Christian Vs Ephesians
Christianity is not an ideal, it s a lifestyle choice. You are not born into a religion, you are not a
Christian, Jewish, Buddhist or any specific religion from birth, you are raised as to be that religion.
C.S. Lewis is an example of someone who was brought up in a Protestant household, lost faith
through his teen years and found Christianity in college. We develop our religion throughout our
years, growing more knowledgeable from our experiences and realizing that each of God s teachings
can relate back to us on a day to day basis. Each book in the Bible is like stories with a lesson. Mere
Christianity taught similar lessons to those in the Bible, but with a philosophical point of view. C.S.
Lewis could take his experiences and relate them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Nicene Creed, it is said that God is the maker of heaven and earth, and all things visible and
invisible. Lewis talks about a crown, which is a symbol for God and eternity (Lewis 137). Without
God, having created heaven and earth or having the power to create an afterlife, there would be no
basis for people to be decent or live just lives. The Nicene Creed relates to C.S. Lewis Mere
Christianity because one provides the creation of an afterlife and the other provides imagery of the
divine life to come. In the memory text of Ephesians, it talks about how God gave us Jesus Christ
through his will and then about the crucifixion of Christ and how that lead to forgiveness of our sins,
which was a fulfillment in Christ. The first two sections of the Nicene Creed are about God and Jesus.
The sections talk of God being the Father and Jesus is the only Son of God, then further down talks
about how Jesus was crucified and then rose again. These two sections are relative to each other
because they talk about Jesus being crucified and then rising again for the forgiveness of our sins,
which is the basis of the religion Christians believe

Organ Of The Organ System
Organ transplantation has been around for about 61 years. The first successful transplantation took
place on December 23, 1954 by Dr. Joseph Murray and Dr. David Hume at Brigham Hospital in
Boston, Massachusetts. That transplantation being successful on that day has saved many lives to this
day ( Transplantation ). The only legal way to get an organ transplant is through organ donation. In the
United States alone, there are about 122,690 people on the waiting list today and only 10,051 donors.
Every ten minutes, someone is added to the waiting list and 22 people that are on the waiting list dies
everyday ( Organ Procurement ). There have been many debates on the matter of only being able to
obtain an organ through donation. Some people believe that there should be a legal market to sell
organs. In these debates, people must take other matters into consideration. The sale of organs may
have an effect the environment, the different cultures, the economy, ethics, politics, or even science
and technology. Weather these effects would be good or bad is up to debate.
There have been many debates on the issue of the legalization of the sale of human organs. One
person to debate on the issue was Dr. Monti. She put out an elaborate paper on how the sale of human
organs would benefit the economy. Jennifer Monti has a medical and master s degree in public health
and her research has been published in academic journals. Her other writings have been recognized by

DNA Based Conviction Case Study
The first DNA based conviction in the United States occurred shortly after in 1987 when the Circuit
Court in Orange County, Florida, convicted Tommy Lee Andrews of rape after DNA tests matched his
DNA from a blood sample with that of semen traces found in a rape victim (Calandro, 2005). It was
two years later that DNA was again ruled admissible in a Virginia state ruling. In the years that
followed the use of DNA in trial proceeding was not disputed. It was not until the technique of
obtaining the evidence was more largely used did the practice become questionable.
In the court case People of New York vs. Castro, it was the laboratory s procedures that were called
into question. This case was a landmark murder case commonly cited as the

The September 11th Attack on the World Trade Center
In the early 1960 s, executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Austin J
Tobin, brought forward the proposal for a giant skyscraper complex in order to accommodate for
much needed office space in Lower Manhattan. The plan was met with considerable opposition at
first, but Tobin s proposal eventually succeeded, and Japanese American Minoru Yamasaki was
commissioned to design the building. Yamasaki projected a novel design for a development that
included two 110 storey twin towers . Upon completion in 1971, they were the tallest towers in the
world, a record the infrastructure held for two years. The magnificent World Trade Centre complex
which in 2001 included five other buildings in addition to the iconic Twin ... Show more content on

At 8.14am, as the aircraft was passing over central Massachusetts, the stewardesses began serving
beverages. Suddenly five men stood up and began making their way towards the cockpit. Two
stewardesses tried to intervene, but the men stabbed them with small pocket knives that they had
successfully smuggled past airport security. The following screams and sight of blood caused panic
among the passengers. A passenger tried to interpose one of the hijackers, but he was also stabbed.
The remaining passengers watched on helplessly as the hijackers entered the cockpit. The aircraft was
now in the hands of the al Qaeda hijackers, one of whom was himself a trained pilot. Mohammed Atta,
lead hijacker, turned the aircraft sharply to the south and set a new course for New York City. At
8.46am American Airlines Flight 11, appeared low in the sky above Manhattan. Flying at a speed of
around 750km/h, the aircraft slammed into the North Tower of the World Trade Centre between the
93rd and 99th floors. The impact triggered a huge explosion as an estimated 10,000 gallons of jet fuel,
needed for the intended journey to Los Angles ignited. All the passengers, including hijackers died
instantly; hundreds working in the tower were also killed upon the impact. Just 17 minutes later, while
New Yorkers were still trying to come to terms with the events that had just occurred; United

Crusade Effects On Feudalism
The crusade is a religious fight between Jewish, Islam and Christianity. It is also a war against Muslim

The Working Poor Shipler Chapter 2 Summary
In David Shipler s novel, The Working Poor Shipler expresses that life is not always easy, especially
living in poverty. Shipler tries to get across to his readers that work does not always work. The main
topic addressed is ultimately the dilemmas of public aid. Shipler illustrates this in chapter 2 of his
novel by explaining the lives of three hard working woman who are stuck in the poverty cycle. Just
because these women have a job, does not mean that they are able to free themselves from poverty.
Throughout chapter 2, it references back to the life of the three hard working women who hold
minimum wage jobs; the women make between $6 and $7 per hour and attempt to make a living with
help from the government through Medicaid, welfare checks, and food stamps. The issue with this is

Such things can lead to difficulties at home and even the possibility of having more children; which in
return would lead to more expenses. If there are issues at home due to fighting with the significant
other that will then lead to the women s work being affected and threatening their already low income.
Majority of the women s money goes to two major things; expenses on day care and food for their
children. The major issue of the two expenses lies within the food that is purchased for their children.
It is because the women are hardly home because they are out working to make a living that the
children are in need of quick, easy to make foods. Most foods that require little to no cooking typically
fall under the unhealthy or junk food category. If the kids are always exposed to bad eating habits then
that could lead to health issues and sickness; health issues cost money. If the children are constantly
needed medical attention due to their health then that is only making a bad situation even worse from

International Trade Organization And Trade Agreements
International trade has been present in society for centuries; however, today s interconnected
economies and growing globalization has to lead to an increase in trading regulations and the creation
of trading blocs which aim to implement easier and cheaper trade within global economies. In 1995,
164 countries came together to create the world trade organization. This organization deals with
trading rules and agreements within nations. This report will assess the benefits and challenges which
occur through international trade agreements. As well as aiming to provide an overview of trade
policy issues and how the international trading system operates. 1.The role of the world trade

To protect business growth and ensure no business can steal the assets of another the WTO created the
controversial trade related aspects of international property rights(TRIPS) agreement. Innovative
activity has been the single, most important component of long term economic growth 3 and because
IPRs stimulate inventive and creative activities 4 because the trips agreement is implemented to
protect innovation, it can be inferred that this agreement is crucial in generating economic growth. The
WTO has not only enhanced the value and quantity of trade but has also assisted in eradicated trade
and non trade barriers. WTO has also broadened the trade governance scope to trade in investment,
services and intellectual property. It has emerged as a greater organization than GATT and expanded
the agenda by including developmental policies which further helped in settlement of disputes and
improved monitoring by introducing the Trade Policy Review and the World Trade Report as well as
increased transparency by removing green room negotiations. 1.1 The two different types of trade:

for all the Ottawa Charter had to establish five action areas which promote health. One of the five
action areas of the Ottawa Charter is the development of personal skills. Developing personal skills
are essential when aiding an individual with their mental health issues, as they need the ability to

In summarizing it can be said that environmental scanning is important to the marketing planners in
terms of assisting in formulation of objectives which in turn forms the basis for strategy formulation
for the future.
ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS
When considering the development of a suitable strategy for EMI, it has to be preceded by an
environmental analysis which will assist in identifying the forces operating in the environment and
help in developing objectives for the future.
a) Macro Environmental Analysis
Macro environmental analysis helps marketing planners in identifying the factors which affect the
industry as a whole, in this case the Music industry which will create industrial breakpoints leading to
opportunities and threats for the existing players in the market including EMI. The analysis takes into
consideration the Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Ecological and Legal environments and
the changes of which needs to be taken into consideration while developing strategies.

The School Of Education And Allied Professions
In 2011, the College of Education and Allied Professions welcomed the first fifteen member cohort of
Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellows (WWTF) to the University of Dayton. Dr. Tom Lasley
communicated the necessity for the WWTF program with one statement, Dayton Public Schools are in
crisis and the Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellows will learn the skills necessary to facilitate a change
in direction. Superintendent of Dayton Public Schools (DPS), Lori Ward, endorsed the WWTF
program and provided Fellows opportunities to complete student teaching requirements in select
Dayton Public Schools. On the contrary, within the Department of Teacher Education professors and
support staff approved the concept of the WWTF program, but struggled with implementation. As
program director, Dr. Lasley utilized the symbolic and political frames to foster support during the
program s first year.
To garner support for program implementation, Dr. Lasley relied on relationships developed during his
tenure as former dean of the College of Education and Allied Professions. Bowman and Deal (2013)
describe reputation as a source of power. Reputation builds on expertise (Bowman Deal, 2013).
Further, his reputation afforded access to key internal and external stakeholders. The Provost
supported University involvement with the Woodrow Wilson Foundation (WWF) and petitioned the
office of Graduate Education on behalf of the program for a book stipend for the WWTF. Training

New York City, Brooklyn, Queens, And Staten Island Essay
New York City is made up of five boroughs, which include the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens,
and Staten Island. Within these boroughs, there are high and low income neighborhoods that contain
either high or low status organizational structures or facilities. Each division has their own
characteristics and top attractions, such as the Empire State building, Central Park, or Times Square.
As New York City may be known for great food and fun attractions, New York faces infrastructure
problems within each borough. New York City s infrastructure funding is limited in lower income
neighborhoods, where money needed to upkeep the city goes toward prime tourist s areas or residents
living in high status neighborhoods, such as The Upper East Side of Manhattan, Cobble Hill,
Brooklyn, and Lenox Hill, Manhattan. Moreover, abandoned buildings, poor sewage conditions, and
rocky roads and streets are examples of low income area infrastructure problems that may hinder
neighborhood growth both structurally and economically. Harlem, East Brooklyn, and South Bronx
are low income parts of New York that lack new and refined facilities, roads, plumbing, and
fundamental structures, which contribute to high crime and arrests.
New York faces a various number of infrastructure issues, regardless of the neighborhood status quo.
Many city roads, subways, bridges, water mains, sewer systems, school buildings, and other public
buildings are over 50 years old. More than 200 of New York City s public

The Shawshank Redemption Essay
The Shawshank Redemption is a prison movie that is based on a book by Stephen King and directed
by Frank Darabont. The movie is not the average bloody horror movie; instead, it takes you to a place
where your worst nightmares come alive. The tremendous performance by Morgan Freeman and other
actors has truly brought this film to life. The emotions characters portrayed were so real that every one
could feel compassion toward them. The Shawshank Redemption, a contribution to the working man,
illustrates the dark side of the prison and the power of hope within that helps a prisoner to survive.

The setting is dark and foreboding and creates the atmosphere of the last place one would ever want to
spend their life. The convicts have to tolerate other prisoners and guards who are brutal and ruthless (
Morgan Freeman Stars 58). The Shawshank prison is a hell full of sinners (Alleva 16).
To the prisoners, prison is like a whole different world. After learning to deal with imprisonment, the
prisoners then have a hard time dealing with the outside world. Another horror about prison life is the
psychological disorder of being behind bars for so long prevents prisoners from being able to survive
in the real world ( Morgan Freeman Stars 58). One of the characters, played by James Whitmore,
commits suicide because it is difficult for him to adjust to the outside world. Red, another prisoner,
does the same thing when he is on parole (Alleva 16). Red states that in [prison] he s an important
man where outside he is nothing but a con [who] probably couldn t get a library card if he tried (qtd in
Armstrong 81). Before Red and James hang themselves, they do something with the knife in their
hands. To keep the suspense alive, Darabont does not reveal their actions until after the suicides take
place. The shot of the scene endorses one of Andy s ideologies: get busy living or get busy dying (qtd
in Avella 18). The use of camera, angle shots, and knowing when to use them appropriately are the
aspects that keep the viewers on their tiptoes. That is

Dog Mabel Research Paper
As the evening fell, the dark blue night rose up across the sky. I laid under the stars in my back yard,
as I do every night with my dog Mabel. Mabel was approaching her old ages but she was a great
listener. Usually I tell her about my day or fairy tales, tonight I told her about my mom. My mother
passed away in a car accident when I was only a baby, she was the most loving person I knew and I
miss her everyday, and sometimes it helps to talk about her. As I lay talking curled up next to mabel I
could feel my eyes getting heavier and heavier as the warm summer breeze brushed past my face. And
that was the last thing I remember, now i m standing on the corner of Shelmet and Maine. I recognize
the area, it s not too far from my house, but a few of the buildings are different now. I walk across the
street to a old fashioned diner and as I approach the door the cashier yells no dogs aloud! I look down

Marriage In Pride And Prejudice Essay
Introduction Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice wasn t alike any other Romantic or Gothic novels
written at the time, it was the first novel to porttrait real characters and everyday life. Jane doesn t
display much evidence of the Romantic movement in her works and she is the only author that seems
to be untouched by the political, intellectial and artistic revolutions of her time. As Rebecca West
stated Austen s novels contain no mention of the Napoleonic wars because she had nothing to say
about them

Bennet and her relations have already acquired a higher social status by the marriage with Mr. Bennet
and this status is only to become higher with the marriages of Elizabeth and Jane. Elizabeth, who is a
daughter of an aristocratic gentleman and mother from the middle class, at the end marries to one of
the wealthiest aristocrats in England. Elizabeth s marriage to Mr. Darcy is one of the greatest match in
Austen s novels. Until the very end of the story it is nearly impossible for Eliza to think of marrying
Darcy because of the great social distance between their families. It is equally difficult for Darcy to
think of marrying her. When Darcy proposes to Elizabeth, he says that the reason why he hardly
admitted his feelings towards her was the distinction between the classes they belonged to. There are
different views on the extent of social difference between them. In Lady Catherine s eyes Elizabeth is
a nobody, with upstart pretensions , a woman shrewdly on the make, who will pollute the shades of
Pemberley . Elizabeth herself, however, is not overwhelmed by the social difference. He is a
gentleman; I am a gentleman s daughter; so far we are equal , she claims calmly. (Coperland et al.
1997). She demonstrates that marriage should be a choice made for love by allowing Elizabeth to
remain in the power of choice even in spite of social pressures. Austen shows the good effects of a
marriage based on love and the positive effects, which can come from it.
As mentioned above, Lady Catherine represented the dying aristocratic class. That she has lost much
of her social authority can be seen in the scene where Lady Catherine visits Elizabeth to speak about
the relationship between her and her nephew Mr. Darcy. A few decades earlier she would have
summoned Elizabeth to Rosings Park where she

The Degradation of Hiphop Essay
When did music stop being an art and become a business? Hiphop used to be about keeping kids off
the streets, used to channel their energy into positive pastimes to keep them from becoming involved
with gangs. It promoted positive and peaceful messages through intelligently written rhymes. It used
to be cool to use a dictionary to write rhymes and rap about science and political issues. But now that
gangster rap has become mainstream, kids don t want to hear anything that doesn t mention pimpin ,

many people are unaware of is that there is another side to Hiphop typically called underground

People would get together typically at block parties or park jams and show their skills as a positive
pastime. Hiphop was created to stop gang violence, not to promote it like the typical gangster rapper
does today. This is one of the many things that people are unaware of when they are solely exposed to
mainstream commercialized gangster rap. Hiphop music isn t experimental anymore, Says Shortkut of
The Invisibl Skratch Piklz, It s violent and materialistic. All the so called rap videos on MTV are
about holding cash in your hand, wearing Versace, and looking like a so called playa. I never knew
that as Hiphop. To me, Hiphop was partying and showing your skills, not calling somebody out and
shooting them ( Evolution ). The founder of Hiphop, Afrika Bambaataa, was himself a Black Spade
Gangster, but he sparked the Hiphop revolution for the good of the community. When there were
Hiphop park jams, there were thugs and gangsters present, but it was all about having fun and being
positive.
So why does the gangster version of Hiphop sell? Because America is in love with sex, drugs, and
violence. Instead of creating a positive message that talks about doing something productive, the
media sells a fantasy. Too often, intelligent rappers are labeled soft, and anything that is not gangster is
labeled as being not real. But the gangster image is the fantasy! In an interview with DJ Lord Ron,

Peace Conference Essay
During the peace conference simulation, my character was Tamir and I am on the Israeli side. My
character s beliefs are that I am willing to compromise on the West Bank, the Refugees being allowed

The US Copyright Law
The US Copyright law
The US copyright law basically developed from statutory and English Common Law. Hence, types of
work and copyright protection are slightly similar to the UK copyright law. The copyright law of the
United States also provides copyright protection in literary work , dramatic work and musical work .
In section 102 (a)(2) stated that protection of the US copyright law cover musical work, including any

Another relevant topic with music copyright is performance or distributing to the public. In
accordance with the US copyright law, section101 explain that to perform a work means to recite,

Drug Testing For Welfare
Due to welfare recipients abusing their advantage, Tax payers want to drug test the users of welfare.
Drug Testing welfare recipients would insure to the tax payers that their money is not going to waste.
Staying off drugs would insure that the parents of welfare kids would not lose their benefits, so drug

System and Change in Industrial Relations Analysis
Critique: System and Change in Industrial Relations Analysis As a student of industrial relations, I am
often bombarded with conflicting theories and reasons for the emergence and importance of this field.
Edmond Heery outlines and analyses the justaposition of two different views of modeling this vast and
often debated area of industrial relations. His article looks at two types of model building in IR. First,
the traditional model of systems thinking set forth by John Dunlop, one of the pioneers of IR theory.
Introduced in 1958, Dunlop s system theory of IR tries to provide tools to understand the widest
possible range of IR activities and explains why particular rules are established in particular contexts.
Dunlop argues that IR can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

forces beyond the employment control. An example is globalization. In the exogenous disjunctive
model, episodes of change are interspersed with periods of stability. The change itself is triggered into
the employment relationship by some external event, like a war. In the exogenous cyclical model,
change follows a repeating cycle of decline and renewal as IR adapts to cyclical pressures in the
external environment, such as election pressures and the economy. In the endogenous cyclical model,
change occurs because of the competing drives of the actors. For example, IR is said to be both
adversarial (due to the competing interests) and cooperative (due to interdependence of the parties).
Thus IR will oscillate between adversarial and cooperative mindsets depending on the context as the
limitations of each approach become apparent to both management and workers. In the endogenous
disjunctive model, change occurs as a result of strategic choices of the actors within the employment
relations. For example, as a result of unions traditional marginalization of women s and minorities
issues, there has been an increased mobilization of women and minorities within unions. In the
endogenous gradual model, change is gradually driven by forces internal to IR. This model stresses
the maturing of IR institutions over time, as they become more

Positive Effects Of Underdevelopment In Africa
underdevelopment in Africa was made possible by positive feedback loops starting with the uneven
development in earlier centuries enforced by European constant exploitation of raw materials and
human labor from Africa. It traces the root of underdevelopment Africa back to the pre colonial
period. The natural path of development from communalism to feudalism and capitalism in Africa was
messed up by the European slave trade. The trade in slave was facilitated by African rulers greed for
luxury goods and European products. The effect of this trade was devastating in that it caused
considerable dislocation and disruption in the local economy, caused internal conflict as a result of
slave raiding and a huge loss of African labor. (Rodney ignored the Arab slave trade, which caused an
equivalent loss of human beings, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rodney puts together a biting criticism of Europe s interaction with Africa starting in the 15th century
with trading, both the slave trade and the trade in goods. This essentially killed inter Africa trade,
forcing African civilizations to only trade with European and other western economies. This also
changed the economies of African civilizations to suit what the traders wanted, whether human beings,
cotton, or minerals. When European powers grew as a result of the profits from trade, they then carved
Africa into its current state and entered the continent to force more and more production of things that
would increase profit for the western markets. Banks, industries, and nations prospered by the use of
underpaid, sometimes forced African labor. Meanwhile, civilizations fell apart and education came to
a stand still. This book left me further convinced in the concept of reparations, not just for slavery, but
for the destruction of an entire continent and all the people that came from there in the last 500

Natural Darkness Analysis
Natural darkness is something many people take for granted and do not consider worthwhile to think
about. However, the author of this passage, Paul Bogard, advocates to preserve natural darkness in Let
There Be Dark. Through his use of appealing to emotion, facts, and word choice, Bogard is able to
make an emotional plea to preserve darkness whilst also informing the reader of the many benefits
natural darkness has to offer as well.
Within the first paragraph Bogard has already established a connection he himself feels with natural
darkness. Through connected darkness with his memories in, At my family s cabin on a Minnesota
lake, I knew woods so dark that my hands disappeared before my eyes. I knew night skies in which
meteors left smoky trails across sugary spreads of stars, Bogard is able to invite the reader into
understanding why he is fighting for the preservation of natural darkness and the connection he has
with it. By allowing the reader this personal insight he is allowing for the reader themselves to connect
to the natural darkness the way he had as a child as well as promote the reader to think of their own
memories with darkness. By allowing this reminiscing, the author of the passage from the start allows
for the reader to get pulled into his argument and understand his thoughts. Later on, more appeals to
emotions are seen. Bogard begins to add other relatable material throughout the passage as well, such
as, In a world awash with electric light . . .

Drunk Driving Du
Penalties against drunk drivers should be increased
If the current penalties for drunk driving are good enough, there should be far less alcohol related
accidents, but that is not the case. Deaths from alcohol related car accidents have dropped by a third in
the last three decades, but that is not enough considering the damage still being done. Every day
approximately 29 people in the United States die because of driving under the influence. The most
terrible part about this is when innocent people die because of the actions of another. I believe the
recurrence of DUI s are mainly caused by people who do not take the related dangers seriously and
look at the penalties as not that severe. The other reasons why people drink and drive are based on
several categories that relate to decision making. When all factors have combined the risk of drunk
driving increases. Penalties for drunk driving should be increased to help prevent more fatalities.
There is still a large number of traffic fatalities involving alcohol and this is not acceptable. Every two
hours, three people are killed in alcohol related highway crashes. The consequences of drinking and
driving are arrests, property damage, injuries, and thousands of deaths each year (Chambers 1). In
2010, there were about four million U.S adults reported for driving under the influence. Alcohol
related highway crashes accounted for 13,365 deaths in 2010, and to top that off, the alcohol related
accidents cost Americans an

Nocturnal Enuresis
The causes and treatments
Joon Hee Bang (S) Enuresis Enuresis is defined as a repeated involuntary urination of individuals
old enough to be expected to exercise such control. Most girls can stay dry by age six and most boys
by age seven. Enuresis can be classified into three different types; Diurnal enuresis, Nocturnal
enuresis and Mixed enuresis. Diurnal enuresis and Nocturnal enuresis are daytime and night time
wetting respectively. These two types are also known as monosymptomatic. When these two
symptoms occur simultaneously, it is then known as Mixed enuresis (nonmonosymptomatic). Most of
the time, the term Enuresis can be used equivalent to Nocturnal enuresis, as it is most common among

Primary enuresis is when a patient did not experience a period of controlled voiding, where as
secondary is referred to as repetition of bedwetting after having been dry at night for more than 6
months. Other than this, primary and secondary enuresis are similar in terms of clinical presentations,
as they show common pathogenesis. The factors implicated in the pathogenesis of enuresis include a
disorder affecting arousal from sleep, nocturnal polyuria, and a reduced nocturnal bladder capacity.
These factors will be discussed further on later.
Requisites of controlled urination There are two main points that are considered important for ability
of controlled voiding. Firstly, the sufficient production of antidiuretic hormone (ADH) , which reduces
urine production at night. Moreover, one has to be able to wake up themselves when the bladder is
full. Treatment such as the bedwetting alarms and DDAVP tablets are based on these factors, in order
to cure and improve them.
Etiology of Enuresis There are several different conditions that may precipitate secondary enuresis.
First of all, cystitis and constipation are both associated with reduced functional bladder capacity
which may lead to enuresis. However, parents are often unaware of these conditions in their child. In
one cross sectional study of 277 children with enuresis, in which parental reporting of constipation
was compared with a clinician s assessment,

Literature Review On Atherosclerosis
Literature Review Draft
Atherosclerosis is characterised by gradual decrease in the luminal diameter of large arteries, it has
major health implications and contributes to around 50% of all deaths within westernized countries
(7). Patients can undergo coronary artery stenting to prolong the effects of this. Treatments for this
have undergone major developments over the past 40 years, including balloon angioplasty in 1977,
development of bare metal stents (BMS) in the 1980 s, introduction of drug eluting stents (DES) in
2000 (43) and current research into incorporating NO donors into stents. The first stent implantation
performed on a human was conducted in 1986 (13), since then they have become one of the most
common ways of intervention due to atherosclerosis. In the US there are 500,000 people who undergo
stenting annually (42). The success of stenting is inhibited by the reoccurrence of restenosis. Multiple
things can affect the rate of in stent restenosis, elevated LDL levels, increased levels of plasminogen
activator inhibitor I, type 2 diabetes and enhanced platelet aggergability (10). Therefore the severity of
restenosis will differ between patients.
Nobuyoshi et al, (1) and Serruys et al (2) found that restenosis is not an instantaneous development
after stent implantation, it develops between the 1st and 3rd month after implantation, although the
greatest change in luminal diameter occurred between the 2nd and 3rd month. These studies suggest
that restenosis is

Thomas Jefferson Pirates Chapter Summaries
Thomas Jefferson and the Tripoli Pirates is about the US Tripoli War of 1801 1805 that took place
during Jefferson s presidency. The book starts off with the newly independent United States facing the
difficulties of all the states that operated in the Mediterranean faced, which was the risk of trade
disruptions and capture by the Barbary States. The first four chapters talk about the efforts and
struggles the United States faced when dealing with Barbary during the 1780s and 1790s before war
actually breaks out in chapter five.
For years and years the leaders of Tripoli which is located in the Middle East had been taking over

Crews from the ships would be held captive and tortured for years and months on end. The United
States tried their hardest to keep the peace in line but nothing was working. So the United States army
set off on the USS George Washington to Algerines and Tripoli to settle things. A man by the name of
Thomas Jefferson was inaugurated as president in the year of 1801 and not long after he would send
warships to Tripoli and confront the pirates face to face for their doings. This caused a blockade so no
pirates would be able to attack the merchant ships. What this action would do was not what Jefferson
thought would happen but as an outcome an all out war broke loose between Jefferson s army and the
Tripoli pirates and their allies. The war would go on and on off the coast. The blockade only held for
so long. Finally the pirates would make their way through and ships started to come up on shore. The
USS Philadelphia hit shore in Tripoli s harbor and the pirates captured it. A young navy member then
snuck onto the ship and set it on fire during an enemy gun fire, destroying any goods the pirates could
get their hands on or even stop them from rebuilding the ship and turning it against the United States
Navy. The war would continue for a while until finally peace agreements were made and the U.S
Navy fled the scene. This whole action by Jefferson showed braveness in not only him but the U.S

Black Panther Party Goals
Black Panther Party During the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s, the Black Panther Party became
a very controversial organization that demanded black people be treated with equality. Before the
movement, black people were deemed separate but equal from whites, meaning that they would live
under the same rights as white people, but would be separated from whites in many situations, such as
in schools and at water fountains. Bobby Seale and Huey Newton, immediately after founding the
Black Panther Party in 1966, started to set out goals for how they wanted African Americans to be
treated in the future. Shortly after founding the party, these two men created the 10 point program.

One such incident occurred on October 28, 1967, as John Frey, an Oakland police officer, was shot to
death in an argument with Huey Newton at a traffic stop. Newton claimed that at the scene he was
peacefully explaining to Frey that he it was not justified to arrest him, and Frey had then responded by
punching him in the face and then shooting him in the abdomen, leaving Newton unconscious.
Newton was originally convicted of voluntary manslaughter at his trial, but this was later overturned
in 1970 by the California Court of Appeals. Bobby Seale firmly believed that during this incident,
Newton was acting out of self defense was never meant to harm Frey in anyway. Another violent
event involving the Black Panthers took place on April 7, 1968, when, in a shootout with the Oakland
police, 17 year old panther Bobby Hutton was killed and Eldridge Cleaver was wounded. It became
clear later that Cleaver led the panthers on the ambush of the police officers on purpose, and because
of this he provoked the shootout. Nevertheless, Hutton s death became a rallying issue for the Black
Panther Party in their fight against oppression and unfair treatment. When many people across the
country saw these incidents, it confirmed their beliefs that the Black Panther Party

The Dragon As A Symbol Of Strength, Power, And Good Luck
Every culture throughout the world has their own unique stories of their beginnings and histories, their
own mythologies. In these mythologies there are stories of creations, destruction s, Gods, Goddesses,
heroes, villains, features, and creatures. That last category being one that enraptures them all. The tales
of mythological creatures are ones that have captivated the masses since the beginning. Children are
told stories of the wonderful, and sometimes fearsome, creatures that dominate the world of
mythology. Of all those many creatures, one of the creatures spread through nearly all cultures, in
some form or another, good or bad, is the dragon. In the lands of the East the dragon is often seen as a
symbol of strength, power, and good luck (Wu, 2015), in the Western lands the dragon is often seen as
the opposite, it s seen as destruction and chaos, bringing nothing but terror and bad luck. Which ever
version of the dragon one chooses to believe in, and despite the things children are led to believe in
their bedtime stories, some dragons are more then just monsters that knights slay to save the princess.
Dragons, in their various forms, represent a plethora of things to many different cultures around the
world. This paper will talk about what dragons are, what they mean to the Chinese, Slavic, and Celtic
cultures, their part in the history of those cultures along with the world, and how they continue to
captivate the imagination and teach the people of today. The term

The Mystery Of Iniquity By Lauryn Hill
The audience may think the top of their heads might blow off, when first hearing the song Mystery of
Iniquity by Lauryn Hill. The album that the song was on (MTV Unplugged No. 2.0) went on to sell 5
million copies. Sure, there are females that rap, sure there are other ground breaking studio
productions that were a work of art in and of itself, and sure rappers use lyrics that connect to
relationships, politics, faith, and cultural criticism, but not like the famous Lauryn Hill. The poetic
devices in Lauryn Hill s Mystery of Iniquity reveal society s inevitable self destruction through
societal stigmas and stereotypes, justice system flaws, and religious references. To all the people who
said that hip hop had nothing important to say, and had not a lick of musical bone in them, this song

A New Idea For The Proposal Of Race
A New Idea for the Proposal of Race to the Students of UC Merced
Leo Alonso Cabrera
Professor Danielson
Writing 010 31
UC Merced
Introduction o Introduce the theme of your essay, which revolves around the concepts of race and how
college students choose to break social norms
 College students are typically introduced to new, and often time radical ideas, that are very different
from the ones that they are shown in home.
 Personal Anecdote: Before coming to school here in UCM, my dad would often talk to me in many
different occasions throughout my life about the concept of race and what it represents: o Honor o
Family o Education o Class
Many times he would emphasize to me that people of other races do not have the ability to value the
same things as a Hispanic would, and would many times reference the family of my Ex Girlfriend,
whose family is Native American and would often use stereotypes, such as Indian Alcoholism to show
me how their priorities are different than mine. She is not going to a UC, and thus he makes that point
of comparison on education to show how successful I am because of my Hispanic values can surpass
the concerns of an alcoholic Native American family.
Now propose the question o What is Race?
 It is a concept that is created by Man to essentially control Man0 (The use of the law, Hudgins v.
Wright, p. 965).
 According to Lopez, Race [to me] is defined as a vast group of people loosely bound together by

Supreme Court Decision-Making
Segal, Timpone and Howard s article Buyer Beware? (2000) draws upon existing research into the
appointment of Supreme Court justices by seeking to empirically prove Robert Dahl s 1957 theory
that a justice s voting typically reflects the policy preferences of the president who appointed them,
thereby allowing presidents to achieve their policy goals even after leaving office (pp. 557 558). The
authors clarify this by stating that in the event of a clear correlation, concordance should not be
considered synonymous with responsiveness. Put simply, the research is not proposing that Supreme
Court justices are directly influenced by the decisions of the president who appoints them, but merely
that the president and appointee share the same political ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Hulbary and Walker note in The Supreme Court Selection Process (1980), presidents may consider
a range of factors when selecting their desired justice, such as age, race, religion and the likelihood of
the nomination gaining the Senate s approval. Thus, it would be reductive to conclude from Segal,
Timpone and Howard s research that shared policy preferences are the primary goal of a nominating
president in all cases. The authors rightfully acknowledge this by highlighting Dwight Eisenhower s
nomination of William J. Brennan, a justice far more liberal than his appointer who is widely believed
to have been chosen as a concession to northern liberals before the 1956 election (pp. 569 570). A
more recent example of this trend would be the 2016 nomination of Merrick Garland to the Supreme
Court by Barack Obama. While it is unlikely that the centrist Garland would have been Obama s first
choice to fill the vacant seat left by Antonin Scalia, he may now represent the least worst scenario,
insofar as he stands a small chance of being approved by an obstructionist Republican Senate. If this
occurs, it would surely be treated as a victory by the current White House administration. As such, it is
important not to automatically conflate ideological differences between president and justice with a
failed appointment, a trap that the article occasionally falls into (p.

An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge
An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge is a story that expresses how far your imagination can take you

how in the last moments of a man s life, he vividly imagines escaping his death. Only to reveal that it

In our lives time is consistent and we never really think about questioning it. Part 3 also portrays this
theme. If you only regard the first sentence and the last sentence you can see how everything in
between was solely the main characters illusion, despite it seeming like it lasted longer. As Peyton

How Does Hrothgar Use Figurative Language In Beowulf
Over time, the individuals within Herot have become aware of the evils and menacing conditions that
have sprung from Grendel s and his mother environment. Unfortunately, Beowulf s boastful attitude
and past war experiences with numerous creatures has led him to undermine dangers of the lair.
During Hrothgar s speech to Beowulf, Hrothgar uses figurative language, vivid imagery, and
displeasing syntax to demonstrate how Grendel s environment is filled with treachery, hellish
components, and danger, creating a sense of fear and concern for Beowulf, which will allow him to
develop a humble attitude. The poem provides a description on how creatures that possess superior

Bullies Vs Dictators
Your typical school bully and a country s dictator, what s the difference? When asked this question
many said, One rules the school, while the other one rules a country. . The truth is, there are many
differences between the two, but with differences comes similarities. What are some differences
between these two tyrannical figures? First, we need to know what a dictator and a school bully is. A
dictator is a ruler with total power over a country. One of the most well known dictators is Adolf
Hitler. Adolf was a dictator who was considered the most terrifying man of his time . A school bully is
a person who uses strength or power to harm or intimidate those who are weaker. Now that you know
the definitions of each, we can go on into the differences between the two. The most important
difference between the two is why they treat people inadequately. School bullies overpower people
because they feel insecure about themselves. Dictators, on the other hand, treat people atrociously
because they strive for power. The next difference is that a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

laws. If they contravene, they will have to face the consequences. Ultimately, a school bully and a
dictator are both excellent speakers. Both figures can get themselves out of a sticky situation. When a
bully gets questioned by an administrator, they speak smoothly and often avoid getting punished.

  • 2. Christian Vs Ephesians Christianity is not an ideal, it s a lifestyle choice. You are not born into a religion, you are not a Christian, Jewish, Buddhist or any specific religion from birth, you are raised as to be that religion. C.S. Lewis is an example of someone who was brought up in a Protestant household, lost faith through his teen years and found Christianity in college. We develop our religion throughout our years, growing more knowledgeable from our experiences and realizing that each of God s teachings can relate back to us on a day to day basis. Each book in the Bible is like stories with a lesson. Mere Christianity taught similar lessons to those in the Bible, but with a philosophical point of view. C.S. Lewis could take his experiences and relate them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Nicene Creed, it is said that God is the maker of heaven and earth, and all things visible and invisible. Lewis talks about a crown, which is a symbol for God and eternity (Lewis 137). Without God, having created heaven and earth or having the power to create an afterlife, there would be no basis for people to be decent or live just lives. The Nicene Creed relates to C.S. Lewis Mere Christianity because one provides the creation of an afterlife and the other provides imagery of the divine life to come. In the memory text of Ephesians, it talks about how God gave us Jesus Christ through his will and then about the crucifixion of Christ and how that lead to forgiveness of our sins, which was a fulfillment in Christ. The first two sections of the Nicene Creed are about God and Jesus. The sections talk of God being the Father and Jesus is the only Son of God, then further down talks about how Jesus was crucified and then rose again. These two sections are relative to each other because they talk about Jesus being crucified and then rising again for the forgiveness of our sins, which is the basis of the religion Christians believe ... • 3. Organ Of The Organ System Organ transplantation has been around for about 61 years. The first successful transplantation took place on December 23, 1954 by Dr. Joseph Murray and Dr. David Hume at Brigham Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. That transplantation being successful on that day has saved many lives to this day ( Transplantation ). The only legal way to get an organ transplant is through organ donation. In the United States alone, there are about 122,690 people on the waiting list today and only 10,051 donors. Every ten minutes, someone is added to the waiting list and 22 people that are on the waiting list dies everyday ( Organ Procurement ). There have been many debates on the matter of only being able to obtain an organ through donation. Some people believe that there should be a legal market to sell organs. In these debates, people must take other matters into consideration. The sale of organs may have an effect the environment, the different cultures, the economy, ethics, politics, or even science and technology. Weather these effects would be good or bad is up to debate. There have been many debates on the issue of the legalization of the sale of human organs. One person to debate on the issue was Dr. Monti. She put out an elaborate paper on how the sale of human organs would benefit the economy. Jennifer Monti has a medical and master s degree in public health and her research has been published in academic journals. Her other writings have been recognized by the New York Times ... • 4. DNA Based Conviction Case Study The first DNA based conviction in the United States occurred shortly after in 1987 when the Circuit Court in Orange County, Florida, convicted Tommy Lee Andrews of rape after DNA tests matched his DNA from a blood sample with that of semen traces found in a rape victim (Calandro, 2005). It was two years later that DNA was again ruled admissible in a Virginia state ruling. In the years that followed the use of DNA in trial proceeding was not disputed. It was not until the technique of obtaining the evidence was more largely used did the practice become questionable. In the court case People of New York vs. Castro, it was the laboratory s procedures that were called into question. This case was a landmark murder case commonly cited as the ... • 5. The September 11th Attack on the World Trade Center In the early 1960 s, executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Austin J Tobin, brought forward the proposal for a giant skyscraper complex in order to accommodate for much needed office space in Lower Manhattan. The plan was met with considerable opposition at first, but Tobin s proposal eventually succeeded, and Japanese American Minoru Yamasaki was commissioned to design the building. Yamasaki projected a novel design for a development that included two 110 storey twin towers . Upon completion in 1971, they were the tallest towers in the world, a record the infrastructure held for two years. At 8.14am, as the aircraft was passing over central Massachusetts, the stewardesses began serving beverages. Suddenly five men stood up and began making their way towards the cockpit. Two stewardesses tried to intervene, but the men stabbed them with small pocket knives that they had successfully smuggled past airport security. The following screams and sight of blood caused panic among the passengers. A passenger tried to interpose one of the hijackers, but he was also stabbed. The remaining passengers watched on helplessly as the hijackers entered the cockpit. The aircraft was now in the hands of the al Qaeda hijackers, one of whom was himself a trained pilot. Mohammed Atta, lead hijacker, turned the aircraft sharply to the south and set a new course for New York City. At 8.46am American Airlines Flight 11, appeared low in the sky above Manhattan. Flying at a speed of around 750km/h, the aircraft slammed into the North Tower of the World Trade Centre between the 93rd and 99th floors. The impact triggered a huge explosion as an estimated 10,000 gallons of jet fuel, needed for the intended journey to Los Angles ignited. All the passengers, including hijackers died instantly; hundreds working in the tower were also killed upon the impact. Shipler tries to get across to his readers that work does not always work. The main topic addressed is ultimately the dilemmas of public aid. Shipler illustrates this in chapter 2 of his novel by explaining the lives of three hard working woman who are stuck in the poverty cycle. Just because these women have a job, does not mean that they are able to free themselves from poverty. Such things can lead to difficulties at home and even the possibility of having more children; which in return would lead to more expenses. If there are issues at home due to fighting with the significant other that will then lead to the women s work being affected and threatening their already low income. Majority of the women s money goes to two major things; expenses on day care and food for their children. The major issue of the two expenses lies within the food that is purchased for their children. It is because the women are hardly home because they are out working to make a living that the children are in need of quick, easy to make foods. Most foods that require little to no cooking typically fall under the unhealthy or junk food category. • 13. New York City, Brooklyn, Queens, And Staten Island Essay New York City is made up of five boroughs, which include the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island. Within these boroughs, there are high and low income neighborhoods that contain either high or low status organizational structures or facilities. Each division has their own characteristics and top attractions, such as the Empire State building, Central Park, or Times Square. As New York City may be known for great food and fun attractions, New York faces infrastructure problems within each borough. New York City s infrastructure funding is limited in lower income neighborhoods, where money needed to upkeep the city goes toward prime tourist s areas or residents living in high status neighborhoods, such as The Upper East Side of Manhattan, Cobble Hill, Brooklyn, and Lenox Hill, Manhattan. Moreover, abandoned buildings, poor sewage conditions, and rocky roads and streets are examples of low income area infrastructure problems that may hinder neighborhood growth both structurally and economically. Harlem, East Brooklyn, and South Bronx are low income parts of New York that lack new and refined facilities, roads, plumbing, and fundamental structures, which contribute to high crime and arrests. Bennet and her relations have already acquired a higher social status by the marriage with Mr. Bennet and this status is only to become higher with the marriages of Elizabeth and Jane. Elizabeth, who is a daughter of an aristocratic gentleman and mother from the middle class, at the end marries to one of the wealthiest aristocrats in England. Elizabeth s marriage to Mr. Darcy is one of the greatest match in Austen s novels. Until the very end of the story it is nearly impossible for Eliza to think of marrying Darcy because of the great social distance between their families. It is equally difficult for Darcy to think of marrying her. When Darcy proposes to Elizabeth, he says that the reason why he hardly admitted his feelings towards her was the distinction between the classes they belonged to. There are different views on the extent of social difference between them. In Lady Catherine s eyes Elizabeth is a nobody, with upstart pretensions , a woman shrewdly on the make, who will pollute the shades of Pemberley . Elizabeth herself, however, is not overwhelmed by the social difference. He is a gentleman; I am a gentleman s daughter; so far we are equal , she claims calmly. (Coperland et al. 1997). She demonstrates that marriage should be a choice made for love by allowing Elizabeth to remain in the power of choice even in spite of social pressures. Austen shows the good effects of a marriage based on love and the positive effects, which can come from it. As mentioned above, Lady Catherine represented the dying aristocratic class. That she has lost much of her social authority can be seen in the scene where Lady Catherine visits Elizabeth to speak about the relationship between her and her nephew Mr. Darcy. His article looks at two types of model building in IR. First, the traditional model of systems thinking set forth by John Dunlop, one of the pioneers of IR theory. In the exogenous gradual model, IR change occurs due to gradual, cumulative change that is driven by forces beyond the employment control. An example is globalization. In the exogenous disjunctive model, episodes of change are interspersed with periods of stability. The change itself is triggered into the employment relationship by some external event, like a war. In the exogenous cyclical model, change follows a repeating cycle of decline and renewal as IR adapts to cyclical pressures in the external environment, such as election pressures and the economy. In the endogenous cyclical model, change occurs because of the competing drives of the actors. For example, IR is said to be both adversarial (due to the competing interests) and cooperative (due to interdependence of the parties). Thus IR will oscillate between adversarial and cooperative mindsets depending on the context as the limitations of each approach become apparent to both management and workers. In the endogenous disjunctive model, change occurs as a result of strategic choices of the actors within the employment relations. For example, as a result of unions traditional marginalization of women s and minorities issues, there has been an increased mobilization of women and minorities within unions. Positive Effects Of Underdevelopment In Africa underdevelopment in Africa was made possible by positive feedback loops starting with the uneven development in earlier centuries enforced by European constant exploitation of raw materials and human labor from Africa. It traces the root of underdevelopment Africa back to the pre colonial period. The natural path of development from communalism to feudalism and capitalism in Africa was messed up by the European slave trade. The trade in slave was facilitated by African rulers greed for luxury goods and European products. Every day approximately 29 people in the United States die because of driving under the influence. The most terrible part about this is when innocent people die because of the actions of another. I believe the recurrence of DUI s are mainly caused by people who do not take the related dangers seriously and look at the penalties as not that severe. Literature Review On Atherosclerosis Literature Review Draft Atherosclerosis is characterised by gradual decrease in the luminal diameter of large arteries, it has major health implications and contributes to around 50% of all deaths within westernized countries (7). Patients can undergo coronary artery stenting to prolong the effects of this. Treatments for this have undergone major developments over the past 40 years, including balloon angioplasty in 1977, development of bare metal stents (BMS) in the 1980 s, introduction of drug eluting stents (DES) in 2000 (43) and current research into incorporating NO donors into stents. The first stent implantation performed on a human was conducted in 1986 (13), since then they have become one of the most common ways of intervention due to atherosclerosis. In the US there are 500,000 people who undergo stenting annually (42). The success of stenting is inhibited by the reoccurrence of restenosis. A young navy member then snuck onto the ship and set it on fire during an enemy gun fire, destroying any goods the pirates could get their hands on or even stop them from rebuilding the ship and turning it against the United States Navy. The war would continue for a while until finally peace agreements were made and the U.S Navy fled the scene. This whole action by Jefferson showed braveness in not only him but the U.S Navy to ... • 31. Black Panther Party Goals Black Panther Party During the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s, the Black Panther Party became a very controversial organization that demanded black people be treated with equality. Before the movement, black people were deemed separate but equal from whites, meaning that they would live under the same rights as white people, but would be separated from whites in many situations, such as in schools and at water fountains. Bobby Seale and Huey Newton, immediately after founding the Black Panther Party in 1966, started to set out goals for how they wanted African Americans to be treated in the future. Shortly after founding the party, these two men created the 10 point program. Some of the main goals set in this program were full employment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One such incident occurred on October 28, 1967, as John Frey, an Oakland police officer, was shot to death in an argument with Huey Newton at a traffic stop. Newton claimed that at the scene he was peacefully explaining to Frey that he it was not justified to arrest him, and Frey had then responded by punching him in the face and then shooting him in the abdomen, leaving Newton unconscious. Newton was originally convicted of voluntary manslaughter at his trial, but this was later overturned in 1970 by the California Court of Appeals. Bobby Seale firmly believed that during this incident, Newton was acting out of self defense was never meant to harm Frey in anyway. Another violent event involving the Black Panthers took place on April 7, 1968, when, in a shootout with the Oakland police, 17 year old panther Bobby Hutton was killed and Eldridge Cleaver was wounded. It became clear later that Cleaver led the panthers on the ambush of the police officers on purpose, and because of this he provoked the shootout. Nevertheless, Hutton s death became a rallying issue for the Black Panther Party in their fight against oppression and unfair treatment. When many people across the country saw these incidents, it confirmed their beliefs that the Black Panther Party ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. A New Idea For The Proposal Of Race A New Idea for the Proposal of Race to the Students of UC Merced Leo Alonso Cabrera Professor Danielson Writing 010 31 UC Merced Introduction o Introduce the theme of your essay, which revolves around the concepts of race and how college students choose to break social norms  College students are typically introduced to new, and often time radical ideas, that are very different from the ones that they are shown in home.  Personal Anecdote: Before coming to school here in UCM, my dad would often talk to me in many different occasions throughout my life about the concept of race and what it represents: o Honor o Family o Education o Class Many times he would emphasize to me that people of other races do not have the ability to value the same things as a Hispanic would, and would many times reference the family of my Ex Girlfriend, whose family is Native American and would often use stereotypes, such as Indian Alcoholism to show me how their priorities are different than mine. She is not going to a UC, and thus he makes that point of comparison on education to show how successful I am because of my Hispanic values can surpass the concerns of an alcoholic Native American family. Now propose the question o What is Race?  It is a concept that is created by Man to essentially control Man0 (The use of the law, Hudgins v. Wright, p. 965).  According to Lopez, Race [to me] is defined as a vast group of people loosely bound together by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Supreme Court Decision-Making Segal, Timpone and Howard s article Buyer Beware? (2000) draws upon existing research into the appointment of Supreme Court justices by seeking to empirically prove Robert Dahl s 1957 theory that a justice s voting typically reflects the policy preferences of the president who appointed them, thereby allowing presidents to achieve their policy goals even after leaving office (pp. 557 558). The authors clarify this by stating that in the event of a clear correlation, concordance should not be considered synonymous with responsiveness. Put simply, the research is not proposing that Supreme Court justices are directly influenced by the decisions of the president who appoints them, but merely that the president and appointee share the same political ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Hulbary and Walker note in The Supreme Court Selection Process (1980), presidents may consider a range of factors when selecting their desired justice, such as age, race, religion and the likelihood of the nomination gaining the Senate s approval. Thus, it would be reductive to conclude from Segal, Timpone and Howard s research that shared policy preferences are the primary goal of a nominating president in all cases. The authors rightfully acknowledge this by highlighting Dwight Eisenhower s nomination of William J. Brennan, a justice far more liberal than his appointer who is widely believed to have been chosen as a concession to northern liberals before the 1956 election (pp. 569 570). A more recent example of this trend would be the 2016 nomination of Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court by Barack Obama. While it is unlikely that the centrist Garland would have been Obama s first choice to fill the vacant seat left by Antonin Scalia, he may now represent the least worst scenario, insofar as he stands a small chance of being approved by an obstructionist Republican Senate. If this occurs, it would surely be treated as a victory by the current White House administration. As such, it is important not to automatically conflate ideological differences between president and justice with a failed appointment, a trap that the article occasionally falls into (p. ... As Peyton Farquhar fell straight downward through the bridge he lost consciousness and was as one already dead. . .. Peyton Farquhar was dead; his body, with a broken neck, swung gently from side to side beneath the timbers of Owl Creek Bridge. (Hmd.
