Florence Nightingale Influence
In nursing school, I remembered learning about Florence Nightingale and her impact in nursing.
Still to this day, her teachings and work to advance nursing is discussed. The nursing profession
has grown and evolved a great deal since the times of Nightingale. However, visionaries such as
her and their theories have been the ones making that happen. The first three American training
schools for nurses, modeled after Nightingale s famous school at St. Thomas Hospital in
London, opened in 1873 (Black, 2014, p. 26). As nursing grew and more work was done to
advance nursing as a profession, the developing of professional associations such as ANA and
NLNE helped further that goal. As author Black (2014) continues, The precursor to the National
League for Nursing, the American Society of Superintendents of Training Schools for Nurses, was
formed to address issues in nursing education. The society changed its name in 1912 to the
National League of Nursing Education (NLNE) and in 1952 became the National League for
Nursing (NLN). This event held during the Chicago World s Fair became a pivotal point in nursing
history. Three years later, in 1896, Isabel Hampton Robb founded the group that eventually became
the American Nurses Association... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Patient centered care and Henderson s theory go hand in hand. They use a holistic approach to
ensure better outcomes. As different organizations, such as the Joint Commission, move toward a
more patient centered approach we can see how Henderson s theory has definitely shape nursing
practice today. Engaging patients in their care has real implications for the quality and safety of
patient care (Joint Commission, 2008, p.

Earthquake In California
California is suspected of experiencing a killer quake, one that reaches the magnitude of 7.5.
However, it is impossible to predict an earthquake. The Puente Hills Fault is one of the most
dangerous sleeping monsters (if it were to) create an earthquake. It is located in the Los Angeles
basin, where it can cause approximately 45 seconds of rippling instead of just 7 seconds because it
is on softer ground, cause thousands of deaths, and potentially destroy the city of Los Angeles. The
first big one that hit Californiawas in San Francisco by the San Andreas Fault. This earthquakegave
recognition to the dangers of the tectonic plates right beneath us. In Northridge, a 6.4 earthquake
occurred that caused the I 5 and route 14 highway to

Supermarket discounts: do they offer genuine benefits or are they buying traps 1.1. Introduction
Generally speaking, people believe a discount in the supermarket is something that will help to
save their money and which is a profits sharing activity of supermarket company. However, less

1.3.4. Are customers influenced by sales promotion activity, and if so ,will they change their initial
options?
1.3.5. What do customers feel when they choose items for discount but not their original choices,
satisfied or not satisfied?
In addition, the research will seek to identify that consumers made purchase decision due to the
psychological change or based on their sane thinking and to provide rational suggestions to
consumers when they are choosing items for sales, and to provide a means to identify the real
value of many kinds of discount. 2. Literature 2.1 Review of the relevant literature
There is a large amount of literature about the pricing strategy or consumers behaviour for different
sales promotion but there is surprisingly little research about the contributing factors that prompt
customers buying behaviour. However by analysing consumers reaction to sales promotions, we
can determine whether customers make their purchasing decisions based on internal or external
factors. The internal factors would be customers initial needs, while external factors would include
the influence of promotion advertising.
The retail industry increasingly used sales promotions (Felgate et al. 2012). Previous research
(e.g.Webster 1971; Kotler 1988; Blattberg amp; Neslin 1990) sees sales promotion as a method that
directly or indirectly influences customers purchasing

The Controversy Of Induced Abortion
Abortion is the act of disposing of an embryo, fetus, unborn baby (Abortion). There are two primary
types of abortion; spontaneous and induced. Spontaneous abortion is an accidental death of an
unborn baby. This can happen for multiple reasons like infections, drugs, diseases, and so forth.
This type of abortionis mainly known as a miscarriage. But the main type of abortion we will be
focused on during this paper is induced. Induced abortion is a completely deliberate murder of an
innocent child. This dispelling of a fetusis done in several different ways and different times. We
will be going through all of the different subcategories of induced abortion such as RU486, suction,

To perform this operation they use a syringe to suck out most of the amniotic fluid. The using a
needle they insert the saline solution to burn the child alive. The baby can feel this pain and it
burns every system in the childs body. After the baby is killed the mother then will deliver a
charred child and then the doctor will discard the body. This method of abortion obviously cause
pain to the baby but it may also cause pain to the mother if they inject the wrong area of the mother
with the saline solution they may permanently harm the patient. This method is banned in many
countries for an obvious reason.

Human subjects and ATII cell isolation
Human lungs were donated for medical research by the Gift of Life Donor Program from
deidentified control non smoker and smoker organ donors. We selected donors with lung function
with a PaO2/FIO2 ratio of 250, a clinical history and x ray that did not indicate infection, and
limited time on a ventilator. Non smokers were individuals who never smoked and smokers
smoked 5 20 cigarettes per day for at least 3 years. Lung tissue from patients with emphysema

Chest CT scans ADD cores to supplementary
Patients underwent volumetric CT scans of the chest at full inspiration (standard dose =
200mAs) and at end tidal expiration (low dose = 50 mAs). Detailed CT protocols have been
previously published [17]. Performed CT scans were subjected to a standard quality control
procedure. We used 3D SLICER software for computerized image analysis [18]. Emphysema

Separation Of A Mixture Lab
Separation of a Mixture
Purpose/Introduction
The purpose of this separation of a mixture lab is to give students the challenge of figuring out
how to separate a provided mixture, and following through with their procedure. The mixture is
composed of salt, sand, poppy seeds, and iron filings, and all of these components should be
separated and dried as well as possible by the end of the lab.
A pure substance is an element or compound with a constant composition, such as salt. Its
components stay in a fixed ratio to each other, and they can only be separated by relatively difficult
chemical means. A mixtureis a physical combination of pure substances. Their compositions vary
and it is easy to physically separate them. Mixtures can be either homogeneous or heterogeneous.
A homogeneous mixture is a mixture whose composition is uniform throughout. A heterogeneous is
the opposite its composition is not uniform throughout.

certain particles out of the air. Decanting separates mixtures by removing one layer of a liquid in
which a precipitate has formed so the remaining part of the solution is pure. If a

How To Write An Essay On Roman Holiday
Roman Holiday Featuring Audrey Hepburn, the film Roman Holiday, shows the intrinstic and
innovative emotions that Hepburn portrays. She was fully committed in playing Anne, the
sheltered princess who was getting tried of her daily routine. Anne wants to be adventurous and
experience something different other than her extremely boring scheduled life of a royal highness.
The performance that Hepburn projected was successfully believable to the audience because she
had the poise and attitude that a princess would normally have. I personally enjoyed and believed
the acting skills that Audrey Hepburn had throughout the film, she executed her performance very
fittingly and meticousily. Throughout the entire film, the way that Audrey Hepburn

Why Spanking Children Is Wrong
Why Spanking Children is Wrong Parents have been spanking their children for hundreds of years,
but recently this practice has come into question. The concern is not regarding the effectiveness of
spanking but the correctness of spanking. Parents should not be allowed to strike their children.
Child abuse is defined as any unnecessary or intentional physical or emotional or sexual
mistreatment of children. Spankingis not the only method of child discipline. Spanking is not even
the most effective method of child discipline. Numerous studies have made it evident that spanking
does have a negative effect on children. Spanking children should be considered child abusebecause
it teaches children the wrong message about hitting, it does not... Show more content on

When spanked feel bitterness, anger, and even hate towards the parent.
In addition to these three principal reasons which show the inappropriateness of spanking, there
are also other concerns. One main worry about spanking is that it is a lower level form of child
abuse. It is against the law for a person to hit another person. Children are also people and should
not be discriminated against simply because they are smaller.
The main reason that parents use spanking as a discipline technique is because it is what they
received when they were children. However, in many cases spanking has nothing to do with
helping the child. It is used as a quick solution to stop negative behavior with no real regard for
the long term outcome. Parents often spank their children because they themselves are angry.
These parents simply cannot handle a situation and take it out on their child. Spanking might be
more accepted if it was the only, or the most successful, form of discipline, but it is not. Spanking
is simply a short term fix of a child s discipline problems. Two of the widely used alternatives to
spanking are the time out and restriction punishments. Time out is most effective when
administered to children under ten years of age, and a restriction mostly benefits children over ten
years old. Both of these methods, while effective, also have a positive influence on the child, they
teach the child discipline without the use of force, help the child

Lenin And Old Major s Speech

have strong beliefs where everyone should be equal in all ways. Their main goals was to

beliefs of Communismand Animalism.
In both Lenin and Old Major s Speech, they believe that there is one cause why workers suffer,
the main consumer, landowners/man. In the first paragraph of Lenin s speech, he states that, The

Cardiovascular System Vs Extravascular Compartment
In humans the cardiovascular system (blood circulatory system, intravascular compartment)
provides the function of the extravascular compartment (organs and tissues). Physical conditions
(fluid dynamics) in these two compartments are different: the intravascular compartment
(cardiovascular system) is dynamic with liquid (blood) circulation, whereas the extravascular
compartment is static, the cells are fixed and liquid flow is minimal or absent. Blood mean
velocity in different parts of the cardiovascular system (aorta, capillaries, veins) is from 0.03 sm
/ sec to 40 cm/sec [44 46]. A bacterium of a 1Вµm size for one second travels with blood a
distance that exceeds its body size from 300 to 400,000 times. For phagocytic leukocytes, the
measuring time point for bacterial engulfment is from one to 15 minutes [47 50]. Phagocytosis
requires a long time span and is possible in the extravascular compartment only (tissues, connective

The total number of leukocytes (20 30 million in peripheral blood) is not enough for bacteria
clearing. Leukocytes are less than 0.1% of the blood cells, besides, only 68% of peripheral
blood leukocytes are professional phagocytic cells [59]. As a result, bactericidal leukocytes are
0.068% of all blood cells and they have 1200 1500 times fewer chances to contact bacteria than
other cells, particularly, erythrocytes [51, 52]. Neutrophils die after engulfing a few pathogens,
their life span is form 13 hours to 5.4 days [60 62], whereas erythrocytes, circulating for 100 120
days, live 18 22 times longer than neutrophils [44, 45]. Bacteria are able to kill phagocytes [63 66]
and for many pathogens, phagocytosis is indispensable for proliferation and dissemination [67 70].
These data demonstrate that phagocytosis have no bactericidal role in the blood and leukocytes do
not provide bloodstream clearance from

Eighteenth Century English Literature
Chapter III: Eighteenth Century English Literature
LITERATURE OF THE ENLIGHTENMENT
(18th century)
The 17th century was one of the most stormy periods of English history. The growing
contradictions between the new class, the bourgeoisie, and the old forces of feudalism brought
about the English Bourgeois Revolution in the 1640s. As a result of the revolution the king was
dethroned and beheaded and England was proclaimed a republic. Though very soon monarchy was
restored, the position of the bourgeoisie had changed.
The 18th century saw Great Britain rapidly growing into a capitalist country. It was an age of
intensive industrial development. New mills and manufactures appeared one after another. Small

Such composition of the novel gave the author a chance to create an all embracing picture of the
18th century England, to write a comic epopee as Fielding himself called the novel.
Fielding also worked out the theory of the novel. In the introductory chapters to the eighteen parts
of The History of Tom Jones he put forward the main requirements that the novel should meet: to
imitate life, to show the variety of human nature, to expose the roots and causes of man s
shortcomings and to indicate the ways of overcoming them.
3. Late Enlightenment (Sentimentalism) (1750 1780).
The writers of this period, like the Enlighteners of the first two periods, expressed the democratic
bourgeois tendencies of their time. They also tried to find a way out of the difficulties of the
existing order. However, while their predecessors believed in the force of intellect, they considered
feelings (or sentiments) most important. The principal representatives of sentimentalism in the
genre of the novel were Oliver Goldsmith (The Vicar of Wakefield) and Lawrence Sterne (Tristram
Shandy, The Sentimental Journey) and in drama Richard Sheridan (School for Scandal and other
plays).

Paul Olsen Case Essay
The Paul Olsen case describes the situation for a decision that Paul Olsen needs to make. Paul
and Robert Rose devised a plan to open a piano bar in a new urban mall development in Pittsburg,
PA. If successful, Paul and Robert would add a restaurant and cafГ© at the same location to grow
their business. With three and a half months before opening, Paul did not have enough investors to
fund the startup costs, so he needs to decide whether to invest all of his student loan money

Although the restaurant industry is perceived to have high risk of failure, the risk of a
restaurant failing is not too different from other small businesses. Parsa et al. quantified the risk
of failure at 26% in the first year and 57% by year 3. He also described several factors that can
influence the risk of failure. Those include physical location, firm size, speed of growth,
differentiation from other restaurants in the market, adapting to external trends, and management
experience. In terms of location and differentiation, Paul s bar will be located in a new
development designed to attract affluent customers and with very few competitors. Paul s small
firm size increases risk because of barriers to attract partners (i.e. suppliers and bankers are
prejudiced against smaller firms) and growth that may be too rapid to manage. On the other hand,
Robert already has experience in the restaurant business and should know how to run the bar and
subsequent restaurant. Their choice of a piano bar may be in response to local trends that favor
success.
A final question is whether Paul should apply his student loan money to the startup costs. Since his
living expenses and tuition are already paid by the Ford Foundation grant, the loan money is not
immediately needed. The contract in exhibit 3 shows that his services towards opening the bar are
valued at $17,500 in addition to the cash contribution. Therefore, his percentage claim towards any

where they can find their weakness point. Every human being has a strength point and a weakness

For example, if I am winning a game of basketball by 18 points and I realize that I am much ahead
of my opponent in terms of score, so I take my level down a bit. This is the worst thing you can
do and it relates to underestimating your opponent, if you take your level down then that is
implying that your opponent cannot catch up with your score. Many people have done this in
countless games and lost in the end of game because the other opponent scored many baskets
against you when you let your guard down. I remember in 2013 I was playing a rugby game in
my school against another international team from another city from China. We started the
game with full seriousness and played the first 45 minutes with only the starters and after 45
minutes we were winning by 10 point. The coach and the team thought that if we were winning
by that much then we don?t need to let the starters play the second half. However as soon as we
subbed in our bench players and assumed it was going to be an easy win we lost 4 points to the
other team from stupid mistakes the we don?t even do in practice, and eventually we lost. Thirdly
I would like to warn any competitive player to always be alert whilst playing against anyone at all

however it has to do with when sometimes you get bored in the game and you don?t focus so you

Theories Of Humanitarian Intervention
Section one deals with the debates that surround the issues of humanitarian intervention and just
war theory on the basis of international scale. One article by Holzgrefe is completely focused on
the debate, stating the many ethical theories of many different theorists: from utilitarianism; natural
law; social contractrianism; communitarianism; and legal postivism (7). Holzgrefe goes on to
define what each ethical theorist is and their understanding of the debate on humanitarian
intervention. However, there is the idea of when it is right to intervene and when intervention is
unfavorable. The most interesting part was the third section of the article.

The idea of selective is that it is based on a voluntary choice to determine when and why one
should intervene when massacres and wars are surrounding certain countries. Brown sets up an
example where he discusses the speech of Prime Minister Tony Blair, in Blair s last question, he
asked do we have national interests involved? (4). Brown discusses how this question alone
shows selectivity. Brown goes on to say that what Blair meant was that unless interests are
directly involved, intervention is likely short lived and ineffective (6). However, goes back to the
idea of human rights violations, which has been the one of the main reasons why all these articles
have some theorist/individuals who are trying to validate that a good reason to intervene is for the
sole purpose of human rights, that it is not an obligation, but as a way to treat human as an end not
as means as Kant would say. Which briefly brings me to touch upon the fourth and last article by
Teson Fernando, the interesting part is that human intervention is an obligation. In a way that is
true, but no country is going to agree on that because countries are selfish and don t have an

society is getting better, which means an increase in sales and demands for better and newer models.
Question C: Describe how the changes you have observed in the marketplace might lead to the
need for new services.
Marketplace, especially in technology business is growing fast and constantly bringing the new
offers to the consumers. As a society we have an ongoing strive for newer and better things. It s
a part of the nature and it might seem like a race, but we tend to think that we can always have
something improved. We get a phone, but the new model comes out a month later. We are most
likely to go and get the new one, because it has more functions than our other phone. Do we really
need that new phone? Probably not, but it s the need for the newer and better things that will
always be there and rule the marketplace. It is a great opportunity for the businesses to grow and to
satisfy the consumer s needs.

The Characteristics And Effects Of The Human Brain
The Human Brain is the most important organ in the body. Much like the headquarters of the body.
Without the brain the rest of the body will suffer. The brain also creates different traits and
personalities. How ever when the brain doesn t function properly it will cause many effects to an
individual. These effects can range from minimal to severe, depending on what is wrong with the
brain.
The human brain is protected by a bone structure in a form of a skull. The brain has a light pink,
pail, and noodle look to it. It has lines in the brain to section parts of the brain. The brain feels
like jello, it s stays in place but squishy. Put to much pressure on it, it will break. The human
brain is very sensitive. The human brain is also wet and slimy, like the feeling of boggers. The
human brain has its own odd smell. Like rotting food in the trash. The average brain weighs
about three pounds. Robbie Gonzalez stated Assume it feels solid, firm, almost rubber like. But
the brains you encounter in a lab setting have almost always been fixed and preserved with
chemicals like formaldehyde, which have a dramatic effect on the texture and firmness of tissue
like brain matter (Gizmodo). What Robbie is saying that brains that are in lab class feel different
than a fresh brain. The reason why they feel different is that in the lab their preserved with
chemicals. That s what Robbie was talking about.
There are three major components that make up the brain. The Cerebrum, Brainstem,

Road Salt In Canada
Introduction
The only resource currently used the Canadian Government for de icing the roads during the winter
is road salt. Yet scientists have found through research that the continued use of road salt is not only
harmful to the environment (Novotny, Stefan, 2012; Equiza et al., 2017) which is also harmful to
the health and general well being of the population. Such reports have been published across
countries and specifically in Canada (Priority substances list assessment report, 2001). Furthermore,
the Canadian government has also conducted a report that highlighted in detail the negative
environmental impacts of road salt. (Priority substances list assessment report, 2001). However,

The Importance Of Managing Equality And Diversity
Unit 6:10 Introduction As a Senior Staff of London College of Science and Technology, this report
will address the importance of effectively managing equality and diversity as well as the dynamics
of leading and managing in my Organisation. The task is divided into two: The first task will
explain the meaning of equality and diversity, analysis of its legal requirement, implications,
policies and procedure, needs and expectations of stakeholder in relation to the organisation policy
on equality and diversity. The second task will appraise how to address equality and diversity,
evaluate methods of communicating commitment and analyse technique used to review and
monitor equality and diversity. Task 1 What is Organisational Equality and diversity? Though, it is
sometimes used interchangeably, the terms equality and diversity are not similar. According to
Department of Health, Equality is about providing a better society, where everyone can contribute
and has the opportunity to fulfil their potential (DoH, 2004). In my view, equality means treating
everyone with impartiality and respect, and knowing the needs of individuals. It is about addressing
present shortcomings affecting how people participate in society. Diversity means identifying,
valuing and taking into cognisance people s different backgrounds, understanding, skills, needs and
experiences. It is also about motivating and using those differences to create a

Role and Functions of Law Paper
Role and Functions of Law Paper
Role and Functions of Law Law plays a significant role in the successful operation of business and
society (Bushman, 2007). Laws help to keep behavior intact and regulate standards. Law sets rules
and expectations. They also provide ways to dispute issues while serving as an enforcer. The law
allows individuals to enjoy freedom, live in a fair society, check government, and have justice. The
law is very complex, therefore understanding the law is very important. Without law, a country
would lack government and rules, which would prevent it from running effectively and efficiently

Laws allow society to differentiate between state laws and federal laws. According to Melvin, the
federal is superior to state laws and if a state law that conflicts a federal law is not effective
(2011). No laws within a society mean a society that has no control. Without laws, people would
fight more and settle disputes with violence and aggression. With laws in place to protect citizens
and their assets, they have peace of mind knowing that there is confidentiality, freedom, and
security. Confidentiality creates an atmosphere of trust and encourages peace and togetherness.
Freedom encourages creativity and gives people limitless potential to explore new ideas. Security
brings peace of mind to individuals by allowing them to feel safe about their surroundings. Role and

Comparing Film Versions Of Hamlet And Branagh s Hamlet
Hamlet, a tragedy by William Shakespeare shows a lot of adaptations to movies. Hamlet by Mel
Gibson (1990) and Kenneth Branagh (1996) interpret and portray the play by Shakespeare in
different ways. The two film versions of Mel Gibson and Kenneth Branagh of Act IV of Hamlet
have many differences and similarities. Kenneth Branaghversion of Hamletis seen covering most of
the original text of Shakespeare s play of Hamlet unlike the Mel Gibson version which omits many
scenes and dialogues. The film version of Hamlet featuring Kenneth Branagh is a more successful
production of Shakespeare s play according to the setting and time period, cast and editing.
The difference between the costumes, scenery and setting shows how modern the Kenneth
Branagh version of Hamlet is than the Mel Gibson version of Hamlet. One of the difference
between the two films is the setting and time period. Mel Gibson version of Hamlet is set in a
dark and medieval time castle. Kenneth Branagh s movie of Hamlet was set in 19th century
making the setting of the castle more of a luxurious modern palace. The lighting of the movie
plays a major role in the production of the film because it demonstrates emotions and feelings from
the characters. For instance, in Hamlet starring Mel Gibson the lighting was adjusted to make the
scenes darker to show sadness and grief. According to props and costumes the Kenneth Branagh
version are very modern and unique while Mel Gibson version of hamlet costumes are more old

Measuring Density Lab
The purpose of this lab was to review the techniques for measuring mass and volume. Also using
raw data to calculate the density of each of the metal samples. The final objective was to compare
the density values with the values on the reference tables and calculate percent error.
Introduction: 1.Matter can be classified as a pure substance or a mixture of other substances. A pure
substance could be either an element like carbon or a compound like water. A mixture can be either
a homogenous mixture like salt solution or heterogeneous mixture like soil. Matter is also
separated by extensive and intensive properties.

Unknown samples of a pure substance may be identified using the properties of that substance by
finding the density of that unknown sample or the boiling and melting point of that sample and
compare them to see if they are identical.
5.A physical property is a quality of a substance that can be observed or measured without changing
the substance s composition. An example of a physical property is color and hardness. A chemical
property is when a substance undergoes a chemical change or reaction which change the identity of
the substance. An example of a chemical property would be heat of combustion.
6.Density is a characteristic property of a substance. Density is equal to the amount of mass in a
substance divided by the amount of volume of a substance. Density is the relationship between
mass of a substance and how much space it takes up which is volume. Density is an intrinsic
property. Mass and volume are both extrinsic on their own but when put together in a ratio for
density the number will remain constant. It is important to understand the difference because it is
easy to get mixed up since it can be an either or

The mentally impaired are immediately labeled as different. Questions on what to do with these

Ocean Map
Since the start of the 21st Century, countries that border the Arctic Ocean have begun to claim
sections of the Arctic seabed as their sovereign territory in hopes of obtaining potential oil and gas
that may exist there. As a result of this trend, cartographers created maps to show the regions
claimed by those countries, though not all maps succeed in presenting the territorial rights in an
understandable way. Of the two maps analyzed, the Arctic Sea Routes map triumphs in depicting
the regional disputes in a simple way, while the Durham Arctic Map is better suited for someone
who desires to understand the conflict beyond basics. The Artic Sea Routes map reveals that
travelling through the Arctic region for trade greatly reduces transit time. The title map suggests
that the map focuses on maritime paths through the Arctic. Centered on Iceland and including parts
of Africa on the map, the Sea Routes map, due to a focus on trade and therefore the ability of
boats to travel through a region, differentiates between ice and ocean. The Sea Routes map shows

Birth Control And Reproductive Rights
In the early 1900 s Margaret Sanger revolutionized the lives of women forever by securing the
rights of women to control their own fertility and the rights of a child to be wanted. Today we take
birth control for granted and it is indeed a right that we give little or no thought too therefore It is
difficult to imagine Sangers struggle to introduce birth controland reproductive rights in the U.S.A

Congress As Part Of The Fair Labor Standards Act
Congress as part of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) instituted minimum wage back in 1938.
The first minimum wage was at $0.25 per hour and the last minimum wage increase occurred in
2007. Over the past 65 years the minimum wage has varied considerably in inflation adjusted
buying power. It has averaged $6.60 an hour in purchasing power in 2013 dollars, but it has ranged
from a low of $3.09 an hour in late 1948 to a high of $8.67 an hour in 1968. Today s minimum wage
buys somewhat more than the minimum wage has historically, although it remains over a dollar an
hour below its historical high. In addition to the federal minimum wage, nearly all states within the
United States have their own minimum wage laws with the exception of South Carolina,
Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. Sixteen states have a minimum wage that is higher
than the federal minimum wage. The first moves to legislate wages did not set minimum wages,
rather the laws created arbitration boards and councils to resolve labor conflicts before the recourse
to strikes. Minimum wage is raised usually when there is a time of healthy economic growth and
low unemployment. In 1990, Congress enacted a minimum wage hike that took effect on April 1 of
that year, when unemployment stood at 5.4 percent. Congress voted to raise the minimum wage
again in August 1996 when unemployment stood at 5.1 percent. The next vote to raise the
minimum wage occurred in May 2007, when unemployment stood at 4.4 percent.

Corrupt Leader In The Lord Of The Flies By William Golding

Mr. Dixon
Freshman English Block 8
6 November 2017 Corrupt leaders. To follow? Or not to follow?
Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man s character, give him power.
Abraham Lincoln. Once you give a man power, it all goes downhill from there. In The Lord of
the Flies by William Golding, there is one group of boys on an island. The boys elect one chief,
Ralph, but another bigun thinks he s a better chief. So the other boy, Jack, leaves and forms a
new tribe with most of the boys. After a little bit of time, the groups start to fight resulting in a
couple of deaths. Why would people follow a corrupt leader like Jack? They follow them because
they feel like the new leader can help them better than the old one, they think that the leader can
provide for them and it doesn t matter who that leader is, they will follow them because there s no
one else to follow.
One reason that people will follow a corrupt leader is that the people will look for anyone else to
leave them other than their current leader. All at once, Robert was screaming and struggling with
the strength of the frenzy. Jack had him by the hair and was brandishing a knife behind him was
Roger, fighting to get close. The chant rose ritually, as at the last moment of a dance or a hunt
(114) Even though Jack was hurting one of his friends they still wanted to follow him because he

concerts for inmates in 1957 in Texas at the Huntsville State Prison. In 1958 he performed at San
Quentin for the first time, where he influenced inmate Merle Haggard to join the prison country
band and later make a band of his own called The Strangers. In 1966, he first performed in Folsom
Prison for which he wrote the song Folsom Prison Blues
Although Cash carefully cultivated a romantic outlaw image, he never served a prison sentence,
even though he was in jail seven times for small offences, each stay lasted only a single night.
His most well known encounter with the law happened while on tour in 1965, when he was
arrested October 4 by a narcotics squad in El Paso, Texas. The officers suspected he was
smuggling heroin from Mexico, but found instead 688 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

saving his life, and he later came back to LaFayette to play a benefit concert that attracted 12,000

Illegal Trafficking Is A Source, Transit, And Destination...
According to the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime, Bangladesh is a source, transit, and
destination for human trafficking involving women, men, and children (1). Bangladeshi men and
women are lured into work under false pretenses within their own country or into neighboring
countries (2). A large proportion of cross border trafficking in Bangladesh is due to migration in
search of employment. Most are subjected to forced labor or forced prostitution(3).
Thousands of unreported children are trafficked from Bangladesh to other countries every year
(2). Children who are taken by traffickers often come from impoverished or isolated regions. The
parents are promised that their children will have a well paid job or a nice marriage (4).
Impoverished and desperate, they trust the offers, which ultimately lead their children to be
exploited through trafficking (7).
3)If this is a destination country and/or if there is internal human trafficking, which forms of
trafficking are common in this country? (If you think that there are no forms of trafficking
happening within this country, provide citations about that and some reasons why it is not
happening. The reasons don t have to be proven, but they must be plausible.)
Within the country, trafficked people are subjected to sex trafficking, domestic servitude, or forced
and bonded labor (7).
Girls are commonly trafficked into sexual exploitation or bonded servitude. The sexual exploitation
of boys is a fast growing issue in

The Cherry Orchard By Anton Chekhov And Metamorphosis
Jamie Barker Candidate number 3375 Exploration Notes In this unit we were studying two
contrasting plays which were the Cherry Orchard was written by Anton Chekhov and
Metamorphosis written by Franz Kafka. As a class we first read the plays and then explored
these plays through a series of workshops and as a result this helped deepen my understanding of
the plays and help develop and strengthen my acting skills. Social Cultural Historical and
Political The Cherry Orchard Social: Social change is one particular theme that is mentioned
throughout the play. In one workshop we looked at Ken Johnson s idea on status to deepen our
understanding of characterisation. The key to Johnson s work is to follow simple techniques to
show what type of status the character belongs to: not holding eye contact, weak in space, sitting
to show the use of levels. These techniques are for the low given status characters. Not moving
your neck, commanding space and holding eye contact for 3 seconds is the status of a high
status or status expert. I watched another group but I focused on Henry as he explored the
character of Yasha, I thought her given status was low because he was formerly a muzick and was
brought into the family by Andreevna. He also used the technique of being weak in space by
letting the other characters demand the space and use it more effectively than herself to show how
she is represented in the play. Although he did show his character to be a status expert later on in

Charles Ives Symphony 4 Analysis
Charles Ives composed the Symphony No. 4 between 1910 and the mid 1920s. The symphony is
unique because it applies a multi layered complexity, which requires two conductors to
synchronize performance due to its huge, varied, and different orchestration. The symphony is
composed of 4 different movements, which are Prelude (Maestoso), Comedy (Allegretto), Fugue
(Andante moderato con moto), and, lastly, the Finale (Very Slowly Largo Maestoso). All four
symphonies combined take 30 minutes to play. In this assignment, I will discuss on the Finale:
Very Slowly Largo Maestoso, which duration is roughly 10 minutes. According to my analysis, it
consists of an estimate of 13 layers of musical events, marked by varying musical tones and
rhythms, introduction of different orchestral instruments, and changes in musical intensity. Below
is my analysis divided into sections according to the track time and variations of the orchestral
events. Section 1 (00:00 01:04): The symphony begins with intense background soundtrack along
with marching drumbeats. Section 2 (01:04 01:14): The intense soundtrack is brought to the
foreground. It has a nostalgic tone, and the marching drumbeats continue to play. Section 3
(01:14 01:23): A high pitched soundtrack is introduced to the symphony, which then softens and
tones down. The marching drumbeats cease playing. Section 4 (01:23 01:58): The high pitched
soundtrack continues playing alongside the nostalgic soundtrack in a synchronized manner.
The piano is also introduced then it dies abruptly. Section 5 (01:59 02:45): The piano and violin
play softly in the foreground in synchronized harmony. Section 6 (02:45 02:46): There is a slight
pause in the music where all the musical instruments cease playing. Section 5 (02:46 03:02):
There is a repeat in the slow rhythm of the violin and the piano. Section 4 (03:02 03:06): There is
an abruptly increased pitch in violin creating a nostalgic mood before toning down to the slow
violin and piano rhythm. This is slightly similar to the above section 4 at time 01:23. Section 5
(03:06 03:34): Piano and violin again play in a slow rhythm. Section 7 (03:34 03:53): The pitch of
the musical instruments increase leading to a higher tone that creates

Personal Statement Of Intent
Ever since I was a little girl, I ve been very passionate about fashion and the way I look. I was
drawing all the time from graphic paintings to designing shoes and clothes, even bride dresses. I
studied Fashion Design in high school where I decided I would like to continue study the fashion
industry but in more in the business side of it. It has been a dream of mine to live in New York
and to study at FashionInstitute of Technology.
Originally I am from Bulgaria, Eastern Europe. I moved to The Us when I was 22 years old. I lived
in New Jersey for a couple of years and I finally moved to the city that never sleeps a year and a
half ago. When I was still in Jersey, I talked to a friend who s been a fashion designer since he
was a teenager. We had a long six hours conversation about fashion, designers, different eras of
fashion, magazines and so on and on. It felt so good to talk to someone who has the same
interests as me. This is one of the reasons why I would love to get accepted at FIT to meet new

The World Of The Desert
Dubai has built some of the world s prettiest buildings and other amazing feats that can t be
accomplished in the desert, but they somehow did it. For example, they built the tallest building
in the world in the middle of the desert, and the world s first 7 star hotel on an island in the
Persian Gulf. They have also built the two biggest malls in the world and one of them has a ski
slope in it, yet it stands in the middle of the desert. They also built a 5 star golf course in the
desert and it is one of the prettiest golf courses in the world. They also just passed London s
Heathrow airport for being the most traveled through airport, because when in Dubaitwo flights can
land people anywhere in the world. As a result, they just announced they are building a new
airport that will make the old one look like child s play. When they ran out of shoreline, for
beachfront properties for the rich and wealthy, they built new islands, all in shapes appealing to
tourists, like palm trees or the globe. Ironically, Dubai doesn t get most of their money from oil,
they get it from tourism. This strategy is bold, since if they fail to build things that will bring in
tourists, one of the greatest cities on earth will not be so great anymore. Dubai has to go big or go
home.

A Study On A Cerebral Vascular Accident
A cerebral vascular incident can happen to anyone at anytime. Some people know it be called a
stroke, CVA, or brain attack. The majority of patients who have had a stoke will have another one
within one year. Stoke tend to occur more often in the southern United States also known as the
stroke belt . This may be related to the larger number of elderly, tobacco use, and obesity. A
cerebral vascular accident ranks high in the major leading causes of death in the United States, and
it happens nearly every four minutes. There are three different types of strokeischemic,
hemorrhagic, and transient ischemic attacks. The larger number of cerebral vascular accidents is
known to be ischemic. The artery that supplies the brain with blood... Show more content on

Each minute that passes is increased cell death in the brain. This means the effect of the stroke
will be more severe and have more of an impact on the person. A stroke is a medical emergency
and signs should be recognized and treated abruptly. Signs of a cerebral vascular accident include
decreased sensation, weakness, confusion, trouble speaking or understanding, trouble seeing or
blurred vision, trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination, or headache with no
known cause. The American Heart Association (2013), has put out a saying, Spot a stroke F.A.S.T.
F for face drooping, A for arm weakness, S for speech difficulty, T for time to call 911. Treatment is
dependent upon the onset of the symptoms, so acting fast and seeking medical attention is critical.
Women may report unique symptoms such as loss of consciousness or fainting, general weakness,
difficult or shortness of breath, confusion, unresponsiveness, sudden behavioral change, agitation,
hallucination, nausea or vomiting, pain, seizures, or hiccups.
If the patient controls specific risk factors a stroke can be warded off. Managing risk factors
includes blood pressure, which is the cause of half of all strokes, tobacco use, atrial fibrillation and
physical inactivity. In order to prevent some of these key risk medications may be needed.

Pride In Sophocles Antigone
Sophocles, in Antigone says, if we cannot determine what is right or wrong, we should ignore pride
and continue living by reasoning and follow God s laws; however, if we don t follow God s law
we will experience the wrath of God.
In a world where we have the incapability to determine what is morally right or wrong we need to
ignore pride as it places us on a course that only leads to devastation. Sophocles uses Creon as an
example of what the outcome would be for following his own pride as his actions backfire on him.
When Creon is finalizing his decision to sentence Antigone to death, he focuses on his pride in
position as King rather than his loyalty to the Gods. Such pride is compared to the Gods as it says
in Ode 2, No pride on earth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our brains would be filled hesitation, confusion, and have the inability to do something that is
satisfactory according to our knowledge. If we determine our actions by our own pride, we will
soon realize that pride is not, free of the curse of heaven. The immortal God that lives above us
will curse us as God has cursed Creon for his actions. However, we have been given an ability
called reason, God s crowning gift to man, to support our actions as we don t know what s right
or wrong. Once we ve ignored pride and utilized reason we must listen to, God s proclamation
because his laws are higher than man s laws. Unfortunately, there will be those who fail to do so,
resulting in the indirect confrontation with God who is, swift with terrible punishment. We must
listen to the immortal God and his laws by ignoring pride and utilizing his gift ultimately
determining what we do. If we fail to do so, we will experience his wrath which could ultimately
lead to death of not just the convicted, but those surrounding him or her causing pain. In the play,
Creon s lifelong achievements and personal gains would only give him temporary happiness, but
in the long run it would all have been for nothing. If we take advantage of his gift as Creon has
done by using reason against him for our own self gain, the outcome will result in punishment by
death and pain. However, if we

Women In Australia s Political System
Georgie Taylor investigates the unequal representation of women in Australia s Political System.
To quote BeyoncГ© Knowles Carter, an influential modern feminist, in her song Flawless she
defines a feminist as a person who believes in the social, political and economic equality of the
sexes
There are currently only two women in Tony Abbott s Federal Cabinet and Australia only has 8
women in its 43 member cabinet. Women only hold 19% of senior leadership roles in the
Government. So it s safe to say that the Federal Government is still predominantly a boys club .
Tony Abbott, the current Prime Minister of Australia, when attending university wrote I think it

Allowing women to vote, wage increases, employment and parental leave have been major
winning battles for women in Australia and all around the world, but the fights not over yet. Equal
representation in politics is a new critical battle that must be tackled head on. It is essential for
women to be able to express their opinions on the political course of Australia.
Feminists from Rose Scott an important figure in the women s suffrage campaign and who devoted
her life to improving the condition of women, to BeyoncГ© pushing for women s rights through the
media and music industry, have greatly aided in shaping and transforming the structures of
feminism today.
Female representation is impediment for Political matters and topics regarding women decided by
the Federal Government. For example, in 2006, female Senators from all main parties united and
supported a bill to change legislation on the abortion pill, removing the Health Minister Tony
Abbott s right to retain the veto on the introduction of the

Religion s Views On Religion
Religion has been present in this world for thousands of years, providing ancient civilizations with
answers to their questions and a moral code to abide by. Today, religion still serves that same
purpose and more, forming and changing as time goes on. Though religions today may share some
elements, they do share vastly different opinions on the soul, time, truth, and the senses, and
provide answers and a way of life to those who desire it.
Two forms of religion are animism versus anthropocentrism. Animism is the belief that everything
has a soul animals, plants, the elements. Animistic religions view everything as sacred, so the Earth
and those who inhabit deserve to be treated with respect. Anthropocentric religions, however, hold a
drastically different opinion. While animistic religions view all as sacred, anthropocentric religions
such as Christianity, Judaism, and Islam believe that only humans have a soul, placing them on a
pedestal and view them as something more than all other lifeforms. Due to the beliefs of
anthropocentric religions, it can be argued that they benefit the capitalist economy. The capitalist
economy likes to turn anything into a profit, and by placing humans on a pedestal and viewing
everything else as a lesser being, anthropocentric religions allow the exploitation of natural
resources without disrespecting a life form. While animistic religions would voice out against mass
energy consumption, anthropocentric religions permit it for the

How successful were Hobbes and Locke in their attempts to justify the existence of Human Rights?
In this essay, the main distinctions of Hobbes and Lock s work will be discussed and how their
work contributed to the existence of human rights. Other predominant thinkers, such as Bentham

According to Hobbes, to deny this right would be meaningless. Hobbes sharply distinguished
this natural liberty , from natural laws , described generally as a precept, or general rule, found
out by reason, by which a man is forbidden to do, that, which is destructive of his life, or taken
away the means of preserving his life; and to omit, that, by which he thought it may best be
preserved. In his natural state, according to Hobbes, man s life consisted entirely of liberties and
not at all of laws It followed that in such a condition, every man has the right to everything, and
therefore, as long as this natural right of every man to everything endured, there can be no
security to any man... of living out the time, which Nature ordinarily allow men to live. This
would lead inevitably to a situation known as the war of all against all , in which human beings
kill, steal and enslave others in order to stay alive, and due to their natural lust for Gain , Safety
and Reputation . Hobbes reasoned that this world of chaos created by unlimited rights was highly
undesirable, since it would cause human life to be solitary, poor, nasty,

Democratization Of The Market Case Study
In the past, private individuals and large institutions have largely invested in actively managed
mutual funds, such as Fidelity, in which fund managers choose stocks with one goal to surpass the
market.
But after the financial crisis of 2008, investors switched to index funds, which reproduce stock
indices, such as the S P 500.
The scale of the changes is striking: from 2007 to 2016. in actively managed funds an outflow of
about $ 1.2 trillion was recorded, while index funds received more than $ 1.4 trillion.
In the first quarter of 2017, index funds raised more than $ 200 billion and this is the highest
quarterly growth.

investments, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the S P 500 the benchmark index of the largest corporations in America the situation
is even more extreme. Together, the Big Three is the largest shareholder in almost 90% of the

is the index in which most people invest.
The power of passive investors
With corporate property comes the power of the shareholder.
Recently, BlackRock claimed that it had not legally been the owner of the shares on its balance
sheet, but rather acts as a kind of custodian for its investors.
This is common practice for lawyers.
What can not be denied is that the Big Three still uses the right to vote with these shares.
Therefore, they should be perceived by the owners of de facto corporate leaders.
These companies have publicly stated that they are seeking to exert influence. William McNabb,
chairman and chief executive officer of Vanguard, said in 2015 that in the past, some mistakenly
believed that our predominantly passive management style implies a passive attitude toward
corporate governance, but that s very far from the truth.
And if you analyze the vote of the Big Three, it turns out that it is coordinated through centralized
departments of corporate governance. This requires considerable effort, because technically

Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus
Author: John Larigakis, Boston University
April, 2014
Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS CoV) Since its first description in
2012 by Dr. Ali Zaki1 the Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus has been confirmed
in the infection of 206 individuals and has resulted in 86 deaths2. The disease resulting from MERS
CoV infection presents with a fever of greater than 100.4бµ’F, acute respiratory distress syndrome
and pneumonia associated with acute renal failure1. The origin of the pathogen is in the Middle
East including the following countries: Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabiaand the United
Arab Emirates. Beyond the Arabian Peninsula the following countries have also been affected:
France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom2. If the number of cases, mortality, disease state
and distribution of the infection are considered then it is justifiable to say that MERS CoV is an
emerging infectious disease that must be investigated, understood and followed closely in order to
prevent the loss of life. MERS CoV is a coronavirus of the subgenus known as the
betacoronaviruses. It is an enveloped, positive sense, single stranded RNA species that infects the
respiratory tract and kidney epithelium of both humans and animals3. This virus falls under the
subgroup of betacoronaviruses known as lineage C which, up until this novel virus was identified,
included isolates from bats. Indeed, the coronaviruses BtCoV HKU4 and BtCoV HKU5, which

Analysis Of Tim Willis s The At T Summer Bridge
When I first arrived to the AT T Summer Bridge, one of the first people I meet was Tim Willis.
He was heaver involved the project aspect of the camp, but still present in that time. The more I
talked to him the more interesting his experiences were. He then invited me to check out the
Sooner off Road team, and joined the team. Tim is in his senior year of school and is the person
with a lot of experience in the Mechanical Engineeringfield before graduation. His interest was
more through tinkering with things. From a young he found it fun to design, build, and test
things in his free time. During this time, he joined the Boys Scouts of America and became an
Eagle Scout in the organization. To achieve this rank he created a Man made waterfall in a
stream as a final project. I was told by him it was very challenging, but after that he finds a
challenge and tackles it head on. However, the greatest challenge he had to tackle was in 2011.
During that year Tim was a junior in high school, his house was hit by a tornado.
Everything I owned was gone. The only thing I had were the clothes on my back. This thought me
a lesson in humbleness, through the whole process of getting back to where we were. I mean we
went from having a home to being homeless. It made me realize that things don not last forever.
Tim s family was able to get back to where they were, but he will always remember this experience.
Afterwards, this short story Tim told me how he got interested in Mechanical

The Ambassador, By Ghazzi Alqussaibi
Translators are literary ambassadors, bringing a foreign work to the audience of the target
language. Choosing to translate His Excellency, The Ambassador, by Ghazzi AlQussaibi, was
my primary pick for its popularity among Arab readers around the world. Some critics claim that
the novel is actually a true story of an Arab politician, who was a close friend of the author. The
author was actually a political figure for most of his life, we find almost all of his novels were
centered on the life and work of politicians. When I started to translate this novel, I faced several
obstacles ranging from linguistic, cultural, and political challenges. The setting of the novel was
not accurate to the real life. At the beginning, Yusuf Alfalaki arrived at the Saint James Palace to
meet the prime minister of the United Kingdom at his office. Most people know that the office of
the prime minister is actually at the 10 Downing Street, and there is no office for the prime
minister at the Saint James Palace. Saint James Palace is a historical building that is still occupied
by some the royal family. So why would the author give inaccurate historical account of places, even
though he was once ambassador for long in the United Kingdom? I thought of changing the whole
setting to the actual headquarter of the government office, but If I had to change the setting, then I
would give wrong descriptions to the building and the rooms inside as described thoroughly and
sarcastically by the author.

  • 2. Florence Nightingale Influence In nursing school, I remembered learning about Florence Nightingale and her impact in nursing. Still to this day, her teachings and work to advance nursing is discussed. The nursing profession has grown and evolved a great deal since the times of Nightingale. However, visionaries such as her and their theories have been the ones making that happen. The first three American training schools for nurses, modeled after Nightingale s famous school at St. Thomas Hospital in London, opened in 1873 (Black, 2014, p. 26). As nursing grew and more work was done to advance nursing as a profession, the developing of professional associations such as ANA and NLNE helped further that goal. As author Black (2014) continues, The precursor to the National League for Nursing, the American Society of Superintendents of Training Schools for Nurses, was formed to address issues in nursing education. The society changed its name in 1912 to the National League of Nursing Education (NLNE) and in 1952 became the National League for Nursing (NLN). This event held during the Chicago World s Fair became a pivotal point in nursing history. Three years later, in 1896, Isabel Hampton Robb founded the group that eventually became the American Nurses Association... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Puente Hills Fault is one of the most dangerous sleeping monsters (if it were to) create an earthquake. It is located in the Los Angeles basin, where it can cause approximately 45 seconds of rippling instead of just 7 seconds because it is on softer ground, cause thousands of deaths, and potentially destroy the city of Los Angeles. The first big one that hit Californiawas in San Francisco by the San Andreas Fault. This earthquakegave recognition to the dangers of the tectonic plates right beneath us. Separation Of A Mixture Lab Separation of a Mixture Purpose/Introduction The purpose of this separation of a mixture lab is to give students the challenge of figuring out how to separate a provided mixture, and following through with their procedure. Its components stay in a fixed ratio to each other, and they can only be separated by relatively difficult chemical means. A mixtureis a physical combination of pure substances. • 10. Why Spanking Children Is Wrong Why Spanking Children is Wrong Parents have been spanking their children for hundreds of years, but recently this practice has come into question. The concern is not regarding the effectiveness of spanking but the correctness of spanking. Parents should not be allowed to strike their children. Child abuse is defined as any unnecessary or intentional physical or emotional or sexual mistreatment of children. Spankingis not the only method of child discipline. Spanking is not even the most effective method of child discipline. Numerous studies have made it evident that spanking does have a negative effect on children. Spanking children should be considered child abusebecause it teaches children the wrong message about hitting, it does not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When spanked feel bitterness, anger, and even hate towards the parent. In addition to these three principal reasons which show the inappropriateness of spanking, there are also other concerns. One main worry about spanking is that it is a lower level form of child abuse. It is against the law for a person to hit another person. Children are also people and should not be discriminated against simply because they are smaller. The main reason that parents use spanking as a discipline technique is because it is what they received when they were children. However, in many cases spanking has nothing to do with helping the child. It is used as a quick solution to stop negative behavior with no real regard for the long term outcome. Parents often spank their children because they themselves are angry. These parents simply cannot handle a situation and take it out on their child. Spanking might be more accepted if it was the only, or the most successful, form of discipline, but it is not. Spanking is simply a short term fix of a child s discipline problems. Two of the widely used alternatives to spanking are the time out and restriction punishments. Time out is most effective when administered to children under ten years of age, and a restriction mostly benefits children over ten years old. • 14. Cardiovascular System Vs Extravascular Compartment In humans the cardiovascular system (blood circulatory system, intravascular compartment) provides the function of the extravascular compartment (organs and tissues). Physical conditions (fluid dynamics) in these two compartments are different: the intravascular compartment (cardiovascular system) is dynamic with liquid (blood) circulation, whereas the extravascular compartment is static, the cells are fixed and liquid flow is minimal or absent. Blood mean velocity in different parts of the cardiovascular system (aorta, capillaries, veins) is from 0.03 sm / sec to 40 cm/sec [44 46]. A bacterium of a 1Вµm size for one second travels with blood a distance that exceeds its body size from 300 to 400,000 times. Eighteenth Century English Literature Chapter III: Eighteenth Century English Literature LITERATURE OF THE ENLIGHTENMENT (18th century) The 17th century was one of the most stormy periods of English history. The growing contradictions between the new class, the bourgeoisie, and the old forces of feudalism brought about the English Bourgeois Revolution in the 1640s. As a result of the revolution the king was dethroned and beheaded and England was proclaimed a republic. Though very soon monarchy was restored, the position of the bourgeoisie had changed. Although the restaurant industry is perceived to have high risk of failure, the risk of a restaurant failing is not too different from other small businesses. Parsa et al. quantified the risk of failure at 26% in the first year and 57% by year 3. He also described several factors that can influence the risk of failure. Those include physical location, firm size, speed of growth, differentiation from other restaurants in the market, adapting to external trends, and management experience. In terms of location and differentiation, Paul s bar will be located in a new development designed to attract affluent customers and with very few competitors. Paul s small firm size increases risk because of barriers to attract partners (i.e. suppliers and bankers are prejudiced against smaller firms) and growth that may be too rapid to manage. On the other hand, Robert already has experience in the restaurant business and should know how to run the bar and subsequent restaurant. Their choice of a piano bar may be in response to local trends that favor success. A final question is whether Paul should apply his student loan money to the startup costs. Since his living expenses and tuition are already paid by the Ford Foundation grant, the loan money is not immediately needed. Ocean Map Since the start of the 21st Century, countries that border the Arctic Ocean have begun to claim sections of the Arctic seabed as their sovereign territory in hopes of obtaining potential oil and gas that may exist there. As a result of this trend, cartographers created maps to show the regions claimed by those countries, though not all maps succeed in presenting the territorial rights in an understandable way. Of the two maps analyzed, the Arctic Sea Routes map triumphs in depicting the regional disputes in a simple way, while the Durham Arctic Map is better suited for someone who desires to understand the conflict beyond basics. The Artic Sea Routes map reveals that travelling through the Arctic region for trade greatly reduces transit time. The title map suggests that the map focuses on maritime paths through the Arctic. Centered on Iceland and including parts of Africa on the map, the Sea Routes map, due to a focus on trade and therefore the ability of boats to travel through a region, differentiates between ice and ocean. Social Cultural Historical and Political The Cherry Orchard Social: Social change is one particular theme that is mentioned throughout the play. In one workshop we looked at Ken Johnson s idea on status to deepen our understanding of characterisation. The key to Johnson s work is to follow simple techniques to show what type of status the character belongs to: not holding eye contact, weak in space, sitting to show the use of levels. These techniques are for the low given status characters. Not moving your neck, commanding space and holding eye contact for 3 seconds is the status of a high status or status expert. I watched another group but I focused on Henry as he explored the character of Yasha, I thought her given status was low because he was formerly a muzick and was brought into the family by Andreevna. The symphony is unique because it applies a multi layered complexity, which requires two conductors to synchronize performance due to its huge, varied, and different orchestration. The symphony is composed of 4 different movements, which are Prelude (Maestoso), Comedy (Allegretto), Fugue (Andante moderato con moto), and, lastly, the Finale (Very Slowly Largo Maestoso). All four symphonies combined take 30 minutes to play. In this assignment, I will discuss on the Finale: Very Slowly Largo Maestoso, which duration is roughly 10 minutes. According to my analysis, it consists of an estimate of 13 layers of musical events, marked by varying musical tones and rhythms, introduction of different orchestral instruments, and changes in musical intensity. Below is my analysis divided into sections according to the track time and variations of the orchestral events. Section 1 (00:00 01:04): The symphony begins with intense background soundtrack along with marching drumbeats. Section 2 (01:04 01:14): The intense soundtrack is brought to the foreground. It has a nostalgic tone, and the marching drumbeats continue to play. Section 3 (01:14 01:23): A high pitched soundtrack is introduced to the symphony, which then softens and tones down. The marching drumbeats cease playing. Section 4 (01:23 01:58): The high pitched soundtrack continues playing alongside the nostalgic soundtrack in a synchronized manner. The piano is also introduced then it dies abruptly. Section 5 (01:59 02:45): The piano and violin play softly in the foreground in synchronized harmony. Section 6 (02:45 02:46): There is a slight pause in the music where all the musical instruments cease playing. Section 5 (02:46 03:02): There is a repeat in the slow rhythm of the violin and the piano. Section 4 (03:02 03:06): There is an abruptly increased pitch in violin creating a nostalgic mood before toning down to the slow violin and piano rhythm. This is slightly similar to the above section 4 at time 01:23. Section 5 (03:06 03:34): Piano and violin again play in a slow rhythm. Today, religion still serves that same purpose and more, forming and changing as time goes on. Though religions today may share some elements, they do share vastly different opinions on the soul, time, truth, and the senses, and provide answers and a way of life to those who desire it. Two forms of religion are animism versus anthropocentrism. Animism is the belief that everything has a soul animals, plants, the elements. Animistic religions view everything as sacred, so the Earth and those who inhabit deserve to be treated with respect. Anthropocentric religions, however, hold a drastically different opinion. While animistic religions view all as sacred, anthropocentric religions such as Christianity, Judaism, and Islam believe that only humans have a soul, placing them on a pedestal and view them as something more than all other lifeforms. Hobbes sharply distinguished this natural liberty , from natural laws , described generally as a precept, or general rule, found out by reason, by which a man is forbidden to do, that, which is destructive of his life, or taken away the means of preserving his life; and to omit, that, by which he thought it may best be preserved. In his natural state, according to Hobbes, man s life consisted entirely of liberties and not at all of laws It followed that in such a condition, every man has the right to everything, and therefore, as long as this natural right of every man to everything endured, there can be no security to any man... of living out the time, which Nature ordinarily allow men to live. This would lead inevitably to a situation known as the war of all against all , in which human beings kill, steal and enslave others in order to stay alive, and due to their natural lust for Gain , Safety and Reputation . Hobbes reasoned that this world of chaos created by unlimited rights was highly undesirable, since it would cause human life to be solitary, poor, nasty, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Residential Residential Door Repair Residential Door Repairs Enhance a Home s Security, Safety, and Beauty The outside doors of a home provide exterior beauty, security from strangers, and safety from bad weather. With constant use and the changing Charlotte temperatures, homeowners may see or feel signs of doors and door repair requirements that need professional attention. Some malfunctions in standard and deadbolt locks are frequently easier to feel than to see. A small chip in the edge of a key can make it impossible to fit the key completely into the lock, or the key fits into the lock, but will not turn. • 53. Democratization Of The Market Case Study In the past, private individuals and large institutions have largely invested in actively managed mutual funds, such as Fidelity, in which fund managers choose stocks with one goal to surpass the market. But after the financial crisis of 2008, investors switched to index funds, which reproduce stock indices, such as the S P 500. The scale of the changes is striking: from 2007 to 2016. in actively managed funds an outflow of about $ 1.2 trillion was recorded, while index funds received more than $ 1.4 trillion. In the first quarter of 2017, index funds raised more than $ 200 billion and this is the highest quarterly growth. Democratization of the market, this shift, the shift, perhaps the largest in the modern history of investments, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the S P 500 the benchmark index of the largest corporations in America the situation is even more extreme. Together, the Big Three is the largest shareholder in almost 90% of the index companies, including Apple, Microsoft, ExxonMobil, General Electric and Coca Cola. This is the index in which most people invest. The power of passive investors With corporate property comes the power of the shareholder. Recently, BlackRock claimed that it had not legally been the owner of the shares on its balance sheet, but rather acts as a kind of custodian for its investors. This is common practice for lawyers. What can not be denied is that the Big Three still uses the right to vote with these shares. Therefore, they should be perceived by the owners of de facto corporate leaders. These companies have publicly stated that they are seeking to exert influence. William McNabb, chairman and chief executive officer of Vanguard, said in 2015 that in the past, some mistakenly believed that our predominantly passive management style implies a passive attitude toward corporate governance, but that s very far from the truth. And if you analyze the vote of the Big Three, it turns out that it is coordinated through centralized departments of corporate governance. This requires considerable effort, because technically ... • 54. Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus Author: John Larigakis, Boston University April, 2014 Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS CoV) Since its first description in 2012 by Dr. Ali Zaki1 the Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus has been confirmed in the infection of 206 individuals and has resulted in 86 deaths2. The disease resulting from MERS CoV infection presents with a fever of greater than 100.4бµ’F, acute respiratory distress syndrome and pneumonia associated with acute renal failure1. The origin of the pathogen is in the Middle East including the following countries: Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabiaand the United Arab Emirates. Beyond the Arabian Peninsula the following countries have also been affected: France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom2. If the number of cases, mortality, disease state and distribution of the infection are considered then it is justifiable to say that MERS CoV is an emerging infectious disease that must be investigated, understood and followed closely in order to prevent the loss of life. MERS CoV is a coronavirus of the subgenus known as the betacoronaviruses. It is an enveloped, positive sense, single stranded RNA species that infects the respiratory tract and kidney epithelium of both humans and animals3. This virus falls under the subgroup of betacoronaviruses known as lineage C which, up until this novel virus was identified, included isolates from bats. Indeed, the coronaviruses BtCoV HKU4 and BtCoV HKU5, which were only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. Analysis Of Tim Willis s The At T Summer Bridge When I first arrived to the AT T Summer Bridge, one of the first people I meet was Tim Willis. He was heaver involved the project aspect of the camp, but still present in that time. The more I talked to him the more interesting his experiences were. He then invited me to check out the Sooner off Road team, and joined the team. Tim is in his senior year of school and is the person with a lot of experience in the Mechanical Engineeringfield before graduation. His interest was more through tinkering with things. From a young he found it fun to design, build, and test things in his free time. During this time, he joined the Boys Scouts of America and became an Eagle Scout in the organization. To achieve this rank he created a Man made waterfall in a stream as a final project. I was told by him it was very challenging, but after that he finds a challenge and tackles it head on. However, the greatest challenge he had to tackle was in 2011. During that year Tim was a junior in high school, his house was hit by a tornado. Everything I owned was gone. The only thing I had were the clothes on my back. This thought me a lesson in humbleness, through the whole process of getting back to where we were. I mean we went from having a home to being homeless. It made me realize that things don not last forever. Tim s family was able to get back to where they were, but he will always remember this experience. Afterwards, this short story Tim told me how he got interested in Mechanical ... • 56. The Ambassador, By Ghazzi Alqussaibi Translators are literary ambassadors, bringing a foreign work to the audience of the target language. Choosing to translate His Excellency, The Ambassador, by Ghazzi AlQussaibi, was my primary pick for its popularity among Arab readers around the world. Some critics claim that the novel is actually a true story of an Arab politician, who was a close friend of the author. The author was actually a political figure for most of his life, we find almost all of his novels were centered on the life and work of politicians. When I started to translate this novel, I faced several obstacles ranging from linguistic, cultural, and political challenges. The setting of the novel was not accurate to the real life. At the beginning, Yusuf Alfalaki arrived at the Saint James Palace to meet the prime minister of the United Kingdom at his office. Most people know that the office of the prime minister is actually at the 10 Downing Street, and there is no office for the prime minister at the Saint James Palace. Saint James Palace is a historical building that is still occupied by some the royal family. So why would the author give inaccurate historical account of places, even though he was once ambassador for long in the United Kingdom? I thought of changing the whole setting to the actual headquarter of the government office, but If I had to change the setting, then I would give wrong descriptions to the building and the rooms inside as described thoroughly and sarcastically by the author. ...
