Positive And Negative Effects Of Alcoholism
Alcohol is present throughout society and everyday life. It is often referenced in the media, through
songs, television, and movies. Unlike during the Prohibition Era, in today s society, alcohol is
typically viewed positively, due to the strong influence of commercials promoting alcohol. The
positive advertisement of alcohol makes it intriguing and tempting. This intrigue, combined with the
overall promotion of alcohol in today s society, leads to adults and even teenagers becoming more
adventurous with trying alcohol. One negative side of alcohol consumption, alcoholism, is not
discussed as often. Alcoholism is a disorder that involves a person s ability to control his or her
alcohol consumption. Often, alcoholics suffer from over consumption of alcohol or a dependency on
it. Alcoholism affects 17.6 million Americans, which is roughly 1 in every 12 adults (Wilcox). There
are many effects of alcoholism that involve more than just one person. Alcoholism affects the health,
social interactions and relationships, and finance of its victim. The most clear effect alcoholism has is
the health issues that result from it. Excessive alcohol consumption can affect many major organs, as
well as the immune system. Often times, alcoholism leads to the development of other diseases or
disorders in the heart, liver, and pancreas. For example, alcoholism can cause cardiomyopathy, which
is the stretching and drooping of heart muscle , steatosis, which is excess fat on the liver, and

Minimum Wage Is An Issue That Is Causing Uproar Amongst...

Minimum wage is an issue that is causing uproar amongst working class citizens. For many workers, a
simple increase of 30% in the federal minimum wage could be the difference between living in or out
of poverty. Over the past few decades there have been countless increases in salaries, although none of
those went to people who actually needed it. To this day the rich continue to get richer, vastly
increasing their wealth, while the poor are struggling to provide basic necessities such as food, shelter,
and clothing. While the rich keep get richer and the poor continue getting poorer, we have seen a
decrease in the middle class; median income has turned into upper or lower middle class. Establishing
legislation that provides workers with a wage that is able to sustain simple necessities is necessary, it
would provide ample support for those who may not have been able to afford living to take a step
away from poverty and move into the middle class.
The minimum wage was set with the passage of The Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 (FLSA). Its
initial price point was $0.25 per hour, and it has been raised twenty two times since. It allowed for
federal protections against employers like minimum wage, overtime pay for time worked over a set
number of hours in a workweek, restrictions on the employment of children, and recordkeeping
requirements (uc davis). In that year, the act applied to industries whose

The Baroque Style Of The 19th Century
Social: In 17th century large numbers of artists traveled to Rome to develop themselves, to work and
study and Nicolas Poussin born in French spend significant time I Rome as well. Rome attracted the
young artists not only with the many regulations that being extended by the Church but with the
opportunity to learn from the past masters I art. Most of the 17th century was dominated by the
baroque style, whose expressive power was well appropriate to the needs of the Counter Reformation
Church for affecting images. The baroque style develop around 1600 in Rome before spreading across
Europe. It was encouraged and influenced and by the Catholic Church, which used it to propaganda
religious themes, war images, and aristocrats who appreciated the high spirits. The art of the time
focused on showing natural images, intense emotions exaggerated through the play of light and
shadow. Baroque style had a purpose to glorifying the church and monarchy by dramatic images and
scenes (Seventeenth Century Art, par. 1)
Economic: In 17th century new concepts in banking were in play allowing for an increase in the
monetary supply. Advances in agriculture meant more grain, so even the poorest had at the very least
bread. Because of developing the trade system the Italian States were very rich, it was an age of
expansion in commerce and industry. Baroque style developed in that era had the purpose to show the
power and the greatness of the Church and Monarchs standing behind it. Baroque

Speech About Corruption In The Philippines
Opening Sentences: Corruption has always been one of the major problems of the world especially in
politics. It has caused political fights, undermines democracy and good governance by flouting or
even subverting formal processes for each other or just put in every penny in their pocket from their
own countrymen without them even knowing it. In order to stop these incidents the people should be
more educated in the world of politics so that they can be aware and stop the spread of corruption in
the government. The Philippines is no stranger to these problems The Philippines has always been in
constant strife against corruption and through the years has made a number of political scandals or
incidents that the government never seemed to solve ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That is why the people should act as one sharing their values but also wanting them to be achieved. If
we want to stop corruption in the Philippines, we should stop all corruptions that are happening inside
the Philippines. We should fight all the corrupt Filipinos, whether they are politicians or they are just
simply our fellow countrymen. To the Filipinos these are the values that should be made real. Like
stopping the spread of corruption in the government. The government cannot work without the people
and vice versa it is a relationship that should work both ways and the two parties meeting halfway or
reaching in a understanding because it would be impossible to stop corruption alone. (John, 2010) And
by doing this we become more aware of corruption in our government officials and the public can help
the government by reporting them and showing disapproval or shunning the corrupt politicians out of
the government. (Martinez, 1999) Corruption deprives the Philippines to move up and achieve

Odysseus Disguise In O Brother Where Art Thou
In the film O Brother, Where Art Thou?, the moment when Everett disguises himself as an elderly
musician to see his wife parallels the moment in The Odyssey when Odysseus disguises himself as a
beggar before seeing his wife whom he has been distanced from for far too long. As people gather in
the banquet kitchen hall, Everett, Pete, and Delmar walk up onto the stage disguised as old men with
long beards, convincing the past act that they are up next. This is crazy. No one s ever gonna believe
we re a real band. Everett insists that his plan will work, saying, I just gotta get close enough to talk to
her. Likewise, Odysseus is in disguise when meeting face to face with Penelope for the first time in
over twenty years. [Pallas Athena] has

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
Background Information
1. Outline the major symptoms of the disorder discussed in the case. The major symptoms of Attention
Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) are problems with attention; in this area the child seems to
ignore detail, they are easily distracted, and they are unable to complete tasks. The next symptom is
hyperactive behavior; in this area the child is restless and unable to sit quietly. The third area or
symptom is called excessive impulsivity, in this stage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
ADHD symptoms usually appear early in life, often between the ages of 3 and 6 (NIMH, 2006, pp. 5).
Some factors that contribute to predisposition of ADHD can be attributed to cultural factors (both
psychological and biological), inherited factors, or genetic factors. Researchers are really focused on
the gene factor that can make the person more likely to have ADHD (Faraone, S.V., Perlis, R.H.,
Doyle, A.E., Smoller, J.W., Goralnick, J.J, Holmgren, M.A., Sklar, P., 2005, Khan, S.A., Faraone, S.V.,
2006) . Studies also look into how a preschooler can possibly have ADHD by being exposed to lead in
plumbing at a high level or from the painting in old buildings (NIMH, 2006, pp. 4).
Observations
1. Describe symptoms that you observed that support the diagnosis of the individual. During the
interview, David showed signs of hyperactivity. He was fidgeting and caused the interviewers to
become nervous around him. David can be seen doing flips over and over again on his trampoline,
which shows us just how hyperactive he really is. David is unable to focus for more than a few
minutes and his peers ostracize him for his hyperactivity. He also distracts himself with little noises
and talks to himself as well as daydreams, which shows disruptive behavior. David has a difficult time
studying and says the words jump around on the page. He also has difficulty in expressing good
judgment and gets very excitable

Marilyn Manson Research Paper
For my paper I thought I would look into someone who was daring and has always kept people
guessing. He has become highly known for his outrageous outfits and on stage frolics, both have
earned him a legion of fans and just as many protesters. Marilyn Manson, born Brian Hugh Warner on
January 5, 1969, in Canton, Ohio, has been one of the most controversial American goth rock
performer that has been protested and boycotted because of his perceived dark views. Yet genius in his

The United States should have Universal Health Care

The United States should have Universal Health Care
Virtually 50 million Americans are presently without any health insurance, and a great number of
them with health insurance are struggling to pay for their medical bills. Everybody concurs that
healthcare must be accessible to all citizens, but the debate on whether the United States should adopt
a universal health system still rages. According to the Institute of Medicine (2002), the U.S. is the only
developed country that does not guarantee that its citizens have health care coverage. President Obama
pledged to reform the country s healthcare system by increasing health coverage and ... Show more

Moreover, there are already existing laws in the country that demand emergency rooms for patients if
they lack any insurance. This expenses the hospital finance that they convey to clients and insurance
firms. Under universal health care program, those people that usually go without insurance cover
would be demanded to pay for it through taxes. This concept of cost distribution would reduce the
individual costs of people currently paying for insurance. It is worth noting that this system of taxation
resembles the shared costs of schooling, road construction, or even space exploration (Burke, Diego
Semelka, 2012).
Opponents of universal healthcare system assert that the program would be damaging to the quality of
health services, although researchers have established that the country s healthcare structure is not
superior to those of various developed countries that offer universal health care (Garber Skinner,
J2008). In relation to the same research, the United States is ranked second last in terms of the number
of practicing physicians. Moreover, the country has less than the normal number of hospital beds and
period of stay for severe care. The expense of the country s healthcare per individual is $8,000 more

Outline Of Proposal Administration Information
Basically, a RFP always has its time limitation and this depends on the size of project. The more it will
take longer time that is a hard and long term project, or it will not take long for just a simple project.
Proposal administration information gathers all information for people who are involve can overview
and evaluate the project including dates of process, all requirements needed, contacts, addresses,
phone numbers, or email, etc. This part of RFP is very important. It keeps the suppliers moving
forward in a timely manner with all clear information, for sure that they will overlook important
meetings or milestone so they can adjust or negotiate to get the best agreement. Also with proposal
administration, suppliers will know if it is clear or not, possible or impossible, so they can help to
adjust or give the idea to make the project more perfectly. Actually, proposal administration
summaries all the entail data from conception to completion. This requirement is an essential process
which can provide clear information for all candidates to make sure they can evaluate and give the
decision if they are attending to a fair competitive proposal process. On the other hand, if there is a
conflict between cooperators because of disagreement or any problems while negotiating, the project
may be failure and this will lead to rejecting. Therefore, they both sides have to work together
carefully to make finally decision because this involves in rules and if the rules

No Love for Animals in Sea World
Charles Darwin once said, the love for all living creatures is the most noble attribute of man. If only
Darwin had been alive to witness the secrets of the well known marine mammal theme park known as
SeaWorld, he would have been as appalled as many have been discovering these hidden secrets. One
of the major issues with SeaWorld is animal captivity. It serves as a profitable way for people to see
and enjoy wild animals, but through the captivity it can transform harmless animals into violent,
agitated monsters in some cases. The defenseless animals, such as the killer whales at Seaworld, are
deprived of their family, lives and freedom, which can lead to exceptional aggression. Many people
that visit SeaWorld or know of the theme park believe that it is just a welcoming marina and a great
place to take family to see wild animals and the remarkable shows that the killer whales present.
Clearly many people do not realize the truth behind what SeaWorld is doing to these poor animals. For
starters, captive marine animals are robbed of most everything that is natural to them such as living in
a family pod and swimming up to a hundred miles each day. Obviously these necessities cannot be
met within the small enclosures where the killer whales live. Another less known fact about SeaWorld
is that it lowers animals life spans quite drastically. Orca whales live on an average of thirty to fifty
years in the wild and some can live to ninety, but the average age for orcas in

Compare And Contrast Rome And Grecians
Religion and government played an important role in lives of Grecians and Romans during ancient
times. Both nations were polytheistic and militaristic, however only Rome switched to Christianity,
broke up, (rather than collapsed), after national conflict and was centralized. Both Grecians and
Romans were polytheistic. Because Greece and Rome were two of the earliest civilizations, the
ignorance of this earlier time prevailed. People were unsure of why certain events could occur, (like
the rising and setting of a sun), and set out to delegate a position and meaning for all of the Gods they
dreamed up. Failure to appease these Gods would result in punishment. For example the sun wouldn t

The Theme Of Social Class And Order
The Underlying Theme of Social Class and Order
In literature, themes are carefully interwoven with other aspects of the story and are slowly unraveled
as the plot advances to reveal to bigger picture. Authors use themes as a method to connect with their
audience on a personal and relatable level. Each individual interprets the theme in their own manner
depending on the past experiences they have had. Similarly, each author brings a sense of individuality
and authenticity to their works, impacting their subject matter and area of focus, in this case
specifically the theme. The Time Machine by H.G. Wells is a science fiction novel in which the Time

An author s background is a prime factor in the subject of a book. H.G. Wells humble upbringing and
political beliefs can easily be discerned through the writing. Wells grew up in poverty during the late
19th century in Kent, Great Britain, causing him to become interested in class conflict. His socialist
views come across in The Time Machine as it is his way to show the consequences of excessive
capitalism, thus the theme of social class and order emerges. Wells uses evolution as a form to
vindicate and reason the extreme schism of classes present in the book. The Time Traveller, which
seems to be an extension of Wells persona, implies the exclusive tendency of richer people [...] and the
widening gulf between them and the rude violence of the poor was a key factor in the splitting of the
human species along class lines, a direct hit on capitalism (Wells 62). The Elois or the Haves , live

between each class. For instance, the Eloi are focused on beauty and comfort, and are content on
living upon the labours of fellowman , while the Morlocks assumed the role of the worker, relying on

Rebellion In Dante s Inferno And Henry II
Rebellion has always been a part of the human experience, the past is full of rebellions, and currently
there are numerous books about rebellions and rebels, also, you can turn to any news station and hear
about a rebellion that is happening somewhere in the world. But something that is not as often thought
about is what are the repercussions of those rebellions? Additionally, why exactly did those
individuals rebel? Within the Inferno as well as the chronicle of letters between Thomas Becket and

authority figures; they rebel because they will do anything in order to gain things in the present, or,
because they believe it is the only way to do the right thing. Within Dante s Inferno, there are

beliefs are considered right or wrong. Consider the rebellion in Ferguson, Missouri after multiple
officer involved shootings happened. The overall cause of these rebellions is the people of Ferguson s
trouble with the decisions those in authority made. In the same way as Thomas Becket, those in
Ferguson are rebelling against something they believe in their hearts to be wrong, and unjust. By
contrast, consider also the terrorist group ISIS, similarly, like the sinners in Inferno, the members of
ISIS rebel against the Syrian government, as well as numerous other governments (including the
United States government and the Iraqi government), in order to get whatever they want in the present
moment, no matter what the consequences may

The Origins of Voodoo Essay
The Origins of Voodoo Voodoo is a religion rich in heritage and founded in faith and community. The
religion has been villainized by western culture and has been wrongly portrayed as malignant and
dangerous. The religion is not founded in any of the (known) black magics or fear popularized by
Hollywood films, but rather it is based on balance and tradition. The religion is not something that
should be encountered with inhibition or fear induced from childhood horror stories, but embraced for
its strength and history. Voodoo originated as an amalgam of African religions during the slave trade.
As slaves were shipped from Africa to the Caribbean, groups of slaves sharing a similar heritage were
broken apart to prevent any sense of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the three centuries of religious oppression, voodoo became a symbol of pride and independence for
the slaves. Any pride in a slave is, of course, regarded as a threat to the slave owner. Rumors of human
sacrifice and devil worship became prevalent in the social circles of plantation owners and slave
traders. These statements had no validity, but traveled quickly throughout the Caribbean and America.
The practitioners of voodoo embraced this fear as means to frighten their former masters and gain
some respect in a world where they were deprived of everything. Former slave owners quickly found
themselves duped into the beliefs of voodoo dolls and hexes. Of course, many slave owners simply
killed their slaves rather than be frightened by the voodoo. The practice itself is not actually
frightening or powerful in any way, but that doesn?t matter to superstitious folks like those in Salem.
No historical evidence of human sacrifice or affiliation with Satan has been discovered (Voodoo), or
likely ever will be. Primary religions involved in the African aspect of voodoo are Macumba and
Candomble of the Yoruba people of Nigeria, and several now extinct tribes from the Congos and
Cameroon. These religions lay the groundwork for the course of religious ceremonies and contain the
origins for the deities worshipped in modern voodoo. Voodoo?s principle deity, Olorun is the voodoo
equivalent to God. Though the name can be traced to the Yoruba tribe, it is unknown if

Essay On Electroconvulsive Therapy
Electroconvulsive Therapy Poster
Introduction:
Electroconvulsive therapy or also known as ECT are electric current or shocks firing in the human
brain to cause a small seizure. The seizure can affect or change the brain activity into a positive way; it
can reduce the symptoms of the illness the patient might be experiencing. ECT is usually used as a last
resort of treatment for most people, because there s a risk the treatment might not work or it causes
severe side effects. For this reason, the treatment is only for people who have severe mental illnesses
and that are nonresponsive to pharmacotherapy or psychoanalytic therapy.
Why ECT Performed?

Also, most teenagers are students. They are probably facing a lot of pressure for their academic
performance. These ideas could explain that most teenage drug abusers came from inharmonic
families or performed badly in school. Perhaps, they are just trying to have a moment of peace. If we
want to tackle the problem of teenage drug abuse, we have to deal with the base of the problem, the
inharmonic families or the high pressure from school work.
Causes of Abuse and Difficulties of Giving Up The causes of teenage drug abuse are mainly the
inquisitiveness, desire of high feeling, peer effect and negative emotions of the abusers according to
the article. The intentions of several respondents using cough syrup A K are being found out through
interviews and thorough study of their cases. For many of those interviewees, they start taking drugs
because they are interested in the feeling of taking drugs. Usually, they will get a high feeling when
they take drugs. This feeling is a main reason for the teenage drug abuse. Many teenagers have an
emotion of sadness from their parents, schools and friends. They want to release the bad feeling
through these means. The high feeling from the drugs make the teenagers get addicted. Moreover, the
peer influence is another major reason. They don t want to be teased as weak and cowardly. Even

The Chosen Ones By Pablo Neruda Analysis
Resuscitation Pablo Neruda s poem The Chosen Ones is a perfect incorporation of torment and
influence, acting to sadden as well as impact the reader to influence further action against intolerance.
Neruda uses allusion when referencing the years of events of significant suffering that are important in
Cuban and world history, recalling his own first hand experiences himself, and the significance of
understanding these dates and events. Neruda uses a tone that is volatile, characterized by an increase
in imagery, especially of death and violence, as the piece goes on. Neruda uses a couplet at the end to
shift the poem from lengthy description of violence and death, to a sardonic reference of those who
were killed, operating as a call to action. This poem uses allusion, tone, and personification to
exemplify violence as a result of prejudice and their legacy forgotten. Neruda s use of historical
allusion is significant as several dates mentioned are specific examples of genocide, especially as a
result of hatred towards complex institutions of race, nationality, and religion. In this piece Neruda
references several dates: 1925, 1926, 1933, 1940, 1918, 1905, and thousands of nineteen hundreds
(Neruda,1). Each date representative of a significantly negative event in world history; However
several dates also coincide with important years in Cuban history. For example, in the year 1925,
Gerardo Machado was elected Cuba s president, he would resist the rise of a healthy labor movement,
which he would enforce using deportation and police brutality. Cuba s economic downfall would lead
to uprisings in the future, all ultimately having Cuban legislature and law enforcement being taken
advantage of, while at the same time several mass killings world arise before crimes against humanity
would be identified and prosecuted at the International Military Tribunal in Nuremberg. Neruda s first
hand experiences with oppression and fascism growing up in Cuba allowed many to learn from the
Chilean because he offered a way of identifying with the masses and engaging the problems of society
(Pettingell, 3). Neruda s use of allusion allows the hatred from these mass killings to be tied in with
the selfishness and extortion of

Lutheran Religion
For my extra credit project, I went to the Lutheran church in my hometown. I was raised and
confirmed in the Methodist church, so my experience this Sunday was a little different than most of
my Sundays. I learned that there are more differences between the two then I expected. I honestly did
not think that another religion based on Christianity would be that different. Before the service, I did a
little bit of research of the Lutheran church. I wanted to know what the actual definition of a Lutheran
was, I found a website that gave me some insight. According to the website, A Lutheran is a person
who believes, teaches and confesses the truths of God s Word as they are summarized and confessed
in the Book of Concord ( http://bookofconcord.org,2017). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No matter the denomination, Lutherans emphasize details of the ceremony more than we do at the
Methodist church. Because of the fact that I am not a member of the Lutheran church or LCMS, I was
not allowed to receive communion. I thought that this was strange because Methodists believe in an
open communion instead of a closed one and our pastor always says everyone is welcome at God s
table. The worship consisted mostly of reading the traditional liturgy. This seemed a lot less personal
than the worship services that I am used to. A lot of the service also took place moving from standing
to sitting and back again. Without following visual cues, it would be very hard to understand exactly
what you were supposed to do at different points within the service if you were new or unfamiliar with
Lutheran traditions. Another thing that really stood out to me was the idea that after the service, you
had to wait to be dismissed before leaving the sanctuary. They dismissed by row to ensure that you
had time to talk to the pastor after worship without being too rushed. Overall it was a great experience
and I learned a lot talking to members of the church. I learned a lot about how traditional and related
to catholicism the Lutheran church actually is. It was fun to get to learn that even though the Lutheran
church and the methodist church are Christian churches, they really are

How to Go Broke
Going broke is a very tedious and cumbersome activity, which requires constant vigilance and tireless
effort. Although many have accomplished this feat on their own, many of us require some form of
guidance. This serves as the quintessential handbook of how to get broke; it shall be called The House
of Cards Insolvency Process Guide. To begin, it is critical to limit the term broke as financially
bankrupt. Although at times broke can refer to moral emptiness or may even be used to describe both
pecuniary and personal ruin, we limit our definition strictly to fiscal failure. Before we delve into the
step by step guidelines on achieving one s bankruptcy, certain foundations are suggested to be laid out
in order to facilitate the process. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Internal And External Factors Of A Company
Internal and external factors Dyne and Pierce (2008) explained that there are many factors which are
inducing a change process in a company, as employees at all levels of organisational hierarchy are the
agents of change though they are also barriers to it. Change happens when the forces of external
environment are forcing to change existing circumstances. So companies wanting to change when
there is fall in market share, new product has been launched, which is caught in the environmental
scan. Managers therefore will try to stay of competition, may lead to analysing own strengths,
weakness, opportunities and threats. This leads to understanding what capabilities and competencies

These elements like communication pattern, delegation of tasks, leadership style are barriers when

Acceptance and adoption of a new work method may find no employees as it conflicts with their

Teacher Professionalism Essay
Teacher Professionalism and the Vocational Culture of Teaching
Teaching has never been recognised as a profession mainly because of its inability to promote and
demonstrate a distinctive expertise (Beck, 2008). The status of teaching has always been seen as an
uncertain position, according to Etzioni, he characterised it as one of the semi professions (Etzioni,
1969). Teaching definitely struggled to get the same degree of professional independency as
professions like medicine and law (Braun, 2012). The concept and multiple meanings of teacher
professionalism has changed in relation to historical, political and social contexts. It has developed
over time between rival groups and their interest (Hilferty, 2008). The term professionalism is very
difficult to define and as it is used in different senses. The term is mainly used to define the status of
occupation groups in terms of morality (Kennedy, 2007). So in the business world the term
professionalism is defined as success .
Teaching in England has long been fragmented profession. It is cross cut by actual and perceived
internal differences of status which are in part the legacy of a class stratified education system, and it
has also been chronically divided on the basis of gender. The multiplicity of professional organisations
and unions to which different sections of teaching force have belonged has both reflected and
reinforced such divisions .

Tourette s Syndrome Case Study
DESCRIPTION
Tourette s Syndrome, often shortened to TS, is an inherited neurological disorder. Although the cause
is unknown, studies suggest that it occurs when the nerves in the brain have trouble communicating
and when there is a disturbance in the balance of neurotransmitters.
It is characterized by repetitive, sudden, and involuntary movements or noises called tics. The tics can
be both motorized and vocalized. Motor tics are body movements that can be simple, such as rapid eye
blinking, shoulder shrugging, or nose twitching or complex, such as jumping, kicking, hopping, and
spinning. Simple vocal tics include grunting, sniffing, and throat clearing, while complex vocal tics
include repeating the words of others or repeating one s own words (ghr.nlm.nih.gov). About 10% of
those diagnosed with TS have coprolalia, usage of obscene language, and copropraxia, making
obscene movements. The syndrome does not directly affect a person s intelligence, as they function
normally besides the tics, unless there is another co existing disorder. ... Show more content on

more motor tics or vocal tics, but not both that have been persistent for over a year and has not been

Mengzi s Arguments On Moral Principles
Moral principles generally shape a person s character. Such principles ultimately influence the way a
person makes decisions, and may become the foundation that people pattern their lives after. However,
in Chinese philosophy there exists a difference of opinion of moral principles. One by the name of
Mozi advocates impartiality and condems partiality. He expresses that everyone should benefit
everyone equally. Although this may seem benevolent, the very idea is impractical. Mozi s point of
view is rather progressive and future driven, due to the fact equal treatment for everyone has never

Unfortunately, every human contains a sense of partiality within their character by nature; whether
they are deemed partial or impartial in character. Humans are the most selfish species alive due to the
fact that every decision is ultimately made for oneself; whether it appears to be for others or not. Due
to further circumstances, consequences or just by one s innate impulses, humans ultimately make
decisions in light of such elements. However, that doesn t mean that great harm can t arise from such
decisions, nor does such a trait categorize someone as partial due to the fact that one places
preferential treatment towards oneself. For those that hate and steal may possibly commit such actions

The Corruption Of The Catholic Church
As one knows today, there are many Churches around the whole world. Although there are many
today, back in the 1500 s, there was only one Church, and that is the Catholic Church. The Catholic
Church was a corrupt church back at the time but no one really knew about it. One reason is because
peasants and other lower class people didn t understand Latin so they couldn t read the Bible except
for the priests. This gave the pope and the whole church administration an idea to get huge wealth.
They used relics, sacred items, to their advantage to give false hope to people, gave indulgences, a

Social Stereotypes In Zootopia
Quote: Because he s a sloth he can t be fast
This quote is a great example of a stereotype. Judy made an incorrect statement about a sloth just
because of what type of animal he was. This statement was later proven not true, as the sloth was
speeding throughout the streets of Zootopia.
Concepts
Stereotypes: Generalized (sometimes accurate but often overgeneralized) beliefs about a group of
people. Throughout the movie, there are a lot of stereotypes evident. The main one is that predators
are bad, and prey is good. Many believed in the movie that the predators could not be trusted after all
the attacks that were happening, but that was not true. The rare cases of a predator going savage was
due to toxic flowers.
Discrimination: Unjustifiable negative behavior toward a group or its members. In Zootopia, an act of
discrimination is seen in a flashback when Nick Wilde is joining the Ranger Scouts. In this scene, the
members of the scouts put a muzzle on him just because he is a fox and They cannot trust a fox .
Situational Attribution: Believing the cause of a behavior is based on the person s situation, not their
attitude. An example of this in the movie was when Judy found out the reason for predators going
savage was due to the flowers, not due to their attitudes or genetics.
Dispositional Attribution: Believing that the cause of a behavior is based on the person s attitude, not
situation. In the scene where Nick Wilde was trying to buy a popsicle for his son , Judy assumed that
he was a great father. However, he was just trying to hustle her out of a free popsicle to sell later.
Conformity: Adjusting one s behavior or thinking to coincide with a group standard. In the movie,
when Judy said that she though that the predator s attacks were due to genetics, everyone conformed
to this idea. The prey started to separate themselves from the prey and conform to this idea.
Normative Social Influence: Influence resulting from a person s desire to gain approval or
disapproval. In the movie, Judy Hopps works extra hard while on parking duty to get approval from
Chief Bogo and get more interesting cases.
Deindividuation: The loss of self awareness and self restraint occurring in group situations that foster

In today s society men have an attraction towards skinny women. The most gorgeous super models are
thin and when other girls look at them, they get jealous. Many girls see this, and view themselves as
being overweight and have a complex and a desire, which is to be skinny, this disease is called
Anorexia. Anorexia is a disease, which affects mostly women and sometimes men. Anorexia is when
you think you are fat, and you deprive yourself of food in order to be skinny. They see themselves as
being fat and want to strive to be better than the quot;norm quot;, and by that, being as skinny as
possible. The glamorous women are skinny and we see this everywhere in movies, fashion shows,

Lennard Davis describes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This, as we have seen, is in contrast to societies with the concept of an ideal, in which all people have
a non ideal status quot; (Davis, p29)
Davis is saying that there are many people who are considered normal and want to be better than that.
Anorexia deals with this because girls feel they have to be skinny in order to be beautiful.
Beautiful as in being prettier than quot;average quot; women are. They want to be the ideal but then
they stray away from it as they get into the extremes cases of anorexic they go toward the non ideal
situation.
Ideology plays a big part in this because with anorexia the girls strive to be skinny, and this is their
quot;ideal quot; situation. With anorexia they get to their ideal stage and still have a complex of
thinking they are fat. They go far beyond they ideal stage and then the disease takes them far beyond
their desired state and get into an acute situation. In my sister s situation it became so severe that she
had to put in a hospital and had to be fed intravenously. She weighed 97 pounds and was 5 10 quot; at
her worst.
Anorexia is also caused by a stigma. We ask why does a person become Anorexic? One way a person
may become anorexic is by them being alienated, or mentally abused due to their obesity.
Having a stigma hurts a lot and sometimes people must take extreme measures in order to fight the
stigma and get on with their normal life. As

In 1932 was Brecht
geplaas op die Nazi Party se lys van agteruitgaande skrywers. Die drama wat waarskynlik die
hoofoorsaak hiervan was was The Threepenny Opera (1928) ‘n skerp satiere gefokus op kapitalisme.
Die jaar daarop (1933) toe Hitler aanbewind kom, word Brecht en sy vrou verban uit Duitsland. Eers
het hulle gevlug na Denemarke. Na ‘n paar jaar van hull ewe daar het hulle hulself gevestig in die
VSA, California in 1941. Gedurende hierdie ontwrigte periode en verbanning het Brecht die
meerderheid van sy roemryke werke van vandag geskryf. In 1941, (Tweede Wêreld Oorlog) het
Brecht die satirise toneel The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui vrygestel wat Hitler as ‘n gangster

Examples Of Racial Tension In A Worn Path
Group 3 (W. Bowen, M Bickham, J. Stewart, D. Bryant, Elzy) English 102 T Th at 11 am Ms. Evans
2nd March 2018 Acknowledgment of Racial Tension in A Worn Path It is factual that in history there
has been much social division due to racial tension. Because black people were mainly the victims in
early history, many of their thoughts are influenced by their past. This reality can be hard to erase from
the minds of those who experienced such injustice. In the story A Worn Path , with its location in the
south, it is almost guaranteed that such tension will be present. Welty acknowledges the existence of
discrimination and historical racial tensions told from the plot of Phoenix Jackson s journey to the city.

The National Holiday Of Columbus Day Should Not Become A...
The national holiday of Columbus Day should never have become a recognized Federal holiday.
Christopher Columbus did not actually discover the Americas. There were millions of indigenous
people already living in the location that he was exploring. It is true he was an explorer trying to find
his way to the riches of the Indies and mapping his way for Spain and Europe however, how is it a
discovery when people are already living on the land? He didn t even make it to the location he was
originally trying to reach. He was also a brutal man that enslaved the people living on the land he
discovered .
We as a people enjoy having our holidays off and it has been a recognized holiday since enacted by
Franklin D. Roosevelt. It was celebrated in some aspect or another hundreds of years before then. We
are celebrating a figure that has been romanticized about for so long even though the truth of the man
is a very different story. If we dig further into the truth we will discover that it really makes no sense
to why we have a day to celebrate this man. As a nation we may want to reconsider either a different
celebration of this day or removing the holiday completely.
According to the Library of Congress the first recorded celebration of Columbus Day in the United
States took place on October 12, 1792, for the 300th anniversary of his arriving to America. At the
400th anniversary it was recommended by President Harrison that the United States observe the day as
a holiday. Then the

Benefits Of Moving To The Usa Essay
Moving to the US can be an exciting if not slightly a daunting experience. For a start, everything
seems so much bigger, you re in a foreign country with new customs and a different culture to
embrace, not to mention your accent stands out like a sore thumb. But all joking aside, the USA can be
very strict on enforcing regulations, and as they can vary slightly from state to state, it s worthwhile
doing your research before you get on the plane. The following are some of the regulations to consider
when moving to the USA: VISA Before you board the plane and organize any of your new life in
America, you will have to apply for a visa. There are numerous different types of visa to apply for
depending on the nature of your circumstance. For instance, are you planning to work over there, do
you require a family based visa, or perhaps you d prefer to be a green card holder, allowing you to
enjoy many of the same rights as US citizens. Before you move abroad, there s no way of knowing
whether you ll easily and quickly adapt to life out there. Whilst it is recommended to obtain a job and
find somewhere to live before you go, and in some of the states it will be obligatory to have secured
employment prior to being given permission to live there, you may end up finding it too hard to live
away from your other relatives and friends, or your kids may ... Show more content on

Robert Lee Frost Analysis
Robert Lee Frost was conceived in San Francisco, March 26. He was one of America s premier
twentieth century writers and won the Pulitzer Prize four times. In spite of the fact that his verse
shapes are old style, he was an innovator in the interaction of meter and rhyme and in the wonderful
utilization of the vocabulary and emphases of how everybody speaks today. His work is full of nature
and is very touching. Two of Robert Lee Frosts supreme and popular poems that I will be working
with are The Road Not Taken and Stopping by Woods on A Snowy Evening . In the poems Road not
taken and Stopping by woods on a snowy evening Robert Frost explains that both depict how to take
choices in life a circumstance where he needs to pick between two ways in that will affect his life
forever.
In The Road Not Taken the writer in the sonnet is voyaging and comes at the spot from where the road
is isolated into two. Here he needs to choose which way he needs to go for eventual fate of his life.
The goals of both pathways are obscure. Yet, the poet needs to pick one of them as he can t choose
both roads at once. Utilizing yellow wood (line 1) as a representative signal to seniority moving
toward quick, his definitive decision will endure for what he will have to live with for the rest of his
life. Moving toward older age comes with the acknowledgment of the truth, it s an ideal opportunity to
say goodbye to dreams and expectations. Then took the other, as just as fair and having perhaps the
better claim (line 6 7). The poet appears to be indecisive here. But, he has settled on a choice, he is
still constantly thinking about it. On the outline, both roads strike as comparative, with no apparent
difference. As a result, his absence of activity and uncertainty causes him enormous distress and delay.
Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back (line 14 15). The poet
endeavors to persuade himself with little achievement, verging on daydreaming. He induces himself
that if one road ends up being unsatisfactory, he would have the capacity to offer reparation and pick
the other road. In any case, looking back, he s completely mindful that his decision will impact him in
his later years

Unlike during the Prohibition Era, in today s society, alcohol is typically viewed positively, due to the strong influence of commercials promoting alcohol. The positive advertisement of alcohol makes it intriguing and tempting. This intrigue, combined with the overall promotion of alcohol in today s society, leads to adults and even teenagers becoming more adventurous with trying alcohol. • 3. Minimum Wage Is An Issue That Is Causing Uproar Amongst... Yimaj Sherif ENG 1520 Dr.James 16 August 2015 Minnsincsndcdcsdc Minimum wage is an issue that is causing uproar amongst working class citizens. For many workers, a simple increase of 30% in the federal minimum wage could be the difference between living in or out of poverty. Over the past few decades there have been countless increases in salaries, although none of those went to people who actually needed it. To this day the rich continue to get richer, vastly increasing their wealth, while the poor are struggling to provide basic necessities such as food, shelter, and clothing. While the rich keep get richer and the poor continue getting poorer, we have seen a decrease in the middle class; median income has turned into upper or lower middle class. Establishing legislation that provides workers with a wage that is able to sustain simple necessities is necessary, it would provide ample support for those who may not have been able to afford living to take a step away from poverty and move into the middle class. The minimum wage was set with the passage of The Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 (FLSA). Its initial price point was $0.25 per hour, and it has been raised twenty two times since. It allowed for federal protections against employers like minimum wage, overtime pay for time worked over a set number of hours in a workweek, restrictions on the employment of children, and recordkeeping requirements (uc davis). In that year, the act applied to industries whose ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If only Darwin had been alive to witness the secrets of the well known marine mammal theme park known as SeaWorld, he would have been as appalled as many have been discovering these hidden secrets. One of the major issues with SeaWorld is animal captivity. • 23. The Origins of Voodoo Essay The Origins of Voodoo Voodoo is a religion rich in heritage and founded in faith and community. The religion has been villainized by western culture and has been wrongly portrayed as malignant and dangerous. The religion is not founded in any of the (known) black magics or fear popularized by Hollywood films, but rather it is based on balance and tradition. The religion is not something that should be encountered with inhibition or fear induced from childhood horror stories, but embraced for its strength and history. Voodoo originated as an amalgam of African religions during the slave trade. In the three centuries of religious oppression, voodoo became a symbol of pride and independence for the slaves. Any pride in a slave is, of course, regarded as a threat to the slave owner. Rumors of human sacrifice and devil worship became prevalent in the social circles of plantation owners and slave traders. These statements had no validity, but traveled quickly throughout the Caribbean and America. The practitioners of voodoo embraced this fear as means to frighten their former masters and gain some respect in a world where they were deprived of everything. Former slave owners quickly found themselves duped into the beliefs of voodoo dolls and hexes. Of course, many slave owners simply killed their slaves rather than be frightened by the voodoo. The practice itself is not actually frightening or powerful in any way, but that doesn?t matter to superstitious folks like those in Salem. No historical evidence of human sacrifice or affiliation with Satan has been discovered (Voodoo), or likely ever will be. Primary religions involved in the African aspect of voodoo are Macumba and Candomble of the Yoruba people of Nigeria, and several now extinct tribes from the Congos and Cameroon. These religions lay the groundwork for the course of religious ceremonies and contain the origins for the deities worshipped in modern voodoo. • 28. The Chosen Ones By Pablo Neruda Analysis Resuscitation Pablo Neruda s poem The Chosen Ones is a perfect incorporation of torment and influence, acting to sadden as well as impact the reader to influence further action against intolerance. Neruda uses allusion when referencing the years of events of significant suffering that are important in Cuban and world history, recalling his own first hand experiences himself, and the significance of understanding these dates and events. Neruda uses a tone that is volatile, characterized by an increase in imagery, especially of death and violence, as the piece goes on. Neruda uses a couplet at the end to shift the poem from lengthy description of violence and death, to a sardonic reference of those who were killed, operating as a call to action. This poem uses allusion, tone, and personification to exemplify violence as a result of prejudice and their legacy forgotten. Neruda s use of historical allusion is significant as several dates mentioned are specific examples of genocide, especially as a result of hatred towards complex institutions of race, nationality, and religion. In this piece Neruda references several dates: 1925, 1926, 1933, 1940, 1918, 1905, and thousands of nineteen hundreds (Neruda,1). Each date representative of a significantly negative event in world history; However several dates also coincide with important years in Cuban history. For example, in the year 1925, Gerardo Machado was elected Cuba s president, he would resist the rise of a healthy labor movement, which he would enforce using deportation and police brutality. Cuba s economic downfall would lead to uprisings in the future, all ultimately having Cuban legislature and law enforcement being taken advantage of, while at the same time several mass killings world arise before crimes against humanity would be identified and prosecuted at the International Military Tribunal in Nuremberg. Neruda s first hand experiences with oppression and fascism growing up in Cuba allowed many to learn from the Chilean because he offered a way of identifying with the masses and engaging the problems of society (Pettingell, 3). Before the service, I did a little bit of research of the Lutheran church. I wanted to know what the actual definition of a Lutheran was, I found a website that gave me some insight. Because of the fact that I am not a member of the Lutheran church or LCMS, I was not allowed to receive communion. I thought that this was strange because Methodists believe in an open communion instead of a closed one and our pastor always says everyone is welcome at God s table. The worship consisted mostly of reading the traditional liturgy. This seemed a lot less personal than the worship services that I am used to. A lot of the service also took place moving from standing to sitting and back again. Without following visual cues, it would be very hard to understand exactly what you were supposed to do at different points within the service if you were new or unfamiliar with Lutheran traditions. Another thing that really stood out to me was the idea that after the service, you had to wait to be dismissed before leaving the sanctuary. They dismissed by row to ensure that you had time to talk to the pastor after worship without being too rushed. Overall it was a great experience and I learned a lot talking to members of the church. Teacher Professionalism Essay Teacher Professionalism and the Vocational Culture of Teaching Teaching has never been recognised as a profession mainly because of its inability to promote and demonstrate a distinctive expertise (Beck, 2008). The status of teaching has always been seen as an uncertain position, according to Etzioni, he characterised it as one of the semi professions (Etzioni, 1969). Teaching definitely struggled to get the same degree of professional independency as professions like medicine and law (Braun, 2012). The concept and multiple meanings of teacher professionalism has changed in relation to historical, political and social contexts. It has developed over time between rival groups and their interest (Hilferty, 2008). The term professionalism is very difficult to define and as it is used in different senses. The term is mainly used to define the status of occupation groups in terms of morality (Kennedy, 2007). So in the business world the term professionalism is defined as success . It is cross cut by actual and perceived internal differences of status which are in part the legacy of a class stratified education system, and it has also been chronically divided on the basis of gender. Concepts Stereotypes: Generalized (sometimes accurate but often overgeneralized) beliefs about a group of people. Throughout the movie, there are a lot of stereotypes evident. The main one is that predators are bad, and prey is good. Many believed in the movie that the predators could not be trusted after all the attacks that were happening, but that was not true. The rare cases of a predator going savage was due to toxic flowers. Discrimination: Unjustifiable negative behavior toward a group or its members. Situational Attribution: Believing the cause of a behavior is based on the person s situation, not their attitude. • 44. The National Holiday Of Columbus Day Should Not Become A... The national holiday of Columbus Day should never have become a recognized Federal holiday. Christopher Columbus did not actually discover the Americas. There were millions of indigenous people already living in the location that he was exploring. It is true he was an explorer trying to find his way to the riches of the Indies and mapping his way for Spain and Europe however, how is it a discovery when people are already living on the land? He didn t even make it to the location he was originally trying to reach. He was also a brutal man that enslaved the people living on the land he discovered . We as a people enjoy having our holidays off and it has been a recognized holiday since enacted by Franklin D. Roosevelt. It was celebrated in some aspect or another hundreds of years before then. We are celebrating a figure that has been romanticized about for so long even though the truth of the man is a very different story. If we dig further into the truth we will discover that it really makes no sense to why we have a day to celebrate this man. As a nation we may want to reconsider either a different celebration of this day or removing the holiday completely. According to the Library of Congress the first recorded celebration of Columbus Day in the United States took place on October 12, 1792, for the 300th anniversary of his arriving to America. At the 400th anniversary it was recommended by President Harrison that the United States observe the day as a holiday. Then the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Robert Lee Frost Analysis Robert Lee Frost was conceived in San Francisco, March 26. He was one of America s premier twentieth century writers and won the Pulitzer Prize four times. In spite of the fact that his verse shapes are old style, he was an innovator in the interaction of meter and rhyme and in the wonderful utilization of the vocabulary and emphases of how everybody speaks today. His work is full of nature and is very touching. Two of Robert Lee Frosts supreme and popular poems that I will be working with are The Road Not Taken and Stopping by Woods on A Snowy Evening . In the poems Road not taken and Stopping by woods on a snowy evening Robert Frost explains that both depict how to take choices in life a circumstance where he needs to pick between two ways in that will affect his life forever. In The Road Not Taken the writer in the sonnet is voyaging and comes at the spot from where the road is isolated into two. Here he needs to choose which way he needs to go for eventual fate of his life. The goals of both pathways are obscure. Yet, the poet needs to pick one of them as he can t choose both roads at once. Utilizing yellow wood (line 1) as a representative signal to seniority moving toward quick, his definitive decision will endure for what he will have to live with for the rest of his life. Moving toward older age comes with the acknowledgment of the truth, it s an ideal opportunity to say goodbye to dreams and expectations. Then took the other, as just as fair and having perhaps the better claim (line 6 7). The poet appears to be indecisive here. But, he has settled on a choice, he is still constantly thinking about it. On the outline, both roads strike as comparative, with no apparent difference. As a result, his absence of activity and uncertainty causes him enormous distress and delay. Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back (line 14 15). The poet endeavors to persuade himself with little achievement, verging on daydreaming. He induces himself that if one road ends up being unsatisfactory, he would have the capacity to offer reparation and pick the other road. In any case, looking back, he s completely mindful that his decision will impact him in his later years ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
