Illegal Immigrants And Illegal Immigration
Illegal immigration Over the past few years illegal immigration has become a bigger problem.
Statistics reveal that more and more immigrants are entering the country illegally by crossing
the borders. If something is not done soon, this may get out of hand and be to gone far not to
handle. The number of illegal immigrants have gone up over the past years drastically In 2011,
there were 40 million immigrants in the U.S. Of that 11.1 million were illegal. Although the
number of illegal immigrants has leveled off it still is a continuing problem that should be
attended to. In the next few years the number of illegal immigrants will continue to increase.
United Nations reported that 97% of the illegal immigrants who enter the U.S. Clandestinely
across the nearly 2,000 mile Mexico border, but only 20% of those are caught. This proves that
our border is our weakest link of our security system . This proves that immigrants are crossing
the border into the U.S. And getting away with it. To prevent this something needs to be done and
improve and strengthen the the Mexico border soon. With more and more illegal immigrants
entering the country, the number of immigrants will continue to climb and crime rates will rise
also. If something is not done soon it will eventually become to big of a problem to handle.
studies show that the population of illegal immigrants is increasing and it is becoming a bigger

Trancendentalism in The Call of the Wild, by Jack London...
This need for transcendentality is real and strong, especially in the two novels The Call of the
Wild, by Jack London and Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer. Transcendentalism is the belief that
thought and spiritual experience is more important than everyday experiences and material
belongings. The main character in the call of the wild is buck, a dog forced into trancendality as
he was kidnapped and handed a brutal northern life. The main character in Into the wildis Chris
McCandless, a young man who chooses the call of nature over modern society, also demonstrating
transcendentalism. The protagonists, Chris McCandless and Buck, exhibit their transcendentality
in conflicting yet converging ways including the specific occurrences which... Show more content

Chris goes to live in alaska in a final attempt to purify his ideological views by indulging in nature
and spurning society. The transformation in Buck caused by his transcendental turn is almost
totally positive. At the beginning of the novel he was soft, pampered, and mentally inactive. The
Big Read, an internet site which provides a wonderful overview of The Call of the Wild, brings to
light, In addition to cunning, patience, and strength, Buck s greatest quality allows him to fight by
both cunning and insight. (Call of the Wild 1). With this newfound ability to fight and evade tough
situations, Buck buys the time to learn the ways of the north completely, eventually surpassing the
dogs around him. The only negative effect this had on Buck was that his moral nature quickly
deteriorated. This was necessary. Without the ability to be transcendental, Buck could not have
survived his new environment.
Chris McCandless s transcendental experience was both positive and negative depending on
which party is being asked. Chris believed that his experience as a whole was unsurpassable to an
extent, that is until he realized his end fate. Chris left society on his own accord, and so he
expectedly was ecstatic to be in the wild. However, the friends, family and acquaintances who had
met Chris try to find reason in this apparently unnecessary death such as this justification from the
novel, Danger has always held

What Is The Ebola Conspiracy
Conspiracy or truth? In this day and age, every news and event has a conspiracy theory linked to
it, not just one but millions. Most of them are made up intended for humour and fame however
there are loads out there which provide physical evidence proving the truth behind it. Not
everything said by the government makes sense therefore maybe the government shouldn t be
trusted? So instead of trusting them, I decided to go over a few conspiracies. How about the most
recent one? The outbreak of Ebola. I strongly believe that Ebola virus is a bioweapon, this is
because the US government know there are more demands than supplies and they cannot handle it,
financially. They have a desire for world depopulation and are encouraging the use of bioweapons...

Participatory Action Research Essay
Understandings of Participatory Action Research
Research is the method of intense enquiry into a particular topic/s. The ethical implications of
conduction of research ventures without properly defined values or ethical process allows for the
risk of breakdown of research structures and possible legal sanctions. This paper will aim to
provide a meaningful, in depth understanding of the research approach Participatory Action
Research and its conducive uses in relation to effective implementation with Aboriginal and Torres

The National Health and Medical Research Council has currently a released document titled Values

This thorough document acts as a guide to research in Indigenous matters and incorporates core
process and justifications to conclude with the best possible research outcomes. The inception of

Application, And Assessment Of Current And Projected...
This course focused on the understanding, application, and assessment of current and projected
styles of curriculum.
Proposition 3: Teachers motivate, manage, and monitor student learning.
Indicator 3b: Teachers manage the learning environment by engaging students and organizing
instruction.
Indicator 3c: Teachers use multiple methods of for monitoring and measuring student understanding
and make informed decisions about instruction.
After examining the Understanding by Design framework by Grant Wiggins and Jay McTighe, I
have learned how to develop a unit by working backwards. The development of a unit is multi
layered in its focus on curriculum, instruction, and assessment. In planning I need to first assess
what the big ideas are that I want my students to learn and why they are important. In our study of
Mesopotamia, we look at how our world began with the first civilization and the achievements that
led to advances throughout history. The big ideas framed as understandings that I want my students
to know are that the locations of civilizations and city states in relation to specific landforms affect
development and technology achievements can benefit society in a variety of areas. Then I look at
what essential questions are raised and what I want students to know and be able to do. The
framework looks to deepen student understanding and transfer that understanding of knowledge and
skill into a performance task and other evidence of formative and summative

Mikhail Gorbachev Decade
I think that Mikhail Gorbachev should be Person of the Decade. Mikhail Gorbachev was born on
March 2, 1931 into a Russian Ukrainian family in Privolnoye, Russia. His father, Sergei, and
mother Maria were both peasants. After three years in the Russian Army Mikhail s father returned
wounded and ended up passing down his experience as a combine harvester to Mikhail, which he
showed a natural ability at. As Mikhail reached his teenage years, he helped out his familyby
working at a machine stated driving tractors. Once he reached the age of 17 he was known as the

Double Indemnity Essay
In Double Indemnity , to depict the characteristics of the femme fatale named Dietrichson in
different plots, the combination of various representational ways is necessary. Hanson Helen and
O Rawe Catherine analyze many plots of this movie and list them in their book named The
Femme Fatale: Images, Histories, Contexts . Take one representational method as an example, In
this plot which shows the conversation between Dietrichson and Neff, audiences just can hear
Dietrichson s voices and all of her gestures and facial expressions are hidden by the shadow, at
the same time, Walter appearance can be seen clearly (Hanson Helen, O Rawe Catherine). This
innovative way is used to highlight their different standpoints, in fact, the movie shows Dietrichson
always manipulates the progress of the crime and controls Neff s affection for her plan. In another
words, Walter is in the light, meanwhile, Dietrichson is in darkness. Additionally, This movie uses
this method for transforming the threat into a secret to foreshadow their tragic results (Hanson
Helen, O Rawe Catherine). Double Indemnity does not show the outcome of Neff clearly,
although audiences know that he was shot by Dietrichson and the crime he did was known by his
colleague. Innovative representations for plots are using in this movie, however, it shows
traditional results for Dietrichson and Neff. In fact, people can expect that Neff will not avoid
from death and laws because of the shot or the crime, however,

Ancient Civilization And The Aztec Civilization Essay
One of the greatest ancient Mesoamerican civilizations lies right below modern day Mexico City.
(Yellow,16) Legends have been told about the history of Mexico City, but not until recently was
the great city of Tenochtitlan uncovered while construction workers were digging in Mexico City.
There are very few physical remains of the ancient city today, but the history of this great
civilization is still with us. This civilization was created by the Aztecs, who built their empire in
1325 AD. (Yellow,15). The capital of the Aztecs, Tenochtitlan, flourished rapidly as their life
revolved around their religion, which greatly helped them expand their empire. Religion played a
key role in the ancient Aztecsociety and consisted of numerous gods, ceremonies, and temples.
According to Aztec legend, the Aztec civilization came about when the god Huitzilopochtli told
his people to find a new home for their civilization. The people traveled and eventually ended up
at Lake Texcoco. This is where they see an eagle perched on a cactus eating a snake, which was
the gods sign that this will be their permanent home. So, the Aztecs settled on an island inside of
Lake Texcoco, called Tenochtitlan. By listening to their god, they began one of the greatest
civilizations in Mesoamerica, which would continue to flourish until 1521 AD (yellow 16) The
Aztec people had a polytheistic religion. This means that the Aztecs worshiped hundreds of gods,,
and they all had a certain role in the

Social Rank Essay
There are many forms or types of rank social (gender, race, education, professional, health, age,
religion), psychological and spiritual rank. Social rank, in particular, is bestowed unequally by the
society and culture we live in, being derived from mainstream biases and prejudices. Some rank is
earned (personal development, education, expertise) and some not(racial, gender, height, certain
health characteristics).
The more rank one has, the less one is aware to its effects on others. Those with lower rank are
attuned to its sting and humiliation. Each of us can have high rank in one or more types, and less
rank in others. High social rank individuals can be undermined by their low psychological rank.

Who resists the call for change? Who defends the status quo? Doctors are among the most highly
paid professionals in our society. The current system benefits them by limiting the education and
licensing of doctors, thus creating low supply in the face of increasingly high demand. Insurance
companies, with the input of physicians, determine the rate of reimbursement for physician
services. Health care corporations continue to be good investments, despite the recession. The
pejorative term socialized medicine , first coined by a free market focus group opposing President
Truman s attempt to create a government sponsored health care system in the 1940 s, has
successfully forestalled change by frightening the public with images of inept and oppressive
governmental interference in health care. The current system, unjust, inadequate and expensive,
continues to profit the few ( doctors, pharmaceutical corporations, hospital corporations, HMO s
politicians) to the detriment of all. This is a rank issue. Who profits the most resists change the
most, and uses rank to influence and obstruct. The medical industrial congressional complex, which
comprises of our gross domestic product, overtly and covertly, opposes change which threatens
their interests ( profits ) opposes health care reform and justice. They have the money, the access to

No range of the third era Tucson hybrid utility vehicle was left untouched by Hyundai engineers, yet

As anyone might expect, the 2016 Tucson stage is bigger than the past generation s;
notwithstanding, builds centered around enhancing width and wheelbase for more noteworthy ride

We have a full lineup of CUVs, so having the greatest one in the portion is not the best since

Analysis Of Jaap Schekkerman, The Founder Of Ifead s And...
Background Jaap Schekkerman, the founder of IFEAD s, developed the Extended Enterprise
Architecture Framework (E2AF) in the early 2000 s. The E2AF is a communication framework
that is a blended framework which takes standards from IEEE 1471, describes views and
viewpoints of an architecture from a software intensive system and elements of FEAF and TOGAF
and a matrix structure similar to Zachman. E2AF is an architecture program that describes subjects
and relations with all key stakeholders. It helps address the topics and process steps needed to reach
an organizations overall goals and objectives (Schekkerman, 2006). The rules and principles of
E2AF are the fundamental elements when utilizing IFEAD s architectural philosophy. The
visualization translated by the principles and rules help express the style of architecture. In
addition, the principles and rules are related to both the context of the architecture, the methods and
approaches. In turn, the approaches help define and describe the process roadmap for an
architecture. Schekkerman designed the framework to address the elements of construction,
function and style (Schekkerman, 2006). In particular, the enterprise deals with the function and
construction and the culture (including values and norms) deals with the style. Major Architectural

In the early stages of the war on terror the United States military flooded the Middle East with
equipment that had not been updated since Desert Storm. Troop carriers and up armored

Twelfth Night- Literature Cape Unit !
Twelfth Night Criticism
William Shakespeare and The Twelfth Night
Known for his tragedies, comedies, sonnets and love stories, William Shakespeare is argued to be
one of the best writers of his time. Throughout his plays, including The Twelfth Night, he uses
disguise and deceit to fool the other characters to benefit another. Shakespeare was born in April of
1564 in the town Stratford upon Avon. Although the exact date of his birth is not known, historians
traditionally celebrate it on the 23rd. He was one of eight children born to John Shakespeare, a
well known merchant in his community. Not much is known about his Mother, or of his schooling.
It is said that Shakespeare probably attended the King s New School in Stratford, but had no ...

Was not this love indeed? (II.iv.111 114)
The audience, like Orsino, can only answer with an emphatic yes.
Viola s chief problem throughout the play is one of identity. Because of her disguise, she must be
both herself and Cesario. This mounting identity crisis culminates in the final scene, when Viola
finds herself surrounded by people who each have a different idea of who she is and are unaware
of who she actually is. Were Twelfth Nightnot a comedy, this pressure might cause Viola to break
down. Sebastian s appearance at this point, however, effectively saves Viola by allowing her to be
herself again. Sebastian, who independent of his sister is not much of a character, takes over the
aspects of Viola s disguise that she no longer wishes to maintain. Thus liberated by her brother,
Viola is free to shed the roles that she has accumulated throughout the play, and she can return to
being Viola, the woman who has loved and won Orsino.
Orsino and Olivia
Orsino and Olivia are worth discussing together, because they have similar personalities. Both
claim to be buffeted by strong emotions, but both ultimately seem to be self indulgent individuals
who enjoy melodrama and self involvement more than anything. When we first meet them, Orsino
is pining away for love of Olivia, while Olivia pines away for her dead brother. They show no
interest in relating to the outside world,

two different stories based around a central theme of the World s Fair in Chicago in 1893. One

They both had huge ideas that to some people would have seemed impossible and the desire to
achieve them. The only difference was which side of the humanistic scale they were on.
Essentially, the tactics hidden underneath of the facades were exactly the same: Burnham s
dream being the fair, and Holmes s dream being a hotel which he could successfully lure women
into and kill them without suspicion. Throughout the novel there are many examples of
buildings and projects that Burnham had to complete. During the process of building each one
there were always challenges that he had to overcome. Before the fair, Burnham and his partner
Root were commissioned to build the Montauk. This building had to face a common problem
for Chicago: the foundation. There was already a common solution for the problem; however,
this building did not have a usual design and required a basement that could not be filled with
stone pyramids as the usual design would have made it. Instead, he came up with a better solution
that involved a floating foundation, and seemed to fulfill its purpose. The Montauk became the
first building to be called a skyscraper. Since Holmes was not building a skyscraper and instead a
three story hotel, he did not have the same issue. Instead, he faced another common problem:
money. Though he was not poor, he was only a pharmacist and wished to be able to pay for the
construction of a building that would cover the entire block. Just like Burnham, he came

2.The Conflict Between Gloucester and Edmund in King Lear and its Implications Today by Ciara
Khor Brogan
2.Thesis:
1.In King Lear by William Shakespeare, Gloucester and Edmund have a conflict over power and
inheritance.
3.Main Ideas
1.One source of this conflict is Gloucester s treatment of his bastard son, Edmund.
2.Another source of the conflict is Edmund s deep resentment of society s treatment of illegitimate
and second born sons.
3.Through the conflict between Edmund and Gloucester, Shakespeare portrays the tragedy that
takes place when a child is neglected, as well as the consequences of struggling for power. This
related to the resentment of the older generation that was common in Shakespearean England.

he decides to betray his father for political gain. In this soliloquy, he mentions a feud or conflict

3.Connection between MI c and thesis
1.Edmund s betrayal results in Gloucester s eyes being gouged out, and Gloucester being thrown
into the wilderness, wandering and blind. This is one of the terrible consequences that take place
when Edmund betrays his father. Shakespeare makes Gloucester s punishment seem both extreme
and bitter in order to truly emphasize the tragedy that results from mistreatment and resentment.
During Shakespeare s time, there was a large, growing population of young men without power or

Out of the silent planet
Out of the silent planet by C.S Lewis is a novel that denotes the difference between the social
system on planet earth and the planet Malacandra. In Malacandra, groups live in harmony with one
another and complement each other. On earth, the social system is brutal and evil. The novel is a
science fiction that covers Dr. Ransoms (major character) adventures and encounters on a planet
that is entirely different from earth. Ransoms lands into this planet by accident after being
kidnapped by two evil men (Devine and Weston) and transported to the planet Malacandra (Mars)

This is different to what happens on earth where groups are in constant dominance wars, often
breaking into factions that regard each other as inherently inferior. The kidnappers, Devine and
Weston represent this dominance character of Earthly beings.
On earth, people are self centered and do not care for each other. In contrast, On Malacandra,
various species live and work together (Gibbons 88). There three intelligent species in Malacandra
and their differences of knowledge is their strength. The pfifltriggi excavate and makes things out of
their excavation, the Seroni are the master of knowledge and the hrossa were poets (Lewis, 68).
Even with these different talents, there is no group that wants to dominate the other. They know
that they have differences but have accepted them since they can talk to each other, they can
cooperate, and they have the same ethics (Lewis 156).
The leadership system on earth is also different from the other planets. Unlike the earth, all the
other planets have a structured leadership; they have a ruler (Oyarsa). The earth is unruly
because people have no common Oyarsa and this makes people bent. Everyone on earth wants to
be a little Oyarsa himself (Lewis 102). The Oyarsa of Malacandra, in reference to the actions of
Devine and Weston of kidnapping, is surprised how any creature could be so

Stoker was mesmerized by Irving s charismatic performance, but was disappointed to find only a
cursory mention of the event in the next day s Dublin Evening Mail. A second tour by Irving four
years later produced an equally unsatisfactory mention in the Mail, prompting an outraged young
Stoker to march into the offices of the newspaper and offer himself for the unpaid position of
theater critic. He got the job, and as a result, when Irving (now a star of the London stage) returned
to Dublin a third time, this time to star in Hamlet, Stoker had the opportunity to set down in print
glowing praises of his favorite actor. Irving read the review and was delighted to the extent that he
invited the young critic to supper at his hotel, and began a friendship that would last for almost
thirty years.
In the years between 1870 and 1877, Stoker, yielding to his father s wishes, followed him into a
career as civil servant in Dublin Castle. However, Stoker maintained ties to Trinity College,
returning there frequently to speak on a wide range of topics for the Philosophical Society.
In 1878, Irving took over ownership and renovation of London s Lyceum Theatre, and asked
Stoker to come to London to manage the theater and Irving s career. Stoker immediately resigned

How Does Technology Influenced Popular Culture
In this essay the topic popular culture in line with technology will be discussed between the time

There is an old African saying, when an elder dies, it is as if an entire library has burned to the
ground. This happens to be the case when it comes to my family history. Unfortunately, my

Strategic Pricing Proposal to Counter Generic Sildenafil

been very successful since its approval in March 1998 as a first in class erectile dysfunction (ED)

Year after year, we have taken advantage of our position by setting our own price rather than
basing it on demand and supply equilibrium. The latest sales numbers from 2011 shows Viagra s
success in having the largest market shares compared to our competitors: ED Drugs| Market
Share| Sales| Viagra(Pfizer)| 45%| 1.9 B| Cialis(Eli Lilly)| 36%| 1.5 B| Levitra (Bayer AG)| 15%|

Viagra s patent expires, the generic competitors entering the market will force Viagra to
significantly drop its price in order to remain competitive. The pricing will affect the demand
which means the demand is now elastic rather than inelastic. In addition to the change in demand
from inelastic to elastic, the supply curve will also shift outward quite drastically as multiple
generic manufacturing firms enter the market causing the ED market to progress further into a
monopolistic competitive market. Consumers Although we have achieved high profits with
Viagra, we still have more opportunities to grow our market shares and maximize profits.
According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), approximately 30 million men in the United

never discuss their issues with their doctors. [6] Most men have been affected by ED at some

Essay about Jamestown
Jamestown: The first English colony In spite of the many Indian massacres, Jamestown still grew
to be a successful colony. The London Company was the main founder of Jamestown. The
London Company s founders believed that there were precious metals in America so they sent a
group of settlers to Jamestown. The trip to the Americas was not a very easy one for these
settlers. They had to overcome many obstacles just to get to the Americas. In 1619 the House of
Burgesses was formed which marked the first legislative body in America. Jamestown was plagued
by many disasters. They were faced with one continuous disaster, Indian wars. They fought over
land with Indians for many years. The London Company, creation of the colony, and... Show more

The company then dissolved after King James himself took over the association. The London
Company was not a complete failure because without it their would not have been any money for
the exploration. That was the one of the only major thing that the company did as a whole for the
colony. The creation of Jamestown started on May 24, 1607. Captain Christopher Newport led
three ships, the Susan Constant, Godspeed, and Discovery. They named both the river and their
colony after King James I of England (Jamestown 28). They did not want to leave England
completely or they would not have named those two things after him. They probably felt that they
needed to name these things after him because he was the main leader and investor of the
expedition. The colonies agriculture and Industry started off slow. They failed to produce silk,
grapes, and other items because of the Virginia climate (Jamestown 29). They had trouble growing
these because they thought that they would grow as they did in England but the climate was much
different. They brought a lot of stuff over that they thought would work but did not and this trial
and error resulted in a long process before they finally found the first product that grew or worked.
The first agricultural products to be successfully raised were hogs and Indian corn (Jamestown 29).
There was more than one leader that contributed to keeping Jamestown up and going. Captain

Shere Khan as the Enemy in Mowgli s Brothers of Rudyard Kipling s The Jungle Book
The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling was written in the year 1894 as a series of short stories based
primarily in the jungles of India. The first story, Mowgli s Brothers introduces a number of
characters that feature throughout additional stories in the novel. The antagonist a tiger named
Shere Kahn, is introduced early in the novel and presents the ongoing danger against the
protagonist, man child , Mowgli. Kipling conveys Shere Kahn as the enemy early in the novel

Father Wolf says killing man means sooner or later there will be the arrival of white men on
elephants with guns and hundreds of brown men with gongs and rockets then, everybody in the
jungle suffers .
When Shere Khan first attacks the woodcutter s camp he is shown as incompetent. He burns his
paw in the human s fire and he is heard to be mumbling and muttering savagely as he tumbled
about . This is where we first hear of his dry, angry, snarly, singsong whine sounds. The
alliteration here emphasises his anger and confusion. The description of how Shere Khan is
whining shows how frustrated he is with Mowgli. He is portrayed as a tiger who is, unlike other
tigers because of his untigerish howl and we are told he has been lame in one foot from his birth
which shows that he is physically inferior to other tigers. He is also humiliated by Mother Wolf s
strong use of language by describing her movement as she sprang forward, her eyes, like two green
moons .
Kipling uses language to contrast Shere Khan with other animals and Characters. Mowgli is
described as soft and is also viewed as brave by Mother Wolf. How naked and how bold she says.
This shows that Mowgli the hero is not dangerous. Bagheera is portrayed by Kipling as a beautiful
animal who is inky black all over, but with the panther marking showing up in certain lights

Literature Review On Nurse To-Patient Ratios
Literature Review The topic of appropriate nurse to patient ratios has been a highly researched
subject for over a decade. Many researchers approach this topic by focusing on the effect that
high nurse to patient ratios have on patient outcomes often called nurse specific indicators . The
following includes a summary of five recent studies conducted on the cause and effect
relationship between high nurse to patient ratios and the increased occurrence of nurse specific
indicators (e.g. urinary tract infection, patient falls, central line associated blood stream
infections, etc). California passed Assembly Bill 394, making them the first state to pass a law
that required hospitals to limit the amount of patients included in a nurse s workload. The
California Assembly Bill 394 (AB394) was put into effect on January 1, 2004. In 2012 a study
was conducted to determine if mandated nurse to patient ratios actually had a positive impact on
patient outcomes. This study examined medical/surgical units in California hospitals. The data
used to compare outcomes before and after passing AB394 was from the year 2000 2002 for the
before data. The after data was from the years 2005 2006 (Cook, Gaynor, Stephens, Taylor, 2012).
Shockingly, the data compared before and after the implementation of AB394 showed only a slight
decrease in adverse patient outcomes. One patient outcome specifically mentioned was hospital
acquired pressure ulcers. The occurrence rate of hospital acquired

Hitler s Actions During Ww2
In the final months of World War II Allied Forces, commanded by United States General Dwight
D. Eisenhower, were on the offensive and had pushed deep into German territory. The Germans
had suffered significant losses of troops and equipment after five years of warfare. Any chance
of winning meant the Germans would have to make a stand. Hitler discussed his strategy with
his top generals. While they agreed that capturing the city of Antwerp, a major Allied supply
hub, would inflict a devastating blow to the Allied Forces, they disagreed with Hitler s plan of
assaulting through the heavily wooded area of the Ardennes. Furthermore, the plan was to attack
under the protection of poor weather to mitigate the use of Allied airpower, which was a major
Allied advantage. Hitler believed that a complex assault would catch Allied commanders off
guard causing them to be slow to react. The Allied lines were spread very thin in the Ardennes,
even to the point of an average of 73 men per mile. Moreover, this specific area was used for
training new units and for allowing battle tested, experienced units to rest and... Show more content

Contributions Of John Adams
On October 30, 1735, John Adams was born to John Adams, Sr. and Susanna Boylston Adams, in
Braintree (or what is now called: Quincy), Massachusetts. He was direct descendant of Henry
Adams, on his father s side, and John Alden, on his mother s side, both of whom were Pilgrims on
the Mayflower in 1638 (Biography.com). Attending a local school during his primary education,
going to Harvard College with a scholarship, at age sixteen, graduating at age twenty, Adams was
well prepared for his future political career and involvement in American Independence. Through
his political career, his writings, and his diplomatic skills, John Adamsgreatly contributed to the
formation of the United Statesgovernment, before, during, and after the Revolutionary War.
John Adam studied law under James Putnam and by 1758 had become one of the most well known,
respected attorneys in Massachusetts (Lossing, 28). Accordingly, in 1772, he was elected to the
Massachusetts Legislature, where he defended Thomas Preston during one of the many Boston
Massacre trials. A year or two later, Adams was appointed delegate to the First Continental Congress
in Philadelphia, in 1774, and again the following year to the Second Continental Congress, in which
he nominated George Washington to Commander of the Continental army. He then nominated
Thomas Jefferson to head the drafting comity for writing the Declaration of Independence

The Violets Gwen Harwood Analysis
The Violets by Gwen Harwood was written during the late 1960s and was published in the
anthology Selected Poems in 1975. As we know, Harwood s poems explore philosophical and
universal ideas. Harwood herself says My themes are old ones of love, memory, experience etc , all
of which are explored in this poem through the use of poetic and language techniques.
Literally, the persona of the poem is outside when some aspects of the nature around her, like
violets and a blackbird, trigger a memory from her childhood. The poem then flashbacks to a
childhood memory of the persona as a young girl, which is shown through the indentation of the
stanzas, where the girl wakes up in the afternoon thinking it is morning and becomes upset when she

The memories in the poem maintain a cohesiveness and continuity of experience through
repeated motifs such as the violets and the whistling . Memories also give us a recovered sense
of life, as shown through the final line of the poem faint scent of violets drifts in air . This
example of sensory imagery also creates a rhythmic drifting sense linked closely to the stone
curlews call from Kedron Brook . It echoes images of the speaker s mind drifting into reflection and
aurally creates transience between the present and the past.
Childhood is portrayed as a time of safety that is often looked back upon with nostalgia from an
adult perspective. Monosyllabic words are used to show the simplicity of childhood life, for
example in the line the thing I could not grasp or name . The spring violets are in their loamy
bed and are no longer frail and melancholy, and the memory takes place on a hot afternoon in
contrast to the cold dusk that represents the present. Childhood is represented as a joyful,
vivacious time in one s life, and the value of a stable family life is conveyed. The unexpected
integration of Australian vernacular in the line it will soon be night, you goose , adds a sense of
freedom and relaxation to the otherwise formal discourse and more rigid structure of the poem,
once again reflects the simplicity and innocence that is associated with childhood. The use of

The Issue Of Affirmative Action
On the contrary, supports of affirmative action feel that this law is still needed in America to
help places of higher education have more diversity which will benefit companies in the long
run and it also helps companies be more diverse and it helps them thrive. In the past few decades
the number of minorities and females in places of higher education and companies have been
rising at a slow rate. During 2012, the health care industry was suffering from lack of medical
personal in the medical field; however, 16% of the U.S. population is Latino and 14% is African
American, these groups constituted only 9% and 7%, respectively, of the total U.S. medical
school enrollment in 2012 (Graces, paragraph 2). The rate of minorities enrolled in medical
school has been slowly rising over the years. Having minorities and females in a company helps
the company be more diverse while also giving the company employees that can help the
company thrive and be successful. Supporters feel that this law benefits people who usually would
not have a chance of attending a place of higher education or be a part of a company an equal and
fair chance. Supporters of affirmative action feel that it is positive discriminationand that it benefits
places of higher education and companies not discriminate against females and minorities. A
significant, amount of court cases have been brought up to the Supreme Court dealing with
affirmative action. One important court case that deals with affirmative

The, Taoist, And Aristotelian Views On The Soul s...
Does the soul exist? If so, what is the soul? Moreover, what is its function in daily life? For
millennia, schools of philosophy have investigated these questions and attempted to answer them
by devising complex philosophies, which were in some cases completely alien to our modern
ideas. In this essay, I will discuss the Egyptian, Taoist, and Aristotelian views on the souls function
and composition during life. Then, I will compare these philosophies and discuss which aspects of
each philosophy I find the most plausible from a realist s point of view. Concerning the composition
and function of the soul, I argue that the Aristotelian and Taoist philosophies are equally plausible,
but that the Egyptian philosophy also had plausible aspects. Ultimately, however, it is difficult to
determine which theory the most plausible (from a realist s perspective) without tackling the bigger
question does the soul exist?
The ancient Egyptians were soul dualists, meaning that they believed that a person had two or
more souls (in this case nine).1 In Egypt, one of the main purposes of the nine souls was to help
the deceased reach the afterlife. 2 In fact, the Egyptians believed that some souls only existed after
death, but I will not discuss these in this paper. Instead, I will focus on the role of the soul during
one s life.
The Egyptians identified six souls that were present during life: Khabit, Ba, Khat, Ib, and Ren.3
The Khabit was considered a shadow that could detach itself

The Man Who Saved Me
Out of all of the days I have been alive there is one I will never forget. I woke up knowing that I
was going to be going on my first airplane ride to Iowa to visit family, but other than a little fear
everything seemed normal. As I boarded the plane and said goodbye to my family I found my seat

open seat next to me. The seat remained empty for quite a while. We were just about getting
ready to take off before I heard a man with a deep voice yelling, wait wait, im here. It was then
that I knew he would be taking the empty seat next to me. We all buckled our seatbelts and
prepared for the the pressure of taking off. We were all asked to turn our phones off, which
forced us to start a conversation with the person sitting next to us. I looked over and the man
sitting next to me was a tall man who was thin in stature. He had brown hair, green eyes, and a
black hat on. I began to try and start a conversation with him but he said very little. He seemed to
be very quiet and kept to himself. I asked him where he was headed and he replied with a mumble,
and said my friends. I didn t really try to talk to him any more, I let him be. As the plane ride
continued I suddenly felt a big jerk. Since I had never been on a plane I was worried, I then

Essay on Spectroscopy
Spectroscopy
Spectroscopy is the study of energy levels in atoms or molecules, using absorbed or emitted
electromagnetic radiation. There are many categories of spectroscopy eg. Atomic and infrared
spectroscopy, which have numerous uses and are essential in the world of science. When
investigating spectroscopy four parameters have to be considered; spectral range, spectral
bandwidth, spectral sampling and signal to noise ratio, as they describe the capability of a
spectrometer. In the world of spectroscopy there are many employment and educational
opportunities as the interest in spectroscopy and related products is increasing. However
Spectroscopy is not a recent development, as it has been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
History of Spectroscopy =======================
Spectroscopy has been used as a method of quantitative chemical analysis before the beginning of
the twentieth century. Spectroscopy started in 1666 when Sir Isaac Newton passed rays of light
from the sun through a glass prism and observed the colours of the visible spectrum, another great
breakthrough concerning spectroscopy was the suggestion of transition between energy levels
within atoms as the source of spectral lines was great contribution made by Niels Bohr in 1913. At
the end of the nineteenth century, spectroscopy was limited to the absorption, emission, and the
scattering of visible, ultraviolet, and infrared electromagnetic radiation. However, during the
twentieth century, spectroscopy was extended to include other forms of electromagnetic radiation
including photo spectroscopy e.g X rays, microwaves, and radio waves, as well as particle
spectroscopy.
Functions and Description of a spectrometer

Uglies Westerfeld Character Analysis
Tally, the main character in the book Uglies , shows many changes in character or thought
throughout the book. Uglies was written by Scott Westerfeld, a New York Times Bestselling
Author. In Uglies, Westerfeld shows the reader how Tally s character changes when Peris visits
her in Uglyville, when Tally finds out David grew up in the Smoke, and when Tally visits David s
parents house.
The first time a change of character in Tally is noticed is when she finds out who she trusts, and
commits to, when Peris visits her in Uglyille. This is while Tally is trying to decide whether she
wants to tell the Specials where Shay is, and turn pretty, or keep Shay s location a secret, and
stay ugly for life. Therefore, the statement Tally had it now, an excuse to break her vow. She d
made that promise to Peris, just as real, before she d ever met Shay. She had known him for
years, and Shay for only a few months shows that Tally has decided she would rather keep her
promise to Peris other than Shay (Westerfeld ) . After Peris s visit, Tally decides that she will
answer to Dr. Cable s ultimatum and go on to find out where Shay is, and turn her in. This is when
Tally heads for the Smoke as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tally realizes now that she was oblivious about what exactly she was doing before. She sees that
she would be ruining people s lives, not just Shay s runaway. This is when Tally starts wondering
whether she should activate the pendant or not. If Tally activated the tracker, it wouldn t just
mean the end of Shay s big adventure. It would be David s home taken from him, his whole life
stripped away. (Westerfeld ). This is a line from Ugliesthat takes place inside of Tally s mind
while she is debating whether she should give up the Smoke or not. If she did, all the trust that
David and Shay have in her would vanish, although she would be keeping her promise to

Umami Brain Case
1. What are the functions of the LGN, superior colliculus, and striate cortex in vision?
Lateral geniculate nucleus function is identical to a moving position for an express way. Axons
emerging into the LGN are identified, and their information is transmitted off to primary visual
cortex. LGN is the primary relay station for information streaming from eye to brain in the human
visual system.
Superior colliculus function is to locate the sources of sensory input in space. The lateral and
medial superior olives projects to the superior colliculus. It s deep layers are laid out according to a

As the taste system has evolved to detect the nutrients or toxins in foods previous to ingestion, it
is logic that fats would be sensed through taste. Additional macronutrients, namely carbohydrates
and proteins, are exposed through the tastes of sweet and umami. An increasing amount of
evidence from humans and other animal species provides support for this proposition. In
support for a functional significance of fat taste, differences in taste sensitivity for fat seems to
predict certain dietary behaviors. Furthermore, sensitivity to fat can be controlled by the diet.
The intake of a high fat diet appears to boost the body s capacity for fat absorption with no
changes in hungriness. This implies that such changes may accompany or foster excess fat
intake and obesity. These facts propose a direct role of the taste system in the consumption and
liking of high fat foods. The process allowing for increased consumption of fat is indicated to be
by fullness or satiety signals. In the following 5 10 years should finally uncover if fat can be
categorized as the sixth taste. In any case, there happens to be a functional significance to oral

Evolution And Natural Selection
Before the industrial revolution and the arrival of great scientists, mostly everybody on Earth
relied on origin myths and supernatural forces like God to explain the creation of our world
exactly as it is right now (HE). Little did they know that life on Earth is way more complex than
this... Until someone came up with a revolutionary theory: evolution. We are going to explore
together the concepts of evolution, natural selectionand its theory, and all the different types of
evidence for evolution there is at this moment compared to what Darwin had at his time.
Firstly, to begin with understanding evolution, we need to determine what it is, what triggers it and

The New Testament Saul
Freedom Through Christ
According to writings in the New Testament Saul was dedicated to the persecution of the early
disciples of Jesus in and around Jerusalem. In the book of Acts, chapter nine, it is stated that Saul
was traveling on the road from Jerusalem to Damascus on a mission to bring anyone of the
Christian faith bound to Jerusalem. As he traveled the resurrected Jesus appeared to him in a great
light, Saul was struck blind. After three days Ananias of Damascus restored his sight. This
transformed Saul of Tarsus into Paul the Apostle. Paul then began to preach that Jesus of Nazareth
was the Jewish Messiah and the Son of God. Paul s experience that turned him from persecutor to
apostle was a prophetic call and a direct encounter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through Paul s letters it is clear that freedom is an important theme. Paul concludes his claim of
the freedom of Abraham s descendants with for freedom Christ has set us free (Galatians 5:1).
Paul uses the idea of freedom to persuade the gentile Christians into understanding that they need
not enslave themselves to observing Torah. It was proposed to the Galatians that gentile
Christians be circumcised. Paul believed this to be an act that would undercut the freedom we
have in Christ Jesus and instead enslave us (Galatians 2:4). So in disagreement, Paul urges the
gentile Christians to stand firm against the ones who support their circumcision and that the
Galatians be burdened by a yoke of slavery (Galatians 5:1). Freedom then can become the idea
that salvation does not come from being aware of the obligations of Torah. Paul instead, preaches
the gospel of salvation by grace through faith. This becomes misinterpreted though, and leads
some to believe that sin is acceptable because they are not under law but under grace. The belief
that those who have faith in Jesus may live in any fashion without worry of being condemned as
sinners and it may even improve God s reputation as gracious and forgiving towards those who have
put their faith in Jesus. Paul s response to those who misunderstand his teachings this way is that
their condemnation is deserved (Romans 3:8). Through this, Paul

The Man Nobody Knows Essay
The Man Nobody Knows
The author of this book Bruce Barton was a partner in a successful advertising firm during the
1920 s. This was a time when the industry of advertising was under going some major changes.
These changes had a lot to do with a number of factors the first of which being the post war
prosperity this meant people had more money than they ever had before. Another one of these
factors had to do with the high number of teens who were now attending high school, this proved to
be important because it created a whole other market which hadn t existed before. One more factor
was the advances made in transportation and communication, these advances allowed goods,
people, and information to travel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Barton goes on to describe how the teacher had repeatedly stressed the need for him to love God
and Jesus, and how the boy had grown to be fear God. He also told us how the boy pictured Jesus
as the Lamb of God , which reminded him of Mary had a little lamb. This association between
Jesus and a children s song had made the boy think of Jesus as meek, and lowly and as a man of
sorrows and acquainted with grief (Barton prologue). Later in Barton s story the man grows up
and becomes a business man, and again finds him self confronted by Jesus, only now he is old
enough to read it for himself and this time he doesn t see Jesus as a weakling at all. Now he sees
him as a successful carpenter who is both mentally and physically strong as well as a great
leader. He also realizes the great feat Jesus has accomplished as well as the methods he used to
accomplish this feat. Methods Barton felt every business man should know about. Barton
concludes this explanation by telling us how he waited for someone to write a book relating Jesus
work to modern day business, and how when no one did he decided to write it himself. And with
that he set out to write what he called the story of the founder of modern business Jesus Christ.
At first glance Barton use of a parable seemed un important but as I read on I realized his intent in
using this

tract by emitting compounds to separate nourishment into its segment supplements. Subsequently
the salivary glands, liver, pancreasand gall bladder have critical tasks in the digestive framework.
Sustenance is pushed along the length of the gastrointestinal tract by peristaltic motions of the

In James Rachels’ Book, The Elements Of Moral Philosophy,
In James Rachels book, The Elements of Moral Philosophy, he explains many things in the ninth
chapter. He made statement about philosopher who decided the absolute moral rules. It explains in
the beginning, there s no definite answer for moral rules. Again, it s about belief, cultural, tradition
etc. Truman decision of dropping the bomb created conflict, some disagree and others agree.
Categorical imperativeand hypothetical imperativeare explained with Kant s conceptive on lying.
His argument about lying is back with universal law. There s conflict among Kant s argument, there
might be situation where lying might be necessary. Kant believe in responsibility of telling the truth
but not the lie.
In summary, in this chapter, Rachels uses... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because I think everyone had lie once in their lives or even a white lie. Cops can lie about being
a cop to should a crime. An example was lying is necessary. Was it necessary for Truman to drop
the bomb? Other wars and conflict had been won without dropping any bombs. Is there any correct
form of moral rules?
I read three quotes that caught my attention. Note that moral judgement must be backed by good
reasons if it true that you ought (or might not) to do such and such, then there must be a reason
why you should (or should not) do it, (Rachels and Rachels pg.135) Moral judgement is
classified in good reasons only. If a good reason is provided than it s okay to do it. The idea that
moral rules have no exception is hard to defend, (Rachels and Rachels pg.129) Moral rules are
different in many ways, so little can influence the outcome. At first Truman was reluctant to use the
new weapon. (Rachel and Rachel pg. 126) So, Truman didn t like the idea of killing off people
who were innocent. But with desperate measure, he made his mind up and agree.
There are many things I found relatable in the ninth chapter. Per Kant, lying is wrong and
shouldn t be done. I know there s many bad things in this world, but people still do it. I know my
diet isn t the best and my exercise effort isn t that good either. Being healthy is overall a great
challenge. Living in America, there s countless people who don t follow such a healthy lifestyle.
My family tries living a healthy

  • 2. Illegal Immigrants And Illegal Immigration Illegal immigration Over the past few years illegal immigration has become a bigger problem. Statistics reveal that more and more immigrants are entering the country illegally by crossing the borders. If something is not done soon, this may get out of hand and be to gone far not to handle. The number of illegal immigrants have gone up over the past years drastically In 2011, there were 40 million immigrants in the U.S. Of that 11.1 million were illegal. Although the number of illegal immigrants has leveled off it still is a continuing problem that should be attended to. In the next few years the number of illegal immigrants will continue to increase. United Nations reported that 97% of the illegal immigrants who enter the U.S. Clandestinely across the nearly 2,000 mile Mexico border, but only 20% of those are caught. This proves that our border is our weakest link of our security system . This proves that immigrants are crossing the border into the U.S. And getting away with it. To prevent this something needs to be done and improve and strengthen the the Mexico border soon. With more and more illegal immigrants entering the country, the number of immigrants will continue to climb and crime rates will rise also. • 3. Trancendentalism in The Call of the Wild, by Jack London... This need for transcendentality is real and strong, especially in the two novels The Call of the Wild, by Jack London and Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer. Transcendentalism is the belief that thought and spiritual experience is more important than everyday experiences and material belongings. The main character in the call of the wild is buck, a dog forced into trancendality as he was kidnapped and handed a brutal northern life. The main character in Into the wildis Chris McCandless, a young man who chooses the call of nature over modern society, also demonstrating transcendentalism. The protagonists, Chris McCandless and Buck, exhibit their transcendentality in conflicting yet converging ways including the specific occurrences which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Chris goes to live in alaska in a final attempt to purify his ideological views by indulging in nature and spurning society. The transformation in Buck caused by his transcendental turn is almost totally positive. At the beginning of the novel he was soft, pampered, and mentally inactive. The Big Read, an internet site which provides a wonderful overview of The Call of the Wild, brings to light, In addition to cunning, patience, and strength, Buck s greatest quality allows him to fight by both cunning and insight. (Call of the Wild 1). With this newfound ability to fight and evade tough situations, Buck buys the time to learn the ways of the north completely, eventually surpassing the dogs around him. The only negative effect this had on Buck was that his moral nature quickly deteriorated. This was necessary. Without the ability to be transcendental, Buck could not have survived his new environment. Chris McCandless s transcendental experience was both positive and negative depending on which party is being asked. Chris believed that his experience as a whole was unsurpassable to an extent, that is until he realized his end fate. Chris left society on his own accord, and so he expectedly was ecstatic to be in the wild. However, the friends, family and acquaintances who had met Chris try to find reason in this apparently unnecessary death such as this justification from the novel, Danger has always held ... Most of them are made up intended for humour and fame however there are loads out there which provide physical evidence proving the truth behind it. Not everything said by the government makes sense therefore maybe the government shouldn t be trusted? So instead of trusting them, I decided to go over a few conspiracies. How about the most recent one? The outbreak of Ebola. I strongly believe that Ebola virus is a bioweapon, this is because the US government know there are more demands than supplies and they cannot handle it, financially. Proposition 3: Teachers motivate, manage, and monitor student learning. Indicator 3b: Teachers manage the learning environment by engaging students and organizing instruction. Indicator 3c: Teachers use multiple methods of for monitoring and measuring student understanding and make informed decisions about instruction. After examining the Understanding by Design framework by Grant Wiggins and Jay McTighe, I have learned how to develop a unit by working backwards. The development of a unit is multi layered in its focus on curriculum, instruction, and assessment. In planning I need to first assess what the big ideas are that I want my students to learn and why they are important. In our study of Mesopotamia, we look at how our world began with the first civilization and the achievements that led to advances throughout history. The big ideas framed as understandings that I want my students to know are that the locations of civilizations and city states in relation to specific landforms affect development and technology achievements can benefit society in a variety of areas. Then I look at what essential questions are raised and what I want students to know and be able to do. The framework looks to deepen student understanding and transfer that understanding of knowledge and skill into a performance task and other evidence of formative and summative ... Double Indemnity Essay In Double Indemnity , to depict the characteristics of the femme fatale named Dietrichson in different plots, the combination of various representational ways is necessary. Hanson Helen and O Rawe Catherine analyze many plots of this movie and list them in their book named The Femme Fatale: Images, Histories, Contexts . Take one representational method as an example, In this plot which shows the conversation between Dietrichson and Neff, audiences just can hear Dietrichson s voices and all of her gestures and facial expressions are hidden by the shadow, at the same time, Walter appearance can be seen clearly (Hanson Helen, O Rawe Catherine). This innovative way is used to highlight their different standpoints, in fact, the movie shows Dietrichson always manipulates the progress of the crime and controls Neff s affection for her plan. In another words, Walter is in the light, meanwhile, Dietrichson is in darkness. Additionally, This movie uses this method for transforming the threat into a secret to foreshadow their tragic results (Hanson Helen, O Rawe Catherine). Background Jaap Schekkerman, the founder of IFEAD s, developed the Extended Enterprise Architecture Framework (E2AF) in the early 2000 s. The E2AF is a communication framework that is a blended framework which takes standards from IEEE 1471, describes views and viewpoints of an architecture from a software intensive system and elements of FEAF and TOGAF and a matrix structure similar to Zachman. E2AF is an architecture program that describes subjects and relations with all key stakeholders. It helps address the topics and process steps needed to reach an organizations overall goals and objectives (Schekkerman, 2006). The rules and principles of E2AF are the fundamental elements when utilizing IFEAD s architectural philosophy. The visualization translated by the principles and rules help express the style of architecture. In addition, the principles and rules are related to both the context of the architecture, the methods and approaches. In turn, the approaches help define and describe the process roadmap for an architecture. Schekkerman designed the framework to address the elements of construction, function and style (Schekkerman, 2006). In particular, the enterprise deals with the function and construction and the culture (including values and norms) deals with the style. Twelfth Night Criticism William Shakespeare and The Twelfth Night Known for his tragedies, comedies, sonnets and love stories, William Shakespeare is argued to be one of the best writers of his time. Throughout his plays, including The Twelfth Night, he uses disguise and deceit to fool the other characters to benefit another. Shakespeare was born in April of 1564 in the town Stratford upon Avon. Although the exact date of his birth is not known, historians traditionally celebrate it on the 23rd. He was one of eight children born to John Shakespeare, a well known merchant in his community. This mounting identity crisis culminates in the final scene, when Viola finds herself surrounded by people who each have a different idea of who she is and are unaware of who she actually is. Were Twelfth Nightnot a comedy, this pressure might cause Viola to break down. Sebastian s appearance at this point, however, effectively saves Viola by allowing her to be herself again. Sebastian, who independent of his sister is not much of a character, takes over the aspects of Viola s disguise that she no longer wishes to maintain. Thus liberated by her brother, Viola is free to shed the roles that she has accumulated throughout the play, and she can return to being Viola, the woman who has loved and won Orsino. Both claim to be buffeted by strong emotions, but both ultimately seem to be self indulgent individuals who enjoy melodrama and self involvement more than anything. They both had huge ideas that to some people would have seemed impossible and the desire to achieve them. The only difference was which side of the humanistic scale they were on. Essentially, the tactics hidden underneath of the facades were exactly the same: Burnham s dream being the fair, and Holmes s dream being a hotel which he could successfully lure women into and kill them without suspicion. Throughout the novel there are many examples of buildings and projects that Burnham had to complete. During the process of building each one there were always challenges that he had to overcome. Before the fair, Burnham and his partner Root were commissioned to build the Montauk. This building had to face a common problem for Chicago: the foundation. There was already a common solution for the problem; however, this building did not have a usual design and required a basement that could not be filled with stone pyramids as the usual design would have made it. Instead, he came up with a better solution that involved a floating foundation, and seemed to fulfill its purpose. The Montauk became the first building to be called a skyscraper. Since Holmes was not building a skyscraper and instead a three story hotel, he did not have the same issue. Instead, he faced another common problem: money. Though he was not poor, he was only a pharmacist and wished to be able to pay for the construction of a building that would cover the entire block. Just like Burnham, he came ... Out of the silent planet Out of the silent planet by C.S Lewis is a novel that denotes the difference between the social system on planet earth and the planet Malacandra. In Malacandra, groups live in harmony with one another and complement each other. On earth, the social system is brutal and evil. The novel is a science fiction that covers Dr. Ransoms (major character) adventures and encounters on a planet that is entirely different from earth. Ransoms lands into this planet by accident after being kidnapped by two evil men (Devine and Weston) and transported to the planet Malacandra (Mars) by spacecraft. This is different to what happens on earth where groups are in constant dominance wars, often breaking into factions that regard each other as inherently inferior. The kidnappers, Devine and Weston represent this dominance character of Earthly beings. On earth, people are self centered and do not care for each other. In contrast, On Malacandra, various species live and work together (Gibbons 88). There three intelligent species in Malacandra and their differences of knowledge is their strength. The pfifltriggi excavate and makes things out of their excavation, the Seroni are the master of knowledge and the hrossa were poets (Lewis, 68). Even with these different talents, there is no group that wants to dominate the other. They know that they have differences but have accepted them since they can talk to each other, they can cooperate, and they have the same ethics (Lewis 156). The leadership system on earth is also different from the other planets. Unlike the earth, all the other planets have a structured leadership; they have a ruler (Oyarsa). The earth is unruly because people have no common Oyarsa and this makes people bent. Everyone on earth wants to be a little Oyarsa himself (Lewis 102). A second tour by Irving four years later produced an equally unsatisfactory mention in the Mail, prompting an outraged young Stoker to march into the offices of the newspaper and offer himself for the unpaid position of theater critic. He got the job, and as a result, when Irving (now a star of the London stage) returned to Dublin a third time, this time to star in Hamlet, Stoker had the opportunity to set down in print glowing praises of his favorite actor. Irving read the review and was delighted to the extent that he invited the young critic to supper at his hotel, and began a friendship that would last for almost thirty years. Captain Christopher Newport led three ships, the Susan Constant, Godspeed, and Discovery. They named both the river and their colony after King James I of England (Jamestown 28). They did not want to leave England completely or they would not have named those two things after him. Many researchers approach this topic by focusing on the effect that high nurse to patient ratios have on patient outcomes often called nurse specific indicators . The following includes a summary of five recent studies conducted on the cause and effect relationship between high nurse to patient ratios and the increased occurrence of nurse specific indicators (e.g. urinary tract infection, patient falls, central line associated blood stream infections, etc). California passed Assembly Bill 394, making them the first state to pass a law that required hospitals to limit the amount of patients included in a nurse s workload. The California Assembly Bill 394 (AB394) was put into effect on January 1, 2004. In 2012 a study was conducted to determine if mandated nurse to patient ratios actually had a positive impact on patient outcomes. This study examined medical/surgical units in California hospitals. The data used to compare outcomes before and after passing AB394 was from the year 2000 2002 for the before data. The after data was from the years 2005 2006 (Cook, Gaynor, Stephens, Taylor, 2012). Any chance of winning meant the Germans would have to make a stand. Hitler discussed his strategy with his top generals. While they agreed that capturing the city of Antwerp, a major Allied supply hub, would inflict a devastating blow to the Allied Forces, they disagreed with Hitler s plan of assaulting through the heavily wooded area of the Ardennes. Furthermore, the plan was to attack under the protection of poor weather to mitigate the use of Allied airpower, which was a major Allied advantage. Hitler believed that a complex assault would catch Allied commanders off guard causing them to be slow to react. The Allied lines were spread very thin in the Ardennes, even to the point of an average of 73 men per mile. • 33. The, Taoist, And Aristotelian Views On The Soul s... Does the soul exist? If so, what is the soul? Moreover, what is its function in daily life? For millennia, schools of philosophy have investigated these questions and attempted to answer them by devising complex philosophies, which were in some cases completely alien to our modern ideas. In this essay, I will discuss the Egyptian, Taoist, and Aristotelian views on the souls function and composition during life. Then, I will compare these philosophies and discuss which aspects of each philosophy I find the most plausible from a realist s point of view. Concerning the composition and function of the soul, I argue that the Aristotelian and Taoist philosophies are equally plausible, but that the Egyptian philosophy also had plausible aspects. Ultimately, however, it is difficult to determine which theory the most plausible (from a realist s perspective) without tackling the bigger question does the soul exist? The ancient Egyptians were soul dualists, meaning that they believed that a person had two or more souls (in this case nine).1 In Egypt, one of the main purposes of the nine souls was to help the deceased reach the afterlife. 2 In fact, the Egyptians believed that some souls only existed after death, but I will not discuss these in this paper. Instead, I will focus on the role of the soul during one s life. The Egyptians identified six souls that were present during life: Khabit, Ba, Khat, Ib, and Ren.3 The Khabit was considered a shadow that could detach itself ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Spectroscopy started in 1666 when Sir Isaac Newton passed rays of light from the sun through a glass prism and observed the colours of the visible spectrum, another great breakthrough concerning spectroscopy was the suggestion of transition between energy levels within atoms as the source of spectral lines was great contribution made by Niels Bohr in 1913. At the end of the nineteenth century, spectroscopy was limited to the absorption, emission, and the scattering of visible, ultraviolet, and infrared electromagnetic radiation. However, during the twentieth century, spectroscopy was extended to include other forms of electromagnetic radiation including photo spectroscopy e.g X rays, microwaves, and radio waves, as well as particle spectroscopy. As the taste system has evolved to detect the nutrients or toxins in foods previous to ingestion, it is logic that fats would be sensed through taste. Additional macronutrients, namely carbohydrates and proteins, are exposed through the tastes of sweet and umami. An increasing amount of evidence from humans and other animal species provides support for this proposition. In support for a functional significance of fat taste, differences in taste sensitivity for fat seems to predict certain dietary behaviors. Furthermore, sensitivity to fat can be controlled by the diet. The intake of a high fat diet appears to boost the body s capacity for fat absorption with no changes in hungriness. This implies that such changes may accompany or foster excess fat intake and obesity. These facts propose a direct role of the taste system in the consumption and liking of high fat foods. The process allowing for increased consumption of fat is indicated to be by fullness or satiety signals. Through Paul s letters it is clear that freedom is an important theme. Paul concludes his claim of the freedom of Abraham s descendants with for freedom Christ has set us free (Galatians 5:1). Paul uses the idea of freedom to persuade the gentile Christians into understanding that they need not enslave themselves to observing Torah. It was proposed to the Galatians that gentile Christians be circumcised. Paul believed this to be an act that would undercut the freedom we have in Christ Jesus and instead enslave us (Galatians 2:4). So in disagreement, Paul urges the gentile Christians to stand firm against the ones who support their circumcision and that the Galatians be burdened by a yoke of slavery (Galatians 5:1). Freedom then can become the idea that salvation does not come from being aware of the obligations of Torah. Paul instead, preaches the gospel of salvation by grace through faith. This becomes misinterpreted though, and leads some to believe that sin is acceptable because they are not under law but under grace. The belief that those who have faith in Jesus may live in any fashion without worry of being condemned as sinners and it may even improve God s reputation as gracious and forgiving towards those who have put their faith in Jesus. Paul s response to those who misunderstand his teachings this way is that their condemnation is deserved (Romans 3:8). Through this, Paul ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This association between Jesus and a children s song had made the boy think of Jesus as meek, and lowly and as a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief (Barton prologue). Note that moral judgement must be backed by good reasons if it true that you ought (or might not) to do such and such, then there must be a reason why you should (or should not) do it, (Rachels and Rachels pg.135) Moral judgement is classified in good reasons only.
