Compare And Contrast The Political Culture Of Texas
When looking at the diversity of Texas, it is hard to say that any one political culture would cover the
entire state. As large of a state as it is, a particular label would not suit everyone in the state, and
maybe even internally contradictory. Texas is home to a large, diverse population, literally, millions of
people in the second largest state within the United States of America. Among these people there is a
broad spectrum of races, ethnic backgrounds, economic interests and opinions. Some of these
differences are based upon need and economic status, but other differences are varied by the region of
the state. However, Texas political culture can easily be described using a few different philosophies;
populism, liberalism, and conservatism. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Populists are mainly concerned with and focused on ordinary people. Populists believe that majority
rules and that the will of the people is the chief virtue of a political position. Populism also can be
considered conservative in some ways depending upon the circumstance. Populists are not really
liberal or conservative, but a group of their own, who have fought for things like subsidies for farmers,
lower taxes for middle and upper class and any other cause that the group sees fit to fight for. At times,
populism even serves as a vehicle to defuse (or ignore) the tensions between the influence of classical
liberalism on one hand and social conservatism on the other (laits, N.D..) . Populists generally fight to
promote the rights and worthiness of ordinary

The Descent into a Digital Culture
The Descent into a Digital Culture In this century our culture is changing rapidly. Just in the last 30
years alone our scientific understanding, technological achievements, and fragmentation of values has
transformed faster than in the previous 100 years alone. With our express style culture change, one has
to wonder what will be said about our culture another hundred years in the future. What is the one
thing that has defined us as who we are? A section on our slow ascent into socialism may be in order,
or maybe a chapter on our obsession with going green. However, I would suggest that the first chapter
in a humanities book of 2113 on our culture title The Descent into a Digital Culture .
Our culture is most defined by the digital ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This has led to a culture in which one does not wait for something, but expects to receive whatever
they desire instantly. This did not just translate into knowledge or things we needed. The average
person in the U.S today no longer waits to save up the needed funds to buy a new flat screen or other
new widget. Instead they finance it or put it on credit. Like their digital life on the internet they expect
it instantly. Our Descent into a Digital Culture of instant gratification has become part of who we are.
How can our digital culture be explained without our sudden need to cease communication with
others. That is unless it involves a smartphone or a twitter page. The previous generations of the
United States use to socialize at social events and would even go out and visit people that they wanted
to talk to. Sometimes they would actually put their thoughts down a piece of dried would pulp and
mail it. The digital culture that ours has become carries out these tasks in a rather different fashion. In
modern times social events can be defined as a group chat on Facebook. As far as visiting other human
beings, who needs to when there is twitter. Writing letters has become a very archaic form of
communication replaced by email. In our present culture most believe that the entire social stimulus
that one requires can be found on Facebook or Snap chat. This new found lack of human contact,
caused by the digital culture, has caused

The Argument Of Creation Vs. Evolution
The argument of Creation vs. Evolution has been debated for quite sometime. Since Darwin s theory
of Evolution by Natural Selection was published, some of those that thought the world and its
inhabitants was made by a creator now began to think differently. Evolution began to make sense,
there was evidence of certain types of species evolving (as in the finches in the galapogos islands as
observed by Darwin) however, with creationism there was no evidence, it was all based on faith.
Although Darwin s theory stands at the forefront for the belief in Evolution especially for those that
tend to lean towards this side of the argument, there have been and still is many who support the
argument of Design or what is referred to as the teleological argument. Philosophers such as St.
Thomas Aquinas and William Paley wrote about the belief in there being a creator in their famous
works. David Hume, William Derham and Richard Bentley to name a few also wrote about intelligent
design. I believe in Creationism. I believe that the universe and everything in it came into existence
because of a higher intelligence and not solely from a primordial soup and if in fact everything did
start out as a soup, all the ingredients for this soup was put together by the head chef. In researching
this topic, I believe that creationism and evolution (micro evolution) can co exist without one
absolutely refuting the other. I believe this designer created existence in such a way that evolution is

A Closer Look At The Regulatory Structure
A Closer Look at the Regulatory Structure in Australia:
Understanding APRA, ASIC and RBA
Doria Teo
Introduction
The current regulatory framework for the Australian finance sector largely owes its conception to the
Financial System Inquiry ( the Wallis Inquiry ). The Wallis Inquiry had recommended the
establishment of the twin peaks model, under which three specialist financial sector regulatory
agencies operate. It was also recommended that these three regulatory agencies be based on the
functions they performed rather than their traditional status. The government eventually adopted these
recommendations and the three key regulators known today are the Australian Prudential Regulation
Authority ( APRA ), the Australian Securities and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As highlighted in the Wallis Inquiry, the proposed structure could better facilitate a more flexible
response in the face of market developments and changing circumstances. Furthermore, overlaps,
duplication and inconsistencies could be minimised.
The Wallis Inquiry also pointed out the difficulties with having a single regulator, particularly the
difficulty of requiring a single agency to adopt different regulatory styles. For example, under the old
institutional based regulatory structure, a single regulator was required to both prudential regulation
and consumer protection regulation. These were very different types of regulation. Following the
Wallis Inquiry, it was recommended that prudential regulation would be under the purview of APRA
while consumer protection regulation be the responsibility of ASIC.
Another difficulty was that a single regulator could only provide a very limited perspective on certain
regulatory issues. As raised by the Wallis Inquiry, the argument against assigning prudential regulatory
responsibility to the RBA was that there are non bank areas of prudential regulation involved.
Assigning prudential regulatory responsibility to the RBA would thus run the risk that it would
approach regulation from a limited banking perspective.
Additionally, a single regulator could have conflicting responsibilities. The Wallis Inquiry

Cultural Culture In Germany
Germany is a highly diverse country filled with historic sites and a variety of countryside.
The country is full of all walks of life from the North Sea to the Swiss Alps in the south. The
language spoken there is Deutsch but just like anywhere else depending upon where you are can
determine the different types of dialect you might hear. For instance, in the Northern part of
Germany, you might hear a more Danish dialect and in the South, you might find a lot more
Swedish speaking individuals. The German country is rich in history and has contributed to
Europe in a plethora of ways it s almost unprecedented, and their influence is still felt throughout
Europe and the rest of the world today. To say that there is one single German culture wouldn t
be doing the country any justice. Germany is arguably one of the most culturally diverse nations
in all of Europe. This is largely due in part of the almost central location of Germany in Europe,
and the amount of federally funded programs that are available there. Germany gets its
reputation as one of the major cultural nations due to major influences in the country throughout
the eras from famous music composers to literary geniuses. Cultural awareness is arguably one
of the most important assets as a military we must have that is why I feel the need to cover the
main aspects of Germany in which their culture is influenced and derived from on a day to day
basis of their lives.

The Paper Quality And Weight
The way in which I have decided to break down this paper is that I will dedicate roughly a page to
each literary journal, starting with the oldest and working my way through to the most recent. It is my
intention to break down each book into sections:
The Physical Aesthetic paying particular attention to the physical attributes that make up the magazine
i.e. the cover, the font, the leading, the paper quality and weight, the use of space and layout. This
should be at first analyzed void of content in order to have a clear and concise image in my mind, and
in this essay as to what stands out and detracts from the physicality of the piece.
Content In this section I will examine what the overall content of the magazine says about it as a ...

The only time san serif font appears in the magazine is on the exterior covers, it brings up a question
of consistency, it becomes visually jarring to go from san serif to serif throughout. Even if they had
just chosen to make the embolden headers a san serif it would have brought th exterior throughout the
interior and the magazine as a whole would look uniform. The change in paper quality for the section
of art submissions is jarring, particularly because the glossed pages are so white versus the eggshell
color of the rest of the book. Page 22 is a complete waste of space.
Content
Starting with the history of Grub Street street section, the font is distracting and needlessly decorative.
The Staff section looks like a jumble. I have some problem with the table of contents just because it
doesn t describe the actual way the magazine unfolds but since it s broken down by genre, its
acceptable. Now onto the other content. The first freaking piece, the first one, the piece that sets the
pace and tone for the entire book, or at least it should. This is the piece they chose, The Main Line. I
immediately wonder about the credibility of the writer. It sets a bad taste in my mouth and admittedly
colors my opinion for the rest of the book. The wide range and I use the term wide loosely gives off
the feeling that this was possibly the only submissions

Native Son Character Analysis
The late author Richard Wright s novel The Native Son takes place in the oppressed time frame of the
1930s in Chicago, Illinois. The protagonist, Bigger Thomas, a twenty year old black man from
Chicago s South Side lives with his mother and younger siblings Buddy and Vera Thomas in a small
apartment.
From the jump, we are faced with Bigger s conflict of man vs. society by hating his family and living
condition ...Because he knew they were suffering and he was powerless to help them. He goes on to
reveal how he and his friend group make a living through robbing other African Americans. At one
point Bigger gets into a deliberate fight with Gus, a member of his gang, and disrupts the plan that was
supposed to take place to rob a store who belongs to a white man named Blum. This is where the
reader is introduced to Bigger s conflict of man vs. race. Moreover the white race. Bigger goes as far
as to play Gus for the weak link calling Gus out in front of the gang for the concerns and doubts they
all secretly had. Bigger says on multiple occasions he is not afraid of a white man. Bigger and Gus
even initially mock white people in the introduction humorously. As if mockery was a way to prove
they weren t intimidated. But thanks to the third person point of view, we understand they are all too
afraid to actually stick to the plan of burglarizing Blum s store. None of them however publically
recognizes or admits that he, himself is afraid because Blum is white.

Limitations Of Rapid Diagnostics
Timely administration of appropriate antibiotics is essential for decreasing hospital mortality in
patients with sepsis12. Kumar et al. demonstrated that with each hour delay, there is a 7.6% decrease
in survival. Moreover, delaying appropriate antibiotics can increase healthcare costs, length of stay
and antimicrobial resistance13, 14. Traditional methods of microbial identification have time
concerns. Most laboratories take 48 72 hours to determine microorganisms susceptibility testing10,

The later study overcame some of the limitations of the previous study and included only patients with
antibiotic resistance gram negative bacteremia with sufficient sample size. Selecting the most
appropriate and cost effective rapid diagnostic testing is somehow challenging given the wide range of
commercially available diagnostic tools. Some of these tools require labor intensive clinical
laboratories work with high complexity10. For gram negative bacteremia, two tools have potential
clinical benefits, Verigene gram negative blood culture (BC GN) and FilmArray blood culture
identification (BCID) given their ability to detect resistance patterns in certain microorganisms and
have a short turnaround time after a positive blood culture. A study by MacVane S et al. examined the
usefulness of antimicrobial stewardship programs (ASP) coupled with BCID versus conventional
organism identification coupled with ASP or conventional organism identification (controls) alone20.

Argumentative Essay On Dna Databanks
DNA databanks are a highly debated subject in the United States. A DNA databank is a database
containing DNA profiles. These profiles can be used to track genealogy, genetic diseases, and criminal
history. There are several different types of DNA databanks. Forensic DNA databases keep profiles to
compare with DNA samples found at crime scenes. Genetic genealogy databases keep results from
genealogical DNA tests. Medical DNA databases keep track of genetic variations for medical
purposes. These databases, however, are very controversial and many fear its expansion, particularly
that of the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS), the United States national DNA database

American Hegemony And The Failure Of Nato s Liberal...

American Hegemony and the Failure of NATO s Liberal Institutionalism Liberal institutionalism
provides policymakers with a vision of an idyllic world that is useful for communicating, with heavy
rhetorical flavor, lofty promises to both a domestic and international audience. Theoretically and
empirically, however, the theory fails to stand up against the necessary scrutiny. First, liberal
institutionalism has failed to present itself as a successful challenge to realism, which remains a more
compelling paradigm in the study of international relations. Two of the major faults of this theory
involve its refusal to recognize the basic balance of power interests at play as well as its lack of focus
on explaining how international institutions can prevent the domination of one power. The North
Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) provides a useful lens for examining the issues with
institutionalism, as it demonstrates that international institutions are, in fact, a reflection of realist
tenets. More specifically, the United States determination to maintain its European hegemony through
NATO offers several compelling reasons to criticize institutionalist theory. The country s roles in
NATO in the 1990s revealed the extent to which liberalism has failed as a major paradigm of
international relations. While international institutions at times may seem to foster cooperation among
states, NATO

The Passions Of The Man
The Passions of the Man We exist in an artificial world created from our passions. Uncontrollable as
they may seem, our natural inclinations and mental faculties have actually effected immense social
change on both a physical and mental level. As oxymoronic as it may seem, it is ultimately our innate
passions that both drive conflict and allow for cooperative endeavor, and Thomas Hobbes s masterful
17th century work Leviathan captures this point beautifully. His passions are a kind of internal motion
related to one s will and encompass character traits, moods, or ephemeral states of being such as
sudden glory causing laughter. Hobbes uses the idea of passions as a motivating source to flush out a
future directed approach to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately, we live in the natural world. Far from perfect. Our passions do not even come close to
fitting us in the perfect world. In fact, they prevent its existence. The nature of man then is one of
passions and thusly, one of war. According to Hobbes, the nature of war consisteth not in actual
fighting, but in the known disposition thereto during all the time there is no assurance to the contrary.
(13) War is not a state of fighting, it is a state of being; specifically a state of being in which safety and
protection of one s life or happiness are close to non existent. Coupled with the very real ideas of
exhaustible resources and the will to survive, this war or natural world is then populated by beasts
unreasoned beings dominated by their psyches and unable to coexist in a society. Hobbes concluded
that in the nature of man, we find three principal causes of quarrel. First, competition; secondly,
diffidence; thirdly, glory. () These three passions are at once dangerous to the natural world, but
necessary for the artificial world to exist. The competition to which Hobbes speaks is a competition
for power. In his observations, it is the powerful that are happy and can assure their continued felicity.
Thus, competition begets violence. Diffidence implies the defense of oneself and your well being in
fear of it being stripped of you. Diffidence seems to beget violence as well. And glory begets the most
violence. The thirst for power becomes too

The Stereotypes Of Disney PrincessesBamboozling Young Girls
Disney Princesses Bamboozling Young Girls Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and Ariel are
all names almost every young female can recall. These are just a few of Disney s most memorable
characters, the Disney princesses which are idolized by young girls everywhere. These princesses are
portrayed to be strong willed, optimistic, and hardworking women who overcome various hardships
throughout their life. Talk about being the perfect role models for little girls everywhere but are they
really? Although they may seem to have admirable qualities, by the end of these Disney movies, each
princess receives their happy ending with their prince charming at their side. This concludes that
happiness is obtained only by finding your prince charming . A princess happily ever after , that is
repeated in these iconic Disney movies, distorts what true happiness is and could be for girls around
the world. This perceived reality promoted by Disney then becomes engraved in our young girls
minds through ways that are much like propaganda in the political arena. Propaganda is a form of
language commonly used to manipulate intended audiences. In Disney s case, their intended audience
consists of young girls around the world. These Disney films display methods of propaganda, such as
doublespeak (Lutz) and the two extremes fallacy (Cross), which result in our young girls believing in
a false reality. There needs to be attention brought about this flawed perception of a sole happiness
that is continuously depicted by Disney and shared through ways of propaganda, as it is damaging the
minds of our young girls the future contributors of our society. Propaganda can be displayed in many
ways as it, ...is simply a means of persuasion... (Cross 247). You can persuade someone by giving
them few options, sugar coating the truth, lying, or even by misleading them. Doublespeak is an art of
language that is used to manipulate, therefore making it a notable example of a way propaganda may
be portrayed. William Lutz describes doublespeak in his article, The World of Doublespeak , as the
product of clear thinking and is carefully designed and constructed to appear to communicate but in
fact to mislead. This art of persuasion

Learning Principles Classical Conditioning And...
Reading skills are essential to learning all other subjects taught in school. The sharper the reading
skills children have and the earlier they accumulate them will determine how rapidly and how well
they will achieve in school. That is why it is very crucial to get students motivated to read at a young
age. Research has consistently shown that children who are exposed to reading or who read regularly
gather long term benefits such as better academic performance, a mastery of language, better
communication skills and more logical thinking, Nevertheless many parents struggle with generating
ideas to encourage or motivate their children to read. There are three learning principles that can be
used to help parents help their children get motivated to read. Those learning principles are Classical
Conditioning, Operant Conditioning and Observational Learning.
Classical conditioning is the association of two stimuli and thus we learn to anticipate events.
Classical conditioning is a learning procedure that involve reflexes. Reflexes consist of the following:
Unconditioned Stimulus (US) a stimulus that evokes an unconditioned response without any prior
conditioning. Unconditioned Response (UR) an unlearned response to an unconditioned stimulus that
occurs without prior conditioning. Neutral Stimulus(NS) which is a stimulus that produces no specific
response. Conditioned Stimulus (CS) is the neutral stimulus after it has acquired the ability, through
conditioning, to elicit a

Bosnian Genocide And Holocaust Similarities
Genocide is one of the worst inventions man has made. More formally known as massacres before the
early 1900s(Cooke welling 69), they have always been very harmful to an ethnicity or religions
growth. The word itself originates from latin roots. The words whole and burned in latin morph to
make the word holocaust A few of the worst ones in history have happened in just the past century.
One that is very familiar is The Holocaust. It was the genocide of the Jewish faith during World War II

Many examples in history show multiple times where people have banded together to fight for the
common good, but they might always notice how bad it actually in. This is what happened in the
Bosnian genocide with the world. Nobody actually reacted until the news was spread worldwide that
Serbs killed 8,000 males in Srebrenica( Genocide and 34). This is when the rest of the world,
especially developed countries, saw the need to help these innocent people in Bosnia. The United
Nations tried to help the Bosniaks and Croats who were in severe need of a rescue but only sent 400
soldiers. The city of Srebrenica had so much violence in it that it was too spread out for the UN
soldiers to make an impact. This resulted in these soldiers getting criticized around the world for their
lack of contribution(36). This was not the case for the genocide of the Jews. The Jews were at the
height of media during the second World War. Hitler and his Nazi party made headlines week after

something so disastrous could actually happen.Mass killings were constantly made at every camp.

Essay On Spina Bifida
In Canada, a clinical study by De Wals et al was performed to assess whether or not folic acid
fortification has an effect on the recurrence of NTDs (neural tube defects), especially on upper and
lower birth defects called spina bifida (De Wals et al., 2008). The study was performed in three
different regions in Canada: the eastern, western and central provinces (De Wals et al., 2008).
Furthermore, the population of the study was conducted on three different types of births which were
livebirths, stillbirths, and termination of pregnancies, and the study was carried out through three
periods included prefortification, partial fortification and full fortifications (De Wals et al., 2008). The
researchers followed the scientific investigation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The researchers depended on birth defects statistics which can be found in medical record to support
their results about the effect of folic acid fortification on NTDs (Chen et al., 2008). This data showed
that although there was a declining in NTDs prevalence in prefortification, the NTDs prevalence did
not continue to decline in postfortifcation (Chen et al., 2008). Hence, this study s results conflict with
the results of De Wals et al s study which claimed that folic acid fortification decreases the NTDs
prevalence after the full fortification period (De Wals et al., 2008). Another study was conducted in
Chile by Cortes et al, and this study s aim was similar to De Wals et al s aim which was whether there
is an impact of folic acid fortification on NTDs prevalence or not (Cortes et al., 2012). The researchers
held an observation program in a specific hospital to detect the rate of occurrence of NTDs in
stillbirths and livebirths (Cortes et al., 2012). The researchers showed that total NTDs prevalence
decreased from prefortification period to postfortification period, and the reduction of spina bifida was
about 52% in postfortification (Cortes et al., 2012). Therefore, this study is one of the studies that

The Remarkable British Empire
Over a number of centuries, The British Empire colonized or invaded all but 22 countries in the world.
This is an astonishing feat that would make ancient empire leaders such as Remesses II or Genghis
Khan bow down to the power of the British. Since the Middle Ages, The Royal Class in England
desired a wide variety of exotic spices. The merchants were under so much pressure to try to satisfy
the high demand, that they resorted to committing criminal acts such as piracy in order to fulfill the
demand of the royal class.
In order to truly understand the roots and culture of the British Empire one must imagine themselves
in 400 BC and as a member of one of the countless Celtic tribes that existed in Britain. The land
beneath your feet is some of the most diverse soil in all of Europe and the landscape is full of trees and
grassy plains. In the book British Food by Colin Spencer, Great Britain s very fertile and rich soil
allowed the possibility for grass to grow year round allowing livestock to graze green pastures, even in
the winter time. Great Britain s soil allowed grains such as barley, rye, and wheat to grow in
abundance. The Celts would use these grains to produce bread which became the staple of many
Celtic and then, Anglo Saxon diets (14).
The Celtic people were very fond of seasoning their foods with local ingredients such as onions,
garlic, shallots and parsley which grew plentifully in their fertile soil. The idea of seasoning meals
with local ingredients

The Cycles of International Conflict
Wars have been waged for decades creating the world we live in today. Charles Tilly observed, the
state made war and war made the state (qtd in Sernau, 2009, 147). However, these battles have been
destructive and bloody resulting in the deaths of countless individuals. These grave consequences lead
us to ask the ever problematic question, what could possibly motivate a state to engage in warfare?
Fundamentally, some believe war is linked to a conflict of political and economic interests rooted in
power struggles ranging from territorial and humanitarian to ideological and ethnic while others argue
that war has become ingrained in our societies and economies resulting in this tenacious cycle of
confrontation. Territories are the bases ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of these countries include Korea, Vietnam and Cuba (Kent, 2006). An additional factor of
international conflict has to deal with ethnic and cultural disputes. Goldstein and Pevehouse believe it
is the most one of the most important sources of conflicts in today s world (Goldstein and Pevehouse,
2009, 127). Samuel Huntington is a firm believer that international conflict is becoming closely linked
to ethnicity which he outlines in his clash of civilizations theory. Huntington divides the world into
eight major civilization outlined as Western, Confucian, Japanese, Islamic, Hindu, Slavic Orthodox,
Latin American and African (Huntington, 1993). He then goes on to add that As people define their
identity in ethnic and religious terms, they are likely to see an us versus them relation existing
between themselves and people of different ethnicity or religion which leads to the clashes of
civilizations (Huntington, 1993).
A big factor in ethnic conflict is often territorial and linked to self determination. As Goldstein and
Pevehouse point out, ethnic groups have strong aspirations and nationalist sentiments for statehood
(Goldstein and Pevehouse, 2009, 127). The Kurds are a relevant and current example of an ethnic
group seeking to establish a homeland, Kurdistan. However, they are

New Zealand As A Marketing Tool Essay
100% Pure New Zealand conjures images of green pasture, snow covered alpine peaks and clear, crisp
water. It implies the purity of an untouched, rugged land open for exploration and experience,
unaffected by the ills of modern life. Tourism New Zealand s slogan to describe New Zealand is a
marketing tool which presents a constructed representation to the rest of the world, with the purpose of
growing the tourism industry. This constructed representation is not unlike that which is found from
the late nineteenth century through the 1930s. Since the 1870s, New Zealand s tourism industry has
grown exponentially. The industry has relied on the 100% Pure New Zealand image long before the
slogan was introduced in 1999 (wonder country 284). The specific type of New Zealand of the early
twentieth century was not only constructed by visits from overseas tourists, but by New Zealanders
venturing abroad. The type of New Zealand that was constructed through to the 1930s was a country
of picturesque landscapes, untamed wilderness and a sense of newness, free from the ills of
industrialization found in the motherland. However, this New Zealand had to negotiate both rural and
urban identity as it ventured into the twentieth century.
To those in Britain, New Zealand was a world away in many ways other than distance. The portrayal
of the colony in the motherland was of as a working mans paradise with unlimited opportunity and
wilderness waiting to be tamed. It was quite the contrast

The National Safety And Quality Health Service
Demonstrate Reflection: Form, Present and Support Own Opinions
The National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standard 2 Partnering with Consumers
requires all health professionals to provide consumer centred care and to design the care in partnership
with the patient and the family (Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in health Care, 2012).
The NSQHS Standards (2012) identified patient and family centred care and engagement as one of the
national priorities. As such, in order to improve patients safety outcomes and reduce hospital acquired
conditions and readmissions and provide client centred services, the IPE recognized the need for
effective interprofessional teams to collaborate and engage patients and families by implementing IPE
core structures and processes (Brewer Jones, 2013). The Curtin University s ICF encompasses five
interprofessional capabilities: reflection, communication, team function, conflict resolution, and role
clarification (Brewer Jones, 2013, p. e47). The purpose of ICF is to guide and assist health care
students for collaborative practice to deliver safe and high quality care, and client centred care (Curtin
University, 2011). Therefore, health science students are expected to be competent in all skills and
meet the criteria outlined in Curtin University ICF.

Dynamical Systems Theory
In addition to using various information to provide augmented information about performance during
competition and practice, a significant task for sport performance analysts is to identify and measure
key performance variables that are statistically associated with successful sports performance
outcomes. This unfortunately promotes rudimentary understanding of sports performance and
provides little information about the underlying behaviors that produce these outcomes (McGarry,
2009). In recognition of this issue, the constraints based framework was outlined to serve as an
alternative process oriented approach to sports performance analysis (Glazier, 2010). To reiterate the
purpose of this literature review, the dynamical systems theory explains ... Show more content on

From this new perspective, variability of performance has been viewed as more functional, since a
consistent outcome can be achieved by a different patterns of joint relations owing to the dynamics of
the joint biomechanical degrees of freedom (DOF). A feature of a chaotic system, like that of a high
speed game in which ACL injuries occur, is that deterministic processes can drive fluctuations in
system and motor output that might seem random. Noise may have a positive role in preventing a
system from becoming too stable in complex environments so that functional movement solutions
may be found during exploratory behavior of athletes during that specific time prior to injury in an
effort to prevent injury. The fundamental problem for movement systems is the process of mastering
the redundant degrees of freedom. Degrees of freedom, coined by Nikolai Bernstein, refers to the
biomechanical DOF that exceed the minimum number required to successfully accomplish any given
motor task (Vereijken et al. 1992). In other words, they are the number of independent coordinates
required to uniquely describe the configuration of a system, providing flexibility and security in
adapting to changing environmental conditions. As our motor system develops, humans rigidly and

The Importance Of Respect In Society Today
We use it every day. Your parents tell you about it all the time. Most don t know exactly what it
means. Respect. To have respect is to hold oneself worthy of your admiration or approval. Society
cannot function without respect because it is the oil that keeps the gears turning. Respect is actively
listening, obeying orders, and being mindful, whether it s to others, the environment, the law, or
yourself.
In today s society, respect is decreasing. In schools, in the workplace, at home, and in public with
racism, sexism, religious intolerance, and more. Racism and police brutality have increased since
cases like of Trayvon Martin and Freddie Gray. People of color have not received the respect they
deserve and respect for policemen is decreasing. Sexism has increased since third wave feminists
surfaced and skewed people s image and respect for feminists. Religious intolerance increases as
terrorist attacks continue with people s misconceptions about Islam. An example of a group lacking
respect in society today is the youth. The youth isn t anywhere near as respectful to their parents,
teachers, or elders as they were before the nineteen hundreds. But to make the youth more respectful,
one must respect the youth. Jenni Herd wrote in response to Times s Moods and meltdowns: what s

Tregs Immune System
Healthy individuals have their immune system working properly to protect them from pathogens.
Leukocytes are a part of the immune system that circulate in the blood (white cells). Lymphocytes are
one subset of leukocytes that recognize and respond to their specific antigens (e.g. peptides from an
external agent). T cells are a group of lymphocytes that mature in the thymus. Under exposure to their
specific antigen, conventional T cells are activated, leading to secretion of growth cytokines
(predominantly interleukine 2, denoted IL 2), and expression of the interleukine 2 receptor which
triggers cytokine driven proliferation cite{deboer87,thornton98,BOP2006}. However, the immune

The asymmetry introduced in cite{PBFO2010ECMTB}, and studied in this paper, is modeled by
considering that the secreting T cells have a lower death rate than the non secreting T cells and that the
active Tregs also have a lower death rate than the inactive Tregs, thus mimicking the effect of the
memory T cells. Memory T cells last longer than the other T cells and react more promptly to their
specific antigen cite{Rogers2000}.

With this asymmetry, an increase in the antigenic stimulation of T cells results in an increase in the
population size of T cells caused both by the increase in cytokine secretion and by the decrease in the
average death rate of T cells, thereby improving the efficiency of the immune responses

Promoting Equality. Equality is about making our society somewhere that everyone has the
opportunity and the chance to reach their maximum potential throughout their life. Part of equality is
knowing everyone has a different level of ability and understanding, for example for one person in
society being able to walk to a supermarket independently and buy themselves a packet of crisps then
walk home again could be a huge achievement for them, giving them a strong sense of self believe as
well as a boost in their self

an achievement. Giving people the opportunity to do things that are possible for them to do with their
level of ability and making them feel empowered by it is equality amongst our society. Another
example could be in a care home for the elderly, for one service user walking to the toilet and back
could a real achievement for the, making them feel independent and self
sufficient whereas a different
service user could have a real sense of achievement by simply standing up unaided for 10 seconds.
Recognising peoples different potentially is a key part in creating equality amongst service users.
People can be led to believe that equality is treating people in the exact same way but approaching one

Babylon is one of them. At its height, Babylon was one of the largest, most important cities of the
ancient world. It came to be understood in Akkadian as bab ili, meaning gate of the god, also written
in Sumerian as ka dingir ra, which has the same meaning. Around 2050 2000 BC, the great kingdom

Greek historians went on to provide detailed descriptions of the gardens, citing either Berossus work,

Murder Conventions
In the film Memories of Murder, director Bong Joon ho utilizes a few different generic tropes rather
than just staying in one specific genre. To me, the two most obvious genres that he borrows from in
this film are crime and drama, but it has elements of comedy as well. The most prevalent genre in my
opinion is the crime genre. The story revolves around detectives, investigating a serial killer who rapes
and murders women. The entire plotline is clearly within the genre of crime, and I would say the only
subversion from this trope is that there is no resolve. Although the viewer thinks that they have caught
the killer, they do not have enough evidence to convict, and so they have to let him go. The killer is
never caught, and usually in crime ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Later in the film the song comes on the radio, and when the detectives check outside, it has started
raining. They try to call for backup to search the grounds near where the other bodies were found, but
all backup is busy. This is not only extremely dramatic, but also keeps with the crime drama as well
because all of the other police are occupied already. The darkness that comes with utilizing tropes
such as these is counteracted by Boon Jong ho s use of comedy. Throughout the film there is slight
play on the good cop/bad cop trope seen in so many crime dramas. The bad cop does nothing but drop
kick and beat suspects, until his kicking leg gets infected with tetanus and must be amputated.
Although this sounds like a serious moment, because of the situations the character is seen in (almost
all just getting into physical altercations) makes the moment humorous, because he will no longer be
able to perform his favorite activity. Although Memories of Murder is clearly both a drama and a
crime film, the director s use of comedy along with the subversion of the original genres helps to
offset the dark themes slightly, making the film more unique and

Essay about Theological Virtue of Charity
Saint Thomas Aquinas is one of the people accredited for having brought theology into the limelight.
However, though theology existed long before the emergence of philosophers and fathers if the
church, individualistic drives such as those of Aquinas brought a deeper understanding into the
mysteries of theology. Modern day theology would not have gotten any bearing without the impact of
philosophers and scholars who simplified the understanding of theological concepts. While it cannot
be independently verified what the motivation was behind the interest in theology, it is clear that
theology is what it is because of the input of the philosophers and scholars (Thomas Pegis, 1997).

Aquinas sought to use the same writings and thoughts to further his agenda for making clear his
thoughts. Aristotle based his arguments on the goodness of man. He noted that the man has to develop
from within an aspect of being admired based on the characters that are not as controversial. In
essence, he meant that it is critical for people to leave a life that is a mirror to others and other
generations to come. Aquinas borrowed this concept of the understanding of man to outline the
essence of theological value of ethics. In his arguments, Aquinas noted that for one to achieve some
level of charity from the perspective of theology, two things were critical. Faith and hope, according to
him covered a wide area in understanding or attaining some charity and moral standards. Virtues,
according to Aquinas are the driving force towards achieving some certain telo . Human beings are
ever in pursuit of happiness and as such are always motivated to identify such things that bring about
wellbeing. To this end, Aristotle talked about Beatitudes as a means through which human beings
derive their happiness. According to Aquinas, virtues that are theological in nature drive the human
race towards the supernatural while the other virtues drive people to achieve some specific ends. The
theological values that include faith, hope and charity drive people to God. In essence, he sought to
distinguish the theological virtues and the other virtues. The distinction was that the two

The Industrial Revolution Of The Green Revolution
Introduction
To date, historical evidence, from the industrial revolution to the green revolution, show that
agriculture growth has long been the engine of development. This idea has long helped promoting the
capitalist agriculture transition as the only path to rise resident s income (Zhang, et al., 2015) in order
to get people out of poverty. Accordingly, many started celebrating the global rise in incomes as a
success of those policies while the lagging in Africa showed the undermined inequalities and
marginalisation of the most vulnerable categories. Yet, the specificity in Africa is, today, getting more
and more attention as it shows not only the persistence of poverty but a high concentration in rural
areas.
Accordingly, the starting point of this paper is that agriculture growth is definitely necessary but the
management of the transition process and the understanding of the past and the initial interconnected
conditions lead to different path and development patterns beyond the polarized debate between
traditional as pro poor and the advanced as urban bias. To do so, firstly a study of the different global
patterns of poverty, where it is concentrated, who are the poor and the resulting social relations is
needed. Afterwards, the concept of initial conditions will be explored with a focus on the role of the
initial technical investment in shaping the urban bias development patterns. Finally, the two previous
conditions will be explored with a political economic

Essay On Socrates Apology
Kat Hroncic
Professor Amentas
October 17th 2016
PHIL 1000c
Midterm Paper
The Apology of Socrates by Plato, is the dialogue that tells the story of Socrates legal self defense,
where he represents himself at his trial for impiety and corruption in 399 BC. Throughout the book
Socrates tries to maintain his innocence. Apology of Socrates is essentially a defense against the
charges of corrupting the youth, not believing in gods in whom the city believes, but in other daimonia
that are novel to Athens (24b) Socrates challenges each of the charges he is brought up against.
Socrates is brought up on three charges, corrupting the youth, challenging belief in the gods that were
accepted and reveled by the State, and introducing a new religious ... Show more content on

Plato named this dialogue based on the Greek word Apolgia . Apologia translates to being a formal
defense of someone s conduct. Socrates tries to defend himself on his own at his trial but at no means
does he apologize or admit to anything he is accused of. By the end of this trial he is convicted as
guilty. The jury gives Socrates three options, prison, exile, or to pay a fine. Socrates being as stubborn
and sarcastic as he is, jokily says Pg 40 spot 36e. Socrates almost becomes a different person where he
refuses to beg for forgiveness by the jury even if it was to save his life. What I also noticed was how
Plato demonstrates the difference between what a man before he is found guilty seems to be, and then
what a man who is found guilty appears as,
Throughout this book I could not figure out if I personality liked Socrates or not. He seemed arrogant
and rude, but then at other times he often made sense. Many times he doesn t exactly tell the truth, yet
he doesn t fib either. I think Socrates is one of the smartest person I ve ever learned about. The way he
tried to work the jury especially since he was more or less a one man team was

Summary Of To The Virgins To Make Much Of Time
Beginning of the document content. Robert Herrick s To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time depicts
life as a fleeting moment in which people must not take advantage of. His observations of nature with
references to tomorrow and not losing your prime indicate his strong belief in living every day as if it
were his last. While there have been numerous poems pertaining to living life to the fullest, Herrick
captures this message with such delicacy and precision, it sets it apart from every other one of his
pieces. This poem is a carefully constructed poem expressing essentially a simple sentiment. It says
what it wants with extraordinary technical proficiency, yet without sacrificing the centrality of its
message. Old Time is capitalized to personify time itself. This gives the effect that if time were a
person, his age would grow and grow yet his influence on everything around him never fades. Herrick
also personifies flowers by writing how one day they smile, and the next they are dead. This fleeting
sense of imagery buttresses Herrick s overall theme of seizing the day. The flowers smile instead of
grow or sway in the wind; this indicates that Herrick purposefully chose to label these as soft creatures
that anyone can relate to. The comparison of a smiling flower against the thought of death is jarring to
an audience. This makes whoever is reading this piece take a step back and initially recognize Herrick
s point. Likewise, by personifying the

  • 2. Compare And Contrast The Political Culture Of Texas When looking at the diversity of Texas, it is hard to say that any one political culture would cover the entire state. As large of a state as it is, a particular label would not suit everyone in the state, and maybe even internally contradictory. Texas is home to a large, diverse population, literally, millions of people in the second largest state within the United States of America. Among these people there is a broad spectrum of races, ethnic backgrounds, economic interests and opinions. Some of these differences are based upon need and economic status, but other differences are varied by the region of the state. However, Texas political culture can easily be described using a few different philosophies; populism, liberalism, and conservatism. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Populists are mainly concerned with and focused on ordinary people. Populists believe that majority rules and that the will of the people is the chief virtue of a political position. Populism also can be considered conservative in some ways depending upon the circumstance. Populists are not really liberal or conservative, but a group of their own, who have fought for things like subsidies for farmers, lower taxes for middle and upper class and any other cause that the group sees fit to fight for. At times, populism even serves as a vehicle to defuse (or ignore) the tensions between the influence of classical liberalism on one hand and social conservatism on the other (laits, N.D..) . • 3. The Descent into a Digital Culture The Descent into a Digital Culture In this century our culture is changing rapidly. Just in the last 30 years alone our scientific understanding, technological achievements, and fragmentation of values has transformed faster than in the previous 100 years alone. With our express style culture change, one has to wonder what will be said about our culture another hundred years in the future. What is the one thing that has defined us as who we are? A section on our slow ascent into socialism may be in order, or maybe a chapter on our obsession with going green. However, I would suggest that the first chapter in a humanities book of 2113 on our culture title The Descent into a Digital Culture . Our culture is most defined by the digital ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This has led to a culture in which one does not wait for something, but expects to receive whatever they desire instantly. This did not just translate into knowledge or things we needed. The average person in the U.S today no longer waits to save up the needed funds to buy a new flat screen or other new widget. Instead they finance it or put it on credit. Like their digital life on the internet they expect it instantly. Our Descent into a Digital Culture of instant gratification has become part of who we are. How can our digital culture be explained without our sudden need to cease communication with others. That is unless it involves a smartphone or a twitter page. The previous generations of the United States use to socialize at social events and would even go out and visit people that they wanted to talk to. Sometimes they would actually put their thoughts down a piece of dried would pulp and mail it. The digital culture that ours has become carries out these tasks in a rather different fashion. In modern times social events can be defined as a group chat on Facebook. As far as visiting other human beings, who needs to when there is twitter. Writing letters has become a very archaic form of communication replaced by email. In our present culture most believe that the entire social stimulus that one requires can be found on Facebook or Snap chat. • 4. The Argument Of Creation Vs. Evolution The argument of Creation vs. Evolution has been debated for quite sometime. Since Darwin s theory of Evolution by Natural Selection was published, some of those that thought the world and its inhabitants was made by a creator now began to think differently. Evolution began to make sense, there was evidence of certain types of species evolving (as in the finches in the galapogos islands as observed by Darwin) however, with creationism there was no evidence, it was all based on faith. Although Darwin s theory stands at the forefront for the belief in Evolution especially for those that tend to lean towards this side of the argument, there have been and still is many who support the argument of Design or what is referred to as the teleological argument. Philosophers such as St. Thomas Aquinas and William Paley wrote about the belief in there being a creator in their famous works. David Hume, William Derham and Richard Bentley to name a few also wrote about intelligent design. I believe in Creationism. I believe that the universe and everything in it came into existence because of a higher intelligence and not solely from a primordial soup and if in fact everything did start out as a soup, all the ingredients for this soup was put together by the head chef. In researching this topic, I believe that creationism and evolution (micro evolution) can co exist without one absolutely refuting the other. I believe this designer created existence in such a way that evolution is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. A Closer Look At The Regulatory Structure A Closer Look at the Regulatory Structure in Australia: Understanding APRA, ASIC and RBA Doria Teo Introduction The current regulatory framework for the Australian finance sector largely owes its conception to the Financial System Inquiry ( the Wallis Inquiry ). The Wallis Inquiry had recommended the establishment of the twin peaks model, under which three specialist financial sector regulatory agencies operate. It was also recommended that these three regulatory agencies be based on the functions they performed rather than their traditional status. The government eventually adopted these recommendations and the three key regulators known today are the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority ( APRA ), the Australian Securities and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As highlighted in the Wallis Inquiry, the proposed structure could better facilitate a more flexible response in the face of market developments and changing circumstances. Furthermore, overlaps, duplication and inconsistencies could be minimised. The Wallis Inquiry also pointed out the difficulties with having a single regulator, particularly the difficulty of requiring a single agency to adopt different regulatory styles. For example, under the old institutional based regulatory structure, a single regulator was required to both prudential regulation and consumer protection regulation. These were very different types of regulation. Following the Wallis Inquiry, it was recommended that prudential regulation would be under the purview of APRA while consumer protection regulation be the responsibility of ASIC. Another difficulty was that a single regulator could only provide a very limited perspective on certain regulatory issues. As raised by the Wallis Inquiry, the argument against assigning prudential regulatory responsibility to the RBA was that there are non bank areas of prudential regulation involved. Assigning prudential regulatory responsibility to the RBA would thus run the risk that it would approach regulation from a limited banking perspective. Additionally, a single regulator could have conflicting responsibilities. The Wallis Inquiry ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The country is full of all walks of life from the North Sea to the Swiss Alps in the south. The language spoken there is Deutsch but just like anywhere else depending upon where you are can determine the different types of dialect you might hear. For instance, in the Northern part of Germany, you might hear a more Danish dialect and in the South, you might find a lot more Swedish speaking individuals. The German country is rich in history and has contributed to Europe in a plethora of ways it s almost unprecedented, and their influence is still felt throughout Europe and the rest of the world today. To say that there is one single German culture wouldn t be doing the country any justice. Germany is arguably one of the most culturally diverse nations in all of Europe. This is largely due in part of the almost central location of Germany in Europe, and the amount of federally funded programs that are available there. Germany gets its reputation as one of the major cultural nations due to major influences in the country throughout the eras from famous music composers to literary geniuses. Cultural awareness is arguably one of the most important assets as a military we must have that is why I feel the need to cover the main aspects of Germany in which their culture is influenced and derived from on a day to day basis of their lives. The change in paper quality for the section of art submissions is jarring, particularly because the glossed pages are so white versus the eggshell color of the rest of the book. The protagonist, Bigger Thomas, a twenty year old black man from Chicago s South Side lives with his mother and younger siblings Buddy and Vera Thomas in a small apartment. From the jump, we are faced with Bigger s conflict of man vs. society by hating his family and living condition ...Because he knew they were suffering and he was powerless to help them. He goes on to reveal how he and his friend group make a living through robbing other African Americans. At one point Bigger gets into a deliberate fight with Gus, a member of his gang, and disrupts the plan that was supposed to take place to rob a store who belongs to a white man named Blum. This is where the reader is introduced to Bigger s conflict of man vs. race. Moreover the white race. Bigger goes as far as to play Gus for the weak link calling Gus out in front of the gang for the concerns and doubts they all secretly had. Bigger says on multiple occasions he is not afraid of a white man. Bigger and Gus even initially mock white people in the introduction humorously. As if mockery was a way to prove they weren t intimidated. Some of these tools require labor intensive clinical laboratories work with high complexity10. • 12. American Hegemony And The Failure Of Nato s Liberal... Evan C. Shoaf Professor Dominic Tierney POLS 004: International Politics 09 October 2014 American Hegemony and the Failure of NATO s Liberal Institutionalism Liberal institutionalism provides policymakers with a vision of an idyllic world that is useful for communicating, with heavy rhetorical flavor, lofty promises to both a domestic and international audience. Theoretically and empirically, however, the theory fails to stand up against the necessary scrutiny. First, liberal institutionalism has failed to present itself as a successful challenge to realism, which remains a more compelling paradigm in the study of international relations. Two of the major faults of this theory involve its refusal to recognize the basic balance of power interests at play as well as its lack of focus on explaining how international institutions can prevent the domination of one power. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) provides a useful lens for examining the issues with institutionalism, as it demonstrates that international institutions are, in fact, a reflection of realist tenets. More specifically, the United States determination to maintain its European hegemony through NATO offers several compelling reasons to criticize institutionalist theory. The country s roles in NATO in the 1990s revealed the extent to which liberalism has failed as a major paradigm of international relations. While international institutions at times may seem to foster cooperation among states, NATO ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Uncontrollable as they may seem, our natural inclinations and mental faculties have actually effected immense social change on both a physical and mental level. As oxymoronic as it may seem, it is ultimately our innate passions that both drive conflict and allow for cooperative endeavor, and Thomas Hobbes s masterful 17th century work Leviathan captures this point beautifully. His passions are a kind of internal motion related to one s will and encompass character traits, moods, or ephemeral states of being such as sudden glory causing laughter. Far from perfect. Our passions do not even come close to fitting us in the perfect world. In fact, they prevent its existence. The nature of man then is one of passions and thusly, one of war. According to Hobbes, the nature of war consisteth not in actual fighting, but in the known disposition thereto during all the time there is no assurance to the contrary. (13) War is not a state of fighting, it is a state of being; specifically a state of being in which safety and protection of one s life or happiness are close to non existent. Coupled with the very real ideas of exhaustible resources and the will to survive, this war or natural world is then populated by beasts unreasoned beings dominated by their psyches and unable to coexist in a society. Hobbes concluded that in the nature of man, we find three principal causes of quarrel. First, competition; secondly, diffidence; thirdly, glory. () These three passions are at once dangerous to the natural world, but necessary for the artificial world to exist. The competition to which Hobbes speaks is a competition for power. In his observations, it is the powerful that are happy and can assure their continued felicity. Thus, competition begets violence. Diffidence implies the defense of oneself and your well being in fear of it being stripped of you. Diffidence seems to beget violence as well. And glory begets the most violence. The Stereotypes Of Disney PrincessesBamboozling Young Girls Disney Princesses Bamboozling Young Girls Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and Ariel are all names almost every young female can recall. These are just a few of Disney s most memorable characters, the Disney princesses which are idolized by young girls everywhere. These princesses are portrayed to be strong willed, optimistic, and hardworking women who overcome various hardships throughout their life. Talk about being the perfect role models for little girls everywhere but are they really? Although they may seem to have admirable qualities, by the end of these Disney movies, each princess receives their happy ending with their prince charming at their side. This concludes that happiness is obtained only by finding your prince charming . A princess happily ever after , that is repeated in these iconic Disney movies, distorts what true happiness is and could be for girls around the world. This perceived reality promoted by Disney then becomes engraved in our young girls minds through ways that are much like propaganda in the political arena. Propaganda is a form of language commonly used to manipulate intended audiences. In Disney s case, their intended audience consists of young girls around the world. These Disney films display methods of propaganda, such as doublespeak (Lutz) and the two extremes fallacy (Cross), which result in our young girls believing in a false reality. There needs to be attention brought about this flawed perception of a sole happiness that is continuously depicted by Disney and shared through ways of propaganda, as it is damaging the minds of our young girls the future contributors of our society. The sharper the reading skills children have and the earlier they accumulate them will determine how rapidly and how well they will achieve in school. That is why it is very crucial to get students motivated to read at a young age. Research has consistently shown that children who are exposed to reading or who read regularly gather long term benefits such as better academic performance, a mastery of language, better communication skills and more logical thinking, Nevertheless many parents struggle with generating ideas to encourage or motivate their children to read. There are three learning principles that can be used to help parents help their children get motivated to read. Those learning principles are Classical Conditioning, Operant Conditioning and Observational Learning. Classical conditioning is the association of two stimuli and thus we learn to anticipate events. Classical conditioning is a learning procedure that involve reflexes. Reflexes consist of the following: Unconditioned Stimulus (US) a stimulus that evokes an unconditioned response without any prior conditioning. Noise may have a positive role in preventing a system from becoming too stable in complex environments so that functional movement solutions may be found during exploratory behavior of athletes during that specific time prior to injury in an effort to prevent injury. The fundamental problem for movement systems is the process of mastering the redundant degrees of freedom. Equality is about making our society somewhere that everyone has the opportunity and the chance to reach their maximum potential throughout their life. Part of equality is knowing everyone has a different level of ability and understanding, for example for one person in society being able to walk to a supermarket independently and buy themselves a packet of crisps then walk home again could be a huge achievement for them, giving them a strong sense of self believe as well as a boost in their self concept. To other people this is part of daily life and they wouldn t see it as an achievement. Giving people the opportunity to do things that are possible for them to do with their level of ability and making them feel empowered by it is equality amongst our society. Another example could be in a care home for the elderly, for one service user walking to the toilet and back could a real achievement for the, making them feel independent and self sufficient whereas a different service user could have a real sense of achievement by simply standing up unaided for 10 seconds. Recognising peoples different potentially is a key part in creating equality amongst service users. People can be led to believe that equality is treating people in the exact same way but approaching one person in a specific way could be really positive for that person but to someone else could have a very ... • 39. Murder Conventions In the film Memories of Murder, director Bong Joon ho utilizes a few different generic tropes rather than just staying in one specific genre. To me, the two most obvious genres that he borrows from in this film are crime and drama, but it has elements of comedy as well. The most prevalent genre in my opinion is the crime genre. The story revolves around detectives, investigating a serial killer who rapes and murders women. The entire plotline is clearly within the genre of crime, and I would say the only subversion from this trope is that there is no resolve. Although the viewer thinks that they have caught the killer, they do not have enough evidence to convict, and so they have to let him go. The killer is never caught, and usually in crime ... They try to call for backup to search the grounds near where the other bodies were found, but all backup is busy. This is not only extremely dramatic, but also keeps with the crime drama as well because all of the other police are occupied already. The darkness that comes with utilizing tropes such as these is counteracted by Boon Jong ho s use of comedy. Throughout the film there is slight play on the good cop/bad cop trope seen in so many crime dramas. The bad cop does nothing but drop kick and beat suspects, until his kicking leg gets infected with tetanus and must be amputated. Although this sounds like a serious moment, because of the situations the character is seen in (almost all just getting into physical altercations) makes the moment humorous, because he will no longer be able to perform his favorite activity. Although Memories of Murder is clearly both a drama and a crime film, the director s use of comedy along with the subversion of the original genres helps to offset the dark themes slightly, making the film more unique and ... • 41. Essay about Theological Virtue of Charity Saint Thomas Aquinas is one of the people accredited for having brought theology into the limelight. However, though theology existed long before the emergence of philosophers and fathers if the church, individualistic drives such as those of Aquinas brought a deeper understanding into the mysteries of theology. Modern day theology would not have gotten any bearing without the impact of philosophers and scholars who simplified the understanding of theological concepts. While it cannot be independently verified what the motivation was behind the interest in theology, it is clear that theology is what it is because of the input of the philosophers and scholars (Thomas Pegis, 1997). Aquinas sought to use the same writings and thoughts to further his agenda for making clear his thoughts. Aristotle based his arguments on the goodness of man. He noted that the man has to develop from within an aspect of being admired based on the characters that are not as controversial. Aquinas borrowed this concept of the understanding of man to outline the essence of theological value of ethics. • 42. The Industrial Revolution Of The Green Revolution Introduction To date, historical evidence, from the industrial revolution to the green revolution, show that agriculture growth has long been the engine of development. This idea has long helped promoting the capitalist agriculture transition as the only path to rise resident s income (Zhang, et al., 2015) in order to get people out of poverty. Accordingly, many started celebrating the global rise in incomes as a success of those policies while the lagging in Africa showed the undermined inequalities and marginalisation of the most vulnerable categories. Yet, the specificity in Africa is, today, getting more and more attention as it shows not only the persistence of poverty but a high concentration in rural areas. Accordingly, the starting point of this paper is that agriculture growth is definitely necessary but the management of the transition process and the understanding of the past and the initial interconnected conditions lead to different path and development patterns beyond the polarized debate between traditional as pro poor and the advanced as urban bias. To do so, firstly a study of the different global patterns of poverty, where it is concentrated, who are the poor and the resulting social relations is needed. Afterwards, the concept of initial conditions will be explored with a focus on the role of the initial technical investment in shaping the urban bias development patterns. Finally, the two previous conditions will be explored with a political economic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. Summary Of To The Virgins To Make Much Of Time Beginning of the document content. Robert Herrick s To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time depicts life as a fleeting moment in which people must not take advantage of. His observations of nature with references to tomorrow and not losing your prime indicate his strong belief in living every day as if it were his last. While there have been numerous poems pertaining to living life to the fullest, Herrick captures this message with such delicacy and precision, it sets it apart from every other one of his pieces. This poem is a carefully constructed poem expressing essentially a simple sentiment. It says what it wants with extraordinary technical proficiency, yet without sacrificing the centrality of its message. Old Time is capitalized to personify time itself. This gives the effect that if time were a person, his age would grow and grow yet his influence on everything around him never fades. Herrick also personifies flowers by writing how one day they smile, and the next they are dead. This fleeting sense of imagery buttresses Herrick s overall theme of seizing the day. The flowers smile instead of grow or sway in the wind; this indicates that Herrick purposefully chose to label these as soft creatures that anyone can relate to. The comparison of a smiling flower against the thought of death is jarring to an audience. This makes whoever is reading this piece take a step back and initially recognize Herrick s point. Likewise, by personifying the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
