Maximos 1 While Renaissance academics embraced the innovations of humanity to reason the
purpose of life, seventeenth century scientists progressed beyond the abstraction of philosophy
towards the concrete origins of humanity. With the potential to derive the foundation of the human
experience, Europe embarked on a successive intellectual revolution, known colloquially as the
Scientific Revolution. As scientists charted a new reality grounded in empirical evidence, the
universally accepted explanations of biology, astronomy, and physics of Ancient Greece were
systematically disproven. Contrary to previous academic rebirths, women were allowed to partake in
exploration in a limited capacity. While the Scientific Revolution was characterized ... Show more

Primarily, male scientists overburdened women peers with household responsibilities, deterring them
from absolute concentration on their careers. Moreover, women struggled to concur on their own
gender discrimination, bifurcating between traditionalists and the so called revolutionaries fighting for
equality. Finally, with organized societies recalcitrant to accept women, female scientists relied on
their husbands to legitimize their work, furthering the illusion of dependence. The marginalization of
women and their eventual break through to the intrinsic discrimination harkens immense similarity to
the 1920 s Suffragette movement. While women struggled to prove themselves as full citizens,
capable and fully redeemable of choosing leaders, men continued to disseminate lies and vicious
vitriol to prevent this inalienable right. Eventually, despite discrimination across all platforms, women

Descriptive Essay On The Giant Lobster
The Giant Lobster One day, David and his family decided to go on a vacation to maine like they do
every summer. They originally lived in West Hartford, Connecticut. David loved connecticut and so
did his three brothers, Steven, Rob, and Peter. They all packed their bags and got in their maveric and
headed off. They sung road trip songs, and played their road trip games. They eventually got bored
and just slept. The next morning, they all woke from their nice slumber and jumped out of the car. We
re here! We re here! Steven yelped as he was running for the cottage. The boys all ran after their
brother and get their swim trunks on so they could go down to the beach and explore. Steven, Peter,
and Rob wanted to build sand castles as tall as the sky but, dave wanted to go explore and look for
cool animals. So, Dave decided to leave his older brothers and explore by himself. As he walked along
the harbor when he came across something exhilarating. A giant lobster!! AAAAAHHHH dave
screamed as he ran for his brothers. The brothers were alarmed and instantly jumped up and ran to
their little brother. What s wrong!? Rob questioned grabbing his brother by the shoulders to calm him
down. Dave s long bleach blond hair covered his face as he explained what he saw. He said that it was
huge! At least 11 feet long and bright blue. Its large, sea green eyes were staring at him as if it knew
who he was. Its long nose hair things were pointing as if accusing dave. That sounds awful!! his three
brothers said in unison. Dave nodded and walked off. With his head down, he kicked up the sand as if
he was playing soccer with an imaginary ball. He wanted to walk back to the harbor and apologize to
the lobster for his alarmed reaction even though he knew the lobster wouldn t understand him. But, he
decided not to because he didn t want to look like a fool. So, he decided to walk back to the cottage
and read. While dave was reading, the lobster had built enough strength to walk. So, he got up off his
side and went into the town to get help so he could find his family and get back to the water. As he
walked through town, he learned a lot. He learned that people were scaredy cats and that he was one

Pieta In The Toilet Film Analysis
Terminal affliction dramas have been a long trope in films, with such classics like Love Story, Bright
Star, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, Biutiful and Sunny; either handling the subject manner in an
understated manner or wringing all the dramatic juice out of it for all of its worth.
It is definitely used as an easy in for audience sympathy, which some filmmakers have taken
advantage of to the point that there have been some horrific films like My Sister s Keeper, P.S I Love
You, Restless and of course, Me Before You. Those are examples that are exploitative, insistent and
borderline offensive.
So, when I was planning to watch Pieta in the Toilet, I was a bit nervous as to how the film would turn
out. But I had an open mind when I read that the director of the film, Daishi Matsunaga, was a
documentary filmmaker who decided to make this film his first narrative feature. His background in
documentaries could be a positive factor in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is then that the two start an unlikely relationship that we gradually see that they might have more in
common than one would think.
Now how does the film rank alongside other terminal affliction entries? Pretty damn high, I must say.
Pieta in the Toilet is a seemingly simple story effectively told with fantastic direction, top notch
performances, a well written script and indescribable cinematography that is reminiscent of the
cinematography in Linda Linda Linda (both lensed by Ikeuchi Yoshihiro).
First off, the direction. As mentioned earlier, director Daishi Matsunaga had directed documentaries
before this; one being about an actual famous artist, and it clearly shows in his latest effort. Aiming for
the tone to be realistic yet extracting beauty throughout the mundane settings like a swimming pool or
a hospital, Matsunaga strikes the perfect balance that makes the film a lot more hopeful that one
would think of its grim

Risk Management and Evidence
Portfolio 2
In this essay I will be discussing how the evidence from my portfolio demonstrates that I have
achieved one specific proficiency. A professional portfolio is a collection of carefully selected
materials that document the nurse s competencies and illustrate the expertise of the nurse. (Oerman,
2002). The proficiencies are based on the NMC 2013 code of practice. I will be exploring how the
proficiencies principles were attained and how my evidence connotes the achievement the evidence I
have provided is from my placement in semester 5, it was based within a drug community treatment
team. I will also concur what else I could have done to improve my portfolio evidence, then develop

My third piece of evidence [appendix III] is a work product and a description. this work product
covers proficiency 3.1.5 as it discusses the risks that the client may endure due to their current health,
behaviour and lifestyle choices. it also formulates an action plan if any factors that would escalate the
risk may occur; allowing us as health care professionals to protect the client to manage risk (NMC,
2013). As this is a work product it conveys that I have the skills to carry out a risk assessment on
clients in a correct way; thus evidencing I have key skills and knowledge to manage risk.
The limitations of achieving this proficiency are that when working with clients who are substance
misusers, they are constantly taking risks because of this lifestyle. This can be hard to manage at times
as a health care professional as we can not control a client s choices. this is why it is important to
thoroughly manage positive risk taking. I feel that I have done this throughout my evidence, however
on reflection I could have discussed my skills and knowledge further, so that it is more clear that I
understand the principles of risk management. I also feel that I could have given more variation of
evidence for example included further work products to support my reflective accounts.

Improving Employee Engagement Within The United States Essay
Organizations often say that their employees are their greatest asset. However, this statement is only
accurate if their employees are engaging in their work. Disengaged employees lead to high attrition,
low production, and poor company culture. Employee disengagement in the United States is at its all
time high. According to the most recent Gallup poll, seventy percent of American workers are
disengaged in their workplace (2013). However, this does not mean that our organization s employees
have to reflect this statistic. Based on my recent study, we can improve employee engagement within
this organization if we improve our communication efforts.
Purpose of the study
Good employees are considering to leave our organization due to the deficiency of downward
communication from upper management. Therefore, the purpose of the study is to examine how our
organization s deficiency in communication is effecting employee engagement. Then, determine the
most efficient communication tool to use to improve employee engagement and lower risks in high
attrition and low production. Furthermore, evidence will show that if you invest in town hall meetings
or video conferences, you can align your vision with your employees as you improve employee
engagement.
Methods and procedures used
This report combines academic research with primary research. My academic research investigates the
benefits of conducting town hall meetings or video conferences for a small company. Numerous

Seatbelts
There are many causes of crashes and fatalities on the road. One cause of death on
Utah highways is Unrestrained Occupants. Another cause for accidents is speeding. The last cause is
following too closely to the car in front of you. These are all things the people of Utah should work
on.
When you are inside a moving vehicle you should always have a seatbelt on, regardless of who is
driving. There is no reason to ride inside a vehicle without a seatbelt on. If you are unrestrained you
are much more likely to have a fatality. When you crash and you don t have a seatbelt on it causes you
to fly around the vehicle and potentially hurt yourself and others. They put seatbelts inside your
vehicle to protect you and for nothing else. The risks are much too high ... Show more content on

Another cause of accidents on Utah highways is speeding. The speed limits were set on that road for a
reason. If you are speeding you are going to potentially hurt other people and yourself. When you
speed you increase your chance of crashing dramatically. The Utah Driving
Handbook says There is 42% chance if you crash that you will die, also if you are a teen, 12% chance
of crashing if you are speeding. This means that the chances are way too high for you to be speeding.
There are police officers for a reason, they monitor us so that we don t speed because when we do it
usually turns out disastrous.
The last cause of accidents on Utah highways is following too closely to the vehicle ahead of you. In
the Utah Driver s Handbook it says, Always stay 2 seconds away from the vehicle in front of you this
way there should be no reason to crash into them, there should be plenty of time to respond if they
happen to slam on their brakes. Also the closer you get to the person, the higher the chances of getting
in an accident. I am assuming that most people would not like to crash their automobile. If I am right,
there is no reason that you should be following any closer than

Pop Culture And Its Effect On Society
Introduction
Popular culture has manifested itself in a number of ways. Currently, the most commonly used method
of spreading and exchanging opinions, ideas, art, and other concepts is through the internet. Never
before has it been so easy to shed light on a person or an idea, giving it levels of popularity that were
considered inconceivable in ages past. In many circumstances the way people are portrayed through
pop culture is most likely how they were perceived by the bulk of people. Pop/culture serves as a way
to connect people; help them relate to one another over shared opinions and interests. It was and is the
representative of the majority. But what of the times before the internet? How was pop culture
expressed in a time when people did not have the ability to express their thoughts and opinions with
millions at a time almost instantaneously? Theatre is one of the most time honored means of
entertainment. Before television and computers and the internet, actors would don a costume and tell
act for masses of people. It was a form of storytelling that was not limited to the literate or rich or the
scholars, but could be enjoyed by anyone form any economic background. Through it we can see our
history and opinions in the form of characters, plots, and settings. We can observe the changing of
mainstream opinions through the common themes and recurring motifs in the most popular plays.
This is particularity true in regards to females in theatre. Throughout the years we

The Difference between Terrorism and Domestic Terrorism Essay
The terms terrorism and domestic terrorism are very similar concepts. There are, however, slight
differences in each. Entities that are apart of the Government have slightly different ways of
explaining what they believe to be the correct definition of terrorism and domestic terrorism. In this
paper the author will offer definitions of the two terms and state which one they agree with the most.
The author will also state how the two terms are best differentiated.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) defines terrorism on the basis of three characteristics. In
order for an act to be considered terrorism, it needs to be (1) a violent act, or acts dangerous to human
life that violates laws; (2) appear to be intended (i) to intimidate or ... Show more content on

They elucidate that terrorism is a premeditated, politically motivated, violence perpetrated against
noncombatant targets by subnational groups of clandestine agents, usually intended to influence an
audience, (National Institute of Justice).
All of the definitions that the author has presented tend to share a common theme. In each of the
previous definitions, the use of force that is intended to coerce or sway a course of action that furthers
a social, or political goal. In most cases, the FBI definition is the one most widely used and accepted
by law enforcement entities (National Institute of Justice). The author seconds that the FBI definition
is the one that she agrees with the most. The FBI definition seems like the only one that doesn t leave
anything out. It is the most descriptive, and unlike the American Heritage definition, it broadens the
scope of terrorists from being a certain type of group to the possibility of it being just one man or
woman.
The FBI also gives a definition of domestic terrorism that is very similar to its definition of terrorism,
but has a minor difference. Like terrorism, there are three characteristics that need to be met in order
to define an act as domestic terrorism. The first characteristic is that it needs to involve acts that are
dangerous to human life that violate federal or state laws. The second characteristic is it needs to
appear intended to (i) intimidate or coerce civilian population; (ii) influence policies of a

Baseball Bat Physics
Does the Weight Affect the Distance a Baseball Will be Hit?
Baseball bats have not always been the same shape and size they are today. Many baseball players
were known to make their own bats. Overall, until real regulations depicting length and shape, it really
didn t matter what players used. This experiment will not have any hard parts when conducting it
other than measuring the length away from home plate the ball goes. Another hard part is figuring out
which baseballs are hot by which bat. One way to solve both of these problems is to measure the
distance before moving on to test the other bats.
However, in the more than 40 years since they were first introduced, they have evolved into superb
hitting instruments that, left unregulated, can significantly outperform wooden bats. (Brief History of
the Baseball) This quote shows that the aluminum bats, which will be used to test, are better than
wooden bats. A baseball will travel further when hit with an aluminum baseball bat, rather than a
standard wooden bat. (Swing velocity of aluminum and wooden baseball bats) Early batters were
known to sometimes whittle bats to suit their own hitting style. As you might imagine, the results were
quite diverse there were flat bats, round bats, short ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

because they are over exerting themselves when they swing. Shoulder instability may result in
shoulder pain, arm or shoulder weakness, a feeling of looseness in your shoulder, abnormal movement
of your shoulder or numbness in your arm. (Shoulder Discomfort When Swinging a Baseball Bat
Hard) They are doing this because they are swinging too hard. It can also benefit baseball players
because it will help them know which weight to use when batting to make it easier to hit the ball

Full Force And Effect Analysis
Theme The theme of Full Force and Effect by Tom Clancy is to never give up. One example that
helped identify this lesson is when Colin was about to surrender because he was very tired but ended
up continuing to run away so the documents wouldn t fall into the wrong hands (27). Another example
is when Jack Ryan Jr. wanted to cancel an operation in North Korea because it was too hard on him,
but he continued it and discovered valuable information. Lastly, another case of this moral is when
Gavin was trying to hack into the database of the mining company in North Korea. He spent all day
trying and failed, so he made himself try a few more times and ended up with full access to the
database of the employees. Other texts with the same theme ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

For instance on page 4, But he [John Clark] is also thinking about running around here as a twenty
five year old SEAL stud. The first part of the chapter told through John Clark but the perspective
changes to another character, Jack Ryan, later during the same chapter. Jack Ryan had thought this was
a boring and pointless mission (11). This proves that the narrator is all knowing thus this book is told
in third person omniscient.
Tone And Mood The mood of Full Force and Effect by Tom Clancy is exciting. Constant action
packed scenes makes one not want to put the book down. For example on page 62, Clark s head shook
as the grenade exploded right around the corner. The tone is very serious, factual, and forthright. For
instance on page 91, Runs fired left and right, Jack had no idea what had just happened. The violent
scenes fits very well with the literal scenes thus making the tone very grave.
Foreshadowing Gavin came back from the restroom and noticed a black van that has never been at the
hotel before. Later, a whole squad of heavily armed men attempt kill Gavin and his friends

Literary Devices InBallad Of Birmingham, By Dudley Randall
The poem Ballad of Birmingham, by Dudley Randall, is about the bombing of a church in
Birmingham, Alabama during 1963. The poem begins with a question and ends with a completely
different question. It starts with a girl asking her mother a question: Mother dear, may I go downtown
/ Instead of out to play, / And march the streets of Birmingham / In a freedom March today? (lines 1
4). It ends with the mother asking: But, baby, where are you? (line 32). The author uses literary
devices, such as rich word choice, vivid imagery, and alliterations, to bring up important issues of
racism, questions of freedom and safety, and to contribute to the poem s thematic significance.
Randall also uses a question and answer form between the mother and daugther to build a specific
tone, appeal to the reader s ethos, and bring up the issues of racism, freedom, and safety. The first four
stanzas are questions and answers in the form of dialogue; the daughter asking to be in the freedom
march and the mother telling her it is too dangerous. The mother tells her that the dogs will be fierce,
the guns will fire, and there will be clubs and hoses. In these stanzas the author uses repetition and
word choice to create the tone of a wary mother telling her daughter no and the daughter s youthful
innocence. When the daughter says: Mother dear (line 1) it conveys a young child trying to inveigle
her mother into letting her be in the march. The repetition of No, baby, no, you may not go, (lines 5
and 13), has the tone of a vigilant mother talking to her young child. Randall also uses an
understatement to support the issue of racism and the question of freedom. After the mother says there
will fierce dogs, clubs, guns, hoses, and jails, she says that those things: Aren t good for a little child.
(line 8) This is a tremendous understatement. No one, of any age, should be treated in such a hideous
way, especially free people at a freedom march. The author ends this section with foreshadowing and
dramatic irony. The mother says: No, baby, no, you may not go, / For I fear the guns will fire. / But
you may go to the church instead / And sing in the children s choir. (lines 12 15). This is dramatic
irony and foreshadowing

Watergate Of The Watergate Scandal
Watergate Scandal The Watergate Scandal happened almost 43 years ago; the event will never be
forgotten. The Watergate scandal defined, perhaps for the first time, that a president of the United
States could be portrayed as untrustworthy. Richard Nixon ran for a second term in 1972, in which he
won by a huge margin. The Democratic Party had their headquarters at the high end Watergate hotel.
The break in happened on June 17th, 1972, in which a security guard noticed the tape on the door
lock. Five men were found in the office and were arrested for burglary. It seemed like a mission to spy
on the Democratic Party since some of Nixon s assistants were involved in the case.
November 5th, 1968: Richard Nixon was elected the 37th president. In 1971, in the response to the
leak of the Pentagon papers which were about the Vietnam War that went into detail that nobody in the
public knew. President Nixon authorized a creation of special investigators known as the White House
Plumbers . The investigators included, Bernard Barker, Virgilio Gonzalez, Eugenio Martinez, Frank
Sturgis, and James W. McCord Jr. Nixon told John Ehrlichman who was the White House chief
domestic adviser If we can t get anyone in this damn government to do something about leaks, then by

An Analysis Of Tolstoy Tolstoy s The Sigh
Tolstoy says, people come to understand that the meaning of eating lies in the nourishment of the
body, only when they cease to consider that the object of that activity is pleasure. And it is the same
with regard to art. People will come to understand the meaning of art only when they cease to consider
that the aim of that activity is beauty, that is to say, pleasure. (Tolstoy, 7). The nourishment good art
provides is capability to infect others with the emotions that the artist had when he expressed the art.
This nourishment stems from the idea that one must have the feelings of the artist transmitted to them,
and if they experience similar feelings as the artist then it is true art and the observer/viewer is
nourished.
This hunger , this fundamental human need, which good art satisfies is the need for man to be united.
This lack of connection leaves humans hungry for real connection with those around them,
connections that are not tainted with corruption, but art that makes all men feel united and same as one
another. Art begins when one person, with the object of joining another or others to himself in one and
the same feeling, expresses that feeling by certain external indications. (Tolstoy, 9). The first bite of
food to satisfy the hunger begins with expression of an idea that evokes emotion in the artist, which
also evokes emotion from people around the artist. Sometimes people who are together, if not hostile
to one another, are, at least estranged in

A Nursing assistant fulfills the basic quality of life needs for patients of any age in residential nursing

be employed in many different settings, such as nursing homes, hospitals, personal homes or
anywhere else personal care is needed. Nursing Assistants act as helpful link between nurse and the

Coffee Tea Coffee And Cafe Coffee Essay
Café Coffee Day embarked on a market new to India, in a primarily tea drinking nation, coffee was a
rare commodity. They were quite successful while other competition washed out in this new market.
The problem Café Coffee Day is facing is not whether they can compete in an ever growing market,
but rather, if they can compete with Starbucks, a brand where a strong coffee culture already exists.
One that can rely on its superior customer service and word of mouth as free advertising.
After reading the article Coffee Wars in India: Café Coffee Takes on the Global Brands it became
obvious to me that Café Coffee Day had a head start in the coffee business and had a successful run up
until Starbucks entrance into the market in 2012. It had out stayed all other competition without much
efforts. Starbucks would definitely be giving them a run for their money. Café Coffee Day needs to re
evaluate its marketing strategy in order to stay at the top of their game.
Although Café Coffee Day has many stores throughout India in various locations with various
amounts of foot traffic, I was able to identify what I feel are key marketing issues that are holding
them back. The key marketing issues are a lack of advertising, the poor customer service provided in
their stores, and the lack of diversity in products available in grocery stores and super markets.
Although Starbucks doesn t use advertising either, their customer service precedes them. Customers

between a guardian and a youngster and the adoration inside of their family is essential to wellbeing.
Our vision is not to make the ideal association or to propel a trademark project model. Our vision
comes to past blocks and approaches. We long for a world loaded with unlimited potential outcomes,
unequivocal affection, and acknowledgment for kids and youth with exceptional medicinal services
and formative needs. For this to happen, these youngsters must have a solid crew. Childkind offers a
continuum of administrations. Through its Placement Services program, Childkind offers child care,
permanency arranging, and host home position. With its Home Base Services program, Childkind
gave Supportive Care Coordination, Family Support Services, and Advocacy Training. Amid 2014,
Childkind will be presenting in home nursing administration. We serve youngsters with complex care
needs or formative handicaps and their families. As every youngster has a one of a kind conclusion
and each family inside whom they live have one of a kind circumstance, we are readied to draw in
every family unit in a one of a kind way. While we utilize confirmation based programming, give
completely licensed administrations, and deliberately assess the nature of our operations, we never
dismiss the way that every family has its own particular universe, mysteries, and fortunes. That is the
place we convey our administrations in the home of every

The Game Theory And Politics
Game Theory and Politics Whenever Game theory is taught at colleges, politics is one area that is
never touched upon as an application of game theory. Though game theory in international relations
and national politics has been a studied in detail in the past, there has been a recent increase in the
popularity of this study. An increasing number of game models are extensively being used in informed
studies of arms control, preservation of international peace, disarmament policies, environmental
treaties, national politics, international trade negotiations and bargaining process etc., with all the
studies sharing the assumption that all the players in the international arena are rational with respect to
the goals they seek to advance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, governments will gain if they engage in international cooperation to limit expenditure on
military buildup. This problem of arms, and in general any problem of cooperation, can be explained
through the game of prisoners dilemma. Prisoner s dilemma was conceptualized by Melvin Dresher
and Merrill Flood in 195, and formalized and named by Albert Tucker. This game provides a basic
framework for the balance between cooperation and competition and therefore, is used extensively in
strategic decision making. Our example, arms race, can be modeled through this game. Two
governments, lets all them A and B decide whether to build nuclear arms or not. Thus, each has two
choices: build nuclear arms (denote by w) and not build nuclear arms (denote by n) and their
respective choices give them certain payoff. The following 2x2 matrix describes the model: B A Build
(W) Not Build (N) Build (W) (2,2) (4,1) Not Build (N) (1,4) (3,3) We can see that if both countries
agree to not build nuclear arms, they have a higher payoff than they do if they both build. However, if
they differ in their choices, then the country that chooses to build will have a power advantage over
the other and thus, a higher payoff. In the above figure, if A chooses to build and if B

How Does Nathaniel Hawthorne Use Forgiveness In The...
Forgiveness: Necessity or Courtesy? Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter, shows how
forgiveness is important both to society and the individual. Whether a spiritual part of life, or just an
act of courtesy, forgiveness plays a huge role in the lives of both Hester and Dimmesdale. Hester
doesn t hold any hard feelings towards her town, even after being shunned and humiliated by her
friends and neighbors. She was a self ordained Sister of Mercy; (126) meaning she was continued to
be kind to others without showing irritation or hatred. Instead she helps those who need it, and made a
good reputation for herself. Who is so kind to the poor, so helpful to the sick, so comfortable to the
afflicted (127). Soon, her scarlet letter became the same thing as a cross would be to a nun. She had
come to peace with her situation, and forgave her townspeople for how they treated her. She had every
right to be bitter, but she made peace through forgiveness and became selfless instead. ... Show more

He believed that he is an accursed thing (113) after what he has done, even though no one, other than
Hester, knows about it. His own lack of forgiveness causes him more suffering than anyone else could
inflict on him. In his mind he believes himself to be unfit for his office and he struggles with whether
or not he should tell everyone the truth. He even tries to set it up by calling himself out but his adoring
congregation seem to admire him all the more. He cannot forgive himself, inflicting not only mental
anguish but physical pain as well. It regresses his beliefs, similar to the old Roman church, with its
self flagellation and other types of penance. He even has nightmares of people finding out and looking
down on him for his hidden sin. There is no peace for Dimmesdale as there is no one to forgive his
crime, as it eats away at him from the inside

Cultural Context Vs Legal Framework
The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines Diversity as the condition of having or being composed of
different elements: especially the inclusion of different types of people in a group or organization (1).
It is evident that diversity impacts every country worldwide, as there is not one country in the world
that is not diverse. Although there are minorities and majorities within a country, whether a
government approves of it or not, each country is diverse in its own distinctive way. While
understanding this, we are able to analyze the problems of the past, deal with the current problems we
face, and ultimately, we will be able to foresee what conflict diversity will cause in the near future.

Conflict in regards to diversity, was, and still is an issue happening throughout Spain. An interesting
point the author makes about this, is that in order to better understand the lack of debate in regards to
diversity, we have to take social and historical contexts into consideration. This is something that I
agree on, and with this, have made connections from past articles in order to further analyze this. To
begin, Zapata Barrero informs readers that the Maurophobia existing in Spain began as the historical
iconography of the Moors, when the Spanish Catholic Kings expelled the Muslims from Spain in 1492
after more than eight centuries in Al Andalus (Zapata Barrero, 4). Learning this, I quickly turned my
attention to an article titled: Al Andalus in Analusia: Negotiating Moorish History and Regional
Identity in Southern Spain. Within this article, the author informs readers that every year, there is an
annual Festival of Moors and Christians, that takes place. At this festival each year, a giant, turban
clad puppet known as Mohammed is exploded. The problem with this, is that ever since the Muslims
were expelled out of Spain after more than eight centuries there, a conflict between the different races
has been present. Spain is a diverse place, and due to the conflict that has happened in the past, many
people don t realize that

High Schoolers And High School
Think back to when you were a child. While looking around, you often realize all of your friends
playing sports are exceptional at them. You are not the ultimate athlete and honestly don t enjoy sports
at all, but you keep playing anyways. All of your friends play and your parents have always
encouraged you to do well in sports and to be the best. You know there are other opportunities out
there for you, but you don t feel as popular just being satisfactory in school. In today s world, high
schoolers are constantly under pressure to do well in sports, but not necessarily in school. Life lessons,
like getting a job or just being an overall good person fly out the window. Central High School focuses
too much on athletics instead of academics; this problem can be alleviated through the encouragement
of parents to promote academic success and to help set realistic goals.
Parents need to promote academic success at every age and no matter what the student is involved in.
One of the problems today is that too many kids are overinvolved in activities, not allowing them to
have the proper amount of time to finish homework. Children are constantly under the presumption
that sports are more important than doing well in school. They work harder in practice than when
doing homework. Parents need to help encourage kids to get homework done, excel academically and
to gain the right friends. Many kids wind up making friends through sports and then they feel as
though if they

Tfr Case Study
This paper explores the events that contributed to the ambush of Task Force Ranger (TFR) and their
Pyrrhic victory over the Somali National Alliance (SNA) from 3 4 October 1993. The majority of
military and political historians concur that the Battle of Mogadishu hastened the departure of a
tenuous US military presence in Somalia. TF Ranger was successful in accomplishing their objective
of capturing six key lieutenants of Somali Warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid, but failed in the ensuing
extraction due to a complex ambush perpetrated by the SNA militia. This paper aims to illuminate the
intelligence failures and how these factors effected the events of the battle. A comprehensive summary
of the battle will lead to an analysis of the key actions and decisions, building to a possible outcome.

Despite the fact that Pi is a vegetarian, he has to eat raw food in order to survive. Pi realizes that he is
becoming similar to Richard Parker in the ways of eating. The descriptions of Pi s eating habits show
Pi s savage side. Without Richard Parker, Pi would not have had a role model to show him the ways of
surviving. As the coast of Mexico becomes visible, Pi realizes that he and Richard Parker must depart
and Pi becomes very distressed about this. As Pi and Richard Parker separate, Pi says I was weeping
because Richard Parker left me so unceremoniously. What a terrible thing is to botch a farewell
(Martel 360). At this point, Pi and Richard Parker have survived the Pacific Ocean. The two have
spent a lot of time together, which is unheard of. When Pi and Richard Parker separate, Pi is
devastated that his companion has left him so abruptly. Richard Parker had become a part of Pi but
now that Richard Parker had left, there seems to be a vacant part of Pi. When Richard Parker leaves,
the savage side of Pi seems to leave as well because there is no need for that side anymore.
Civilization doesn t show the savage side of human beings. Richard Parker is essential to Pi because
he taught Pi the fundamentals on how to survive without any assistance. In the novel, Life of Pi, the
author uses the symbolic Richard Parker to represent different parts of Pi and his life. It is easy to see
how a 450 pound Bengal tiger can be a threat to the life of an individual, but when

An extension of this approach is in network aggregation which aggregates data progressively as it is
passed through a network. In network data aggregation can reduce the data packet size, the number of
data transmissions and the number of nodes involved in gathering data from a WSN. Therefore, in the
field of WSNs, privacy preserving data aggregation is becoming a hot issue in WSNs. To address this
issue, some protocols have been proposed. In this, they provide a comprehensive summary and
comparison of the existing privacy preserving data aggregation protocols for WSNs. WSN is related to
privacy preserving data aggregation protocols (Ping et al 2012). In the authors reviewed privacy
preserving techniques for protecting two types of private information: data oriented and context
oriented privacy. First, authors focuses only on data privacy in order to provide detailed overviews of
the existing privacy preserving data aggregation protocols for WSNs (Ping et al 2012). Two main
security challenges in secure data aggregation are confidentiality and integrity of data (Sugandhi et al
2013). While traditionally encryption is used to provide end to end confidentiality in Wireless Sensor
Network (WSN), the aggregators in a secure data aggregation scenario need to decrypt the encrypted
data to perform aggregation. Thus, while data aggregation improves energy efficiency of a network, it
complicates the existing

One of the most recognizable figures in contemporary music, Beyoncé rose to fame as the central

while the RIAA acknowledged that, through 64 gold and platinum certifications, she was the decade s

eventually quitting his full time job to focus on their efforts. This situation would ultimately lead to

Questions On Database Management System
1. Interpreting language:
Since the file processing system can be built on any of the programming languages, this will be a
tedious task for other language developers to understand the actual logic behind the data storage and
build a new requirement. But Database Management System (DBMS) uses a Structured Query
Language (SQL) which will be used universally to insert, update or delete the data by all the
developers and this will act as a common language for all the developers/ end users to work with the
data.
2. Data redundancy and inconsistency.
In file processing system, many files are generated or created using different programming languages
by different developers in one particular project.
For example, let us consider the example of a Software project which consists of various teams/
developer teams.
a. Duplicate data:
In our software project example, if we have a particular person working on two technologies namely
.NET developer and as an Automation test developer, then the same person information (namely
employee id, email id, phone number) will be stored in both the files(namely .NET team file and the
Automation test developer file)
In DBMS, by using the normalization concepts on tables, we design the database in such a way that
the data is not duplicated.
b. Data Redundancy leads to higher storage and access cost.
As the same employee s data is stored in two different files, this leads to unnecessary usage of disk
space for the same employee data which will

LAD is another statistical optimality criterion and the statistical optimization technique that relies on
it. Similar to other celebrity like optimization techniques, LAD aims to find a function which closely
approximate our data. Trimmed Mean: Involves the calculation of the mean after discarding given
parts of a probability distribution or sample at the high and low end, and typically discarding an equal
amount of both. This number of points to be discarded is usually given as a percentage of the total

For classification trees, phi coefficient, Gini Index, or twoing are the most commonly used

theme of this book. The way Hemingway does this is through the diction and character development
of Jake. Jakes character development is built through a character foil with Robert Cohn, which

identity.
Furthermore Ernest Hemingway builds the character of Jake by making him the character foil of

interpreted through the character foil as him summiting to what life during the war was like even after
the war. Jakes flaw is caused by the hardships he endured during the war, which makes Jake come to
know nothing else. His life then was forever changed and lost hence the name lost generation which is

We see his insecurity when he says at the Cathedral, I was a little ashamed, and regretted that I was
such a rotten Catholic, but realized there was nothing I could do about it , which tells us that he is
conscious of his condition, but does nothing to fix it. It is evident that Jake doesn t want to do
anything about his problem because when he says, , at least not for a while, and maybe never , he
knows the problem is there but dismisses it by saying never.
To conclude Jake in the sun also rises is important to the book s plot because Hemingway builds Jake
s character through a character foil to emphasize Jake s overall character, and that character
development contributes to the theme of identity which Jake thinks he has under control but actually
doesn t. The fact that he doesn t have his identity under control explains Jake s strong acceptance to
his past war

Essay on Elevating the Power of a Novel through Symbolic...
When reading a piece of literature, a reader often finds many symbolic objects speckled throughout
the text. Some of these symbolic objects may be quite obvious to distinguish, while others may be
tucked away deep within the text. Whether the symbolism of the object is apparent to the reader or not
the author places them in the story to elevate the power of the text. In Truman Capote s Breakfast at
Tiffany s and Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar, there are a plethora of symbolic objects that hold a deeper
meaning then what appears on the surface. Capote and Plath two diverse authors, fill their novels with
a plethora of dynamic objects, such as a bird cage, a bell jar, a mirror, an unnamed cat and a diamond,

Much to the narrator s surprise during a Christmas celebration Holly tells him: Look in the bedroom.
There s a present for you (Capote 59). The present that Holly has waiting for the narrator is the bird
cage. Despite her dislike for the birdcage and its sense of confinement, Holly presents the narrator
with the bird cage under one condition; she doesn t want the narrator to ever hold an animal captive in
it. The narrator returns the birdcage to Holly because it costs too much saying, The money! Three
hundred and fifty dollars (59).Since the bird cage is a symbol of confinement for Holly, she gets rid of
it out, not wanting it lingering in her apartment. She gets rid of the bird cage due to the fear it gives
her of being trapped like she was at Doc s house in Tulip, Texas. Doc, the husband Holly never talks
about, is believed to have made Holly live a tightly confined life in Texas. Her time of confinement in
Texas is the reason Holly choose to leave and live a free spirited life in New York City. Capote has
used the bird cage to elevate the power of the novel, by developing the concept that Holly views
herself as a type of wild animal that has a fear of commitment and confinement.
In comparison to Capote s idea of a bird cage symbolizing a fear of being held captive, Plath uses a
fairly different object to also symbolize how someone can feel imprisoned in his or her own body.

Project Evaluation Of A Clinical Practice Project
I have conducted a clinical practice project within the emergency department triage area in which I
work. Evidence based research show that inefficiencies and delay of patient care may result in
undesirable patient satisfaction and poor patient outcomes. Through a comprehensive and
collaborative process, I will implement operational changes of two triage systems; quick triage and
Twiage. The implementations of both of these systems will allow the department to accommodate the
increased patient volume and improve the patient wait times, thus improving the quality of care and
increasing patient satisfaction. This paper will include the current triaging problem, an organization
that supports my chosen clinical project, proposed solutions, my ... Show more content on

This current problem correlates with other issues within the emergency department. A study was
performed by the Institute of Medicine (IOM) demonstrating the six components of the evaluations of
the quality of one s care; Safety, effectiveness, patient centered care, efficiency, time, and equitability
(Strang, Crotts, Johnson, Hartling, Guttman, 2015). The scope of my project involves training,
education and changing the way our department interacts with arriving patients and the triaging
process. The lack of specific tasks and communication in the triage area also lives. A dearth in
communication has been directly linked to delays in patient care, medication errors, and lack of
accountability (Sayah, Rogers, Devarajan, Kingsley Rocker, Lobon, 2014). With the use of
appropriate quick triage, communication, and transfer of patients one can implement targeted goals in
triage (Craig et at., 2016). The organization I selected to support my clinical project is The World
Health Organization (WHO). The WHO is one of the most effective organizations for advocating and
building healthier lives around the world. Their primary goal is to promote health with the use of
evidence based research and resources (WHO, 2017). The WHO has developed the emergency triage
assessment and treatment (ETAT). They teach emergent treatment skills of triaging

A Hanging and A Tell-Tale Heart
Within a short story, there is usually an obstacle that the main character has to persevere through.
Between the characters of the guard from George Orwell s A Hanging and the servant from Edgar
Allen Poe s A Tell Tale Heart , they both experience the act of taking another person s life. The guard
from A Hanging works at a prison in Burma where felons await execution. His job is to lead the
convicted men to their doom and makes sure everything goes routinely and swift. While the servant
from A Tell Tale Heart is a psychopathic man who lets his obsession over his boss s glasseye lead him
to plot and carry out his death. Throughout both stories, the protagonists reach a moment when they
need to take part in the organized killings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As shown, the guard finds it hard to accept the justifications for killing. He sees life as something
precious and feels that even if the option to end someone s life is there, using it would be inhumane.
On the other hand, in the story of The Tell Tale Heart it is clearly shows that the servant has no regard
for life. He states that whenever [the eye] fell upon me, my blood ran cold (Poe 1). This very gradually
(Poe 1) led him to the point where he made up [his] mind to take the life of the old man, and thus rid
[himself] of the eye forever (Poe 1). This alone displays that the servant considers life as something
that is simply disposable because he sees one flaw in the old man. He feels that the only way to be
able to be satisfied is to get rid of what is bothering him. When it comes to both of these characters,
their views on apply death are completely different. The guard sees that there is something wrong with
ending the life ofsomeone who is completely healthy, while the servant feels that life is something that
could be cut short and ended without a second though. Finally, both protagonists differ in the way they
react to the deaths. For the prison guard as soon as the killing took place an enormous relief had come
upon [them] now that the job was done (Orwell 34 35). The killing causes such a burden on him and
the rest of the staff because it was their duty as guards, they never have any say as to if they could
spare the prisoner.

Gender Differences in Trifles Essay
Trifles by Susan Glaspell is a play that is largely based on stereotypes. The most prevalent one is the
inferiority of women over men, though the play also explores the differences between genders in
general. First of all, Glaspell largely examines the repression of women in the 1900s. Women were
highly looked down upon by men, and were seen mostly as housekeepers and child bearers, and were
definitely not seen as intelligent people. The women in this play prove that the stereotypes against
them are completely wrong. The men in this story are sent out to discover the details of a murder,
while the women come along to gather some things for Mrs. Wright, who was accused of killing her
husband. Throughout the play, the men mock the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They don t realize that the little things do matter in solving a case like this. By worrying over trifles
(655), as Mr. Hale puts it, the women end up finding out a lot more about the murder than the men do.
The gender differences in the play are obvious and important to the story. The men in this play exhibit
some traditional stereotypes of men during the time period, such that they were aggressive and self
centered. The women seem to be more cautious, intuitive and sensitive. These traits allow the women
to come a lot closer to figuring out the murder than the men do. At one point in the play the women
find a quilt that Mrs. Wright had been working on. Mrs. Hale asks Mrs. Peters, I wonder if she was
goin to quilt it or just knot it? (658). Just then the sheriff comes down the stairs and once again
ridicules the women for worrying about such little things. They wonder if she was going to quilt it or
just knot it! (658), he exclaims. This is actually an important piece of evidence in the story, as the
ladies find out later. They realize that she was extremely nervous about something while she was
sewing, because she usually sews so nice and even (658), but the piece she had been working on was
all over the place (658). Then, while looking around in the kitchen, and not even trying to find
anything out about the murder, the

Providing Your Puppy Or Dog With An Indoor Kennel Crate
Providing your puppy or dog with an indoor kennel crate can satisfy many dogs need for a den like
enclosure. Besides being an effective housebreaking tool (because it takes advantage of the dog s
natural reluctance to soil its sleeping place), it can also help to reduce separation anxiety, to prevent
destructive behavior (such as chewing furniture), to keep a puppy away from potentially dangerous
household items (i.e., poisons, electrical wires, etc.), and to serve as a mobile indoor dog house which
can be moved from room to room whenever necessary.
A kennel crate also serves as a travel cabin for your dog when traveling by car or plane. Additionally,
most hotels which accept dogs on their premises require them to be crated while in the room to
prevent damage to hotel furniture and rugs. Furnishing Your Puppy s Crate: Toys and Treats: Place
your puppy s favorite toys and dog treats at the far end opposite the door opening. These toys may
include the Tuffy , Billy , Kong , Nylabone or a ball. Toys and balls should always be inedible and
large enough to prevent their being swallowed. Any fragmented toys should be removed to prevent
choking and internal obstruction. You may also place a sterilized marrow bone filled with cheese or
dog treats in the crate. Bedding: Place a towel or blanket inside the crate to create a soft, comfortable
bed for the puppy. If the puppy chews the towel, remove it to prevent the pup from swallowing or
choking on the pieces. Although most

Should Teeth Whitening Be Allowed In Salons
What is teeth whitening? Teeth whitening is the process of using bleach or other materials to make the
teeth appear whiter. The materials remove stains or other discoloration from the tooth surface. The
main concern of everyone, is should it be allowed outside of a dental office or not. There are articles
upon articles, debating whether teeth whitening should be allowed in salons or kiosks, and dental
offices. In my opinion, they shouldn t be allowed outside of the dental office, for a number of reasons,
which will later be explained. Since the 1990s, new technology has offered consumers many options
to brighten their smiles. There are many options to getting whiter teeth, however some are safer than
others. Mary Otto, author of Understanding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Salon bleaching could be labeled as unsanitary. We do not know about what level of sterilization and
disinfection is being done. You re dealing with something that is totally unregulated, Dr. Leslie Seldin
said. In the article, Tooth Whitening A Safe, Affordable Way to Improve Your Smile, Improper fitting
mouth trays may hold your jaws too far apart and cause potential jaw problems. Improperly fitting
mouth trays may also leak, causing possible gum irritation and less effective bleaching. Dentists can
also monitor the process of bleaching. They can vary the level of bleach used to minimize or avert any
type of discomfort. While in at OTC kit, you get a concentrated amount of bleach, that can t be altered
and most likely a one size fits all mouth tray. The New Jersey Dental Association sued Beach Bum,
due to alleging unfair competition and accusing the tanning chain of practicing illegal dentistry. Some
dentists were able to prevail, and block salons from providing teeth whitening in 2009. Since the gel

Abstract In this study a new noise source is proposed as a one of renewable energy sources in energy
harvesting. Disk Jokey (DJ) is a common device in celebrations and other events. Converting the
produced noise from DJ to electric energy by using a suitable piezoelectric transducer is the main aim
of this study. Piezoelectric sensors used to convert the sound waves to electric charges. Piezoelectric
sensor of the model 7BB 41 2 was used. The piezoelectric sensors were connected in series, parallel,
and series with parallel combination connections. The disk jockey was used as an acoustic noise
source. The sound intensity levels of the output sound were 81, 84, 87 dB. The output of the three
connection modes were measured at 0, 1,2,3,4, and 5cm distance. The results showed that the parallel
connection gave the highest power at the various distances. The maximum generated power was
4.96mwatts without using an external power supply for the signal condition device. The power
decreases by increasing the distance from the source of the noise.

A Speech On Nanotechnology
Nanotechnology is a term of two words: the first word is Nano and derives from the Greek word
Nanos and it means Dwarf or something very small. The second word is Technology and it means
applied application of knowledge in a certain field. So nanotechnology is the technology of very small
substances, and it specializes in treating the substance on the Nano measure to produce new, useful,
and unique resultants in its properties [22 23].The Nano is a unique measuring unit and from the
physical and mathematical point of view, the Nano equals one part of a billion of the measured unit.
The nanometer (nm) equals a part of a billion part of a meter. Thus, it is 10 9 of a meter. The Nano is
used as a measuring unit for very minute particles [24 26].

By changing the properties of the liquid phase (e.g. concentration, temperature, pH) adsorbed species
can be released from the surface and transferred back into the liquid phase. This reverse process is
referred to as desorption. Since adsorption is a surface process, the surface area is a key quality
parameter of adsorbents.
Engineering adsorbents are typically highly porous material with surface area in the range between
102 and 103 m2 /g. Their porosity allows realizing such large surfaces as internal surfaces constituted
by the pore walls. In contrast, the external surface is typically below 1 m2 /g and therefore of minor
relevance. As an example, the external surface of powdered activated carbon with a particle density of
0.6 g/cm3 and a particle radius of 0.02 mm is only 0.25 m2 /g.
However, adsorption is one of the promising methods to remove the dye pollutants from aqueous
system completely. It was, therefore, thought worthwhile to develop highly efficient and effective
adsorbents for the removal of dye from the textile

Remembering September 11, 2001
September 11, 2001 is a date in history that changed the lives of people from all over the world and
especially the lives of Americans. On this day nineteen militant men associated with al Qaeda, an
Islamic extremist group, hijacked four airplanes and carried out multiple suicide attacks on different
locations in the United States. Two of the planes directly struck the World Trade Center located in
New York City, one of the other two planes hit the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and the final plane
crashed in a field in Pennsylvania before it could reach its final destination. On this day, more than
3,000 people were killed including over 400 first responding police officers and firefighters. In recent
years as people look back on that day it is remembered as a time when the country was joined together
by grief and showed an overwhelming amount of comfort and support to the victims and their
families; it was also a time of extreme national pride. People also remember that following the attacks
the economy suffered tremendously, in addition, air traffic which makes up a portion of the economy
was greatly disrupted, both of which created uncertainty about the security of the financial markets
critical to the success of the United States. What most people do not remember is the immediate
backlash and hostility the Muslim and Arab communities received following the attacks by both
civilians and the media. This is a topic that has been largely ignored by the public and media s

  • 4. Descriptive Essay On The Giant Lobster The Giant Lobster One day, David and his family decided to go on a vacation to maine like they do every summer. They originally lived in West Hartford, Connecticut. David loved connecticut and so did his three brothers, Steven, Rob, and Peter. They all packed their bags and got in their maveric and headed off. They sung road trip songs, and played their road trip games. They eventually got bored and just slept. The next morning, they all woke from their nice slumber and jumped out of the car. We re here! We re here! Steven yelped as he was running for the cottage. The boys all ran after their brother and get their swim trunks on so they could go down to the beach and explore. As he walked along the harbor when he came across something exhilarating. A giant lobster!! AAAAAHHHH dave screamed as he ran for his brothers. The brothers were alarmed and instantly jumped up and ran to their little brother. What s wrong!? Rob questioned grabbing his brother by the shoulders to calm him down. Dave s long bleach blond hair covered his face as he explained what he saw. He said that it was huge! At least 11 feet long and bright blue. Its large, sea green eyes were staring at him as if it knew who he was. Its long nose hair things were pointing as if accusing dave. That sounds awful!! his three brothers said in unison. Dave nodded and walked off. With his head down, he kicked up the sand as if he was playing soccer with an imaginary ball. He wanted to walk back to the harbor and apologize to the lobster for his alarmed reaction even though he knew the lobster wouldn t understand him. But, he decided not to because he didn t want to look like a fool. So, he decided to walk back to the cottage and read. While dave was reading, the lobster had built enough strength to walk. So, he got up off his side and went into the town to get help so he could find his family and get back to the water. As he walked through town, he learned a lot. He learned that people were scaredy cats and that he was one too! ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Pieta In The Toilet Film Analysis Terminal affliction dramas have been a long trope in films, with such classics like Love Story, Bright Star, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, Biutiful and Sunny; either handling the subject manner in an understated manner or wringing all the dramatic juice out of it for all of its worth. It is definitely used as an easy in for audience sympathy, which some filmmakers have taken advantage of to the point that there have been some horrific films like My Sister s Keeper, P.S I Love You, Restless and of course, Me Before You. Those are examples that are exploitative, insistent and borderline offensive. So, when I was planning to watch Pieta in the Toilet, I was a bit nervous as to how the film would turn out. First off, the direction. As mentioned earlier, director Daishi Matsunaga had directed documentaries before this; one being about an actual famous artist, and it clearly shows in his latest effort. Aiming for the tone to be realistic yet extracting beauty throughout the mundane settings like a swimming pool or a hospital, Matsunaga strikes the perfect balance that makes the film a lot more hopeful that one would think of its grim ... Baseball bats have not always been the same shape and size they are today. Many baseball players were known to make their own bats. Overall, until real regulations depicting length and shape, it really didn t matter what players used. This experiment will not have any hard parts when conducting it other than measuring the length away from home plate the ball goes. Another hard part is figuring out which baseballs are hot by which bat. One way to solve both of these problems is to measure the distance before moving on to test the other bats. However, in the more than 40 years since they were first introduced, they have evolved into superb hitting instruments that, left unregulated, can significantly outperform wooden bats. (Brief History of the Baseball) This quote shows that the aluminum bats, which will be used to test, are better than wooden bats. A baseball will travel further when hit with an aluminum baseball bat, rather than a standard wooden bat. One example that helped identify this lesson is when Colin was about to surrender because he was very tired but ended up continuing to run away so the documents wouldn t fall into the wrong hands (27). Another example is when Jack Ryan Jr. wanted to cancel an operation in North Korea because it was too hard on him, but he continued it and discovered valuable information. • 16. Literary Devices InBallad Of Birmingham, By Dudley Randall The poem Ballad of Birmingham, by Dudley Randall, is about the bombing of a church in Birmingham, Alabama during 1963. The poem begins with a question and ends with a completely different question. It starts with a girl asking her mother a question: Mother dear, may I go downtown / Instead of out to play, / And march the streets of Birmingham / In a freedom March today? (lines 1 4). It ends with the mother asking: But, baby, where are you? (line 32). The author uses literary devices, such as rich word choice, vivid imagery, and alliterations, to bring up important issues of racism, questions of freedom and safety, and to contribute to the poem s thematic significance. Randall also uses a question and answer form between the mother and daugther to build a specific tone, appeal to the reader s ethos, and bring up the issues of racism, freedom, and safety. The first four stanzas are questions and answers in the form of dialogue; the daughter asking to be in the freedom march and the mother telling her it is too dangerous. The mother tells her that the dogs will be fierce, the guns will fire, and there will be clubs and hoses. In these stanzas the author uses repetition and word choice to create the tone of a wary mother telling her daughter no and the daughter s youthful innocence. When the daughter says: Mother dear (line 1) it conveys a young child trying to inveigle her mother into letting her be in the march. The repetition of No, baby, no, you may not go, (lines 5 and 13), has the tone of a vigilant mother talking to her young child. Randall also uses an understatement to support the issue of racism and the question of freedom. After the mother says there will fierce dogs, clubs, guns, hoses, and jails, she says that those things: Aren t good for a little child. (line 8) This is a tremendous understatement. No one, of any age, should be treated in such a hideous way, especially free people at a freedom march. The author ends this section with foreshadowing and dramatic irony. The mother says: No, baby, no, you may not go, / For I fear the guns will fire. / But you may go to the church instead / And sing in the children s choir. (lines 12 15). An Analysis Of Tolstoy Tolstoy s The Sigh Tolstoy says, people come to understand that the meaning of eating lies in the nourishment of the body, only when they cease to consider that the object of that activity is pleasure. And it is the same with regard to art. People will come to understand the meaning of art only when they cease to consider that the aim of that activity is beauty, that is to say, pleasure. (Tolstoy, 7). The nourishment good art provides is capability to infect others with the emotions that the artist had when he expressed the art. This nourishment stems from the idea that one must have the feelings of the artist transmitted to them, and if they experience similar feelings as the artist then it is true art and the observer/viewer is nourished. This hunger , this fundamental human need, which good art satisfies is the need for man to be united. This lack of connection leaves humans hungry for real connection with those around them, connections that are not tainted with corruption, but art that makes all men feel united and same as one another. Art begins when one person, with the object of joining another or others to himself in one and the same feeling, expresses that feeling by certain external indications. (Tolstoy, 9). Though game theory in international relations and national politics has been a studied in detail in the past, there has been a recent increase in the popularity of this study. An increasing number of game models are extensively being used in informed studies of arms control, preservation of international peace, disarmament policies, environmental treaties, national politics, international trade negotiations and bargaining process etc., with all the studies sharing the assumption that all the players in the international arena are rational with respect to the goals they seek to advance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, governments will gain if they engage in international cooperation to limit expenditure on military buildup. This problem of arms, and in general any problem of cooperation, can be explained through the game of prisoners dilemma. Prisoner s dilemma was conceptualized by Melvin Dresher and Merrill Flood in 195, and formalized and named by Albert Tucker. This game provides a basic framework for the balance between cooperation and competition and therefore, is used extensively in strategic decision making. Our example, arms race, can be modeled through this game. Two governments, lets all them A and B decide whether to build nuclear arms or not. Thus, each has two choices: build nuclear arms (denote by w) and not build nuclear arms (denote by n) and their respective choices give them certain payoff. The following 2x2 matrix describes the model: B A Build (W) Not Build (N) Build (W) (2,2) (4,1) Not Build (N) (1,4) (3,3) We can see that if both countries agree to not build nuclear arms, they have a higher payoff than they do if they both build. However, if they differ in their choices, then the country that chooses to build will have a power advantage over the other and thus, a higher payoff. In the above figure, if A chooses to build and if B ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter, shows how forgiveness is important both to society and the individual. Whether a spiritual part of life, or just an act of courtesy, forgiveness plays a huge role in the lives of both Hester and Dimmesdale. Hester doesn t hold any hard feelings towards her town, even after being shunned and humiliated by her friends and neighbors. She was a self ordained Sister of Mercy; (126) meaning she was continued to be kind to others without showing irritation or hatred. Instead she helps those who need it, and made a good reputation for herself. Who is so kind to the poor, so helpful to the sick, so comfortable to the afflicted (127). • 24. Cultural Context Vs Legal Framework The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines Diversity as the condition of having or being composed of different elements: especially the inclusion of different types of people in a group or organization (1). It is evident that diversity impacts every country worldwide, as there is not one country in the world that is not diverse. Although there are minorities and majorities within a country, whether a government approves of it or not, each country is diverse in its own distinctive way. While understanding this, we are able to analyze the problems of the past, deal with the current problems we face, and ultimately, we will be able to foresee what conflict diversity will cause in the near future. While reading, analyzing, and interpreting the article: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Conflict in regards to diversity, was, and still is an issue happening throughout Spain. An interesting point the author makes about this, is that in order to better understand the lack of debate in regards to diversity, we have to take social and historical contexts into consideration. This is something that I agree on, and with this, have made connections from past articles in order to further analyze this. To begin, Zapata Barrero informs readers that the Maurophobia existing in Spain began as the historical iconography of the Moors, when the Spanish Catholic Kings expelled the Muslims from Spain in 1492 after more than eight centuries in Al Andalus (Zapata Barrero, 4). Learning this, I quickly turned my attention to an article titled: Al Andalus in Analusia: Negotiating Moorish History and Regional Identity in Southern Spain. Within this article, the author informs readers that every year, there is an annual Festival of Moors and Christians, that takes place. At this festival each year, a giant, turban clad puppet known as Mohammed is exploded. The problem with this, is that ever since the Muslims were expelled out of Spain after more than eight centuries there, a conflict between the different races has been present. You are not the ultimate athlete and honestly don t enjoy sports at all, but you keep playing anyways. All of your friends play and your parents have always encouraged you to do well in sports and to be the best. You know there are other opportunities out there for you, but you don t feel as popular just being satisfactory in school. In today s world, high schoolers are constantly under pressure to do well in sports, but not necessarily in school. Life lessons, like getting a job or just being an overall good person fly out the window. Central High School focuses too much on athletics instead of academics; this problem can be alleviated through the encouragement of parents to promote academic success and to help set realistic goals. Parents need to promote academic success at every age and no matter what the student is involved in. One of the problems today is that too many kids are overinvolved in activities, not allowing them to have the proper amount of time to finish homework. Children are constantly under the presumption that sports are more important than doing well in school. They work harder in practice than when doing homework. Interpreting language: Since the file processing system can be built on any of the programming languages, this will be a tedious task for other language developers to understand the actual logic behind the data storage and build a new requirement. But Database Management System (DBMS) uses a Structured Query Language (SQL) which will be used universally to insert, update or delete the data by all the developers and this will act as a common language for all the developers/ end users to work with the data. 2. Data redundancy and inconsistency. In file processing system, many files are generated or created using different programming languages by different developers in one particular project. For example, let us consider the example of a Software project which consists of various teams/ developer teams. a. Duplicate data: In our software project example, if we have a particular person working on two technologies namely .NET developer and as an Automation test developer, then the same person information (namely employee id, email id, phone number) will be stored in both the files(namely .NET team file and the Automation test developer file) In DBMS, by using the normalization concepts on tables, we design the database in such a way that the data is not duplicated. b. Data Redundancy leads to higher storage and access cost. As the same employee s data is stored in two different files, this leads to unnecessary usage of disk space for the same employee data which will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Much to the narrator s surprise during a Christmas celebration Holly tells him: Look in the bedroom. There s a present for you (Capote 59). The present that Holly has waiting for the narrator is the bird cage. Despite her dislike for the birdcage and its sense of confinement, Holly presents the narrator with the bird cage under one condition; she doesn t want the narrator to ever hold an animal captive in it. The narrator returns the birdcage to Holly because it costs too much saying, The money! Three hundred and fifty dollars (59).Since the bird cage is a symbol of confinement for Holly, she gets rid of it out, not wanting it lingering in her apartment. She gets rid of the bird cage due to the fear it gives her of being trapped like she was at Doc s house in Tulip, Texas. Doc, the husband Holly never talks about, is believed to have made Holly live a tightly confined life in Texas. Her time of confinement in Texas is the reason Holly choose to leave and live a free spirited life in New York City. Capote has used the bird cage to elevate the power of the novel, by developing the concept that Holly views herself as a type of wild animal that has a fear of commitment and confinement. In comparison to Capote s idea of a bird cage symbolizing a fear of being held captive, Plath uses a fairly different object to also symbolize how someone can feel imprisoned in his or her own body. • 42. Project Evaluation Of A Clinical Practice Project I have conducted a clinical practice project within the emergency department triage area in which I work. Evidence based research show that inefficiencies and delay of patient care may result in undesirable patient satisfaction and poor patient outcomes. Through a comprehensive and collaborative process, I will implement operational changes of two triage systems; quick triage and Twiage. The implementations of both of these systems will allow the department to accommodate the increased patient volume and improve the patient wait times, thus improving the quality of care and increasing patient satisfaction. This paper will include the current triaging problem, an organization that supports my chosen clinical project, proposed solutions, my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This current problem correlates with other issues within the emergency department. A study was performed by the Institute of Medicine (IOM) demonstrating the six components of the evaluations of the quality of one s care; Safety, effectiveness, patient centered care, efficiency, time, and equitability (Strang, Crotts, Johnson, Hartling, Guttman, 2015). The scope of my project involves training, education and changing the way our department interacts with arriving patients and the triaging process. The lack of specific tasks and communication in the triage area also lives. A dearth in communication has been directly linked to delays in patient care, medication errors, and lack of accountability (Sayah, Rogers, Devarajan, Kingsley Rocker, Lobon, 2014). With the use of appropriate quick triage, communication, and transfer of patients one can implement targeted goals in triage (Craig et at., 2016). The organization I selected to support my clinical project is The World Health Organization (WHO). The WHO is one of the most effective organizations for advocating and building healthier lives around the world. Their primary goal is to promote health with the use of evidence based research and resources (WHO, 2017). The WHO has developed the emergency triage assessment and treatment (ETAT). • 43. A Hanging and A Tell-Tale Heart Within a short story, there is usually an obstacle that the main character has to persevere through. Between the characters of the guard from George Orwell s A Hanging and the servant from Edgar Allen Poe s A Tell Tale Heart , they both experience the act of taking another person s life. The guard from A Hanging works at a prison in Burma where felons await execution. His job is to lead the convicted men to their doom and makes sure everything goes routinely and swift. While the servant from A Tell Tale Heart is a psychopathic man who lets his obsession over his boss s glasseye lead him to plot and carry out his death. Throughout both stories, the protagonists reach a moment when they need to take part in the organized killings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As shown, the guard finds it hard to accept the justifications for killing. He sees life as something precious and feels that even if the option to end someone s life is there, using it would be inhumane. On the other hand, in the story of The Tell Tale Heart it is clearly shows that the servant has no regard for life. He states that whenever [the eye] fell upon me, my blood ran cold (Poe 1). This very gradually (Poe 1) led him to the point where he made up [his] mind to take the life of the old man, and thus rid [himself] of the eye forever (Poe 1). This alone displays that the servant considers life as something that is simply disposable because he sees one flaw in the old man. He feels that the only way to be able to be satisfied is to get rid of what is bothering him. When it comes to both of these characters, their views on apply death are completely different. The guard sees that there is something wrong with ending the life ofsomeone who is completely healthy, while the servant feels that life is something that could be cut short and ended without a second though. Finally, both protagonists differ in the way they react to the deaths. For the prison guard as soon as the killing took place an enormous relief had come upon [them] now that the job was done (Orwell 34 35). The killing causes such a burden on him and the rest of the staff because it was their duty as guards, they never have any say as to if they could spare the prisoner. ... • 44. Gender Differences in Trifles Essay Trifles by Susan Glaspell is a play that is largely based on stereotypes. The most prevalent one is the inferiority of women over men, though the play also explores the differences between genders in general. First of all, Glaspell largely examines the repression of women in the 1900s. Women were highly looked down upon by men, and were seen mostly as housekeepers and child bearers, and were definitely not seen as intelligent people. The women in this play prove that the stereotypes against them are completely wrong. The men in this story are sent out to discover the details of a murder, while the women come along to gather some things for Mrs. Wright, who was accused of killing her husband. Throughout the play, the men mock the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They don t realize that the little things do matter in solving a case like this. By worrying over trifles (655), as Mr. Hale puts it, the women end up finding out a lot more about the murder than the men do. The gender differences in the play are obvious and important to the story. The men in this play exhibit some traditional stereotypes of men during the time period, such that they were aggressive and self centered. The women seem to be more cautious, intuitive and sensitive. These traits allow the women to come a lot closer to figuring out the murder than the men do. At one point in the play the women find a quilt that Mrs. Wright had been working on. Mrs. Hale asks Mrs. Peters, I wonder if she was goin to quilt it or just knot it? (658). Just then the sheriff comes down the stairs and once again ridicules the women for worrying about such little things. They wonder if she was going to quilt it or just knot it! (658), he exclaims. This is actually an important piece of evidence in the story, as the ladies find out later. They realize that she was extremely nervous about something while she was sewing, because she usually sews so nice and even (658), but the piece she had been working on was all over the place (658). • 45. Providing Your Puppy Or Dog With An Indoor Kennel Crate Providing your puppy or dog with an indoor kennel crate can satisfy many dogs need for a den like enclosure. Besides being an effective housebreaking tool (because it takes advantage of the dog s natural reluctance to soil its sleeping place), it can also help to reduce separation anxiety, to prevent destructive behavior (such as chewing furniture), to keep a puppy away from potentially dangerous household items (i.e., poisons, electrical wires, etc.), and to serve as a mobile indoor dog house which can be moved from room to room whenever necessary. A kennel crate also serves as a travel cabin for your dog when traveling by car or plane. Additionally, most hotels which accept dogs on their premises require them to be crated while in the room to prevent damage to hotel furniture and rugs. Furnishing Your Puppy s Crate: Toys and Treats: Place your puppy s favorite toys and dog treats at the far end opposite the door opening. These toys may include the Tuffy , Billy , Kong , Nylabone or a ball. Toys and balls should always be inedible and large enough to prevent their being swallowed. Any fragmented toys should be removed to prevent choking and internal obstruction. You may also place a sterilized marrow bone filled with cheese or dog treats in the crate. Bedding: Place a towel or blanket inside the crate to create a soft, comfortable bed for the puppy. If the puppy chews the towel, remove it to prevent the pup from swallowing or choking on the pieces. Although most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Converting the produced noise from DJ to electric energy by using a suitable piezoelectric transducer is the main aim of this study. Piezoelectric sensors used to convert the sound waves to electric charges. Piezoelectric sensor of the model 7BB 41 2 was used. The piezoelectric sensors were connected in series, parallel, and series with parallel combination connections. The disk jockey was used as an acoustic noise source. The sound intensity levels of the output sound were 81, 84, 87 dB. The output of the three connection modes were measured at 0, 1,2,3,4, and 5cm distance. The results showed that the parallel connection gave the highest power at the various distances. The maximum generated power was 4.96mwatts without using an external power supply for the signal condition device. The power decreases by increasing the distance from the source of the noise. Engineering adsorbents are typically highly porous material with surface area in the range between 102 and 103 m2 /g. Their porosity allows realizing such large surfaces as internal surfaces constituted by the pore walls. In contrast, the external surface is typically below 1 m2 /g and therefore of minor relevance. As an example, the external surface of powdered activated carbon with a particle density of 0.6 g/cm3 and a particle radius of 0.02 mm is only 0.25 m2 /g. On this day nineteen militant men associated with al Qaeda, an Islamic extremist group, hijacked four airplanes and carried out multiple suicide attacks on different locations in the United States. Two of the planes directly struck the World Trade Center located in New York City, one of the other two planes hit the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and the final plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania before it could reach its final destination.
