Disadvantages Of Wireless Technology
No doubt, in last few decades technologies involved in the communication systems have been
developed exponentially along with attractive features and facilities. Wireless communication system
is one of the biggest inventions of the century and its developments can be processed in different terms
of generation having approx. 10 years for each one. At every step of each generation is to provide to
link with persons at every corner of globe with set of quality services. Today we are in Fourth
Generation; it is categorized based on its characteristic services and features like transmission signals,
data transmission rate, bandwidth frequency and nature of the services provided. First generation (1G)
is introduced in 1980, so each generation had been comes at the end of every decade. First generation
used analog signals, circuit switching and FDMA with 30 kHz channels occupying the 824MHz
894MHz frequency band .First generation supports only voice transmission .The data was not reliable;
there were interrupted communication and few other problems in First Generation [1]. Second
Generation (2G) technology was established in 1990, which used digital signals for transmission and
two digital modulation schemes TDMA and CDMA with circuit switched network . Second
Generation uses the existing radio spectrum to provide the services. It was developed to overcome the
previous generation s drawbacks, and to have data and voice transmission. But this generation also has
few drawbacks like

The Purpose of the Labor Relations Act
Over the last seventy five years labor related issues has went through a dramatic changed that affects
today labor movement. During the 1930 s the labor movement gained due to the abundance of labor,
employers easily replaced workers. Labor unions were established in order for workers to get
organized and bargain for their needs and rights. These unions were created because it was known that
groups have more power in bargaining than individuals. When large groups of employees make joint
decisions, employers are forced to listen to their concerns. For example, if all the workers in a factory
stopped working at the same time, it would be difficult to keep the company operating. Early unions in
North America faced a difficult battle. Employers refused to accept the unions. The courts often
declared the unions illegal. The National Labor Relations Act of 1935 and other laws required
employers to bargain with unions. Political parties and other groups have also become involved with
the labor movement (Labor Movement). Understanding the legal ramifications involved both with and
without a union is a necessity for all human resource professionals. I will address the differences and
similarities in employee relations approaches in both types of environments. In addition reviewing key
aspects of labor relations law and the collective bargaining process, I will address the purpose of the
Labor Relations Act and what it provides for workers. From there, the purpose of the Labor

History Of The Berlin Wall
The Cold War by nature divided Europe in two camps capitalist West, and communist East. This
slowed down the political, economic and social integration drastically. As Winston Churchill put it, an
iron Curtain had descended across Europe. Consequently, Europe was more divided than any other
time in history. Germany was divided into east and west. Berlin itself was also divided into similar
territories which caused a huge economic, political and social strain on its people. The construction of
the Berlin wall was one of the pivotal moments of the Cold War as it served as a physical illustration
of the iron Curtain . Today however, Germany has become the economic hotspot of the EU so
evidently the Cold War only hindered/delayed the inevitable

Foreign Exchange Rates And Hedging Options
Foreign Exchange Rates and Hedging Options
There are three hedging options that are commonly used. Hedge is to reduce losses due to volatility of
foreign exchange rates. Hedging instruments use options and futures which are derivative instruments.
One type of hedging is using a forward contract. This method is to lock in a FX position that would
provide stability and not succumb to the fluctuations of FX rates. By locking in an FX rate, it gives the
company the right to the currency exchange rate specified for a future time. This means that if FX is to
adverse or benefit of FX will be minimized for the future.
Another technique to minimize FX risk is to purchase options. The purchaser of an option sets an
exchange rate at a future date that the purchaser may exchange at. If the FX is beneficial, the
purchaser may execute reaping the gains, however if the FX is unfavorable, the purchaser will not
exercise.
A third instrument is to hedge using currency exchange traded fund (ETF). Purchasing currency ETFs
on the stock market allows the purchaser to either buy or short sell the stock to mitigate FX risk. As
the ETF is correlated to the fluctuations of FX, if rates are favorable the stock price will appreciate,
whereas rates are unfavorable the stock price will depreciate.
To improve internal controls in reconciliation, GWL should provide proper foreign exchange training
to existing staff. This will ensure the accounting staff team understands where to book, and are up to

Analysis Of Chester Inc.
Introduction
Chester Inc. is a client of SNHU, LLC who prepares the financial statements and financial analysis for
Chester Inc. This report will detail several key items including the accounting effects of international
expansion as it relates to differences between Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), the
United States standards, and the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), the standards that
would govern a portion of the financial reporting with an international expansion. This report will also
review the financial performance of Chester Inc. Additionally; it will use ratio analysis to compare
Chester Inc. with two of its main competitors.
Changes for IFRS
International Financial Reporting Standards, in many ways, are similar to Generally Accepted
Accounting Principles (GAAP) however, a few key differences do exist. One of the differences to be
most aware of would be necessary changes. Many companies will need to make significant changes to
existing accounting policies to comply with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS),
including such key areas as revenue recognition, inventory accounting, financial instruments and
hedging, employee benefits plans, impairment testing, provisions, and stocked based compensation. (
PWC , 2014) Of these listed areas of particular concern for Chester Inc. will be revenue recognition,
inventory, and financial statements. Changes in these areas are not just structural or largely cosmetic

Structure in A Woman s Beauty by Susan Sontag
In Sontag s A Woman s Beauty the structure the author uses for the story has a dramatic impact on the
readers. In the story, Sontag structures the essay base on many historical events and other religious
ideas to support her idea, how a woman sometime is only judge by her appearance. Specifically,
Sontag uses three ideas in the story to support her argument. First is in history what the Greeks believe
in a woman s beauty. Second, Sontag discuss about how the Christian religion plays a major role in
shaping how a woman is judge only base on her beauty. In the end, Sontag talks about in today s
society how woman are still judge by her beauty. However, in the end Sontag mentions how the
society should stop judging a woman only base on her beauty. In the beginning, Sontag structures the
history on what the Greeks believe about a woman s beauty. Base on what Sontag describes, the
Greeks believe if a woman is beautiful in the outside, she must be really beautiful in the inside as well,
in this quote If it did occur to the Greeks to distinguish between a person s inside and outside, they
still expected that inner beauty would be matched by beauty of the other kind. (Sontag 15) in this
quote Sontag talks about how the Greeks believe if a woman is pretty in the outside, she must be a
good person inside. Moreover, after the discussion about what the Greeks believe in history, Sontag
compares that idea to today s society. We not only split off with the greatest

Prejudice And Racism In New York University
The other encounter with the world we live in and racism was in college. We lived in an apartment
style dorm with 4 other people. There were 3 bedrooms and a common area. The entire building was
composed with males and females from all over the world and of different ethnicities. It was a melting
pot just like New York City. My friendship with the other roommates really opened up my mind to
other cultures and understand their differences. It was a very enlightening experience. We all played
sports at the University. Whenever we had free time, our teammates would come over to our room and
we would listen music. Usually it was the R B and Rap station from the radio station at the University
or CDs. We would always have a good time and

King s Injustice In A Birmingham Jail
King writes about the injustices imposed specifically on Blacks, and the need for the United States to
recognize and annul these wrongdoings. In his letter, King is in a Birmingham jail, arrested for
protesting segregation. He wasn t willing to sit on the sidelines of the fight for equality while his
brothers and sisters fought and died for their cause. He was willing to sacrifice everything for this
cause. He responds to his fellow clergymen that called his actions unwise and untimely , usually not
responding to such inquiries, except this specific case, he realized that they had pure intentions and he
felt it his duty to try to help them understand his cause. He has so much passion for justice; it was his
only concern. King

Mr Darcy Transition
Mr. Darcy s Painting: A Look at Elizabeth s Reaction to a Smile
In Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice, Elizabeth undergoes a transition from an initial prejudice against
Mr. Darcy to an understanding of him which leads to marriage. The transition that Elizabeth
undergoes is sparked by curious events. The moment of Mr. Darcy s proposal and the letter he gives
Elizabeth immediately afterwards, to Elizabeth s unexpected visit to Pemberley, Austen makes us
question how one changes their opinion as quickly as Elizabeth does about Darcy. In following this
transition we are brought to the heart of the novel: when Elizabeth sees a painting of Mr. Darcy in his
home at Pemberley. Here something happens to Elizabeth when she fixed his [Mr. Darcy s ... Show

Collins. The fiery anger that comes out of the Darcy proposal is contrasted to the mild disagreement
between Elizabeth and Collins. The language Elizabeth used in both cases show how differently she
takes the proposals. With Darcy, she holds the resentment he has towards the behavior of her family as
well as their class differences as a large problem for their potential marriage. This is not the problem
between Elizabeth and Collins. Both Collins and Darcy provide Elizabeth with wealth that would
make her comfortable in a practical way (even though one is clearly better than the other in this
manner). But the argument for Elizabeth against Mr. Collins is her heart. She doesn t respect Collins
in the way that she respects Darcy. Instead of using the word gratitude like Elizabeth does with Darcy,
she responds Accept my thanks for the compliment you are paying me. I am very sensible of the
honour of your proposals, but it is impossible for me to do otherwise than to decline them Elizabeth
calls what she feels a complement and a honor but leaves out respect. If she had a respect for Collins
she would feel more gratitude for his proposal but the way the conversation unfolds reveals Elizabeth
s problem. Collins stops himself before his feelings run away from himself to explain logically why
they are getting married. And when Elizabeth informs him of her answer he does not accept her

Blood and Digestion
Blood a journey through the body. You might find yourself asking, what does blood have to do with
digestion, respiration and circulation? Hopefully, after the presentation all of your questions will be
answered.
When a person thinks of digestion they usually think about what happens in the stomach. A lot has
happened to digest the food way before it gets to the stomach. It starts in the mouth or oral cavity. It is
a process called mechanical digestion. First, Mastication begins. Mastication is the chewing of the
food. A person will crush, grind and tear the food apart. That gets the food ready for deglutition.
Deglutition is the swallowing of the mashed up food. When we swallow peristalsis begins. Peristalsis

Like the nose it also filters dust and other particles from reaching the lungs, and it has mucous
membranes to warm and moisten the air. When the air leaves the pharynx it moves on to the larynx.
The larynx is also called the voice box. It not only remains open for speech, but also during
respiration. The larynx merges with the trachea just below the vocal cords. The trachea is also called
the wind pipe, and it is a one inch tube that connects to the bronchi. The bronchi divide into the right
and left mainstream bronchi. After entering a lung each side branches off forming many smaller
passages. In the center of the bronchi is the lumen. It is the central opening where the air passes
through.
The lungs are sponges that fill with air, and fill every inch the surrounding thoracic cavity. The lungs
contain lobes. The lobes divide each lung, and the right lung being bigger has more lobe divisions.
The pulmonary veins enter here and exit here as well. Inside the lungs are clusters of air sacks that are
called alveoli. The alveoli are part of the bronchioles that enter each lung. The oxygen and carbon
dioxide are exchanged in the lungs. The exchange happens from a small blood vassal nod the alveoli.
When the oxygen exchange is completed the inhaled air moves into the blood. While the oxygen
moves into the blood the carbon dioxide is exhaled by the lungs. Before the blood can be moved
properly it has to be made into oxyhemoglobin.

Why Music Should Be Censored
Nowadays many people try to convince other people that censoring music on the radio and CDs is not
a right thing as censorship can hide a meaning of the song. There are a lot of different factors why
many people want their songs to be the way that the songwriter writes them. But these people usually
forget that there are many more factors why songs should be censored. On the other hand, people want
songs to be сensored because uncensored music can highly affect young children, limit the exposure
of people s morality and some people want music to be censored because they are working in the
music industry and by changing some words can help them to make more revenue.
First of all, in our days our generations keep on changing constantly. And all generations tend to listen
to music, but past two generations have increased their interest to music. Especially the teenagers that
can listen to music for twenty four hours and seven days a week . And as many people know, music
can easily impact people and specially teenagers as most of them start undergoing puberty. So
uncensored music can push teenagers to commit stupid actions, without even knowing the
consequences of that action. Lloyd in his article describes what music can do to teenagers by writing It
has one appeal only, a barbaric appeal, to sexual desire not love, ... but sexual desire undev6eloped
and untutored. It acknowledges the first emanations of children s emerging sensuality and addresses

Water In Emerson s Essay
An essay discussing the use of water throughout Emerson s Nature. The essay analyzes the use of
water to symbolize a man s spirit, a life force, the connection of man and nature, and the sheer power
that nature holds. The use of water metaphorically and literally is explained in depth and viewed
through many different lenses. Many metaphors and multiple uses of imagery are created through the
idea of water. I will use this source to connect and bring more figurative language pieces about water
into my essay. The essay also explains Emerson s background and why water is used so frequently
throughout Emerson s essay. Knowing this background information will be helpful in explaining the

nature should be viewed. The post provided a further argument that Emerson believes that Nature

metaphor pertaining to a snake shedding his skin, and the allusion to youthfulness. I will use this post

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Teixobactin
Another anti infection the first in about 30 years has been found by researchers who claim it gives off

Spanish As A Spanish Language
Spanish is one of the most common languages in the world. Many people can read and write in
Spanish, but some people aren t able to speak in Spanish such as me. Even though I struggled with
Spanish, I overcame it by practicing every day and getting help to speak it correctly. Back in high
school, I did well in all my classes including Spanish. I understand the meaning and grammar of some
Spanish words, but I struggled to speak it. My teacher wanted us to present in Spanish. I heard that I
was worried because I m not the best at presenting and especially speaking in Spanish (of course). In a
matter of seconds, I decided that I need to practice if I want to get a good grade and boost up my
G.P.A.
On the next day, I downloaded an app called Duolingo that helps you learn and speak a new language.
To me, it s helpful because I can practice ten to 20 minutes per day and go over some materials. On
google reviews, most people loved Duolingo s lessons being so shorter, quicker, and easier than
Rosetta Stone. It can let me go back to lessons for a recap what I did. Better yet it uses audio to let me
hear how it sounds and speaking slowly to pronounce. Over a week, I had improved my speaking
skills from speechless to mumbling quietly. This app is great in learning a new language, but not at
speaking to people (which is my problem).
When I came back to school, I decided to ask one of my friends Kenzie to help me gain confidence for
my presentation. By the way, she is better than me

Shooting Stars
Shooting Stars
The poem Shooting Stars by Carol Ann Duffy tells a shocking story of a female prisoner held by
Nazis in a concentration camp around the time of the Holocaust. The poem is set in 1940, Hitler and
his Nazi party had taken control of most of Europe and had vowed to exterminate the entire Jewish
race.
Duffy s haunting use of imagery and word choice make this poem so memorable and its very strong
opening prepares the reader for the rest of the poem.
The title choice, Shooting Stars is a very effective and ambiguous title. The first meaning is that the
word Stars represent the Jewish symbol, The Star of David. Jewish people were forced to wear them
on their clothes to mark them out as targets of abuse and torment for ... Show more content on

The word gaze shows that these men are detached from their emotions as they are part of a mass
slaughtering which seems hard to believe that that is humanly possible.
Duffy then uses the literary technique, enjambment to combine the first and second stanzas. This
technique is used to emphasize the point, Mourn for the daughters / upright as statues and carry the
impact through the two stanzas. Duffy shows how the women are stood firm and even in the most
humiliating, de humanised state.
You would not look at me. / You waited for the bullet the woman is looking out for her friend as they
are waiting to be killed. For the woman to be faced with death and looking out for her friend shows
the incredibly selfless personality of the Jews. The following single word line, Fell is a euphemism for
the death of the woman and gives a strong, short impact to the reader and acts like a literary bullet
which is literally the object which killed her.
Duffy tells us to Remember these appalling days which make the world forever bad . She gives the
word Remember a capital letter to emphasize the fact that we should not forget what happened there.
Duffy believes that if the memory of this atrocity stays in our memory, we can avoid any other mass,
human caused disaster to reoccur.
Enjambment is once again used to link stanzas two and three. One saw I was alive. Loosened / his
belt. This technique is used

Censorshipures And Control Government In George Orwell s...
Imagine a world where you have no privacy, no secrets, and no voice. Every step you take, every
direction you change is watched closely. Every word that comes out of your mouth is heard. You think
before you talk even in front of your own children, because they too are one of them. They control
everything you see, think, and do. They are Big Brother. In George Orwell s novel 1984 , a man
named Winston Smith lives in a world of absolute totalitarian political regime. Although the
totalitarian state is taken to the extremes in Orwell s novel, the parallel between the lives of the
citizens in the novel and citizens living in a world of censorship in China is evident. The governments
in both situations manipulate and control the people. Orwell s novel provides an example of the
outcomes of an absolute power government and how dangerous the situation truly is. Additionally, the
novel shows us how the government in China uses their advances in technology to spy on the people,
while making sure that everyone is aware that they are constantly being watched. Although the
government seems to be acting as if they are doing their part in the novel, the residents of the Air Strip
are having their rights controlled, manipulated, and violated by these powerful forces. Once the
government has absolute power, they will edit any media that their people read, hear, or see. Not only
do they control the people s minds, and thoughts, but their bodies as well. In 1984, the government

Major Factors Determining Organizational Performance And...
Organizational commitment is one of the constructs that has retained its importance throughout
decades and, despite the extensive research done in the field, still draws a high level of attention due
to its association with such preferred work attitudes as increased job satisfaction, higher performance,
lower absenteeism and turnover intentions (Yousef, 2000). It has been generally recognized that
organizational commitment is one of the major factors determining organizational performance and
effectiveness (Lok Crawford, 1999, 2004). In addition, as observed by Allen and Meyer (1990), a
common link discussed in all conceptualizations of commitment is the one between organizational
commitment and turnover, indicating that employees who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dealing with avoidant employees, who are affecting the productivity and the entire working condition
of the organization is to be given priority. The intervening method employed, whether it is inquisition,
arbitration or mediation, should be the one that best suits the organizations objectives and to resolve
the tension created by the avoidant employees. Unbiased third parties are more effective because they
are used for the management techniques that have the most potential to resolve conflicts. Bias is
inversely related to the range of issues addressed at a settlement effort. Mediation is the strategy that s
the most empowering for the parties in conflict. The role of third party in conflict management is
directed towards the actors in conflict to realize their own interests when various problems threaten or
disrupt their own bargaining relationship (Young 1967). Third parties are useful in the process of
conflict resolution, especially in work aversion employees where a thorough study about the
background of both employees and organization is needed. The third party can make positive and
direct contributions by focusing the parties on a termination agreement, providing agenda or /and
manipulating the timing of negotiation process.
In 1967, Pondy formulated a process model of conflict which is very helpful in understanding how

America s Financial System For The Housing Market
I. Introduction In 2008 America s financial system was brought to a stand still as decades of
negligence and financial decisions caused our economy to sink into the worst recession since the great
depression. Cultivating a problem worse than America has seen in roughly a century points one finger
not at a particular cause, but a string of events that finally gave way. Now, eight years later our
economy is still recovering, and time has allowed us to look back at decades of mistakes to try and
connect the dots of the perfect storm that collapsed our financial market in 2008. In 2009 Brookings
Institution, one of Washington s oldest think tanks, concluded there were three causes that resulted in
the crisis. Economists Martin Baily and Douglas Elliot stated that the results of government
intervention in the housing market, the influences Wall Street had on Washington, and global
economic forces were the three main causes of the economic collapse. They believed that a housing
bubble inflated when Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, two government sponsored enterprises, intervened
in the housing market. The banking industry was called out to be blamed for years of manipulation of
our political and financial systems. Lastly, Baily and Elliot cite the global economy and the existence
of a credit boom throughout European and Asian nations. Low inflation and consistent growth
throughout the world economy spiked investors interest in acquiring riskier investments, which

Authentic Wine Country Is A Small Enterprise
Authentic Wine Country cannot let competitors use digital media against them to attract the younger
generation and gain market share. In order to guard against competition, the company should utilize
business agility to maintain a digital model for providing superior customer service as well as
maintain a digital marketing presence that positively and correctly represents the company s services
and reputation to the younger generation. Therefore, Authentic Wine Country must acquire as much
knowledge as possible about the younger generation of consumers through big data collection.
Therefore, the company must utilize all sources of digital mediums in order to create an effective
digital presence to gather data. In addition, Authentic Wine Country must grasp that younger
customers may hear about them through digital technologies before the company has a chance to pitch
its services to consumers. Thus, maintaining as much control as possible about what the consumer
hears via social networking sites and other outlets and utilizing those sites as a means to address
customer complaints and concerns takes priority.
Authentic Wine Country is a small enterprise that would benefit from an EIMS software utilizing ERP

Human Identity in James Joyce s The Dead Essay
Human Identity in The Dead
The short story, The Dead, is the final story in Dubliners, but it is characteristic of a number of
previous stories. In the first story, The Sisters, a young boy is confronted with the death of an
influencing figure in his life. The women in Eveline and Clay are haunted by death: Eveline, by the
memory of her mother, and Maria, by the omen of her own death. A Painful Case is the story of the
tragic death of a rejected woman. A dead political figure is the basis of Ivy Day in the Committee

The title The Dead represents exactly that, people and their memories who have departed before the
characters in the story. The dead are a subject in Gabriel s speech at the dinner after the dance. Were
we to brood upon them always we could not find the heart to go on, he says in respect to the deceased.
The memories of Kate and Julia Morkan s brother, his horse, and Parkinson, a famous singer, are all
mentioned in various conversations at the dance. But, most of all, the title refers to Michael Furey,
Gretta s former love. The title pertains to those who most affect our lives after they are gone, The

Gabriel Conroy s amiable character is exemplified by his capacity for affection and his high education.
Though he considers the others at the dance to be of a different grade of culture, he has a general
concern for them all. He is concious of his superior education, not wanting his speech to seem a
reflection of it. He has a great love and compassion for his wife, wishing he could offer her more than
their tiresome life. Rather than be angered by or misinterpreting Gretta s sad situation, he comforts her

Boston Tea Party Essay
Boston Tea Party Historical Society As a little girl, I believed that The Boston Tea Party was just that,
a tea party. But it was not just any tea party that I had envisioned; it was the most decedent tea party to
ever grace the earth. It had everything, from hand painted china to crisp white table clothes. There
were over a hundred varieties of tea, each one having been imported from a different location. China,
France, Italy, England, you name it. The women that attended this tea party were well above average;
they were wealthy, upper class ladies who were perfectly poised. Each one arrived to the tea in a
carriage fit for a princess and pulled by a beautifully well kept horse. All the women wore brand new
ball gowns and white satin gloved. The whole event was a complete fairy tale that would never be
forgotten. After growing up a little more and actually learning about The Boston Tea Party in school,
my perspective had completely changed. I no longer viewed it as a fancy party, but instead, as an
event that greatly impacted American history. Back in the year 1773, the East India Company was
experiencing some major financial issues and because they played such a large role in Britain s
economy, England immediately wanted to help resolve the issue. In hopes of fixing the East India
Companies financial problems, The English Parliament decided to pass The Tea Act in the colonies.
Instead of having to ship tea from the company, to England, and then to the colonies, as done

Social Media And Its Impact On Society Essay
Take a minute to think about the world today. Everyone, surrounded by different social media sites:
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and more, is being influenced one way or another and some
without even realizing it. Throughout my lifetime I have seen a gradual increase in the amount of
social media sites, the use of magazines, and the audiences of television shows and movies. All are
experiencing a steady growth that is inflicting a negative outcome on society. With so many different
influences from one form of media to the next, it is difficult to control what sites are posting as well as
realizing what they are capable of doing to the human race, specifically to all the women in today s
society. From newspapers, magazines, and electronics, society surrounds itself in a web of negativity
and traps the human mind into thinking this is the way we are supposed to live. In 1928, the first
television broadcast came out. Then in 1991, the world wide population was exposed to the newest
and greatest invention of mankind, the internet (The Next Web). Newspapers and magazines are the
oldest forms of media yet are still prevalent in the world today. In history, newspapers were used

Causes Of Csare Lombroso
Nowadays it is common to hear expressions like beware of that man, he has the face of a thief ; These
young people are suspicious, their appearance is deplorable, or because of that scar he has, I would
say he is a criminal. It is also often observed that certain types of people are still rejected, isolated or
labeled by society, due to their physical characteristics, because they have congenital malformations,
or they have been acquired during the course of their existence. It is not good to judge by appearances,
but there are people who at first sight seem dangerous to us. In the nineteenth century, the scientist
Cesare Lombroso developed a theory that defines potential criminals by some of their physical
features.
Cesare Lombroso, a criminologist and Italian physicians, he was one of the forerunners of modern
criminology in that he may be born predisposed to be a criminal for biological causes. His legacy is
still present, although his studies and publications caused and continue to cause considerable
controversy. This Italian, who during his career published twenty five books that combine biological
science with criminology, was one of the most important exponents of criminological positivism. It is

The Problem Of A Stock Trading System Based On Prediction...
Executive Summary
The dissertation project addresses the problem of trying to build a stock trading system based on
prediction models obtained with daily stock quotes data. We will apply different models to predict the
returns of IBM stocks at the New York Stock Exchange. These predictions will be used together with a
trading rule that will generate buy and sell signals. This chapter addresses several new data mining
issues: (1) how to use R to analyze data stored in a database; (2) how to handle prediction problems
where there is a time ordering among training cases (usually known as a time series); (3) and the
consequences of wanting to translate model predictions into actions.
3.1 Problem description and objectives
Stock market trading is an application domain with a big potential for data mining.
In effect, the existence of an enormous amount of historical data suggests that data mining can provide
a competitive advantage over human inspection of this data. On the other hand there are authors
claiming that the markets adapt so rapidly in terms of price adjustments that there is no space to obtain
profits in a consistent way. This is usually known as the efficient markets hypothesis.
This theory has been successively replaced by more relaxed versions that leave some space for trading
opportunities.
The general goal of stock trading is to maintain a portfolio of stocks based on buy and sell orders. The
long term objective is to achieve as much profit as possible from these

Relationship Between A Manufacturer And A Distributor
Writing Assignment #2
The relationship between a manufacturer and a distributor is a crucial part in the success of a business
alliance or partnership. It is necessary to pay close attention to the relationship between manufacturers
and distributors in terms of trust, alliances and conflict. Manufacturers and distributors should select
each other appropriately and wisely because each member of the supply chain has different
expectations for the other. The most common two paths for a manufacturer to enter the market through
distribution are exclusively and non exclusively. Information on relations and channel paths is
significant because it will be easier be able to include them in my other projects and classes
throughout the rest of academic and professional careers.
The most vital concepts I learned in IDIS 340 is how important it is for manufacturers and distributors
to choose the right business partners. Market share is the main driver for manufacturers, so they must
turn their attention to distributors that have a wide range of access to the market. Profitability is the
primary focus of distributors so they should choose manufacturers that have a strong market brand,
supply the appropriate products to meet the market s demands, and offers a technical sales team.
Sharing common goals and visions is perhaps the most significant element in choosing how to align a
manufacturer and distributor.
After aligning with proper distributors, manufacturers have expectations that they

Doing Business In Mexico Essay
Doing Business in Mexico
Mexico is one of the largest and most open economies in the world. It has only a handful of strategic
sectors or industries not yet open to private investment. Mexico is forecasting an economic growth
rate between 2% and 3% over the next fiscal year so it is important to understand the different aspects
of what is involved with doing business in Mexico. Basic geographical information, cultural diversity,
and proper business etiquette will all play a large role in business operations.
Mexico is bordered by the United States to the north and Belize and Guatemala to the southeast.
Mexico is about one fifth the size of the United States. Baja California in the west is an 800 mile
peninsula that forms the Gulf of California. In the east are the Gulf of Mexico and the Bay of
Campeche, which is formed by Mexico s other peninsula, the Yucatán. The center of Mexico is a

Similarities And Differences Between Mesopotamia And Egypt
The ancient civilizations that inhabited Mesopotamia mark some of the first times where humans
formed complex societies. Mesopotamia was located in the Fertile Crescent in modern day Iraq,
surrounded on both sides by the Tigris and Euphrates rivers which were its source of life. Both rivers
flooded irregularly, and the black silt deposited by the flooding made the land extremely suitable for
farming. Aside from the two rivers, Mesopotamia did not have any other natural barriers like
mountains or deserts to protect itself from invaders. Ancient Egypt, another civilization that flourished
about the same time, was centered around the Nile River Valley and Delta. The area next to the river
was lush and well watered due to predictable flooding. Most of the people during this era lived close
to the river and centered their life around it. The other parts of Egypt were the Sinai Peninsula, which
connected to the Arabian Peninsula; the Western Desert, which was part of the greater Libyan Desert;
and the Eastern Desert, which was part of the Arabian Desert. These deserts made the Nile region less
accessible to other civilizations than Mesopotamia. The similarities and differences in the
geographical nature of Mesopotamia and Egypt influenced the political, economic and religious
aspects of the ancient civilizations that flourished there.
Because of its geographical location, Mesopotamia consisted of shorter lasting empires which are
generally grouped together because of the region.

HISTORYPLACE.COM writes, After the Kansas Nebraska Act was passed, pro slavery and anti
slavery supporters rushed in to settle Kansas to affect the outcome of the first election held there after
the law went into effect. Pro slavery settlers carried the election but were charged with fraud by anti
slavery settlers, and the results were not accepted by them. The anti slavery settlers held another
election, however pro slavery settlers refused to vote. This resulted in the establishment of two
opposing legislatures within the Kansas territory. Violence soon erupted, with the anti slavery forces
led by John Brown. The territory earned the nickname bleeding Kansas as the death toll rose. The
book American History by Brinkley shows the populous just how effective the Kansas Nebraska Act
really was. This compromise put in place a new, second territory (Kansas) because congress thought
that Kansas was more likely to become a slave state; as usual congress was wrong, Kansas had voted
to become a free state and because of popular sovereignty they were able to do this; however, they
held the election again this time allowing Missourians to vote as well, and they did in fact become a

transcontinental railroad route that would benefit his Illinois constituents, introduced a bill to organize
the territory of Nebraska in order to bring the area under civil control. But southern senators objected;
the region lay north of latitude 36°30′ and so under the terms of the Missouri Compromise of 1820
would become a free state. To gain the southerners support, Douglas proposed creating two territories
in the area Kansas and Nebraska and repealing the Missouri Compromise line. The question of

Queen Victoria s Morality During The Victorian Era
Morality can be described as the conformity to the rules of right conduct. During the Victorian Era,
England s morals were based upon principles, including the practice of celibacy, zero crime tolerance,
and a strict conduct. Before the Victorian Era, its previous leaders and their debaucheries influenced
England s public. However, when Queen Victoria came into ruling she raised their moral codes and no
longer accepted England s vulgarity and debauchery. In many instances the Victorian Era is said to
have reflected Queen Victoria through its moral responsibility. Social etiquette was very important

Flq Manifesto
The FLQ manifesto is a political manifesto that sought to promote Quebecoi independence and the
rejection of Liberal party policy, which focused primarily on big business and private investment.
Released in what was one of Canada s most politically turbulent period, the document provides key
insights into the FLQ organization demands and to the broader discussion taking place in Quebec
society. The document was produced by the front de liberation du Quebec, a left wing organization
that advocated for separatist policies beginning in the early 1960 s. Politically energized in the inner
city college campuses, the organization resorted to public bombings designed not to hurt but to instill
fear into society. They pushed a narrative of Francophile ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The document alleges that the Liberal victory clearly demonstrates that what we call democracy in
Quebec has always been, and still is, a democracy of the rich . Many Francophones viewed the victory
of the Liberal party as the workings of an entrenched elite, which isolated the majority French
speaking population. The manifestos reference to the most recent election, only a year prior to the
events of the October Crisis provide insights into the broader populations feeling at this time.
Disenfranchised, exploited, and a feeling that federal government is skewing the political reality of the

Benitoite Research Paper
Benitoite is a very unique mineral that has a beautiful appearance. It is classified as metamorphic rock
which means it had to go under the metamorphic process to get into the form its in. Since this is rare
mineral there are not very many places on earth where Benitoite is found. As of right now, California
is the only place where it is found. It is the state gem of California because I believe its rarity is a
special symbol to the state. In order to find this gem, a person would have to go to the Benitoite Gem
Mine, in San Benito County, California. The main use for this mineral is for jewelry because of its
shiny blue and violet appearance. Although Benitoite is a valuable and exquisite gemstone, its
hardness as a gemstone is relatively ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
BaTiSi3O9 is the chemical make up for Benitoite as shown in the picture on the first page. This means
it is made up of Barium, Titanium, and Silicon within its property. This is a relatively new mineral
found in the world. Benitoite is sometimes called the blue diamond. In the early 20th century is was
first found in a California river known as the Benito River. The people that discovered it thought it
was a sapphire or a diamond. Just looking a Benitoite gemstone, it would be easy to get them
confused. Earth has many kinds of rocks and minerals but this gemstone is the rarest of the rare.
George D. Louderback is credited for classifying Benitoite as a brand new mineral. He was heavily
into mineralogy where he actually taught classes at the University of California and later the
University of Nevada. A native to California, he was born in San Francisco and achieved a Ph.D from
the University of California in Berkley. The largest accumulation of Benitoite ever found was 15
carrots. James Couch the first person believed of discovering the beautiful new mineral in 1906. After
bringing it in to George D. Louderback, It was in fact considered a new mineral. The way they found
it was very incredible. Mr. Couch found it in a river bed with its white mother rock known as
Natrolite. This is very

Similarities And Differences When Comparing Trucks
There are many different styles of vehicles, such as vans, SUVs, cars, and trucks. My favorite vehicle
type is a truck. Trucks and cars have some similarities and differences. The three main categories
when comparing cars and trucks are off road use, passenger capacity, and gas mileage. Firstly,
engineers build trucks for highway and off road use. A truck can go where a car cannot. Trucks have
more clearance, meaning they can run over trees, dirt, mud, etc. without the bottom scraping the
ground. Cars do not have much clearance for off road. Secondly, one of the similarities are the number
of passengers you can carry. There are two door trucks and cars. Then there are four door trucks and
cars. It all depends on what you want and what you

Heathcliff Injustice
The theme that will take the limelight in this paper will the concepts of injustice and justice,
concentrating around the character of Heathcliff. This interesting individual is quite unique, coming
into this tale, or reintroduced by Nelly as a young dark skinned lad from the streets. As soon as he
comes to his new stay at Wuthering Heights, he is faced with a certain type of injustice from the blood
son of Heathcliff s adoptive father, Hindley. Taking a dislike to Heathcliff and treats him so. This is
the first form of injustice, bringing him into a hard shell of sorts that makes him blunt against his
adoptive sibling s lashes at him. Here we see him slowly gather the emotions that will cause him to
seek out justice against his abuser in a large mastermind plot against him and many others as time
goes by, The term justice here is unique to Heathcliff, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They would treat him as someone who is in no way associated with him due to his skin color and
heritage, treating him as a servant and mock him. These people would be another rich noble child at
the time and he great a brewing hate for them. Catherine, his adoptive sister, was his only friend who
took a liking to each other due to similar personalities. We can see here that he develops his own view
of justice bent on his own emotions, but then moreover, isn t that any other individual? Staring at his
search for his justice after he loses his only ally and friend, Catherine, to the Lintons where she
attaches herself to their children. Feeling as if the only person who understood him had left him and
joined the very enemies he faced. Feeling betrayed when she came back from that period of time with
the Lintons as a changed woman who was more mannered and not as tom boyish as she used to be. At
this point, his brewing anger and newfound embarrassment as Catherine noted him as a dirty lad went
past the point of no return as he set off to disappear for a

The World s Largest Population
From the 3.68 billion people that will be added to the world population between 1995 and 2050, Asia
will contribute some 2 billion. This enormous increase is due to the already massive size of the
population. Most of this growth will occur in the next three decades. Between 1995 and 2025 Asia s
population will grow by 1.35 billion between 2025 and 2050 the increase is projected to be just 658
million. China is the world s largest population, estimated to be around 1.24 billion in 1998. It grows
at a rate of 1.3% per year or 44,100 people a day. There are now more people living in China than
whole world 150 years ago. The population broke the billion mark in the 1982 census, the results of
which provided the justification for the strict one child policy which effectively curbed rapid
population growth. In the 1990 census, China counted 1.133 billion people, over the next decades the
world population will inevitably age. This is an unavoidable consequence of large birth cohorts during
the 1950s and 1960s and the rapid fertility decline since the 1970s. In 2025 the baby boomers of the
1950s and 60s will be between 65 and 75 years of age. These large aging cohorts are followed by the
relatively small baby bust generations of the worldwide fertility decline. In 1950 there were only 131
million people of age 65 and older; in 1995 their number had almost tripled and was estimated at 371
million. Between now and 2025 the number will more than double again; and by 2050 we

  • 3. The Purpose of the Labor Relations Act Over the last seventy five years labor related issues has went through a dramatic changed that affects today labor movement. During the 1930 s the labor movement gained due to the abundance of labor, employers easily replaced workers. Labor unions were established in order for workers to get organized and bargain for their needs and rights. These unions were created because it was known that groups have more power in bargaining than individuals. When large groups of employees make joint decisions, employers are forced to listen to their concerns. For example, if all the workers in a factory stopped working at the same time, it would be difficult to keep the company operating. Early unions in North America faced a difficult battle. Employers refused to accept the unions. The courts often declared the unions illegal. The National Labor Relations Act of 1935 and other laws required employers to bargain with unions. Political parties and other groups have also become involved with the labor movement (Labor Movement). Understanding the legal ramifications involved both with and without a union is a necessity for all human resource professionals. I will address the differences and similarities in employee relations approaches in both types of environments. In addition reviewing key aspects of labor relations law and the collective bargaining process, I will address the purpose of the Labor Relations Act and what it provides for workers. Berlin itself was also divided into similar territories which caused a huge economic, political and social strain on its people. • 5. Foreign Exchange Rates And Hedging Options Foreign Exchange Rates and Hedging Options There are three hedging options that are commonly used. Hedge is to reduce losses due to volatility of foreign exchange rates. Hedging instruments use options and futures which are derivative instruments. One type of hedging is using a forward contract. This method is to lock in a FX position that would provide stability and not succumb to the fluctuations of FX rates. By locking in an FX rate, it gives the company the right to the currency exchange rate specified for a future time. This means that if FX is to adverse or benefit of FX will be minimized for the future. Another technique to minimize FX risk is to purchase options. The purchaser of an option sets an exchange rate at a future date that the purchaser may exchange at. If the FX is beneficial, the purchaser may execute reaping the gains, however if the FX is unfavorable, the purchaser will not exercise. A third instrument is to hedge using currency exchange traded fund (ETF). Purchasing currency ETFs on the stock market allows the purchaser to either buy or short sell the stock to mitigate FX risk. As the ETF is correlated to the fluctuations of FX, if rates are favorable the stock price will appreciate, whereas rates are unfavorable the stock price will depreciate. To improve internal controls in reconciliation, GWL should provide proper foreign exchange training to existing staff. In the story, Sontag structures the essay base on many historical events and other religious ideas to support her idea, how a woman sometime is only judge by her appearance. Specifically, Sontag uses three ideas in the story to support her argument. First is in history what the Greeks believe in a woman s beauty. Second, Sontag discuss about how the Christian religion plays a major role in shaping how a woman is judge only base on her beauty. In the end, Sontag talks about in today s society how woman are still judge by her beauty. However, in the end Sontag mentions how the society should stop judging a woman only base on her beauty. Base on what Sontag describes, the Greeks believe if a woman is beautiful in the outside, she must be really beautiful in the inside as well, in this quote If it did occur to the Greeks to distinguish between a person s inside and outside, they still expected that inner beauty would be matched by beauty of the other kind. The moment of Mr. Darcy s proposal and the letter he gives Elizabeth immediately afterwards, to Elizabeth s unexpected visit to Pemberley, Austen makes us question how one changes their opinion as quickly as Elizabeth does about Darcy. The fiery anger that comes out of the Darcy proposal is contrasted to the mild disagreement between Elizabeth and Collins. The language Elizabeth used in both cases show how differently she takes the proposals. With Darcy, she holds the resentment he has towards the behavior of her family as well as their class differences as a large problem for their potential marriage. This is not the problem between Elizabeth and Collins. Both Collins and Darcy provide Elizabeth with wealth that would make her comfortable in a practical way (even though one is clearly better than the other in this manner). But the argument for Elizabeth against Mr. Collins is her heart. She doesn t respect Collins in the way that she respects Darcy. If she had a respect for Collins she would feel more gratitude for his proposal but the way the conversation unfolds reveals Elizabeth s problem. The role of third party in conflict management is directed towards the actors in conflict to realize their own interests when various problems threaten or disrupt their own bargaining relationship (Young 1967). Third parties are useful in the process of conflict resolution, especially in work aversion employees where a thorough study about the background of both employees and organization is needed. • 24. America s Financial System For The Housing Market I. Introduction In 2008 America s financial system was brought to a stand still as decades of negligence and financial decisions caused our economy to sink into the worst recession since the great depression. Cultivating a problem worse than America has seen in roughly a century points one finger not at a particular cause, but a string of events that finally gave way. Now, eight years later our economy is still recovering, and time has allowed us to look back at decades of mistakes to try and connect the dots of the perfect storm that collapsed our financial market in 2008. In 2009 Brookings Institution, one of Washington s oldest think tanks, concluded there were three causes that resulted in the crisis. Economists Martin Baily and Douglas Elliot stated that the results of government intervention in the housing market, the influences Wall Street had on Washington, and global economic forces were the three main causes of the economic collapse. They believed that a housing bubble inflated when Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, two government sponsored enterprises, intervened in the housing market. The banking industry was called out to be blamed for years of manipulation of our political and financial systems. Lastly, Baily and Elliot cite the global economy and the existence of a credit boom throughout European and Asian nations. Low inflation and consistent growth throughout the world economy spiked investors interest in acquiring riskier investments, which encouraged ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 28. Boston Tea Party Essay Boston Tea Party Historical Society As a little girl, I believed that The Boston Tea Party was just that, a tea party. But it was not just any tea party that I had envisioned; it was the most decedent tea party to ever grace the earth. It had everything, from hand painted china to crisp white table clothes. There were over a hundred varieties of tea, each one having been imported from a different location. China, France, Italy, England, you name it. The women that attended this tea party were well above average; they were wealthy, upper class ladies who were perfectly poised. Each one arrived to the tea in a carriage fit for a princess and pulled by a beautifully well kept horse. All the women wore brand new ball gowns and white satin gloved. The whole event was a complete fairy tale that would never be forgotten. After growing up a little more and actually learning about The Boston Tea Party in school, my perspective had completely changed. I no longer viewed it as a fancy party, but instead, as an event that greatly impacted American history. Back in the year 1773, the East India Company was experiencing some major financial issues and because they played such a large role in Britain s economy, England immediately wanted to help resolve the issue. Executive Summary The dissertation project addresses the problem of trying to build a stock trading system based on prediction models obtained with daily stock quotes data. We will apply different models to predict the returns of IBM stocks at the New York Stock Exchange. These predictions will be used together with a trading rule that will generate buy and sell signals. This chapter addresses several new data mining issues: (1) how to use R to analyze data stored in a database; (2) how to handle prediction problems where there is a time ordering among training cases (usually known as a time series); (3) and the consequences of wanting to translate model predictions into actions. 3.1 Problem description and objectives Stock market trading is an application domain with a big potential for data mining. In effect, the existence of an enormous amount of historical data suggests that data mining can provide a competitive advantage over human inspection of this data. On the other hand there are authors claiming that the markets adapt so rapidly in terms of price adjustments that there is no space to obtain profits in a consistent way. This is usually known as the efficient markets hypothesis. This theory has been successively replaced by more relaxed versions that leave some space for trading opportunities. Profitability is the primary focus of distributors so they should choose manufacturers that have a strong market brand, supply the appropriate products to meet the market s demands, and offers a technical sales team. Mesopotamia was located in the Fertile Crescent in modern day Iraq, surrounded on both sides by the Tigris and Euphrates rivers which were its source of life. Both rivers flooded irregularly, and the black silt deposited by the flooding made the land extremely suitable for farming. Aside from the two rivers, Mesopotamia did not have any other natural barriers like mountains or deserts to protect itself from invaders. Ancient Egypt, another civilization that flourished about the same time, was centered around the Nile River Valley and Delta. The area next to the river was lush and well watered due to predictable flooding. Most of the people during this era lived close to the river and centered their life around it. The other parts of Egypt were the Sinai Peninsula, which connected to the Arabian Peninsula; the Western Desert, which was part of the greater Libyan Desert; and the Eastern Desert, which was part of the Arabian Desert. These deserts made the Nile region less accessible to other civilizations than Mesopotamia. The similarities and differences in the geographical nature of Mesopotamia and Egypt influenced the political, economic and religious aspects of the ancient civilizations that flourished there. The anti slavery settlers held another election, however pro slavery settlers refused to vote. This resulted in the establishment of two opposing legislatures within the Kansas territory. The book American History by Brinkley shows the populous just how effective the Kansas Nebraska Act really was. This compromise put in place a new, second territory (Kansas) because congress thought that Kansas was more likely to become a slave state; as usual congress was wrong, Kansas had voted to become a free state and because of popular sovereignty they were able to do this; however, they held the election again this time allowing Missourians to vote as well, and they did in fact become a slave state. Trucks and cars have some similarities and differences. The three main categories when comparing cars and trucks are off road use, passenger capacity, and gas mileage. Firstly, engineers build trucks for highway and off road use. A truck can go where a car cannot. Trucks have more clearance, meaning they can run over trees, dirt, mud, etc. without the bottom scraping the ground. Cars do not have much clearance for off road. Secondly, one of the similarities are the number of passengers you can carry. There are two door trucks and cars. Then there are four door trucks and cars. This enormous increase is due to the already massive size of the population. Most of this growth will occur in the next three decades. Between 1995 and 2025 Asia s population will grow by 1.35 billion between 2025 and 2050 the increase is projected to be just 658 million. This is an unavoidable consequence of large birth cohorts during the 1950s and 1960s and the rapid fertility decline since the 1970s. In 2025 the baby boomers of the 1950s and 60s will be between 65 and 75 years of age. These large aging cohorts are followed by the relatively small baby bust generations of the worldwide fertility decline. In 1950 there were only 131 million people of age 65 and older; in 1995 their number had almost tripled and was estimated at 371 million.
