Object 1: The Moon
Next to the Sun, the moon is the most recognizable object in the night sky, and is Earth s only natural
satellite. It has been estimated that the moon formed somewhere in the region of 4.45 billion years
ago, just a measly 30 50 million years after the origination of the Solar System. While there are many
hypotheses that try to account for the formation of the moon, the one that is backed the greatest is the
theory that the moon was formed when a large mass roughly the size of Mars collided with the newly
formed Earth, this sending out planetary material into the same orbit of the Earth. This material then
underwent the process of accretion and formed what we now know as the moon. With modern laser
altimetry, scientists have been able to accurately measure the topography of the moon. The most
apparent topographic feature on the moon is located on the southern pole, is referred to as the Aitken
basin, and stretches nearly 1400 miles in diameter. This is the largest crater on the moon and the
largest known crater in the Solar System. Not only is this the widest crater on the moon, but its floor is
also the lowest point on the surface of the moon. The dark spots that are visible with the naked eye are
called maria, and they are actually hardened pools of ancient basaltic lava. Next to the maria, the most
commonly seen features of the moon are the impact craters that pepper the entire surface.

Media and Society

Media portrayal of sex and violence between today and my past. Media is a mode of communication
which acts to be a link between the people in today s society. There were many different issues
presented between today and earlier days in the case of media portrayal of sex and violence. Today the
media represents the stories of sex and violence in every single newspaper, video, radio and channels
as opposed to the past, the media was considered to be reliable and a big supporter of the society.

Recommendations for minimizing problems of media portrayals
Entertainment and Education programs I think this is one of the best ideas there is to do for
embedding the behaviors of the audiences in order to minimize the problems of media portrayal of sex
and violence. This is used to reach the intended audiences through radio and TV programs for
minimizing the media problems and this can be reduced by attracting audiences through irresistible
programs.
The new kinds of technologies were also used for shrinking the problems of media portrayal of sex
and violence. The technologies that the media have includes the Social Networking sites, such as
Facebook, Instagram and other interactive websites. These Social Media websites were used to reach
the sexual health audiences for mobile target audiences. The sexual health message of media
technologies could make awareness for minimizing the problems of portrayal of sex and violence.
Media Advocacy Media advocacy can reduce the problems of media portrayals of sex and violence.

Marketing Communication Objective
Marketing communication objective
Planning is everything when it comes to measuring your success. If you fail to plan, it s like a sailboat
in the middle of the ocean without sails; you have no clue in which direction you will be sailing. This
is why developing a marketing communication objective is paramount to your marketing success.
What is marketing communications without having an objective? After all, an objective is the goal
intended to be attained, which should be attainable and can be measured. Objectives should also be
accomplished within a time period.
Now, having said that, what specifically is a marketing communications objective?
Found in both the marcomm plan and creative strategy statements, the marketing communication ...

The tone and style used to communicate the message would be presented in a persuasive, friendly,

Creative Execution:
Since we recommend that a fair percent of the advertising be done with tv and radio various
techniques can be used to best present Carl s Jr. benefits to the target audience. Endorsements is a
technique that Carl s Jr. has already used somewhat successfully and could continue to do so by
getting endorsements from celebrities that would be easily recognized and accepted by the target

Defining My Project Came As A Challenge For Me
Defining my project came as a challenge to me. I originally wanted to choose something that was
similar to my partner, Brian s, topic. After looking through my options and speaking to my partner I
eventually gave up and chose to research a topic I had much more interest in. I ended up choosing
commercial aviation and more specifically the selection process in which materials are chosen for the
wings used in the commercial aircraft. With the goal of becoming an aerospace engineer, I felt this
topic was something I could get involved with on higher level and it would definitely help me put
more effort into my research and in return I would achieve something out of it. Working with my
partner Brian was also a pleasurable experience. Although ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using various sources I was able to come up with many questions and answers about my topic. Before
actually looking into the materials used in the wings, I translated the requirements similarly to Ashby s
method. I wrote down an initial function for the wings and its constraints and objective. Using this
outline I started my research. Of course, with any engineering design there were many steps before the
actual design process. This is usually defining the actual function. In the case of the aircraft wings the
actual function is to provide lift for the aircraft and contain an assortment of devices and other
materials in the interior safely and efficiently. Because many lives will be at stake if the wings fail,
safety is one of the ultimate concerns. During my research I looked up many of the potential
conditions that aircraft wings go through. To function, the wings have to deal with a variety of forces
and loads. But, the main goal is obviously not to have one successful flight and start over. The wings
have to last many years, with proper maintenance. Therefore the main objective for many engineers is
to come up with a design that can withstand an extensive amount of cycles, and also be cost effective.
I looked up the average life of an aircraft and it varied by manufacturer. It averaged around to be a
100,000 cycles before a commercial jet was retired. To reach this

First Heart Transplants
1 FIRST HEART TRANSPLANT PAPER God planted in every single human the desire to live, and
knowing that, men have searched for so many ways to live a longer life. Knowing so many humans
were dying because of their heart not functioning well and looking at others die with a perfectly
healthy heart gave humans a great idea! The idea of saving people s life through a heart transplant,
something never on earth heard of but worth giving a try. The research of a finding a way to give a
heart transplant to many people with heart diseases had begun. From the late 1700s until the early
1900s, many different scientist began gathering all types of information. Surgeons back then would
transplant organs in the lab research, and many of those transplants ... Show more content on

the transplant surgery. After the surgery, Lewis was prescribed medications to restrain his immune
system and keep his body from rejecting the heart. Sadly after eighteen days of the surgery Lewis
Washkansky passed away. Doctors say his heart functioned really well until the day he died. Lewis
Washkansky gave surgeons the motivation to keep working on heart transplants because they were
successful! Nowadays, doctors, scientist, all of us are searching for a way to live a longer or fulfilled
life. We have heart transplants successfully functioning thanks to many scientist who worked hard to
look over every small detail to come up with a perfect heart transplant. To this day humans keep

Scholars As Well As Public Figures Have Suggested That
Scholars as well as public figures have suggested that a world run by women would, fundamentally,
be a more peaceful and equal one. ladies, as the stereotype goes (and, actually, as a decent amount of
empirical research suggests), tend to be more collaborative in work and leadership, more empathetic,
and much, much less violent on an individual level. ,as Vice President Joe Biden recently suggested
foreign policy is a logical extension of personal relationships, and if women are widely acknowledged
to be canny at conducting them, perhaps it follows that female leadership in international affairs would
produce more empathy and collaboration between countries. To the extent that global problems like
violence and inequality are failures of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is the precondition for such peace. There cannot be peace between nations until there is peace
between the two halves of humanity, the mothers and fathers of all living and all yet to live. Steinem
sees a connection between what we have chosen to normalize in male female relations, and what we
see at the level of state and society.
The family is the basic cell of the government, she explains, it is where we are trained to believe that
we are human beings or that we are chattel, it is where we are trained to see the sex and race divisions
and become callous to injustice even if it is done to ourselves, to accept as biological a full system of
authoritarian government.
Truly, it should not come as a surprise to us that societies which are rooted in male dominance over
females are in no way peaceful or democratic; as noted by Steinem. We are never going to have
democratic countries or peaceful countries until we have democratic or peaceful families because you
must teach men to dominate in order to maintain a male dominated system and that is a very ugly
education, indeed, where the first to be dominated are those within men s own families who are
different from them
Domestic violence is the seedbed of all other violence based on

Research Methodology For The Research
CHAPTER 3
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Introduction
In doing the research, the methodology must be appropriate so that the analysis findings could reach
the objective. Research methodology proposed one procedure in order way to be follow to answer all
the questions in the research that want to be made. Quoted by Denzin and Lincoln (1994),
methodology is a process that related with research objective and data. In the others word, it is early
research planning that include the research scope, data collection method, data collection process and
data analysis method. For Ranjit (2005), methodology is one of crucial part in research, in order to
ensure the research can be done in the systematic way Overall, this chapter will discuss on the
research frame and the methodologies used in order to meet the research objectives. Research process
been divided into three main parts there are preliminary research part, data collection and last one data
analysis.
Research Methodologies
Research methodology is a way how the research is conducted step by step and in order. There are two
methods used for data collection which is the primary data and secondary data. These data can be
obtained and used many ways. The data is taken and analyzed in advance to produce a result that we
can use for research and future reference. This study will relate to the objective we want to achieve
and finding the answer to every objective we seek. In order to successfully achieve the objectives we
seek, we must know

In Harm s Way Summary
In the book, In Harm s Way, by Doug Stanton the setting starts off in Litchfield, Connecticut, on
Winvian Farm. The farm is described as being in rich horse country . It is the home of Captain Charles
Butler McVay III. However, the majority of the book is set in late World War II, and the setting centers
around the USS Indianapolis. For short she is referred to as the Indy. The ship is 133 feet tall, and 610
feet long, with a top speed of 32.75 knots, and 3 4 inch armor plating. The ship is a battle cruiser.
Amongst other things it has 2 radio rooms, 4 boiler rooms, and an airplane hangar. Towards the middle
of the book the setting is the Pacific Ocean. The oceans waters are full of sharks and debris from the
sunken ship. The main characters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is an experienced commander whom the crew holds in high regard. Dr. Haynes is one of the oldest
men on the ship, and is experienced as well. He serves on board as the doctor and is close friends with
the priest, Father Conway. Private McCoy is in his 13th month of service, and treats his job seriously.
The problem in the book is the torpedoing of the Indy, and the struggle of its surviving crew to remain
alive. They all face many challenges as they drift in the ocean. One important event in the book is
when the conflict between two high ranking admirals is revealed. Each admiral is trying to control the
U.S navy, and in that conflict, important information can be missed. That is major foreshadowing, as it
is later revealed one of the reasons for the long response to the failure of the Indy to arrive where it
was needed was the disarray caused by the two admirals. Another important event is the torpedoing of
the Indy. It is important because it is the start of all the conflict and danger. The ship is taking damage,
listing, and people are falling overboard without life vests. They crew struggles and many crewman
are confused and desperate to survive. Furthermore, another important event is when the survivors

Because the United States lifted the embargo on Cuba the economy on the island will be boosted,

Cuba. This advancement will hopefully improve the lives of the citizens living in Cuba.
The President is also hoping to reshape Cuban policies. The goal of cutting off Cuba was to hopefully

Georges Seurat s Young Woman Powdering Herself
At the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston I choose Georges Seurat s painting, Young Woman Powdering
Herself . Seurat s painting portrays Seurat s mistress who Georges kept a secrete relationship with for
about 3 years. Georges Seurat carries out Young Woman Powdering Herself during the 19th century.
Majority of Georges Seurat s work is considered to have a French/ Impressionist style. The medium
and technique used for Young Woman Powdering Herself is an oil on canvas. By using oil paints on
his work, Seurat is able to make the colors as well as the vivid colors on his work standout, which
ultimately reinforces the subject.
There were no evident clues in which showed why Georges Seurat painted Young Woman Powdering
Herself. However, one can infer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The two elements Seurat s uses in his work are light and pointillism. The use of theses two elements
help brings femininity and beauty to his painting. Georges is known for bringing out light in how it
appears in nature in his work. Through the of the medium of pointillism, Seurat is able to create a
bigger picture in his work. Seurat use of the element light helps show hoe light bounce around. For
instance, the way the light travels through the open window and bounces off of the young woman s
skin shows the light that is being presented. Through this, Seurat reveals the light in places where the
light hits first.
Through Georges Seurat s use of numerous shades of color such as tint, value, warms colors, and cool
colors he is able to create a certain mood/feeling. His use of tint in multiple areas helps bring depth to
the painting. The use of value of the colors is used to portray the lightness and darkness in the
painting. The usage of warm colors in the painting, which is primarily around the woman in the center
create a mood of warmth toward her. Lastly, the use of cool colors in the background aid in allowing
the viewer to focus more on the woman and the

Flood Myths Essay examples
Flood Myths
Myths from many different cultures seem to tell the same story. Themes from Babylonian myth can be
seen in Egyptian stories; elements of Christian theology are evident in some ancient Chinese texts, and
so on. How is this possible? How can cultures that have had little physical contact present us with
such analogous narratives? These questions grow more perplexing when time is considered. Many of
these tales are not only from separate corners of the earth, but also seem to have been written in vastly
disparate time periods. This being said, it is still a fact that these cultures do rely on a number of
shared stories. The hero exists universally; and often shares a number of elements across cultural
boundaries. All ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yahweh looks down upon the men and women he has created and is saddened by their lack of values.
He decides to rid the earth of this corrupt age and begin anew. Both versions then have a god choosing
to save one man. The Babylonian version tells us of Utnapishtim. He is warned of Enlil s plan by Ea,
through a dream, and is instructed to build a great boat. Noah was the only man on earth still in
Yahweh s favor. So he came to Noah and told him to also build a boat.
The men are then instructed to take with them certain people, animals and possessions. Ea tells
Utnapishtim to bring with him family and kin, gold, beasts, both wild and tame, and craftsmen. Noah
is advised to take only his family and a pair of each of the earth s animals onto his boat. The items
each man is directed to take says a great deal about the culture associated with each story. The
Christian world is focused on piety and stresses the importance of denying oneself material wealth.
Noah is not told to bring with him any worldly possessions unlike Utnapishtim who is told to take
gold. Utnapishtim is also told to bring craftsmen, which emphasizes the important role they played in
Babylonian culture.
As the flood begins each man is warned that it will soon be time to board his boat. However, the
amount of time each man is given to prepare varies considerably between the two stories. Noah is
given seven days to load all of the animals onto the ark, while Shamash comes to Utnapishtim and

a. How the World Wide Web works.... The World Wide Web is an organisation in which web resources
and other documents are identified by URLs as well as interlinked by hypertext documents and can be
amassed over the internet.
The World Wide Web works through the http protocol and the servers connected to the web attend
requests through the internet. The URL consists of protocol in which the server retrieves the indicated
document and creates a response which is sent back to the user.
b. The purpose of ISPs.... An ISP (internet service provider) is an institution and its purpose is to
provide assistance to individuals and groups that are accessing the internet. The more popular and
bigger ISPs such as BT are less dependent on telecommunication providers as they have their own
high speed connection and therefore are able to provide better assistance to their users.
c. The web hosting services that ISPs provide for business.... A web hosting service allows individuals

The Destruction of Yellow Fever
A disease that has yet to be conquered (Barrett Higgs, 2007). Such a quaint, simplistic phrase that yet
effectively describes the disease commonly known today as yellow fever. Over the course of history,
the yellow fever virus (YFV) has decimated populations in various regions all across the globe. While
the overall gross impact of yellow fever has declined over the years, the virus still poses a significant
threat present day, especially to those in the developing world. The World Health Organization
currently estimates that approximately 200,000 cases of yellow fever occur around the world each
year, resulting in 30,000 fatalities (Bundschuh et al, 2013). Presently, yellow fever remains without a
legitimate cure, and the best defence against the virus lies with preventative action. WHO identifies its
three major yellow fever prevention strategies as vaccination, mosquito control, and epidemic
response (WHO Yellow Fever Fact Sheet, 2014). This being said, through the combined efforts of
scientists, medical workers, governments, and international agencies alike, the yellow fever virus has
been confined to endemic areas throughout Africa and Latin America (Barrett Higgs, 2007, p.209).
With regards to the epidemiological nature of yellow fever, geographic factors and influences clearly
play a significant role. Environments, both physical and human (ie. social), directly correlate to how
the virus behaves, adapts, and survives. Through the analysis its biology, its

Ginneken et al. (2010:1115) explains that CHWs were located in health clinics full time and were no
longer flexible community based workers. Their responsibility to the community changed for the
worse. Many CHWs started resenting unpaid requests from fellow villagers. The government now has
this huge thing, they ve got this small business programme, the pay roll. And the village health
workers, if the pay doesn t come out, they toy toy , they don t go to work (Ginneken et al. 2010:1115).
Introducing this stipend caused CHWs to reject volunteer work.
A CHW Framework has been established by South Africa to guide the development of a national
CHW programme. This Framework has failed to recognize diversity, needs and flexibility, and this has
cause to say the aim is invalid. The current potential professionalisation of CHWs makes the ideal
bridging gap between the community and the health system more distant. Once the diversity, needs of
people, and the flexibility within the CHW programme s are recognised, the gap between the
community and the health system will be inexistent (Ginneken et al. 2010:1116).

The Theme of Kate Chopin’s “the Storm” Essay
Kate Chopin in the Storm uses symbolism in characters to develop the theme that marriages are not

able to convey the emotions of her characters throughout the story because the storm that takes place
at the very beginning of her story. As the storm approaches Calixta is home sewing, while husband
Bobinot and son Bibi are out at the store. Bobinot notices the sombre clouds that were rolling with

storm is menacing, it rolls in somber...with sinister intention. Chopin allows us to see the storm build
up slowly, reaching its highpoint, and passing. The storm builds chaotically to its climax, Alcee and
Calixta are together. As the storm dies out and fades away everything is quiet again in terms of the

attention, working memory, and executive functioning that can be traced back to the frontal lobes
(Nunez, el al 2011). In addition researchers have also found smaller volumes of basal ganglia, which
is a group of nuclei associated with motor control and learning (Nunez, el al 2011). Furthermore,
caudate nucleus, which is inside the basal ganglia has also been found to be smaller in individuals was
FASD (Nunez, el al 2011). Caudate nucleus is associated with mental flexibility and behaviour
inhibition (Nunez, el al 2011). The hypothalamus, which is most responsible for its link with the
nervous system was also found to be smaller in individuals was FASD (Nunez, el al 2011). Moreover,
the thalamus was also found to be of smaller volume and is responsible for relaying motor and sensory
signals to the cerebral cortex (Nunez, el al 2011). Luckily studies have also found that the
hippocampus, which required for the formation of memories was left relatively normal (Nunez, el al
2011). The most affected area has been pinpointed as being the anterior vermis, located inside the

Analysis Of `` Daddy `` By Sylvia Plath
Imagine growing up with a father so cruel, he haunts you far beyond his death. Well, in the poem
Daddy , this nightmare is a reality. The speaker of the poem is nearly 30 years old before she can
finally put her demons to rest. Her father has left her in ruins, unable to maintain a healthy mind or a
stable life. Sylvia Plath paints this vivid picture of this nightmare using a number of allusions. While
Plath begins the poem with childish, innocent allusions, she soon switches to horrid references of the
Holocaust and demons to depict the evil of the speaker s father.
After switching from her allusion to a fairytale, the speaker begins her allusion to the Holocaust,
calling herself a Jew. Following her introduction to this allusion, she references the snows of the Tyrol
and the clear beer of Vienna and says they Are not very pure or true. The speaker uses satire in this
line to parallel her father s expectations to a Nazi s. Vienna and Tyrol border Germany and the speaker
satirically says that the clear beer of Vienna and the snows of Tyrol are not very pure. The Nazis
viewed the people of these places as lesser because they did not fit the Nazis ideals. The speaker uses
this comparison to reveal that her father treated her as a Nazi treats a Jew. In the upcoming stanzas,
she again uses the allusion to Nazi Germany. She says, Not God but a swastika. Referring back to her
earlier line where she calls her father a bag full of God , Plath reverses the speakers tone

Cognitive Observations In Eating Pancakes
Introduction
In the Eating Pancakes tape segment, Augie is approximately two and a half years old. Augie is sitting
at the dining table, eating a breakfast of pancakes with his grandmother, grandfather, Uncle Andres
and his father. In the Snake tape segment, Bunny is four years old. Bunny is sitting on the sofa with
his mother. In both tapes, Augie and Bunny are in a familiar environment with family members he
seemingly spends a great deal of time and feels comfortable with.
Cognitive Observations
From two to seven years old, children experience the second stage of Jean Piaget s theory of cognitive
development, known as the preoperational stage. During this stage, children develop the ability to
represent their experiences though language, mental imagery and symbolic thought. It is referred to as
preoperational because children are not quite able to perform more complex mental operations
(Siegler, 2014). During the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the picture on the front of the box. Augie says the image is a race car; Professor Gopnik corrects Augie

confirms that Band Aids will be in the box. After opening the box, Professor Gopnik asks again what

Augie by saying it is money, to which Augie says, to pay for the BART tickets. Professor Gopnik tells
Augie she has another game to play with him; she sits opposite from Augie with a large book and puts
the quarters behind the book, obscured from Augie. She asks Augie if he can see the quarters to which
he responds that he cannot. She asks Augie if she can see the quarter to which Augie responds that she

Destination Imagination Narrative
Destination Imagination Snap! The PVC pipes holding together the backdrop fell and everything was
falling apart. People were gasping and the judges knew that it was not supposed to go like this. My
mom said that I could choose the Destination Imagination team this year, I was thrilled to hear that, so
I chose several of my great friends. I was really excited to find out which challenge our team would be
doing this year. We finally decided that we wanted to do the Fine Art Challenge. In this challenge we
had to make someone have a phobia. We researched what a phobia is and the different types of
phobias. Our favorite one that we found was candiphobia, it means the fear of candy. We had great
ideas for this challenge so we just let loose and brainstormed until we knew just what to do. My friend
and I were gymnasts, so we knew that we could choreograph a short routine. Her dad was a builder
and we knew we had to incorporate some illusion, so he taught us about the different things, overall
we decided to make an infinity mirror. Every week we prepared for the tournament. We made
backdrops, props, costumes, and scripts. We worked so hard to put everything together just for the
tournament. When the day came, we all took some of the props in our ... Show more content on

a place to sit and put our props. We were all super nervous about how this would go, so we practiced

scared about the performance. What if something happened like the infinity mirror does not work, or
someone forgets their line? I could only control what I did, the props and teammates, who knows.
Finally it was time for us to get ready, the introducer asked us a bunch of questions which she then

Human s Personality And Preferences May Change Over Time
Despite the fact that human s personality and preferences may change over time, philosophers have
always sought the answers to how people have the impression that they are the same person. At first,
philosophers presumed that people need to have the same body to be the same person. However,
Locke proposed that consciousness, which is in this case memory is the key to determine identity. In
this paper, I would discuss how memory as the mental states grounds the notion of psychological
continuity. Raising the problem of circularity in the memory theory, I will explain how to amend the
psychological continuity to avoid the problem.
At first, philosophers used the same body theory to explain personal identity. They assume that a
person at one time is the very same person as a person later if and only if they have the same body.
However, one problem of the same body theory is that biologically the body is constantly changing. A
body ten years later would not be the very same body at present. The problem makes the same body
theory a false condition. Therefore, it is imprudent to set the same body theory as the criteria to
determine personal identity. What thing that will remain the same even with different bodies, that can
help determine a person to be the same person earlier? The answer is memory. Even though the body
is changing over time biologically, memories usually do not fade away with it. As a matter of fact,
philosophers proposed a new theory called the Psychological

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of The Song Dynasty
As just stated so did the Northern Song clan members set up a capital in Hangzhou. Instead of
Northern Song so would they now be called Southern Song. Hangzhou back then was a wealthy
trading city and the Song rulers retained their domain south of the Huai River along with most of the
population at that time. They also managed to retain big southern merchant cities and therefore a new
period of prosperity began. A priority in Southern Song was foreign trade, and the government
constructed merchant ships and improved harbor facilities. Xiamen, Quanzhou and Guangzhou were
big seaports. The Southern Song merchant ships sailed as far as India and Arabia. The trade allowed
the Southern Song empire to continue to be prosperous although they had lost a lot of their land. The
government ended up building a navy to protect the merchant shipping. Passle wheel ships were built
that were faster than regular boats ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The thing which made the cultural propagation fluid from dynasty to dynasty was that the Chinese
mpires had a common written language for 2000 years. no matter what they spoke so would they be
able to read texts. Therefore by requiring candidates for official positions to pass exams by testing
their knowledge of the Neo Confucian texts, the court would be ensured that their officials were
exceptionally intelligent and could communicate in this very difficult literary language. The
government system had of course its advantages and disadvantages. The bureaucrats for an example
studied the same works on social behavior and philosophy. That promoted unity and the normalization
of behavior through the empire and during the times of dynastic change. The scholar bureaucrats had a
common base of understanding after all and they passed on these political and philological ideals to
the people underneath them so that the whole empire could have a common philosophy of

Powerful Female Characters in Theater Essay
Powerful Female Characters in Theater A craving for life and the pursuit of happiness are concepts
everyone cherishes in one way or another. Everyone s goals and ambitions for the future vary from
one to the next, yet each person shares a common bond, each hope for their own personal happiness.
The search of the truth and the power it produces cause internal conflict during one s pursuit of this so
called happiness. The search for this is not made without obstacles along the way. One must overcome
the tribulations handed to him or her by his or her society. Often women have a more difficult time
breaking through the chains that society has cast upon them. In three specific instances, Hedda Gabler

In Henrik Isben s Hedda Gabler, he masterfully portrays the main character,
Hedda, as neither a monster nor a saint . . . [she] is simply a tragic character who is destroyed by the
unharmonious and irreconciliable contrasts in her own character. Ibsen first expressed Hedda s
emotional sterility by showing how she is unable to reciprocate in a relationship. Hedda s lack of
freedom to act independently in the society that caused her to believe that she would find an answer in
manipulation causes her to come face to face with reality. She is forced to realize that her efforts are
futile and her manipulation is only hurting herself. Like a young child, she can only receive without
knowing how to give in return. This highly intense interest with the lives of others is another aspect of
her emotionally empty life. While at the same time of investigating and analyzing other people s lives
is one way for Hedda to gain some understanding of her own unsatisfied self, she ultimately reveals
that she herself is very frail, fragile, and self centered. It is this indeed that puts Hedda on her path to a
tragic destruction, a path that is being taken rather quickly. Another way in which Isben displays her
thirst for more in her life is when Hedda burns the manuscript. Hedda feels that somehow destroying
something that she should have been able to create in the first place will make her feel

Downfall of Education System was No School Prayer
Since prayer was removed from public school classrooms in 1962, we have had a 6 fold increase in
violent crime, our divorce rate has tripled, births to single mothers have increased 5 fold, the teenage
suicide rate has tripled, and SAT scores have dropped 10%.(Creation Today). Reasons that represent
why prayer and moments of silence should be allowed in the public school system will be expressed.
This essay will represent the affirmative stance when regarding this topic of school wide prayer and
moments of silence. It is not coincidental that there has been an increase in births to single mothers,
divorce rates tripling, and teenage suicide increasing. Allowing prayer in schools has set valuable
standards and morals for graduates and current pupils. Currently ninety percent of the countries kids
are enrolled in the public school system being influenced every single day they are present. Proven by
previously mentioned statistics, the majority of morals clearly dropped after the removal of prayer in
public schools in 1962. Without prayer, people have become more and more obliterate to God based
values, this causes people to neglect crucial things such as the sacredness of marriage. After 1963
divorces increased by 300% each following year (Prayer in America) Many argue and take to the
opposition that marriage is just a piece of paper, when in all generality, it is a gift from God. Single
mothers, sexually transmitted diseases, divorces, violent crimes, and teen suicide

Brofenbrenner s Theory Of Microsystem Analysis
The two significant life events I chose to examine further are, when I met my fiancé and when I
received my GED. I chose these two events because they were the most life changing, I am a better
person for them. When I met my fiancé, I was at a horrible point in my life. When he entered my life,
he helped me get back on my feet. He was there for me when I could not depend on anyone else and I
am forever grateful to have met him. I also chose receiving my GED as another pivotal life event.
Obtaining my GED has opened the door for me to further my education and it is something I would
not have pursued if not for my fiancé s support. Passing the test was one of my biggest achievements,
and I am very proud of my score. If not for these two major life changing events, I definitely would
not be enrolled at Ashford, on my way to a Bachelor s degree.
Urie Brofenbrenner proposed a theory of five overlapping ecological systems. They focus on broad,
interconnected influences on human development, such as the interactions between individuals and
their environment (Mossler, 2013) While examining Brofenbrenner s rings influence on me meeting
my fiancé, John, I discovered how much society comes into play. The microsystems influence stems
from the fact that we were introduced by mutual friends. The exosystem s influence lies in the fact we
grew up in the same neighborhood and come from the same economic standings. This aided in John
and I having similar life experiences which helped us to

having a great battle spirit matched with his devotion for Christ. For the crusade Tancred took up his

way to Byzantium, the safe passage of Tancred and Bohemond was possible with gifts and prayers to
God . When the king of Alexios of Constantinople heard that Bohemond was approaching his

First Peanuts Research Paper
The first Peanuts comic strip, created by Charles M Schulz, was introduced on October 2, 1950. The
comic was printed in seven newspapers that Sunday morning and featured characters such as Charlie
Brown, Shermy, and Patty. While Snoopy was introduced early, he did not make an appearance in the
first comic strip. Several characters such as Lucy, Linus, and Woodstock did not make appearances
until years later. The original name for the comic strip was not Peanuts as we know it as today, but
instead it was called Lil Folks. Even though the name Peanuts stuck, Charles M. Schulz never liked
the name himself. The comics were printed for 50 years in newspapers until Schulz s death in 2000
due to complications from colon cancer. Even today, his comic is still one of the most famous to have
ever been created. 1951 First Color TV

  • 2. Earth s Only Natural Satellite Andrew Logan Dr. Richards PHY 161 5/1/15 Observing Project Object 1: The Moon Next to the Sun, the moon is the most recognizable object in the night sky, and is Earth s only natural satellite. It has been estimated that the moon formed somewhere in the region of 4.45 billion years ago, just a measly 30 50 million years after the origination of the Solar System. While there are many hypotheses that try to account for the formation of the moon, the one that is backed the greatest is the theory that the moon was formed when a large mass roughly the size of Mars collided with the newly formed Earth, this sending out planetary material into the same orbit of the Earth. This material then underwent the process of accretion and formed what we now know as the moon. With modern laser altimetry, scientists have been able to accurately measure the topography of the moon. The most apparent topographic feature on the moon is located on the southern pole, is referred to as the Aitken basin, and stretches nearly 1400 miles in diameter. This is the largest crater on the moon and the largest known crater in the Solar System. Not only is this the widest crater on the moon, but its floor is also the lowest point on the surface of the moon. The dark spots that are visible with the naked eye are called maria, and they are actually hardened pools of ancient basaltic lava. Next to the maria, the most commonly seen features of the moon are the impact craters that pepper the entire surface. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Media is a mode of communication which acts to be a link between the people in today s society. There were many different issues presented between today and earlier days in the case of media portrayal of sex and violence. Today the media represents the stories of sex and violence in every single newspaper, video, radio and channels as opposed to the past, the media was considered to be reliable and a big supporter of the society. After looking through my options and speaking to my partner I eventually gave up and chose to research a topic I had much more interest in. I ended up choosing commercial aviation and more specifically the selection process in which materials are chosen for the wings used in the commercial aircraft. With the goal of becoming an aerospace engineer, I felt this topic was something I could get involved with on higher level and it would definitely help me put more effort into my research and in return I would achieve something out of it. Working with my partner Brian was also a pleasurable experience. Although ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Using various sources I was able to come up with many questions and answers about my topic. Before actually looking into the materials used in the wings, I translated the requirements similarly to Ashby s method. I wrote down an initial function for the wings and its constraints and objective. Using this outline I started my research. Of course, with any engineering design there were many steps before the actual design process. This is usually defining the actual function. In the case of the aircraft wings the actual function is to provide lift for the aircraft and contain an assortment of devices and other materials in the interior safely and efficiently. Because many lives will be at stake if the wings fail, safety is one of the ultimate concerns. During my research I looked up many of the potential conditions that aircraft wings go through. To function, the wings have to deal with a variety of forces and loads. But, the main goal is obviously not to have one successful flight and start over. The wings have to last many years, with proper maintenance. Therefore the main objective for many engineers is to come up with a design that can withstand an extensive amount of cycles, and also be cost effective. I looked up the average life of an aircraft and it varied by manufacturer. It averaged around to be a 100,000 cycles before a commercial jet was retired. To reach this ... There cannot be peace between nations until there is peace between the two halves of humanity, the mothers and fathers of all living and all yet to live. Steinem sees a connection between what we have chosen to normalize in male female relations, and what we see at the level of state and society. The family is the basic cell of the government, she explains, it is where we are trained to believe that we are human beings or that we are chattel, it is where we are trained to see the sex and race divisions and become callous to injustice even if it is done to ourselves, to accept as biological a full system of authoritarian government. Truly, it should not come as a surprise to us that societies which are rooted in male dominance over females are in no way peaceful or democratic; as noted by Steinem. We are never going to have democratic countries or peaceful countries until we have democratic or peaceful families because you must teach men to dominate in order to maintain a male dominated system and that is a very ugly education, indeed, where the first to be dominated are those within men s own families who are different from them Domestic violence is the seedbed of all other violence based on ... Themes from Babylonian myth can be seen in Egyptian stories; elements of Christian theology are evident in some ancient Chinese texts, and so on. How is this possible? How can cultures that have had little physical contact present us with such analogous narratives? These questions grow more perplexing when time is considered. Many of these tales are not only from separate corners of the earth, but also seem to have been written in vastly disparate time periods. This being said, it is still a fact that these cultures do rely on a number of shared stories. The hero exists universally; and often shares a number of elements across cultural boundaries. All ... He is warned of Enlil s plan by Ea, through a dream, and is instructed to build a great boat. Noah was the only man on earth still in Yahweh s favor. So he came to Noah and told him to also build a boat. The men are then instructed to take with them certain people, animals and possessions. Ea tells Utnapishtim to bring with him family and kin, gold, beasts, both wild and tame, and craftsmen. Noah is advised to take only his family and a pair of each of the earth s animals onto his boat. The items each man is directed to take says a great deal about the culture associated with each story. The Christian world is focused on piety and stresses the importance of denying oneself material wealth. Noah is not told to bring with him any worldly possessions unlike Utnapishtim who is told to take gold. Utnapishtim is also told to bring craftsmen, which emphasizes the important role they played in Babylonian culture. As the flood begins each man is warned that it will soon be time to board his boat. How Web Architecture And Components Assignment 1: Website Performance Contents Introduction Web Architecture and Components The role of Web Architecture in Website Communication Web Protocols Factors that influence Website Performance Introduction Web Architecture and Components 1) a. How the World Wide Web works.... The World Wide Web is an organisation in which web resources and other documents are identified by URLs as well as interlinked by hypertext documents and can be amassed over the internet. The World Wide Web works through the http protocol and the servers connected to the web attend requests through the internet. The URL consists of protocol in which the server retrieves the indicated document and creates a response which is sent back to the user. b. The purpose of ISPs.... An ISP (internet service provider) is an institution and its purpose is to provide assistance to individuals and groups that are accessing the internet. The more popular and bigger ISPs such as BT are less dependent on telecommunication providers as they have their own high speed connection and therefore are able to provide better assistance to their users. c. The web hosting services that ISPs provide for business.... A web hosting service allows individuals and companies to make their website available via the World Wide Web. d. What is involved in domain structure....A domain name is a particular name that is used to classify a website. A domain name locates an organisation on the internet. Such a quaint, simplistic phrase that yet effectively describes the disease commonly known today as yellow fever. Over the course of history, the yellow fever virus (YFV) has decimated populations in various regions all across the globe. While the overall gross impact of yellow fever has declined over the years, the virus still poses a significant threat present day, especially to those in the developing world. The World Health Organization currently estimates that approximately 200,000 cases of yellow fever occur around the world each year, resulting in 30,000 fatalities (Bundschuh et al, 2013). Presently, yellow fever remains without a legitimate cure, and the best defence against the virus lies with preventative action. WHO identifies its three major yellow fever prevention strategies as vaccination, mosquito control, and epidemic response (WHO Yellow Fever Fact Sheet, 2014). This being said, through the combined efforts of scientists, medical workers, governments, and international agencies alike, the yellow fever virus has been confined to endemic areas throughout Africa and Latin America (Barrett Higgs, 2007, p.209). With regards to the epidemiological nature of yellow fever, geographic factors and influences clearly play a significant role. Environments, both physical and human (ie. social), directly correlate to how the virus behaves, adapts, and survives. Through the analysis its biology, its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Within these different cultures, unique languages and ways of healing have risen. Due to overpopulation and the constant need for new technology, these cultures have come together to create a better way of life. The problem we face today is not finding the sources of medication, but the communication barrier between science and the community. (2010:1115) explains that CHWs were located in health clinics full time and were no longer flexible community based workers. Their responsibility to the community changed for the worse. Many CHWs started resenting unpaid requests from fellow villagers. The government now has this huge thing, they ve got this small business programme, the pay roll. And the village health workers, if the pay doesn t come out, they toy toy , they don t go to work (Ginneken et al. 2010:1115). Introducing this stipend caused CHWs to reject volunteer work. A CHW Framework has been established by South Africa to guide the development of a national CHW programme. This Framework has failed to recognize diversity, needs and flexibility, and this has cause to say the aim is invalid. The current potential professionalisation of CHWs makes the ideal bridging gap between the community and the health system more distant. Once the diversity, needs of people, and the flexibility within the CHW programme s are recognised, the gap between the community and the health system will be inexistent (Ginneken et al. 2010:1116). • 21. Analysis Of `` Daddy `` By Sylvia Plath Imagine growing up with a father so cruel, he haunts you far beyond his death. Well, in the poem Daddy , this nightmare is a reality. The speaker of the poem is nearly 30 years old before she can finally put her demons to rest. Her father has left her in ruins, unable to maintain a healthy mind or a stable life. Sylvia Plath paints this vivid picture of this nightmare using a number of allusions. While Plath begins the poem with childish, innocent allusions, she soon switches to horrid references of the Holocaust and demons to depict the evil of the speaker s father. After switching from her allusion to a fairytale, the speaker begins her allusion to the Holocaust, calling herself a Jew. Following her introduction to this allusion, she references the snows of the Tyrol and the clear beer of Vienna and says they Are not very pure or true. The speaker uses satire in this line to parallel her father s expectations to a Nazi s. Vienna and Tyrol border Germany and the speaker satirically says that the clear beer of Vienna and the snows of Tyrol are not very pure. The Nazis viewed the people of these places as lesser because they did not fit the Nazis ideals. The speaker uses this comparison to reveal that her father treated her as a Nazi treats a Jew. In the upcoming stanzas, she again uses the allusion to Nazi Germany. She says, Not God but a swastika. • 24. Human s Personality And Preferences May Change Over Time Despite the fact that human s personality and preferences may change over time, philosophers have always sought the answers to how people have the impression that they are the same person. At first, philosophers presumed that people need to have the same body to be the same person. However, Locke proposed that consciousness, which is in this case memory is the key to determine identity. In this paper, I would discuss how memory as the mental states grounds the notion of psychological continuity. Raising the problem of circularity in the memory theory, I will explain how to amend the psychological continuity to avoid the problem. At first, philosophers used the same body theory to explain personal identity. They assume that a person at one time is the very same person as a person later if and only if they have the same body. However, one problem of the same body theory is that biologically the body is constantly changing. A body ten years later would not be the very same body at present. The problem makes the same body theory a false condition. Therefore, it is imprudent to set the same body theory as the criteria to determine personal identity. What thing that will remain the same even with different bodies, that can help determine a person to be the same person earlier? The answer is memory. Even though the body is changing over time biologically, memories usually do not fade away with it. As a matter of fact, philosophers proposed a new theory called the Psychological ... In Henrik Isben s Hedda Gabler, he masterfully portrays the main character, Hedda, as neither a monster nor a saint . . . [she] is simply a tragic character who is destroyed by the unharmonious and irreconciliable contrasts in her own character. Ibsen first expressed Hedda s emotional sterility by showing how she is unable to reciprocate in a relationship. Hedda s lack of freedom to act independently in the society that caused her to believe that she would find an answer in manipulation causes her to come face to face with reality. She is forced to realize that her efforts are futile and her manipulation is only hurting herself. Like a young child, she can only receive without knowing how to give in return. This highly intense interest with the lives of others is another aspect of her emotionally empty life. While at the same time of investigating and analyzing other people s lives is one way for Hedda to gain some understanding of her own unsatisfied self, she ultimately reveals that she herself is very frail, fragile, and self centered. It is this indeed that puts Hedda on her path to a tragic destruction, a path that is being taken rather quickly. Another way in which Isben displays her thirst for more in her life is when Hedda burns the manuscript.
