Unit 3 M2 Health And Social Care Essay
Amendment P3) Carry out a risk assessment in a health or social care setting. M2) Assess the hazards
identified in the health or social care setting. D1) Make recommendations in relation to the identified
hazards to minimise the risks to the service user. For the purpose of this essay I went to the local mall
to observe what hazards there are. I am going to assess the hazards that I identified in this setting and I
am going to make some recommendations in relation to the identified hazards to minimise the risk to
the service users. According to Excalibur Solicitors There are some common shopping centre

Although the young children cannot read, at least the carer is warned. This will allow them to take
special care with their hot food and drinks when they have children with them. Keeping hot drinks and
food out of the reach of young children will also minimise the risk of them getting burnt, as said by
North Bristol NHS trust. They also recommend that hot drinks should not be held at the same time as
holding another child. Another adjustment they could make could be to put hot drinks into a special
cup with a lid, that when tipped over does not spill and hot food could be left to cool for a few minutes
before being served, meaning that it is not piping hot. As long as the parents and guardians are aware
of the dangers associated with hot food and drinks, then this hazard shouldn t hold a very high
likelihood. My reasoning for suggesting this is that it will reduce the likelihood of a child or an
individual getting burnt if the drink falls as the lid will stop the drink from spilling. The existing
controls that are in place in the food court in the mall are signs warning of hot surfaces and although
most adults should know that food will be served hot, I still believe signs for hot food should be
shown. I would recommend this because it will remind the adults that the food may burn and this will
in turn make them think more before giving the child the hot food. To get to the higher floors in the
mall there are stairs, lifts or

The Birth Of Pregnancy After C Sections
A majority of mothers prepare for their pregnancies with full intention of a vaginal birth at the end of
their third trimester. However, there is a possibility that medical conditions could arise, such as a baby
who is positioned incorrectly, preeclampsia, or toxemia. Therefore, a cesarean delivery is the safest
way. Most believe that subsequent pregnancies require subsequent C sections. Today, many mothers
are opting for VBACs aka vaginal birth after C sections. A C Section, or Cesarean Section, is a major
surgery to deliver a baby who may suffer from complications or could be breech. They may also be
done in response to the mother and the complications that she may have. It is done by cutting through
the wall of the mother s abdomen. It can be life threatening to the mother and the baby. It can raise the
risk to the mother and could even complicate future pregnancies. American College of Obstetricians
and Gynecologist suggest offering the opportunity to pursue a VBAC. An evidence review in 2003
found that overall VBAC success rates were greater than fifty percent (Ebelle 1192 4). This study
shows that the success rate of VBACs are improving each year. C Sections are the most common
surgery in the U.S. and account for about one third of all U.S. births today. Since the 1990s, the C
Section rate has risen sixty percent (Shute: Doctors Urge.... ). The risk of a C Section to a mother
include but are not limited to: weakened uterus, bladder injuries, and/or blood

Example Of Conduit Metaphor
2. Highlighting and Hiding
When explaining even more thoroughly the systematicity feature, Lakoff and Johnson referred to
Michael Reddy s (1979) conduit metaphor : it is when a part of our experience is hidden by a
metaphorical concept; He believes that our language about language is organized or even designed as
the following metaphor:
Ideas (or meanings) are perceived as objects , Linguistic expressions are perceived as containers and
communication is perceived as sending . This means that when someone wants to say an expression
(the object), he puts concepts into words (which are the container) and sends them along a conduit to
the person who is hearing him and who takes the concept out of the words which means out of the
containers. Examples of the conduit metaphor are: I gave you that idea , it is difficult to put my ideas
into words and Her words carry little meaning . George Lakoff talked about Reddy and he said that his
theory and Reddy s are similar because they both imply that metaphors are ... Show more content on

Types of Conceptual Metaphors according to Lakoff Johnson
Lakoff Johnson define conceptual metaphors as understanding and experiencing one kind of thing in
terms of another and argue that the way human beings think and talk is largely metaphorical. Lakoff
and Johnson prove that humans often speak in metaphors when they talk about any concept without
noticing it. Conceptual metaphors play a very important role in our lives and combines both linguistic
and cognitive domains. They identified three categories of conceptual metaphors:
1. Orientational metaphors:
Oriental metaphors are metaphors in which concepts are given spatial orientation: up down, front
back, on off, central peripheral. For example, HAPPY IS UP and SAD IS DOWN ; the fact that the
concept happy is oriented up and the concept sad is oriented down leads to English expressions like I
m feeling up today , That boosted my spirits and I m feeling down , I fell into a

The Collapse of the Domino --- Chinese Real Estate
With the outbreak of the U.S. financial crisis in 2008, the whole world s financial situation is not
good, but except one, which is China. However, many people find out that China is walking on the old
U.S. economic way, which means China will have economic crisis either. So right now, all the eyes
from all the countries are watching at China s economy, because if Chinese economic collapse, there
are no more people buy Japanese animations and European luxuries. And after the economic crisis,
China will recovery U.S. Treasury bonds, but American unable to pay, then the whole world economy
is facing collapse; we can call that butterfly effect. So right now, in this context, the same conditions,
and the same nature of the Chinese economy grows up, any black swan events are likely to be the fuse
of Chinese financial crisis, and even the world economic crisis fuse. For example, the author of
Chinese Citizens Have Their Eyes on Bubble, C. Cindy Fan mentions that the fuse of Chinese
economic crisis is real estate. Right now, Chinese people put all their savings into real estate, which
led to the housing bubble, but because of consumer demand, the government is unable to stop it. (Fan)
I agree with Fan s idea, which is Chinese economy will collapse because of Chinese real estate bubble.
Consequently, whether China will have the financial crisis, the focus should be on the how big is the
China s real estate bubble, and when will it burst. As for how big is the China s real

The And Consequences Of The 2008 Economic Crisis
There were many causes and consequences of the 2008 economic meltdown from different groups.
Parties such as banks, individuals, and the government were all responsible for causing the economic
meltdown. One factor was an overdependence on credit (Andrews 2009:1). In addition, struggling
businesses relying on the banks also contributed to the 2008 economic meltdown (Gross 2009:18).
Also, lax government policies like the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) contributed to the 2008
economic crisis (Gross 2009:30 31). These were the factors that led to the 2008 economic meltdown.
American individuals were among the many factors that led to the economic meltdown in the U.S. in
2008. This proves to be the case as Americans were likely to depend on ... Show more content on

As a result, consumers were able to buy items that they were unable to afford. Cars were another
popular good that consumers purchased. Daniel Gross writes: Americans bought 16.8 million cars in
2002, and would buy nearly 17 million cars per year for each of the following three years. Car
industry sales, which accounted for between 15 percent and 20 percent of US retail sales, had always
depended upon the availability of credit (Gross 2009:42). This points to the fact that consumers took
advantage of credit in order to buy cars as it enabled the consumers to take out money in order to pay
for a car if they did not have enough of their own money. However, easy access to loans led to dire
consequences for individuals. Based on the article by Edmund Andrews, he had a lot of debt and faced
the consequences of higher interest rates all while he left his bills unpaid (Andrews 2009:3). The last
thing Chase wants is to foreclose on your home, JPMorgan Chase wrote us. It assured us that it
wanted to help and was willing to evaluate us for a number of alternatives. If we didn t resolve our
payment delinquency, it politely warned, you will lose your home (Andrews 2009:3). Based on the
article, what was worse than rising debt for individuals who bought homes and did not have sufficient
money was the threat of foreclosure when the banks took away the homes of individuals. Individuals
who had a harder time making ends

The Beach Literary Analysis Paper
The Beach by Alex Garland Analysis Paper There are some travelers who see a paradise as their final
destination; however, it may end up to be exactly opposite of what a paradise should be. This can be
seen in Alex Garland s The Beach. The novel is about several backpackers, Richard, Francoise, and
Etienne, who come together and travel to an island community, their paradise, within Thailand.
Ultimately, the story portrays the idea of a utopia like society taking a turn for the worst and becoming
a dystopia, something that the backpackers would not have expected. Throughout the story, the theme
of a utopia turning into a dystopia could be seen through symbolism such as the cancer of traveling
and the destruction that it brings. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Along the way, Richard left behind instructions on how to get to the island for Americans that they
met along the way. Mainly because it is in a secure area, it can be inferred that something bad will
eventually happen on the islands, thus creating a clear image of how the cancer spreads. The spread of
this cancer initially starts when Daffy shares the secret beach with Richard and his friends, who later
shares it with other travelers. By the time they arrive on the island, Richard, Etienne, and Francois
discover that the beach is right next to another island with fields that cultivate marijuana which can
also foreshadows negative events to happen.
For a while life on the island started out perfect, like a true utopian society as Richard states You fish,
swim, eat, laze around, and everyone s so friendly. It s such simple stuff, but... If I could stop the
world and restart life, put the clock back, I think I d restart it like this. For everyone. (Beach 106.)
However, right when life on the beach paradise started to seem perfect, a chain of unfortunate events
began to occur. A shark attack took place causing the severe injury in one member and the death of
another and after becoming an outcast from the rest of the community, the man who was injured was
later killed. Afterwards, a majority of the travelers in the community ate raw food which led to more
than half of them to undergo a serious illness. With the whole

your risk of miscarriage or still birth, preterm labor, placenta abruption, fetal death and even maternal

John Brown And The Abolition Movement
also the value of non violent resistance supported by the transcendentalists and, There were many
prominent figures in the Abolition movement that made great strides to freedom. Most took the route
of political campaigning, but a few decided to take a more direct approach. One said individual is John
Brown. John Brown was a white abolitionist born in Connecticut who simply grew tired of the pacifist
approach and took up arms with a few volunteers against slavery. Brown was born the son of Owen
Brown, a tanner, in the town of Torrington, Connecticut. The Browns were conventional evangelicals,
and John went to school in Massachusetts to become a Congregationalist minister. Unfortunately he
ran out of money and returned to his family and opened his own tannery with his brother. He soon
started a family and his tannery was growing to a very successful business. A few years came to pass,
and tragedy struck his family. One of his sons died, Brown became very sick, he incurred a
tremendous amount of debt, and his wife passed shortly after the death of a newborn son. A year later
he would marry 16 year old Mary Ann, and have 13 children, creating a total of 20 children of which
only 11 would survive into adulthood. After moving his family to the town of Franklin Mills, Ohio, he
opened a new tannery but soon fell victim to the Panic of 1837, leaving him in more debt. He took up
horse and sheep breeding, as well as many other efforts to relieve himself of his debts. Brown was

Young Goodman Brown
Nathaniel Hawthorne s classic tale Young Goodman Brown is a good example of a short story
embodying both characteristics of realism and characteristics of romanticism.
M. H. Abrams defines romantic themes in prominent writers of this school in the late eighteenth and
early nineteenth centuries as being five in number: (1) innovations in the materials, forms and style;
(2) that the work involve a spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings ; (3) that external nature be a
persistent subject with a sensuous nuance and accuracy in its description; (4) that the reader be invited
to identify the protagonist with the author himself; and (5) that this be an age of new beginnings and
high possibilities for the person (177 79). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Well; she s a blessed angel on earth; and after this one night, I ll cling to her skirts and follow her to
Heaven.
With this excellent resolve for the future, Goodman Brown felt himself justified in making more haste
on his present evil
purpose.
After Deacon Gookin and the minister had passed by, the reader feels the very feelings of Brown:
Whither, then, could these holy men be journeying, so deep into the heathen wilderness? Young
Goodman Brown caught hold of a tree, for support, being ready to sink down on the ground, faint and
overburthened with the heavy sickness of his heart. He looked up to the sky, doubting whether there
really
was a Heaven above him.
Secondly, a spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings is Abrams next criterion for romantic writing.
And for a certainty there is considerably much of this in Young Goodman Brown, especially as the
climax approaches.
Faith! shouted Goodman Brown, in a voice of agony and desperation; and the echoes of the forest
mocked him, crying Faith! Faith! as if bewildered wretches were seeking her, all through the
wilderness.
The cry of grief, rage, and terror, was yet piercing the night, when the unhappy husband held his
breath for a response.
. . . My Faith is gone! cried he, after one stupefied moment. There is no good on earth; and sin is but a
name. Come, devil! for to thee is this world given.

Compare the Endings in Two Different Theatre of the Absurd...
Harold Pinter and Samuel Beckett are two of the biggest exponents of The Theatre of the Absurd.
Both of their works present a world which cannot be logically explained, where the scenery, the
language and the actions of the characters are almost incomprehensible and do not comply with the
previously accepted norms of theatre. J.L Styan writes about Pinter. His audience is made to feel,
through an exquisite friction of nightmare and normality, the earthly need for security (The Dark
Comedy) I think this quote applies to Beckett too, however. Both of the plays I will look at are very
sinister, subversive plays, riddled with dark humour. What is important to remember is that the plays

Stanley, is a grumpy, ungrateful character, I think Pinter tries to encourage an instant dislike of him in
the reader. The conversations are short throughout the section until the arrival of Goldberg and
McCann, we don t find out a lot about anyone. From events in the lives of the characters to their
motives and emotions e.g. we are given no reason for Stanley s breakdown when they are playing
blind mans buff, all we can assume is that it is the work of Goldberg and Mccann that has caused him
to behave in this way. Pinter refuses to provide rational explanations for his characters (www.imagi
nation.com) It is this deliberate withholding of information that adds to the sense of mystery and
absurdity, doom and uncertainty. This is how Pinter builds up the sense of tension because, often, the
reader assumes something worse than what is the actual reality in the play. The use of language helps
to build the sense of tension in another way too; we see characters controlling the situation

Success And Sustainability Of A Business
Many entrepreneurs aspire to own or operate their own business. After deciding on the purpose and
mission of the company, one must chose a form of organization for the business to operate under.
These organizational forms include sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation or a limited liability
company. Not only does this decision determine how many individuals are involved in the ownership
of the business, but it also determines what laws, regulations and guidelines must be followed to
ensure success and sustainability of a business.
Across the United States, the majority of small businesses are owned and operated by one person,
which is called sole proprietorship (Liuzzo, 2016). As the most widespread, least expensive business
to establish, many small business entrepreneurs tend to take this path to avoid the need to hiring
employees, pay for expensive locations, evade corporate taxes and to maintain complete control of all
business transactions. Evident by the 2013 tax returns, the benefits of sole proprietorship sound
appealing with approximately 24.1 million individual income tax returns reported sole proprietorship
activity, a 2.2 percent increase from 2012 (Dungan, 2016).
Although the advantages appear to be rewarding for this independent business adventure, being the
primary owner faces a number of difficulties. These disadvantages are not only hardships for the
business but they are also direct liabilities for the business owner. The owner has unlimited personal

Examples Of Honesty In Othello
Othello written by William Shakespeare is a play centered around the theme of fidelity and honesty. In
Iago s own words during act 2 scene 1 lines 223 248. The main villain in this story, Iago is driven by
the way women act. Iago is the main villain throughout the story, he is very twisted in the web of lies
he strings to manipulate the purity of people. His actions are motived by the jealousy of a main
character Cassio, and the anger through his story of an affair between Othello and his wife.
In Iago s speech, he speaks about the relationship between Othello and Desdemona in the sense that
she will one day get tired of Othello and move on to someone better. He expresses how easily she fell

The act of honesty is repeated throughout the story line of Othello, but in different ways. There is
honesty in the commitment of a relationship, honesty between two people, honesty in the truth about
the true character. When Iago is speaking with Roderigo in the speech, his shows honesty with the
idea of Desdemona falling for another guy. In the rest of the story Iago shows to other people that he is
an honest man who people can trust and depend on. Though anyone who is reading the book can
easily see that none of what he says to expresses to other people is truly honest. Affected by the
jealousy of Cassio getting the position, Iago is angered to make a plan to get the position instead of
Cassio. First proving that Cassio is not fit, then pinning an affair between Cassio and Othello s wife
Desdemona. He pins little details like a handkerchief that Othello gave Desdemona, in Cassio s, then
brought Othello to see that. Once he has Othello believing his wife was cheating on him, Iago misses
that his own wife isn t necessarily on his side. Iago s wife Emelia ends up telling everyone the truth,
sadly after Othello does go unhinged and kills Desdemona. In the end the story shows that love and
honesty go hand in hand. Dishonesty makes love grow weak, like it did between Desdemona and
Othello. Iago s actions were majorly punishable by death, not getting him what he had wanted. He
manipulated so many people in efforts to get a single position, but ruins everyone s life around him
without having a single care about what he is doing. The idea of honesty is repeated to dramatize the
idea of what happens when honesty is betrayed. If Iago were to have been an honest man, he wouldn t

Margherita Dolce Vita Summary
In the story, Margherita Dolce Vita, there is an adolescent named Angelo. Angelo is a mysterious
character that does not show up often in the book. When he does show up, he is mostly with his new
neighbor, Margherita. He acts differently than one might call a normal person. Angelo could be
experiencing schizophrenia based off of symptoms he expresses in the story Margherita Dolce Vita.
However since he is mostly with Margherita, someone he likes more than a friend, it is hard to tell
what the evidence points towards. According to, The National Institute of Mental Health(NIMH),
schizophrenia is defined as a chronic and severe mental disorder that affects the person mentally,
physically and behaviorally. Even though it is not common, it is possible for children(15 and younger)
to have schizophrenia. It is more common for people to start showing symptoms from between 16 and
30 years of age. There are three kinds of symptoms, of which are in their own groups. There are
positive symptoms which are psychotic behaviors not generally seen in healthy people. People
affected by positive symptoms may not have a strong sense of what is reality or not reality. The
symptoms include hallucinations, delusions, thought process (atypical thinking), and movement
disorders. There are also negative symptoms, which are associated with disruptions in behavior and
emotions. These symptoms include flat affect(reduced expressions), reduced feelings of pleasure in

this needs to be more conceptualized by 2018. In 2018, some people will have to change from HTTP
to HTTPS to increase search engine ranking.
App Marketing and Indexing
Majority of people are spending an average of 30 hours each month on apps. Mobile devices allow
you to connect with your audience. Brand strengthening and app marketing will be of great
importance in 2018. Customers are more likely to purchase their products and services from a brand
listed among the top of the SERPs.
Visual Content Preference
2018 is expected to be the year where more users respond to videos and pictures. The popularity of
social media sites shows that images and videos get instant likes and shares, which makes the pages

Keyence Vhx-5000 Week 3 Problem Analysis Paper
The digital microscope Keyence VHX 5000 is a method, which is easy to handle and supports
research with high resolution images and the calculation of 3D surface models. Several functions
make it easy and quick to work with: The 3D function also allows clear 2D images of a rough surface,
because all levels are focused automatically and a sharp image of all levels will be created. This
function makes it easy to analyse deep cuts, which can be only partially focused in light microscopy or
electron microscopy. To calculate a 3D surface model the lower and upper border of the depth of
interest has to be determined, by focusing on these levels. Between these borders a level difference of
five microns were chosen. In other words, after every scan the lens moves five microns from the
sample away. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To avoid steps between the different levels, the edges will be rounded. Therefore a minimal resolution
of five microns is valid for the cut mark measurements, although the software allows measurements
till to decimals because of its logarithm to calculate the surface. In this dissertation, all measurements
are fully specified. However, a less accuracy of values less than five microns must not be forgotten.
Higher resolutions till one micrometre are also possible, but the number of scanned levels is restricted.
Therefore it is possible to analyse fine cut marks in a higher resolution, but in this case, cuts were up
to 1 mm deep and a smaller resolution is sufficient. Using this resolution, the ends of cuts, which are
very flat, were excluded because their size is approximately under 15 microns and therefore
inaccuracies in measurement increase, which might influence the

Oklahoma City Pay Phones
Oklahoma City, the home of the Dodgers, (no not those Dodgers), and typically a vibrant city of
people bustling to and fro, a veritable beehive of activity. It s a city that houses more than half a
million people and isn t typically a place that you would think is in danger of terrorist threats,
domestic or foreign, all this changed however, on April 19, 1995 (Henningfield).
It all started out as any typical Wednesday would, thousands of city workers woke up, went through
their morning routines, and left for work. A fraction of those workers drove downtown to the Alfred P.
Murrah Federal Building. Some dropped their kids at the daycare in the same building, others got
straight to work. To everyone working in the building, that singular Wednesday ... Show more content

The Children s Health Insurance Program
Executive Summary About 682,000 Texas children remain without insurance. That is the highest
number in the nation and more than double the next highest of 302,000 children in California. Of the
nation s 3.5 million children who still lack health insurance, nearly one in five live in Texas. The
Problem Our Children Deserve Better... A look at where we are and how we got here: 1997 The
Children s Health Insurance Program (CHIP, formerly the State Children s Health Insurance Program
(SCHIP)): was created by the Balanced Budget Act of 1997, enacted Title XXI of the Social Security
Act. It has allocated about $20 billion over 10 years to help states insure low income children who are
ineligible for Medicaid but cannot afford private insurance. A drop in uninsured was seen immediately.
2010 Affordable Care Act (ACA) State Expansion: Consisting of mandates, expansion, and subsidies
to increase health insurance affordability and quality. States are offered additional funding to expand
Medicaid benefits. 2013, Governor Rick Perry of Texas refuses to expand Medicaid and additional
funding of up to $100 billion over the first decade in reimbursement. 2012 National Federation of
Independent Business v. Sebelius: The basic idea of the ruling was that ACA was declared a tax and
not a mandate, and was therefore declared constitutional. The ruling also let states opt out of
expanding Medicaid. Almost half of the U.S. States opted out of expanding Medicaid in 2014 (as of
October 2013)

Gay Parenting And Adoption
Gay parenting and adoption LGBT couples have existed for a very long time, and they have been
raising children for years and years, but discrimination has led these people to hide from society
(which in its majority is heterosexual.) However, on recent years there has been a decrease in
discrimination and prejudice against lesbians and gay men, leading to more people Coming out and
accepting their sexual preferences; which has led more LGBT people to freely perform normal
activities as couples, e.g., encouraging themselves to adopt children, and do things that seem as
normal to heterosexual couples.
This raises a question, why is LGBT adoption such a controversial topic? To answer this question we
need to go deep into politics and religion, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By 2000, census data showed that number had risen to one in five for male couples and one in three
for female couples. Based on these estimates, at least 250,000 children nationwide are being raised by
same sex couples. Census analysts note that these numbers may be significantly underestimated,
because many gays and lesbians do not self report their sexual orientation to the government. (Further,
census data indicate that lesbian and gay households can be found in 99 percent of all U.S. counties.)
However, the census reveals close to nothing without detailed information of the [private] lives of the
individuals. Which would be considered unconstitutional, and is would never be done inside the US.
But what exactly happens when homosexual couples are allowed to be foster parents? We have yet to
know the answer to this question. Elsewhere , including New York, a same sex marriage law took
effect July 24, and since same sex adoption was legal before that, this does not change the conclusion
regarding how gay couples have an effect on their adopted children, if they have an effect at

Overcoming Homelessness
It is estimated that over a half million people in America are currently living without homes, sleeping
instead in crowded shelters, parks, bus stations, and other places not meant for human
accommodation. Many who are unfamiliar with this stigmatizing situation presume there is a simple
solution to this social crisis. Get a job! they say, attributing the homeless wretched situation to
laziness. However, overcoming homelessness is not that simple. Contrary to popular belief, the vast
majority of vagrants do work or try to find work, but due to factors in the economy beyond their
control, they find homelessness nearly insurmountable. [economic aspects?] For many in America,
homelessness is nigh inescapable due to economic impediments such as the availability/affordability
of housing, the discrepancy between the cost of living and low income, and the difficulty in securing a
stable income. One major obstacle in overcoming homelessness is obtaining a home itself. The decline
in the availability and affordability of housing makes living in a secure home a dream for many.
Although there are homeless shelters, public housing, and subsidized housing available, they are
rather limited in space, not to mention typically ranging from substandard to outright terrible
conditions. Many who have tried living in shelters avoid it because there are more problems living in
one than on the street; there are often many problems living in a shelter they report of, such as
overcrowding,

Theft is a unique short story in the Porter canon for several reasons. It is the first effort at
incorporating autobiographical elements into her work. Porter developed an intense relationship with
Matthew Josephson, her literary mentor and lover. His wife, after discovering the affair, told him to
choose between them. Josephson chose his wife and wrote Porter a letter detailing the decision and the
fervent hope they could continue working together and remain friends. Porter was ... Show more

The curtain of the story rises, and Porter s protagonist emerges from her bath to see that her gold cloth
purse is no longer on the bench where she spread it out to dry the night before. As she recalls the
previous evening, trying to discover when it may have gone missing, we learn that she has been
robbed several times either material[ly] or intangib[ly] (85), but not of the purse.
The subtle yet critical thefts of the night before take place, as so many petty thefts can, under the guise
of friendship. As they leave a cocktail party together, her friend, Camilo, insists on walking her
through the rain to the Elevated and in doing so ruins his hat; still, she thinks, he will associate her
with his misery (79), as if his offer to walk her through rain puts her at fault. Roger, another artist
friend, spots her on the steps to the Elevated and offers to take a taxi with her, but then borrows ten
cents, a quarter of all the money she possesses, to pay his fare. Once in her apartment building, she

China s Growth Rate Of Steady State Essay
Introduction Krugman (1994) summarizes two sources of growth that help to expand the national
economy. They are increasing input and increasing output per unit of input. Because of the
diminishing return to capital, increasing input can only increase the output level in the long run.
Therefore, increasing input, such as increasing employment opportunities, increasing the education
level of workers, and increasing the stocks of physical capitals, is not sustainable in the long run. On
the other hand, increasing the knowledge, which belongs to the increasing output per unit of input,
increases the output growth rate in the long run. Krugman concludes that only technological progress
can affect the growth rate of steady state in the long run. Different from focusing on how to increase
the growth rate in the long run, this study focuses on how to increase the output level in the short and
medium run. In the National People s Congress Press Conference in March of 2007, China s Premier
Wen Jiabao argues that the biggest problem with China s economy is that the growth is unstable,
unbalanced, uncoordinated, and unsustainable. Based on the fact that the current ratio of consumption
over output in China is much smaller than that of other countries, such as Japan and the United States,
a higher ratio will increase China s real GDP level in the short run. Since the short run real GDP is
larger than before, a higher ratio of consumption will increase China s economic growth rate

Debunking Skin Dermatology
When it comes to skincare and problems related to the skin, dermatologists often cringe at the
misplaced ideas people have. Some skincare tips are actually so deadly that dermatologists and other
skin specialists have to go a long way to make their patients understand the truth behind the myth. So
let s try to understand the role of dermatologists in debunking skin ailment myths. Avoid smiling,
avoid wrinkles If there s any iota of truth in that statement then all one had to do was to lead stoic,
expressionless lives. One could even save thousands of dollars by rejecting expensive face creams and
serums, botox treatment and other anti aging therapies. But actually, there is flaw in the theory itself.
While on the one hand some propose that smiling will cause wrinkles, others opine that doing facial
exercises will help in reducing sagging and crow s feet. So while some oppose the movement of facial
muscles others promote it! Dermatologists as such play an important role here in explaining to their
patients that while extensive motion of the facial muscles do cause early wrinkles it s actually not a
healthy practice to stop smiling. Smiling and laugher is a form of healthy living and hence
recommended. Facial exercises, are actually simply for neck tautness and won t actually help in
reducing or eliminating wrinkles. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Compare And Contrast Aspirin And Acetaminophene
Aspirin and paracetamol, both used to treat pain. However, which one is actually better? Based solely
on its chemical properties, aspirin is a better medication when compared to paracetamol.
Before the first ever pain killers were discovered, willow bark was used an analgesic due to its
antipyretic nature. This later lead to the discovery of Aspirin. Acetanilide was the first derivative of
paracetamol to be found. However, it could not be used due to its harmful toxic effects. During the
1880s, two antipyretic agents were developed. These were; acetanilide (1886) and phenacetin (1887).
In 1877, Harmon Northrop Morse synthesised the first known acetaminophen (paracetamol).

It is still unsure how exactly Panadol works within the body. However, information is still known
about acetaminophen within the body. Paracetamol is metabolized in a hepatic manner. Meaning in the
liver. It is converted to inactive compounds in union with sulphuric and glucuronic acid and absorbed
into the blood stream. Subsequently, it is excreted from the kidneys. Painkiller work by inhibiting the
cyclooxygenase enzymes, COX 1 and COX 2 which catalyse the formation of prostaglandins.
Paracetamol works by blocking the COX 3 enzyme which resides in the brain. However, paracetamols
inhibiting capability is considered to be weak as it cannot block the (COX) enzyme outside of the
central nervous system. This results in paracetamol not possessing anti inflammatory properties.
Panadols antipyretic capabilities are more efficient when compared to aspirin. Panadol has a
bioavailability of 70 90% when taken orally. Similar to paracetamol, aspirin works alike. However,
Panadol relieves pain by targeting the central nervous system (brain, spinal cord). Where aspirin
targets the nerves that lead to the central nervous system. Like paracetamol, aspirin blocks the
cyclooxygenase enzymes however aspirin only relieves pain where prostaglandins are being produced.
Therefore, unlike paracetamol, aspirin has anti inflammatory properties as well as reducing pain.
Aspirin inhibits COX 2 enzymes whereas paracetamol blocks COX 3 enzymes. Aspirin is

Pros And Cons Of Abolishing Kafala System
Recommendation
Unfair labor treatment in Qatar is a big issue of human rights. People are getting more and more
attention of how Qatar as a host country addresses these problems and how relevant parties find a
sustainable solution. As recommendations, these followings are what they should perform in order to
take responsibility of treated workers and prevent potential abuses.
What Qatar should do
Abolishing Kafala system
Kafala system or sponsorship system is a system that been used to monitor migrant workforces in
Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.
(Human Right Watch, 2008) This system requires in coming workers to have an in country sponsor. It
has been criticized by Human Right Organization as an open door to opportunities for employers
exploiting and abusing labors since employers control over the workers visas, meaning they could
refuse to allow labors to change jobs or stop them from leaving the country. It also totally leads to
intimidation and mistreatment of working conditions. The reason of discontinuing Kafala is because it
is a root cause of abusing by giving a too much power in sponsors hand. Stopping Kafala would bring
justice between both parties in terms of rights and obligations. ... Show more content on

Density And Sg By Hydrometer Method
Density and SG by Hydrometer Method
Objective
The purpose of this practical is to determine the specific gravity and density of samples of methylated
spirit of different concentrations, using a hydrometer.
Introduction
Theory
Specific gravity (SG) is defined as the ratio between the density of a liquid to the density of water at a
temperature of 4oC and pressure of 1 atm. It is of great importance when quoting the specific gravity
of a substance to refer to the temperature and pressure at which the measurement was taken, especially
because the density of water tends to vary significantly with temperature. For example, at 15oC the
density of water is 0.9991 g/cm3, while at 4oC the density is at its maximum of 1 g/cm3. Pressure, on
the other hand, is almost always 1 atm. It is most common to refer specific gravity to a temperature
and pressure of 4oC and 1 atm.
Hydrometer
The hydrometer is an instrument usually made of glass, which is used to measure the specific gravity
or density of a liquid. It is composed of a cylindrical stem over a bulb that is weighted with a small
amount either mercury or lead to ensure it floats upright.
The function of a hydrometer is a result of Archimedes principle which states that any body which is
partially or completely submerged in a fluid at rest, is acted on by an upward buoyant force which is
equal in magnitude to the weight of the fluid displaced by the body. Consequently, the hydrometer will
sink further, the lower the density of the

How Does Raskolnikov s View Of Religion
Religion has been perceived through various eyes and interpreted in many different ways. Some
people strike against it altogether and do not believe in any of its concepts. In his novel, Crime and
Punishment, Fyodor Dostoevsky reveals a few certain underlying connections between religion and a
person s actions through two main characters, Rodion Romanovitch Raskolnikov and Sofya (Sonia)
Semyonovna Marmeladov; Raskolnikov strayed away from religion, whereas Sonia was a firm
believer and advocate for God. Corresponding to Dostoevsky s novel are the works of Georg Wilhelm
Friedrich Hegel, who described his position on religion, showing and revealing his insight into the
matter of religion, its concepts, and its possible connections. Raskolnikov s nihilistic views ultimately
initiated the schism between himself and the ideals of the Church. Because Raskolnikov thought
himself to be above the ordinary populace, he committed an act of murder, with the confidence ...

Upon learning of Raskolnikov s crime, she said that, You turned away from God and God has smitten
you, has given you over to the devil (Dostoevsky 413). Sonia believed that Raskolnikov should seek

was ashamed of giving himself up to the authorities, but Sonia s persistence ultimately convinced him
to seek God. Through Sonia, God was trying to save Raskolnikov. Sonia s character is symbolic of
God being Justice, in so far as he eternally brings the individual back to the universal (Hegel).
Raskolnikov s redemption and reconciliation with God and the Church commences when he accepts
the cross that Sonia presents to him. The cross is symbolic of suffering, and through its acceptance,
Raskolnikov takes up his own figurative cross and begins his path to being resurrected from his

Devaluation of the Feminine
Devaluation of the Feminine
The devaluation of women is built into the culture all through industry and popular culture. When a
baby is born he/she is like a blank slate to be written on by his/her surroundings, including family and
society. For example, I am a Christian, however I was not born a Christian, going to Church and being
taught about the Bible by my parents and teachers brought me to identify myself as a Christian. There
are certain gender roles that are set up in societies that limit males and females to certain behaviors
they are supposed to portray. The media in many cultures, particularly American culture, continues
make the devaluation of females more socially acceptable .
The stereotypes for the feminine role ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Women are put on display as sexual spectacles. An example of a woman who was put on display for
public entertainment is Saarjite Baartman, commonly known as Hottentot Venus. She was a South
African woman whose body was exhibited at circuses, museums, and zoos. The spectacle of Baartman
s body continued even after her death at the age of 26. Pseudo scientists interested in investigating in
primitive sexuality , dissected and cast her genitals (and buttocks) in wax. They concluded that her
oversized genitals were physical proof of African Women s primitive sexual appetite (Thompson).
This is an example of the way a woman s body was used to make a profit, similar to the way the
women in the videos are exploited for ratings. As a black woman, I have begun to pick up the common
theme that Kilbourne pointed out; black females are often depicted as animalistic, purely sexual, and
non human.
In movies, many women are given roles that require them to be nude for sex scenes. If they are not
interested, either they are rejected for the role, even if they are very good actresses, or they are offered
more money until they agree to do the scene(s). Only the most beautiful actresses with the most
perfect bodies are asked to do nude scenes. If the actress that gets the role does not have a fit body,
they are given a body double that does have an ideal body. Therefore, actresses that are trying to

  • 2. Unit 3 M2 Health And Social Care Essay Amendment P3) Carry out a risk assessment in a health or social care setting. M2) Assess the hazards identified in the health or social care setting. D1) Make recommendations in relation to the identified hazards to minimise the risks to the service user. For the purpose of this essay I went to the local mall to observe what hazards there are. I am going to assess the hazards that I identified in this setting and I am going to make some recommendations in relation to the identified hazards to minimise the risk to the service users. According to Excalibur Solicitors There are some common shopping centre accidents that can include the slip accident in the shopping centre at the place where the floor was left wet after being mopped ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the young children cannot read, at least the carer is warned. This will allow them to take special care with their hot food and drinks when they have children with them. Keeping hot drinks and food out of the reach of young children will also minimise the risk of them getting burnt, as said by North Bristol NHS trust. They also recommend that hot drinks should not be held at the same time as holding another child. Another adjustment they could make could be to put hot drinks into a special cup with a lid, that when tipped over does not spill and hot food could be left to cool for a few minutes before being served, meaning that it is not piping hot. As long as the parents and guardians are aware of the dangers associated with hot food and drinks, then this hazard shouldn t hold a very high likelihood. My reasoning for suggesting this is that it will reduce the likelihood of a child or an individual getting burnt if the drink falls as the lid will stop the drink from spilling. The existing controls that are in place in the food court in the mall are signs warning of hot surfaces and although most adults should know that food will be served hot, I still believe signs for hot food should be shown. I would recommend this because it will remind the adults that the food may burn and this will in turn make them think more before giving the child the hot food. To get to the higher floors in the mall there are stairs, lifts or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Birth Of Pregnancy After C Sections A majority of mothers prepare for their pregnancies with full intention of a vaginal birth at the end of their third trimester. However, there is a possibility that medical conditions could arise, such as a baby who is positioned incorrectly, preeclampsia, or toxemia. Therefore, a cesarean delivery is the safest way. Most believe that subsequent pregnancies require subsequent C sections. Today, many mothers are opting for VBACs aka vaginal birth after C sections. A C Section, or Cesarean Section, is a major surgery to deliver a baby who may suffer from complications or could be breech. They may also be done in response to the mother and the complications that she may have. It is done by cutting through the wall of the mother s abdomen. It can be life threatening to the mother and the baby. It can raise the risk to the mother and could even complicate future pregnancies. American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologist suggest offering the opportunity to pursue a VBAC. An evidence review in 2003 found that overall VBAC success rates were greater than fifty percent (Ebelle 1192 4). This study shows that the success rate of VBACs are improving each year. C Sections are the most common surgery in the U.S. and account for about one third of all U.S. births today. Since the 1990s, the C Section rate has risen sixty percent (Shute: Doctors Urge.... ). The risk of a C Section to a mother include but are not limited to: weakened uterus, bladder injuries, and/or blood ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Example Of Conduit Metaphor 2. Highlighting and Hiding When explaining even more thoroughly the systematicity feature, Lakoff and Johnson referred to Michael Reddy s (1979) conduit metaphor : it is when a part of our experience is hidden by a metaphorical concept; He believes that our language about language is organized or even designed as the following metaphor: Ideas (or meanings) are perceived as objects , Linguistic expressions are perceived as containers and communication is perceived as sending . This means that when someone wants to say an expression (the object), he puts concepts into words (which are the container) and sends them along a conduit to the person who is hearing him and who takes the concept out of the words which means out of the containers. Examples of the conduit metaphor are: I gave you that idea , it is difficult to put my ideas into words and Her words carry little meaning . George Lakoff talked about Reddy and he said that his theory and Reddy s are similar because they both imply that metaphors are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Types of Conceptual Metaphors according to Lakoff Johnson Lakoff Johnson define conceptual metaphors as understanding and experiencing one kind of thing in terms of another and argue that the way human beings think and talk is largely metaphorical. Lakoff and Johnson prove that humans often speak in metaphors when they talk about any concept without noticing it. Conceptual metaphors play a very important role in our lives and combines both linguistic and cognitive domains. They identified three categories of conceptual metaphors: 1. Orientational metaphors: Oriental metaphors are metaphors in which concepts are given spatial orientation: up down, front back, on off, central peripheral. For example, HAPPY IS UP and SAD IS DOWN ; the fact that the concept happy is oriented up and the concept sad is oriented down leads to English expressions like I m feeling up today , That boosted my spirits and I m feeling down , I fell into a ... • 5. The Collapse of the Domino --- Chinese Real Estate With the outbreak of the U.S. financial crisis in 2008, the whole world s financial situation is not good, but except one, which is China. However, many people find out that China is walking on the old U.S. economic way, which means China will have economic crisis either. So right now, all the eyes from all the countries are watching at China s economy, because if Chinese economic collapse, there are no more people buy Japanese animations and European luxuries. And after the economic crisis, China will recovery U.S. Treasury bonds, but American unable to pay, then the whole world economy is facing collapse; we can call that butterfly effect. So right now, in this context, the same conditions, and the same nature of the Chinese economy grows up, any black swan events are likely to be the fuse of Chinese financial crisis, and even the world economic crisis fuse. For example, the author of Chinese Citizens Have Their Eyes on Bubble, C. Cindy Fan mentions that the fuse of Chinese economic crisis is real estate. Right now, Chinese people put all their savings into real estate, which led to the housing bubble, but because of consumer demand, the government is unable to stop it. (Fan) I agree with Fan s idea, which is Chinese economy will collapse because of Chinese real estate bubble. Consequently, whether China will have the financial crisis, the focus should be on the how big is the China s real estate bubble, and when will it burst. As for how big is the China s real ... • 6. The And Consequences Of The 2008 Economic Crisis There were many causes and consequences of the 2008 economic meltdown from different groups. Parties such as banks, individuals, and the government were all responsible for causing the economic meltdown. One factor was an overdependence on credit (Andrews 2009:1). In addition, struggling businesses relying on the banks also contributed to the 2008 economic meltdown (Gross 2009:18). Also, lax government policies like the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) contributed to the 2008 economic crisis (Gross 2009:30 31). These were the factors that led to the 2008 economic meltdown. American individuals were among the many factors that led to the economic meltdown in the U.S. in 2008. This proves to be the case as Americans were likely to depend on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a result, consumers were able to buy items that they were unable to afford. Cars were another popular good that consumers purchased. Daniel Gross writes: Americans bought 16.8 million cars in 2002, and would buy nearly 17 million cars per year for each of the following three years. Car industry sales, which accounted for between 15 percent and 20 percent of US retail sales, had always depended upon the availability of credit (Gross 2009:42). This points to the fact that consumers took advantage of credit in order to buy cars as it enabled the consumers to take out money in order to pay for a car if they did not have enough of their own money. However, easy access to loans led to dire consequences for individuals. Based on the article by Edmund Andrews, he had a lot of debt and faced the consequences of higher interest rates all while he left his bills unpaid (Andrews 2009:3). The last thing Chase wants is to foreclose on your home, JPMorgan Chase wrote us. It assured us that it wanted to help and was willing to evaluate us for a number of alternatives. If we didn t resolve our payment delinquency, it politely warned, you will lose your home (Andrews 2009:3). Based on the article, what was worse than rising debt for individuals who bought homes and did not have sufficient money was the threat of foreclosure when the banks took away the homes of individuals. • 7. The Beach Literary Analysis Paper The Beach by Alex Garland Analysis Paper There are some travelers who see a paradise as their final destination; however, it may end up to be exactly opposite of what a paradise should be. This can be seen in Alex Garland s The Beach. The novel is about several backpackers, Richard, Francoise, and Etienne, who come together and travel to an island community, their paradise, within Thailand. Ultimately, the story portrays the idea of a utopia like society taking a turn for the worst and becoming a dystopia, something that the backpackers would not have expected. Throughout the story, the theme of a utopia turning into a dystopia could be seen through symbolism such as the cancer of traveling and the destruction that it brings. I ... Mainly because it is in a secure area, it can be inferred that something bad will eventually happen on the islands, thus creating a clear image of how the cancer spreads. The spread of this cancer initially starts when Daffy shares the secret beach with Richard and his friends, who later shares it with other travelers. By the time they arrive on the island, Richard, Etienne, and Francois discover that the beach is right next to another island with fields that cultivate marijuana which can also foreshadows negative events to happen. For a while life on the island started out perfect, like a true utopian society as Richard states You fish, swim, eat, laze around, and everyone s so friendly. It s such simple stuff, but... If I could stop the world and restart life, put the clock back, I think I d restart it like this. For everyone. (Beach 106.) However, right when life on the beach paradise started to seem perfect, a chain of unfortunate events began to occur. A shark attack took place causing the severe injury in one member and the death of another and after becoming an outcast from the rest of the community, the man who was injured was later killed. Afterwards, a majority of the travelers in the community ate raw food which led to more than half of them to undergo a serious illness. With the whole ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

John Brown And The Abolition Movement also the value of non violent resistance supported by the transcendentalists and, There were many prominent figures in the Abolition movement that made great strides to freedom. Most took the route of political campaigning, but a few decided to take a more direct approach. One said individual is John Brown. John Brown was a white abolitionist born in Connecticut who simply grew tired of the pacifist approach and took up arms with a few volunteers against slavery. Brown was born the son of Owen Brown, a tanner, in the town of Torrington, Connecticut. The Browns were conventional evangelicals, and John went to school in Massachusetts to become a Congregationalist minister. Unfortunately he ran out of money and returned to his family and opened his own tannery with his brother. He soon started a family and his tannery was growing to a very successful business. A few years came to pass, and tragedy struck his family. One of his sons died, Brown became very sick, he incurred a tremendous amount of debt, and his wife passed shortly after the death of a newborn son. A year later he would marry 16 year old Mary Ann, and have 13 children, creating a total of 20 children of which only 11 would survive into adulthood. After moving his family to the town of Franklin Mills, Ohio, he opened a new tannery but soon fell victim to the Panic of 1837, leaving him in more debt. As the Sanders chowed down on flavorful pot roast, Todd shared very exciting news for the family. • 11. Young Goodman Brown Nathaniel Hawthorne s classic tale Young Goodman Brown is a good example of a short story embodying both characteristics of realism and characteristics of romanticism. M. H. Abrams defines romantic themes in prominent writers of this school in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries as being five in number: (1) innovations in the materials, forms and style; (2) that the work involve a spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings ; (3) that external nature be a persistent subject with a sensuous nuance and accuracy in its description; (4) that the reader be invited to identify the protagonist with the author himself; and (5) that this be an age of new beginnings and high possibilities for the person (177 79). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Well; she s a blessed angel on earth; and after this one night, I ll cling to her skirts and follow her to Heaven. With this excellent resolve for the future, Goodman Brown felt himself justified in making more haste on his present evil purpose. After Deacon Gookin and the minister had passed by, the reader feels the very feelings of Brown: Whither, then, could these holy men be journeying, so deep into the heathen wilderness? Young Goodman Brown caught hold of a tree, for support, being ready to sink down on the ground, faint and overburthened with the heavy sickness of his heart. He looked up to the sky, doubting whether there really was a Heaven above him. Secondly, a spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings is Abrams next criterion for romantic writing. And for a certainty there is considerably much of this in Young Goodman Brown, especially as the climax approaches. Faith! shouted Goodman Brown, in a voice of agony and desperation; and the echoes of the forest mocked him, crying Faith! Faith! as if bewildered wretches were seeking her, all through the wilderness. The cry of grief, rage, and terror, was yet piercing the night, when the unhappy husband held his breath for a response. . . . My Faith is gone! cried he, after one stupefied moment. There is no good on earth; and sin is but a name. Come, devil! for to thee is this world given.

Both of their works present a world which cannot be logically explained, where the scenery, the language and the actions of the characters are almost incomprehensible and do not comply with the previously accepted norms of theatre. J.L Styan writes about Pinter. His audience is made to feel, through an exquisite friction of nightmare and normality, the earthly need for security (The Dark Comedy) I think this quote applies to Beckett too, however. Both of the plays I will look at are very sinister, subversive plays, riddled with dark humour. What is important to remember is that the plays are not just absurd for the sake of being ... Pinter refuses to provide rational explanations for his characters (www.imagi nation.com) It is this deliberate withholding of information that adds to the sense of mystery and absurdity, doom and uncertainty. This is how Pinter builds up the sense of tension because, often, the reader assumes something worse than what is the actual reality in the play. • 14. Success And Sustainability Of A Business Many entrepreneurs aspire to own or operate their own business. After deciding on the purpose and mission of the company, one must chose a form of organization for the business to operate under. These organizational forms include sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation or a limited liability company. Not only does this decision determine how many individuals are involved in the ownership of the business, but it also determines what laws, regulations and guidelines must be followed to ensure success and sustainability of a business. Across the United States, the majority of small businesses are owned and operated by one person, which is called sole proprietorship (Liuzzo, 2016). As the most widespread, least expensive business to establish, many small business entrepreneurs tend to take this path to avoid the need to hiring employees, pay for expensive locations, evade corporate taxes and to maintain complete control of all business transactions. Evident by the 2013 tax returns, the benefits of sole proprietorship sound appealing with approximately 24.1 million individual income tax returns reported sole proprietorship activity, a 2.2 percent increase from 2012 (Dungan, 2016). This function makes it easy to analyse deep cuts, which can be only partially focused in light microscopy or electron microscopy. • 28. China s Growth Rate Of Steady State Essay Introduction Krugman (1994) summarizes two sources of growth that help to expand the national economy. They are increasing input and increasing output per unit of input. Because of the diminishing return to capital, increasing input can only increase the output level in the long run. Therefore, increasing input, such as increasing employment opportunities, increasing the education level of workers, and increasing the stocks of physical capitals, is not sustainable in the long run. On the other hand, increasing the knowledge, which belongs to the increasing output per unit of input, increases the output growth rate in the long run. Krugman concludes that only technological progress can affect the growth rate of steady state in the long run. Different from focusing on how to increase the growth rate in the long run, this study focuses on how to increase the output level in the short and medium run. In the National People s Congress Press Conference in March of 2007, China s Premier Wen Jiabao argues that the biggest problem with China s economy is that the growth is unstable, unbalanced, uncoordinated, and unsustainable. Based on the fact that the current ratio of consumption over output in China is much smaller than that of other countries, such as Japan and the United States, a higher ratio will increase China s real GDP level in the short run. Since the short run real GDP is larger than before, a higher ratio of consumption will increase China s economic growth rate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For all, due to their skin tone and melanin content, damage in its initial stages is often not visible and noticed only in advanced ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Compare And Contrast Aspirin And Acetaminophene Aspirin and paracetamol, both used to treat pain. However, which one is actually better? Based solely on its chemical properties, aspirin is a better medication when compared to paracetamol. Before the first ever pain killers were discovered, willow bark was used an analgesic due to its antipyretic nature. This later lead to the discovery of Aspirin. Acetanilide was the first derivative of paracetamol to be found. However, it could not be used due to its harmful toxic effects. During the 1880s, two antipyretic agents were developed. These were; acetanilide (1886) and phenacetin (1887). In 1877, Harmon Northrop Morse synthesised the first known acetaminophen (paracetamol). However, it was no tested on humans until 1887 by Joseph von Mering. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is still unsure how exactly Panadol works within the body. However, information is still known about acetaminophen within the body. Paracetamol is metabolized in a hepatic manner. Meaning in the liver. It is converted to inactive compounds in union with sulphuric and glucuronic acid and absorbed into the blood stream. Subsequently, it is excreted from the kidneys. Painkiller work by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase enzymes, COX 1 and COX 2 which catalyse the formation of prostaglandins. Paracetamol works by blocking the COX 3 enzyme which resides in the brain. However, paracetamols inhibiting capability is considered to be weak as it cannot block the (COX) enzyme outside of the central nervous system. This results in paracetamol not possessing anti inflammatory properties. Panadols antipyretic capabilities are more efficient when compared to aspirin. Panadol has a bioavailability of 70 90% when taken orally. Similar to paracetamol, aspirin works alike. However, Panadol relieves pain by targeting the central nervous system (brain, spinal cord). Where aspirin targets the nerves that lead to the central nervous system. Like paracetamol, aspirin blocks the cyclooxygenase enzymes however aspirin only relieves pain where prostaglandins are being produced. Therefore, unlike paracetamol, aspirin has anti inflammatory properties as well as reducing pain. Aspirin inhibits COX 2 enzymes whereas paracetamol blocks COX 3 enzymes. Aspirin is ... • 33. Density And Sg By Hydrometer Method Density and SG by Hydrometer Method Objective The purpose of this practical is to determine the specific gravity and density of samples of methylated spirit of different concentrations, using a hydrometer. Introduction Theory Specific gravity (SG) is defined as the ratio between the density of a liquid to the density of water at a temperature of 4oC and pressure of 1 atm. It is of great importance when quoting the specific gravity of a substance to refer to the temperature and pressure at which the measurement was taken, especially because the density of water tends to vary significantly with temperature. For example, at 15oC the density of water is 0.9991 g/cm3, while at 4oC the density is at its maximum of 1 g/cm3. Pressure, on the other hand, is almost always 1 atm. It is most common to refer specific gravity to a temperature and pressure of 4oC and 1 atm. Hydrometer The hydrometer is an instrument usually made of glass, which is used to measure the specific gravity or density of a liquid. It is composed of a cylindrical stem over a bulb that is weighted with a small amount either mercury or lead to ensure it floats upright. The function of a hydrometer is a result of Archimedes principle which states that any body which is partially or completely submerged in a fluid at rest, is acted on by an upward buoyant force which is equal in magnitude to the weight of the fluid displaced by the body. Consequently, the hydrometer will sink further, the lower the density of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. How Does Raskolnikov s View Of Religion Religion has been perceived through various eyes and interpreted in many different ways. Some people strike against it altogether and do not believe in any of its concepts. In his novel, Crime and Punishment, Fyodor Dostoevsky reveals a few certain underlying connections between religion and a person s actions through two main characters, Rodion Romanovitch Raskolnikov and Sofya (Sonia) Semyonovna Marmeladov; Raskolnikov strayed away from religion, whereas Sonia was a firm believer and advocate for God. Corresponding to Dostoevsky s novel are the works of Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, who described his position on religion, showing and revealing his insight into the matter of religion, its concepts, and its possible connections. Raskolnikov s nihilistic views ultimately initiated the schism between himself and the ideals of the Church. Raskolnikov had actively sought to turn away from God and was ashamed of giving himself up to the authorities, but Sonia s persistence ultimately convinced him to seek God. Through Sonia, God was trying to save Raskolnikov. Sonia s character is symbolic of God being Justice, in so far as he eternally brings the individual back to the universal (Hegel). • 36. Devaluation of the Feminine Devaluation of the Feminine The devaluation of women is built into the culture all through industry and popular culture. When a baby is born he/she is like a blank slate to be written on by his/her surroundings, including family and society. For example, I am a Christian, however I was not born a Christian, going to Church and being taught about the Bible by my parents and teachers brought me to identify myself as a Christian. There are certain gender roles that are set up in societies that limit males and females to certain behaviors they are supposed to portray. The media in many cultures, particularly American culture, continues make the devaluation of females more socially acceptable . The stereotypes for the feminine role ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Women are put on display as sexual spectacles. An example of a woman who was put on display for public entertainment is Saarjite Baartman, commonly known as Hottentot Venus. She was a South African woman whose body was exhibited at circuses, museums, and zoos. The spectacle of Baartman s body continued even after her death at the age of 26. Pseudo scientists interested in investigating in primitive sexuality , dissected and cast her genitals (and buttocks) in wax. They concluded that her oversized genitals were physical proof of African Women s primitive sexual appetite (Thompson). This is an example of the way a woman s body was used to make a profit, similar to the way the women in the videos are exploited for ratings. As a black woman, I have begun to pick up the common theme that Kilbourne pointed out; black females are often depicted as animalistic, purely sexual, and non human. In movies, many women are given roles that require them to be nude for sex scenes. If they are not interested, either they are rejected for the role, even if they are very good actresses, or they are offered more money until they agree to do the scene(s). Only the most beautiful actresses with the most perfect bodies are asked to do nude scenes. If the actress that gets the role does not have a fit body, they are given a body double that does have an ideal body. Therefore, actresses that are trying to become ...
