9 Ways To Increase Profits For Your Creative Business Case...
9 Ways to Increase Profits for Your Creative Business
The difficult thing to cope with for creatives in business is maximizing profits. When you strike out on
your own there s a lot of excitement about the freedom you will have to create and operate on your
own terms. Unfortunately, this can go downhill quick when you don t have the business nous to back
up your creative instincts.
So, how can you increase profits for your creative business and ensure your continued success? We ve
put together nine ways to get you through the more challenging times (and even maximise your profits
when things are going well).
1. Your Time Counts
So, do bill your hours. There s this thought process in the creative world that you bill for the work that

Think about how you can turn this into an investment. Find a neighbourhood that will increase in
value and add value to the property.
You ll also have assets (furniture, artwork, vehicles, computers, etc.) that count to your balance sheet
these can be sold to generate revenue if necessary.
5. Leasing
If you re just starting out and you don t have the money to purchase a workspace, then leasing may be
your best option. Alternatively, if you have already purchased a workspace there may be room for you
to lease to another creative type and earn extra income to help pay the mortgage as well as other
overheads.
6. Producing Your Own Products Services
You re a creative so you are constantly coming up with new and wonderful ideas, whether they apply
to specific projects or are inspired elsewhere. Your offering be a physical product, an idea, a service
that you offer, or even regular events on your expert subjects. Anything can be monetised when there s
a market for it.
7. Side Hustle
You can operate a side business with no relevance to your main business to provide yourself with a
much needed boost in profits. It will require more time and effort, and employees... but if you get in
on the act with someone else as opposed to being the main operator you have a new source of revenue.
8. Equity
As a new business, you may find other new businesses tend to offer things other than payment in

SWOT Analysis of the Balanced Scorecard in the UK Banking...
In the last two decades of the 20th century, the UK banking industry experienced huge change because
of three factors: deregulation, new technology and increasing competition (Gardener et al, 1999, cited
in Hailey et al, 2005). Some banks such as NatWest, Halifax and Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), have
successfully survived from the impact of the new century. Just as the head of employee at RBS
indicates, the most significant part of their success is the use of the Balanced Scorecard in the
performance of employees.
The Balanced Scorecard (BSC) is a strategic planning and management system that is used widely in
different organizations all over the world. The concept was originated by Robert Kaplan and David
Norton in the early 1990s. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
NatWest is the largest commercial bank in the UK. It is a member of The Royal Bank of Scotland
Group now. NatWest is a bank with a long history which dates back to 1650. It has survived from the
huge change in UK banking industry for the use of the Balanced Scorecard. Now it has a large extent
of services, which consist of more than 1,500 branches in the UK. Today, NatWest has more than 7
million private customers.
Figure 1: The performance management cycle at NatWest (Armstrong, 2003)
NatWest modified the framework of BSC by measuring performance through four dimensions:
financial results, customer service, and internal processes and people management. In a way, the
Balance Scorecard method has been extended to the measurement of individual performance, thus, it
has integrated with organizational measures (Armstrong, 2003). Figure 1 show the performance
management cycle at NatWest. In the next, I will use the SWOT method to analysis how BSC
influence the UK bank sector.
SWOT analysis of the BSC in the UK banking sector
SWOT analysis is a strategic planning method used to evaluate the strengths, weaknesses,
opportunities, and threats involved in a project. It can show a comprehensive assessment about a
subject.
Strengths: Having been used for more than ten years, BSC is undoubtedly a good method of
measuring. Firstly, four measures are enough to give an overall impression of the performance. They

Antisemitism in the Middle Ages
In the year of 1492, most people instantly think of the Columbus discovery of the New World. But in
the joy of the discovery of the New World also comes the tragedy of the Old World. The Spanish
Inquisition was one of the darkest periods of time in Jewish history. Christianity s view of other
religions as inferior is portrayed in many well known pieces of literature, including one of William
Shakespeare s most famous plays, The Merchant of Venice. Towering over Shakespeare s romantic
comedy The Merchant of Venice is the tragic figure of Shylock, a man who represents the treatment of
the Jewish people in his time period. Before beginning to understand Shylock, it is vital to understand

A decision was eventually made and the Venetian Republic decided to allow them to remain and
ordered the segregation of the Jews of the city in a special quarter, formerly known as Ghetto Nuova, a
small, dirty island which became the world s first ghetto. A little later, the Ghetto Vecchio, was added
to the district. Hence the term Ghetto spread throughout Italy, where the Jewish quarters, compulsorily
established in subsequent years, became known officially by this name, (Roth. 273.)
Jews of Italian and German origin both moved into this ghetto. The Germans came to Venice to seek
refuge from of persecution in their former communities, while the Italians came from Rome and from
the South, where they faced anti Semitism.
Jews from the Levant, who practiced Sephardic traditions, moved into Ghetto Vecchio in 1541. The
Spanish and Portuguese Jews also came to Venice in the late 16th century and were the strongest and
wealthiest community in the ghetto. Many of the Spanish and Portuguese Jews were Marranos and
became Jewish again once moving to Venice. The Spanish/Portuguese and Levantines lived in the
Ghetto Vecchio.
The German, Italian and Levantine communities were independent, yet lived side by side to one
another. A hierarchy existed among them, in which the Sephardic/Levantine Jews were at the top of
the scale, Germans in the middle and Italians at the lowest rung on the hierarchal ladder.

Functional Classification of Joints
A joint is the site where two skeletal elements connect(1). Joints can be classified by both structure
and function. Structural classifications are based on the type of connective tissue binding the
structures together and whether a joint capsule is present(2, 3). There are three structural
classifications of joints; fibrous, cartilaginous and synovial. Functional classifications are based on the
amount of movement present(2). There are three functional classifications of joints; synarthroses
which are immobile, amphiarthroses which are slightly mobile, and diarthroses which are freely
mobile(3).
Fibrous joints are classified as having articulating bones joined by dense regular connective tissue
(mainly consisting of collagen) and no joint cavity(3). Majority of fibrous joints are synarthroses or
amphiarthroses. The three types of fibrous joints are sutures, gomphoses, and syndesmoses. Sutures
are synarthroses joints present on the skull(2). The sutural ligament which is composed of connective
tissue fibers and is continuous with the periosteum joins the two skull bones(1,2). Sutures give
strength and allow growth of the skull during childhood(3). Once growth has occurred the dense
regular connective tissue becomes ossified and the bones fuse together(3). Gomphoses are
synarthrosis joints that only occur between teeth and sockets of the mandible and maxillae(3).
Collagen fibers in the periodontal ligament link the root of the tooth and the bony socket(1).

TATA NANO SINGUR CASE

Tata Motors announced in 2006, that the Nano would be manufactured in Singur, West Bengal, helped
in part by a forced acquisition and reuse of farmland by the West Bengal state government to entice

How Did Buddy Holly Influence Popular Music
Even Though Bob Dylan and Buddy Holly are both singer/song writers, their journeys have taken
them down completely different paths. One has had a long career in the industry and the other has
unfortunately has had a short career. Both have had wonderful and successful lives and are still well
known for what they accomplished with their music. Buddy Holly played rock n roll for a few short
year but the music he recorded in that time has made a major and forever lasting impact on popular
music. Not only did he write his own music, but he was also the first to exploit advanced studio
techniques such as double tracking, (rockhall.com). Bob Dylan on the other hand is a recognized poet
laureate of the rock n roll era and the pre eminent singer/songwriter of modern times. No matter if he
is singing topical folk songs, exploring rootsy rock and blues, or delivering one of his abstract,
allegorical compositions, he is always demonstrating a rare ability to reach listeners with his lyrics,
(rockhall.com).
Buddy Holly was born on September 7th, 1936 in Lubbock, Texas. His birth name was Charles Hardin
Holley, he is the youngest out of four children. He got the name Buddy from his mother, who felt his
birth name was too big for a young boy. Holly learned to play the piano and the fiddle when he was
pretty young, and his brothers taught him how to play the guitar. After Buddy graduated High School,
he formed a band that played country and western songs on the radio. He occasionally

Patent Laws
The U.S. has one of the best patent law systems in the world, but there are still those who take
advantage and control it. Patent laws are made to protect innovators with there products from others
attempting to steal their unique ideas. However, some people try to abuse these laws by creating
companies that buy multiple patents and these companies are called patent trolls. Non Practicing
Entities (NPEs), widely known as Patent Trolls, never make the products that they buy patents for and
instead wait till someone else uses the same concept no matter how small and then they swoop in and
sue the real innovators. Patent trolls create distrust in the innovation atmosphere and put fear into

As a nation and as one people we need to come together and push our government to stop being
influenced by patent trolls. We need the government to go back to being for the people as it was made

just for them, which will only put us down as a nation. NPEs only care for their own benefit and it
hurts the rest of the world. Some say that it is their right to do so and they are using their freedom, but
they fail to realize that there freedom is being lost to these large patent troll corporations. Patent trolls
are only causing constant problems in the economy and are driving away innovation, which we as a
country and world need to bring back together as one. No matter what people say they need to realize
that at the end of the day NPEs, patent trolls, have all these negative affects just for their own selfish
personal benefits. Patent trolls have a tight grip on every aspect of the innovation world and it needs to

Depression In William Wordsworth
I have been seeing three new patients recently, all Romantic poets who appear to be suffering from
various levels of melancholy. Although each one of these poets is highly successful and influential in
the Romantic Movement, each has experienced bouts of dejection, loneliness, and disillusionment
with reality. However, this melancholy seems different from cases I have encountered in the past.
Strangely, none of these clients show symptoms of the excessive black bile that typically associated
with melancholy such as apathy, lack of motivation, and hopelessness (Brady, Haapala). In fact, while
all of these clients experience melancholic thoughts, these emotions appear to be more complex than
depression as they allow the pleasures of deep reflection and often lead to feelings of sublime joy and
inspiration. Instead of suffering from a clinical form of melancholy or depression, these clients appear
to be experiencing a complex emotion of joypain which they believe has the capacity to reveal the
infinite powers of the self or the imagination (Murray, 722). Yet, while all of these poets seem to
believe in the importance of melancholy as inspiration for their work, each of these poets also seems
to express this emotion in different ways. While one of these poets, Mr. William Wordsworth, often
turns his negative ruminations into positive reflections on nature and memory, Mr. Coleridge instead
experiences deeper melancholic moments that he cannot dispel quite so easily. Mr. John

Gender And Justice Throughout The Trilogy Of Orestia
Marianna Baggett

Gender and Justice Throughout Orestia The trilogy of Orestia illustrates the many tragedies that fall
upon the House of Atreus and how different characters reactions cause further tragedies and further
complications in the story. Gender is a prominent theme throughout the trilogy, as certain characters
are portrayed as gender characteristics outside of their gender stereotype, and the different genders
plea for different verdicts in the trial at the end. The idea of justice through the first two books of the
trilogy is the eye for an eye model of justice. The Greeks truly thought that justice was attained by

The fact that she is the one giving him orders is the first male characteristic that she is given.
Normally, men would be the ones to give orders and to take charge, but here Clytemnestra is in
charge. Then he continues to describe how her heart is like that of a man s. Here he is implying that
she lacks the compassion of a woman. This line foreshadows her husband s murder. Clytemnestra
thinks highly of herself and even demonstrates some feminist qualities. She states, Don t insult my
intelligence. You treat me like a child (Agamemnon 276). First, she is clearly stating that she is
intelligent, and that she knows she is intelligent. Second, she is negatively referencing children. As a
woman, she is speaking negatively about her treatment, but one would think her maternal qualities
would kick in and she would refrain from speaking of children negatively. Her self confidence
possibly comes from the fact that her husband is away at war for many years and she is left in charge
of the household, but regardless, her actions are seen as brazen by many. Women are looked upon
negatively by society, even in this ancient Greek society. The chorus states Trust a woman to praise a
sign/ before the truth is clear (Agamemnon 483 484). The chorus is basically stating that women are
quick to believe the first thing they hear and quick to spread foolish gossip. Even before she murders
her husband, the chorus is already speaking against her. In this first book, females are portrayed as

My Experience At Connecticut College
When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a certain point on the floor, it s to enjoy each step along
the way. (Wayne Dwyer) There is no description or analogy more accurate to describe my experience
both watching and performing dance this past semester at Connecticut College. As a freshman, it was
difficult to move forward with dance in a new environment since I have had the same dance
experience for 15 years. I found myself equating movements and steps to styles more known to me; I
was searching for comfort among the abundance of unfamiliarity. The challenge was to embrace
modern dancing for everything it entailed. Through watching both professional dancers and other
students, as well as improving my personal technique, I certainly feel that I have found a new
appreciation for dance. Of all the dance performances this semester, my favorite was the Department
Concert. Even though all of the artists were extraordinary to watch, I was able to connect with the
dancers most during the Department Concert. Watching Connecticut College students perform gave
me a different feeling than the other shows. I could relate to the performers better because I have had
conversations with them outside of dance and they have been there as mentors to me and the other
freshmen. This feeling of inclusion was only possible because of the atmosphere of the department;
everyone, regardless of class year, is genuinely welcomed. I also believe that seeing students perform

How Does Hector Criticize The Greek Honor System
Homer s Critique on the Greek Honor System in The Iliad The Iliad, a great epic poem written by
Homer, illustrates the honor system valued deeply by the Greeks and Trojans. Though Homer uses
Hector as a voice piece for the honor system, he presents Hector and other characters as heroes that
conflict with the code itself. Through Hector s conversation with Paris, we identify the three main
components that codes the honor system. In other great epic poems, great heroes appear to possess and
suffice the components. Yet, Homer chooses to do the exact opposite. In The Iliad, the heroes , such
as, Paris, Diomedes, and Hector himself, conflict with the codes. Homer criticizes the Greek honor
system by contradicting the system through these conflicted heroes.
Through Hector, Homer points out the transfer of glory between enemies through battle as one of the
main components in the honor system. Hector expresses this particular concept through his
conversation with Paris. In book 3, when Paris avoids Menelaus, Hector forces him back into battle by
saying, Can t you just hear it, the long haired Greeks chuckling and saying that our champion wins for
good looks but comes up ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

that Paris fight Menelaus head on by shaming him: No, don t stand up to Menelaus: you might find
out what kind of a man it is whose wife you re sleeping with (3. 57). From Hector s use of verbal
irony, we can see he expects and believes that only through fighting a final heroic battle head on will
bring honor; thus, it must be obeyed. The main components of the Honor system that Hector values
greatly are the titles, war prizes, and heroic battles. Homer explicitly maneuvers Hector as a voice
piece to suggest the concept of the honor system that can be seen applied to the battles between the

The fieldwork and research questions are an opportunity for candidates to showcase appropriate
fieldwork and research that they have carried out or discussed. It is pleasing to see the range of
techniques attempted and the sources consulted in this work. Many candidates have an absolute
armoury of fieldwork options and research resources at their disposal. As in previous series, the very
best responses were able to describe accurately the group or individual fieldwork they had done linked
to real locations. Weaker candidates became lost in case study information not focusing on the sources
from which this data had come. Lists of fieldwork techniques can only gain a limited amount of marks
and it is the use of these techniques in an investigation that the questions often require. Unfortunately
some candidates again seemed to be caught out by questions which asked them about post fieldwork,
ie results and conclusions. Remember that questions may not always focus solely on the planning and
execution of fieldwork and research, but could also be focused on: (i) a description of the methods
used to present and analyse the data;
(ii) a description of the results and conclusions; and,
(iii) how the methods of fieldwork and research were evaluated.

which have been provided. Rehearsing how to respond to

Impact Of The Crisis On The Banking Industry
In 2008 the world economy faced the worst global financial crisis since the great depression of 1930 s.
The impact of the crisis on the banking industry was critical during this period. From 2007, bank runs
began on several British and American major banking firms, but instead of the classic bank run it was
as described by Gorton, G. and Metrick, A. (2009) a run on the shadow banking system . This period
was characterised with failure of major banks across Europe and the US. This financial crisis resulted
in few takeovers in backing sector and forced governments to rescue the global financial market. In

In 2008, losses of these securities were estimated to exceed $500 billion.
A global saving glut is considered as a factor that contributed to the global financial crisis. In early
1990 s, developing countries such as China used to borrow capital from developed countries. But
developed countries suffered currency crisis due to low level of foreign exchange holding and it
caused developing countries capital outflow and recession. After the currency crisis, developed
countries started managing international capital flows. These countries increased the saving but
reduced the investment therefore it caused the current account surplus. Countries such as South Korea
and Thailand started holding high volume of foreign currency and it led to global saving glut. It
allowed the US to overinvest and in 2002 the US recorded current account deficit of over $450 billion.
A factor contributed to the low interest rate was an influx of Chinese capital into the US. Bernanke
(2005) suggested the global saving glut helped increase in the US currency account deficit and the
relatively low level of long term real interest rates in the world. As a result, global saving glut caused
the credit availability and the US housing boom.
Sub prime loan is a major factor that led to the global financial crisis. During the housing boom,

The U.S. Prison System and Prison Overcrowding
As of 2015, 2.7% of adults in the United States were under correctional control, the lowest rate since
1994, however that is still roughly 6.7 million adults (Kaeble Glaze, 2016). While the correctional
population has declined, correctional facilities in the United States are still grossly overcrowded, with
many facilities at or surpassing capacity. A report in 2010 by the California Department of Corrections
and Rehabilitation showed that on average, facilities were at 175% capacity (Brown, 2010). However,
as of midnight on October 31st, 2017 the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation
reported that their facilities, on average, were 132% occupied (Brown, 2017). Not only is prison
overcrowding a burden on the facilities themselves, but also on the inmates. Prison overcrowding, that
is, housing more inmates than the facility can humanely facilitate (Haney, 2006), places a strain on all
resources throughout the correctional facility, including on the healthcare that s offered, educational
programs, and most dramatically on the physical space available to house inmates (Ekland Olson,
1983).
The first court case to bring up the treatment of inmates as a violation of their 8th amendment rights
was Holt v. Sarver in 1970, and the decision changed how prisons are run to this day (Ekland Olson,
1983). In Holt v.

Case Study Of Possum Products
With the growth in demand for exotic foods, Possum Products s CEO Michael Munger is considering
expanding the geographic footprint of its line of dried and smoked low fat opossum, ostrich, and
venison jerky snack packs. However, Kevin Uram, the CFO, is concerned about thow an internal
expansion and the additional risk that entails will affect the firm s financial management process. In
this case study, the concepts discussed include reasons for global expansions, the major factors that
differentiates the financial management practices of multinational corporations from purely domestic
firms, exchange rates and convertibility of currencies, international monetary systems, and
international capital markets. Also, the differences in the average capital structure across different
countries, the problems faced by nultinational firms in capital budgeting, and the factors that need to
be considered in multinational working capital management are discussed.
Analysis
Historically, jerky products have performance well in the southern United States, but there are
indications of a growing demand for these unusual delicacies in Europe. Munger recognizes that the
expansion carries some risks such as possible low acceptance by the Europeans, so the expansion will

What is exchange rate risk? An exchange rate risk refers to exchange rate fluctuations which can affect

of European products to the United States (Brigham Ehrhardt, 2014). Also, the volatility of exchange
rates incrases the uncertainty of the cash flows for a MNC. Because the cash flows are denominated in
many different currencies, the dollar equivalent value of the company s consoilidated cash flows also

Those being oppressed by their government must find a way to keep a sense of themselves and their
beliefs despite others attempts to change them. In the Hairdresser of Harare by Tendai Huchu,
Dumisani is a gay man in a country that heavily discriminates against homosexuality. Dumi is under
constant threat of having his sexuality discovered and being punished by torture or imprisonment.
Despite this fear, he is able to overcome the disdain his society holds in order to embrace who he truly
is, You see for a long time I used to think of my gayness as a cancer for which I needed treatment.
Then I met Colin and he told me how wrong I was. Now I realize it is simply something I was born
with (438.) Dumi s ability to thrive in the face of adversity allows him to be himself and overcome the
limits imposed on him by the Zimbabwean government. He embraces his identity and form
friendships and romantic relationships with people who understand him. He stays in the country that is
attempting to reject him in order to be with his lover, family, and friends. He understands the threat he
faces, but it does not prevent him being with the man he loves or coming out to his family. In this way,
the LGBT community and other people whose lifestyles or beliefs conflict with their society s ideals
persist through the judgment of others simply by being themselves unashamedly. When in a position
where one s beliefs contradict those of their society a person s negative capability allows them

The Health Benefits of Exercise Essay
Exercise is one of the most important factors in a persons life. Physical activity, or the lack of it, can
result in a person having a healthy life or cause them to have diabetes. The benefits of exercise are
countless. The positive health results, the improvement in attitude, even better academic performance
are all factors which make not exercising inexcusable. Merely not using a person s body is harmful.
Not being active results in a person s muscles becoming weak and out of condition. The effectiveness
of a person s heart and lungs will decrease. A person s joints will become stiff and can be injured
easily. Inactivity can be as much of a health risk as smoking. In addition children have become
extremely lazy with all the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Adults should have around thirty to sixty minutes of physical activity four to six times a week. Two
hours and thirty minutes is the minimum a fully developed person needs to lessen the risk of having
some type of chronic disease later in life ( Information ). Physical fitness has two main classifications
performance related and health related. People have different performance related requirements in
accordance with their occupation but all people have the same health related requirements (The
World). Then there are two types of exercise that helps tone a person s body while increasing its
endurance. These are aerobic and anaerobic. Aerobic exercise is exercise that uses the muscles and
bones. Cardio activities are a good example of this, such as running or biking. This type of exercise
increases the strength of a person s heart and boosts their lung capacity. Anaerobic exercise is an
intense but short amount of exercise (Payment). Since it is only for a brief amount of time, it does not
require the amount of oxygen aerobic exercise does. Instead it uses glycogen which comes from the
sugar in a person s blood. An example of this exercise is weight lifting or sprinting. A person s
requires both anaerobic and aerobic exercise for good health. Simply doing a cardio work out is not
healthy, and for a person to see real results there must be some activity like weight lifting ( Anaerobic
). By performing some type of physical activity each

Summary Of John Searle s Chinese Room Argument
In the Chinese room argument presented by John Searle, he argues that programs are not minds.
Premises that Searle gives for this claim is that programs are entirely formal (syntactical) and mind
have semantic. Syntax by itself is neither constitutive of nor sufficient for semantics. In this paper, I
will argue that Searle s argument is misleading us, because Searle s claim is based on that
understanding (mind) occurs if and only if computer knows human language semantic. Searle s
Chinese room argument is suppose that he is locked in a room with two windows (one has I on the
outside and another has O on the outside which means that Input and output). He does not understand

Stop And Frisk Research Paper
Stop and frisk has two components that define the stop element as well as the frisk element. The stop
element is defined as when a law enforcement officer briefly detains an individual, and the officer has
reasonable suspicion to believe a crime has occurred, is occurring, or is about to occur, and ask
questions of the individual regarding a preliminary investigation and excludes the requirement of
probable cause (Bethel, 2015). Furthermore, the frisk element may be conducted if the officer has
reasonable suspicion the individual has a weapon, and is performed as a limited pat down search of
the outer clothing on the individual detained by the officer (Bethel, 2015). If a weapon is discovered,
the officer is authorized to conduct a more in depth investigation. ... Show more content on

The same applications are among law enforcement agencies across the nation, however, every law
enforcement agency shares the same mission to protect and to serve it s jurisdiction. In my humble
opinion, the scope for stop and frisk is an essential part of law enforcement s goal of keeping their
communities safe and protecting the citizens and it s properties. Where there s smoke, there s more
than likely going to be a fire that started the smoke or a source of heat that initiated the smoke. The
bureaucratic red tape has smothered a substantial amount of police tactics in the last several years and
common sense allows us to notice a serious decrease in respect towards law enforcement as well as
limited actions law enforcement can apply to situations because they appear too militarized or
overkill. For example, it was due to stop and frisk that allowed an officer to stop and frisk a suspect
named Wayne Williams in Atlanta, Georgia, after the officer heard a splash in a river nearby and
observed Williams driving off a bridge that went over the waterway. The officer was able to initiate a
stop and frisk, that led to the discovery of a murdered victim and identified the suspect because of this
tactic (Marcou, 2010). This is only one of many incidents of how this tactic is critical for law
enforcement to apply towards their overall goal of keeping citizen s and their communities

Persuasive Essay On Organic Food
A cultural shift to organic is critical for future human and environmental benefits for three reasons.
First, a person s health depends on good food being put in the body. Organic foods do not contain any
artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, or pesticides making them better for one s health. The
Environmental Protection Agency estimates that 60% of all herbicides, 90% of all fungicides and 30%
of all pesticides all chemicals in conventionally grown agriculture cause cancer (CCOF). The bottom
line is that these chemicals are poisons designed to kill living organisms and can all harm humans.
Another reason would be that organic foods use natural fertilizers such as compost or manure, crop
rotation, and careful breeding, many people say organics have a better, fresher taste than non organic
foods. Some studies show that organically grown food has higher amounts of vitamin C, magnesium,
phosphorous, and iron (Crinnion) Chefs boast about using organic foods from local vendors all the
time. Then another reason would be that organic farming is a definite win/win for the environment.
Organic farming management relies on developing biological diversity in the field to disrupt the
habitat for pest organisms for maintaining soil fertility. Since bagged fertilizer is not used, organic
farming reduces the amount of groundwater pollution and soil erosion while increasing the
biodiversity of animal, plant, and microbial life in a given biome. In the past, people who made food

There were long working hours with small pay and extremely dangerous working conditions. Stephen
Crane writes in In the Depths of a Coal Mine in August 1894 that It has only to tighten slightly, and he

of the earth should stop for a brief period, there is certain death....Meanwhile the miner gets three
dollars per day, and his laborer one dollar and a quarter. Here Crane is only describing the working life
of a coal miner. He discusses how dangerous the job is and how low the pay is. There were no safety
precautions and no safety gear or protection at all. If one small thing went wrong, you had a likely
chance of dying. Many important inventions were being invented at this time which had a profound
impact of the modern life. Thomas Edison invented over 1,000 inventions throughout his life. One of
the most important and well known inventions that changed the American way of life was the

Reflection About Nigga
People, please do not be confused with the N word (Nigga). See in the hood we spell it with a at the
end of the term instead of er, therefore, nigga is a term of endearment, that we use in the hood, not to
be confused with the derogatory term which is nigger. I am doing this not so much for you professor,
cuz I sure you know the difference right? However, I am doing this to be politically correct in case
anyone else reads this and takes offense to me using the term nigga in this reflection piece. I just
wanted to make that clarification :)
Anyhow, before I move on to the next pivotal point of my life, there is some other shit that I forgot to
mention, fuck man is already twelve fucking pages...lol! Anyway, I am fourteen years old, and by this
time I was already hanging out big time in the streets and shit. I had full time Job, working at this
factory with my favorite Aunt, as I mentioned to you guys earlier; she was the last Aunt who stayed
behind in the Bronx. I won t mention the name of the factory for private reasons.
I was making three dollars and thirty five cents an hour. That s right folks you heard correctly, 3.35 a
fucking hour. I did not give a fuck, cuz I was a poor motherfucker living in the hood broke as hell (no
money) and I didn t want to start clocking (selling) crack (cocaine mixed with baking soda) on the

Weight Distribution Of Paper Air Lab Report
Effect of the weight distribution on the flight distance of a Paper Airplane
By: Melinda Martin
UBT1: Western Governors University
Introduction
This report shows the effects of weight distribution has on the flight distance of a paper airplane. Just
like with real airplanes, paper airplanes rely on aerodynamics to get the airplane to fly, although, they
may not look or fly the same they use the same. Changing the postion of where the weight is
distrubuted on a paper airplane can affect the planes ability to fly as far.
Literature Review
According to the article Four Forces on an Airplane, weight is always directed to the cented of the
earth. (National Aeronaustics and Space Administration, n.d.). There are other forces ... Show more

The dependent variable was the distance each plane flew, this was measured in inches using a 16 foot
tape measurer. There were three controlled variables, the first was the size and weight of the paper
airplanes with the paper clip attached, I used the same size paper, paper airplane design, and the 28mm
paper clip for each plane. The second starting position where I stood, I marked a designated position
to stand at and threw the planes with my right foot at the starting line each throw. The final controlled
variable was how the planes were held and thrown, I held each plane at the center of the plane and
threw with my right arm.
Hypothesis:
Based on a previous paper airplane experiment coducted on balancing lift and weight, you can change
the center of gravity by placing weight on different parts of the plane. The further towards the nose of
the plane the more likely it ll nose dive. Moving the weight towards the tail will cause the nose to go
up. (Science Buddies, 2013). Given this infomtion, I hypothesize that placing weight on the center of
the paper airplane will give it the center of gravity it needs to fly the furthest distance.
Materials and Methods:
To conduct this experiment, I used the following materials: Figure 1. The equipment used to conduct
the experiment.
3 pieces of 9 x 12 construction paper
3 28 mm paper clips weighing approx .5grams
1 16 ft tape measurer
1 pencil to documnt the distance

The Story Of Greek Myth
When the gods were pondering how to win the amrita, the elixir of immortally, Vishnu suggested that
they let the Devas and Asuras churn the ocean so that the elixir, along with all the herms and jewels,
would emerge. They unrooted Mount Mandara and set it on the back of a tortoise and used Vasuki, the
snake, as the rope. Taking each side of the rope, the Asuras and Devas began twirling Mount Madara.
The friction of the churning caused fire, which Indra put out using water from his clouds. Finally, the
sap of all the plants flowed into the ocean, which turned to milk, then to butter, ultimately resulting in
the divine physician Dhanvantari to bear the elixir. The Asuras surrendered the elixir to Vishnu, but he
gave it to the Devas. Rahu snatched a drop but before swallowing it, he was decapitated by Vishnu. ...

This explains why the moon disappears and reappears. The Asuras were enraged and offered battle,
but the gods were victorious and put Mount Mandara back in its proper place. What I personally find
unique in this story is that these powerful gods used a plan to trick others, who were less powerful
than them, to churn the ocean for them. I also find it unique that they wanted the elixir of immortality
when they are already gods and are immortal. I think it s very common in myths for someone to
always be on the search for immortality and/or gaining god like abilities. This would make it a very
popular story because even in today s world, whether it s for science or cosmetic purposes, people are
always looking for the fountain of youth and the answer to living

Leap Of The Brethren Pantry Summary
Least of the Brethren is a local food pantry in Pinkneyville, it is where I am choosing to plunge for my
assignment. I am choosing this culture because of the high number of low socioeconomic students that
attend school in our area. I feel it is important to understand the needs in our area in order to connect
with future students and their families. To be very honest, I know there is a great need for support in
our area. However, I assume the families that need this support also receive government assistance
through programs such as WIC and Link. Plunging into this culture I hope to gain a better
understanding of why pantries are still needed and how I can become more active in addressing the
need locally. With the knowledge I hope to gain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the break the volunteers asked us several questions. From what I gathered all of the volunteers
also need the assistance of the pantry. Many asked us how they could help us, assuming we had fallen
on hard times. I assured them they we were just there to help them and donate our time. Volunteers
receive each goods in their boxes in return for their help.
Application of Plunge Experience Prior to taking the plunge I was not aware that even with
government programs there is still a need for pantries in our local area. This brings a very large
challenge to my educational environment. I will need to find out which students will require this need
to be addressed. As a classroom teacher, I will need to bring awareness to the students that do not have
this need that a part of their role in our community is to help those in need. This can be done through
volunteering and donations.
The challenge that individuals from the group will bring to the education environment is one that
directly impact their learning. It is well understood that children cannot learn until their most basic
needs are met. Yes, we offer free breakfast to students, but many arrive too late to receive this service
and often one muffin is not enough to address their hunger. This plunge made me aware of the
challenges many students will face in my

The And Collective Memory Of The First World War
Contemporary Canadian reimagining of the First World war is from the book Catching the torch by a
Brock University teacher Neta Gordon. She wrote this book in 2014. She tries to explain to the reader
the conflict between history and collective memory of the First World War. With many other essays,
she focuses on the role of the Canadian army in the First World war. As we know, the Canadian army
entered the war in early 1915 to offer help to the Britain soldiers fighting against the Germans. The
Canadian army was basically forced to join because they were a member of the British Empire.
On the one hand, Gordon quotes from Jonathan Vance s Death So Noble: Memory, meaning and the
First world war: the dominant or collective memory of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most of the work that Gordon studied and with the publication date from this book, we can also say
that collective memory is not a whole. Most of the soldiers are dead at this time and she had to rely on
works that were published years later after the First War. Gordon quoted Winter in the first few
chapters of her book, he stated: This sense of the socially constructed nature of collective memory is
vital to historical study, since it precludes talking about memory as if it exists independently of the
people who share it (2). From what I understand from the few pages that we had to read and with my
research done with the whole book, the collective memory is based on the present memory, but since
the soldiers they rely on are no longer in a group or in the same place, it is mostly a memory from one
person.
Another thing she said that made me realize how true her statement was with the novel that we studied
during this term. She stated that: many of the narratives this volume examines rehabilitate the figure of
the father and/or conception of productive masculinity; many follow in the tradition of early twentieth
century home front novels by women to consider the value of female work, in wartime and beyond
[...] and most conclude with a look to the future (which is now the present) and a sense of promise that
is decidedly free from irony. (21 22)

The Miraculous Substance Of Radium Girls

that it extended lifespans, increased sex drive, made women more beautiful, and had many other
fantastic effects. The world was infatuated with radium and displayed this by putting it in slews of
items including face cream, bread, chocolate, suppositories, toy sets for children, drinking water (as
shown in figure 1), toothpaste, watch faces, and many more products. (List from scribal.com, 2007) It
was used often in pharmaceuticals and described by advertisers as nature s way to health. Doctors

PowerBar and the Market
PowerBar began as a company seeking to create a performance enhancing food that marathoners
could consume during an energy draining race. Initially, the product was marketed and distributed at
bike shops and events where running and biking were the competition medium. As this new category
began to expand, new entrants began to enter the market. These new entrants began ... Show more

However, this limited view allowed them to miss the concept of creating bars focused on women.
Their close competitor, Clif Bar, built a solid brand for itself. However, Clif Bar recognized that the
market was heavily focused on males and was missing the opportunity to bring women into category.
Clif Bar had major success with the launch of Luna Bar. Luna Bar saw that women were not being
properly targeted and marketed. Luna positioned itself as being created by women for women to
address their needs. Luna s recognized that women have interest driven by several needs and interests.
These needs and interest will directly influence their purchasing behaviors. Balance Bar paired its
approach to go hand in hand with the Zone Diet. The Zone Diet focused on reduced carbohydrates by
balancing them with protein and unsaturated fats. Balance Bar focused more on the fact that

What Is A Strict Role Of Diversity In The Elizabethan Era
Karissa Head
Mrs. LaPalme
English Composition
04 December 2015
The Bard In the time of the Elizabethan Era there was a strict role of diversity. People were judged by
fame, wealth, skills, and birth; then placed in social groups based on how they were judged. In this era
many people did not rise above what they were born into, but for William Shakespeare he made
becoming famous in the late 1500 s look easy. Still to this day he is talked about, even though
somethings about his personal life are uncertain. Records record that, William was born in Stratford
upon Avon, England. His father suffered with financial debts, so William was not able to attend
university. Instead, he attended the local grammar school, the King s New School. Where he ... Show

Love is not love (1 2). This is stating that in a marriage honesty is the key, and William does not want
to know different; if it is. A couple that admits their wrong doings, is a couple that is in love. Love can
be harsh, William implies this by saying, Love is not love (2). Not saying there is not such feeling of
love, but that true love hurts the most. True love never changes or disappears, the love never fades if
one was to walk away. Love is never shaken by reality. It is forever, everlasting even in struggles the
love in the relationship shines through. Both members of the loving relationship work as a team. They
guide each other with words if they wander of tract. All these wonderful facts can be found in lines
two through five. Shakespeare says there is not value of love, but attitude can be measured. Love is
not eternal, as to lust is timed. He says, Whose worth is unknown, although his height be taken. Love s
not time s fool, though rosy lips and cheeks (8 9). Time is nothing to love, but through time rosy lips
and cheeks (9) love is destroyed. True love is not measured by hours and weeks (10). It bears (11) the
struggles even to the edge of doom

The Role Of Detective Sherlock Holmes By Arthur Conan Doyle
Arthur Conan Doyle
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote novels, short stories, poems and autobiographical works. In 1890, his
novel, A Study in Scarlet, introduced the character of Detective Sherlock Holmes. Sir Arthur would go
on to write 60 stories about Sherlock Holmes. He also strove to spread his spiritualism and faith
through a series of books that were written from 1918 to 1926. Doyle had many struggles in his life,
but became a better person through all the hard times. His struggles show how much he was driven to
become something great and inspiring.
On May 22, 1859, Arthur Conan Doyle was born in Edinburgh, Scotland to a Catholic family of ten.
At the age of 9, Doyle bid a tearful goodbye to his parents and was shipped off to England, where he
would attend Hodder Place, Stonyhurst a Jesuit preparatory school from 1868 to
1870(Biography.com). His father, Charles Altamont Doyle, had been an architect and an artist.
Unfortunately, his talents were shadowed by alcoholism and epilepsy. He eventually died in an asylum
where he was institutionalized. The family, therefore suffered financially, though Doyle s mother,
Mary, was able to pay for his schooling at a Jesuit institution (Grade Saver).
Doyle decided to pursue medical studies at Edinburgh University, and had to take a job as a doctor s
assistant to pay for his school fees. He was already writing and publishing stories but, set up a practice
in Southsea in the early 1800 s. During this period, he completed the first

Mexico Is A Country Full Of Rich Traditions And Cultures
Mexico is located in North America. It is a country full of rich traditions and cultures. The people are
friendly and laid back. They are very professional but are more relaxed when it comes to certain
things. They do not live to work but work to live. Businesses run the normal hours that one associates
businesses with, with the exception that they are generally closed an hour for lunch. Body language is
also somewhat different than what Americans are used to. The normal personal space that one is used
to is not common in Mexico. In doing business with a Mexican company you will want to take the
time to develop a relationship with them. All in all the process to do business with a Mexican
company will be well worth it.
Doing Business in Mexico
In the 16th century, Mexico was conquered and colonized by Spain ( The World Factbook , n.d.).
Mexico did not receive its independence until the 19th century ( The World Factbook , n.d.). Mexico is
located in North America and borders both the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico between the
United States and Belize. It also borders the North Pacific Ocean, between the United States and
Guatemala. Its climate ranges from tropical to desert and its terrain has low coastal plains, mountains,
desert and high plateaus ( The World Factbook , n.d.). Mexico has some potential natural disasters that
one should be aware of. Because of its close proximity to the ocean it is in the possible path for

  • 3. SWOT Analysis of the Balanced Scorecard in the UK Banking... In the last two decades of the 20th century, the UK banking industry experienced huge change because of three factors: deregulation, new technology and increasing competition (Gardener et al, 1999, cited in Hailey et al, 2005). Some banks such as NatWest, Halifax and Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), have successfully survived from the impact of the new century. Just as the head of employee at RBS indicates, the most significant part of their success is the use of the Balanced Scorecard in the performance of employees. But in the joy of the discovery of the New World also comes the tragedy of the Old World. The Spanish Inquisition was one of the darkest periods of time in Jewish history. Christianity s view of other religions as inferior is portrayed in many well known pieces of literature, including one of William Shakespeare s most famous plays, The Merchant of Venice. A decision was eventually made and the Venetian Republic decided to allow them to remain and ordered the segregation of the Jews of the city in a special quarter, formerly known as Ghetto Nuova, a small, dirty island which became the world s first ghetto. A little later, the Ghetto Vecchio, was added to the district. Hence the term Ghetto spread throughout Italy, where the Jewish quarters, compulsorily established in subsequent years, became known officially by this name, (Roth. 273.) Jews of Italian and German origin both moved into this ghetto. The Germans came to Venice to seek refuge from of persecution in their former communities, while the Italians came from Rome and from the South, where they faced anti Semitism. Jews from the Levant, who practiced Sephardic traditions, moved into Ghetto Vecchio in 1541. The Spanish and Portuguese Jews also came to Venice in the late 16th century and were the strongest and wealthiest community in the ghetto. Many of the Spanish and Portuguese Jews were Marranos and became Jewish again once moving to Venice. The Spanish/Portuguese and Levantines lived in the Ghetto Vecchio. The German, Italian and Levantine communities were independent, yet lived side by side to one another. There are three functional classifications of joints; synarthroses which are immobile, amphiarthroses which are slightly mobile, and diarthroses which are freely mobile(3). Fibrous joints are classified as having articulating bones joined by dense regular connective tissue (mainly consisting of collagen) and no joint cavity(3). Majority of fibrous joints are synarthroses or amphiarthroses. The three types of fibrous joints are sutures, gomphoses, and syndesmoses. Sutures are synarthroses joints present on the skull(2). The sutural ligament which is composed of connective tissue fibers and is continuous with the periosteum joins the two skull bones(1,2). One has had a long career in the industry and the other has unfortunately has had a short career. Both have had wonderful and successful lives and are still well known for what they accomplished with their music. Buddy Holly played rock n roll for a few short year but the music he recorded in that time has made a major and forever lasting impact on popular music. Not only did he write his own music, but he was also the first to exploit advanced studio techniques such as double tracking, (rockhall.com). Bob Dylan on the other hand is a recognized poet laureate of the rock n roll era and the pre eminent singer/songwriter of modern times. No matter if he is singing topical folk songs, exploring rootsy rock and blues, or delivering one of his abstract, allegorical compositions, he is always demonstrating a rare ability to reach listeners with his lyrics, (rockhall.com). • 10. Depression In William Wordsworth I have been seeing three new patients recently, all Romantic poets who appear to be suffering from various levels of melancholy. Although each one of these poets is highly successful and influential in the Romantic Movement, each has experienced bouts of dejection, loneliness, and disillusionment with reality. However, this melancholy seems different from cases I have encountered in the past. Strangely, none of these clients show symptoms of the excessive black bile that typically associated with melancholy such as apathy, lack of motivation, and hopelessness (Brady, Haapala). In fact, while all of these clients experience melancholic thoughts, these emotions appear to be more complex than depression as they allow the pleasures of deep reflection and often lead to feelings of sublime joy and inspiration. Instead of suffering from a clinical form of melancholy or depression, these clients appear to be experiencing a complex emotion of joypain which they believe has the capacity to reveal the infinite powers of the self or the imagination (Murray, 722). Yet, while all of these poets seem to believe in the importance of melancholy as inspiration for their work, each of these poets also seems to express this emotion in different ways. While one of these poets, Mr. William Wordsworth, often turns his negative ruminations into positive reflections on nature and memory, Mr. Coleridge instead experiences deeper melancholic moments that he cannot dispel quite so easily. Here he is implying that she lacks the compassion of a woman. This line foreshadows her husband s murder. Clytemnestra thinks highly of herself and even demonstrates some feminist qualities. She states, Don t insult my intelligence. You treat me like a child (Agamemnon 276). First, she is clearly stating that she is intelligent, and that she knows she is intelligent. Second, she is negatively referencing children. As a woman, she is speaking negatively about her treatment, but one would think her maternal qualities would kick in and she would refrain from speaking of children negatively. Her self confidence possibly comes from the fact that her husband is away at war for many years and she is left in charge of the household, but regardless, her actions are seen as brazen by many. Women are looked upon negatively by society, even in this ancient Greek society. The chorus states Trust a woman to praise a sign/ before the truth is clear (Agamemnon 483 484). • 12. My Experience At Connecticut College When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a certain point on the floor, it s to enjoy each step along the way. (Wayne Dwyer) There is no description or analogy more accurate to describe my experience both watching and performing dance this past semester at Connecticut College. As a freshman, it was difficult to move forward with dance in a new environment since I have had the same dance experience for 15 years. I found myself equating movements and steps to styles more known to me; I was searching for comfort among the abundance of unfamiliarity. The challenge was to embrace modern dancing for everything it entailed. Through watching both professional dancers and other students, as well as improving my personal technique, I certainly feel that I have found a new appreciation for dance. Of all the dance performances this semester, my favorite was the Department Concert. Even though all of the artists were extraordinary to watch, I was able to connect with the dancers most during the Department Concert. Watching Connecticut College students perform gave me a different feeling than the other shows. I could relate to the performers better because I have had conversations with them outside of dance and they have been there as mentors to me and the other freshmen. This feeling of inclusion was only possible because of the atmosphere of the department; everyone, regardless of class year, is genuinely welcomed. • 13. How Does Hector Criticize The Greek Honor System Homer s Critique on the Greek Honor System in The Iliad The Iliad, a great epic poem written by Homer, illustrates the honor system valued deeply by the Greeks and Trojans. Though Homer uses Hector as a voice piece for the honor system, he presents Hector and other characters as heroes that conflict with the code itself. Through Hector s conversation with Paris, we identify the three main components that codes the honor system. In other great epic poems, great heroes appear to possess and suffice the components. Yet, Homer chooses to do the exact opposite. In The Iliad, the heroes , such as, Paris, Diomedes, and Hector himself, conflict with the codes. Homer criticizes the Greek honor system by contradicting the system through these conflicted heroes. Through Hector, Homer points out the transfer of glory between enemies through battle as one of the main components in the honor system. Hector expresses this particular concept through his conversation with Paris. In book 3, when Paris avoids Menelaus, Hector forces him back into battle by saying, Can t you just hear it, the long haired Greeks chuckling and saying that our champion wins for good looks but comes up ... From Hector s use of verbal irony, we can see he expects and believes that only through fighting a final heroic battle head on will bring honor; thus, it must be obeyed. In early 1990 s, developing countries such as China used to borrow capital from developed countries. But developed countries suffered currency crisis due to low level of foreign exchange holding and it caused developing countries capital outflow and recession. After the currency crisis, developed countries started managing international capital flows. These countries increased the saving but reduced the investment therefore it caused the current account surplus. Countries such as South Korea and Thailand started holding high volume of foreign currency and it led to global saving glut. It allowed the US to overinvest and in 2002 the US recorded current account deficit of over $450 billion. A factor contributed to the low interest rate was an influx of Chinese capital into the US. Bernanke (2005) suggested the global saving glut helped increase in the US currency account deficit and the relatively low level of long term real interest rates in the world. • 16. Prison System And Prison Overcrowding The Prison System and Prison Overcrowding Abigail Wheeler Dr. Liles CRJU 1000 November 16, 2017 The U.S. Prison System and Prison Overcrowding As of 2015, 2.7% of adults in the United States were under correctional control, the lowest rate since 1994, however that is still roughly 6.7 million adults (Kaeble Glaze, 2016). While the correctional population has declined, correctional facilities in the United States are still grossly overcrowded, with many facilities at or surpassing capacity. A report in 2010 by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation showed that on average, facilities were at 175% capacity (Brown, 2010). However, as of midnight on October 31st, 2017 the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation reported that their facilities, on average, were 132% occupied (Brown, 2017). Not only is prison overcrowding a burden on the facilities themselves, but also on the inmates. Prison overcrowding, that is, housing more inmates than the facility can humanely facilitate (Haney, 2006), places a strain on all resources throughout the correctional facility, including on the healthcare that s offered, educational programs, and most dramatically on the physical space available to house inmates (Ekland Olson, 1983). The first court case to bring up the treatment of inmates as a violation of their 8th amendment rights was Holt v. Cardio activities are a good example of this, such as running or biking. This type of exercise increases the strength of a person s heart and boosts their lung capacity. Anaerobic exercise is an intense but short amount of exercise (Payment). Since it is only for a brief amount of time, it does not require the amount of oxygen aerobic exercise does. Premises that Searle gives for this claim is that programs are entirely formal (syntactical) and mind have semantic. Syntax by itself is neither constitutive of nor sufficient for semantics. • 22. Stop And Frisk Research Paper Stop and frisk has two components that define the stop element as well as the frisk element. The stop element is defined as when a law enforcement officer briefly detains an individual, and the officer has reasonable suspicion to believe a crime has occurred, is occurring, or is about to occur, and ask questions of the individual regarding a preliminary investigation and excludes the requirement of probable cause (Bethel, 2015). Furthermore, the frisk element may be conducted if the officer has reasonable suspicion the individual has a weapon, and is performed as a limited pat down search of the outer clothing on the individual detained by the officer (Bethel, 2015). If a weapon is discovered, the officer is authorized to conduct a more in depth investigation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The same applications are among law enforcement agencies across the nation, however, every law enforcement agency shares the same mission to protect and to serve it s jurisdiction. In my humble opinion, the scope for stop and frisk is an essential part of law enforcement s goal of keeping their communities safe and protecting the citizens and it s properties. Where there s smoke, there s more than likely going to be a fire that started the smoke or a source of heat that initiated the smoke. The bureaucratic red tape has smothered a substantial amount of police tactics in the last several years and common sense allows us to notice a serious decrease in respect towards law enforcement as well as limited actions law enforcement can apply to situations because they appear too militarized or overkill. For example, it was due to stop and frisk that allowed an officer to stop and frisk a suspect named Wayne Williams in Atlanta, Georgia, after the officer heard a splash in a river nearby and observed Williams driving off a bridge that went over the waterway. The officer was able to initiate a stop and frisk, that led to the discovery of a murdered victim and identified the suspect because of this tactic (Marcou, 2010). • 23. Persuasive Essay On Organic Food A cultural shift to organic is critical for future human and environmental benefits for three reasons. First, a person s health depends on good food being put in the body. Organic foods do not contain any artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, or pesticides making them better for one s health. The Environmental Protection Agency estimates that 60% of all herbicides, 90% of all fungicides and 30% of all pesticides all chemicals in conventionally grown agriculture cause cancer (CCOF). The bottom line is that these chemicals are poisons designed to kill living organisms and can all harm humans. Another reason would be that organic foods use natural fertilizers such as compost or manure, crop rotation, and careful breeding, many people say organics have a better, fresher taste than non organic foods. Some studies show that organically grown food has higher amounts of vitamin C, magnesium, phosphorous, and iron (Crinnion) Chefs boast about using organic foods from local vendors all the time. Then another reason would be that organic farming is a definite win/win for the environment. Organic farming management relies on developing biological diversity in the field to disrupt the habitat for pest organisms for maintaining soil fertility. Since bagged fertilizer is not used, organic farming reduces the amount of groundwater pollution and soil erosion while increasing the biodiversity of animal, plant, and microbial life in a given biome. Weight Distribution Of Paper Air Lab Report Effect of the weight distribution on the flight distance of a Paper Airplane By: Melinda Martin UBT1: Western Governors University Introduction This report shows the effects of weight distribution has on the flight distance of a paper airplane. Just like with real airplanes, paper airplanes rely on aerodynamics to get the airplane to fly, although, they may not look or fly the same they use the same. Changing the postion of where the weight is distrubuted on a paper airplane can affect the planes ability to fly as far. There are other forces ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The dependent variable was the distance each plane flew, this was measured in inches using a 16 foot tape measurer. There were three controlled variables, the first was the size and weight of the paper airplanes with the paper clip attached, I used the same size paper, paper airplane design, and the 28mm paper clip for each plane. The second starting position where I stood, I marked a designated position to stand at and threw the planes with my right foot at the starting line each throw. The final controlled variable was how the planes were held and thrown, I held each plane at the center of the plane and threw with my right arm. Hypothesis: Based on a previous paper airplane experiment coducted on balancing lift and weight, you can change the center of gravity by placing weight on different parts of the plane. The further towards the nose of the plane the more likely it ll nose dive. Moving the weight towards the tail will cause the nose to go up. (Science Buddies, 2013). Given this infomtion, I hypothesize that placing weight on the center of the paper airplane will give it the center of gravity it needs to fly the furthest distance. Materials and Methods: To conduct this experiment, I used the following materials: Figure 1. The equipment used to conduct the experiment.

With many other essays, she focuses on the role of the Canadian army in the First World war. As we know, the Canadian army entered the war in early 1915 to offer help to the Britain soldiers fighting against the Germans. Gordon quoted Winter in the first few chapters of her book, he stated: This sense of the socially constructed nature of collective memory is vital to historical study, since it precludes talking about memory as if it exists independently of the people who share it (2). From what I understand from the few pages that we had to read and with my research done with the whole book, the collective memory is based on the present memory, but since the soldiers they rely on are no longer in a group or in the same place, it is mostly a memory from one person. Another thing she said that made me realize how true her statement was with the novel that we studied during this term. She stated that: many of the narratives this volume examines rehabilitate the figure of the father and/or conception of productive masculinity; many follow in the tradition of early twentieth century home front novels by women to consider the value of female work, in wartime and beyond [...] and most conclude with a look to the future (which is now the present) and a sense of promise that is decidedly free from irony.
