Gender Roles Of Women And Women
Gender is one of the greatest factors that can determine how we define ourselves and others.
Although gender is determined at birth for many, it does not influence one s identity of self
until a later age. How society views the roles of each gender influences how a person views
themselves. As the views changes, so does one s identity. In the past, the roles of men and
women were defined and separated. Men were expected to provide income for the family, while
women were expected to take care of the home. Doing things outside these roles caused negative
reactions from the community and frowned upon. Today, there is still a difference between men
and women, but a lot of the roles have become acceptable for both. Within my culture, gender
roles have generally been set and defined to conform to preexisting traditions. Men were viewed
as strong and the bread earner and women were weak, unintelligent family care takers. To this day,
I feel this notion still exists in the contemporary society due to the deep seated nature of
Confucianism in the Chinese culture. Even in Chinese school, we were assigned gender roles and
taught proverbial stories instilled with concepts regarding women s inferiority and subordination to
men by nature. These gender constructs were enforced beyond childhood and some of my Chinese
classes even imposed gender specific behavioral conventions. Many of my textbooks would mainly
revolve around male characters as opposed to female characters and there were

of the consumer mindset towards customisation in fashion and the different types of customization
in fashion today. the report will then consider the future of customized fashion and what it may

the 18th century with the wealthy and elite who would travel to paris for customised and unique
garments and bring them back to their own towns to be copied by local dress makers.
It wasn t until the mid 1800 s with charles fredrick worth that dress making was truly
revolutionised. Worth made it so that dressmakers become artisans of garments: a fashion designer.
Worth would prapare a portfolio of designs that where often shown on live models. Clients would

individual tailoring with a standardisation of the ready to wear clothing industry which was also
developing in the same time period.
Numuours couture houses have opened since worth but have since closed or become luxury

Why Do Cold Blooded Animals Exist
Snakes are known to have no legs and long body. They belong to Squamata group (reptiles group
that have scales). They are considered the most adaptable animals to their environtments. They can
be found at almost all over the world: in the mountains, forests, plains, neighborhoods, deserts,
farms, until the sea. Although, they will increasingly rare in colder place because they are cold
blooded animals. Cold blooded animals need warmth of the sun to keep their body temperature.
That is why they are not existed in both Polar Regions.

trees without ever touching the ground. Other types live in aquatic or semi aquatic habitat, such as

In “Worship At The Altar of Convergence”, Henry Jenkins...
In Worship At The Altar of Convergence , Henry Jenkins discusses the concept of convergence,
where both old and new media collide. Jenkins describes convergence as the flow of content
between multiple media platforms, industries, and the migratory behaviour that is present
throughout the media audience (2). He explains that convergence is a necessity because it describes
technological, industrial, cultural and social changes that are present in our technological society.
That being said, Jenkins analyzes the relation between mediaconvergence, participatory culture, and
collective intelligence.
Jenkins argues that American popular culture will be redefined by the struggles over convergence
and media. With the idea of profit in mind, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This relates to what Jenkins was describing as the process of convergence, where consumers
demand more advanced phones. Although there may be the odd few that prefer single function
phones, they are cheap yet harder to find now a days due to the high demand for advanced
technology. This shows how the growth of convergence culture increases by relying heavily of the
consumer s active participation in order to succeed.
Jenkins talks about how the consumption of media products is a collective process, in other words,
the collective intelligence is seen as an alternative source of media power. He describes how within
popular culture, the collective meaning making is shaping and changing the ways religion,
education, laws, politics, advertising and how the military operate (4). Jenkins discusses a process
called convergence of modes , he explains that media and communication are becoming
interconnected like the telephone and television.
Overall, Jenkins is interested on the impact convergence has on popular culture, however,
considering the process of convergence of modes, he recognizes that popular and political
cultural are beginning to blur. Like cultural, both new and old media alike are begging to blur
and evolve, while delivery technologies become obsolete and get replaced. An example would be
the replacement of floppy disk to CDs and more commonly now, the use of USBs, Jenkins
describes this as The Black Box Fallacy , where media combine as one

Role of Financial Statements in Decision Making
TOPIC: ASESSMENT OF CREDIT RISK IN FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
THE ABSTRACT
This proposal study explores financial credit risk assessment. This is an important issue because
there is currently no standardized method used by financial institutions for the assessment of credit
risk. There are needs for a critical evaluation of the most popular credit risk assessment methods
such as the judgmental method, credit scoring and portfolio models along with limitations used.
Survey interview process is needed for confirming that credit risk assessment methods should be
combined for effective credit risk assessment. Accordingly, the study proposes a framework for
improving credit risk assessment, which combines the strengths of these methods and copes ... Show

Since information derived from self assessment can be useful in a wide range of activities from
strengthening risk management systems to formulating business strategy large differentials in
business management are likely to arise among financial institutions depending on the utilization
of this valuable information. As the Bank of Japan has introduced the Tracing Method of asset
assessment and loan losses in order to support financial institutions to maximize the use of their
own assessments as a management tool. The Tracing Method is used to observe changes in the
condition of individual assets in a time series and is one way to utilize financial institutions self
assessment of assets. The Bank conducted a follow up analysis in the recent on site examination to
analyze how many of the loans classified in the previous examination (1993 94) were later written
off and others in relation to financial losses from support by renunciation of claims, and losses from
sales of nonperforming loans to the Cooperative Credit Purchasing Company.
The empirical study using the Tracing Method suggests the following points of importance

Year 7 Camp Research Paper
Survival on Camp Alex provides great tips for surviving camp On Monday the 8th of February,
the Year 7 cohort left Pulteney to go on a camping adventure on Kangaroo Island (KI). There,
they did many things such as cook, set up, sleep in tents and go on long hikes. While this might
not sound fun for everyone, once there the Year 7s discovered that there was lots of fun stuff to
do and it was a fantastic bonding experience. Knowing that Year 6s are often worried about the

CASE 1: WARREN BUFFETT
a) From Warren Buffett s perspective, what is the intrinsic value?
From Warren Buffett s perspective, intrinsic value is the value will affect the future value
performance of investment and business. It is defined as the discounted value of the cash that can
be taken out of a business during its remaining life (Bruner, 2010).
Why is it accorded such importance?
In view of the fact that the intrinsic value is the only logical way (Bruner, 2010) which help
investor to identify whether the investments and businesses are worth to do.

How do you measure investment performance?
I measure investment performance in two ways. One is whether I can get a stable and good profit
or not. The other one is the investment will have a lower risk than others.
What does good performance mean to you?
The investment has a good performance means I will have a substantial return in the investment
and undertake lower risks than others.
b) What might explain the fund s performance?
There are two frequently ways to measure the fund s performance according to Bill Miller and
Value Trust (Bruner, 2010):
1) The percentage of annual growth rate of NAV assuming reinvestment (the total return on
investment.)
2) The absolute dollar value today of an investment made at some time in the past.
To what extent do you believe an investment strategy, such as Miller s, explains performance?
The investment strategies include many aspects. It should consider different factors to provide
extensive perspective for investors to estimate the performance of investment.
Buy low price, high intrinsic value stocks (Bruner 2010) is the first investment strategy. It reveals
the higher investment returns the better.

Similarities Between Baphomet And Abraxas
There are certain similarities between Baphomet and Abraxas and the later probably influenced
the former. This is something that the Templars themselves may have recognized. Abraxas
seems to have played a central role in the Gnostic cult of Basilides in the second century A.D.
Basilides was an Alexandrian mystic and teacher who for all intents and purposes can only be
extracted from heresiological sources from the Church Fathers. He is either depicted as a disciple
of Menander or Saturninus (both of whom belonged to the Simonian schools of Simon Magus in
Syria and Alexandria, Egypt) or an interpreter of St. Peter named Glaucias. And it is interesting to
note that Basilides is said to come out of these two supposed diametrically opposed traditions
(being Simon Magus and St. Peter). Basilides was more than likely the first... Show more content on

Faith was an inborn assent of the soul and is equated to gnosis . It wasn t a matter of instruction
or indoctrination. It was a sort of nature, in fact. Perhaps faith and knowledge for Basilides was
the same thing. Basilides, therefore, had a lot in common with other Gnostics and eventually
with the later Protestant John Calvin as they all shared the idea of predestined salvation. The
three nature doctrine attests to this. The elect were those who had the capacity for faith, and
considered themselves strangers or aliens to the world and long for salvation in Christ and the
transcendent. Those who are incapable of faith, who feel perfectly at home in the world of matter
are what Basilides calls worthless or swine and dogs. Ouch! Birger Pearson in Ancient Gnosticism
(p. 139) reflects on this Gnostic elitism exemplified by the cult of Basilides. This also reflects

The Misconceptions Of Authoritarianism
Authoritarianism is a regime type and, furthermore, a political vision that seeks to create
compliance in authority and establish order and peace by striving for absolute legitimacy. In an
authoritarian regime, power relations are vertically organized, where there is little to no
accountability for those in power and where civil and political rights of citizens, if established, are
restrictive and violated. Two common misconceptions of authoritarianismare that they are durable
and they have always have a paternal figure as leader. To the first point: though an authoritarian
regime would be relatively simple to establish, the difficult task of legitimizing and consolidating
absolute authority makes authoritarian rule an incredibly arduous endeavour. Authoritarian regimes
can easily be snubbed out as quickly as they began to burn, pointing to how the legitimacy of
authority is by far the most essential tool to the authoritarian. But who is the authoritarian? Many
see authoritarian regimes as patrimonial, meaning that though there still might be complex
institutions of bureaucracy, security, and even political parties, all authority comes from the top
and the top alone. However, there can also be authoritarian regimes run by an institution, whether
through a military junta or hegemonic political party. Authoritarianism can easily derive from civil
society instead of through the military, yet the coercive powers of military are essential for
consolidating power. The rise and

College Sports Gambling
With all of the controversy of gambling in college sports, why is the issue still an issue? The
answer is money. There were actions taken towards this by
Congress, but the problem is that it was never completely abolished. Congress had made the
mistake of creating a way around it. It is now commonly referred to as the Las Vegas loophole.
They outlawed the betting nationwide with the exception of one state, one state that is the capital
of gambling, Nevada. This has caused few changes, with the exception of the ever growing revenue
that it generates. Another reason the legality still remains is one not frequently mentioned, but the
question of the ban being constitutional. But no matter what the law, is there ... Show more content

People of all kinds are in agreeance that the impact of this law would hardly be worth the effort.
John Shelk, vice president of the American Gaming Association, also stated It s not like
Congress is going to pass a law that bans legal gambling, and students across the country will say,
В‘Oh my God, I can t gamble anymore because it s illegal. Sen. McCain, co author of last year s
Senate bill, had countered his opinion to ESPN.com by saying, I don t think we have to choose
between enforcing existing laws on illegal gambling and closing the loophole on legal gambling.
McCain added, we can do both. McCain and others claim that eliminating legalized gambling in
Nevada would be an essential first step on stopping the college sports gambling. Critics disagree.
They believe that the attempt to chip away at illegal sports gambling isn t a logical first step, at all.
The fact of the college sports gambling, is that there is too much publicity, popularity, and money
surrounding this particular gambling sport.
In the beginning there was a problem with popularity. From 1951 1974, there was a 10% excise
tax levied by the Federal Government on the amount of sports wagers. The tax made the business
unprofitable since the profit margin was generally 5%

Chapter 2 Of The Annual Shape Trip-Personal Narrative
It was day 2 of the annual canoe trip that my Boy Scout troop goes on. I was in a kayak because
of a lack of canoes. The day started out with a cold and groggy morning. The scouts ventured out
to find wood to start a fire with, and the adults began to fix breakfast and their morning cup of
coffee. After the boys had gathered enough wood for a fire, and the adults had breakfast
prepared to be cooked, the scouts constructed a roaring fire for everyone to cook their food over.
Breakfast was set to be fish. Since we were without any electronics or cooking devices, we made
hobo packs, which consisted of putting all of our food in an aluminum foil wrap and heating it.
The painstaking wait was over, and we now had a delicious meal to fill our stomachs before

everyone s stomachs were full. Once more, we abided by our Scout Motto, and left the island so
we could paddle our way to the end of our endeavour. Just a short distance of nearly a mile from
the island, some heavy rapids awaited our coming. They were something we all had to just deal
with, and figure out by trial and error, the best way to pass through them. A fellow scout of mine,
Ben, decided he wanted to be the first to try his luck in these rapids. Ben was a first year scout,

Summary Of The Book Walmart Wars
Morality is defined by the fine line found between actions and behavior. In the book WalMart
Wars, Massengill argues many points of how Wal Mart is found at the forefront of society s
greatest social arguments. Through Wal Mart s public relations campaigns, American society has
revered and accepted the ideas of thrift as morally just because it presents the sense of upward
mobility. The concepts of social theorist Ferdinand Tönnies in using both gemeinschaft and

Massengill is showing that Walmart is setup like any other society found in the US. For many

Garbage Pollution In Aldergrove
The issue I have chosen to focus on for this project is the amount of waste left on the town of
Aldergrove s streets, trails, sidewalks and the Fraser River running through the town. The reason
behind picking this particular area to focus on is that I live in and, on a daily basis, travel through
the town. I m also an annual participant in my Girl Guide groups street cleanup, the cleanup being
managed by the Adopt a Street program. Seeing firsthand the amount of garbage that is left around
has really put into perspective that something needs to change. By taking on this project I can be

The project will be taken in steps split through different sections of the final outcome. Sections in

The Fountain Reflection
The Fountain, directed by Darren Aronofsky, is a dramatic sci fi esque film centered around the
main character, Tommy. The film begins in the past setting with the line, Let s finish this . These
three words capture the film s entire conflict, death. Every living thing dies, however it takes the
span of the movie for Tommy to realize this. In the beginning, he is weary of death, believing that it
is a disease. Present Tommy is obsessed on saving his wife Izzi from her fatal brain tumor, while
Future Tommy is taking a tree, presumably Izzi, to Shibalba to be healed. He is unable to accept
the death of someone that he loves, and therefore puts all his time and efforts into curing death.
Even in the past, Queen Isabella of Spain asks Tommy to find eternal life to save Spain, leading
him in a mindless quest for the tree of life and a brutal death when he does find his goal. All the
while, present day Izzi has come to accept her own death. She is content in her life. Tommy does
not recognize this, putting his wife second to her illness. We can see this when she asks him to
take a walk with her, to which he denies. This scene replays throughout the movie, highlighting
Tommy s mistake of choosing his work over her. In doing this, he losses his wedding ring because
he is no longer worthy of wearing it.

Countrywide Subprime Lending Crisis
Executive Summary
Even though Countrywide stopped offering subprime loans 4 months ago, the company is still in
the forefront of the subprime mortgage lending and foreclosure crisis.
Lawsuits seem to be coming from all directions, federal and state investigative probes are launched
against them, stock price tumbled to 1/5 of its value, even desperate lenders demonstrated outside
their offices. 2007 has definitely not been Countrywide s year.
The company has lost its place as America s Home Lender and has been quoted by few as America

Subprime lending
Subprime mortgage lending is the origination of residential mortgage loans to customers with
impaired credit histories. Typically, these borrowers have lower credit scores and/or other credit
deficiencies that prevent them from qualifying for prime mortgages. Subprime borrowers pay
premium above the prime market rate in order to compensate the lender for bearing greater default
risk. In addition, subprime borrowers pay higher origination and continuous costs, such as
applications fees, appraisal fees, mortgage insurance payments, late fees and fines for delinquent
payments.
Subprime Mortgage market
Since mid 1990s, the subprime mortgage market has grown rapidly experiencing a phenomenal
23% compound annual growth rate to 2006. The total subprime loan originations increased from
$65 billion in 1995 to $613 billion in 2006. The subprime sector has become a significant sub
sector of the total residential market accounting for 21% of all residential mortgage originations in
2006. Similarly, by year end 2006, total outstanding balance of subprime loans grew to $1.2 trillion,
approximately 12.6% of all outstanding mortgage debt.
A number of legislative and economic factors contributed to the growth of the subprime market:
В•In 1980 the Congress passed Depository Institutions Deregulation and Monetary Control Act

From the article of Sports Nola, Nick Kreugar wrote about Dennis Lorio:
He was offensive coordinator at East St. John for the past two years, but resigned for family
reasons last October. He is well known for his time at Thibodaux and led them to the inaugural 5A
state championship in 1991. Lorio also spent time as LSU offensive line coach from 1992 94 and
returned to Thibodaux in 2008 leading the Tigers to a 27 12 record with 5A state quarterfinal
playoff runs in 2008 and 2009. He has a career coaching record of 105 70.
Even tough he lives in New Orleans, he drives an hour for his work every day. In 2013, Coach
Lorio took a challenge by coaching the Morgan City Tigers after he resigned from Thibodaux. He

The Impact Of Digital Technology On Society
With new technical breakthroughs happening every minute, technology is advancing far beyond
our imagination. The internet has become increasingly accessible with new smartphones and
smart devices, and with them came new social media applications. Social media has now
become a large factor in the lives of many people across the globe as a means of finding and
distributing information. People spend more and more time on the internet, and less time having
face to face human interactions. Instead of human interactions and networking, popularity and
social status is now based on friends on Facebook, followers on Twitter, and Instagram likes .
The lack of meaningful social interactions has caused an increase in mental health issues such as
social anxiety and depression, and adversely impacts human society. Digital technology
negatively affects happiness because it causes loneliness, mental illness and a disconnection from
the real world. Social platforms negatively affect happiness because it causes loneliness. As
social media becomes more pronounced in our daily lives, the further apart we grow from each
other physically and the closer we become on the internet. A person might have 2,000 friends on
Facebook but in reality has no real friends to connect with on a more personal level. The phrase,
your real friends, captures the anxieties that social media have produced: the fears that Facebook
along with other social media platforms is interfering with our real friendships,

Aluminum Nitrate Nonahydrate Lab Report
Aluminum isopropoxide (Al( O i Pr)3) and aluminum nitrate nonahydrate (ANN) were used as
alumina sources and tetra ethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) as a silica source. Mullite precursor gel
solution was prepared by dissolving stoichiometric amounts of aluminium isopropoxide and
TEOS in the aqueous solution of aluminium nitrate nonahydrate and stirring it vigorously for 2
hours. The molar ratio of Al( O i Pr)3/Al(NO3)3.9H2O was kept at 7:2 in order to form
spinnable sols and the mole ratio of Al/Si was 3:1. Moreover, pH of the solution was also
maintained at 5. By adding aqueous solution of five concentrations of thecopper salts 0.4 M, 0.6
M, 0.8 M, 1.0 M, and 1.2 M to the original solution and stirring it for 90 minutes, doped solutions
were prepared. The solution takes the gel form after vigorous stirring and overnight heating at

Classifying Different Types of Shoppers
In today s world things are a lot different than the way they used to be. People are becoming much
more alert and aware of things that are going on around them. Many people do not enjoy doing
things that other people enjoy. It can be a win or lose situation. There are some things in life that
people have to do whether they wantto or not. Throughout many different places many people
have to go do this on a daily basis. Lots of men usually do not want to be involved. It is usually
left for the women to take over. There are very many types of shoppers that people deal with on a
daily basis, they are different in many ways such as, children, young adults, and senior citizens.
By all means, shopping can be difficult for children for many reasons. To start, they are very
impatient. They do not want to wait for their parents to get done shopping, whatever they want
they expect to get it now.. When checking out at the register everything is in their reach. They are
then grabbing things and throwing that in the cart as well. Also, it is difficult with children
shopping because sometimes they can be combative. If a child does not get what they want then
they will most of the time throw themselves down and have a tantrum. It makes the parents look
so bad, as well as the child who is acting out. It is not good to be combative because then someone
may get hurt. After all, children shoppers do not care how much anything cost. They will just pick
any and everything up and place

Church-Hopper Monologue
The bell tolls. I stumble downstairs in a drear. I can t stand it, I can t stand this heaviness, this
heaviness in the air. I could scream. My feet begin to thud, thudding down the stairs. I shove the
front doors open. To hell with the repercussions. I run. I run like I have never run before. I let it
all drip away. The fog thickens around me, clouding my vision, tripping me up. It s the fog of me,
the fog I m releasing. My toes sink in the grass, squelching and sinking. I m lightas air now. It s like

Textual Evidence
Interpretation/Explanation
If you had known the virtue of the ring,
Or half her worthiness that gave the ring,
Or your own honor to contain the ring,
You would not then have parted with the ring.
What man is there so much unreasonable,
If you had pleased to have defended it
With any terms of zeal, wanted the modesty
To urge the thing held as a ceremony? (MV 5.1.199 206).
Throughout her monologue, Portia explains why Bassanio should not have given away her ring.
Refuting her own previous logic, Portia rebukes Bassanio for giving away her ring. One reason
why Portia is angry is because the ring was a symbol of Bassanio s love for her. Furthermore, one

Trees in Their Eyes Were Watching God
To see yourself like a tree in leaf is a beautiful way to go about life, at least it is for Janie in the
book Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston. It centers around Janie Crawford, a
Person of Color growing up in the 1930 s. She s independent and smart and strong willed and has
to learn how to live like that in a world working against her, she struggles with finding love, first
with a man she is forced to love, then with one who give her everything, and then with one who
makes her feel young. But seeing herself as a tree, Janie grows and changes as her life does,
expanding her branches. At numerous points in the book Janie compares herself to a tree, but the
author symbolizes the change and the relationship s within the book through the use of the
metaphor of wood and trees. Some examples of this are Mr.Killicks chopping firewood, the oak
tree in the centre of Eatonville, and Tea Cakes treatment of Janie s trees.
In the beginning of the book Janie s is forced to marry Logan Killicks, a older white man that has
good land and a good house. Janie doesn t want to marry him because she doesn t love him and
doesn t believe that she will be able to grow to love him. Logan is mentioned very little in the ...

Antibiotic Stewardship
Antibiotics are medicines used to treat infections or diseases caused by bacteria. Antibiotics work
by blocking vital processes in bacteria, killing the bacteria, or stopping them from multiplying. This
helps the body s natural immune system to fight the bacteria infection. Antibiotics do not affect the
quality of a beef product. There is an upcoming issue that needs to be addressed about antibiotic
resistance. Antibiotics differ in the types of bacteriathey work against. Antibiotics that affect a wide
range of bacteria are called broad spectrum antibiotic. For nearly thirty years, there have been
quality assurance programs to help reassure farmers and ranchers are continuously improving the
way they raise beef. This includes the way antibiotics are used to protect human health and animal
health as well, otherwise known as antibiotic stewardship. Antimicrobial stewardship is a
coordinated program that promotes the appropriate use of antimicrobials (including antibiotics),
improves patient outcomes, reduces microbial resistance, and decreases the spread of infections
caused by multidrug resistant organisms (Khabbaz ). There are some controversial... Show more

There is no reason to overuse antibiotics. It is not against the law to overuse them but antibiotics
also are expensive for the small businessmen and women who raise cattle for beef. All antibiotics
must go through demanding government inspection before being official for use in livestock.
Animal medicine goes through three layers of approval. Those three layers are making sure the
medicine is safe for the animal, safe for the environment, and safe for the humans who will
consume the meat. Each category must be evaluated before approval from the U.S. Food Drug

annually. If the product remains to be verified safe it will stay on the market for

10 Business Snapshot 1.1 Hedge Funds
CHAPTER 1
Hedge funds have become major users of derivatives for hedging, speculation, and arbitrage. A
hedge fund is similar to a mutual fund in that it invests funds on behalf of clients. However, unlike
mutual funds hedge funds are not required to register under U.S. federal securities law. This is
because they accept funds only from В®nancially sophisticated individuals and do not publicly
oВЂer their securities. Mutual funds are subject to regulations requiring that shares in the funds be
fairly priced, that the shares be redeemable at any time, that investment policies be disclosed, that
the use of leverage be limited, that no short positions be taken, and so on. Hedge funds are relatively

Note that a company might do better if it chooses not to hedge than if it chooses to hedge.
Alternatively, it might do worse. Consider ImportCo. If the exchange rate is 1.7000 on October 14
and the company has not hedged, the ВЈ10 million that it has to pay will cost $17,000,000, which is
less than $18,405,000. On the other hand, if the exchange rate is 1.9000, the ВЈ10 million will cost
$19,000,000Гђand the company will wish it had hedged! The position of ExportCo if it does not
hedge is the reverse. If the exchange rate in September proves to be less than 1.8400, the
company will wish it had hedged; if the rate is greater than 1.8400, it will be pleased it has not
done so. This example illustrates a key aspect of hedging. Hedging reduces the risk, but it is not
necessarily the case that the outcome with hedging will be better than the outcome without hedging.
Hedging Using Options
Options can also be used for hedging. Example 1.2 considers an investor who in May of a
particular year owns 1,000 Microsoft shares. The share price is $28 per share. The Example 1.2
Hedging with options It is May. An investor who owns 1,000 Microsoft shares wants protection
against a possible decline in the share price over the next two months. Market quotes are as
follows: Current Microsoft share price: $28 Microsoft July 27.50 put price: $1 The investor buys

Benefits And Benefits Of Employee Employees
perform each job. While training each employee in each area is time consuming it has many
benefits to the employees and to the business. By allowing employees to rotate though the
different jobs in the restaurant it helps prevent employee burn out in some of the higher stress
areas of the business. The cash register is one of these areas; employees are expected to have a
constant outgoing, happy appearance with customers and having to deal with the never ending calls
for takeout increases stress. On the other hand it allows for increased flexibility and shift coverage
for the businessowner. For instance, if one employee calls out sick and that employee were
scheduled to be the pizza maker for that night, it would be relatively easy to shift another worker
or call someone in to cover that position. This increased flexibility takes stress off of the business
owner and the employees. The owner also does a good job at trying to give employees the
opportunity for job enlargement; he allows employees to come up with specialty pizzas not on the
menu for the week, and whichever employee has the bestselling pizza at the end of the month gets
some kind of bonus. By allowing employees to use their creativity it keeps them involved and
caring for the business; which in turn improves the bottom line and efficiency of the company.
The design and structure that an owner uses in structuring their business can also affect how
employees view the business, positive or negative. The

The Pros And Cons Of The Homeland Security System
The homeland security system of the United States has a seemingly impossible task of preventing
all attacks on each and every aspect of our country. It is an extremely dangerous world we live in

improvements made to our securitysystem. To fully critique the capabilities of the homeland
security system of the United States, I m going to evaluate the performance, identify the
shortcomings, and then lastly suggest some improvements to prevent future challenges.
One of the best way to critique the capabilities of something is to look at the facts, and the patterns

We need to be much more selective on who enters this country. Especially when there are other
countries are in the middle of a civil war, leaving the world with millions of refugees to deal
with. Our borders lack the security needed to ensure no one enters the country illegally. After
these two have been accomplished we have stopped the bleeding , and only then we will be able
to limit the amount of lone wolf attackers in our country. Neither of these two strategies effect
our civil liberties that are protected by the constitution. After we have done as much as we
possibly can to eliminate an outside threat, we need to try and stand united. We need strong
leaders in every level of government to keep us focused on who the real enemy is. Lastly, we
need to figure out a strategy of identifying who U.S. citizens are mentally ill and need medical
attention. The last thing we need is a medically ill person driving when they shouldn t be, or
purchasing firearms when they should be. A friend or a loved one should be able to recognize an
issue and alert the proper authorities before something tragic happens.
If we are going to improve the future of the homeland security system, we have to stay one step
ahead. We have to do our best at predicting where the enemy is going to be. We have to realize
where our greatest vulnerabilities are. We have to constantly evaluate our system, and try to

The illumination that occurs with the archeological data is a deeper understanding of the
history of those who were like Jesus the lower middle class, not so well off citizens. This deeper
understanding of the way in which life was lived, the structures in which they resided, the
consequences of outside Greco Roman influence, and the overall culture of this place brings into
focus the birth, the life, and the death of Jesus. By understanding that Jesus was as Magness

It may be that the company perceives no profitable use for internally generated funds because of a

On the other hand, especially when a company offers to buy its shares at a substantial premium

of readers help them understand where she stands in the midst of this predicament. To do this, her
messages were developed through the use of several rhetorical devices and strategies such as
allusions, anecdotes, rhetorical questions, and metaphors. At the start of the excerpt, Kamenetz
utilizes an allusion to relate two significant events in American history. In the excerpt, she refers to

personal stories and historical references played a major role in developing her message,
Kamenetz also uses rhetorical questions in the excerpt. She questioned why everything America

dramatically affected sales within the automotive industry. The industry as a whole has been
struggling, but the U.S. companies have had the worst results. Also, the desired product mix has
recently changed to more fuel efficient vehicles instead of large SUV s and trucks (S P, 2008,

Until now, it was hoped that the fallout from the declines in home prices would be contained, first
to the sub prime market, then to broader real estate backed assets, and finally the hope was that the
damage could be restricted to just the financial sector. Unfortunately, each of these barriers have
been breached and combined with a broader unraveling of credit markets and a credit crunch. So,
we have seen continued spillovers into other areas of the economy, including the automobile
industry (New York Times). Not too long ago, the auto industry had room for small, independent
manufacturers such as Saab, Jaguar and Volvo. But since the mid to late 1980 s the industry s big
players have been buying up their smaller rivals (Forbes.com). The economic downturn, rising oil
prices, and the cost of developing new technologies have made it much harder for new entrants to
come into the industry. Therefore, new entrants do not pose a threat to the existing competitors of
the automotive industry due to the economy and the large capital requirements needed in order to
be successful. For example, at General Motors alone the company must raise an estimated
minimum of $15 billion in new capital to stay competitive within the industry (New York Times).
The new capital requirements will mostly be used to perform research and development. This

The Use of Memory Essay
The Use of Memory
Memory is the vital tool in learning and thinking . We all use memory in our everyday lives.
Think about the first time you ever tied your shoe laces or rode a bike; those are all forms of
memory , long term or short. If you do not remember anything from the past , you would never

Without memory you would simply be exposed to new and unfamiliar things . Life would be
absent and bare of the richness of it happy or sorrow. Many scientists are still unsure of all that

other learned material (Loftus p. 393). Retrieval failure is the inability to recall material or data
that has been stored (Loftus p. 393).
An example of this is when you try to think of a certain date or number , but fail to remember .
Later it will come naturally without any effort. The third reason is a loss of memory caused by
conscious or unconscious desires called motivated forgetting (Stevenson p. 393). Scientists
believe that many of us forget in purpose because we choose to. Motivated forgetting is closely
related to a process motivated by the needs and wishes of the individual called regression
(Memory p. 33). A very good example is when people gamble. When people gamble they choose to
remember all the times that they have won , and not the times that they lose. The last explanation
of forgetting is constructive process. This is involves the unconscious invention of false memories .
Memories became systematically distorted or changed over a long period

Summary: Still in doubt about the perfect straight hair hairstyle for your face shape? Check out the
trendiest of options for 2016.
Straight Hair Styling first originated towards the very end of the 19th century and ever since it has
evolved in leaps and bounds. The smooth, uniform texture provides one with a distinct advantage in
looking pretty. Class can be effortlessly associated with this form of styling owing to the shine it
naturally exhibits due to the flat surface of the hair. Let s have a look at 5 viable experiments that
can be implemented on straight hair by taking into consideration various face shapes.

Women with large foreheads can resort to this style in order to hide the extra margins, but with the
assistance of a straight haircut of medium length. The length can vary from person to person in
accordance with different face shapes.
Melted Shag
Another trendy style popular among women is the melted shag which is applicable for women with
long straight hairstyles. If the entire stretch of hair is demarcated into three quarters, the entire
stretch till the bottom (third) quarter is to remain plain and smooth. The third quarter is improvised
by effective ironing to give it a distinguished look and texture. The smoothness can be maintained
by carefully catering to all sections of the hair while straightening and is the most advisable for
women with round faces.
Round Layers
One might complain of hair falling on the face, especially the ones with straight hair. In order to
avoid this, round layers ensure that the front layers remain relatively short with it extending
towards the back. Styling agents are to be used in order to ensure the same and effective ironing
has to be resorted to for proper smoothening. Optimum levels of heat treatment are also advisable
for relevant enhancement of the same. Mainly women having a wide face shape can opt for this
hairstyle in order to receive the desired

Persuasive Essay On Gun On Campus
Guns on College Campuses
If one wants to know if guns should be allowed on college campus think of this: When will the
next college be hit? How many will get shot and killed? Will it be your kids? When is the last
time you will be able to see your kids? Now since I got this running through your head don t you
think its right for college students to be able to carry a gun if they re qualified?
College students who have a good background check and no felonies should be able to carry
guns on their campus nationwide. I personally think a lot more kids would feel safer if they could
have a gun on them everyday for protection. All the good students will be able to carry. There can
not be even one student that can carry a gun that has a bad history ... Show more content on

At college or not yes any one can get killed but think of it like this it almost a holiday your kid is
supposed to come home for the holiday and they are on their last day before break. Well, what if
the school gets shot up? And you have been waiting on him or her to come home you made a
nice dinner for the family or something. You re just sitting outside waiting on your kid never
shows up then you get a call. Or cops come up to your house and tell you what happened. Or if
the news comes on and says such and such college got shot up so many kids got hurt, shot or
killed. See if your kid did have a gun he or she has a lot of a better chance to survive a college
shot up because a twisted minded guy or girl that isn t straight in the mind and starts to shoot
everyone. And knowing that they can carry guns you know that they have gun control classes so
they have protection and you wouldn t have to worry about your kid being killed because they
have their own protection and while police are out trying to stop them they have back up and the
shooter doesn t have an idea of you having a gun you could take him out from a different side.
If you have ever notice its all the collages that has the no gun sign on the door that s when a lot of
shooters like to shoot up the place is because they know the kids wont have protection to save
them self no if the signs were not up there they wouldn t have any idea

The Effects Of Alcohol Lowers Blood Glucose Levels By...
Alcohol lowers blood glucose levels by stimulating insulin production. This is detected by the beta
cells of the pancreatic islets and the secretion of insulin is induced. Each hormone has a very
specific protein that it will bind to. These are called hormone receptors and once they are bound to
the hormone they stimulate a particular response in the cell. Hormones circulate the bloodstream
until they find a cell that has the ideal receptor attached to it. Once insulinis secreted into the
bloodstream, the hormone stimulates cells, especially muscle and adipose cells, to take up
glucose from the blood. The transport of glucose into cells is done by facilitated diffusion.
Glucose cannot get across a membrane unless specific transporters are in the membrane to provide
a channel for the glucose to move through. Since it is facilitated diffusion, glucose will be
transported from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration (i.e., down the
gradient). The transporters of glucose is called GLUT (GLUcose Transporter), the main transporter
is GLUT4. As insulin travels through the bloodstream, it finds its specific receptors on the surface
of liver cells, muscle cells and adipose cells. When the insulin binds to the insulin receptor on the
cell membranes, cells are stimulated to increase the number of glucose transporters. This is an
effect allowing the hormone on the outside of the cell to regulate functions inside the cell even
though the hormone has not entered the

Solution-Focused Therapy History
Solution Focused Therapy: A History, Case Study, and Application Solution focused therapy is a
form of brief therapy that is a relatively new model of treatment. SFT is client centered and focuses
on the solution to a presenting complaint, rather than focusing on the complaint itself, as seen in
most other forms of therapy. The therapist empowers and praises the client as they employ new
thinking about their issue(s), and attention is drawn to both the fact that while the problem is
pervasive, it is not constant, nor impossible to be free of. The therapist takes the role of a guide
and supportive collaborator, and the client dictates what the best possible recourse is necessary to
eliminate the issue from the client s life. The birthplace... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Often one session is sufficient. It has been estimated that if three sessions yield no improvements,
then it is unlikely to work and should be referred to an alternative form of therapy (Iveson ,2002).
Generally, the duration between sessions lengthens as the sessions increase. A solution focused
therapist operates on several assumptions regarding the client: problems are maintained through
interactions; there are always solutions to any presenting complaint; there are multiple possible
solutions available; solutions are constructed; the client and therapist can jointly craft the solution;
and the construction of solutions can be explained and modeled (Brandman University,

Of The United States
Honduras Columbus explored Honduras in 1502. Spain had control over Honduras until 1821,
which is when they declared their independence. Honduras and four other Central American nations
formed a federation of states. It was not until 1838 Honduras became completely independent by
separating from the federation. While Honduras was under Spain s control, educationwas associated
with the Roman Catholic Church. The students who attended schoolin Honduras typically came
from higher social classes. In the late 19th century Honduras was not associated with the Roman
Catholic Church and became non denominational in their school systems. Catholic schools still
existed, but were not present in public schools. The Sectorial Plan of Education was from 1994
1997, which was created to form a new Honduran type. They were focused on creating a new
society. As a result of the plan they created a new society called the Morazanican School. The
education system was greatly affected by Hurricane Mitch. This natural disaster was one of the
deadliest, which resulted in many buildings being destroyed. As a result of Hurricane Mitch the
Honduran government began to rethink their education system. In 1998 a new system was created
called The Proposal of the Honduran Civil Society for the Educative Transformation.
In 2004 Honduran President Ricardo Maduro made an attempt to change the education system.
Even if they were to make changes to their education system it would take a minimum of 23

  • 2. Gender Roles Of Women And Women Gender is one of the greatest factors that can determine how we define ourselves and others. Although gender is determined at birth for many, it does not influence one s identity of self until a later age. How society views the roles of each gender influences how a person views themselves. As the views changes, so does one s identity. In the past, the roles of men and women were defined and separated. Men were expected to provide income for the family, while women were expected to take care of the home. Doing things outside these roles caused negative reactions from the community and frowned upon. Today, there is still a difference between men and women, but a lot of the roles have become acceptable for both. Within my culture, gender roles have generally been set and defined to conform to preexisting traditions. Men were viewed as strong and the bread earner and women were weak, unintelligent family care takers. To this day, I feel this notion still exists in the contemporary society due to the deep seated nature of Confucianism in the Chinese culture. Even in Chinese school, we were assigned gender roles and taught proverbial stories instilled with concepts regarding women s inferiority and subordination to men by nature. These gender constructs were enforced beyond childhood and some of my Chinese classes even imposed gender specific behavioral conventions. Many of my textbooks would mainly revolve around male characters as opposed to female characters and there were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. In “Worship At The Altar of Convergence”, Henry Jenkins... In Worship At The Altar of Convergence , Henry Jenkins discusses the concept of convergence, where both old and new media collide. Jenkins describes convergence as the flow of content between multiple media platforms, industries, and the migratory behaviour that is present throughout the media audience (2). He explains that convergence is a necessity because it describes technological, industrial, cultural and social changes that are present in our technological society. That being said, Jenkins analyzes the relation between mediaconvergence, participatory culture, and collective intelligence. Jenkins argues that American popular culture will be redefined by the struggles over convergence and media. With the idea of profit in mind, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This relates to what Jenkins was describing as the process of convergence, where consumers demand more advanced phones. Although there may be the odd few that prefer single function phones, they are cheap yet harder to find now a days due to the high demand for advanced technology. This shows how the growth of convergence culture increases by relying heavily of the consumer s active participation in order to succeed. Jenkins talks about how the consumption of media products is a collective process, in other words, the collective intelligence is seen as an alternative source of media power. He describes how within popular culture, the collective meaning making is shaping and changing the ways religion, education, laws, politics, advertising and how the military operate (4). Jenkins discusses a process called convergence of modes , he explains that media and communication are becoming interconnected like the telephone and television. Overall, Jenkins is interested on the impact convergence has on popular culture, however, considering the process of convergence of modes, he recognizes that popular and political cultural are beginning to blur. Like cultural, both new and old media alike are begging to blur and evolve, while delivery technologies become obsolete and get replaced. An example would be the replacement of floppy disk to CDs and more commonly now, the use of USBs, Jenkins describes this as The Black Box Fallacy , where media combine as one ... This is something that the Templars themselves may have recognized. Abraxas seems to have played a central role in the Gnostic cult of Basilides in the second century A.D. Basilides was an Alexandrian mystic and teacher who for all intents and purposes can only be extracted from heresiological sources from the Church Fathers. He is either depicted as a disciple of Menander or Saturninus (both of whom belonged to the Simonian schools of Simon Magus in Syria and Alexandria, Egypt) or an interpreter of St. Peter named Glaucias. And it is interesting to note that Basilides is said to come out of these two supposed diametrically opposed traditions (being Simon Magus and St. Peter). Basilides was more than likely the first... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Faith was an inborn assent of the soul and is equated to gnosis . It wasn t a matter of instruction or indoctrination. It was a sort of nature, in fact. Perhaps faith and knowledge for Basilides was the same thing. Basilides, therefore, had a lot in common with other Gnostics and eventually with the later Protestant John Calvin as they all shared the idea of predestined salvation. The three nature doctrine attests to this. The elect were those who had the capacity for faith, and considered themselves strangers or aliens to the world and long for salvation in Christ and the transcendent. Those who are incapable of faith, who feel perfectly at home in the world of matter are what Basilides calls worthless or swine and dogs. Ouch! • 14. The Misconceptions Of Authoritarianism Authoritarianism is a regime type and, furthermore, a political vision that seeks to create compliance in authority and establish order and peace by striving for absolute legitimacy. In an authoritarian regime, power relations are vertically organized, where there is little to no accountability for those in power and where civil and political rights of citizens, if established, are restrictive and violated. Two common misconceptions of authoritarianismare that they are durable and they have always have a paternal figure as leader. To the first point: though an authoritarian regime would be relatively simple to establish, the difficult task of legitimizing and consolidating absolute authority makes authoritarian rule an incredibly arduous endeavour. Authoritarian regimes can easily be snubbed out as quickly as they began to burn, pointing to how the legitimacy of authority is by far the most essential tool to the authoritarian. But who is the authoritarian? Many see authoritarian regimes as patrimonial, meaning that though there still might be complex institutions of bureaucracy, security, and even political parties, all authority comes from the top and the top alone. However, there can also be authoritarian regimes run by an institution, whether through a military junta or hegemonic political party. Authoritarianism can easily derive from civil society instead of through the military, yet the coercive powers of military are essential for consolidating power. The rise and ... There were actions taken towards this by Congress, but the problem is that it was never completely abolished. Congress had made the mistake of creating a way around it. It is now commonly referred to as the Las Vegas loophole. They outlawed the betting nationwide with the exception of one state, one state that is the capital of gambling, Nevada. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People of all kinds are in agreeance that the impact of this law would hardly be worth the effort. John Shelk, vice president of the American Gaming Association, also stated It s not like Congress is going to pass a law that bans legal gambling, and students across the country will say, В‘Oh my God, I can t gamble anymore because it s illegal. Sen. McCain, co author of last year s Senate bill, had countered his opinion to ESPN.com by saying, I don t think we have to choose between enforcing existing laws on illegal gambling and closing the loophole on legal gambling. McCain added, we can do both. McCain and others claim that eliminating legalized gambling in Nevada would be an essential first step on stopping the college sports gambling. Critics disagree. They believe that the attempt to chip away at illegal sports gambling isn t a logical first step, at all. The fact of the college sports gambling, is that there is too much publicity, popularity, and money surrounding this particular gambling sport. In the beginning there was a problem with popularity. After the boys had gathered enough wood for a fire, and the adults had breakfast prepared to be cooked, the scouts constructed a roaring fire for everyone to cook their food over. Breakfast was set to be fish. Since we were without any electronics or cooking devices, we made hobo packs, which consisted of putting all of our food in an aluminum foil wrap and heating it. Present Tommy is obsessed on saving his wife Izzi from her fatal brain tumor, while Future Tommy is taking a tree, presumably Izzi, to Shibalba to be healed. He is unable to accept the death of someone that he loves, and therefore puts all his time and efforts into curing death. I love the intensity and the relationship in football CoachLorio explaining with a passionate expression. I can see it in his eyes that he is very dedicated and hardworking coach. As of now he is 62 years old and still willing to coach. It s not the same without coaching. The joy and the sorrow I feel during the season has been addicted to me. I ve been in this game almost all my life and that is a very long time. From the article of Sports Nola, Nick Kreugar wrote about Dennis Lorio: He was offensive coordinator at East St. John for the past two years, but resigned for family reasons last October. He is well known for his time at Thibodaux and led them to the inaugural 5A state championship in 1991. Lorio also spent time as LSU offensive line coach from 1992 94 and returned to Thibodaux in 2008 leading the Tigers to a 27 12 record with 5A state quarterfinal playoff runs in 2008 and 2009. He has a career coaching record of 105 70. Even tough he lives in New Orleans, he drives an hour for his work every day. In 2013, Coach Lorio took a challenge by coaching the Morgan City Tigers after he resigned from Thibodaux. The internet has become increasingly accessible with new smartphones and smart devices, and with them came new social media applications. Social media has now become a large factor in the lives of many people across the globe as a means of finding and distributing information. People spend more and more time on the internet, and less time having face to face human interactions. Instead of human interactions and networking, popularity and social status is now based on friends on Facebook, followers on Twitter, and Instagram likes . The lack of meaningful social interactions has caused an increase in mental health issues such as social anxiety and depression, and adversely impacts human society. Digital technology negatively affects happiness because it causes loneliness, mental illness and a disconnection from the real world. Social platforms negatively affect happiness because it causes loneliness. As social media becomes more pronounced in our daily lives, the further apart we grow from each other physically and the closer we become on the internet. A person might have 2,000 friends on Facebook but in reality has no real friends to connect with on a more personal level. The phrase, your real friends, captures the anxieties that social media have produced: the fears that Facebook along with other social media platforms is interfering with our real friendships, ... By allowing employees to rotate though the different jobs in the restaurant it helps prevent employee burn out in some of the higher stress areas of the business. The cash register is one of these areas; employees are expected to have a constant outgoing, happy appearance with customers and having to deal with the never ending calls for takeout increases stress. On the other hand it allows for increased flexibility and shift coverage for the businessowner. For instance, if one employee calls out sick and that employee were scheduled to be the pizza maker for that night, it would be relatively easy to shift another worker or call someone in to cover that position. This increased flexibility takes stress off of the business owner and the employees. The owner also does a good job at trying to give employees the opportunity for job enlargement; he allows employees to come up with specialty pizzas not on the menu for the week, and whichever employee has the bestselling pizza at the end of the month gets some kind of bonus. By allowing employees to use their creativity it keeps them involved and caring for the business; which in turn improves the bottom line and efficiency of the company. Not surprisingly , people forget more and more as time progresses. The chief explanations for forgetting include interference, retrieval, failure , motivated forgetting, and constructive processes (Loftus p. 393). Interference occurs when the remembering of certain learned material blocks the memory of other learned material (Loftus p. 393). Retrieval failure is the inability to recall material or data that has been stored (Loftus p. 393). An example of this is when you try to think of a certain date or number , but fail to remember . Later it will come naturally without any effort. The third reason is a loss of memory caused by conscious or unconscious desires called motivated forgetting (Stevenson p. 393). Scientists believe that many of us forget in purpose because we choose to. Motivated forgetting is closely related to a process motivated by the needs and wishes of the individual called regression (Memory p. 33). A very good example is when people gamble. • 45. The Effects Of Alcohol Lowers Blood Glucose Levels By... Alcohol lowers blood glucose levels by stimulating insulin production. This is detected by the beta cells of the pancreatic islets and the secretion of insulin is induced. Each hormone has a very specific protein that it will bind to. These are called hormone receptors and once they are bound to the hormone they stimulate a particular response in the cell. Hormones circulate the bloodstream until they find a cell that has the ideal receptor attached to it. Once insulinis secreted into the bloodstream, the hormone stimulates cells, especially muscle and adipose cells, to take up glucose from the blood. The transport of glucose into cells is done by facilitated diffusion. Glucose cannot get across a membrane unless specific transporters are in the membrane to provide a channel for the glucose to move through. Since it is facilitated diffusion, glucose will be transported from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration (i.e., down the gradient). The transporters of glucose is called GLUT (GLUcose Transporter), the main transporter is GLUT4. As insulin travels through the bloodstream, it finds its specific receptors on the surface of liver cells, muscle cells and adipose cells. When the insulin binds to the insulin receptor on the cell membranes, cells are stimulated to increase the number of glucose transporters. This is an effect allowing the hormone on the outside of the cell to regulate functions inside the cell even though the hormone has not entered the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It has been estimated that if three sessions yield no improvements, then it is unlikely to work and should be referred to an alternative form of therapy (Iveson ,2002).
