing an audience of an argument by creating an
emotional response. Logos is an appeal to logic, and is a way of persuading an audience by
reason. Ethos is an appeal to ethics, and it is a means of convincing someone of the character or
credibility of the persuader. Many ad makers use 2 of 3 techniques in their ad. Commercial
maker uses logos and ethos a lot while making a commercial. For example, Luna commercial.
Luna is a carpeting company who installs new carpet in houses at the discounted prices. They
always have a promotions going on which includes get carpet in 2 rooms and get the 3rd one for
free, by doing this they are attracting customers, this is example of ethos. They also have a
catchy audio which makes people remember their number (773 241 LUNA) this is an example of
logos. They also have family who are dressed well talking about how good their

Comparing Donatello s David And Goliath
The story of David and Goliath is inspirational. It is about a courageous shepherd called David,
who s rescued Israel by defying a colossal giant called Goliath and killing him with a slingshot and
a bag of stone rocks. Donatello and Gianlorenzo Bermini made each a sculpture showing David.
Each sculpture differs from each other starting with material, size, and style. One important thing to
consider is the material used to create these statues. Donatello s Davidis nude and made of bronze.
Definitely, Donatello made it to history with this first male free standing statue that was entirely
unsupported, also Donatello captured the emotions in the statue. Whereas, Bernini s David is
half clothed and made of Marble, also the energy seen on donatello s David is not projected on
bermini s David. Bermini was more of an action men, and projected David with an ideal body.
Donatello s David is shown more weak and incapable of causing the killing of a giant. I would say

Many men and women in America don t have insurance or simply cannot afford health care.
Planned Parenthood does have professional doctors who specialized in many reproductive health
services. Planned Parenthood is affordable, the program takes a patient whether they have
insurance or not, not only that, they charge you by how much income you make. Low income
Americans have access to these services too. The United States Department of Health, Education
and Welfare, for example, created a federal program to provide poor, married women with birth

Texas is one of the states that cut funds for Planned Parenthood. After Texas defunded the clinic, a
survey of 300 pregnant women who were seeking abortions in Texas said that they were unable to
access the birth control that they wanted to use in the three months before pregnancy. (Amanda J.
Stevenson).
According to the article, Political Attacks on Planned Parenthood Are a Threat to Women s Health
for some people, Planned Parenthood has come to symbolize abortion, which it has provided since
1970. But in all the rhetoric, facts have sometimes gone missing. For example, Senator Jon Kyl
of Arizona declared on the floor of the Senate that abortion accounts for well over 90 percent of
what Planned Parenthood does. That figure is actually 3 percent. Planned Parenthood clinics
perform one in four abortions in the U.S. but use no federal funds for this practice. To some
abortion opponents, that 3 percent is reason enough to gut the organization. If a future Congress
and White House were to do so, however, it would drive women once again into the back alleys,
without necessarily decreasing the number of abortions. Stripping Planned Parenthood of federal
funding would also sacrifice the 97 percent of its public health work that has nothing to do with
abortion, from which many people benefit directly. One in five American women have used the
group s services, and three out of four

The recent trend in computer technology is to instead increase the number of cores in the
processor along with the transistors, to maintain proportional scaling of power. As a result,
architecture researchers have started focusing on100 core and 1000 core chips and related research
topics and called for changes to the undergraduate curriculum to solve the parallel programming
challenge for multicore designs at these scales (Esmaeilzadeh 2012). Upcoming chips will be
limited by power, thus higher core counts must provide performance gains despite the worsening
energy and speed scaling of transistors.

Eugene Sandow s Bodybuilding And The Bodybuilding Industry
Eugene Sandow started bodybuilding in the late nineteenth century. He was known of his time to
have a great physique, and it drew many admirers. Known as The Father of Bodybuilding , he
began the bodybuilding industry by promoting competitions and selling exercise equipment.
Today, the bodybuilding industry is as big as ever as more people are interested in achieving their
ideal physique. The image of bodybuilders is still viewed negatively by the public. When people
hear of bodybuilding, they most often think of big, steroid abusing tools that are obsessed with
gaining muscle. They fail to observe the deeper reasoning behind bodybuilding. Fictional accounts
of bodybuilders, endured by writers who did not experience the lifestyle, is a moral transgression. It
is a moral transgression to write fictional accounts on bodybuilding because it is a form of art. It is
an art in which the artists (bodybuilders) present their physique as the artwork. Bodybuilders spend
hours at the gym to sculpt, and manipulate the size of their musculature by performing strenuous
exercises and consistently eating nutritious foods. Bodybuilding shows are not all about muscle, but
the overall beauty of the artwork. The World Natural Bodybuilding Federation (WNBF), a well

Comparing The Book Of Proverbs And Ecclesiastes
Looking at the books of wisdom of the Old Testament, the ideas of diligence and laziness have
been greatly captured. Diligence has been displayed in a much positive way, unlike laziness which
has been greatly condemned and looked down upon in most of the books of wisdom in the Old
Testament (Hindson and Yates 2012). Though the two ideas looked to have been intertwined
making them closely related, they are totally different from each other. It must be understood that
the books of proverbs and Ecclesiastes are the books of wisdomthat have handled the two ideas in
more expansive manner and thus become our center of focus as we discuss the two in greater details.

In this, we are able to infer that listening to a diligent person is more important than listening to a
lazy person. This is because a diligent person is a person who is full of wisdom, unlike a lazy
person who is full of foolishness (Ecclesiastes 10:10 12 RSV). It has been stated in the book of
Ecclesiastes that those words that come out of the mouth of a wise person are more gracious
and blessing than those that comes out of a foolish person whose words are full of foolishness
and their end is mere madness. It is, therefore, clear that those words that come out of a diligent
person have a lot of wisdom are greatly valued as compared to those words that come out of a
lazy person which are full of foolishness. Such words can only lead to madness and nothing good
can ever come out of them as compared to those from a diligent person which are more gracious
and valuable. Laziness is therefore regarded as evil and has nothing good to offer to anyone and
no one should pay attention to people with such qualities and tendencies. Ecclesiastes encourages
us to pay more attention to the diligent people as they have a lot of wisdom which if put into
practice; the results are good and much

Oskar Schindler Movie Analysis
Oskar Schindler wasn t always a nice man. It took him a long time to adapt into the man he was
at the end of the movie. At the beginning of the movie. He was a perpetrator. Just like any other
Nazi, he would treat the Jews like slaves. At first, he used the Jews to make a big fortune. He
knew about the Jewish black market, and knew that they had items that could not be found locally
during the time of the war. He got items for himself through the black market, and even bought or
took some items to resell at a higher price. Although this was bad, it was the least of his crimes.
Oskar would use Jewsin his factory. He did not pay them, and they worked countless hours getting
as much material out the door as possible. His factories would make materials that were sure to
be used. Since war was going on, Schindler knew that making war supplies would be the best
option for making lot s of money. So, his slaves went to work. And, as they starved and sweat, he
got rich and sipped expensive wine. He did not let just any Jew work for him. His workers were
the best working Jews available. In fact, there was one time that a worker was not up to par with
what Oskar expected, and he got very angry. This is to show that not just any Jew could come
into his factory and work. He made sure that the Jews on his floor would be the ones to make him
the most money possible. He did not care about the lives of his workers, he cared about his wealth.

English Writer And Poet Gilbert K. Chesterton
English writer and poet Gilbert K. Chesterton once stated that, You cannot love a thing without
wanting to fight for it. Because true love, the passion that binds two people, is something that
renews itself and is never diminished. It neither deteriorates nor does it die. Rather both bliss and
hardship, distance and nearness, pleasure and pain, form the foundation for which lovesits upon.
Love, like steel, is tempered by the flames of adversity and as a result it is made stronger by its
heat. Love is so deeply rooted and critical to humanity because in love there is stability,
compassion, and comfort. In love people give a part of their heart, their soul, their own passion,
to another. In a world of loneliness, uncertainty and danger, love is a constant worth fighting for.
Moreover, love that one choses to not fight for does not deserve to be called true love. It can be
lust, passion, or endearment but never love because the gift of love is sacred. It is selfless, mutual,
and permanent. It is true.
The Mu`allaqat of Antara is one such example of love that is true. This story mirrors that of the
classical Shakespearean tragedy Romeo and Juliet, where love blossoms amidst two warring
houses. The hero of this ode quite literally fights on the battlefield for his lover. The devotion of
the man s love can be seen by how eloquently he describes his feelings for her. He states, She takes
your heart with the flash edge of her

In this experiment, 4 different eggs were placed in different substances to see the changes in
their masses. All three eggs had similar effects and grew/shrunk at around the same rate. On the
first day, the eggs had a shell and after 3 days the shell disappeared. This was due to the acetic
acid and water of the vinegar that it was put in. The acetic acid and calcium carbonate of the shell
creates a reaction in which calcium acetate and carbonic acids are formed. These products
decompose and become water and carbon dioxide. The bubbles around the eggwere from the carbon
dioxide. Along with the shell dissipating, the egg size increased as well as the mass. Since vinegar
has a higher concentration of water in it than the egg, the water from the vinegar diffused through
the exposed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After a day, the eggs became very deflated because a lot of the water left the egg. Corn syrup has
no water so the egg had a higher concentration of water which caused it to move from the inside to
the outside of the egg. The corn syrup also went into the egg and vinegar and proteins left. After
adding water, the egg size increased due to osmosis. The water on the outside went in and the
proteins, vinegar, and corn syrup left the egg. The solution on the inside was hypertonic to the
solution on the outside with those three things that left the egg. To reach equilibrium, things with
higher concentration went to the other side of the membrane. The egg was bigger when it was in
the water because the it had less solutes such as the acetic acid which would make more water
move from the lower concentrated solution to the other side. The vinegar has a lower
concentration of water so less water would move to the other side of the membrane. An application
of this experiment would be in selling vegetables. In markets, water is sprinkled onto the vegetables
because it makes them

A Research Study On Mental Disorders
Abstract
People suffering from gender dysphoria, according to the most recent DSM 5(Diagnostic and
Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders), experience a discrepancy between the assign gender and
the expressed one. Even though not every person experience the same degree, for many people
who suffer from it the depression and anxiety is so overwhelming that they may need a gender
reassignment surgery to feel a real sense of identity. A continued hormonal therapy together with
surgery can offer an important solution for these individuals, minimizing tension between their
sense of gender and their biology. In this research Paper I am going to be talking about this
important, even ethical, topic. Mainly about what is its impact in people who suffer from it, its
signs and symptoms, causes and possible treatments. Gender Dysphoria
Formerly known as GID, gender dysphoria is a disorder (as DSM 5 classified it).Topic that has
been really controversial for many transgender people, and even for some researchers. For that
reason they reclassify it saying that gender dysphoria only applies to persons who experienced a
discontent from gender identity issues. The term is defined by the felling of identification with the
opposite gender and discomfort with the person anatomical sex. Gender and sex are not the same.
The difference between them is explained that the sex is located in the abdomen and the genital
area and gender identity in the brain. An individual with gender dysphoria can has

Josh was given this job in order to help the company grow however he is still new and for the
group, he still needs more time and experience in order to fully analyze and understand day to
day operations of the business so that the implementation plan will be concrete and will slowly
help bring up the company. The first alternative for Josh is after the analysis, he must form a
department that must look up for key suppliers that would constantly provide them with the
necessary materials they require in doing and finishing their jobs. The other alternative is to
change the current system in which the company should keep an inventory of finished goods or
an inventory of materials. The company may have different sets of clients however the orders
that come by in case of some defects, the company may immediately replace and fix those which
is necessary to be fixed. And keeping a stock of materials may save them lead time from ordering
and can save them money through bulk purchasing. V. Detailed Recommendations After a complete
analysis of the current system, Josh should be able to deeply understand the operations of the
company, he should have been able to determine what constricts the company from earning more
and spending less. Josh must look up for suppliers who intend to provide them materials in a long
term basis and to provide these materials on time and in proper condition. This

President s Influence In America
In the United States of America the president is viewed as the most powerful and influential
individual in the country or even in the world. As citizens of the United States we often believe
that the president has an incredible amount of power and is held accountable for the current state
of the economy. Each presidential election can easily be thought as a defining moment for
America, because of the amount of power we believe the president holds. His special abilities
such as the power to veto are greatly recognized as acts of great power and often cause his
influence on the economy to be overestimated. Although the president has great military power and
influence, the president in general does not greatly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Balances of supply and demand, work wages, and the growth of the economy are all things that
affect the unemployment rate, and all of which the president has no direct control over. Though the
president has greater power regarding foreign affairs than in domestic affairs, the United States
Constitution divides the foreign policy powers between the President and Congress. The president
has the ability to make influential negotiations, but improving relations between two countries
proves to be a difficult task as demonstrated by President Nixon. During his presidency Nixon tried
easing Cold War tensions. He tried to use improved relations with the Soviets and Chinese to
pressure North Vietnam to reach a settlement, but he could only negotiate a flawed agreement that
merely interrupted, rather than ended, the war. All in all President Nixon used his power of making
negotiations and though it had some affect on the war, ultimately didn t change its outcome. The
overall state of the county is highly dependent on the state of the economy. The president has the
ability to give an opinion on policies, laws, and other things that affect the economy, but has

African American Perspective in Early 20th Century America
Throughout the era after the Civil War, Blacks struggled to show themselves and create an identity
outside of the confines of slavery. There were many different ideas that display how Black should
be perceived and how Blacks should carry themselves in order to uplift the race. Uplifting the race
was one of the most influential ideas of the time. Miscegenation, sexuality, and education are just
three of the issues that were influenced by the racial attitudes of the times. Many authors
commented on these issues and the other issues of the time. Nella Larsen, Booker T. Washington,
and Charles Chestnutt are three authors that share their views with their readers. Miscegenation
occurs when different racial groups mix through marriage,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

We make our customs lightly; once made, like our sins, they grip us in bands of steel, we
become creatures of our creations. By one standard the office boy should have never been born.
Yet he is a son of Adam and came into existence in the way ordained by God from the beginning
of the world (Chestnutt, 24). Chestnutt shows the judge in the same struggle that he leaves his
reader feelings. The customs of society say one thing; yet, true seems to be saying another.
Chestnutt leaves his readers with this dichotomy in his book. Chestnutt balances between
Larsen and Washington s views. He makes his reader think though the reasons why or why not
miscegenation should or should not be allowed. Sexuality was also an issue for Blacks in this
time period. Most black women were classified as either a respectable, almost asexual, lady or a
whore. They were classified as a mammy or a jezebel. There was a dichotomy between what
women were allowed to be. Sexual desire needed to be separate from respectability. And
respectability was highly prized. Larsen s character Helga struggles greatly with this dichotomy
between sexual desire and respectability. She has been taught to be a respectable woman in order to
uplift the race and that black women should be perceived in a certain way. Larsen writes of Helga
and Dr. Anderson s conversation about Helga s upbringing. Dr. Anderson says, Perhaps I can best

via PEG tube to patients is used when incompetent patients stop eating. It is also no evidence that
palliative care would enhance or improve patients condition or relief their starvation and
dehydration if they are dying.10 Therefore, it is different from medical treatment. The authors also
argue that artificial feeding via PEG has no evidence to improve dying patients comfort or dignity.
In fact, fluid overload might reduce their comfort. In addition, authors held that in practice,
palliative care is provided to the terminal phase of care patients to omit medically administered
nutrition and hydration . For example, a cancer patient who cannot eat and choose to be fed via

Explain What Causes The Change In Heart Rate And Pulse Rate
What causes the change in heart rate and pulse rate with exercise is that during exercise, it
requires the heart to pump more blood out to specific organs at a faster rate in order for the organs
to send the necessary amount of oxygen and nutrients to the muscles involved in exercise so that
they keep working.
Heart rate equals pulse rate at rest and after exercise because blood flows towards the heart and
radial and carotid arteries at the same rate along the same pathway, or loop.
The change in cardiac cycle length with exercise affects heart muscle perfusion and time for
ventricular filling because since exercise calls for more blood to the muscles, the heart needs to
pump blood quickly at a faster rate. As the heart pumps faster, there

and those who are more for individualism. The classical liberal is shown to be more economically
successful than the modern liberal. Although each person in the collective of teachers receives one
two hundredth of what the hockey player is paid in a year, they appear to be happy and more
upright than the hockey player. On the other hand, the hockey player is depicted as an all about me

ideas that modern liberalism is predominantly evil in that it shows a collective of teachers, who
are the driving force in preparing children to be the future generation. In the same way, source one

Rhetorical Analysis Of The Good Short Life
Pathos, or writing with emotion, is what makes up most of his writing.
Embracing Death:
A Rhetorical Look at Clendinen s The Good Short Life How does one want to die? That might be
a question too harsh for some to think about. So, maybe the correct question would be, how can one
embrace death? Everyone s answer to this question is more than likely going to be very diverse.
Do people embrace death and live every moment to the fullest until it is their time to go? One
man, Dudley Clendinen, a writer for the New York Times, did just that. His article is about his
intentions to end his own life at the young age of 66 rather than having his daughter and friends
watch him die a laborious and excruciating death. The context of his article is ... Show more content

extreme measure, but most people will have to make a decision for a family member who is no
longer capable of making medical decisions for themselves. Clendinen achieved his purpose and
readers should walk away from this article recognizing exactly what Clendinen s beliefs are on
death, and it ought to make them curious about their own thoughts and beliefs. At the very least,

While this part of town has always been a solid representation of African American culture when desegregation occurred all families that could afford to quickly moved to the wealthy parts of the cityleaving the district nearly abandoned. Naturally following the abandonment of the district most businesses followed leaving low income residents with little to no job opportunities. A popular phenomenon that has arose recently in urban cities such as these (due to its raving success in cities such as Chicago) is gentrification. Gentrification is the renovation of these high crime low income areas in the hopes of creating a better neighborhood. However, one of the unforeseen side effects of gentrification is the displacement of the low income residents who can no longer afford to live in this nicer neighborhood. Ser Pier later married another woman, when he was 25, which is the time Leonardo was born. More wars have had the use of guns than the use of nuclear weapons. More people have been killed in wars because of guns than because of nuclear weapons. However, more people can be killed in an instant by nuclear weapons whereas when you use a gun, more people can be killed in a span of a few months. It is also easier and cheaper to get a gun than it is to make and use a nuclear weapon. It was designed to appear as if the house is unwarranted (groundless) or the vice versa of it being forced up through the ground. Energy principles were a relatively new idea in the 1970s where Herzog implemented the use of the triangular shape of the house that is designed to collect free solar energy, which is later used to heat the house. Herzog used environmental responsive architecture to integrate energy saving features into the home. Also many architects would argue that the principles of creating a house like this uses the principles of a Lean 2 shed , where it creates D.I.Y aesthetics. • 25. How Is Ethos Used In Advertising There are millions of commercials. All of them have different audience and purpose. Advertisement maker tries to convey audience to look at their point of view, which can be political, social or convincing them to buy their product instead of others. According to the article Rhetoric and Advertising more than 2,000 years ago the Aristotle came up with three different categories to describe how people use rhetoricto persuade people: ethos, pathosand logos. Each of these terms describes different way to try to reach an audience and convince them to agree with you. Pathos is an appeal to emotion, and is a way of convincing an audience of an argument by creating an emotional response. Logos is an appeal to logic, and is a way of persuading an audience by reason. Ethos is an appeal to ethics, and it is a means of convincing someone of the character or credibility of the persuader. Many ad makers use 2 of 3 techniques in their ad. One important thing to consider is the material used to create these statues. Donatello s Davidis nude and made of bronze. Definitely, Donatello made it to history with this first male free standing statue that was entirely unsupported, also Donatello captured the emotions in the statue. Whereas, Bernini s David is half clothed and made of Marble, also the energy seen on donatello s David is not projected on bermini s David. According to the article, Political Attacks on Planned Parenthood Are a Threat to Women s Health for some people, Planned Parenthood has come to symbolize abortion, which it has provided since 1970. But in all the rhetoric, facts have sometimes gone missing. For example, Senator Jon Kyl of Arizona declared on the floor of the Senate that abortion accounts for well over 90 percent of what Planned Parenthood does. That figure is actually 3 percent. Planned Parenthood clinics perform one in four abortions in the U.S. but use no federal funds for this practice. To some abortion opponents, that 3 percent is reason enough to gut the organization. If a future Congress and White House were to do so, however, it would drive women once again into the back alleys, without necessarily decreasing the number of abortions. It has been stated in the book of Ecclesiastes that those words that come out of the mouth of a wise person are more gracious and blessing than those that comes out of a foolish person whose words are full of foolishness and their end is mere madness. It is, therefore, clear that those words that come out of a diligent person have a lot of wisdom are greatly valued as compared to those words that come out of a lazy person which are full of foolishness. Such words can only lead to madness and nothing good can ever come out of them as compared to those from a diligent person which are more gracious and valuable. • 34. English Writer And Poet Gilbert K. Chesterton English writer and poet Gilbert K. Chesterton once stated that, You cannot love a thing without wanting to fight for it. Because true love, the passion that binds two people, is something that renews itself and is never diminished. It neither deteriorates nor does it die. Rather both bliss and hardship, distance and nearness, pleasure and pain, form the foundation for which lovesits upon. Love, like steel, is tempered by the flames of adversity and as a result it is made stronger by its heat. Love is so deeply rooted and critical to humanity because in love there is stability, compassion, and comfort. In love people give a part of their heart, their soul, their own passion, to another. In a world of loneliness, uncertainty and danger, love is a constant worth fighting for. Moreover, love that one choses to not fight for does not deserve to be called true love. It can be lust, passion, or endearment but never love because the gift of love is sacred. It is selfless, mutual, and permanent. It is true. The Mu`allaqat of Antara is one such example of love that is true. This story mirrors that of the classical Shakespearean tragedy Romeo and Juliet, where love blossoms amidst two warring houses.
