Speech-Language Pathology Research Paper
A Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is a specialist who evaluates and treats patients or students with
speech, language, cognitive communication, and swallowing disorders in individuals of all ages,
according to MedicineNet (MedicineNet). People of all ages can struggle with speaking whether it be
articulating letters, stuttering or dyslexia. It is easiest to help correct these challenges at a younger age,
but not impossible when you are older. Regardless of the age or the reason behind the treatment, the
most important part is that the individual receives the therapy that is needed to help them reach their
optimum ability in communication and speaking.
Before starting this project, I didn t know very much about Speech Language Pathology. I ... Show

While with Ms. Smith, I was able to learn more about the difference between Medical Speech
Language Pathology and School Speech Language Pathology. One of the major differences was the
schooling you have to go through to become each type of pathologist. In a school, they require a
masters to pass the national test, and a teaching certificate, where as a medical SLP s need a masters to
pass the national test, and a certificate of clinician competence. Another difference is what each type
of pathology pays. A school pathologist starts at around $40,000 a year with a scheduled step raise
yearly of between $2,500 to $3,000. Medical SLP s start out at around $10,000 more than in a school
and can increase significantly more over time. According to Learn.org, the highest mean salary
someone can expect to receive in a hospital/laboratory setting is about $105,680 as of 2015
(Learn.org). One question I was eager to learn more about was how exactly does an SLP help
children? While researching this question, I came across a video that explains exactly how it helps
children. Speech Language Pathology can help with children s communication skills. It allows them to
better understand what is being said to them and how to express themselves to others. It encourages
them to talk with others more, and improves reading and writing skills. Communication can impact a
child s social skills and can be an area kids may struggle. With some help with their speech, they can
share a common focus with another person, play with others and share toys, understand feelings, and
make friends. Overall, Speech Language Pathology helps them interact better with people around
them and makes them feel more comfortable in a classroom (ASHA). One last thing that I was able to
come to a conclusion on was the common terminology used as a Speech Language Pathologist. Like

Effectiveness Of Public Services On Performance Management
Andrews (2014) pulled together considerable amounts of research about performance management
from around the world and came to four conclusions:
1. The effectiveness of public services can be enhanced by the use of performance management.
Leading to, citizens benefitting from a positive impact and improved outcomes.
2. Efficiency savings are not always a direct result of performance management alone, if organisations
want to save budgets they may need alternatives ideas.
3. Ground level performance measures prove most effective, however it is important to look at
learning through comparisons with similar organisations, this allows healthy competition.
4. Where performance indicators widely have public support, such as NHS waiting times, is the area
where performance management proves most effective in delivering improvements. However,
performance management effectiveness may be influenced by several other factors including
leadership and organisational culture.
It is an fascinating time for performance management which is being closely questioned and looked at
by those wanting to understand some of the the key challenges in practice, and how successful
performance management is providing better outcomes for citizens. Outcomes are often defined as
outcomes for effectiveness (improving how we do things) and outcomes for efficiency (doing things in
a more cost effective way). (Wolf and Fry 2013). Both of these outcomes are central to the NHS
performance framework.

The Raven Edgar Allan Poe Analysis
The poem The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe can be interpreted in many different ways. In my opinion,
the poem tells of a woman that was very important in his life. The raven in the poem is his
representation of the constant reminder that his lost loved one named Lenore is gone. There is a lot of
evidence that supports this claim throughout the poem that Poe uses. The narrator in The Raven is
grieving the death of a woman named Lenore. However, in the poem, we do not know who Lenore is
to him but we can guess that she had an impact on his life such as that of a mother or girl that he had
deep feelings for. The tone of the poem suggests that he is very depressed that she is gone and is
mourning her death still. At first, when the narrator hears ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He needs to let go of the death of her but just like the raven, it is lingering around him causing him
more sorrow. Nevertheless, the bird hangs around him just like his depression about his loss relating
the raven to the death of Lenore, or death in general. When the narrator keeps hearing the raven say,
Nevermore he thinks maybe that this is the only word that the bird knows. Then as he sits and the
raven remains he thinks more and speaks, Other friends have flown before On the morrow he will
leave me, as my hopes have flown before. In this quote, the narrator is referring to his hopes that
maybe one day Lenore will return, but those thoughts have left him which is causing him to feel so
lonely and sad about her death. When the narrator realizes that the raven is not leaving, he then
decides to try and figure out what exactly is the meaning of its appearance and it only speaking the
word nevermore. He concludes that maybe the bird came from an angry owner making the bird sad
like him and causing it to repeat that word. The way the narrator describes the bird in the next lines of
the poem point toward the true meaning of it, he uses terms such as, grim, ungainly, ghastly, gaunt,
and ominous... (Poe, Line 71). It is at this moment when the narrator s mood darkens even more and
he connects the raven fully to Lenore. The way the bird is looking at him makes him think about the
word nevermore in a

The Udhr And The Different World Viewpoints On Human...
The UDHR and the Different World Viewpoints on Human Rights
Accepted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human
Rights (UDHR) is comprised of a preamble and thirty articles. Each article delineates a specific right
that every human, either from the sake of being human and/or being part of the collective of humanity,
is forever entitled to. On the flip side, the preamble is comprised of seven clauses that taken together
accommodate the historical evolution, context, and reasoning behind the document s inscription.
Finally, at the end of the preamble is the declaration s proclamation, whose inclusion solidifies the
documents global significance. Given the historical time period that the UDHR was conceived in, its
thirty rights are quite an astonishing list. However, in today s times, the UDHR does not mention a
series of rights that the international community has, in some places more than others, started to
accept since 1948. In general, this trend can be easily noticed in how the declaration phrases rights
pertaining to the different sexes and/or genders. In not one of the thirty articles, do the words sexual
orientation or abortion appear, nor is there any mention that humans have the right to be gay, queer,
bisexual etc. At least in the United States, it has become more and more accepted that human beings
have the right to whatever sexual orientation that they innately possess. Therefore, they are allowed to
marry whoever they

The Methods Of Advertising In The Advertising Industry
The advertising industry uses many techniques to grab the attention of customers in order to promote
products and services. Different products or services require different methods to reach the preferred
clientele. One method, SEO (Search Engine Optimization), is used by large companies to record what
kind of ads interest different profiles of people. Methods vary from large corporations, down to the
mom and pop gas stations. Products and services typically appeal to specific customers and their
problems, businesses know this and offer solutions to those needs. However, some companies create
needs in their consumers, usually through products that cause dependency or by convincing impulse
buyers that they can t live without the product. According to Statista, an online statistics journal with
more than 18,000 sources, America spends more money on advertising than any other country in the
world. The advertisement rate grows every year, as we discover new social media outlets to distribute
information. As companies grow and develop, they target specific audiences by age, gender, location
and more, based on data gathered from social media, television ratings and other forms of responses
like surveys and reviews. Advertising has been around ever since there were products to be sold, or
money to be made. An Irish journalist from 1952 wrote, Wise advertising will preserve the goodwill of
former customers, keeping them loyal to the brand (MacCormack, 138) . This rule is

For about twenty eight years now the Asian elephant has been struggling for existence. They have
been classified as endangered species by The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
Twenty eight years is quite a large amount of time for an animal to be classified as endangered so The
Zoological Society of London decided to look into this issue. Asian elephants have been transferred to
captivity for quite some time in the North American region. The Elephas maximus have been captured
from these countries in southern Asia and brought over to North America and have experienced many
complications that can hinder the genetic diversity of the evolution of the species. Captive populations
of the Elephas maximus species may be essential for genetic preservation and aid in decreasing the
deterioration of the authentic population (Brenneman et al. 2011).
Unfortunately, keeping these elephants captive has caused issues. The females are at least 35 years of
age which isn t very essential for reproduction so as a result the mortality rate amongst the calves and

Clubfoot Essay
CLUBFOOT
Clubfoot is defined as a congenital foot deformity characterized by a kidney shaped foot that turns
inward and points down. The forefoot is curved inward, the heel is bent inward, and the ankle is fixed
in planter flexion with the toes pointing down. Shortened tendons on the inside of the lower leg,
together with abnormally shaped bones that restrict movement outwards cause the foot to turn
inwards. A tightened achilles tendon causes the foot to point downwards. The medical term for
clubfoot is talipes equinovarus . It is the most common congenital disorder of the lower extremity.

The majority of clubfeet results from abnormal development of the muscles, tendons, and bones while
the baby is forming in the uterus. Genetic and environmental factors in the development of the fetus
seem to also be some of the causes. The disturbance of the normal growing foot probably occurs at
about the eighth week of pregnancy. The cause of the foot growing deformed is unknown, but believed
to have something to do with heredity. Many cases of clubfoot do not have easily identifiable causes.
The goal of treatment is to achieve and maintain as normal as a foot as possible. The extent of the
required treatment varies, depending upon the rigidity of the foot. Treatment may take several months,
but most children learn to crawl, stand, and walk at the normal age. There are a couple different ways
to go about treating clubfoot, the two most perfered being manipulation and casting, and surgery.
Clubfoot is most common in children who suffer from spina bifida who have an L4 or L5 motor level.
Many orthopedic surgeons instead of serial casting suggest early taping and gentle manipulation
followed by an application of a well padded splint. The reason for this is because serial casting can
cause skin irritations and breakdown. Another technique manipulation and casting is a treatment that
begins shortly after birth. It involves slowly stretching out the tightened muscles and holding the foot

success of this business model, for example the limited number of items (around 4,000 per store
compared to 10,000 for competitors) which are selected and decided upon how much to stock based
on an analysis of each item s ability to sell, allows Costco to have higher sales volumes for each item,
thus enabling Costco to gain more bulk discounts from suppliers. This strategy enabled Costco to be
the number one warehouse retailer in market share ahead of Wal Mart s Sam s Club (Cascio 2013).

Ambiguity Of The Character In Shakespeare s The Merchant...
On page twenty five of Shakespeare s comedic play Merchant of Venice, Portia demonstrates her
dislike of the suitors through dialogue and the ambiguity of her diction in order to demonstrate her
feelings of unhappiness. In Act one Scene two, Portia discusses her true feelings about the suitors in
prose to Nerissa. She begins by telling Nerissa her true thoughts about the German suitor: When he
[the German suitor] is best he is a little worse than a man, and/ when he is worse he is little better than
a beast (I ii 88 89). Through her dialogue to Nerissa, Portia uses diction to demonstrate her strong
hatred towards the German suitors. By comparing him to a beast, Portia uses a vulgar metaphor to

Also, through dialogue, Portia again demonstrates her dislike towards the German suitor by saying to
Nerissa: I will do/ anything, Nerissa, ere I will be married to a sponge [before I marry the German

Nerissa to demonstrate that she strongly dislikes the German suitor. Portia s exaggeration that she
would rather be married to a sponge indirectly shows that she is unhappy with her restricted love life.
Portia wants to marry practically anything before she marries the German suitor, demonstrating she is
unhappy with her suitors and the game for her love. The dialogue is in prose, suggesting that Portia s
remarks about the suitors such as the German one are too dirty and inelegant to be in verse. This is
supported by her use of phrases such as she would rather be married to a sponge which seems like a

Music Can Affect Human Behavior
Music can affect human behaviour and plays an important role in our lives from infancy to maturity,
evoking a variety of emotions and communicating messages about what is currently happening or
about to happen. People use knowledge of the world and their scripts and schemas as a method of
organizing the complex sets of information being input into memory. Schemas use prior learned
general knowledge about an event, a person, or a situation to provide cues of what to expect in novel
scenarios. Since scripts and schemas are developed from the experiences that an individual undergoes,
it makes sense that children would have fewer scripts and schemas in place. Thus, adding a musical
cue may help in comprehension and retention of information.
One reason that music likely enhances recall is that music may allow separate features of separate
events to become bound into one grouping as it passes from sensory to working memory. However,
the effect of music on the facilitation of cognitive comprehension in young children in recalling novel
information from working memory by manner of this binding of information is relatively unstudied.
Music can be used to alter mood and facilitate positive interactions and cognitive functioning (Gold,
Frank, Bogert Brattico, 2013) as music acts as an auditory cue to the spatial pathways in the brain and
the motor cortex. As such, it may allow for faster information processing and comprehension (Fagen
et al., 1997). Pleasant sounding music has

Lockout And Tagout Procedures
Lockout/Tagout is a safety procedure that is used to make sure that dangerous machines are properly

Lockout /tagout procedures are important to employees and employers. The purpose of a
lockout/tagout program is to prevent injuries and unnecessary expenses to a company. Lockout/tagout
procedures and work instructions are created and implemented by employees and employers. Lockout

Motion Picture Production Code
Ever since its first introduction in 1893, motion pictures have become a remarkably successful
medium that portray drama and arouse the audiences emotions. It allowed for the audience to escape
from the hassles of everyday life and immerse themselves into the world of the story s narrative. From
the 1920s to the 1960s, motion pictures began to dramatically develop, building on the practices
established from the previous years of film. Prior to this period, motion pictures were only silent films.
In 1927 and the early 1950s, the addition of sound and color began to revolutionize film aesthetics and

Mockingbird that villain was Bob Ewell. Bob Ewell was the town drunk and his family was known for
being very poor, so he was surrounded by negativity that reflected through his behavior. In the work
To Kill a Mockingbird, the author Harper Lee used the character Bob Ewell to show that ignorance
and hatred doesn t get anyone anywhere.
Bob Ewell was very ignorant towards Tom Robinson because of his skin color. For example, after Bob
accused Tom of hurting his daughter, Bob always made racist remarks towards him. Bob Ewell, like
many others at the time, were very close minded towards people of color especially Tom. Even though

Congress Most Influential Policy Blunder
Aside from the decision to assign the project to the DOE in the first place, Congress most influential
policy blunder was picking the Yucca Mountain site and leaving no back ups or alternatives through
the NWPAA. It was done before the DOE had even finished evaluating all of its potential sites as
Congress had tasked it through the original NWPA. This decision by Congress is what ultimately led
to reports of falsified scientific documents as the DOE was essentially forced by the NWPAA to make
due with any issues they found at Yucca or face losing the entire federal nuclear repository project.
Had the DOE been both capable of and allowed to finish its own siting of the repository it would have
likely kept the decision open until scientific ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In reality what the EPA had done was set a site specific performance standard, based on what
qualifications they knew would be compatible with Yucca instead of setting a general performance
standard based on safety and science (Ewing Hippel, 2009). This superficial performance standard
was in part responsible for the shut down of Yucca Mountain as its authenticity and scientific accuracy
came into question along with the report of falsified documents. The decision in the NWPAA to pick
Yucca Mountain without any real selection process created one of the biggest altercations between
groups and organizations interested in this policy. By picking a site in Nevada, a state with no nuclear
reactors and a strong majority opinion against the construction of a repository, Congress pitted the
entire state against the federal government and other states. Nevada residents are so opposed to the
completion of the facility, polled at 76% in 2007 (Las Vegas Review Journal), that it has become a
requirement of anyone hoping to hold federal office in the state to feel the same sentiment. Because of
this governors, senators, and representatives from Nevada all view the permanent closing of Yucca as
a priority and adamantly oppose motions that would see the facility operational. Congressmen from
Nevada try

Kagemusha(Shadow Warrior) by Akira Kurosawa Essay
Research Paper
Shadow Warrior by Akira Kurosawa The film Shadow Warrior also known as Kagemusha was made
by Kurosawa in the year of 1980. The film recounted the actual historical event about the death of a
great samurai Shingen Takeda who was known as the head of Takeda family. The film started in the
year of 1573 while all samurai families competed with each other and the final goal was to unite Japan
as a whole. The period was also known as Sengoku period. The story began in Shingen s place while
his younger brother, Nobukado found a thief who looked almost exactly like his brother. The safety
for the head of family was top priority during Sengoku period. Therefore, the using of substitute in

These four signs are exclusive for Shingen himself or the head of family. During last battle fought by
Shingen s son and alliance of Oda Nobunaga and Tokugawa Ieyasu, Kurosawa emphasized on these
four sign heavily and tried to parallel different armies action with the meaning of the signs. So we
could actually feel the speed of the wind while Takeda Family s cavalry was moving. The rows on
rows of cavalry bewitching the world with noble horsemanship, the brilliant ensigns in their primary
colors representing the different noble houses, the incomparable swiftness of the warriors in their
movements and their swordplay, the peremptory long distance shouts, the precision of the gunfire, the
instantaneous obedience of the foot soldiers to their commanders: all bespeak the beauty, glory, and
efficiency of an elegant warfare, even in defeat. (Manheim)The heavy emphasis on the signs also
showed us steps one by one how Takeda Family was defeated. Because the strong connection between
these signs with the Takeda Family, while the Kagemusha found the flag with those 4 signs in the
water we immediately understand Takeda Family was defeated totally with nothing left. One other
great scene was when most of Takeda family s army was defeated by enemy s gunmen, the wound
soldiers and horses lying on the ground struggled to die. In Kagemusha he adds the very effective
shots of dying horses to be a more

The Beliefs Of Islam And The Five Pillars
Islam is not only religion, but a way of life followed by over 1 billion Muslims. Islam identifies the six
articles of faith, central beliefs that every Muslim must believe in order to be a true Muslim. These
include the belief in existence and unity of God, existence of angels, God s revelation to humans in
holy books, God appointing prophets to all people, resurrection and life after death, and God s Will
and human freedom of choice (Ewing, 2004, p. 1). The importance of these beliefs can be highlighted
through the practical expressions of the five pillars. These include Shahadah, Salah, Zakah, Saum and
Hajj which are all important during Muslim life because they are used daily or have to be performed at
least once. Many of the six ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The words can only be taken seriously if it is truly believed in one s heart. Morrissey et al (2010, p. 5)
suggest that the individual s whole life must back up the declaration of faith, otherwise it is
meaningless. Once the declaration is completed and witnessed by two others, they can be considered a
true Muslim. They have now shown their respect towards Allah and all other Muslims and can pass on
their own knowledge. The declaration of faith is recited constantly throughout a Muslim s life.
Significant times are at the birth of a baby, before death, waking and going to sleep. The first part of
the declaration, There is no God but Allah shows the importance of tawhid as it is the belief in the
existence, oneness and unity of Allah. Without believing in tawhid, Shahadah cannot be practiced as
there would be no true meaning behind it. This highlights the importance of tawhid while practically
expressing Shahadah. The declaration of faith is said while believing in tawhid, but also while
believing in all six articles of faith such as the existence of angels. The belief of angels is central to
Islam as they are the messengers of God. They are spirits created by Allah to express worship,
obedience and service as they witness Allah and all his glory (Mufti, 2006, p. 1). All angels provide a
service or duty. Angels mentioned throughout the Qur an include Raphael, Michael, Angel of death,

The Effect Of Larger Brain Size Predicts Greater Intelligence
Introduction Many studies show that larger brain size predicts greater intelligence. The studies show
that on average men have approximately 4IQ points higher than women due to larger head
circumference (HC). The greater IQ is generally formed after the age of 16 since women s brains stop
forming at this age but men s continue to develop and grow. The longer growth period leads to more
head circumference and brain mass which has been found be significantly correlated with higher
intelligence. Even in the elderly, head circumference has been found to be positively and significantly
correlated with intelligence (Schofield, Logroscino, Andrews, Albert, Stern, 1997; Tisserand, Bosma,
Van Boxtel, Jolles, 2001). The larger HC is also believed to house more neurons which help in the
speed of the information processing due to more synaptic connections (Pakkenberg Gundersen, 1997).
In general, general intelligence (G) is the best predictor of intelligence. In a Wall Street Journal article
in 1994, 52 leading psychologists defined intelligence as a very general mental capacity which, among
other things, involves the ability to reason, plan, solve problems, think abstractly, comprehend
complex ideas, learn quickly and learn from experience (Gottfredson, 1997, p. 13); others have
defined intelligence as the sum total of all cognitive abilities (Stankov Roberts, 1997, p. 76). In all
cases, males have tested higher on g than females leading researchers to believe

Mcdonald s Drive-Thru
Although many people visit fast food restaurants every day, they may be unaware of the detailed
thought that is made towards the structuring of the business and its employees. Many times, we are on
a constant rush to purchase our food and to quickly leave. Within the last few years, restaurants have
taken a note of this, and have even developed what is known as the Drive Thru . In today s modern
society, one thing people seem to be short of is time. We go in restaurants and literally expect fast
food. Restaurants like McDonald s have developed ways to decrease the amount of time for which
people have to wait for food; thus catching the attention of many Americans going about their day
with limited time. McDonald s developed innovative ways to configure the methods for which its food
should be made. Their developments are what have placed them in the top spot, where today their
franchises are globally recognized. Today they hold the record for the largest chain of hamburger fast
food restaurants in the world. McDonald s was originally founded by two brothers named Dick and
Mac McDonald. Having observed their method of food production, Ray Kroc now owner of
McDonalds, was stunned by their effectiveness. The brothers had developed a system of concentrating
on only a few items hamburgers, fries and drinks.

SMART platform project was then created to achieve the goals of 1) Develop a user interface which
allows iPhone like substitutability for medical apps based upon shared basic components; and 2)
Create a set of services that enables efficient data capture, storage, retrieval and analytics, which are
scalable to the national level and respectful of institutional autonomy and patient privacy. Mandel et
al. (2016) described SMART as an interoperability project with the distinctive goal of developing a
platform to enable medical applications to be written once and run unmodified across different
healthcare IT systems. HL7 FHIR Standard Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR,

tremendous following with significant investments from academic, government, and commercial
sectors. For instance, both Cerner and Epic, the two largest EHR vendors in the United States, have
committed to development based on FHIR. FHIR differs from past HL7 messaging standards in that it
takes a more service oriented approach to information exchange that combines data (e.g., patient,
encounter, practitioner, lab result) with operations that can be performed on them (e.g., read, create,
update, query). These operations are invoked using commodity networking protocols that are simple
and straightforward to implement. According to the HL7 s

Community Development Reflection
I have enjoyed taking this class this semester. Even though I hit a few hiccups along the way I pushed

benefit by taking this class and learning more about the health issues within a community. The
information can also be carried on and utilized within many other professions. I have shared many of
my learning experiences from this class with family and friends and have passed on a lot of
knowledge. I honestly feel taking this class in a classroom would have been more educational to me.
The use of visuals and hands on is a way I like to learn and as a result I would have retained and
understood more in this area. Having an experience professional in the career already attending the
class and sharing would have helped me too. Even though I did take this class online and a lot of
topics were covered in a short amount of time a lot of good information was taken in. It does help that
I have experienced on some level of the topics that were presented. There s always room for more

What discovery invention or idea could have the greatest impact on the 21st century? Many of us take

The Nest also learns one s general routine and determines when to automatically turn the system off

system on the IOT is Telcare which comes in the form of a smart blood glucose monitor with wireless
capabilities. With over 29.1 million people living with diabetes in the Unites States alone, the potential
user base is significant enough for the transition to be worthwhile. Telcare makes the tracking of blood
glucose levels and storing of important information far simpler than it has been with the usual
methods. The creators of Telcare have very clearly thought through the finer points of the meter, as
connecting the device to a smart phone is not required; if done there are plenty of great apps to go
with it. Whether connected or not, it will still upload glucose readings to the database for physicians
and users to interact with. This friendly feature will surely help to bring some of the less tech savvy
users on board, such as the elderly. Most blood glucose meters are as simple as possible, Telcare is
helping to project meters into a new, more efficient, direction. Jawbone has probably the most price

Both women in the stories suffer from an illness, both physical and mental, an extent in both
stories. Though there is emotional detachment, there is still some form of love, though it may have

husbands only thought of their wives by their illnesses, not as a person having one. This caused a great

Descriptive Essay About My First Buck
My First Buck
It was a bitter cold November morning. November 15 to be exact. This is a very special day to my
family and I. We woke up early that morning to get ready for the exciting day ahead of us. We bundled
up in many layers of clothes and made some cofee for my Dad.
We then set off to the blind before the trophies come out. As I was walking to the blind I could see my
breath. As the sun set over the leafless trees, we began to start hearing some life throughout the woods.
Although the movement we have heard has not been the trophy we have been looking for it just keeps
my heart pumping. We have probably been in the blind for about 5 hours so we decided to go grab
something to eat from the truck when suddenly we heard heavy footsteps right behind our blind which
is where the door is. I creeked the door open and what I saw made my heart go a million miles a
second. 3 doe stood behind us creeping around. They seemed very sketchy so immediatly we closed
the door and waited for them to come around to the front of the blind. The day got so much better
knowing that there are deer in this area. Even though they were doe we still had the thought in our
mind that a trophy buck might just pass through here looking for a mate. We watched the deer walk
about 30 yards in front of us for about 20 miniutes but by that time i was ready for a buck to come
through here. It was hard to sit still in the blind because there is old about 5 feet of room in there and I

Tragic Heroism in Shakespeare s Antony And Cleopatra Essay
In the tragedy Antony and Cleopatra , Shakespeare presents our protagonist Mark Antony as a tragic
hero. He does this by using a number of dramatically effective methods, including language, staging
techniques and structure. Aristotle defines a tragic hero as a character of noble stature who has a tragic
flaw (usually hubris which is over confidence/arrogance) and suffers a downfall that is partially their
fault but also due to factors beyond their control. The downfall they suffer exceeds the crime but the
tragic hero gains some sort of self awareness.
Before the audience meets Antony, Shakespeare presents us with two soldiers discussing Antony s
current debauched life. This is dramatically effective staging because they are acting ... Show more

Another soldier calls him the god of Jupiter which elevates Antony s status to that of a great leader,
because Jupiter was the leader amongst all the other gods. Philo compares him to Mars, the god of
war, which shows elevates his stature to be one of equal rank with a god. Caesar recalls Antony s
excellent soldiership and virtus qualities. Virtus was the Roman ideal of male force and energy:
military prowess coupled with devotion to one s honour and fame. Antony had to drink/the stale of
horses and eat strange flesh and the bark of trees in order to stay alive and he was borne so like a
soldier that thy cheek...lanked not. These striking images paint an unfathomable scene of heroic
endurance which the audience respects and admires.
The audience is privy to a private conversation in Caesar s home between Caesar and Lepidus, who
were the other two thirds of the triple pillar of the world the triumvirate. The triumvirate were a
powerful political and military force; they ruled the Roman Empire after the murder of Julius Caesar.
During this conversation, they discuss Antony s debauched life and his former greatness in Caesar s
home where Caesar feels free to express his opinions honestly and he declares that Antony is a man
who is abstract of all faults and someone who would give a kingdom for mirth. This shows us how far
he has fallen in Caesar s eyes as his tone would be scathing and I imagine he would be pacing as he
ranted about Antony

The Inequality Of A Capitalist Society Essay
There are many inequalities prevalent in the US, and as a capitalist society, one of the most common is
economic inequality. The Equality Trust defines economic inequality, as the gap between the well off
and less well of in regards to overall economic distribution ( How Is ). See, our capitalist society
strongly benefits those with a capitalist mentality and can afford the means to invest/own capital. Over
the years there has been an increasing wealth gap between the top one percent earners and the general
population. So why are the rich flourishing while the poor are struggling in this capitalist
environment? The policy decisions of our country allow this inequality to permeate throughout our
industries, thus creating a culture of power and greed. One result of this culture is the explosion of
high salaries in the US and Emmanuel Saez explains this trend in Striking it Richer. Saez affirms,
Indeed, estimates based purely on wages and salaries show that the share of total wage and salaries
earned by the top 1 percent wage income earners has jumped from 5.1 percent in 1970 to 12.0 percent
in 2006 (Grusky 89). Too bad that the 99 percent of America missed out on this massive economic
growth spurt. When economic growth is not evenly distributed among the general population, people
tend to question our entire system. This has been an increasingly controversial issue, where corporate
America is responsible for the constant exploitation of low level employees. Through my

Total Equality Analysis
The Societal Problems of Total Equality
I m the Greatest man you ll never know (2081). Harrison Bergeron was indeed the greatest character
never known in his society. 2081 and Harrison Bergeron tell of the futuristic society who citizens that
excel in normal activities are handicapped to meet the normal population standards. In Harrison
Bergeron and the short film 2081, the author and director use similar and different plot structures and
characteristics. Each similarity and difference show that limiting variation in a society is dangerous.
Harrison Bergeron and the short film 2081 have many similar elements in plot structure and
characteristics. For example, The year was 2081, and everybody was finally equal. They weren t only
equal before the law. They were equal in every which way (Vonnegut 38). 2081 choose to incorporate
the same beginning narration in the short story. This element sets up the viewer s expectations for the
plot and contributes to the idea of what Vonnegut portrays as the conflict of interest in the story.
Harrison does not want society to be equal and tries to overthrow the government to change that
because he sees the problems with total equality in society. In addition, both the film and short story
show how handicaps negatively affect society through Harrison father, George. In 2081, George is
shown with a handicap that plays sharp sounds such as a pin hitting a milk bottle to impair his thought
process. This detail shows how the

The Cost Of Execution
Executions have been a method of punishment for many years, yet the different types of executions
have advanced in technology over the years. Every state has a different way of executing criminals.
For example, Texas follows out the execution plan by conducting death by lethal injection. Our state
law allows a jury to vote for death by lethal injection for convicted criminals, and I would vote to
change this law. Many studies have been conducted to the find the truth about the cost of executions
versus the cost of life in prison. Pro execution supporters state that by carrying out executions
thousands of tax dollars are saved. This, in fact, is not necessarily correct. There is much research that
proves that executions are far more expensive

Miu does her decision making based on the morals in which her conscious believes. The superego is
based on morals and judgments about right and wrong. Even though the superego and the ego may
reach the same decision about something, the superego s reason for that decision is more based on
moral values, while the ego s decision is based more on reasoning (Freud). By my body and my mind
are two different things. A part of me was happy that Sumire was caressing me so lovingly. But no
matter how happy my mind was, my body couldn t resist. My body wouldn t yield to her. My heart
and my head were aroused but the rest of me was like a hard, dry stone. It s sad, but I couldn t help it
(Murakami 116). Mui brings herself to make this decision, again due to the fact that she is married.
Although Mui and her husband do not have a healthy relationship. In Miu s conscious she knows she
does not love him but even then respects him causing her to punish her ego. Thus, bringing her

The Agenda Setting Function of the Mass Media
Introduction
In 1922, Walter Lippmann suggested the very first idea of agenda setting in his book Public Opinion ,
and Bernard Cohen (1963) said The media may not tell us what to think, but they are stunning
successful in telling us what to think about . Those concepts assumed that with the limited ability and
innate curiosity of human beings, most people rely on media institutions to gain information outside
family, neighborhood and workplace. Thus the media organizations have the priority to choose which
information is quality enough to be the most important, which is not, and the information emphasized
by the media could salience transfer to the public.
To verify this concept, McCombs and Shaw conducted the first empirical research, ... Show more

theory.

agenda. Five original published researches will be described and analyzed. Although many parts
aforementioned can not be included in those five studies, with the long history and complicated net of
agenda setting theory, three levels of agenda setting could be an appropriate point cut, just as Guo, Vu
and McCombs (2012) suggest: agenda setting has evolved from a focus on media effects on the public
s perception of the most important issues of the day to a theory elaborating a hierarchy of
communication effects, its core is three levels of agenda setting . Considering of that, the following
contents will include (1) the explanation of each level agenda setting. (2) The effects and limitations
of agenda setting theory. (3) The important meaning of five selected researches. The valuation of
agenda setting theory will also be discussed by analyzing those parts mentioned above.

To begin, although religions are uniquely individualistic, they are founded on a common goal, the
establishment of morals within civilizations as well as globally. It is understood that people are
inherently individualistic and prone to self interests. Therefore, religion is used to promote tolerance

Essay On Poland
Poland is known worldwide for its delicious food and pristine green landscape. Today, Poland has the
sixth largest economy in the European union. The GDP in poland is 1.051 trillion dollars and has been
remained relatively steady since 2010. There is a fairly low unemployment rate at 6.2% in Poland
compared to Canada s 6.9%. Positive aspects of their economy include their steady rate of growth for
the last 25 years, their efficient use of resources from the European Structural funds and lastly the
strong domestic demand for their exports. On the other hand, unfortunately Poland s economy also
suffers from many many negatives. The first negative is their political uncertainty. Poland s political
uncertainty falls mainly on the presidential ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main reason for this rise is because of the persistent demand of a policy of economic liberalization
throughout the 90 s.
Productive Sector
The automotive industry is one of the biggest means of production in Poland, accounting for 11% of
their industrial productions. Before WWII, Poland s industrial sector consisted mostly of coal, textile,
chemical, and iron. It now includes items such as fertilizers, petrochemicals, and machine tools. In
2012, the PKN Orlen, located in Poland, was the biggest company in terms of sales in central Europe,
providing jobs for over 24,000 people. In poland, there are not many small and medium businesses
compared to other countries in the European Union. They have 1.9 businesses for every 1,000 citizens.
The role of small and medium businesses is very important in the Polish economy just like it is in
every economy, meaning they need new companies to challenge each other thus creating the most
efficient economy.
Trade
Poland has a balance of trade (the difference in value between a country s imports and exports) of 2
billion, 100 million dollars. As Poland is included in the European Union, they have a common
external tariff that applies for all goods coming from outside of the country. The main import for
Poland comes from the US, mostly shipping capital good s to help with industrial retooling. The major
exports of Poland are machinery, more specifically,

  • 2. Speech-Language Pathology Research Paper A Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is a specialist who evaluates and treats patients or students with speech, language, cognitive communication, and swallowing disorders in individuals of all ages, according to MedicineNet (MedicineNet). People of all ages can struggle with speaking whether it be articulating letters, stuttering or dyslexia. It is easiest to help correct these challenges at a younger age, but not impossible when you are older. Regardless of the age or the reason behind the treatment, the most important part is that the individual receives the therapy that is needed to help them reach their optimum ability in communication and speaking. Before starting this project, I didn t know very much about Speech Language Pathology. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While with Ms. Smith, I was able to learn more about the difference between Medical Speech Language Pathology and School Speech Language Pathology. One of the major differences was the schooling you have to go through to become each type of pathologist. In a school, they require a masters to pass the national test, and a teaching certificate, where as a medical SLP s need a masters to pass the national test, and a certificate of clinician competence. Another difference is what each type of pathology pays. A school pathologist starts at around $40,000 a year with a scheduled step raise yearly of between $2,500 to $3,000. Medical SLP s start out at around $10,000 more than in a school and can increase significantly more over time. According to Learn.org, the highest mean salary someone can expect to receive in a hospital/laboratory setting is about $105,680 as of 2015 (Learn.org). One question I was eager to learn more about was how exactly does an SLP help children? While researching this question, I came across a video that explains exactly how it helps children. Speech Language Pathology can help with children s communication skills. It allows them to better understand what is being said to them and how to express themselves to others. It encourages them to talk with others more, and improves reading and writing skills. Communication can impact a child s social skills and can be an area kids may struggle. With some help with their speech, they can share a common focus with another person, play with others and share toys, understand feelings, and make friends. Overall, Speech Language Pathology helps them interact better with people around them and makes them feel more comfortable in a classroom (ASHA). One last thing that I was able to come to a conclusion on was the common terminology used as a Speech Language Pathologist. Like most fields of study, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Effectiveness Of Public Services On Performance Management Andrews (2014) pulled together considerable amounts of research about performance management from around the world and came to four conclusions: 1. The effectiveness of public services can be enhanced by the use of performance management. Leading to, citizens benefitting from a positive impact and improved outcomes. 2. Efficiency savings are not always a direct result of performance management alone, if organisations want to save budgets they may need alternatives ideas. 3. Ground level performance measures prove most effective, however it is important to look at learning through comparisons with similar organisations, this allows healthy competition. 4. Where performance indicators widely have public support, such as NHS waiting times, is the area where performance management proves most effective in delivering improvements. However, performance management effectiveness may be influenced by several other factors including leadership and organisational culture. It is an fascinating time for performance management which is being closely questioned and looked at by those wanting to understand some of the the key challenges in practice, and how successful performance management is providing better outcomes for citizens. Outcomes are often defined as outcomes for effectiveness (improving how we do things) and outcomes for efficiency (doing things in a more cost effective way). (Wolf and Fry 2013). Both of these outcomes are central to the NHS performance framework. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Raven Edgar Allan Poe Analysis The poem The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe can be interpreted in many different ways. In my opinion, the poem tells of a woman that was very important in his life. The raven in the poem is his representation of the constant reminder that his lost loved one named Lenore is gone. There is a lot of evidence that supports this claim throughout the poem that Poe uses. The narrator in The Raven is grieving the death of a woman named Lenore. However, in the poem, we do not know who Lenore is to him but we can guess that she had an impact on his life such as that of a mother or girl that he had deep feelings for. The tone of the poem suggests that he is very depressed that she is gone and is mourning her death still. At first, when the narrator hears ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He needs to let go of the death of her but just like the raven, it is lingering around him causing him more sorrow. Nevertheless, the bird hangs around him just like his depression about his loss relating the raven to the death of Lenore, or death in general. When the narrator keeps hearing the raven say, Nevermore he thinks maybe that this is the only word that the bird knows. Then as he sits and the raven remains he thinks more and speaks, Other friends have flown before On the morrow he will leave me, as my hopes have flown before. In this quote, the narrator is referring to his hopes that maybe one day Lenore will return, but those thoughts have left him which is causing him to feel so lonely and sad about her death. When the narrator realizes that the raven is not leaving, he then decides to try and figure out what exactly is the meaning of its appearance and it only speaking the word nevermore. He concludes that maybe the bird came from an angry owner making the bird sad like him and causing it to repeat that word. The way the narrator describes the bird in the next lines of the poem point toward the true meaning of it, he uses terms such as, grim, ungainly, ghastly, gaunt, and ominous... (Poe, Line 71). It is at this moment when the narrator s mood darkens even more and he connects the raven fully to Lenore. The way the bird is looking at him makes him think about the word nevermore in a ... • 6. The Udhr And The Different World Viewpoints On Human... The UDHR and the Different World Viewpoints on Human Rights Accepted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is comprised of a preamble and thirty articles. Each article delineates a specific right that every human, either from the sake of being human and/or being part of the collective of humanity, is forever entitled to. On the flip side, the preamble is comprised of seven clauses that taken together accommodate the historical evolution, context, and reasoning behind the document s inscription. Finally, at the end of the preamble is the declaration s proclamation, whose inclusion solidifies the documents global significance. Given the historical time period that the UDHR was conceived in, its thirty rights are quite an astonishing list. However, in today s times, the UDHR does not mention a series of rights that the international community has, in some places more than others, started to accept since 1948. In general, this trend can be easily noticed in how the declaration phrases rights pertaining to the different sexes and/or genders. In not one of the thirty articles, do the words sexual orientation or abortion appear, nor is there any mention that humans have the right to be gay, queer, bisexual etc. At least in the United States, it has become more and more accepted that human beings have the right to whatever sexual orientation that they innately possess. Therefore, they are allowed to marry whoever they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Methods Of Advertising In The Advertising Industry The advertising industry uses many techniques to grab the attention of customers in order to promote products and services. Different products or services require different methods to reach the preferred clientele. One method, SEO (Search Engine Optimization), is used by large companies to record what kind of ads interest different profiles of people. Methods vary from large corporations, down to the mom and pop gas stations. Products and services typically appeal to specific customers and their problems, businesses know this and offer solutions to those needs. However, some companies create needs in their consumers, usually through products that cause dependency or by convincing impulse buyers that they can t live without the product. According to Statista, an online statistics journal with more than 18,000 sources, America spends more money on advertising than any other country in the world. The advertisement rate grows every year, as we discover new social media outlets to distribute information. As companies grow and develop, they target specific audiences by age, gender, location and more, based on data gathered from social media, television ratings and other forms of responses like surveys and reviews. Advertising has been around ever since there were products to be sold, or money to be made. An Irish journalist from 1952 wrote, Wise advertising will preserve the goodwill of former customers, keeping them loyal to the brand (MacCormack, 138) . This rule is ... The majority of clubfeet results from abnormal development of the muscles, tendons, and bones while the baby is forming in the uterus. Genetic and environmental factors in the development of the fetus seem to also be some of the causes. The disturbance of the normal growing foot probably occurs at about the eighth week of pregnancy. The cause of the foot growing deformed is unknown, but believed to have something to do with heredity. Many cases of clubfoot do not have easily identifiable causes. The goal of treatment is to achieve and maintain as normal as a foot as possible. The extent of the required treatment varies, depending upon the rigidity of the foot. Treatment may take several months, but most children learn to crawl, stand, and walk at the normal age. There are a couple different ways to go about treating clubfoot, the two most perfered being manipulation and casting, and surgery. Clubfoot is most common in children who suffer from spina bifida who have an L4 or L5 motor level. Many orthopedic surgeons instead of serial casting suggest early taping and gentle manipulation followed by an application of a well padded splint. On page twenty five of Shakespeare s comedic play Merchant of Venice, Portia demonstrates her dislike of the suitors through dialogue and the ambiguity of her diction in order to demonstrate her feelings of unhappiness. She begins by telling Nerissa her true thoughts about the German suitor: When he [the German suitor] is best he is a little worse than a man, and/ when he is worse he is little better than a beast (I ii 88 89). Portia s exaggeration that she would rather be married to a sponge indirectly shows that she is unhappy with her restricted love life. Portia wants to marry practically anything before she marries the German suitor, demonstrating she is unhappy with her suitors and the game for her love. The dialogue is in prose, suggesting that Portia s remarks about the suitors such as the German one are too dirty and inelegant to be in verse. • 16. Music Can Affect Human Behavior Music can affect human behaviour and plays an important role in our lives from infancy to maturity, evoking a variety of emotions and communicating messages about what is currently happening or about to happen. People use knowledge of the world and their scripts and schemas as a method of organizing the complex sets of information being input into memory. Schemas use prior learned general knowledge about an event, a person, or a situation to provide cues of what to expect in novel scenarios. Since scripts and schemas are developed from the experiences that an individual undergoes, it makes sense that children would have fewer scripts and schemas in place. Thus, adding a musical cue may help in comprehension and retention of information. One reason that music likely enhances recall is that music may allow separate features of separate events to become bound into one grouping as it passes from sensory to working memory. However, the effect of music on the facilitation of cognitive comprehension in young children in recalling novel information from working memory by manner of this binding of information is relatively unstudied. Music can be used to alter mood and facilitate positive interactions and cognitive functioning (Gold, Frank, Bogert Brattico, 2013) as music acts as an auditory cue to the spatial pathways in the brain and the motor cortex. As such, it may allow for faster information processing and comprehension (Fagen et al., 1997). Pleasant sounding music has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Prior to this period, motion pictures were only silent films. In 1927 and the early 1950s, the addition of sound and color began to revolutionize film aesthetics and the industry as a whole. Congress Most Influential Policy Blunder Aside from the decision to assign the project to the DOE in the first place, Congress most influential policy blunder was picking the Yucca Mountain site and leaving no back ups or alternatives through the NWPAA. It was done before the DOE had even finished evaluating all of its potential sites as Congress had tasked it through the original NWPA. This decision by Congress is what ultimately led to reports of falsified scientific documents as the DOE was essentially forced by the NWPAA to make due with any issues they found at Yucca or face losing the entire federal nuclear repository project. In reality what the EPA had done was set a site specific performance standard, based on what qualifications they knew would be compatible with Yucca instead of setting a general performance standard based on safety and science (Ewing Hippel, 2009). The decision in the NWPAA to pick Yucca Mountain without any real selection process created one of the biggest altercations between groups and organizations interested in this policy. By picking a site in Nevada, a state with no nuclear reactors and a strong majority opinion against the construction of a repository, Congress pitted the entire state against the federal government and other states. Nevada residents are so opposed to the completion of the facility, polled at 76% in 2007 (Las Vegas Review Journal), that it has become a requirement of anyone hoping to hold federal office in the state to feel the same sentiment. • 26. The Effect Of Larger Brain Size Predicts Greater Intelligence Introduction Many studies show that larger brain size predicts greater intelligence. The studies show that on average men have approximately 4IQ points higher than women due to larger head circumference (HC). The greater IQ is generally formed after the age of 16 since women s brains stop forming at this age but men s continue to develop and grow. The longer growth period leads to more head circumference and brain mass which has been found be significantly correlated with higher intelligence. Even in the elderly, head circumference has been found to be positively and significantly correlated with intelligence (Schofield, Logroscino, Andrews, Albert, Stern, 1997; Tisserand, Bosma, Van Boxtel, Jolles, 2001). The larger HC is also believed to house more neurons which help in the speed of the information processing due to more synaptic connections (Pakkenberg Gundersen, 1997). In general, general intelligence (G) is the best predictor of intelligence. In a Wall Street Journal article in 1994, 52 leading psychologists defined intelligence as a very general mental capacity which, among other things, involves the ability to reason, plan, solve problems, think abstractly, comprehend complex ideas, learn quickly and learn from experience (Gottfredson, 1997, p. 13); others have defined intelligence as the sum total of all cognitive abilities (Stankov Roberts, 1997, p. 76). • 40. Tragic Heroism in Shakespeare s Antony And Cleopatra Essay In the tragedy Antony and Cleopatra , Shakespeare presents our protagonist Mark Antony as a tragic hero. He does this by using a number of dramatically effective methods, including language, staging techniques and structure. Aristotle defines a tragic hero as a character of noble stature who has a tragic flaw (usually hubris which is over confidence/arrogance) and suffers a downfall that is partially their fault but also due to factors beyond their control. The downfall they suffer exceeds the crime but the tragic hero gains some sort of self awareness. Before the audience meets Antony, Shakespeare presents us with two soldiers discussing Antony s current debauched life. This is dramatically effective staging because they are acting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another soldier calls him the god of Jupiter which elevates Antony s status to that of a great leader, because Jupiter was the leader amongst all the other gods. Philo compares him to Mars, the god of war, which shows elevates his stature to be one of equal rank with a god. Caesar recalls Antony s excellent soldiership and virtus qualities. Virtus was the Roman ideal of male force and energy: military prowess coupled with devotion to one s honour and fame. Antony had to drink/the stale of horses and eat strange flesh and the bark of trees in order to stay alive and he was borne so like a soldier that thy cheek...lanked not. These striking images paint an unfathomable scene of heroic endurance which the audience respects and admires. The audience is privy to a private conversation in Caesar s home between Caesar and Lepidus, who were the other two thirds of the triple pillar of the world the triumvirate. The triumvirate were a powerful political and military force; they ruled the Roman Empire after the murder of Julius Caesar. During this conversation, they discuss Antony s debauched life and his former greatness in Caesar s home where Caesar feels free to express his opinions honestly and he declares that Antony is a man who is abstract of all faults and someone who would give a kingdom for mirth. This shows us how far he has fallen in Caesar s eyes as his tone would be scathing and I imagine he would be pacing as he ranted about Antony ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Equality Trust defines economic inequality, as the gap between the well off and less well of in regards to overall economic distribution ( How Is ). See, our capitalist society strongly benefits those with a capitalist mentality and can afford the means to invest/own capital. Over the years there has been an increasing wealth gap between the top one percent earners and the general population. So why are the rich flourishing while the poor are struggling in this capitalist environment? The policy decisions of our country allow this inequality to permeate throughout our industries, thus creating a culture of power and greed. One result of this culture is the explosion of high salaries in the US and Emmanuel Saez explains this trend in Striking it Richer. Saez affirms, Indeed, estimates based purely on wages and salaries show that the share of total wage and salaries earned by the top 1 percent wage income earners has jumped from 5.1 percent in 1970 to 12.0 percent in 2006 (Grusky 89). Too bad that the 99 percent of America missed out on this massive economic growth spurt. When economic growth is not evenly distributed among the general population, people tend to question our entire system. This has been an increasingly controversial issue, where corporate America is responsible for the constant exploitation of low level employees. Through my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
